- 0:25think that I get on the internet and start hating
- 0:26people on social media That's not what I do.
- 0:28The first half was absolute absolutely Horrible,
- 0:32you know just inept offense inept defense special
- 0:37teams you name it I'm gonna turn into Oprah.
- 0:40Why were you so angry? He sucks this season this
- 0:45game whatever whatever is going on right and
- 0:47then in the very next pitch guess what they They
- 0:51double Homer. And he's like, told you that. Why
- 0:54are you always knocking down people? Listen,
- 0:55you got the highs and the lows. Yeah, so I knew
- 0:58that. You need the highs and the lows. So I do
- 1:01that, yeah. I'm trying to be the voice of reason
- 1:04here. I am what I am. What's up everybody welcome
- 1:19to another episode of fanatically speaking I'm
- 1:21Kent your co -host and promoter. I am log off
- 1:24the log off legend the hater of social media
- 1:26I'm the co -host and producer of the show Today
- 1:29we're going to the farm kind of we're gonna We're
- 1:34gonna talk about goats. Oh, yeah, let's talk
- 1:37about goats. Yeah, let's do that Okay, all kinds
- 1:40of sport goats. Yeah, not Billy goats No, Billy
- 1:45goats not goat boy You know what's funny, have
- 1:49you ever seen the pictures of the goats standing
- 1:53on the side of the mountain? I think so. No,
- 1:57that shit is crazy. Like a ledge, like two, three
- 2:00inches wide, and they're standing like sideways.
- 2:05You never seen that shit? I don't think so. It'll
- 2:08trip you out. Before this over, I'll have to
- 2:10send you a picture of that shit. It's crazy looking.
- 2:12of them standing on us. You said the highway?
- 2:15No, standing on the side of a mountain, sir.
- 2:18On the side of the mountain. I know it sounds
- 2:20ridiculous, but... It's crazy. I got you. Don't
- 2:23look it up. I'm gonna send it to you in the middle
- 2:26of this and blow your mind real quick. And it's
- 2:29from a guy who, you know, grew up with goats.
- 2:33Yeah. There were a couple of goats around me.
- 2:36We had goats. My girlfriend and friends had goats.
- 2:38But that's another conversation. Yeah. So let's
- 2:41get into The goat conversation the I Put this
- 2:48as the obligatory goat debate. It's Jordan versus
- 2:52LeBron Okay A Even though I know LeBron's only
- 2:59been in the league 20 something years. It's a
- 3:02it's a question as old as I Mean, I don't know
- 3:07It it's feel like it's been around forever. It
- 3:11feels like it has an answer to the question,
- 3:14but yet people still argue it about who is the
- 3:17actual, the NBA GOAT, I guess is probably the
- 3:20better way to put it. So I mean, we're not gonna
- 3:24bury the lead. I already know who you're gonna
- 3:26go with in the GOAT debate. So I'll let you go
- 3:30ahead and lead off. I'll let you be Shohei. Okay,
- 3:33so Jordan is my guy as GOAT of the NBA, best
- 3:40player ever. maybe that comes from, again, growing
- 3:44up in the 90s, living the Michael Jordan era.
- 3:49We brought up, you know, sports villains and
- 3:51that was your sports villain, one of them, because
- 3:54he won, because he was the guy, he was on top.
- 3:58And yeah, so the 90s, man, I mean, it was a different,
- 4:03it was just a different time, but he controlled,
- 4:05I mean, he dominated. One, he dominated on the
- 4:08court. He changed the game. He changed the eyeballs
- 4:12that were on the game. Look at the scoring titles.
- 4:17Look at the defensive player of the years. Look
- 4:18at the finals runs. There was nobody like him.
- 4:22Skill level, you name it. I could keep on going.
- 4:27Never lost in the finals. There's so much about
- 4:31him. People argue that he played with Pippen
- 4:36and Rodman. And all these great players, well,
- 4:40I always say like, yeah, he played with Pippen.
- 4:43We can always guess if Pippen would have been
- 4:45the same player without Jordan. We know what
- 4:48Pippen was after Jordan. He wasn't the same player.
- 4:52Rodman was always on championship teams with
- 4:54Detroit and then in Chicago. Other times he was
- 4:58a little wacky with the San Antonio and other
- 5:01teams. But yeah, my pick's Jordan. Always with
- 5:06LeBron, just that's what I put into it. I know
- 5:11they say the myth of Jordan, he never lost a
- 5:13game, he never did anything, he never missed
- 5:15a shot. He did. His legend is so far out ahead
- 5:23of everyone else's. I understand. I don't want
- 5:28to cut you off, I want to let you finish. I just
- 5:30want to make sure I didn't cut you off. No, he
- 5:32didn't get me off. I mean, I don't really have
- 5:34much more to say except, you know He he started
- 5:37with a terrible team built it up and then once
- 5:41they started winning then they they never lost
- 5:44Never lost the championship. Yeah every year
- 5:46that he played the full season We know about
- 5:48he left for baseball after his father passed.
- 5:50He came back. They lost to the magic You know,
- 5:54he had to switch from 45 back to 23 and then
- 5:58then retired in the Wizards area, you know, it's
- 6:01all you know It is what it is. But with eyeballs
- 6:05watching the game, and we can talk about stats
- 6:08all day long, and I've got you, if you want to
- 6:11bring up LeBron's stats, just look at the years,
- 6:14do the math of Jordan, if he would have played
- 6:17the two years that he sat out or the years in
- 6:19between Bulls and Wizards, he would be right
- 6:23there in a lesser time than LeBron on the points.
- 6:27And even at the time he did play, he put up the
- 6:29points, put up the stats. And again, clutch.
- 6:33He had that mentality. And we've seen the documentary,
- 6:35right? I mean, he didn't care about anything
- 6:38else but basketball winning. And he's going to
- 6:40make sure his teammates did the same. So all
- 6:45that wrapped into one makes him the goat of the
- 6:50NBA. And again, you had to live it. You had to
- 6:52watch it. He wasn't perfect, but he damn sure
- 6:56was close. OK. I've some of that I heard before
- 7:03some of that I haven't so I'm just gonna poke
- 7:06some holes in that real quick and then I'll I'm
- 7:10gonna attempt to Classify LeBron as being a formidable
- 7:16opponent in this discussion one There's several
- 7:21other players in the NBA history who've got more
- 7:23rings than Jordan. So the ring debate is you
- 7:28know, where everybody just kind of wanted to
- 7:30put his six versus LeBron's four. Okay. Easy
- 7:33math. We get it. But there were, I think, I think
- 7:38the reason why Jordan kind of gets the overwhelming
- 7:42pick as the goat is because like you said earlier,
- 7:46his legend is so far ahead of any current player
- 7:51or past player, because everyone who's basically
- 7:55living right now, has either experienced it,
- 7:59and then the young kids that are growing up were
- 8:01always told about how great Jordan was. And you
- 8:04can look up the highlights and everything on
- 8:06YouTube and all of that stuff. I know how you
- 8:09said how, you know, the only thing he cared about
- 8:13winning. I would say that he loved, as much about
- 8:18winning, he loved smoking cigars. And he also
- 8:22loved dad jeans. and and he loved gambling okay
- 8:27so like there were other things that he loved
- 8:30you know golf baseball left basket he loved basketball
- 8:35left it to go play baseball and i understand
- 8:37you know it's dad passing and all that i'm not
- 8:39trying to make light of it but the the other
- 8:43thing that i can say is that can't be Take it
- 8:49for granted and I think the only reason why we
- 8:51take it for granted now is because we see other
- 8:54examples of athletes doing this Like LeBron is
- 8:58playing into their 40s And of course Brady had
- 9:02a head start on them. Nothing we could do but
- 9:04there's so many great athletes I mean we saw
- 9:07what Steph Curry did opening night this year
- 9:09at 37 years old Incredible at 37 years old and
- 9:13it's crazy because I still remember him as that
- 9:15Davidson kid baby -faced assassin But the way
- 9:20that LeBron has played the physical style of
- 9:24basketball With at such a high level there's
- 9:28never been a player 38 39 40 That puts up the
- 9:34amount of production that he does now What I
- 9:37will say is he does pick of spots He takes it
- 9:41easy. He does not play as hard as he used to
- 9:43but name a 40 year old that does and We could
- 9:48talk about the records and the points records
- 9:50and the games played and all this stuff. It has
- 9:53to matter because when he's all set and done
- 9:58with him, those records will never be broken.
- 10:00He's going to shatter all of those records. And
- 10:04as much of the credit that we want to give to
- 10:06Jordan, Jordan missed some years in his career.
- 10:10He had the injury year. where he hurt himself.
- 10:14He had the, uh, of course the years, like you
- 10:16said, the two years in between the championships,
- 10:19you know, when they came back and lost to the
- 10:20Magic. So these are things that are going to
- 10:23happen throughout a player's career, not LeBron's.
- 10:26He never missed a significant amount of time.
- 10:29The only time he missed time was during like
- 10:30nagging injuries. It just didn't heal up quick
- 10:32enough, but it, I think it has to be in the conversation
- 10:38to where it's not like, Hey, it's just cutting
- 10:39dry. Jordan's better than LeBron period. You
- 10:42have to understand that if you put those two
- 10:46side by side in a game, I think we all would
- 10:49like to think that LeBron, I'm sorry, that Jordan
- 10:52would beat LeBron. But I gotta be honest, man,
- 10:56I like LeBron's chances. Like he was the only
- 10:59thing we know, the only thing I know for sure
- 11:01that Jordan had over LeBron was I firmly believe
- 11:07that Jordan just didn't give a shit. And I think
- 11:10LeBron does care. But if you put them on the
- 11:13court side by side, I think that it would be
- 11:17the time for him to actually care enough to show
- 11:21us what he is. I think if you put them on the
- 11:24court with Jordan in their prime, you would get
- 11:26the best version of LeBron. You may get your
- 11:28best version of Jordan too, but you would absolutely
- 11:31get your best version of LeBron. And that's the
- 11:33best I could do in trying to make a case for
- 11:35Bron. All right. So my turn to poke holes in
- 11:42you. Go ahead. You have the floor. You have the
- 11:46floor, sir. A couple of things. You mentioned
- 11:50his physicality. Well, he definitely doesn't
- 11:53play in the 90s. So LeBron has not played in
- 11:56a physical era of basketball. He plays in the
- 11:59era of basketball where they want offense. And
- 12:02we know LeBron, if the wind blows by his head,
- 12:07he acts like he got stabbed in the face. and
- 12:10he falls on the floor crying and kicking his
- 12:12legs. So we know the, the flop does what he does.
- 12:17Jordan never, Jordan never did that. Now Jordan
- 12:20did get Jordan calls. I'm not going to sit here
- 12:23and act like he didn't. He got, he got that,
- 12:25he got that special treatment, but so, so LeBron
- 12:29does that. We all know, like I said, flopping
- 12:32and you know, the craziest stuff you've ever
- 12:35seen. And we get to the championships. I always
- 12:38bring this up. I can't get, I could never give
- 12:41LeBron the goat title because, you know, he lost
- 12:44to the Dallas Mavericks where he just disappeared
- 12:47in the finals. Michael Jordan would have never
- 12:50disappeared in the finals. He would have never
- 12:52allowed his team or himself to lose to that Dallas
- 12:55Mavericks team. Not a Dirk Nowitzki and a bunch
- 12:59of old dudes, uh, you know, role players and
- 13:02Jason Kidd being an old point guard. Whoa, whoa,
- 13:05whoa, whoa, whoa. We're not going to sit here
- 13:07in a disrespect, JJ Barea. We're not going to
- 13:10disrespect. We will not disrespect JJ. Look,
- 13:14he disappeared. That Heat team was built to win
- 13:17and they didn't get the job done. Then he goes
- 13:22on to win. They beat the Thunder. Then I start
- 13:26then then here's where I start getting a little
- 13:28nitpicky again, right? Like I'm not even I didn't
- 13:31bring up the Cavs like he I give LeBron credit
- 13:33that Cavs team went to the finals. one of that
- 13:37lightning in a bottle seasons playoff run that
- 13:39he had and he was amazing. So I'm giving credit
- 13:42to LeBron. Young LeBron, one of the greatest
- 13:45performances I've ever watched him go against
- 13:47the Pistons in those playoffs. Eventually though,
- 13:51he met the mighty Spurs and they took care of
- 13:54him, which they should have. So now we get back
- 13:57right loose to the Mavericks and this is after
- 13:59coming off those Cav playoff losses where they
- 14:02were saying what happened to Lebron he disappear
- 14:05Against the Celtics against the magic. So here
- 14:08we go in the finals against the Mavs and he disappears,
- 14:10right? No points in fourth quarters things like
- 14:13that, right? We hear Stephen a bring up this
- 14:15stuff So then he beats the Thunder young up -and
- 14:19-coming team then of course he beats the Spurs
- 14:23if only there's just those little things that
- 14:26happen. Like he better send Ray Allen a cake
- 14:31every year or something for knocking down that
- 14:33shot. He better send something to Greg Popovich
- 14:36every year for not having Tim Duncan in that
- 14:39ball game. To grab that rebound? Yeah, to grab
- 14:42that rebound. So he should send Kawhi Leonard
- 14:45something for missing those free throws. Because
- 14:48LeBron had missed every shot. At the end of that
- 14:52game, right? He missed he missed that bad shot
- 14:54that the rebound got kicked out to Ray Allen
- 14:56so At the end of the day though. He did come
- 14:59back game 71. They let him shoot and he performed
- 15:03so credit there Next year Spurs put that whooping
- 15:07on them. I Give LeBron credit for for only a
- 15:12few titles. I'm not gonna go through the whole
- 15:13history The run that he had in the East was amazing
- 15:17That loss to the Mavericks hurts Right. That's
- 15:20a tough one. Then he got a title in a bubble.
- 15:27Oh, damn. Yeah. I mean, these are things that
- 15:30happen that, again, I'm not saying that, I mean,
- 15:33everybody's on the same playing field. You know
- 15:35what I mean? They're all in the bubble. But it's
- 15:38still the bubble. There's no traveling. There's
- 15:40no going, you know. But they won with what was
- 15:43in front of them. But still a bubble. They beat
- 15:47the Warriors that was his greatest victory in
- 15:50the finals. I Would say but of course then you
- 15:54got that asterix of the Draymond suspension the
- 15:58curry injury Curry so there's there's things
- 16:03That happen But he still won he still went to
- 16:09you know All the finals in a row so credit to
- 16:14LeBron But again, those losses, his actions,
- 16:18the flopping, just certain things. But like you
- 16:22said, you know, he did think about things too
- 16:26much. And that's probably because he was playing
- 16:28in Jordan's shadow. I mean, he was crowned the
- 16:31king in high school. You know, he's King James.
- 16:34He's getting televised in high school. So there's
- 16:37a lot of pressure. He's handled it very well.
- 16:39I always give LeBron his credit where it's due.
- 16:43Again, carrying himself the way he carries himself
- 16:45as a family man, staying out of trouble. You
- 16:50never hear anything like that with LeBron. He
- 16:52says a lot of stupid stuff. He puts on an act
- 16:56a lot. He's a really good actor. He just does
- 17:00just stupid stuff that your goat or self -proclaimed
- 17:04goat just can't do. You know what I mean? self
- 17:12-proclaim yourself as well. But there's just
- 17:17those little things. The Jordan stuff, again,
- 17:21you say who would win. I mean, Jordan was pretty
- 17:25tough, man. He was a good defender. I mean, we
- 17:27could say LeBron was a good defender. It would
- 17:31be a tough matchup. Jordan in his prom, though,
- 17:33I mean, he had that killer instinct. It would
- 17:36have been fun. We can always fantasy book that
- 17:38and fantasy think about what that would be like.
- 17:42Two different players, though, also. I think
- 17:45we can agree on that. Built different positions.
- 17:49I think LeBron was really smart. I think he's
- 17:51a really smart player still to this day. Give
- 17:55him credit. He played a lot of games. He hasn't
- 17:59really set out a lot, but he does kind of get
- 18:01into that load management and you heard Jordan
- 18:04I don't know if you saw the interview the other
- 18:05night what he's not a fan or load management
- 18:07And he never was so he played There's all the
- 18:13things we can nitpick and I you can say that
- 18:15there's no there's no one answer right we I'm
- 18:19defending Jordan You're defending LeBron. We
- 18:21thought this would be a good topic to just get
- 18:23it out of the way all podcasts, all shows, they
- 18:26got to do the Jordan LeBron debate. And that's
- 18:28why I said the obligatory goat debate for the
- 18:31NBA. I've lived through both eras now. And of
- 18:37course, I'm going to be partial to the 90s because
- 18:39I believe everything was better in the 90s. I
- 18:41agree. I agree with that. Yeah. So and the Jordan
- 18:45era, you know, I had a little fatigue in the
- 18:4790s, like you said, talked about, you know, again,
- 18:49that comes with anybody winning all the time
- 18:51if it's not your team. Right. Yeah. Again. But
- 18:56the LeBron stuff, again, I was team LeBron up
- 18:58until, man. The decision? No, you know what?
- 19:04I was behind him 100%, man. I used to defend
- 19:07him because he's a free agent. I'm like, well,
- 19:09why are you mad? Like, they did everything within
- 19:11the rule. So what was it? Man, he just started
- 19:14talking. OK, so no, no, no, no, hold on, hold
- 19:17on. So I'm going to. I think it's the talking
- 19:19and the flopping. So if you want to say, the
- 19:22awful court is really just him yapping a lot
- 19:24about stuff. And a lot of times, I'm sorry, and
- 19:27a lot of times I just don't think he was, he
- 19:31knew what he was talking about, but he would
- 19:32like to just put his input. And it's like, we
- 19:35know you think you're a king, but you're not.
- 19:38So here's the thing. So, and I'm, and I can,
- 19:41there's a lot of that that I can agree with when
- 19:43it comes to LeBron. There's a lot of that that
- 19:45I can agree with. So just, just to, and I'll
- 19:50put a bow on this. And this ain't gonna take
- 19:53me long. The thing about Jordan is this. I understand
- 19:59the thing you're saying about LeBron, he says
- 20:01this and he does this stuff off the court. Jordan
- 20:04didn't say shit. Jordan never said anything meaningful.
- 20:08All the favorite quotes that we have from Jordan
- 20:10either come from his commercials or something
- 20:12that we've heard somebody else repeat that he
- 20:15said. Like he doesn't really, he's not. I mean,
- 20:18the last dance documentary, it's like, okay,
- 20:21he had a chance to kind of rehearse for that.
- 20:23It's fine. It was tailor -made for Jordan sitting
- 20:28on the couch with some scotch or some whiskey
- 20:30or whatever that was he was drinking, right?
- 20:32It was tailor -made. But I think all in all,
- 20:36the reason why, if no one's gonna pick LeBron
- 20:41as the GOAT, the main reason is because at the
- 20:45end of the day, no matter how long he lives,
- 20:49no matter how much money he makes, no matter
- 20:50what he does, he will never, he will never be
- 20:54as cool as Michael Jordan. And I think that's
- 20:56what it boils down to. We always look at LeBron
- 20:59as some dude that's trying too hard. Dude that's
- 21:02maybe a little too corny. And you never got that
- 21:06from Jordan. And I think that's what it is. It's
- 21:09the, you could take all the on the court stuff,
- 21:11like you mentioned, we could bring up stats all
- 21:13day. But then you couple that with the guy who,
- 21:17literally made bald cool. We talk about a guy
- 21:22who, and people seem to forget this. People seem
- 21:26to forget this about Jordan. Jordan had a commercial
- 21:28where he literally had a Hitler mustache and
- 21:31no one said anything. He was selling Hanes on
- 21:36a flight. He was in the air selling underwear
- 21:39with a Hitler mustache. They took a, they could
- 21:42do a Sharpie right under the nose. Yeah, give
- 21:44him, give him the skid mark right there on his
- 21:45lip. Like, so, so I get it. I understand it.
- 21:48It makes sense to me, but so I think, I think
- 21:52those types of things are going to be things
- 21:54that are outside of LeBron's control. He is who
- 21:56he is. I do think he's a little bit of a corn
- 21:58ball and, and I think that hurts and, and makes
- 22:02him, I hate using the word legacy. God is so
- 22:05fucking lame, but The other thing that kills
- 22:09me about this, and I know somebody's gonna steal
- 22:11my take, but that's why LeBron will never be
- 22:15Jordan. The level of cool that Michael Jordan
- 22:21had in that era, all the brands and products
- 22:24that that man is responsible for still being
- 22:27cool today, McDonald's, Gatorade, Nike, Hanes,
- 22:32those are still his cologne, James. His Jordan
- 22:36shoes, the shoes alone are the greatest shoes
- 22:38ever created. You know, so much so, and I was
- 22:41actually, I was listening to something earlier,
- 22:45listening to a podcast and they were talking
- 22:47about Complex does like a top, you know, 25 shoes
- 22:50of the year or whatever. And over half of them
- 22:52are retro Jordans, which to me is cheating. Like
- 22:56if you're going to do a shoes of the year, why
- 22:58don't you do new shoes that are coming out with
- 23:00all these new athletes and kind of give them
- 23:01a chance to promote them? I get it. The Jordans
- 23:04are dope. I get it. Because they're still not
- 23:06better than the Jordans. Maybe, but the Jordans
- 23:09are going to sell without complex, putting them,
- 23:11putting half of them on their list. The off whites
- 23:13and the, you know, all the retros and all that
- 23:16stuff. So, you know, props to Jordan. He's killing
- 23:18it. By the way, I need you to admit that the
- 23:21interviews that Jordan is doing kind of cheesy.
- 23:30Yeah, I mean, I'm not going to sit there and
- 23:32watch it. Got what what else what else does Jordan
- 23:36have to tell me? Like I like I like the clips
- 23:39like you said it show it tell you talking about
- 23:41load management. I like that because It is stupid,
- 23:44but you didn't but here's thing, but and I'm
- 23:46not gonna I'm not giving you that kit You didn't
- 23:49need Jordan to tell you that everybody had like
- 23:51Jordan says something that was profound We all
- 23:54who loves look, you know, there's only one person
- 23:56on this planet who loves load management makes
- 23:58him the goat What? Greg Popovich. He created,
- 24:03he's the creator of, of, of the, of load management.
- 24:06So he did it in a special way, but the other,
- 24:10the other thing, one more thing that'll make
- 24:11Jordan better, LeBron is, uh, his space jam is
- 24:14better than LeBron's space. He did have a much
- 24:16better space jam. So much so because I didn't
- 24:19want to watch the second one. I didn't watch
- 24:20the second one either, dude. There's no reason
- 24:22hell out of here, LeBron. No, you can't want
- 24:26to get out of Michael Jordan's shadow and then
- 24:28try to - And literally follow in his footsteps.
- 24:30Nah, I can't do it. Can't do it. Not going to
- 24:33be able to do it. LeBron is an all -time great.
- 24:37He is. He is. It's an all -time fun conversation.
- 24:39He's a top five. He's in the starting lineup
- 24:41of the all -time five. Anybody would take him
- 24:45every day of the week. I would take him on the
- 24:47hornets. There were times I wanted that trade,
- 24:49Jordan, to go get LeBron. Because I'll take -
- 24:53I'll take anybody in Charlotte to make them a
- 24:55winner. But I could tell good fun conversation.
- 24:59We're going to shift gears if you're ready to
- 25:01shift gears. Yeah, let's let's go. What you got?
- 25:07We're going to hit on all the other sports that
- 25:10we care about, about who's the goat. A lot of
- 25:13these are going to be really short conversations.
- 25:17You know, we knocked out the NBA there with Jordan
- 25:18LeBron, and now we're going to get into first
- 25:21the NFL. Okay. All right. So I think I want to
- 25:25take this one. So we're talking, we're talking
- 25:29Goat, greatest player of all time within the
- 25:32NFL. So that means for any position. Yes. That
- 25:36means for any era, that means for any team. So
- 25:38we are going just purely on, on, on their greatness
- 25:42as a player. Now for the LeBron Jordan conversation,
- 25:47there was a lot of back and forth about all the
- 25:50things that were taking place off the court.
- 25:52Do those components matter when it comes to this
- 25:55particular goat debate as well? I Think you can
- 26:00bring them up but for some reason in football
- 26:02doesn't feel the same does it? They don't like
- 26:05to use the off -the -field stuff, you know, unless
- 26:08we go back to our sports villains and OJ Simpson,
- 26:10but Yeah, no, I'm with you, um, okay, so I'm
- 26:17gonna go with my goat All -timer Hall of Famer,
- 26:23he has a very simple name that even if you were
- 26:28to hear it, it doesn't matter. You're still going
- 26:30to think about this man. He was an amazing athlete
- 26:37in multiple sports. He played in an era that
- 26:42was very hard to be at the highest of high levels.
- 26:46At this time, they did not make a lot of money,
- 26:48but He was able to parlay all of that football
- 26:53success into a very respectable acting career.
- 27:00And on top of that, he was one of the most prominent
- 27:04athletic civil rights leaders of our time. I'm
- 27:07talking about a one and only Mr. Jim Brown himself.
- 27:12Okay. Nice. Just it's easy. I mean, listen, if
- 27:16anybody wants, if you, if you don't believe me,
- 27:18go back and look up some Jim Brown highlights
- 27:19is all over YouTube. Look at his stats, look
- 27:22at what he did. And a lot of people don't know
- 27:24this hell of a lacrosse player. Oh yeah. Yeah.
- 27:28So, yeah. So it, so, I mean, just solid resume
- 27:31top to bottom. He's got controversial stuff in
- 27:34his past, like all athletes from that era does.
- 27:36And I'm not dismissing any of that, but, but
- 27:39in terms of my Goat greatest of all time athlete
- 27:43the the toughness He did this without all of
- 27:46the drugs in the era now all the surgeries in
- 27:49this era now You know and without you know the
- 27:53modern Conveniences that athletes have and that
- 27:56dude was an absolute murderer on the football
- 27:58field Jim Brown with a bullet Okay So see so
- 28:03we can agree we don't have Tom Brady as the good.
- 28:08Oh I do have Tom Brady as a GOAT, but when it
- 28:13comes to quarterbacks, and I'll leave it at that.
- 28:16Okay. I just want to bring up my Tom Brady take
- 28:20is just that he only really won two Super Bowls.
- 28:27Wow. Okay. Maybe three. Listen, no, I'm not gonna
- 28:32allow you to do this. I will do that. No, no,
- 28:34no, I'm not gonna allow you to take away championships
- 28:37from people who went out there and earned them.
- 28:40That man was the start, that man, hold on, that
- 28:41man was, he wasn't on the bench, he was the starting
- 28:43quarterback. Listen. For those teams that won
- 28:46Super Bowls, I will not allow that to happen,
- 28:48sir. I'm not gonna take away championships. Sure
- 28:52sounds like it. But when there's always a yeah,
- 28:55but. You know what I mean? Then that championship
- 28:58has a little, you know, it's a little tainted.
- 29:00Like I said, the first three, they were video,
- 29:02you know, they were cheating, videotaping practices
- 29:05before the Super Bowl. We don't know what they
- 29:07saw those first three titles. And then you got
- 29:10the, all the Seahawks have to do is hand the
- 29:13ball off. They should have never won that game.
- 29:16I know that they did, but I'm just saying, Seahawks
- 29:20just hand it off. Listen, if you give me, if
- 29:23you give me, The yeah, but I could I could massacre
- 29:29anyone's like championship resumes. I understand
- 29:32Yeah, so I'm not gonna allow you to do it. I
- 29:35can't this is I put Tom Brady like LeBron Tom
- 29:40Brady did perform and he and he played it alone
- 29:43At a high level for a long time. I would never
- 29:46take that away. I only like to argue about his
- 29:49championships that They all have something going
- 29:53on The Patriots Rams was one of the worst Super
- 29:56Bowls in history of the world. The Buc Super
- 30:00Bowl, that was probably his best one, to be honest
- 30:04with you. But yeah, I can agree. He's an unbelievable
- 30:09player. He played for a really long time. Again,
- 30:12I like to go back in the past. Joe Montana was
- 30:14pretty dang good. Also different eras. I think
- 30:18we forget about that too. Like Tom Brady got
- 30:21the Tom Brady rule. He had the tuck rule. Again,
- 30:26offensive -minded league. That's where numbers
- 30:29are inflated now. I know athletes are better,
- 30:31players are better, but all that stuff comes
- 30:34into play. I'm not going to go Brady just because
- 30:39I think we can both agree on that. I'm just going
- 30:42to go Barry Sanders. OK, you're going to have
- 30:47to elaborate. We always talk about No one no
- 30:54one ran the ball like Barry Sanders. Nobody had
- 30:57those moves Nobody put up the numbers in a short
- 31:00bit of time outside of Jim Brown, right? Both
- 31:03of them short careers very short careers and
- 31:05I can't argue with Jim Brown I'm just giving
- 31:07you an a different person but Barry Sanders again,
- 31:10we always talk about if he had that Dallas offensive
- 31:13line How many yards would he had rushed for?
- 31:17He played in Detroit They had a couple of good
- 31:22teams, but never really, I don't think, serious
- 31:25contenders for a championship. And I think a
- 31:29lot of that was because they had Barry Sanders.
- 31:32There's been no one like him until probably Saquon,
- 31:38truthfully. There might be a couple other players
- 31:42in there, but the one that reminds you of Barry
- 31:45is Saquon Barkley. But yeah, I mean, again, is
- 31:51he the NFL GOAT? I don't know. Maybe running
- 31:53back. Then you got Jerry Rice, greatest receiver.
- 31:58Deion Sanders, greatest corner. I mean, there's
- 32:02so many GOATs. I'm not going to sit here and
- 32:05just give one. I just can't. Got it. No, and
- 32:08that's fine. I think I just wanted to hit on
- 32:11a conversation about it. I've got more to say
- 32:14on the baseball, probably, though. Got it. And
- 32:17yeah, and like I said, and the one thing I'll
- 32:19use to kind of close with the NFL and their particular
- 32:22goats that we picked. Yeah. A comparison and
- 32:25a correlation between both of our picks, and
- 32:27we did not do this intentionally. Both Jen Brown
- 32:30and Barry Sanders, they both only played for
- 32:33one team their entire careers. Wow. So it's a
- 32:37rarity. Obviously, something like that doesn't
- 32:39take place nowadays. Totally different time.
- 32:42But yeah, I mean, it's in different eras. But
- 32:47yeah, both, you know both killers and yeah, I
- 32:50like that Barry Sanders pick You know just because
- 32:53it's hard to argue because I don't think there's
- 32:55any bad words that have ever been said about
- 32:57that man Never. Yeah. He I mean, he's just he's
- 33:00the the panic. He's the pinnacle He's the football
- 33:04players football player So our next Goat conversation
- 33:14real quick is Major League Baseball. And this
- 33:17is a fun one because there's so many factors,
- 33:20so many variables. You want me to go? Yeah, lead
- 33:27off on this one using my baseball puns. So I
- 33:32did some numbers. I do this every now, especially
- 33:34with baseball. I like to just take stats, take
- 33:37numbers, take awards, put it in a spreadsheet.
- 33:41Then compare I do this mainly for like Hall of
- 33:44Fame, but I've been doing it lately for who is
- 33:48in that conversation of greatest player ever
- 33:51in Major League Baseball Now we got you know,
- 33:57you got your steroids that affect some players
- 34:00and Then I've got my I don't know if it's a hot
- 34:05take but anybody ever taught had this conversation
- 34:07with me They know what I bring up when I talk
- 34:09about Babe Ruth Takab, guys like that. Yes. I
- 34:14don't put you in the goat conversation unless.
- 34:17Can I say it? Can I say it? You can say it. Because
- 34:20you didn't play against black people. Yeah. You
- 34:23didn't play against the Dominicans. Hispanic.
- 34:25Like, you have to play against everybody. You
- 34:28can't, you know, you know, yeah, you have to
- 34:31play after integration. So, Bebrew, sorry. Your
- 34:37crackerjack ballparks you will not get on my
- 34:40goat list I Don't care how great and mythical
- 34:44you are So I look at the numbers and you got
- 34:48guys like Pete Rose all -time hit leader Outside
- 34:51the gambling again, Charlie Hussle, right? I
- 34:54mean he did everything played every all kinds
- 34:56of positions Your every your every man's man
- 35:01baseball player, right? You got Hank Aaron Was
- 35:04the home run king but put up he's right up there
- 35:09and hits as well with Pete Rose Pretty good fielder
- 35:15all -around player. He had that longevity, right?
- 35:18He played for a really long time to Got the you
- 35:22know champion MVP those things coming to play
- 35:25Willie Mays Unbelievable fielder again got the
- 35:27home runs got the hits got the fielding I look
- 35:31at all of this stuff. Mickey Mano, they, you
- 35:34know, considered the greatest switch hitter ever.
- 35:36Didn't have the numbers because of injuries and
- 35:39things like that, but had the homers. All -time
- 35:44Yankee. Then you got like Ken Griffey Jr. His
- 35:49numbers are slightly down because of injuries,
- 35:52right? But still, MVP, home run hitter, unbelievable
- 35:55fielder, sweetest swing ever in baseball. Hold
- 35:59on. Wait a minute. Whoa. Hold on. Yeah. Record
- 36:02scratch. I'm not going to sit here and let you
- 36:05name 18 baseball players. I'm just naming them.
- 36:08And then I'm going to get to the guy. I need
- 36:11you to pick one. I got you. I'm just bringing
- 36:13up everybody in the conversation. Albert Pujols
- 36:16is in the conversation. A -Rod is. But again,
- 36:22A -Rod hurt himself by getting busted. Ew. If
- 36:27you look at everything A -Rod, number -wise,
- 36:29historic -wise, he was an unbelievable talent
- 36:33as soon as he walked onto a field. But then when
- 36:37you get caught after the fact, that's the problem.
- 36:41So I don't know, we don't know when his usage
- 36:44started and ended. My goat is Barry Bonds. And
- 36:49that's because if you take, I've taken the numbers
- 36:53after, the alleged steroid use. And if you just
- 37:00take the averages that he had before that with
- 37:03his career, kind of like, due to math, he's still
- 37:08a Hall of Famer. He's still got the MVPs. He's
- 37:11still got the All -Stars. He's still got the
- 37:13gold gloves. Maybe not as many. Maybe not as
- 37:17many walks. Definitely not as many home runs.
- 37:21But if you take the average out the numbers man,
- 37:24he was already a Hall of Famer I think he was
- 37:27the most complete player that ever stepped on
- 37:31a baseball field and That is at this moment.
- 37:35Obviously You could say Shohei Otani. He pitches
- 37:38he hits he doesn't play the field though. So
- 37:41Okay I mean, that's not a bad pit a bad pick.
- 37:47I I mean my pick is pretty Straightforward. It's
- 37:53you know, it's it's it's easy for me and I'm
- 37:57gonna pick a gentleman who played baseball from
- 38:001948 to 1973 Who started his career in the Negro
- 38:07Leagues, I'm gonna go with mr. Willie Mays Yeah,
- 38:10not a bad not not a bad pick at all. He I mean
- 38:13his his stats are what they are, you know, six
- 38:16hundred to sixty home runs but to play professional
- 38:21baseball, you know, starting in the Negro leagues
- 38:25and to have a career that spans that long over
- 38:30that many eras throughout the civil rights era,
- 38:34you know, into the early seventies and the the
- 38:41impact that he had on the game as a player. And
- 38:43that's the thing. Like he was such a he was such
- 38:45an impactful player. I have no idea what his
- 38:48voice sounds like. Like there's just not I haven't
- 38:52seen just a lot of footage and interviews Later
- 38:54in his life I have but I mean, it's just it's
- 38:57different But I mean just kind of him as a player
- 38:58and there's a lot of reasons for that But but
- 39:01but who he is as a baseball player like if you
- 39:03when you say his name, it's instantly respected
- 39:06No asterisks whatsoever No caveats whatsoever
- 39:11you know you mentioned you don't be group in
- 39:13you know uh... you don't have to have been you
- 39:16know every week ago you know uh... you know uh...
- 39:19luke garrick mickey manel you know barry bonds
- 39:21you know steroids use like you you could go through
- 39:24all these different names but you know a similar
- 39:27to what you said earlier about uh... barry sanders
- 39:32like no one's gonna have uh... you know uh...
- 39:35bad word to say about you know Willie Mays so
- 39:38never heard you know never heard a bad word never
- 39:40heard a bad word and you know so for me it's
- 39:43it's just a very simple easy pick as we know
- 39:45you were at a bigger MLB fan than I am yes but
- 39:49but I think that pick is you know beyond respectable
- 39:53I think if you pull any list of top baseball
- 39:55players of all time he's certainly in a top five
- 39:58on every single list ever made I was about to
- 40:00say, he's top five. So if you've got him at one
- 40:03or five or in the middle, it's okay. Because
- 40:07like you talked about, the air he played in,
- 40:10the same for Hank Aaron. If you said Hank Aaron,
- 40:14the only difference is Mays was a better fielder.
- 40:17So Hank Aaron went through the same stuff, getting
- 40:20into the league, playing in... having to deal
- 40:24with what they dealt with during that time period
- 40:27and still to become the players they were become,
- 40:30it showed how great they were as a player and
- 40:33a person to do that. So yeah, I think like you
- 40:37said, he's a top five. And if he's your number
- 40:40one, that's a great pick. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. I
- 40:43got a role with Willie Mays. Let's transition
- 40:52to okay. So we went from NFL which I know very
- 40:54well to MOB, which I know a little less about
- 40:57to To wrestling professional wrestling, which
- 41:00is something I don't know much about at all.
- 41:03So I'll let you lead the way on this. You can't
- 41:07name 87 damn names, okay? I'm not getting any
- 41:12seven names. I told you when we did this I said
- 41:15hey just tell me, you know, we're gonna do WWE
- 41:17only I just wanna get it out there who I have.
- 41:22Again, this is that obligatory Mount Rushmore.
- 41:24We're not gonna do a lot of Mount Rushmores because
- 41:26everybody does it, but I wanted to get the WWE
- 41:29out because that's always a conversation. Who's
- 41:32on the mountain? Who's on the mountain? Well,
- 41:33no, no, no. See, and I think this is where things
- 41:36get twisted because you're saying WWE. Yes. I
- 41:40don't know the difference between WWE and other
- 41:42wrestling leagues. So what I'm saying is just,
- 41:44so make it all of wrestling. I will not make
- 41:47it all wrestling because I am that guy and there's
- 41:50gonna be wrestling fans, they get mad about it.
- 41:52You're a wrestling snob. I am a snob because
- 41:55they will, oh, you gotta watch everything. No,
- 41:57I don't. Like, I used to watch, you know, again,
- 42:01there used to be WCW, then it got bought by WWE.
- 42:05We got TNA still. We got AEW now. There's New
- 42:09Japan. There's all kinds of wrestling. I'm just
- 42:12sticking to the number one. The number one is
- 42:15WWE, so I just wanna get my Mount Rushmore out
- 42:19there, get it on record. And I'm gonna tell you
- 42:23why these four guys are on the Mount Rushmore,
- 42:25and there's a couple knocking on the door. First,
- 42:30Hulk Hogan. Again, what he did for wrestling,
- 42:35the craze that was Hulkamania, coming from the
- 42:39movies and Rocky into the WWF at the time. WrestleMania,
- 42:45he helped grow the sport. He is the reason why
- 42:48the sport is what it is today. Then he was in
- 42:51movies, TV shows, everything Hulk Hogan was.
- 42:55And then not only was he that in the WWF, WWE
- 42:58at the time, then he went to WCW and did it again,
- 43:03this time as a heel as Hollywood Hulk Hogan.
- 43:06So I know I jumped to WCW, but all that and what
- 43:10he was. makes him the goat, the fandom, all that
- 43:15matters, right? Hogan didn't have a bunch of
- 43:17wrestling moves, and people still loved him.
- 43:20They just loved his charisma, his personality,
- 43:24the persona, everything Hulk Hogan, Hulkamania,
- 43:27and when you're like that in the business of
- 43:30wrestling, they're like, yeah, we're putting
- 43:31the title on you. Beyond all the stories about
- 43:34Hulk Hogan, behind the scenes stuff, all that
- 43:37didn't matter. As a performer, as a wrestler,
- 43:40he is on that list as the WWE, one of the goats.
- 43:43The other one is the same reason. You have to
- 43:47be a part of the run, a part of the craze, a
- 43:51part of the fandom. Stone Cold Steve Austin.
- 43:54Got it, yeah. Started as a heel, turned into
- 43:58kind of like a heel slash baby face. Austin 316
- 44:02took off like nothing else. His fandom, he had
- 44:05a shorter span. Of career as Stone Cold Steve
- 44:09Austin, but the the he was the guy, right? He
- 44:13was 1a because 1a 1b I'll talk about that here
- 44:17so shortly Stone Cold again the fandom the popularity
- 44:21the merch Everything that came with it even rest,
- 44:25you know again same with Hogan Even if you didn't
- 44:27watch wrestling you knew who Hogan was you know
- 44:29who Stone Cold Steve Austin was? And you still
- 44:32do know who he is That 1a 1b that time period
- 44:35the Rock, right? There was nobody. Rock and Stone
- 44:40Cold were right there. And again, it's, again,
- 44:43the fans, number one guy, top draw. Then he becomes
- 44:47a movie star. He can come back any time he wants.
- 44:50And I bet you he gets cheered louder than anybody
- 44:52else on that roster to this day. He's just got
- 44:57it. He was born for it. It's in his blood. It's
- 44:58in his family. And again, the merchandise. The
- 45:02catchphrases, same with Stone Cold, catchphrases,
- 45:05Hogan, catchphrases, merchandise, all that matters
- 45:09when you're talking about being the number one
- 45:11guy. Rock also able to go heel, face it, baby
- 45:16face any time, and you still love him no matter
- 45:18what he does. He's just, again, one of a kind
- 45:21of performer on the mic in the ring. And then
- 45:25lastly is John Cena. OK. Now, Cena had to grow
- 45:32on me as a wrestling fan, but then again, the
- 45:37longevity of it, the fandom, again, the popularity.
- 45:43I mentioned that in the villains one. I mentioned
- 45:46John Cena because he got that Jordan -type treatment
- 45:50a little bit, right? I mean, he's the guy. They
- 45:53push him, push him, push him, push him, and you
- 45:55kind of get sick of it. But you have to respect
- 45:57him. He carried the company just like those other
- 46:00three guys carried the company into a new era,
- 46:03whether it was into popularity or out of a rut.
- 46:08They've all done it. Those four guys did it.
- 46:13And merchandise, championships, all that stuff
- 46:16included. There was no one like those four. There's
- 46:20one guy that's knocking on that door and he's
- 46:23probably Maybe he's got five years depending
- 46:26on how you know, we don't know yet. Okay. Can
- 46:28I guess can I guess? And keep in mind, I don't
- 46:31know shit about wrestling. So I'm just gonna
- 46:33make a guess. Yeah, go for it. Are you gonna
- 46:35say Roman Reigns? Roman Reigns is knocking on
- 46:39the door. And again, we could talk about wrestlers
- 46:42all day long and I'm just giving you my recipe
- 46:46or my criteria for what I believe makes them
- 46:50the GOAT on Mount Rushmore. So I'm going to say
- 46:52this, and this is just going to be, and I'm being
- 46:55completely honest. I'm not even trying to be
- 46:57funny when I say this. I know that every other
- 47:00name that you mentioned, I know. Like I know
- 47:03them. I've seen something that they've done.
- 47:06I've seen a movie that they've been in. I've
- 47:07seen a commercial that they star in. You don't
- 47:11watch wrestling? No, I don't. I don't. But I
- 47:16feel, and maybe it will take time. Maybe it will
- 47:18take five more years. No bullshit. I have no
- 47:21idea what Roman Reigns looks like. None. I just
- 47:24don't. I just don't. And that's not a sign of
- 47:27disrespect. Those other guys have tenure and
- 47:29history and decades of work where anything that
- 47:33they've done from movies to being the wrestling
- 47:37heel has crossed my path. Roman Reigns, I do
- 47:39know his name. No idea what that dude looks like.
- 47:43I'ma Google it right now. Yeah, so Quico Roman
- 47:45Reigns, he came up when he got on the main roster
- 47:48through a group called The Shield. They were
- 47:51popular, and then like all groups and... I know
- 47:54this dude! Okay, no, I seen him before. Okay,
- 47:57I ain't know that was him. So all groups and
- 48:00factions, they eventually go and they get their
- 48:02singles career. And his kind of started rough
- 48:04because he was shoved down people's throats.
- 48:06It wasn't until he turned heel and became what
- 48:09they call the tribal chief. Then he became actually
- 48:12more popular as a heel He became better wrestler
- 48:16better on the mic everything better and he carried
- 48:18the company out of kovat For the last so many
- 48:22years until it was time to hand it over to Cody
- 48:24Rhodes But again to this day he is box office
- 48:28He doesn't he's not he is full -time, but he's
- 48:32not on every week. He's not on every show So
- 48:36when Roman Reigns shows up, it's a big deal But
- 48:39he's right up there, man. He's knocking on the
- 48:41door. So that's my WWE. That's my nerd take for
- 48:47the day. So yeah, I wanted to get my Mount Rushmore
- 48:51out there, man. Yeah. Like I said, the Roman
- 48:53Reigns, I know his face. And I get it. I mean,
- 48:58when I see it, it's like, oh, OK, yeah, I've
- 48:59seen this guy and stuff. But I didn't make a
- 49:02connection between the two. But the other guys
- 49:04that you put on there, yeah, they're on the list
- 49:07for sure. Yeah, all of those guys. I mean, come
- 49:10on, man. Like, Hulk Hogan was in a Rocky movie.
- 49:12That's all it takes. Let's kind of round out
- 49:20the GOAT conversations. Yep. And this is a little
- 49:23more all -encompassing. So we've got one final
- 49:29GOAT list or one final GOAT category. And that's
- 49:33GOAT for all -time athlete. So the all -time
- 49:37Goat. So this covers any sport. This covers any
- 49:43era. And I'm going to be a little controversial
- 49:50with it, because I actually have two picks. When
- 49:52I say both of them, I think you'll understand
- 49:54why. OK. So I am going to defer to you and let
- 49:59you go ahead and get yours off for all -time
- 50:02goat athlete. OK. So with this one, it was the
- 50:05mindset of, You had to be a great player not
- 50:09necessarily the greatest player in your sport
- 50:11But mine it I was just talking about athlete
- 50:15right physical everything that you think this
- 50:19guy could do anything and If you if you remember
- 50:24the the commercials dude had a Nike deal he had
- 50:27a slogan He played multiple sports and then after
- 50:32sports then he took up What do you call it? Archery?
- 50:37Is that what it's called? Yes, it's called archery.
- 50:41Like you're shooting bow and arrows? Yes. Bow
- 50:44Jackson. OK. Injuries derailed his career, but
- 50:48that man was the greatest athlete I've ever seen
- 50:50play any kind of professional sport. He was built
- 50:52like a god. You know what I mean? In college,
- 50:57he was a monster. Professional, he was a monster.
- 51:00You had the bow nose commercial and the slogan.
- 51:04had his own shoe, you know, that was of course,
- 51:08you could thank Jordan for that probably, but
- 51:10still, Bo Jackson again though, overall though,
- 51:14was the greatest athlete I've ever seen step
- 51:17foot on a field, a baseball field, football field.
- 51:21He was one of a kind. And again, at the time,
- 51:25I mean, I think he put fear in people too, man.
- 51:28I mean, like I said, he was just built like no
- 51:30other. unfortunately the hip injury and you know
- 51:33nowadays he probably would have bounced back
- 51:36like nothing and played again but that's my guy
- 51:39Bo Jackson okay I I have two picks and again
- 51:45this is gonna make sense when I when I dive into
- 51:47it so I'm gonna go with with the most the more
- 51:51controversial pick just kind of out of the box
- 51:54just to get it out of the way I hate this because
- 51:58I should just have one, but I gotta go two. My
- 52:02first pick is gonna be Serena Williams. Now,
- 52:09the only reason I say that is because if we're
- 52:11gonna go with most athletic, goat athlete, chances
- 52:15are it's gonna be a dude. It's gonna be a male.
- 52:17And I feel like Serena needs that respect as...
- 52:22as I deem the greatest female athlete I've ever
- 52:25seen with my eyes. Yeah. She dominated her competition
- 52:28year in, year out, you know, left tennis, had
- 52:32a baby, came back, still continue to dominate,
- 52:35you know, up into her late thirties, late thirties,
- 52:38you know, and, and, and, um, and this isn't a
- 52:42shot at her. This is no disrespect whatsoever.
- 52:44She even at with what I would deem a more significant
- 52:50weight gain than her contemporaries, than the
- 52:53competition that she was playing against, even
- 52:56at her weight and size, still was dominating.
- 52:59So, I think that lends to, like you said, in
- 53:02terms of the athleticism. I mean, you tell me
- 53:05what's more impressive than someone who isn't
- 53:08in pristine physical shape, still out there dominating
- 53:12the best people for years, and they know when
- 53:17they step on... um the uh the tennis courts with
- 53:20her that that they have a very slim chance if
- 53:23no chance whatsoever so i'm just want to give
- 53:25her her respect i like that's not pandering to
- 53:28women whatsoever but i but i absolutely have
- 53:30to include her in it no that's a really good
- 53:32one um when it comes to uh i guess i'll do the
- 53:36male athlete it's easy for me and we know that
- 53:41this person was great throughout their entire
- 53:43career um long career And I think the thing that
- 53:49was most telling for me that kind of solidified
- 53:52it for me was there was a pivotal moment in this
- 53:56athlete's career where there was a competition
- 54:00where they were absolutely getting destroyed,
- 54:05literally getting destroyed. Not only did they
- 54:10triumph over getting destroyed, them getting
- 54:13destroyed was actually part of the strategy of
- 54:16them winning. I'm going with Mr. Muhammad Ali,
- 54:20and I'm specifically referencing Rumble in the
- 54:22Jungle, where the plan going in was to let Foreman
- 54:26beat his ass for as many rounds as he could take
- 54:29it, to literally exhaust and tire himself out,
- 54:33and then have the speed, skill, strength, and
- 54:36athleticism. And listen, I know a lot of people,
- 54:41especially if you're younger, you're thinking
- 54:42George Foreman, you think about the grills, you
- 54:44think about the over -rate dudes selling stuff
- 54:46on TV. No, no, no, no, no. George Foreman was
- 54:48an absolute monster. Had some of the biggest
- 54:51hands you've ever seen on a boxer. Just a mountain
- 54:56of a man, all muscle, cornbread fed dude. He
- 55:01was an animal. And Muhammad Ali wore that ass
- 55:04whooping the entire fight. Then when it came
- 55:07time to put form it away after letting him tire
- 55:09himself out by just taking the punishment You've
- 55:13never seen anything like that in sports, and
- 55:15I don't think we'll ever see anything like that
- 55:17ever again. It was such a it was a Masterful
- 55:22performance by Muhammad Ali where you could say
- 55:26He woke up that morning and saying how can I
- 55:29beat this guy? What do I need to do to win and
- 55:33he went out and did the craziest thing ever?
- 55:36during the rumble in the jungle. So for me, and
- 55:40you know, and look, we could go all day, the,
- 55:44you know, all the, you know, his titles being
- 55:48taken away, you know, being removed from boxing
- 55:50for years, you know, all of the civil rights,
- 55:52you know, the Vietnam War, all that other stuff.
- 55:55I'm talking about him just as an athlete. That
- 55:56stuff helps, but as an athlete, give me Muhammad
- 56:00Ali. Got you. Not a bad pick at all. Can't go
- 56:05wrong. I like them all. I like all those picks.
- 56:08Yeah, man. No, that was a... Yeah, I had to.
- 56:12I was sitting there and I was thinking about
- 56:13it, man. Like, I gotta... Yeah, man, I gotta
- 56:16take Ali. All right, we'll go to our fun, random
- 56:25topic. And not... I guess it is kind of a goat
- 56:29conversation, but it's kind of a different...
- 56:35What sounds do goats make? They don't make the
- 56:37same sounds as sheep, do they? I think they do.
- 56:45You grew up with goats. What sounds do they make?
- 56:48I mean, like, they bat, you know? They bat? Okay.
- 56:55Yeah. I mean, I didn't know. My assumption was
- 56:59that they make the same... Yeah, the same sounds
- 57:03as a sheep. Yeah, you just gotta watch out for
- 57:05them horns on them billy goats, man. Oh, yeah,
- 57:08absolutely. Of course you do. OK, so you had
- 57:12a fun random topic. Who is our favorite all -time
- 57:16best left -handed athlete player? Oh, man. OK.
- 57:23You can go first, because I don't know what you
- 57:24got. Oh, damn it. Man, so this is kind of cheating.
- 57:32And I hope I'm not taking any wind out of your
- 57:34sails, because I hope I'm not going to say the
- 57:36one that you were going to say. I'm not going
- 57:40to say it. I'm not going to say the other one.
- 57:41I'm just going to go with my pick, because I
- 57:43think it's going to, not only is it going to
- 57:45surprise you, I don't even know if you know that
- 57:47this person is technically left handed. And the
- 57:50reason this person is technically left handed
- 57:52is because this person is ambidextrous. Oh, OK.
- 57:57I'm going with LeBron. Wow. Now, I myself am
- 58:02ambidextrous, so I'm partial to this. And when
- 58:06you see the way - He don't shoot left -handed.
- 58:08He does not shoot left -handed, but neither do
- 58:10I. And I'm absolutely ambidextrous. I could throw
- 58:15a football, baseball, basketball, as well with
- 58:18my right hand as I can with my left hand, but
- 58:21I'm right -hand dominant when it comes to that.
- 58:23But my left -hand passes are sick. Wow. So it's
- 58:27just I'm partial to that. And I think that's
- 58:31something that kind of lends to how versatile,
- 58:34you know, LeBron always was. He was always great
- 58:36going left. And I don't think people kind of
- 58:37gave him credit for that. You know, but but for
- 58:41me, yeah, I mean, it's a little bit of cheating
- 58:42because he's technically left and right handed.
- 58:45But being ambidextrous means that you are indeed
- 58:48left handed. So I'm a Kate LeBron. OK. I'm going
- 58:52to go opposite because I had this I had one person
- 58:55as the the MLB Goat and Barry Bonds, but I'm
- 58:59not going to pick Barry Bonds. Okay. I'm going
- 59:01to go with Ken Griffey Jr. Oh damn. That's a
- 59:05good one. Oh, okay. As my, I guess my favorite
- 59:10or the best left -handed cause I'm not going
- 59:12to say the same as like the MLB Goat. Um, but
- 59:16I think there was a lot of options here. I'm
- 59:17going Griffey again, sweetest swing ever. Unbelievable
- 59:21center fielder. Uh, I guess pop culture icon
- 59:25as well, right? I mean he had everything backwards
- 59:28hat. They still use that logo on clothing to
- 59:30this day They have the whole thing with baseball
- 59:33ism. You get your King Griffey Jr. Gear Had it
- 59:37had a video game all that stuff There was you
- 59:42know, not too many like them allegedly he did
- 59:45it all clean How could you not like King Griffey
- 59:49Jr? Other people though I thought about and I'm
- 59:53not gonna name five hundred, you know, twenty
- 59:55people run log off, but Yeah, but you know, I
- 1:00:00thought about Michael Vick. I thought about Tim
- 1:00:03Tebow Obviously bonds and you could go with Steve
- 1:00:09Young and another good one that I never really
- 1:00:12thought about was Jim Abbott and If you don't
- 1:00:15know Jim Abbott go look them up He only had his
- 1:00:18left hand and he was still able to pitch in the
- 1:00:21major leagues for many years. That's an unbelievable
- 1:00:26story as a left -handed athlete. He even hit.
- 1:00:30So just throw that out there for you all who
- 1:00:34wasn't in the 90s for Jim Abbott. So you're going
- 1:00:38LeBron. I don't like your pick. I'm going King
- 1:00:41Griffey Jr. Well, no, and now I feel like a jackass
- 1:00:47because, I mean, I was gonna go and it's, you
- 1:00:51know, I was gonna go with my favorite left -handed
- 1:00:54player ever, left -handed athlete ever. I was
- 1:00:57gonna go with Michael Vick. It was easy. I thought
- 1:01:01that's what you were gonna say. I really wanted
- 1:01:03to, man. Like, I mean, I lived in Georgia when
- 1:01:06he was playing. You know, he was a, you know,
- 1:01:09razzle dazzle with the Falcons. Unbelievable.
- 1:01:11You know, obviously the dog fighting stuff derailed
- 1:01:13things. And then he came back and played for
- 1:01:16our Eagles. So it was an easy pick. But I mean,
- 1:01:20LeBron, LeBron was just better as a pick. I just,
- 1:01:22I just had to go with LeBron. Yeah. I just tried
- 1:01:25to get one. You just try, you just tried to add
- 1:01:28one more category for LeBron over Jordan. That's
- 1:01:31all. No, I mean, listen, if Jordan was left handed,
- 1:01:33he would have gotten a pick. But I mean, Jordan,
- 1:01:37I mean, and listen, I'm pretty sure Jordan had
- 1:01:38a left, but I mean - Jordan played, I think he
- 1:01:41played quarters left -handed. Yeah. I know he
- 1:01:45shot some free throws left -handed. Yeah. I've
- 1:01:47seen that. Yeah. I know he switched hands midair.
- 1:01:51That's all I know. He did that. Yeah, he did.
- 1:01:55That's good stuff though. Yeah. All right. So
- 1:01:58that's all. That's all the Goat Talk for today.
