- 0:49a new thing coming to New

- 0:52in a little bit don't
- 0:54forget to Like and
- 0:54subscribe to the channel
- 0:56I'm glad you can all be
- 0:57here sorry if there was
- 0:59some confusion when I first
- 1:00set this up I set it up for
- 1:01yesterday's date
- 1:03because I'm not usually that
- 1:05that far ahead uh but I
- 1:08hopefully fixed that last
- 1:09minute so you all got
- 1:10notifiers uh within the
- 1:12last few minutes that we
- 1:13were live so sam welcome to
- 1:15the show what's up bud how
- 1:17you been I'm good I'm good
- 1:19this is your second
- 1:19appearance on the show
- 1:22that's right we were on
- 1:22last year to talk about the
- 1:23event thank you for that
- 1:25Yeah, I discovered your event.
- 1:29One, it's getting bigger and bigger,
- 1:31so it's getting a bigger
- 1:32presence on social media.
- 1:35And you have...
- 1:38some special masters
- 1:39athletes that are big parts
- 1:40of your volunteer squad.
- 1:42And as I was interviewing
- 1:43them for the games last year,
- 1:45they started talking about it.
- 1:47It started creating like a buzz for me.
- 1:49And then we had you on.
- 1:51And what's cool is you're
- 1:54getting big last year.
- 1:55And that pales in comparison
- 1:58to what's going on this year.
- 2:00yeah I mean it's been kind
- 2:02of a roller coaster you
- 2:03know last year my my wife
- 2:04and I kelly decided to take
- 2:06the competition out of like the local
- 2:09realm and take it out of the
- 2:11gym and put it in an arena
- 2:12and we hooked up with the
- 2:14subject community college
- 2:15and they have a huge indoor
- 2:16arena the size of a
- 2:17football field and uh you
- 2:19know we we basically just
- 2:20pushed our chips all in and
- 2:22it was a an awesome
- 2:24experience we learned a lot
- 2:26uh about how to run an
- 2:27event what the community
- 2:28wants um and we kind of I
- 2:31think we put ourselves on
- 2:32the map you know I think it
- 2:33was a prove it year for us
- 2:35And we had lots of athletes involved.
- 2:37We had around two hundred
- 2:39and seventy five athletes
- 2:40last year at our event in
- 2:42teams and pairs.
- 2:43And this year we said, all right,
- 2:45now we have the community's attention.
- 2:47We added individuals to it.
- 2:49And we're already well over
- 2:50four hundred athletes for
- 2:52the weekend for Saturday
- 2:53and Sunday between individuals,
- 2:55pairs and teams of four.
- 2:57So it was it was a good
- 2:58reward after last year's
- 3:00like countless hours that
- 3:01we put into that to realize
- 3:03that the community has accepted us as a,
- 3:04you know,
- 3:05more than just a local
- 3:06competition at this point.
- 3:08Well,
- 3:08what's funny is that as I was
- 3:09researching you,
- 3:10I saw the individuals does
- 3:11like in my head,
- 3:12I had you like pegged as a
- 3:14team competition.
- 3:16But you've explained it,
- 3:17that it's grown so much
- 3:19that you've been able to
- 3:20add that individual
- 3:21division as one of the options.
- 3:24Let's get the nitty gritty
- 3:25stuff out of the way.
- 3:26You are at the Suffolk
- 3:28Federal Credit Union Arena.
- 3:30And where is that located?
- 3:31So that's at Suffolk Community College.
- 3:33That's on our campus in
- 3:35Brentwood on Long Island.
- 3:38Um,
- 3:38and then your competition is actually
- 3:41October eighteenth and nineteenth.
- 3:44Yeah.
- 3:44So it's that whole weekend.
- 3:46The format is, um,
- 3:47individuals will compete on Saturday.
- 3:49Uh,
- 3:50we have a hundred and thirty
- 3:51individuals that sold out right now, uh,
- 3:53except for four RX female spots.
- 3:55Um,
- 3:56and pairs will compete on Sunday and
- 3:59the teams of four will
- 4:00compete Saturday and Sunday.
- 4:02Okay, cool.
- 4:03Because the teams of four
- 4:04was what you kind of started with.
- 4:06That was your base product.
- 4:08And now you've added these
- 4:09other things in as options
- 4:12as you've grown.
- 4:14How are you doing on the fourth?
- 4:17Since that was your base product,
- 4:18are the four person teams
- 4:20pretty much full or do you have spots?
- 4:22Yeah, so I mean, that's a great question.
- 4:24So I still have a big love
- 4:27for the team of four.
- 4:28I have competed, you know,
- 4:31locally and in regards to that,
- 4:33I always enjoyed that the most.
- 4:35I enjoyed that team aspect of it.
- 4:38And that is the main
- 4:40division that we want to
- 4:41continue to push.
- 4:41We do feel that there is a
- 4:43void in the community for that,
- 4:45especially with some
- 4:47recent changes in the
- 4:49competitive culture and
- 4:50community and availability
- 4:51for what's for these teams
- 4:52so we have that's our only
- 4:54division that we have this
- 4:55elite and we're going to
- 4:56continue to push that uh
- 4:58it's not sold out uh yet
- 4:59but it is continuing to
- 5:01flourish but what we did
- 5:02learn and we always ask for
- 5:04feedback is that we needed
- 5:06to create as many
- 5:07opportunities for people to
- 5:08compete and some people
- 5:10don't like competing on
- 5:11team some people didn't
- 5:12want to do two days some
- 5:13people didn't want to swim
- 5:15and so by adding the individuals in
- 5:18created that opportunity.
- 5:20I'm going to continue making
- 5:23this team of four our baby.
- 5:26That's why they are featured
- 5:27on Saturday and Sunday.
- 5:30They get to use a lot of
- 5:31different implements.
- 5:33And we have that elite division,
- 5:34which we're going to try to
- 5:35feature and grow.
- 5:37I have a question from the audience.
- 5:39Dave Castro announced he was
- 5:40in New York City last week.
- 5:42Was he with you?
- 5:45No, it's funny.
- 5:47I do like Dave Castro a lot.
- 5:50I have a lot of respect for him.
- 5:51I've read his book a couple of times,
- 5:53and I actually DMed him.
- 5:54I was like, come to Long Island,
- 5:56and I would love to meet you.
- 5:56I'll buy you lunch.
- 5:58And he said he was only in town for a week,
- 6:00and that was not to meet me.
- 6:03I'm still a small time.
- 6:05Yeah, if the rumors are true,
- 6:07he was there for a much
- 6:08bigger thing that's going on.
- 6:11Yeah,
- 6:11I know he went to Hell's Kitchen
- 6:12CrossFit.
- 6:13He worked out with Nico,
- 6:15who's competed with us several years ago,
- 6:17which is really cool to see him progress.
- 6:20If it's anything like Dave,
- 6:22he'll probably just keep it
- 6:23close to the chest and you
- 6:25won't find out until he
- 6:26wants you to find out.
- 6:28Yeah.
- 6:28There's some clues on the
- 6:29internet today if you want
- 6:30to go find them.
- 6:32But yeah, sure.
- 6:35I thought it was a funny comment,
- 6:36so I wanted to bring it up.
- 6:37What do you do in your
- 6:39day-to-day life that gives
- 6:40you the time to do a
- 6:43competition like this?
- 6:44Or is it just the sacrifice
- 6:46you make because you love it so much?
- 6:49um well I am a pa I'm a
- 6:51physician assistant and I
- 6:52do uh you know I work in a
- 6:53practice uh on long island
- 6:54where we do spine surgery
- 6:56um it doesn't really
- 6:57correlate with what I do um
- 7:01with the events uh this is
- 7:02something that we kind of
- 7:03just fell into um I work
- 7:05the time in like right now
- 7:06on my lunch break or you
- 7:08know I wake up early and
- 7:09get work done or get work
- 7:10done late at night it's
- 7:12just something we've
- 7:13developed me my wife as a
- 7:14passion for the community
- 7:15we have a lot of people
- 7:17who help us and have cared
- 7:21about this and see what
- 7:22we're trying to do here.
- 7:23So we've made friends and
- 7:26we've had people along the
- 7:27way that kind of have helped, you know,
- 7:29gather the stuff that we
- 7:31need to do and get to the next level.
- 7:34Are you affiliated with any
- 7:36gym in particular or an
- 7:37affiliate to help you like
- 7:39with volunteers with no affiliation?
- 7:43No,
- 7:43so what Kelly and I do is pretty unique
- 7:46in the event organizing space.
- 7:48I don't know many other
- 7:50event organizers that don't
- 7:52have an affiliate.
- 7:54You know,
- 7:54that put us behind the eight ball
- 7:56in regards to,
- 7:56we had to pay rent to use the gym spaces.
- 8:00We've had to rent equipment
- 8:02and we haven't had our own
- 8:04community to kind of feed
- 8:05off of in regards to people competing,
- 8:06people volunteering.
- 8:08We've worked really hard to build our,
- 8:11I don't want to say our own community,
- 8:12but to be a part of the community.
- 8:15And now we have consistent volunteers.
- 8:17We have people that reach out.
- 8:19And that was a big hurdle at first,
- 8:20financially and just
- 8:22getting our name out there
- 8:23because Long Island's a
- 8:24very dense area and it's a
- 8:26very competitive area.
- 8:27So gyms are hesitant to
- 8:29promote other gyms and stuff like that.
- 8:31So I had to make it clear to
- 8:32people that we're not gym owners.
- 8:34We're just members of the
- 8:35community that want to put
- 8:36on an event that represents
- 8:38the community.
- 8:40How long have you been in existence?
- 8:43Uh, two thousand twenty-one.
- 8:44So we, we were originally going to do it,
- 8:46uh,
- 8:46in two thousand twenty and we all know
- 8:48how that year went.
- 8:49Um, so we, we ran our first one at RX fit,
- 8:52which is, uh, Haley colors.
- 8:54You've had her on the show.
- 8:55She's a master's athlete.
- 8:56Um, we ran it at her gym in Rocky point.
- 8:59We ran a few there and then
- 9:01we ran a few at move fast, lift heavy,
- 9:02which is a Christian
- 9:03Harris's gym on long Island
- 9:05and Ron Kankaba.
- 9:07And, uh, yeah.
- 9:10Who does the programming for you guys?
- 9:13So it's a combined effort.
- 9:16Christian helps with the team.
- 9:20Myself and Haley worked
- 9:21together for the individual
- 9:23and the pairs.
- 9:24Ultimately,
- 9:26I am the one responsible for
- 9:27the seal of approval
- 9:29because programming is more
- 9:31than just thinking up of cool workouts.
- 9:33So you need to work with the
- 9:34equipment you have in a
- 9:35certain time domain,
- 9:36matching certain stimuluses.
- 9:39And make sure that it fits
- 9:41your demographic that
- 9:42you're trying to reach as well.
- 9:43So it's more than just
- 9:44making a cool workout.
- 9:45You know what I mean?
- 9:47Yeah.
- 9:47What I find really cool for
- 9:50you guys is I pulled up
- 9:51your Instagram and you have
- 9:56all these posts up here.
- 9:58You don't have your
- 9:59competition till October.
- 10:01We're already seeing
- 10:03versions of workouts that
- 10:04have been posted.
- 10:06they've been out for a while
- 10:07I mean uh the the you know
- 10:10I've seen two different
- 10:11sides of it one is um the
- 10:14let's keep it you know
- 10:17exclusive and exciting and
- 10:18suspenseful and release the
- 10:19workouts and and I get that
- 10:22uh and if you sell out your
- 10:23competition in the first
- 10:24day of of opening
- 10:25registration you can do
- 10:26whatever you want um but my
- 10:29style our style is more of
- 10:31Let's give everyone the most
- 10:32information as possible as
- 10:33early as possible.
- 10:34Like, you know,
- 10:35these workouts have been
- 10:36out for as long as time as possible.
- 10:38And, you know,
- 10:38people want to make plans
- 10:39and there's other things.
- 10:40So, you know,
- 10:41we kind of just do the
- 10:43opposite of what CrossFit does,
- 10:45which is give everyone the
- 10:46most information as
- 10:47possible as early as
- 10:48possible and be as
- 10:48transparent as possible.
- 10:49And that's not to take a shot.
- 10:51It's just the fact.
- 10:54So this is your Instagram handle.
- 10:56If people want to follow you,
- 10:57they should go to the
- 10:58Instagram follow fight for the fittest.
- 11:01All the information is there.
- 11:03Um,
- 11:04there's some really great people
- 11:05involved with this that
- 11:06I've met over my years
- 11:08bouncing around the CrossFit community.
- 11:10Uh,
- 11:11you just announced the media director
- 11:12is be relentless.
- 11:14That is one of the best in the business.
- 11:17Um,
- 11:18You mentioned Haley.
- 11:20Haley is an awesome person to work with.
- 11:23She was great at the Masters
- 11:24Games last year.
- 11:26And I know that they are
- 11:30part of that team that
- 11:31you've put together.
- 11:32How hard is it with this
- 11:33growth to keep up with the
- 11:35volunteer side of things?
- 11:39It's pretty extremely hard.
- 11:41It helps that we have
- 11:43another person that works with us,
- 11:44Deb Graff,
- 11:45and she helps us with our companies,
- 11:47our sponsors, our vendors.
- 11:49And again,
- 11:51she was able to secure us Reebok
- 11:52as the shoe sponsor of our staff.
- 11:55So everyone's always about
- 11:56the athletes getting stuff.
- 11:57We're really,
- 11:58really about our staff getting stuff,
- 12:00besides the shirts and the usuals.
- 12:03Anyone who's working for our
- 12:04event is going to get the
- 12:05pair of Reeboks for the day.
- 12:08That helps a lot.
- 12:09Those things...
- 12:11showing our appreciation, feeding them,
- 12:13getting them dessert on Saturday night,
- 12:16another thing that we got going on,
- 12:17some cookies that they're going to get.
- 12:20I think that's important.
- 12:21We've tried to pay staff,
- 12:22and I don't really think
- 12:23that's what the motivating
- 12:24factor was for people.
- 12:25I think they want to be part of something.
- 12:27They want to feel appreciated.
- 12:30And that's really our main focus,
- 12:31is the staff to leave with
- 12:33as much swag as the athletes get.
- 12:36Yeah,
- 12:36isn't that funny that it's all about
- 12:38the swag bag?
- 12:39That's it.
- 12:40And it's funny,
- 12:42we have these two professional judges,
- 12:43Yamaris and Manny,
- 12:46and they judge everywhere
- 12:49and they love to get the shoes.
- 12:51But I'm like, you judge like,
- 12:52fifteen competitions a year,
- 12:53you must have a hundred shoes.
- 12:55She's like, yeah, I have a hundred shoes.
- 12:58All right, I'll get you another pair.
- 13:00So I started as a volunteer
- 13:02and then a judge,
- 13:03and I know Yamaris and Manny,
- 13:06they're quality people,
- 13:08quality individuals,
- 13:10and some of the best judges on the planet,
- 13:13honestly, on the planet,
- 13:14some of the best judges.
- 13:15And they care.
- 13:17And they care.
- 13:19And they're awesome leaders
- 13:20on top of that.
- 13:22If I see them as a head judge,
- 13:24I would be more willing to sign up to,
- 13:26to volunteer with that
- 13:27group knowing they are the
- 13:29ones running the show.
- 13:30Well, what's true size are you?
- 13:35I'm out of the,
- 13:36I'm out of the judging business.
- 13:37I can't be in media.
- 13:39I finally try.
- 13:40I got to try.
- 13:42Uh, Andrew Sten echoes, uh,
- 13:46manny and your mares are
- 13:47awesome sounds like a fun
- 13:48comp born in law in long
- 13:50island maybe try to come
- 13:51out for it andrew is one of
- 13:53the best judges in the business
- 13:55Yeah, we get the bacon, egg,
- 13:56and cheeses out there.
- 13:57So you come on Long Island,
- 13:58we get you breakfast and everything,
- 14:00and it's a full weekend.
- 14:02And then we get spots for everyone,
- 14:04whether it's we have people
- 14:06that are going to come out
- 14:06that aren't judging,
- 14:08that will help me move
- 14:08stuff around throughout the
- 14:09day so I don't kill myself.
- 14:11We have people on the door,
- 14:12people doing tickets.
- 14:14There's a spot for anyone
- 14:15that wants to be involved.
- 14:18Yeah,
- 14:18my memories of Long Island are from
- 14:20my college days,
- 14:21and so it's not anything to
- 14:23do with fitness.
- 14:27I went to school in Western
- 14:28Pennsylvania and my
- 14:29roommate was from Long
- 14:30Island and we would drive
- 14:32out there a couple of times a semester.
- 14:36We would have so much fun, so much fun.
- 14:41Andrew says and get some real pizza.
- 14:43That's right.
- 14:47That's right.
- 14:50Yeah.
- 14:50So are you looking for more
- 14:51volunteers or how can
- 14:52people get in touch with you?
- 14:54Go through the Instagram.
- 14:55Yeah, so I mean, listen,
- 14:57I run the Instagram.
- 14:58It's something that's
- 14:59evolved over years from
- 15:00being somewhat interesting.
- 15:03If you really do a deep dive
- 15:04and scroll back five years.
- 15:05But I run the Instagram.
- 15:07If you DM, I'll answer you directly.
- 15:09Or Kelly, my wife, DMs.
- 15:11It's the same link as you
- 15:12would go to sign up to conquest events,
- 15:14which you can go through our website,
- 15:17which is
- 15:17fftfcompetitions.com or the links
- 15:20in our bio.
- 15:20There's plenty of ways to
- 15:21find it or just DM me and
- 15:22I'll send you the link.
- 15:24Definitely still looking for people.
- 15:26If we can get two
- 15:28competition floors fully
- 15:29staffed and run them all day long,
- 15:32I have more spots I'm going to open up.
- 15:33And I know people want more
- 15:35spots in the pairs
- 15:36divisions and in the individual divisions,
- 15:37but I need to make sure
- 15:39that the event can be run
- 15:39properly to do that.
- 15:42Yeah.
- 15:42Yeah.
- 15:43That's the key.
- 15:43Keeping your volunteers happy,
- 15:44which I love hearing that
- 15:46is a priority of yours.
- 15:48So many times I've been to
- 15:49events where they kind of
- 15:50forget about breaks.
- 15:51They forget about, you know,
- 15:52and you can't wear down your people.
- 15:56Every volunteer that I've
- 15:57talked to that has done
- 15:58your event has raved about
- 16:00how awesome it is.
- 16:01Thank you.
- 16:03so if you are looking to
- 16:04volunteer and get involved
- 16:05in any of this give sam a
- 16:08give sam a dm because it is
- 16:10it's I've heard I've heard
- 16:11it is tip top uh corey
- 16:15leonard love event
- 16:16organizers that give a damn
- 16:17about the volunteers yeah
- 16:21it's a shame we have some
- 16:23that don't and I we won't
- 16:24get into that but just glad
- 16:26that you guys are are the
- 16:27exact opposite of that
- 16:29Yeah, I mean, it's a big deal.
- 16:30And then we have our medical staff,
- 16:31which is going to be done
- 16:32through Northwell Health,
- 16:33which is one of our sponsors.
- 16:35So they're going to be
- 16:35bringing down orthopedics
- 16:37and ATCs and trainers.
- 16:40It's important.
- 16:41It's just an important part of the event.
- 16:44And when we pitch the event
- 16:46to our sponsors,
- 16:47we don't only talk about
- 16:48the athletes and the spectators.
- 16:49We talk about the...
- 16:51the volunteers.
- 16:51Cause it's a big chunk of people, you know,
- 16:53you know,
- 16:54probably for this event is a lot
- 16:55of people.
- 16:56And, um, you know, we,
- 16:57we ask for product for
- 16:59these people as well,
- 17:00cause they deserve it.
- 17:00Yeah.
- 17:03Any accommodations, uh,
- 17:05deals with what you guys got going on.
- 17:07If you're coming from out of town, please.
- 17:09Yeah.
- 17:09So Kelly is, uh,
- 17:11she does a lot of the
- 17:12behind the scenes stuff.
- 17:12Like I do,
- 17:13I do like the big ideas and then
- 17:14she executes them.
- 17:16Um, which is typical.
- 17:17Uh,
- 17:19my marriage um so we have a
- 17:22hotel hotel deal uh that's
- 17:24on our website uh I'll post
- 17:25about that soon I'm just a
- 17:27little bit behind and
- 17:27trying to get as much
- 17:28information as possible as
- 17:29you see I put out a lot so
- 17:31yeah we do have some hotel
- 17:32accommodations for a
- 17:34blocked rate that's secured
- 17:35for us nice nice
- 17:38And it's a big city.
- 17:41It's easy to get a flight to New York.
- 17:44So if you're from out of
- 17:45town like Andrew or Jay Birch,
- 17:49you can fly right to New York.
- 17:51Yeah.
- 17:51And now there's also Islet
- 17:53MacArthur Airport,
- 17:54which is like super convenient.
- 17:56It's a local airport.
- 17:57You can fly into that one.
- 17:58That's a breeze.
- 18:01Joe P.,
- 18:02it's the best event run by the best
- 18:03people.
- 18:04The team can't wait for
- 18:05October NYPD CrossFit.
- 18:08huge uh huge nypd supporters
- 18:11huge fdmy supporters uh you
- 18:13know and and all of our
- 18:14military with I feel like
- 18:16that's very important to
- 18:16have them involved in our
- 18:17events thank you joe and I
- 18:19appreciate you yeah so any
- 18:21anything I'm missing on uh
- 18:24the the event itself
- 18:26No, man, I think we covered it.
- 18:28I mean,
- 18:29it's amazing to see how much this
- 18:31has grown from year one to
- 18:32two and kind of gives me a
- 18:33little bit of a picture of
- 18:34what we can do in the future.
- 18:36I hope we continue to just
- 18:39be of service to the
- 18:40community and we do something special.
- 18:42I think that we're going to
- 18:44continue to grow.
- 18:45I'm excited about it.
- 18:47Do you ever fear that...
- 18:50I kind of said this on my
- 18:51show a couple of days ago with,
- 18:54so we have like Metcon rush.
- 18:55It just happened.
- 18:58Um,
- 18:58you had all these semifinal events that
- 19:02teamed up with CrossFit to
- 19:03kind of qualify people.
- 19:05And then I,
- 19:06I saw that Met or Metcon rush
- 19:08didn't have the upper elite
- 19:10semifinal athletes that
- 19:11they've had in the past.
- 19:13Do you think that, uh,
- 19:15until crossfit comes up with
- 19:17a better structure you're
- 19:18gonna have a hard time
- 19:19finding those type athletes
- 19:21for what I call the mid
- 19:22majors like you and metcon
- 19:24rush and crash so crash
- 19:28will always get top
- 19:30athletes um when you have
- 19:32that quality programming I
- 19:34mean crash is in my opinion
- 19:36jr is the best programmer
- 19:38in the business and I think
- 19:40if athletes really want to
- 19:42be tested they're going to
- 19:43always do his events um and
- 19:45he's in an area that's very
- 19:47uh central to to gather a
- 19:49lot of people um you know
- 19:50from from tennessee to
- 19:51north carolina south
- 19:52carolina now in regards to
- 19:56getting other individual
- 19:57lead athletes at your
- 19:58competition it's going to
- 19:59be very difficult right now
- 20:00because there are so many
- 20:02things going on right now
- 20:03between wfp qualifiers
- 20:06Semi-final events, different,
- 20:08different event.
- 20:09It's just, it's a,
- 20:12it's a little bit of a mess.
- 20:14And I,
- 20:15that's why we decided to not touch
- 20:16that this year.
- 20:17We, we did not do any individual elite.
- 20:21We felt that on the opposite end of it,
- 20:23the teams were being neglected.
- 20:25Not being able to compete in
- 20:26the semi-final anymore is a
- 20:27big deal for teams because
- 20:29for many people that were
- 20:29going to a semi-final,
- 20:30that was the pinnacle of their year.
- 20:33Going down, I mean,
- 20:34and I understand that some
- 20:36of the competitions still
- 20:37had team divisions, but it was different.
- 20:41And so we feel like there's
- 20:42still a void out there for teams of four.
- 20:45I feel it's still a
- 20:46neglected community because
- 20:50they're hard events to run.
- 20:51I mean, the equipment demands,
- 20:52the time demands, all this stuff.
- 20:54It's very difficult to do that.
- 20:56So I wouldn't touch,
- 20:58I wouldn't touch the elite individuals,
- 21:00you know, with a forty foot pole.
- 21:02I think that's a, it's a tough thing.
- 21:04They're a tough group of people.
- 21:07And, uh,
- 21:08CrossFit does have to kind of
- 21:09figure out something,
- 21:10but I'm not terribly optimistic.
- 21:14Okay.
- 21:14Fair enough.
- 21:16So on the other realm of
- 21:17things that you have going
- 21:18on in your life is you are
- 21:20now part of a new,
- 21:21an organization who is
- 21:22trying to bring United Grid
- 21:24League to New York.
- 21:27And that is New York wolves.
- 21:30And you guys have an Instagram as well.
- 21:32I'll pull that up real quick.
- 21:33Uh, this is your Instagram for that.
- 21:40So what,
- 21:41what made you want to get involved
- 21:42with grid leg?
- 21:43So this is kind of wild.
- 21:45So, I mean,
- 21:46I always knew about grid league.
- 21:48I knew about the Florida grid league,
- 21:49which was what it was before.
- 21:50And then I knew about, uh,
- 21:52the professional grid league and, and,
- 21:53uh,
- 21:55You know,
- 21:55it kind of goes back to some
- 21:56people I know that used to
- 21:57do it as an OG.
- 21:59I had no intentions of
- 22:01getting involved with this at all.
- 22:03Excuse me.
- 22:05But the owner of the team, Jen Powers,
- 22:07who works with us for Fight
- 22:08for the Fitness,
- 22:08she has a company called
- 22:11Wolf Back on Track that is
- 22:13a media company and a
- 22:17growing company in the space.
- 22:21And she purchased a team.
- 22:23And she calls me up and she's like, hey,
- 22:25Sam, you know, don't tell anyone yet,
- 22:28but I'm getting a team here.
- 22:30Can you build it for me?
- 22:32And I was like...
- 22:33well, that kind of sounds fun.
- 22:35And she's like,
- 22:35do you think you know any
- 22:36athletes that would be good at this?
- 22:37I'm like, hell yeah,
- 22:38I know athletes that would
- 22:39be good at this.
- 22:40And New York and the
- 22:41Northeast is full of quality athletes.
- 22:43So, you know,
- 22:44we kind of sat on it for a
- 22:45little bit and I kind of just said,
- 22:49you know,
- 22:49I'd be interested or excited to
- 22:51be kind of like the GM of the team.
- 22:54I don't want to coach.
- 22:56I don't want to play.
- 22:56I'm too old for that shit.
- 22:58Excuse me.
- 23:00But
- 23:02I did find that interesting.
- 23:04I did find that interesting
- 23:05to build a team.
- 23:06So we partnered up together.
- 23:08She's the boss.
- 23:09She owns the team.
- 23:11Let's not be confused of
- 23:13whose team this is.
- 23:13This is her team.
- 23:14But I'm going to build a roster.
- 23:16I'm going to build a team.
- 23:18And it's going to be really
- 23:19interesting because it's
- 23:21really popular down there in Florida.
- 23:23How much of a grid do you know about?
- 23:26So actually,
- 23:26I have a couple of friends
- 23:27that are competing this year.
- 23:28So I've really dug in this
- 23:30year for the first time
- 23:32since the OG version that
- 23:34came out in the mid-teens.
- 23:38And so I've been watching a lot.
- 23:40It's very entertaining.
- 23:42Have you watched a full match?
- 23:43I have.
- 23:44Yeah, very entertaining, right?
- 23:47I mean, I have a couple quibbles,
- 23:48but it's more about every
- 23:52sport complains about
- 23:53delays in the game because
- 23:55of a challenge flag.
- 23:56That really kind of gets on me.
- 23:59But other than that,
- 24:00I think the production is
- 24:01really well done.
- 24:03I think the athletes are great.
- 24:06And the announcing team that
- 24:08they have for that is phenomenal.
- 24:10Yeah.
- 24:10I mean, you hit it right on the nail.
- 24:14The young lady, Cassie,
- 24:17that does it with Taylor,
- 24:18they explain it to you.
- 24:20The production in each race
- 24:21is different because it's
- 24:22kind of a complicated sport.
- 24:24They show you what's the breakdown,
- 24:26what you need to do.
- 24:27So they make you understand
- 24:28what's going on.
- 24:29And it's so fast and so exciting.
- 24:32It's like watching the last
- 24:33ninety seconds of a basketball game,
- 24:35of an NBA game.
- 24:36Like, how many,
- 24:38how many twenty minute
- 24:39AMRAPs have you seen where you're like,
- 24:40oh, my God, geez,
- 24:41I got to just get to the
- 24:42last two minutes to see
- 24:44who's going to win this race.
- 24:45And that's what you get race
- 24:47after race after race of exciting,
- 24:48you know,
- 24:49people running to a finish line.
- 24:53It's it's I kind of got hooked on it.
- 24:55I've watched, you know,
- 24:56like probably twenty,
- 24:57twenty five matches in the
- 24:58past couple of weeks.
- 24:59And it can get pretty exciting.
- 25:01Some of the ones this
- 25:02weekend were super exciting, too.
- 25:04So, you know,
- 25:04back to answer your question.
- 25:07You know, it's super popular down there.
- 25:09The athletes are loving it.
- 25:11It's growing.
- 25:11There's an opportunity for growth.
- 25:17Excuse me.
- 25:19And it's basically unknown
- 25:21and untouched up here in the Northeast.
- 25:23There are athletes that go down there,
- 25:25compete from upstate New York,
- 25:27Massachusetts, Philadelphia,
- 25:29one or two from Long Island.
- 25:31But this pool of athletes
- 25:33that are up here is basically untapped.
- 25:36So it's a pretty exciting opportunity that,
- 25:38yes,
- 25:38we're going to have to put together a
- 25:39team of rookies,
- 25:39but it's going to be a team of studs.
- 25:43Yeah.
- 25:46My one friend is one of the
- 25:47rookies on Houston.
- 25:50Her name's Lauren Olson.
- 25:51She's killing it.
- 25:52It's given her the opportunity to like,
- 25:56she's competed in CrossFit for years.
- 25:59And it's always been that
- 26:00borderline semifinal team athlete.
- 26:04And this has given her the opportunity.
- 26:06She's a rock star in this league now.
- 26:08I think she's I think she's
- 26:10one of the best players on
- 26:11that team so she's a tall
- 26:12girl redhead right kind of
- 26:13redhead brown hair she's
- 26:15always dancing and stuff
- 26:16like that always dancing
- 26:17yeah so I think she's one
- 26:18of the best players on this
- 26:19team um I think she's going
- 26:21to be a star in this league
- 26:22I've watched her uh this
- 26:24year uh you know there's
- 26:26some other big names on
- 26:27that team uh but I I was
- 26:29definitely attracted to
- 26:30what she did and I think
- 26:31she's the perfect example
- 26:33Right.
- 26:33So she's a great athlete.
- 26:34She's the top, you know,
- 26:35she's going to be in that
- 26:36top one percent conversation.
- 26:38But, you know,
- 26:38is she going to be able to
- 26:39get past the semifinals?
- 26:40She can, you know,
- 26:41maybe just get there
- 26:41because those kind of athletes, you know,
- 26:44that's fine.
- 26:45But she can be a star in
- 26:47grid and and she has been the first year.
- 26:49So it looks like she's
- 26:51having a lot of fun.
- 26:52And she dances.
- 26:52She hams it up for the camera.
- 26:54She, you know,
- 26:55she does all the things that
- 26:56grid leg wants.
- 26:58And that's what CrossFit is missing.
- 27:00Like we don't have the
- 27:01personalities in CrossFit
- 27:03that run up to the camera
- 27:05and like mean mug the camera anymore.
- 27:06You know what I mean?
- 27:07It's kind of like WWE meets CrossFit.
- 27:11Yes, very much.
- 27:12And I'm not a big wrestling
- 27:13fan and I'm not, not one for, you know,
- 27:16if it was me,
- 27:17I'm not a very boisterous way.
- 27:18I probably just sit in the corner,
- 27:20but yeah,
- 27:21as someone who's watching it,
- 27:22it's pretty freaking entertaining.
- 27:25You know, when they grab the camera,
- 27:26they're yelling,
- 27:27they're doing flips there, you know,
- 27:28they're all jacked up.
- 27:29And then you have the
- 27:30interview crew right there in between.
- 27:32They're just constantly,
- 27:33constantly promoting the athletes.
- 27:35And I bet if you ask her, if you ask Olsen,
- 27:38but she's,
- 27:38she's having the time of her life there.
- 27:40She is.
- 27:40She looks like she's having
- 27:41the most fun she's had competing.
- 27:43And that's what,
- 27:45these athletes want they
- 27:46want an opportunity to
- 27:47compete they want to be a
- 27:49part of something you know
- 27:50it's not all about you know
- 27:51monies and sponsors and
- 27:53instagram followers they
- 27:54want to showcase their
- 27:55abilities yeah yeah I've
- 27:59actually I actually posed a
- 28:01question on our sunday
- 28:01night show is grid like
- 28:04becoming an entertainment
- 28:06alternative like when your
- 28:08crossfit season's on a break
- 28:10And they've done a really
- 28:11good job of putting the
- 28:13matches on on weekends that
- 28:15CrossFit's on a break.
- 28:17That's pretty smart strategically.
- 28:20if you're looking for
- 28:21fitness racing you got your
- 28:22options yeah and I think it
- 28:25doesn't require a ton of
- 28:27volume training the way
- 28:28that the the races are um
- 28:30you know you basically can
- 28:32train the way you are if
- 28:33you're training basic
- 28:33crossfit and work in a few
- 28:36uh extra workouts a week
- 28:37tests a week and I think
- 28:39you would be just fine if
- 28:40you are very very fit as these people are
- 28:43um if you want to just focus
- 28:45on great I'm sure you could
- 28:46do more if if you want to
- 28:47continue a lot of these
- 28:48people do still continue
- 28:49the crossfit season you can
- 28:52I mean if you're going if
- 28:53your goal is to make the
- 28:54games I mean you're locked
- 28:55in you should be locked in
- 28:56on that one task and you
- 28:57probably shouldn't do
- 28:58anything else and do that
- 29:00because that's the pinnacle uh for them
- 29:03But for the people that are
- 29:05looking for another
- 29:05opportunity on a consistent basis,
- 29:09you know, you know,
- 29:09you're guaranteed those
- 29:10four four matches during
- 29:12the year and then hopefully playoffs.
- 29:13So there's no worry about qualifying.
- 29:16You know, you're on the team,
- 29:17you're playing and you're
- 29:18having these these events.
- 29:21so about building your team
- 29:23and that you actually, you know,
- 29:25your area pretty well.
- 29:27And you, I'm guessing, you know,
- 29:28some of the stud athletes
- 29:30that you want to reach out to,
- 29:32but you're also having a
- 29:33combine if athletes want to
- 29:36give it a shot and show you
- 29:38what they can do.
- 29:40Um, how, how is that happening?
- 29:43Yeah.
- 29:43I mean, listen, I, you know,
- 29:44the second this started, I had a list,
- 29:46um,
- 29:48I'll be about twenty five deep, you know,
- 29:50of that twenty five,
- 29:51a bunch of them are interested.
- 29:53Everyone's got to do the combine.
- 29:54I need the data.
- 29:55You know, we hired a head coach,
- 29:57Lexi Wilford.
- 29:58She played with the Atlanta
- 30:00Wild for the past two years.
- 30:02Now she's going to be coaching our team.
- 30:03So, you know,
- 30:04we're very going to be very data driven.
- 30:07I'm going to go off of
- 30:09knowing these people and their character.
- 30:12You know, anyone can try it out.
- 30:14You know, listen, my specialty,
- 30:16I believe that what I'm
- 30:16going to bring to this team
- 30:17is I know how to find
- 30:18diamonds in the rough.
- 30:20The obvious ones are the obvious ones.
- 30:21I know who these...
- 30:23all-star players are and
- 30:23everyone else knows who
- 30:24they are too but finding
- 30:25the ones that I've seen
- 30:26come up along the past few
- 30:28years that you that people
- 30:29don't know about but I know
- 30:30how great they are um
- 30:32anyone that wants to do the
- 30:33combine uh they can find it
- 30:35through our instagram page
- 30:36they can find it they can
- 30:37dm us on on the new york
- 30:39wolves page it's free it's
- 30:42basically gonna run like an
- 30:43online competition there's
- 30:44thirteen workouts out each
- 30:46one takes anywhere from
- 30:48Thirty seconds to three
- 30:49minutes at the most.
- 30:50You can do them as much as you want.
- 30:51You have to submit a video.
- 30:52You have to tag us in the video.
- 30:54And we're going to find the
- 30:55best players for our team.
- 30:58And this may not be the best
- 30:59scores all across.
- 31:00There's no leaderboard.
- 31:01This is not like you win the combine,
- 31:03you're on the team.
- 31:04This is still a very
- 31:06strategic standpoint
- 31:06because you need to find
- 31:08different players that can
- 31:09do different things and
- 31:10players that can do a lot of things.
- 31:13Um, so we want players that are committed.
- 31:15We want players that are,
- 31:16that are going to be an all
- 31:17in process of this.
- 31:18And it's different.
- 31:19Like, you know, you can be super,
- 31:21super strong and not have
- 31:22the gymnastics and that
- 31:23still works in grid.
- 31:24You know,
- 31:25you can be what's considered a
- 31:26strength specialist,
- 31:26a gymnastic specialist.
- 31:28You could be a utility player.
- 31:30Um,
- 31:31my preference is players that can do
- 31:32everything.
- 31:33I want utility players that
- 31:34could do gymnastics and, and strength.
- 31:37Um, but we're, we're looking at everyone.
- 31:39We have people trying out that are, um,
- 31:42collegiate football players,
- 31:43collegiate gymnastics that
- 31:44have no CrossFit experience.
- 31:45So it should be a nice, interesting,
- 31:47diverse group.
- 31:47It's going to be a lot of rookies.
- 31:48You know,
- 31:50we can't sign players from the
- 31:52good league until their
- 31:54free agency period starts.
- 31:56So like football, like, you know,
- 31:57like all these other sports,
- 31:58there is a resigning period.
- 31:59So we can't depend on that
- 32:01free agency to do our recruiting.
- 32:03We're going to have, you know,
- 32:05eighty percent rookies here.
- 32:07Aaron Frazier,
- 32:08live combine would be really cool.
- 32:11You know what?
- 32:11I'm glad you asked that
- 32:12because that allows me to
- 32:13plug the two live combines
- 32:15that we have scheduled.
- 32:17So I might have even forgot that.
- 32:19But July the nineteenth,
- 32:21we're doing our first one
- 32:22at Black Bear Athletics on Long Island.
- 32:24That's going to be from like
- 32:25twelve to three.
- 32:25That's on the website as well.
- 32:28And that's going to allow you to come down,
- 32:29meet myself,
- 32:30meet other people from the team.
- 32:31We have media there.
- 32:32Do a couple workouts.
- 32:33You obviously don't have to
- 32:34do all twelve of them that day.
- 32:35You could repeat them again
- 32:37as you can in the other workouts.
- 32:38And then we're doing another
- 32:39one at CrossFit Union Square,
- 32:41another awesome gym.
- 32:42This one's in the city.
- 32:44which is the only way you'll
- 32:45ever get me to go to the
- 32:46city is to go to this gym.
- 32:48And that's gonna be August
- 32:50ninth and that's from
- 32:50twelve thirty to four and
- 32:52that's gonna be another combine.
- 32:53And there may be some other
- 32:54satellite ones going on in
- 32:56different gyms and we can
- 32:57announce that as that gets
- 32:58later because we plan on
- 32:59having little pockets of
- 33:00gyms in the northeast.
- 33:01This isn't New York only.
- 33:02There's gonna be Rhode Island,
- 33:03there's gonna be the city,
- 33:04there's gonna be Jersey,
- 33:05there's gonna be Connecticut.
- 33:06And these little pockets of
- 33:07gyms are gonna allow
- 33:09athletes to practice with
- 33:10people local to them.
- 33:12practice with their
- 33:13community and kind of get
- 33:14the whole Northeast
- 33:15involved because you know,
- 33:17until they make a Boston
- 33:18grid team you know,
- 33:19I plan on tapping from,
- 33:20from the whole area.
- 33:22So as, as viewing grid,
- 33:25the one thing that I think
- 33:26that is lacking on the
- 33:27teams is communication.
- 33:29Right.
- 33:30And it's because it's essentially,
- 33:32you have all these athletes
- 33:33all over the country from
- 33:34most of these teams,
- 33:35they come together for that
- 33:36event or that match and,
- 33:38And they're not,
- 33:39they're not training daily for this.
- 33:42Right.
- 33:42Right.
- 33:43And so the communication sometimes lacks,
- 33:45is there an intent to kind
- 33:47of keep your team mostly
- 33:50people from your area?
- 33:52Or are you willing to grab
- 33:54if someone online from I'm in Columbus,
- 33:56Ohio gets on and they send
- 33:59you a video and you're like, damn,
- 34:00that guy's good.
- 34:01Are you willing to grab from outside your,
- 34:03or do you really want to
- 34:04keep it a New York based team?
- 34:08Yes and yes.
- 34:09I mean,
- 34:09this is going to be a
- 34:11Northeast-based team with a
- 34:13lot of athletes from New York,
- 34:14New York City, Connecticut, Massachusetts,
- 34:16New Jersey.
- 34:19We expect people to show up.
- 34:20We're going to have practices.
- 34:21We expect people to show up.
- 34:23If you're showing up from Ohio,
- 34:24then you're showing up from Ohio.
- 34:26I'm not going to say no to
- 34:28any opportunity.
- 34:29We'll look at everyone.
- 34:31You know, you have people like Kelsey,
- 34:33Kelsey Keel.
- 34:33She's competing.
- 34:35um with the sharks and
- 34:38that's obviously a top top
- 34:39level talent um you know
- 34:42listen if uh danielle
- 34:43brandon decides she wants
- 34:44to to be a new york world
- 34:45all of a sudden you know I
- 34:46think that's something that
- 34:47we would consider um but I
- 34:50would say predominantly the
- 34:51team is going to be in that
- 34:52northeast and we're going
- 34:53to make every opportunity
- 34:54to practice together
- 34:55because the way that grid
- 34:57is is it's very coaches coaching um heavy
- 35:00That's super important, the coaching,
- 35:02the strategy, the substitutions,
- 35:04and the transition and the
- 35:05teamwork is a very big part
- 35:08of this event.
- 35:08It's not just about who has
- 35:10the fittest people.
- 35:11It's actually furthest from that.
- 35:14That's what's kind of cool
- 35:15about this event.
- 35:16The coaches for GRID is very
- 35:18different than a CrossFit coach.
- 35:19A CrossFit coach, you go to an event,
- 35:21what are they doing at an event?
- 35:22They're holding the athlete's water bottle,
- 35:24cookie, and backpack,
- 35:25and they're kind of keeping
- 35:26their emotions in check in
- 35:27between events.
- 35:29um you know a little bit of
- 35:30guidance obviously in the
- 35:31workouts the coaches in a
- 35:32grid match are doing
- 35:34everything they are running
- 35:35the entire show just like I
- 35:38say basketball is pretty
- 35:39good analogy analogy or
- 35:40football they are running
- 35:42the whole show of what
- 35:44needs to go on match by
- 35:45match race by race yeah
- 35:49um jody lynn who is in the
- 35:51northeast um if you need a
- 35:53custom cabinet design she's
- 35:54your your person uh she
- 35:57asked the question in your
- 35:58role as gm do you need to
- 35:59gather all the money for
- 36:00the team or is that because
- 36:02you know in football the gm
- 36:04is kind of the guy who
- 36:06signs or signs the players
- 36:08makes the deals all that
- 36:10kind of stuff are you
- 36:11responsible for that or do
- 36:12you have like a cfo
- 36:14So we have a CEO, CFO,
- 36:18and it is an amateur league.
- 36:20So these athletes are not
- 36:21signing paid contracts on
- 36:23any of the teams right now.
- 36:25There are different
- 36:26individual sponsorship
- 36:28opportunities where
- 36:29athletes can work with a sponsor.
- 36:31They can get their company's
- 36:33name on their jersey.
- 36:34They can sell their own
- 36:35sponsorship deals and work with us.
- 36:38I will help every one of my athletes
- 36:40get as much sponsorship
- 36:41money for themselves as possible.
- 36:43I mean, I will do that.
- 36:44It's kind of a specialty I
- 36:46have as well with my events.
- 36:49But I'm consider, yeah, I mean,
- 36:52so yes and no.
- 36:54I do definitely think of
- 36:55myself in more of that GM baseball role.
- 36:58You know, get the roster,
- 36:59get the people set up, you know,
- 37:01put them in the best
- 37:02possible chance to succeed
- 37:03and then let the manager, you know,
- 37:05make the role.
- 37:05I guess baseball is not
- 37:06really like that anymore if
- 37:07you think about it.
- 37:08But,
- 37:10Hopefully the analogy fits.
- 37:12Everything's constantly changing,
- 37:13but I get what you're saying.
- 37:17So are you guys going to be
- 37:18competing next season?
- 37:28not going to announce
- 37:29anything because I'm not
- 37:30sure if they've officially
- 37:31announced it yet um but
- 37:33I'll be down there I'll be
- 37:33scoping stuff down there
- 37:35and then they hit their
- 37:36resigning period then they
- 37:37hit their free agency
- 37:37period uh but we're not
- 37:39waiting for that we're
- 37:40building our team now and
- 37:42we're going to get to work
- 37:42now it starts in spring of um
- 37:46and it's going to be pretty
- 37:47awesome we would like the
- 37:48whole community kind of get
- 37:49behind the wolves and we're
- 37:51going to try to build the
- 37:51fanship like you know we
- 37:53want our athletes at the
- 37:54gym practicing with other
- 37:56people from the community
- 37:57because that's how that's
- 37:59how you kind of get the
- 38:00community invested is you
- 38:01have to be a part of it you
- 38:02know it can't just be
- 38:03watching it from afar
- 38:04people have to be involved
- 38:06um but we're working right
- 38:07now I mean we are working
- 38:08right now I've had talks
- 38:09with many of athletes as
- 38:11soon as we can sign them
- 38:12we're going to start signing athletes um
- 38:16it's funny you say that to
- 38:17be a part of the community.
- 38:18I love that.
- 38:19I was watching boys
- 38:20interrupted last night and
- 38:21they were talking about
- 38:22when they would do class
- 38:23workouts and get beat by
- 38:26one of the studs in the class workout.
- 38:28Right.
- 38:29And they're like this,
- 38:30how's this happening?
- 38:30What's happening to me?
- 38:32And almost like it was an offense to them.
- 38:35And I wanted to be like,
- 38:36but do you realize what you
- 38:38just made that other dude's day,
- 38:41that community key guy that
- 38:43beat you in one workout.
- 38:46You made his day for like a month.
- 38:50you know what you talk about
- 38:51finding diamonds um you
- 38:53know we're going to have
- 38:54practices and there will be
- 38:56parts of the practices that
- 38:57are open to the community
- 38:58you want to come throw down
- 38:59come throw down we we can
- 39:00run simulation matches we
- 39:01can find stuff you never
- 39:03know who you find that way
- 39:04you have to keep an
- 39:05open-minded and you can't
- 39:07you know kind of assume
- 39:09because of someone's look
- 39:10or style that they're not
- 39:11going to be good at this
- 39:13you never know where you
- 39:13find your next year's
- 39:14players or you know
- 39:15villains because they do have
- 39:17same day signs they do have
- 39:19you know roster changes as
- 39:20the year goes so why not
- 39:22kind of groom people as
- 39:24they go you know I mean the
- 39:25more the merrier same thing
- 39:26goes for our combines down
- 39:28on the on the nineteenth
- 39:29and the ninth like whoever
- 39:30wants to come you have no
- 39:32intention of of trying out
- 39:33come down let's see let's
- 39:34see what you got you know
- 39:35let's see what you can test
- 39:37Mike Halpin says Adler
- 39:38talked about jumping into
- 39:39classes at his affiliate
- 39:41and that it challenged him
- 39:42as everyday athletes still
- 39:43have specialties,
- 39:44which is what the grid league highlights.
- 39:46If you like, you look at Matt Rattay,
- 39:50the man is faster on his
- 39:51hands than anybody in the world.
- 39:53Right.
- 39:54And he may not compete at
- 39:56CrossFit semifinals, but man,
- 39:58if there's no way anybody's
- 40:00beating him in a handstand workout.
- 40:02Yeah.
- 40:03And it gives those people that opportunity,
- 40:05those everyday heroes that
- 40:07have one thing they're really good at.
- 40:10Yeah, I mean, I'm a fan of Matt.
- 40:12I've watched him.
- 40:13He's an OG.
- 40:14I mean, he's been around a lot.
- 40:15He's been doing a lot of stuff.
- 40:16He's not just a gymnast.
- 40:18You know, the dude is super strong too.
- 40:20I think that fits the kind
- 40:22of person that's perfect for this.
- 40:24All right.
- 40:24So you're an elite athlete.
- 40:25You're in the top one percent.
- 40:27But you know what?
- 40:28Your gymnastics holds you back.
- 40:30You're still really good at it,
- 40:31but you're not going to get
- 40:32to the next level.
- 40:33You're not going to get to
- 40:33the games because you just
- 40:35can't do it like they can.
- 40:37you're still freaking amazing.
- 40:39And that allows you to shine on the grid.
- 40:42The gymnastics is also a
- 40:44little bit different.
- 40:44I mean,
- 40:44we have the need for pure gymnasts.
- 40:47I mean, if you can do back flips,
- 40:48if you can do aerials, if you can do,
- 40:50you know, back handsprings,
- 40:52that's a little bit
- 40:53different than the Von
- 40:54Limmel CrossFit that you'll see.
- 40:57Butterfly ring muscle-ups.
- 40:59So there's all sorts of
- 41:00athletes that can get involved and shine.
- 41:03Strongmen, stuff like that.
- 41:06Yeah.
- 41:07Well, I'm super excited for you.
- 41:10Keep sharing your stuff to my DM.
- 41:12I'll share everything I can
- 41:15with details of what you
- 41:16guys have going on.
- 41:17Good luck with Fight for the Fittest.
- 41:19Thank you.
- 41:20I have to make a decision in
- 41:22October of what competition
- 41:24I'm going to go to.
- 41:26I haven't been back to New
- 41:27York in a long time.
- 41:29There's something really
- 41:30wanting me to go up there.
- 41:33So maybe I'll pop in.
- 41:34Maybe you'll see me.
- 41:35If you're on like the edge of deciding,
- 41:38let me know what I can do
- 41:39to tip the edge to one side
- 41:41because I would love you to
- 41:42come to the event.
- 41:43That'd be awesome.
- 41:44Yeah.
- 41:45It's been a wild year.
- 41:46My wife had two total knee
- 41:47replacements this year.
- 41:49So that took out the front
- 41:50half of my travel schedule.
- 41:52So I've got some travel
- 41:53budget for the back end of
- 41:55the year and I'd like to go
- 41:57see some stuff.
- 41:59So I've heard so much about
- 42:02it and your people up there
- 42:03are so awesome.
- 42:04I'd love to love to head up there.
- 42:06All right.
- 42:07So then we'll talk soon and
- 42:07we'll make it happen.
- 42:09Okay.
- 42:09Awesome, Samuel.
- 42:10Thank you so much for being on.
- 42:12And with everybody else,
- 42:13thank you for being in the chat.
- 42:15Can't wait to be back with
- 42:17you guys tomorrow on Lunch
- 42:18with Clydesdale.
- 42:19And yeah,
- 42:21make sure you go follow Sam with
- 42:23both the New York Wolves
- 42:25and Fight for the Fittest on Instagram.
- 42:27And we'll see everybody next
- 42:28time on the Clydesdale Media Podcast.
- 42:31Bye, guys.
