- 0:24Speaker 3: it's just like great, You've gotta put them down and
- 0:26Speaker 3: then you got to put them down again. The clockhead zero, well,
- 0:30Speaker 3: sorry until the clockheads somewhere in the late nineties, right
- 0:33Speaker 3: your truck.
- 0:33Speaker 4: I know, I don't know if you've made that announcement.
- 0:36Speaker 2: You got a truck, well, chuck guy, okay for f
- 0:39Speaker 2: one fifty so nice.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Wow, technically my wife's car, so I'm trying to decide that.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah, she likes a big rock.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Well, why are they trying to put more people.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Into the DMV? You've heard all heard that ad on.
- 0:52Speaker 4: To be like I can't stamp it. I like, I
- 0:54Speaker 4: got it.
- 0:54Speaker 1: You know the woman who sings?
- 0:57Speaker 2: Really, when I watched The Red six, I yell at yah.
- 1:01Speaker 2: My wife says, you know they can't hear you. I'm like, no,
- 1:03Speaker 2: they can't their pipes because it was pitching.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I mean, I don't even.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Know if i'd have fall pitch.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Have you ever seen him?
- 1:10Speaker 2: It's like all slurve and really yeah, like was he
- 1:13Speaker 2: junk fifty miles an hour? So would you rather someone
- 1:17Speaker 2: captures a video of you picking your nose and eating it?
- 1:19Speaker 2: Or all of your arguments with your partner are transcribed
- 1:23Speaker 2: and sent to their parents?
- 1:24Speaker 1: Oh god, oh I do the second one.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Yeah, me too, because I'm always right. This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:31Speaker 5: Presented by Toyota dot Com.
- 1:35Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:39Speaker 2: at you Let's Stadium, and we're getting back to normal
- 1:42Speaker 2: and we're also getting ready for training camp. This is
- 1:46Speaker 2: this week. Guys are showing up. We saw some rookies
- 1:49Speaker 2: showing up today. Uh so this is it. Yes, and
- 1:54Speaker 2: it's Evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's Mike, it's Matt
- 1:57Speaker 2: in the booth and we're talking Patriots again.
- 2:00Speaker 1: The boys are back.
- 2:01Speaker 2: See you guys on your holidays, So they say in
- 2:05Speaker 2: Europe you were on holiday.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Evident and I held it down before we left. Don't
- 2:10Speaker 1: you worry? That was in good shape. I heard about that.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Ratings reflected it.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Yeah, so yeah, your shows were, how you guys doing?
- 2:19Speaker 1: What did you do during your go ahead. I had
- 2:22Speaker 1: a staycation. I didn't you know. I did a couple
- 2:25Speaker 1: of things around here. Uh, went on the Spirit of Boston.
- 2:28Speaker 1: That was fun. Some of the tool ships okay, but
- 2:32Speaker 1: that was that was a fun night. And went down
- 2:34Speaker 1: to Plymouth. A friend of mine as a beach house
- 2:36Speaker 1: down there. Spent the day down and that was good time.
- 2:39Speaker 1: But nothing.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Did you see the baby?
- 2:42Speaker 1: I didn't see anything.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I didn't see any science call right, I got it.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I didn't see the bait. You gotta see the baby?
- 2:47Speaker 2: The baby?
- 2:48Speaker 1: What is so great about the bit?
- 2:51Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 2:52Speaker 1: That was about it. I did a couple of radio hits,
- 2:55Speaker 1: as as you like to say, on the sad, sad
- 3:00Speaker 1: holiday fill in host time.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Nothing sadder than the holiday fill in host.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Yeah, nothing more necessary for me though, the sad holiday filling.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah sure, Evan, what about you?
- 3:12Speaker 6: Spent a week on the vineyard, which was really nice.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Whereabouts on the vineyard.
- 3:18Speaker 6: Our house we got an airbnb, not like a big house,
- 3:22Speaker 6: but we were in Oak Bluffs this year.
- 3:25Speaker 4: But we you know, we pop around.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah, what's your favorite?
- 3:28Speaker 1: You know, I I haven't.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Been to the vineyards since I was in high school,
- 3:32Speaker 2: so I have no idea, what's going on there?
- 3:35Speaker 7: What's your best restaurant that you.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Go to home?
- 3:37Speaker 4: Oh?
- 3:38Speaker 6: So, Actually, we tried a new restaurant this year that
- 3:41Speaker 6: that quickly arose up the list.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I'll give them a shout out.
- 3:44Speaker 6: Pawnee House and Oak Bluffs and they have great food there,
- 3:48Speaker 6: great like kind of.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Like Latin American flavor.
- 3:53Speaker 6: I would say I had a rice and beans bowl
- 3:56Speaker 6: that was fantastic, But I would say honey House is
- 4:01Speaker 6: probably right at the top of our list now. It's
- 4:04Speaker 6: one of our new favorites. We went twice. Actually, we
- 4:06Speaker 6: liked it so much.
- 4:07Speaker 7: Does a rice and bean bowls sound good to you?
- 4:10Speaker 1: I need a little steak in there. Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 4: No, it had.
- 4:14Speaker 6: Had sausage actually okay, and it was really really good.
- 4:19Speaker 1: And I don't prove. I don't know if that would
- 4:21Speaker 1: surprise you, but I have a every once in a while.
- 4:25Speaker 1: It wouldn't. It's got to have meat it I don't need. Yeah,
- 4:27Speaker 1: I would definitely have to have either steak or chicken. Yeah,
- 4:30Speaker 1: but yeah, I don't mind a rice bowl.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Yeah. There.
- 4:33Speaker 6: We also had a place called the Covington. It was
- 4:36Speaker 6: an Eggertown right on the main street and Eggertown and
- 4:39Speaker 6: different another new place that we tried. But like if
- 4:41Speaker 6: you want, like the o G places like Nancy's Lookout Tavern,
- 4:44Speaker 6: those places are all really good too, and those will
- 4:47Speaker 6: have more you know, Pol's Burgers and things like that,
- 4:51Speaker 6: you know, but like that, the new places were good
- 4:54Speaker 6: this year. I feel like the it's becoming a little
- 4:57Speaker 6: bit more of a vacation destination versus like, oh I
- 5:01Speaker 6: have a buddy who has a house there, you know,
- 5:02Speaker 6: or something like that. And so the restaurants were seeing
- 5:05Speaker 6: over the years like they're getting nicer and nicer, like
- 5:08Speaker 6: dinner style restaurants that people go on on vacation.
- 5:12Speaker 2: So it was pretty good, Coop, all right, Duce and
- 5:16Speaker 2: I were here with Alex.
- 5:17Speaker 1: So what was what was the theme of the week.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Oh, it was a lot of World Cup and everything else,
- 5:23Speaker 2: everything but football.
- 5:25Speaker 1: So it was funny. Like I ended up golfing. That
- 5:27Speaker 1: was the last thing I did on my vacation. I
- 5:29Speaker 1: golfed on Sunday. So I watched all those matches and
- 5:31Speaker 1: I did watch a I mean I don't know, probably
- 5:35Speaker 1: more than a dozen, I would say, of those matches,
- 5:38Speaker 1: and I didn't see one second of the final. No wow.
- 5:42Speaker 7: I watched and I watched it.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I watched most of the final, but yeah, it was
- 5:45Speaker 3: I mean, I just it's one of those things we
- 5:47Speaker 3: talked about. Was Spain dominated the whole time, and I
- 5:49Speaker 3: was like, man, if this gets the penalty case, they've
- 5:53Speaker 3: got a chance.
- 5:53Speaker 7: Well this is what Argentina's been doing.
- 5:55Speaker 2: But Spain is just a great defense, and so they
- 5:58Speaker 2: couldn't get away with it.
- 5:59Speaker 6: They they had a few, they had one goal allowed,
- 6:02Speaker 6: one goal the entire tournament. Yeah, not just in one
- 6:06Speaker 6: goal the entire tournament. Belgium scored against them, the only
- 6:10Speaker 6: goal they allowed the entire tournament.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Mike was telling me that Argentina didn't even have a
- 6:13Speaker 1: shot on goal till late the nineties. Oh, I thought
- 6:16Speaker 1: they didn't even have one at home. I don't even
- 6:18Speaker 1: know if that was now, it was late.
- 6:21Speaker 2: But anyway, the World Cup has gone. It was a
- 6:24Speaker 2: good World Cup. I'll give fee for their props. But
- 6:26Speaker 2: we're on to football here, just so you know. We're
- 6:31Speaker 2: on our regular schedule this week, twelve to two, Tuesday
- 6:34Speaker 2: and Thursday, Catch twenty two on Wednesday twelve to two,
- 6:38Speaker 2: but we'll also be live on Saturday for the practice,
- 6:41Speaker 2: So starting at about nine to forty five. On Saturday,
- 6:46Speaker 2: we'll be live through practice until they tell us we
- 6:48Speaker 2: have to turn our cameras off. So looking forward to
- 6:52Speaker 2: that on Saturday to kick off practice, and then we'll
- 6:55Speaker 2: be back on the thirtieth for the first day of
- 6:59Speaker 2: pads Thursday, I believe thuresday, so well again, we'll be
- 7:03Speaker 2: live on that Thursday, and then joint practices down the road.
- 7:07Speaker 2: But much more to come there. But so Tuesday Thursday
- 7:10Speaker 2: this week and Saturday bonus, and we.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Will maintain our Tuesday Thursday schedule during camp. Most of
- 7:17Speaker 1: those games, most of those shows will be from one
- 7:19Speaker 1: to three. We will have a slight time change this week,
- 7:22Speaker 1: as Fred said, is normal. Next week when there's a
- 7:25Speaker 1: day of practice that we have a show, that show
- 7:29Speaker 1: will be pushed back an hour.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah, because practices are in the morning. Give these guys
- 7:32Speaker 2: time to watch practice, do the post practice stuff, and
- 7:35Speaker 2: then you know, we'll go on at one o'clock and
- 7:38Speaker 2: go right into what we saw.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and we'll have a quick camp cast videost
- 7:43Speaker 3: alway good way, So you want a five minute breakdown
- 7:46Speaker 3: of what we saw, we'll bang those out too. So
- 7:49Speaker 3: now it's hard to believe it's back already. I mean,
- 7:51Speaker 3: it's happens quick. Excited to see this new team Forest
- 7:55Speaker 3: and Foxboro. Of course, came out on Friday.
- 7:57Speaker 2: We came on a Friday. Got about eighty thousand people
- 8:00Speaker 2: have watched it so far. Everyone loves it, of course,
- 8:04Speaker 2: and I'm sure we'll pick up more. Another episode will
- 8:07Speaker 2: be coming out before the season. Yeah, so we're we're
- 8:12Speaker 2: doing it. And what we hope to do this season
- 8:15Speaker 2: with Forge that's going to be different from last season
- 8:17Speaker 2: is we'll have some sprinkled out throughout the season, so
- 8:22Speaker 2: you're gonna get in season Forged as well.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I was talking to Have though, I just my favorite
- 8:27Speaker 3: part of all that is just anytime you get to
- 8:28Speaker 3: hear Rabel talk to the team.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I mean, it was my same observation.
- 8:32Speaker 3: From when Bill did the NFL Film's Football Life and
- 8:35Speaker 3: in the two thousand and nine season. Any chance I
- 8:37Speaker 3: get to hear a coach talking to their team and
- 8:39Speaker 3: how they're trying to motivate them, what they're highlighting is
- 8:42Speaker 3: being important.
- 8:43Speaker 1: That's that's my favorite part.
- 8:44Speaker 3: And just you know, as Ev was saying, it's just
- 8:46Speaker 3: you can see why Rabel commands a room the way
- 8:49Speaker 3: he does and why guys want to play for him.
- 8:51Speaker 3: I mean, it's just sc He seems to know the
- 8:53Speaker 3: feel of the team. And it just comes back to me,
- 8:55Speaker 3: how is this season going to be special? Last year
- 8:57Speaker 3: which just so special? There were so many little things
- 9:00Speaker 3: Drake Drake May May that thing happened, and you know,
- 9:03Speaker 3: just all the good vibes that seemed to continue to build.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Really felt like it kind of peaked for me around
- 9:08Speaker 3: that Giants game. You know, when it was here, the
- 9:10Speaker 3: atmosphere was electric. But how are they going to recapture
- 9:13Speaker 3: some of that magic this year?
- 9:14Speaker 2: You know?
- 9:15Speaker 3: And how do you is it seems so organic to
- 9:17Speaker 3: me last year, things like the Warriors and all that
- 9:19Speaker 3: stuff that happened. It never felt forced like oh we
- 9:22Speaker 3: need a team motto. You know, it's these things kind
- 9:23Speaker 3: of just happened, right, So can they do it again?
- 9:26Speaker 3: Can they find that kind of special vibe?
- 9:28Speaker 1: Because I do think Digs like the organic stuff to
- 9:31Speaker 1: me was the stuff that Digs sort of started at
- 9:35Speaker 1: this time we always last year and kind yeah, I
- 9:38Speaker 1: mean I think that you know, the way he sort
- 9:39Speaker 1: of took ownership of that wide receiver room and then
- 9:43Speaker 1: you know, as you got to you know, like in Buffalo.
- 9:45Speaker 1: You could see it on the field, manifested on the field,
- 9:48Speaker 1: the way he got the team ready to go, and
- 9:50Speaker 1: I think that was really organic. I'm not as much
- 9:52Speaker 1: of a sucker for the other stuff as you are,
- 9:54Speaker 1: you know, like the the road thing, and you know,
- 9:57Speaker 1: like to me, like, they played really well. But I
- 10:01Speaker 1: think that's going to be difficult to duplicate because I
- 10:05Speaker 1: think Diggs was a big part of that and he's
- 10:07Speaker 1: you know, and he's not there. Now. I'm not questioning
- 10:10Speaker 1: why Diggs isn't here. I mean, I think we kind
- 10:13Speaker 1: of all have an idea of why that is. I
- 10:15Speaker 1: think they upgraded, to be honest with you, in terms
- 10:17Speaker 1: of talent. But it will be interesting to see how
- 10:19Speaker 1: they replace that off the field.
- 10:21Speaker 6: That's the biggest like non football thing, you know, Like
- 10:25Speaker 6: how do they kind of go about creating that energy
- 10:30Speaker 6: again that they had last year. And nothing'll happen, It's
- 10:32Speaker 6: not going to be exactly like last year. But at
- 10:36Speaker 6: the same time, that was such a big part of
- 10:38Speaker 6: why they kind of overachieved, was because they had this
- 10:41Speaker 6: sort of galvanizing feeling to them. It's one of the
- 10:44Speaker 6: best locker rooms I've ever been in, Like just the
- 10:46Speaker 6: vibe every day when we got to go in there,
- 10:50Speaker 6: you know, can you recreate that?
- 10:51Speaker 4: Or you know, are they just better?
- 10:53Speaker 2: You know?
- 10:53Speaker 6: I think that that's part of it too, is that
- 10:55Speaker 6: they might just be more talented this year than they
- 10:56Speaker 6: were last year, and that might help it out as well.
- 10:59Speaker 4: But how does Vrabel?
- 11:01Speaker 6: What are the vrabelisms that he's able to come up with?
- 11:05Speaker 2: One that I got one that struck me from at
- 11:08Speaker 2: least that first episode of Forge is journey. So he
- 11:12Speaker 2: stressed that each guy, you are all gonna have your
- 11:15Speaker 2: own journey that you're in charge of. Uh So, I
- 11:18Speaker 2: think that was kind of a theme that I had.
- 11:20Speaker 2: But then if everybody has their own journey, the team
- 11:23Speaker 2: also has a journey, So what will be this season's journey?
- 11:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I agree with Paul's bagger point though,
- 11:30Speaker 3: is that it's all fueled by winning and success, and
- 11:32Speaker 3: you know it's and that then its just it started
- 11:35Speaker 3: the snowball, you know, And I think that's you know,
- 11:37Speaker 3: not saying these are the little fun slogans are why
- 11:40Speaker 3: you're winning games, But that's the byproduct of it, and
- 11:43Speaker 3: then it all feeds into it and you get that
- 11:44Speaker 3: vibe that you felt like in that Giants game where
- 11:47Speaker 3: you're like, this team is just right and high right now,
- 11:50Speaker 3: you know, and then they fought some injuries and things
- 11:52Speaker 3: were tough. But you know, I just I that that
- 11:54Speaker 3: to me is exciting. And I mean, and then just
- 11:57Speaker 3: to go back to the football part of it, as
- 11:58Speaker 3: Paul like, just the talent on the field, That's what
- 12:00Speaker 3: I'm excited to see this week, aj Brown out there
- 12:03Speaker 3: on the field, you know. And I mean, of course
- 12:05Speaker 3: the first thing is, of course, where's Gonzales and where's
- 12:07Speaker 3: gay backets?
- 12:08Speaker 1: So those are the first two pieces that I'm looking for.
- 12:10Speaker 2: And you know, you talked about who's going to emerge
- 12:12Speaker 2: as a leader to kind of take the place of Diggs.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I think Bayered looks like already he's vocal and will
- 12:21Speaker 2: be part of that. I think Woodson also, you know,
- 12:24Speaker 2: I think you might see him kind of emerge a
- 12:27Speaker 2: little bit. He seems to have a confidence about him
- 12:29Speaker 2: even as a second year player. That really's coming through
- 12:33Speaker 2: for me anyway. On offense, not sure, not true. I mean,
- 12:39Speaker 2: obviously Drake may but I.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Think that's the answer because you know, now you know,
- 12:43Speaker 1: year three with a great year under his belt, I
- 12:46Speaker 1: think you already sort of took some ownership of that
- 12:49Speaker 1: last year. You guys agree, you know, like that ownership
- 12:51Speaker 1: of the offense. I think he'll be that much more
- 12:53Speaker 1: comfortable in year two of the system, I think. Yeah,
- 12:57Speaker 1: I think you should see more on that's on that
- 13:00Speaker 1: part of the leadership part of.
- 13:02Speaker 3: It from mey, Yeah, you know, just being the conductor
- 13:05Speaker 3: of the offense and you know, getting the ball out
- 13:07Speaker 3: to guys. And I mean it sounds stupid because I
- 13:09Speaker 3: feel like we spent so much time in the early
- 13:11Speaker 3: days talking about, you know, we need to push the
- 13:14Speaker 3: ball down the field like this is you know, when
- 13:16Speaker 3: they were bad, like they just they had nothing down
- 13:17Speaker 3: the field, right, it was just a struggle.
- 13:20Speaker 1: And now I'm almost looking at it.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Like can Drake be patient and just take the little
- 13:24Speaker 3: underneath easy safe, you know, And they dig it into
- 13:27Speaker 3: some of his stats from last year over the last
- 13:29Speaker 3: couple of days, like, you know, that's.
- 13:30Speaker 1: An area I think he can improve, I think.
- 13:32Speaker 3: And that's a way that you can really turn the
- 13:34Speaker 3: screws on a defense where you know you're just gonna
- 13:37Speaker 3: dink and dunk at times, you know, And that and
- 13:39Speaker 3: that I think is a weird thing to say, like,
- 13:41Speaker 3: I hope he can dink and dunk a little more,
- 13:42Speaker 3: but I think there is a time to dink and dunk,
- 13:44Speaker 3: and you know, maybe it feeds into one of the
- 13:47Speaker 3: things Evan talked a lot about this offseason, which is
- 13:49Speaker 3: just tempo and you know, trying to push the pace
- 13:51Speaker 3: a little bit at certain times. And you know that's
- 13:54Speaker 3: that to me, will just show him continuing to develop.
- 13:56Speaker 3: And you know, we said last year, I remember Paul
- 13:59Speaker 3: talking about the Sea't going in and saying, you know,
- 14:01Speaker 3: I think they'll win. I don't know whatever you said
- 14:02Speaker 3: like nine ten games like that, but fourteen I think
- 14:05Speaker 3: you were, you know, measured as I was. But you
- 14:07Speaker 3: said the wild card was Drake May. And if Drake
- 14:09Speaker 3: May played well, then you know double digit wins are
- 14:12Speaker 3: on the table. And you know, this year is it.
- 14:14Speaker 3: We saw that he has all the potential. Can he
- 14:17Speaker 3: do it? Tougher slate, a little more pressure, Teams have
- 14:20Speaker 3: more film on him now they're going to look at
- 14:22Speaker 3: what he did last year and say this is how
- 14:24Speaker 3: we got to approach this guy this year. So there's
- 14:25Speaker 3: gonna be some new things. You know that he's going
- 14:27Speaker 3: to get thrown out him, He's got to be.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I mean, we've talked about it before, and Drake has
- 14:30Speaker 2: talked about it, but the fact that he's got a
- 14:32Speaker 2: coordinator again that he had the year before, which has
- 14:37Speaker 2: never happened in all of his career from college on up,
- 14:41Speaker 2: I think that's got to really benefit him. That he's
- 14:43Speaker 2: going to hear the same language, the same philosophy, the
- 14:47Speaker 2: same schemes, and he's going to be able to build.
- 14:50Speaker 7: On what he did last year.
- 14:52Speaker 2: That's the key.
- 14:53Speaker 7: It's up here.
- 14:54Speaker 1: You said it.
- 14:55Speaker 2: He's got the physical we've seen it. He can do
- 14:57Speaker 2: it all, but we've got to see what he can
- 14:59Speaker 2: do in those most critical moments of the game against
- 15:04Speaker 2: the best competition. That's what kind of we're still waiting for.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Can I put negative deuce hat on for just the
- 15:10Speaker 3: one second, like.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Is anybody afraid? Is anybody afraid he's gonna regret?
- 15:14Speaker 3: I'm not saying I'm afraid, but I just think it's
- 15:15Speaker 3: a worthwhile conversation to say, he played out of his
- 15:18Speaker 3: mind last year and it was unexpected the level he
- 15:20Speaker 3: played at.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Is there a chance that he was punching above his weight?
- 15:23Speaker 3: And he's gonna get into more games this year against
- 15:26Speaker 3: tougher defenses, and it's not going to be quite as
- 15:29Speaker 3: good as well.
- 15:30Speaker 6: Statistical regression is different from like eye test regressions. Thank you, Like,
- 15:34Speaker 6: he's not going to complete seventy two percent of his
- 15:36Speaker 6: passes again, I think we can all say that pretty comfortably.
- 15:40Speaker 6: Is he going to lead the league in every category?
- 15:43Speaker 4: Again? Statistically? Probably not, but he might be better?
- 15:47Speaker 2: Yeah, right, and he will be better. The only way
- 15:50Speaker 2: he's not better from the eye test is if this
- 15:54Speaker 2: offensive line is a disaster, and there's no way it is.
- 15:58Speaker 2: So he'll he'll be a better quarterback than he was
- 16:01Speaker 2: last year. May not translate into pure numbers, but you're
- 16:05Speaker 2: going to look at him and say he's he's getting
- 16:08Speaker 2: better mentally.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Yeah. You guys really do set me up for these things,
- 16:12Speaker 1: don't you. Okay, I'm just back. I have to wait ahead,
- 16:16Speaker 1: go ahead. There's no put like what Mike said, Like
- 16:20Speaker 1: we can all agree that we think the world of
- 16:22Speaker 1: Drake May and that we think he'll be better in
- 16:24Speaker 1: the year two. But there's no Mike's scenario that he's
- 16:28Speaker 1: trying to paint, you know, a little devil's advocate. Sure,
- 16:30Speaker 1: that's not possible. It's it's not possible, so like it's not.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Of course, it's not possible that he completed seventy two percent.
- 16:38Speaker 1: We're fifty eight percent in the play. We're here to
- 16:40Speaker 1: give our opinion based on my opinion is he will
- 16:43Speaker 1: not aggress regress. Okay, but you said it wasn't possible.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I don't think so, I said, unless the offensive line is.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I don't think he's going to regress either. I think
- 16:51Speaker 1: he's going to get better. I think the guy's incredibly talented,
- 16:54Speaker 1: and like I said, I think all of us think
- 16:56Speaker 1: the world of Evan. You have some good stuff with
- 16:58Speaker 1: the numbers, though. I wanted to set you up for
- 17:01Speaker 1: that because you know, I get a popsicle headache, but
- 17:04Speaker 1: maybe some people might be interested in it.
- 17:07Speaker 6: Yeah, we well, Deuce and I did our written previews
- 17:11Speaker 6: and then the three of us did our video previews of
- 17:13Speaker 6: each position, and we released the quarterback one today and
- 17:17Speaker 6: I just looked into some of the numbers of you know,
- 17:19Speaker 6: what were some of the things you know that defenses
- 17:21Speaker 6: did against Drake May that he wasn't so good against.
- 17:25Speaker 6: And Seattle kind of did it in the Super Bowl,
- 17:27Speaker 6: and that's the best defense in football, so when they
- 17:30Speaker 6: did it and they did it well.
- 17:31Speaker 4: It didn't look good.
- 17:32Speaker 6: And the two big coverages that they called against him
- 17:35Speaker 6: were Cover six, which quarter quarter half and we talk
- 17:38Speaker 6: about that, and cover zero you all out pressure and
- 17:41Speaker 6: those were the two kinds of things that they jostled
- 17:44Speaker 6: between in the Super Bowl that gave Drake May a
- 17:46Speaker 6: lot of trouble.
- 17:47Speaker 4: And it's a blueprint league.
- 17:49Speaker 6: Their teams are going to look at that Super Bowl
- 17:51Speaker 6: tape and say, how can we replicate?
- 17:53Speaker 4: What can we replicate?
- 17:55Speaker 2: And that's the Let's talk about that cover zero for
- 17:58Speaker 2: a second, right because during the Sea and now, granted
- 18:01Speaker 2: it wasn't as good a defense as Seattle, but Drake
- 18:04Speaker 2: did have success when he was blitzed like he was.
- 18:08Speaker 2: He had really good numbers when he was blitzed. You
- 18:12Speaker 2: have to look at that offensive line and how it
- 18:14Speaker 2: was playing in that Super Bowl and you have to
- 18:19Speaker 2: say part of it is, I don't think he had
- 18:21Speaker 2: a lot of confidence in what was in front of
- 18:24Speaker 2: him at that point in the season.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:27Speaker 6: I think though when you talk about cover zero, though,
- 18:29Speaker 6: they're sending too many people, so you're not talking about
- 18:33Speaker 6: I know, you're not talking about actually getting hat on
- 18:35Speaker 6: a hat at that point. I know, so you know
- 18:37Speaker 6: with Seattle what they were doing. You know, they were
- 18:40Speaker 6: setting the guys off the edges, and in the Patriots system,
- 18:43Speaker 6: you're you're locked to one side, you're sliding to the other,
- 18:45Speaker 6: and then the back has somebody the back to dual reading.
- 18:48Speaker 6: If both guys come, you're hot, like there's nobody left.
- 18:51Speaker 2: And then then it's up to the quarterback.
- 18:53Speaker 4: And the receivers.
- 18:54Speaker 6: You know, the receivers need to know that they need
- 18:56Speaker 6: to side toust, they need to turn around and look
- 18:58Speaker 6: for the football. So you know that that's a big
- 19:00Speaker 6: part of it too. Like you know, we can look
- 19:02Speaker 6: at the all twenty two from the Super Bowl and say,
- 19:04Speaker 6: Pop Douglas is wide open down the field, but he's
- 19:07Speaker 6: thirty yards down the field and there's a guy in
- 19:09Speaker 6: Drake May's face in two seconds right, Like, that's not open.
- 19:12Speaker 6: So it was not blaming Pop, but just in general,
- 19:15Speaker 6: for those guys supposed to turn around and look for
- 19:17Speaker 6: the ball, that have been more advantageous than running down
- 19:20Speaker 6: the field thirty yards in a straight line, you know
- 19:22Speaker 6: that sort of thing. So all of those things to
- 19:25Speaker 6: me are more chess match related, and Seattle executes it
- 19:29Speaker 6: to a level than not a lot of teams can,
- 19:31Speaker 6: like they might face that in the season against Miami
- 19:35Speaker 6: or the Jets, and and those teams aren't gonna do
- 19:38Speaker 6: it as well. But when you get to you know,
- 19:40Speaker 6: we talk about getting against these really good teams that
- 19:43Speaker 6: that's what's coming next, you know, is Seattle Week one,
- 19:47Speaker 6: and you know, so on and so forth, that these
- 19:49Speaker 6: teams are going to have good defenses and they're gonna
- 19:52Speaker 6: be able to do those types of things. So those
- 19:54Speaker 6: two coverages were the only two coverages that he had
- 19:57Speaker 6: a negative EPA against. Cover six and Cover zero. Everything
- 20:00Speaker 6: else he was near the top of the league, off
- 20:02Speaker 6: the charts against.
- 20:03Speaker 4: So that's what.
- 20:04Speaker 6: Everybody's gonna call, you know, like that that they're gonna
- 20:07Speaker 6: get into games against the Patriots and they're gonna call
- 20:09Speaker 6: all these different things and see not only Drake May
- 20:12Speaker 6: but Josh McDaniel's like all off season. I hope that
- 20:15Speaker 6: those two guys were coming for with answers, you know, like,
- 20:17Speaker 6: how are we gonna be this?
- 20:19Speaker 2: So I'll just throw this out there, snap comes and
- 20:23Speaker 2: all of a sudden it's Cover zero and those guys
- 20:26Speaker 2: come from both sides. How how is it communicated to
- 20:31Speaker 2: guys already in their route that they have to you know,
- 20:35Speaker 2: cut that route and turn like how how is how.
- 20:38Speaker 7: Do you do that?
- 20:38Speaker 6: So it depends on the play call, right, Like, so
- 20:40Speaker 6: some play calls have a hot route where one guy
- 20:43Speaker 6: is hot and that guy you know you're gonna throw
- 20:46Speaker 6: to that guy Specifically, other play calls, and usually with
- 20:49Speaker 6: the Patriots, they have sight adjustments, so like when you
- 20:51Speaker 6: see a guy blitz over you, you're going to change
- 20:54Speaker 6: your route because you know that the quarterback is hot.
- 20:57Speaker 6: So those are things that just come with everybody kind
- 21:01Speaker 6: of being on the same page. And sometimes also you
- 21:03Speaker 6: could you know, use the running back. Like the running
- 21:06Speaker 6: back can either stay in the block, but if you
- 21:08Speaker 6: see cover zero coming, you could also sneak the running
- 21:11Speaker 6: back out and try to you know, hit him in
- 21:13Speaker 6: the flat or something like that.
- 21:14Speaker 1: So it's not really up to the quarterback.
- 21:16Speaker 2: It's up to the receivers and who would be about
- 21:18Speaker 2: to recognize, Oh, this just happened in front of me,
- 21:21Speaker 2: so I know, I mean, this is what's going to
- 21:23Speaker 2: happen behind me.
- 21:24Speaker 7: I need to adjust.
- 21:25Speaker 6: I'd say all the above, and I think that you know,
- 21:28Speaker 6: not to always compare it. But the thing that Brady
- 21:31Speaker 6: had was a James White, a Julian Edelman, you know,
- 21:35Speaker 6: guys like that that had that cerebralness to them that
- 21:39Speaker 6: those guys were often on top of those different types
- 21:41Speaker 6: of things, and that's where this group needs to get.
- 21:43Speaker 6: There's a lot of young players, there's a lot of
- 21:45Speaker 6: players that are inexperience in the system. You know, they
- 21:48Speaker 6: don't have ten years of data to go off of
- 21:51Speaker 6: like those guys did at times. So you know that
- 21:53Speaker 6: those are the little things that again I don't know
- 21:56Speaker 6: if every team's going to be able to execute it
- 21:57Speaker 6: to the level that Seattle did, but when you get
- 22:00Speaker 6: into the season, they're going to look at it and say,
- 22:03Speaker 6: this is what gave him trouble, you know, in the playoffs,
- 22:05Speaker 6: in the super Bowl, things like that, and this is
- 22:07Speaker 6: what we're going to try to.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Replicated focus on pre snap and them giving him the
- 22:10Speaker 3: tools that when these things are happening, that they can
- 22:13Speaker 3: be all on the same page. And I think that
- 22:15Speaker 3: for a second year quarterback in this system, that that's
- 22:18Speaker 3: a progression that you should look for. You know, I
- 22:20Speaker 3: think last year these things were probably coming and he
- 22:23Speaker 3: didn't have all the answers yet. I think he had
- 22:25Speaker 3: some of the answers, but you know, this year the
- 22:26Speaker 3: expectations should be that he gets them out of bad plays.
- 22:29Speaker 3: I mean, I saw Bert Brew had a report kind
- 22:31Speaker 3: of saying the same thing we've been talking about of
- 22:33Speaker 3: what the expectations are for Drake May and your two
- 22:36Speaker 3: to really master this system.
- 22:37Speaker 2: And you know you want to see more with his
- 22:41Speaker 2: legs the same or less with his legs.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Same, I mean about the same, other than the ball
- 22:47Speaker 3: should have been out you had a guy quick, you
- 22:50Speaker 3: shouldn't have to tuck and run.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I like the way you said that. I would say
- 22:54Speaker 1: roughly the same. But I you know, if he's passing
- 22:58Speaker 1: up throwers that are there to run and it ends
- 23:00Speaker 1: up being the same running, like I would be sort
- 23:02Speaker 1: of disappointed in that. But the bigger thing to me
- 23:05Speaker 1: is he's got to protect the ball better. Yeah, he
- 23:07Speaker 1: led the league in fumbles. I think he had fifteen
- 23:10Speaker 1: fumbles combined. Like, that's a lot of fumbles, and that's
- 23:15Speaker 1: an area Like we're talking about stats, like his stats
- 23:18Speaker 1: might regress, Like I could see him completing seventy two
- 23:20Speaker 1: percent of his passes. Again, I just can't see him
- 23:23Speaker 1: doing it the way he did it last year, along
- 23:25Speaker 1: with the ridiculously high percentage of completions on downfield throws
- 23:30Speaker 1: like that, to me, is very hard to replicate. But
- 23:32Speaker 1: you can be more efficient, and you can protect the
- 23:35Speaker 1: ball better and do things like that, even if the
- 23:37Speaker 1: offensive line doesn't come together the way we think it will,
- 23:41Speaker 1: Like I, this wasn't like to me, a regression isn't
- 23:44Speaker 1: solely responsible at the offensive line, Like I have a
- 23:47Speaker 1: feeling Fred and I if these bad things happen, Fred
- 23:50Speaker 1: and I, you're gonna have semantic arguments on postgame shows
- 23:53Speaker 1: like it's all because you know it's because of the
- 23:55Speaker 1: offensive line, or like now he just made a bad play,
- 23:59Speaker 1: because both of those things can be true.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Yeah, what about design runs for him? You want to
- 24:03Speaker 2: see more of those the red zone goal line?
- 24:05Speaker 4: Yeah, red zone short yardage?
- 24:06Speaker 3: I mean one play like kind of stuff. I mean,
- 24:10Speaker 3: maybe being better on some of the QB sneaks. I
- 24:12Speaker 3: don't think he was, you know, great, didn't have a
- 24:14Speaker 3: great feel for those last year.
- 24:15Speaker 1: That's a good point. That's another spot I think you
- 24:17Speaker 1: could know.
- 24:18Speaker 3: I think I think it's a good sign that we
- 24:20Speaker 3: can look at the MVP runner up and point out
- 24:22Speaker 3: a bunch of different things that we think he can
- 24:24Speaker 3: improve to maybe offset some of the situational things that
- 24:27Speaker 3: kind of felt their way last year, which felt like
- 24:30Speaker 3: they got a lot of breaks last year.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I hope he keeps scrambling, keep running.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Me too. I think that's a big part of his game.
- 24:36Speaker 6: And I think that that's defensively you have to account
- 24:39Speaker 6: for it somehow, whether your pass rush changes, whether you're
- 24:43Speaker 6: spying him, you know, whatever the case may be. I
- 24:45Speaker 6: think that that gives you a big advantage if the
- 24:48Speaker 6: quarterback is a threat, and it's mostly I don't think
- 24:51Speaker 6: that he's he's not a designed runner in my mind,
- 24:54Speaker 6: like he's not Lamar Jackson, where like you're you know,
- 24:57Speaker 6: read options and things like that are going to be
- 24:59Speaker 6: a big part of it. He's a scrambler. He's like
- 25:01Speaker 6: a pure scramb. I'm one with you, and I don't
- 25:03Speaker 6: want to take that away from him.
- 25:05Speaker 1: And if you guys remember, you know before everybody took
- 25:08Speaker 1: some time off, they had that huge seth Wickersham piece
- 25:12Speaker 1: you know from the Broncos. Did you read it? I
- 25:14Speaker 1: think you were away.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Yeah, it was funny.
- 25:16Speaker 1: It was way too long, and it was it was
- 25:19Speaker 1: it was right up your ally because we're going to
- 25:21Speaker 1: have these paragraph along plays that we're just going to
- 25:24Speaker 1: throw them in there every time. We have no idea
- 25:25Speaker 1: what any of it.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Nobody works hard than Sean Payton, right.
- 25:28Speaker 1: But anyway, one of the big takeaways is something that
- 25:30Speaker 1: haven't just touched on about that being a huge part
- 25:33Speaker 1: of Drake May's game, And obviously that was the number
- 25:36Speaker 1: one thing in the scouting report was they wanted to
- 25:38Speaker 1: make sure that they didn't let May hurt them with
- 25:42Speaker 1: his legs. And there was I mean, in a game
- 25:45Speaker 1: that only had one real scoring drive, the big play
- 25:48Speaker 1: on thus scoring drive that gave him the go ahead
- 25:50Speaker 1: field goal, that's the only scoring drive the Patriots had
- 25:54Speaker 1: the whole game, and it was a twenty eight yard scramble.
- 25:57Speaker 1: So like, you can succeed the whole day executing your
- 26:01Speaker 1: game plan, let's not let Drake May hurt us with
- 26:03Speaker 1: his legs. But one play he has this, as Evan
- 26:06Speaker 1: likes to say, superpower, and I don't want to take
- 26:09Speaker 1: that away from it. I think that's a huge game boot.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, and I it was over then I didn't
- 26:14Speaker 1: care about that. But like they don't score, like they
- 26:16Speaker 1: don't score well.
- 26:17Speaker 4: Best won the game.
- 26:19Speaker 1: But I mean my point is that let's put it.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Let's let's say he got five yards instead of seven,
- 26:24Speaker 1: they punt, the game was over. It didn't matter.
- 26:27Speaker 4: I liked it.
- 26:27Speaker 1: But the twenty eight yard run. They don't get the
- 26:31Speaker 1: field goal without that, right, and that's the only score.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Remember the touchdown came on the fumble for Johnny. I
- 26:40Speaker 1: almost said Jared stidhamy is going to call him one
- 26:43Speaker 1: of my pet names, but I probably shouldn't say that
- 26:45Speaker 1: on the air. The kid, yep, if that fumble gave them,
- 26:49Speaker 1: you know with the scoring drivers like twelve yards or
- 26:51Speaker 1: something like that. Like, so the only one drive they
- 26:53Speaker 1: had the whole day, Yeah, was twenty eight yard scrambled
- 26:56Speaker 1: for Drake May.
- 26:57Speaker 4: And flicker the mac hollins. Yeah, that was the other
- 27:00Speaker 4: big play on the on the drive.
- 27:02Speaker 2: On the importance of the locker room, Travis at West
- 27:04Speaker 2: Virginia says, locker room, schmocker room, It's irrelevant.
- 27:08Speaker 7: I don't I disagree.
- 27:10Speaker 6: I normally a'm on that side of the street. I'm
- 27:13Speaker 6: the mad analytics guy that doesn't really account for those
- 27:15Speaker 6: types of things. Being around that team last year changed
- 27:18Speaker 6: my present.
- 27:19Speaker 1: I would just say I bet that anybody that thinks
- 27:22Speaker 1: that way would change their opinion if they were in
- 27:25Speaker 1: the Patriots' locker room in twenty twenty four and then
- 27:28Speaker 1: again in twenty twenty five and didn't see the difference,
- 27:31Speaker 1: because I mean it was apparent with guys like what,
- 27:37Speaker 1: I can't Why can't I not think of the big
- 27:39Speaker 1: defensive line from Miami. No, who's the big defensive lineman
- 27:44Speaker 1: that was here for the Patriots and they gave him
- 27:45Speaker 1: the contract in Belgium on the best Godshaw, you listened
- 27:50Speaker 1: to him in twenty twenty four, and then listen to
- 27:53Speaker 1: like Digs and these guys last year, and you tell
- 27:56Speaker 1: me there's not a difference between that Keon White from
- 27:59Speaker 1: twenty twenty four, and then listen to the way they
- 28:01Speaker 1: talked in the locker room.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Lash Well, I will say, though, let's just say anything.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Milton Williams and celebrity family feuture. Really I always saw that.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Let's just say, in twenty twenty four, Patriots win that
- 28:12Speaker 2: first game in Cincinnati, and then they win three or
- 28:15Speaker 2: four more after that, does all of a sudden the
- 28:18Speaker 2: locker room get better?
- 28:19Speaker 1: Maybe I think it gets better. No, but maybe they're
- 28:21Speaker 1: not bitching about the way they're being used if they're
- 28:23Speaker 1: winning right Like that was a big part of that
- 28:26Speaker 1: thing is there was openly questioning the coaching.
- 28:29Speaker 3: It's not enough by itself to have a locker room.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Everybody cares about it, and I think.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Jalen Polk and conversely, if last year they lost like
- 28:38Speaker 2: the first four games, yeah, started as this is.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Why I like it, so you can have your cute
- 28:44Speaker 1: little like things that you know, Mike gets excited about.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Sorry Mike, I do okay. But you you go to
- 28:50Speaker 1: Buffalo and you win that game the way you want
- 28:53Speaker 1: it and the attitude you had going into that game,
- 28:56Speaker 1: like we're not afraid of anybody will play you anytime
- 28:59Speaker 1: anywhere and we'll in. You lose that game and you
- 29:03Speaker 1: don't get the same response the next time.
- 29:05Speaker 4: The locker room.
- 29:06Speaker 6: After that game in Buffalo was for a regular season game.
- 29:10Speaker 4: I had never seen anything like it. Like it was
- 29:12Speaker 4: just it was levitating.
- 29:14Speaker 1: And you have some opportunities to that to that end
- 29:18Speaker 1: early in the season. Now Seattle and the opener. I'm
- 29:20Speaker 1: not saying like if you don't win it, that's it
- 29:22Speaker 1: o case, but you have that opportunity in Seattle to
- 29:25Speaker 1: have a similar kind of win you go to, was
- 29:29Speaker 1: it Jacksonville is one of those early season ones, you know,
- 29:32Speaker 1: good solid playoff team on the road. There's another one.
- 29:35Speaker 1: There's three one on the Steelers Bills, There's another Buffalo game.
- 29:40Speaker 1: So you have you have three opportunities on the road
- 29:45Speaker 1: to beat solid playoff teams from a year ago and
- 29:49Speaker 1: again established that confidence, that swagger that you did right
- 29:53Speaker 1: out of the shoot with that Buffalo win, because that
- 29:55Speaker 1: was kind of you know, it was a it's a
- 29:56Speaker 1: sluggish start to the season last year. It didn't just
- 29:59Speaker 1: happen automatically. Yeah, you know, they lost the Raiders at home.
- 30:02Speaker 6: I mean, fumble turned it over five times against Pittsburgh
- 30:05Speaker 6: and lost the game they should have won. But I
- 30:07Speaker 6: was thinking about that Buffalo game. That was one of
- 30:09Speaker 6: the most fun games I've ever covered. I mean, it
- 30:11Speaker 6: was a tree there. But I was thinking about Diggs
- 30:15Speaker 6: and the number I can't get out of my head
- 30:18Speaker 6: is that Drake may completed eighty three percent of his
- 30:20Speaker 6: passes just Defawn Diggs last year, Like that is absurd
- 30:25Speaker 6: for a guy that was targeted as much as to
- 30:27Speaker 6: fan Diggs was. That was one of the best performances
- 30:30Speaker 6: I've seen from like a Patriot receiver and probably since
- 30:33Speaker 6: like Randy Moss honestly, maybe Julian Edelman in the Super Bowl,
- 30:37Speaker 6: you know, and he won MVP, like he was just
- 30:39Speaker 6: on a different level, like I you know, it was unbelievable,
- 30:43Speaker 6: and it was right out of the shoot in warm
- 30:45Speaker 6: ups that he just came out there and he literally
- 30:48Speaker 6: almost like went to the like fifty yard line on
- 30:50Speaker 6: the Bill's logo and was like dancing in the middle
- 30:52Speaker 6: of the field like guess.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Who's back, right, And I AJ.
- 30:57Speaker 6: Brown's awesome and he's maybe even better in Stefan Diggs
- 31:00Speaker 6: talent wise.
- 31:02Speaker 4: I just the eighty three.
- 31:03Speaker 6: Percent thing, especially, I can't get out of my head,
- 31:05Speaker 6: like how just insanely efficient that number is? Yep, And
- 31:10Speaker 6: you know, how do you go about replicating that right
- 31:13Speaker 6: football wise?
- 31:14Speaker 3: That Diggs was it Drake? I mean, I know it's
- 31:15Speaker 3: both of them, but like Romeo.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Dobbs is not going to catch eighty three percent of
- 31:19Speaker 4: the passes.
- 31:19Speaker 1: And that's why, like some of the analytics stuff bothers
- 31:23Speaker 1: me because there's a couple of things, and I've seen
- 31:27Speaker 1: this written in a few different places, how Drake may
- 31:30Speaker 1: did that last year with absolutely nothing around nothing nothing zero.
- 31:35Speaker 1: I would push back on that, and that would that
- 31:39Speaker 1: would be exhibit A. Would Evan just explain, Yeah, okay,
- 31:42Speaker 1: that's number one. Now, I do think he has more
- 31:45Speaker 1: around him this year. I think you add Brown and Dobbs,
- 31:49Speaker 1: that's greater than Diggs if you ask me, Well, we'll
- 31:52Speaker 1: see how it unfolds. There's no guarantees in anything, but
- 31:55Speaker 1: I do think he has more to work with this
- 31:57Speaker 1: year than he did last year. We'll see. Yeah, okay,
- 32:00Speaker 1: so I pushed back on that. The other thing is,
- 32:03Speaker 1: I think people, because these analytics are so prevalent now
- 32:07Speaker 1: and you don't watch the games, you just look at
- 32:09Speaker 1: the spreadsheet at the end of the game. Diggs was
- 32:12Speaker 1: like a fifty percent snap guy, right, little over fifty
- 32:16Speaker 1: fifty five, And people look, well, Daves is coming off
- 32:20Speaker 1: of torn ACL you had a limited as usage. But
- 32:23Speaker 1: that doesn't tell the story of the eighty three percent
- 32:26Speaker 1: efficiency rate he had, Right, was that number one in
- 32:30Speaker 1: the league?
- 32:30Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 32:32Speaker 6: How you sort it by targets or you know, minimums
- 32:34Speaker 6: and stuff.
- 32:34Speaker 1: It had to be for whiteouts, it had to be
- 32:36Speaker 1: number one. Yeah, right, Like that's like invaluable, And I
- 32:40Speaker 1: don't think that you can quantify the story that Evan
- 32:45Speaker 1: told about the logo in Buffalo great, like your number
- 32:49Speaker 1: one receiver just went out and said, yep, we're here,
- 32:53Speaker 1: deal with it, and then went out and had that performance.
- 32:56Speaker 1: And by the way, he had that kind of performance
- 32:59Speaker 1: in a couple of other big spots later on. Now,
- 33:02Speaker 1: I've been critical, critical down the end of his postseason,
- 33:07Speaker 1: and I don't think he was quite as good in
- 33:08Speaker 1: the postseason, and that's been his m O. He kind
- 33:11Speaker 1: of runs out of gas a little bit. He's a
- 33:13Speaker 1: little older now.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Was it him running out of gas or teams just
- 33:16Speaker 2: saying we're just not gonna let him beat us.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Well, then you're out of gas if you're allowing the
- 33:21Speaker 1: other team to do But I can't do that to
- 33:22Speaker 1: Jamar Chase or Justin Jeffersons. Teams have no, they.
- 33:26Speaker 7: Don't teams have you know, I think.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I better not be able to do it to a J. Brown.
- 33:31Speaker 2: I think in the NFL, if a team focuses on
- 33:35Speaker 2: one guy, they can shut him down, whether it's an
- 33:37Speaker 2: elite pass rusher or a wide receiver or running back.
- 33:40Speaker 2: But the good teams make them pay for that, for
- 33:43Speaker 2: that that focus.
- 33:44Speaker 7: On that one.
- 33:45Speaker 6: I think they're more equipped to do that this year,
- 33:47Speaker 6: which is where my optimism comes in, is that it's
- 33:50Speaker 6: not just Digs and then a bunch of guys. It's Brown,
- 33:55Speaker 6: Dobbs and you know, Hunter Henry and whats.
- 33:57Speaker 1: All of that do for the running game right right?
- 34:00Speaker 6: Well, that that's a big hope I think, you know
- 34:02Speaker 6: for us nerds is that you know, they saw one
- 34:04Speaker 6: of the highest rates of single high safeties in the
- 34:07Speaker 6: league last year during the regular season because nobody really
- 34:11Speaker 6: respected their outside receivers.
- 34:13Speaker 4: As much as Drake may made them.
- 34:15Speaker 6: Eventually, they didn't during most of the portion of the season.
- 34:20Speaker 6: So having a guy like AJ Brown now who's a
- 34:23Speaker 6: true outside guy and not like a Digs who's more
- 34:25Speaker 6: of an inside player, at this point, do they see
- 34:28Speaker 6: a lot more too high safeties And then it's Reggie
- 34:31Speaker 6: Gilliam and Remandre or Trevion Henderson and then we can
- 34:33Speaker 6: run the ball at you.
- 34:34Speaker 4: So they have we go.
- 34:36Speaker 8: We love it.
- 34:36Speaker 4: More flexibility.
- 34:37Speaker 9: They're easy to defend, not anymore, baby, they have more
- 34:43Speaker 9: answers in that way to pivot, you know, like if
- 34:45Speaker 9: you are going to play us in a too high
- 34:47Speaker 9: shell because of Drake Mays deep ball and AJ Brown
- 34:49Speaker 9: on the outside.
- 34:50Speaker 6: We have a full back, we have two running backs,
- 34:52Speaker 6: we have six offensive linemen that we feel good about playing, and.
- 34:56Speaker 2: We've got an offensive coordinator that can use these guys
- 34:59Speaker 2: figure it out like yet and in the lab.
- 35:01Speaker 7: I don't think anyone's going to stop now.
- 35:03Speaker 1: They won't. They'll be lucky. Well it would be a fluke. Yeah,
- 35:06Speaker 1: I think we've already a stabished. I think that's the
- 35:07Speaker 1: way it could happen, and then no one's going to.
- 35:09Speaker 6: Stop us is obviously, I know you're being facetious. But
- 35:12Speaker 6: top five offense in football, I think is in play
- 35:14Speaker 6: like I I really I think that they have that
- 35:17Speaker 6: kind of arsenal around Drake now that they can kind
- 35:21Speaker 6: of do whatever you need to do.
- 35:22Speaker 4: And I don't know if they could do that last year.
- 35:24Speaker 6: Last year there's a lot of three wide receivers, there's
- 35:26Speaker 6: a lot of Drake may in the shotgun like that
- 35:29Speaker 6: drop back passing. This year, I think they can do
- 35:32Speaker 6: different things. They can run the ball, they can play action,
- 35:35Speaker 6: they can get big and you know, put big people
- 35:37Speaker 6: on the field and run it over, run over you
- 35:39Speaker 6: instead of just throwing it over the top.
- 35:41Speaker 2: If everything on paper comes to fruition is the one
- 35:44Speaker 2: kind of maybe weak link is tight end depth.
- 35:47Speaker 3: I was just going to say, it's like, if Hunter
- 35:49Speaker 3: Henry gets hurt, I think it changes things a lot,
- 35:51Speaker 3: and I think you're kind of scrambling a little bit.
- 35:53Speaker 3: I mean, I even think having Julian Hill that hurt
- 35:55Speaker 3: and now you know, it just puts a spotlight for
- 35:57Speaker 3: me on Hunter Henry. Everything evn't said. You've got all
- 36:00Speaker 3: this ability to do all these different things. If all
- 36:02Speaker 3: of a sudden you're you know, looking at Eli Eridan
- 36:04Speaker 3: getting in there, or you know, Dupre or some you know,
- 36:07Speaker 3: one of these undrafted guys from the last couple of years,
- 36:10Speaker 3: or even Pharaoh Brown, you know, it's it's clearly a
- 36:13Speaker 3: week link that they won't be able to go to.
- 36:15Speaker 1: So I just I'd love to see.
- 36:16Speaker 3: One of these other tight ends maybe at least show
- 36:18Speaker 3: some kind of signs of progress or hope that because
- 36:22Speaker 3: I just feel like right now it's it's kind of
- 36:23Speaker 3: Hunter Henry or Bust at tight end and it's all
- 36:26Speaker 3: on him, and he's you know, an older player's.
- 36:27Speaker 6: Got to be a move coming there. You know, they
- 36:29Speaker 6: hinted at it in the spring. It hasn't happened. Yet,
- 36:32Speaker 6: I wonder if they're going to give these young guys
- 36:34Speaker 6: at least the first couple of weeks of camp to
- 36:36Speaker 6: try to win that job, and then you know, we
- 36:39Speaker 6: get around the preseason starting around there joint practices. Maybe
- 36:43Speaker 6: they're making calls and bringing in a veteran.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm a little concerned about that, and that makes sense.
- 36:49Speaker 1: They've seen teams do things like that before. But if
- 36:51Speaker 1: you have a guy that you want to be a
- 36:53Speaker 1: part of your team, I would think that there's some
- 36:56Speaker 1: urgency to get him in and get him acclimated to
- 36:58Speaker 1: your system as quickly as possible. Now, there's always a
- 37:00Speaker 1: chance that you bring in someone that has some experience
- 37:03Speaker 1: in your system, and maybe the learning curve isn't is great.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Evan and I talked about that when we did our
- 37:07Speaker 1: all Football show you before you guys were on vacation.
- 37:10Speaker 1: We talked about like the John Tui Spens of the
- 37:12Speaker 1: world and just the two just just chopping it up,
- 37:14Speaker 1: Salt Peppa, you just chopping it up, a little talk,
- 37:17Speaker 1: a little ball talking, just talking about bros hanging out,
- 37:20Speaker 1: having a good time.
- 37:21Speaker 2: All right, Eight five five pats five hundred is the hotline.

- 39:05Speaker 2: I've spent my whole life taking care of you. Now
- 39:07Speaker 2: it's time for you to take care of me.
- 39:09Speaker 1: All right, Paul, You've done a great job of taking
- 39:12Speaker 1: care of me. I'm just worried that I'm not gonna
- 39:14Speaker 1: have anyone to take.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Care all right, let's go to the phones. Eight five
- 39:19Speaker 2: five pats five hundred herms in DC. What's up?
- 39:22Speaker 1: Herm?
- 39:24Speaker 10: Hey, what's going on?
- 39:25Speaker 4: Friend?
- 39:25Speaker 8: Listen, I'm gonna process of buying a house. I'll definitely
- 39:28Speaker 8: subscribe to your podcast. So you said you're gonna review
- 39:30Speaker 8: tools and stuff, right.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Yeah, So in the next episode we're actually filming it tonight.
- 39:34Speaker 2: Top ten tools a new homeowner must have, Yeah, a
- 39:40Speaker 2: new homeowner, So that's yeah, screwdriver, yeah.
- 39:43Speaker 8: Right right up my alley. I had a two good
- 39:48Speaker 8: questions one question asoud put Paul in one four all
- 39:50Speaker 8: you guys, my friend Christmas Paul was It's an odd question,
- 39:56Speaker 8: but I'll promise I'm making a point. If I were
- 39:59Speaker 8: to add ask you who is your you know, who's
- 40:03Speaker 8: the best basket player of all time? What would you
- 40:06Speaker 8: What would you answer?
- 40:07Speaker 1: Paul?
- 40:07Speaker 2: Best web player, basketball player, basketball.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Best basketball player of all time? Michael Jordan. Jordan's oh,
- 40:17Speaker 1: thank you. That's really not a yes no answer. That's
- 40:19Speaker 1: very subjective, but yes, that would be my I.
- 40:22Speaker 8: Guess, Michael, I guess I'm a little surprised because I'll
- 40:27Speaker 8: listen to one of the episodes when I was driving
- 40:29Speaker 8: back to the Hamptons and correct, Levall, I think you
- 40:32Speaker 8: said you rather go to ten super Bowls and on
- 40:36Speaker 8: the way three versus going four for four?
- 40:42Speaker 1: Well, yeah, considering.
- 40:44Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, So then how is in Lebron the goat?
- 40:47Speaker 1: Paul Michael Jordan's right, I tested, I got your hair,
- 40:53Speaker 1: no player, but you didn't ask me. You didn't ask
- 40:56Speaker 1: me about accomplishments like I mean, if if we're just
- 41:03Speaker 1: like counting rings and counting like wins. At the end,
- 41:06Speaker 1: Lebron's played longer, he has more points than Jordan's, or
- 41:09Speaker 1: he's better than Jordan's no, like he just played longer.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I think Jordan's better. He also retired in the middle
- 41:18Speaker 1: of his career. He retired in the middle of his
- 41:21Speaker 1: career baseball. Otherwise you could he would.
- 41:24Speaker 8: Have won you. Yeah, well, I guess, guess just win
- 41:29Speaker 8: three over four.
- 41:30Speaker 7: But anyway that.
- 41:31Speaker 1: There's a lot of guys I would take Lebron.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah, see, I didn't even think Bron's Lebron.
- 41:36Speaker 1: I think they'll take Magic.
- 41:38Speaker 2: I'm not a Lebron hater. I know there are a
- 41:40Speaker 2: lot of Lebron haters. I just I only top five.
- 41:46Speaker 2: He may not be my number two though.
- 41:47Speaker 1: That's Lebron I think is better than him too.
- 41:51Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 41:52Speaker 4: Yeah, easily anyway, second play all the time. Thank you
- 42:01Speaker 4: for the call. You can be the biggest Lebron spon Lebron.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Where's he gonna go?
- 42:07Speaker 4: Golden State?
- 42:09Speaker 1: Yeah? You know what I love about this, that's the
- 42:10Speaker 1: trust that nobody cares.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Nobody really does. But it doesn't make a big impact.
- 42:14Speaker 1: It doesn't his his group is putting out there like
- 42:18Speaker 1: the rich Paul the decision this time. No, he's trying.
- 42:23Speaker 1: He's trying. It's the indecision, the ultimate narcissisy.
- 42:26Speaker 7: And you're saying it does make a big impact where
- 42:28Speaker 7: he goes.
- 42:28Speaker 4: Yes, I think it does. Why because he's good?
- 42:33Speaker 1: That's very simple one, the.
- 42:36Speaker 4: One in the bubble.
- 42:37Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't think that Lebron's like, he's not a
- 42:41Speaker 6: number one guy anymore.
- 42:42Speaker 4: He's not.
- 42:43Speaker 6: He's not your your your top guy on a team.
- 42:45Speaker 6: But if he goes to a team that has a
- 42:47Speaker 6: couple of pieces already and he's like the third option
- 42:50Speaker 6: on that team, and he's willing to do that at
- 42:52Speaker 6: this point for Philadelphia.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Threat, you know, Brown was the fourth best player.
- 42:57Speaker 4: I don't know if Threat.
- 42:58Speaker 6: I don't know if Philadelphia works because they already have
- 43:01Speaker 6: so many mouths defeat on that team.
- 43:03Speaker 4: But I think Lebron didn't he just go to Cleveland.
- 43:07Speaker 1: He might be nice on the list, and I think
- 43:09Speaker 1: there'd be no threat to win if he went there either.
- 43:11Speaker 7: I'm not saying, but I mean, just end your career
- 43:13Speaker 7: in Cleveland.
- 43:14Speaker 1: On the list, you know, that's mighty nice.
- 43:18Speaker 4: But that but saying he's not the second best player
- 43:20Speaker 4: of all time.
- 43:21Speaker 2: But I agree, like impact all, I don't think that
- 43:26Speaker 2: like people are waiting with dated breath to see where
- 43:29Speaker 2: he goes.
- 43:29Speaker 7: I don't think it's beyond that now with him.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, if you're a huge Lebron fan, then I
- 43:34Speaker 1: could see you, yeah, you know, waiting on all these
- 43:37Speaker 1: these reports and whatnot. But like if you're just like
- 43:40Speaker 1: an NBA fan or a fan of sports, like you're
- 43:43Speaker 1: not sitting around wondering chief's Lebron gonna go?
- 43:45Speaker 2: And I heard like the NBA is waiting to put
- 43:47Speaker 2: out the schedule, Yeah because of him? Oh yeah, what
- 43:50Speaker 2: does that mean?
- 43:51Speaker 1: That's true?
- 43:53Speaker 2: If he ends up with Cleveland, then the networks can
- 43:55Speaker 2: figure out when they want to put Cleveland games on.
- 43:57Speaker 6: Because they have like their big mark He days like
- 43:59Speaker 6: Christmas stay and stuff like that.
- 44:01Speaker 7: All right, so they can figure they can change the schedules.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Around they don't know they and then change The NFL
- 44:08Speaker 2: does it every week.
- 44:09Speaker 4: Yeah, but that's hour.
- 44:11Speaker 1: That's one of the problems with the NFL is they
- 44:12Speaker 1: have no regard for their fan base.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Just make your schedule, don't wait for him.
- 44:16Speaker 1: He'll what did he just say that out loud? Make
- 44:18Speaker 1: your schedule.
- 44:19Speaker 7: Just make your schedule. I'm not I'm talking about the NBA.
- 44:21Speaker 6: I still not over that. You guys don't think he's
- 44:23Speaker 6: the second best player.
- 44:24Speaker 1: I think he's a great play. He's a great one.
- 44:26Speaker 1: I'm teasing you, guys. Just because I think other guys
- 44:31Speaker 1: are better doesn't mean I don't think he's a great player.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Anthony's in Seattle. What's up, Anthony?
- 44:37Speaker 10: Hey?
- 44:37Speaker 11: What's Fred? Deuce?
- 44:39Speaker 1: Hey?
- 44:40Speaker 11: Welcome back, Paul and Evan?
- 44:42Speaker 1: Thank you?
- 44:43Speaker 11: Hey. Uh so you guys did it? You could you
- 44:46Speaker 11: You converted me. You know, you've you've eat somebody over
- 44:50Speaker 11: the head, you know, for long enough, eventually you're gonna
- 44:52Speaker 11: you're gonna leave it not And I watched the World
- 44:56Speaker 11: Cup finale and uh, it's you know, it's it's one
- 44:59Speaker 11: of those things where it's it's everywhere, so you know,
- 45:03Speaker 11: you have ample opportunity to to uh to get in
- 45:05Speaker 11: front of the TV. So I went to brunch with
- 45:08Speaker 11: with the wife and I told myself, I said, Okay,
- 45:09Speaker 11: I'm just gonna when I get home, I'm gonna turn
- 45:11Speaker 11: it on and if it's watchable, I'll watch it. If not,
- 45:13Speaker 11: I'll just you know, change the channel. And man, it
- 45:16Speaker 11: was more than watchable.
- 45:17Speaker 1: It was.
- 45:17Speaker 11: I I enjoyed it. It was a you know, it
- 45:20Speaker 11: was it was a fun watch. I think part of
- 45:22Speaker 11: it was I thought that you guys a lot.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Actually.
- 45:25Speaker 11: Uh, one of the things was the stakes. And it's
- 45:28Speaker 11: like a person who doesn't watch football, but then they
- 45:30Speaker 11: watch the Super Bowl. When you when the stakes are
- 45:32Speaker 11: really high, you know how much it means to so
- 45:34Speaker 11: many people. You know, it obviously enhances the watchings. But I,
- 45:40Speaker 11: based on the newsletter, it seemed like you guys were
- 45:42Speaker 11: kind of either rooting for Spain or you thought Spain
- 45:45Speaker 11: would win. And it didn't take me long to recognize that.
- 45:51Speaker 11: I don't think I can talk intelligently enough about the
- 45:54Speaker 11: game to say that they were better, but I don't
- 45:56Speaker 11: think it's arguable that like they are faster. It was
- 45:59Speaker 11: it was. It wasn't like they couldn't run with them.
- 46:01Speaker 11: And I thought Argentina's goalie had I thought you had
- 46:04Speaker 11: himself a day, but I just felt like it was
- 46:07Speaker 11: and by him. And then lastly, and I'll get off
- 46:11Speaker 11: the phone, and I love that it's back to football.
- 46:13Speaker 11: So I certainly don't want to high check the show.
- 46:15Speaker 11: But Paul, I thought of you, man. I thought of
- 46:17Speaker 11: you the first time that a guy died and then
- 46:20Speaker 11: was magically resurrected ten seconds later. I didn't even react
- 46:23Speaker 11: when the guy hit the ground. I just knew. I'm like,
- 46:25Speaker 11: he's faking. These guys flop, but just in the flopping
- 46:28Speaker 11: in general is exhausting, and I wonder, and here I
- 46:32Speaker 11: am some non soccer guy coming in talking about the rules,
- 46:34Speaker 11: but I do wonder if they have thought about explored, uh,
- 46:40Speaker 11: you know, adding penalties for flopping, because it's like.
- 46:44Speaker 7: Every time I get there, it's got to be egregious.
- 46:46Speaker 1: They did it a little bit early in the group play.
- 46:49Speaker 1: I saw that archaetimes.
- 46:51Speaker 6: Give it to you, but I Did's a cultural thing,
- 46:54Speaker 6: like until it starts to be frowned upon by the
- 46:56Speaker 6: other players.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Who was the first flopper in soccer?
- 47:00Speaker 2: We know? I mean, gonna soccer historian, tell me where
- 47:04Speaker 2: did that start?
- 47:05Speaker 4: I mean, it's always been a part of.
- 47:08Speaker 7: Our generation, but I don't know, like was it always
- 47:10Speaker 7: that way?
- 47:10Speaker 1: I judge it by the amount of barrel rolls they
- 47:12Speaker 1: do after they go down right right right. It's a tough.
- 47:15Speaker 6: One that you're not a soccer fan to watch the
- 47:18Speaker 6: World Cup final was that's a tough first game because.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I had heard it was kind of dull.
- 47:22Speaker 6: I didn't, yeah, to appreciate one side well, but to
- 47:27Speaker 6: appreciate how good Spain was in that game is to
- 47:30Speaker 6: understand the defensive tactics and things like that, which is
- 47:33Speaker 6: not the sexy part of the game. So it's a
- 47:35Speaker 6: lot like football, like you know, defensive battle like a
- 47:38Speaker 6: Super Bowl fifty three, thirteen to three game. You know,
- 47:41Speaker 6: it depends on who your perspective on life on whatever.
- 47:45Speaker 7: I think of the halftime it works up.
- 47:48Speaker 4: I think that the.
- 47:50Speaker 6: What I don't understand about halftime shows is like people
- 47:53Speaker 6: that get so mad that they didn't like it. It's like,
- 47:56Speaker 6: for like you don't have to watch it, and it's
- 47:58Speaker 6: like fifteen minutes of your life, like, you know, I don't.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Know, go to the store. I didn't realize there was
- 48:03Speaker 1: a show.
- 48:03Speaker 6: People just gets so like animated about how much they
- 48:06Speaker 6: hated and it's because it really was fine.
- 48:08Speaker 2: I thought it was uplett, you know, it was Upbeataten
- 48:11Speaker 2: who wasn't from when Bieber.
- 48:12Speaker 4: Was It was a bunch of people pts Bieber.
- 48:15Speaker 2: I got a little whiplash watching Shakira's hips, I mean, unbelievable.
- 48:20Speaker 2: She's like, what in her fifty Yeah she's.
- 48:23Speaker 4: Still killed fifty. He still chills fantastic.
- 48:26Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Yeah. But when Justin Bieber came out. It just brought
- 48:31Speaker 2: the whole house down. He did a good way, comes
- 48:33Speaker 2: out with a guitar and he's like really slow, and
- 48:36Speaker 2: everything before that was like, you know, lively and upbeat,
- 48:39Speaker 2: and then he comes he does his thing, and then
- 48:41Speaker 2: he comes out and Shakira comes out and brought it
- 48:43Speaker 2: back up.
- 48:44Speaker 7: But like, why bring him out? He brought the whole
- 48:46Speaker 7: house down?
- 48:46Speaker 6: Well you can. He has so many songs that are upbeat.
- 48:49Speaker 6: I don't know why they picked that acoustic song. No, no,
- 48:54Speaker 6: even that would have been better. It was like one
- 48:56Speaker 6: of his newer acoustic songs. I don't know why he
- 48:58Speaker 6: didn't do like one of his like you know, get
- 49:00Speaker 6: the party started type of what.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Like she will for something.
- 49:04Speaker 2: She did the World Cups. Play every every game when
- 49:08Speaker 2: the guys come out, she did you know, she performed that.
- 49:12Speaker 6: She's she's the World Cup, right, there's a dumb person.
- 49:15Speaker 3: Right, And there's always like a song that they do
- 49:17Speaker 3: for the World Cup, right, like everything.
- 49:19Speaker 6: Ye Like, so Waka Waka is the most popular one,
- 49:21Speaker 6: I would say, yeah, And I was a little disappointed.
- 49:25Speaker 4: I thought maybe she was going to do that mix
- 49:27Speaker 4: it in.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Because that's but I thought it was a really good show.
- 49:29Speaker 4: It's a banger.
- 49:30Speaker 6: I liked it, but yeah, that's a tough game to like. Like,
- 49:32Speaker 6: the best player in that game was Roger, the Spain's
- 49:35Speaker 6: central midfielder. You're like, that's not something that it's not
- 49:39Speaker 6: like Messy or like you know, Lemna Mal up top
- 49:42Speaker 6: like someone that's scoring goals.
- 49:44Speaker 4: It's just the way he controlled the midfield is what I.
- 49:46Speaker 3: Had n't watched much of thema Mal before that game.
- 49:49Speaker 3: And he's another one like Messi where it's like the
- 49:50Speaker 3: ball is just glued to his feet and he's just.
- 49:52Speaker 1: Making little little moves.
- 49:54Speaker 3: But I did develop some of the appreciation that you're
- 49:56Speaker 3: talking about ev with just the defensive attitude that just
- 50:00Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know the exits nose, but how
- 50:02Speaker 3: quickly they closed and there was just no space to
- 50:04Speaker 3: breathe and they are constantly, you know, on top of
- 50:07Speaker 3: Argentina the second gig they got the ball.
- 50:08Speaker 1: I mean, it was just it was interesting.
- 50:10Speaker 3: There's a lot of the other games I watched I
- 50:11Speaker 3: appreciated guys like holland the talented guys, but this was
- 50:14Speaker 3: one where it was like kind of a team win.
- 50:15Speaker 2: You know.
- 50:15Speaker 1: It's just like these guys are just dam that was
- 50:17Speaker 1: the Yamal was the guy that I chose. Alex asked
- 50:20Speaker 1: us if there was a player that we hadn't heard of,
- 50:23Speaker 1: and again, I'm a soccer nubes, like, I don't know
- 50:26Speaker 1: any of these guys other than you know, the messies
- 50:28Speaker 1: and the babes of the world. You know, I don't
- 50:30Speaker 1: know the That's a guy I had never heard of.
- 50:34Speaker 1: And I watched a couple of the games and I
- 50:35Speaker 1: was like, this kid hasn't so.
- 50:38Speaker 4: I was glad to find out he was the MVP
- 50:40Speaker 4: of Euros two years ago. He plays for Barcelona, I know.
- 50:43Speaker 1: And that's and I wrote that in my things, like
- 50:45Speaker 1: I know, I know everybody knows who this is except
- 50:48Speaker 1: for me, But I chose that was the one guy
- 50:51Speaker 1: that in Dallas. What's up, Chad, how's it going, y'all?
- 50:55Speaker 12: I'm talking about bringing out something Fred send. In the
- 50:57Speaker 12: beginning of the show, Fred was talking about he's not
- 51:01Speaker 12: worried about anything on the offense, and I am worried
- 51:05Speaker 12: about the injury bug.
- 51:07Speaker 1: You can weave off that on offense part. That's not
- 51:10Speaker 1: worried about anything. Everything's great, everything's great.
- 51:13Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, we're always it worried about injuries, But is
- 51:17Speaker 2: it really worth it to even worry about it. They're
- 51:19Speaker 2: gonna happen, yeah, you know, and there's nothing you can
- 51:22Speaker 2: do about it, So like, don't worry about it.
- 51:25Speaker 1: But if they if they stay healthy, I still I
- 51:27Speaker 1: have other worries, Like it's not like, oh, the only
- 51:29Speaker 1: thing that can stop them is if they're not playing
- 51:32Speaker 1: like no, like no, especially the offensive line. How's that
- 51:34Speaker 1: all come together?
- 51:36Speaker 12: I believe in laws of averages a little bit. I
- 51:39Speaker 12: felt like last year were on the good side of
- 51:41Speaker 12: the injury. Yeah, the good side of the injury.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 51:44Speaker 12: I feel like we brought another guy in that's injury
- 51:47Speaker 12: prone on the offensive line.
- 51:49Speaker 4: I'm not sure.
- 51:50Speaker 1: I think so.
- 51:50Speaker 12: I think he came from the Jets as well, just
- 51:53Speaker 12: like Moses. Yeah, so that those make me scretly worried
- 51:58Speaker 12: because I think Gibson lash Yield was actually a big
- 52:02Speaker 12: miss for injury. I think our second second round running
- 52:05Speaker 12: back really didn't show up at all. That can happen
- 52:08Speaker 12: the end of the year.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't look at what anybody did with the
- 52:11Speaker 2: Jets as what they're going to do after the Jets.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Second.
- 52:15Speaker 2: That goes for Sam Donald or anybody.
- 52:18Speaker 6: You know, Yeah, the one thing I'm I'm looking for
- 52:23Speaker 6: in camp on the offensive line. And thanks Gatle about
- 52:25Speaker 6: this in the position preview that we did. Lomu playing
- 52:30Speaker 6: a little bit at guard in the spring, you know,
- 52:33Speaker 6: perked my ears up a little bit because if Avt
- 52:36Speaker 6: does get hurt, I think we all kind of assumed
- 52:38Speaker 6: that Ben Brown might be the guy that had to
- 52:40Speaker 6: fill in there.
- 52:41Speaker 4: But do they feel like Lomu could play some left guard?
- 52:45Speaker 6: And if they do, then I feel like you have
- 52:49Speaker 6: a built in layer of depth for AVT injury at
- 52:53Speaker 6: that point. You know, Ben Brown has to play left
- 52:55Speaker 6: guard for twelve thirteen, fourteen games and playoff games and stuff.
- 52:59Speaker 6: That's a little bit concerning. But if your first round
- 53:02Speaker 6: pick is playing there instead and he's you know, playing
- 53:05Speaker 6: at a decent level, I feel a little bit better
- 53:07Speaker 6: about that. But we'll see how much he plays there
- 53:12Speaker 6: in camp. I'm interested to see how much they cross
- 53:14Speaker 6: train him at all four spots, honestly on the right
- 53:17Speaker 6: side and the left side.
- 53:18Speaker 3: I will I'll just say, how's Wilson look at center?
- 53:20Speaker 1: You know?
- 53:21Speaker 3: Is that a seamless transition? Is he you know, better
- 53:23Speaker 3: player there?
- 53:24Speaker 1: Does he? You know? Do we see why they.
- 53:26Speaker 3: Wanted to move him, you know, kind of to his
- 53:28Speaker 3: natural position. Is you know, is there a considerable jump
- 53:31Speaker 3: in his players in and.
- 53:32Speaker 1: You you should expect improvement from Campbell and Wilson in
- 53:35Speaker 1: year two. They should be better players. It's just natural.
- 53:38Speaker 7: Yep.
- 53:39Speaker 2: Darius and Louisville loved every fourge episode, but come on, Ford,
- 53:43Speaker 2: only thirty minutes. That was a little disappointing. Well, just
- 53:45Speaker 2: so you know, there's a new rule with the league
- 53:48Speaker 2: that teams can't do more than thirty minutes of behind
- 53:52Speaker 2: the scenes type of content per week, so we're limited
- 53:58Speaker 2: this year.
- 53:59Speaker 4: I actually liked it.
- 54:00Speaker 1: It's a I didn't. I haven't seen it yet, but
- 54:02Speaker 1: it's amazing. You're just going to get criticism, Like I
- 54:07Speaker 1: can't tell you how I can't tell you how many
- 54:09Speaker 1: people reached out to me about the ones that we
- 54:12Speaker 1: did last year, like too long, this is really good.
- 54:14Speaker 1: It's way too long, right, that was way too long.
- 54:16Speaker 1: This is way too long. Make it thirty minutes. It's like,
- 54:20Speaker 1: this is too short.
- 54:21Speaker 6: Yeah, I thought it was great. I thought it was
- 54:23Speaker 6: a tight twenty eight minute it was.
- 54:24Speaker 7: It was very good.
- 54:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it flowed well.
- 54:26Speaker 6: It didn't have as much like I didn't feel like
- 54:29Speaker 6: I was there was any repetition or anything like that.
- 54:32Speaker 6: As much as mind as longer I would.
- 54:35Speaker 3: Push back a little bit, I would have one that
- 54:36Speaker 3: would be my one note was like, I felt like
- 54:38Speaker 3: we relived the AJ Brown arriving here three times.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Like I felt like we opened it.
- 54:41Speaker 3: With him arriving and like and then and when there's rumors.
- 54:43Speaker 1: He might and I'm like, didn't he already come?
- 54:45Speaker 3: That was my only critique of it was Yeah, the
- 54:47Speaker 3: open hat, Yeah, And that was a little bit like
- 54:49Speaker 3: where are we?
- 54:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I threw me off too, But then I realized
- 54:53Speaker 6: that that was like kind of like a montage open
- 54:55Speaker 6: of what the episode was going to be. H And
- 54:57Speaker 6: so then because there was one speech that veryble that
- 55:00Speaker 6: was on the practice field that repeated, but it was
- 55:03Speaker 6: because like the ten seconds of it was in the
- 55:06Speaker 6: little opening montage and then it came back and you
- 55:09Speaker 6: saw the full thing later on.

- 57:34Speaker 3: And today we're going to talk about the running backs
- 57:37Speaker 3: coming back in with ramondre Stevenson, Trevier and Henderson kind
- 57:39Speaker 3: of headlining this group. A little bit of transition though
- 57:42Speaker 3: we had Antonio Gibson briefly last year he got hurt.
- 57:45Speaker 3: Don't only seemed like, you know, they trusted in the
- 57:47Speaker 3: draft with jam Miller, but otherwise not really an obvious
- 57:51Speaker 3: third candidate into that role. Terrell Jennings still kind of
- 57:54Speaker 3: kicking around as well. But let's start at the top
- 57:58Speaker 3: with Ramondre Stevenson, who you know missed a few games
- 58:00Speaker 3: with injury ev but overall he's one of the best
- 58:03Speaker 3: pass protection and make sure you let Paul talk about that.
- 58:05Speaker 3: Paul appreciates from Wander his pass protection. But just an
- 58:08Speaker 3: all around back, you can kind of do it all
- 58:10Speaker 3: and if you could just stay healthy, he's one of
- 58:11Speaker 3: the best backs in this league.
- 58:12Speaker 6: Yeah, down the stretch, he was one of the best
- 58:14Speaker 6: backs in football last year you know, a guy that
- 58:17Speaker 6: was right near the top of the league and yards
- 58:19Speaker 6: per carry, yards after contact, like all those fancy metrics
- 58:22Speaker 6: that I liked that he was really one of the
- 58:25Speaker 6: more productive workhorse running backs down the stretch of the season.
- 58:30Speaker 4: They had the little fumbling issues early on.
- 58:33Speaker 6: Especially that Pittsburgh game, but then he didn't fumble the
- 58:35Speaker 6: rest of the season, so maybe that's behind him as well.
- 58:38Speaker 6: The pass blocking, you know, I think all of it
- 58:41Speaker 6: kind of came together for him down the stretch to
- 58:43Speaker 6: the point where he really was the bell cow in
- 58:47Speaker 6: the playoffs and played seventy percent of the snaps in
- 58:49Speaker 6: the playoffs, and Treveon Henderson was kind of an afterthought
- 58:52Speaker 6: at that point. So it's not a criticism of either
- 58:55Speaker 6: one of those guys, but if just looking at that
- 58:58Speaker 6: duo or that tandem, you just would like to see
- 59:00Speaker 6: them peak at the same time a little bit more
- 59:03Speaker 6: consistently this year.
- 59:04Speaker 4: I felt like last year they were kind of dueling fiddles,
- 59:08Speaker 4: like it was.
- 59:08Speaker 6: Travon Henderson was hot for a couple of weeks, then
- 59:11Speaker 6: Ramandre was hot for a couple.
- 59:12Speaker 4: Of weeks, but they never really had them both rolling at.
- 59:15Speaker 6: The same time to really truly be that one two punch,
- 59:18Speaker 6: But I don't know what more you could have asked
- 59:20Speaker 6: for Ramandri and Stevenson down the stretch of last season,
- 59:23Speaker 6: you know, last month of the regular season into the playoffs,
- 59:25Speaker 6: he was excellent.
- 59:26Speaker 1: And I'm going to be really interested to see how
- 59:28Speaker 1: the presence of Reggie Gilliam at fullback impacts both of them.
- 59:31Speaker 1: And I know there's been a lot of talk about
- 59:32Speaker 1: Henderson maybe you know, maybe the lacking vision at times
- 59:36Speaker 1: and how that could help him, but I think it
- 59:39Speaker 1: might have an impact on Stevenson as well. So we
- 59:41Speaker 1: know Josh McDaniels likes to utilize that position. Gilliam is
- 59:45Speaker 1: a really good one. I think he's a pretty versatile one.
- 59:47Speaker 1: He's not just sort of a meathead blocker. He can move.
- 59:51Speaker 1: He's got some athleticism too his game. So I'm curious
- 59:53Speaker 1: to see how McDaniels implements, you know, two back sets
- 59:57Speaker 1: with a traditional fullback. Are we are we sleeping on
- 59:59Speaker 1: Henderson eleven hundred yards last year total, you know, combined
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: between rushing and receiving ten touchdowns, you know, but quiet
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: down the stretch out and as you said, it was
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: kind of all Ramondra Stevenson as you got down into
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: the playoffs and into the super Bowl. We saw him
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: this spring. The guy runs like lightning. I mean it's
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: you can just see the acceleration. You think it will
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: be even better here in year two as he gets
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: a full offseason in the NFL program. But are we
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: sleeping on Trevon Henderson a little bit as maybe a
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: year two guy who could really elevate and be that
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: one two punch with with Ramondra and be even better.
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I think maybe a little bit.
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: Because you know, I was writing up the written version
- 1:00:34Speaker 6: of this recap or preview, I guess I should say,
- 1:00:37Speaker 6: and I was looking at the numbers, and led the
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: team in touches, led the team in yards, led the
- 1:00:43Speaker 6: team in.
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: Touchdown Cravon Henderson's right across the board.
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: And I don't think if you asked somebody, hey, who
- 1:00:48Speaker 6: led to the Patriots and yards, you know, total yards.
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: From scrimmage last year, that people would guess Henderson.
- 1:00:54Speaker 6: They might say Diggs, they might say Remandre and he
- 1:00:57Speaker 6: I don't think his name would come to mine, you know,
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: top of mind. But I think a couple of things
- 1:01:02Speaker 6: that you look at from his game is just sort
- 1:01:04Speaker 6: of understanding the NFL game and developing in that respect.
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: There's no doubt he can run like the wind and
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: has great explosiveness and athleticism and can make big plays happen.
- 1:01:14Speaker 6: But the vision between the tackles that Paul is talking about,
- 1:01:17Speaker 6: the pacing like sometimes I feel like he's honestly going
- 1:01:20Speaker 6: too fast.
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: Both as a runner and a pass catcher.
- 1:01:24Speaker 6: Pass blocking obviously is a lot mental that I think
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: that that didn't exactly translate from college to the pros
- 1:01:30Speaker 6: for him as a rookie. So all these elements I
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: think are more between the ears than they are anything physical.
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: But can he develop that part of his game. Can
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: he see the field a little bit better? Can he
- 1:01:42Speaker 6: understand how to set up his blocks a little bit better?
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: Those types of things could maybe help him elevate from
- 1:01:47Speaker 6: what was a really good rookie season that I do
- 1:01:49Speaker 6: think is getting slept on a little bit to a
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: breakout second season.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, to me. The thing but Henderson is consistency,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: like Kevin said, and if you look at the number,
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: the numbers are terrific. They were very concentrated in a
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: short amount of time where he just exploded, you know,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: that Tampa Bay game, you know, the Buffalo home loss.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: He had some big runs in there. I think what
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: the coaching staff is looking for. Mikeabel talked about this
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: a lot is more consistency to the running game, more
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: so than just flat out production. The numbers are what
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: they are. I think he had four touchdowns of fifty
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: yards or more. That's great. And that home run ability,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: you know, no one wants to take that away from him.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Hopefully that he keeps that while adding a lot of
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: eight and you know, eight and ten yard runs with it.
- 1:02:34Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: Well, like a lot of the precisions on this roster, guys,
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: it's like, you get to the top two Henderson Stevenson,
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: really good, exciting young guy, promising some explosion. You cover
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: your bases. But that's where the questions start. And I
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: mean I put Reggie Gilliam in that group too. I
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: know he's a fullback with Brock Lampy competing at that
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: spot too. But you know, behind those guys, ev I
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: know you got some real estate on land Larison Islands,
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: so I'm sure you can talk. Was that the best
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: spray here for my boy? But Terrell Jennings, you know
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: he's been around He's a practice squad guy. He was
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: brought up, got hurt last year, so he's been, you know,
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: hanging on jam Miller. They brought in from Alabama who's
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: got some potential as well, and Miles Montgomery, the undrafted rookie.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: It's kind of a mishmash. I don't know how that's
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: all going to play out. What do you think.
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: Yeah, we're putting all.
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: These names in the hat and hopefully pulling out an
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: RB three out of somewhere here. You know, I still
- 1:03:20Speaker 6: think Glenn Arrison's going to have his day. You know,
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: he's gonna have a say in all of this seat
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: at the table. I really just like his his pass
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: catching ability out of the backfield. I think he runs
- 1:03:31Speaker 6: with good power, good sturdiness as well. We saw that
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: in the preseason a little bit last year before he
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: shut it down. But I think that he's probably, to me,
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: the guy that has the most skill out of this
- 1:03:41Speaker 6: group and kind of excites me the most. Jam Miller,
- 1:03:44Speaker 6: you know, maybe a little bit more as well as
- 1:03:47Speaker 6: you know, as the second guy in that conversation too.
- 1:03:49Speaker 6: But I know it's not sexy, but it is going
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: to come down to special teams like the guy that
- 1:03:53Speaker 6: returns kickoffs the best, the guy that can play in
- 1:03:56Speaker 6: the kicking game the most. You are really banking on
- 1:04:00Speaker 6: Stevenson and Henderson being your your two primary backs in
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: this backfield. Uh, and the third guy is going to
- 1:04:06Speaker 6: have to find a game day role on special teams
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: and in the kicking game. So last year, whether it
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: was Terrell Jennings or Dearness Johnson or Antonio Gibson, all
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: of those guys returned kickoffs at some point last season.
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: So that's going to be a big part of this
- 1:04:20Speaker 6: as well. And we probably have to wait till the
- 1:04:22Speaker 6: preseason games to fully grasp that.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: That's what I was gonna say. We always bring back
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: such a hard position, Paul to evaluate in training camp.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: I mean, you get into the preseason games, but you
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: got to assume that Stevenson Henderson probably not seen a
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: lot of carries in the preseason, so you know, they
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: closed opportunity probably for these guys Torell Jenning, TM Miller, Larison,
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: even Montgomery to get a lot of catch.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: I mean, the kick returning roll is a good point too,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: because clearly they want to stay away from some other
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: guys and those those train wrecks, you know, and we'll
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: talk about you know, wide receivers too. You know, there's
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: there's a lot of depth there and maybe one of
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: those guys factors into the return game there. But someone's
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: going to emerge out of that group. And also don't
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: dismiss the possibility. The way they use the practice squad
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: now with all those spots, and you know, you see
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: teams effortlessly, you know, sort of navigating that throughout the season.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: The third running back very well could be on the
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: practice squad for the majority of the year.
- 1:05:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm not too worried about it because they have
- 1:05:15Speaker 6: enough names in the hat and you see these teams
- 1:05:19Speaker 6: just find third running backs to the late draft picks
- 1:05:22Speaker 6: ud fas all the time. So even though it might
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: not be like an Antonio Gibson who has some proven
- 1:05:27Speaker 6: NFL experience, I think one of these guys, like Paul said,
- 1:05:31Speaker 6: will eventually emerge.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: All right, Well that's the running back position.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: Feel great about Henderson and Stevenson, but some interesting competition
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: going into training camp behind them.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: And now great moments in.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: History Richard and Prague. Right, Sin, please tell Matt Lauer
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: lookalike he's wrong. It's pronounced Edinburgh, not Edinburgh.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: This just won't go all time out.
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: I haven't finished time out because I.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: Know he's gonna Yeah.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: I was my more lenions of the email, the time out,
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: you read the whole thing as a matter of fact,
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: I not an offer.
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: Fred hasn't read any of the emails, and there have
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: been that have said Eric's right.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: You've refused to read any of those. I've seen comments
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: on Twitter that's used absolutely refused.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: The tour guide who told him otherwise was clearly a
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: major bell end. I've never heard that.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: That must be in Scottish frog thing. I just thought
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: it was funny, they said. One of the guys said
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: I was right, and I didn't even know what I
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: was saying. I was just kind of throwing like edin Burgh.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: All right back here on Patriots on Filtered eight five
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: to five. PATS five hundred is the hotline podcast at
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: Patriots dot com is the email address. Uh so we're
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: talking everything we were talking about. Somebody challenge us about
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: Jordan versus Lebron in terms of how many championships they
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: won and all that stuff, or how many they went
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: to Anthony says ten out of ten times, you take
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: more trips to the super Bowl as opposed to going
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: to less in being undefeated.
- 1:07:01Speaker 7: It's not up for debate. But that's different. That's a
- 1:07:04Speaker 7: different argument.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: It is a different argument, but it is up for
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: debate because it's your opinion. Opinions are well by definition
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: for debate.
- 1:07:11Speaker 7: People can say that just to be demonstrative.
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: Alway, isn't that true if you're like tied. So I
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: look at it like medals in the Olympics, right, like
- 1:07:19Speaker 6: Brady has seven goals and he's got well how many silvers? Right,
- 1:07:23Speaker 6: but like that Lebron and Jordan aren't equal on golds,
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: Like Jordan has won more titles than Lebron, So like,
- 1:07:31Speaker 6: no matter how many times Lebron has been.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: That's well, that's why Fred said, that's not the same.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: I don't think it's out.
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: Both of them are like four and four, but one
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: of them has been ten times.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: And lost six of us more like the Montana Brady,
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: but Brady Montana is four for four.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: People credit credited Montana with being four and oh as
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: opposed to Brady's whatever, seven and three. I'll take seven
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: and three over four and oh any day of the week.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: I don't think that that's an arg that that to
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: me is not up for debate. But that's my opinion.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: So someone else might say, no, Montana was better because
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: he went there and never lost, right.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: Like, debates what about all the playoff games he lost
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: that Brady didn't, Because you.
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: Know, that's my mindset. That's that's why I think it's
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: more impressive to go to the super Bowl and lose
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: as opposed to lose forty nine to three to the
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Giants on the way to the super Bowl, right like,
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: which is what Montana did in the heart of his career.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Not that it was his fault. I'm just saying, like
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: Brady didn't have those.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: Nope, sure didn't. All right emails, Joe Wright said, Paul,
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: the cute little things that Mike gets excited about are
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: the things Tom Brady credits for turning his career around
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: in Michigan and getting him on the field in New England.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: Attitude and energy.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: Yeah, Paul, Yeah, Paul, be talking about try to kick
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: out my clanking bottles together, saying Warriors is not what
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: got Tom Brady onto about And that's what I was
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: teasing Mike about. So fun, No great movie I'm not
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: telling you that they don't have fun doing it. That's
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: absolutely fun. Just don't tell me that that's why they
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: be done for it, Like it's not.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: It's not the act of the clanking of the bottles,
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: but just the camaraderie, the energy and the excitement, the friends.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: You know, right, that's the The energy and camaraderie is
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: what I'm interested in, not the bottles. Okay, do you
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. I know what you're saying, And
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: you can have one without the other. I just don't need. Now,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: some people love that stuff. They eat it up. Matter
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: of fact, in this day and age in the culture,
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: where's that going? That's going viral today? And that's the
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: cute thing that people. It's just I guess I'm old
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: and like that stuff doesn't really resonate with me the
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: way it does probably someone who's in their mid twenties.
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: It doesn't resonate with me either.
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: But this goes back to when Paul played sports, Because
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: when Paul played sports, he didn't.
- 1:09:57Speaker 7: Like the raw ro guys.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: No, I did not.
- 1:09:59Speaker 15: I did the heart you did, the guys that were
- 1:10:03Speaker 15: always like you know, I was, I was, well, you
- 1:10:06Speaker 15: don't have to be a heart o, but like could
- 1:10:09Speaker 15: but I was kind of an energy, raw ra guy
- 1:10:11Speaker 15: when I played.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: I can't.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: I can't tell you that because I didn't have the talent.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: That's probably why, if you want to go real armchair psychologist,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: I pushed back on those guys because they represented my
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: own shortcomings.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: The talented guys, these guys, the clappers. I thought you,
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: I thought you liked the talented guys, and you like talent.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: I try hard because I envied them. But I wasn't
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: try hard because I didn't have the ability to not do.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Wait in your life, what you didn't know, you didn't try.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: I tried, I tried. I tried. Believe me, I don't know.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: I wasn't a lack of effort away from being in
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: the major leagues.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: That's not what Tommy did, Debosa told me. Ever, let's
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: see David Wright saying, glad to see the full compliment.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: How about each guy picking the player you think will
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: show the most improvement most, who who will show the
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: most improvement? I think that's an interesting Rookies are out
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: because they haven't improved yet. And it's hard to say
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: Drake because I mean he said a really high bar.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: I mean, a lot of these guys play.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: If you think, if you think again, the numbers don't
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: have to improve, but if you think mentally he's approved that,
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: that to me, that's a big leap.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: It just falls back on semantics. All I'm gonna go
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: on the easiest one.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: And I don't even know if I believe it, but
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: I'm gonna say, Kyle Williams, I knew that was can
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: say I.
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: Don't believe that. You don't believe you did not say
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: that with your.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: Is that out a hope?
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: That's not a VA that's got a hope, that's out
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: of hope, I think.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: But there aren't a lot of players I feel like
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: you can say, like you really need something, Will Campbell,
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: Jarre Wilson.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: I think Campbell is a good pick. I believe it.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: In fact, that was what I might have picked.
- 1:12:02Speaker 6: I would say Craig Woodson, I think what's my pick?
- 1:12:06Speaker 6: The playoffs were the build and then I think this season,
- 1:12:10Speaker 6: you know, I think he's got a chance to be stole,
- 1:12:13Speaker 6: but considered one of the top ten safeties in the league.
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: Question for you to it, do you think do you
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: think they're going to go back to a little bit
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: more traditional safety roles with Buyered on the back end
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: and what's it's gonna play more in the box this year,
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: And I mean, I think that fits into your narrative
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: if he's.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: Gonna be around the ball a lot more.
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: Yeah, I would think so, because I I don't think
- 1:12:30Speaker 6: you want Byered in too many man to man situations
- 1:12:33Speaker 6: at this point of his career. So if he ends
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: up over the tight end or something like that, I
- 1:12:38Speaker 6: don't love that matchup. So different ways to get away,
- 1:12:42Speaker 6: you know, around that. But Byered to me, at this
- 1:12:44Speaker 6: point of his career is a true center fielder, Like
- 1:12:47Speaker 6: he's not. He was kind of like Devin mccordy towards
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: the end, Like you're not going to put him in
- 1:12:51Speaker 6: a lot of you know, man to man foot races
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: things like that. You kind of want them just field
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: generally over the top of the defense.
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: Last year is such a big part of their defensive identity,
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: especially if they went along wards, just that those guys
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: were kind of interchangeable and they were They're blissed Hawkins
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: off the edge, then Woodson's blitzing off the edge like
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: they kind of you know, it was very fluid, which
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: I would think sometimes teams try to get to like,
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: well how great, like it's gonna be hard to get
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: a beat on. But I think we have somebody as
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: talented as Buyered on the back end that you're willing
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: to miss that or lose that.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: Staying in the secondary, John and Louisiana writes in there's
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: a debate going on right now and asks about how
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: would you rank these Patriots cornerbacks ty Law, Stefan Gilmour,
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: and Drell Reevs. My list is Gilmore Law than Revis.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: I think with Gilly winning Defensive Player of the Year,
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: that has them over both corners. Then ty Law because
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: how great he was in longer tenure than Revs. I'm
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: a little biased because Gilmore is my favorite corner of
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: all time, but wondering where you guys would rank them,
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: certainly not Gilmore number one.
- 1:13:53Speaker 6: I love Gilmore. Ty Law is the best corner I've
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: ever seen the Patriots have.
- 1:13:57Speaker 7: I'm younger than some in terms of patriot ty Law's
- 1:14:01Speaker 7: number one.
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I think ty Law's number one. I think Gilmore would.
- 1:14:04Speaker 15: Gilmore too, and there's three because of what the Yeah,
- 1:14:07Speaker 15: But in terms of like overall cornerback number one.
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: Yeah, maybe you take his Jet's career.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Yeah right, if you're taking full careers for all three
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: of them. It's Revis law Gilmore.
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: That's your impression of his season as because I mean
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: he's only here one season, Revis and it was kind
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: of a slow start, a little bitter.
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: It was the end of his career.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: Good. He had a better start to his career than
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: Gilmore did.
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: He was exactly what the team needed and it showed
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: like the defense wasn't a wary all season.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: You know who killed him in Week one, first game
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: as a Patriot twenty fourteen, Former Patriot. I don't know,
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: DeVante Parker, Okay, oh I am yeah.
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: He also killed Gilmore.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: So I just I see Gilmore check that might that
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: might be a poulism. You can get those mixed up.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: That might that might be a paulism. I might be
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: thinking of Gilmore.
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: Yeah, Gilmore twenty nineteen.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: But that front, front row seat to Gilmore. Disregard everything
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: I on the nineteen season other than I mean he
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: was amazing. I mean I remember that Cowboys game where
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: he was like you couldn't get away. I thought he
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: got beat for a touchdown at Miami in his first
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: game Revs. And I was thinking, he kind of looks.
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: Like you ate that good, and then then he was there.
- 1:15:14Speaker 6: They're playing so much zone, and the Browner and Revis
- 1:15:18Speaker 6: and all these like they're playing zone coverage and Revs
- 1:15:22Speaker 6: is like, what are we doing? And and Gilmore is
- 1:15:25Speaker 6: the same kind of thing. They started off playing a
- 1:15:27Speaker 6: lot of zone and then they sort of figured it out.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: But I I.
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: I think Tyler is the best out of that Patriot
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: out of that.
- 1:15:34Speaker 7: Group, no doubt.
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: Yeah, physicality, I mean interceptions and clutch performance.
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: Right like Alpha two, like just that shut down, Like
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: I even.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: Remember him in the late nineties before. I just looking
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: at that guy and being like that is an NFL
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: cornerback right there, and.
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: He's just looking at it. His pick six in the
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: Super Bowl is yeah, iconic.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: Jeffrey in Canada, I says, Fred, you were the only
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: one on this show who gets to talk about the
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Red Sox between now and Octoba.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Absolutely believe. He does believe, and he's proud.
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: Evan, this is Evan, Alex and Paul. You all waived
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: your rights to say anything. Evan said it was not
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: worth watching. Alex said, it's just a museum ballpark and
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: she's boycotting, and Paul said he did not buy their
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: recent success. Deuce, I know you're a one sport guy,
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: and you've probably been focusing on our defensive line depth
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: while eating your last lobster roll of twenty twenty six,
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: because eating one after the start of training camp would
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: be sacrilegious. Lady and gentlemen, start your engines the twenty
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: twenty six seasons upon us. Here are five semi bold predictions.
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: Patriots go eleven and six and win the AFC East's old.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not that interesting to me.
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: Though Chiefs missed the playoffs. Again, I could see that happening,
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: so that doesn't that's not bold either.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: I don't see that happening. Is if all these reports
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: are accurate about Mahomes, I don't see that happen.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: The forty nine Ers win the NFC West.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: That's a little bold.
- 1:17:07Speaker 7: That's a little bold, especially with the Rams.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: Three teams are really good.
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: I know, yeah, I still any one of them. They're
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: the clear third team though.
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: Yeah, the Dolphins will be picking first overall, not at all,
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: one of the worst rosters in the league. And here's
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: one that Paul will get on board with Caleb Williams
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: is the league MVP.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: That's bold, that's hold because he's not he's not consistent
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: enough to put up the numbers that you have to
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: because these guys don't crazy, So these guys don't watch
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: the games. They just look at the stats and he'll
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: have like his completion percentage won't be good enough to
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: win it. He could play good enough, but the completion
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: percentage I can't see being like that gaudy seventy percent that. No,
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: he did.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: But if he's got a bunch of yards running and
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: they're winning, right, he'd be in the mix.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: I feel like they'd be like with him there. He
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: wasn't in the mix last year. He did all those things,
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: but his stats are just kind of pedestrian. Because that's
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: complete enough, right? Can we go back by the ways?
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: Mike Wallace?
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: Mike Wallace? Can we go back to the Red Sox
- 1:18:14Speaker 4: thing real quick?
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: Oh? You can't.
- 1:18:16Speaker 6: So I just want to say, you gotta do you
- 1:18:20Speaker 6: gotta separate these two things like this. To me, the
- 1:18:26Speaker 6: movie that comes to mind when I think about these
- 1:18:28Speaker 6: current Red Sox is Major League right. They're doing this
- 1:18:31Speaker 6: in spite of ownership and upper management. They're not doing
- 1:18:35Speaker 6: this because the team is pointed in the right direction
- 1:18:38Speaker 6: and they like are getting the resources they need or
- 1:18:41Speaker 6: they're doing good things. No, they're they're this is unbelievable
- 1:18:44Speaker 6: what they're doing.
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: So you don't you think obviously you think that they're
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: playing way above their potential their abilities.
- 1:18:50Speaker 6: Yeah, but I'm just yeah, but I'm also just saying
- 1:18:53Speaker 6: that they have my My frustrations with the Red Sox
- 1:18:58Speaker 6: everybody else is nothing to do with the players on
- 1:19:01Speaker 6: the field. My frustration with the Red Sox has to
- 1:19:04Speaker 6: do with the dude that sits in the owner's box.
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: So that's why I don't like. I don't want to
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: give him my money until he starts taking it zero.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: It's funny. I kind of agree with Evan, And you know,
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: I made the comment like a month ago, like I
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: just wish he would sell the team if he's not
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: really interested in trying to win. And now they're on
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: a winning streak and there's one guy on Twitter that
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: he keeps tweeting me sell the team. I feel exactly
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: the same way too, Like I want them to win
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: every single game. I think, I think this is unbelievable.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: I was riveted to the game last night now, partly
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: because my son went and we were teasing them, like
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: you're not going to be allowed to go anymore if
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: you break the streak. But we were watching it in
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: like these games right now, the last three or four games,
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: it's like electric in there. It's back to normal Fenway Park.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: It's not the other team's fans creating all the environment.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: It's back to the Red Sox excitement. But this is
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: not a sustainable product. What's on the field right now
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: is a bunch of four players playing out of their minds.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: They're catching every break imaginable. The other team made four
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: errors last night. The last out was an absolute missile
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: right at the shortstop to end the game. Like if
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: that's a foot up left right? Like what? Like, you know,
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: you're talking about a whole different thing. That's what happens
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: in baseball from time to time. You catch fire, you
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: catch the breaks. It just happened to the Marlins, a
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: very average team that just went twenty one and six
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: in June. They have the same exact record as the
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: Red Sox. They're not very good either. Yeah, like it happens,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: But you know what, I don't care it's fun and
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: I watched the weekend games. The Saturday game, the Abray
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: home run was electric.
- 1:20:43Speaker 6: But I don't want to I don't want to get
- 1:20:45Speaker 6: it twisted because the emailer made it sound like we
- 1:20:47Speaker 6: can't say anything.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: It's like.
- 1:20:50Speaker 6: My issues with the Red Sox are not on the
- 1:20:52Speaker 6: field level. My issues with the Red Sox are above that,
- 1:20:56Speaker 6: which is why I won't renew our tickets.
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: I've flight out.
- 1:21:00Speaker 6: Won't until you start actually putting and investing into the team.
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: Why should I invest in you? That's how I feel,
- 1:21:06Speaker 6: And you know what my biggest fear is.
- 1:21:07Speaker 7: For So the Roman Holiday contract wasn't investing in the team.
- 1:21:12Speaker 4: Giving a guy a contract way too early before.
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: It's a small contract, like, what do you mean, Well,
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: for guy that age, that's a lot of But that's
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: what they're trying to do. Yeah, they did because they
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: don't want to have a Mookie Betts.
- 1:21:25Speaker 6: They did it with Roman, they did it with Saydan Raphaela,
- 1:21:27Speaker 6: they did it with all these guys. Mayo, if you're
- 1:21:29Speaker 6: willing to sign early, they're more than willing to Christian Campbell,
- 1:21:33Speaker 6: if they actually like invested in real resources into the team.
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: They have a decent team.
- 1:21:39Speaker 6: They could make it really good and be a World
- 1:21:40Speaker 6: Series contender if they actually put it.
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: In and they're doing it without Croquet. He's he's been.
- 1:21:45Speaker 7: Hurt, and you know what.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: You know what My biggest fear is Trevor's story. My
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: biggest fear right now is that they think they're right.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: They just you know, they just won whatever twenty twenty
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: eight or whatever, and they think, see, the first three
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: months were a fluke, the last three weeks or really
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: what it is, this is what we thought all along,
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: and they're gonna continue to try to win like this.
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: And I'm just telling you, at some point the talent
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: difference between the teams that they're playing is gonna shine through.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: They know pitching, the pitching has been excellent, Fred excellent.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: Do you think that Sonny Gray's this good?
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:22:29Speaker 7: He's been good this year all I know.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: But it's not sustainable, is what I'm saying. And my
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: fear is they think that they're right and they've split
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: the add on. We don't have to spend money like
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: all those dumb teams that have good players. We don't
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: have to do that. Fourteen in a row.
- 1:22:46Speaker 6: The last couple of nights when they win and they
- 1:22:48Speaker 6: show those guys in the in the boxes and stuff
- 1:22:51Speaker 6: like that, and I'm like, Paul's right, they're gonna be.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: Like, see, we knew you could see that shot they
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: had a preslo when the game ended last night, you
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: could see.
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: It right again. Yeah, like he's about to be he's
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: about to be tarps off.
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: And by the way, let me just say this in defense.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: I don't let whatever all that's going on take away
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: my enjoyment of what's going on in the field.
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: But we're separating the two. That's what I'm trying to
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: tell you.
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: You don't watch I did. You're boycotting the team. So
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: I I did watch.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: I've watched this weekend all the fun young man.
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: I mean I I've watched like every game last Yeah.
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: I don't know why we keep doing that.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't.
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: I think what I'm doing is totally valid. Like they they.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: Do.
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: You know how much it costs to go to a game, Okay,
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: but like just to.
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: Walk into the penalize the guys trying working their asses off.
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: On how many times I said I'm separating those.
- 1:23:49Speaker 7: Right, but he's not watching them.
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: I literally watched last night.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: What do you mean? But but I would say that
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: I have watched and you know that I but you
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: know I wasn't.
- 1:23:58Speaker 4: Sorry, but I'm not gonna watch when they're thirty.
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: I've watched the Tampa Bay series coming out of the
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: break was was a lot of fun.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: You can't resist the good bouncing ball on TV. You
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: can't resist I don't care what the sport is, see
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: who's playing.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: I can tell you I could resist watching World Cup
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: Final games that evidently weren't sleep inducing. It were good,
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: but it was good. I would say that the excitement
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: level of I didn't watch Sunday because I told you
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: I was out golfing, But I watched Saturday. I watched
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: the second game with the doubleheader on Friday, and the
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: game last night was absolutely riveting. It was a great
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: baseball for a regular season game. Now, obviously I wouldn't
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: have been glued to the if they hadn't won thirteen
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: in a row and it was just like, you know,
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: they won the last game after losing the previous two.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: I wouldn't have been watching as intently as I was.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: But I'm sorry. When you win fourteen in a row
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: like as Bob Costa says, in that clip from Moneyball,
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: like the randomness of baseball like that to me is fun.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: That's intriguing, that's like, how can you know? I get
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: caught up in it.
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: I went to see The Odyssey last night. It was
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: really good.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: You didn't watch the Red so.
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: So he's yelling at me, my goodness, stop it yelling
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: as you know.
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: It's a dark theater in your check.
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: Unbelievable.
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: What was your movie review?
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: Excellent?
- 1:25:19Speaker 7: Movie excellent, Yeah, really really good.
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: I want to go see it. I want to try
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: this for Stepher.
- 1:25:23Speaker 7: Nolan is a fricking genius.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, really, I go see anything he did Planet thing,
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: that one I didn't quite get it. Tenant. Yeah, I
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: didn't get into that one. But which one? Tenant? Christopher Nolan?
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: I had never heard of it? Very confusing.
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: But I want to try this new movie theater here,
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: but they don't they have good deals on tickets like
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: eight dollar matinees.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I heard. It's another uh in the growing
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: genre of its nonlinear jumps around a little bit.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: Yeah, just going you go back and forth in time.
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: I like the way he presented it. I really do
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: want to see I was the Cyclops. I heard the cyclops.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Pretty cool. Yeah, I don't want to.
- 1:25:59Speaker 7: I don't want to spoilers hunting.
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: Yeah, case people forget that Achilles is dead.
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: The story has been around for about two.
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: How many people have been like, where's Achilles? He's dead?
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: He died in the.
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: Actually in the actual poem the Odyssey, Uh, there's a
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: part where Odysseus goes to Hades and he meets up
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: with Achilles and as well as some other legends of
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: Greek Lord.
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: Go watch Troy with Brad Pitt. I was you know,
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: did is this a movie that you really should see
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: in the theater?
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: I would think so, Yeah, I mean actually it was
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: shot for Imax. I didn't see it an Imax, but yeah,
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: if you can see it, and I know.
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: Incredibly well, yeah, like three theaters in Massachusetts.
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: It's three hours too, so you know, tack a lunch
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: the days. But I I enjoyed it.
- 1:26:55Speaker 7: It was really good.
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: I've heard a lot of I haven't heard anybody have
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: really many bad things going to go see it? This
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: weekend was all sold out.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Everything all right, A five to five pasts five hundred.
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: Let's get to North Carolina. Eldred's on the phone, what's up?
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: Eldred, There we go.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: How are y'all doing? Doing great?
- 1:27:22Speaker 10: Okay, I'm doing pretty good too, But I got one
- 1:27:24Speaker 10: serious question.
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: Okay, anybody worry about Gonzallas holding out if they try
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: to give him, don't give him to the stitches A.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: Little bit mildly mildly a little bit, Yeah, worried about
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: him holding out camp, not not regular season games, but
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: it might link that.
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: Because he's not going to do that.
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: A little bit for me, Eldred and holding out regular
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: season and if he holds out like hold, if he
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: has a hold in in camp, I worry about him
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: not necessarily being ready to go at the start. And
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: that's when like hamstrings pulled and stuff like.
- 1:28:01Speaker 11: Yeah, and what's the deal with Akis? Is he uh
- 1:28:06Speaker 11: on the team?
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: And on the team we'll find out, I mean, this
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: is any any day now, you'll find out my prediction
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: for acuses he'll be here and they'll figure this out.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean healthy.
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: Well, I mean if we don't see squats, did you
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: see that?
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: Great?
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: I mean that's question one or two for Rabel probably
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: on Friday when.
- 1:28:26Speaker 8: Prescott, well, my prediction is thirteen and four and that's
- 1:28:32Speaker 8: a very u.
- 1:28:36Speaker 12: Thirteen in fo.
- 1:28:37Speaker 7: Okay thirteen and four.
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: I like it without training for DK, all right, thanks
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: Aldred DK.
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: But but we got a J. We don't need DK
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: all right, thanks Aldred.
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: Appreciate the call.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: Let's see. Kyle writes in from Pembroke joint practices. We've
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: got three of them this year. Are infamous for having fights.
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: We have joint practices with the Eagles, who haven't had
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: a good uh split with Brown. So I have to ask,
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: what do you think the odds are we get a
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: Rabel versus Siriani the want to be hard oh scrap
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: during one of the two joint practices doesn't want that smoke.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: I think you have a better chance of seeing a
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: Rabel Sirianni altercation than anything involving a J. Brown because
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: from what I've been told and Red, they love him
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: the Eagles. The Eagles love a J. Brown. Right now,
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: I'm not sure that Jalen Hurts and a J. Brown
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: are as close as they once were. But I didn't
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: heard a bad thing about a J. Brown from a
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: member of the Eagles. Really, have you No? I heard
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: all just glowing things.
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: What about Elliott Woolf versus Howie Rose?
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: We bring we bring Breslo in from over they like,
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: don't put pres on the same they press.
- 1:29:55Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: I didn't want to give Breslow as flowers though I
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: think he had a really good off season.
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: Anyway, continue I'm a little interested about Gonzales and just
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: you know, is there a certain point where the team
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: he wants too much and the team says, now, like,
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: And that's kind of a holdover from well, they're waiting
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: for Witherspoon right and Witherspoon's waiting for him where I
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: came a chicken right now? The latest thing I saw
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: was that. And I don't know how someone determined this,
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: but the line of thought is now that Witherspoon will
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: be the first one to sign. So I don't know,
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: like they're represented by the same firm, the same aiden
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: as Reggie Johnson. I think, I forget I forget a
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: c AA, I believe. But if you go by that
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: Jeremy Fowler rankings from all like all the personnel people,
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: you know, Gonzales was three, Witherspoon was four. Maybe they
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: use that as a well that's a I mean, that's
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: just it's a little subjective list, but it gives you
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: a little bit of an idea. So Witherspoon should go
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: first and then Gonzales should re up them. I don't
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: know if Witherspoon is.
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: That it's the same firm.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they have the same agent.
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: They do, so.
- 1:31:05Speaker 7: Make it complicates it?
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: I think? Because it does.
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: You can't say to Gonzales, listen, let him go whatever
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: he gets, we'll give you five percent more, right, you know.
- 1:31:14Speaker 7: But if it's the same agent and.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: Now and now he's saying, like, you know you should
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: go first, well no, make him go first. Yeah right,
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: you know I'm better who knows? But I think they
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: both have a very legitimate claim to that. Yeah, title obviously,
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: I mean being better there with one was three and
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: one was four different types of yeah right yeah.
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: But does the agent? Does it make it more complicated
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: for the agent too, because if he gets more for
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: one like by it than the other, right right, yeah.
- 1:31:44Speaker 6: Yeah, So I mean it's gonna I don't think we're
- 1:31:48Speaker 6: going to be like in different ballparks here, Like it's
- 1:31:52Speaker 6: if Gonzales gets thirty two, then maybe Wetherspoon gets thirty
- 1:31:55Speaker 6: two in a quarter, right, Like, It's not like they're
- 1:31:57Speaker 6: going to be forty like I shouldn't.
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: Blow it out of the water more, but you never know. Yeah,
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: I've heard some different things.
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: Mike and Bocoverton about the cornerbacks for the Patriots. He says,
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: Patriots all time number one cornerback is Mike Haynes and
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: number two isn't even close. Haines was on the NFL
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: all time Top one hundred team, but also because of
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: his returning skills.
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: Right, no, no, but Haines was on the all time
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: NFL team because of his work with the Raiders.
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: Well true, Yeah, I.
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: Didn't want to bring that up.
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: Also, just tuned in. Not sure if you covered it.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: Try to watch on the Patriots app and PU was
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: not available. Is it available on the Patriots dot com website?
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: I hope so. Yeah, and you let's check that out.
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: Check it out. Mike Hane's tremendous player. By the way, Yeah,
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: remember my tremendous corner, big corner. You don't remember Mike
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: Haynes way before my time?
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: Stop it a little over under from Mike. Yeah, it's
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: we got it going on the app.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: So try to tap that app into your cat.
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: Check your starting control control F five.
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: I got the blue screen of death.
- 1:33:07Speaker 4: Did you catch your cash.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: What about your your cash?
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: Uh little unorthodox preseason over under a regular season games
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: where the Patriots will be favored nine and a hay.
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: Well, we can find this out already.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: Yeah right, that's out there.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: Regular season games nine and a half. I'm gonna take
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: the over. I'll take the over. I'll take ten.
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: Although Pro Bowl selections are usually a popularity contest, amount
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: of Patriots who make the Pro Bowl three and a hay.
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: I'm gonna go over on that because I think they
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: went to the Super Bowl last year, and usually your
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: a year behind on some of the players, so you'll
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: start to get.
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: Some of that resision.
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: I think three is easy, right, you got maybe Gonzales,
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: Milton Williams, and Drake May.
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: I don't think that's easy.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: I don't think it's easy either, at the risk of
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: going off, Fred, are we talking actual Pro bowlers or
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: guys that say they went to.
- 1:33:59Speaker 4: All because, like you said, it popular second team. I
- 1:34:02Speaker 4: actually think that it's the initial roster.
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: Yeah right, that that's what CENTI. That's what the censorship
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: based on, right, Yeah.
- 1:34:10Speaker 4: Yeah, that that initial roster is actually still semi legit.
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to take the under. Then, for the
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: same reason.
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: Evan said, yeah, okay, total points scored against the Jets
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: this year, total points scored two games, fifty four and
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: a hay over over over over.
- 1:34:26Speaker 4: Okay, I think they might score fifty four.
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: You never know what those AFC East games, you never
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: know in the division.
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: Some additions on defense. One of those games is really
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: late in the season, right, Yeah, that I missed the
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: second last one, so it could be a weather game.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: That's a good number. Fifty four and a half's a
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: good number. I'll take the old. Just to be consistent
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: with everybody else, I'm gonna take the under. I'm gonna
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: take the under.
- 1:34:47Speaker 16: The Jets.
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: Uh home field goals made over fifty five yards by
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: borogalas to and a hay under.
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: Drake don't really fields this year. Offense is unstoppable. I don't.
- 1:35:00Speaker 4: I don't think is like a long range.
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: He had he had one last year? Though, didn't He
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: didn't he have like a fifty seven yard year? Did
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: I just invent that he might have? He went up?
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: I did say that he doesn't have range.
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: You know he's not, But like three of them, he's
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: not a lot.
- 1:35:17Speaker 4: Aubrey is kicking sixty plus yard field.
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: See, I'm going with the Mike Mike do Soau theory.
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: The offense will not be stopped. We don't need to
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: be kicking sixty year field goals. That's what happens in down.
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: T Throws for over fifty yards two and.
- 1:35:29Speaker 3: A hey, yeah he had a sixty three yard and
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: against Denver sixty three that's what it said.
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: No, no, that was a sorry, it was a long. Yeah,
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: he missed my sorry.
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: Touchdowns for over fifty yards plus two and a hay
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: over over fifty yards yeah, under over over.
- 1:35:48Speaker 4: That's deep streak.
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: May we're talking about deep Come on, come on, now,
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: come on now, Paul, you know I got an emmy
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: pretty good.
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: I didn't say he didn't have an anim Has that been?
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: What are you in?
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: Workshopping a little bit?
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: So he didn't have any.
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: Let's see, back to the phone. We got Chucky in Wisconsin.
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: What's up, Chucky gees in Wisconsin?
- 1:36:16Speaker 16: Yeah, yeah, hey guys, thanks for taking my call and
- 1:36:18Speaker 16: welcome back.
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: Thanks to the guy who's been away.
- 1:36:21Speaker 16: Hey, I got one that's been festering for a few
- 1:36:24Speaker 16: months now, and I thought the off season here as
- 1:36:26Speaker 16: we're wrapping up, might be a good time to get it,
- 1:36:28Speaker 16: Paul A little.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: Bit good so good luck both shows, So.
- 1:36:34Speaker 16: Evan's in on this too. Both shows we talked about
- 1:36:36Speaker 16: drag May and the playoff performances, and I guess I'm
- 1:36:41Speaker 16: sort of an analytics guy at heart. But ultimately, if
- 1:36:45Speaker 16: you look at the weather in the Houston game, why
- 1:36:49Speaker 16: are people we shouldn't put the ball on the ground.
- 1:36:52Speaker 16: Why are people griping about three really beautiful touchdown passes
- 1:36:57Speaker 16: and saying that he didn't perform in the playoffs. So
- 1:37:00Speaker 16: thanks for taking the call, and I'll take it off
- 1:37:02Speaker 16: the air.
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: Okay, all right, I thought we were going to have
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: a talk like those we can't hit and run just
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: a drive by? Yeah, I mean he maybe the best
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: throw that I saw and making the all the playoffs
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: was the throw to Hunter Henry for a touchdown against
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: the Chargers. Like I can pick out plays that were
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: really good throws, but when you complete fifty percent of
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: your passes like the like, the body of your work
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: just wasn't that good. When you fumbled the ball how
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: many times four in the Houston games? And does that
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: not count?
- 1:37:37Speaker 4: Analytically? He did not play well in the playoffs.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: Analytically eyeball test. Yeah, like he did enough to win
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: the games and he deserves credit for that. And yes,
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: he played against good defenses, and yes he played in
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: bad weather, but he didn't play that well.
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: That's the question, you know.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: So for Chuck e.
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: Cheese, I'm the throw it back at you, but you
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: know you decided to leave. What if the Patriots defense
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: hadn't been playing so well?
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: Well, I would also say, like, so he made a
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: great throw, like I said to Hunter Henry, and he
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: made a great throw like to Dig, Like we're just
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: counting all the touchdowns of great throws, Like does Digs
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: not get any credit for that ridiculous catch in the
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: end zone in Houston? That was like right in the
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: middle of like three guys. Yes, the throw was perfect,
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: but how many guys catch that? And I'm sorry, the
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: booty catch is ridiculous. That was amazing better catch? Yeah, right, right,
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: So you made the same throw and that ball's incomplete
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: and no one's saying, oh geez, you know that ball's
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: got to get caught. But that's just the fine line.
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: Like the Patriots had a special year last year and
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: those things all went for them, and Drake May was
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: part of that and the receivers were part of that,
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: like they deserve to win those games because they made
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: those plays. But it wasn't just Drake May making those
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: plays in the playoffs. Now, a lot of times during
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: the regular season it was Drake May, but in the
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: playoffs it was, as Fred said, the defense dominating all
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: those turnovers. And then Marcus Jones completely changed the I mean,
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: I know that he didn't have a lot to he
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: caught a punt. Yeah, it was it Milton Williams that
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: killed Stroud on that play that he threw up the
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: punch for grabs. Yeah, that completely changed that games. Yeah,
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: I mean he had his moments.
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: You know, you don't win three playoff games without your
- 1:39:25Speaker 3: quarterback having some moments, but just the sum total of it,
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: you know, no, we didn't have many.
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: We talked about like the Denver game. You know, the
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: one of the biggest plays was that twenty eight yards
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: scramble that he had or you know, the flee flicker play.
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: But you can't tell me that Drake May had a
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: good offensive game in Denver.
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, the weather is going to be the weather, right.
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: It's the weather.
- 1:39:49Speaker 7: Weather affected that game, and it affected the Houston game.
- 1:39:52Speaker 6: Right, But my point is is maybe the defenses won't
- 1:39:55Speaker 6: be as good because I was a gauntlet. Let's face it, Like,
- 1:39:57Speaker 6: you know, like Houston, Seattle, Denver was three of the
- 1:40:00Speaker 6: best defense in the league all year long. But January
- 1:40:03Speaker 6: football and Foxborough is going to be bad weather, Like
- 1:40:06Speaker 6: when they get into the playoffs every single year they're not.
- 1:40:09Speaker 6: It's not going to be seventy in sunny, It's going
- 1:40:11Speaker 6: to be bad weather.
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: How did the defense play and those those three playoff games, right,
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: the Patriots defense. We don't say, well, there was bad
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: weather for the other team right now. No, we say
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: the Patriots defense played great because they did the red
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: zone defense woke up for the first time all year.
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: But how about the stunts and the pressure that we
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: didn't see all year?
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: They did?
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: They don't have that amount of pressure.
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: We might have ruined c J.
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: Stroud.
- 1:40:35Speaker 6: I mean either right, Herbert took a beating that now, absolutely,
- 1:40:43Speaker 6: and they already had one hand.
- 1:40:44Speaker 4: He was already.
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: But like, we don't say, like, no, the weather was
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: bad so c J. Stroud was was turnover prone.
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: No, we say the Patriots defense killed Yeah, that was
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: the Milwilliams When I was that popped into my head
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: when you said.
- 1:40:55Speaker 2: That was on was on Herbert, Yeah, David and Florida.
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: I work retail, and so once I'm completely caught up
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: on the podcast, I often go back a few years
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: to listen to old shows from when they do that.
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: I don't don't judge me, Evan, some of us have
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: to work.
- 1:41:13Speaker 4: I'm not judging you. I'm just judging you. Why do
- 1:41:18Speaker 4: you like there's got to be something better that you
- 1:41:20Speaker 4: can do?
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: I could not help but notice the first show after
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: drafting Cole Strange, the best compliment the panel could give
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: about Strange was Fred saying, listen, what I hear is
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: that he's a really nice guy. And that made me
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: laugh out loud.
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: This was before Evan, right, don't play it.
- 1:41:42Speaker 4: I don't know what to say. The Patriots have drafted
- 1:41:47Speaker 4: offensive Strange from Chattanooga. We can stop it there.
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: Like there's a question like, really along the same line,
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: do you guys ever go back and watch full games
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: during the odd days of the off season, not just
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: for film breakdown? If so, what games are go tos?
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: I personally love rewatching primetime games like the Giants Monday
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: night football game, great show.
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: I mean I don't watch. I don't games I do.
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: I do will flip on some highlights from time to
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: time when I feel like, wait, what happened in that game?
- 1:42:17Speaker 3: Because I find I don't know if it's just doing
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: this job or maybe it's just getting old. Like Paul
- 1:42:21Speaker 3: we talk about, I have trouble like what exactly happened
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: in that game? You know, like they all kind of
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: start to blend together. So sometimes but the super Bowl,
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: I haven't watched really. I mean I've looked at parts
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: of it, but I haven't watched.
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: I haven't. I haven't watched the super Bowl either. The
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: only thing I would say sometimes NFL network will just
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: replay random right and whether the Patriots or not. I
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: would never sit there and watch three hours of a replay,
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: but like I would maybe clicking on in highlight, Oh
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: you watch this drive? No, not unless there's something very specific.
- 1:42:51Speaker 7: It's not at midnight.
- 1:42:53Speaker 4: No, But like I've watches them the first time and
- 1:42:55Speaker 4: then and then he watches it again.
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not a big case he missed any I'm
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: not a big rewatch guy. And that might be because
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: of that weird thing that I have with the recall,
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: Like I kind of remember the sequence? Yeah, now again,
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: ask me what happened like two hours ago? I can't
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: tell you.
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: Uh, Sam writes in I haven't seen it yet, but
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: love it of Fred loved the show. Oh that he's
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: talking about he's talking about Live at the Toby House.
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: Oh okay, I thought he was talking about Fortunately I hope.
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: So anyway, go subscribe. What do you guys think the
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: headlines will be after the first week of training camp?
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: What will Felger be grilling Greg Bagard on Will Campbell?
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: How's will Campbell look through the first three practices in shorts?
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:43:46Speaker 4: Is Caleb Blom who already pushed it to do it?
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: Go ahead?
- 1:43:49Speaker 4: Now do you do?
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: Fel I'll do Badard?
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: Now you when you drafted him that this was the
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: player you were getting.
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: Headline Drake may guaranteed not to regress.
- 1:43:59Speaker 7: That'll be the head I I think.
- 1:44:02Speaker 3: There's a strong chance it's where's Gonzales? How are they
- 1:44:04Speaker 3: going to figure this out?
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: The number one thing is Gonzales. If you're tell me
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: that he has not had a contract and he's participating
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: fully in camp, then maybe it'll go away. But if
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: he's doing anything resembling what he did in the spring
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: without a contract. That's the number one thing. And then
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: the second thing is AJ Brown. How's A Brown Brown? Yeah,
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: I mean that's I think to football.
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: I mean i'd put Akis in kind of the Gonzales
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: bucket of the two outstanding personnel issues.
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: But yeah, I think A J.
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: Brown will certainly be a big focus as we get
- 1:44:34Speaker 3: into it. You know, how's Drake looking?
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: Your two and you know, are of these young guys improving?
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: You know that kind of stuff.
- 1:44:41Speaker 2: One of the headlines will read this book AJ Brown
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: sparkles in camp.
- 1:44:46Speaker 4: I mean, are we thinking AJ Brown is going to
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: do anything else besides AJ Brown?
- 1:44:52Speaker 7: But they'll they'll that'll be you know, obviously it a
- 1:44:54Speaker 7: headline when he does.
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: Okay, I just feel like, you know, you don't feel
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: like we're going to overreact to like AJ Brown? Did
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: you see that? Like I felt like I wrote like
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: one hundred words on his catching mini camp to lead
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: my feature for the book over it totally overreacted Maybe in.
- 1:45:11Speaker 6: That sense I thought you meant more like is like
- 1:45:13Speaker 6: working with AJ Brown? Because you're saying fulger and Maz Like,
- 1:45:16Speaker 6: to me, that's the negative slant of.
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: No, Like, well, I don't take it that way. I
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: think that they're gonna be Look, what are the storylines, like,
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: what are the big storylines?
- 1:45:25Speaker 4: I like punching bags.
- 1:45:27Speaker 6: So besides, I agree with the Gonzales stuff and the
- 1:45:30Speaker 6: act and stuff like Will Campbell is, Will Campbell's gonna
- 1:45:33Speaker 6: be one of them a lightning rod, right, you know,
- 1:45:35Speaker 6: he's gonna ask Baard how Will Campbell looks? But Dodd's
- 1:45:38Speaker 6: gonna say something like I had him.
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: He had seven pluses.
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: I had I had him for two plus plays in
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: the one on ones he was one one and one,
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: but the loss went against Draymond Jones, So that's trouble again,
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: that's good.
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: I would say along those lines, though, if there was
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: a storyline of Achus is practicing or Elijah Ponder one
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: of the young edge guys are kind of popping a
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: little bit, like you know, and then that would be
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: that maybe the opposite of the Will Campbell, like Elijah
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: Ponder's been given Will Campbell a hard time. Is that
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: a good sign for Elijah Ponder? Is that a buy
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: a bad sign for Will Campbell?
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: If you want to go completely negative, if that's the
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: way you're looking at it with Felger, Like what's it
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: going to be railing against my guess is the media
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: because my shock, my my feel will be that we
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: will all be writing a lot of really good stuff
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: because like AJ Brown's gonna look good and Drake may
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: is gonna look comfortable in year two and Felger is
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: going to read all these stories. Oh, this is like
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: the best team in football. You know, there's got to
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: be something that's an issue down there. Is anybody see
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: anything that you know? Because because every diary like we're dying,
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: the punching bag will be the media because which is
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: not feeding them in a negative.
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: Very big The poor Celtics beat just gets right for
- 1:46:58Speaker 4: the Coles.
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: He has one guy, Gary Washburn is the only guy
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: that he'll even take with any monica of legitimacy some.
- 1:47:07Speaker 4: Of the things he says.
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: I agree with Brandon's and Syracuse what's up Brandon Brandon?
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: Syracuse Orange Men, No nothing, You're gone? Okay, Uh We'll
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: go out to the west Johns and Wyoming, what's up? John?
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: Hey? Can you guys hear me?
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: Sure?
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: Ken a long time listener, first time caller. I love
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: your guys the show.
- 1:47:35Speaker 8: I love that you guys do I hope Evan.
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: And Paul had a good vacation. Thanks.
- 1:47:40Speaker 7: Thanks.
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: One question one of the Patriots rival Jersey's gonna be
- 1:47:45Speaker 3: back in stock take it off there?
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: Okay, thanks? Do we have the dates for the rivalry?
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: I think they were gonna wear him twice.
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: Maybe he wants to know that.
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: I don't know that back in the stop is wand
- 1:47:55Speaker 3: I I mean I was my understanding that it was
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: in the spring sometime, but I I've not seen them yet.
- 1:48:00Speaker 3: Maybe it's incomplicated by the World Cup and the whole
- 1:48:03Speaker 3: Pro Shop had to move. I don't know if that
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: had something to do with it, but they are moving
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: back into the Pro Shop, so I mean I would hope.
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: I don't know anything that they be back for training camp.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: That seems like, well, I.
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: Find out and we'll get the answer. For Thursday's shows'll
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: be done in spring before the World Rivalry and Jerseys
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: back and stocked. Yeah, the popular item I had a
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: lot of I wonder if they'll have new a new
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: line of I mean.
- 1:48:23Speaker 3: The colors will get and why you can because those
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: things were like hotcakes.
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: That was a real success, those rivalries, and.
- 1:48:29Speaker 6: It like seemed like it grew on people like I
- 1:48:32Speaker 6: feel like the original release, everybody was like, what the
- 1:48:34Speaker 6: heck is that?
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: And then like as people looked at it more.
- 1:48:37Speaker 2: But you know, I had a sneak peek at that
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: long before they got from the get go. I said,
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: these are cool, like the white helmet with the current
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: logo and the color was it was just I did
- 1:48:48Speaker 2: like the color. They really it's really hard to go
- 1:48:51Speaker 2: completely different from your scheme and be successful. I think
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: that hit a home run.
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: I too, I mean that was I thought. I mean
- 1:48:58Speaker 3: it'd be interesting to see. I guess eight more teams
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: will do them this year, so you'll get another sense
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: of right, you know how many teams.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: That's a good point. I liked them all last year,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: and sooner or later someone's going to come with something
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: you're like, oh my god, what would they think? That's awful?
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: The Jets. The Jets have like an all white thing. Yeah,
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: but it's I thought they I thought they maybe it
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: has nothing to do with the rivalry thing, but I
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: saw something white with the old white.
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: Helmet kind of waving the white flat probably, but I did.
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: Think it looked. It looked good. But like the Rams
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: one last year was pretty good.
- 1:49:30Speaker 6: I thought, I like the they wore one was kind
- 1:49:35Speaker 6: of different.
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't really see one that I was like, Oh, usually,
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: let's face it.
- 1:49:40Speaker 6: Usually, I mean it's the swag also with the Patriots
- 1:49:44Speaker 6: rivalry stuff, it is really cool, like the jackets and
- 1:49:47Speaker 6: the hoodies and like.
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: I think that I really like the Patriots stuff that
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: that they they put out. I hope there is I
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: agree with the caller. I hope that they produced more
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: of that.
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: It's in North Carolina.
- 1:49:58Speaker 10: Hey, ed, Hey, hey, gentlemen, Oh, I didn't know I
- 1:50:04Speaker 10: was through there.
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: Use that.
- 1:50:08Speaker 10: I've been listening since you drafted my fellow Tar Hill alum,
- 1:50:11Speaker 10: Drake May of you, guys, I had an interesting kind
- 1:50:14Speaker 10: of question for you, and it relates to the kickoff
- 1:50:17Speaker 10: changes we've seen in the last couple of years. Knowing
- 1:50:20Speaker 10: these kickoff changes want to kind of encourage kickoff returns.
- 1:50:25Speaker 10: When are we going to see a team take a
- 1:50:27Speaker 10: non kicker on special teams and have them kick off.
- 1:50:30Speaker 10: It leaves you someone on the back end that can
- 1:50:33Speaker 10: make the play if the returner breaks through. And quite frankly, gentlemen,
- 1:50:37Speaker 10: it's not that hard to kick the ball fifty or
- 1:50:39Speaker 10: sixty yards.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: What do you think, well, Kansas City did it a
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: little bit, but I would think that it is kind
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: of a specialized skill to kick the ball where you want.
- 1:50:51Speaker 4: Especially the landing zone.
- 1:50:54Speaker 6: I don't think that we've seen it be enough of
- 1:50:58Speaker 6: an explosive play to need to put another like athlete
- 1:51:03Speaker 6: on the field. If it was, like if there was
- 1:51:05Speaker 6: like returns happening every single week and it was kind
- 1:51:08Speaker 6: of what we're seeing more of is like can you
- 1:51:10Speaker 6: get the thirty yard line is like sort of the
- 1:51:13Speaker 6: line of demarcation that most coaches are going for. So
- 1:51:16Speaker 6: I don't know if there's the need.
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: And the penalty correct refresh my memory, the penalty for
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: not hitting it in the landing area is to the
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: forty right, yeah, So I don't know if that's worth
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: the risk.
- 1:51:29Speaker 6: Yeah, they changed the there's one loophole that they I
- 1:51:33Speaker 6: think they shored up this offseason where like when the
- 1:51:36Speaker 6: kickoff gets moved up, yeah because of a penalty, Like
- 1:51:40Speaker 6: if you it's makes more sense to like kick it
- 1:51:43Speaker 6: outside the landing zone, and they fix that, but like
- 1:51:46Speaker 6: the kick.
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: It out of bounds yeah yeah, yeah.
- 1:51:49Speaker 6: I don't know if they really there's definitely been more returns, yep.
- 1:51:56Speaker 6: I don't think there have been more longer returns.
- 1:51:59Speaker 7: Right usually get to around the third right, and so I.
- 1:52:02Speaker 4: Think that that's it's worked, and it hasn't. I guess
- 1:52:05Speaker 4: I'm trying to say, who's.
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: Going to be the Patriots kick returner this year?
- 1:52:08Speaker 6: Thanks that their third running back and uh maybe like
- 1:52:14Speaker 6: Kyle Williams or wherever they're.
- 1:52:15Speaker 4: Like take it.
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: We don't have a like a this is like Antonio
- 1:52:19Speaker 3: Gibson last year felt like he's going to become for Wednesday.
- 1:52:22Speaker 6: The third running back has been what whoever that was?
- 1:52:25Speaker 6: Deernest Johnson Terrell?
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: I mean, is that something tells me late later they
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: really they have to fill this kickoff returns?
- 1:52:32Speaker 2: I guess, like.
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: Are you okay with that?
- 1:52:35Speaker 6: Regie Gilliam, big impact blocker on kickoff return Ray Davis Buffalo, Yeah,
- 1:52:44Speaker 6: all pro for the last year last year, you know,
- 1:52:48Speaker 6: because Regie g William really good lead blocker. I think
- 1:52:51Speaker 6: to the caller's point about the kicker, the thing I'm
- 1:52:53Speaker 6: more interested in is like are we ever going to
- 1:52:56Speaker 6: get more creative with the returns themselves? Like how they're
- 1:52:59Speaker 6: block and how you know you put two guys back
- 1:53:02Speaker 6: there and maybe have you know, reverses and things like
- 1:53:04Speaker 6: that everybody's played it like super safe so far, Like
- 1:53:09Speaker 6: they really haven't done anything. They've done some stunting and
- 1:53:13Speaker 6: like looping with blockers, but nothing like too crazy like it.
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: No. I mean it's definitely added returns, so it's done
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: what they wanted it to take that part of it,
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: I guess, but I don't. I don't really like it.
- 1:53:26Speaker 4: I just feel like they still wed.
- 1:53:29Speaker 6: I just feel like there's a lot more meat on
- 1:53:31Speaker 6: that bone, and I think nobody, for whatever reason, teams
- 1:53:35Speaker 6: are afraid to risk it like that. They feel like
- 1:53:37Speaker 6: there might be a m i you know, lead to
- 1:53:39Speaker 6: a turnover or something.
- 1:53:40Speaker 3: I don't know Spring Lab this offseason, but there.
- 1:53:44Speaker 6: Just seems to be like something there that, like especially
- 1:53:46Speaker 6: if you need it, like late in the game and
- 1:53:48Speaker 6: like you need like a big momentum play or something
- 1:53:50Speaker 6: like that.
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: Averse drop a name.
- 1:53:52Speaker 2: I was having lunch with Ernie Adams and this was
- 1:53:56Speaker 2: when they originally came up with the new rule, and
- 1:53:59Speaker 2: I said to them, you know, I really think that
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: this thing could lend itself to some really unique blocking schemes.
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: And he was like he got like really excited for
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: a second and he's like yeah, and then but he
- 1:54:10Speaker 2: held back. You wouldn't tell me what he was thinking,
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: because I think he's just so conditioned to not give
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: out information. But his eyes lit up, like yeah, so,
- 1:54:19Speaker 2: I bet you if he was still in the game,
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: on the team that he was on, you might see
- 1:54:24Speaker 2: some stuff.
- 1:54:24Speaker 4: The Bills would do some things, and Gilliam was a
- 1:54:27Speaker 4: big part of it. So maybe it's a weapon part
- 1:54:29Speaker 4: of it.
- 1:54:30Speaker 3: Because I was I mean, I was kind of saying, like,
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: is it bad that they don't really? I mean, maybe
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: they do have a plan, but from the outside looking in,
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: it doesn't seem like it seems to a place where
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: let's just have a.
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: Guy in there. I think though, I mean, I think
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: Henderson should be an option now maybe if they feel
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: like he's too valuable to the offense, but I don't.
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: Isn't it kind of just a running play? Yeah?
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, but I'm just like, if I'm jam Miller,
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: I'm like, kid, you got a real opportunity here, Like,
- 1:54:54Speaker 3: you got a real opportunity to, you know, be the guy,
- 1:54:57Speaker 3: Like this is a role that.
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: Is completely Anderson's like explosiveness. To me, is Taylor made
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: for that? I Mean, Marcus Jones is every bit is
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: valued more so. Yeah, really, and he's an electric weapon
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: on party turns. I would hate to see them take
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: that away from it.
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: I think reverses and stuff like that, because unlike running play,
- 1:55:15Speaker 2: where you have the line of scrimmage bunched in, these
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: guys are spread out. So if if you can take
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: advantage of that and get guys go in the wrong direction,
- 1:55:23Speaker 2: you've got a little bit more time to get up
- 1:55:25Speaker 2: to full speed.
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: I don't know you're looking for creas but.
- 1:55:32Speaker 6: Last year, right, I don't know if they would do
- 1:55:34Speaker 6: it again, Like you know, Gibson and Terrell Jennings both
- 1:55:37Speaker 6: got hurt returning kickoffs, yep, and so putting Henderson back there, Yeah,
- 1:55:41Speaker 6: that's why they pulled back on that.
- 1:55:43Speaker 4: I mean, I think.
- 1:55:46Speaker 2: Matt is either in LA or Louisiana.
- 1:55:48Speaker 7: I don't know. It says Matt from LA.
- 1:55:51Speaker 2: I just wanted to know everyone on here always says
- 1:55:53Speaker 2: Paul shows as someone who's not from Boston area and
- 1:55:57Speaker 2: has only been listening for a few years, What are
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: Paul show? Is there any show that will have Paul
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: on and pay him money?
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: Is really they even have to pay him? Show?
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: The Morning Show? Any any radio show? Three of the
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: shows on sports TV show that will that will have Paul.
- 1:56:15Speaker 7: That's Paul's show.
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: Doing very well. That show is doing very well. Yeah,
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: you're welcome.

- 1:57:21Speaker 1: I was going to start my own couple away. I
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: got my own pop. It's going to be uh, it's
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: just about ticks.
- 1:57:26Speaker 3: It's called TikTok TikTok I was just talking about we're
- 1:57:29Speaker 3: talking about ticks.
- 1:57:30Speaker 4: Probably you know trademark probably well you know what you.
- 1:57:33Speaker 2: Know, like they have all the you know, they have
- 1:57:35Speaker 2: all those videos like people popping pimples. Oh god, yeah,
- 1:57:40Speaker 2: videos of people taking ticks off dogs.
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:57:43Speaker 3: I think it's like it's useful information refreshing, useful refreshing.
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: To see dogs being helped like that. People, Okay, the rise,
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: it's lines to refresh. Now.
- 1:57:54Speaker 3: I think there's a there's some kind vaccine I think
- 1:57:57Speaker 3: in the works though, which I think, yes, they're working
- 1:57:59Speaker 3: on that, So we'll talk about that.
- 1:58:01Speaker 4: On tick we took there's a big tick problem on
- 1:58:04Speaker 4: Martha's vind overrun.
- 1:58:09Speaker 6: So we were coming out of the I was taking
- 1:58:11Speaker 6: them out at night when we got back from dinner
- 1:58:13Speaker 6: and there was a skunk like and luckily I saw
- 1:58:16Speaker 6: it before we like went all the way out on
- 1:58:18Speaker 6: the lawn and uh, it was just sitting right in front.
- 1:58:21Speaker 6: But that's the one thing about the vineyard, the bugs,
- 1:58:24Speaker 6: the rodents like that, it's rampant.
- 1:58:27Speaker 4: But the tics. Every time we took them on a walk,
- 1:58:29Speaker 4: we had to check them for ticks when we got
- 1:58:31Speaker 4: got back.
- 1:58:32Speaker 7: In ticks, poison, ivy and mosquitos, let's go.
- 1:58:35Speaker 4: Why do we need them skunks this summer on the island.
- 1:58:40Speaker 2: I think we could do without it. The ecosystem would
- 1:58:43Speaker 2: be fine if we eliminate those three.
- 1:58:44Speaker 4: I don't think that's true, but I know it is.
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: I know it is a little late in the show.
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: But how does skunks get on the vineyard?
- 1:58:53Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:58:54Speaker 2: Hop on a ship maybe, yeah, garbage, garbage vessels, garbage
- 1:58:57Speaker 2: things like that.
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: We also saw it to see odins, But that's a skunk.
- 1:59:01Speaker 6: Every morning we'd wake up and there'd be a family
- 1:59:03Speaker 6: of turkeys out on the lawn.
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: They obviously could fly there.
- 1:59:10Speaker 2: Fly a little bit. They do fly.
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: They do fly. It couldn't they couldn't fly.
- 1:59:13Speaker 2: From the rare times that bears get on the cave,
- 1:59:19Speaker 2: they don't swim across the canal. They usually they're on
- 1:59:22Speaker 2: those garbage vessels and they get across.
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: They tell you.
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: When I was driving home on the Mass back, I
- 1:59:27Speaker 3: saw a dead bear on the medium. Oh well, that's
- 1:59:32Speaker 3: like west End Mass And I was like, oh my god,
