- 0:22If the walls of certain homes could speak, some of the stories
- 0:26they would tell would more than likely shock and amaze us, or
- 0:31perhaps repulse and terrify us instead.
- 0:36This is one such story. That if a.
- 0:38House could tell its own tale. It would certainly be one we
- 0:42would never forget. A family moves to the country in
- 0:46search of peace, but those dreams are soon shattered by
- 0:50supernatural terror. Something evil lurks within the
- 0:54woods outside of their home, and this evil begins to stalk and
- 0:59wreak havoc upon everyone that dwells within the home.
- 1:03Can they save themselves before it's too late?
- 1:07This is the untold story of the haunted Hinsdale House, also
- 1:11known as the Dandy House, and the entities that infested it.
- 1:23Hinsdale, NY, A small town with a rustic and rural charm, tucked
- 1:29deep into the countryside and far away from the crime,
- 1:33concrete and smog of New York City.
- 1:37Instead of gazing at skyscrapers, they would rather
- 1:40gaze at the surrounding mountains covered in dense
- 1:43foliage. But these mountains and their
- 1:46surrounding woods harbor many secrets and have many stories to
- 1:52tell. This is just one of them.
- 1:55The years 1970 and the Dandy family is in pursuit of their
- 2:01American dream. After years of vacationing to
- 2:04Hinsdale and the surrounding areas to catch a break from
- 2:08their fast-paced life in Buffalo, they finally reached a
- 2:12point where they can turn their vacation into their daily life.
- 2:17Seeking their own rural paradise, they come across a
- 2:20listing for a home that seems idyllic for their family and its
- 2:25needs. Clara Dandy, the mother of the
- 2:28family, believed that they all got along so much better in the
- 2:32country, like it had some form of redemption qualities about it
- 2:37that seemed to rejuvenate their spirits and their relationships.
- 2:42As they wind their way through the countryside, they lay eyes
- 2:45on the home for the first time. They are not only taken aback by
- 2:49the beauty and the sheer size of the house, but that it sat upon
- 2:548 acres of land surrounded by dense and breathtaking woods.
- 2:59Clara would describe her feelings about first seeing the
- 3:02house as being overcome with a deep sense of peace.
- 3:06It was like I had finally come home after years of being
- 3:09elsewhere. And the air, the air was like
- 3:12breathing champagne. It was wonderful.
- 3:16The home is over 100 years old and still had most of the
- 3:20original and ornate woodwork intact.
- 3:23It just seemed to emanate charm and elegance.
- 3:27As the children explored the nearby woods, Mr. and Missus
- 3:31Dandy continued their tour, but when they were being shown the
- 3:35storage space underneath the stairs, the door was initially
- 3:39stuck, but after some elbow grease from Mr. Dandy, they were
- 3:44finally able to get it open. It revealed A dusty space of
- 3:48sorts with a fireplace, the one that didn't seem to fit the
- 3:53feeling of the house at all. Clara would describe her
- 3:56feelings towards the space like this.
- 3:59I wasn't sure why, but I felt very uneasy when we opened up
- 4:03the storage space. I couldn't put my finger on it,
- 4:07but it was dark and desolate, not at all like the rest of the
- 4:12house. But she quickly would dismiss
- 4:15these feelings, attributing the creepy factor to her city
- 4:18upbringing and the fact that they didn't have storage rooms
- 4:22like that where she was from. After closing the space and
- 4:26continuing to evaluate their opportunity, the feelings of
- 4:30peace would return and the dandies decide that they can't
- 4:34resist the charm of this rustic 100 year old home, so they
- 4:38decide to purchase it once things are squared away.
- 4:42Several months later they move in to start their new rural
- 4:46existence. On move in day, Claire's brother
- 4:50decided to lend a helping hand and had begun to move things in
- 4:54hours before the family was able to arrive.
- 4:57When loading in a box of belongings, as he opened the
- 5:01door he was greeted by a flurry of insects.
- 5:05Both bees and flies pelted him in his face, rushing past them
- 5:11and then unloading the box onto the floor in the main room.
- 5:14He was startled to see hundreds of dead bees scattered all over
- 5:18the floor, and even more startled to see hundreds still
- 5:23alive encoding the windows. It was still cold during this
- 5:28time of year and although he too wasn't from the country, he
- 5:32found it rather odd that there would be any kind of infestation
- 5:36at this time. When his sister and her family
- 5:39finally arrive, he greets her with the news and in order to
- 5:43continue with the move in, they have to call an exterminator.
- 5:47Upon his arrival, he too confirms the oddity of the
- 5:51situation. He said that he had never seen
- 5:54so many bees and flies in one spot in a home, and given this
- 5:58time of year, it was not normal for them to swarm or infest
- 6:02anything during this time. It takes some time, but after he
- 6:07finishes clearing them out, the family is finally able to get
- 6:11moved in. As time progresses, things seem
- 6:15to fit the dreams they had for moving there in the 1st place.
- 6:18The family finally seems at peace.
- 6:21They were getting along better and enjoying each other's
- 6:24company. A far departure from their city
- 6:27life in Buffalo. But as the old adage goes, if it
- 6:31seems too good to be. True it is.
- 6:35A few weeks into living in what they believed was going to be
- 6:39their rural paradise, their son Mike has met and made friends
- 6:44with a nearby neighbor. Together, they begin to explore
- 6:47the woods surrounding the Dandy property.
- 6:50As the two navigate the forest, they're startled when they hear
- 6:54the crunching of leaves directly in front of them.
- 6:58Stopping frozen in their tracks and fearing that it could be a
- 7:02bear, they take refuge behind a large tree and sneak glimpses
- 7:07from round its sides to figure out just what it could be.
- 7:11To their shock, they spot a boy not much older than them
- 7:16carrying a rifle and walking in the path ahead.
- 7:20Yelling at the boy that this is private property and wanting to
- 7:24know what he was doing there, they run towards him and try to
- 7:27catch up to him. They again freeze in their
- 7:30tracks when they notice that not only is the boy transparent the
- 7:34closer they get, but half of his head is missing.
- 7:40As the figure continues to walk and taking deep breaths, they
- 7:44slowly continue to follow him. The three approach a small lake.
- 7:50Within the blink of an eye, the boy vanishes.
- 7:54Mike and his friend are at a loss for words and have no
- 7:58explanation for what they saw. They quickly rush back to the
- 8:02Dandy house as fast as they can to tell anyone who will listen
- 8:06to them. They soon make contact with
- 8:09Clara and explain to her what took place, but she's quick to
- 8:13dismiss their experience as nothing more than overactive
- 8:17imaginations. Another several weeks pass by
- 8:22and Clara has all but forgotten about what her son had told her.
- 8:26She's now walking the family dog, Madison, in the woods for
- 8:30some fresh air and exercise. As they get deeper into the
- 8:34forest, Clara starts to hear what can only be described as
- 8:39chanting. As she stops to listen, it
- 8:43sounds eerie and disembodied, as if the sound is all around her
- 8:49but has no true origin. It's at this time that Madison
- 8:54begins growling and barking. The longer she seems to focus on
- 8:59the chanting, the louder it seems to become.
- 9:03Madison by this point is losing her mind and breaks free from a
- 9:08distracted Clara and bolts in the direction of their home.
- 9:12Clara chases her down and she finally stops running when she
- 9:16makes it to the front door of their estate.
- 9:19After taking a moment to collect herself, Clara then calls her
- 9:23husband, who, like she was to her son, was quick to dismiss
- 9:27her feelings, thinking that she just had to adjust to rural life
- 9:32and wasn't used to it being so different from their life in the
- 9:35city. Frustrated and worried now about
- 9:38what the chanting could have been, Clara talks with her son
- 9:42about her experience while she prepares dinner for the family.
- 9:46Mike thinks that it could have been some campers at a nearby
- 9:49campground not too far from where their property line ends
- 9:53that could have been the cause of the strange sounds.
- 9:56To try and put his mother at ease, he and his friend Matt
- 9:59once again take to the woods to explore this possibility.
- 10:03As they venture further into the woods to lookout point towards
- 10:07the campsite, they see nothing. There are no signs of any
- 10:11campers that could be nearby enough to have caused such a
- 10:15noise. Even more perplexed now that
- 10:19there was no explanation, the boys start to make their way
- 10:22back to the house when suddenly they hear what sounds like an
- 10:27axe studying into a tree right next to them, unsure of what
- 10:32that noise could have been. Before they could even begin to
- 10:35ponder or investigate, they hear a woman screaming to their left.
- 10:41This frightens them so bad that the two young men run as fast as
- 10:45they can all the way back to the Dandy's home.
- 10:48When they arrive, Mike is truly scared this time.
- 10:53He has no way of explaining his mother's experience or any of
- 10:57his own either. Upon relaying this information
- 11:01to Clara, both of them are left beside themselves now with a
- 11:06chill up both of their spines. But these weird events thus far
- 11:11would only intensify as the sands of time continue to
- 11:15trickle into the outer class. It has now been months since the
- 11:20initial experiences, and besides the oddities they were, the
- 11:25family's life continues to be great.
- 11:28This distance from the experiences only makes them ever
- 11:32easier to dismiss in the minds of Clara and M1 Day, Phil or Mr.
- 11:39Dandy decides to take the children, Mike and Tina, into
- 11:43Buffalo for the day to get some errands done.
- 11:47Mostly being a homebody, Clara decides to forgo the trip with
- 11:50her family and relax at home reading her latest book instead.
- 11:56When her family departs, Clara finds herself curled up on the
- 12:00couch and immersed in her latest story as a warm breeze drifts
- 12:05through the open. Windows of the house as.
- 12:08She reads page to page. She is suddenly startled when
- 12:12the window closest to her slams shut.
- 12:16Upon investigating, it makes no sense to her because the breeze
- 12:20was light, not forceful at all, and their windows were fairly
- 12:25new, which made it all the stranger.
- 12:29But as she always does, she dismisses the happening as
- 12:33nothing more than a weird coincidence and heads back to
- 12:36her book. Several nights later, as Mike
- 12:40lay asleep in his bed, he's suddenly woken up when a nearby
- 12:45box of a chess game drops onto his chest.
- 12:49The storage shelf is directly above his head.
- 12:52So opening his. Eyes, he glances up to see if
- 12:56perhaps it could have been hanging too far off the edge,
- 12:59causing it to fall, and to his shock, he begins to see several
- 13:04more boxes slowly shifting towards the edge by themselves.
- 13:11The lowest one then suddenly flies out from the rest and
- 13:15smacks him in the chest. Terrified, he sits up, trying to
- 13:20catch his breath. He has no way of explaining how
- 13:24the lowest box could be pulled and thrown with such force
- 13:28without bringing the rest of the boxes with it.
- 13:31As if someone or something had grabbed and thrown it by a will
- 13:37of its own. Calling out to his mom in the
- 13:40darkness, she soon arrives in the doorway of his room.
- 13:44Being a very science and logic minded person, Mike has no way
- 13:49to explain what has happened. Examining the pile, Clara too is
- 13:54perplexed and becomes just as scared when another box from a
- 13:58different pile flies across the room, causing both of them to
- 14:03scream in terror and run out as fast as possible.
- 14:08Trying to make sense of what was taking place, Clara fears that
- 14:12whatever could be lurking in the woods has been stalking her
- 14:16family and has slowly but surely, like a malignant stain,
- 14:22invaded her home. As her fears turned into a
- 14:26revelation, Claire decides to reach out to a local priest for
- 14:31help, hoping her faith will help her come up with some answers
- 14:35and better yet, some solutions. She speaks with a priest named
- 14:40Father Alphonsus at the University of Saint Bonaventure.
- 14:45He believes that the activity could be a poltergeist, but
- 14:49given the intelligent nature of how it seemed to be behaving,
- 14:53Clara has her doubts but nonetheless wants an expert's
- 14:57opinion and assistance. So arrangements are made for the
- 15:02Father to come out and bless the home, and after several days, he
- 15:07arrives. On April 13th, 1975, the
- 15:13cleansing begins. As the family and the priest
- 15:17were all gathered together, and as he began to speak, a series
- 15:22of horrible wailing and moaning noises began to fill the home as
- 15:28if the house itself was crying. The scent of burning matter also
- 15:34quickly enveloped the house. The activity reached a fever
- 15:38pitch when the priest opened and began to pray over the crawl
- 15:43space that was underneath the stairs.
- 15:46But after this, a blissful silence overtook them all.
- 15:51It was if whatever entities that dwelled within the walls of the
- 15:54dandies home had finally been evicted.
- 15:59Within time, the father gathered his things, exchanged
- 16:03pleasantries and departed for the evening.
- 16:07The family now believed that their darkest days were behind
- 16:10them, and for all intents and purposes, that seemed to be the
- 16:14case. But as if to mock the Holy
- 16:17Trinity itself, three months later to the day, all hell would
- 16:23break loose once again. That night, while her husband is
- 16:28away on a business trip, Clara finds herself woken up out of a
- 16:32dead sleep by a series of knocks coming from inside the walls.
- 16:38The knocks themselves are soon accompanied with whispers from
- 16:43someone that she can't see. As she apprehensively makes her
- 16:47way from her room and slowly down the stairs headed towards
- 16:51the main level, the apparition of a young girl begins to walk
- 16:56by the stairs. She slowly makes her way to the
- 17:00crawl space, opens the door and closes it behind her.
- 17:06Clara's baffled at the sight, after gathering up her courage
- 17:11she too makes her way fully down the stairs into the crawl space
- 17:16and after a moment of bracing herself she opens the door and
- 17:21going to be met with nothing. Claire then makes her way to her
- 17:27daughter Tina's room to make sure it somehow wasn't her and
- 17:31perhaps her nerves were just on edge.
- 17:34But after opening her door, she finds her fast asleep in her bed
- 17:39with no signs that she had been awake for some time.
- 17:43The following morning, while the rest of her family is still
- 17:46asleep, Tina wakes up to begin her day as she feeds her pet
- 17:52bird in its cage and begins to brush her.
- 17:54Hair in her Oval. Mirror.
- 17:56She notices that her bird isn't doing its usual whistles as she
- 18:01glances. Over at them.
- 18:03She finds it staring into the corner of the room.
- 18:07As Tina glances back up at the mirror, she's met with the
- 18:10apparition of a young girl. Her face is sunk in and her eyes
- 18:17were gone. She screams in terror and just
- 18:21as quickly as it appeared, the apparition disappears.
- 18:27The screams of her daughter startles and quickly summons
- 18:30Clara to her daughter's room. As she consoles Tina, she
- 18:34realizes that the priest's blessings were ineffective.
- 18:39She quickly calls Father Al back and explains what had taken
- 18:43place the previous night and that morning.
- 18:46And although he is busy, he promises to come back as soon as
- 18:50possible and this time to bring a paranormal expert with him as
- 18:55well to help him determine the cause and hopefully find a
- 18:59working solution. He's able to come back the
- 19:02following week. In the meantime, Clara is
- 19:06determined to keep her family calm.
- 19:08If she can control her own emotions, she knows that
- 19:12everything. Else will be OK.
- 19:14As they wait for the priest to return, Clara tries her best to
- 19:18keep her family calm and live some sort of a normal existence.
- 19:24That weekend, her and Phil are watching a movie while Mike and
- 19:28Tina are out with friends. As they enjoy their time
- 19:31together, their happiness is quickly shattered by a huge
- 19:36crashing noise coming from outside of their house.
- 19:40Quickly grabbing a flashlight and running outside to
- 19:43investigate together, they quietly stepped towards where
- 19:47they believed the noise to be originating from.
- 19:50And suddenly they hear it again. But this time, thankfully for
- 19:56them, the origin is not paranormal this time.
- 20:02But several raccoons who happened to be forging through
- 20:04their metal trash cans for something to eat.
- 20:09Relieved for that moment, they start to make their way back to
- 20:12the house when they suddenly see the figure of a young girl in
- 20:17their living room window staring at them as they rush inside.
- 20:22They run up into Tina's room, where they find her incoherent
- 20:28and staring into her Oval mirror.
- 20:30They try to get her attention, but she's entirely unresponsive.
- 20:36Her pale blue eyes are black. Panicking, they shake her and
- 20:42yell her name, not knowing what else to do when she eventually
- 20:46comes back. In that moment and later, Tina
- 20:51will not recall how she got home or what exactly happened.
- 20:56As the family tries to gather themselves from the shock of
- 21:00what had just taken place, they hear movement coming from Mike's
- 21:04room. Phil tells his family not to
- 21:07leave Tina's room. As he rushes to investigate,
- 21:11however, the home phone begins to ring.
- 21:16It's Mike. He's asking if he can stay the
- 21:19night at his friend Randy's house.
- 21:22However, when told what was going on, he quickly tells her
- 21:26that he's coming home to help in any way that he can.
- 21:29Rushing to his car, Randy offers to come with him, to which Mike
- 21:33agrees. Randy would later recount that
- 21:37Mike's hands were sweating and he was shaking, Gripping the
- 21:41steering wheel. He was pale.
- 21:44I asked him what was wrong, and he said that things were
- 21:47happening at the house that he couldn't explain.
- 21:51The boys quickly arrived to find the family in chaos.
- 21:55Phil is prepared to do battle with whatever forces within the
- 21:58house and the girls are staying close to one another, attempting
- 22:03to comfort each other. As they try to determine a
- 22:06course of action, all the lights in the house go out.
- 22:11They then begin to hear banging and scratching coming from the
- 22:16crawl space. Flashlights still in hand, Phil,
- 22:20with the backup of his family, shines the light towards it and
- 22:24begins to make his way towards whatever this thing is.
- 22:29It seems like with each step he takes, the sounds become louder,
- 22:34and after a tense several seconds, he opens the door to
- 22:37the crawl space. Inside, they find that the
- 22:41fireplace that was once there has been completely
- 22:44disassembled. Its bricks have now been stacked
- 22:48in an elaborate pile directly in the middle of the small room.
- 22:53The amount of effort and strength required to perform
- 22:56such a task convinces all of them that whatever they're
- 23:00dealing with is strong, persistent, and perhaps
- 23:04uncleansable. Nonetheless, with their spirits
- 23:08waning, Claire makes a desperate call to Father Al, who agrees to
- 23:13come earlier than originally planned and makes emergency
- 23:16arrangements for himself and his paranormal expert of a friend to
- 23:21come out that night. They arrive as soon as possible.
- 23:26The paranormal expert is a man by the name of Alex Tennis, a
- 23:30well respected paranormal researcher and psychic whose
- 23:35abilities were studied at the American Society of Psychic
- 23:39Research. Together, they make their way to
- 23:42the door of the Dandy House, hoping to help rid this family
- 23:46of whatever seems to be stalking them.
- 23:49After being let in, the family quickly leads the pair to the
- 23:52crawlspace to show them just what they were talking about.
- 23:57Although he was aware that some sort of activity was taking
- 24:00place, Alex had not been given any additional details or
- 24:04information in regards to the home, its history, or
- 24:08happenings. As he steps into the crawlspace
- 24:11room, he begins to have a vision.
- 24:15In his vision, he sees multiple dead bodies stacked within the
- 24:19crawlspace itself. After the vision subsides, Alex
- 24:24begins to explain to the family what he saw.
- 24:27He believed that many had passed away within the home itself,
- 24:31some of natural causes and some of murder.
- 24:35It was his conviction that based on what he saw, that the house
- 24:39used to be a stopping point for a Stagecoach or perhaps some
- 24:43kind of inn where people would stay the night before departing
- 24:47the following morning. It was also his belief that
- 24:50there was a nearby criminal or gang of criminals that would
- 24:54often rob and kill nearby travellers and that perhaps
- 24:58these souls somehow became trapped here when someone passed
- 25:03or was found dead nearby. Being the only stopping point in
- 25:06the area, their bodies would be placed in the crawl space until
- 25:11they could receive a proper burial.
- 25:13It was also his belief that there were seven different
- 25:16spirits that were trapped within the home all together.
- 25:20With this revelation, the family, Alex and the father pray
- 25:25that the trapped spirits within the home find peace and be
- 25:28released so that they may go on to their final destination.
- 25:33Upon the pair's departure, Clara once again has renewed hope.
- 25:38The home, as it did the first time around, seemed to be
- 25:41cleansed and to be more peaceful.
- 25:44Meanwhile, Mike and his friend Randy were skeptical of Alex's
- 25:48conclusions. After he left, they used an old
- 25:52map of the area to trace where he had said the old Stagecoach
- 25:56route was. They did indeed find what they
- 25:59believed to be an old trail that could have been used for such a
- 26:02thing, and the trail passed right by the Dandy home.
- 26:06But during their search, as they were following the trail out and
- 26:10headed back to the house, they experienced strangeness of their
- 26:14own. As they began to trace the
- 26:16trail, they began to see what they described as orbs of light
- 26:20in the nearby trees, and these orbs began to come at them.
- 26:25Randy, having never seen or experienced anything
- 26:29supernatural before, began to have a panic attack upon
- 26:33arriving at the house. They were fortunately able to
- 26:36get him calmed down. By this point it was late in the
- 26:40night and the entire family needed to try and get some form
- 26:43of sleep in order to function the following day.
- 26:47Randy ended up staying the night since he had rode with Mike.
- 26:51Once everyone else was settled down for the night and fast
- 26:54asleep, Clara sat by herself weeping.
- 26:59She felt that her and her family were helpless in the situation
- 27:04and that all efforts have been exhausted and that they needed
- 27:07to move. The only problem was that all
- 27:10their money, every last dime, had been sunk into the house,
- 27:15leaving them stranded. She would continue to
- 27:18contemplate the future and would cry herself to sleep that night.
- 27:23The following morning, as the family began to wake up and
- 27:26start to try and resume some form of normalcy, Mike went
- 27:31ahead and departed with Randy to take him home.
- 27:34Several hours would go by and Mike hadn't returned.
- 27:38Finally, there was a knock on the door.
- 27:41It was a police officer. He informed the family that
- 27:45there had been an accident, that they needed to head to the
- 27:48hospital as soon as possible. Rushing into the car into the
- 27:52hospital, the Dandy family wondered just what had happened.
- 27:56There had been no mention of Randy by the officer at the
- 27:59time. Upon arriving, they were briefed
- 28:03that Mike had lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a
- 28:06nearby ditch. He was now undergoing emergency
- 28:10surgery. He had extensive head injuries,
- 28:14A ruptured spleen that may have to be removed, and that he had
- 28:17lost a very significant amount of blood.
- 28:21As they waited for the outcome of their son's surgery, the
- 28:24Dandies were once again greeted by the officer who had knocked
- 28:27on their door. He explained to them that Randy
- 28:30had indeed been dropped off and that Mike had wrecked on his way
- 28:34back to the Dandy residence, but as he was being loaded into the
- 28:38ambulance, he kept saying that there was another person in the
- 28:41car with him. Although they believed him to be
- 28:44confused on account of his injuries.
- 28:47They went ahead and searched the area nonetheless, but another
- 28:50person was never found. After two weeks of being in a
- 28:55coma, Mike finally wakes up, but unfortunately has no
- 29:00recollection as to what exactly happened to him to cause the
- 29:04accident. Clara, however, believes that
- 29:07whatever presence that's been plugging their lives had to have
- 29:11been responsible for what happened to her son.
- 29:14After months of recovery for Mike and continued paranormal
- 29:18activity within the home, Father Alphonsus would return with Alex
- 29:23one last and final time at Claire's request to try and rid
- 29:28the home of the evil and persistent force that had
- 29:31drained the life out of all of them for years now.
- 29:36However, this time just the Father and Alex would perform
- 29:39the cleansing inside the home themselves.
- 29:43As they moved from room to room, Alex would once again experience
- 29:48multiple visions of the past. His visions would tell him that
- 29:52of the seven spirits who he believed to be within the house,
- 29:571 was that of a young man who had been in some kind of a war
- 30:01or battle near where the property sits now.
- 30:04Another was that of a young girl who had passed from some sort of
- 30:07very painful illness in what was now Tina's room.
- 30:11And there was another spirit that seemed to be keeping
- 30:15herself and others trapped within the house.
- 30:19It was the spirit of a woman who was incredibly angry and
- 30:23resentful. She continued to be possessive,
- 30:27depressive and just as angry and death as she was in life.
- 30:32Refusing to pass on believing what they had identified to be
- 30:36the source of the paranormal activity, Father Al decided to
- 30:40take a different approach to the cleansing itself.
- 30:44Although an exorcism cannot be performed on a place, but rather
- 30:47has to be performed on an individual, the rights
- 30:51themselves could in theory be performed or added to a series
- 30:55of prayers to try and use their strong cleansing powers to clear
- 31:00out a home such as this one. So that's exactly what the
- 31:03Father did. He began to perform the rites of
- 31:06exorcism within the house itself.
- 31:10As the prayers began to exit his lips, varying with intensity as
- 31:15the rights often do, the home began to literally shake, and
- 31:19the horrific moaning and wailing that had made itself present in
- 31:24the very first cleansing seemed to return with a vengeance.
- 31:29Every horrible feeling, banging, knocking and scratching noise
- 31:34that the family had experienced thus far was present and seemed
- 31:38to be magnified. It takes hours, but eventually
- 31:43the rites are finished. As the dust settles, so to
- 31:46speak, the home seems peaceful and blissful, like it did when
- 31:51the family had first visited and decided to buy the home.
- 31:56And again, for three more months, the family lives in
- 31:59peace. But like the persistent force
- 32:02that has manifested itself to be, the haunting begins again.
- 32:08The Dandy family, despite their best efforts, simply cannot take
- 32:12it anymore, decide to cut their losses and move.
- 32:17Unable to find a buyer for their house, they eventually declare
- 32:21bankruptcy. Shortly after this, Phil and
- 32:25Clara would also divorce, bringing a sad and bitter end to
- 32:30what was supposed to be a rural redemption for the Dandy family.
- 32:35However, this wouldn't be the end of the story of the Hensdale
- 32:40house. Eventually, the home would come
- 32:43into the possession of Daniel Klaus, who currently owns it.
- 32:48Daniel's a renowned paranormal investigator and has been
- 32:52involved with the likes of Nick Groff and has made appearances
- 32:56on tons of national TV programs centered around the paranormal
- 33:00over the years. Having been raised in a haunted
- 33:03house, this led to a lifelong fascination with the Paranormal
- 33:08Forum. After years of restoration, it
- 33:11is now available for both investigations and tours and is
- 33:16still considered a very active paranormal portal and is kept
- 33:20open as a paranormal research location.
- 33:23It's even staged in the 1970s period to maintain the integrity
- 33:29of when the hauntings were initially known to have began.
- 33:32But now that we know the back story of the 20th and into the
- 33:3521st century of the Hensdale house, just who owned it, what
- 33:40happened to them and who owns it now, I would like to shift your
- 33:44attention to some of the plausible theories as to what
- 33:48could have caused the haunting. Many theories of what could have
- 33:51caused the haunting have been formed over the years by the
- 33:54many people who have researched and have been interested in the
- 33:58case. One theory is that the home was
- 34:01built on top of an Indian burial mound.
- 34:03This of course could have disturbed the spirits of the
- 34:06natives that rested within the land, and although tribes who
- 34:10used this method of burial were present in the area back in
- 34:13history, there's little to no evidence to support this claim.
- 34:18But perhaps any evidence by this point could have long since been
- 34:22lost to the sands of time or could have been removed when the
- 34:25home was initially built. Another theory is that the home
- 34:30was at one point used as a Stagecoach in and passer bys
- 34:34were murdered either near or within the home itself, leading
- 34:38to their spirits being trapped within the home or on its land.
- 34:42Although there is evidence that a Stagecoach route did run very
- 34:46close to the home, there isn't direct evidence that the house
- 34:50itself was used as an inn, but it is possible murders also did
- 34:55take place in or around the area in which the home is now
- 34:58located, which could lend credence to the theories of
- 35:01criminals robbing and murdering people along the Stagecoach
- 35:05route. An old family from the area that
- 35:08used to own the home with the last name of McMahon also lends
- 35:12credence to the home being used as an inn at some point.
- 35:16The now past grandfather of the family used to tell stories of a
- 35:21road that passed by the house where stagecoaches travelled.
- 35:26Another theory is that one or several of the spirits were
- 35:29trapped as a result of hangings that took place there.
- 35:33The now famous hanging tree that sits near the residence was
- 35:37indeed used for executions for a time.
- 35:41Most famously, it seems, was the execution of a woman named
- 35:45Elizabeth. Elizabeth was pregnant.
- 35:49Could this perhaps be the spirit of the woman who was angry and
- 35:53refusing to leave? Other events, such as the
- 35:57homicide that took place in the year 2000 near the house, as
- 36:01well as a buzz saw incident that led to a boy's death, have led
- 36:05many to believe that whatever haunts the area could indeed
- 36:10still be there and influencing our world.
- 36:14It's important in my opinion to try and get the story and the
- 36:17facts as straight as possible, not only for the current owners
- 36:21benefit, but for the dandies who have suffered greatly as a
- 36:25result of their story becoming public, especially towards the
- 36:29end of their time at the property.
- 36:31As word got out that something strange was taking place at the
- 36:34house, a local paper ended up reaching out to the dandies for
- 36:38a statement. Thinking that they were
- 36:40accepting an opportunity for additional outside help, they
- 36:44gave their story only to be met with ridicule from the paper,
- 36:48which in turn led to ridicule from the public and nearby
- 36:52residents. Which this combined with the
- 36:54paranormal torment they were experiencing along with then
- 36:58having to file bankruptcy and then later divorce.
- 37:02In my opinion, they suffered greatly and did not benefit from
- 37:06the story especially during that time.
- 37:10The only benefit I've seen could be from Clara Miller, formerly
- 37:14Clara Dandy, who would eventually write a book known as
- 37:18Echoes of a Haunting. But to be fair, if I experienced
- 37:22even a portion of what she did, I would eventually write a book
- 37:25to catalog what happened as well.
- 37:28Not only for some monetary benefit, of course, but for my
- 37:31own sanity really. So as I've began to mention and
- 37:36will continue to mention again in the future, if you ever
- 37:39encounter anyone mentioned in this video or any of my other
- 37:43videos, whether it be in person or online, please be respectful
- 37:48of them and their experiences and do not ever harass anyone.
- 37:53And if you find yourself seemingly handed an opportunity
- 37:57that seems too good to be true the answer to your prayers, it's
- 38:02more than likely not the case. It could be a nightmare waiting
- 38:06to happen. It could be a haunted home
- 38:09infested with entities sitting. And waiting for the perfect
- 38:13victim. Don't let it be you.
- 38:17Could an item, if given enough energy, devotion and focus,
- 38:23begin to take on a life of its own?
- 38:25Could it begin to exhibit human like characteristics as if it
- 38:30has been imbued with or contains some kind of soul or entity
- 38:34inside of it? This act of magic has been
- 38:37practiced by multiple religions and.
- 38:40Cults. Throughout the ages.
- 38:42This is just one very strange example that it could indeed be
- 38:46possible. After a gracious gift was placed
- 38:49into the arms of a little girl, tragedy would strike and what
- 38:54follows would continue to haunt the family, the citizens of the
- 38:58village, and would soon cross far beyond the barriers of land
- 39:03and sea. This is the untold story of
- 39:06Akiku, the haunted Japanese doll and the bizarre paranormal force
- 39:13that possessed it. Japan is a very mystical and
- 39:24spiritual place, a place where the souls of the past seem to
- 39:29interact with the living. Such places where the spiritual
- 39:34energy seems to be most visible is throughout many of Japan's
- 39:38spiritual temples, home to many religions, the two main ones
- 39:43being Buddhism and Shintoism. Thousands of temples exist all
- 39:48over the country, but one in particular houses a spiritual
- 39:53artifact that has a tragic back story and an even more
- 39:57terrifying story that continues to be written to this day.
- 40:02Located in Hokkaido, Japan at the Menenji Buddhist Temple.
- 40:07Is a doll with a bizarre and tragic back story.
- 40:10Indeed, although there are several origin stories of how
- 40:14the doll came to be and how the temple became its final living
- 40:18space, so to speak, all of them have most of the main details in
- 40:23common. Therefore, I'll be telling the
- 40:26most agreed upon origin story to try and be as true to the legend
- 40:31as I can. The years 1918 in Hokkaido,
- 40:35Japan and a 17 year old boy by the name of Ikiki Suzuki is in
- 40:41search of a gift for his little sister's birthday.
- 40:45As he pursues the different vendors and small shops,
- 40:49something soon catches his attention and one of the store
- 40:53windows. He spots a small, childlike doll
- 40:57wearing a traditional Japanese kimono.
- 41:00Knowing that he had finally found something his sister will
- 41:03love, the Kiki quickly purchases the doll and makes his way back
- 41:08home through the countryside. As the family celebrates their
- 41:12little girl's birthday, Okiku is presented with the doll and
- 41:17almost immediately, as soon as her eyes meet hers, she falls in
- 41:22love with it. The two from this point, become
- 41:25inseparable. Wherever Okiku is, her doll is
- 41:29right by her side. She Combs her hair, bathes her,
- 41:34dresses her and treats her as if she was her little sister.
- 41:38The two even share meals and sleep side by side.
- 41:43The joy that the doll brought a Kiku must have filled Ekiki's
- 41:46heart with such happiness. But soon, that happiness would
- 41:51change to tragedy. One hot day, as the little girl
- 41:56played outside with her doll, she was bitten by a mosquito.
- 42:00This benign insect by it would soon manifest itself into a
- 42:04horrible case of malaria. Although the family did
- 42:08everything they could possibly do, Okiku would pass away scared
- 42:14and gasping for air as she clutched her special doll all
- 42:18the way until the moment she took her last breath devastated
- 42:23the Suzuki's plan to have their little.
- 42:25Girl buried with. The doll since she loved it so
- 42:27much, but unfortunately, due to either governmental or religious
- 42:32oversight at the time, this wasn't an option.
- 42:36Instead, after they had laid a kiku to rest, the doll would be
- 42:40placed on a small family shrine located within the living
- 42:43quarters of their home as a tribute of sorts to their late
- 42:48daughter and their love for her. But shortly after the doll was
- 42:52placed on the shrine, very strange things began to happen.
- 42:57A Kiki, upon walking past the shrine one day, noticed that the
- 43:00doll's hair seemed significantly longer than what it had been
- 43:04when it was placed there. The hair which was originally
- 43:08shoulders length on the doll itself and black was now
- 43:12overgrown with differing shades of brown hair also coming
- 43:16through and splitting at the ends.
- 43:19Finding this bizarre to say the least, he brought the discovery
- 43:23to his parents attention and unsure of what else to do, they
- 43:27trimmed the dolls hair as the days came and when the family
- 43:32began to have distressing dreams at night of their departed
- 43:35Okiku. Sometimes she would be scared
- 43:38and alone in the darkness, calling out to them, only being
- 43:42recognized by her voice. Other times she would blame them
- 43:47for what happened to. Her.
- 43:49Each member of the family at differing times had these
- 43:52dreams, and they would soon lead all of them to believe that
- 43:56Akiku's soul wasn't peacefully resting.
- 43:59These disturbing dreams soon became all the stranger when the
- 44:03doll, which they began to refer to as Akiku and their daughter's
- 44:08honor, would appear by their bedsides following these
- 44:12nightmares. One such incident involved the
- 44:16father of the family waking up in a cold sweat only to be met
- 44:20face to face with a blank and lifeless stare of the doll.
- 44:27Unsure of what was taking place, the Suzuki's turn to their
- 44:31faith. After contacting a local
- 44:33Buddhist priest and having a cleansing ritual be performed on
- 44:37their home and the doll, the activity seemed to grow and
- 44:42become stronger. Accompanying their ever frequent
- 44:45nightmares and random movements of the doll, the chilling events
- 44:50grew into full blown spiritual manifestations during their
- 44:54waking life. They soon began to hear banging
- 44:57noises all throughout the house and the whispers of a little
- 45:01girl. Strange disembodied voices
- 45:05varying from high pitched like those of a child to the low
- 45:09groans of something unexplainable began to be heard.
- 45:14Their lights began to flicker on and off, and the paranormal
- 45:18activity seemed to happen more frequently as the calendar
- 45:22ticked closer to the birth and death dates of Akiku.
- 45:28These strange and terrifying happenings would continue over
- 45:31the course of the next 20 years, with multiple religious, priests
- 45:36and shamans being contacted and all coming to the same
- 45:40conclusion that after the cleansings failed time and time
- 45:43again, that the restless spirit of Akiku now inhabited the doll
- 45:48she once loved so much. Finally needing a major change
- 45:53and unable to deal with the ever intensifying spiritual presence
- 45:58that seemed to haunt their home, the Suzuki's relocated to a
- 46:02different district. Believing the doll to be the
- 46:05source of their various ailments and emotional torture that they
- 46:09had endured over the last two decades, they had no desire to
- 46:13take it with them. The family had reached the
- 46:15conclusion that if their daughter's soul wasn't at peace,
- 46:19what could perhaps be helping to fuel Akiku's power or magic was
- 46:24the close proximity of her grave to their home where the doll
- 46:28resided. So in order to distance the doll
- 46:31from the grave, the family approached the Meninge Buddhist
- 46:34Temple in Hokkaido, and over the years the dolls reputation for
- 46:39being haunted had spread throughout the community and
- 46:43indeed the majority of the country.
- 46:45This was more than likely due to the various interactions between
- 46:48the spiritual community and the Suzuki family finding the doll
- 46:53to be mesmerizing and possibly a unique opportunity to commute
- 46:58and interact with the dead. If the stories were true, the
- 47:01leaders and priests of the Meninge Temple agreed to home
- 47:05Okiku permanently. As with many legends, we find
- 47:09lots of details to be exaggerated over time and
- 47:13perhaps some of the details to not be true at all.
- 47:16And this is what the priests were originally thinking, that
- 47:20perhaps due to grief, the family was dealing with other spiritual
- 47:24ailments perhaps unrelated to the doll, or causing the doll to
- 47:28be a vessel of sorts for restless spirits.
- 47:32However, as the years came and when as Akiku now called the
- 47:36temple her home, they began to slowly but surely experience the
- 47:41same strangeness the Suzuki's had.
- 47:44For all of those years. Akiku's hair continued to grow
- 47:49and this baffled the priests. They would eventually have the
- 47:52hair trimmed and tested, and the hair was said to belong to a
- 47:57little girl. They found that the entity
- 48:00seemed to be appeased when her hair was trimmed and combed, and
- 48:04this led to less activity for a time.
- 48:07But the same activity? The knocking, banging, and
- 48:11disembodied voices which soon plagued the temple as well.
- 48:16No, Kiku's power only seemed to grow.
- 48:19Any priest who seemed skeptical of the doll or attempted to
- 48:23cleanse it themselves soon had their dreams haunted as well,
- 48:28turning their sleep into restless fits.
- 48:31Their homes and rooms soon also began to manifest the very same
- 48:36activity that the temple was now exhibiting.
- 48:39With no remedy seeming to work, the leaders turned to
- 48:42appeasement instead, hoping that gestures of goodwill would keep
- 48:47the entity at Bay. As years turn to decades, and as
- 48:51we've come into the 21st century, the priests of multiple
- 48:55generations now have overseen and cared for the Dahl known as
- 49:00Akiku. And though some of the more
- 49:02violent activity has faded, the general consensus is that she is
- 49:07now just as powerful as she was. Or is perhaps.
- 49:10More powerful as she's continued to age, it seems like as the
- 49:15more her fame and notoriety grows, the more visitors she
- 49:19has, the stronger she becomes. She continues to invade the
- 49:24dreams of those who come to visit her, and her hair is
- 49:28growing faster and more frayed. She's said to drive tourists mad
- 49:33who doubt her, with many people even reporting that besides
- 49:37seeing her strange hair and feeling a malevolent presence
- 49:41when visiting her, they've also had her stalk and appear in
- 49:45their dreams. Some more disturbing and recent
- 49:48reports have even suggested that her mouth is slowly opening and
- 49:53that if you dare to appear inside of it, you may just catch
- 49:56a glimpse of baby like teeth sprouting from her porcelain
- 50:00gums. As if whoever or whatever she is
- 50:05is slowly turning to flesh and bone.
- 50:09The paranormal displays of her power continue to occur as well.
- 50:14Her permanent home, located within the menaging temple, is
- 50:17her own private shrine where she sits in a small wooden box on
- 50:21display. It is here that she watches and
- 50:25waits for anyone and everyone who dares to play with fire and
- 50:31invoke the power of the entity known as a Kiku.
- 50:36But what are your thoughts? Was a Kiku the girl trapped
- 50:39inside of the doll? In my opinion, although her
- 50:43spirit would be much older now, at the time of her death she was
- 50:47either close to or was three years old, and no person at that
- 50:51age is capable of true malice to the point to where she would
- 50:55become aware enough to begin to blame her parents and then
- 50:59torment them for decades to come as children.
- 51:03Our parents or our family? Our entire world.
- 51:07So I find it incredibly difficult to think that these
- 51:10bizarre happenings were the result of her soul being
- 51:13restless and imbuing the doll. What I find more likely, and all
- 51:18the more interesting really, is the thought of invocation or the
- 51:22imbuing of the doll. Like a conduit or a vessel of
- 51:26sorts. Akiku, the girl was, as they
- 51:29said, inseparable from this doll.
- 51:32She fed it, bathed it, took naps with it, and everything else a
- 51:37small child would do with that wonderful imagination that they
- 51:40have. But could all of this dedication
- 51:43and focus accompanied with the tragedy that took place allow
- 51:47for a portal to open for an entity, whether non human or a
- 51:52restless human spirit to inhabit the doll?
- 51:56And by non human I mean a demon. This would make sense to me.
- 52:01Something that enjoys and grows more powerful off of pain and
- 52:04misfortune or the emotional torment of others.
- 52:08As it causes the pain, it feeds off of it and grows ever
- 52:12stronger. This would not only explain the
- 52:15malevolent manifestations of whatever entity is present, but
- 52:19would also explain the still present force and the alleged
- 52:23ever growing power of it. And depending on the entity's
- 52:26strength, it could also explain why the cleansings thus far have
- 52:30failed. However, if you find yourself
- 52:34taking a trip to Japan anytime soon, or you happen to call
- 52:38Japan home if you find yourself in Hokkaido, you may want to
- 52:42steer clear of the Menajin Temple, because if you don't,
- 52:46the entity that inhabits the doll known as a Kiku may just
- 52:51use you as its next feeding source.
- 52:54Where it'll begin to plague your dreams, making you twist and
- 52:59turn, sweat and fear as it grows ever stronger and attempts to
- 53:06cross from its world into ours, making our plane of existence
- 53:12its permanent residence. An unsuspecting family finds
- 53:17what they believe to be the perfect home.
- 53:20But underneath the facade of this charming farmhouse, there
- 53:24is a sinister force, dark as the abyss.
- 53:29Lying underneath the heavy fog upon the land, there lies
- 53:33generations of graves. These graves could hold the key
- 53:37to solving their paranormal nightmare.
- 53:41This is the untold story of the old Arnold Estate, also known as
- 53:46The Conjuring House, and the demonic forces that dwell within
- 53:51it. Harrisville, RI The small town
- 54:10located on America's East Coast with just a population of an
- 54:15estimated 1800 people. Like many towns across the
- 54:18country, you could easily overlook this one at face value.
- 54:24But it's when we take a deeper. Look.
- 54:26We discover that this little town has a dark history.
- 54:31Its story is filled with death, from murders to drownings and
- 54:36much more. With all these unfortunate
- 54:39happenings in mind, it makes one beg the question, could there be
- 54:43something evil that stalks this place?
- 54:47Something that feeds upon suffering and misery?
- 54:50Perhaps there is, and perhaps that is what contributed to the
- 54:55creation of the following story. It all starts in Central Falls,
- 55:00RI in 1970, where the Peron family, which consisted of
- 55:07mother Carolyn, father Roger, and their five daughters Andrea,
- 55:12Nancy, Christine, Cynthia and April, we're all living a
- 55:17relatively normal life. Among things like school, work
- 55:23and outdoor play. Nothing seemed quite out of the
- 55:27ordinary, yet the children had been gifted a puppy with an
- 55:33exceptionally unique personality and out of the ether.
- 55:37A name came to mind when they were naming her Bathsheba.
- 55:43A unique dog with a unique name. She was fond of all the
- 55:47children, but especially Andrea, Now 10 years old.
- 55:52She would often take Bathsheba for walks around their suburban
- 55:56neighborhood. However, on one of those walks,
- 56:00tragedy would strike and would seemingly set in motion a
- 56:04snowball effect that would follow the family for years to
- 56:07come. While Andrea had the puppy out
- 56:11in the neighborhood, her sisters had come up from playing outside
- 56:15and decided to make the walk a group activity.
- 56:19All seemed fine until a car full of teenagers drove by at an
- 56:23incredibly high rate of speed. They seemed to be yelling
- 56:27something in unison and had brightly colored tassels hanging
- 56:31out of their windows. Bathsheba was an obedient dog,
- 56:36but the flailing and bright colored streamers caught her
- 56:39attention. And in an instant.
- 56:42She broke loose from Andrea and bolted towards the vehicle.
- 56:48The shocked girls then watched the car miss her by mere inches
- 56:51as she made her way safely across the road.
- 56:55But being the good dog that she was, upon hearing Andrea call
- 56:59out to her again, she began to run back to them and in the
- 57:04blink of an eye, she was struck by another vehicle, an elderly
- 57:09couple that never even saw her. Her leash had gotten caught
- 57:13around one of the wheels of their car when they hit her and
- 57:17she was suffering immensely. A nearby neighbor called the
- 57:21police and upon removing the children from the scene, they
- 57:25were traumatized further as they heard the gunshot that ended the
- 57:29poor animal's life. The entire family now held a
- 57:34deep despair at the tragedy that had taken place.
- 57:38She wasn't just a pet, she was a member of the family.
- 57:41And. There was now an unspoken pain
- 57:44that haunted them. The family had planned a
- 57:47vacation months prior and hoped that a break from their normal
- 57:51routine would help everyone. So they went.
- 57:56And soon some of their sadness turned to joy as the family
- 58:00experienced hotel swimming pools, ice cream and shopping.
- 58:05But this joy would too be short lived.
- 58:09The family also had four cats and upon returning to their home
- 58:14with this new found sense of well-being, they would endure
- 58:18even more trauma. They would discover that almost
- 58:22all of their cats. Had been viciously killed by
- 58:25neighborhood kids while they were gone.
- 58:28Several had every bone in their bodies broken with a baseball
- 58:32bat. Upon this horrific discovery,
- 58:36their father Roger rushed inside the house to call the police,
- 58:41only to find their home absolutely ransacked as well.
- 58:45Furniture was upside down, mirrors and windows broken, all
- 58:51of their provisions left to spoil from their tipped over
- 58:54fridge, and their carpet was doused in motor oil.
- 58:59It would later be discovered that two of their cats were
- 59:02killed by the group of the kids. One would never be seen again
- 59:06and the other had been seriously beaten but would survive.
- 59:12Although the neighborhood was known for angsty teenagers and
- 59:15roughhousing kids, the family wondered how could these kids
- 59:19conduct such evil? Did the devil's foot soldiers
- 59:23know no bounds? A police report was filed and it
- 59:27was shortly uncovered that the demon seed who had LED these
- 59:31awful actions was their 12 year old neighbor.
- 59:34The young man was seemingly a born criminal.
- 59:38Upon being confronted, the boy's mother covered for her son and
- 59:43despite their best efforts due to lack of evidence.
- 59:46Nothing much would come of the report with the police, but
- 59:50Andrea would have her revenge. She had yet to come to terms
- 59:55with her precious Bathsheba's death, and now this, the rage
- 1:00:00inside of her built. After some thorough planning,
- 1:00:04she attacked the boy who was responsible, beating him
- 1:00:08ferociously, breaking his nose, blackening his eyes until she
- 1:00:14was pried off by a nearby neighbor.
- 1:00:17And told to go home. All this wouldn't bring her
- 1:00:20animals back, but it felt justified to the young girl
- 1:00:24given what the boy had done. But these antics of sadness,
- 1:00:29hostility, and rage would soon manifest into something much
- 1:00:34darker. Ever since their home was
- 1:00:37ransacked, Carolyn had wanted to move, but knowing they weren't
- 1:00:42in a financial state to do so, they had little to no choice
- 1:00:46other than to stay. So she kept an ever watchful eye
- 1:00:50on her children, letting them out of the house rarely and
- 1:00:54mostly under her supervision. Given the prior events, she
- 1:00:58wanted them raised by wild nature, not wild beasts.
- 1:01:04Shortly after this time, Roger had prepared to depart for a
- 1:01:07business trip which was to last several days.
- 1:01:11Even amidst the turmoil of the current events, he still had to
- 1:01:15provide for his large family. And while his family was just
- 1:01:19waking up that morning, as he and his wife Carolyn enjoyed
- 1:01:23their morning cup of coffee, they were suddenly startled by
- 1:01:27the sound of a large explosion in their front yard, like
- 1:01:31someone had fired a cannon towards their house.
- 1:01:35Alarmed, they raced outside to discover what had happened.
- 1:01:40Shortly after purchasing their humble home, Carolyn had built a
- 1:01:45rock garden of sorts at the entrance of their driveway.
- 1:01:49Her friends often teased her that it's centerpiece resembled
- 1:01:53a tombstone without the inscription of the dearly
- 1:01:56departed. Well to the family shock, their
- 1:02:01neighbor from across the street had started his truck that
- 1:02:04morning and had suffered a major heart attack and had died at the
- 1:02:08wheel, his foot pressing down on the gas causing the truck to
- 1:02:13barrel directly at the parents home to smash right into that
- 1:02:17large rock. It was almost like something was
- 1:02:20following them, like a living breathing Organism feeding upon
- 1:02:26it. After this horrible event people
- 1:02:30began to refer to the rock garden as the graveyard.
- 1:02:35Missus Curtis, the wife of the neighbor who had passed away,
- 1:02:39upon being greeted and offered condolences by the family,
- 1:02:43actually blamed them for what had happened, declaring that
- 1:02:47Carolyn never liked them anyway and was a witch.
- 1:02:52That was enough for her. Again, she begged Roger to move,
- 1:02:57but they were seemingly stuck given the awful circumstances.
- 1:03:02The man still had to work, so he departed for his business trip.
- 1:03:07While her husband was gone, it was up to Carolyn to take care
- 1:03:11of their five children. This meant taking them to and
- 1:03:14from school, as well as music lessons and much more.
- 1:03:19While attending her daughter Andrea's music lessons, she had
- 1:03:23forgotten to bring a book to help her pass the time, so
- 1:03:27Carolyn went and purchased a paper as a substitute.
- 1:03:30Before too long she found herself daydreaming and looking
- 1:03:34through the various ads and real estate available, wanting and
- 1:03:38wishing that she could change their current predicament when
- 1:03:42strangely enough, the universe seemed to glance back at her.
- 1:03:47Hidden among many other homes was a nine bedroom farmhouse
- 1:03:51with a barn, lots of land and seclusion.
- 1:03:56It's beautiful design and elegance soon had Carolyn
- 1:03:59imagining her children playing and being raised in nature as
- 1:04:03she wanted, and she could allow them to do so without the fear
- 1:04:08of other children attempting to harm them.
- 1:04:11She almost immediately became obsessed with the idea of
- 1:04:14purchasing the house and although the family really
- 1:04:17couldn't afford it at the time without seeking Roger's
- 1:04:21permission, she made a call and went to look at the old Arnold
- 1:04:25State the following day. The owner was a very nice old
- 1:04:29lady, and although she didn't have much, Carolyn asked how
- 1:04:34much she would have to put down to hold the home so she could
- 1:04:37purchase it once her husband had returned.
- 1:04:40An agreement of $500 as a good faith payment was made, and
- 1:04:45shortly after Roger arrived back home several days later, he was
- 1:04:50sideswiped by his wife's decision, although his anger
- 1:04:55would soon turn to understanding.
- 1:04:57After all, a happy wife makes for a happy life, as most would
- 1:05:02say, even though he didn't know exactly how they would make it
- 1:05:06work. He decided to placate his wife.
- 1:05:09And allow them to purchase the home.
- 1:05:12It took some time, but before too long they found themselves
- 1:05:16packing and coming into possession of the.
- 1:05:18Keys to their future. Although they couldn't.
- 1:05:21Foresee just how dark of the future it was to be.
- 1:05:29The parent family having seemingly found the home of
- 1:05:32their dreams located on a large swath of land outside of the
- 1:05:36town of Harrisville, RI, what would become known as the Old
- 1:05:41Arnold Estate, almost seemed to perfect like an answer to their
- 1:05:46desperate prayers. It's a large farmhouse which has
- 1:05:519 bedrooms, a barn and plenty of land which they can envision
- 1:05:56their children playing on and having a wonderful time.
- 1:06:00Although it's winter, they go ahead and begin to move into
- 1:06:04their new house. There's a massive snowstorm
- 1:06:08taking place while they're moving in, but this doesn't
- 1:06:11deter the large family from getting settled in to what they
- 1:06:14believe is going to be a charming, nice and new home for
- 1:06:19all of them. Given everything they've been
- 1:06:22through, I would have hoped for the same.
- 1:06:24And for the first three months, things are charming, nice and
- 1:06:29normal. Their rustic farmhouse has its
- 1:06:32challenges with it being fairly old, such as being very cold
- 1:06:37that winter, but it's nothing they can't deal with, or so they
- 1:06:42think. All around, the feeling is a
- 1:06:45happy one for the family. But this happy mood would soon
- 1:06:50change. Upon meeting their nearest
- 1:06:52neighbors, they seemed rather strange.
- 1:06:57They offered one piece of advice to Roger and Carolyn.
- 1:07:01For the love of your family, keep the lights on at night.
- 1:07:05Originally written off by the couple, these words would seem
- 1:07:09to be rather fitting foreshadowing for the events to
- 1:07:12come. When the frozen land of the farm
- 1:07:15began to thaw, it seemed like something thought along with it
- 1:07:20and began to plague them once again.
- 1:07:23One night when the daughters, Nancy and Andrea were asleep in
- 1:07:27their shared room, they're suddenly woken up by the sound
- 1:07:31of their doors slow open and closed, open and closed.
- 1:07:37Petrified by the noise of the doors smacking the wall and it
- 1:07:40also being their only way out of the room, they ran towards the
- 1:07:44door to try and escape when suddenly it stopped moving and
- 1:07:50just stayed open, still creaking from being moved.
- 1:07:57Catching their breath and trying to come to terms with what had
- 1:08:00just happened, Thinking by this point maybe one of their other
- 1:08:04sisters was trying to play a prank on them, the 2 girls
- 1:08:07looked down the hall and eventually made their way to
- 1:08:10their other sisters rooms where they found them asleep.
- 1:08:16Needless to say they wouldn't sleep for the rest of the night.
- 1:08:20They would bring this to the attention of their parents the
- 1:08:22following morning, but were quickly dismissed, as is often
- 1:08:26the case, and told that they had overactive imaginations.
- 1:08:32From here, things started small but became very noticeable as
- 1:08:37they mushroomed into much bigger experiences.
- 1:08:40At first, whatever spirits they believed could be in the house
- 1:08:45seemed benevolent, almost good-natured, with some of the
- 1:08:49younger siblings later stating that they would even be tucked
- 1:08:52into bed by the spirit of a woman on occasion.
- 1:08:55But that was all too short lived.
- 1:08:58Items soon began to go missing. Car keys weren't where they had
- 1:09:02been hung daily. Items such as mugs, toys, and
- 1:09:07utensils were soon disappearing as well.
- 1:09:11Carolyn would hear the scraping of a broom upon the floor or the
- 1:09:15knocking of a kettle in the kitchen when no one else was
- 1:09:18home but her. With this, upon cleaning the
- 1:09:22floors, she would also find piles of dirt that would appear
- 1:09:26out of nowhere, making her feel as if she was going crazy.
- 1:09:31But these small happenings too would soon become larger.
- 1:09:36The children would often play a game called Hide and Clap, a
- 1:09:40version of hide and go Seek. This time, Andrea was the seeker
- 1:09:45and her sisters went off hiding throughout the estate.
- 1:09:49Cindy made her way into the woodshed, found a small box just
- 1:09:52big enough for her to get inside.
- 1:09:55Being determined to win, she climbed into the box and slid
- 1:09:59the small lid over the top, figuring this would be an
- 1:10:02excellent hiding place indeed. And after several minutes, she
- 1:10:07realized that no one was coming for her and went to remove the
- 1:10:10lid. Except it wouldn't budget.
- 1:10:14Panicking and utter darkness, she used all means necessary to
- 1:10:19try and remove the lid and free herself.
- 1:10:23After screaming and worrying that she'd suffocate inside this
- 1:10:27box, she was thankfully found by Andrea, who slid the lid off no
- 1:10:32problem and revealed her horribly distressed younger
- 1:10:36sister inside. It's important to note.
- 1:10:39That this was a. Sliding cover.
- 1:10:42There was no locking mechanism. Along with this terrifying
- 1:10:46event, the children's rooms were often rearranged daily.
- 1:10:51They would leave their things one way in the morning and
- 1:10:54return to things either completely a mess, as if a small
- 1:10:57cyclone had hit their rooms, or all items would be smashed
- 1:11:01underneath their beds. And this happened to all of the
- 1:11:04girls at one point or another. These small whispers, bangings
- 1:11:11and movements did indeed become larger.
- 1:11:15Andrea, being the oldest, would often be woken up by her younger
- 1:11:19siblings and would hold them as they sobbed their eyes out,
- 1:11:24terrified to return to their rooms.
- 1:11:27Cindy, in particular, began to hear a sinister voice call out
- 1:11:30to her almost every night. The voice would tell her that
- 1:11:35there were seven dead soldiers in the walls and would repeat it
- 1:11:39over and over and over again. The children, now terrified,
- 1:11:47begged their parents to believe them, and although they too were
- 1:11:51beginning to experience things on their own, they didn't want
- 1:11:54to frighten the children, so they did what could be done to
- 1:11:58placate them. But soon the entire family began
- 1:12:02to hear the wails of something inhuman calling out for its
- 1:12:06mother. This disturbing trend with no
- 1:12:10origin was followed by even more disturbing happenings.
- 1:12:15The beds of the girls would lift up and shake by an unseen force,
- 1:12:20almost always around 5:15 AM, as if something was trying to send
- 1:12:26some kind of a message, although it was never clear just what
- 1:12:30that message was supposed to. Be.
- 1:12:33During the day, the apparitions of spirits began to manifest and
- 1:12:38stalk the halls of the old Arnold Estate.
- 1:12:41These were soon coupled by the horrible stench of rotting flesh
- 1:12:46wafting throughout the house. Soon the girls weren't the only
- 1:12:50ones whose doors were slamming open and closed and whose beds
- 1:12:55were lifting up on their own. Soon it was affecting their
- 1:12:59parents as well. One night, Carolyn woke up
- 1:13:03suddenly to the figure of an old woman over the foot of her bed.
- 1:13:07Her hair was like a sack of cobwebs with little tendrils
- 1:13:11hanging off. The woman's head was also bent
- 1:13:15and hanging off to the side of her neck as if it was horribly
- 1:13:19broken and mangled, her gnarled mouth screaming at her with an
- 1:13:24echoing voice. Get out, She shouted over and
- 1:13:30over again until she suddenly was no longer there.
- 1:13:36The parent family continued to endure a living nightmare as the
- 1:13:39traumatic paranormal activity persisted and continue to scale
- 1:13:44in intensity. How does one fight an enemy he
- 1:13:50can't see? Something he can't touch or
- 1:13:54feel, attack or defend against? This question and more must have
- 1:14:00ran through the heads of Roger and Carolyn as they not only
- 1:14:04feared for themselves, but especially their children.
- 1:14:07Now as their offspring's natural protectors, how anxiety inducing
- 1:14:13must it have been to know that they were powerless to stop what
- 1:14:17was terrorizing all of them each and every night?
- 1:14:22In an effort to try and understand what was happening to
- 1:14:25them, Carolyn began to research the history of their house and
- 1:14:30was shocked by what she found. Over 8 generations of the Arnold
- 1:14:35family had lived and died within the home, some by horrible
- 1:14:40means, according to the Black Book of Burlville, the town's
- 1:14:46former public records book. These included two suicides by
- 1:14:50hanging, one within the family barn, one by poison, the assault
- 1:14:56and murder of a young girl named Prudence Arnold by a farm hint,
- 1:15:022 drownings in the nearby Creek, and four men who froze to death.
- 1:15:07Among some of the notable deaths, one death that caught
- 1:15:12her eye in particular was that of a woman named Bathsheba
- 1:15:16Sherman. Her name was spelled exactly
- 1:15:19like their dog that they had previously owned, and her story
- 1:15:24was as interesting as it was disturbing.
- 1:15:28Born Bathsheba there in 1812, she married fellow Rhode
- 1:15:33Islander Judson Sherman and Thompson, CT on March 10th,
- 1:15:391844. According to available
- 1:15:42information from that time, the two had a son named Herbert, and
- 1:15:47for all intents and purposes, things seemed normal.
- 1:15:51But that couldn't be further from the truth.
- 1:15:54After losing three children before the age of 7, Bathsheba
- 1:15:58began to care for her neighbor's children, perhaps to fill the
- 1:16:02void that such sorrow could create.
- 1:16:05And it's here where things take a strange turn.
- 1:16:09While caring for the infant of a nearby family, the infant
- 1:16:12suddenly passed away within Bathsheba's care.
- 1:16:17An investigation ensued and it was found that the child had a
- 1:16:20puncture wound in its skull, as if someone had taken a large
- 1:16:25sewing needle and sent it through the child's head.
- 1:16:29Rumors of devil worship and witchcraft soon became rife,
- 1:16:36with many believing she had indeed sacrificed her children
- 1:16:39to Satan, robbing them of their young lives.
- 1:16:43Although Bathsheba was never punished for the child's death
- 1:16:47since there was never a trial, that didn't stop her behavior
- 1:16:51from becoming increasingly bizarre.
- 1:16:54She became incredibly reclusive, strange and dark.
- 1:17:01Rumors say that she supposedly attempted to murder other
- 1:17:04children while confessing her love for Satan before she then
- 1:17:09climbed atop the highest tree on the estate, cursing everyone
- 1:17:14before hanging herself. And although that would make for
- 1:17:17a much more fascinating story, it doesn't seem to be true.
- 1:17:22The rumors may indeed have been spread and their evidence of
- 1:17:26multiple child deaths including the infant via needle like
- 1:17:30object, but her tombstone reads for death date as May 25th, 1885
- 1:17:38S Odds are that she passed away as an old woman, but perhaps
- 1:17:42given the circumstances she became more bitter with age.
- 1:17:47Another strange detail that was uncovered was one of the hanging
- 1:17:51deaths that took place within the barn on the estate.
- 1:17:55It was that of Catherine Arnold. She had, seemingly out of the
- 1:17:59blue one day, made her way from the house to the barn, gathered
- 1:18:04a rope, and hung herself from the rafters.
- 1:18:09She was frozen solid. When she was later discovered.
- 1:18:14It seemed like whatever paranormal force that stalked
- 1:18:17the land tormented the matriarchs of the families that
- 1:18:21lived there and fed upon death itself.
- 1:18:26These supernatural occurrences that now plagued the Peron
- 1:18:29family were a daily occurrence, and they soon also began to
- 1:18:34physically touch the family as well.
- 1:18:38Poking soon turned to pushing, a hand on the shoulder soon turned
- 1:18:42to slapping, scratching, and more.
- 1:18:47One day when Carolyn was reading a book in the living room, she
- 1:18:51felt a piercing pain in her calf.
- 1:18:54Upon further examination, she saw what appeared to be a
- 1:18:58puncture wound, like that of a needle, with a small dribble of
- 1:19:02blood now coming out of her leg. These attacks didn't stop here.
- 1:19:09Carolyn soon believed that it was Bathsheba who was causing
- 1:19:13the majority of her problems. The spirit seemed to hide her
- 1:19:17things daily, making her feel as if she was going insane while
- 1:19:22simultaneously lusting after her husband.
- 1:19:26In later interviews, Roger would state that he never felt
- 1:19:30threatened by her spirit and that he only ever saw her
- 1:19:33sweeter side, such as comforting touches and the feeling of an
- 1:19:37embrace. To the contrary, his poor wife
- 1:19:42experienced much, much worse. Andrea Peron also in later
- 1:19:48interviews, said that the whole family believed it was the
- 1:19:51spirit of Bathsheba who was mostly tormenting Carolyn, as if
- 1:19:56she saw herself as the matriarch or the mistress.
- 1:20:00Of the house. And that Carolyn was some kind
- 1:20:03of competition, an obstacle between her and Roger's
- 1:20:07affection. On the verge of losing her mind
- 1:20:11and being tortured daily. The family was barely holding
- 1:20:15things together, most of all Carolyn.
- 1:20:20She had vented to a friend of hers named Barbara about what
- 1:20:23she had been going through, and strangely enough, this friend
- 1:20:27just so happened to attend a lecture that was being given by
- 1:20:31renowned paranormal scholars and demonologists Ed and Lorraine
- 1:20:36Warren. It was Barbara that actually
- 1:20:39told the Warrens about the parents and their struggles.
- 1:20:44Intrigued, they were put into mutual contact with one another,
- 1:20:48and before too long, the Warrens arrived at the front door of the
- 1:20:52old Arnold Estate. Upon stepping into the home for
- 1:20:57the first time, Lorraine Warren noticed a heavy and malevolent
- 1:21:01presence. Upon further convening over the
- 1:21:05course of several weeks, the couple told the family that they
- 1:21:09indeed were being haunted by the spirit of Bathsheba and that she
- 1:21:14had made a pact with Satan himself after sacrificing one of
- 1:21:18her children to him. She then hung herself on the
- 1:21:22property in order to haunt it forever.
- 1:21:26This is why the family was often seeing the mangled necked
- 1:21:29apparition of the woman with wispy hair.
- 1:21:33This was apparently her. Over the course of several
- 1:21:36months, the Warrens would visit the old Arnold estate in order
- 1:21:40to try and assist the family with riding themselves of the
- 1:21:44spirits, but it was all to no avail.
- 1:21:48All of these events seem to culminate with a Seance 1 stormy
- 1:21:51night. The Perrons, Roger and Carolyn,
- 1:21:56along with the Warrens were joined by a priest and a fellow
- 1:22:00medium to conduct a seance to try and establish further
- 1:22:04contact with the entities within the home to understand just why
- 1:22:09they were plaguing the family. The girls were confined to their
- 1:22:13rooms upstairs and were not allowed to partake in the
- 1:22:16ritual. The ritual was conducted in the
- 1:22:19basement, one of the alleged sources of the dark energy
- 1:22:24according to Lorraine Warren, and in the middle of this
- 1:22:27ritual, Carolyn seemingly became possessed as she exhibited
- 1:22:32violent behavior. She was restrained to a chair in
- 1:22:36order to prevent her from hurting herself and others.
- 1:22:40The entity that now inhabited her body claimed to be that of
- 1:22:44Bathsheba and before everyone's eyes that was present, Carolyn
- 1:22:49began to not only speak a language that was
- 1:22:52unrecognizable, but in a voice that wasn't her own.
- 1:22:57She then began to levitate in the chair and flew across the
- 1:23:01room. Although they were forbid to
- 1:23:04witness the event, as curious children often do, Andrea, along
- 1:23:10with her sister Cindy, snuck open the basement door and
- 1:23:13watched the events unfold for themselves.
- 1:23:17Their testimonies are also where some of these details are
- 1:23:20sourced from. Carolyn was now mangled and
- 1:23:24distorted, her body twisted in an unnatural position.
- 1:23:30After several hours of attempting to cast the spirit
- 1:23:33out, she finally went limp and lay catatonic on the floor.
- 1:23:40After his wife had seemingly been freed, Roger called the
- 1:23:44entire thing off. He was not only concerned for
- 1:23:47his wife's well-being, but his children's as well.
- 1:23:51And although the Warrens were trying to help, things just
- 1:23:55seemed to get so much worse when they were there.
- 1:23:59So disregarding their advice, he threw them out and forbid them
- 1:24:03and their associates from ever investigating the hauntings at
- 1:24:07the old Arnold estate ever again.
- 1:24:11Later in life, a 77 year old Roger would recall she was
- 1:24:16possessed. Her entire body was distorted
- 1:24:20and it lasted several hours until they de demonized her.
- 1:24:25Then I threw them out. I couldn't take it anymore.
- 1:24:30The family's torment would continue with varying intensity
- 1:24:34until 1980, when they were finally able to sell the old
- 1:24:37Arnold Estate and move to Georgia in a bid to rebuild
- 1:24:42their lives. Finally, they were free of the
- 1:24:45horrible events that had plagued them for nearly a decade.
- 1:24:50But all those happenings, all those traumatic moments would
- 1:24:54never be forgotten by any of them.
- 1:24:57They all realized that they were truly lucky to have escaped with
- 1:25:01their lives as well as their sanity.
- 1:25:05Going back and not only reading various interviews, Andrea
- 1:25:09Peron's books, and watching interviews with the family, they
- 1:25:12not only seemed genuine, but really had nothing to gain by
- 1:25:16claiming to have experienced these things.
- 1:25:19It truly seemed like they had suffered.
- 1:25:22I mean, they threw out the Warrens, which is interesting in
- 1:25:24and of itself, but if I saw my wife twisted and exhibiting
- 1:25:29demonic behavior, I probably would be pretty freaked out as
- 1:25:32well. The story of the haunting of the
- 1:25:35old Arnold Estate and the Peron family was used as the basis for
- 1:25:39The Conjuring movie, in which they were also used as
- 1:25:43consultants for accuracy's sake. And the film does of course take
- 1:25:48liberties, as most Hollywood films do, but it's a good one
- 1:25:52for sure. But having watched this video,
- 1:25:55you're now probably aware of what really happened.
- 1:25:59Since the selling of the home, reviews have been mixed by other
- 1:26:02residents, with one lady claiming that the home wasn't
- 1:26:05haunted at all and even condemning and suing The
- 1:26:09Conjuring film makers for causing her distress through
- 1:26:12trespassers, and others stating that the home is still very well
- 1:26:16haunted indeed. More current owners, who we'll
- 1:26:20call Corey and Jennifer, welcomed the spirits and the
- 1:26:24history of the home when they moved in, claiming to have only
- 1:26:28slept in the smaller wing of the estate for the first four months
- 1:26:31that they lived there. They didn't want to overstep
- 1:26:34their boundaries with whatever was haunting the property.
- 1:26:38When they finally opened up the door to the wing of the larger
- 1:26:41part of the house the very same night, they both claimed to be
- 1:26:45woken up by a shadowy figure. Their couple would say that it
- 1:26:49was pitch black in color and peeking at them from behind the
- 1:26:53door frame. Although most people would be
- 1:26:56terrified at the prospect of dealing with a shadow figure of
- 1:26:59any sort, the couple understood that they were guests in this
- 1:27:02home even though they had purchased it.
- 1:27:06And we're just excited to have experienced anything.
- 1:27:10But they also admit that although they do continue to
- 1:27:12experience strange things from time to time, it's nothing like
- 1:27:16what the Perrons say. They experienced nothing quite
- 1:27:19as malevolent or evil by any means.
- 1:27:24Despite criticism and support, the Perrons to this day remain
- 1:27:29adamant that their story is true, with Andrea saying in an
- 1:27:33interview with USA TODAY. Both my mother and I would soon
- 1:27:37swallow our tongue and tell a lie.
- 1:27:40People are free to believe whatever they want, but we know
- 1:27:43what we've experienced prior to her death.
- 1:27:47When asked about the events of the Haunting Lorraine, Warren
- 1:27:51claimed that she still felt traumatized all these years
- 1:27:53later about what had taken place that stormy night during the
- 1:27:57seance at the old Arnold Estate, saying that the things that
- 1:28:02happened there were so incredibly frightening.
- 1:28:05It still effects me to talk about it to this day.
- 1:28:08She, of course, was reunited with Ed on April 18th of 2019.
- 1:28:14God rest her soul these days. People who have.
- 1:28:17Visited the house, such as various paranormal groups,
- 1:28:21researchers and fans of The Conjuring universe have
- 1:28:25described feeling multiple things for stepping in the home,
- 1:28:29some claiming to see shadow figures, others a feeling of a
- 1:28:33heavy presence to the points where it makes them nauseous.
- 1:28:38And regardless, there certainly does seem to be something there
- 1:28:42all around. I think the haunting, given all
- 1:28:45the research I've done is more than likely legitimate.
- 1:28:49There's too many sources backing up what took place.
- 1:28:52Not to mention the family didn't gain anything from experiencing
- 1:28:56what they did, and surviving members still claim it's all
- 1:29:00true to this day. If you'd like to learn more, I'm
- 1:29:04listing the sources I used for research in the description
- 1:29:07below, as well as various links to Andrea Peron's books which
- 1:29:12tell the full story of her and her family.
- 1:29:15I of course, am not affiliated with her or anyone else involved
- 1:29:19in any way. I just find them to be an
- 1:29:21interesting and very useful resource.
- 1:29:25So if you find yourself in hard times and are presented with
- 1:29:28what seems like a gift from the universe, just know that if it's
- 1:29:33too good to be true, it probably is.
- 1:29:37And the dream home that you can't wait to live in could be
- 1:29:40infested with generations of death and despair demons which
- 1:29:46could still be lurking and stalking the property.
- 1:29:50So my advice? If it sounds too good to be
- 1:29:54true, it is. And please research a home's
- 1:29:59history before you buy it. Or you may be stuck with a
- 1:30:03decade of paranormal torment. Or worse, you may become its
- 1:30:08newest permanent resident. Can death unleash something into
- 1:30:16this world that isn't supposed to be here?
- 1:30:19Could it act like a portal, allowing something sinister and
- 1:30:23dark to creep in just before it closes, especially if the person
- 1:30:28passing is harboring dark and abhorrent secrets?
- 1:30:34When a young man begins to exhibit strange and demonic
- 1:30:37behavior and the very laws of nature seem to bend to his will,
- 1:30:42can a reverend work to save his very soul?
- 1:30:46Documented by multiple law enforcement professionals as
- 1:30:50unexplained to this day, this is certainly not a story you will
- 1:30:54want to miss. This is the untold story of Don
- 1:30:58Decker, also known as the Rain Man of Pennsylvania.
- 1:31:06The date is February 24th, 1983 and on this cold, misty day, a
- 1:31:14family is mourning the loss of their loved 1A man by the name
- 1:31:20of James Keshaw. After battling alcoholism for
- 1:31:25many years, the bottle finally took its toll and caused
- 1:31:29cirrhosis of the liver which became fatal.
- 1:31:33Among the pews of friends and family paying their respects
- 1:31:38sits a young man, the grandson of James, 21 year old Don
- 1:31:43Decker. Donna Be granted furlough from
- 1:31:46his four to 12 month jail sentence for receiving stolen
- 1:31:51property in order to attend the funeral.
- 1:31:54But as he sat facing the body of his grandfather as others paid
- 1:31:59their last respects and gave glowing speeches about the man,
- 1:32:04Don clenched his fists. Only he harbored a dark secret
- 1:32:09that no one else knew, and this secret is perhaps what
- 1:32:13contributed to his troubled adolescence.
- 1:32:17When it was his turn to walk up and say goodbye to James.
- 1:32:22As he stood over his body, the face of evil looked back at him
- 1:32:27with eyes closed for the first time.
- 1:32:30Dom would later say it felt like good triumphing over evil that
- 1:32:35day. And I truly felt like everything
- 1:32:38was going to get better, like it was a turning point in my life.
- 1:32:44The secret that he had been holding on to for so long was
- 1:32:47that James, his very own grandfather, had abused him from
- 1:32:52the time he was seven years old until he was a teenager and no
- 1:32:57one else knew. All the years of pain and fear
- 1:33:01were caused by that man. The very same that now laid in
- 1:33:05the coffin. The very same that Dawn was now
- 1:33:09having to hear others praise and who he was publicly obligated to
- 1:33:15mourn. At the conclusion of the
- 1:33:17funeral, when James casket was laid into its final resting
- 1:33:21place, he couldn't stand the way his parents had glorified the
- 1:33:25man's memory. But given the circumstances he
- 1:33:28was in, furloughed from jail and with emotions raw amongst
- 1:33:32everybody, he decided it would be for the best to go and stay
- 1:33:37the night with some family friends instead before he was
- 1:33:41set to return to finish out his sentence.
- 1:33:44Bob and Jeannie Kiefer were long time friends of the family and
- 1:33:48were quite fond of Dawn, so they were more than happy to have him
- 1:33:52join them for the night. As the night progressed, the
- 1:33:56three of them were enjoying each other's company, but it seemed
- 1:34:00like all the feelings that had been stirred up from the
- 1:34:03memories of his grandfather's abuse at the funeral were coming
- 1:34:06back to haunt Dawn. He fell on edge and uneasy when
- 1:34:12suddenly the air around him vibrated with a bone deep chill.
- 1:34:18Almost simultaneously after this occurred, water began to drip
- 1:34:22from the ceiling and down the living room walls.
- 1:34:26Don then fell into an eerie trance like state, staring at
- 1:34:30nothing and yet everything at the same time.
- 1:34:35The Kiefer's were perplexed at what was happening and tried
- 1:34:38examining all reasonable possibilities.
- 1:34:42Thinking they had a leak, they contacted their landlord, a man
- 1:34:45named Ron Van Wy. Upon arriving, Ron too quickly
- 1:34:51became perplexed. The leak, or so they thought,
- 1:34:55was obvious. But what was strange to him was
- 1:34:59that there was no piping that ran through the front part of
- 1:35:02the house. Certainly none that could spring
- 1:35:05a leak from the ceiling or the walls.
- 1:35:08None at all. On top of this strangeness, when
- 1:35:12observing the water's direction, Ron noticed that there was
- 1:35:16indeed no sense of direction. The water was not only coming
- 1:35:21from the top, down from the ceiling in the walls, but it was
- 1:35:25going from the floor and up the walls and direct contradiction
- 1:35:30to the laws of gravity and to anything that he had ever seen.
- 1:35:35Shocked and needing multiple witnesses to assure himself that
- 1:35:39he wasn't crazy, Ron phoned his wife Romaine to come and take a
- 1:35:44look as well. Upon her arrival, she was just
- 1:35:48as perplexed and became scared of what was happening since it
- 1:35:52defied all logic and the leak, or so they thought, only became
- 1:35:58worse. So the landlords did the only
- 1:36:01thing that they could do, they called the police.
- 1:36:05Shortly after that call, a patrol car arrived with Officer
- 1:36:09John Bojan, who, after briefly stepping inside the home, became
- 1:36:13drenched in water and also witnessed the bizarre,
- 1:36:17otherworldly activity to which he had no explanation for
- 1:36:22either. So to prove his sanity and to
- 1:36:25back up a report, he called upon his partner, an officer named
- 1:36:30Richard Volbert. When Richard arrived, he wanted
- 1:36:34to be briefed on exactly what was going on, but Beaujan didn't
- 1:36:39want to give him any sort of a preconceived notion and just
- 1:36:42told him to trust him on this one.
- 1:36:45After some back and forth, Richard finally conceded and
- 1:36:49followed John into the key for residence.
- 1:36:52He would later describe the incident as.
- 1:36:54So I walked in the door, I couldn't have gotten 2 steps in
- 1:36:59the door and I was pelted by water as we were discussing a
- 1:37:03potential leak and as we were being told that there were no
- 1:37:06pipes in that part of the house. As we stood just inside the
- 1:37:10house a droplet of water was traveling horizontally and
- 1:37:15passed right between US and out into the next room.
- 1:37:20As I retell this story I have a chill up my spine and the hair
- 1:37:25on my neck is standing up. John would go on to say things
- 1:37:30were happening in this house that I couldn't have ever
- 1:37:33possibly dreamed of happening and there was no way to explain
- 1:37:37what was going on. Shocked by what they were
- 1:37:40witnessing, the two officers asked the family to step outside
- 1:37:44of the house and out of the water while they left to report
- 1:37:47the incident to the chief himself.
- 1:37:50The Wise decided to stay at the property while the Kiefer's and
- 1:37:54Don walked across the street to a local restaurant for something
- 1:37:58to eat. Within seconds of everyone
- 1:38:00departing, the water suddenly stopped.
- 1:38:03Within the house and. Aside from the home being
- 1:38:06drenched, it was back to normal. No more dripping water and no
- 1:38:12more mist. This left Ron and his wife, only
- 1:38:15to speculate that whatever was happening was coming from one of
- 1:38:19the three, because when they left, so did it.
- 1:38:24Pam Scrofano, who owned the pizzeria opposite the Kiefer's
- 1:38:28house where the three ended up in, was a friend of the Kiefer's
- 1:38:32and knew Dawn as well. Upon greeting the three of them,
- 1:38:36she noticed that Dawn was distant, like he was looking at
- 1:38:41you, but looking through you, a deeply religious woman, she
- 1:38:45sensed something evil about him, like the devil was working
- 1:38:50through Dawn Decker and recommended that they contact
- 1:38:54someone at the church for help. Within mere seconds of
- 1:38:58mentioning this, droplets of water hit the table in front of
- 1:39:02them, and soon the very same phenomena that was originally
- 1:39:07happening in the house was also now taking place inside the
- 1:39:12pizzeria. Sensing this evil Pam ran to the
- 1:39:16cash register where she had an old cross necklace.
- 1:39:20She took it out and placed it around Don's neck.
- 1:39:24As soon as it touched his skin, he got burned.
- 1:39:28He began to scream and pull the necklace off of him.
- 1:39:32It was charred black. As the trio departed the
- 1:39:36pizzeria and headed back to their home, the strange activity
- 1:39:40inside once again ceased. It's important to note that
- 1:39:46nothing like this had ever happened at the Kiefer residence
- 1:39:49or Pam's Pizzeria. No plumbing issues, nothing that
- 1:39:53could be considered even remotely similar.
- 1:39:56Convening inside the home once again, they met Ron and his
- 1:40:00wife. Ron suspected that Don had
- 1:40:03something to do with what was happening, and after some
- 1:40:06discussion, an argument erupted among the group.
- 1:40:10This led to Jeannie screaming at Don, telling him that they knew
- 1:40:14it was him, that he had to make all of this stop.
- 1:40:18After the words left her mouth, the pots and pans above the
- 1:40:22stove began to shake, and the lights around them began to
- 1:40:27flicker. Don Decker was no longer in
- 1:40:31control of his body. Everyone watched in horror as
- 1:40:37Don levitated multiple feet into the air and rotated several
- 1:40:42times. He was then thrown out of the
- 1:40:45kitchen where they were and into an entirely different room.
- 1:40:50Don himself would later recount the event like this.
- 1:40:54It wasn't like someone grabbing your hand or picking you up.
- 1:40:58I felt this force over my entire body.
- 1:41:02I'm a big man and I've always been assertive, but this,
- 1:41:06whatever this was, made me feel like a newborn child.
- 1:41:11I'm scared right now just thinking about it.
- 1:41:14Dawn now laid unconscious on the floor and the rain began again.
- 1:41:20The wise and the kiefers were an absolute shock and disbelief at
- 1:41:24what had just taken place. They knew it was tied to dawn,
- 1:41:29but they had no idea just what it was, but they felt that it
- 1:41:33was evil. A few hours after the strange
- 1:41:37incident witnessed by the police officers, they arrived back at
- 1:41:40the residence alongside their very heated police.
- 1:41:44Chief. As he made his way into the home
- 1:41:46with the two officers behind him, he too was pelted with
- 1:41:49water just as they had been. Now first probably feeling like
- 1:41:54he was on the spot and perhaps slightly embarrassed, he claimed
- 1:41:58that this wasn't even a police issue, but a plumbing issue,
- 1:42:03despite then being told that there were no pipes in that part
- 1:42:06of the house, and this was even confirmed by blueprints of the
- 1:42:09home. After taking a look around at
- 1:42:12the rest of the home, which was bone dry, the chief then angrily
- 1:42:17ordered the two officers to escort him back home.
- 1:42:21He would be the only officer that night to not admit to
- 1:42:24anything strange happening. He then directed Officers John
- 1:42:28and Richard to not file a report and to not speak about the
- 1:42:32incident at all, but word would get out the following morning.
- 1:42:38Acting against the specific orders from their chief, the two
- 1:42:42officers returned to the residence along with three
- 1:42:45veteran officers as well. They too would see and
- 1:42:48experience the bizarre rain inside the home.
- 1:42:52So they decided to try something to attempt to get to the bottom
- 1:42:56of what exactly was going on. They asked if they could place a
- 1:43:00paper bag over Don's head, to which Don agreed.
- 1:43:04This was so he would have no way of seeing anything.
- 1:43:07He'd have no preconceived notions of what could be placed
- 1:43:10on him or in his hands. They then placed a gold cross
- 1:43:15necklace from one of the officers into his hand.
- 1:43:19Lieutenant William Davies, one of the officers present who
- 1:43:23placed the cross into his hand, described the incident like
- 1:43:27this. As soon as the necklace touched
- 1:43:30his palm, he said it burnt him. He would have had no idea what
- 1:43:35it was. I saw what I believe to be smoke
- 1:43:39of some sort coming from the necklace or his hand.
- 1:43:43As he dropped the necklace. I picked it up and it was hot.
- 1:43:47Not burning hot, but hot enough to concern me.
- 1:43:52Then suddenly with the force, as if a bus hit him, he lifted up
- 1:43:58and was thrown across the room, hitting the back wall.
- 1:44:02Upon removing the bag from him, he was clearly dazed and had
- 1:44:06three bloody and fresh claw marks across his neck.
- 1:44:11I've been a cop for 40 years and I've never ran into anything
- 1:44:15like this ever. Never before and never again
- 1:44:20after. There's always an explanation,
- 1:44:24but in this case there was no explanation.
- 1:44:28The police would later leave again with no answers as to what
- 1:44:32was taking place, believing it to be a spiritual matter.
- 1:44:37Don was placed on the couch in the living room where the rain
- 1:44:40continued to go from mist to showers at random and varying
- 1:44:45times. After making multiple desperate
- 1:44:49calls to every Protestant and Catholic religious leader in
- 1:44:52Shroudsburg, only one didn't turn them down.
- 1:44:57Ron was able to convince an evangelical preacher who went by
- 1:45:00the name of Reverend Johnson to come over and pray with Don.
- 1:45:06As she arrived and began to pray, the rest of the group held
- 1:45:09hands and vigil and did what they could to support her.
- 1:45:14As the first words left her lips, dawn began to convulse and
- 1:45:19shake. The rain intensified and his
- 1:45:22body began to twist into unnatural positions.
- 1:45:27But as she continued, he slowly but surely began to relax, and
- 1:45:33the rain seemed to stop. Although those present believed
- 1:45:38that a miracle had been performed, the results of that
- 1:45:42prayer session would only prove temporary, perhaps placing into
- 1:45:46hibernation whatever was inside Don Decker.
- 1:45:51Once his furlough was over, Don Decker returned back to jail to
- 1:45:55finish his sentence and within just a few days the mysterious
- 1:46:00rain returned. Upon his return to jail, Don was
- 1:46:05placed in a cell with another inmate and had the thought enter
- 1:46:08his mind that if he could make it rain in the cell, perhaps he
- 1:46:13could get to be alone. Almost as soon as he thought
- 1:46:16that, the rain began. It was materializing out of the
- 1:46:21concrete floor and flowing upward.
- 1:46:25The other inmate was horrified and screamed for the guards to
- 1:46:29let him out. Thinking they had some kind of
- 1:46:32plumbing issue, the guards opened the cell and removed that
- 1:46:36inmate as well as Decker. At first, he was accused of
- 1:46:40throwing water onto the walls from the sink or from the toilet
- 1:46:44by the guards, but upon these accusations, Don rebuttal.
- 1:46:48With. I can control it.
- 1:46:51This time the feeling was different.
- 1:46:53This time he felt powerful and didn't control.
- 1:46:57Upon hearing this, the guard laughed and said if you can
- 1:47:01control this rain, make it rain in the warden's office.
- 1:47:05An offer that Don couldn't refuse.
- 1:47:09The warden would then describe what happened and these are the
- 1:47:12words of Lieutenant Warden David Keenhold.
- 1:47:16I was in my office filling out paperwork with no one else
- 1:47:19around. It was approximately 8:00 PM in
- 1:47:22the evening. I didn't notice it at that time,
- 1:47:25but my shirt was dripping down. I heard a knock at the door and
- 1:47:30little did I know that it was the same officer that was just
- 1:47:32with Don Decker. I wasn't aware of the situation
- 1:47:36at the time. He told me to look at my shirt
- 1:47:39and there was no explanation as to where the water could have
- 1:47:42come from. The officer then became very
- 1:47:45frightened of what had happened and after explaining the
- 1:47:48situation to me, I too became frightened.
- 1:47:52Shortly after the rain in the warden's office, a frantic call
- 1:47:56was placed to a local chaplain, a man named Reverend William
- 1:48:00Blackburn. He soon found himself shaking
- 1:48:03hands with the warden and several officers as he was
- 1:48:06escorted into the jail and into an empty cell.
- 1:48:09Within minutes he came face to face with Don Decker, who by
- 1:48:14this time was beginning to fear the feeling he had inside of
- 1:48:18him. That powerful and evil feeling.
- 1:48:22He was now asking for the Reverend's help and freeing him
- 1:48:26of whatever this thing was. Blackburn wasn't convinced at
- 1:48:30first. He told Decker that his life
- 1:48:32would be much easier if he just stopped all this nonsense and
- 1:48:36attention seeking. He would go on later to describe
- 1:48:39the situation like this. Almost immediately after I
- 1:48:43accused him, Don's demeanor changed.
- 1:48:46The glazed look came over him and a horrible smell entered the
- 1:48:50room. Doctors, nurses, and medical
- 1:48:54personnel will tell you that when you walk into a room when
- 1:48:57there's someone dying of disease or of cancer, there's a smell to
- 1:49:02it. I smelled that smell multiplied
- 1:49:05by at least five times. It was evil and foreboding.
- 1:49:11Don's glazed expression then switched to 1 of malice and
- 1:49:15calculation. He exclaimed.
- 1:49:18I have powers that you don't, and I can make it rain.
- 1:49:22He then raised his hand and rubbed his fingers together and
- 1:49:26it started to rain inside that cell.
- 1:49:29It was like a devil's rain, a mist.
- 1:49:32I was in the presence of evil. I started opening my Bible to
- 1:49:37begin to pray and Don said I don't want you.
- 1:49:40To pray for me. To which I decided to anyways.
- 1:49:44I started to read to him and the strange thing is that even
- 1:49:48though I was soaked, the pages of my Bible never got wet and
- 1:49:53that was truly frightening. Although the session was short,
- 1:49:57upon uttering the words that he was now bound in the name of
- 1:50:00Jesus Christ, the rain stopped and a peace overtook dawn.
- 1:50:06When he finally came to, he thanked the Reverend with tears
- 1:50:10in his eyes, and the two hugged and prayed together again.
- 1:50:16In the words of Reverend Blackburn, there is no doubt in
- 1:50:19my mind that he was possessed. No human being could do what he
- 1:50:23did in that room. There is no way that he did
- 1:50:26anything to fool me whatsoever. Whatever happened was spiritual
- 1:50:31and it was not from God. I can guarantee you that it was
- 1:50:35not from God. From this moment forward, the
- 1:50:38rain has stopped for now. Don Decker would later say that
- 1:50:43he takes things day by day and that fortunately, the rain
- 1:50:47hasn't returned. As for his grandfather, he
- 1:50:51thinks whatever happened was related to him.
- 1:50:54He thinks that considering where he thinks he ended up, maybe he
- 1:50:58was able to make a deal with someone and have yet another
- 1:51:02chance to abuse him. What makes this case so unique
- 1:51:06and interesting is that all the people involved are credible
- 1:51:09people. I mean we have some family
- 1:51:12friends sure, but they stated they had nothing take place in
- 1:51:16that house prior to Don's arrival that morning.
- 1:51:19We have the landlord of the family's home and his wife not
- 1:51:23only reaffirming that there weren't any prior issues, but
- 1:51:26that there were no pipes in that area of the house.
- 1:51:29We then have 6 police officers including the chief over the
- 1:51:33case experience the phenomena and he was the only one that
- 1:51:37said that nothing took place. We have a business owner where
- 1:51:41the phenomena took place at her establishment as well.
- 1:51:44Then several guards at the jail and which he goes back to finish
- 1:51:48serving his time witness things and the warden of the jail
- 1:51:51himself and the police officers. Three of them were seasoned
- 1:51:55lieutenants I might add and anyone with a proper reputation
- 1:51:59unless they really experienced something would risk that in my
- 1:52:03opinion. So was it demonic infestation?
- 1:52:07Possession, poltergeist activity, or something else
- 1:52:12entirely? When we have so many credible
- 1:52:15eyewitnesses recanting the same details, saying what they saw,
- 1:52:19experienced and felt was a phenomena not of this world, it
- 1:52:25truly makes you wonder. And if it wasn't spiritual,
- 1:52:29could Don's childhood trauma have allowed him to break into a
- 1:52:32part of the mind that could somehow 'cause these kinds of
- 1:52:35things allow him to manipulate the weather of his surroundings,
- 1:52:40move objects, and even cause harm to himself?
- 1:52:45We may never truly know the answers to this mystery in
- 1:52:47particular, and it very much still is a mystery to this day.
- 1:52:52As far as an update on Don Decker, besides multiple show
- 1:52:56appearances and interviews to discuss his story over the
- 1:52:59years, the last known activity that I could find of him was
- 1:53:03that back in 2012, he was charged with arson of a local
- 1:53:07restaurant in the Poconos Mountains of Pennsylvania.
- 1:53:11It seems like perhaps he was paid to set fire to the
- 1:53:14establishment by the owner, maybe for insurance fraud.
- 1:53:18As far as the outcome of the case, I couldn't find additional
- 1:53:21details. Perhaps whatever evil that was
- 1:53:24inside Dawn got the best of him at this time.
- 1:53:28Or, you know, we're all human, we do make mistakes without
- 1:53:32otherworldly influence as well. Just the thought.
- 1:53:35Wherever he is, I do have to say that his story is an amazing and
- 1:53:40intriguing 1 and I wish him nothing but the best.
- 1:53:44I'd also like to say thank you guys for watching this video.
- 1:53:48Without you guys, this channel was just me making videos that I
- 1:53:51find interesting at home at my computer, and I really can't
- 1:53:56hammer home how much your support means to me.
- 1:53:59It seems like YouTube doesn't always want to promote my
- 1:54:01content, and that's been a big uphill battle over the last four
- 1:54:05years. So when you choose to watch
- 1:54:08Mystery Archives, just know it helps me out much more than you
- 1:54:11could ever know. Rob and Vicki Graves had found
- 1:54:25what appeared to be their dream home, looking to escape the big
- 1:54:29city life and take up a more rural.
- 1:54:32One for themselves and their two teenage sons.
- 1:54:36They found Fox Hollow Farm and were shocked at how affordable
- 1:54:39it was for the sheer size and quality of the property.
- 1:54:43Sensing that it was too good to be true, they asked what could
- 1:54:46possibly be wrong with it because at a passing glance it
- 1:54:50seemed absolutely gorgeous. Then it came to Rob.
- 1:54:55He had remembered the name from a news broadcast many years ago.
- 1:54:59Unbeknownst to him and his wife, they were now standing on the
- 1:55:03very same grounds that were once owned by Herb Baumeister, the
- 1:55:07notorious serial killer. They immediately brought this up
- 1:55:11to the real estate agent who was showing them the property and
- 1:55:14were immediately told that that was indeed the case.
- 1:55:18That the private investor had indeed purchased the estate from
- 1:55:21the widow of Herb following the disturbing discovery of the
- 1:55:25bodies back in the 1990s, but that it had been completely
- 1:55:29remodeled from head to toe, removing any and all remnants of
- 1:55:33what it looked like when the murders had taken place all
- 1:55:36those years ago. But that's why it was indeed so
- 1:55:39affordable, because no one wanted to live there due to the
- 1:55:43history. After some further discussion
- 1:55:46among the couple, they ultimately decided to purchase
- 1:55:50the property. Within a couple weeks, the
- 1:55:52family moves in and falls in love with Fox Hollow Farm.
- 1:55:57The teenage sons soon make it a habit to play outside and then
- 1:56:01wash off in the pool in the basement, soon tracking dirt and
- 1:56:05gravel all throughout the home. One day, Vicky is vacuuming up
- 1:56:10the dirt that the boys had brought in from the outside
- 1:56:13around the pool when suddenly her vacuum loses power.
- 1:56:18Believing that perhaps she had accidentally unplugged it from
- 1:56:20the outlet, she plugged it back in and continued her work.
- 1:56:25Within several more minutes, it happened again.
- 1:56:29Perplexed this time because she was even more aware and careful
- 1:56:33about the cord in the outlet. She knew she hadn't unplugged
- 1:56:36it, so she plugged it back in and triple checked that it
- 1:56:40wasn't just falling out of the outlet by pulling the cord.
- 1:56:43Evermore aware this time she goes back to vacuuming but
- 1:56:47keeping a present eye on the cord itself and to her amazement
- 1:56:52it pulls out on its own as if someone had grabbed and pulled
- 1:56:56it out of the socket. Startled, she drops the vacuum
- 1:57:00and is beside herself. She doesn't know how to make
- 1:57:03sense of what had just happened and this would just be the
- 1:57:07beginning of the strangeness that would occur.
- 1:57:11Rob worked at a car dealership and one of his employees was a
- 1:57:14man named Joe Joe had been a great employee, but had a
- 1:57:18problem of being chronically late most of the time.
- 1:57:22As he probed to figure out what was going on, Joe informed Rob
- 1:57:26that he lived over an hour away and really needed the job and
- 1:57:29would be willing to move closer if the opportunity presented
- 1:57:32itself. Well, Rob thought about it and
- 1:57:36ended up offering Joe a place to rent.
- 1:57:39Located on Fox Hollow Farm, they had a guest house that they were
- 1:57:43considering renting out as apartments for quite some time,
- 1:57:46and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to benefit everyone
- 1:57:49involved. Joe would indeed move in just a
- 1:57:52few days later. It takes several hours, but
- 1:57:56within that time frame they're able to get everything inside
- 1:57:59and finish the move. Exhausted, Joe decides to retire
- 1:58:03for the night with his dog Fred. As he lays down to sleep in his
- 1:58:08newly set up bed, he then finds himself in a horrific nightmare.
- 1:58:13He's being chased throughout Fox Hollow Farm by something he
- 1:58:16can't see. The dream is so intense that it
- 1:58:19causes him to sleepwalk, which wasn't something that he was
- 1:58:23known to do. He began to run while still
- 1:58:26dreaming and ran directly into the door frame as he tried to
- 1:58:30escape the guest house. Falling back, he knocked into a
- 1:58:34nearby glass of water, which fell and shattered, cutting his
- 1:58:39hands. The impact and cutting of his
- 1:58:42hands finally woke him up and he was forced to sit back and
- 1:58:45ponder. Just what had taken place and
- 1:58:48things would only intensify. From.
- 1:58:50Here, another day soon after, Rob was painting the side of
- 1:58:55their helm a different color. As he and his wife remarked on
- 1:58:58how nice the finished job will be, she spots something out of
- 1:59:02the corner of her eye. She had seen a man in a red
- 1:59:05shirt staring at them. As she broke away from her
- 1:59:08husband and began to approach the figure, it started to walk
- 1:59:12away from her and quickly disappeared as if it never
- 1:59:15existed. The couple then called out and
- 1:59:19checked the perimeter but never found anyone.
- 1:59:23They dismissed the person as nothing more than a curious
- 1:59:25trespasser. I mean, after all, they did
- 1:59:28purchase a serial killer's home. They just had to accept that
- 1:59:32curious people may sneak up just to get a look at their home.
- 1:59:36Later that night, Joe was doing the dishes in his apartment when
- 1:59:40he suddenly gets a series of knocks on his front door,
- 1:59:44telling the person it'll just be a minute.
- 1:59:46As he drives his hands off to go and answer the door, the series
- 1:59:50of knocks begin to grow louder and more aggressive.
- 1:59:55Thinking it was extremely strange or extremely urgent
- 1:59:58concerning Vicki or Rob, he went and answered the doors.
- 2:00:02It was still being knocked upon. However, as he opened the door,
- 2:00:07there was no one to be found. Automatically on guard, he peers
- 2:00:12outside. The knocking had been happening
- 2:00:14when he answered the door, so no person could have got very far
- 2:00:18while he answered. Mid knock he glanced around and
- 2:00:22yet saw and heard nothing. He stepped outside and began to
- 2:00:27examine the roof in the nearby areas and still there was
- 2:00:31nothing. Thoroughly weirded out at this
- 2:00:34point, he made his way back inside and bolted, the door
- 2:00:38locked behind him. He started to make his way back
- 2:00:41to the kitchen to finish doing his dishes when he spotted a man
- 2:00:45standing in his bedroom staring at him.
- 2:00:49Upon spotting the figure, his dog begins to growl and make
- 2:00:53sounds that he's never heard him make before, staring directly in
- 2:00:58the direction of the bedroom. Already on edge, he ran into the
- 2:01:03bedroom and flicked the light on, only to discover that there
- 2:01:07was again no one there. Searching the entire apartment,
- 2:01:12he again found nothing. Trying to rationalize and clear
- 2:01:16his mind, he decided to take his dog Fred for a walk to calm down
- 2:01:22and unwind for the evening. While on his walk around the
- 2:01:25property, he thought to check on Rob and Vicki's house to see if
- 2:01:29the lights were on. This would indicate to him that
- 2:01:32perhaps they were the ones who had knocked on his door and
- 2:01:35therefore he could rest easy and figure out what it was about.
- 2:01:39The following morning, however, upon arriving at their house, he
- 2:01:43found it completely blacked out. They had already gone to bed for
- 2:01:47the night. Fred, who was always a loyal and
- 2:01:50obedient dog, always walked with him without a leash.
- 2:01:53And. Would always follow his
- 2:01:55commands, however, tonight. Would be a.
- 2:01:59Different story. Deciding to head back to his
- 2:02:02apartment, he motioned for Fred to join him, but the dog would
- 2:02:06not budget. He suddenly began to growl and
- 2:02:09then bolted into the nearby tree line.
- 2:02:12Instinctively, Joe ran after his dog, but not before seeing what
- 2:02:17his dog was running after. Before his eyes and the very
- 2:02:21same tree line was a man in a red shirt.
- 2:02:25Although he was absolutely terrified, Joe couldn't let
- 2:02:28anything happen to his beloved dog, so he continued to run
- 2:02:32towards this man, when suddenly whoever or whatever this was
- 2:02:38disappeared before his eyes, although slightly behind.
- 2:02:43He would quickly catch up to Fred and now noticed him not
- 2:02:47acting aggressive at all, but rather showing his belly in
- 2:02:50submission, staring in the direction of Joe.
- 2:02:54Joe, knowing his dog, knew that something very strange had to be
- 2:02:58up with him. He suddenly felt as if someone
- 2:03:02was staring directly at him. He slowly turned around to see
- 2:03:06the apparition of a man in a red shirt with a twisted face
- 2:03:11staring back at him just several feet away.
- 2:03:15Joe, as most of us would, ran out of there as fast as he
- 2:03:19could, his loyal companion following him.
- 2:03:24The two run as fast as they can back to the apartment, where
- 2:03:27they rush inside, lock and deadbolt the door, and nervously
- 2:03:32watch out of the blinds for the rest of the night.
- 2:03:35The following morning, and even more exhausted, Joe makes his
- 2:03:38way to Vicki and Rob's house to discuss the prior night's
- 2:03:41events. As he's telling both of them
- 2:03:44what happened, Vicki starts to become emotional.
- 2:03:48She too had seen the man in red just days earlier.
- 2:03:51She points to where she saw him and Loan, and behold, it's the
- 2:03:55exact same spot that Joe had encountered the entity the night
- 2:03:58before. As the day progressed tonight,
- 2:04:02Joe yet again found himself in his apartment, hoping to finally
- 2:04:05get some rest. But as he settled down in his
- 2:04:09bed, he was suddenly startled by knocking at his door as he
- 2:04:14yelled out who is it? As he made his way towards the
- 2:04:17door, he didn't receive an audible answer back, just more
- 2:04:22aggressive knocking at the door, the door itself now shaking,
- 2:04:28facing his fear of the unknown. Mid knock, Joe throws the door
- 2:04:32open only to meet face to face with nothing.
- 2:04:38As he frantically looks around the yard while holding the door,
- 2:04:42he notices that the doors knocking apparatus is sticking
- 2:04:45straight out as if someone is holding it.
- 2:04:50It then drops one last time, knocking the door.
- 2:04:54Absolutely petrified, Joe slams the door and locks it.
- 2:04:58As he tries to catch his breath and take several steps
- 2:05:01backwards, he sees the door knob begin to turn.
- 2:05:05Then, without warning, the door bursts open, shattering the
- 2:05:10lock. The open door, yet again,
- 2:05:13reveals no one. After a moment of frozen terror,
- 2:05:17Joe runs outside and into the front yard of his apartment,
- 2:05:21screaming and searching all around for just who could be
- 2:05:24doing this. After several minutes, he stares
- 2:05:28back into the house through the open front door and sees a man
- 2:05:31dressed in all white standing there.
- 2:05:34He's soaked from head to toe in what appears to be water and is
- 2:05:38screaming in a muted voice as if he's being held underwater.
- 2:05:43He then bolts towards Joe and seemingly disappears into a
- 2:05:47mist, frantically calling out to his dog Fred to accompany him,
- 2:05:52Joe frantically makes his way to Rob and Vicki's house on the
- 2:05:55property. He's so terrified that he's
- 2:05:57shaking now, and Rob and Vicki are just as scared.
- 2:06:01They now truly believe that they are dealing with something
- 2:06:04paranormal in nature in order to rationalize the situation and
- 2:06:09make sense of what was taking place.
- 2:06:12They begin to believe that they're experiencing the results
- 2:06:15of the murders conducted by Erb Baumeister, and that his victims
- 2:06:20are either trapped here somehow, or their energy is stuck in an
- 2:06:25endless loop, replaying their final and tragic moments over
- 2:06:30and over and over again. Refusing to return to his
- 2:06:36apartment, Rob and Vicki, being the supportive friends they
- 2:06:40were, agreed that Joe could stay the night with them and together
- 2:06:43they would begin researching online to try and formulate some
- 2:06:47kind of a plan of action of what to do next.
- 2:06:51As they collectively scour the Baumeister case information,
- 2:06:55they find themselves looking at the list of identified victims.
- 2:06:59As they get deeper into the details, Joe is shocked.
- 2:07:03He stops them on a picture of a man in a white shirt.
- 2:07:07That was the man I saw in my apartment who was soaked from
- 2:07:10head to toe and screaming. Although this information still
- 2:07:14scares them, it does help reassure them that they are
- 2:07:18indeed dealing with the victims of this horrendous tragedy.
- 2:07:22They are especially convinced considering many of the remains
- 2:07:26have never been identified, so they continue to research the
- 2:07:29case. After several uneventful days,
- 2:07:33Joe finds himself almost compelled to walk around the
- 2:07:36property with his dog, except this time in broad daylight.
- 2:07:41So apprehensively, he makes his way with Fred to the area where
- 2:07:46both he and Vicki have seen the Man in Red on separate
- 2:07:49occasions. Just past the tree line on The
- 2:07:52Walking path, Joe is stopped by what looks to be a bone.
- 2:07:56He believes that it's impossible that such a bone could have been
- 2:07:59missed during the extensive searches over the years, but
- 2:08:03nonetheless, it was right here, right now, as if it had been
- 2:08:08placed there for him to discover.
- 2:08:10Quickly consulting and showing Rob and Vicki the discovery,
- 2:08:14they too believed that this could be a bone belonging to the
- 2:08:17mysterious Man in Red. They ended up contacting the
- 2:08:20lead detective on the Baumeister case and submitted the bone,
- 2:08:24which turned out to be a human femur bone, in his evidence and
- 2:08:28for analysis. They then requested if the
- 2:08:31investigator himself could come out to the property and explain
- 2:08:35to them just where things had taken place so they could have a
- 2:08:39better understanding of what happened, to which he obliged.
- 2:08:44Several days passed and Joe by this point had made his way back
- 2:08:48to his apartment to try and settle back in given the new
- 2:08:51information. While on his computer checking
- 2:08:54his emails, he began to hear scraping, almost metallic like
- 2:08:58sound originating from the kitchen.
- 2:09:01Upon further examination he sees that all of his butcher knives
- 2:09:05from his knife block have been neatly arranged in his sink,
- 2:09:09placed in a row equally spaced from one another.
- 2:09:13Glancing around the room, he spots fresh deep cuts in the
- 2:09:17wood of the nearby counter cabinet.
- 2:09:20He believes that this could be a sign for one of the victims
- 2:09:23crying for help. He starts to try and figure out
- 2:09:27the mystery. He takes out his phone and
- 2:09:30begins recording, asking probing questions to whoever or whatever
- 2:09:35could be there and hopes of helping them in any way that he
- 2:09:38can. Prior to this, of course, he
- 2:09:41turned off any and all appliances that could.
- 2:09:43Interfere with the. Process.
- 2:09:46He begins by asking a series of questions and doesn't seem to
- 2:09:49get much of anything, at least not audibly.
- 2:09:53But then towards the end of his questions, Fred begins to growl.
- 2:09:57The same eerie growl he had any time they'd experienced
- 2:10:00something previously. Taking this is confirmation that
- 2:10:04perhaps his companion could see or hear something that he
- 2:10:07couldn't, he quickly downloads the audio file and begins to
- 2:10:11listen to it on his computer. And to his shock, he did indeed
- 2:10:17receive a response. This is the clip of the actual
- 2:10:20EVP that was recorded. Who keeps walking in the
- 2:10:24kitchen? He believes he hears the married
- 2:10:30one. But in all of their research,
- 2:10:33all of the victims were young, single gay men.
- 2:10:37The only one who was married was one Herb Baumeister.
- 2:10:41This revelation is startling. He not only believes that the
- 2:10:45victims were trapped within the grounds of Fox Hollow Farm, but
- 2:10:49that perhaps the serial killer himself could too be trapped
- 2:10:53here. What would follow would be
- 2:10:56dozens of paranormal investigations.
- 2:10:59And those investigations would leave the group to believe that
- 2:11:02they were not only dealing with the spirits of the victims
- 2:11:05haunting the grounds, but either a dark entity impersonating
- 2:11:08Baumeister. Or the killer.
- 2:11:10Himself Several years after the events, the Graves family would
- 2:11:15end up selling Fox Hollow Farm, and it would continue to change
- 2:11:19hands over the years since then, leading to multiple new owners
- 2:11:23of the property. And although new information
- 2:11:26doesn't seem to be publicly available, it's still considered
- 2:11:30one of the most haunted places in Indiana, if not the world,
- 2:11:35given its unique and gruesome history.
- 2:11:38An independent film will go on to be made about it called The
- 2:11:41Haunting of Fox Hollow Farm. And Robert Graves, along with
- 2:11:45another man named Richard E Step who led many paranormal
- 2:11:49investigations at Fox Hollow Farm, will Co write a book
- 2:11:53detailing the family's creepy experiences and what they
- 2:11:56believed to be ultimately happening.
- 2:11:59So in conclusion, we know that Herb Baumeister was mentally ill
- 2:12:04ultimately, but what makes this case so strange and so
- 2:12:07compelling to me is that he was an outstanding member of his
- 2:12:11community for the longest time. He was the smiling neighbor, the
- 2:12:16charitable businessman, the happy family man, and overall a
- 2:12:21pillar of normalcy. But behind closed doors, his
- 2:12:25psyche, his soul, contained a darkness that most of us will
- 2:12:30never be able to comprehend, yet alone unravel and understand.
- 2:12:36So could the murderous deeds of a twisted individual trap souls
- 2:12:40on a property and perhaps open some kind of a portal?
- 2:12:45Could the unleashing of such energy, like what is expressed
- 2:12:48in a violent death, contribute to something like this?
- 2:12:51If it wasn't what's known as an intelligent haunting, where the
- 2:12:55spirits are aware of what has happened to them and are indeed
- 2:12:58trapped there, which very well could still be the case.
- 2:13:02And perhaps it could be a residual haunting where the
- 2:13:05events are of such magnitude and strength that they play on a
- 2:13:09loop for all time, but the souls who were involved have long
- 2:13:14since moved on. These are questions that we may
- 2:13:17never have answers to, but all things that we should ponder.
- 2:13:22The one thing is for certain, the malicious calculation of
- 2:13:26Herb Baumeister and the horrendous things that he did to
- 2:13:29the suspected 25 victims at Fox Hollow Farms should never be
- 2:13:34forgotten. They are indeed still
- 2:13:37identifying and using updated technology to identify remains
- 2:13:41that are still being found on the grounds.
- 2:13:44This has happened as recent as November of 2022.
- 2:13:48So if you happen to be a family member of someone that you
- 2:13:50suspect could be connected to this case, just know that my
- 2:13:54heart truly does go out to you. And please contact the Hamilton
- 2:13:59County Coroner's Office. At 317-770-4415.
- 2:14:07Besides remembering what happened, I also urge you to
- 2:14:10please respect the victims and their families, as well as the
- 2:14:13family of her Baumeister if you should ever have anything to do
- 2:14:17with them. Throughout history, it has been
- 2:14:21speculated that many have been plagued by an ancient demonic
- 2:14:26force from Mesopotamia. To more modern times, this evil
- 2:14:33and terrifying entity has said to enter our world and wreak
- 2:14:38havoc upon those who dwell within it.
- 2:14:43When a seemingly normal family disregards the warnings and
- 2:14:47partakes in multiple Ouija board sessions, what happened next
- 2:14:52nearly destroyed them. This is the untold story of the
- 2:14:57demonic Zozo House of Oklahoma and the abhorrent creature that
- 2:15:03stalks its walls. Oklahoma City, a small but
- 2:15:22growing city in the heartland of America, known for blue collar
- 2:15:27work and brick and mortar shops, red dirt and sports would soon
- 2:15:34become known for something much darker.
- 2:15:39A teenager by the name of Darren Evans was growing up here, a
- 2:15:44normal boy by all accounts, doing things that any teenagers
- 2:15:48would enjoy, hanging out with friends, shenanigans here and
- 2:15:54there, and dating girls. He began dating a girl named
- 2:15:59Brandy who attended school with him, and the two often found
- 2:16:04themselves visiting each other as often as they could, whether
- 2:16:08that was walking to and from school and between classes or
- 2:16:14visiting each other's homes. One day, while Brandy's home was
- 2:16:19having some plumbing work done on some pipes located underneath
- 2:16:23the house, the plumber doing the work would soon make a strange
- 2:16:28discovery. Located below the foundation of
- 2:16:32the home, covered in dirt, was an old Ouija board.
- 2:16:37The front letters were partially buried and the back of the board
- 2:16:42was solid black in color. Off to the side of where the
- 2:16:47board was found was an aged planchette.
- 2:16:51What made this finding even more bizarre was that 4 old jars sat
- 2:16:56on the corners of the board, speckled with dirt as well.
- 2:17:02Thinking perhaps the kids had stashed the board away and
- 2:17:06forgot about it, the worker told the young couple after his work
- 2:17:10was done about what he had found.
- 2:17:13And it's from here that things seemingly take a darker turn.
- 2:17:19Upon examining the discovery, they began to brush the dirt
- 2:17:22away from the jars. They were then shocked by what
- 2:17:26they found. Inside each one of the jars,
- 2:17:30sitting on the four corners of the board, were the decaying
- 2:17:34bodies of blackbirds, congealed blood and matter still present.
- 2:17:42Bewildered but intrigued, they sat the jars off to the side and
- 2:17:48picked up the board. As soon as his fingers made
- 2:17:52contact with the board, Darren seemed to have an instant
- 2:17:56connection with it. And with this soon came a
- 2:18:00burning curiosity to examine it. And this curiosity would
- 2:18:05manifest into obsession with this, The couple took the board
- 2:18:12inside the home where they spoke with Brandy's mother.
- 2:18:16She actively practiced the Wiccan religion, but had no idea
- 2:18:21who could have put the board there.
- 2:18:24Several days later. Curious as most teenagers are,
- 2:18:29Darren was an avid music fan. And one night after, for
- 2:18:34building up the courage to do it, he decided he was going to
- 2:18:37contact the deceased singer of the popular band ACDC, a man
- 2:18:43named Ronald Belfort Scott, using the board.
- 2:18:48Scott had passed away from alcohol poisoning in 1980.
- 2:18:53After lighting several candles, laying the board with letters
- 2:18:57facing towards him, and placing the planchette upon the board,
- 2:19:02he began his session. At first nothing seemed to
- 2:19:07happen, but Darren was still feeling this otherworldly
- 2:19:11connection to something within the board itself.
- 2:19:15After trying for half an hour, to his shock and amazement, the
- 2:19:20planchette began to move slowly at 1st and then frantically
- 2:19:27began to move by itself, moving from Z to OZ to O over and over
- 2:19:37and over again, spelling out the name Sozo.
- 2:19:44Shocked and unsure of what or who he had contacted, Darren
- 2:19:49said goodbye in an attempt to end the session.
- 2:19:53Before his eyes he saw the plain chat spell out.
- 2:19:57See. You in hell?
- 2:20:00And then it threw itself across the room.
- 2:20:03A now terrified and bewildered Darren ran out of his room and
- 2:20:07tried to make sense of what had just taken place.
- 2:20:11But this was just the beginning of what was to come.
- 2:20:16It started with horrible night terrors.
- 2:20:19He would wake up unable to move or speak and would hear
- 2:20:24whispering in his ears. These episodes at night were
- 2:20:28soon followed by banging and knocking throughout his house
- 2:20:31during the daytime, as well as a constant feeling as if he was
- 2:20:36being watched by something he couldn't see.
- 2:20:41But despite the presence he was feeling, Darren now sought
- 2:20:45answers to his ever growing list of questions, just what exactly
- 2:20:49he had uncovered. So he continued to hold sessions
- 2:20:54with the board, for better or for worse.
- 2:21:00Darren would later quote this. The sessions now were as intense
- 2:21:05and paranormal as anything I've ever witnessed.
- 2:21:09A deep and terrible moaning could be heard emanating through
- 2:21:12the walls. After these sessions I developed
- 2:21:16sleep paralysis and became reclusive to society in general.
- 2:21:22I was once again messing with Zozo and Ouija boards, despite
- 2:21:27the terrors of my earlier sessions in which I had promised
- 2:21:30myself I would never do it again.
- 2:21:33But again. And again I did.
- 2:21:38When not in use, the board was kept in a purple silk cloth and
- 2:21:43stored in his bedroom closet. It would also often go missing,
- 2:21:49sometimes for days on end. When checking back where he had
- 2:21:53placed it in order to set up and initiate a new session, the
- 2:21:58board would seemingly vanish, only to reappear at random times
- 2:22:04as if it was the one calling the shots of when it could be seen
- 2:22:09and used. The years came in when and the
- 2:22:14sessions on the Mystical Ouija board continued.
- 2:22:19Darren by this time started inviting his friends to partake
- 2:22:22in the sessions, and although their sessions with him would
- 2:22:26prove he's not insane, it's of little consolation considering
- 2:22:31the tragedy they would seemingly manifest later on.
- 2:22:36Darren's best friend was a man by the name of Randy.
- 2:22:40The two had bonded over their love for the band ACDC in high
- 2:22:44school and had been inseparable ever since.
- 2:22:48Randy's idol also being the late Bon Scott, whose lifestyle
- 2:22:53seemingly imprinted upon the youthful teens Once Upon a time
- 2:22:58and perhaps would ultimately lead to the downfall of one of
- 2:23:02them. By now, Darren was living in his
- 2:23:06own apartment and working construction at a job site he
- 2:23:10was on. He would make a strange but
- 2:23:13familiar discovery. As he was digging down into the
- 2:23:18earth, he found what appeared to be a jar.
- 2:23:22Upon picking it up to discard it, he wiped away the dirt and
- 2:23:26debris only to be shocked by its familiar contents.
- 2:23:32Loan and behold, within the jar was a congealed and rotting
- 2:23:37Blackbird, extremely similar if not identical to the ones
- 2:23:42initially found alongside the Ouija board under underneath his
- 2:23:47high school girlfriend's home all those years ago.
- 2:23:51It was particularly weird, not just because of this, but the
- 2:23:56fact that he had found it digging down deep into the
- 2:24:00earth. He wondered what were the odds
- 2:24:03of this, and although he had no way of knowing for sure, his gut
- 2:24:08began to tell him that there was some kind of witchcraft or a
- 2:24:12cold expertise at play here. Perhaps someone or a group of
- 2:24:18people were knowingly contacting this entity known as Zozo.
- 2:24:23But for what remained to be known, one evening in 1985,
- 2:24:30Darren and Randy were relaxing at Darren's apartment when they
- 2:24:34decided to host a session on the Ouija board.
- 2:24:37Randy, more than anything, wanted to try and make contact
- 2:24:41with his late idol, Bon Scott while wearing a Highway to Hell
- 2:24:47ACDC shirt. Randy's intent was clear.
- 2:24:52The two dimmed the lights, lit a couple of candles, and began the
- 2:24:57session upon the board. They made contact within a few
- 2:25:01minutes once the planchette was moving.
- 2:25:06Randy exclaimed. We want to talk to Bon Scott of
- 2:25:11ACDC. With this sentence, the planchet
- 2:25:15seemingly obliged. It moved in circles, eventually
- 2:25:21spelling out a YEMATE. The 2 looked at each other in
- 2:25:28amazement. The entity was using Australian
- 2:25:31dialects, and for anyone who doesn't know, Bon Scott was
- 2:25:36Australian. After several more questions,
- 2:25:41both of the young men were convinced they were speaking
- 2:25:43with their idol. The spirit seemed to know every
- 2:25:46little detail to any question they asked during the session.
- 2:25:52The entity then made a strange request from the men.
- 2:25:55It asked them to light a cigarette and place it in the
- 2:25:59hole in the planchette. What proceeded to make both of
- 2:26:03them laugh also made them quite spooked as well.
- 2:26:07So they lit a couple cigarettes, one for each of them and one for
- 2:26:12this entity. They took a few drags to keep it
- 2:26:16lit and then placed it cherry side up in the Blanchette hole.
- 2:26:21The Blanchette then spelled out thanks.
- 2:26:24They then watched an utter amazement as the cherry of the
- 2:26:28cigarette lit up as if Bon himself was taking puffs off of
- 2:26:34him. But this amusement was short
- 2:26:37lived. Once the cigarette had seemingly
- 2:26:41been smoked, playing Chet began to spell something very
- 2:26:45different. It's spelled F you Randy.
- 2:26:50I will have your soul and I'll see you in hell, Zeo.
- 2:26:57Zeo terrified the men quickly into the session by saying
- 2:27:02goodbye and tossing the board outside the second story
- 2:27:06apartment balcony door. Clearly scared and upset, Randy
- 2:27:12also didn't take kindly to threats.
- 2:27:15He began cussing out Zozo with complete and utter rage.
- 2:27:20The board would later be returned by his downstairs
- 2:27:23neighbor and after this session, a series of lows for both of the
- 2:27:28men seemed to manifest in the years to come.
- 2:27:32Influenced by the lifestyle of his idol, Randy fell victim to
- 2:27:36alcoholism. He soon would lose his wife to
- 2:27:40divorce and have split custody with his son.
- 2:27:45And although many opportunities presented themselves for Randy
- 2:27:48to better his life, for one reason or another, he was always
- 2:27:53just too far away to be able to grasp them.
- 2:27:56He often said to Darren, I feel like I'm in a prison and I can't
- 2:28:02escape for old time's sake. The two did one last Ouija board
- 2:28:07session together in 2005, in which Randy asked the board how
- 2:28:13he would die. The board responded in a car at
- 2:28:19night alone. In 2007, after spending the
- 2:28:24evening with Darren, the last words he would say to him were
- 2:28:29Darren, I will see you in hell. The next morning, Darren
- 2:28:34received a phone call from Randy's girlfriend Alicia,
- 2:28:38saying that Randy never made it home after he left.
- 2:28:42Instead, he had passed away in a violent head on collision,
- 2:28:47ultimately passing away in a car at night and alone.
- 2:28:54This devastating passing, along with the frequent contact with
- 2:28:57the entity known as Zozo over the years, led to a fascination
- 2:29:03and borderline obsession with the search for answers for
- 2:29:06Darren Evans. During the time before and after
- 2:29:11Randy's death, he had been living in a home in Oklahoma
- 2:29:14City, OK that would become synonymous with the demon's
- 2:29:19name. It was here that the worst
- 2:29:22afflictions brought on by the entity would take place to him
- 2:29:27and his family. Darren's fascination with the
- 2:29:30occult led him to hanging on to and possessing multiple Ouija
- 2:29:35boards and other various occult objects.
- 2:29:39It was here that he began to study on a much more in depth
- 2:29:43and organized basis, just trying to figure out who or what Zozo
- 2:29:49was. But this research would soon be
- 2:29:52interrupted and this home lived himself, his wife Kathleen, and
- 2:29:59their young daughter at the time.
- 2:30:02During a session with his wife Kathleen one evening while their
- 2:30:06daughter slept rooms away, Zozo would once again make itself
- 2:30:12present in their lives, but this time seemed to take possession
- 2:30:17of Darren. Kathleen trembled with fear and
- 2:30:21bated breath as something stared at her through Darren's eyes.
- 2:30:27Something that clearly wasn't human.
- 2:30:30He then turned violent, attempting to attack her.
- 2:30:35Fortunately for Kathleen, she was able to say goodbye and get
- 2:30:40away before any harm could be done to her.
- 2:30:43Several minutes later, Darren would come back to himself with
- 2:30:48no memory of what had taken place.
- 2:30:52After this session, things seemed to escalate in intensity.
- 2:30:59Sounds began to rap throughout the entire home, from knocking
- 2:31:04to hissing, footsteps and banging, all seemingly with no
- 2:31:11explainable origin. The family got so terrified that
- 2:31:17they sectioned off a particular bedroom upstairs, calling it
- 2:31:21their safe room. One night, however, not everyone
- 2:31:26was within the safe room. Suddenly, an overwhelming sense
- 2:31:32of terror creeped upon Darren as he was trying to sleep.
- 2:31:36He rushed to the safe room to attempt to stop what he was
- 2:31:40feeling, but quickly realizing he couldn't leave his family
- 2:31:44behind, he rushed back out of the room and then attempt to
- 2:31:48gather them and bring them to safety as well.
- 2:31:53As he was heading towards the stairs, his daughter had heard
- 2:31:56his cries and was now at the foot of the stairs.
- 2:32:02It was here that Darren saw her being lifted by invisible hands
- 2:32:06into the air and carried away from him, screaming for his
- 2:32:13child as she screamed for her father.
- 2:32:16Darren ran down the stairs as fast as he possibly could but
- 2:32:21couldn't see her anywhere. Insight.
- 2:32:24He then heard her muffled screams coming from the
- 2:32:27basement. At first the door was locked and
- 2:32:32wouldn't open, but after adrenaline and brute force,
- 2:32:36Darren thankfully was able to open it.
- 2:32:39He then retrieved his hysterical child and brought her to the
- 2:32:44safety of the safe room. Once inside the room, the family
- 2:32:49huddled together in fear as they continued to hear movement and
- 2:32:53noises all throughout the house. After this abhorrent nightmare
- 2:32:58of a situation, the family knew they had to get out of the
- 2:33:01house. This situation and the many
- 2:33:05other paranormal experiences had led to a lifelong fascination
- 2:33:09for Darren Evans with the occult and finding out just exactly
- 2:33:15what Sozo is. But was it worth jeopardizing
- 2:33:19his family's safety? It took some time, but the
- 2:33:24family would soon relocate to another home.
- 2:33:27And once his family was safe, Darren was able to continue his
- 2:33:32deep dive into the unknown to try and track down and decipher
- 2:33:37just what this entity could be and where it came from.
- 2:33:42And although he knew the topic was vast, I think it went far
- 2:33:47deeper than he ever anticipated. Whilst trying to dig up more
- 2:33:51information, he posted his experiences to an old paranormal
- 2:33:56forum in 2009. And since then many, many people
- 2:34:03have shared their experiences with the demonic force, many of
- 2:34:09which have been documented and compared by Darren himself on
- 2:34:13his website. But these experiences are not
- 2:34:17just a 21st or even 20th century phenomenon, they date back far
- 2:34:23older than that. Not every fine detail will be
- 2:34:26mentioned here, but I will do my best to list the most important
- 2:34:30details that I could find in regards to the origin of Zozo.
- 2:34:36According to Darren and other online sources, Zozo in the old
- 2:34:42Basque language means Blackbird or crow.
- 2:34:46The Zoe people of Haiti practiced a form of voodoo whose
- 2:34:50rituals involve horrific scarification as well as the
- 2:34:55intake and passing around of bodily fluids and bizarre
- 2:34:59rituals. Their witch doctors are called
- 2:35:03Zozo and wear demonic looking masks as part of their death
- 2:35:08ritual. When someone is passing away,
- 2:35:12they lift up the mask at the moment of death to take in the
- 2:35:16person's final breath. This is apparently done to
- 2:35:20absorb the soul of the person to gain more spiritual power.
- 2:35:25Zozo, also in the Malay language, is the same as it is
- 2:35:29in English, but it translates to wandering spirit, which is a
- 2:35:34spirit they believe to steal people's souls while they sleep,
- 2:35:39which is also bizarre because sleep is often considered the
- 2:35:43cousin of death. Zozo has been called the
- 2:35:47minister of deception. It is known to convince you that
- 2:35:51it is a deceased loved one or friend or even someone you've
- 2:35:55idolized, when in reality it's not.
- 2:36:01Sessions typically start out friendly and inviting but soon
- 2:36:06turn malevolent and dangerous. During his research over the
- 2:36:11years, Derren made contact with and spoke to famous demonologist
- 2:36:16John Zappos, who shared with him that in his experience of over
- 2:36:2240 years of studying the demonic and paranormal, the name Zozo
- 2:36:27and other pseudonyms of its name kept coming up in his
- 2:36:30investigations, which too led him to seek answers as to what
- 2:36:35it could be. And some of those
- 2:36:38investigations, when questioned, the demon stated that it was the
- 2:36:42son of Satan himself. But Zapfis thinks perhaps is
- 2:36:48with many deities that seem to be lurking in the shadows, Zozo
- 2:36:52could be an entity that's existed far before the founding
- 2:36:56of Christianity. Besides evidence showing up in
- 2:37:00Africa and Egypt, there's also evidence found linking Zozo to
- 2:37:05ancient Mesopotamia as well. Other names Zozo has gone by
- 2:37:11throughout the ages have been Zuzu, Zaza, and Mama, among many
- 2:37:17others. The name Zuzu could refer to
- 2:37:22Pazuzu, the famed demon from the film The Exorcist, which in
- 2:37:27reality was a demonic entity from ancient Mesopotamian
- 2:37:30religion. It's incredibly strange to note
- 2:37:34the following as well. Zozo was replaced in the story
- 2:37:38of the exorcism of Roland Doe and Peter Blatty was using it as
- 2:37:43inspiration to write The Exorcist.
- 2:37:46He changed Zozo to Pazuzu. Zozo is believed to be the demon
- 2:37:53that possessed Roland. It was described as a terrifying
- 2:37:57form that first appeared in the Neo Assyrian period, roughly
- 2:38:02around 934 to 610 BC. It had a monstrous head
- 2:38:08resembling A fierce lion or a dog with horns, and had an
- 2:38:14emaciated human body with clawed hands, a scorpion's tail, and
- 2:38:20two sets of wings, One translation reads.
- 2:38:26I am Pazuzu, the son of Hambu, king of the Lilu demons.
- 2:38:33I have scaled the powerful mountains.
- 2:38:35They trembled. The contrary winds were headed
- 2:38:39West 1 by 1. I broke their wings.
- 2:38:45Pazuzu and other demons like it were held responsible for
- 2:38:49ailments like disease, fetal death, nightmares, and much
- 2:38:55more. Could it be?
- 2:38:57That this ancient demonic force is what could be plaguing people
- 2:39:00all the way into modern times. The demon Zozo is also mentioned
- 2:39:07in the French Demonic Encyclopedia is one of the
- 2:39:10demons responsible for diabolical possession and
- 2:39:14corruption. The possession of a young girl
- 2:39:18in 1816 is noted as a documented case where Zozo, among several
- 2:39:25other demons were present. Other noteworthy possession
- 2:39:29cases over the ages, ranging closer to modern times that
- 2:39:33bears Ozo's name other than the exorcism of Rolling Doe in the
- 2:39:371950s, are the possession of Doris Blither in 1972 in Los
- 2:39:44Angeles, the Enfield Poltergeist incident in 1977 in the UK, and
- 2:39:52as recent as 2012 where a possession incident led to an
- 2:39:57attempted murder. Other theories with how this
- 2:40:02entity could communicate with so many people so quickly and
- 2:40:06across the globe over the years besides supernatural ability of
- 2:40:10its own, would be that its own reach is perhaps being
- 2:40:14strengthened by an agrigor or a collective group of thought form
- 2:40:20created by occultists for a certain purpose.
- 2:40:26However this seems unlikely considering the entity doesn't
- 2:40:29seem to serve any human interest other than to destroy the person
- 2:40:35or people's lives it makes contact with.
- 2:40:39Agrigors are typically formed to bring control over a summon
- 2:40:42deity for the person or groups bidding.
- 2:40:47But perhaps instead there is a cold worshipping Zozo?
- 2:40:50I mean, that would make more sense to me.
- 2:40:54People who have made contact with the entity via spirit or
- 2:40:58Ouija board have also been asked to chant or spell out phrases in
- 2:41:02Hebrew or Latin, which has convinced many of the
- 2:41:06intelligence of the being they're speaking with.
- 2:41:10What is also interesting is that the letter Z was actually
- 2:41:14removed from the original Latin alphabet because it was
- 2:41:18considered too evil when pronouncing it.
- 2:41:21It was said that one's face would make a death's grimace
- 2:41:25like that of a corpse, and that it mimicked the letter S like an
- 2:41:30evil twin. Perhaps the entity uses this
- 2:41:34name as some sort of mocking, whether to God or something
- 2:41:39else. One may also ask, despite the
- 2:41:43origin, theories, and historical details that could be linked to
- 2:41:47this ancient demonic force, how would one know if they
- 2:41:51encountered such a thing? These are what's known as Zozo's
- 2:41:55calling cards when it's being summoned using a Ouija board.
- 2:42:00The obvious is there that the planchette will begin to move on
- 2:42:04its own, but some less obvious signs are there as well and are
- 2:42:10as follows. The planchette will move in a
- 2:42:13rainbow pattern from side to side, spelling ZOZO over and
- 2:42:20over again, also known as the rainbow effect.
- 2:42:25It can also move in repeating Figure 8 movements like an
- 2:42:30Infinity sign. The planchet will spell out
- 2:42:33various versions of the demon's name, like Zozo, Zoso, Zaza,
- 2:42:41Zuzu, or Mama. You may also begin to see
- 2:42:45shadows moving around the area where you were hosting the
- 2:42:48session, like you're seeing through the thinnest sheet and
- 2:42:53to a Dark World that exists just behind your vision.
- 2:42:58And you and whoever you may be with may start to feel scared,
- 2:43:03uneasy, or upset, seemingly for no other reason.
- 2:43:09Before or after this takes place when you tell this entity
- 2:43:14goodbye. Typically the best way to close
- 2:43:18a session, it may not truly be goodbye because often times,
- 2:43:24depending on how long the session has been for, like an
- 2:43:28ever widening door, the entity may have had just enough time to
- 2:43:32sneak in to begin to wreak havoc upon your life.
- 2:43:37And thus begins what many demonologists and religious
- 2:43:41leaders alike call demonic obsession, which is where the
- 2:43:44entity becomes aware of you and begins to crave you, which then
- 2:43:50leads to oppression or begins to inflict various forms of torture
- 2:43:55upon you in an effort to break you down, whether that's
- 2:43:59physically, psychologically, or spiritually.
- 2:44:05It will also work to isolate you from others, especially those
- 2:44:09who care about you. And finally, if you're
- 2:44:13incredibly unlucky, possession or the entity finally takes
- 2:44:18control of you as its vessel. All of which to me, are
- 2:44:24absolutely terrifying in every imaginable way.
- 2:44:29Darren Evans to this day continues to research the Zozo
- 2:44:32Phenomena, having been involved in the number of paranormal
- 2:44:36investigations, shows, and various other public and private
- 2:44:41events, as well as radio shows and podcasts, many of which he
- 2:44:47goes into various degrees of details regarding his
- 2:44:49encounters, other people's encounters, and other various
- 2:44:54historical details. He also in 2016 compiled his
- 2:44:59year's worth of research and experiences into a book, also
- 2:45:03titled The Zozo Phenomena, which you can read and learn more
- 2:45:07about the entity and the topic as a whole.
- 2:45:10If you're interested, I'll link it below.
- 2:45:14I also pulled a lot of this information from various
- 2:45:17interviews, which I'll also be linking below, as well as an
- 2:45:21older website he runs that doesn't seem to have been
- 2:45:24updated in a while, but supplied me with much information to get
- 2:45:28the story as cohesive as I possibly could.
- 2:45:32I also sourced the photos of the apparitions from the site, some
- 2:45:36of which were taken by Evans himself over the years.
- 2:45:41So does this demon or ancient force truly exist?
- 2:45:46Is it some kind of elder God, a pre Christian deity or being or
- 2:45:52manifestation of occult or Luciferian practices?
- 2:45:57Did Darren Evans just make it up and did thousands of people find
- 2:46:02it interesting enough to make up their own stories and partake in
- 2:46:06a mass charade that has lasted years?
- 2:46:09All of these answers may never truly be known, but my opinion
- 2:46:13is this I think not only given the wide array of strange
- 2:46:18coincidences and details throughout history.
- 2:46:22From the origins to the stories of this creature existing in
- 2:46:26distant past to the present, to literally thousands of people.
- 2:46:31From casual interest in the occult, to more hardcore
- 2:46:35fanatics, religious scholars, demonologists, and more claiming
- 2:46:42to have had experiences with this thing.
- 2:46:45With all of these details in mind, I certainly think it very
- 2:46:49well could be real. I do think there are things that
- 2:46:52exist in the shadows, things we can't see or touch that are
- 2:46:57there watching and waiting to strike when and if the
- 2:47:03opportunity presents itself. So my advice to all of you to
- 2:47:08avoid any possibility of opening a door that you can't close and
- 2:47:13inviting evil into your life is this.
- 2:47:17Don't mess with Ouija boards. These things are not toys.
- 2:47:22Whether you believe it or not, these entities do exist and they
- 2:47:27believe in you. So keep away from them, because
- 2:47:31you might just let something in that won't want to leave even if
- 2:47:36you say goodbye. Lying dormant within the streets
- 2:47:46of suburbia, there is an unseen evil.
- 2:47:50Like a mouse falling into a pit of snakes, an unsuspecting
- 2:47:55family disturbed a slumbering force and became enshrouded in a
- 2:48:00fog of darkness. This is the untold story of the
- 2:48:06Bel Air House and the terrifying malevolent entities that dwell
- 2:48:11within its walls. Bellaire, OH, an area rich in
- 2:48:18history, was once known as Glass City.
- 2:48:21Having once been a major glass production hub in the late 1800s
- 2:48:27is now known as the All American town, having been used in many
- 2:48:32Hollywood productions as a backdrop for lots of movies,
- 2:48:36some of which you've probably seen over the years.
- 2:48:40The town that epitomizes small America's daily life has long
- 2:48:45since moved past its industrial days and has become known for
- 2:48:49something else. On the outskirts of the town
- 2:48:53lies an old two-story Victorian home that has become famous over
- 2:48:57the recent years, both among locals as well as across the
- 2:49:02country, with some saying it could be the most haunted place
- 2:49:06in the United States, if not the world.
- 2:49:10This is a bold statement to say the least, but the countless
- 2:49:14visitors to the house have reported strange, disturbing,
- 2:49:18and unexplainable encounters within its antique walls.
- 2:49:23But just how did the story begin?
- 2:49:26Where did the legend of the Bel Air House originate from?
- 2:49:29Let us first take a look at the home's dark history.
- 2:49:34Built in 1887 by a coal tycoon named Jacob Hetherington, the
- 2:49:40house sits adjacent from ancient Native American burial caves.
- 2:49:45It is also located where the scene of a massacre took place
- 2:49:49during the French and Indian War.
- 2:49:53It would sit on top of an active coal mine for years.
- 2:49:56Before. There was a major explosion that
- 2:50:00took place within the mine, killing multiple men working
- 2:50:04deep within the earth directly underneath the house.
- 2:50:08Could the culmination of these tragic deaths have opened up a
- 2:50:11portal within the Bel Air house? A portal that allowed something
- 2:50:16to come through that wasn't supposed to be here?
- 2:50:20Shortly after this explosion is when the strange activity began.
- 2:50:25Jacob's son Alex moved into the home with his daughter.
- 2:50:29Lied, but was soon stricken with seizures and hallucinations.
- 2:50:35He would ultimately be committed to an insane asylum for the rest
- 2:50:39of his life, claiming that demons were trying to kill him.
- 2:50:45As time progressed, Lyde would take charge of the family
- 2:50:48business, being helped by her younger brother Edwin.
- 2:50:53Lyde would tragically and unexpectedly pass away. 1
- 2:50:56morning and the kitchen of the home.
- 2:51:00Edwin, now alone and grief stricken, descended into
- 2:51:04mysticism and the occult in search of answers.
- 2:51:09He began to regularly host seances in the kitchen where his
- 2:51:13sister had passed away to attempt to make contact with her
- 2:51:18on the other side, and it is believed that contact was indeed
- 2:51:22made, but with who or what is uncertain.
- 2:51:28In 2005, Kristen Lee and her family are desperate for a new
- 2:51:33home. Like a curse, for the second
- 2:51:36time in less than two years, a flash flood has destroyed their
- 2:51:40home and all of their possessions.
- 2:51:43Kristen, her two sons, Nicholas and Lane, along with their
- 2:51:48father Hefe, have been fortunate enough to room with friends
- 2:51:52during this difficult time. Kristen has continued to try and
- 2:51:56get the family back on their feet and no longer wants to
- 2:52:00burden her friends with the boarding of her family.
- 2:52:04So she constantly checks the real estate listings hoping to
- 2:52:07find a home that her and her family can finally settle down
- 2:52:11into. Given the circumstances, the
- 2:52:14family didn't have a big budget and would have to rebuild their
- 2:52:18lives from scratch. But soon her determination seems
- 2:52:23to pay off. While at work, Kristen often
- 2:52:27browses real estate websites for new listings as well as
- 2:52:30foreclosures and a new listing soon catches her eye.
- 2:52:36Recently foreclosed on but now available for purchase, she lays
- 2:52:40eyes on the old Victorian home for the first time.
- 2:52:44It's 4 bedrooms and two bathroom setup along with plenty of room
- 2:52:49would be perfect for her family. The price seems almost too good
- 2:52:53to be true for her budget as well, and although the listing
- 2:52:57lacks more details, it's like her prayers had finally been
- 2:53:02answered. But by what?
- 2:53:05Not wanting to lose the property, Kristen arranges a
- 2:53:09showing of the home as soon as possible and before too long
- 2:53:13finds herself on the front steps of the Bel Air house.
- 2:53:18She is immediately taken in by the beautiful craftsmanship of
- 2:53:22the woodwork. The wrap around porch facing the
- 2:53:25Ohio River soon has her imagining peaceful evenings
- 2:53:29watching the water flow. Upon entering the home, she
- 2:53:33continues to be impressed. Old marble and cherry wood
- 2:53:38ordained the interior. Of the home.
- 2:53:40And it seems almost too perfect, like something straight out of
- 2:53:44her dreams. The family also has a dog named
- 2:53:48Bella, and the large fenced in backyard is perfect for her to
- 2:53:52run in and the boys to play in. Dumbfounded by her luck, Kristen
- 2:53:58puts in an offer on the House that evening and it's accepted
- 2:54:02the following morning. After two years of chaos and
- 2:54:06uncertainty, the Lee family can finally breathe again and start
- 2:54:11living a normal life. But just as all seems quiet and
- 2:54:15settled, the family begins to discover that the house is
- 2:54:19anything but normal at first. Upon hearing odd noises in the
- 2:54:24night, the family wrote off the sounds as nothing more than
- 2:54:28anxiety and an old house. Being slightly scared or anxious
- 2:54:33upon moving into a new place, particularly following a very
- 2:54:36uncertain time in one's life, is not out of the ordinary.
- 2:54:41But these sounds soon become too much to dismiss.
- 2:54:44They soon begin to hear footsteps at all hours of the
- 2:54:47day and night. Kristen would later describe the
- 2:54:50activity as so. I would hear footsteps above and
- 2:54:54sometimes below me, even when there was no one else home but
- 2:54:58me. And I always felt as if there
- 2:55:00were thousands of eyes staring at me at all times, watching my
- 2:55:05every move. Along with the strange noises,
- 2:55:09items soon begin to go missing. From keys to towels to trinkets.
- 2:55:151 moment they would be there and within seconds they would
- 2:55:19vanish. And Kristen isn't the only one
- 2:55:22experiencing strange happenings within the Bel Air house at the
- 2:55:26time. Her 12 year old son Nicholas
- 2:55:29begins to experience a malevolent force that seems to
- 2:55:32dwell within his bedroom. At first, he too begins to feel
- 2:55:37as if he's being watched at all times, and it seems to get
- 2:55:41exponentially worse at night. He begins to have night terrors,
- 2:55:46feeling someone or something covering his mouth and nose,
- 2:55:51forcing him to suffocate. One night, he wakes up in a cold
- 2:55:55sweat. It's storming outside.
- 2:55:59Flashes of lightning occasionally light up the room.
- 2:56:02What he sees disturbs him to his core.
- 2:56:07In the corner of his room towards his closet.
- 2:56:11As a burst of light fills the room, he sees a blackened figure
- 2:56:15staring at him and shaking profusely.
- 2:56:20The young boy is utterly terrified, rushing out of his
- 2:56:24room as fast as he possibly can. He wakes up his mother and
- 2:56:29refuses to sleep there any longer.
- 2:56:32The boy is so hysterical, the only solution was to send him to
- 2:56:36his grandmother's house, located 30 minutes away.
- 2:56:40What makes this case all the more compelling is that Kristen
- 2:56:44has a master's degree in psychology and works as a mental
- 2:56:48health physician. With this, her professional
- 2:56:52opinion of what Nicholas had experienced was initially
- 2:56:55contributed to stress and fatigue, both common factors
- 2:56:59that tend to make the human mind see and experience things that
- 2:57:03aren't really there. And these probably could explain
- 2:57:07many similar situations, and most would agree.
- 2:57:11However, Kristin's view would soon undergo A radical change
- 2:57:16after one terrifying experience of her own.
- 2:57:20After months of strange happenings within the home, it
- 2:57:23was now winter and the Lee family, still tied on finances,
- 2:57:29was sleeping in the basement near the fireplace to save money
- 2:57:33on the gas bill. Hefe was asleep in a recliner
- 2:57:37and Lane as well as Kristen were asleep on the wrap around couch
- 2:57:41located in the corner of the room.
- 2:57:44All seemed normal until Kristen was woken up by the feeling of
- 2:57:49the couch cushion being pressed down near her legs.
- 2:57:53She then found herself face to face with a terrifying figure of
- 2:57:58a man staring directly at her. She would later describe the
- 2:58:02encounter as So I woke up being face to face with this Gray
- 2:58:07figure of a man. He was translucent, almost like
- 2:58:11a mist, but the mist had features like a person.
- 2:58:17The face was completely emotionless and had dark sunken
- 2:58:21in eyes. Kristen asked who are you?
- 2:58:25What are you doing here? What do you want?
- 2:58:29But to no response, just a blank, lifeless stare.
- 2:58:35Within seconds the apparition disappears, but before she can
- 2:58:40ponder what had just taken place, the silence is once again
- 2:58:44shattered. But by this time it was the
- 2:58:47family dog, Bella, who was barking and running around the
- 2:58:52room. Kristen, attempting to keep her
- 2:58:55family asleep through the ordeal, tries to quiet the dog
- 2:58:58down and notices that she can see her breath.
- 2:59:01In the air. And although it's cold outside,
- 2:59:05it's not nearly that cold near the fireplace.
- 2:59:09She then sees the figure materialize once more and
- 2:59:12silently moved from one side of the room and through the wall on
- 2:59:16the other side, vanishing completely.
- 2:59:20No longer wanting to face whatever this was alone, she
- 2:59:24woke up her husband and told him what had just taken place.
- 2:59:28His response, however, was that she was too tired and needed to
- 2:59:33go back to sleep. Could what Kristen had
- 2:59:37experienced been a stress or fatigue induced hallucination?
- 2:59:41Perhaps, but someone with a professional background such as
- 2:59:45herself surely would know how to differentiate, wouldn't you
- 2:59:49think? Finally, knowing she's not crazy
- 2:59:53and totally convinced that the home was haunted, Kristen begins
- 2:59:57to try and make plans to get her family out of the Bel Air house.
- 3:00:02And to safety elsewhere. As soon as she can, she puts the
- 3:00:07home up for sale and moves the family to a nearby rental home.
- 3:00:12Although she's relieved to no longer physically be in the
- 3:00:15house, no one is buying it to try and cover expenses.
- 3:00:20She has no other choice other than to make the house a rental
- 3:00:23property. But almost as soon as the first
- 3:00:26family moves in, they move out and this kick starts a revolving
- 3:00:31door of tenants seemingly stuck with the house.
- 3:00:36Kristen comes to the conclusion that no family will or should
- 3:00:39live there. So what should be done with a
- 3:00:42haunted property? Needing to make ends meet, she
- 3:00:46comes up with a unique idea. She turns the home into an
- 3:00:49afterlife research property. This would allow various groups
- 3:00:54to come in conduct their own research on just what exactly
- 3:00:58was taking place within the Bel Air House.
- 3:01:02And the idea works. Soon groups from all over the
- 3:01:06United States and Canada are travelling to temporarily live
- 3:01:10within the home to conduct research.
- 3:01:14And from here we gain some more interesting stories, to say the
- 3:01:18least. One group, who calls themselves
- 3:01:22the Armchair Researchers from upstate New York, consists of
- 3:01:26two women, one being a birthing nurse and the other a nurse who
- 3:01:31works with dying patients. They found paranormal and
- 3:01:35afterlife research to be a natural extension of their day
- 3:01:39jobs for the last 15 years. After hearing about the Bel Air
- 3:01:44house, they soon find themselves driving to Ohio to investigate
- 3:01:49the phenomena for themselves. First impressions tend to go a
- 3:01:53long way, and the first impression the women got upon
- 3:01:56their arrival was very creepy. The home by this point was in a
- 3:02:01moderate state of decay. The fence that had once
- 3:02:05surrounded the backyard was mostly blown down, and the
- 3:02:09exterior of the home as well as the porch was weathered and
- 3:02:14rotting. But despite the odd feelings
- 3:02:17initially, they make their way inside now.
- 3:02:21At first they actually felt welcomed, almost invited in,
- 3:02:26greeted by the same cherry wood interior that has greeted
- 3:02:29everyone. But as soon as they set up their
- 3:02:32equipment and prepare for their stay, as day turns to night,
- 3:02:37there seems to be a shift in energy within the home.
- 3:02:41The shift went from warm and inviting to dark and ominous.
- 3:02:47Then began the noises, the banging footsteps and the moving
- 3:02:53of furniture. The ladies also noted the
- 3:02:56feeling of being watched everywhere they went while
- 3:02:59asking probing questions. As they wandered throughout the
- 3:03:02house, they would soon also witness strange lights in
- 3:03:06various parts of the home. And along with the lights, there
- 3:03:10soon also came full blown apparitions, all of which seem
- 3:03:15to be centered around the basement.
- 3:03:17And as the night progressed, so did their feelings of anxiety.
- 3:03:23While taking a short break and sitting down on one of the
- 3:03:25couches in the basement, the two heard what they described as a
- 3:03:29large crashing noise above them, as if someone or something had
- 3:03:34thrown a bookshelf across the house itself, shaking the entire
- 3:03:39home. Absolutely terrified and
- 3:03:42panicked, the women apprehensively made their way up
- 3:03:45the stairs and rushed out of the home as fast as they possibly
- 3:03:49could, leaving behind equipment and personal items they were too
- 3:03:55frightened to go back. Upon learning of what had taken
- 3:03:59place, Kristen wasn't at all surprised.
- 3:04:02Over the years, there have been dozens of teams of people who
- 3:04:05couldn't seem to last the night for one experience or another.
- 3:04:09People have been scratched, pushed down stairs, punched,
- 3:04:14bitten, and even in one instance thrown across the room by a
- 3:04:20violent and unseen force. Another noteworthy story comes
- 3:04:25from a team located locally there in Ohio.
- 3:04:28They have had the opportunity to visit the home and conduct
- 3:04:32investigations numerous times over the years, but their
- 3:04:36experience, in particular one night, truly makes me question
- 3:04:40just what exactly haunts the Bel Air House.
- 3:04:44There was three of them this time, and it was shortly after
- 3:04:47midnight when they made their way into the attic to continue
- 3:04:50their investigation. During their questioning, they
- 3:04:54seemed to be getting direct interaction with something
- 3:04:57through their spirit box. Then towards the corner of the
- 3:05:01attic, a mist seemed to materialize coming up from the
- 3:05:06attic floor, slowly enveloping the group.
- 3:05:10Glancing down, they were now too stunned to speak.
- 3:05:14They saw what appeared to be thousands of black snake like
- 3:05:18creatures, Slytherin, over their feet and onto their legs.
- 3:05:24The creatures then began to form a figure standing in front of
- 3:05:28one of the attic windows, a creature of pure darkness that
- 3:05:32seemed to stare at them with thousands of tiny beady eyes.
- 3:05:39The crew, which consisted of two men and a woman, ran for their
- 3:05:43lives, descending the attic stairs as quickly as possible,
- 3:05:48leaving behind anything and everything that they had brought
- 3:05:51with them that wasn't located on their person and out of the home
- 3:05:55for good. All of these stories and
- 3:05:58experiences have led many to believe that the Bel Air House
- 3:06:02is some kind of magnet for paranormal activity.
- 3:06:06A magnet or a host to a portal for spirits, whether that portal
- 3:06:11was opened by the tragedy that took place within the mind that
- 3:06:14once existed below its foundation, or one that was open
- 3:06:18due to seances being conducted within the house on multiple
- 3:06:23occasions. But over the years, many
- 3:06:26different entities have been documented from what appear to
- 3:06:29be human ghosts to perhaps something more sinister.
- 3:06:34One such entity goes by the name of Emily Davis.
- 3:06:38It is believed that Emily Davis was a child that drowned in the
- 3:06:42Ohio River that flows right by the home.
- 3:06:46Her room is allegedly the same room that Kristin's son Nicholas
- 3:06:50once stayed in. And besides the basement, it
- 3:06:54also seems to be a hotspot for paranormal activity.
- 3:06:59Through various investigations, once contact has been made and
- 3:07:03trust seems to be gained, people are often attacked, which have
- 3:07:08led many to believe that Emily isn't a child at all, but a
- 3:07:12demon. Perhaps it could be the same
- 3:07:16demonic creature that frightened Nicholas so bad that he moved
- 3:07:20out of the home. As previously mentioned, many
- 3:07:24investigators also have claimed to have some activity follow
- 3:07:27them home and even haunt their dreams, as if the house or the
- 3:07:33beings within the house are calling out to them to come back
- 3:07:38for one reason or another. Although many questions may
- 3:07:42never be answered surrounding the Bel Air House, one thing is
- 3:07:46for certain, it continues to be considered one of the most
- 3:07:50haunted places in America, if not the world.
- 3:07:54It also continues to serve as a place of study for those wanting
- 3:07:58to investigate the supernatural forces that dwell within its
- 3:08:03walls. But if you find yourself being
- 3:08:06drawn to the old Victorian, just know that if you're not careful,
- 3:08:11you too could find yourself being made a part of its
- 3:08:14history, whether you like it or not.
- 3:08:20Over the years, I've covered a wide array of mysteries, from
- 3:08:24The Mothman to UFOs, conspiracies to cold cases.
- 3:08:30And one topic that seemed to resonate more with all of you,
- 3:08:33and one that I've always found fascinating is hauntings,
- 3:08:37whether that's haunted places, haunted people, or experiences
- 3:08:42that people have had that they would consider paranormal in
- 3:08:46nature. So today I'm trying something
- 3:08:49new. And don't worry, this is adding
- 3:08:51content here on Mystery Archives, so there will still be
- 3:08:55episodes of The Untold Story for you to enjoy.
- 3:08:58Those just take a good chunk of time to produce.
- 3:09:00So in between those episodes, I'd really like to share stories
- 3:09:05from you guys, the community, to bring awareness that these kinds
- 3:09:09of experiences really do happen. And having grown up in a haunted
- 3:09:14home myself, I know that often times people are hesitant to
- 3:09:17share their stories for fear of ridicule or for fear of whatever
- 3:09:22they've experienced flaring up again and reigniting their
- 3:09:26personal nightmare. This platform will hopefully
- 3:09:29give their stories justice, have them heard, and give you a
- 3:09:34glimpse into what people like yourselves have experienced.
- 3:09:38These are your paranormal encounters when a young family
- 3:09:46encounters the devil and the flesh.
- 3:09:50Told from the perspective of a young girl, this terrifying tale
- 3:09:54will have you questioning just what could be happening across
- 3:09:57the street from you, next door, or even in your very own home.
- 3:10:05I was almost 7 when these events took place and I'll be 40 later
- 3:10:10this year. I lived in the Glendale
- 3:10:12Apartments in Rock Hill, SC. My baby brother at the time
- 3:10:17wasn't quite even a year. Old.
- 3:10:20Now my mom was young when she had me at 17, and my stepdad
- 3:10:25Keith was exactly 2 months to the day older than.
- 3:10:28Her. My mom has been gone for 14
- 3:10:31years now, but I still remember this day like it was yesterday.
- 3:10:36We had left to get dinner that night and by the time we had
- 3:10:39gotten back, Keith was passed out in the front seat of his
- 3:10:43little hatchback Mustang in the parking lot.
- 3:10:45This was the first of two that would find themselves wrapped
- 3:10:48around trees in my town. Keith was suffering from what
- 3:10:52would later be diagnosed as schizophrenia with bipolar
- 3:10:56tendencies and had seemingly been self medicating to
- 3:11:01alleviate his symptoms since he was asleep.
- 3:11:04My mom urged me not to wake him as I helped her get my infant
- 3:11:08brother at the time out of the car and into our apartment.
- 3:11:13As we began to wind down for the evening, our phone began to
- 3:11:17ring, shattering the calm peace that was our lives.
- 3:11:23It was Keith's mom, Mary. She lived on the other side of
- 3:11:26the complex, which mostly housed old people and people with
- 3:11:31disabilities. She sounded panicked, screaming
- 3:11:35that something was happening in her apartment, that she needed
- 3:11:39help immediately. My mom rushed to go wake Keith
- 3:11:42up out in the parking lot, but upon running up to the car, he
- 3:11:47was nowhere to be found. She rushed back into our
- 3:11:50apartment saying that she couldn't find Keith when he
- 3:11:54suddenly appeared in the hallway and neither of us had seen him
- 3:11:58come into the apartment. He seemed completely out of it
- 3:12:03and was terrified, saying that something was taking him over
- 3:12:08and that he couldn't control himself.
- 3:12:11I saw his eyes, they were black. My mother didn't have time to
- 3:12:16deal with or process his antics and gathered us to walk to his
- 3:12:20mother's apartment. In the meantime, as we rushed
- 3:12:24over there as fast as we could, I remember getting a skin
- 3:12:27crawling feeling every time Keith looked at me, like it was
- 3:12:31something completely foreign to this world peering into my soul.
- 3:12:36We arrived and we're quickly let into Mary's apartment.
- 3:12:40Her lights were flickering and her pictures were swaying back
- 3:12:44and forth on the walls. A heavy presence could be felt
- 3:12:48by all of us. Mary was deeply religious and
- 3:12:52couldn't understand just what was taking place, but she
- 3:12:55believed it to be evil. Keith was now standing in the
- 3:12:59living room and began to sway back and forth as the activity
- 3:13:04seemed to intensify. As my mother approached him to
- 3:13:08ask what he was doing, he began to laugh.
- 3:13:12This was the deepest, most maniacal laugh I have ever heard
- 3:13:16and I still get chills thinking about it.
- 3:13:19This voice was not his own. My mother quickly backed up,
- 3:13:24unsure of what to do, and he then began to point at me saying
- 3:13:30I'm going to sacrifice that child tonight.
- 3:13:33His eyes were now blood red. Mary by this time had grabbed
- 3:13:38some of her belongings from her room and happened to have some
- 3:13:42blessed oil along with her Bible.
- 3:13:45She threw the oil on Keith's face and it began to boil.
- 3:13:49The sound of sizzling and screaming was horrific.
- 3:13:55My mother's love for Keith quickly overpowered her fear and
- 3:13:58she pulled him into the bathroom to examine his face.
- 3:14:02She was freaking out to say the least, partially because of how
- 3:14:06unbelievable the circumstances were and just how badly he was
- 3:14:11burnt on his face. His eyes at this point were
- 3:14:15rolled into the back of his head.
- 3:14:17Then suddenly, without warning, he rushed my mom and pinned her
- 3:14:23against the wall. His younger sister, Nikki and
- 3:14:27his mother quickly rushed in to help free her, with Mary dumping
- 3:14:31more oil on him each time. His skin literally sizzled where
- 3:14:36it landed. This fortunately worked.
- 3:14:40Keith now laid catatonic on the bathroom floor so all together
- 3:14:45as girls moved him into a nearby bedroom and restrained him to
- 3:14:49the bed using anything we could find for our own safety.
- 3:14:54Shortly after we did this, his mother called the nearby oratory
- 3:14:59and asked for a priest to assist us immediately.
- 3:15:03Nikki, who was a teenager at the time, was trying to comfort me,
- 3:15:07telling me that Keith was just really sick and not to be
- 3:15:11scared. She encouraged me to try and get
- 3:15:13some sleep and I of course couldn't and wouldn't.
- 3:15:18I didn't dare close my eyes for fear of that thing.
- 3:15:21Hurting my mom. And this room with Keith was a
- 3:15:26picture of Jesus kneeling on top of a mountain.
- 3:15:29I heard Keith laughing in that other worldly voice.
- 3:15:33He called out to me. He said, you know, little girl,
- 3:15:38I used to be an Angel with the most beautiful wings until that
- 3:15:42bastard was born. Then I was cast from atop that
- 3:15:47mountain and banished. I asked who are you?
- 3:15:52The devil? He perked up, looked me dead in
- 3:15:56my eyes and said I am Lucifer, the light bringer here in the
- 3:16:02flesh. I'm not only taking Keith with
- 3:16:05me, but all of you as well. Now untie me.
- 3:16:11I ran hysterically to my mother who was having a cigarette to
- 3:16:14calm her nerves. She ran into the room to comfort
- 3:16:17him when he said do you want to see proof?
- 3:16:21And against her will, my mother then extinguished the cigarette
- 3:16:25into his arm with Keith exclaiming it feels so good.
- 3:16:31You'll have to adjust to the searing flames, but in due time
- 3:16:35you too will call it home. She then rushed out of the room
- 3:16:40and closed the door. We waited with bated breath for
- 3:16:43the priest to arrive when shortly after 3:00 AM there was
- 3:16:47a knock on the door. Thank God it was him.
- 3:16:52For the next several hours they attempted to cast this thing out
- 3:16:55of Keith, probably for the best. They kept me in the living room
- 3:17:00away from the demonic terror that was inhabiting his body.
- 3:17:04But my God, the smells that wafted throughout the complex
- 3:17:09like putrid meat and sulfur. I soon also heard moaning and
- 3:17:15growling from dogs that didn't exist.
- 3:17:19There was a strange fog that had enveloped the apartment itself,
- 3:17:23and a strange flickering light that now emanated from the room
- 3:17:28or the exorcism was taking place.
- 3:17:32I began to close my eyes and pray to God harder than I'd ever
- 3:17:35prayed before, wanting and wishing for all of it to end,
- 3:17:41when suddenly it did. Keith had seemingly been freed
- 3:17:46of these spiritual shackles, and although I was terrified, I was
- 3:17:51more than wanting to finally get some sleep.
- 3:17:54So after the priest departed and all seemed fine, we slowly made
- 3:17:58our way back home through the damp misty morning that was now
- 3:18:03upon us. Upon arriving home and heading
- 3:18:07inside, we all began to make our way to our bedrooms to try and
- 3:18:11sleep. I found myself in my bed, comfy
- 3:18:16and finally about to rest when I felt my bed shake.
- 3:18:21I quickly opened my eyes to find my bed off the floor and my
- 3:18:26bedpost balls screwed off each one in the corner of each post
- 3:18:32floating there. I screamed harder than I've ever
- 3:18:35screamed before, alerting my mother who rushed to save me.
- 3:18:40Upon her running in, my bed suddenly slammed to the ground
- 3:18:45and my bedpost balls all fell to the floor.
- 3:18:49The events of that night and the following morning can never be
- 3:18:52forgotten by me and my family. For the next year and a half we
- 3:18:56dealt with similar smells wafting throughout our
- 3:18:59apartment, unseen snarls and growls, and a feeling of anxiety
- 3:19:05as if our every move was being watched.
- 3:19:09But thank God it all eventually faded.
- 3:19:12I had since asked Keith how he came to be in that state, but I
- 3:19:16could never really get a clear answer.
- 3:19:19He often drank moonshine and was in a bad state mentally and
- 3:19:23spiritually at the time. Perhaps this weakened him enough
- 3:19:27to let something in somehow. I've since moved on from that
- 3:19:31place, but heard something very interesting that I'd also like
- 3:19:35to share in regards to him. This was the apartment we lived
- 3:19:38in and a young boy mysteriously passed away within it not too
- 3:19:42long ago. The details of the case are hard
- 3:19:45to find, but I believe he was about as old as I was when
- 3:19:49everything had taken place to us.
- 3:19:52There has also been multiple shootings, stabbings, and
- 3:19:56murders that have taken place near and in the complex itself.
- 3:20:01It seems like whatever possessed Keith and stalked us maybe never
- 3:20:06truly left. I'm glad to share my story with
- 3:20:09all of you and I just want you to know that these things are
- 3:20:12very real. The paranormal is real and
- 3:20:17please do not meddle with it because you just don't know what
- 3:20:22you could be inviting in. This energy, this evil wanted my
- 3:20:27soul and it seems like it may have taken multiple lives and
- 3:20:32pursuit of whatever nefarious things it wanted.
- 3:20:38Leia. I would like to thank Leia for
- 3:20:42submitting this chilling story of an exorcism that took place
- 3:20:46to her stepfather when she was a child.
- 3:20:50The entire situation must have been terrifying to endure, to
- 3:20:53say the least, and I commend her for being willing to share this
- 3:20:57with us and warn others that these things are very real
- 3:21:02indeed. I also believe it's important to
- 3:21:04bring awareness to these kinds of topics.
- 3:21:07For a number of reasons. I am curious just how Keith
- 3:21:11became possessed, however, and if it was truly by Lucifer
- 3:21:15himself or something pretending to be him.
- 3:21:19All around a terrifying tale from Leia.
- 3:21:25Upon laying her head down to sleep, a young woman is
- 3:21:29seemingly transported to another time or place where she
- 3:21:34interacts with malevolent spirits.
- 3:21:37This one may just make you wonder if the very same has ever
- 3:21:41happened to you. One hot Saturday morning in
- 3:21:462001, my ex-husband Dean and I went to the grocery store.
- 3:21:51By the time we returned home and put everything away, it was
- 3:21:55almost noon. I prepared some lunch for us and
- 3:21:59by two PMI announced that the heat had made me feel so very
- 3:22:03tired and that I would need to lie down.
- 3:22:06Dean would go on to watch TV with the volume on low and I
- 3:22:10closed the bedroom door. As soon as my head hit the
- 3:22:13pillow I went out like a light. Then in what seemed like only 5
- 3:22:18minutes later I was woken up by a lady speaking beside my bed.
- 3:22:24It was if she was addressing another person but yet in a
- 3:22:28crystal clear voice across the room she said something along
- 3:22:32the lines of don't disturb her, let her sleep.
- 3:22:37This startled me. I immediately sat up in my bed
- 3:22:41and I looked around but saw nothing.
- 3:22:44I knew I wasn't dreaming as the voice was real and yet spoke at
- 3:22:48an audible enough level even to wake me up.
- 3:22:52Regardless whether a dream or real, I was too exhausted and
- 3:22:57quickly fell asleep again. Now this is where things took a
- 3:23:00stranger turn. I felt my soul leave my body.
- 3:23:05It rose up to where the wall met the ceiling.
- 3:23:08I crossed through the wall and into another place.
- 3:23:11In time. I was no longer within my home
- 3:23:15but found myself in a scene from the 18th century.
- 3:23:20It was similar to watching a black and white film, but in
- 3:23:23varying Shades of Grey. I saw a few people who were
- 3:23:27extravagantly dressed and wore coiffed and powdered wigs,
- 3:23:31sitting on a plush Steven and some armchairs.
- 3:23:36They sat almost motionless by a small low lying table.
- 3:23:40Only the woman slowly looked about, but nobody seemed to
- 3:23:44notice me. I looked to my left and saw a
- 3:23:47couple standing still, arms held in an arch above in the air,
- 3:23:53hands touching, poised, as if waiting for music to start for
- 3:23:58their dance. I looked past them and saw a few
- 3:24:03men, one at each small table, just sitting quietly and
- 3:24:07motionless. Then I looked to my right, past
- 3:24:11the few people I initially saw and looked in awe at the sight
- 3:24:15before me. I realized I was in a vast hall
- 3:24:19as far as the eye could see. I saw no other people, and the
- 3:24:24next thing I knew I was back in my body, seemingly asleep yet
- 3:24:30aware of my surroundings. I was made aware of the large
- 3:24:34crowd of people outside of my bedroom door.
- 3:24:38The sound was similar to what you would hear in a crowded bar,
- 3:24:42many people talking amongst themselves.
- 3:24:44However, there was one woman's voice that could be heard
- 3:24:48slightly above the rest of the crowd.
- 3:24:50I didn't pay it any special attention as I wasn't focusing
- 3:24:54on anyone in particular, nor catch what she had said.
- 3:24:58And what was only a moment later, that same voice was
- 3:25:02louder and closer, this time just on the other side of my
- 3:25:06bedroom door. Although I paid a little more
- 3:25:09attention now, what she said was still indiscernible, and the
- 3:25:14voice was yet to be one that I recognized.
- 3:25:17A voice belonging to a stranger. In what seemed just another
- 3:25:21moment again, she opened the door, stepped into my room, and
- 3:25:26then shut the door behind her. I laid frozen in my bed, unable
- 3:25:31to move, yet I felt real terror at this point, although I
- 3:25:36couldn't move at all, my eyes were fixed at top of the wall.
- 3:25:39Somehow, with my mind's eye, I saw her.
- 3:25:44It was my mother who had passed away 21 years earlier.
- 3:25:48She wore a long white shroud, which I never got to see her in,
- 3:25:52but I knew that she had been buried in one by now.
- 3:25:56I was totally terrified. I wanted to scream out for help.
- 3:26:01Better still to get out of there, but I wasn't able to move
- 3:26:05a muscle. I watched my mother pace to and
- 3:26:08fro past the foot of my bed in absolute rage.
- 3:26:13She was so angry with me. She was literally spitting mad
- 3:26:17while she was scolding me. Never had I seen her this angry.
- 3:26:22The one thing I did notice once my mother's spirit had entered
- 3:26:25the room was that while my eyes were fixed near the ceiling, it
- 3:26:30was within my range of sight that I'd seen a soft white
- 3:26:34gashes ball of light appear to my right at the corner of the
- 3:26:38ceiling. It was about the size of a
- 3:26:40basketball, though not quite as spherical.
- 3:26:43It was so very slow moving, like a swirl of white smoke within
- 3:26:48itself. Somehow I felt like it was
- 3:26:50protecting me from this evil like a guardian Angel once my
- 3:26:55mother was done raging. At me.
- 3:26:57She faced the door and held the door slightly open.
- 3:27:01She paused and told me that I'd be dead by midnight tonight.
- 3:27:06She then shut the door behind her and left.
- 3:27:10As soon as she was out the door, the ball of light had dissipated
- 3:27:14too and I felt instant relief. I looked at the clock and it was
- 3:27:19now 3:00 PM. All of this strangeness took
- 3:27:23place in the space of 1 terrifying hour.
- 3:27:27I still don't know if that was the spirit of my mother or
- 3:27:30something evil imitating. Her.
- 3:27:32All I know is that I jumped out of bed and rushed to the lounge
- 3:27:36room, telling Dean what I had seen.
- 3:27:39Though I didn't mention my mother's parting words, Dean
- 3:27:43wasn't remotely interested. He only mumbled as I interrupted
- 3:27:47him watching his program. Well, that was the end of the
- 3:27:50nap I wasn't quite able to get. As evening approached, I
- 3:27:54constantly glanced at my watch. Although we retired for the day
- 3:27:58at about 10:00 PM that night, I was fearful yet resigned in my
- 3:28:03fate. I hadn't told the soul about my
- 3:28:05mother's message in case it tempted fate.
- 3:28:09On waking the next morning, I couldn't have felt more relieved
- 3:28:12and thrilled to still be alive now that it felt safe to do so.
- 3:28:17I told Dean and later my neighbor about it all.
- 3:28:20They showed me the goosebumps on their arms and expressed fear as
- 3:28:24I recounted my experience. This was 22 years ago and I
- 3:28:29still think of that day and the sheer terror that it brought me.
- 3:28:33It's a day that I can never forget.
- 3:28:36Johanna. That story was chilling.
- 3:28:39Johanna. I too am curious if it was some
- 3:28:42kind of spirit impersonating your mother or if it was somehow
- 3:28:46her. The detail of what she was
- 3:28:49wearing also happened to be what she was buried in.
- 3:28:52Literally gave me goosebumps. So thank you so much for sharing
- 3:28:56your story and continuing to bring awareness to these topics.
- 3:29:03A young man seemingly interacts with his grandmother who has
- 3:29:06long since passed away, but he isn't the only one that sees and
- 3:29:12feels her presence. This was in reference to
- 3:29:17watching one of my videos. Watching this video reminded me
- 3:29:21of something that's been going on in my house.
- 3:29:24My wife's grandmother died before we got together and her
- 3:29:28son was the last person in the hospital room with her when she
- 3:29:32passed. Now, my work schedule varies,
- 3:29:35but generally I'm up between 3:00 and 4:00 AM every day.
- 3:29:40Sometimes I feel a presence or I thought I saw what was a shadow
- 3:29:45and my peripheral vision. I finally told my wife about
- 3:29:50this a while back and she proceeded to tell me that her
- 3:29:53autistic son regularly speaks to his deceased grandmother.
- 3:29:58We've both spoken to him multiple times and apparently
- 3:30:02she visits him constantly. My wife admitted that she's seen
- 3:30:06her in our house a couple of times as well.
- 3:30:09I've offered to have the house cleansed, but my wife said no.
- 3:30:13Apparently his grandmother visits him all the time and
- 3:30:16watches over him and he's admitted that he still sees her.
- 3:30:21He's autistic, so he's very honest with everything.
- 3:30:26I'd like your guys's input about this.
- 3:30:28Thank you caveman. Well, caveman especially since
- 3:30:34he's autistic. That really does convince me of
- 3:30:37his sincerity and honesty. The young man clearly doesn't
- 3:30:40have a motivation to gain anything by saying this.
- 3:30:44And when you have felt this presence, is it as she was in
- 3:30:48life? Is it more of a benevolent
- 3:30:51energy or something else? It's also very interesting that
- 3:30:55your wife has seen her on multiple occasions as well.
- 3:30:59Perhaps she is watching over her grandson.
- 3:31:02Children often have an extra sense it seems like, to be able
- 3:31:06to interact with the spirit world.
- 3:31:08Reading your story reminded me of when my brother was younger
- 3:31:12and we had a very similar situation.
- 3:31:15My mom's father, Paul, had passed away in their family home
- 3:31:19in 2002 when my brother was just two years old.
- 3:31:24Prior to his. Passing Paul seemed to be
- 3:31:27motioning for things to go away, things that we couldn't see,
- 3:31:32perhaps trying to state that he wasn't ready to go yet.
- 3:31:36Several months after his passing, with my grandmother
- 3:31:39Agnes still inhabiting the very same house, my brother Kaden had
- 3:31:43started to interact with something that we couldn't see.
- 3:31:47He would often play around the living room, which was the same
- 3:31:50room my grandfather passed away in.
- 3:31:53One day when he was in a full conversation with this person,
- 3:31:57my mother asked him who he was talking to and he said Grandpa
- 3:32:02Paul. It took the very breath out of
- 3:32:05her lungs. These interactions were fairly
- 3:32:09frequent until he was about four or five years old, then they
- 3:32:13suddenly went away one day. It truly makes one beg the
- 3:32:17question, just how often do our loved ones truly watch over us?
- 3:32:22Thanks for sharing this one, Caveman.
- 3:32:25Thank you all for watching. If you'd like to hear more

- 3:32:37If you're new here, as I mentioned in the beginning of
- 3:32:41this video, I think it's very important to bring awareness to
- 3:32:44the paranormal question. It, in a sense, is the ultimate
- 3:32:48question in my opinion. What truly happens when we pass
- 3:32:51through the veil of this reality and into the afterlife?
- 3:32:56I appreciate all of you as always.
- 3:32:58I hope all of you are doing well mentally, physically, and
- 3:33:02spiritually. And I hope your year is heading
- 3:33:05in a vibrant and positive direction, and I wish you all
- 3:33:09nothing but the best. Until next time, this has been

- 3:33:15Stay safe out there and take care.
