- 0:00Speaker 1: Sutton and Withrow for sport and state were presented by

- 0:06Speaker 1: not Clay Travis Law, but you can certainly be represented
- 0:09Speaker 1: by Clay Travis Law. Accidents don't wait for great timing.
- 0:12Speaker 1: One bad moment, a wreck, a fall, a doctor who
- 0:15Speaker 1: wasn't paying attention. Suddenly, you're fighting an insurance company that
- 0:18Speaker 1: does this every single day. And that's why Clay started
- 0:20Speaker 1: Clay Travis Law. He's a Vanderbilt law grab, and he
- 0:23Speaker 1: built a firm around the idea that people deserve someone
- 0:26Speaker 1: willing to pay attention, ask the hard questions, push back
- 0:29Speaker 1: when things don't add up. experienced attorneys who bring the
- 0:32Speaker 1: fight to corporations on your behalf. And they're based in Nashville,
- 0:36Speaker 1: trusted across the country.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Car and truck wrecks, rideshare accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability,
- 0:41Speaker 2: product liability. If you were wrong, they want to hear
- 0:44Speaker 2: about it. Here's what they promise. Honesty. They don't sugarcoat

- 1:01Speaker 2: is too big or too small. Hut and I had
- 1:03Speaker 2: a first, speaking of Clay Travis Law, a first happened
- 1:06Speaker 2: for me this week that I forgot to tell you guys. Okay.
- 1:10Speaker 2: You know me. I've received many speeding tickets in my life. Oh,
- 1:13Speaker 2: here we go. It happened. I have never received a
- 1:16Speaker 2: warning until Wednesday of this week or Tuesday of this week.
- 1:21Speaker 2: I'm driving through a construction zone on my road, the
- 1:24Speaker 2: road next to my neighborhood. Okay. Going to take Evie
- 1:28Speaker 2: to go pitch at an indoor facility. How fast? She's
- 1:31Speaker 2: in the front seat. She's on a tablet. She's looking
- 1:34Speaker 2: at something, not paying attention. I'm like, we're getting pulled over.
- 1:37Speaker 2: And she's like, oh my gosh. And you can tell
- 1:38Speaker 2: she's so embarrassed. She's like middle school already, you know,
- 1:41Speaker 2: looking over here at the tablet as the cop pulls
- 1:43Speaker 2: us over. Cop comes up to the door, says, hey,
- 1:47Speaker 2: I got you going 42 and a 25. And I said- Oh, really?
- 1:51Speaker 2: I thought I was going 32, which is usually how
- 1:53Speaker 2: I respond. Sorry, I thought I was going 32. Goes
- 1:56Speaker 2: back to the car, comes back very quick, and he
- 1:59Speaker 2: just says, no ticket, giving you a warning, slow down. Also,
- 2:04Speaker 2: your tags are expired by over a year. And I'm like,
- 2:08Speaker 2: thank you. I will go tomorrow to the DMV, which
- 2:11Speaker 2: I did, to get the tags. Thank you, sir. And
- 2:13Speaker 2: I did turn to Evie, and I said, I guess
- 2:15Speaker 2: we're going to be late for practice tomorrow. When we
- 2:17Speaker 2: got pulled over, it was sort of a guilt trip
- 2:19Speaker 2: type thing. I was going to say, I think Evie
- 2:21Speaker 2: got you out of the ticket. Well, I was honestly,
- 2:24Speaker 2: during the time, trying to coach her up. I'm like,
- 2:25Speaker 2: can you look cute or something? Will you stop? Because
- 2:29Speaker 2: she didn't acknowledge the cop. She's looking over here at
- 2:32Speaker 2: a tablet. And she's in the passenger seat, and she's
- 2:35Speaker 2: looking over here, and I'm like, can you, like, hello, officer,
- 2:38Speaker 2: do something? And she's just like, Dad, what do you want?
- 2:40Speaker 2: I'm like, anything but what you're doing, but... Whatever she
- 2:44Speaker 2: did work, because I got my first ever warning, so
- 2:46Speaker 2: I'm psyched. Oh, man. Congrats. Thank you. This is a
- 2:49Speaker 2: big day. It's a huge day. Huge week for me.
- 2:52Speaker 2: We will celebrate by going to watch Tom Cruise later today.
- 2:56Speaker 2: In a movie that no one likes. We're going to
- 2:59Speaker 2: try to find.
- 2:59Speaker 1: A reason to like this movie while we watch it.
- 3:02Speaker 1: There's plenty to like across college football this weekend. It
- 3:07Speaker 1: is time for Chad Withrow's top 10 games of the
- 3:10Speaker 1: college football weekend.
- 3:11Speaker 2: We begin with game number 10. We're going to go
- 3:14Speaker 2: to the SEC. This might not be on a lot
- 3:15Speaker 2: of people's radar, but I love this matchup. It's Arkansas
- 3:19Speaker 2: at A & M. Texas A & M, a 14-point favorite.
- 3:22Speaker 2: 6 p.m. Central time, 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2. A &
- 3:26Speaker 2: M lost to LSU and Kentucky by a combined score
- 3:30Speaker 2: of 66-27 this week. You think this game is big?
- 3:34Speaker 2: They need to put it on Arkansas on this one. Arkansas,
- 3:37Speaker 2: by the way, and I know this didn't work out
- 3:39Speaker 2: well for you on Hard Rock Bet. They whip Tulsa 34-6,
- 3:44Speaker 2: but the Hogs have not won an SEC game since
- 3:48Speaker 2: beating Mississippi State two years ago in October of 2024.
- 3:52Speaker 2: That is their winless streak in the Southeastern Conference. This
- 3:56Speaker 2: is a must. This is a get-right game for A & M.
- 4:00Speaker 2: But Hutton, if this thing is even close in this one, boy, oh, boy,
- 4:04Speaker 2: are the whispers about Mike Yelko and his program going
- 4:09Speaker 2: to become yells. Now, did they just extend him? Oh, yeah,
- 4:14Speaker 2: he's got a sure-proof contract for sure, yes. But again,
- 4:19Speaker 2: speaking of yell leaders at Texas A & M, those
- 4:22Speaker 2: whispers become yells about him even if this game is close,
- 4:25Speaker 2: and that offense continues to look as bad as it has.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Game number nine. Number three, Notre Dame, a 21.5-point favorite
- 4:33Speaker 2: at North Carolina, noon Eastern, 11 a.m. Central on ESPN.
- 4:37Speaker 2: For the Irish, I mean, they just don't beat themselves.
- 4:40Speaker 2: They are a machine. Fewest penalties in college football, only
- 4:43Speaker 2: one turnover, and it was a meaningless interception where they
- 4:47Speaker 2: led 35-0 against Purdue in that game. They also have
- 4:51Speaker 2: the nation's number one defense. North Carolina, on the flip side,
- 4:54Speaker 2: they're the second fewest penalized team in America, so they're
- 4:58Speaker 2: not really beating themselves either. They did have a couple
- 5:00Speaker 2: of big turnovers in that loss to Clemson where they
- 5:03Speaker 2: let Clemson come back and beat them. But does Bill
- 5:06Speaker 2: Belichick have something up his sleeve in this game? I
- 5:08Speaker 2: doubt it, but I'll still be paying attention to game
- 5:10Speaker 2: number nine. Yeah, I'm only tuning in if this is close, Chad.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I don't think it will be. I'm with you. Game
- 5:16Speaker 2: number eight, huge game for Shane Beamer in South Carolina.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Number 24, Kentucky, on the road in Columbia to take
- 5:23Speaker 2: on the Cocks. The Cocks, a three-point favorite in this game.
- 5:26Speaker 2: 4-15 Eastern time, 3-15 Central time. on SEC Network. Lenora
- 5:31Speaker 2: Sellers has had a ton of success in his career
- 5:32Speaker 2: against Kentucky. 2-0, and they've beaten the Cats by a
- 5:35Speaker 2: combined 47 points in those two games. But this is
- 5:39Speaker 2: not your Mark Stoops Kentucky team. This is Will Stein
- 5:43Speaker 2: coming in with a swagger, an offensive identity, and he's
- 5:47Speaker 2: got a quarterback. Kenny Menchie, eight touchdowns to only one
- 5:50Speaker 2: interception so far this year. This Kentucky team looks legit.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Their offense looks way better than it did under Mark Stoops.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And they got a chance to go in and maybe
- 6:02Speaker 2: start the process of ending it for Shane Beamer if
- 6:05Speaker 2: South Carolina can't win as a home favorite in this one.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I would have South Carolina ranked just ahead of Arkansas
- 6:12Speaker 1: if we had power rankings for the SEC. I would
- 6:15Speaker 1: have Kentucky right in the middle of the pack right now.
- 6:20Speaker 1: They should win this game based on how they've played.
- 6:25Speaker 1: He's already suspended a player. beaver has but if they
- 6:29Speaker 1: lose this one does that locker room stay tight.
- 6:33Speaker 2: No it doesn't yeah and that's another factor in this
- 6:36Speaker 2: you're right dylan stewart suspended indefinitely will not play in
- 6:39Speaker 2: this game who is a star edge rusher for south
- 6:41Speaker 2: carolina game number seven let's stay in the sec auburn
- 6:45Speaker 2: unranked this is where i want my algorithm to give
- 6:47Speaker 2: me a ranking for everyone to tell us if yeah
- 6:50Speaker 2: auburn is 28th or 38th or whatever their rank but
- 6:53Speaker 2: auburn unranked at number 17 and Tennessee, 3.30 Eastern time
- 6:58Speaker 2: on ESPN. The Vols, a seven-point favorite. To me, this
- 7:01Speaker 2: is all about Tennessee showing something on offense. They lose
- 7:06Speaker 2: starting left guard Wendell Moy Jr. for the season in
- 7:09Speaker 2: that Texas game. Their offensive line, especially in the interior,
- 7:12Speaker 2: was atrocious in that game. They got nothing going in
- 7:15Speaker 2: the run game. They got nothing going outside blocking Colin Simmons,
- 7:19Speaker 2: who is the best edge rusher in the country. This
- 7:21Speaker 2: is the thing about Tennessee and Texas. You're not going
- 7:24Speaker 2: to see a defense better than Texas this year if
- 7:27Speaker 2: you're Tennessee. They are elite at every single level, and
- 7:31Speaker 2: they worked over Tennessee well. How do they respond? Auburn
- 7:34Speaker 2: has some deficiencies on both lines of scrimmage so far
- 7:37Speaker 2: this year. Can Tennessee run the football? I'm not saying
- 7:40Speaker 2: grow for 300 the way they were against Georgia Tech
- 7:43Speaker 2: and against Kennesaw State and Furman, but can they go
- 7:46Speaker 2: for 150-plus in this game? I think if they can
- 7:48Speaker 2: do that, they're not going to have any problems with Auburn.
- 7:51Speaker 2: And the storyline, though, Hutton, from a personal standpoint, is
- 7:55Speaker 2: it's the return of Alex Golish, who many Vols fans
- 7:57Speaker 2: say the offense has not been the same since he
- 7:59Speaker 2: left after the 2021-2022 run. And it's the return of
- 8:04Speaker 2: Tim Banks, who was the reason Tennessee wasn't better than
- 8:06Speaker 2: they were a year ago. Because they had a great offense,
- 8:09Speaker 2: maybe the best in the SEC last year, and they
- 8:11Speaker 2: couldn't stop anybody. So Josh Heupel fired Tim Banks. Now
- 8:14Speaker 2: he's the defensive coordinator at Auburn. I'm fascinated by this matchup.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Tennessee going with those Neyland Tribute smoky gray uniforms. Midfield
- 8:23Speaker 2: has an old school UT logo. JT has sent me
- 8:26Speaker 2: something that looks like a Rorschach test that he says
- 8:28Speaker 2: is a pumpkin and a ghost that I just can't
- 8:30Speaker 2: even see what he's saying in it. Yeah, I don't
- 8:34Speaker 2: know what he's going with that. I think it looks great.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I'm at TeamRankings.com.
- 8:37Speaker 1: They have Auburn as ranked 27th right now.
- 8:42Speaker 2: There you go. There you go. So, look, this is
- 8:44Speaker 2: a close game, right? 27 versus number 17 nationally from
- 8:48Speaker 2: what we've seen right now. Here's the bottom line. Tennessee
- 8:51Speaker 2: needs to win this game. You've got to find a
- 8:54Speaker 2: way to win this one. Then you get to Arkansas,
- 8:56Speaker 2: and then you give yourselves a chance in two weeks
- 8:58Speaker 2: against Alabama. But you've got to win this one first.
- 9:01Speaker 2: And this is a very important game for those Tennessee
- 9:04Speaker 2: coaches and players going up against their former coach, Alex Golish. Yeah.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I think they will. Yeah. It's– I think it's going
- 9:12Speaker 2: to be close, but I like Tennessee in this matchup, too.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Game number six. Let's go to the ACC. Pittsburgh at
- 9:18Speaker 2: Virginia Tech. The Hokies, a two-and-a-half-point favorite. This game's at
- 9:22Speaker 2: 7 o'clock tonight. We've got a good Friday night slate
- 9:24Speaker 2: of games on ESPN. Hokies are the nation's best in
- 9:27Speaker 2: sacks with 17 on the year. James Franklin teams, they
- 9:31Speaker 2: like to heat people up. They blitz a lot. On
- 9:33Speaker 2: the flip side, Pitt's defense has been very salty this
- 9:36Speaker 2: year and normally is under Pat Narduzzi, but Ethan Gruntmeyer,
- 9:41Speaker 2: The Penn State transfer, now starting quarterback for Virginia Tech,
- 9:44Speaker 2: he's a dink and dunk guy. So how do they
- 9:47Speaker 2: combat that with Pitt, who's also going to get after
- 9:49Speaker 2: the quarterback? Is that going to be an advantage for
- 9:51Speaker 2: Virginia Tech? Hudson, we've got a pair of undefeated teams
- 9:53Speaker 2: in this game when Pitt and Virginia Tech play. I've
- 9:56Speaker 2: been scrolling. I can't find Virginia Tech. I don't know
- 9:58Speaker 2: if they've left them out or if I just can't. read.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I'm taking Virginia Tech at home.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Two and a half point favorite for the Hokies. I
- 10:08Speaker 2: like that as well. Game number five. Penn State at Northwestern.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Penn State a two and a half point favorite. 7 p.m.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Eastern time tonight. Another great Friday game on Fox. $ 875 million.
- 10:21Speaker 2: That's the number. That's the number. That's the price that
- 10:24Speaker 2: Northwestern spent to renovate Ryan field. This is essentially a
- 10:28Speaker 2: brand new stadium, but it's deemed a renovation and a
- 10:32Speaker 2: grand opening. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They've been waiting a while
- 10:36Speaker 2: for this. Ryan field is a really old stadium. One
- 10:40Speaker 2: of the older ones in college football. And this is
- 10:42Speaker 2: the renovation for two years in the making this renovation. Um,
- 10:46Speaker 2: Here's the problem with Northwestern and Penn State tonight. I
- 10:49Speaker 2: like Northwestern. It was either my lock or our parlay
- 10:52Speaker 2: or something this week. I get them all confused. But
- 10:54Speaker 2: I like Northwestern. I'm betting the money line. Penn State
- 10:58Speaker 2: leads the nation in third down stops. 19.2% they're allowing.
- 11:02Speaker 2: That's a crazy stat of how good Matt Campbell's team
- 11:05Speaker 2: has been on defense. But Aiden Childs has been terrific
- 11:08Speaker 2: for Northwestern. 75% passing, five touchdowns. And this is not
- 11:13Speaker 2: against nobodies. This is against Colorado and Indiana. the last
- 11:16Speaker 2: two weeks. He's completed 75% of his passes. The Michigan
- 11:19Speaker 2: State transfer for the Northwestern Wildcats has been really good
- 11:22Speaker 2: this year. Can he lead them to victory at home tonight?
- 11:26Speaker 2: Friday night football on Fox and the Big Ten. I
- 11:29Speaker 2: like Northwestern in this game. Chad, your next matchup is
- 11:32Speaker 2: really the first test for Miami.
- 11:35Speaker 3: It is.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Number four, Miami. The Hurricanes, a 16.5 point favorite at Clemson,
- 11:39Speaker 2: 7.30 Eastern time on ABC. Look at the ACC. And ABC, hey,
- 11:46Speaker 2: not an SEC game in primetime at night. Bravo, ACC,
- 11:49Speaker 2: get it done. Atlantic Coast Conference, finally you have produced
- 11:52Speaker 2: a game that the Disney Corporation deems that America wants
- 11:57Speaker 2: to see in primetime for the first time this year. Clemson,
- 12:00Speaker 2: 2-0 in the ACC. They had 48 carries for 257
- 12:06Speaker 2: yards against Cal. They've got the ground game going. They've
- 12:09Speaker 2: got to find something in the passing game with Tate
- 12:10Speaker 2: Reynolds if they're going to pull off this upset against Miami.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Flip side, Darian Mensah has looked incredible for Miami. I'm
- 12:17Speaker 2: with you, Hutton. I think the biggest test so far
- 12:19Speaker 2: for Miami. And also, this is a... I mean, the
- 12:23Speaker 2: Undertaker meme coming out of the casket, this is that
- 12:26Speaker 2: for Dabo Sweeney. Wow, that's a great way to say it.
- 12:28Speaker 2: I mean, after that first week, everyone's clowning him for
- 12:31Speaker 2: his quotes and everything else. They beat North Carolina. They
- 12:34Speaker 2: get an under-the-radar good win against Cal, and they look
- 12:38Speaker 2: good in that game. If they beat Miami in this game,
- 12:41Speaker 2: I mean, you are going to have Pastor Dabo preaching
- 12:44Speaker 2: from the pulpit.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Oh, he's going to look at the reporter and say,
- 12:46Speaker 1: are you still keeping count.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Of our wins? I'm assuming this is Holly Roe. On
- 12:51Speaker 2: the sideline, too. So he's going to go up to
- 12:53Speaker 2: Holly Rowan. He's going to be ready to preach the
- 12:55Speaker 2: gospel of Clemson football if they can rise from the
- 12:58Speaker 2: dead and beat Miami in this game. Miami's averaged more
- 13:02Speaker 2: than 51 points per game to start the season. That's
- 13:04Speaker 2: been their opponents. Incredible. Incredible. Game number three. We're going
- 13:10Speaker 2: to talk to Ingo Martin next. He knows a thing
- 13:11Speaker 2: or two about the Florida Gators. That's where he started
- 13:13Speaker 2: his college career. Number eight, Florida. A five-and-a-half point favorite
- 13:16Speaker 2: at number 25, Missouri. 3.30 Eastern time on ABC. Because
- 13:21Speaker 2: of Jaden Ball and the rushing attack, Aaron Filo is 72%
- 13:25Speaker 2: completion percentage, averaging 14.6 yards per completion. That's high school-like.
- 13:31Speaker 2: We've seen teams in high school, I feel like covering
- 13:34Speaker 2: Alcoa teams in the past in the state championship, they
- 13:36Speaker 2: throw it seven times a game for an average of
- 13:38Speaker 2: 38 yards per completion because they run, run, run, run, run, run, run,
- 13:42Speaker 2: and then they pop it over the top for a
- 13:44Speaker 2: big play. That's been Florida's offense this year so far.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Austin Simmons on the flip side for Missouri, He passed
- 13:50Speaker 2: for 300 yards and three TDs versus Mississippi State, a
- 13:53Speaker 2: good one in the SEC. Staying with the SEC, game
- 13:56Speaker 2: number two, number seven Alabama, a six-point favorite at number
- 13:59Speaker 2: 16 Mississippi State, noon Eastern, 11 a.m. Central on ABC.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Kamario Taylor a week ago, 360, three touchdowns versus Missouri.
- 14:09Speaker 2: How about Keelan Russell for Alabama? Let's put him in
- 14:13Speaker 2: the Heisman conversation. If we're going 10 deep on that
- 14:16Speaker 2: list that we showed you for September, he's absolutely in it.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Keelan Russell, 71% completion percentage, 168 yards rushing, leading the
- 14:25Speaker 2: fourth best offense in college football for Keelan DeBoer and
- 14:29Speaker 2: Ryan Grubb and Alabama. That Alabama offense, very, very good.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Really good matchup in Starkville. This is a validation game
- 14:36Speaker 2: for both programs this season and for both quarterbacks. I
- 14:42Speaker 2: totally agree. And it's a huge quarterback matchup in this one, too.
- 14:47Speaker 2: We talked about the underrated Kamario Taylor versus Austin Simmons
- 14:51Speaker 2: a week ago. This is even more big time with
- 14:53Speaker 2: Keelan Russell. Two guys that could put themselves. Kamario Taylor's there.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Keelan Russell can announce himself in the Heisman conversation big
- 14:59Speaker 2: time with a big road performance and a win over
- 15:02Speaker 2: Mississippi State. If this is a shootout, which I think
- 15:04Speaker 2: it will be, by the way, especially whoever wins this shootout.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Game number one. Number five, Ohio State, JT's Buckeyes, a
- 15:12Speaker 2: 14.5-point favorite at number 14, Iowa. 3.30 Eastern time, 2.30
- 15:16Speaker 2: Central on CBS. Iowa, number one in the nation in
- 15:19Speaker 2: scoring defense, no surprise with the Hawkeyes and how they
- 15:22Speaker 2: play it. But they've yet to see Julian Sane and
- 15:25Speaker 2: Jeremiah Smith and Ohio State. Here is the inherent problem
- 15:29Speaker 2: with the Big Ten also. This is a giant game.
- 15:31Speaker 2: ESPN College game day is in Iowa City for the
- 15:33Speaker 2: first time in years. This is the primetime game. 3.30 Eastern,
- 15:38Speaker 2: CBS matchup for that conference. It's over a two-touchdown point spread. Yeah.
- 15:43Speaker 2: With the road team being favored. That's the issue. That's
- 15:47Speaker 2: the issue with this conference. It's way too top-heavy. Jeremiah
- 15:50Speaker 2: Smith is going to be the issue in this game. Yes.
- 15:53Speaker 1: He's the difference in Iowa being able to make Ohio
- 15:56Speaker 1: State drive the field. Because this dude can just go off.
- 16:00Speaker 1: And I think he continues that dominance. Speaking of a
- 16:05Speaker 1: good player that dominated.
- 16:08Speaker 2: We've got Eagle Martin coming up. Yeah, Eagle Martin, CPA
- 16:11Speaker 2: head coach. He's also the athletic director at Christ Presbyterian Academy.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Huge story out there. It's big in the state of Tennessee.
- 16:17Speaker 2: It's going to go national. And it is the decision
- 16:20Speaker 2: to leave region play within the TSSAA because of, we'll
- 16:25Speaker 2: call it the college footballification of the high school football
- 16:29Speaker 2: game that we're seeing a lot in the state of Tennessee.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yeah, has high school football lost its way? We'll ask
- 16:35Speaker 1: Eagle Martin next here on Hutton and Withrow. Good morning

- 17:47Speaker 1: This is a story that's happening right here in our
- 17:50Speaker 1: backyard of Nashville where we're based, but it's a discussion
- 17:54Speaker 1: and a topic across the country right now with high
- 17:56Speaker 1: school football.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Eagle, good to see you, man. Hope things are well.
- 17:59Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks for having me on. I got to say something.
- 18:02Speaker 3: I don't really appreciate the logo of the Crockett coffee.
- 18:06Speaker 3: There's nowhere in history where Davy Crockett stood on top
- 18:08Speaker 3: of a gator. So I feel like that's kind of targeting.
- 18:12Speaker 2: He's surfing. Are you claiming that we're being historically inaccurate here?
- 18:16Speaker 2: I am.
- 18:17Speaker 3: I don't know if I appreciate that logo. That's changing history.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Oh, man. It's what we do. You can't get in
- 18:26Speaker 2: the way of a good story, right? You got to
- 18:28Speaker 2: tell a good story. That's right. Yeah, man.
- 18:31Speaker 1: So, how long has today's decision of CPA going into pit?
- 18:36Speaker 2: How long has this been in the works?
- 18:39Speaker 3: Uh, I, you know, I don't know. I think, you know,
- 18:42Speaker 3: probably the, the, the conversations have been going for some time. Um,
- 18:46Speaker 3: you know, I'm kind of a different perspective. Uh, 1997
- 18:51Speaker 3: was my freshman year at NBA here in Nashville. Um,
- 18:56Speaker 3: division two started that year. Uh, we, we played father
- 18:59Speaker 3: Ryan in the state championship, father Ryan won the state championship. Um,
- 19:03Speaker 3: and that was the first year that, that the split happened.
- 19:07Speaker 3: And so, you know, you're looking at whatever that is,
- 19:09Speaker 3: 30 years of, of history of this, um, prior to 1997,
- 19:14Speaker 3: private schools in Tennessee were allowed four kids on financial
- 19:17Speaker 3: aid for, uh, you can go look, there's schools now
- 19:21Speaker 3: giving over five, $ 5 million in aid. Um, So it's
- 19:24Speaker 3: just this exponential growth. And you guys said it in
- 19:28Speaker 3: your lead-in. What we're just asking is, is there a
- 19:33Speaker 3: place for schools in Tennessee to continue a traditional high
- 19:39Speaker 3: school model where kids go to school from 7.30 to
- 19:43Speaker 3: 3 o'clock, where kids get to play three sports? I've
- 19:47Speaker 3: had kids that I've coached that have been the lead.
- 19:50Speaker 3: in the play, that have been the guy that's the
- 19:52Speaker 3: drummer in the band, kids that sing the national anthem before.
- 19:57Speaker 3: All of those things, in our opinion, is good for
- 20:00Speaker 3: a kid. They call these the formative years for a
- 20:02Speaker 3: reason because kids are learning different things that are going
- 20:06Speaker 3: to help them the rest of their life. The honest
- 20:08Speaker 3: truth is that I think I'd hope to push against
- 20:11Speaker 3: in anybody's argument is that I believe as somebody who's
- 20:15Speaker 3: been deeply impacted by the game of football, right? My
- 20:18Speaker 3: family did not have money to send me to college.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Football paid for my college. Football paid for the house
- 20:25Speaker 3: that I live in now. I'm not arguing that football
- 20:29Speaker 3: and what it can give people is not warranted, right?
- 20:31Speaker 3: I'm all for that. I've got a 16-year-old son who worked.
- 20:36Speaker 3: We've been to Clemson, we were at Georgia last week,
- 20:39Speaker 3: and we're going to Ohio State. His dream is to
- 20:41Speaker 3: be playing at one of those schools and everything that
- 20:45Speaker 3: it can afford him for his future wife and kids.
- 20:47Speaker 3: And so I think what we're saying is in Tennessee
- 20:50Speaker 3: private schools, is there a way that we can go
- 20:53Speaker 3: and play with the kids that are in our community,
- 20:56Speaker 3: play with the kids that go through a normal, transparent process,
- 21:01Speaker 3: and really provide a place that if the schools want
- 21:04Speaker 3: to operate like a Power 4 program, You know, I
- 21:07Speaker 3: mentioned it. So, you know, this is something I've been
- 21:09Speaker 3: talking about for a couple of years. We need to
- 21:11Speaker 3: have the infinity league, you know, like infinity scholarships, infinity recruiting.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Go do it. If you want college football at the
- 21:18Speaker 3: high school level, go do it. My sister and my
- 21:21Speaker 3: brother-in-law work at IMG in Florida.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Right.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Like, yeah, I think that's a great opportunity for families.
- 21:28Speaker 3: I just think, you know, Tennessee high school football, we
- 21:31Speaker 3: are we are hoping is for the kid. that is
- 21:34Speaker 3: going to be a lawyer, going to be a doctor
- 21:37Speaker 3: that's not dreaming of just going to college and playing
- 21:40Speaker 3: pro football. And so when I got hired 16 years ago,
- 21:45Speaker 3: it occurred to me every team that I was on
- 21:47Speaker 3: was trying to get us all ready for the NFL.
- 21:51Speaker 3: That's just not what the numbers say. And so when
- 21:53Speaker 3: I got here, like we talked about flipping it. So
- 21:56Speaker 3: let's treat all these kids like they're going to be
- 21:58Speaker 3: husbands and fathers and doctors and teachers and radio hosts.
- 22:02Speaker 3: rather than all of them are going to be pro
- 22:04Speaker 3: football players. And if they make it to the NFL,
- 22:06Speaker 3: that's the icing on the cake. If they make it
- 22:08Speaker 3: to UT, that's the icing on the cake.
- 22:11Speaker 1: And you had a great op-ed with the Tennessean, and
- 22:14Speaker 1: I encourage people to go read it, about a character
- 22:17Speaker 1: raising boys into men. I would say, you know, you
- 22:21Speaker 1: mentioned the 99% of the players.
- 22:23Speaker 2: You were the 1%, you know, like....
- 22:25Speaker 1: You're drafted by the Packers. You play at Florida. You
- 22:27Speaker 1: play at NBA. You end up with the Titans. I mean,
- 22:31Speaker 1: you are the 1%. When did it hit you that
- 22:37Speaker 1: this shouldn't be about win at all costs, so to speak?
- 22:41Speaker 3: When you go to the NFL and you're there and
- 22:45Speaker 3: everyone that's in the NFL knows that it stands for
- 22:47Speaker 3: not for long. So if I got in my wildest dreams–
- 22:52Speaker 3: which would have been $ 50 million in the bank, 10
- 22:55Speaker 3: years in the NFL. I would have been 33 years old.
- 22:59Speaker 3: I would have had a five-year-old and a three-year-old son,
- 23:03Speaker 3: and I would have had the rest of my life
- 23:04Speaker 3: to go learn. If the only thing I learned through
- 23:06Speaker 3: sports was how to read a defense, how to get
- 23:10Speaker 3: the most out of my teammates, then I think the
- 23:13Speaker 3: bar is too low, right? The bar is too low
- 23:15Speaker 3: for what football can offer. And so our hope is, again–
- 23:20Speaker 3: If a kid is good enough, I believe that God
- 23:23Speaker 3: has more to do with a kid playing Power 4
- 23:25Speaker 3: football than where you go to high school or who
- 23:28Speaker 3: you compete against. Just go look at highlight films across
- 23:30Speaker 3: the country of the five-star kids. Most of them aren't
- 23:34Speaker 3: at IMG. Most of them are at their county school,
- 23:36Speaker 3: their local school, playing with the guys that they played
- 23:39Speaker 3: T-ball with. And so it's just, we're pushing back on
- 23:44Speaker 3: everyone's got to go. You got to be on the
- 23:47Speaker 3: best team. You got to go do all this stuff.
- 23:48Speaker 3: I mean, there was a great post. Someone sent me
- 23:52Speaker 3: from a guy in Memphis. It was awesome. But essentially,
- 23:57Speaker 3: we have to look at what we are chasing, right?
- 24:00Speaker 3: Like as a culture, when 12-year-olds are getting paid to
- 24:04Speaker 3: go play baseball tournaments for a team across the country. Like,
- 24:08Speaker 3: what are we doing? When basketball players that are 14
- 24:11Speaker 3: years old are getting their whole family flown across the
- 24:13Speaker 3: country by Nike or Adidas, what are we doing? And again,
- 24:17Speaker 3: I'm all for it. If you can go do it,
- 24:18Speaker 3: LeBron James, right? Like if you're that kid, but I'd
- 24:22Speaker 3: argue that's the one in a billion, right? LeBron, and
- 24:25Speaker 3: he played football until his junior year for the record.
- 24:27Speaker 3: You know, we're just hoping that that can still exist
- 24:31Speaker 3: in the state of Tennessee, in, private school football in Tennessee.
- 24:37Speaker 2: So, full disclosure, I serve on the board of a
- 24:40Speaker 2: very small private school in Middle Tennessee, and a lot
- 24:43Speaker 2: of the talk with the TWSAA has been trying to
- 24:47Speaker 2: not move up in classification because our small private schools
- 24:52Speaker 2: simply cannot compete with, let's say, a Trent Dilfer and
- 24:54Speaker 2: Lipscomb Academy if they're in the same classification. It's just
- 24:57Speaker 2: not in the stratosphere of what would be right for
- 25:00Speaker 2: the players at our small private school, right? How much
- 25:04Speaker 2: of this angle is, we're talking about the upper, upper
- 25:08Speaker 2: echelon of 1%, a DGG at Baylor. When you see
- 25:12Speaker 2: that in a player who was from Canada that's now
- 25:16Speaker 2: in a boarding school, does that create, and I'm trying
- 25:20Speaker 2: to ask this in a way that doesn't sound like,
- 25:21Speaker 2: oh my gosh, people are making excuses, this and that,
- 25:23Speaker 2: you're being weak or whatever, but does it create a
- 25:27Speaker 2: safety concern at some point when you see a guy
- 25:29Speaker 2: that looks like Bo Jackson that's so different from everybody
- 25:33Speaker 2: else in high school football?
- 25:34Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think, again, my senior year, the 2000
- 25:40Speaker 3: football season, CPA won the single-A state title. It had
- 25:45Speaker 3: six kids that went on to play college football. All
- 25:48Speaker 3: six were kindergartners at CPA, right? It just was one
- 25:52Speaker 3: in a whatever class. I've been around this game my
- 25:57Speaker 3: whole life. I think what we're trying to avoid with
- 26:02Speaker 3: the transfer portal and all this kind of stuff is,
- 26:05Speaker 3: roster construction. There's got to be some limit. If you're
- 26:11Speaker 3: moving a kid in here in June that leaves again
- 26:14Speaker 3: in December for a senior year to simply play a
- 26:17Speaker 3: position for you that is a position of need, I
- 26:20Speaker 3: would argue that is more like college football than it
- 26:22Speaker 3: is like high school football. And all I think we're
- 26:25Speaker 3: saying is if you want to do that, that's awesome.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Go do it. But I think the schools that have
- 26:32Speaker 3: all selected to play a non-region schedule are all saying,
- 26:36Speaker 3: our mission here is more important than our athletic program.
- 26:39Speaker 3: What we're doing in education is more important than what
- 26:42Speaker 3: we're doing in athletics. And at CPA, the mission is
- 26:47Speaker 3: simply to help families and kids come to know who
- 26:49Speaker 3: God is. We want to do that without having to
- 26:52Speaker 3: sacrifice all the kids that are here. We've got some
- 26:55Speaker 3: unbelievable kids. We've got several kids that are going to
- 26:58Speaker 3: go play college football off of this year's team, we
- 27:02Speaker 3: had two kids in NFL training camps. I don't think
- 27:06Speaker 3: where you go to high school is going to make
- 27:09Speaker 3: or break whether or not you're going to go to
- 27:12Speaker 3: the NFL. Again, if God touches you, if you get
- 27:16Speaker 3: hit with the genetic lottery, you're going to go. If
- 27:19Speaker 3: you're 6'5 and run a 4'4, you're going to be
- 27:22Speaker 3: the guy that's number nine for Georgia that we watched
- 27:24Speaker 3: last week in the inside linebacker cold. That kid's a freak.
- 27:28Speaker 3: London Humphreys, who played for us, starting receiver at Georgia,
- 27:31Speaker 3: he's a freak. As a sophomore, he had the 11th
- 27:35Speaker 3: longest broad jump if he had been in the NFL
- 27:37Speaker 3: combine as a 15-year-old.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Wow. That's a freak.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Most of us aren't freaks. And so football, and you
- 27:45Speaker 3: can read about it, what we talked about in that
- 27:48Speaker 3: op-ed was football provides so much more, and what really
- 27:52Speaker 3: provides those opportunities is time to be with kids. not
- 27:56Speaker 3: bringing kids in for six months to use them to
- 27:59Speaker 3: win a football game so that for what? And again,
- 28:01Speaker 3: to your argument, Chad, a good Friday night for us
- 28:07Speaker 3: is a $ 20, 000 gate. There's just not the money in it.
- 28:12Speaker 3: So if you want to argue the money piece, if
- 28:14Speaker 3: you want to argue the safety piece, I think the
- 28:17Speaker 3: biggest thing is if you're constructing a roster and you're
- 28:21Speaker 3: operating like a college, you should want to go play
- 28:25Speaker 3: other teams that are operating like that. And so that's
- 28:29Speaker 3: really what we're talking about.
- 28:31Speaker 2: So, and for those that aren't familiar that maybe aren't
- 28:34Speaker 2: in the state of Tennessee with the structure, Division II
- 28:37Speaker 2: is private school classification in the state. And in football,
- 28:41Speaker 2: there's a 1A, a 2A, and a 3A of various
- 28:43Speaker 2: sizes of schools. 3A being the biggest, 3A including teams
- 28:49Speaker 2: that we're talking about that would be in this theoretical
- 28:51Speaker 2: infinity league. Is the solution here simple for the TSSAA
- 28:57Speaker 2: angle in that you could just simply take right now
- 29:00Speaker 2: the other schools, Christian Brothers, MUS, Chattanooga Christian, whoever else
- 29:04Speaker 2: is left to go to an independent schedule and put
- 29:08Speaker 2: those teams together and maybe a few others and create
- 29:11Speaker 2: a new classification system? within Division II? Is that what
- 29:14Speaker 2: the solution should look like for the TWSAA?
- 29:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I think, first of all, Mark Reeves in the TWSAA,
- 29:21Speaker 3: Mark is a good man who I've been blessed to
- 29:24Speaker 3: know for the 16 years I've been here. Again, growing
- 29:27Speaker 3: up in Nashville, being a part of the TWSAA, there
- 29:30Speaker 3: have been some unbelievably good people that have been called
- 29:34Speaker 3: into leadership here. Your answer to your question is, no,
- 29:37Speaker 3: this isn't simple. If it was simple, I believe Mark
- 29:40Speaker 3: and the team at Blessed Blade would have already settled it.
- 29:43Speaker 3: I think the biggest thing is getting everyone in a room,
- 29:47Speaker 3: and we do have clear rules here about things. The
- 29:51Speaker 3: question is operationally and how people interpret the rules. I
- 29:56Speaker 3: don't really think people are going out saying, We're going
- 29:59Speaker 3: to break the rules. I just think people have a
- 30:02Speaker 3: different way of viewing them. But again, high school football,
- 30:08Speaker 3: I don't know because I haven't done any research, but
- 30:11Speaker 3: I don't know, to answer your question, I don't know
- 30:14Speaker 3: how many Canadians are playing in Division I. That would
- 30:16Speaker 3: be a good question to ask. How many Canadians are
- 30:19Speaker 3: playing football in the 1-6A in Division I in Tennessee?
- 30:24Speaker 3: And so, again, if you're operating like a college.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I think the number is low. I'm going to go ahead.
- 30:28Speaker 3: And guess that I would say it's low, but never zero.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Right.
- 30:32Speaker 3: I don't know. But we just need to look at it.
- 30:36Speaker 3: We have a lot of smart people here in our state.
- 30:39Speaker 3: We've got a lot of people that are that are
- 30:41Speaker 3: trying to do the right thing. And to your question
- 30:43Speaker 3: about if it's simple, I just think most of the
- 30:46Speaker 3: private schools in Tennessee want to stick to their mission
- 30:50Speaker 3: and don't want to be a part, in my opinion,
- 30:52Speaker 3: of a race to the bottom.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Right?
- 30:55Speaker 3: I don't think what is happening in college football right
- 30:57Speaker 3: now should be the example for all of us in
- 31:01Speaker 3: high school sports. If it is, I believe in our country, right?
- 31:06Speaker 3: Like it's a free country. It's a capitalist country. Like
- 31:09Speaker 3: let's do it. Let's just put those schools that are
- 31:11Speaker 3: operating that way together. But no, like again, football has
- 31:15Speaker 3: given me so much. I'm so thankful for the opportunities.
- 31:19Speaker 3: I mean, even thinking about the men that I've met,
- 31:22Speaker 3: Dustin Wilson, head coach at Springfield. That's a guy that's
- 31:26Speaker 3: doing things the right way. Tony Bernetti here in Metro
- 31:29Speaker 3: Nashville at Pearl Cone. Tony is fighting for these kids.
- 31:32Speaker 3: His whole mission is to help get these kids to
- 31:34Speaker 3: college so that they can go better in their lives.
- 31:36Speaker 3: That's who we need to be celebrating, in my opinion,
- 31:39Speaker 3: rather than the ones who are constructing rosters and operating
- 31:43Speaker 3: like it's college football when our rules are clear, you
- 31:46Speaker 3: can't operate it like that.
- 31:49Speaker 1: From your perspective, Ingle, how much of this is tampering
- 31:52Speaker 1: and just the recruitment of this? I'm not trying to
- 31:55Speaker 1: make this Clemson versus Ole Miss, but like Warren County,
- 31:59Speaker 1: where I went to high school, they went to a
- 32:01Speaker 1: non-region season. They're winning games. They did it so they
- 32:06Speaker 1: could actually win games. They were playing Riverdale, Oakland, Blackman
- 32:09Speaker 1: every year. I won four games my high school career total.
- 32:13Speaker 1: So like they're winning. The school spirit's up, but I'm
- 32:17Speaker 1: guessing like, you know, from your perspective, you're already winning games,
- 32:21Speaker 1: you know, you're state champs and all that. Like, so
- 32:23Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure out, like, there's different reasons for
- 32:26Speaker 1: different teams doing this, right?
- 32:27Speaker 3: Yeah, and again, I think it's the exponential growth the
- 32:30Speaker 3: last couple of years of this model. And so we're
- 32:35Speaker 3: hoping that these opportunities don't dry up in our league for, again,
- 32:42Speaker 3: a kid that wants to go to basketball next season
- 32:44Speaker 3: or play baseball or play lacrosse or, like, we would
- 32:48Speaker 3: love a kid to be able to experience all these things.
- 32:51Speaker 3: You know, I don't know, you know, to speak on,
- 32:54Speaker 3: you know, tampering or any of that. Like, I don't,
- 32:56Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't want to, I don't want to, again,
- 32:59Speaker 3: I think people read the rules differently. But I do
- 33:03Speaker 3: think that, that the opportunity that we have is tied
- 33:06Speaker 3: back to our mission. You know, winning takes care of itself.
- 33:12Speaker 3: You know, I think that the biggest thing is we
- 33:13Speaker 3: have an opportunity here. to hopefully get some conversations started. Um,
- 33:19Speaker 3: and it's, this is not easy, right? My son is
- 33:21Speaker 3: a junior. He's going to be a senior, my son's
- 33:23Speaker 3: senior year. We're going to be playing a non-region schedule.
- 33:26Speaker 3: My younger son will be a freshman. Like I'm not
- 33:28Speaker 3: just entering this as a coach and administrator who is
- 33:31Speaker 3: out of touch. Like my family is directly impacted by this. Um,
- 33:35Speaker 3: but I believe that, that, you know, for me, that
- 33:40Speaker 3: what is going to happen in my boy's life's Much
- 33:43Speaker 3: more of it is what they're going to experience in
- 33:45Speaker 3: the locker room and the coaches that they're around rather
- 33:48Speaker 3: than them learning how to block or tackle or who
- 33:51Speaker 3: they're competing against, all that kind of stuff. And that's what,
- 33:53Speaker 3: you know, we went to Tupelo, Mississippi, played the number
- 33:56Speaker 3: one team in Mississippi this year. We went to Moeller
- 33:58Speaker 3: in Ohio. Like, there's good football all over the place.
- 34:02Speaker 3: And there's nothing, I'm not, bashing anybody. Go do it.
- 34:07Speaker 3: We're just trying to say that in Tennessee, there are
- 34:10Speaker 3: clear rules. Let's have a real conversation about it. Let's
- 34:13Speaker 3: start looking at how do we make this thing, again,
- 34:17Speaker 3: where a kid that wants to play three sports or
- 34:19Speaker 3: be the lead in the play, he has an opportunity
- 34:22Speaker 3: to do it. And there's not this pressure that says,
- 34:25Speaker 3: if you don't get six linemen that are 6'6, 300 pounds,
- 34:30Speaker 3: you probably aren't going to get on the field. And
- 34:31Speaker 3: so numbers are dropping because I believe people are operating
- 34:36Speaker 3: like this. And so if you're a kid that's a 5'11,
- 34:39Speaker 3: 205-pound kid, you know, it's tough anywhere to get on
- 34:42Speaker 3: the field because of all this pressure. Oh, you got
- 34:44Speaker 3: to go win. You got to go win. And I
- 34:46Speaker 3: think our argument is at what cost, you know, at
- 34:49Speaker 3: what cost? I got a call from a guy in
- 34:52Speaker 3: Little Rock, Arkansas yesterday. Arkansas is in a similar kind
- 34:56Speaker 3: of predicament. They've got, you know, eight of their ten
- 34:59Speaker 3: private schools that play football in you know, they're all
- 35:02Speaker 3: playing against 7A schools because of a multiplier. And so
- 35:05Speaker 3: at some point, like we all have to talk about it, Oklahoma,
- 35:09Speaker 3: their private schools just sued about kind of these kind
- 35:15Speaker 3: of questions that everyone faces. Florida just started something that
- 35:19Speaker 3: I think is pretty good. Doesn't matter if you're public, private,
- 35:21Speaker 3: single A, triple A, 7A, you know, if you're in
- 35:25Speaker 3: the top 16 at the end of the year, you
- 35:27Speaker 3: go into a different bracket for football. So I just
- 35:29Speaker 3: think there's a way to create some parity. That's what
- 35:32Speaker 3: we're all looking for. There's a reason why Swanee does
- 35:35Speaker 3: not play Tennessee anymore. You know, Swanee at some point said, Hey,
- 35:40Speaker 3: we're going to look at this a different way. The
- 35:42Speaker 3: Ivy leagues, they got more money than, than anybody. They
- 35:46Speaker 3: have all come together and said, Hey, we're not going
- 35:48Speaker 3: to give merit based aid and athletics. It's all need
- 35:51Speaker 3: based aid. And they have a band system where that's
- 35:54Speaker 3: how kids qualify for the aid and, and they go
- 35:56Speaker 3: compete against like-minded schools. So that's all we're, we're trying
- 35:59Speaker 3: to say is like, let's get like-minded schools together.
- 36:03Speaker 2: You know, no one's going to cry over the wealthy.
- 36:05Speaker 2: I understand that. You went to NBA. Clay, Travis, our founder,
- 36:10Speaker 2: he's got a son playing at NBA right now. And
- 36:13Speaker 2: we recently had this conversation with him about it. If
- 36:17Speaker 2: you are a third generation NBA or Baylor student, you know, parent,
- 36:23Speaker 2: and your kid is going to that school and you're
- 36:25Speaker 2: paying full tuition, I do think it brings up an
- 36:28Speaker 2: interesting dilemma when these schools will then go and recruit
- 36:32Speaker 2: players from all over internationally, not just in the country,
- 36:36Speaker 2: and then your child does not have the opportunity to play,
- 36:39Speaker 2: but you win all the time, right? You're going to
- 36:41Speaker 2: win state titles, and you're going to be a part
- 36:42Speaker 2: of a team that does that. I don't know what
- 36:44Speaker 2: the answer is to that, and we'd have to ask
- 36:46Speaker 2: the Baylor parents or parents at another school about that, Engel,
- 36:50Speaker 2: but just as a dad that you are, a guy
- 36:52Speaker 2: who played at a really great private school and went
- 36:54Speaker 2: there also, what does that do to you as a
- 36:58Speaker 2: parent if you see those things happening and is it
- 37:00Speaker 2: a case by case basis?
- 37:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I certainly think it's case by case. I would,
- 37:06Speaker 3: I would tell parents to, especially in high school again,
- 37:10Speaker 3: like don't, don't let fear drive your decision.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Right.
- 37:14Speaker 3: Again, the freedom is that God's got more to do
- 37:17Speaker 3: with it than where, Oh my gosh, I got to
- 37:20Speaker 3: have them at this spot. Like have them around good people,
- 37:23Speaker 3: have them around somewhere where he's going to get to
- 37:25Speaker 3: work out and reach whatever that potential is because college
- 37:28Speaker 3: football will be there if that's what you want. But
- 37:32Speaker 3: you know, for, for, for NBA, like, I haven't been
- 37:36Speaker 3: a part of that school since 2001. Obviously got friends
- 37:39Speaker 3: that are a part of it. I've got as much
- 37:41Speaker 3: respect for Montgomeryville Academy as I do anybody in the
- 37:44Speaker 3: state because of what it offered me as a student.
- 37:48Speaker 3: But I promise you, my athletics was not put ahead
- 37:52Speaker 3: of my academics or doing the right thing. There were
- 37:56Speaker 3: lots of men that poured into me that reminded me
- 37:59Speaker 3: of that daily. And so that's what we're trying to
- 38:02Speaker 3: do at CPA, right? You're who you are. Your identity
- 38:05Speaker 3: is not in scoring touchdowns or, you know, even getting
- 38:09Speaker 3: into Princeton or whatever your goal is academically. Your identity
- 38:13Speaker 3: is in something much bigger than that. And I think
- 38:15Speaker 3: that's what we're hoping, right? Like these kids, I don't
- 38:19Speaker 3: care if you're the worst player on the roster or
- 38:21Speaker 3: the best player on the roster, you're all actually in
- 38:25Speaker 3: the Lord's eyes, right? Like, and I don't mean to
- 38:27Speaker 3: get religious here, but but you're all equal. You all
- 38:30Speaker 3: have a great opportunity as a husband, as a father.
- 38:33Speaker 3: And this idea that we're all enemies in high school,
- 38:36Speaker 3: that's a farce, right? All these guys in middle Tennessee
- 38:39Speaker 3: are going to be doing business together, going to host
- 38:41Speaker 3: radio shows together. You don't have to be an enemy.
- 38:44Speaker 3: Let's go compete, but let's compete with integrity. And again,
- 38:49Speaker 3: I've been so blessed with my time here. There's a guy,
- 38:52Speaker 3: Randy Heron, who's been pouring into myself and all of
- 38:55Speaker 3: our coaches for 16 years here. But He gave me
- 38:58Speaker 3: a book called Season of Life when I was playing
- 39:00Speaker 3: for the Kansas City Chiefs. And it changed my whole
- 39:03Speaker 3: paradigm of what sports can be. And so as a
- 39:07Speaker 3: 25-year-old in my third year in the NFL, I started
- 39:11Speaker 3: for the first time thinking about, man, there's a power
- 39:14Speaker 3: here that maybe we're not tapping into. And then just
- 39:18Speaker 3: as my path went, I'm 28, get hired as a
- 39:22Speaker 3: first-time head coach at CPA. And it's like, all right,
- 39:25Speaker 3: I think we can do something different here. And that's
- 39:28Speaker 3: what I'm saying. There are so many people in the
- 39:30Speaker 3: state of Tennessee and all over the country that are
- 39:32Speaker 3: in high school football for the right reasons. Nobody coaches
- 39:36Speaker 3: high school football to be rich and famous. I don't believe. Right.
- 39:40Speaker 3: I think we're losing some of that because I do
- 39:42Speaker 3: think people have some ego that's getting involved. But most
- 39:46Speaker 3: of us are coming here because we're called to do it.
- 39:49Speaker 3: because we love pouring into these 15 to 18 year olds.
- 39:52Speaker 3: We love the camaraderie. We love the development. All of
- 39:55Speaker 3: us had people that believed in us as, as 15, 16,
- 39:59Speaker 3: 17 year olds that said, Hey, you got more potential
- 40:01Speaker 3: inside of you than you're showing right now. Right now.
- 40:04Speaker 3: And it rarely has anything to do with your athletic ability.
- 40:08Speaker 3: All of those conversations that happened to me were around
- 40:10Speaker 3: character or around hard work around doing the right thing.
- 40:13Speaker 3: It wasn't about You should have looked here on the
- 40:16Speaker 3: first read. No, it was about all the things that
- 40:18Speaker 3: football teaches you. I told our team yesterday, I believe
- 40:21Speaker 3: football is the greatest sport in America and in the
- 40:23Speaker 3: world because of the adversity that you face. No other sport,
- 40:28Speaker 3: no matter how good you are, do you get knocked
- 40:29Speaker 3: down and you got to learn how to get back up.
- 40:32Speaker 3: No other sport says, I can't do this alone. The
- 40:35Speaker 3: best player in the country needs 10 other guys with him.
- 40:37Speaker 3: DGG is the best player ever in Tennessee that I've seen.
- 40:41Speaker 3: He needs 10 other guys to do their job.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Right.
- 40:44Speaker 3: He's still a great back. But if he doesn't have
- 40:46Speaker 3: a great offensive line and great tight ends and great
- 40:48Speaker 3: receivers and a great quarterback. And and I think they've
- 40:50Speaker 3: got a great coaching staff like football is so beautiful
- 40:53Speaker 3: because not only do you need those guys, you need
- 40:55Speaker 3: those scout team guys. You need the guys that are
- 40:57Speaker 3: pushing you an individual. You need the guys that are
- 40:59Speaker 3: pushing you in the weight room. And and that's what
- 41:01Speaker 3: football brings is that community aspect. And we're we're simply saying, hey, well,
- 41:06Speaker 3: our our school. MUS, Christian Brothers, Father Ryan here locally,
- 41:12Speaker 3: like we're saying, hey, we would like to still be
- 41:14Speaker 3: able to be a part of this without having to
- 41:17Speaker 3: think about building a dormitory or changing our model to
- 41:22Speaker 3: start acting like we're a college. That's what we're trying
- 41:25Speaker 3: to say. And I think Mark Reeves understands that. I
- 41:28Speaker 3: think it's hard. I think there's history with the TWS
- 41:32Speaker 3: DeBlay and private schools that goes back to before, you know,
- 41:36Speaker 3: I was even thinking about high school coaching. And so
- 41:39Speaker 3: all that to say, this isn't easy. Um, but, but
- 41:41Speaker 3: our hope is, is that, um, that there is a
- 41:44Speaker 3: spot for, for these kids to continue to play, um,
- 41:48Speaker 3: and continue to get poured into and continue to have
- 41:50Speaker 3: these life experiences that they will be able to touch
- 41:53Speaker 3: on when they're a 35 year old first time father
- 41:56Speaker 3: trying to pay a mortgage. And they remember, Hey, just
- 41:59Speaker 3: as one of our coaches, Trey Adams, our defensive coordinator
- 42:02Speaker 3: reminds our kids, When you're in that dark spot, man,
- 42:04Speaker 3: just make it to tomorrow. Make it to the morning, right?
- 42:07Speaker 3: The sun's going to rise the next day. Those are
- 42:09Speaker 3: the lessons that I hope these kids learn. But if
- 42:11Speaker 3: they don't think they can get on the field, if
- 42:13Speaker 3: they think they compete, then that pushes them to say,
- 42:15Speaker 3: I don't know if I can do it. And especially
- 42:17Speaker 3: if we're kind of adding to this win-at-all-cost culture.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Behind the scenes, I'd love to get fly on the
- 42:23Speaker 1: wall as you put together your schedule now.
- 42:25Speaker 2: And see what that's like.
- 42:27Speaker 3: If you know of anybody, if Warren County is looking
- 42:30Speaker 3: for a game, I know Coach Swallow is down there.
- 42:33Speaker 3: We'd love to band together, non-region partners.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Hey, I want to ask you about the 1%. Was
- 42:42Speaker 1: it 2006 you were drafted?
- 42:43Speaker 2: 2006.
- 42:44Speaker 3: Okay.
- 42:45Speaker 1: That's the cloudy draft, Reggie Bush, the Vince Young, and
- 42:49Speaker 1: Eagle Mark. And you go into a quarterback room with
- 42:52Speaker 1: the Green Bay Packers, Brett Favre, Air Rodgers.
- 42:55Speaker 2: McCarthy.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I'm curious, like what the dynamic we're seeing right now
- 43:00Speaker 1: in Pittsburgh, where he's yelling across the field to get
- 43:04Speaker 1: the effing play in and Thursday night football and it's
- 43:07Speaker 1: picking up on the mic. You've got McCarthy saying something
- 43:09Speaker 1: back to him. Is that the dynamic that's normal? Are
- 43:12Speaker 1: you used to seeing that behind the scenes whenever you play?
- 43:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 43:16Speaker 3: So the funny thing is, is as a 23 year
- 43:20Speaker 3: old new draft pick, of course, you know who Brett
- 43:22Speaker 3: Favre is and You know, he was my favorite player
- 43:25Speaker 3: growing up, so I was like, man, this is awesome.
- 43:28Speaker 3: And then everyone's saying, what about this Rodgers guy? You know,
- 43:30Speaker 3: how good is he? And, you know, after a couple
- 43:32Speaker 3: of weeks, people are asking, he's pretty good, man. That
- 43:35Speaker 3: guy's accurate. And so to watch that, I do think this.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Aaron is one of the most intelligent people I've been around, right?
- 43:44Speaker 3: He could have been successful in any vein that he
- 43:48Speaker 3: would have walked down, I believe. He has a focus.
- 43:51Speaker 3: He has an intellect. He's able to process stuff incredibly.
- 43:55Speaker 3: I think Aaron's best comes out when he's around another
- 43:59Speaker 3: equally intellectually talented person. Mike McCarthy, being around him for
- 44:03Speaker 3: the year and a half I was, I've got nothing
- 44:05Speaker 3: but respect for him. The way that he structures practice,
- 44:08Speaker 3: the way that he organizes, the way that he communicates
- 44:11Speaker 3: is really a lot of how I hope to do things.
- 44:14Speaker 3: I think the two of them are a great match.
- 44:17Speaker 3: I think you know, it's a, it's a battle of
- 44:20Speaker 3: wits between them, right? Like the two of them are bright.
- 44:23Speaker 3: They know football, they see things differently. And so I
- 44:26Speaker 3: think it's a, it's a cool way for Aaron's career
- 44:28Speaker 3: to be ending back kind of where it started. And,
- 44:31Speaker 3: and I think both of them will bring out the
- 44:33Speaker 3: best in each other, just like they did in Green Bay.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Man, think about being 23 and entering the Pittsburgh locker
- 44:38Speaker 1: room and seeing that dynamic now, because you don't see
- 44:40Speaker 1: that at all.
- 44:40Speaker 3: You know, it's, it's unbelievable. And that, that's just a
- 44:44Speaker 3: different thing. You know, Brett was in his 16th year
- 44:46Speaker 3: when I was there and, Again, the confidence that he
- 44:49Speaker 3: walked with, the way that he played, the way that
- 44:51Speaker 3: he approached his teammates, the way that he approached practice,
- 44:55Speaker 3: just had an uncanny ability to be messing around over
- 44:58Speaker 3: here and then snap right into it and throw a
- 45:00Speaker 3: dart to somebody on something. And I was like, how
- 45:02Speaker 3: did he even see that? But that's the reason he's
- 45:05Speaker 3: a Hall of Famer.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Hey, man, always good to catch up. And thank you
- 45:09Speaker 1: for the perspective and the time today. It was a
- 45:11Speaker 1: great chat. And it's a discussion that's going on across
- 45:14Speaker 1: the country for sure.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you guys for covering it and giving high
- 45:19Speaker 3: school football a voice. We appreciate it.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Thank you, Engel. Appreciate you, man. Engel Martin, one of
- 45:23Speaker 2: the best dudes right there.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Man, the background and the experience with those football careers, exceptional.
- 45:31Speaker 2: Yeah, and just that philosophical question about what is high
- 45:35Speaker 2: school football and what should high school sports be, because
- 45:39Speaker 2: I think Engel hit on it. Look, there is a
- 45:40Speaker 2: lane for everything. Like, if you were that elite– and
- 45:44Speaker 2: you get a chance to play at IMG or Baylor
- 45:47Speaker 2: or go down those football factories and powerhouses across the country,
- 45:52Speaker 2: that's a decision you've got to make as a family
- 45:54Speaker 2: if that's what you want. But where's the avenue for
- 45:57Speaker 2: everyone else, and are we slotting teams in appropriate categories
- 46:00Speaker 2: of who they're competing against? Hun, we got a high
- 46:03Speaker 2: school game tonight between Friendship Christian and DCA. Those are
- 46:06Speaker 2: two very small private schools. You're going to see in
- 46:09Speaker 2: a stadium and see on the rosters– which there's not
- 46:12Speaker 2: a ton of players. They can't compete against these other
- 46:16Speaker 2: top-level schools that recruit and do all those things. It
- 46:21Speaker 2: is interesting about what do you want as a family
- 46:23Speaker 2: and what's appropriate for what high school football should be.
- 46:27Speaker 2: We're going to post that interview. I hope people go
- 46:29Speaker 2: and watch it. It's great for perspective building. I think
- 46:32Speaker 2: listening to Engel talk about that is amazing for parents
- 46:34Speaker 2: to hear. Because a lot of parents feel like their
- 46:38Speaker 2: kid's a D1 prospect when they're not. And I think
- 46:41Speaker 2: Engel hit on something. The people that we see on
- 46:43Speaker 2: Sundays in the NFL, they are God-touched in some way.
- 46:48Speaker 2: They're different. Hutton, you and I grew up playing sports.
- 46:51Speaker 2: We know when we came across someone that was simply
- 46:54Speaker 2: different than us. Even if we competed at a high
- 46:57Speaker 2: level at a good high school and good high school sports...
- 47:00Speaker 2: You remember the time you played that AAU team or
- 47:04Speaker 2: that football linebacker or whoever it was that was just
- 47:07Speaker 2: simply different, and God had blessed them with something that
- 47:12Speaker 2: you didn't have growing up as an athlete. Yes, and
- 47:15Speaker 2: everybody knows that name, right? Ron Slay. It's someone that
- 47:20Speaker 2: I've played against, and I'm like, okay, these guys on
- 47:23Speaker 2: this team are different than our guys. It's a good
- 47:26Speaker 2: perspective to have. And if you are a hard enough worker,
- 47:29Speaker 2: there are enough spots in college football at different levels
- 47:32Speaker 2: that if that's in the cards, it's going to be
- 47:34Speaker 2: in the cards somewhere. But not everybody's DGG. I mean,
- 47:38Speaker 2: you just heard Ingles say the quote. He's the best
- 47:40Speaker 2: player I've ever seen in the state of Tennessee. He's incredible.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Those players are going to happen. Derrick Henry's going to
- 47:46Speaker 1: run roughshod over the state of Florida.
- 47:48Speaker 2: Those dudes are going to come.
- 47:49Speaker 1: But there's... there's just a couple of teams right now
- 47:53Speaker 1: that are structured to win this way.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Yes.
- 47:56Speaker 1: And that, that's the real issue is like, what are,
- 47:59Speaker 1: what's the structure? What are the, what are the guardrails
- 48:02Speaker 1: to actually have a competitive environment and be about what
- 48:05Speaker 1: you want to be about? It's a difficult decision top
- 48:09Speaker 1: to bottom for, for every program. And I'm sure it
- 48:12Speaker 1: wasn't easy for, for CPA there to do this. We,
- 48:16Speaker 1: I've got, I feel like I've got an easy prop
- 48:19Speaker 1: coming up for hard rock. I think you're going to
- 48:22Speaker 1: want to follow this. And I've added a separate prop
- 48:27Speaker 1: as of last night when I heard a little trash.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Talk going across the NFL. Let's straight ahead.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Probably like it's hot here on Nothing to Withdraw. Chad,
- 48:35Speaker 1: there is one spot to get the official gear for
- 48:38Speaker 1: Nashville Balls.
- 48:40Speaker 2: It's XXXY Athletics.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Founded by Jennifer Say, former national champion gymnast, former Levi's
- 48:45Speaker 1: brand president. She walked away from a corporate job rather
- 48:47Speaker 1: than to say something that she didn't believe. And she
- 48:49Speaker 1: started XXXY Athletics instead. The mission, in their words, empower
- 48:53Speaker 1: female athletes and take a stand for fair competition. They
- 48:57Speaker 1: call it the T that launched a movement. And it's
- 48:59Speaker 1: real athletic apparel with XXXY.
- 49:02Speaker 2: And this is the official Nashville Balls gear, the only
- 49:05Speaker 2: place you can get it. The next big WNBA dynasty franchise.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Trucker hats, t-shirts, get them right now. New customers get 20%
- 49:13Speaker 2: off your first order when you sign up. And free
- 49:15Speaker 2: shipping over $ 100. XXXYathletics.com. That's XX hyphen.
- 49:25Speaker 3: This year, the biggest sportsbook party is getting even bigger.
- 49:28Speaker 2: Hey, there's J-Boy.
- 49:30Speaker 3: I mean, whether you've been here, you're just getting here,
- 49:32Speaker 3: everybody gets the same bonus bags. AJ, Jimmy Johnson.
- 49:37Speaker 2: Kevin.
- 49:38Speaker 3: They know me? Of course they know you. In this party,
- 49:41Speaker 3: everybody's somebody. And everyone gets bonus bets. Hey, that's Fat Joe.
- 49:46Speaker 2: Forget him. That's Jay Boyd.
- 49:47Speaker 3: Hey, Jay Boyd.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Everybody on Hard Rock Bet gets $ 100 in bonus bets.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Limited time only. My name's Jay Boyd. I got that.
- 49:54Speaker 3: I got that.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Yeah, limited time only. You got through the week in here.
- 49:58Speaker 1: October 4th is when this ends. Bet $ 5. Get $ 100
- 50:01Speaker 1: in bonus bets for new customers right now.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Hardrock.bet.com.
- 50:05Speaker 3: Hardrock.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Dot bet slash clay. Chad, it is time for profit
- 50:10Speaker 1: like it's hot as we go into the weekend. I've
- 50:13Speaker 1: got a four-leg anytime touchdown parlay for you. That is
- 50:18Speaker 1: a winner. I mean, look at the odds here. I
- 50:20Speaker 1: just went with the top odds of guys to just
- 50:22Speaker 1: score a touchdown. Anytime touchdown. Jonathan Taylor, Derrick Henry, Jameer Gibbs,
- 50:27Speaker 1: and your boy, Scadaboo. They're all going to score this week, Chad.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Let's go. You bet, Jameer. I put $ 5 on this.
- 50:36Speaker 2: It pays $ 21. 40.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Let's prop it like.
- 50:39Speaker 2: It's hot here.
- 50:40Speaker 1: And I have added another prop that I've already played
- 50:45Speaker 1: just based on a vibe that I got from the
- 50:48Speaker 1: Cincinnati Bengals and the top wide receiver, Jamar Chase. Here
- 50:54Speaker 1: is Jamar Chase. He was asked specifically, they're playing the
- 50:57Speaker 1: Jacksonville Jaguars. He's asked about the matchup with Travis Hunter.
- 51:02Speaker 2: That's all I got. Let's go. Profit like it's hot.
- 51:04Speaker 2: I have already placed it. Jabbar Chase.
- 51:20Speaker 1: A touchdown in both halves. He's going off this week,
- 51:24Speaker 1: and I think the Bengals get the victory because of
- 51:28Speaker 1: the wide receiver play. And again, the rules are stacked
- 51:31Speaker 1: against Hunter anyway, defensively.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Chase is going to go off. He's ready. Incredible stuff
- 51:37Speaker 2: there from Jamar Chase. Love the arrogance. That's all I got.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Love all of that. I'll tell you someone else who's confident.
- 51:44Speaker 2: I wouldn't say arrogant, but knows how great they are.
- 51:47Speaker 2: That's Derrick Henry. He may end up at the end
- 51:49Speaker 2: of his career being the best running back to ever
- 51:51Speaker 2: play in the NFL. He is a stud, and he
- 51:54Speaker 2: is going to stud out on his former team, the
- 51:57Speaker 2: Tennessee Titans, this weekend. I got big plus money here,
- 52:01Speaker 2: plus 240 for him to score two plus touchdowns, over
- 52:04Speaker 2: one and a half touchdowns for my prop this Sunday
- 52:07Speaker 2: against the Titans. Look, I think Big Jeff is going
- 52:10Speaker 2: to have something to say about this also, and he's
- 52:12Speaker 2: a highly motivated dude. He's a very good player, and
- 52:14Speaker 2: that Titans defensive line may stuff Derrick Henry a More
- 52:18Speaker 2: times than not, but Hutton, it feels like the type
- 52:21Speaker 2: of game just like Philly sticking it to the Titans
- 52:25Speaker 2: with A.J. Brown and finding ways and creative ways to
- 52:28Speaker 2: get into football that eventually got John Robinson fired after
- 52:32Speaker 2: that game by Amy Adams-Strunk. This feels like a stick-it-to-you
- 52:36Speaker 2: type performance. from the Ravens and Jesse Minter and what
- 52:40Speaker 2: they're going to do with their game plan to get
- 52:42Speaker 2: the big man the ball. As we heard at Gallatin
- 52:45Speaker 2: High School at one point on their broadcast, load the wagon.
- 52:48Speaker 2: That's what we're going to do. The Ravens will load
- 52:51Speaker 2: the wagon. Give me, Derrick Henry, two-plus touchdowns with my
- 52:56Speaker 2: hard rock bet. Prop it like it's hot. Chad, there
- 52:58Speaker 2: was always the.
- 52:59Speaker 1: One team that Henry just ran all over.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Jacksonville. Yes. This is his new Jacksonville. Um, it's belt
- 53:09Speaker 2: to ass this week.
- 53:11Speaker 1: I mean, I think he's mentally, he's already psyching himself
- 53:14Speaker 1: up saying that they, you know, they, they kicked me
- 53:16Speaker 1: out the door. That's not how that went down. But
- 53:19Speaker 1: like Blaine Bishop would always tell us, like he would
- 53:21Speaker 1: mentally try to psych himself out of the truth. That
- 53:24Speaker 1: way on game day, he was talking like, how dare
- 53:27Speaker 1: you say that about my mom or whatever. And the
- 53:29Speaker 1: guy's like, Blaine, I don't know what you're talking about.
- 53:32Speaker 1: But he believed it during the week. I think this
- 53:33Speaker 1: is Henry just getting motivated to play his sport. And
- 53:36Speaker 1: he gets to do it at home. I think he's
- 53:40Speaker 1: going to perform very well, to say the least. He
- 53:41Speaker 1: does it every week. It's only plus 240 for two touchdowns.
- 53:45Speaker 2: In the game. That's crazy. I've got the program right
- 53:48Speaker 2: behind me, the poster classic 90s college football movie. That's
- 53:52Speaker 2: what Alvin Mack would do. Part of his plot was
- 53:54Speaker 2: in the games, he'd go up to the running back
- 53:56Speaker 2: or the quarterback and make things up. He's like, you're
- 53:59Speaker 2: the one who got my baby sister pregnant. He's like, dude,
- 54:02Speaker 2: I don't even know your sister. He's just making up, oh,
- 54:05Speaker 2: I remember you. I know who you are during the
- 54:07Speaker 2: game talking trash to him. Multiple times. Alvin Mack, great
- 54:10Speaker 2: movie character. Yeah, Derrick Henry's going to go off this week.
- 54:13Speaker 2: And of all the marketing slogans and things that the
- 54:16Speaker 2: city of Nashville or the Titans would want to become,
- 54:19Speaker 2: New Jacksonville is not one of them. The New Jacksonville.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Can you imagine the Nashville Tourism Board saying, hey guys,
- 54:25Speaker 2: I got a plan for to get people here. New Jacksonville.
- 54:28Speaker 1: We are New Jacksonville. That's what the Titans are right now.
- 54:31Speaker 1: That's not a great place to live in. Henry played
- 54:34Speaker 1: at Yulee High School down in Florida. And whenever they
- 54:37Speaker 1: played Jacksonville, he just, I mean, he would run all
- 54:40Speaker 1: over that field. This is like his homecoming. He's welcoming the,
- 54:45Speaker 1: there's not many people in the front office or in
- 54:47Speaker 1: that building anymore that he'll remember. But he's going to
- 54:50Speaker 1: make a statement. And also Lamar Jackson missed a practice
- 54:54Speaker 1: this week. So, I mean, he's going to play. But
- 54:57Speaker 1: maybe some rain involved as well.
- 54:59Speaker 2: Playing the quarterback. Snap it to him. Let Derrick Henry
- 55:01Speaker 2: play quarterback before Jackson's out the entire time. Probably throw
- 55:04Speaker 2: for a couple touchdowns, too.
- 55:07Speaker 1: I don't know what the final score's going to look like.
- 55:09Speaker 1: I'm just taking the under. Can't wait to hear what
- 55:14Speaker 1: Cam Ward won't say that he should say at the
- 55:16Speaker 1: podium afterwards. It's going to be a fun weekend, though, man.
- 55:21Speaker 1: I think Tennessee gets it done. I took the minus
- 55:23Speaker 1: one and a half, by the way, first quarter for
- 55:25Speaker 1: Tennessee against Auburn and the under, 55.
- 55:28Speaker 2: And a half. I think Second straight week, that noon
- 55:32Speaker 2: Eastern 11 a.m. game in the SEC is the most
- 55:35Speaker 2: compelling of the day. You had Tennessee-Texas last week. You
- 55:37Speaker 2: got Alabama-Mississippi State starting the day off right tomorrow. It's
- 55:41Speaker 2: going to be great. My lock is Northwestern winning the
- 55:45Speaker 2: new stadium tonight. I will know by Saturday morning if
- 55:48Speaker 2: I was correct or not, but go Wildcats tonight.
- 55:51Speaker 1: Enjoy the next round. Enjoy high school, football, college football, NFL.
- 55:54Speaker 1: We're back at it to recap with you on Monday
- 55:57Speaker 1: for Hunt and Withrow.
