- 0:17Speaker 1: our heart smile.
- 0:17Speaker 3: And you know what, it makes me want to do.
- 0:19Speaker 3: What makes me want to go, oh.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Oh, oh oh.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Scotty and Abby in the mornings are sitting here having
- 0:27Speaker 3: a cup of tea or spilling the tea, spill in
- 0:30Speaker 3: the gossip. I'll let you know that you can go
- 0:33Speaker 3: to bona Aru with Deep Box.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Beep Okay, okay, okay.
- 0:38Speaker 3: You know beat Bucks our new sponsor.

- 0:58Speaker 2: Which is crazy.
- 0:58Speaker 1: And then on top of that, going to give you
- 1:00Speaker 1: five hundred dollars in gas money so you can drive there.
- 1:02Speaker 2: So all of that is up.
- 1:03Speaker 1: On our website. All thanks to Beatbox for being part
- 1:06Speaker 1: of this podcast. It's my Magic ninety four to nine
- 1:08Speaker 1: dot com if you want to sign up for that trip.
- 1:11Speaker 1: But there's been so many things that have been happening
- 1:14Speaker 1: behind the scenes here that I'm so excited that we
- 1:16Speaker 1: get to dive into. But we also need updates, updates
- 1:20Speaker 1: on where the hell the text message has gone. So
- 1:23Speaker 1: on yesterday's podcast, we finally had the great news that,
- 1:28Speaker 1: you know, the dude that somebody was trying to hook
- 1:31Speaker 1: you up with here in the office, they sent you
- 1:34Speaker 1: a message.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I thought the curse had been lifted.
- 1:36Speaker 1: It seems like okay, because before we were going to
- 1:38Speaker 1: get in like a rabbi and a priest and a
- 1:40Speaker 1: shaman and just to clear the air in the studio.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I don't know what we might need those in general, Well,
- 1:44Speaker 2: that might.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Not be a bad idea. I just don't know what
- 1:46Speaker 1: you've done in your past.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I don't know either. I've been you know, I'm not
- 1:51Speaker 3: a perfect person, like I have trust me, like nobody
- 1:54Speaker 3: is a bigger hater of Abby Murphy than Abby Murphy.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Yikes.
- 1:56Speaker 3: But I really haven't done anything egregious to be warranted
- 2:01Speaker 3: this kind of treatment in my love life.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Because what has happened every other time, Like we've had
- 2:06Speaker 1: people that you've met over a good night, John Boy,
- 2:08Speaker 1: people that you've met over on what Bay shore, Bason
- 2:13Speaker 1: Bay shorts.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I just have this curse that I get the what's
- 2:18Speaker 3: the sport term, not the fifty yard line?
- 2:20Speaker 2: Like, oh, like the goal line.
- 2:21Speaker 3: I get to like the goal line, and I'm about
- 2:23Speaker 3: to cross the goal line, and then it's like the
- 2:25Speaker 3: universe just comes and sacks me. But like, I haven't
- 2:29Speaker 3: done anything. It's not like I'm some bumbling, awkward fool
- 2:32Speaker 3: and I keep fumbling at the at the goal line.
- 2:35Speaker 3: It's like the universe is just kind of like e psych.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It's like get your hopes up and never hear from
- 2:41Speaker 1: the gut. Like it's the weirdest thing. Because for guys,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and I understand, one of the biggest problems in dating
- 2:47Speaker 1: right now is guys we don't know how to approach
- 2:50Speaker 1: women or start a conversation, or we get a little
- 2:52Speaker 1: too nervous or in her head. And I do love
- 2:54Speaker 1: the one thing that Ivy always talks about is like
- 2:56Speaker 1: supporting guys on shooting their shot.
- 2:58Speaker 3: I'm a big proponent of a li allowing a man
- 3:00Speaker 3: to shoot a shot. I will never shame you in
- 3:02Speaker 3: public unless I'm really really drunk that I might like
- 3:05Speaker 3: let something slip. I'm like, it happens. It happens the bests.
- 3:08Speaker 3: But I have a pretty good record of always making
- 3:12Speaker 3: sure that I honor that person in the moment if
- 3:13Speaker 3: they asked me out or give me attention. I don't
- 3:15Speaker 3: ever want to shame you.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Yeah, which is super awesome because that's the thing that
- 3:18Speaker 1: we fear the most. It's like, I'm gonna go to
- 3:20Speaker 1: the bar, I'm gonna say hello, and you're gonna be
- 3:21Speaker 1: with the group of friends, and you're gonna look at
- 3:22Speaker 1: me like, who are you? Like, all right, well, I'm
- 3:25Speaker 1: a piece of crap. So I'm gona go ahead and
- 3:27Speaker 1: leave this situation now. But yesterday we came in We're like,
- 3:29Speaker 1: oh my god, the curse has been lifted. This guy
- 3:31Speaker 1: texted you. I don't even know what this guy looks like.
- 3:34Speaker 3: I didn't even know who this guy looked like until yesterday.
- 3:37Speaker 2: So what has happened in the past twenty four hours.
- 3:39Speaker 3: So this is the guy that I got set up
- 3:41Speaker 3: with by our coworker in sales. At the Raise game,
- 3:44Speaker 3: they had this mutual friend's son, and so I gave
- 3:47Speaker 3: this person my number literally a month ago, and I
- 3:50Speaker 3: hadn't heard anything. So I was like, okay, classic at
- 3:52Speaker 3: the goal line, like this person's interested, and then all
- 3:54Speaker 3: of a sudden, they're not. And so then I ran
- 3:56Speaker 3: into her mutual friend at this club on Friday, which
- 3:59Speaker 3: I think pushed things alat because then I heard from
- 4:00Speaker 3: him on Sunday. He was very enthusiastic. He said he
- 4:03Speaker 3: was very excited to meet me, and I was like, oh, okay,
- 4:05Speaker 3: I don't know why, but okay, you're a kid. And
- 4:08Speaker 3: so I told him that I have a pretty flexible schedule.
- 4:11Speaker 3: I just can't really stay out super late on weekdays.
- 4:14Speaker 3: And so I haven't heard from him. If you're listening
- 4:17Speaker 3: to this now, it's Wednesday, but we're recording this on
- 4:19Speaker 3: Tuesday morning. I still haven't heard from him. I texted
- 4:23Speaker 3: him Sunday night.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Was it only like two texts and to go back
- 4:26Speaker 2: and forth for a little.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Bit anything, I'll tell you what I said, because he
- 4:29Speaker 3: pulled up his name.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I always try to give the benefit of the doubt
- 4:33Speaker 1: of maybe they're busy and their job is really intensive
- 4:36Speaker 1: and they missed text messages. But then I think again,
- 4:38Speaker 1: and I'm like, man, when I was interested, I wasn't
- 4:41Speaker 1: missing a text.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Well, it's not that I don't think he's not interested,
- 4:44Speaker 3: because he sounds very interested. I mean, there's a lot
- 4:46Speaker 3: of exclamation points. He's been very complimentary. He said he's
- 4:49Speaker 3: been listening to the station allegedly. I don't know that
- 4:52Speaker 3: I believe that, because then he's like, sohu, do you
- 4:53Speaker 3: work nine to five. I'm like, well, I'm on the
- 4:56Speaker 3: air from six to ten, but maybe no. So I
- 5:00Speaker 3: brought that up. I went back to sales because I
- 5:01Speaker 3: was trying to find the person that set me up
- 5:03Speaker 3: with him to let him know, or to let her
- 5:05Speaker 3: know because she wanted updates. She's on vacation. So I
- 5:08Speaker 3: was back with a bunch of the other sales girls
- 5:09Speaker 3: and I was giving them the tea and one of
- 5:12Speaker 3: the sales ladies was like, oh, but they just like,
- 5:14Speaker 3: they don't know what we do. They don't work in radio.
- 5:16Speaker 3: I'm like, I feel like, if you hear me from
- 5:19Speaker 3: six to ten, you know, I'm probably on the air
- 5:22Speaker 3: and studio for Mixcent anyway. Whatever, It's fine, I'm nitpicking here,
- 5:26Speaker 3: but this person has just been very complimentary in the
- 5:28Speaker 3: text messages. I literally he said, I'd love to meet
- 5:31Speaker 3: you soon. I've heard a lot of positive things.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Ha ha, that sounds great. Think.
- 5:35Speaker 3: I was like, well, they're lying.
- 5:38Speaker 1: So but since then they haven't said anything else, like
- 5:41Speaker 1: I mean, you might have had a little back and forth,
- 5:43Speaker 1: but yeah, they're doing the same thing that we've seen
- 5:46Speaker 1: in the past.
- 5:46Speaker 3: They do the hard thing. They ask me out and
- 5:49Speaker 3: then I go, yeah, I would love to go out
- 5:50Speaker 3: with you, and then they go So I said, I'm
- 5:55Speaker 3: usually in from six to twelve is depending on the day.
- 5:58Speaker 3: And I said, that's so good to hear talking about
- 5:59Speaker 3: the positive things. And then I said, just let me
- 6:01Speaker 3: know one's good for you. I'm pretty flexible, but I
- 6:03Speaker 3: can't stay out too late on school nights. Huh. And
- 6:05Speaker 3: then I didn't hear from him. So then I started
- 6:08Speaker 3: kind of freaking out because I told you yesterday during
- 6:10Speaker 3: our recording, I actually don't know what this guy looks like.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I remember vaguely seeing a photo and my biggest turn
- 6:17Speaker 3: on is a guy with long brown hair like hockey hair.
- 6:21Speaker 3: All the guys in off campus.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I was going to say, all of those guys have
- 6:24Speaker 1: the best flow I have ever seen.
- 6:26Speaker 2: It's stupid.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Flow is my turn on, Like I honestly, you could
- 6:29Speaker 3: be five nine with good flow, and I'm like into it.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Well, first off, there's nothing wrong with five mins.
- 6:34Speaker 3: There's nothing wrong with five nights. But people always give
- 6:38Speaker 3: me a hard time for saying I only take guys
- 6:40Speaker 3: who are six foot taller. But like, literally, honestly, I
- 6:43Speaker 3: stand by that if you have good hair and good
- 6:45Speaker 3: muscles and a good job and you're nice to people, oh.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Wow, and a good family and a good background.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Family like animals, and maybe every now and then you pray,
- 6:54Speaker 1: it might help any work.
- 6:55Speaker 3: So anyway, I couldn't find this guy on social media.
- 6:58Speaker 3: I could not find him. And because we couldn't, I
- 7:01Speaker 3: couldn't figure out how to spell his last name. His
- 7:02Speaker 3: name isn't crazy different, but there are two different spellings.
- 7:06Speaker 3: It can either respell it this way or that way.
- 7:08Speaker 3: So I was back there with the sales leady yesterday
- 7:10Speaker 3: and they said, well, you can probably find him on Snapchat.
- 7:16Speaker 3: I was like, well, dear God, I mean I'm twenty nine,
- 7:18Speaker 3: and I hope, I hope he's not on Snapchat, but
- 7:20Speaker 3: they said you can probably find how to spell his name,
- 7:22Speaker 3: so shout out to our digital girl packson. He pulled
- 7:26Speaker 3: up Snapchat with me and I found him. It's Avatar's
- 7:29Speaker 3: a unicorn, by the way. I'm a little concerned. I'm kidding.
- 7:32Speaker 3: I got a little got a little bit of the ick.
- 7:33Speaker 3: But I saw that. But then I saw his username,
- 7:35Speaker 3: and then I found him on Facebook.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I am so interested in how the hell you found
- 7:40Speaker 1: him on Snapchat.
- 7:41Speaker 3: But because it links your contacts, it'll be like, oh,
- 7:43Speaker 3: if you have a new contact, it'll pull up their name.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Oh that's creepy.
- 7:46Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Did you have Snapchat on your phone before this moment?
- 7:49Speaker 3: Yeah? I mean I've had Snapchat since college, but I
- 7:51Speaker 3: don't go on Snapchat.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I had deleted that many moons ago.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I see friends open up snatchat and I like, look
- 7:56Speaker 1: away because I'm like, I don't know it's about to
- 7:58Speaker 1: pop up on your page.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I'm good, y'all dirty.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I like going on it to see my memories from
- 8:03Speaker 3: college because it always does this day in history thing.
- 8:06Speaker 3: I love seeing that. But other than that, I'm not
- 8:08Speaker 3: posting on snapchat. That's a university thing.
- 8:10Speaker 2: So you found him.
- 8:11Speaker 3: So I found him, And I think your reaction is
- 8:15Speaker 3: going to be the same reaction that I had when
- 8:17Speaker 3: I saw it, because it was such a visceral reaction
- 8:20Speaker 3: because I'm thinking, oh my god, did I say yes
- 8:23Speaker 3: to this gremlin. I don't really even know what he
- 8:25Speaker 3: looks like. I just know that he has good hair,
- 8:27Speaker 3: and that's my one thing. So I said yes. But
- 8:29Speaker 3: I was really tipsy when I saw this girl. So
- 8:31Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't know that I even think he's cute.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I think I just saw his hair and said.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yes, do is tipsy?
- 8:36Speaker 1: You have good Like Okay, let me go ahead. And
- 8:38Speaker 1: I say this because sometimes and we have a little
- 8:41Speaker 1: too much. I have like just I've made out with
- 8:44Speaker 1: people in my past that when I got sober, I
- 8:49Speaker 1: was like, Scott, what the hell.
- 8:50Speaker 2: What are you doing? You're doing? What the hell were
- 8:53Speaker 2: you thinking?
- 8:54Speaker 3: I haven't had a makeout with anybody I think is unattractive?
- 8:57Speaker 3: But yeah, maybe it makes you a little bit friendlier.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so it's like you're a little more open
- 9:02Speaker 1: to just possibility.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just the friendliest version of myself. And so
- 9:06Speaker 3: maybe friendly me wasn't being as discerning as sober Abby
- 9:09Speaker 3: would have been, because that so Rabby is very discerning.
- 9:12Speaker 2: That's very true.
- 9:13Speaker 3: So anyway, I'm gonna show you this his profile picture.
- 9:16Speaker 2: So I have not seen a picture of him yet.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Make sure your mike, because I want I want the
- 9:19Speaker 3: people to get your reaction. Okay, let me turn out
- 9:21Speaker 3: my brightness all the way.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Is it like a shirtless picture?
- 9:23Speaker 3: Hang on? Just are you ready?
- 9:24Speaker 2: I'm ready? Oh god, I'm so scared.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Three oh two one, Oh, oh.
- 9:32Speaker 1: My god, Holy crap. Okay, now that is like Jesus Christ.
- 9:39Speaker 1: That's a good looking man right there. Oh my god, that's.
- 9:43Speaker 3: That was my exact response. I think my exact response
- 9:45Speaker 3: was oh my god, because I was like, I just
- 9:48Speaker 3: hope he's I just hope I can look at him
- 9:50Speaker 3: and not be grossed out. And then I saw him.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I like, he's actually really odd.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I mean, this is like when Abby describes the guys
- 9:55Speaker 1: that she's into that that seems pretty damn spot on.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I did tall brunette m hmm with his mom
- 10:02Speaker 3: in front of a wine cellar.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I know, it's like he likes he has a good
- 10:05Speaker 2: relationship with his mom. He likes wine.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Oh and I found his mom's house. They lived on
- 10:08Speaker 3: the water.
- 10:09Speaker 2: You did not find it totally? Oh my god.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Well, because they said he bought a house, I was like, oh,
- 10:14Speaker 3: I wonder what. I was like, I wonder what his
- 10:16Speaker 3: house looks like. So I googled him and then the
- 10:18Speaker 3: first thing that comes up is their address. I didn't
- 10:20Speaker 3: have to look that hard. Long story short, and I
- 10:22Speaker 3: was like, oh, Christmas will be really fun next.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Year, kiddie. What else did you find out about this guy?
- 10:28Speaker 3: Literally that's it because that's the only photo he has posted.
- 10:31Speaker 3: And then I found and then I googled his name
- 10:33Speaker 3: and then the address came up, and then that's literally it.
- 10:35Speaker 2: So you did see his new house that he got.
- 10:37Speaker 3: No, I saw his. I think it's his parents house.
- 10:39Speaker 3: If I had to, if I had to give an
- 10:41Speaker 3: educated guest, that's his parents house.
- 10:42Speaker 1: This is so creepy, so it might get taken out.
- 10:44Speaker 1: But is it local.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's local mozzle Top mozele Top to them.
- 10:49Speaker 3: But that's I'm like, that's definitely his parents' house.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Oh yeah, absolutely.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Because I also found out that he's younger than me,
- 10:53Speaker 3: and so I was like, oh, my a little bit nervosa.
- 10:55Speaker 2: About that how much younger because I got a couple.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Of years, a couple of years, I.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Continued, and I think this is because I'm the younger
- 11:00Speaker 1: guy in my relationship. But like I continue to see
- 11:02Speaker 1: those stories of like ladies date a younger man.
- 11:06Speaker 3: You're only younger by like a year, a year, year.
- 11:08Speaker 2: And a half. Yeah, not much, But I don't know.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I think we just kind of bring an energy that
- 11:12Speaker 1: you know, you don't get from somebody that's older than you.
- 11:14Speaker 3: So it's more than a year and a half. I mean,
- 11:15Speaker 3: it's not like a crazy age guy. But he's twenty six. Okay,
- 11:18Speaker 3: that's nothing, So he does meet my twenty five rule.
- 11:20Speaker 3: I have a nobody under twenty five rule. If your
- 11:22Speaker 3: frontal lobe is not developed, I don't want anything to
- 11:24Speaker 3: do with you romantically.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta let them get to the stage. And
- 11:28Speaker 1: they also got to be established. Like that's the biggest thing,
- 11:30Speaker 1: is like have your stuff figured out so then we
- 11:33Speaker 1: could actually start properly dating. You're not trying to piece
- 11:36Speaker 1: together your life and like you're fumbling and maybe you're
- 11:40Speaker 1: you want somebody that actually could live up to the
- 11:42Speaker 1: standard that you're.
- 11:43Speaker 2: At right now.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Yeah, well I want them to be at the same
- 11:46Speaker 3: level as the twenty nine year olds and the thirty
- 11:48Speaker 3: year olds that I'm dating. And to be fair, everybody's
- 11:50Speaker 3: age is different. No thirty one year old is the
- 11:52Speaker 3: exact same maturity wise, Like, I've met guys who are
- 11:55Speaker 3: extremely immature who are in their forties.
- 11:57Speaker 2: So yeah, a lot of homes.
- 11:59Speaker 3: So it's not to say that is the only thing
- 12:01Speaker 3: you should be judging based off of maturity, but it's
- 12:03Speaker 3: a good litmus test. And because guys mature later than women,
- 12:06Speaker 3: I think the younger thing is also a little bit
- 12:08Speaker 3: freaky in the sense that like, okay, you're younger, and
- 12:11Speaker 3: statistically you're more immature. So it's just I'm a little
- 12:14Speaker 3: I'm cautious.
- 12:15Speaker 1: It's so funny because I don't know anything about this dude,
- 12:17Speaker 1: but already I'm like.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, it looks like a pretty mature guy. I
- 12:19Speaker 2: don't know why.
- 12:20Speaker 3: I mean, he looks like a man. Like I didn't
- 12:22Speaker 3: look at him and go, oh, that's a younger man
- 12:24Speaker 3: than me. I was like, oh, we would look about
- 12:26Speaker 3: the same age.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he dressed nice, he has a great body, he's
- 12:29Speaker 2: good hands, good hand he's for.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Sure listening to this.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Should we wave again? Jesus? I guess.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Well, here's the thing I was thinking about yesterday because
- 12:39Speaker 1: I was like, oh God, are we sabotaging any potential
- 12:41Speaker 1: dates because we talk about these things so publicly. But
- 12:44Speaker 1: the rule is, if you're gonna be with a personality like,
- 12:47Speaker 1: that's what it's like. So the person, whoever it is,
- 12:50Speaker 1: they're just gonna be cool with it.
- 12:51Speaker 3: I think I haven't been burned enough to feel super
- 12:56Speaker 3: cautious about it. I do feel like I am pretty
- 12:58Speaker 3: good about not talking about people once they're in my life.
- 13:00Speaker 3: I do think I've gotten better about that. But until
- 13:03Speaker 3: you're in my life, I think I feel a little
- 13:04Speaker 3: bit more free being like he he. And also, we're
- 13:07Speaker 3: being very complimentary to this guy. We're like, oh, he's hot,
- 13:09Speaker 3: he's great hands for real.
- 13:10Speaker 2: I'm like, all right, come on, now.
- 13:12Speaker 3: His parents have a nice house. Like, we're being very complimentary.
- 13:15Speaker 3: And at the end of the day, yeah, I guess
- 13:17Speaker 3: you do kind of need to know what you're getting into.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like this isn't bad at all, and then
- 13:20Speaker 1: you set the groundwork for what it looks like in
- 13:22Speaker 1: the future, Like not everything gets shared and you kind
- 13:24Speaker 1: of have those boundaries set up. Like that's the one
- 13:27Speaker 1: thing I've and I've talked about this before when I
- 13:29Speaker 1: first was on radio and I was first dating someone,
- 13:32Speaker 1: everything got put out in the air, our fights, family dynamics,
- 13:36Speaker 1: the problems in our relationships, to all the concerns.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Now, that's the wrong way to go about it. They
- 13:40Speaker 2: were not on board.
- 13:41Speaker 1: That is not what they signed up for because they
- 13:43Speaker 1: were with me before radio, and then they happened to
- 13:44Speaker 1: be with me as I got into radio. Now you
- 13:47Speaker 1: know person I'm with now, my girlfriend. They knew exactly
- 13:53Speaker 1: dat he's got a group now it's it's important that
- 13:56Speaker 1: they know what they're stepping into.
- 13:58Speaker 2: This is the world of sharing your life share And
- 14:00Speaker 2: that was.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Always like the biggest caveat, like they gotta be cool
- 14:03Speaker 1: with it or else this is going to be a
- 14:04Speaker 1: little awkward. And to try to get somebody on board
- 14:06Speaker 1: that's not going to be on board, you're just kind
- 14:08Speaker 1: of walking to the fire.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Don't want to do that.
- 14:11Speaker 1: So I hope that actually something happens with that guy,
- 14:13Speaker 1: because that guy seems great.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Well, we have a fun storyline and so listen, like
- 14:16Speaker 3: it's not like I've I've divulged everything we've ever talked
- 14:19Speaker 3: about ever, Like he asked me out. I found him
- 14:21Speaker 3: on Instagram or I found him on Facebook, found his
- 14:23Speaker 3: mom's house. I'm like, my guess is totally above board.
- 14:26Speaker 3: I found his ill a link and it's fine. Yeah,
- 14:28Speaker 3: fun type is O positive.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I mean when I was first talking to my now girlfriend,
- 14:33Speaker 1: she had a friend that run out a whole background
- 14:35Speaker 1: check on me.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Oh, like a literal background literal background check, you find
- 14:38Speaker 3: anything interesting.
- 14:39Speaker 2: No, there's nothing on me.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I am a straight laced dude, Like I've done some
- 14:43Speaker 1: wild stuff that is not in any public record. Luckily
- 14:46Speaker 1: I wasn't putting that on Snapchat. I did in college
- 14:48Speaker 1: things of you know, just going out my out adventures.
- 14:51Speaker 1: But I've never been arrested. I've gotten speaking tickets. I
- 14:54Speaker 1: think that's the only thing that they saw my record
- 14:56Speaker 1: and who hasn't exactly. But there's nothing like really bad there.
- 15:00Speaker 1: But it was kind of interesting because we talk about
- 15:02Speaker 1: how I mean, one women are like FBI agents, Oh.
- 15:05Speaker 3: For sure, I mean I literally it took me a while,
- 15:06Speaker 3: but I still found him.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Like we're us dudes, like we'll just kind of we
- 15:09Speaker 1: give up on it after like the first look, I
- 15:11Speaker 1: don't even know if I like really search, I'll like
- 15:12Speaker 1: go through your Instagram and that's it.
- 15:15Speaker 3: What Okay, this is a really interesting question. So you're
- 15:17Speaker 3: watching Off Campus, right. So one of my favorite parts
- 15:20Speaker 3: about that show is I think it is a perfect
- 15:24Speaker 3: snap into what it's like to date as a young
- 15:27Speaker 3: person in twenty twenty six because they show so much
- 15:29Speaker 3: social media of what you do when you go to somebody.
- 15:32Speaker 3: When you're like, have a crush on someone, you you
- 15:34Speaker 3: you find them on Instagram and then you started to
- 15:37Speaker 3: scrolling through. I'm wondering, what is the first thing you
- 15:40Speaker 3: noticed about your lady's Instagram when you found her.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I loved her personality in her pictures because it just
- 15:47Speaker 1: like they're Okay, there's one picture where she's like.
- 15:52Speaker 3: She is she got a broobs out. We pull up
- 15:55Speaker 3: her Instagram, we're thinking we're talking.
- 15:56Speaker 1: About she was seeking like an animal, but she was
- 15:59Speaker 1: doing it in a really fun anyway, where like she
- 16:00Speaker 1: had a carrot in her mouth and she was feeding
- 16:02Speaker 1: a horse.
- 16:03Speaker 2: That carrot, and I was like, this girl's fun.
- 16:06Speaker 1: That just shows like she's fun, she's goofy, she's down
- 16:09Speaker 1: to do things that are just like just different, not
- 16:11Speaker 1: your standard like, oh, look at me perfectly posed and
- 16:14Speaker 1: I have the perfect lighting. I wasn't looking for that.
- 16:18Speaker 1: But I mean there's other pictures too that I was like,
- 16:19Speaker 1: oh my god.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Yeah she's beautiful.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I know.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Do you feel any type of way now that people
- 16:24Speaker 3: have figured out who she is?
- 16:25Speaker 1: No, I mean I actually what I really like is
- 16:28Speaker 1: I like that I haven't even put it out there
- 16:30Speaker 1: fully because I mean we've had a couple of soft
- 16:32Speaker 1: launches and if you know, you know, like I don't
- 16:34Speaker 1: mind if people find out.
- 16:35Speaker 3: What the heck I didn't know if you were trying
- 16:37Speaker 3: to protect your privacy because a lot of people were
- 16:39Speaker 3: dming me this week and being like, oh my god,
- 16:40Speaker 3: I figured out who it is. Yeah, I figured out that.
- 16:42Speaker 3: I think confirm or do not.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I was just kind of like, no, people could definitely
- 16:46Speaker 1: know because again, like now it's one, it's official, so
- 16:49Speaker 1: I mean, that's going to be something that's going to
- 16:50Speaker 1: be shared. But I am and we are not, like
- 16:54Speaker 1: we don't need to just put it all out there.
- 16:55Speaker 1: It's kind of fun, like there's things that we could
- 16:57Speaker 1: just kind of keep in our own little bubble. Our
- 16:59Speaker 1: friends know, we know each other's friends. We're making plans
- 17:02Speaker 1: with friends like I love that. And then as time
- 17:04Speaker 1: goes on, eventually there will be the hard launch that's like, oh,
- 17:07Speaker 1: hello world.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Who do you have ideas on how you want a
- 17:09Speaker 3: hard launch?
- 17:10Speaker 1: Well, no, I don't, because I think there's gonna be
- 17:14Speaker 1: a lot of things that happen in the next couple
- 17:15Speaker 1: weeks and months that could probably even help.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Oh, like the wedding you're going to, Yeah, going to
- 17:19Speaker 3: a wedever wedding date or at least can you imagine
- 17:22Speaker 3: if you posted it with the caption wedding date for
- 17:25Speaker 3: the next six months?
- 17:27Speaker 2: Oh my god?
- 17:28Speaker 3: You god.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Well, I think what's fun is we have so many
- 17:30Speaker 1: photos that were like just months ago, and so in
- 17:34Speaker 1: my head, what I imagine is the hard launch will be like, oh,
- 17:37Speaker 1: here's actually what's been going on, and it's like boom,
- 17:41Speaker 1: like from March until now, until June and July, like
- 17:44Speaker 1: all these little moments that kind of add up to
- 17:47Speaker 1: what actually has been going on behind the scenes.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I think about those.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Things when I get a boyfriend, I'm really gonna drag
- 17:51Speaker 3: it out.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Well, that's why it's kind of fun.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Like that's why I say, like, I like sharing the
- 17:55Speaker 1: stories here of what we've done. But also it's kind
- 17:58Speaker 1: of nice not having everything out there for everyone to
- 18:02Speaker 1: make comments on, for everyone to have their opinion on.
- 18:04Speaker 2: It's kind of cool.
- 18:05Speaker 1: And I feel like very safe with the podcast fam
- 18:07Speaker 1: because a one, like, I'm already getting messages from people
- 18:11Speaker 1: about the last episode where I got to announce, and.
- 18:13Speaker 2: They're just like super excited, super supportive. Yeah, they're the best,
- 18:16Speaker 2: And I'm like, thank you, Like that's awesome.
- 18:18Speaker 1: That's the kind of support that I would want to
- 18:21Speaker 1: have because you all get the full story here. It's
- 18:23Speaker 1: not just a quick little hit on the radio show
- 18:26Speaker 1: of like all right, by the way.
- 18:27Speaker 2: It's official, middle official, and it's like cut into one minute.
- 18:30Speaker 1: No, you guys get to hear the whole entire run
- 18:32Speaker 1: through of where it started, where it is now. And
- 18:35Speaker 1: so I like that side we could actually support the
- 18:37Speaker 1: whole story.
- 18:38Speaker 2: It's beautiful.
- 18:38Speaker 3: It's been a beautiful story to follow.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Scott Ward, thank you.
- 18:41Speaker 1: One of the things that we were talking about behind
- 18:43Speaker 1: the scenes and then you put on your Instagram was
- 18:45Speaker 1: your damn trip.
- 18:46Speaker 2: To get your car fixed. Oh my god.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Now I've been waiting to talk about this because this
- 18:49Speaker 1: is insanity because we've been joking in the studio as
- 18:53Speaker 1: like we were doing this whole money giveaway and it's like, ahy.
- 18:56Speaker 2: You got to go get your car fixed.
- 18:58Speaker 1: And you're like, I just don't feel like, you know,
- 19:00Speaker 1: spending that much money.
- 19:00Speaker 2: I'm like, how much money could it be? Because what
- 19:03Speaker 2: was it? It was just your AC.
- 19:04Speaker 3: So I haven't gotten my car service in a while.
- 19:07Speaker 3: I think the last time I got it service was
- 19:09Speaker 3: maybe November, and so it's been a minute and I've
- 19:12Speaker 3: been I've been I've been dragging it out because my
- 19:15Speaker 3: AC has been going out. And also, last time I
- 19:18Speaker 3: went to get my oil changed, the lady was like, oh,
- 19:20Speaker 3: your brake pads might need changing. So I just know.
- 19:23Speaker 3: I'm like, they already up charged you for xyz amount
- 19:26Speaker 3: of things. I'm like, the next time I go, I
- 19:27Speaker 3: need to be emotionally ready for a big bill. And
- 19:31Speaker 3: so I finally made an appointment because it's getting ungodly
- 19:35Speaker 3: hot in Tampa. I think it was ninety two yesterday, yes,
- 19:37Speaker 3: And so I was like, I physically can't sweat in
- 19:40Speaker 3: my car anymore. It started to become like a hygiene issue.
- 19:42Speaker 3: So hear me like, I'm like showing up the place
- 19:44Speaker 3: to sweaty. I'm like, I need to fix this. So
- 19:47Speaker 3: I take my car to a place which shall relate
- 19:51Speaker 3: your name, shall renit? What's the word? Shall remain nameless?
- 19:55Speaker 3: I feel like my brain is not working this week
- 19:57Speaker 3: shall remain nameless? And I I was fully prepared to
- 20:00Speaker 3: spend a couple hundred dollars, like I was thinking maybe
- 20:02Speaker 3: seventy eight hundred dollars max. So I roll up and
- 20:06Speaker 3: I'm already kind of in a bad mood because there
- 20:08Speaker 3: was a huge line and I'm calling the place. I'm like, hey,
- 20:11Speaker 3: do I like, do I bring my keys inside? Do
- 20:13Speaker 3: I sit in the car? So I was sitting in
- 20:15Speaker 3: my afty list car for like thirty minutes good, and
- 20:18Speaker 3: all of a sudden, this guy pulls up. He's like,
- 20:19Speaker 3: are you on the phone or something. I said no,
- 20:22Speaker 3: I'm I'm waiting for you to get my keys, and
- 20:24Speaker 3: he goes, what do you mean. I'm like, well, they
- 20:25Speaker 3: told me to, Like I mean, you were gonna come
- 20:27Speaker 3: get my keys and I and he was like, no,
- 20:28Speaker 3: you go inside and drop them off. So I was like,
- 20:30Speaker 3: so I'm sitting there, I'm like in a pool of sweat.
- 20:32Speaker 3: I go inside, good guy, and I'm like, I'm here
- 20:34Speaker 3: to drop off my car. So this guy at the
- 20:36Speaker 3: counter comes and starts, you know, he starts talking to
- 20:40Speaker 3: me about my car. He's like, so, what's going on.
- 20:41Speaker 3: I'm like, I just need my I'm I'm already kind
- 20:43Speaker 3: of on the defense if I'm honestly. First of all,
- 20:46Speaker 3: I'm a little pissed off because i just had there
- 20:47Speaker 3: for thirty minutes and I'm sweaty. Second of all, I'm
- 20:51Speaker 3: very much in fighter flight mode because i know, as
- 20:54Speaker 3: a young single woman of a certain age, I'm gonna
- 20:59Speaker 3: get taken in.
- 21:01Speaker 2: That's what I was gonna say.
- 21:02Speaker 1: It's like it's already automatic that whatever they say, because
- 21:05Speaker 1: and it's one, it's definitely enhanced because like all those
- 21:09Speaker 1: things that you just said, but especially for us that
- 21:11Speaker 1: don't know anything about cars, like this happened to me
- 21:13Speaker 1: just what two months ago.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I was like, damn it.
- 21:16Speaker 3: They know they know you don't know anything.
- 21:18Speaker 2: I have no idea what they're showing me. They show
- 21:20Speaker 2: me the oil stick, I don't know what the hell
- 21:21Speaker 2: the line is supposed to be. There's looks good. I'm like,
- 21:23Speaker 2: it looks good.
- 21:24Speaker 3: They're just bullshitty.
- 21:24Speaker 2: They can show that it's covered in ketchup and it
- 21:26Speaker 2: looks good.
- 21:27Speaker 3: No idea, So you should get McDonald's.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Like you're already at a disadvantage, which I would like
- 21:33Speaker 1: to say is not fair, but at the same time
- 21:36Speaker 1: it's I guess I could learn, but I could already
- 21:39Speaker 1: say I could understand that's not right.
- 21:40Speaker 3: You don't go to the doctor and expect to know
- 21:42Speaker 3: everything about your body, but you kind of have to
- 21:44Speaker 3: because sometimes the doctors don't know what they're doing. Like
- 21:46Speaker 3: I'm like, oh my God, might have to be responsible
- 21:48Speaker 3: for everything. Literally, Do I have to go to med
- 21:49Speaker 3: school too? So I need to go to mechanics school too?
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yes.
- 21:52Speaker 3: So I pull up and I'm trying to make it
- 21:54Speaker 3: very evident I am not the one today. I am
- 21:57Speaker 3: not the one or the two.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Don't f around.
- 21:59Speaker 3: I am not the one, two or three. So he's
- 22:01Speaker 3: talking to me. I'm like, I need my oil change
- 22:03Speaker 3: and there's something wrong with my AC. I think I'm
- 22:06Speaker 3: out of cooland and he goes, actually, it's free on.
- 22:08Speaker 3: And I look at him and I go, okay, whatever,
- 22:12Speaker 3: just fix it, and he goes, well, actually it's probably
- 22:15Speaker 3: not the free on. We have to go in and
- 22:16Speaker 3: we do d da da da da da da. And
- 22:17Speaker 3: I look at him and I go, how much is
- 22:18Speaker 3: that gonna cost? And he goes two hundred and fifty
- 22:20Speaker 3: dollars and I'm like, oh my god, they're already doing it,
- 22:23Speaker 3: Like he hasn't even looked inside my car and he's
- 22:25Speaker 3: already even faking. He's already charging me three hundred dollars
- 22:28Speaker 3: just because he has to inspect it. I'm like, shouldn't
- 22:30Speaker 3: the inspection be a part of this whole stick? So
- 22:33Speaker 3: I'm like whatever. So then I passed him over my
- 22:35Speaker 3: keys and to me, my keys are seven years old.
- 22:37Speaker 3: They're a little busted. And then he holds him up
- 22:40Speaker 3: and he dangles them in front of his face and
- 22:41Speaker 3: he goes, what's going on here? And I look at
- 22:43Speaker 3: him and I go they're broken. And I just am
- 22:46Speaker 3: so done. I'm like literally, I'm like, just look at
- 22:48Speaker 3: my car, put the free on in it, and then
- 22:50Speaker 3: call it aday a refrigerant.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Let's go, let's go.
- 22:52Speaker 3: So then he goes, so are you gonna be staying here?
- 22:54Speaker 3: Are you gonna be leaving? And I go I'm leaving.
- 22:57Speaker 3: I was like, I'm not the one today, do not
- 22:59Speaker 3: do not fuck with my credit card today.
- 23:01Speaker 2: I get that.
- 23:01Speaker 3: So I left and I thought, fuck, did I just
- 23:06Speaker 3: play that wrong? Because I'm like, is it better to
- 23:08Speaker 3: show don't call me with a big bill or are
- 23:10Speaker 3: they gonna now up charge me because he thinks I'm
- 23:12Speaker 3: a bitch.
- 23:13Speaker 1: I mean, they can't really necessarily do anything to your
- 23:16Speaker 1: car until you agree or sign on to it.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Well, but they can still give you a bigger quote
- 23:21Speaker 3: because they can say X y and z and z
- 23:24Speaker 3: y x or whatever. So I leave, I go to
- 23:28Speaker 3: my and I decide I'm gonna go to my house
- 23:29Speaker 3: and I'm just gonna get some work done. I'm gonna
- 23:31Speaker 3: binge off campus again.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Yeah that's right. Let me do something that makes me
- 23:33Speaker 2: feel good.
- 23:34Speaker 3: It's some enrichment time. So I go to my house
- 23:37Speaker 3: and then I forgot that I have a safety bar
- 23:40Speaker 3: on my front door so people can't break the door in.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Oh no, yep, And so I can't get into my garage,
- 23:47Speaker 3: which has the back door that's open. So I go
- 23:49Speaker 3: to my front door. I'm like, I don't have to
- 23:50Speaker 3: break my door down. So I'm trying to like get
- 23:52Speaker 3: in my cats. My cats are looking at me like, mom, mom,
- 23:54Speaker 3: come inside. I'm like, I look like I'm an intruder
- 23:56Speaker 3: trying to break into my house and I can't break
- 23:58Speaker 3: my door open. So I'm like, fuck, I'm to thank
- 24:00Speaker 3: god I had my laptop. I'm like, I'm gonnaugh to
- 24:02Speaker 3: go sit at DII Coffee down the street until they
- 24:05Speaker 3: call me, allegedly in two hours. So I sit there.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I get a coffee and girl cheese and I'm sitting
- 24:09Speaker 3: there watching The Testaments on Hulu, another good show. And
- 24:13Speaker 3: I'm sitting there and I'm just like, hey, they're gonna
- 24:16Speaker 3: call me. They're gonna call me. They gonna call me.
- 24:18Speaker 3: And then around like I think I left the place
- 24:22Speaker 3: of work where they were gonna go work on my
- 24:25Speaker 3: car at eleven fifteen. Oh boy, around two thirty, I
- 24:31Speaker 3: get a call from them and or I get the video,
- 24:34Speaker 3: you know how they send the video and they go
- 24:35Speaker 3: and then this is wrong, and then this is wrong,
- 24:37Speaker 3: and then this is wrong. Oh yeah, So I'm just like,
- 24:40Speaker 3: just tell me what the fucking quote is. Oh wait,
- 24:42Speaker 3: you pull it up.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm very sorry.
- 24:44Speaker 3: I'm not to give a pro tip for the women
- 24:45Speaker 3: as well, to like help you get out of a
- 24:47Speaker 3: situation like that.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Because you were on your Instagram and I was falling along.
- 24:49Speaker 1: It's like take a guess, and people are like three hundred,
- 24:52Speaker 1: oh yeah, five hundred.
- 24:53Speaker 3: So I'm like, entertain me while they're checking out my car,
- 24:56Speaker 3: So I take a selfie. I'm like, let me know
- 24:57Speaker 3: what you think they're gonna up charge me for. I'm
- 24:58Speaker 3: going in for an oil change. I should have specified
- 25:01Speaker 3: that something's also going out with my AC so people
- 25:03Speaker 3: could have given a more accurate guess. So, oh sorry,
- 25:07Speaker 3: I misspoke. At one twenty three, I got a text.
- 25:10Speaker 3: So the main concern today is the vehicle is going
- 25:12Speaker 3: to need an AC compressor installed after tax. They are
- 25:16Speaker 3: one thousand, four hundred and thirty four dollars. Okay, Jesus,
- 25:22Speaker 3: I do have one here and we can have an
- 25:23Speaker 3: installed and complete by five today. And so I did
- 25:27Speaker 3: something dumb which I will now never do again, and
- 25:30Speaker 3: I said, got it, go ahead with the repair because
- 25:32Speaker 3: I'm like, what am I going to say? Like you
- 25:34Speaker 3: if you're saying, I'm like, my AC needs to be fixed.
- 25:35Speaker 3: It's ninety two degrees in Tampa, Like there's is.
- 25:38Speaker 2: There any other option? Doesn't sound like it.
- 25:40Speaker 3: I'm like even if, like, what am I going to
- 25:42Speaker 3: do don't say don't fix my AC. I mean, I
- 25:44Speaker 3: guess I could take it somewhere else, but I'm kind
- 25:46Speaker 3: of like they know what they're I've been sitting here.
- 25:49Speaker 3: I just want my AC fixed, and I just want
- 25:50Speaker 3: this to be fucking done. Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 25:52Speaker 3: It's not going to get much lower than fourteen hundred
- 25:54Speaker 3: or whatever. So I said, got it, go ahead with
- 25:57Speaker 3: the repair. This is where I got pissed off. My apologies.
- 25:59Speaker 3: They did recommend the expansion valve to be replaced with
- 26:02Speaker 3: the compressor as well, so the total for the compressor
- 26:04Speaker 3: and expansion valve will be one eight hundred and fifty
- 26:07Speaker 3: five dollars and seventy two cents. Oh that's what pissed
- 26:10Speaker 3: That's what pissed me off because it felt like because
- 26:13Speaker 3: I was such an easy sell one more that they
- 26:15Speaker 3: were like, oh, actually we need one more thing. And
- 26:17Speaker 3: I that's when I got pissed. And then I put
- 26:19Speaker 3: it into AI. I put it into chat GBT. I said,
- 26:21Speaker 3: this is what they're saying is wrong with my car?
- 26:23Speaker 3: Do you think I'm getting scammed? Scammed? And so let
- 26:27Speaker 3: me actually, because this is what I did the last
- 26:29Speaker 3: time I went to get my car fixed.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I took a picture of the entire like write up,
- 26:34Speaker 1: and I was like, chat, what are the things that
- 26:35Speaker 1: are actually legit? And what are the things that I
- 26:37Speaker 1: got scammed on? I already already paid, and I was like,
- 26:40Speaker 1: for the most part, everything looks good except for this
- 26:43Speaker 1: kind of like fluid, this kind of thing that they
- 26:45Speaker 1: added in for a little extra value. I'm like, son
- 26:48Speaker 1: of a gun, I know, I know, for next time.
- 26:49Speaker 3: So I'm like, ultimately, like I don't have time to
- 26:51Speaker 3: call my dad, my dad, my dad, I love him,
- 26:53Speaker 3: but he's just kind of like so I'm like, my
- 26:56Speaker 3: Dad's not gonna be any help. I know, you know,
- 26:57Speaker 3: I'm a boyfriend that can go in and be like
- 26:58Speaker 3: what the bud? So I'm sitting there and I'm like,
- 27:01Speaker 3: so the only thing I do is go to my
- 27:02Speaker 3: boyfriend chat GBT. And I said, chat, Oh wait, chat GBT.
- 27:06Speaker 3: That's so good. Okay, So here's what happened. So I
- 27:10Speaker 3: sent a screenshot of the text message. I said, does
- 27:12Speaker 3: any of the sound legit or am I getting up charged?
- 27:14Speaker 3: AI said, this doesn't immediately scream scamm to me, but
- 27:18Speaker 3: it does sound like a a a high priced repair
- 27:21Speaker 3: that could potentially be inflated or at least broader than necessary.
- 27:24Speaker 3: A few things that stand out blah blah blah blah
- 27:26Speaker 3: blah blah blah blah blah. He said, the jump from
- 27:29Speaker 3: fourteen hundred to nineteen hundred after you already proved it
- 27:31Speaker 3: annoying but not inherently fake. It's possible to tech added
- 27:34Speaker 3: the valve after a deeper inspection. What does make me
- 27:37Speaker 3: cautious is they haven't mentioned and then all these other
- 27:40Speaker 3: things that they haven't mentioned. I was like, ah, so a,
- 27:42Speaker 3: I knows what it's talking about. So then it said
- 27:44Speaker 3: for your car, roughly speaking, an independent shop will probably
- 27:48Speaker 3: do this between one thousand and five hundred. So unfortunately,
- 27:51Speaker 3: this price is kind of believable. But then here's what
- 27:54Speaker 3: it did. It said you should text something back like
- 27:58Speaker 3: can you explain what's specif typically failed with the compressor
- 28:01Speaker 3: and why the expansion valve is also recommended? Was their
- 28:04Speaker 3: debris in the system? So I thought, at the very least,
- 28:06Speaker 3: I don't even know if that makes sense to a mechanic,
- 28:08Speaker 3: but I'm if I start asking questions, the aid the
- 28:11Speaker 3: price isn't gonna go up because they're not going to
- 28:12Speaker 3: fuck fuck me over again. True, and at the very
- 28:15Speaker 3: least they'll make me feel better about paying this price
- 28:17Speaker 3: because they will explain what's going on in my car.
- 28:20Speaker 3: So I send the tax and it takes how long
- 28:22Speaker 3: did it take? It took him a couple of minutes
- 28:24Speaker 3: to respond.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Because that's like kind of almost like a oh, they
- 28:27Speaker 1: actually are paying attention you are.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Doing Yeah, I want to show them like I'm not
- 28:30Speaker 3: the three, four or five today.
- 28:32Speaker 2: I'm the one, two and three.
- 28:34Speaker 3: So that before this is the response I got, I
- 28:36Speaker 3: can work with you on the price. I could save
- 28:38Speaker 3: around one hundred and fifty between the oil change and
- 28:40Speaker 3: the AC work and take off the shop fees, which
- 28:42Speaker 3: is an additional forty blah blah blah, so it'll be
- 28:44Speaker 3: somewhere around seventeen hundred tax out the door blah blah
- 28:47Speaker 3: blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. And I was like, Okay,
- 28:50Speaker 3: I got the price down. I mean, could I have
- 28:53Speaker 3: negotiated more? Sure, But at this point I was like,
- 28:55Speaker 3: I just want my fucking car back. Yes I was.
- 28:57Speaker 3: I'd been saying that coffee shop for about two and
- 28:59Speaker 3: a half hours at this point, and I was like,
- 29:00Speaker 3: I'm ready to stop sitting with these college kids.
- 29:03Speaker 1: This is okay now, if anybody is a mechanic or
- 29:05Speaker 1: works in that world, I almost wonder if they drag
- 29:08Speaker 1: out the time.
- 29:09Speaker 2: So it just exhausts you. So you just agree. And
- 29:12Speaker 2: I don't know if that's a technique. I just had
- 29:14Speaker 2: that thought that came to my mind, and I'm like,
- 29:15Speaker 2: damn if that is one.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I mean smart on the business, because who are you
- 29:19Speaker 1: gonna it's four o'clock you want your car back?
- 29:21Speaker 2: But that is soft up. If that's the.
- 29:23Speaker 3: Case, they know exactly what they're doing, and I know
- 29:25Speaker 3: that they scam people or upcharge you. And I'm not
- 29:27Speaker 3: saying it shouldn't have cost over a thousand, like if
- 29:29Speaker 3: there really was something wrong with my ac because my
- 29:32Speaker 3: car is about six and a half years old, Like
- 29:33Speaker 3: I'm not expecting for nothing to be wrong with it.
- 29:36Speaker 3: But at the same time, I'm like, I really do
- 29:38Speaker 3: feel like they are just taking advantage of my lack
- 29:40Speaker 3: of knowledge. And I just kind of didn't really know
- 29:43Speaker 3: what to do because I didn't like taking it to
- 29:45Speaker 3: an independent place. They took it to like a Jiffy
- 29:47Speaker 3: Lube or something last time around, and the same thing
- 29:49Speaker 3: kind of happened where they keep trying to upcharge you.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Oh and last time I went, they said there was
- 29:53Speaker 3: something wrong with my breaks, and these people said there
- 29:55Speaker 3: was nothing wrong with my breaks. So I'm like, who's
- 29:57Speaker 3: I feel like I'm meaning lied to constantly that I
- 30:00Speaker 3: I'm like, i hate going to the freaking car repair
- 30:03Speaker 3: people because I'm like, I know you were just stealing
- 30:05Speaker 3: my money. Like you're just stealing my money.
- 30:07Speaker 1: It's like you know your base things, and that's why
- 30:09Speaker 1: it's like, give me a write up. I'm gonna put
- 30:10Speaker 1: it in Chat. I'm gonna tell it to explain me everything.
- 30:13Speaker 1: And then one of the things I had on because
- 30:14Speaker 1: that's why I spent I was probably spent an extra
- 30:16Speaker 1: hundred dollars the last time because I was like, you
- 30:17Speaker 1: need this kind of like I'm gonna just call it
- 30:19Speaker 1: coolant for this one because it's coming liquid that they
- 30:21Speaker 1: ran through my system to clean the pipes. Yeah, I
- 30:23Speaker 1: had Chat told me afterwards, He's like, that's not really
- 30:26Speaker 1: doing anything. That's just an extra fifty bucks that you're
- 30:28Speaker 1: spending on your bill. Great, thanks, thanks, Chat. Now I'm
- 30:32Speaker 1: just fifty dollars cheap. I guess sometimes you just got
- 30:35Speaker 1: to pay the price, especially if you're gonna let it sit.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Because I did the same thing in my car. I
- 30:39Speaker 1: waited years before I got it properly serviced, and so
- 30:42Speaker 1: I walked out the door, same kind of deal eighteen
- 30:44Speaker 1: hundred dollars later, where I was like new brakes, new
- 30:47Speaker 1: air filters, new to all the things. I was like,
- 30:49Speaker 1: damn it, but now I feel very safe in my car.
- 30:52Speaker 1: It starts up fine, I got a new battery.
- 30:54Speaker 3: I was about saying, my car feels great when I
- 30:56Speaker 3: drive it. I was like, oh, this is why.
- 30:58Speaker 2: You take care of it exactly.
- 30:59Speaker 1: And I think it's just that bigger price when you
- 31:02Speaker 1: wait too long that you're like, this sucks. And it
- 31:04Speaker 1: does suck because you're like, who are you supposed to trust?
- 31:07Speaker 1: And how much time are you gonna search to find
- 31:09Speaker 1: the person that you can trust? Because at that point
- 31:11Speaker 1: you're like, yes, I'm seventeen hundred dollars in, but what
- 31:14Speaker 1: do I want to spend another week finding somebody that's
- 31:16Speaker 1: gonna charge me what fifteen hundred dollars?
- 31:19Speaker 3: That's what I mean. And because I'm not paying rent
- 31:21Speaker 3: and we did bonus that, I was like, I guess
- 31:23Speaker 3: my bonus is going towards my.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Freaking car, literally adulting to a t.
- 31:28Speaker 3: It was so annoying because I couldn't wait to set
- 31:29Speaker 3: up set Active as having another drop on Wednesday. I
- 31:31Speaker 3: was like, I'm gonna buy so much set Active Now
- 31:33Speaker 3: I can't because I have to pay for my car.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Yeah. I was like, I was in the same boat
- 31:38Speaker 1: with now my shoes. I feel like I'm getting on
- 31:40Speaker 1: a shoe game kick because I got these new shoes
- 31:43Speaker 1: and I'm.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Like, oh, this feels really good. I feel like I
- 31:44Speaker 2: look really good too. And I was like, let me
- 31:46Speaker 2: just look a little longer. I was like, Scott, stop,
- 31:48Speaker 2: like you hold back the beast. We're not making that much.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Let's know. I'm down.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Once you do it once or twice, you're like, ooh,
- 31:53Speaker 3: that wasn't that bad. Pay my credit card wasn't that
- 31:55Speaker 3: bad last time? I was like, is it a little
- 31:57Speaker 3: bit more?
- 31:58Speaker 1: I mean, the real problem is I got a new
- 32:00Speaker 1: phone that I haven't been able to log into my
- 32:02Speaker 1: credit cards like pay them all. Oh no, So I'm
- 32:04Speaker 1: like I'll do it eventually. So I don't even know
- 32:06Speaker 1: what I'm at right now. I'm kind of just going
- 32:08Speaker 1: with the win. But it just feels good, it's scary.
- 32:10Speaker 1: This is not the right financial advice. So this is
- 32:12Speaker 1: none of that.
- 32:13Speaker 3: It's just like a gut feeling for me. I'm like,
- 32:14Speaker 3: how much have I splurged this month?
- 32:16Speaker 1: Can I?
- 32:17Speaker 3: Can I just go for it?
- 32:19Speaker 1: Yeah? I did that way too many times last year
- 32:21Speaker 1: and it has been a very a lot of just
- 32:24Speaker 1: ground beef and rice kind of twenty twenty six.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Totally get that year because of it.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Nop, You know what, thanks doing all the things. Well,
- 32:32Speaker 2: that sucks. That really sucks to.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Walk in knowing that you're going to be taking advantage
- 32:37Speaker 1: of to walk out having to pay that price. But
- 32:40Speaker 1: is that your advice to the girlies to throw it
- 32:43Speaker 1: through chat first?
- 32:43Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, if you don't have a guide to
- 32:45Speaker 3: drop it off for you who knows anything about cars,
- 32:47Speaker 3: I mean, at the very least ask questions before just
- 32:50Speaker 3: paying the price, which is on me because I mean
- 32:52Speaker 3: I think a.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Lot you're supposed to ask, like you don't even know.
- 32:55Speaker 3: You don't even know what to ask. But I mean, yeah,
- 32:56Speaker 3: have a chat come up with a bullshit question for
- 32:58Speaker 3: you to at least look like you're you're not just
- 33:01Speaker 3: putting your credit card and calling it today. Because that's
- 33:03Speaker 3: what they pay their bills with, is people who just
- 33:05Speaker 3: don't want to deal with it anymore and go, well,
- 33:08Speaker 3: just ask a couple questions. You'll probably get the price down,
- 33:10Speaker 3: because I'm sure homeboy didn't expect Blondie McGee over here
- 33:13Speaker 3: to be like, so is there debris and the compressor
- 33:16Speaker 3: valve or whatever? Because I don't want to have to
- 33:18Speaker 3: explain it to you. They have fifteen other cars I
- 33:19Speaker 3: gotta get to.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Yeah, they're trying to get you in and out, even
- 33:21Speaker 1: though it takes that long and it wears you out.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Now is that tied into okay?
- 33:25Speaker 1: Because you had a list up on your Instagram of
- 33:27Speaker 1: all the things we need to talk about.
- 33:29Speaker 3: All the practical reasons I want a boyfriend that aren't romantic.
- 33:32Speaker 3: I've just gotten to the age where I don't even
- 33:34Speaker 3: really need a boyfriend for romantic purposes, although that would
- 33:37Speaker 3: be nice. I just want someone to share the burden
- 33:39Speaker 3: of capitalism with. Oh, and just life in general. I'm
- 33:43Speaker 3: just really fatigued doing life by myself. I'm am honest
- 33:45Speaker 3: with you.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I was thinking about that the other day, like I'm
- 33:47Speaker 1: not in the position right now obviously, like live with
- 33:50Speaker 1: my girlfriend, but that does sound great because you're splitting bills,
- 33:55Speaker 1: you're splitting housing. Because as I was like, I'm getting
- 33:58Speaker 1: ready to like switch up my living situation, and as
- 34:00Speaker 1: I was looking downtown.
- 34:01Speaker 2: I was like, oh my god, this is insanity.
- 34:06Speaker 1: By then if you had a second person and you're like,
- 34:08Speaker 1: oh wait, it's not about it and you're splitting it. Yeah,
- 34:09Speaker 1: and if you're living like you're living in the same room.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Because some people it's like, oh we gotta get the
- 34:14Speaker 1: two two. Now you got one person or two people
- 34:16Speaker 1: that live together. Now you're saving one on a one bedroom.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Now it's not that bad. That was kind of like, ah,
- 34:22Speaker 1: I get it down the line, or.
- 34:24Speaker 3: You can get the big one bedroom, the one bedroom
- 34:26Speaker 3: with the din.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to view. I want a view of
- 34:30Speaker 2: downtown on the top floor. I don't know if that's
- 34:32Speaker 2: ever gonna happen.
- 34:33Speaker 3: It will.
- 34:34Speaker 2: What was the abduction situation that happened?
- 34:37Speaker 3: Oh my god, this has happened. So I feel like
- 34:39Speaker 3: this episode just needs to be titled Abby Saves Women.
- 34:43Speaker 3: Abby saves women's money in their lives, because I think
- 34:48Speaker 3: I put myself in a really dangerous situation on Friday,
- 34:51Speaker 3: and it's it's sort of my fault for not accepting
- 34:54Speaker 3: men's help. Oh and this kind of goes along with
- 34:57Speaker 3: my list of reasons I would like a boyfriend. This
- 34:59Speaker 3: is they're not romantic.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Okay, because there is a situation.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Okay, let me take a step back as we have
- 35:06Speaker 1: gotten closer as we have done this show. Obviously, I
- 35:09Speaker 1: know you are an independent woman that handles her stuff,
- 35:12Speaker 1: but like, even like we would go to like lightning games,
- 35:14Speaker 1: he's like, all right, I'm gonna walk home, And like.
- 35:17Speaker 2: There's this part of me that's like I don't.
- 35:20Speaker 1: I know she can and she has and she will,
- 35:25Speaker 1: but I'm always like I don't know what to do
- 35:26Speaker 1: because I'm like I feel like I should walk with you,
- 35:30Speaker 1: I should drive you, because that feels like really dangerous.
- 35:34Speaker 3: Where's the offer, scotsh I mean.
- 35:36Speaker 1: That's where I struggle because I'm like, I don't know
- 35:38Speaker 1: if you want it. But then I think this is
- 35:40Speaker 1: gonna bring it to life that may be moving forward.
- 35:43Speaker 3: You do you're never gonna let a woman walk home
- 35:45Speaker 3: alone after I tell you the story.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Well then, but.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Here's the thing, Because I think I would like to
- 35:50Speaker 3: live in a world where danger doesn't have to exist
- 35:53Speaker 3: and I can can just live my life because nine
- 35:55Speaker 3: times out of ten you're gonna be okay. I think mentally,
- 35:57Speaker 3: I live in the nine times out of ten zone
- 36:00Speaker 3: when there's always the one tenth and I've put myself in.
- 36:04Speaker 3: I look back on my life and I go, yeah,
- 36:06Speaker 3: I should I have gotten killed that night, should have gotten murdered.
- 36:08Speaker 3: There's so many nights where I'm like, yeah, one hundred
- 36:10Speaker 3: percent could have gotten abducted that night. But because you're
- 36:12Speaker 3: not in the wrong situation, you're fine. You're in the
- 36:14Speaker 3: nine tenths. However, on All on Friday, I was in
- 36:18Speaker 3: the one tenth zone, and it's I've been I feel
- 36:20Speaker 3: like the older I've gotten, the more one tenth places
- 36:24Speaker 3: I've been in, because I've been in a lot of
- 36:25Speaker 3: situations where I'm like, I think I'm about to get abducted,
- 36:28Speaker 3: something to Faari's is about to happen, my drink gets drugged,
- 36:30Speaker 3: those kinds of things, like, Yeah, the older I get,
- 36:32Speaker 3: the more angry I get it men.
- 36:35Speaker 2: And it's very understandable just.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Because it have. I said this on the podcast before
- 36:41Speaker 3: where it is crazy that women are a majority of
- 36:44Speaker 3: women are attracted to their only natural predator.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Oh I think I've heard you say that before. Yeah,
- 36:48Speaker 2: it is.
- 36:49Speaker 3: It is wild. I'm like, I'm supposed to fall in
- 36:52Speaker 3: love with you, but some of you want to kill
- 36:54Speaker 3: me well or do other things, you know. So on
- 36:59Speaker 3: Friday I went to the Fire, which is this new
- 37:01Speaker 3: club that opened up near Eddiebe's, which is by the
- 37:03Speaker 3: International Mall and the airport. Yes, it's not in a
- 37:07Speaker 3: bad part of town, but.
- 37:09Speaker 2: That's a very popular town.
- 37:10Speaker 1: I mean everything that they built around the airport was
- 37:12Speaker 1: literally centered on the fact that people are coming here internationally.
- 37:14Speaker 1: That's why International Mall is poppet. Yeah, like that plays Rocks. Yeah,
- 37:19Speaker 1: it is the nicest mall that I've ever seen.
- 37:21Speaker 3: It's not in a bad part of town, like I'm not.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Where's like the sketchy area in Tampa.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Well, there's a couple of little pockets, like some people
- 37:27Speaker 1: think of different pockets of eboard could be sketchy or
- 37:29Speaker 1: like South Saint Pete has some sometimes like.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Rough areas or in that area.
- 37:34Speaker 1: By International it is around like a deep part of Tampa,
- 37:37Speaker 1: like around the stadium could sometimes be a little rough.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Different pockets of Tampa.
- 37:42Speaker 3: So there's there's some sketchy pockets of Tampa, but it's
- 37:44Speaker 3: a couple.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Of miles down, like, it's not really right there.
- 37:46Speaker 1: It's just I think what happens is it's just more populated,
- 37:49Speaker 1: so chances go higher.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Yes, So my opinion of this area is that it's
- 37:55Speaker 3: not that sketchy. Do I feel comfortable walking around alone mostly,
- 37:58Speaker 3: But I'm not thinking anything to ferries is gonna go
- 38:00Speaker 3: down from the five minutes it's gonna take me to
- 38:02Speaker 3: get to my car to or from my car to
- 38:05Speaker 3: the Sapphire. So I had spent a lot of money
- 38:08Speaker 3: on Ubers. I had just bought my new ac so
- 38:11Speaker 3: I'm about eighteen hundred dollars down. So I'm thinking, you
- 38:13Speaker 3: know what, I'll go to drive to the Staphire. So
- 38:17Speaker 3: the Sapphire is about twenty minutes away from my house.
- 38:18Speaker 3: I'm not really planning on drinking, so I decide to
- 38:21Speaker 3: park across the street at International Mall and parking lot F.
- 38:24Speaker 3: It's very well lit. There's not a lot of cars around,
- 38:27Speaker 3: but all I have to do is cross one big
- 38:29Speaker 3: road and then I'm at the Sapphire. So it's gonna
- 38:31Speaker 3: take me about five minutes to get there. I'm in heels,
- 38:34Speaker 3: so maybe six and a half minutes.
- 38:35Speaker 2: That sounds so uncomfortable just in general.
- 38:38Speaker 3: But anyway, so I park my car, I walk over,
- 38:41Speaker 3: no problem. It's around ten thirty PM. I stay there
- 38:45Speaker 3: until about one and I'm like, oka, I'm gonna go home.
- 38:47Speaker 3: I just want to sleep. And so I was with
- 38:51Speaker 3: a group of new friends that I'm making new business connections,
- 38:54Speaker 3: and he goes, let me walk you to your car,
- 38:56Speaker 3: like this is you know, this is a little bit
- 38:57Speaker 3: of a sketchy area. I'm like, no, it's like five minutes. Literally,
- 39:00Speaker 3: It's fine because coming from my perspective, I've lived alone
- 39:05Speaker 3: all my adult life. I lived in New York by myself.
- 39:07Speaker 3: I have ridden the subway at three am. I've walked
- 39:09Speaker 3: through at Central Park drunk. Like the five minute walk
- 39:12Speaker 3: from the Sapphire to my car.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Does not freak me out that crazy.
- 39:17Speaker 3: Now, granted, I leave the Sapphire and I do kind
- 39:20Speaker 3: of go just because as I get older and I've
- 39:23Speaker 3: been in sketchier situations, I just think it's harder for
- 39:26Speaker 3: me to be ignorant. So I start walking down the
- 39:32Speaker 3: street and I see somebody walking towards me, and I
- 39:35Speaker 3: can't really tell if they're well dressed, or if maybe
- 39:37Speaker 3: the a little sketchy. So I'm like, you know what,
- 39:38Speaker 3: me like, stand up by Eddiebe's for a second. So
- 39:40Speaker 3: I stand by Eddie Bee's for a second and I
- 39:44Speaker 3: wait for them to go away, and I don't see
- 39:45Speaker 3: them anymore. So I finally walk up to the street.
- 39:48Speaker 3: I cross the street. It's fine. There's really nobody out.
- 39:49Speaker 3: A couple of cars here and there, but again, this
- 39:51Speaker 3: is a very well lit area. I see a cop
- 39:54Speaker 3: car down the street. There's a couple of other cars
- 39:56Speaker 3: kind of like parked, and I'm like, oh, there might
- 39:57Speaker 3: be something to fairy is happening. But whatever, I'm like
- 40:00Speaker 3: five minutes for my car. All I have to do
- 40:01Speaker 3: is keep walking. So I get to the part where
- 40:03Speaker 3: I'm sort of in the middle of the street. There's
- 40:06Speaker 3: like not a sidewalk where I have to like turn
- 40:08Speaker 3: in to get to the parking lot, like you know
- 40:10Speaker 3: when you turn your car in to get a park
- 40:11Speaker 3: into the parking lot, and there's like that little section
- 40:13Speaker 3: of road so there's no sidewalk. So I'm like walking
- 40:16Speaker 3: on the road, but I'm walking in the direction where
- 40:18Speaker 3: a car would come at me.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you can see them coming if they were.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Going to come at me. So I'm on that side,
- 40:23Speaker 3: and then there's a road next to me where the
- 40:25Speaker 3: cars would be driving in the direction that I'm walking.
- 40:27Speaker 3: So as I'm walking in that part of the parking lot,
- 40:31Speaker 3: a dark gray Toyota Corolla pulls up and is about
- 40:35Speaker 3: to make a right turn into the parking lot, and
- 40:37Speaker 3: so I, of course I'm very on guard. I look
- 40:40Speaker 3: at the car window and I want to make sure
- 40:42Speaker 3: I'm in a safe position, not thinking, oh, yeah, this
- 40:44Speaker 3: is the car that's going to do something scary, like
- 40:46Speaker 3: they're probably just pulling into the parking lot. I don't know,
- 40:48Speaker 3: go do a drug deal or something.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Yeah, no casual drug deal, or there's some.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Restaurants down there. I have no idea what's going on.
- 40:53Speaker 3: So anyway, the car stops, and I see the driver
- 40:56Speaker 3: turn and look in my direction to make sure another
- 40:57Speaker 3: car is not coming. But then the the driver looks
- 41:00Speaker 3: at me, and so I stand flat on my tracks.
- 41:03Speaker 3: I look them directly in the eye to let them
- 41:05Speaker 3: know that I've seen them, and I'm like, I might
- 41:07Speaker 3: have to turn around. So I'm staring at the car
- 41:10Speaker 3: and the car doesn't move, and then the car moves
- 41:12Speaker 3: a little bit farther forward, and then the guy's head
- 41:15Speaker 3: turns even more so he is like facing me to
- 41:19Speaker 3: the point where it's like I see you. That's what
- 41:21Speaker 3: it feels like. And then I instantly step back. I
- 41:24Speaker 3: start walking the other direction. The Toyota Corolla drives kind
- 41:29Speaker 3: of slow, makes the right turn, but it's like clearly
- 41:32Speaker 3: going slow, and I'm watching the car. I'm walking in
- 41:35Speaker 3: the other direction, back towards Eddieb's, but I'm keeping an
- 41:38Speaker 3: eye on the car, and it just it's stopping and
- 41:40Speaker 3: then it will go a little bit slower, and it's
- 41:42Speaker 3: stopping and it's going a little bit slower, and I'm like,
- 41:45Speaker 3: oh my god, I'm I'm thinking like I might get caught,
- 41:48Speaker 3: like I've in really uncomfortable heels in a dress, Like
- 41:50Speaker 3: I might be take the hell off. So I keep walking.
- 41:54Speaker 3: And then finally the Toyota Corolla slowly keeps going in
- 41:57Speaker 3: the other direction. But the problem is it's going in
- 41:59Speaker 3: the direction of Mike. So I'm like, you know what,
- 42:02Speaker 3: I might just have to wait this out for a second.
- 42:04Speaker 3: So once the car is far enough and it gets
- 42:07Speaker 3: to a stop sign and it looks like it's gonna
- 42:09Speaker 3: go to a different part of the parking lot, I
- 42:10Speaker 3: turn back around and I start walking the other way.
- 42:12Speaker 3: And so I get to the part of the parking
- 42:15Speaker 3: lot to where I've kind of crossed a median to
- 42:17Speaker 3: where I'm out of that little section that connects you
- 42:20Speaker 3: to the road near Eddyev's in the parking lot. Yeah,
- 42:23Speaker 3: the Toyota Corolla turns around.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 42:27Speaker 3: I start freaking out at this point, and then I
- 42:29Speaker 3: also start noticing other cars that are in the parking lot.
- 42:31Speaker 3: I'm like, oh my god, what are these cars You're doing?
- 42:33Speaker 2: I keep doing at this hour.
- 42:34Speaker 3: I can see a cop car to my left, but
- 42:36Speaker 3: I mean I would have to like sprint to it,
- 42:38Speaker 3: like it's it's not the cop car can't see me.
- 42:40Speaker 3: I can see the cop car, but I'm, you know,
- 42:42Speaker 3: a little speck away from it. And so I just
- 42:44Speaker 3: see the Toyota Corolla start coming towards me, and so
- 42:48Speaker 3: I just take off. But the problem is I'm in
- 42:50Speaker 3: a section of the parking lot that's it's my car
- 42:52Speaker 3: is separated by another median.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Oh god.
- 42:54Speaker 3: And so I'm feeling a little bit like a sitting duck.
- 42:57Speaker 3: And so I start sprinting towards my car because I'm
- 43:00Speaker 3: like at this point, like I'm kind of cornered.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Are you actually like literally running, I'm literally running?
- 43:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, no, I'm explaining to God. So the Toyota
- 43:07Speaker 3: Corolla comes in my direction and it slows down, the
- 43:10Speaker 3: window goes, and the guy in the car yells something
- 43:14Speaker 3: at me. A gun in my head, couldn't tell you
- 43:16Speaker 3: what he said, but he yells something at me and
- 43:18Speaker 3: starts driving in the other direction and stops, and I
- 43:20Speaker 3: just book it. I'm like, I don't care what I
- 43:23Speaker 3: have to do. I'm getting in my fucking car.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah. Who rolls down their window at one am
- 43:28Speaker 2: and yells at it in a parking lot?
- 43:32Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm sure like, like all you see
- 43:35Speaker 1: is just your car?
- 43:36Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and I can see the I'm also I
- 43:38Speaker 3: see another car at one point that was kind of
- 43:40Speaker 3: parked on the side where it wasn't in a parking spot.
- 43:43Speaker 3: It was like parked along the sidewalk to the mall,
- 43:46Speaker 3: like you're gonna pick somebody up. And then one of
- 43:48Speaker 3: those cars all of a sudden gets out of break
- 43:51Speaker 3: at a park and starts coming in a direction towards me,
- 43:53Speaker 3: and I'm like, oh my god, I'm literally gonna get
- 43:56Speaker 3: going to get abducted or worse, And so I sprint
- 43:59Speaker 3: to my car. I sit down and locked the door.
- 44:01Speaker 3: And it's so crazy how in the moment you don't
- 44:04Speaker 3: you feel scared, but when you get that adrenaline crash
- 44:07Speaker 3: and your hands start to shake, oh yeah, and you're like,
- 44:10Speaker 3: oh my god, like I really was in a precarious situation.
- 44:14Speaker 3: And it's so funny because in that moment, I just
- 44:15Speaker 3: started blaming myself. I was like, I knew I should
- 44:17Speaker 3: have said yes to the guy walking me to my car,
- 44:20Speaker 3: Like why why did I parkle the way over here?
- 44:22Speaker 3: I should have parked closer. Why did I like not
- 44:24Speaker 3: just take the uber? Like is my life not worth
- 44:26Speaker 3: the fifty dollars uber? What's going on? And I just
- 44:28Speaker 3: got really mad. I just got really mad that I'd
- 44:32Speaker 3: also been in a club. And I also just get
- 44:34Speaker 3: kind of paranoid about like my drink getting drugged in
- 44:36Speaker 3: public too if I'm with people I don't know, And
- 44:39Speaker 3: so I was mad about that too. I was like,
- 44:40Speaker 3: I'm pissed that I can't just exist. I can't just
- 44:43Speaker 3: get a drink and not worry about somebody trying to
- 44:45Speaker 3: like rape me, and then I can't leave the club
- 44:47Speaker 3: where I think I'm gonna get raved and then walk
- 44:50Speaker 3: to my car and not worry about getting abducted and
- 44:52Speaker 3: sold into human trafficking because I'm near the airport. Like
- 44:54Speaker 3: I just I just got really angry. And then I
- 44:57Speaker 3: went home to the place where I live by myself,
- 44:59Speaker 3: where I have all these scuff marks on my fucking
- 45:01Speaker 3: door because I tried to break into my door because
- 45:05Speaker 3: I have to keep my safety bar because I don't
- 45:06Speaker 3: want somebody else breaking into my house to try and
- 45:09Speaker 3: abduct me. And I just got mad. I just got
- 45:11Speaker 3: really angry, and then I booke a self defense class. Yeah,
- 45:15Speaker 3: because I'm like, I don't want to feel is helpless,
- 45:17Speaker 3: you know.
- 45:17Speaker 1: I mean, it sucks that that is the reality because
- 45:19Speaker 1: it's the reality of so many and especially with women.
- 45:22Speaker 1: It's and it's very interesting that you say that, because
- 45:25Speaker 1: it's like, why are so many women anxious and have anxiety? Ah,
- 45:29Speaker 1: that maybe is a good reason why, Because everywhere you go,
- 45:32Speaker 1: no matter what time of day it is, no matter
- 45:33Speaker 1: where you live or a good part of town, you
- 45:36Speaker 1: feel like there's threats all around. Because nobody and no
- 45:40Speaker 1: history of time has ever proven differently this is supposed
- 45:44Speaker 1: to be the best time period that we're living in,
- 45:46Speaker 1: but we're still facing problems that we have faced the
- 45:49Speaker 1: entire human history timeline.
- 45:53Speaker 2: So that is extremely frustrating.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it was annoying, and I think I think as women,
- 45:57Speaker 3: we don't, especially as single women, correct, you don't realize
- 46:03Speaker 3: how much that takes a toll on you on your
- 46:06Speaker 3: everyday life. And you're like, you get kind of mad
- 46:08Speaker 3: at yourself, like why do I always feel on edg?
- 46:09Speaker 3: Why don't I always feel a little bit anxious about things?
- 46:11Speaker 3: Why can't I just like exist in a social setting
- 46:13Speaker 3: and not feel on edge? And it's because of shit
- 46:16Speaker 3: like this that constantly just lives in the back of
- 46:17Speaker 3: your mind, where you just always feel like you could
- 46:20Speaker 3: be a target at any random moment. It could be
- 46:23Speaker 3: in an uber in Columbia, been there, Yeah, could be
- 46:26Speaker 3: at a bar in Jacksonville, Florida where you legitimately get drugged.
- 46:29Speaker 2: You just don't know.
- 46:30Speaker 3: You just don't know. And I think, kind of to
- 46:32Speaker 3: swing it back to the joking statement I had earlier
- 46:34Speaker 3: about reasons I want a boyfriend that are more than
- 46:36Speaker 3: just romantic. It would be nice to have somebody in
- 46:39Speaker 3: my life that feels like they're looking out for me,
- 46:41Speaker 3: or like a guy I can call and be like, hey,
- 46:42Speaker 3: can you come pick me up? Like I didn't want
- 46:44Speaker 3: to take an uber. Can you just come pick me
- 46:45Speaker 3: up from the airport? He come pick me up from
- 46:46Speaker 3: the Sapphire? Can you go with me to the Sapphire
- 46:48Speaker 3: so I can just turn my brain off for a second.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think that was actually I mean, we
- 46:52Speaker 1: haven't even talked about off campus, but as one of
- 46:54Speaker 1: the best statements that I heard that show mention as
- 46:56Speaker 1: you need to make especially a woman feel safe, if
- 46:59Speaker 1: there's one priority as a and it doesn't matter like
- 47:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna use a man for example, but as a
- 47:04Speaker 1: man in a relationship with a friendship, like make your
- 47:06Speaker 1: partner feel safe. And when they said that, I was like, Oh,
- 47:08Speaker 1: this show isn't even like trying to be joky joky
- 47:10Speaker 1: with that the whole situation that.
- 47:11Speaker 2: They're trying to come over respect.
- 47:12Speaker 1: It was like I was like, that's exactly right, Like
- 47:14Speaker 1: that is the biggest priority. That then the standard that
- 47:17Speaker 1: I hold myself to, Like I don't need to be
- 47:19Speaker 1: starting fights in bars, but there's a presence that you know,
- 47:22Speaker 1: it's like Okay, I want you to feel safe. I
- 47:25Speaker 1: need you to feel safe, and I'll do anything in
- 47:27Speaker 1: order to make that because that is number one, especially
- 47:31Speaker 1: if you're walking around like always on edge.
- 47:34Speaker 2: But it's exhausting.
- 47:35Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I think if to your point, if you're
- 47:37Speaker 3: a guy and you're wondering why people are so obsessed
- 47:39Speaker 3: with this off campus series, I think it's because one
- 47:41Speaker 3: of the main plot points, and I guess this is
- 47:43Speaker 3: a minor spoiler. It's a plot point, but I mean
- 47:46Speaker 3: a little bit of a spoiler. The main characters drink
- 47:49Speaker 3: when she's in high school. Oh wait, I don't think
- 47:51Speaker 3: you've gotten there yet. Have you gotten there yet?
- 47:53Speaker 2: I mean they're explaining I already know how it.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Oh, so her a part of her trauma is that
- 47:58Speaker 3: in high school, her drink got drugged and she was
- 48:02Speaker 3: sexually assaulted at a party. Yeah. A part of the
- 48:04Speaker 3: appeal of the love interest is he looks out for
- 48:07Speaker 3: her and that helps her fall for him, and so
- 48:09Speaker 3: I think that's one of the reasons why I think
- 48:10Speaker 3: women are really resonating with the story. It's like everybody
- 48:13Speaker 3: wants to be in a situation where they feel like
- 48:14Speaker 3: they have that person that they can count On, and
- 48:16Speaker 3: I think that's what makes it so romantic. It is
- 48:19Speaker 3: touching on the really gritty, dirty parts about being a
- 48:22Speaker 3: lady and finding somebody that's willing to acknowledge that and
- 48:26Speaker 3: protect you from it.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean I really enjoyed the show for that reason.
- 48:30Speaker 1: I'm like, Wow, you guys are hitting on a lot
- 48:31Speaker 1: of big things that I think need to be talked
- 48:33Speaker 1: about a lot more. And it's kind of like to
- 48:35Speaker 1: your point of why are women walking around so anxious
- 48:37Speaker 1: on edge? Because that is going through your head all
- 48:40Speaker 1: the time. And that took me a long time to understand.
- 48:41Speaker 1: I didn't get it, especially in my early twenties. I
- 48:43Speaker 1: knew there was always like a realistic threat because nobody
- 48:48Speaker 1: has proven that ever differently, But then to hear the
- 48:51Speaker 1: stories from women where it's like, these things happen all
- 48:53Speaker 1: the time, even in the short amount of time that
- 48:54Speaker 1: we've really known each other, Abby, this is now a
- 48:56Speaker 1: handful of things where I'm like, oh my god, I
- 49:01Speaker 1: want to make sure one it's how do we keep
- 49:06Speaker 1: you safe?
- 49:07Speaker 2: Because I that's that's what I say, Like.
- 49:08Speaker 1: When we're going to a lightning game and you're walking
- 49:10Speaker 1: back home like, well, now, probably never let you walk home.
- 49:13Speaker 2: Now, I'm not gonna let that happen.
- 49:15Speaker 3: But that's part of the nine tenths time. Like I
- 49:17Speaker 3: was fine on that walk home.
- 49:18Speaker 2: Correct, but again it's all it takes is one.
- 49:20Speaker 3: But to be fair, like on that I remember on
- 49:22Speaker 3: that walk home, specifically that we were talking about, a
- 49:24Speaker 3: guy came up on a bike behind me and was
- 49:26Speaker 3: and you know, zoom past me and like started talking
- 49:28Speaker 3: to me. And I had to, like, you know, use
- 49:30Speaker 3: my survival schools and it was fine, but like you know,
- 49:33Speaker 3: it still happens. I want to give a steps in.
- 49:35Speaker 1: I mean that's I'd literally like, I you want to
- 49:37Speaker 1: get your steps in, even myself personally to carry something
- 49:42Speaker 1: for protection, whatever that may be. I say it to
- 49:45Speaker 1: you know, my my ex partner, my friend who's like,
- 49:48Speaker 1: you know, we have her dog.
- 49:50Speaker 2: I tell her.
- 49:50Speaker 1: One like walk walk with like pepper spray or something
- 49:54Speaker 1: for your safety. And also the side tangent, like if
- 49:58Speaker 1: there's a dog that comes charging y'all, because it's happened
- 50:00Speaker 1: to me like three times.
- 50:02Speaker 2: Ooh, I'm like, you're going to want.
- 50:04Speaker 1: To be protected because it's a very scary moment, but
- 50:06Speaker 1: also for your own personal protection. I know, if you're
- 50:08Speaker 1: walking around, I would always have something, especially as a
- 50:12Speaker 1: woman walking around in today's world.
- 50:14Speaker 3: Yeah, so I need to get something from my key chain.
- 50:16Speaker 3: Maybe a taser?
- 50:17Speaker 2: Yes, hell yeah done gun.
- 50:19Speaker 3: I don't know, because that's a big joy of mine.
- 50:21Speaker 3: I love walking around downtown. I love seeing the skyline,
- 50:23Speaker 3: I love seeing the water like that, I walking, even
- 50:27Speaker 3: though it would be nice to get a ride, I
- 50:28Speaker 3: find a lot of joy in walking from my house
- 50:31Speaker 3: to get to do things. And so I don't want
- 50:33Speaker 3: to give up that joy because you know, men want
- 50:36Speaker 3: to men want to kill me.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Yeah, because men are freaking creepy and there's so that's
- 50:40Speaker 1: what's so frustrated. And just last little point on this
- 50:42Speaker 1: because I was just talking to my girlfriend about it
- 50:44Speaker 1: and I get to hear, you know, these moments that happen,
- 50:46Speaker 1: and obviously it's.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Like, you have to live your life.
- 50:49Speaker 1: You have to walk, you have to do things downtown
- 50:51Speaker 1: like that shouldn't be taken away from you.
- 50:52Speaker 2: Yeah, what are you gonna do living your house a
- 50:53Speaker 2: whole time?
- 50:54Speaker 1: Like no, But it is freaking annoying that guys have
- 50:57Speaker 1: not gotten this through their thick ass skull that it's
- 51:00Speaker 1: very threatening to just holler something at a woman to
- 51:03Speaker 1: think that is somewhere we're gonna get like we're not
- 51:06Speaker 1: freaking monkeys on it, like hollering at each other.
- 51:09Speaker 2: To make sure that you see me, we're not peacocks.
- 51:11Speaker 1: I'm not trying to show you my feathers like you
- 51:13Speaker 1: want to be a big like a great dude, Like,
- 51:16Speaker 1: don't do that shit because it doesn't work. And there's
- 51:19Speaker 1: guys that will do it at bars at a young age,
- 51:20Speaker 1: or those guys that think it's cool to like drive
- 51:22Speaker 1: their car by and yell something. Put yourself in the
- 51:26Speaker 1: position as a person that's having somebody just yell something
- 51:28Speaker 1: at you.
- 51:30Speaker 2: What is you think?
- 51:30Speaker 1: What do you think your reaction is gonna be? You
- 51:32Speaker 1: think that's gonna be like, oh my god, I got
- 51:34Speaker 1: yelled at you. I'm about to die somebody. What are
- 51:37Speaker 1: you screaming sir at me? Like that is telling somebody God.
- 51:42Speaker 2: It's just it's insane.
- 51:43Speaker 1: To me that so many dudes still do that dumb
- 51:45Speaker 1: crap where it's like, guys be better and for the
- 51:49Speaker 1: good guys out there continue to work with other guys
- 51:52Speaker 1: to make sure that they know one what it looks
- 51:55Speaker 1: like to be a real man. Not this like fake
- 51:57Speaker 1: alpha crap, but also really make sure that when you're
- 52:01Speaker 1: with a group of women that you step up and
- 52:03Speaker 1: you be that that safety net, the person you can
- 52:05Speaker 1: rely on, the perfect shows up in the room and
- 52:08Speaker 1: shows the rest of the room you're not the one,
- 52:10Speaker 1: two or.
- 52:11Speaker 3: Three, four, five or six or seven or eight.
- 52:13Speaker 1: None of that crap, because you shouldn't have to walk
- 52:15Speaker 1: through the world. And I know this is not gonna
- 52:17Speaker 1: be the end all be all of it, but where
- 52:19Speaker 1: you just have to feel on edge all the time.
- 52:20Speaker 3: We're gonna solve we gender inequality on this episode of
- 52:24Speaker 3: the podcast.
- 52:25Speaker 1: It's just it's insane, And I do appreciate you sharing
- 52:28Speaker 1: that story because I think it's I think what's powerful
- 52:31Speaker 1: is you could get into that, oh the nine tenths
- 52:33Speaker 1: of the time, nine cents of the time, everything's fine.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Yeah, all it takes is one.
- 52:36Speaker 3: All it takes is one, And it's terrifying to be
- 52:38Speaker 3: in the one tenth.
- 52:39Speaker 2: That is terrifying.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Do you think that's like do you ever find it
- 52:42Speaker 1: like changing what you want to do going out and
- 52:45Speaker 1: doing all that stuff, or has change what you want
- 52:47Speaker 1: to bring with you when you do it?
- 52:48Speaker 3: You know, there's really nothing you can do except for
- 52:51Speaker 3: what can I do to make sure that if I'm
- 52:53Speaker 3: in that situation, I give my best I give myself
- 52:55Speaker 3: the best chance of survival. That's why when I travel,
- 52:58Speaker 3: I bring those strips that test to see if your
- 53:00Speaker 3: drink's been drugged or not. Or I mean I do
- 53:03Speaker 3: need to get some pepper spray or maybe one of
- 53:04Speaker 3: those flashlights that blinds things where you can like flash
- 53:07Speaker 3: the oh, or I can take a self defense class
- 53:10Speaker 3: because I don't. I'm at the end of the day,
- 53:12Speaker 3: like I I can't rely on somebody else, like I'm
- 53:15Speaker 3: moving through the world until I die, and I have
- 53:18Speaker 3: to be prepared for any situation, even if I'm with
- 53:20Speaker 3: somebody else, Like I could be with a group of
- 53:21Speaker 3: girls and something can happen, and I want to be
- 53:23Speaker 3: the one to kick their asses.
- 53:24Speaker 2: That's right, you don't kick somebody.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's like whatever you could do to
- 53:28Speaker 1: make yourself feel like a little extra protected. And I
- 53:30Speaker 1: had a girl here in Tampa that went super viral
- 53:32Speaker 1: because the think like a guy literally like tried to abduct
- 53:35Speaker 1: her in her own gym, in her apartment.
- 53:37Speaker 2: This story was massive.
- 53:38Speaker 1: We had her on the show at the same time
- 53:40Speaker 1: because luckily she beat the crap out of the dude, damn,
- 53:43Speaker 1: and it started this whole revolution in this area of
- 53:46Speaker 1: like women taking self defense classes learning how to protect
- 53:49Speaker 1: themselves because it was such a weird moment where you're
- 53:52Speaker 1: in your own apartment, your own apartment's gym, and a
- 53:55Speaker 1: guy just tries to literally tackle you to the ground.
- 53:57Speaker 3: You don't want to fuck with the gym girls, she
- 53:59Speaker 3: beat jump on his part. If I'm choosing a girl
- 54:02Speaker 3: to abduct, it's me. I'm like a hamstock. Actually, don't
- 54:07Speaker 3: fuck with me because I've I've foughten people before in
- 54:09Speaker 3: one but I mean it's because I'm scrappy, not because
- 54:12Speaker 3: I'm strong, and.
- 54:12Speaker 1: It's gonna be like taken. I will find you'll find you,
- 54:15Speaker 1: and I will kill you literally. Oh my gosh. Well,
- 54:19Speaker 1: if you ever are in that position again, if you
- 54:21Speaker 1: ever need a ride, you do have somebody you could call.
- 54:22Speaker 2: It is me, Thank you, That is I. You have
- 54:24Speaker 2: my number. There you go. I live close.
- 54:26Speaker 3: I'd rather my boyfriend pick me up though.
- 54:28Speaker 2: But until he comes along and.
- 54:30Speaker 3: Take me to the dealership so I don't get scammed again.
- 54:33Speaker 1: That I can't do because they scam me too. I know,
- 54:36Speaker 1: thank you for being part of the podcast. Thank you
- 54:38Speaker 1: for one being part of these bigger conversations too. And
- 54:40Speaker 1: if there's anything that resonates with you, always make sure
- 54:42Speaker 1: to just reach out and let us know, because sometimes
- 54:45Speaker 1: it feels like does that make sense at all?
- 54:48Speaker 2: But I think it did.
- 54:49Speaker 1: I really do appreciate all the reviews, all the ratings,
- 54:53Speaker 1: all the things that are helping with this podcast, and.
