Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus at the ten yard lives second and eight
- 0:08Speaker 1: free wide receivers. Now in motion is Bumpas left to right,
- 0:11Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line. He throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpus, and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. What folks,
- 0:34Speaker 1: this is Hot Talk with me, your host, Michael bump Is,
- 0:36Speaker 1: along with my producer Nasa Choby. The Seahawks beat the
- 0:39Speaker 1: Eagles seventeen and ninety, went down to Philly on the
- 0:42Speaker 1: road and got it done. There are six and o
- 0:44Speaker 1: on the road, the best road team in all the land.
- 0:46Speaker 1: And like always, we're bringing in Big Ray Roberts to
- 0:50Speaker 1: get some analysis. How you doing, Ray? I'm all right, buddy,
- 0:52Speaker 1: How are you doing this morning? Hey can't complain Hawks
- 0:55Speaker 1: get the wind. I'm sitting here chopping it up with
- 0:57Speaker 1: my boys. Life is great. First question I got for you, man,
- 1:02Speaker 1: how impressive has this defense been the last two weeks? Dude,
- 1:06Speaker 1: They've been playing some really good football. And the thing
- 1:08Speaker 1: that I like is the physicality of how they have
- 1:12Speaker 1: been playing up front. All the defensive linemen have really
- 1:15Speaker 1: been pulling their weight, and the thing that's cool is
- 1:19Speaker 1: that they're they're doing what they do best. So al
- 1:21Speaker 1: woods and pulling forward are like clogging up the middle
- 1:24Speaker 1: and the run game. Then you have now Ansa had
- 1:26Speaker 1: a sack and a half yesterday and so you know,
- 1:30Speaker 1: getting out to the quarterback and now even seekin Briffin
- 1:33Speaker 1: coming in and providing some speed and energy off the edge.
- 1:36Speaker 1: So everybody's kind of maximizing what it is they bring
- 1:40Speaker 1: to the table, and as a result, the whole defense
- 1:44Speaker 1: is playing well. I think Paul Morier pointed out yesterday
- 1:47Speaker 1: that even the secondary is even playing coverage better. So
- 1:50Speaker 1: all of that stuff equates to having a better defense
- 1:54Speaker 1: and better defensive outcomes. Well, you're an offensive lineman, you
- 1:57Speaker 1: block for the running backs, you protect the quarterback. How
- 2:00Speaker 1: important was it for Rashot Penny to have a game
- 2:03Speaker 1: like he did yesterday? You know, I think that's just
- 2:06Speaker 1: you know, obviously that's what why they drafted him in
- 2:09Speaker 1: the first round, Like he has that kind of that
- 2:11Speaker 1: home run ability, we just haven't been able to quite
- 2:14Speaker 1: see it. And based on you know information uh that
- 2:18Speaker 1: I found out over overnight, Uh, you know, they were
- 2:21Speaker 1: really interested in giving him more time yesterday based on
- 2:24Speaker 1: how he's been performing in practice, and so he really
- 2:27Speaker 1: rewarded them with a very solid football game yesterday, and
- 2:30Speaker 1: he had some very timely runs. The one big run
- 2:34Speaker 1: that he took to the house was a well executed
- 2:36Speaker 1: play that the Seals haven't run in a while. That's
- 2:38Speaker 1: they have a quick trap play and your party came
- 2:41Speaker 1: across and trapped the tackle and then um Affetti had
- 2:47Speaker 1: a nice sill block from the linebacker and even Hollister
- 2:50Speaker 1: kind of walled off the outside linebacker, which created a
- 2:53Speaker 1: nice wayne for Penny to just hit at full speed
- 2:56Speaker 1: and he didn't get really touched until he ran the
- 2:58Speaker 1: dude over at about the five our line to get
- 3:00Speaker 1: into the end zone. So it was really good to
- 3:02Speaker 1: see the execution of that play, but also to see
- 3:05Speaker 1: Penny be able to hit it and then show us
- 3:08Speaker 1: that speed that he had coming out of San Diego State. Yes, sir,
- 3:11Speaker 1: he talked about Shakeem Griffin a little earlier. It seems
- 3:15Speaker 1: like he kind of found his role on this defense.
- 3:17Speaker 1: He's kind of in that twinter Pete Carroll said, he's
- 3:19Speaker 1: like a twinter between actually a safety and linebacker, but
- 3:22Speaker 1: they use them on that edge. Do you like his
- 3:24Speaker 1: new role on this defense? You know what, Like you
- 3:27Speaker 1: have a guy with a lot of speed, and I'm
- 3:29Speaker 1: not gonna lie to you, like I kind of had
- 3:31Speaker 1: some skepticism like going into it, just because he's not
- 3:34Speaker 1: a very big dude. But if he just kind of
- 3:37Speaker 1: specializes on just really trying to use his speed around
- 3:40Speaker 1: the corner, I don't know, they don't get a handful
- 3:43Speaker 1: of sacks, but he'll get enough pressures and opportunities to
- 3:46Speaker 1: force the quarterback to have to step up, which then
- 3:48Speaker 1: gives the intire guys a little more opportunity to get
- 3:51Speaker 1: after the quarterback. So I liked what he did yesterday.
- 3:54Speaker 1: He was very disruptive, which is just as important as him,
- 3:58Speaker 1: you know, maybe getting sacked. But he had the one
- 4:00Speaker 1: bow up of the I don't know what they're trying
- 4:02Speaker 1: to do, the one play they were trying to run,
- 4:04Speaker 1: he blew it up and they fumbled and and Quinn
- 4:07Speaker 1: Jefferson picked up the ball, so he was very disruptive.
- 4:10Speaker 1: His energy is really good for the defense. His speed
- 4:14Speaker 1: is really good for the defense. So after having some
- 4:17Speaker 1: skepticism about it, I was pretty pleased with how he
- 4:19Speaker 1: performed yesterday. Nice Yesterday, Russell had an okay game, not
- 4:23Speaker 1: great numbers, but did enough to get the win. How
- 4:26Speaker 1: would you grade the overall performance of the offense yesterday,
- 4:30Speaker 1: you know what, like coming out out of the bye week,
- 4:33Speaker 1: with the way they were rolling all season long, I
- 4:36Speaker 1: would really have to give them Maybe because we got
- 4:39Speaker 1: to win, I guess I can elevate it to like
- 4:40Speaker 1: a B minus. But it was so up and down,
- 4:43Speaker 1: like they never seemed to really get into any kind
- 4:45Speaker 1: of rhythm. Uh they you know, they had it seemed
- 4:48Speaker 1: like they had first and twenty like a million times
- 4:50Speaker 1: and uh and so it was really hard to kind
- 4:52Speaker 1: of get into any kind of rhyl of the passing
- 4:54Speaker 1: game didn't seem to really come together. And then even
- 4:57Speaker 1: so the running game was a little choppy at but
- 5:01Speaker 1: they did enough to get to win. So I was
- 5:03Speaker 1: I would squeaking up to like a B minus and
- 5:05Speaker 1: I expect them to be a little bit more in
- 5:08Speaker 1: rhythm this week. I think I think maybe they were
- 5:10Speaker 1: just a little bit rusty coming out of the Bible
- 5:12Speaker 1: we can and to be honest with you, um, you know,
- 5:15Speaker 1: it isn't little shift in the mentality a little bit
- 5:19Speaker 1: when you go from Carson to Penny, because it's more
- 5:21Speaker 1: of a physical style with Carson and more of a
- 5:24Speaker 1: I don't want to say some mess but it's more
- 5:26Speaker 1: speed oriented when you go to to pinning. So I
- 5:30Speaker 1: think that may have kind of thrown off the mojo
- 5:32Speaker 1: just a little bit. But I expect them to get
- 5:34Speaker 1: back into the groove and Russell get back into the
- 5:36Speaker 1: groove this upcoming week. I feel it they need to
- 5:39Speaker 1: against these Vikings on Monday. The Hawks are six and
- 5:42Speaker 1: o on the row. I feel like they're not getting
- 5:44Speaker 1: enough hight. Do you feel that way as well? You know,
- 5:48Speaker 1: there's so many other teams, like you said, in the NFC,
- 5:51Speaker 1: there's three teams, three or four teams that are not
- 5:53Speaker 1: in two, and there's a lot of other people that
- 5:55Speaker 1: are doing like I catching kind of a thing. So
- 5:58Speaker 1: like you look at temsasco Lap like They're defense was
- 6:00Speaker 1: just unbelievable and the way they just kind of wiped
- 6:02Speaker 1: out Green Bay and you look at Lamar Jackson and
- 6:04Speaker 1: all the stuff. There's so many storylines this year that
- 6:08Speaker 1: are that are kind of eye catchers that the things
- 6:11Speaker 1: that are really consistent and just kind of people that
- 6:15Speaker 1: are just really consistent in what they do are kind
- 6:17Speaker 1: of getting sated to the background because of the shiny
- 6:20Speaker 1: objects that it's going on. So yeah, I do think
- 6:23Speaker 1: that they get overlooked a little bit. And then people
- 6:25Speaker 1: are still trying to figure out exactly you know, who
- 6:28Speaker 1: they are and what you know, what the defense is
- 6:31Speaker 1: and what the offenses and all these other kinds of things.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And but I think the consistency of how they play
- 6:38Speaker 1: gets overlooked because of it's getting overlooked by all the
- 6:41Speaker 1: other shiny objects in league. I understand that. So the
- 6:45Speaker 1: Hawks are nine and two going into a five game stress.
- 6:48Speaker 1: They got Minnesota on Monday, they go to LA they
- 6:52Speaker 1: go to Carolina Cardinals, and then finish at home against
- 6:55Speaker 1: the forty nine ers. How confident are you in this
- 6:58Speaker 1: football team right now? Well, you know what I had
- 7:01Speaker 1: at the beginning of the season. I had put them
- 7:04Speaker 1: down for nine wins, and I think they're gonna blow
- 7:08Speaker 1: that out of the water. I would imagine that in
- 7:10Speaker 1: most of those games going down the stretch, they're gonna
- 7:13Speaker 1: be favored to win. And uh, and so I have
- 7:15Speaker 1: a lot of confidence, and especially how they're playing on
- 7:18Speaker 1: defense now. And then obviously Russell is not gonna have
- 7:22Speaker 1: another quarterback rating in the seventies. He's always up around
- 7:25Speaker 1: the nineties or you know, in the over one hundred,
- 7:28Speaker 1: and so I think with that combination of Russell getting
- 7:32Speaker 1: back into his MVP rhythm and the defense of raising
- 7:35Speaker 1: their elevating elevating their play, I have a lot of
- 7:38Speaker 1: confidence that we're gonna win our share. I don't know
- 7:40Speaker 1: if we can run the table, but three and two, four,
- 7:43Speaker 1: you know, four and one, something like that down the stretch,
- 7:47Speaker 1: I can I can see that happening. Well, I'm right there,
- 7:50Speaker 1: which I hope you're right, Big Ray. Like, always appreciate
- 7:52Speaker 1: you taking time out your busy schedule to join us,
- 7:54Speaker 1: my man. Oh, always any time for you. Bumpus All right, man,
- 7:58Speaker 1: talk to you. See moving along, we're gonna get to
- 8:01Speaker 1: our main takeaways. What we learned from this game. One,
- 8:04Speaker 1: the Seahawks prove what we saw last week against the
- 8:07Speaker 1: forty nine ers was no Fluke Naz. This defense is real.
- 8:11Speaker 1: They're playing fast and they're out there hitting guys and
- 8:13Speaker 1: turn the ball over. Well, you love to see it too,
- 8:15Speaker 1: because like it's they get out there and Philly could
- 8:19Speaker 1: not do anything. They couldn't do anything no matter what
- 8:21Speaker 1: they want to do. Our defense, whether it was the
- 8:23Speaker 1: defensive line, in the secondary of the linebackers. That's gonna
- 8:26Speaker 1: be a theme of this podcast. The defense is real.
- 8:28Speaker 1: They put it on film. The confidence is there in
- 8:31Speaker 1: building with the young guys, and that's just gonna be
- 8:33Speaker 1: who they are from now on. I'm speaking in too existence.
- 8:36Speaker 1: This is who they are. This is who they are.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Once again, the Hawks prove they can win a game
- 8:40Speaker 1: in any way possible. This time the game was a
- 8:43Speaker 1: defensive struggle and they showed their up to the challenge. So,
- 8:46Speaker 1: like they said, we're talking about that defense. When the
- 8:48Speaker 1: offense was struggling, the defense came through and got it done.
- 8:52Speaker 1: And that's what great football teams do. It's like a relationship,
- 8:54Speaker 1: right where I'm weak here, you're strong there, and vice versa.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Love what I saw out of that defense. Seahawks in
- 9:00Speaker 1: the turnover battle, creating five turnovers. Trey Flowers with a
- 9:03Speaker 1: pick McDougall would have picked digs almost had to pick
- 9:05Speaker 1: up the beginning of the game, fumble recoveries, Quinn Jefferson
- 9:08Speaker 1: trying to toss the ball ladderly. I mean, this was
- 9:10Speaker 1: a fun game to watch on that defensive side. Well,
- 9:12Speaker 1: they're just flying around. Two weeks in a row. Once again,
- 9:15Speaker 1: I said, they showed us who they are and they're
- 9:17Speaker 1: getting after the ball. Pete Carroll talks about it's all
- 9:19Speaker 1: about the football, whether it's protecting them on offense and
- 9:22Speaker 1: getting turnovers in defense. And for the second week in
- 9:24Speaker 1: a row, they show what they can be. Like, I
- 9:26Speaker 1: love the activity in the secondary. I love the defensive line,
- 9:29Speaker 1: Like they're always around the ball, They're in great position
- 9:31Speaker 1: and they're making a lot of plays. If there is
- 9:33Speaker 1: a negative we had to pull from this game, they
- 9:35Speaker 1: put the ball in the ground too many times. It's
- 9:37Speaker 1: almost like we expect to fumble during the game. I
- 9:41Speaker 1: hope this doesn't continue. What did they have to do
- 9:43Speaker 1: to stop this? Can you do anything to stop the fumbles?
- 9:46Speaker 1: I don't know, bump your coach. I mean it's some
- 9:48Speaker 1: of them with Carson have been you know, like the
- 9:51Speaker 1: weird like a good play by the defense like a
- 9:53Speaker 1: good punch this and that, like even last night or whatever.
- 9:57Speaker 1: You know, there's a play where Carson clearly didn't get
- 9:59Speaker 1: the check he thinks hits a play action run. He's
- 10:02Speaker 1: not even looking at rust for us trying to give
- 10:03Speaker 1: him the ball. So there's little things that can be fixed.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I just hope whatever happens, Chris just continues to be
- 10:10Speaker 1: true to who he is and doesn't change his running style.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It's disappointing and hasn't bit them in the butt yet,
- 10:15Speaker 1: and I just hope they can find a way to
- 10:17Speaker 1: correct it, because despite all that, there's still finding ways
- 10:19Speaker 1: to win games, still finding ways to win. Another takeaway,
- 10:22Speaker 1: No Clowney, no problem. See hows defense lying bawled out
- 10:25Speaker 1: for the second week in a row, and there was
- 10:27Speaker 1: an Onswa siding. That is what got me most excited,
- 10:30Speaker 1: because we know he's been struggling with injuries and trying
- 10:32Speaker 1: to put on weight. For him to show up when
- 10:35Speaker 1: he's needed the most with the absence of Clowney was
- 10:36Speaker 1: awesome to see well, and Pete's talked about it. You know,
- 10:40Speaker 1: I don't think we give enough credit because everyone's like,
- 10:42Speaker 1: where's on site? He's our big offseason us. You know, addition,
- 10:46Speaker 1: he should be doing X Y Z. The man had
- 10:49Speaker 1: a messed up shoulder, which means he couldn't do certain
- 10:52Speaker 1: things that you want to do lift and keep up
- 10:53Speaker 1: his weight. So he was he was underweight and he's
- 10:56Speaker 1: finally kind of getting back to that and it was
- 10:58Speaker 1: awesome to see him there. He was you could see
- 11:00Speaker 1: because he that he's getting back to the way he
- 11:02Speaker 1: wants to because he was able to bull rush guys.
- 11:04Speaker 1: He's able to do his strength stuff, which has always
- 11:06Speaker 1: been a part of his game. And when he can
- 11:08Speaker 1: do that and he's balling out now any single person
- 11:11Speaker 1: on a D line. What we talked about at the
- 11:13Speaker 1: beginning the year, everyone thought we were going to see.
- 11:15Speaker 1: We're finally now seeing and if once isn't part of that,
- 11:17Speaker 1: it's gonna be trouble for the rest of the league.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Saw all coming together last sec Away Hawks keep the
- 11:22Speaker 1: pressure on the forty nine and improved to ninety two,
- 11:24Speaker 1: which is the second best record in the league. The
- 11:26Speaker 1: Niners did dismantle Green Bay last night. Green Bay isn't
- 11:31Speaker 1: who we thought they were like, and the Niners are
- 11:33Speaker 1: who we thought they were, So it's set it up
- 11:35Speaker 1: to send it up to have a great battle at
- 11:37Speaker 1: the end of the year if both teams continue to win.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Moving on the top performers got to talk about defensive line.
- 11:42Speaker 1: We just talked about a little bit. Ziggyans one and
- 11:45Speaker 1: a half Sex two quarterback hits, one force fumble. Easily
- 11:48Speaker 1: his best game as a Seahawk. It's not even close.
- 11:50Speaker 1: And honestly, he should have two and a a half sacks
- 11:52Speaker 1: because he had another one but it got taken away
- 11:54Speaker 1: by a penalty down the field and he was just active.
- 11:57Speaker 1: He would just I mean, you love to see it
- 11:58Speaker 1: because he was balling out. Man Rashim Green had a sack,
- 12:01Speaker 1: Kim Griffin had four tackles, nearly a saging was super active.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Red had half a sack and three tackles. The Poona
- 12:09Speaker 1: Ford had a tackle for loss. Whenever Poona Max a
- 12:12Speaker 1: play just makes me happy. He just looks like a
- 12:14Speaker 1: kid out there having fun, balling out. I love seeing
- 12:16Speaker 1: Pooona make play. He was active. Then that said thing
- 12:18Speaker 1: about this defensive line, I didn't put it on the
- 12:20Speaker 1: show sheet, but Quentin Jefferson was another guy who was
- 12:22Speaker 1: active in making plays all that long, and you just
- 12:25Speaker 1: love to see it because he gives offensive lineman fits.
- 12:28Speaker 1: He's low center gravity, that can't get their hands on him.
- 12:31Speaker 1: When he's disruptive, starting from the inside out, it's it's
- 12:33Speaker 1: a problem. He is a problem. Talk about those linebackers.
- 12:37Speaker 1: kJ Wright had twelve tackles. You know, say what you
- 12:41Speaker 1: want about kJ. Yeah, he dropped a couple of interceptions
- 12:44Speaker 1: a few weeks back, but he's a super consistent that
- 12:47Speaker 1: whole linebacker corps. I mean, Kendricks had eleven tackles. Bobby
- 12:51Speaker 1: had I think he had six six tackles maybe nine combined.
- 12:55Speaker 1: kJ had twelve tackles. They're the most consistent position group
- 12:59Speaker 1: on this football team in my opinion. We knew coming
- 13:01Speaker 1: into the air that this was gonna be the best
- 13:02Speaker 1: linebacking core in the NFL, and they showed. They continue
- 13:05Speaker 1: to show that week after week. And the thing about it,
- 13:07Speaker 1: too is so Wags. He six tackles. He went over
- 13:11Speaker 1: one hundred tackles, which which was his eighth straight season
- 13:16Speaker 1: of over one hundred tackles. The man is a machine.
- 13:19Speaker 1: And the crazy thing is, I heard you talking with
- 13:22Speaker 1: Pete Carroll this morning. We still haven't seen that crazy
- 13:25Speaker 1: Bobby Wagoner football game. We know that's coming Monday night
- 13:27Speaker 1: would be a great place for that. But those boys
- 13:30Speaker 1: were balling out, and you mentioned Michael Kendricks eleven tackles,
- 13:33Speaker 1: eleven solo solos. That brat that that is something you
- 13:37Speaker 1: don't see that people have nineteen tackles, they have nine
- 13:41Speaker 1: eleven assists or whatever. He had eleven solo tackles, and
- 13:44Speaker 1: people have gotten on Michael Kendricks for miss tackles, and
- 13:47Speaker 1: Dave Wyman puts it the best way possible. He gets
- 13:50Speaker 1: two plays on some of those where he missed tackles
- 13:52Speaker 1: that no one else on this planet would have gotten to.
- 13:55Speaker 1: So it looks bad, but you can't even look at
- 13:57Speaker 1: it that way because like, okay, well, Michael Kendricks is
- 13:58Speaker 1: the only person that could get there. He's super consistent
- 14:01Speaker 1: and he's balling out. Pete Carroll told me something about
- 14:03Speaker 1: Michael Kennricks. I didn't know he ran a four four,
- 14:06Speaker 1: Say what a four or four at two hundred and
- 14:09Speaker 1: thirty pounds, So this guy is moving and a lot
- 14:12Speaker 1: of his eleven tackles were open field tackles as well,
- 14:15Speaker 1: but for sure, tackles the tackles that you have to make.
- 14:18Speaker 1: So everyone who was knocking this man earlier for missing tackles.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Remember he's getting there when no one else can. And
- 14:24Speaker 1: recently he's been making these open field tackles. Dude his
- 14:27Speaker 1: ball and appreciate him. You gotta talk about that secondary now.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Trey Flowers had ten tackles, three passes defendant in one intercession.
- 14:35Speaker 1: It seems like he's coming into his own right now.
- 14:37Speaker 1: He's made that adjustment from that safety to that corner position.
- 14:40Speaker 1: He's nice and long. I love his demeanor. He's super calm.
- 14:42Speaker 1: The kid has grown up right in front of our eyes. Yeah,
- 14:44Speaker 1: he just doesn't panic like he's and when you talk
- 14:47Speaker 1: to him, he doesn't even like to acknowledge that he
- 14:49Speaker 1: plays safety because he when the second we moved him
- 14:51Speaker 1: to the corner, he's I'm a corner. That's how he
- 14:54Speaker 1: plays it. It was nice, a little cover to scheme,
- 14:57Speaker 1: which we don't do a lot. He played it perfectly.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Throw the ball to him. He's in great position. Trade
- 15:01Speaker 1: is having a great year. The great thing about his
- 15:03Speaker 1: pick it's a cover two schemes. So he has a
- 15:05Speaker 1: flat usually sits around five to eight yards. If your
- 15:08Speaker 1: flat isn't being threatened, you drop into that zone. So
- 15:12Speaker 1: he's aware. He wasn't threatened. He dropped into the zone.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Winz tried to throw that cover two honeyhole shot baller.
- 15:17Speaker 1: He made the play. Love it. Shakuille Greffin had four tackles,
- 15:20Speaker 1: one pass offended. You know, we gotta put him in
- 15:23Speaker 1: the In the talks with the most consistent players on
- 15:25Speaker 1: this team on defense, we talked about that linebacker corps.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I cannot think of one player this year. While I
- 15:30Speaker 1: was like Dan shaquill Man, you got Shakill. I mean,
- 15:33Speaker 1: he's everywhere you want him to be. He's always in
- 15:36Speaker 1: position and he's confident. He's playing with that confidence. There's
- 15:38Speaker 1: a play it was third or fourth down where he's
- 15:42Speaker 1: breaking on the ball and just great fund of meals.
- 15:44Speaker 1: He's placed straight through the football. He is a million
- 15:46Speaker 1: pass defended. He's always in great shape. One of our favorites.
- 15:49Speaker 1: We had him on a hundred yards of Michael Bump.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Is he the Man's the man's ball, He's a baller.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Bradley mcdoug was six tackles, one pass offended, and an interception.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Seems like he's getting healthy. He's battle some injuries earlier
- 15:59Speaker 1: in the season. He's getting healthy. Then Quandre Diggs every game, well,
- 16:03Speaker 1: the second game, but he's two for two. He's gonna
- 16:06Speaker 1: come downhill and he's gonna light you up. I look
- 16:08Speaker 1: forward to seeing that every single week. You can hear it.
- 16:10Speaker 1: That's the thing. We're sitting there in the studio for
- 16:12Speaker 1: the when you're the pre post game show, and you
- 16:14Speaker 1: can hear his hits like you can hear them all
- 16:16Speaker 1: the TV copy, which means you can feel them, which
- 16:19Speaker 1: damn sure means wide receivers for other teams can feel it.
- 16:22Speaker 1: And he's a small dude, man, he's probably your size yep.
- 16:25Speaker 1: And he comes down there and knocks people out and
- 16:27Speaker 1: I love to see it. He's brings that physicality. The
- 16:29Speaker 1: tandem of him and Bradley are playing super well, and
- 16:32Speaker 1: that's why this defense is director. He's going through the roof.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I think they know who they who their safeties are.
- 16:37Speaker 1: That's for sure, all right. Receiver round up. No one
- 16:39Speaker 1: really jumped out and did anything crazy, but that ball
- 16:42Speaker 1: was spread around. Tyler Lockett had one huge cast for
- 16:45Speaker 1: thirty eight yards. You talked to be Carol. He said
- 16:48Speaker 1: he wasn't one hundred percent for him to come out
- 16:50Speaker 1: and still make plays as awesome. DK metcalf had three
- 16:53Speaker 1: catches for thirty five yards. Malik Turner had one a
- 16:56Speaker 1: huge cast for thirty three yards. We'll talk about that
- 16:58Speaker 1: play later. First touchdown for the kid. Happy to see that.
- 17:02Speaker 1: David Moore had one cast for thirty one. Mister up top.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Chris Carson had four cats for thirty one yards. Hollister
- 17:07Speaker 1: had two for twenty two. Should have had a touchdown,
- 17:10Speaker 1: but after talking to Pete, I guess the win got
- 17:13Speaker 1: a hold of that ball. Josh Gordon, he's just mister
- 17:15Speaker 1: slant for this team so far, one catch for ten yards.
- 17:19Speaker 1: No one really did anything crazy, but they're consistent. Every
- 17:23Speaker 1: catch is a big is a big catch. We got
- 17:25Speaker 1: one for thirty, one for thirty three, one for thirty one,
- 17:27Speaker 1: two for twenty two. I mean they may not have
- 17:30Speaker 1: had or put up the numbers that were used to sing,
- 17:32Speaker 1: but it was consistent across the board. Yeah, and you
- 17:34Speaker 1: love it. Like we said last week, there's always a
- 17:36Speaker 1: different person that steps up. Whether it's a Josh Gordon,
- 17:38Speaker 1: whether it's a David Moore, whether it's TK Metcalf, whether
- 17:40Speaker 1: it's Locket, it doesn't really matter, Malik, and you love
- 17:43Speaker 1: to see it because again everyone continues to make plays.
- 17:46Speaker 1: So when those big moments come up late in the season,
- 17:48Speaker 1: Laton big games, they're not going to shy away from
- 17:50Speaker 1: it because they've already been there. Yep, been there, done that. Okay,
- 17:53Speaker 1: Now we're gonna go to the coach's corner. This is
- 17:55Speaker 1: where I break down a plane. Today we're gonna talk
- 17:57Speaker 1: about Malik Turner's trick play. Russell Wilson finds black Turne
- 18:00Speaker 1: on the trick play him for thirty three yard touchdown.
- 18:02Speaker 1: This happened in them the first quarter with five at
- 18:05Speaker 1: four in the clock, in motion, his fans from left
- 18:08Speaker 1: to right. The toss right side. Now Carson's gonna throw
- 18:10Speaker 1: back to Russ who's looking to throw the ball day
- 18:13Speaker 1: He's got a man down field in the end zone.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Turner is there. Does he make the catch? He does,
- 18:18Speaker 1: touchdown Seahawks from thirty three yards out. A little razzle
- 18:25Speaker 1: dazzled by the Seahawks. Carson on the sweet right back
- 18:29Speaker 1: to Russell Wilson who throws deep and Malik Turner over
- 18:33Speaker 1: the shoulder in the back of the end zone hangs
- 18:35Speaker 1: on and the Seahawks are on the board, and they
- 18:37Speaker 1: leave the Eagles sixty three man hold on a second.
- 18:40Speaker 1: A little side note to my guy Dave Wyman when
- 18:43Speaker 1: when he's doing the color he does a great job,
- 18:45Speaker 1: but sometimes he just can't contain himself. Listen to this
- 18:48Speaker 1: part again. Does he make the catch? He does touch her?
- 18:51Speaker 1: Does he make a catch touchdown? That's true. Excite me
- 18:57Speaker 1: by my man, Dave Wiman. So let's breakdown the play.
- 19:00Speaker 1: This is what happens. Malik Turner has lined up in
- 19:02Speaker 1: a tight formation. They put fam in emotion. Everything about
- 19:06Speaker 1: this play says they're gonna run the ball the person
- 19:09Speaker 1: now the motion I talked to be Carol. He says,
- 19:11Speaker 1: Malik is one of their best blockers and they used
- 19:13Speaker 1: him a lot, so that's why he's in for this play.
- 19:15Speaker 1: They run a stretched looking play to Chris Carson. Chris
- 19:18Speaker 1: Carson tosses it back to Russell Wilson. He pats the
- 19:21Speaker 1: ball two or three times. I'm thinking, russ what are
- 19:23Speaker 1: you doing? What are you doing? He's given Malik Turner
- 19:25Speaker 1: time to split those safeties and then he drops a
- 19:27Speaker 1: dime riding between the safeties with the wind swirling. It
- 19:31Speaker 1: was a great cast. Malik Turner catches his first touchdown
- 19:33Speaker 1: and does a little Harlem shake off um what. One
- 19:40Speaker 1: of the things I like most about this play is
- 19:41Speaker 1: that is disrespectful. You know, it's just disrespectful, like, hey, look,
- 19:45Speaker 1: you got flea Flicker called on you last week. We're
- 19:47Speaker 1: gonna do it again, but we're gonna hit you for
- 19:48Speaker 1: a touchdown and you and you let him know. He's saying, Hey,
- 19:51Speaker 1: did you get it corrected? Hey we got you? Yeah,
- 19:55Speaker 1: work on it. Okay. The best thing what do we
- 19:58Speaker 1: get from this game, yaws to prove from six and
- 20:01Speaker 1: on the road for the first time in franchise history.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Six That tie is twenty thirteen when they were six
- 20:06Speaker 1: and two on the road. Something tells me they're gonna
- 20:08Speaker 1: they're gonna get clips that the defensive line has officially
- 20:11Speaker 1: a rive. I think it's something we can count on
- 20:14Speaker 1: moving forward. And especially because you're hearing different names. It's
- 20:17Speaker 1: not always the same name. It's County Onto guy in
- 20:19Speaker 1: the makes Quinn Jefferson read knuckle Wood. Hopefully he's okay.
- 20:22Speaker 1: POONA four got into Mike Shacreen Green. I just named
- 20:25Speaker 1: five or six dudes right there. Yeah, the depth is
- 20:27Speaker 1: crazy there. And then another dude another on top of that,
- 20:29Speaker 1: Shekee Griffin, you have you have a ton of guys
- 20:31Speaker 1: that are coming in there and making plays. Jay Reid
- 20:33Speaker 1: kind of had a sprained his ankle out of miss
- 20:35Speaker 1: the rest of the game. We're hoping he's healthy. Hopefully
- 20:37Speaker 1: the extra day on the money night gets him back.
- 20:39Speaker 1: But when all those dudes are making plays, it's dangerous.
- 20:42Speaker 1: It's dangerous. By improving the ninety two, the Seahawks keep
- 20:44Speaker 1: their division title on top a playoff. Sea hopes alive.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Get your popcorn ready. The last five weeks should be fun.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Well that's all we got for you today, folks. It's
- 20:54Speaker 1: been real. I am Michael Bump is your hosts a
- 20:56Speaker 1: lot with NASA, Choby, big Us, Big Ray for joining
- 20:59Speaker 1: us as usual. The Seahawks beat the Eagles seventeen and nine,
- 21:02Speaker 1: improved to nine and two, and are making moves. We'll
- 21:05Speaker 1: see you next time.
