- 0:00Speaker 1: I need to apologize to you guys, because I said
- 0:02Speaker 1: one fifteen and I am now eight minutes, nine minutes late.
- 0:08Speaker 1: That is my I apologize. I'm afraid to say anything,
- 0:12Speaker 1: and don't. You don't have to say anything. I'm apologizing
- 0:14Speaker 1: to you, and I'm apologizing to the fans. The ship
- 0:18Speaker 1: got on the road a little late. That being said,
- 0:22Speaker 1: a lot of news has happened in between now and
- 0:24Speaker 1: one o'clock. Jeff Bezos has now stepped down as CEO
- 0:29Speaker 1: of Amazon. Yeah, why are you so excited about that?
- 0:32Speaker 1: How does that affect us in anything? Because there's a
- 0:34Speaker 1: job opening and it could be me. I don't know
- 0:40Speaker 1: if they're this is America, Jack. I don't know if
- 0:43Speaker 1: they're hiring actors for the position. But you can try audition,
- 0:46Speaker 1: maybe set itself to listen. I've seen Ted talk. All
- 0:50Speaker 1: Ted talk is is somebody getting up on stage and
- 0:53Speaker 1: convincing you that they are on point with their stuff.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I love how you struggled for the sentence, on point
- 1:04Speaker 1: with their stuff, with their stuff. That's like that what's
- 1:08Speaker 1: his name? The simple guy in the Simpsons when he goes, Lisa,
- 1:12Speaker 1: do you like stuff? Yes? That's when Ralph Wickham's trying
- 1:17Speaker 1: to flirt with Lisa. I like stuff, but I know
- 1:22Speaker 1: what it is. I know how to do that. If
- 1:24Speaker 1: somebody writes it for me, I got you. I'm an actor,
- 1:27Speaker 1: That's what I do. I have a theory that running
- 1:30Speaker 1: Amazon maybe a bit out of your skill set, don't
- 1:35Speaker 1: I didn't say I wanted to run Amazon. I want
- 1:38Speaker 1: to be the face of Amazon. How about that? That's
- 1:43Speaker 1: what I want. I want to be the face of Amazon.
- 1:46Speaker 1: When you think of toys and packages and deliveries and
- 1:52Speaker 1: a bunch of jobs for Americans, I want you to
- 1:55Speaker 1: think of me. Okay, okay, maybe they'll put your face
- 1:58Speaker 1: on the box if you get the job. That's branding.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Speaking of your face on things, we should talk about
- 2:04Speaker 1: this awesome new merch that's in the merch shop for everybody. Hi, everybody, welcome.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Good to see you, or at least pretend to see you.
- 2:13Speaker 1: We have these things that are called badge poles. If
- 2:16Speaker 1: you work in a hospital, or if you work somewhere
- 2:19Speaker 1: where you have to wear a badge and then you
- 2:20Speaker 1: have to reach down and put it on some sensor
- 2:23Speaker 1: to open a door, Well, we have solved it for you.
- 2:26Speaker 1: We have really dope badge poles from face. They are
- 2:30Speaker 1: really cool. I got in mind today. I was kind
- 2:33Speaker 1: of pooh pooing on the idea of the badge pole,
- 2:36Speaker 1: but it's actually real cool. Even if you don't even
- 2:39Speaker 1: if you don't have a badge that you need to
- 2:42Speaker 1: pull on, you can put your keys on it. It's
- 2:45Speaker 1: almost like I gotta say, and I'm not just saying
- 2:48Speaker 1: this because we made them. It's a nice fidget toy.
- 2:51Speaker 1: You know how you used to have the fidget toys. Yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 1: I have it on my desk and I've been fidgeting
- 2:56Speaker 1: with it all day. Okay, but you gotta put it down.
- 2:58Speaker 1: We're doing a podcast. I know, I'm all right. I'm sorry.
- 3:00Speaker 1: It's like when I ate and people get all upset.
- 3:02Speaker 1: And then the other thing we have, just in time
- 3:04Speaker 1: for Valentine's Day, our turk and JD key chains that
- 3:08Speaker 1: are broken hearts. So your lover or your friend gets
- 3:12Speaker 1: the half of the heart that's JD your turk, and
- 3:14Speaker 1: you get the other one and then when together, you
- 3:16Speaker 1: can press them up against each other and go eagle.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I like that. There you go, So you go to
- 3:26Speaker 1: Cotton Bureau dot Com. That's where we have our merch.
- 3:28Speaker 1: You just search for fake doctors, real friends, and it'll
- 3:32Speaker 1: bring you to our merch page. We know you guys
- 3:34Speaker 1: like merch because you seem to buy a lot of it.
- 3:38Speaker 1: And we have new stuff for Valentine's Day. You know what.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I love the locket because you know what, it reminds
- 3:43Speaker 1: me of what betcha he reads? Betcha she so's Maybe
- 3:50Speaker 1: she's made me a closet of clothes. Maybe they're strict.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Why shouldn't they be? They're one mistake was given a me.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Maybe I want to know the audience to know that
- 4:07Speaker 1: if you know what that is, you either are gay
- 4:11Speaker 1: or love musicals or both, as is Mike. Here we go.
- 4:21Speaker 1: So maybe now there's prayer, go ahead, the last one
- 4:30Speaker 1: of it's kind. Won't you please come get your baby? Baby?
- 4:38Speaker 1: Let him have it with that note, girl, babe, give
- 4:46Speaker 1: me a little run. Girl. I don't know if we
- 4:53Speaker 1: can beat that intro. Let's get into it. Five six seven?
- 4:55Speaker 1: Ear how about s about a bunch of nurses? Story? Sound? Yeah,
- 5:19Speaker 1: We're gonna do a shorter show today. You know why why?
- 5:23Speaker 1: Because I have been affected by negative comments on my Instagram?
- 5:27Speaker 1: What happened? So what happened. It's because the GT, isn't
- 5:30Speaker 1: it they? I had people saying the GTS thing was boring.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I had people saying they didn't want to hear about
- 5:36Speaker 1: the stock market, and a I'm giving them social media
- 5:39Speaker 1: because I'm so fucking sick of social media and maybe
- 5:42Speaker 1: I'm not taking my criticism well today, but we're gonna
- 5:44Speaker 1: give the people what they want. How many people are
- 5:46Speaker 1: gonna we're gonna go, We're gonna go right to the show?
- 5:50Speaker 1: How many people said it was boring? And how many
- 5:52Speaker 1: people said they didn't want to hear about the stock market?
- 5:54Speaker 1: I started, I stopped reading it, but there were probably
- 5:56Speaker 1: like four um stopped doing a GT kombucha ad and
- 6:01Speaker 1: like maybe three don't talk about the stock market, So
- 6:06Speaker 1: maybe seven people piss me off? Really yeah, out of
- 6:11Speaker 1: out of over a million, I love the fact that
- 6:15Speaker 1: you got to take a break. If anything, now is
- 6:16Speaker 1: the time to take a break. Well, I am taking
- 6:18Speaker 1: a Twitter break. I gotta tell you it's you know
- 6:21Speaker 1: that that documentary. Did you guys watch the documentary? What's
- 6:23Speaker 1: it called? The Social Dilemma? Is? Yeah? I was really
- 6:27Speaker 1: if you haven't seen that and you're listening to this,
- 6:29Speaker 1: please check it out. It's on Was it on Netflix? Yeah?
- 6:31Speaker 1: I was on Netflix. It's really mind blowing about and Donald,
- 6:34Speaker 1: I know you watched it. Just about how these these
- 6:37Speaker 1: these apps were designed to be addictive, and I am
- 6:39Speaker 1: fully been addicted to time. I'm I'm so addicted, dude,
- 6:43Speaker 1: I'm so addicted. I'm now paying money on apps. Now.
- 6:45Speaker 1: It's so bad because you know you're buying shit, buying
- 6:50Speaker 1: shit on apps, like there'll be video games, and I'm like,
- 6:53Speaker 1: I really need this power up though. But I'm talking about,
- 6:58Speaker 1: like I'm talking about, through all this insane news cycle
- 7:01Speaker 1: between Trump and the pandemic and everything else, I have
- 7:06Speaker 1: been addicted to Twitter. I just read news NonStop like
- 7:09Speaker 1: a drug. Just what happened this second? What happened this second?
- 7:13Speaker 1: And then I watched the documentary and I laughed at myself.
- 7:16Speaker 1: I'm going, it's just no different than any other addiction.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I'm fully addicted to this app. And the app is
- 7:21Speaker 1: so negative and cynical and just a rain cloud. I
- 7:26Speaker 1: find that I'm then filling my brain with just fucking
- 7:30Speaker 1: a fire hose of negativity. Well, everybody, I would like
- 7:34Speaker 1: to stop that. Everybody seems to think that their information
- 7:41Speaker 1: is the correct information. Where they're getting their information is
- 7:44Speaker 1: the by it's the information of the gods. It seems
- 7:52Speaker 1: like my information is so perfect and so on point
- 7:56Speaker 1: with what I which with what triggers me that I
- 8:01Speaker 1: can't stop looking at my social media and phones, you
- 8:06Speaker 1: know what I mean. So my phone, so whatever whatever
- 8:09Speaker 1: I started, whatever algorithm I created, it's so perfect for
- 8:14Speaker 1: me now that it's like, like you're talking about, I
- 8:17Speaker 1: wake up in the morning, I grab my phone, I
- 8:19Speaker 1: get on the toilet, I grab my phone, you know
- 8:20Speaker 1: what I mean. Like, it's like it's crazy. And that's
- 8:23Speaker 1: what and that's what social media is. It's made to
- 8:27Speaker 1: trigger you to because it sees what you what you
- 8:30Speaker 1: what you keep tapping on and now you're gonna get
- 8:33Speaker 1: flooded with. Of course, what I learned on the documentary
- 8:35Speaker 1: was that even when you're on Instagram, even when you're
- 8:37Speaker 1: scrolling by things, and let's say, you slow down because
- 8:40Speaker 1: for me, it's like a camera gadget, let's say, because
- 8:43Speaker 1: that's what my whole feed is, like puppies and camera gadgets.
- 8:46Speaker 1: But like you slow down, it's registering, oh, even before
- 8:49Speaker 1: you clicked on it, it knows that you slow down
- 8:52Speaker 1: around the area of that camera gadget. And so now
- 8:56Speaker 1: it's like, you know, they do it great in that
- 8:58Speaker 1: documentary they show, You're like, Okay, he's he's flowing down
- 9:00Speaker 1: for the camera gadget. Now let's send him a push
- 9:03Speaker 1: notification for you know. And it's so true. The Instagram
- 9:07Speaker 1: has really figured out their algorithm how to sell shit
- 9:09Speaker 1: to me. Because everything, everything I passed, that's an ad
- 9:12Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, yeah, they're right. I do kind of
- 9:14Speaker 1: want that. But I'm not even Instagram is the next
- 9:16Speaker 1: step I'm starting, because that's at least pictures. I'm starting
- 9:19Speaker 1: with taking a Twitter break just because I think it's
- 9:22Speaker 1: I just don't think all that negativity is good for
- 9:24Speaker 1: my brain personally. But that's where everybody gets their news from.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Now I know, I gotta find it. I'm trying other
- 9:30Speaker 1: sources for news. I get taken a break, you know.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I think Twitter was like, I gotta take a break
- 9:35Speaker 1: from this. It's not just the Trump talk. It's just
- 9:39Speaker 1: like anything anything. The whole game, you're the whole game
- 9:42Speaker 1: of Twitter is who can be more snarky and quippy
- 9:47Speaker 1: about any topic? And that's fine. I participated and I
- 9:52Speaker 1: have a lot of followers over there, and I'm sure
- 9:54Speaker 1: that I'll fucking fall off the wagon and be back
- 9:56Speaker 1: soon all you lovely people who follow me. That's what
- 9:58Speaker 1: I'm about to say. At the end of the day,
- 10:00Speaker 1: the day you know why you have Twitter, and you
- 10:03Speaker 1: know why you have well, I'll go back to promote
- 10:05Speaker 1: my wares. I love, I love. It is an amazing
- 10:07Speaker 1: tool for me to say, hey, guys, I have this
- 10:09Speaker 1: thing coming out and I and I do it for
- 10:11Speaker 1: the podcast, I do it for the projects I have
- 10:13Speaker 1: and that's amazing, and but I just I just find
- 10:16Speaker 1: I just kind of like that documentary has been sitting
- 10:18Speaker 1: with me, like over my shoulder, and I've been thinking
- 10:20Speaker 1: about it. I recently have a friend who's who's taking
- 10:23Speaker 1: in a February off from booze, and I was thinking
- 10:26Speaker 1: to myself, I've taken alcohol breaks a bunch too, But
- 10:28Speaker 1: I thought to myself, you know what, I want to
- 10:30Speaker 1: take a I'm gonna I'm gonna be inspired by my
- 10:32Speaker 1: friend and take a Twitter break anyway. I do Black
- 10:36Speaker 1: History Month, buddy, Happy Black History Month to you, my my, my,
- 10:39Speaker 1: my African American friend. Okay, do you did you watch
- 10:43Speaker 1: the show? I told you all to watch um in
- 10:45Speaker 1: and of itself. You didn't want you. But I know
- 10:49Speaker 1: about I know about it. I know I know about
- 10:51Speaker 1: the guy. And I'm not gonna pretend that I did
- 10:53Speaker 1: watch it, but I know about the guy through Neil
- 10:55Speaker 1: Patrick Harris, who was like, who who is a big
- 10:59Speaker 1: time Uh? He's into agians, magic, He's into you know,
- 11:02Speaker 1: he's into illusions and all that stuff. And we were
- 11:05Speaker 1: filming a signa commercial together and he was telling me
- 11:07Speaker 1: about this guy on Broadway who he went to see
- 11:11Speaker 1: and he had never seen any he had never seen
- 11:14Speaker 1: the tricks, like any of these tricks. Right. The thing
- 11:16Speaker 1: with magicians is like they all know each you know,
- 11:19Speaker 1: for the most part. I don't know if you've ever
- 11:21Speaker 1: seen the movie The Prestige. Yeah, I love The Prestige, right,
- 11:24Speaker 1: one of my favorite movies. Everybody, but everybody knows, you know,
- 11:29Speaker 1: magicians usually know the ins and out of magic. It's
- 11:35Speaker 1: rare that somebody comes along and makes the magicians and
- 11:39Speaker 1: the illusionists go, how the hell did he do that?
- 11:42Speaker 1: You ever watch that show? Do you ever watch that
- 11:44Speaker 1: show fool Us with Penn and Teller? Oh? Yeah, that
- 11:48Speaker 1: show was fun. It's a really great show. Donald. You
- 11:50Speaker 1: might like it. We're Penn and Teller, who obviously the
- 11:53Speaker 1: pretty darn dialed in magicians who know and anything and everything.
- 11:57Speaker 1: They have a magician on and the magician does a
- 11:59Speaker 1: trick and then they confer and if they if they
- 12:03Speaker 1: can figure out how the magician did it, then you
- 12:07Speaker 1: didn't win. And if you fool them, then you get
- 12:09Speaker 1: to open for them in Vegas. That's awesome, you know,
- 12:12Speaker 1: And it's really cool because they do it in a
- 12:14Speaker 1: really clever way where they don't want to obviously, if
- 12:16Speaker 1: they if they know how he did it, they don't
- 12:17Speaker 1: want to ruin it for everyone, so they'll sort of
- 12:20Speaker 1: speak in like magician jargon. They'll be like, oh, I'm
- 12:23Speaker 1: curious if you've ever learned the sailorman switch, and the
- 12:26Speaker 1: guy I'll kind of smile and they'd be like, hey,
- 12:28Speaker 1: you got it. So they won't like ruin the trick
- 12:30Speaker 1: for everyone, but they'll let the magician know that they
- 12:32Speaker 1: figured it out. They figured it out, you know. They
- 12:35Speaker 1: taught me my first magic trick Penn and Teller did
- 12:37Speaker 1: back when I was in junior high school and I
- 12:40Speaker 1: was doing a television special with Marlow Thomas called Free
- 12:43Speaker 1: to Be a Family and we got to meet like
- 12:45Speaker 1: a bunch of people and we'd built a space bridge
- 12:48Speaker 1: to Russia. And it was like the first time that uh,
- 12:51Speaker 1: like what we're doing right now is zoom call was done.
- 12:53Speaker 1: This was back when I was in junior high school. Anyway,
- 12:56Speaker 1: Free to Be a Family, it was the sequel to
- 12:57Speaker 1: Free to be You and me, Free to be you
- 12:59Speaker 1: and me right and so uh And in it, Pinteller
- 13:03Speaker 1: comes and they teach the kids of America how to
- 13:06Speaker 1: do a magic trick, and it was the how to
- 13:09Speaker 1: make the handkerchief disappear in your hand trick. Let me
- 13:12Speaker 1: tell you something, man. First of all, what amazing, what amazing,
- 13:19Speaker 1: What an amazing act they had, because I really thought
- 13:22Speaker 1: that dude was mute up until up until he taught
- 13:27Speaker 1: us the trick. You know what I mean? I think
- 13:29Speaker 1: you know what's funny. I once saw their off when
- 13:30Speaker 1: I was a child. My dad took me to their
- 13:32Speaker 1: first off Broadway show, and it was weird because he
- 13:35Speaker 1: I don't think he was mute, Like when he wasn't
- 13:37Speaker 1: on stage, like they would do a thing where at
- 13:39Speaker 1: intermission they would chat outside with people, and I think
- 13:43Speaker 1: he was out there talking. I don't know. I think
- 13:45Speaker 1: his stick is he only doesn't when he's quote in character.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Got it? But he that I mean, I used to.
- 13:51Speaker 1: They were so funny to me, and they were so different,
- 13:54Speaker 1: and I love that. You know. One of the guys
- 13:55Speaker 1: had his nails painted. One of his nails was painted.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I thought that was really cool, you know what I mean. Well, anyway,
- 14:00Speaker 1: I gotta tell you Donald please and listeners please check
- 14:03Speaker 1: out I can't probably the most highly recommended thing I'm
- 14:07Speaker 1: going to give you since we've been doing this podcast.
- 14:09Speaker 1: It's called In and of Itself. It's on Hulu. It
- 14:12Speaker 1: is a taped performance of a off Broadway one man show.
- 14:20Speaker 1: And he is an illusionist and there are illusions, but
- 14:22Speaker 1: he also is a genius storyteller and he weaves these
- 14:27Speaker 1: beautiful stories around the illusions and also without spoiling anything
- 14:32Speaker 1: the editor as Frank Oz directed it. By the way,
- 14:35Speaker 1: maybe I'll get you to watch it. Maybe I'll get
- 14:37Speaker 1: you to watch it. You know how I love Frank Oz. Well,
- 14:39Speaker 1: I maybe listen. I was trying to think of a
- 14:42Speaker 1: Star Wars connection for you, and I found one. Frank
- 14:45Speaker 1: directed it. Frank. I know Frank Oz was Yoda and
- 14:47Speaker 1: everything like that, but it's not that every once ran
- 14:49Speaker 1: up on Frank Oz and was like, this is angel dust,
- 14:52Speaker 1: It's PCP. You have any idea what this dust to kids?
- 14:55Speaker 1: He looked at me like yeah, and he looked at
- 14:57Speaker 1: me like I was crazy. Yeah, he looked at me
- 15:00Speaker 1: I was crazy. And I was like, uh, do you
- 15:02Speaker 1: remember that line? He's like, yeah, I remember that line.
- 15:04Speaker 1: But dude, you're blowing my mind. And I was like, good,
- 15:08Speaker 1: I'm glad I'm blowing your mind. That's cool. Anyway, lasting
- 15:12Speaker 1: last thing I'll say about it is that Frank was
- 15:14Speaker 1: directed it in such a cool way that they cut
- 15:16Speaker 1: between multiple performances and it's just a you know, it's
- 15:20Speaker 1: a really clever way to present the material, and it's
- 15:24Speaker 1: it's a little bit slow paced at first, so have patience.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Put your phone away. I'm telling you it is. I
- 15:31Speaker 1: think it's one of the most beautiful things I've seen
- 15:33Speaker 1: in a long time. I could not agree. When when
- 15:36Speaker 1: was the play? When was this? They did like over
- 15:39Speaker 1: five hundred performance of it. I'm assuming it's so genius.
- 15:42Speaker 1: I'm assuming that the pandemic must have been the thing
- 15:46Speaker 1: that closed it, because I don't know how this would
- 15:48Speaker 1: ever close. Yeah, probably I know my family saw it
- 15:51Speaker 1: live two years ago. I wish i'd seen it live.
- 15:53Speaker 1: It really makes you misslive theaters. All right, totally, let's
- 15:56Speaker 1: segue into the show, Donald, because some people out there
- 15:59Speaker 1: like us to uh do less of a shoot the
- 16:02Speaker 1: shit session, and we're gonna give them a special episode today.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Oh really, So we're gonna do what. We're gonna do
- 16:07Speaker 1: what the seven haters wanty, We're gonna give the seven
- 16:10Speaker 1: haters with it, all right, this is for the seven haters. Actually,
- 16:12Speaker 1: the seven haters probably would like none of the that
- 16:15Speaker 1: sixteen minutes of talk we just did. Okay, well, you know,
- 16:19Speaker 1: but from here on out, this is for you seven
- 16:21Speaker 1: haters out there. Yeah, here's one for you seven haters,
- 16:23Speaker 1: you know. All right, here we go. I'm not even
- 16:25Speaker 1: I'm not even gonna time you because that might slow
- 16:27Speaker 1: down the show for the seven. There we go, There
- 16:29Speaker 1: we go. Heads. I still want my beat though, I
- 16:34Speaker 1: still want. By the way, Daniel, that new beat you
- 16:36Speaker 1: found his fire He's got more. I made DJ. Thank you. No,
- 16:41Speaker 1: I know you're a DJ, and I know you're good
- 16:43Speaker 1: at that, but I'm giving you affirmation. I appreciate that.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Thank you. You should find a way to put I
- 16:49Speaker 1: appreciate that. On your all your beats from here on out,
- 16:52Speaker 1: I appreciate Daniel, I have a question for you, like
- 16:56Speaker 1: another one. I appociate that, Daniel. You know how DJ's
- 17:00Speaker 1: have or radio DJs have the pad They can hit
- 17:03Speaker 1: and it will be like sixteen phrases whatever they want,
- 17:06Speaker 1: like yeah, I could hit it and it would be
- 17:08Speaker 1: Donald like making something. Can I have one of those
- 17:11Speaker 1: for our shown? No, I want one, and I wanted
- 17:15Speaker 1: to somehow um the you know, go into your live
- 17:18Speaker 1: recording of the show so I can always hit it. Yes, Donald, Yes, dangerous, dangerous,
- 17:26Speaker 1: And I know Donald's gonna do you want me to
- 17:28Speaker 1: turn the key. I'm not gonna do it. I'll turn
- 17:30Speaker 1: my key about it. I'll turn my key on. Now,
- 17:32Speaker 1: I'll turn it. I'll turn that key for you, but
- 17:34Speaker 1: only for one the only one thing. I can't abuse it.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I can't abuse it, cannot abuse it. If you abuse it,
- 17:39Speaker 1: that ship is out the window. I thought I thought
- 17:40Speaker 1: you were gonna say that you wanted one two, and
- 17:42Speaker 1: I knew that would be a bad idea. No, no, no, no,
- 17:45Speaker 1: I mean I'd be doing beach in the middle of
- 17:47Speaker 1: the fucking o the fucking podcast. What I want to
- 17:50Speaker 1: do is I want to do what they do on
- 17:51Speaker 1: Howard Stern was they have like you know, well they
- 17:53Speaker 1: have a zillion at this point, but we would have
- 17:55Speaker 1: like ten or so catchphrase noises and sounds, and we
- 17:58Speaker 1: could hit it and I could hit it at a
- 18:00Speaker 1: strategic moment. And we're only doing that for the handle,
- 18:03Speaker 1: Dan Scandel, why do you look like you abhor this idea?
- 18:07Speaker 1: I love the idea. I just know that once we
- 18:10Speaker 1: get into the nitty gritty of actually getting it done,
- 18:13Speaker 1: it might not be such a popular idea anymore. I
- 18:15Speaker 1: know people be sticking me hitting the button, but I
- 18:17Speaker 1: think for a few episodes, great, Well, we'll talk about
- 18:20Speaker 1: it after the show. Well can't I just put a
- 18:21Speaker 1: line into my H six zoom recorder. But if you
- 18:26Speaker 1: want us to hear it, you're gonna have to have
- 18:28Speaker 1: two lines. Argue it out. This is your specialty. You
- 18:31Speaker 1: build computers. I know how to I do indeed know
- 18:34Speaker 1: how to do it. Just get take a lot of
- 18:35Speaker 1: effort on your part, Zack. I'm just letting you know
- 18:37Speaker 1: you're gonna have to have the software on your computer.
- 18:39Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying. I just think what's gonna happen
- 18:41Speaker 1: is I'm gonna do it for two episodes and then everyone,
- 18:43Speaker 1: including my seven haters, who are gonna fucking hate it. Well,
- 18:47Speaker 1: we're doing this for the seven. You're right, you know what, Donald,
- 18:51Speaker 1: you seven haters are getting a shorter preamble to the
- 18:55Speaker 1: to the Scrub's recap. But in exchange, I'm getting a
- 18:58Speaker 1: noise machine or you'll work it out. We'll work it out,
- 19:02Speaker 1: all right, do Cox and Jordan is still married. Turk's
- 19:07Speaker 1: jealous of the todd Elliot's the chief and j D's
- 19:11Speaker 1: the coach. Chief. Karma is the ultimate ass kicker. The
- 19:15Speaker 1: way it comes back around is very reminiscent of a
- 19:17Speaker 1: circle Wow brief today. All right, Karma, Well, I don't
- 19:26Speaker 1: know if the seven haters said to shorten your well,
- 19:30Speaker 1: they wanted it shorter, they didn't want any of the
- 19:32Speaker 1: other stuff. So yeah, you know what, you know what,
- 19:34Speaker 1: since they made us cut fun, they get a shorter
- 19:36Speaker 1: fucking summaries. Shorter fucking summaries. Those seven has those seven
- 19:41Speaker 1: you get for Hayden. Oh boy, I think I think
- 19:45Speaker 1: like one point four million people follow me on Instagram.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Those seven people ruined it for everybody, Um, all right, Donald, No,
- 19:55Speaker 1: some people would say, just stopped reading your comments, But
- 19:59Speaker 1: I agree with you. I'm making fun of myself and
- 20:02Speaker 1: I always give you shit when when when someone roles
- 20:04Speaker 1: you up, I'm like, so one person out of that man,
- 20:07Speaker 1: he fucked you up. How about Garrett Donovan as meth guy.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Very funny and looking very young and smelt I like
- 20:16Speaker 1: the haircut. I haven't seen Garrett with a hair cut
- 20:19Speaker 1: like that. And since this, I guess, do you think
- 20:22Speaker 1: he's gone bald? Garrett? No, no, I think he has.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I think he had. Oh sorry, we should tell everyone
- 20:28Speaker 1: who he is. Garrett Donovan is one of our very
- 20:30Speaker 1: funny writers on the show. He was a partner writing
- 20:34Speaker 1: partners with Neil Goldman and together they were a very
- 20:36Speaker 1: funny writing team. And that's him in the beginning of
- 20:40Speaker 1: this episode, playing a politician who's on meth, who's handcuffed
- 20:44Speaker 1: to the bench. He can't wave his hand to go
- 20:47Speaker 1: hey because he's but he's the one math. This episode
- 20:52Speaker 1: was funny. I laughed a lot. I laughed a couple
- 20:55Speaker 1: of times. Actually, yeah, once again, Rob Machio steals the
- 20:57Speaker 1: show in this episode. Once again, Robs, I mean you
- 21:01Speaker 1: see his whole package. The fat thing about a banana
- 21:05Speaker 1: hammock is it's just cock and balls wrapped in in
- 21:11Speaker 1: a little cupboard. But you're just looking at the whole thing.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Well you can't see it, but yeah, it's I mean
- 21:17Speaker 1: you can't see the outline of the trunk, but you
- 21:20Speaker 1: see the mass. Yeah, you see mass. You see with Yes,
- 21:25Speaker 1: you can tell that Rob is not small length. Oh yeah,
- 21:31Speaker 1: no he's I think he's Italian. No, he's Italian. But
- 21:34Speaker 1: we should we should ask I know we did ask
- 21:36Speaker 1: him on the show, but I'd like to ask him
- 21:40Speaker 1: what do we have? How do I freeze? Does he
- 21:43Speaker 1: have a giant cock? Does he have a giant cock?
- 21:46Speaker 1: Because I don't know what's creating such a mass. I know,
- 21:49Speaker 1: if you tuck balls and shaft into a tiny thing,
- 21:53Speaker 1: it looks good. But his looks particularly girth, massive mass massive.
- 22:04Speaker 1: By the way, by the way, penis aside, his body
- 22:07Speaker 1: looks amazing. Ripped. He's ripped. It only makes sense that
- 22:11Speaker 1: after he pulls his heart out. Yes, but wait, before
- 22:15Speaker 1: you get to that. So he's so, he thinks he's
- 22:17Speaker 1: he thinks he thinks there's a calendar being shot outside.
- 22:20Speaker 1: That's what you told them, right, Yeah, there's there's surveyors.
- 22:23Speaker 1: There's there's surveyors that are surveying something with their surveying equipment,
- 22:28Speaker 1: and and Don and Turk wants to steal the surgery
- 22:31Speaker 1: that he supposed to do, so he tells them that
- 22:32Speaker 1: they're out there shooting the Sacred Heart calendar. And he's
- 22:36Speaker 1: out there and he's and he's fully oiled up, and
- 22:38Speaker 1: he's looks slim and and really great, and he goes,
- 22:41Speaker 1: this is June. And then he turns around and sticks
- 22:44Speaker 1: his ass out and he goes, here's a little peek
- 22:46Speaker 1: at July. That's funny. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I forgot though
- 23:01Speaker 1: that Rob looked so good. Yeah, Rob is freaking you know,
- 23:07Speaker 1: when you look back at all of this, I remember
- 23:09Speaker 1: Rob being like, I can't eat that because it'll be
- 23:11Speaker 1: you know, you know, twenty minutes on a you know,
- 23:14Speaker 1: three minutes on the lips is thirty years on the hips.
- 23:17Speaker 1: He would say shit like that, you know what I mean,
- 23:19Speaker 1: Like right, and if you really he looked like he
- 23:25Speaker 1: worked out consistently and starved himself. But he's still big
- 23:30Speaker 1: and you know what I mean, he's still you know,
- 23:31Speaker 1: like has a big waist and still looks strong, but
- 23:35Speaker 1: he's slim and fit, like yeah, I don't know how
- 23:38Speaker 1: old he was at the time, but well done, Rob,
- 23:42Speaker 1: Yeah he looks great. He did a good job. I mean,
- 23:44Speaker 1: that's a lot of pressure to be in that tiny
- 23:46Speaker 1: amount of clothing on national and it is crazy when
- 23:49Speaker 1: you think about it. You know, I've said this before,
- 23:50Speaker 1: but when we moved to ABC from NBC to ABC,
- 23:54Speaker 1: ABC said we couldn't show Rob and his banana hammock anymore.
- 23:58Speaker 1: And it is pretty crazy when you look at it,
- 23:59Speaker 1: and I know it's you could say, how is it
- 24:02Speaker 1: different from a woman in a bikini, But it is
- 24:04Speaker 1: bizarre to see someone that naked on what was network TV.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I mean you can see that a male a mail
- 24:10Speaker 1: that naked on network TV is a little is a
- 24:13Speaker 1: little bizarre because it's not and it's not what It's
- 24:16Speaker 1: not that he's in his underwear. It's that we're not
- 24:20Speaker 1: highlighting that, we're highlighting shaft balls, all of it, Like
- 24:25Speaker 1: that's what the show, that's what the shot is highlighting.
- 24:28Speaker 1: And it's covered in a fire material. It's right, fire
- 24:31Speaker 1: covered balls and shafts all it's made to make. It's
- 24:34Speaker 1: made to make you not. Nobody's looking at Rob Maschio
- 24:38Speaker 1: in this and shaft and balls all rolled and all
- 24:43Speaker 1: rolled into a tight ball. That's enough to stop talking
- 24:46Speaker 1: about your willing um um. How funny speaking of of
- 24:53Speaker 1: of homosexuality, How funny. There were nights in the service
- 24:58Speaker 1: when it didn't seem too gre That ship was hilarious, Perry,
- 25:02Speaker 1: even if I went that way, And believe me, there
- 25:04Speaker 1: were knights in the service where it didn't seem that
- 25:06Speaker 1: was far fetched. Ted isn't my type, Yeah, and then
- 25:09Speaker 1: Ted goes, I beg to different I've seen in it.
- 25:14Speaker 1: There were knights in the service where it didn't seem
- 25:16Speaker 1: all that far fetched. So the so Jordan and Cox
- 25:22Speaker 1: are still married because of a Ted made of paperwork error. Right,
- 25:27Speaker 1: and he's still married to his ex wife who's married,
- 25:30Speaker 1: who is sleeping with his brother, right because his brother
- 25:34Speaker 1: has a hairpiece. Right, and but kels Kelso goes Mazzel
- 25:40Speaker 1: tubs all around. Ken Winningham directed this. Did we say that? No?
- 25:45Speaker 1: Ken Winningham directed this, and we like Ken Winningham a lot.
- 25:49Speaker 1: He's a very talented director. And it was written by
- 25:54Speaker 1: Gabrielle Allen. Let's talk about You've been graveled. Donald because
- 25:57Speaker 1: this is the introduction. There's a few things here that
- 25:59Speaker 1: are scrubs runners that are introduced here. One of them
- 26:04Speaker 1: is the You've Been Graveled game? Does this come back?
- 26:07Speaker 1: I forgot. I don't know. I don't know that it
- 26:08Speaker 1: comes back, but I will say this, this was this
- 26:11Speaker 1: was one of those things where Turk and JD are
- 26:15Speaker 1: really pushing hard for this game to work. Yeah, and
- 26:18Speaker 1: if it does come back, I don't know if the
- 26:20Speaker 1: two of them can be the ones that graveled the
- 26:23Speaker 1: next person like it would have to be somebody like Molly.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I think maybe Molly gravels somebody. I think it does
- 26:29Speaker 1: come back. We asked Trevor Ricky. We haven't asked him
- 26:31Speaker 1: anything in a while, and he's got the signed Funco pops.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Let's get it, okay, Trevor. In this episode, we learned
- 26:38Speaker 1: that JD and Turk are trying to get the game
- 26:42Speaker 1: gravel You've Been Graveled to catch on. Does this come
- 26:45Speaker 1: back in future episodes? I don't remember if this is
- 26:47Speaker 1: the only episode where people are graveled. Happy Season four, Donald, Zach,
- 26:52Speaker 1: Joel and Daniel, j D and Turk have a lot
- 26:54Speaker 1: of fun games. My personal favorite is coming up in
- 26:57Speaker 1: a few episodes in My Roommates, but gravel is only
- 27:00Speaker 1: mentioned in this episode My New Game. But if you're
- 27:03Speaker 1: looking for more gravel themed hijinks, there's a similar prank
- 27:06Speaker 1: in My Finale where Doctor Kelso and Donnie replaced Ted's
- 27:09Speaker 1: coffee with dirt. Thanks Trevor. That and then okay, so
- 27:15Speaker 1: that ship was hilarious. When Turk finally realizes that JD
- 27:21Speaker 1: was the one that graveled him, and he says to JD,
- 27:27Speaker 1: hey man, no, Turk says, I mean, JD says the Turk, Well,
- 27:32Speaker 1: what about putty pants? No, Plato pants? Yeah, what about
- 27:36Speaker 1: Plato pants? What the fuck is that game? And then
- 27:38Speaker 1: I know? And then Turk says, well plato pants became
- 27:41Speaker 1: all about the money? Yeah? And then hell about backstories?
- 27:44Speaker 1: I don't know, there's no backstory. It was just something
- 27:47Speaker 1: that we made up. Right. Then there's two moments. There's
- 27:49Speaker 1: two moments in this episode that are like I have
- 27:52Speaker 1: no like so random and then not explained. This is
- 27:55Speaker 1: one of them. We don't know anything about what Plato
- 27:57Speaker 1: pants is or why it became all about the money,
- 28:00Speaker 1: and we'd have no idea what that game is, And
- 28:02Speaker 1: the other at the end of the episode when in
- 28:04Speaker 1: the baseball we're at the baseball field. Why am I
- 28:08Speaker 1: tackled for no reason? And no reason whatsoever whatsoever? And
- 28:12Speaker 1: the guy doesn't even say sorry, and you don't address it.
- 28:15Speaker 1: It just happens. And the guy throws the baseball and
- 28:17Speaker 1: he almost hits me in the face with the baseball,
- 28:19Speaker 1: and I don't move. It's like, wait, this is a
- 28:21Speaker 1: weird And then ted you owe me money, which I
- 28:24Speaker 1: remember you wrote you that, I remember that, I remember
- 28:28Speaker 1: that that It's funny. I can't believe you remember that.
- 28:29Speaker 1: I was so proud of that. That was such a
- 28:31Speaker 1: great joke because it one it closes the show, but
- 28:34Speaker 1: it was such a I remember thinking, I remember thinking
- 28:39Speaker 1: that is that reminds me of like my cousin when
- 28:42Speaker 1: he gets drunk and fucking that is exactly what he
- 28:46Speaker 1: would say, some dumb shit like that, you owe me money,
- 28:49Speaker 1: right before he passed out. And you know what it
- 28:51Speaker 1: really reminds me of, though, what it reminds me of
- 28:55Speaker 1: a certain night that you and I went out. No,
- 28:58Speaker 1: I didn't go out. You were at home. Did we
- 29:02Speaker 1: go out that night? I've got more money than you.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I've got more money than you. I've got more money
- 29:10Speaker 1: than all of you, and then passed out right on
- 29:12Speaker 1: his face. Yeah, Donald, and I knew someone who got
- 29:15Speaker 1: so hammered. And we were all back at my house
- 29:17Speaker 1: hanging out, and he was so embarrassingly drunk that he
- 29:21Speaker 1: was like, we got more money than you, and I
- 29:26Speaker 1: have got money than you. And he's like pointing at us,
- 29:30Speaker 1: and then like one Mississippi, two, Mississippi, three, Misissippi, collapsed,
- 29:34Speaker 1: passes out. That's how he went out. That's how he
- 29:37Speaker 1: went out. He passes out with his pass Not only
- 29:39Speaker 1: does he pass out, he passes out with his ass
- 29:41Speaker 1: up in the air. And then and then Josh goes.
- 29:43Speaker 1: I wonder what he's dreaming about, and Zach goes, probably
- 29:48Speaker 1: all of his money. Oh it's so awkward, but um,
- 29:53Speaker 1: but yeah, I don't know why. For me, it was
- 29:56Speaker 1: so fun on occasion when I would come up with
- 29:58Speaker 1: a line on set or one of those guys like
- 30:01Speaker 1: Sam and just like, oh my god, this would be
- 30:04Speaker 1: a funny thing for Ted to say before he passed out,
- 30:07Speaker 1: and then Sam does it and does it's so funny.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I just remember you and I were belly laughing. It
- 30:11Speaker 1: was laughing so hard. I owe me money. I remember
- 30:17Speaker 1: thinking that was such a genius joke too, Like, wow,
- 30:19Speaker 1: Zach fucking wrote, that's a great that's the first time
- 30:23Speaker 1: season four. It's the first time he thought I wrote
- 30:25Speaker 1: a funny joke. No, well, everything else was kind of
- 30:28Speaker 1: like a button. This is like, this was a joke
- 30:30Speaker 1: that went on from him pouring the uh the alcohol
- 30:35Speaker 1: in the thing, and now he's drunk. He's drunk. He's drunk.
- 30:38Speaker 1: He drank the booze so fast because literally it's like
- 30:41Speaker 1: a minute after he said something like I go thirsty ted,
- 30:47Speaker 1: he goes, it makes the tears taste less bitter, right,
- 30:53Speaker 1: and then he's drunk quick. Really not much of a drinker,
- 31:00Speaker 1: but he really pounds down in that fucking vodka. Hey, um,
- 31:03Speaker 1: I laughed a lot at when I'm walking on the street.
- 31:07Speaker 1: This is the episode if you haven't watched it, where
- 31:08Speaker 1: Jad's obsessed with being co chief and he wants to
- 31:11Speaker 1: be the real, just regular chief and he's had these
- 31:14Speaker 1: he has his business cards and he goes, I'm trying
- 31:17Speaker 1: not to make it about me, you know, unless there's
- 31:19Speaker 1: someone I could doink As he's handing this is the
- 31:25Speaker 1: first time I think that we hear the scooter referred
- 31:29Speaker 1: to as Sasha. No, no, just is it? Yeah? I
- 31:37Speaker 1: think so because this is report to Sasha. I guess
- 31:40Speaker 1: that's in your show, right, um? I forgot whereas gets.
- 31:45Speaker 1: By the way, my episode's coming up, the one that
- 31:47Speaker 1: I directed that you all know is the best episode
- 31:49Speaker 1: in the Scrub's history. It's coming up very soon. I
- 31:52Speaker 1: just looked at the Majigi and it says four oh eight.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I always thought, for some reason it was fifth season,
- 31:58Speaker 1: but it's not. It's the episode of season four. Well,
- 32:02Speaker 1: so it has to be our little, our little, our
- 32:05Speaker 1: little spreadsheet that Joel made, says Zach Braft, director, are
- 32:10Speaker 1: you a good surgeon? By the way, I don't think.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I don't know that Turk is a good surgeon? I
- 32:14Speaker 1: wrote down today, I wrote down in this episode, is
- 32:16Speaker 1: Turk a good surgeon? I don't know. That doesn't seem
- 32:19Speaker 1: like you're great? And no, I think he's a good Okay,
- 32:22Speaker 1: I don't know that he's a good surgeon. I'll say
- 32:24Speaker 1: that I do know that Todd's a better surgeon. Todd
- 32:27Speaker 1: is probably the best surgeon in the He is the
- 32:30Speaker 1: best surgeon in the hospital. And Turk is very very
- 32:35Speaker 1: very jealous of it, right, But I mean you literally
- 32:38Speaker 1: sew your gown to the patient in this episode. It's
- 32:43Speaker 1: happened before. I'm sure. I'm sure it's happened before. The people.
- 32:48Speaker 1: You know, nobody's perfect. I heard of a story of
- 32:53Speaker 1: some some surgeon had they were cutting some tube and
- 32:58Speaker 1: they they had like the covering down on the person's body,
- 33:01Speaker 1: and they were cutting the tube on the cloth or
- 33:04Speaker 1: whatever it is that covers the person's body, and when
- 33:07Speaker 1: they were cleaning up, they saw that the knife had
- 33:10Speaker 1: gone through to the person's leg. That sounds horrible, man.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I'm sure she like that happens
- 33:17Speaker 1: all the time. And then you know they're like, um, yeah, hey,
- 33:21Speaker 1: for free, we uh took a little benign tumor out
- 33:24Speaker 1: of your leg. All good god? Oh they lied. No,
- 33:28Speaker 1: I don't know that that's the end of the story.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I'm saying. I wonder if that's what people do. They're like, hey,
- 33:33Speaker 1: we saw something on your leg that was a little sketchy,
- 33:36Speaker 1: so don't worry. For free, we took it out, didn't
- 33:39Speaker 1: We have a moral episode one of those episodes where
- 33:41Speaker 1: Turk made a mistake and then went and told the yeah,
- 33:45Speaker 1: we just passed that. Yeah, you were like yeah, And
- 33:50Speaker 1: when we were recording that, I was like, I don't
- 33:52Speaker 1: know if they just go and admit that they fucked
- 33:54Speaker 1: up like that? Well, what do I know? Is the
- 33:57Speaker 1: caller here, Joel, let's invite the person in here. You
- 34:01Speaker 1: want to go to break first? Oh? Sorry, We're gonna
- 34:03Speaker 1: go to break everybody and we come back. We've got
- 34:06Speaker 1: a very exciting caller. Um, Joel, do we have any
- 34:10Speaker 1: presidents to give away? Uh? He could be our February
- 34:14Speaker 1: giveaway if you like. Yeah, I have so much leftover
- 34:18Speaker 1: merch from my different projects. I was thinking we could
- 34:20Speaker 1: also give away my old merchu. I think that work
- 34:25Speaker 1: I have, I wish I have, wish I was here
- 34:28Speaker 1: records love that? Oh god, I think this guy. Yeah,
- 34:32Speaker 1: I got Vinyl, Uh, wish I was here and Garden
- 34:36Speaker 1: States soundtracks. You should send that to Daniel he'd like that,
- 34:41Speaker 1: And to Joel Daniel, I didn't know a like. Look,
- 34:46Speaker 1: I mean, you know, we can save this for later.
- 34:48Speaker 1: But I've purposely not tried to fan boy as much
- 34:50Speaker 1: as possible. But surely you two know I literally grew
- 34:53Speaker 1: up watching Scrubs. Garden State is one of my favorite
- 34:56Speaker 1: and my family's favorite movies. The soundtrack is like a
- 34:58Speaker 1: soundtrack of our It is one of our family's favorite
- 35:01Speaker 1: soundtracks of all time. We don't need to go into
- 35:03Speaker 1: this right now, but like we can, we can. Why
- 35:08Speaker 1: are you sicking your head? Is all I'm hearing. All
- 35:10Speaker 1: I hear right now is dear Slim, I wrote you,
- 35:14Speaker 1: but you still in calling. I love. I sell my
- 35:16Speaker 1: painter and my home phone at the bottom. I sent
- 35:19Speaker 1: two letters back in autumn. You must not have got him.
- 35:21Speaker 1: There probably was a problem at the post office or something.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Sometimes sometimes too sloppy when my job. All right, but
- 35:30Speaker 1: anyway from my chest on that. Now we'll be right
- 35:34Speaker 1: back with with my my super fan and Joel and Daniel,
- 35:38Speaker 1: right back and we're bad, Daniel, Yes, this is gonna
- 35:50Speaker 1: be yours, Oh my god. And it's eighty graham n
- 35:57Speaker 1: dear mister, I'm too good to call her. All right,
- 36:01Speaker 1: my fans, this will be the last time that I
- 36:04Speaker 1: ever one hundred and eighty Grahams. That's good for record,
- 36:08Speaker 1: that record right a vinyl right THC. I'm so touched,
- 36:12Speaker 1: Thank you man, thank you. And it's been six months
- 36:15Speaker 1: and still no word. I don't deserve it. Inside is
- 36:19Speaker 1: a personal letter for me, Daniel. Oh there it is,
- 36:23Speaker 1: there it is. Oh God, he knows you, he knows
- 36:27Speaker 1: He wrote the last two letters perfect between. I had
- 36:32Speaker 1: this interesting story about this. Um, this crane were standing
- 36:36Speaker 1: on the flower was actually graffiti that was there way
- 36:40Speaker 1: and this didn't say New Jersey. It said um some
- 36:43Speaker 1: other some crane branding. But they changed it to New Jersey. Nice.
- 36:48Speaker 1: That's gorgeous. Thank you so much for how many? How many?
- 36:51Speaker 1: How many black people win the soundtrack? Um? Not many.
- 36:58Speaker 1: There doesn't appear to be any African Americans on the soundtrack.
- 37:01Speaker 1: You didn't even have met the man on the soundtrack? Man,
- 37:04Speaker 1: my god, at what point in the movie. I'm just
- 37:07Speaker 1: I'm just put this is. This is how I got
- 37:10Speaker 1: out of having to read the script. I just want
- 37:15Speaker 1: all right, Daniel, and we'll give that to you and
- 37:17Speaker 1: maybe we'll give it to us. That's really awesome, dude,
- 37:20Speaker 1: that's we're letting him in. Anthony, Anthony Balistrari. I believe
- 37:24Speaker 1: what's up? Anthony? Welcome thunderous applause Daniel for Anthony, Alice
- 37:32Speaker 1: and heavy. All right, there you go, you got it,
- 37:35Speaker 1: you got it. I don't but have you ever done
- 37:39Speaker 1: Oprah voice with an Italian last name? Donald Italian? So
- 37:47Speaker 1: welcome to the program sir, How are you? I'm great,
- 37:50Speaker 1: I'm great. How are you? Where are you? Calling in
- 37:52Speaker 1: from a arbor, Michigan? Well, well, and arbor in the house.
- 37:57Speaker 1: It's cold there. I'm gonna hold up, I'm gonna hold
- 37:59Speaker 1: up my hand. Where are you here? Zack? You got
- 38:02Speaker 1: it right? But it's right, okay. This is how they
- 38:04Speaker 1: tell you in Michigan. You hold up your hand and
- 38:06Speaker 1: he's right here. You're right. Every Michigan or I've met
- 38:08Speaker 1: has done that same thing. It's I'm sorry, you know what.
- 38:11Speaker 1: I just did that, the same thing. You know. Whenever
- 38:13Speaker 1: I tell me I'm from Jersey, they say what exit?
- 38:16Speaker 1: And I just hate that, And I just did it
- 38:17Speaker 1: to you. I did the hand thing from Michigan. I'm
- 38:19Speaker 1: sorry now, folks from Jersey and they tell me there's
- 38:23Speaker 1: a central Jersey that people not from Jersey don't know about.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Jersey's huge and people don't know much about it. You
- 38:30Speaker 1: know what I hate about people's shit about Jersey. Excuse
- 38:34Speaker 1: my my digression, but you know, people give This was
- 38:38Speaker 1: kind of one of the points of Garden State was like,
- 38:40Speaker 1: I wanted to show how beautiful it was. People. It's
- 38:42Speaker 1: the Garden State. I mean, that's why they call it.
- 38:44Speaker 1: People fly into Newark. It's one of the biggest international
- 38:46Speaker 1: airports in the world. Newark is our industrial area where
- 38:49Speaker 1: you know, it's a city, but obviously the airport is
- 38:51Speaker 1: the industrial park. So you land and people are like,
- 38:54Speaker 1: this is Jersey. Ah, Jersey's beautiful. I bet, I bet
- 39:00Speaker 1: end of Tyrade, end of Tyree. You know, I like
- 39:02Speaker 1: the industrial part of Jersey. I'm gonna be honest with you. Yeah,
- 39:06Speaker 1: you spent some time there. I spent quite a bit
- 39:08Speaker 1: of time there, like almost eight nine months there. And uh,
- 39:15Speaker 1: I love Jersey and shout out to shout out to
- 39:18Speaker 1: Jersey and shout out to the whole tri state area.
- 39:21Speaker 1: How about Yeah, well, I think we shoun just give Jersey,
- 39:23Speaker 1: shout out Michigan. Shout out Michigan, especially since we're giving
- 39:27Speaker 1: out these gifts from here. But it's nice. Um, all right, Anthony,
- 39:32Speaker 1: do you have a question for us? Well, first, for
- 39:36Speaker 1: a specific reason. All right, Anthony Wright in for yours,
- 39:38Speaker 1: tell us about your specific reason. It's sorry, Joel, I did, Yeah,
- 39:41Speaker 1: you know, Joel, and I were talking beforehand, I thought
- 39:44Speaker 1: I might just read out my email. Um, you'll be
- 39:47Speaker 1: the first call you've ever had read an email, but
- 39:49Speaker 1: I'm going to approve it. Turn your key, sir, turn.
- 39:58Speaker 1: So I said, Hey, Joel, you know I've got I
- 40:00Speaker 1: just got done listening to episode four or one my
- 40:03Speaker 1: Old Friend's New Friend with Heather Graham that was at
- 40:06Speaker 1: Leased today. Your caller, the pharmacist tech, mentioned something about
- 40:09Speaker 1: the Fiser vaccine, which was not true, so I wanted
- 40:12Speaker 1: to offer some clarification for you Donald and the rest
- 40:15Speaker 1: of the fans. Though she was correct in saying that
- 40:19Speaker 1: historically many vaccines are prepared using embryonated chicken eggs. These
- 40:23Speaker 1: new mRNA vaccines produced by Fiser and Maderna are not
- 40:26Speaker 1: made that way. So I then provided Joel and the
- 40:30Speaker 1: email a couple of different excerpts from from documents saying
- 40:35Speaker 1: that these mRNA vaccines are made in a self free way,
- 40:39Speaker 1: so they're not So you needn't you needn't worry. You
- 40:42Speaker 1: want us to broadcast to all over the world, which
- 40:44Speaker 1: we can do for you now, thank you for this
- 40:46Speaker 1: public service that you needn't worry if you have an
- 40:49Speaker 1: egg allergy about these vaccines. Yeah, I would say no,
- 40:53Speaker 1: there's there's basically no egg. There's no egg in it
- 40:56Speaker 1: at all. So okay, yes, I call on Donald go,
- 40:59Speaker 1: I have I have a question now. Okay, So now
- 41:03Speaker 1: do you know about vaccine or is this just something
- 41:05Speaker 1: that you know that this vaccine doesn't have? Yeah, you know,
- 41:08Speaker 1: I'm about chemist. I know quite a few things about
- 41:11Speaker 1: a lot of stuff. I know stuff about vaccines. I'm
- 41:14Speaker 1: I'm not an expert, but I can tell you maybe
- 41:16Speaker 1: some stuff. Yeah, here's my question. Right, hear that Johnson
- 41:19Speaker 1: and Johnson's vaccine is coming out and it's DNA based.
- 41:24Speaker 1: What is the difference between DNA based and what does
- 41:27Speaker 1: that mean and the difference between what Fiser and Maderna is. Sure. Yeah,
- 41:34Speaker 1: you know I can speak more on the MR and
- 41:35Speaker 1: A vaccines because you know, in the last twenty four
- 41:38Speaker 1: hours I've tried to read out quite a bit more
- 41:40Speaker 1: on them. But the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is is
- 41:43Speaker 1: something different. It's not this new technology, however, it is
- 41:45Speaker 1: something that is it's not an old old technology as well.
- 41:49Speaker 1: They're using an aa V vector, so this is another virus. However,
- 41:54Speaker 1: it doesn't cause any disease in humans, and so they're
- 41:58Speaker 1: just using that same system too, in some viral DNA
- 42:02Speaker 1: into sales in order to create that immunological response. And
- 42:06Speaker 1: the Johnson Johnson one is coming out, right, it's it's happening. Yeah.
- 42:10Speaker 1: I think you know that they're probably applying for their
- 42:13Speaker 1: EUA somewhat soon. So I think their data is coming
- 42:15Speaker 1: out and then it looks pretty good. The last time
- 42:17Speaker 1: I checked, it wasn't as effective as these mr Anda ones,
- 42:20Speaker 1: but still definitely useful, especially because it's not stored in
- 42:23Speaker 1: the same way it can be stored at. Oh you
- 42:25Speaker 1: don't need the freezing cold you don't need the freezing
- 42:28Speaker 1: cold freezer special freezer thing. Yeah, that's right. What's your opinion, Anthony,
- 42:32Speaker 1: on whether the government should be giving out all the
- 42:37Speaker 1: second doses as as they come in or holding them back,
- 42:41Speaker 1: because that seems to be a point of contention these days. Yeah.
- 42:45Speaker 1: So I think we should really stick with what that
- 42:48Speaker 1: first authorization much said, which was that we should have
- 42:50Speaker 1: two doses separated by this amount of time, because that's
- 42:53Speaker 1: where all that data was showing. You know, they have
- 42:56Speaker 1: some data showing, you know, how effective it is with
- 42:59Speaker 1: just one dose, but that you know, they were only
- 43:01Speaker 1: tracking a certain amount of people like that, and that
- 43:04Speaker 1: was because you know, those people didn't show up for
- 43:06Speaker 1: their second dose or whatever, So that that's a much
- 43:09Speaker 1: smaller amount of people. We have much more data showing that, yes,
- 43:12Speaker 1: two doses can be this effective. And I think, I know,
- 43:15Speaker 1: but the trick is that, like you've got to the
- 43:17Speaker 1: logistics of planning to withhold these doses even though there's
- 43:22Speaker 1: a line around the corner, because everyone needs their second dose.
- 43:25Speaker 1: We got we gotta count on the fact if we
- 43:28Speaker 1: give these out that the second doses for the people
- 43:31Speaker 1: that already got their first dose will be back in time.
- 43:33Speaker 1: You know. That's that's a lot of trust in the
- 43:36Speaker 1: in the system. You're right, it's a crazy thing. It's
- 43:38Speaker 1: a crazy thing that we're even suggesting that we can do.
- 43:41Speaker 1: You know that the fact that we can sort of say, oh,
- 43:43Speaker 1: we're going to try and make all these things and
- 43:46Speaker 1: send them out to all these people, that's that's a
- 43:48Speaker 1: logistical nightmare. I can't even think about, you know, what
- 43:51Speaker 1: it would take to do something like this. Well, they
- 43:53Speaker 1: haven't quite dumb. They haven't figured I'm about to say,
- 43:56Speaker 1: they haven't figured it out. The rollout. I'm gonna be
- 43:58Speaker 1: honest with you, in my opinion, slows. I think it's
- 44:01Speaker 1: been very slow, as I think it's been especially slow
- 44:04Speaker 1: in African American communities and in Latino American communities. And
- 44:09Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like if you look at
- 44:11Speaker 1: the data, it shows that white Americans are getting vaccine
- 44:16Speaker 1: a lot more than minorities in America, and that's that's
- 44:20Speaker 1: that's crazy to me. But as well, I understand that Anthony,
- 44:24Speaker 1: there wasn't really a federal plan, I mean, the previous
- 44:28Speaker 1: administration and just said to the states, like figure it out,
- 44:31Speaker 1: right now they have to turn and build a federal infrastructure.
- 44:34Speaker 1: I know that they are. I know that they asked
- 44:36Speaker 1: for military help manpower to help distribute vaccines. Don't you
- 44:41Speaker 1: think that will make it a little bit more organize
- 44:43Speaker 1: those zac Like i've in some ways, this is one
- 44:46Speaker 1: of the first time where it's like I kind of
- 44:49Speaker 1: wouldn't mind having you know, military medical personnel. No, I'm
- 44:54Speaker 1: I'm all for it. Do something, do something. We're we're
- 44:58Speaker 1: this incredibly rich country. We and like more money times
- 45:03Speaker 1: one hundred than anybody else does in the military. Use
- 45:07Speaker 1: them for something that's actually not going to put men
- 45:09Speaker 1: and women's life in danger, use them in any way, Well,
- 45:12Speaker 1: their life is going to still be in danger. It's
- 45:15Speaker 1: COVID man, So they're still risking catching COVID and dying
- 45:19Speaker 1: from cokay, And of course I'm just saying they're not
- 45:22Speaker 1: We're not sending them off to a foreign waders, saying
- 45:24Speaker 1: let's help heal the help them unbuild the country. Understood.
- 45:28Speaker 1: You know, it's important to note that that progress is
- 45:30Speaker 1: being made. You know, I'm from San Diego and I
- 45:32Speaker 1: lived there all my life before I turned eighteen, and
- 45:35Speaker 1: so I try to keep my my ear down at
- 45:37Speaker 1: what's happening down there. And they're setting up these huge
- 45:40Speaker 1: vaccine deployment things. There's one in Pecco, the place where
- 45:44Speaker 1: the Padres play. There's there's more being made all the time.
- 45:48Speaker 1: They want to do five thousand gosts a day. And
- 45:49Speaker 1: although that's not fast enough, it's something right, it's getting out. No,
- 45:54Speaker 1: didn't they set something up like that here at Dodger Stadium. No,
- 45:57Speaker 1: there's one in rivers Side. Riverside has the you don't
- 46:02Speaker 1: have All you have to do is make an appointment
- 46:04Speaker 1: and live in the Riverside area. It's a mass vaccination
- 46:08Speaker 1: uh spot in California, in Riverside, Caloria. You still got
- 46:12Speaker 1: to be over sixty five. No, it's anybody who wants
- 46:16Speaker 1: to get vaccinated that lives in the city of Riverside,
- 46:20Speaker 1: in the County of Riverside. Really, yeahses, I thought I
- 46:24Speaker 1: thought we had made a national rule that So what's happening.
- 46:28Speaker 1: So what's happening is that doses are being sent to
- 46:31Speaker 1: the state from now. Remember this is what I'm reading
- 46:35Speaker 1: here and not reading. This is what I'm seeing on
- 46:37Speaker 1: the news, So please do It's on the news, and
- 46:40Speaker 1: I'm quoting the news, So please don't jump on me
- 46:43Speaker 1: if you feel like I've misquoted somebody. Wow, we have
- 46:46Speaker 1: Anthony here to clarify any fuck up you make. No,
- 46:50Speaker 1: don't do that to him. That's not it's not right.
- 46:53Speaker 1: It's not right. Nobody deserves that prost. We should have
- 46:55Speaker 1: real GD back on because mister dials. So. But check
- 46:59Speaker 1: this out. So check this out. This is what's happening
- 47:01Speaker 1: across America with this rollout. Some places are set up
- 47:06Speaker 1: to deliver vaccine by appointment to the elderly. What happens
- 47:11Speaker 1: is this happened in La in Los Angeles County at
- 47:16Speaker 1: they were supposed to go till let's say it was
- 47:18Speaker 1: from eight o'clock in the morning to eight o'clock in
- 47:21Speaker 1: the night. They were doing their due diligence and giving
- 47:25Speaker 1: the vaccine to everyone that had the appointment, and at
- 47:29Speaker 1: seven o'clock somebody shows up with five hundred more vaccine
- 47:36Speaker 1: of containers of vaccine, and it's like, here, we've got
- 47:41Speaker 1: more vaccine. Now they don't have an appointment. These things
- 47:44Speaker 1: are gonna run out, They're gonna they're gonna expire. Yeah,
- 47:49Speaker 1: what do you do? This guy runs out into the
- 47:51Speaker 1: street and starts giving vaccine to people walking down the street.
- 47:56Speaker 1: If they're giving out vaccine and they're not carrying out
- 48:00Speaker 1: how it's being or not transported, but how it's being
- 48:02Speaker 1: taken care of, how it's being administered, If they're not
- 48:05Speaker 1: putting the infrastructure into place, what do you expect people
- 48:08Speaker 1: to do. So the City of Riverside, it seems like
- 48:10Speaker 1: it's like, look, if we have this vaccine, let's give
- 48:13Speaker 1: it away. Let's not throw it out. I've heard that.
- 48:16Speaker 1: I've heard anecdotally some stories about LA where there's distribution centers,
- 48:21Speaker 1: Like you're saying that run out of Senior citizen appointments
- 48:24Speaker 1: or run out of you know, all the people that
- 48:26Speaker 1: are eligible in whatever this is called one? Are we
- 48:29Speaker 1: in one? B? Is that what we're in now? I
- 48:31Speaker 1: don't know. I think it's called like whatever this is
- 48:33Speaker 1: like it's like supermarket workers, frontline workers, healthcare workers, and
- 48:37Speaker 1: everyone over sixty five, and so they don't have anyone
- 48:40Speaker 1: like you're saying, and so people are like lining up
- 48:42Speaker 1: like it's like a sneaker store or or supreme and
- 48:47Speaker 1: and waiting to be like, you know, you're gonna throw
- 48:50Speaker 1: them away? Can I get one of those? And so
- 48:52Speaker 1: that's become like a like a thing people are doing.
- 48:55Speaker 1: They're like waiting, and some days they don't get it,
- 48:58Speaker 1: some days they do. There are a bunch of is
- 49:00Speaker 1: there are a bunch of ways that you can get
- 49:01Speaker 1: vaccine and not be you know, a senior or there
- 49:07Speaker 1: are a bunch of ways I've I've you can volunteer
- 49:10Speaker 1: from what I understand, at the sites and watch, you know,
- 49:16Speaker 1: observe people administering. That feels like that feels like trying
- 49:22Speaker 1: to do something to get it feels I don't know,
- 49:25Speaker 1: a bit sketchy to me, Like you're like you're cutting
- 49:27Speaker 1: whereas whereas like we're in a line because they're gonna
- 49:31Speaker 1: go bad and no one's here. Feels like you're not cutting.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean? I don't think I don't.
- 49:36Speaker 1: That's the thing though, the way it's being rolled out
- 49:39Speaker 1: right now, I don't know that. It feels like even
- 49:44Speaker 1: the government seems to be like survival of the fittest
- 49:46Speaker 1: because they're not. They don't give a crap on who's
- 49:49Speaker 1: or it feels like that. That's what it feels like
- 49:52Speaker 1: when you watch the news and you're given the information
- 49:55Speaker 1: from the news, That's what it feels like. It feels
- 49:57Speaker 1: like we aren't the country isn't doing enough to protect
- 50:03Speaker 1: people from COVID. That's what it feels like. That's the
- 50:06Speaker 1: narrative that the important thing is that these vaccines were
- 50:09Speaker 1: made in order to protect people from the risk of
- 50:14Speaker 1: it getting this disease, and everyone that is at a risk,
- 50:17Speaker 1: which are is mostly older people, but people that have
- 50:19Speaker 1: pre existing conditions, they should be able to get it
- 50:22Speaker 1: as quickly as possible. Well, we know somebody who didn't
- 50:25Speaker 1: have a pre pre existing condition and he passed away
- 50:29Speaker 1: from uh, from COVID, And you know what I mean,
- 50:34Speaker 1: Like and he was forty years old and healthy and
- 50:37Speaker 1: years and trainer. And so it's like, if it's available
- 50:41Speaker 1: and other people don't want it, to give it to
- 50:43Speaker 1: the people who do It's it's just that simple, you know.
- 50:45Speaker 1: Um yeah, yeah, all right, let's some segue because we've
- 50:48Speaker 1: got a long time on this and we're trying to
- 50:50Speaker 1: we're trying to do a show for the haters. So
- 50:52Speaker 1: we got we're doing a show for the haters. And
- 50:53Speaker 1: I feel like right now we're talking to all the
- 50:55Speaker 1: lovers out there, you know, but we worry about it.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Don't worry about it. The haters want us to speak
- 51:09Speaker 1: things up and talk about things that the haters want,
- 51:12Speaker 1: the real true has, The real true haters just want
- 51:16Speaker 1: Donald and I to solely talk about Scrubs and spend
- 51:20Speaker 1: ninety minutes dissecting the episode. Now, Donal and I wouldn't
- 51:24Speaker 1: do this show if that were the rules, because we
- 51:26Speaker 1: would find it quite boring. What we enjoy is the
- 51:29Speaker 1: pattern and laughing like we do as friends, as Turk
- 51:33Speaker 1: and j D did on Scrubs. Because m seven of
- 51:36Speaker 1: my Instagram commentars got in my head, we're giving them one.
- 51:40Speaker 1: We're trying to we're making a show for the haters.
- 51:43Speaker 1: They're gonna get one, get one episode out of nine seasons.
- 51:46Speaker 1: What's that? This actually comes right into the question that
- 51:50Speaker 1: I had Antony. They would play Anthony perfect, Anthony would
- 51:53Speaker 1: be great? Does that even play ante? Anthony would be great?
- 51:59Speaker 1: I hear I hear Antoine sometimes and my family calls
- 52:02Speaker 1: me aunts an tz. Anthony's one of those names where
- 52:04Speaker 1: you can pick from a myriad of nicknames, like William. Oh,
- 52:08Speaker 1: but not Tony though A thousand percent not Tony. All right,
- 52:12Speaker 1: thank you all terrible? What about ants? Answer is great?
- 52:15Speaker 1: That's awesome. Go ahead, man, ask what's your question? So
- 52:19Speaker 1: you know, I wanted it to be somewhat thought provoking,
- 52:21Speaker 1: so I tried to Joel. Joel only gave me like
- 52:24Speaker 1: twenty hours to come up with a question, not even
- 52:31Speaker 1: less than I probably twell, go ahead anyway. This question
- 52:35Speaker 1: is for all you guys, um and it came from
- 52:38Speaker 1: a recent argument, loving but somewhat heated argument between me
- 52:42Speaker 1: and my best friend, who, of course I have to
- 52:44Speaker 1: shout out. His name's Matthew Sorrow. He is the JD,
- 52:48Speaker 1: the JD to my turken. Yeah, I love that, your brother,
- 52:51Speaker 1: I love Yeah. We took a we we dressed up
- 52:55Speaker 1: as Halloween and I was I was Turkey, he was.
- 52:57Speaker 1: But you didn't do black face. I didn't not do blackface. Okay,
- 53:01Speaker 1: the picture graduate. Every every year Donald has to warn
- 53:03Speaker 1: people do a public service announcement. You're welcome to play Turk.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Please don't face yourself. All right, go ahead. Uh So
- 53:11Speaker 1: the question is is about modern criticism? Um So, it
- 53:16Speaker 1: seems like increasingly these days, audiences feel like they have
- 53:22Speaker 1: a sense of ownership over the content that they love.
- 53:25Speaker 1: So audiences will, you know, they'll fall in love with
- 53:28Speaker 1: a movie or a show or a video game or whatever,
- 53:32Speaker 1: and and then there's some time and the next episode
- 53:36Speaker 1: or the next movie or the next season comes out,
- 53:38Speaker 1: and if the plot points or the character arcs or
- 53:41Speaker 1: something doesn't fall out the way that that audience member
- 53:45Speaker 1: particularly wanted it to, then they now feel like that
- 53:48Speaker 1: content is trash. You know, it's not what they wanted it.
- 53:52Speaker 1: It was bad, it was unpoorly. You know. There's lots
- 53:54Speaker 1: of examples of this, right, like, uh, you know the
- 53:56Speaker 1: Last of Us Part two, which was that you were
- 54:00Speaker 1: going to say that the last I was like, I
- 54:03Speaker 1: wonder if this is based on the Last of Us
- 54:04Speaker 1: Part two. It's not just based on that. Uh, you know,
- 54:07Speaker 1: the Rise of Skywalker is a movie example, the last
- 54:10Speaker 1: hold on I think, I think, I know, interms of television,
- 54:17Speaker 1: the last season of Game of Thrones, right, it just
- 54:20Speaker 1: really really really hit it. So to me, you know
- 54:23Speaker 1: where I fall on this is that, uh, it takes
- 54:25Speaker 1: away some of the agency that the creator has to
- 54:29Speaker 1: create their artwork in the way that they want. So
- 54:30Speaker 1: when people take this perspective that I would rather as
- 54:34Speaker 1: something else have happened, So therefore you made the wrong decision.
- 54:38Speaker 1: I think that's that that's somehow SIT's wrong with me. However, Alternatively,
- 54:41Speaker 1: other people, you know, they feel like audiences should be
- 54:44Speaker 1: catered to because that's what this is for. This is
- 54:46Speaker 1: for their entertainment. And so I wanted the opinion of
- 54:49Speaker 1: you guys, as artists and creators, which you all are, um,
- 54:53Speaker 1: just to think, maybe how do you feel do you
- 54:55Speaker 1: see this trend happening? What do you feel about this
- 54:58Speaker 1: this type of problem? So so I am I love
- 55:03Speaker 1: that this is the type of conversation that I like
- 55:05Speaker 1: to have, and I wish a lot of people had
- 55:07Speaker 1: conversations like this because I think maybe a lot of
- 55:09Speaker 1: the things that happen, a lot of the bullying that happens,
- 55:12Speaker 1: a lot of the I don't want to say hatred,
- 55:15Speaker 1: but that's what it is that comes from people's emotions
- 55:19Speaker 1: and investing and when they invest in movies and stuff
- 55:22Speaker 1: like that. If it's talked about, we can we can
- 55:26Speaker 1: solve all of these problems. So I am one who
- 55:30Speaker 1: believes that the audience does have some ownership. And I
- 55:33Speaker 1: feel like if you create something and you put it
- 55:36Speaker 1: out there, you're doing it so that the audience can
- 55:38Speaker 1: feel like they do have a bit of ownership in it.
- 55:41Speaker 1: And I think that's what makes And I'm going to
- 55:45Speaker 1: bring this up because it's one of my favorite things
- 55:47Speaker 1: in the world with Star Wars. I love that Lucasfilm
- 55:52Speaker 1: and them give you ownership, like give a lot of
- 55:55Speaker 1: the fans ownership in from fan film to theory to whatever.
- 56:02Speaker 1: I love that. Now where it gets a little dicey, though,
- 56:05Speaker 1: is when things don't go your way as a as
- 56:11Speaker 1: a self proclaimed owner of whatever it is. Um, I'm
- 56:18Speaker 1: of the I'm of the feeling that if it's if
- 56:20Speaker 1: it's good, it doesn't matter. So uh where So, Like
- 56:28Speaker 1: I have issues with the last Jedi. I still think
- 56:34Speaker 1: it's a good movie. I just don't think it fits
- 56:38Speaker 1: in the Star Wars, the Star Wars Skywalker Saga. Do
- 56:45Speaker 1: I hate the Wars? I can't wait. We don't have
- 56:49Speaker 1: time here, but one day, do I do? I hate
- 56:53Speaker 1: the Last Jedi? No, I love the Last Jedi. I
- 56:56Speaker 1: just don't think it fits. And I think because of that,
- 57:00Speaker 1: the Rise of Skywalker suffered. That's me personally. I'm allowed
- 57:06Speaker 1: to think that. I'm allowed to have that opinion. It's
- 57:09Speaker 1: my opinion, that's all it is. But you're probably not
- 57:13Speaker 1: the guy who's on a board or on Twitter trashing.
- 57:17Speaker 1: It's so hard that well, it goes a little too far.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Then people become bullies and stuff like that. And that
- 57:25Speaker 1: happens and and and that's where it goes too far.
- 57:28Speaker 1: You know. What happened to some of the actors from
- 57:31Speaker 1: Star Wars is horrible and should have never happened. That
- 57:35Speaker 1: girl should have never Kelly Marie Trand was bullied. Uh,
- 57:40Speaker 1: i'med best, you know what I mean? You know, either
- 57:46Speaker 1: Daisy Ridley like she's no longer on social media because
- 57:49Speaker 1: of it. Yeah, um, and it's because and I think
- 57:53Speaker 1: it's because uh, you know, fans want to be heard,
- 58:00Speaker 1: and when people conflict, when people fight back, when there's pushback,
- 58:05Speaker 1: then it becomes a I don't know, man, everyone, I
- 58:08Speaker 1: don't know, man, I don't know how to I don't know.
- 58:10Speaker 1: This is a great thought provoking question. I feel like
- 58:13Speaker 1: ownership in something. I think ownership in something is is
- 58:19Speaker 1: that's how you know you have a hit. When people
- 58:21Speaker 1: are like I feel like I'm a part of this.
- 58:23Speaker 1: You know you've struck a nerve, you know what I mean.
- 58:27Speaker 1: I know it's a bit self destructive. It can be
- 58:30Speaker 1: self destructive. You can destroy the things you like. Like
- 58:35Speaker 1: I worry for Bill. I'm sure, I'm sure Ted Lasso
- 58:38Speaker 1: season two is gonna be amazing, right, But there's so
- 58:41Speaker 1: much hype and pressure for him to deliver, for him
- 58:45Speaker 1: and Jason to deliver something as good or better that
- 58:50Speaker 1: you just you just can't help it. Go. Oh God,
- 58:52Speaker 1: season two. I hope that they don't get and I
- 58:55Speaker 1: can just picture like people being like no through and
- 58:58Speaker 1: fighting sucks, and it's well, you know, it's a high
- 59:02Speaker 1: class problem. You've created something that are so passionate about.
- 59:05Speaker 1: But but it also is like it's it's very hard
- 59:09Speaker 1: to once people like something so much to still create
- 59:14Speaker 1: in that space without offending some portion of the audience,
- 59:19Speaker 1: and you have to care about that. You need to
- 59:21Speaker 1: worry your offending. I just jump in here real quick.
- 59:24Speaker 1: The point is the fans don't know what they want,
- 59:28Speaker 1: and it's a problem because sometimes fans think that they
- 59:31Speaker 1: have ownership to the extent that they know how a
- 59:34Speaker 1: story should unfold, instead of sitting back and going, this
- 59:37Speaker 1: is how I'd like the story too unfold. This is
- 59:39Speaker 1: why I'm such a promoter of fan fiction and fan fiction.
- 59:41Speaker 1: Anything you want to happen can happen, and you can
- 59:43Speaker 1: grove that in that own space, but you you can't
- 59:47Speaker 1: possibly I a writer and a critic, don't know what
- 59:51Speaker 1: I want from a show like I have ideas, I
- 59:53Speaker 1: have thoughts about it, but what I want is to
- 59:56Speaker 1: be surprised, and I cannot manufacture that surprise by guessing
- 59:58Speaker 1: what's going to happen at the end. And you want
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: a creator, especially if we're going to talk about franchises
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: or big tent pole things that like have this longevity
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: and an established tone and feel like we live in
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: these worlds. Sometimes hours were rewatching these movies. We know
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: every detail and so we are invested in them as
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: if they are. You know, for some of us, it's
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: like sports, like we know the players, we understand the
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: rules of the world and how it works, and so
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: we get very enveloped in like if it doesn't follow
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: those rules, it's hard to understand. What I think is
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: happening right now for fans is there's a new We've
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: reached a new platitude of a fandom. Right before, if
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: you liked a movie, you liked a movie, yeah the poster,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: maybe you saw it when it came to an old
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: theater and was rerunning. That was it. Now if you
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: like a movie or a TV show or a comic
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: or a franchise, there's like all this history involved in
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: this very long legacy, and there are now new people
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: allowed to tell those stories, right. And when you have
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: new people coming in to tell these stories, what they're
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: looking for is something that they got out of the
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: original fandom that wasn't at the surface. Right, So what
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: I love about Batman isn't necessarily Batman. He's like a
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: rich white guy going out to kick ass. I like
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: all his sidekicks who created a family for him and like,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: and that becomes his like main thing that he has
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: to focus on is his family not going to kill
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: the bad guys. Now, that's different than what Batman was
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: intended for, but it's no. It doesn't mean any less
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: of a fan. Makes me a different kind of fan.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: It makes me a fan who has a problem enjoying
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: a modern Batman movie. Right. That doesn't mean I don't
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: like it. It just means it's different, and we as
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: fans have to accept that there are two different roads
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: now and we have to appreciate those two roads. That
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: was my question. If you take that away, is it's
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: still a good Batman movie in your eyes? If I
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: take yeah, because it's still Batman. It's still the core
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: Batman that people can enjoy. I don't need to like
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: it to know that there's a fan base for it
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: and they freaking love it and they get a lot
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: of it. If you like Batman holding a gun power
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: to human, that's all you like. You can enjoy that.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: There's no problem with that. I hate it. I hate
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: it so much. I don't think Batman ever would touch
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: a gun. It's weird to me. But there's other content
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: for me to enjoy and I don't have to tear
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: down a filmmaker or his vision in the same way
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: I don't like them or drive him off Twitter, exactly, exactly.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: We have to allow space for all of our like
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: in the way that comic books has done really well
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: over the years, which is to say, if you don't
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: like a creator's vision, that's fine, don't buy it. It's different, right,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: It's different, and it doesn't make it wrong or bad.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: It's just different, and we can enjoy the different iterations
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: of the characters. Keepin. Years ago, no one had all
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: this ability to scream to the heavens everything. Yeah. I mean,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: this whole everyone can opine thing has created uh, you know,
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: it has created this issue. Well, I mean it's it's
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: one of it's one of the most interesting and one
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: of my I don't I don't hate it. I love
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: the fact that there's all this dialogue. I do hate
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: the bullying, but I love the fact that there's all
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: of this dialogue about you know, a project that seemed
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: to be one of my favorite things, that seemed to
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: be uh you know, the argument was it's the same
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: thing over and over again, and then when it was
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: given something different, it shifted people. You know, it made
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: people go the wrong way. It made a lot of
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: people go a different way. It made a lot of people,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: you know, it switched everybody up. I really seven to
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: eight you mean yeah? I well, yeah, seven to eight,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: two nine, all of it, you know what I mean?
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: It isn't Star Wars a good example of U. Ryan
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Johnson came out and made a film that was challenging everyone.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: Everyone screamed at it, so then they overcorrected and went
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: back to like just a loyal fans. That's a perfect
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: example of it. And I think, so here's the thing.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: It wasn't what a lot of fans wanted. That being said,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: it was still made and there's a great story that
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: could have happened afterwards. But there was such an uprising
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: with the fans and such an argument with the fans
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: that uh that that that you know, it's split, it's
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: split Star Wars in half. But it was like it's
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: almost like a civil war that's going on or that
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: was going on, and uh that they tried to correct it,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: and I think maybe that was I think maybe that
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: was a bad movie. I still love Star Wars. I
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: still I still watched The Rise of Skywalker. I still
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: watched The Last Jedi I still you know, I'm Me
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: and Joel talk about it all the time. Fans might
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: not know exactly what they want. They might think they
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: know what they Yeah, I agree with Joel. They might not.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: They might think they know what they want, but that's
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: not necessarily going to be satisfying to them. It's comfort food.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: It's comforting to just have something that's familiar. It's like
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: anything you tried that's different. You tighten up and you go, oh,
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: this is different, this isn't what I know, and and
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: I want the comfort. I want the safe thing. And
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: it also depends on how you think of movies and
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: stuff like that. You have to be invested. That's the
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: only way you can get to this level of fandom. Um,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: all right, well that was a very thought provoking question. Um, look,
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: I think we need to we need to kind of
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: end it because we're doing a short show today for
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: for the hater. You don't want to try and fix
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: his life? Do you have a fix your life problem?
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: Of course, I was gonna be at stought revoked start
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: though I can't. I can't even I can't even think
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: right now, not even once. One of my buttons on
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: the on the new thing we're getting is gonna be weed,
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: not even once. I hate you, all right, You're Sammy Sam.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: I hate you all right, A quick fix your life,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: so go ahead, all right. So you know, I'm a
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: young or relatively young, single guy, and I work a lot,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: and um, you know, I'm in graduate school. I I
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: lived in Silicon Valley before I moved out here to Michigan.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: And there's this culture of working all the time, work
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: with work, and I'm in this PhD program at this
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: big R one university like University of Michigan, and it's
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: just the same, you know, your work, work, work, And
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: I see myself kind of barreling down this career path
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: of you know, having all this work in my life
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: where I'm sort of pushing away the other things. So
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: I can see how and this would be my mom's opinion,
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: which she's made vocal before many times, that I don't
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: give myself enough time to dedicate to like the non
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: work life portions of my life, you know, like the
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: romantic life or hobbies or other work life balance sorts
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: of things. So I know that you guys have both
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: navigated these careers where you know there's seasons I'm sure
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: where You've got these times where you're not doing much,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: but then there are seasons where you're working all the time.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: In those seasons, how do you still find that balance?
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: You know, how do you still make time for rancial
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: relationships or other things? You have to choose it because
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: this is all you got. I mean, I always come
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: at it from the point of view I don't believe
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: in an afterlife, So this is all I got. Okay,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: I'm forty five years old. If I if I'm lucky,
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: let's say I make it to night, let's call it ninety.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: So I got forty five solid years. That's and then
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: that's it. Then they shovel me in the ground. What
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: are you going to do with that time? Of course,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: pursue your dreams and your goals like you are, But
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: do you want your one experience on earth not to
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: have love, not to have travel, not to have adventure? Um,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: you're it's sound, you're very smart. Obviously you're going to
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: achieve all your your career goals. I don't think anyone
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: listening could have any doubts about that. But the question
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: you have to ask yourself is what else do you
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: want your life to be about? And it's about dedicating
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: time to that, making it a make, committing choosing to
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: making time for it. Joy. Sure, Donald, that's tough. Um,
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: Zach and I got into an argument over stuff. We
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: get into arguments over things like no, it's it's it's
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: it's quite all right. Uh. You know, uh, work is
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: very very important, and I get that. I'm one of
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: the people who hates the fact that work is so
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: important in making it so that I can have the
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: things I want. But I get I get the fact
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: I get work hard and you achieve things. But I
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: hate that. Okay, here's the thing. Here's the thing. I
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: hate that I'm defined by how hard I work. I
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: think that is. I think that is in a lot
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: of ways, bullshit I think I should be. I don't
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: think I should be defined by anyone. I feel like,
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: if you are going to judge me, judge me by
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: how I'm hard. I love my family, Judge me by
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: how hard I here's my daughter. Right comes in listeners.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Right as he said that, Wilder came in for a hug.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: We're almost done. Okay, guys, my kid is going to
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: college today. He is Oh my god, he is leaving.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: He is leaving the Homestead to go way to college.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: That's exciting. Somewhere in California. Somewhere in California he can't
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: leave ulations. That's exciting. Yeah, he's going to art school
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: and he's you're getting your first nest moment. Yeah, it's
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: really it's pretty crazy. Only eleven more took a while
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: with all them kids. Yeah, well, Anthony, I don't know
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: you like that. First of all, you're getting a little
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: too comfortable taking shots at the host started. So that's
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: too much ownership, too much ownership right there. Anthony sounds
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: like as like Donaldson have a problem with that. That Anthony.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: I love it. I love Anthony's putting his feet up
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: on the desk and ship. I love that. As he
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: should or as he should Listen, we gotta go, Anthony,
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: because we're trying to to to appea our haters and
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: do a shorter shot. You're a lovely You're a lovely man. Thanks, guys,
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: you're a very thought provoking guest. Don't feel bad if
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: some of the Star Wars stuff is cut out, because
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: I don't want them Lucasfilm to be mad at me.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Oh my god, oh he said, you honor me, Daniel.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: He is a super fan. By the way, that's gonna
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: be a By the way, you saying you honor me
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: is gonna be another button on my path. Like you
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: honor me, you wannor me, Daniel, I need one also
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: that has a little record thing so I can be
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: honor me, honor me? How much you want your dad's
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: how much you want your I just want to fall
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: on DJ rig here all right, Uh, Anthony, good luck
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: in your pursuits. Oh, thank you, guys. We have no doubt.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: I wanted to plug a couple of things, if you can. Unway,
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: I got a professional Twitter, as one does these days.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: So if you guys wanted to shout that out, So
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: that's at a ballast underscore kem bio so a b
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: a l I s t underscore kem bioca. Especially if
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: you're a young lady looking for a PhD candidate. I
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: wouldn't disagree with you might and might live near Michigan.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: I just followed all you guys this morning on Twitter
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: and followed Donald on Instagram as well. Thank you very much,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: seven but only nobody that's only between you and me.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: Thank you. Also, you know, I wanted to say that
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: scientific communication is really tough. You know, the biggest story
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: in the world right now is a science story, and
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: there's people out there that are really trying to do
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: that and disseminate information in a good way. And it's
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: really hard, but there are people out there that do it.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: So if I could point everybody to this Weekend Virology,
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: which is a podcast as well as a YouTube channel
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: which is hosted by a virology professor at Columbia, and
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: it's a group of professors that get around and talk
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: about their virologists and immunologists that talk about everything that's
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: happening right now. And it's really good science talking and
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: it can be a little bit tough at times, but
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: they've got non scientists that list and it's great information
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: that I really I've been listening to lots of podcast lately,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: and I'll add that to my mix. Thank you. Andy
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: Slavitt is also a great follow. Andy Slavitt is now
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: I think one of Biden's people in charge of the
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: COVID response and he's a super smart guy on Twitter
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: all about everything. All right, Anthony, thank you so much.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: And those are that's a new section called Anthony's Plugs.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: We're gonna have it in every episode, Anthony will come
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: back on and plug something. Just your friendly neighborhood bio
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: chemists trying to love it. Send good vibes. All right, sir,
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: thanks for coming on. Thank you, take you bye. All right,
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Well that was nice. Donald. Let's talk a little bit
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: more about the show, because there's almost some funny stuff
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: we haven't talked about. There are quite a few things
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: that we haven't talked about. Marty returns the janitor sidekick.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: They probably played one of the best pranks on you. Yes,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: very good. Um the janitor. The janitor breaks the broom
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: in half, and I'm like, oh, you're trying to be intimidating.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Why he goes, no, I needed to break the broom
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: in half, and like, what possible reason could you have
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: for breaking the broom in half? And in walks Marty's
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: up broup. Thanks thanks bra Yea. By the way, it
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: was the perfect size for him. It was a perfect size. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: And then he's but to make the joke work, he
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: has to sweep in the You have to see him
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: sweep with it. Yeah, but he's sweeping the carpet, which
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: is the plastic meal thing. Why am I sweeping the carpet.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Why am I mopping the carpet? Um? All right, so
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: that was funny and um I laughed at um when
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: he when Todd pulls his heart out in a fantasy
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: to give to the patient just as he's dying, he says,
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: I'm gay. Makes sense, makes sense? Yeah, Well we know
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: that he's fluid, as the kids say, well we know that. Well,
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: we know that he likes he wants to know about
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Turk's package all the time. Yes, but I think it's
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: safe to say we've we've talked about on the show
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: that the Todd is the Tod That's what it is.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: How cute my dog is, right or anything and everything?
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: Are you looking how cute my dog is? Right now?
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: So cute dog is not cute? That dog is so
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: ugly the dog you said, the dog look up like,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: what the fuck you say about me? Say about Oh
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: my god, beautiful? He is a very you have a
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: very beautiful dog. Um Um, coolio, Sarah says, Coolio, and
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: Kelsa goes Coulio. Indeed, Coulio, Indeed, I want to talk
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: about Cox and Jordan in this episode. Go ahead, because
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: they have a very interesting storyline there in the beginning
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: of the show, they're all happy, go lucky and they're
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: loving the fact that they're just there's no real there's commitment,
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: but there's no there's nothing hanging over with them. And
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: then they find out that they're still married. She finds
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: their old wedding rings and she presents them to him
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: and he said, are you kidding me? I love this,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: I'm going to wear this for the rest of my life.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: And it sends them down a spiral of I don't
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: know if I can do this for the rest of
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: my life. Yeah, well it really articulates. Well, I think
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: that when you put a wedding ring on someone, the
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: differences you're saying for the rest of our lives. And
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: they were perfectly fine and getting along without the pressure
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: of for the rest of your life. Right the second
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: they had that pressure back, they were like fuck, they
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: were all all out of whack. So they hold a divorce.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: They have a ceremonial divorce and invite people to come
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: watch them get divorced. And that's why Ted's getting drunk
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: at the end of the show, right, Yeah, exactly, because
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: it's the after party. Or are you about to say
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: you like what I like being married? I enjoy it.
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: I enjoy I like it. It's a lot of fun.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: You found a good partner, you know, and it's not
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: always that way, but I truly joy Uh. My wife,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: I think you got I think you got singleness out
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: of your system. You know, I was a serial data
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: for a really long time, and I don't know that
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: I was ever really single single. I am for sure
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: married now, and I think I've got the dating out
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: of my system. I love I love what me and
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: my wife have and how we and I think I
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: think if you have that, and you know, for us,
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: we like the feeling of being married. We like the
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: statement that it makes for us to us to each other.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: But whatever, but whatever it is that you believe, whatever
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: makes love work for you, you stick to it, right,
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: And that's what Jordan and Cox do at the end
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: of the show. I think they show a good example
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: of a couple. It's like, we don't do We just
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: don't like the word married. It sucks us up. We
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: just we'd rather just not be married. It ain't for everyone,
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: It really isn't forever. Let's talk about those raw outfits
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: from the movie from any raw Yeah, No, I don't remember.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: Are those the exact replicas, because I remember that was
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: the style ish, But I think I think it's a replica.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: I really love the fact that we are having trouble
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: walking around. That's so funny we can't walk. And then
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: I really love your take on the word raw at
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: the end of the joke, no wonder Eddie Murphy called
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: it raw. I go, I go, he said, I'm chafing.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Now I know why Eddie called it raw. But you
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: added a little bit more to the raw at the end.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: You were like rowe called it raw, and then I
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: and then I go to find I go, Carla ty powder.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: But the way we walk in those outfits is so funny.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: They should have brought those back. Oh, man, didn't we?
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: We didn't do it that again, didn't we? No? I
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: don't think we. How about um when Elliott's go, oh,
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: look at poor Elliott riding a tandem bike alone. I
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: be the saddest, the loneliest site you can see, is
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: someone riding a tandem bike alone. You don't that that's
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: a judging a book, bites cup. You don't know that
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: person's circumstance. Why why are they riding and tandem bike alone?
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: And alone? Well? In Elliot's. In Elliot's case, it was
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: the car broke down and that was the only bike
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: that she had available to her. Yeah, it'd be funny.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: It would be even more sad if you could ride
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: the tandem bike alone from the back book that would
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: make it deem even more loadsome I don't even I
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: don't even want to take the lead. I just want
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: to be miserable in the back. By the way, I
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: would love a tandem bike you could ride alone from behind.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: That would be so funny to watch. You just need
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: to adjust the steering to the back to the middle
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: to however it would be. Um. Yeah, so then I
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: get tackled. I didn't know why that happened. Although it
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: was funny, I just had no idea why it happened. Um,
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: and that's it. That's the show. Yeah. Well I was
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: gonna say that the real one ends with beck song
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: lost cause, but I had something else on my on
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: my one on iTunes for for some copyright reasons, thanks
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: a lot, Randall. Um, that's our show, everybody, Um, we
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: did it. No, that's our show. For the hater that's
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: our show, haters, yeah but one. But we still digress.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: But for those of you who who write mean comments
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: to Donald and I saying that we digress too much.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: That's as minimum as it's gonna get. That's as minimal
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: as it's gonna get. And we did an hour thirty
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: and that's it. That's the one time we're gonna do that.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: In nine seasons, we do this, Okay, right you? Well? Yes,
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: I really liked that. I really I feel like we
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: should hang up and then catch up more because we
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: we We just didn't do enough of it and I
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: need more of it from you. Well, do you want
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: to We can always get off the We could always
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: get off the line. No, I don't want to. This
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: is for the haters. I'm gonna I'll call you privately, Okay.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: I want to talk to you. I want to talk
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: to you about some movies I saw. I want to
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: do some impressions for you. Have seen any movie. I
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: want to tell you the craziest story you've ever heard. Sorry,
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: guys that can't tell them the show, But I have
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: the craziest bit of gossip for you. Yeah, I can't
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: wait to hear it. You're not gonna believe it. I
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: ran I ran into I ran into Brad Pitt. No,
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: I did. He's listening to the podcast and he wants
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: I gonna say this story, I'll say, I'll tell you. Um,
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: all right, guys, we love you. Um. Hey, for Valentine's Day,
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: this is a very cheap slash funny present for your lover. Uh.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: It's a Turk and JD split heart key chains. Um.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: They're available at a Cotton Bureau dot com. And then
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: just search for fake doctor's real friends. And of course
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: if you work in a job like a hospital where
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: you need a badge pull, we made them for you.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: We uh, we love you. Check Out that show I
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: told you about on Hulu. It's really good in and
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: of itself. Donald, I'll call you in a moment. We'll
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: catch up. I'll tell you the Brad Pitt story. Dude,
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: I got something to tell you too. It's gonna be great. Okay.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: By the way, I'm I'm I'm pregnant, but I don't
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: want to tell everyone on the show, so I'm gonna
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: tell you in private. You know, you know it's probably
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: I don't mean I don't I don't mean my partner's pregnant.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: I mean I am pregnant. Well, you know it's probably
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: gonna be an ass baby. Then yes, I want to
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: tell you about I've already talked to the doctor about
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: how I'm going to deliver through my rector. Six seven,
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: eight stories about show me about a bunch of doctor nurses,
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: said he's the stories so yetto around here, yetto around here.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: M
