Latest / HEAVY Music Interviews / THE HIVES Forever: Swedish Rock Icons Return To Australia
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, hello there. My name is Nicholas Arson. I play
- 0:03Speaker 1: with the rock band Swedish rock band The Hives. I'm
- 0:05Speaker 1: currently sitting here in Perth with a pretty stunning view
- 0:09Speaker 1: from the twenty first floor of the hotel of the
- 0:11Speaker 1: River and the mountains surrounding mountains.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Lucky, lucky to be there where I am. It's freezing,
- 0:17Speaker 2: so it's nice that you're there.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Nick. This is such a big deal for me. I've
- 0:23Speaker 3: been a fan of The Hives since I.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Was literally a kid, and at one point I even
- 0:28Speaker 2: wanted to name one of my children Pelle. Knowing how
- 0:32Speaker 2: much you guys love Australia, It's awesome that you're starting
- 0:34Speaker 2: the tour here.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Was that a conscious decision?
- 0:39Speaker 1: Well, it's the conscious degession is always you know, you know,
- 0:44Speaker 1: you say yes to the show and stuff. But yeah,
- 0:46Speaker 1: now I think it's been you know, we've sort of
- 0:49Speaker 1: been at it since sort of the last record.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Really we sort of played.
- 0:55Speaker 1: For such a long time now that it's I mean,
- 0:57Speaker 1: it was just like what sort of felt like a
- 0:59Speaker 1: brief gap going into this one. So it kind of
- 1:02Speaker 1: feels like we're sort of both starting the record here
- 1:04Speaker 1: and sort of finishing the last record. Here, so's you
- 1:08Speaker 1: got to get the best of both words.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Say yeah, we're lucky, and just touching more on that,
- 1:15Speaker 2: You guys only recently put out your other album before
- 1:18Speaker 2: this one, and before that, there was quite a gap.
- 1:23Speaker 3: With the songs that are on the new album.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Is this content left over from the last album or
- 1:29Speaker 2: is everything new?
- 1:31Speaker 1: Everything is new apart from some small bits here and there,
- 1:35Speaker 1: like a song here and there that might be like
- 1:37Speaker 1: a song like bad Calls, like a song that we
- 1:39Speaker 1: played before live and also painted Pictures like one of
- 1:42Speaker 1: those songs that we played live, and I think the
- 1:45Speaker 1: sort of the main riff on a song called roll
- 1:48Speaker 1: out the Red Carpet is we're trying to finish that
- 1:51Speaker 1: one on t run asur as hypes. We're working on
- 1:55Speaker 1: that rief. Even so those bits, the rest is brown
- 1:59Speaker 1: spanking new.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah, fantastic, And with over thirty years in the game,
- 2:04Speaker 2: you're still putting out records that feel explosive as ever.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Is the Hives Forever the Hives a celebration of what
- 2:10Speaker 3: you've built or does it feel like another beginning more?
- 2:15Speaker 1: It feels more like the beginning, I'd say, because they
- 2:17Speaker 1: kind of you know after I think you know, whatever,
- 2:20Speaker 1: thirty plus years of existence and you know, just sort
- 2:24Speaker 1: of keeping on, keeping on. I think we sort of
- 2:27Speaker 1: just noticed that hang on. You know, we've been at
- 2:30Speaker 1: this for you know, this is a forever thing, you know,
- 2:33Speaker 1: So it's more feels kind of like we we we
- 2:36Speaker 1: we caught on to the fact that we were forever,
- 2:39Speaker 1: you know. And I think by now, like we're one
- 2:41Speaker 1: of those bands now that we've had, you know, such
- 2:42Speaker 1: a long career and we've had fans and we've had
- 2:44Speaker 1: you know, so I think even if we quit now,
- 2:47Speaker 1: you know, people would still you know, remember the Hives,
- 2:50Speaker 1: you know, one.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Hundred percent, and you guys have been a band for
- 2:54Speaker 3: so long. What's kept you guys together for that long?
- 2:58Speaker 1: Well, I think it's just it's really like your Matt
- 3:01Speaker 1: and Joan. Joan has been in the band now for
- 3:03Speaker 1: eleven years, and before that it was Mad to play
- 3:05Speaker 1: the bass, and that's really the only lineup change. But
- 3:08Speaker 1: that's you know, unnecessity. You know, Matt couldn't tour anymore.
- 3:12Speaker 1: So after that, it's just I think we like doing it.
- 3:17Speaker 1: That's the only real reason. I think we like doing
- 3:19Speaker 1: it more than not doing it. And I think that's
- 3:23Speaker 1: and I also think that we like doing the Hives
- 3:25Speaker 1: more than not doing the Hives, So I just think
- 3:28Speaker 1: that's you know, but it's also that like you do
- 3:31Speaker 1: it in a way where you think, like every record
- 3:33Speaker 1: is your last, and you do you know, you think
- 3:35Speaker 1: every like you pour so much into it that you
- 3:37Speaker 1: think you almost think that every tour is your last,
- 3:40Speaker 1: every record is your last. But I think that's I
- 3:46Speaker 1: think that's just the way of doing it that that
- 3:49Speaker 1: makes it more fun. Like if you had to if
- 3:51Speaker 1: you had to shave off energy in order to be
- 3:55Speaker 1: able to do it for longer or like, that wouldn't
- 3:57Speaker 1: be fun to us. Like, it has to be full on,
- 4:00Speaker 1: and that's what makes it fun. Like if you go
- 4:02Speaker 1: around touring playing shows that you know, seventy percent of
- 4:05Speaker 1: your capacity or something that would suck to the point
- 4:08Speaker 1: of where you wouldn't want to do it, so you
- 4:10Speaker 1: have to do you have to pour everything into it.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Yeah, awesome.
- 4:15Speaker 2: And what's one thing about the band dynamic now that
- 4:18Speaker 2: would have surprised the twenty year.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Old version of yourself.
- 4:23Speaker 1: It's the same. Yeah, it's kind of the same. Maybe
- 4:27Speaker 1: we argue a little bit less, or maybe we don't.
- 4:31Speaker 1: It's just that one thing where you know, kind of
- 4:32Speaker 1: where every argument is supposed to go, is you kind
- 4:34Speaker 1: of shut your mouth a little bit more.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Maybe maybe that.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Would have been surprising at twenty years old, but you know,
- 4:40Speaker 1: it's it's kind of the same. It's a band of
- 4:42Speaker 1: names are kind of the same, and it's just I mean,
- 4:46Speaker 1: I think that the only thing that would surprise us
- 4:49Speaker 1: is maybe the way we look.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Oh, you guys look the same, if I'm being honest,
- 4:57Speaker 2: thank you.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And album was shaped with.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Some major names like Mike Day and Joshan had of
- 5:05Speaker 2: working with that crew influence your guitar work or the
- 5:08Speaker 2: overall creative process.
- 5:10Speaker 4: I mean my personal guitar work for the overall process both.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I mean, the guitar work is really only guitar work
- 5:25Speaker 1: that's supposed to go in to benefit the song. I mean,
- 5:30Speaker 1: you can do guitar work and it'll be guitar work,
- 5:33Speaker 1: which you can also do guitar work that's just going
- 5:35Speaker 1: to be benefiting, you know, of the song. And that's
- 5:37Speaker 1: the way that we always did it, you know, if
- 5:41Speaker 1: you know, they're just sort of certain snippets here and
- 5:43Speaker 1: there that'll just sort of tie a piece together. But
- 5:51Speaker 1: that didn't really change, you know, as far as the
- 5:54Speaker 1: way that I play guitar.
- 5:55Speaker 4: It's the same.
- 5:55Speaker 1: It's probably more so than you know, they probably you know,
- 5:59Speaker 1: usually nowadays, as soon as sort of people produce our records,
- 6:01Speaker 1: they already know our band and they know you know
- 6:04Speaker 1: that why don't.
- 6:04Speaker 4: You do that thing? You do? Yeah, more of that,
- 6:07Speaker 4: you know, So it's probably more so than just.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Wanting you know, maybe wanting more of the type of
- 6:13Speaker 1: you know, the type of playing that we already do.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Is what they want on the record or what we
- 6:17Speaker 1: want on the record.
- 6:18Speaker 5: And yeah, as a whole, I think it's like both
- 6:27Speaker 5: those guys as well, you know, they know our band
- 6:29Speaker 5: and they know what we're supposed to sound like, and
- 6:31Speaker 5: they just go, you know, yeah, this is great, you know,
- 6:33Speaker 5: release that, or you know, they how about trying this
- 6:36Speaker 5: or you know, like Mike d was more hands on
- 6:38Speaker 5: and the process.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Josh was more of that, you know, like this sounds great,
- 6:40Speaker 1: wanted to just release it. And with Mike it was
- 6:43Speaker 1: more like, why don't we try that, Like he was
- 6:44Speaker 1: actually in the studio working, so he'll go, yeah, why
- 6:48Speaker 1: don't we try this? Or I made this demo you know,
- 6:50Speaker 1: and like your song and I think this could be cool, you.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Know, Yeah, that's awesome. So it wasn't so much that
- 6:57Speaker 3: you know, you guys didn't have any control over whatsoever.
- 6:59Speaker 3: You still really had a huge input on the album obviously.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean we sit there in the studio all
- 7:05Speaker 1: the time. It's like that's how the records are being made,
- 7:08Speaker 1: and then you bring someone in.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Yeah, and Painter Picture has been called a fan favorite
- 7:14Speaker 3: for years before its official release. What was it about
- 7:17Speaker 3: this track that made you hold on to it for
- 7:19Speaker 3: so long? And why was now the time to unla shit?
- 7:25Speaker 4: I don't know really.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I mean, it's just like certain songs need to be
- 7:30Speaker 1: on certain records, like you like, when we make records,
- 7:33Speaker 1: we make records that we don't make a collection of songs. Yeah,
- 7:38Speaker 1: so it has to be like maybe it just didn't
- 7:40Speaker 1: fit on the last record or something, or there were
- 7:42Speaker 1: other sort of similar types of songs there. You know,
- 7:44Speaker 1: there were some fast paced numbers, you know, so maybe
- 7:49Speaker 1: that's it. You know, it's like when we make records,
- 7:52Speaker 1: we make albums, and then it's supposed to have certain dynamics.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You know, you listen to those sequences over and over
- 7:57Speaker 1: and over and over again. Until you're happy with what
- 8:00Speaker 1: they are. And maybe that's the reason.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Beautiful and Australia seems to have a special place in
- 8:07Speaker 3: the highest heart. What do you personally enjoyed most about
- 8:09Speaker 3: being here?
- 8:12Speaker 1: Well, I like it that it's a country where there's rockers,
- 8:15Speaker 1: you know, like people come to your shows and they
- 8:17Speaker 1: rock out and stuff, and it's also pretty laid back.
- 8:19Speaker 3: I like that.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I mean, I remember the first time we came from
- 8:22Speaker 1: like a media storm in the UK and we came here.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I was in two thousand and one, two I think
- 8:29Speaker 1: for New Years going into New Year's two thousand and two.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I think it was the first time we came in.
- 8:35Speaker 1: So we were like, like, you know, in a sort
- 8:37Speaker 1: of hype in England and we were just doing all
- 8:39Speaker 1: this press and all that stuff. And then we came
- 8:41Speaker 1: to Australia and we're like, oh, so when's press And
- 8:43Speaker 1: they were like, we can book some interviews if you
- 8:45Speaker 1: want to, you don't have to, and I'm like, well, no, no,
- 8:48Speaker 1: that's fine. So we just rented surfboards and went out
- 8:51Speaker 1: trying to serve you know. I mean, the weather is great,
- 8:54Speaker 1: the food is great. You know, you got mangoes. I mean,
- 8:57Speaker 1: that's one thing. I mean, all that stuff is just
- 9:00Speaker 1: you know, beaches and mangoes and you know, all the
- 9:02Speaker 1: stuff that we don't really have in Sweeten. Now we
- 9:04Speaker 1: got beaches, but not with the same kind of you
- 9:06Speaker 1: know heat as you do here.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Yeah. Do you not have mangoes in Sweden?
- 9:11Speaker 1: Well, we have mangoes, but we don't have the trees.
- 9:13Speaker 1: You know, we don't have the fresh mangoes.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Yeah, fair enough, Oh do yeah? And do you have
- 9:20Speaker 3: any memorable wild stories from the past Australian tours that
- 9:23Speaker 3: stand out to you.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I mean there's been a bunge of them now, like
- 9:28Speaker 1: the tours and stuff, and it's.
- 9:31Speaker 4: I mean, I don't really remember.
- 9:33Speaker 1: It's always hard, you know, you always get that question
- 9:35Speaker 1: like what's the weirdest thing that happened to you?
- 9:37Speaker 4: And what's the weird But it's always like that. That's
- 9:39Speaker 4: just all the time.
- 9:40Speaker 1: That's just part of the normal touring day, you know,
- 9:43Speaker 1: and somebody will go do you remember when that happened?
- 9:46Speaker 1: You go, oh, yeah, that happened. But it's just like,
- 9:49Speaker 1: you know, you move on because every day is kind
- 9:51Speaker 1: of like that. Like on a tour, you'll do you know,
- 9:52Speaker 1: maybe twenty or thirty shows and then you know, you
- 9:56Speaker 1: don't remember all of it, so it's but I mean
- 9:59Speaker 1: what I remember mostly about Australia is probably sun you
- 10:02Speaker 1: know here, you come here and it's warm and it's
- 10:04Speaker 1: you know, I think that's my It's a pretty boring answer,
- 10:09Speaker 1: but I remember the song in Australia.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I know that's fair enough.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I can imagine there'd be so many stories, as you said,
- 10:17Speaker 2: not just from Australia as well, from so many countries.
- 10:19Speaker 3: It'd be hard to just think of one on the spot.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely.
- 10:23Speaker 1: It's kind of like when they ask you about your
- 10:24Speaker 1: favorite show and you have maybe one hundred of those,
- 10:28Speaker 1: you know, so you have at least, you know, one
- 10:30Speaker 1: hundred amazing shows that you feel like like that's top notch.
- 10:34Speaker 4: You know.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it. Well, I think maybe you could answer
- 10:38Speaker 3: this one. Then. Do you have a favorite hip song
- 10:40Speaker 3: that you'd love playing that you never get sick of?
- 10:46Speaker 4: I always say Main Offender.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Yeah, Like Main Offender is like one of my favorite
- 10:51Speaker 1: songs to play, but because it has that just that
- 10:54Speaker 1: short little guitar intro and then it goes into you know,
- 10:58Speaker 1: full crash mode and I love that sort of like
- 11:01Speaker 1: people react to that.
- 11:02Speaker 4: I love that.
- 11:03Speaker 1: But then I love playing all the songs that you know,
- 11:05Speaker 1: get a reaction, you know, like it's that total. It's
- 11:07Speaker 1: always popular and Tiicnic Boom is popular, and like all
- 11:10Speaker 1: those songs that get a reaction, those are the ones
- 11:12Speaker 1: that I want to play. I don't I don't really
- 11:14Speaker 1: have any obscure material that I want to be like
- 11:17Speaker 1: I want to you know, no, it's I want to
- 11:20Speaker 1: play you know, whatever people like, And those are the ones,
- 11:23Speaker 1: like the ones that get because to me, it's a.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Very sort of a do you say reciprocal or yeah.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, reciprocal thing you know between
- 11:35Speaker 1: you know, us and the fans, and the same thing
- 11:37Speaker 1: for me when I go to shows, I think you're
- 11:39Speaker 1: both part of it, which is such an important thing,
- 11:42Speaker 1: like you know, and that's the best part about the shows,
- 11:44Speaker 1: which is why you know, cell phone filming is fucking
- 11:47Speaker 1: up music as as we know it. So the shows
- 11:50Speaker 1: are continuously you know, the shows are continuously suffering from that.
- 11:56Speaker 1: All the shows in the world are suffering from you know,
- 11:59Speaker 1: cell phone filming. I hate that, but it's but so
- 12:04Speaker 1: it's you know, you're supposed to be able to have
- 12:06Speaker 1: a reaction and you know, have a moment between you
- 12:08Speaker 1: and someone in the ground. You know, that's what I
- 12:11Speaker 1: like about and that's the reason why I want to
- 12:13Speaker 1: play those songs.
- 12:13Speaker 3: You know. Yeah, definitely, I think it.
- 12:16Speaker 2: It excuse my friendship fox up the you know, the
- 12:20Speaker 2: audience as well. If they're filming, they're not really being
- 12:23Speaker 2: in the moment listening to the music.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Oh very much.
- 12:26Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean they're they're complete. You know, they
- 12:28Speaker 1: could they could just be pylons for all. Like, you know,
- 12:30Speaker 1: when they're filming, you know, they don't really even have
- 12:32Speaker 1: to be there. They can just leave their camera on
- 12:34Speaker 1: the tripod and just suck off.
- 12:36Speaker 4: You know.
- 12:36Speaker 3: That's it. That's it.
- 12:39Speaker 2: And the Heights were a huge part of shaping my
- 12:42Speaker 2: entire musical library as a kid. Have you ever had
- 12:46Speaker 2: oh sorry, what are some of the musical influences from
- 12:49Speaker 2: you when.
- 12:50Speaker 3: You were a kid and today? Are there any bands
- 12:54Speaker 3: that you absolutely love?
- 12:56Speaker 1: Well, there's tons of bouds. It's kind of the same there,
- 12:58Speaker 1: you know, like there's one hundred bands that I love,
- 13:00Speaker 1: you know, but it's I mean, probably the maybe the
- 13:03Speaker 1: most important band for me growing up was ac DC
- 13:06Speaker 1: because that's the first rock band that I got into.
- 13:08Speaker 1: So that was like when we told with them here,
- 13:10Speaker 1: that was like a pretty big deal. You know, kind
- 13:13Speaker 1: of felt little bit like full circle, you know, am
- 13:15Speaker 1: I quitting now?
- 13:16Speaker 4: Like what's happening? Do we don't have to do this anymore? Yeah?
- 13:20Speaker 4: Or have to? You know, are we not supposed to?
- 13:23Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean they were really important to me.
- 13:24Speaker 1: But then punk, you know, like it was really importantly
- 13:27Speaker 1: like all the most of them sort of American punk bands,
- 13:29Speaker 1: I guess, you know, like Misfits, Dead Kennedy's Bad Brains,
- 13:34Speaker 1: like all those bands were really important to me, you know.
- 13:37Speaker 1: And also you know, more current bands like sort of
- 13:39Speaker 1: nineties bands like the Oblivions and the New Bomb Turks.
- 13:42Speaker 1: They were really important to us as well as far
- 13:44Speaker 1: as our sound sixties bands like the Sonics, you know
- 13:47Speaker 1: obviously you know the Stowes. Yeah, I mean there's a
- 13:52Speaker 1: there's a ton of bands you know that you you
- 13:55Speaker 1: feel like, you know, this is you know, important stuff,
- 13:58Speaker 1: you know, and also that you know have inspired us,
- 14:01Speaker 1: like you know, our craft work or Divo. You know,
- 14:04Speaker 1: a lot of the Swedish bands were really important to
- 14:06Speaker 1: us too, you know, all the bands that were on
- 14:07Speaker 1: our label, because you know, you could go to you know,
- 14:11Speaker 1: there would be all, you know, all these shows and
- 14:13Speaker 1: all these festivals like you know pretty much, you know,
- 14:17Speaker 1: you know, you could go twice a month in the
- 14:19Speaker 1: or you could go more than that in the summer.
- 14:21Speaker 1: You know, there'd be all these small festivals, you know,
- 14:23Speaker 1: or bands like you know, Mel and Colin are off
- 14:25Speaker 1: on Lower Fifth nine times, the pain Teddy Bears, they refuse.
- 14:28Speaker 1: You know, all these bands would play like in any
- 14:30Speaker 1: you know, if there was a little elevated wooden wooden floor,
- 14:34Speaker 1: you know, they'd play it, you know. Yeah, and it
- 14:37Speaker 1: was the same, Like that was the same for us.
- 14:38Speaker 1: You know, that's how we started, you know, like the
- 14:40Speaker 1: back of a truck or something, and that's you know,
- 14:42Speaker 1: that was that was really important, you know because it
- 14:44Speaker 1: was kind.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Of like a movement, you know.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely. And how about have you found any new release,
- 14:51Speaker 3: new artists, new bands that you really impressed by?
- 14:54Speaker 1: Well, I mean there's bands constantly that I think are
- 14:57Speaker 1: really good, Like we have Split Systems supporting us here
- 14:59Speaker 1: and I I think they're great, you know, like gamelin
- 15:03Speaker 1: the Snippers obviously. Also, you know, I love the VIAGRAA Boys,
- 15:06Speaker 1: a Swedish band. Yeah, I mean there's a ton like
- 15:10Speaker 1: all the time, Like there's great bands, Swedish band called
- 15:14Speaker 1: Fat Brain that I like, you know, like there's there's
- 15:16Speaker 1: a ton of stuff, you know.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Yeah, wicked, that's awesome.
- 15:20Speaker 2: And the new record as well was partly made at
- 15:22Speaker 2: Benny Anderson's studio in Stockholm. Did the abbat energy rub
- 15:26Speaker 2: off at all on you guys? Or maybe weave its
- 15:29Speaker 2: way into the music in unexpected ways.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Maybe we'll see that, you know, maybe forty years down
- 15:37Speaker 1: the line, we'll see if they're hits like other songs,
- 15:39Speaker 1: you know, yeah, so maybe yeah, yeah.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Beautiful and being in a band with your brother, how
- 15:46Speaker 3: is that? Do you? Guys?
- 15:47Speaker 2: Like, has your respect for each other grown because you've
- 15:50Speaker 2: been together for.
- 15:51Speaker 3: So long or.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Maybe I mean you're part of something where you do stuff.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I mean, he's great at what he's doing, and that's impressive. Yeah,
- 16:07Speaker 1: you know, I know that he's you know, he's a
- 16:09Speaker 1: master of his trade, you know, so I think yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 1: But I mean it's also a thing that you sort
- 16:15Speaker 1: of did together, so I mean, and it's not just
- 16:17Speaker 1: him and me, you know, there's the other members of
- 16:19Speaker 1: the band, as well. I mean there is sort of
- 16:22Speaker 1: a brother connection between all of us, I think, so
- 16:25Speaker 1: we kind of argue as brothers do.
- 16:28Speaker 4: All of us.
- 16:29Speaker 1: You know, maybe mine and Palace arguing is a bit
- 16:31Speaker 1: more harsh because you're you know, blood brothers. But it's,
- 16:37Speaker 1: you know, I'm impressed by all the other guys, you know,
- 16:40Speaker 1: I think they're amazing, you know, at what they do,
- 16:42Speaker 1: you know, and I'm just the part, you know, putting
- 16:46Speaker 1: my two sons in there, you know.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Yeah, obviously you guys all do you know, really respect
- 16:52Speaker 2: each other and you can work out arguments and things
- 16:54Speaker 2: like that because you guys have been going for so long,
- 16:57Speaker 2: since he was so young as well.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, And I mean it's not really like sometimes
- 17:04Speaker 1: we'll have arguments that will go on for kind of
- 17:06Speaker 1: a long time. But it's the thing that you know,
- 17:09Speaker 1: sort of binds us together is that we all want
- 17:11Speaker 1: to do the Hives, you know, Yeah, which is a
- 17:14Speaker 1: good thing for us, you know, it's you know, the
- 17:16Speaker 1: best thing we've had, you know.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, lovely.
- 17:20Speaker 2: And lastly, you're touring as special guests with my Chemical
- 17:23Speaker 2: Romance next year, which is exciting for me because they
- 17:25Speaker 2: are another one of my all time favorite bands. What
- 17:28Speaker 2: are you most looking forward to about hitting the road
- 17:30Speaker 2: with them.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Well, let's you know that they're doing a proper you know,
- 17:36Speaker 1: sort of stadium tour or whatever it is, stadiums, I
- 17:41Speaker 1: don't really know.
- 17:42Speaker 4: It's in South America. Would be fun.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Like any South American touring is great for us. And
- 17:47Speaker 1: whenever we support bands, we usually do really well. I
- 17:49Speaker 1: mean we've done down there with We went down there
- 17:51Speaker 1: with the Arctic Monkeys for instance, and and it's been
- 17:55Speaker 1: it's been great every step of the way. And I
- 17:59Speaker 1: think just more of that, you know, meeting South American people,
- 18:02Speaker 1: you know, eating South American food, you know, playing South
- 18:04Speaker 1: American shows, you know, playing with them, you know, it
- 18:08Speaker 1: would be great.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Yeah, awesome, Nicholas, thank you so much for your time today.
- 18:13Speaker 3: It's been amazing getting to chat with you. Best of
- 18:15Speaker 3: luck for your first Aussie show tonight.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Thank you very much, Thank you so much.
