A man lost his life in a tense confrontation with RCMP officers near Irricana, Alberta, Friday evening. Police responded to Highway 9 around 6:20 PM and encountered a male suspect, during which an officer discharged their weapon. Despite immediate medical efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is now leading an independent investigation, while the RCMP conduct their own internal review of training, policy, and officer conduct.
