- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey everybody, it's Jeff.
- 0:01Speaker 2: I wanted to let you know we recorded this podcast
- 0:03Speaker 2: episode on Monday, September second, twenty twenty four. By the
- 0:06Speaker 2: time you hear this, some things may have changed here
- 0:08Speaker 2: or there, but we hope you enjoy the show. Welcome
- 0:31Speaker 2: to our Table Talk interview here at the Philadelphia Sports
- 0:34Speaker 2: Table podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly sports podcast
- 0:37Speaker 2: show in the world, over eleven years strong. We got
- 0:41Speaker 2: a great discussion coming your way today on Table Talk.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Haven't dove into the Philadelphia Flyers too too much during
- 0:47Speaker 2: the course of this summer, and for good reason, not
- 0:50Speaker 2: too too much happening with this team, and that's okay,
- 0:53Speaker 2: that is perfectly fine, But we did want to get
- 0:56Speaker 2: into this team and what some expectations are for the
- 0:59Speaker 2: Philadelphia fly heading into this coming season, because we're gonna
- 1:01Speaker 2: be end up seeing some hockey sooner or later here.
- 1:04Speaker 1: So let's get to our guests this week. Let's get
- 1:07Speaker 1: to the discussion.
- 1:07Speaker 2: It's gonna be a great one joining us this week
- 1:10Speaker 2: to get into this Philadelphia Flyers offseason, even though the
- 1:13Speaker 2: season really is around the corner.
- 1:15Speaker 1: You know him as Dan the fly Era Fan.
- 1:19Speaker 2: He is the co founder of Brotherly Puck and also
- 1:22Speaker 2: hear him over at Brotherly Pod as well at Dan
- 1:25Speaker 2: thefly Era fan on the Twitter dot com I should
- 1:29Speaker 2: say X dot com. It's not Twitter dot com anymore,
- 1:31Speaker 2: but it probably will take you there.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Anyway, We've got Dan ash Dan buddy, how you doing, man? Good?
- 1:37Speaker 3: Good to be back. I believe the last time I
- 1:39Speaker 3: was on was right before we were speculating whether or
- 1:42Speaker 3: not they were trade JVR at the Trade Deck Exactly.
- 1:44Speaker 1: It's been a while, man, it's been a while.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yes, a lot of fun changes too with regard to
- 1:51Speaker 2: this rebuild.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I mean, I'm so excited to see what this season
- 1:54Speaker 1: is gonna bring.
- 1:55Speaker 2: And not necessarily from a postseason expectation or anything like that.
- 2:00Speaker 2: You know, there's just optimism with regard to this rebuild.
- 2:03Speaker 2: And as I mentioned before, you know, with the season
- 2:06Speaker 2: being right around the corner, we're gonna we're gonna start
- 2:08Speaker 2: to see some games being played here. In September, you
- 2:11Speaker 2: got the you know, the rookies against rookies games up
- 2:13Speaker 2: at Lehigh Valley. So I wanted to get into what
- 2:18Speaker 2: this this offseason really has been. I wanted to get
- 2:20Speaker 2: into the consequential or maybe inconsequential off season of the
- 2:24Speaker 2: Philadelphia Flyers. So we all know the most consequential thing
- 2:28Speaker 2: that happened with the Flyers this offseasons obviously been mattve
- 2:31Speaker 2: Mitchkov joining the team. But aside from that, Dan, what
- 2:35Speaker 2: do you think has been the second, perhaps most consequential
- 2:39Speaker 2: or even maybe maybe inconsequential aspect of this Flyers offseason?
- 2:43Speaker 3: And why, Well, the most consequential is the fact that
- 2:48Speaker 3: they really didn't do much else besides Mitchkov. Right, it
- 2:51Speaker 3: was a very quiet summer in flyerland. You know, they
- 2:53Speaker 3: got rid of Atkinson and did not resign Mark Stall
- 2:56Speaker 3: and brought in Mitchkov and everyone else is coming back
- 3:00Speaker 3: more or less identical rosters. So they are clearly hoping
- 3:03Speaker 3: that some of the young guys that are already on
- 3:05Speaker 3: this team are going to get a boost playing with
- 3:07Speaker 3: Mitch Coobb and vice versa, and hopefully kind of re
- 3:10Speaker 3: establish you what they got with guys like Farraby and
- 3:12Speaker 3: Frost and some of the younger I see if they
- 3:14Speaker 3: can become more And they have to take their findings
- 3:17Speaker 3: this season, good, bad or ugly whatever they are, and
- 3:19Speaker 3: apply the changes in twenty twenty five. But having this
- 3:22Speaker 3: one year and seeing what this core can do with
- 3:25Speaker 3: Mitch Cobb before they make any decisions one way to
- 3:27Speaker 3: the other. It's not the sexiest option that they've ever DoD, no,
- 3:30Speaker 3: you know, But at the same time, I kind of
- 3:32Speaker 3: understand what they're doing. Hopefully now the pressure gets turned
- 3:35Speaker 3: up next summer for them to actually address whatever faults
- 3:38Speaker 3: they find this year.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I think that's an interesting word you just use, is pressure.
- 3:42Speaker 2: There isn't that much pressure right now because within a rebuild,
- 3:45Speaker 2: and we've seen this for a number of teams within
- 3:48Speaker 2: the NHL over the years, when that pressure of the
- 3:50Speaker 2: rebuild finally begins to manifest itself, we're not necessarily there
- 3:54Speaker 2: yet with the Flyers, which is why this upcoming season
- 3:56Speaker 2: is going to be so interesting see what pieces fall,
- 4:00Speaker 2: where they do fall, and what the puzzle really begins
- 4:04Speaker 2: to look like. And as we're talking about mitchkov here,
- 4:09Speaker 2: over the past couple months, we've been talking about on
- 4:12Speaker 2: this podcast platform how Flyers fans really need to have
- 4:15Speaker 2: some perspective on this kid who's coming into quite frankly,
- 4:18Speaker 2: a very bizarre type of situation that we don't see
- 4:21Speaker 2: very often, not just in Flyers Nation, but in the
- 4:23Speaker 2: NHL in general. And you also have a coach in
- 4:26Speaker 2: John Tortorella who isn't quite known for his development of
- 4:31Speaker 2: young players, and a team again within this rebuild with
- 4:35Speaker 2: not too too much pressure on it. Yet we need
- 4:39Speaker 2: to have some tempered expectations I believe of what Matt
- 4:41Speaker 2: Vade Mitchkov is going to do right out of the gate?
- 4:45Speaker 2: Am I correct in thinking that? Am I missing something?
- 4:47Speaker 2: What are your thoughts here?
- 4:49Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 4:49Speaker 3: And I guess one of the downfalls of them not
- 4:51Speaker 3: doing anything this summer in any kind of notable fashion
- 4:54Speaker 3: is that the pressure now kind of falls on Mitchkov
- 4:57Speaker 3: to produce. And you got you have to temper expectations.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I think after all these years of drafting and developing
- 5:05Speaker 3: and questionable prospect development and you know, one in a
- 5:08Speaker 3: million injuries and stuff like that. Yes, you know, you
- 5:11Speaker 3: got to keep the expectations low. I think everybody collectively
- 5:14Speaker 3: hopes that he's one hundred point player for the next
- 5:16Speaker 3: twenty years, right, Yes, But at some point, you know,
- 5:19Speaker 3: given the state of this team, given the lack of
- 5:22Speaker 3: you know, they were twenty six thranked offense with a
- 5:24Speaker 3: dead last rank power play for the third consecutive season.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yep.
- 5:27Speaker 3: You know, at some point it's like, is he going
- 5:29Speaker 3: to improve that by himself? Yeah, you'll probably see a spike.
- 5:32Speaker 3: But I think assuming this guy is going to walk
- 5:36Speaker 3: in and just be, you know, the new Sidney Crosby,
- 5:39Speaker 3: maybe calm down just a little bit until he plays
- 5:41Speaker 3: the game first, before you you know, start coordinating him
- 5:43Speaker 3: like that.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Absolutely. And you know, it's not the topics that I
- 5:47Speaker 1: sent to you, Dan, but I do.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I do want to kind of just a shift perspective,
- 5:50Speaker 2: not perspective necessarily, but I mean it's perspective to a
- 5:53Speaker 2: little bit or a little bit. Here is if you
- 5:56Speaker 2: go over to Brotherlypuck dot com, folks, Dan has been
- 5:59Speaker 2: doing a fantastic review of trades that the Flyers have
- 6:03Speaker 2: had with other teams over many, many years, and it
- 6:07Speaker 2: has been a fun exercise to actually read your content
- 6:10Speaker 2: over on brotherlypuck dot com in terms of, you know,
- 6:14Speaker 2: the Flyers trades with with Anaheim, you know, and recently,
- 6:18Speaker 2: of course, the big trade of getting rid of uh
- 6:23Speaker 2: uh cutter got Gattier. Oh my god, Godia, my god.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I can't even freaking speak here for God's sake anyway,
- 6:30Speaker 2: but you have so many great articles and in the
- 6:35Speaker 2: back and forth, like written specifically about trades with other
- 6:38Speaker 2: teams and the flyers I was waring. Can you just
- 6:40Speaker 2: like give me some insight into how you came about
- 6:44Speaker 2: wanting to do it, because it's been an incredible series
- 6:46Speaker 2: on Brotherlypuck dot Com.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Yeah, this is a series that I've had sitting on
- 6:52Speaker 3: the back burner for quite a few years. Okay, I
- 6:55Speaker 3: started working on it last summer, and I've been updating
- 6:58Speaker 3: it again this year with all of the you know,
- 7:00Speaker 3: over the last twelve twenty four months whatever it's been.
- 7:02Speaker 3: And yeah, it's it's a lot of fun going through
- 7:06Speaker 3: the history books and seeing how this stuff played out
- 7:09Speaker 3: at the times. You know, it all played out afterwards.
- 7:12Speaker 3: And you know, some teams they barely make trades with
- 7:14Speaker 3: it all. Some teams they're regular partners with you know,
- 7:17Speaker 3: all this stuff that goes into it. It's been a
- 7:19Speaker 3: lot of fun writing this series and keeping up with it,
- 7:22Speaker 3: and you know, updating everything for some of the most
- 7:25Speaker 3: recent trades, and yeah, done one for every team. A
- 7:27Speaker 3: lot of the defunct teams aren't around anymore. I've covered
- 7:30Speaker 3: for as well, so yeah, there are The entire series
- 7:32Speaker 3: is up on the website. There's a link to it
- 7:33Speaker 3: on the right side. There. The Philadelphia Flyers trade history
- 7:37Speaker 3: covers I believe every team except one, and I don't
- 7:39Speaker 3: remember which one I missed. I think was the Whalers.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Whalers up yet, Yeah, but everybody else should have should
- 7:45Speaker 3: have an article up for it.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Again, folks, brotherlypuck dot com. It's a fantastic series. It's
- 7:50Speaker 2: a fun series, and it really does go to show
- 7:52Speaker 2: Dan that during the course of an off season, teams
- 7:56Speaker 2: do think, just like the Philadelphia Flyers, we're gonna be
- 7:58Speaker 2: able to improve the roster, We're gonna be able to
- 8:00Speaker 2: get to the next level perhaps or fill in the
- 8:02Speaker 2: gaps with a specific trade. Sometimes it works out, sometimes
- 8:06Speaker 2: it doesn't work out. And I think when I'm reflecting
- 8:08Speaker 2: on this offseason with the Flyers right now, again we're
- 8:12Speaker 2: talking about, Okay, what is mitchkov going to be able
- 8:15Speaker 2: to produce? But I think the level of temperament that
- 8:20Speaker 2: this front office has it is so incredibly the opposite
- 8:24Speaker 2: of what we saw from the Chuck Fletcher regime. In
- 8:26Speaker 2: my opinion, you may have a different opinion about this,
- 8:29Speaker 2: but I like the direction of where the organization is
- 8:32Speaker 2: at right now because they're not just pulling the trigger.
- 8:35Speaker 2: It's not just let's make let's make money right off
- 8:38Speaker 2: the bat and bring in the shiny objects if we can.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Even though there are salary cap issues going on, I
- 8:43Speaker 2: think the temperament of this front office has been pretty
- 8:48Speaker 2: nice to be able to watch thus far.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, Fletcher was a loose cannon, you know. Yeah,
- 8:55Speaker 3: and you never knew what this guy was going to
- 8:59Speaker 3: do in terms of whether he's going to do a
- 9:01Speaker 3: bunch of things or a whole out of nothing at all.
- 9:03Speaker 3: And when it was a whole amount of nothing at all,
- 9:05Speaker 3: it was a lot of failures, right the JVR thing
- 9:08Speaker 3: we just talked about when we opened the show, And
- 9:10Speaker 3: you know, it feels like Briers being a little more
- 9:16Speaker 3: long winded here, long long and playing the long game.
- 9:20Speaker 3: I guess it's probably a better phrase for that. You know,
- 9:22Speaker 3: they didn't do anything this year, and a lot of
- 9:23Speaker 3: it did go back to the salary cap. You know,
- 9:25Speaker 3: they had screwed themselves essentially with the lingering Fletcher stuff
- 9:29Speaker 3: in some of the early Brier contracts. But on the whole,
- 9:32Speaker 3: you know, it does seem like they're they're waiting and
- 9:34Speaker 3: you know, On the flip side of that, as we
- 9:36Speaker 3: talked about with twenty twenty five, there's still is pressure
- 9:39Speaker 3: on Brier to see whether or not he's capable of
- 9:41Speaker 3: making that big move, of making that big addition, and
- 9:44Speaker 3: seeing whether or not he can be the GM to
- 9:46Speaker 3: build the team up, because the otherwise you're going to
- 9:48Speaker 3: sit in This kind of extalls to of sitting. We're
- 9:51Speaker 3: gonna draft randomly every year, and that's kind of it, right.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Not a whole lot else happens there. So he has
- 9:55Speaker 3: a lot to prove in terms of being able to
- 9:57Speaker 3: be a builder. But for the time being, you know,
- 9:59Speaker 3: sitting in New tri and not committing anything in any
- 10:02Speaker 3: kind of direction is not necessarily the worst approach that
- 10:04Speaker 3: they could have, absolutely absolutely all right. Well, as we're
- 10:07Speaker 3: moving along with the discussion here, it seems like the
- 10:10Speaker 3: Flyers first and second lines that we're going to see
- 10:12Speaker 3: this upcoming season maybe a bit interchangeable every now and
- 10:16Speaker 3: again when it comes to the amount of minutes played
- 10:19Speaker 3: by this crew, and there may be some experimentation of
- 10:22Speaker 3: course that we're going to be seeing. I'm looking forward
- 10:24Speaker 3: to seeing what comes of that. I keep thinking, you know,
- 10:27Speaker 3: what we might see from Morgan, Frost, and Travis Connectne,
- 10:30Speaker 3: especially as mitchkov you know, gets the feel for the
- 10:32Speaker 3: game over here in the NHL. How do you see
- 10:35Speaker 3: the first two lines really kind of taking shape and
- 10:38Speaker 3: who might work best with who this upcoming season. Yeah,
- 10:43Speaker 3: and there's a lot of interchangeability throughout this lineup, and
- 10:47Speaker 3: really you can probably argue the top nine as well,
- 10:49Speaker 3: throwing that third line with Frabi and Brink. You know,
- 10:52Speaker 3: they all have their strengths and weaknesses, you know, but
- 10:54Speaker 3: at the end of the day, is they're a lot
- 10:56Speaker 3: separating say Forester from Ferraby or Farabe from Brink or
- 10:59Speaker 3: you know a lot of those guys. It's it really
- 11:01Speaker 3: is all interchangeable. The center depth, it's unfortunate that they
- 11:04Speaker 3: didn't address that in any way, especially with the unknown
- 11:07Speaker 3: of how Sean Katurier can still hang at this point.
- 11:11Speaker 3: But you know, Frost is probably their top center. Theoretically,
- 11:15Speaker 3: Katurier is either going to be two or three, with
- 11:17Speaker 3: Lawton and Paling filling in the roles there. That is
- 11:20Speaker 3: a not very intimidating group at all. Intimidating at all,
- 11:24Speaker 3: But you know, you got a lot of wingers here
- 11:26Speaker 3: that that could be something and you know I've used
- 11:29Speaker 3: the expression before of a lot of robins but no
- 11:32Speaker 3: Batman to kind of tie them all together. Good. Yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 3: you know, maybe Mitch Cobb is the guy. Like you said,
- 11:38Speaker 3: we don't want to put that much pressure on him
- 11:39Speaker 3: at nineteen year old, out out of the gate immediately
- 11:41Speaker 3: to be that hundred point guy. But you know, it's
- 11:44Speaker 3: not a bad thing that you've got all this interchangeability
- 11:47Speaker 3: through lineup, but it may not be a great thing
- 11:49Speaker 3: either because you're missing that top line of point per
- 11:52Speaker 3: game players to kind of help produce everything. Yeah, if
- 11:55Speaker 3: you had a top line of you know, eighty point
- 11:57Speaker 3: guys and everybody else was in the forty fifty to
- 11:58Speaker 3: sixty range, hey, you know, more power to you. But
- 12:01Speaker 3: other than that, when there's not much separating your first
- 12:03Speaker 3: line from your third line, anybody could get hot at
- 12:06Speaker 3: an even time and carry the team. But if they're
- 12:08Speaker 3: collective ceilings top out around fifty points, you know, it's
- 12:12Speaker 3: a little bit disappointing and does limit their offense as
- 12:14Speaker 3: a whole.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Absolutely again, folks, we're talking to Dan ash You know
- 12:17Speaker 2: him on the Twitter slash x Dan the fly Era fan.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Give him a follow, and like we were talking about earlier.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Check out everything he has going on over at Brotherlypuck
- 12:27Speaker 2: dot com. Check out the Brotherly Pod podcast as well.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Subscribe there and you're gonna get some great, Great Flyers content.
- 12:34Speaker 2: And as we're moving along here with the discussion, Dan,
- 12:38Speaker 2: I wanted to get into defense a little bit, specifically
- 12:40Speaker 2: with regard to Jamie Drysdale as one of those defensemen
- 12:43Speaker 2: on this team that I think could really take some
- 12:45Speaker 2: positive steps forward this coming season. Whoever he's paired with
- 12:50Speaker 2: is going to determine I think so much of how
- 12:52Speaker 2: his season is going to go.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I'm thinking it.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Probably should be Nick Stealer at this point. And again,
- 12:58Speaker 2: you know things can happens as the season moves along,
- 13:02Speaker 2: But overall, I wanted to get your thoughts on what
- 13:03Speaker 2: we may see from Jamie Drysdale in terms of him
- 13:06Speaker 2: taking steps forward this coming season. We know there's been injuries,
- 13:10Speaker 2: we know that there has been a bit of disappointment
- 13:12Speaker 2: from him here in Philadelphia since he is since he
- 13:16Speaker 2: was acquired. I don't know, do you think that he
- 13:20Speaker 2: is going to be taking some steps forward the season
- 13:22Speaker 2: based on who's.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Going to be paired with. What are your thoughts?
- 13:25Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, high draft pick originally, and the two
- 13:28Speaker 3: things we kind of knew about him coming from Anaheim
- 13:30Speaker 3: was that he wasn't quite living up to the lofty expectations,
- 13:33Speaker 3: that he was injured a lot. Yeah, he shows up
- 13:35Speaker 3: to Philadelphia and we kind of get both of that, right.
- 13:37Speaker 3: I think maybe the play maybe the symptom of the
- 13:40Speaker 3: injury that he was dealing with. You supposedly had hernia surgery.
- 13:44Speaker 3: I believe it was during the off seasons. I'm gonna
- 13:46Speaker 3: core muscle repair there, so it may take him a
- 13:48Speaker 3: minute to get out of the gate. We've seen that
- 13:50Speaker 3: hamper players, you know, throughout the years around here, so
- 13:53Speaker 3: it's not totally uncommon. But you know, clearly, being that
- 13:56Speaker 3: he's the spiritual successor to Cutter Gachier, they really need
- 14:00Speaker 3: him to pan out. And you know, I guess they
- 14:02Speaker 3: like Stanheim on the right side. He did the well
- 14:05Speaker 3: there with Cam York last year. You know, probably theoretically
- 14:08Speaker 3: in the long run, you would want York in Drysdale
- 14:10Speaker 3: to be your young top pair for the next decade.
- 14:13Speaker 3: But you know, they do seem content playing him with
- 14:15Speaker 3: the stealer for the time being, which is not necessarily
- 14:17Speaker 3: a bad thing provided Nick Steeler can keep his play
- 14:19Speaker 3: where it was at last year. Hopefully he can just
- 14:22Speaker 3: sign a big contract. So yep, you know, hopefully he
- 14:25Speaker 3: can can keep it going there. But yeah, I would
- 14:26Speaker 3: assume that they have a lot of eggs and Drysdale
- 14:29Speaker 3: hopefully the injury is kind of back off and we
- 14:31Speaker 3: can actually kind of see what he can bring to
- 14:33Speaker 3: the table as a player, because, you know, threat his
- 14:35Speaker 3: entire inntrol curre this far, you know, we really have
- 14:37Speaker 3: not been able to tell what he can do yet.
- 14:40Speaker 3: So if the injury subside, you're going to get a
- 14:42Speaker 3: better read on him. And I guess that's just the question. Now,
- 14:44Speaker 3: can the injury subside long enough for him to put
- 14:47Speaker 3: together a meaningful stretch of hockey where you can see
- 14:49Speaker 3: what his ceiling is as a player.
- 14:50Speaker 2: And I was just going to say, because he does
- 14:51Speaker 2: have a high ceiling, I think I believe he does
- 14:53Speaker 2: have a high seial. Sure, from everything we have known
- 14:56Speaker 2: about him since the draft, what was he sixth overall?
- 14:58Speaker 2: Six I believe you know, from what we have known
- 15:01Speaker 2: of his play on the ice, I think that ceiling
- 15:03Speaker 2: is pretty high.
- 15:04Speaker 1: You'd agree with that, correct.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, I think in terms of pure overall talent.
- 15:09Speaker 3: He's probably second on this team behind York. Yeah, in
- 15:12Speaker 3: the system as well, so they I'm sure they're really
- 15:15Speaker 3: hoping he pans out on this one. And you know,
- 15:18Speaker 3: if he can be that puck moving kind of guy
- 15:20Speaker 3: from the long term. I mean, he's only twenty two
- 15:22Speaker 3: right now, right, you know, I think we get that
- 15:24Speaker 3: track left.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Yes, I think people forget that for sure.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Well, Dan, before I let you go, buddy, and I
- 15:29Speaker 2: appreciate you taking the time to jump on our table
- 15:31Speaker 2: talk interview show this week here at the Philadelphia Sports
- 15:34Speaker 2: Table podcast show. I'd love to get your thoughts on
- 15:37Speaker 2: the goalie situation heading into this season in terms of
- 15:41Speaker 2: what we're going to see from this team and what
- 15:44Speaker 2: we may be seeing from the talent they're going to
- 15:46Speaker 2: be competing for some roles too. Sam Erson, as we know,
- 15:50Speaker 2: probably the guy right at the top, But how do
- 15:52Speaker 2: you see things playing out behind him in terms of
- 15:55Speaker 2: this goalie situation.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, the thing about the lack of change
- 16:00Speaker 3: is at forward or defense. Is the entire crux of
- 16:04Speaker 3: the success or failure of the season is going to
- 16:07Speaker 3: be the goaltending. Yeah, and you know, with sam Erson
- 16:11Speaker 3: both at the ahl NHL level, he has been lights out.
- 16:15Speaker 3: There have been stretches where he has looked phenomenal, yes,
- 16:18Speaker 3: and then you know, towards the end of last year,
- 16:20Speaker 3: a complete disaster. Fedotov at one point in time, not
- 16:24Speaker 3: all that long ago, was the best goaltending prospect in
- 16:27Speaker 3: the world. Then he got kidnapped and he played you know,
- 16:30Speaker 3: forty games over two and a half years or whatever
- 16:32Speaker 3: it was, and now he's twenty seven trying to adapt
- 16:34Speaker 3: to North America. That's it's a big ask, especially behind
- 16:37Speaker 3: a team that may not necessarily be the best.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Most nights.
- 16:40Speaker 3: You know, those two collectively with ers Peterson and Sonstrom
- 16:45Speaker 3: had the league worst say percentage after the other guy
- 16:47Speaker 3: left the team. So you know, it's been a rough
- 16:51Speaker 3: road for them. But theoretically their reason to believe Ersen
- 16:56Speaker 3: and Fedotov can be the guys, but there've already been
- 17:00Speaker 3: evidence and proof that they may not be the guys either.
- 17:03Speaker 3: You know, a whole Collisov stuff that he said, he
- 17:07Speaker 3: said story going on there. You know, even if he
- 17:10Speaker 3: comes back this year, which I mean he's under contract,
- 17:12Speaker 3: but nobody knows if he's going to return it on
- 17:14Speaker 3: as of this recording. Anyway, but even if he comes back,
- 17:18Speaker 3: he's twenty three, I believe we don't know whether he
- 17:21Speaker 3: can succeed in the North American level. You know, Cal
- 17:24Speaker 3: Peterson is just garbage. So there's there's a lot of
- 17:29Speaker 3: question marks going in there. But there's a lot of
- 17:30Speaker 3: reasons to believe as well if things break in a
- 17:33Speaker 3: positive manner here and Ersten can rise up and be
- 17:36Speaker 3: the starter, and Fetotov can be a decent backup, even
- 17:38Speaker 3: if it's a fifty to fifty split between the two,
- 17:40Speaker 3: so nobody gets run into the ground throughout the season, Like,
- 17:43Speaker 3: there's reason to hope here that things can turn out well.
- 17:45Speaker 3: But at the same time, you know, after the sample
- 17:47Speaker 3: size we had last year, man, if it goes downhill,
- 17:51Speaker 3: it could be ugly and they could be dead in
- 17:53Speaker 3: the water before they begin.
- 17:54Speaker 2: And I think having the reason to believe, we need
- 17:56Speaker 2: to keep that at the at the forefront of our
- 17:58Speaker 2: brain here.
- 17:59Speaker 1: We really do now, Yeah, for now.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Because really I think hope and that reason to believe,
- 18:04Speaker 2: I think we have that here and within Flyers Nation,
- 18:07Speaker 2: And I'm going to continue with that mentality here. And
- 18:10Speaker 2: I don't mean to necessarily be a cheerleader. We know
- 18:12Speaker 2: we know, you know what's been happening with this team
- 18:15Speaker 2: over the years, but it's good to see them in
- 18:17Speaker 2: a position to do a rebuild correctly. And I hope,
- 18:21Speaker 2: of course that that's what's going to be happening with
- 18:23Speaker 2: this Flyers team. And again, folks, dan esh Dan thefly
