- 1:51Speaker 5: of stuff in the community as well. That's what we're
- 1:54Speaker 5: going to focus on with those folks, with John and
- 1:58Speaker 5: Company coming up a little bit later on. Also are
- 2:00Speaker 5: a good friend. Millie Snyder is here as well. But
- 2:02Speaker 5: before we get to that, I want to bring to
- 2:04Speaker 5: Jeff Jenkins from the newsroom. Jeff, good morning. I know
- 2:07Speaker 5: the news department has been and everybody has been closely
- 2:10Speaker 5: watching this court case, this horrific case that happened in Cistonville.
- 2:17Speaker 5: Day two of the trial is coming up to where are.
- 2:20Speaker 6: We Yeah, so prosecution is presenting this case. This is
- 2:23Speaker 6: the Genie White Feather Donald Lance trial and that's a
- 2:26Speaker 6: Sistanville couple and they were arrested back in twenty thirteen
- 2:30Speaker 6: when there was a wellness check that was called in
- 2:34Speaker 6: and deputies found two of their adopted kids in a
- 2:38Speaker 6: shed that allegedly was locked. The White Feather and Lance
- 2:45Speaker 6: they disagree with that, and then there's been a lot
- 2:49Speaker 6: of investigation since then about their history. They lived in
- 2:52Speaker 6: the state of Washington and about how they adopted the
- 2:55Speaker 6: kids who The allegations are that they adopted the kids
- 2:57Speaker 6: for these are black children, opted them for human trafficking,
- 3:02Speaker 6: different things. That's the allegation. Now the defense says that
- 3:08Speaker 6: there's some explanation for some of this. There were these
- 3:11Speaker 6: children had passed, you know, problems before they were adopted
- 3:16Speaker 6: and Lance in White Feather struggled to you know, to
- 3:21Speaker 6: help them. I mean, they got them counseling in different things,
- 3:23Speaker 6: but they there was a there was a pretty consistent
- 3:26Speaker 6: struggle in in how to help them. Now, there was
- 3:29Speaker 6: testimony yesterday from about a half dozen neighbors out there
- 3:33Speaker 6: in the sistem Of area who say, who testify for
- 3:35Speaker 6: what they saw. They There was one who testified who
- 3:39Speaker 6: said what they saw looked like children following orders. Another
- 3:44Speaker 6: testified that these children never played. They were dressed in
- 3:48Speaker 6: the same clothes, you know, you know, in just almost
- 3:52Speaker 6: like it was slavery or you know, something of that nature,
- 3:56Speaker 6: some kind of forced labor. So right now it's the
- 4:01Speaker 6: beginning of the trials. You had opening statements, so each
- 4:03Speaker 6: kind of laid out their case, and the prosecution is
- 4:06Speaker 6: calling witnesses. So basically you're getting this is the prosecution story.
- 4:09Speaker 6: So these are the prosecution witnesses. So these are the ones.
- 4:12Speaker 6: So it's going to sound very heavy, heavily that this happened.
- 4:16Speaker 6: Then the defense will have an opportunity to present its case.
- 4:19Speaker 6: So this is this is going to last maybe as
- 4:22Speaker 6: long as a couple of weeks. It's possible we're in
- 4:25Speaker 6: the courtroom both morning and afternoon. We're staffing it with
- 4:28Speaker 6: two reporters, one in the morning, one in the afternoons.
- 4:30Speaker 6: You'll be hearing sound from that throughout the day and
- 4:34Speaker 6: the following morning from the sound from the afternoon and
- 4:36Speaker 6: the day before. So we'll continue to follow that big
- 4:39Speaker 6: trial in front of Judge Mary Clareakers and twelve member jury,
- 4:44Speaker 6: and so we'll continue to update it throughout the you know,
- 4:46Speaker 6: throughout however long the trial lasts.
- 4:48Speaker 5: All right, and I think you're going to make an
- 4:50Speaker 5: appearance on talk line later today. Possibly play a little
- 4:53Speaker 5: audio yeah from the court room, YESTERD Jeff. I appreciate
- 4:56Speaker 5: you being here, man, Thanks a loud. We'll talk again tomorrow.
- 4:58Speaker 5: It is nine twelve Island Chilling five Idyline brought to
- 5:01Speaker 5: you part by Morgan and Morgan. If you're injured, they
- 5:03Speaker 5: are America's largest injury law firm. Visit for the people
- 5:07Speaker 5: dot com.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Look he's here. It's Millie Snyder. How are you, Milly?
- 5:10Speaker 7: I'm wonderful. How are you?
- 5:11Speaker 3: They like in all this weather, this win away?
- 5:13Speaker 7: I like it and I want to make a public statement. Okay,
- 5:15Speaker 7: I am relinquishing my seven day free trials to live
- 5:19Speaker 7: in Alaska. Don't want it, you're out. I have it
- 5:22Speaker 7: right here in Charleston, West Virginia.
- 5:24Speaker 5: You know, they tell us that next week we could
- 5:28Speaker 5: see the coldest, second or third coldest temperatures in the history.
- 5:31Speaker 5: What numbers are you, Charleston, West Virginia number. Well, we're
- 5:35Speaker 5: talking about wind chill next week. We're talking about well
- 5:38Speaker 5: below zero, well below zero next week. That's what brain.
- 5:42Speaker 7: What worries me is that word well well below.
- 5:46Speaker 5: I mean we're looking at like high temperature on Monday,
- 5:49Speaker 5: seventeen seventeen, on Tuesday, and then this is next week, Wednesday,
- 5:54Speaker 5: twenty six. But the big deal will be early morning,
- 5:56Speaker 5: where it's going to be around seven degrees three degree
- 6:00Speaker 5: six degrees, but the windshiel well below well well below zero.
- 6:04Speaker 7: And contrary to what some people said, now that I retired,
- 6:07Speaker 7: I'm going to go to Florida. Not You're still here
- 6:10Speaker 7: to stay here and keep warm. That's the answer, all right.
- 6:13Speaker 5: So you know, the thing about the weather is merely
- 6:15Speaker 5: there's not a whole lot you can do about it.
- 6:17Speaker 7: This is true, and I believe, I don't know, some
- 6:20Speaker 7: great statesmen said that years and years ago. You can
- 6:23Speaker 7: talk about it, but there's not a thing you can
- 6:25Speaker 7: do about it. And as soon as I think of
- 6:26Speaker 7: his name, I will well.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Is there somebody was it? I don't know, Will Rogers,
- 6:30Speaker 3: Mark Twain one of.
- 6:30Speaker 5: Those people that said something to the effect everybody talks
- 6:33Speaker 5: about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.
- 6:35Speaker 7: I know. And that's where I'm coming from.
- 6:37Speaker 5: So it'll be warm before we know it. We'll be
- 6:40Speaker 5: out and about, we'll be at Regatto, we'll be at
- 6:42Speaker 5: the ballpark, we'll be doing all.
- 6:43Speaker 7: Then you give me an idea of when that's well,
- 6:46Speaker 7: I will tell you.
- 6:47Speaker 5: They say, the weather people say that February is possibly
- 6:53Speaker 5: going to be much much warmer than normal. That's what
- 6:56Speaker 5: they're saying. And I heard one of the weather people,
- 7:00Speaker 5: I think it was Brandon Stover this morning on CHS
- 7:02Speaker 5: Fox eleven, said he referred to next week as the
- 7:05Speaker 5: grand finale. Now, I think that may be a little
- 7:08Speaker 5: bit premature, but at least for a while, we'll take it.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Because we've had snow on the ground since like what
- 7:12Speaker 5: August it seems like out here, and I'm just over it.
- 7:17Speaker 5: I want to wear regular shoes again. I want to,
- 7:20Speaker 5: you know, not walk having to hold onto a building.
- 7:22Speaker 5: You know at my advanced age, I got to watch
- 7:25Speaker 5: this stuff.
- 7:26Speaker 7: Well, yeah, because you're getting older, I am getting older,
- 7:28Speaker 7: So I just want to throw that in.
- 7:31Speaker 3: A comment, right, So, what's snow with you?
- 7:33Speaker 5: Well, house quota and I'm doing air quotes here. How
- 7:37Speaker 5: is retirement coming for you? Because I will retirement.
- 7:41Speaker 7: It's not bad, but it's not all that it's cracked
- 7:43Speaker 7: up to be.
- 7:44Speaker 3: And I said that as joke, because you're never going
- 7:46Speaker 3: to retire.
- 7:46Speaker 7: You're always doing some absolutely and some of the wonderful
- 7:49Speaker 7: things that I'm doing, of course, are being here with you. Tomorrow,
- 7:53Speaker 7: I'm going to teach my Mediterranean group and by the way,
- 7:57Speaker 7: our social media is down right now. By we're going
- 8:00Speaker 7: to get that resurrected where we talk about Mediterranean. But
- 8:04Speaker 7: I just want people to know that there isn't a
- 8:06Speaker 7: finer way to eat. It's not about dieting, and the
- 8:11Speaker 7: Mediterranean concept has been around for centuries. I believe that
- 8:17Speaker 7: Jesus and the disciples ate that way because as far
- 8:19Speaker 7: as I know, they didn't have a particular supermarket to
- 8:22Speaker 7: go to. They ate fresh, clean food and that's what
- 8:27Speaker 7: Mediterranean is based on, food without chemicals, without preservatives, and
- 8:33Speaker 7: eating foods that have nothing in them except the item
- 8:38Speaker 7: that you're enjoying, and teaching people how to eat that way.
- 8:42Speaker 7: One of the discoveries is they eat better than they've
- 8:45Speaker 7: ever eaten. And that's what I want to help people.
- 8:48Speaker 7: Do you know? Right now and for the past several months,
- 8:52Speaker 7: maybe even a year, dieting is caught up again in
- 8:57Speaker 7: an artificial honeymoon, if you will, for the lack of
- 9:01Speaker 7: a better word, thinking that there is a great answer
- 9:05Speaker 7: to losing weight if you take drugs. Well, I can't
- 9:09Speaker 7: tell you how many times in my professional life I've
- 9:12Speaker 7: been down that road, not as a user, but as
- 9:16Speaker 7: someone who was always speaking against that method. And we
- 9:20Speaker 7: don't know the fallout, and the fallout is coming in pieces.
- 9:25Speaker 7: In fact, this afternoon, I'm going to be listening and
- 9:28Speaker 7: participating in a zoom call finding out about the downsides
- 9:32Speaker 7: of this drug called segma glutide.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Okay, and now that's a new one to me. I
- 9:36Speaker 3: hadn't heard of that one.
- 9:37Speaker 7: Well, that's the segma glutide is the ingredient GOV and
- 9:44Speaker 7: all those drugs.
- 9:45Speaker 3: But these are so popular, very much so, my goodness.
- 9:49Speaker 7: And who makes them popular the people because they hear
- 9:53Speaker 7: the word weight loss, and all they care abouout doing
- 9:56Speaker 7: any work. If you don't change your mind about your
- 9:59Speaker 7: eating habits and you use a drug, only your body
- 10:04Speaker 7: doesn't learn how to do an old thing differently.
- 10:06Speaker 5: And never in the history of things has there ever
- 10:09Speaker 5: been a drug that is going to offer long term
- 10:13Speaker 5: health benefits when it comes to weight loss. I mean,
- 10:17Speaker 5: you're going to drop some pounds, but at what cost?
- 10:21Speaker 7: You know? I have shared this story with many people
- 10:24Speaker 7: over the years, But when I was eleven years old,
- 10:28Speaker 7: dragged by the hand, I went to my first bariatric
- 10:31Speaker 7: doctor and at that age was taking forty nine diet
- 10:36Speaker 7: pills a week and I was only eleven. So I
- 10:40Speaker 7: lost some weight when I took the pills. But then
- 10:42Speaker 7: when the money wasn't available to restock the pillbox, guess
- 10:47Speaker 7: what happened. Not only did I gain that lost weight back,
- 10:51Speaker 7: but I gained even more. And that became the story
- 10:54Speaker 7: of my life until I became twenty four, turned twenty four,
- 11:01Speaker 7: and finally, against my will, I joined weight watchers, and
- 11:05Speaker 7: I really only joined to prove that it didn't work.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Guess what it worked.
- 11:10Speaker 7: Not only did it work, it made a career for you.
- 11:12Speaker 7: It created a career, a new life, and albeit that,
- 11:16Speaker 7: I am no longer the weight Watcher representative. And what
- 11:20Speaker 7: a lot of people don't know is I teach Mediterranean
- 11:23Speaker 7: now and I'm in year number eight because I started
- 11:27Speaker 7: that concept in twenty sixteen by making it available here
- 11:31Speaker 7: in Charleston.
- 11:32Speaker 5: All right, let's give me an average day on Mediterranean
- 11:36Speaker 5: get take me breakfast, lunch, dinner. Now, this is not
- 11:40Speaker 5: all you can eat, Okay, but I mean give me
- 11:42Speaker 5: an average did what if I'm on the if I'm
- 11:45Speaker 5: going on a Mediterranean plan, we don't call it diet
- 11:47Speaker 5: Mediterranean plan? What would I eat for breakfast? What would
- 11:52Speaker 5: I eat for lunch? What would ate for dinner? And
- 11:53Speaker 5: maybe a snack in between? If there is such a thing.
- 11:56Speaker 7: Oh, there are many, many such things. Ok And as
- 11:58Speaker 7: an example, about two sunnyside up eggs in a little
- 12:03Speaker 7: bit of olive oil in your pan, and alongside those eggs,
- 12:06Speaker 7: have about some sliced tomatoes, and then two pieces or
- 12:10Speaker 7: one piece, depending on your appetite, some whole grain bread.
- 12:15Speaker 7: And one of the brands that occurs to me is
- 12:17Speaker 7: Dave's Killer Bread. And I know you didn't have anything
- 12:20Speaker 7: to do.
- 12:20Speaker 3: With it, it's not me.
- 12:22Speaker 7: Lunch, we can have any number of vegetables, maybe one
- 12:25Speaker 7: or two, and you can have a tuna, salmon, you
- 12:29Speaker 7: could have any type of unprocessed cheese, and then also
- 12:34Speaker 7: more bread. But you also if you don't want bread,
- 12:37Speaker 7: you want to do something more filling. Did you know
- 12:42Speaker 7: Maybe you didn't, But on the Mediterranean concept, potatoes are
- 12:47Speaker 7: not considered anything other than a vegetable. And if you
- 12:51Speaker 7: had a potato with whatever you're choosing with your lunch,
- 12:56Speaker 7: and a fruit and maybe yogurt, and it can be
- 12:58Speaker 7: a yogurt, just to label and make sure that it's
- 13:02Speaker 7: not packed with added sugar. Sugar is not a friend,
- 13:06Speaker 7: not just on Mediterranean. Sugar is not a friend to
- 13:09Speaker 7: anyone's lifestyle. And then for the evening, it could be fish,
- 13:13Speaker 7: it could be one two vegetables, it could be another potato,
- 13:17Speaker 7: it could be whatever really tickles your fancy in terms
- 13:22Speaker 7: of a nice meal, a big salad and oil and
- 13:26Speaker 7: vinegar on that. And for the evening snack it could
- 13:29Speaker 7: be fruit. During the day and you asked about a snack, yeah,
- 13:33Speaker 7: how about a handful of nuts of your choosing, not
- 13:36Speaker 7: any that no nuts that are chocolate covered of course,
- 13:40Speaker 7: although I just wanted to throw that in because someone said, will.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Well about salt.
- 13:44Speaker 7: Oh, you know, salt has never been the problem on anything,
- 13:48Speaker 7: unless you yourself have a tendency to retain water. Okay,
- 13:54Speaker 7: but still salt, like anything, should be used according to taste.
- 13:58Speaker 7: Some people add salt before or they taste it. Yeah,
- 14:01Speaker 7: And the next time I'm on the show, I'll tell
- 14:03Speaker 7: you the JC Penny story, which is a wonderful thing
- 14:06Speaker 7: and it relates to salt.
- 14:07Speaker 3: All right, I got to get some You've got some
- 14:09Speaker 3: text here waiting on you, girl.
- 14:10Speaker 5: I do, yeah, Tex says. Tex says, I love fresh
- 14:13Speaker 5: fruit and some veggies. But besides inconvenience and are constantly
- 14:17Speaker 5: on the go daily lives. The true reality problem with
- 14:20Speaker 5: healthy eating is the cost.
- 14:22Speaker 7: Well, there's a cost in everything. There's also a cost
- 14:27Speaker 7: involved in having bad health, which is a result of
- 14:31Speaker 7: carrying too much weight and eating incorrectly. And we have
- 14:34Speaker 7: to be able to do some economy in our shopping.
- 14:39Speaker 7: But we do not have to buy processed foods in
- 14:43Speaker 7: order to be healthy. Now, you can do protein in
- 14:47Speaker 7: other forms than meat, fish, and poultry. We can do
- 14:51Speaker 7: that with any variety of beans, and we can certainly
- 14:55Speaker 7: season them with buoyon products, broth products. There are many
- 14:59Speaker 7: ways to make make a very filling meal. And also
- 15:02Speaker 7: you could saute beans after they're softened that some people
- 15:05Speaker 7: like to soak them overnight and then use them the
- 15:08Speaker 7: next day. Some people open a can. If the can
- 15:11Speaker 7: has the syrup in it, you want to drain that
- 15:13Speaker 7: off and then you can saute that in a little
- 15:15Speaker 7: bit of olive oil with some vegetables and you have
- 15:18Speaker 7: your protein right there.
- 15:20Speaker 5: Let me give final text here whore you let you go?
- 15:22Speaker 5: How do you feel about sweet potatoes?
- 15:24Speaker 3: Says the text.
- 15:24Speaker 7: I love sweet potatoes, okay as far as but that
- 15:28Speaker 7: that counts as a sweet, not a sweet, not a
- 15:33Speaker 7: sugar sweet, but it counts as a potato. It's not
- 15:36Speaker 7: like you can eat sweet potatoes the same way that
- 15:38Speaker 7: you could eat white potato.
- 15:39Speaker 5: But I'm gonna say that you probably should avoid a
- 15:41Speaker 5: lot of the toppings on them because a lot of people,
- 15:43Speaker 5: and I'll say this, but like my wife, for example,
- 15:46Speaker 5: loves sweet potatoes, but she likes them as more of
- 15:49Speaker 5: a dessert because because people put marshmallows on them and
- 15:52Speaker 5: they do all this other thing.
- 15:53Speaker 7: And also syrup and then and the list goes on
- 15:58Speaker 7: and on and on. You know in the that we
- 16:00Speaker 7: used to go out and get a baked potato. We
- 16:03Speaker 7: put so much stuff on it. We stopped eating potatoes
- 16:06Speaker 7: because people said they were fattening. But no one ever
- 16:08Speaker 7: blamed the butter, the sour cream, the cheese, the bacon bits.
- 16:13Speaker 7: But the potato is a friend.
- 16:14Speaker 3: All right, let me let me do this one. Then
- 16:16Speaker 3: I have to let you go because I got people
- 16:17Speaker 3: outside here are going down there.
- 16:19Speaker 7: It's okay.
- 16:19Speaker 3: This is from our good friend Amanda Baron. I mean
- 16:21Speaker 3: there listening to the show.

- 19:54Speaker 5: their radio commercials as well. It's Best Virginia. John Carruthers
- 19:58Speaker 5: is the owner. It joins us now, John, good morning,
- 20:00Speaker 5: Welcome to the show.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Hey, Hey Dave, good morning. Thanks for having us up here.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Thank you for being here.
- 20:04Speaker 5: I want to talk about the history of the company.
- 20:08Speaker 5: Tell us about Best Virginia.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Wow, Best Virginia. We started the company. I say we
- 20:13Speaker 4: started the company because it's a team, but I'm one
- 20:15Speaker 4: hundred percent owner of the company. I started the company
- 20:18Speaker 4: back in March of twenty twenty two. I've been in
- 20:21Speaker 4: the residential heating and cooling space since two thousand and
- 20:26Speaker 4: seven here locally. So love where we live, what we do,
- 20:30Speaker 4: and I just started the company. I've met a lot
- 20:32Speaker 4: of good tradesmen out there over the years, and I
- 20:36Speaker 4: just felt there was never the right place for eight players,
- 20:40Speaker 4: and so there was there was just not a place
- 20:43Speaker 4: that honestly cared about the team and honestly cared about
- 20:46Speaker 4: the customer, and so boom we exist. And now you know,
- 20:48Speaker 4: started with myself and three people crazy enough to follow me,
- 20:51Speaker 4: and now there's over sixty people on the team here
- 20:54Speaker 4: just to help and serve the community. So extremely grateful.
- 20:56Speaker 5: I'm going to imagine, Okay, I'm Captain obvious here that
- 21:00Speaker 5: you guys have been real busy over the last week
- 21:02Speaker 5: or two.
- 21:02Speaker 4: Here man exactly so. So Miss Bailey takes care of
- 21:06Speaker 4: our marketing and we kind of joke, you know, all
- 21:08Speaker 4: the time. The phones are blowing up, and so like
- 21:10Speaker 4: I tell the guys, I'm like, hey, don't blame me,
- 21:12Speaker 4: blame Bailey. She's connected with Bobby here, got us you know,
- 21:15Speaker 4: rolling on the radio and a lot of good stuff.
- 21:17Speaker 4: So it's been busy.
- 21:19Speaker 5: I can imagine. As a matter of fact, I was
- 21:21Speaker 5: selling Bobby. I live in Tayes Valley and the other morning,
- 21:23Speaker 5: as I was pulling out to get on Tay's Valley Road,
- 21:26Speaker 5: I saw one of your trucks and this was like,
- 21:28Speaker 5: this was Monday. I leve earlier on Monday, like six
- 21:31Speaker 5: twenty six, twenty five, and one of your trucks was
- 21:34Speaker 5: rolling out there. Near where Barnyard Barbecue is. I saw
- 21:37Speaker 5: one of one of the trucks over there, and so yeah,
- 21:40Speaker 5: I mean you guys are out and about what made
- 21:42Speaker 5: you want to go into this business, I mean as
- 21:44Speaker 5: a trade for you personally?
- 21:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I just love the space. So I
- 21:48Speaker 4: mean I went to Winfield High School and graduated in
- 21:51Speaker 4: ninety seven, then went to state college there in institute,
- 21:53Speaker 4: and so I jokingly say, I just ended up in
- 21:56Speaker 4: the trades just I enjoy construction, I enjoy people, and
- 22:00Speaker 4: then so it just it just there there. There's a
- 22:03Speaker 4: massive market here for us as a trade service company,
- 22:08Speaker 4: and we specialize in residential and so I just love
- 22:12Speaker 4: what we do, Dave. And there's so many great people
- 22:14Speaker 4: on our team, you know, out here in the community
- 22:16Speaker 4: that that want to be a part of a great
- 22:17Speaker 4: team too. So we can just serve.
- 22:20Speaker 5: Talk about getting people on your team, because I know
- 22:23Speaker 5: that across America we have we have suffered from not
- 22:27Speaker 5: being able to find enough people.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Are you currently looking for people? Are you doing okay?
- 22:32Speaker 3: I mean talk about finding people to fill these jobs.
- 22:36Speaker 4: That that's I think that's been a situation since you know,
- 22:40Speaker 4: day one with business and just just just how people are.
- 22:42Speaker 4: But we we've had a great time finding people, but
- 22:48Speaker 4: really people have kind of been attracted to us. So
- 22:52Speaker 4: so you know, with our marketing, I mean, we just
- 22:54Speaker 4: kind of tried to portray really who we are, and
- 22:55Speaker 4: so on social media we show who we are and
- 22:57Speaker 4: what we do. Like yesterday we had a company picnic, sorry,
- 23:00Speaker 4: company meeting, and we just try to share monthly with
- 23:03Speaker 4: everyone as a team what we do, and then our
- 23:07Speaker 4: marketing department shows that. And so I just think that
- 23:11Speaker 4: that there's a lot of good people out there just
- 23:14Speaker 4: wanting to go work for a team, for a company
- 23:17Speaker 4: to where they're going to be respected and appreciated. If
- 23:20Speaker 4: that even answers your question.
- 23:21Speaker 5: Well, I think though that and I could be wrong,
- 23:24Speaker 5: but I would think that with this industry that there's
- 23:27Speaker 5: always going to be jobs available. I mean, because I
- 23:29Speaker 5: don't know, AI can't do everything yet, and you're going
- 23:32Speaker 5: to have to have bodies to go to. So I
- 23:34Speaker 5: would say to a younger person or even an older person,
- 23:36Speaker 5: this might be an okay career to go into.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Yeah, what an awesome space for people to get into.
- 23:42Speaker 4: And so we are heavily involved in the local high schools,
- 23:44Speaker 4: the local trade schools. But yeah, we're trying to get
- 23:47Speaker 4: to the trade schools because once people are at the
- 23:49Speaker 4: what we're trying to get into the high schools because
- 23:51Speaker 4: once with the trade schools, they kind of see that
- 23:52Speaker 4: maybe that there is something over there. But we want
- 23:54Speaker 4: these kids in these high schools to better understand. I'm
- 23:57Speaker 4: not saying that that that the public school system didn't
- 24:01Speaker 4: do a great job back in the day and hasn't
- 24:03Speaker 4: done a great job of informing and educating kids of
- 24:06Speaker 4: their potential. But there's just massive opportunity here in the
- 24:10Speaker 4: trades for anyone. But just like us as a company,
- 24:13Speaker 4: sure we're a trades company, but you know what, like
- 24:15Speaker 4: we need it people. We need marketing people, we need
- 24:18Speaker 4: customer service reps. So like it's just not people that
- 24:21Speaker 4: need to turn the wrench, but yet we need people
- 24:23Speaker 4: on the operation side that are passionate also. So yeah,
- 24:27Speaker 4: we've got a great game plan. Actually, in twenty twenty six,
- 24:30Speaker 4: we're going to be building a training facility inside our
- 24:33Speaker 4: new facility here in Scott Depot that's fifteen thousand square foot,
- 24:37Speaker 4: so really bringing our own trade school in house. Then
- 24:41Speaker 4: we can grow our team, which is awesome.
- 24:43Speaker 5: That's good So I'm talking to John Carruthers, a Best
- 24:46Speaker 5: Virginia to Day Island showing five any lie brought to
- 24:48Speaker 5: you a part by Husband's Pizza this month it's your
- 24:50Speaker 5: favorite Hussans. Get a large at and inch pepperoni pizza
- 24:52Speaker 5: and any pizza bowl twenty two to ninety nine. Find
- 24:54Speaker 5: your nearest hustands for delivery, pickup or dining in at
- 24:57Speaker 5: husbands Pizza dot com. Since you've gotten into this field, John,
- 25:01Speaker 5: what kind of changes or what's the hot new Because
- 25:04Speaker 5: there's trends in every business. I mean as it comes
- 25:07Speaker 5: to and maybe not be the sexiest thing in the
- 25:09Speaker 5: world to talk about, but heat, even cooling, HVAC, whatever
- 25:12Speaker 5: you want to call it. What kind of trends have
- 25:14Speaker 5: you seen? What's the hottest new thing out there?
- 25:17Speaker 4: Energy efficiency and comfort are definitely things that that homeowners want,
- 25:22Speaker 4: and I think they want absolute peace of mind. So gosh,
- 25:26Speaker 4: is there anything trending, you know, like on TikTok in
- 25:28Speaker 4: our space? Probably not, but yet, Like I think what's
- 25:31Speaker 4: trending for us is just just five star experiences for customers.
- 25:34Speaker 4: I mean, customers love a five star experience, Customers want
- 25:38Speaker 4: to be heard, customers want to, you know, like when
- 25:40Speaker 4: they're in need, they want to make a phone call
- 25:42Speaker 4: and just have like a real live person that cares
- 25:46Speaker 4: answer the phone say Hey, how you doing, Dave? What
- 25:49Speaker 4: can I help you with today? So, man, we're just
- 25:52Speaker 4: trying to just deliver that five star experience, you know.
- 25:55Speaker 4: But then there are some awesome products out there that
- 25:58Speaker 4: can greatly help with people breathing better, paying less out
- 26:01Speaker 4: for utility bills with better you know, just more efficient
- 26:03Speaker 4: energy equipment and some things like that.
- 26:07Speaker 5: And I want to make sure before we close that
- 26:08Speaker 5: will get your contact information, your website, social media, your
- 26:12Speaker 5: phone number and so on and so forth.
- 26:13Speaker 3: But I want to talk about you.
- 26:15Speaker 5: Hear the term a lot of times John in the
- 26:16Speaker 5: world of business giving back to the community, but you
- 26:19Speaker 5: guys really take it from what I understand at the
- 26:21Speaker 5: next level Best Virginia with different things that you do
- 26:24Speaker 5: in the community.
- 26:25Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 26:26Speaker 4: So so that was kind of my vision really since
- 26:28Speaker 4: since the day one, since we started, Like I just
- 26:31Speaker 4: said that we were going to do things a little
- 26:33Speaker 4: bit differently, you know, with that servant mindset. And then
- 26:35Speaker 4: so we this is our third annual Christmas Blessing giveaway,
- 26:41Speaker 4: and so we haven't installed it yet, but we just
- 26:43Speaker 4: had had the winner of our third annual Christmas Blessing
- 26:45Speaker 4: got a brand new heating cooling system. Those strings attached.
- 26:48Speaker 4: We're just going to help you. And then so we
- 26:50Speaker 4: just had our annual Veterans give away, and so this
- 26:54Speaker 4: coming year in twenty twenty five, we're going to give
- 26:56Speaker 4: away six systems to local homeowners. So you have to
- 27:01Speaker 4: either live in you know, Putnam Cable or Keanall County,
- 27:03Speaker 4: which is our service area. There's really not many asterisks
- 27:06Speaker 4: or anything like that, but we just we're just here
- 27:08Speaker 4: to help.
- 27:09Speaker 3: How do people enter that?
- 27:10Speaker 4: I mean so easy, you can just go to Facebook.
- 27:12Speaker 4: So so so we're gonna promote this very easily on
- 27:16Speaker 4: our website, on some direct mail possibly, but really I'll
- 27:19Speaker 4: just say our website and or social media, so you
- 27:21Speaker 4: can just go right there to our website or to
- 27:23Speaker 4: social media, you know anytime. Obviously follow us on social
- 27:26Speaker 4: media and you can you know, see anything pop up
- 27:29Speaker 4: whenever we're having something. But it's it's very easy to
- 27:32Speaker 4: to enroll. And we love giving back, we love helping,
- 27:36Speaker 4: and so our team finds finds great gosh, just happiness,
- 27:41Speaker 4: you know, being a part of a team that's that's
- 27:42Speaker 4: working hard to help and give back and so and
- 27:46Speaker 4: then and then to kind of be known as those
- 27:47Speaker 4: people in that space. It's just it's just a beautiful thing.
- 27:50Speaker 5: Well, and as I said, you know, you're a local person,
- 27:53Speaker 5: and I know a lot of your employees, probably the
- 27:55Speaker 5: majority of them are all local people. So you know
- 27:58Speaker 5: you you live here, you live in the community. You're
- 28:00Speaker 5: Putnam County Gabbage Services, you said, Cabul and Kanawa Counties
- 28:03Speaker 5: as well.
- 28:04Speaker 3: So giving back to the community. I'm sure it's an
- 28:06Speaker 3: important part of your mission statement.
- 28:08Speaker 4: It is.
- 28:08Speaker 2: It is.
- 28:09Speaker 4: It's a beautiful feeling. But I mean it's just a
- 28:11Speaker 4: small thing, and we're just we're just a small fish
- 28:13Speaker 4: in this big pond. And so there's a lot of
- 28:15Speaker 4: other awesome people out there giving back to We're just
- 28:17Speaker 4: one little HVAC company here locally helping all right.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Before we let you go, final words from you sell
- 28:23Speaker 3: us on your company.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Jim oh Man. So really, we just have an awesome team.
- 28:27Speaker 4: We just try to hire the right people, train those people,
- 28:30Speaker 4: and then just just build systems all day every day
- 28:33Speaker 4: so that we can implement you know, that five star
- 28:35Speaker 4: experience to you the customer and then to our team,
- 28:38Speaker 4: because our team deserves a five star experience. Also me
- 28:40Speaker 4: on the operations and our operations team, like our customer
- 28:44Speaker 4: is our technicians. And so the better I treat those
- 28:46Speaker 4: people and just the the better you know, they're set up,
- 28:49Speaker 4: the better they can serve our customer, which is pretty awesome. So,
- 28:53Speaker 4: like one of the big things is I've got three daughters,
- 28:56Speaker 4: and so drug testing and background check that's uh we
- 29:02Speaker 4: we don't deviate off that. So everybody that's that's with
- 29:04Speaker 4: our company. Especially if you see somebody out there in
- 29:06Speaker 4: a van coming to your house, you know one they
- 29:10Speaker 4: have been drug tested in background checked. And actually we
- 29:13Speaker 4: all wear badges so you can just see like the face,
- 29:15Speaker 4: you know, like I joke and see a mug shot
- 29:17Speaker 4: and then then there's a little QR code on their day,
- 29:20Speaker 4: but you can scan and see a uh a real background.
- 29:22Speaker 5: I mean, because you people are opening up their house
- 29:24Speaker 5: to people, and in today's time that's not always that
- 29:28Speaker 5: could be an uneasy feeling. I'm letting this person just
- 29:30Speaker 5: come in my house, you know, oh yeah, or under
- 29:32Speaker 5: my house for that matter, whatever the case may be.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:35Speaker 8: Agree.
- 29:35Speaker 4: Plus plus those same people that are in your house
- 29:37Speaker 4: you know, from a from a man, from a from
- 29:39Speaker 4: a moral perspective, like those those same people are, Like
- 29:43Speaker 4: you need those people to be competent because we mess
- 29:45Speaker 4: with high voltage electricity. Sure, we mess with gas and
- 29:48Speaker 4: this time of the season, there's so many carbon monoxide
- 29:51Speaker 4: type issues that we come across and we see and
- 29:54Speaker 4: just our guys are trained. So it's not only you know,
- 29:57Speaker 4: like like they drive you know, like van and have
- 30:00Speaker 4: nice uniforms and this and that, like they look presentable. Like, no,
- 30:02Speaker 4: these guys are the cream of the crop. Like their
- 30:04Speaker 4: certifications from a technical perspective are better than they're just
- 30:08Speaker 4: what the industry requires. I'm not going to say we're
- 30:10Speaker 4: they're better than anyone. They just they're they're, you know,
- 30:13Speaker 4: what is required. So that's that's if I don't want
- 30:16Speaker 4: you in my house, I'm not putting you out there
- 30:18Speaker 4: in in our van sending you to your house because
- 30:20Speaker 4: I just don't think that's good. I think that's nearly malpractice.
- 30:23Speaker 4: But that's another story.
- 30:24Speaker 5: All right, we'll have you on again to talk about that,
- 30:27Speaker 5: all right, John, give us The best way to contact
- 30:29Speaker 5: Best Virginia is the name of the company, website, Facebook, telephone,

- 34:45Speaker 3: So we have a new governor, sir, we do, we do.
- 34:48Speaker 16: Went to the UH some of the inaugural festivities and
- 34:53Speaker 16: a lot of people with the evening stuff, and it
- 34:56Speaker 16: was good.
- 34:57Speaker 3: It's good, all right.
- 34:58Speaker 5: So yesterday just say this. I watched the press conference.
- 35:01Speaker 5: I wasn't intense, but I watched it. I watched the
- 35:03Speaker 5: live stream of the press conference yesterday, and I just
- 35:05Speaker 5: want to say this to Governor Patrick Morrissey. It was
- 35:09Speaker 5: very refreshing to have a governor and maybe it's just
- 35:13Speaker 5: different styles or whatever that went before the press that
- 35:18Speaker 5: answered questions that just basically and I again I wasn't there,
- 35:22Speaker 5: but I talked to people. Jeff Jenkins, i know, covered
- 35:24Speaker 5: it for us and opened for him, which is the
- 35:26Speaker 5: way press conferences are supposed to be, where you can
- 35:29Speaker 5: actually ask questions and you can have follow ups and
- 35:32Speaker 5: things of that nature. So I'm going to give Governor
- 35:35Speaker 5: Morrisey a big.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Probleis for that.
- 35:37Speaker 16: Look, Morsey is a policy guy, right, I mean he's
- 35:39Speaker 16: come from a you know, working on Capitol Hill and
- 35:43Speaker 16: you know, working in government stuff and government relations. Like
- 35:47Speaker 16: he's a policy guy. He likes that stuff, right, He's
- 35:50Speaker 16: he's like, he likes it. He he's going to get
- 35:53Speaker 16: down in the weeds obviously with some of those executive
- 35:56Speaker 16: orders that he put out, you know, or some a
- 35:59Speaker 16: lot of that's odd stroke stuff that I'm sure he's
- 36:01Speaker 16: going to get much deeper into detail as they move along.
- 36:06Speaker 16: But look, I mean a lot of this stuff it's
- 36:08Speaker 16: kind of weird too, right. It's like Morrissey's good at
- 36:10Speaker 16: the stuff that Justice wasn't, you know, or you know,
- 36:13Speaker 16: it's sort of like they're they're just they're a lot
- 36:15Speaker 16: different kind of guys, right, And I think that's what
- 36:17Speaker 16: you said, Yeah, And you know, Justice was really good
- 36:21Speaker 16: at the commerce and the messaging and the tourism and
- 36:26Speaker 16: you know, things that he knew about he was really
- 36:28Speaker 16: good at as governor, and things that he didn't care
- 36:32Speaker 16: about as much he didn't spend as much of his
- 36:36Speaker 16: time energy on right as governor. And I think that's
- 36:39Speaker 16: what you're seeing Morrissey trying to address here with some
- 36:43Speaker 16: of the government efficiencies. And we're going to review all
- 36:45Speaker 16: these contracts and you know, we're you know, we're going
- 36:50Speaker 16: to get down in the weeds on this stuff, which
- 36:53Speaker 16: honestly is just not something that we haven't had a
- 36:57Speaker 16: conservative governor come in and do that.
- 37:00Speaker 5: And let me just say this, I'm gonna jump in
- 37:01Speaker 5: here for one second I'll tell you the Governor Morrissey
- 37:04Speaker 5: is serious about this, because I had a conversation with
- 37:07Speaker 5: somebody under the Capitol Dome and traditionally the governor the
- 37:12Speaker 5: state of West Virginia has to sign a lot of papers,
- 37:15Speaker 5: you know, I mean that's just part of you.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Sign a whole lot of stuff.
- 37:18Speaker 5: And I was told by someone that Morrissey and you know,
- 37:23Speaker 5: basically they have a magic pen, so to speak, where
- 37:27Speaker 5: you know, other people can sign, you know, people in
- 37:29Speaker 5: the office can sign his name. It's it's actually his signature.
- 37:32Speaker 5: But so on Soth he's pretty much come out and said, no,
- 37:35Speaker 5: I'm not doing that, at least not right away now.
- 37:37Speaker 5: Once he gets into it, and you know, scheduling may
- 37:40Speaker 5: come into it, but he said, no, I want to
- 37:42Speaker 5: look at every pe, everything that comes across the office
- 37:45Speaker 5: of the governor. I want to look at myself. And
- 37:50Speaker 5: whether that's just hyperbole or whether he actually means.
- 37:52Speaker 3: That, I think. I like that. I like that.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Oh.
- 37:55Speaker 3: I think he's going to try to do it right
- 37:57Speaker 3: the best he can.
- 37:58Speaker 16: Yeah, I difn'tly think he's going to try to do it,
- 37:59Speaker 16: And whether he can do it is probably a different question.
- 38:02Speaker 16: But yeah, I mean, I certainly think he's going to
- 38:04Speaker 16: try to do it, you know, And a lot of
- 38:07Speaker 16: the stuff he talked about, right, he refers to this
- 38:09Speaker 16: backyard brawl, which is essentially just hey, what are other
- 38:14Speaker 16: states around us doing to and how do they deal
- 38:17Speaker 16: with businesses? And you know, how how do we put
- 38:19Speaker 16: West Virginia in a position to attract to be attractive
- 38:22Speaker 16: for business?
- 38:22Speaker 8: Right And and you.
- 38:25Speaker 16: Know, Governor Justice had this very active commerce department that
- 38:29Speaker 16: was out there cutting deals all that after what he did,
- 38:31Speaker 16: and I think Morrisey has this different approach of like, hey,
- 38:35Speaker 16: if there's something that we're doing wrong the week that
- 38:38Speaker 16: businesses keep asking us to have to get around, why
- 38:41Speaker 16: don't we get rid of that?
- 38:42Speaker 5: Right?
- 38:42Speaker 16: Like you know that you know, he talks about the
- 38:44Speaker 16: rules and regulations and things like that, and so I
- 38:46Speaker 16: think that's a worthwhile think. I don't think that's something
- 38:48Speaker 16: that's going to be able to happen tomorrow, right.
- 38:50Speaker 3: I don't think he said that.
- 38:51Speaker 16: Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, I mean that's what I'm saying.
- 38:54Speaker 16: I think of the things he talked about, there's a
- 38:56Speaker 16: several of them. There are things that can happen right away, right,
- 38:58Speaker 16: you know, some of the Hey, we're going to get
- 39:00Speaker 16: rid of the DEI stuff. We're going to get you know,
- 39:02Speaker 16: the regular the you know, hey, I want the legislator
- 39:06Speaker 16: to codify this religious exemption.
- 39:09Speaker 8: Vaccines.
- 39:10Speaker 16: You know, I think there's certain things that can happen
- 39:12Speaker 16: right away. I think there's other stuff that's going to
- 39:14Speaker 16: take time, right. I think that's your your background braw
- 39:17Speaker 16: business concept, you know, the spending decisions, the government efficiency stuff,
- 39:21Speaker 16: doing that top down review of rules and regulations. All
- 39:26Speaker 16: of that stuff needs done.
- 39:27Speaker 3: It's just stuff that's not.
- 39:28Speaker 16: Going to be done by you know, in ten days, right,
- 39:32Speaker 16: and so you know, he's getting started on that. I
- 39:35Speaker 16: think that's a good thing, you know, And I think
- 39:38Speaker 16: we're just gonna have to you know, I think you
- 39:39Speaker 16: and others will just have to follow up on that
- 39:41Speaker 16: stuff right to be like, hey, how's that going, right?
- 39:43Speaker 16: I mean yeah, yeah, Like it's not something that you're
- 39:46Speaker 16: going to say, well, hey, look forward to you to
- 39:48Speaker 16: report next week. But it's also going to be something
- 39:50Speaker 16: like oh, hey, you know, I'm not going to mention
- 39:52Speaker 16: it for a year.
- 39:53Speaker 5: Right right today, the island showing five any line bright
- 39:56Speaker 5: scheep part by your hometown baseball chief.
- 39:58Speaker 3: The Charleston Dirty Birds. It's winter time, but well.
- 40:00Speaker 5: Soon soon, hopefully we're gonna be playing baseball over at
- 40:03Speaker 5: gomart Ballpark. Check out the twenty twenty five Dirty Birds schedule,
- 40:07Speaker 5: Birds Merchant Moore at dirty Birds Baseball dot Com. I'm
- 40:09Speaker 5: gonna move on to Jim Justice. Governor Justice is now
- 40:12Speaker 5: Senator Justice. He and baby Dog were in Washington yesterday
- 40:18Speaker 5: walking down the aisle there with Senator Shelley Moore Capito.
- 40:20Speaker 5: She's kind of serving as the tour guide, if you will.
- 40:23Speaker 3: Of the of the governor.
- 40:24Speaker 5: And as I said, baby Dog, is there. Your thoughts
- 40:27Speaker 5: on Senator Senator Jim Justice.
- 40:30Speaker 16: Well, I think he's going to do really well because
- 40:34Speaker 16: he's going to be supportive of Donald Trump, right, I mean,
- 40:37Speaker 16: he's a he's friends with Donald Trump. He ran on Buddy,
- 40:41Speaker 16: you know, he switched parties because of his political parties
- 40:44Speaker 16: because of his friendship with Trump. And he's going to
- 40:48Speaker 16: He's going to d C to be and then a
- 40:50Speaker 16: supportive role of the Donald Trump America First agenda. And
- 40:55Speaker 16: guess what you know, West Virginians are more supportive of
- 40:57Speaker 16: that agenda than the in their state in the country.
- 40:59Speaker 8: I think it's going to I think.
- 41:00Speaker 3: That end of it's going to go well.
- 41:04Speaker 16: Justice is not somebody that likes to get down in
- 41:06Speaker 16: the weeds and is going to go over there and
- 41:08Speaker 16: serve on some committee for twenty years and become an
- 41:10Speaker 16: expert and you know, some singular aspect of government. I
- 41:16Speaker 16: think he's just going to go over there and you know,
- 41:19Speaker 16: he'll probably look for deals and things that he can
- 41:22Speaker 16: cut and things that he can do to bring stuff
- 41:24Speaker 16: back to West Virginia. And he's going to support Trump's agenda.
- 41:28Speaker 16: And there's so much I mean Trump's agenda, there's just
- 41:31Speaker 16: so many There's just so much low hanging fruit of
- 41:35Speaker 16: things that need to be done, whether it's the things
- 41:37Speaker 16: about the border, you know, getting us out of all
- 41:39Speaker 16: these foreign wars, you know, the whole government efficiency stuff.
- 41:42Speaker 16: I mean, there's so many things that can be done
- 41:46Speaker 16: right away.
- 41:46Speaker 8: I mean that the.
- 41:47Speaker 16: Energy policies of this outgoing administration were just absolutely horrendous,
- 41:53Speaker 16: and I think that Justice will be a big asset
- 41:55Speaker 16: and helping getting that stuff back on track. So I
- 41:58Speaker 16: think it's I think it's going to go well, but
- 42:01Speaker 16: I mainly think it's gonna go well because of Trump, right,
- 42:03Speaker 16: I mean, I think it's that that combination of those
- 42:06Speaker 16: two that that's gonna you know, they're gonna it's gonna
- 42:09Speaker 16: be the symbotic relationship where they're both gonna be a
- 42:11Speaker 16: be supportive of each other.
- 42:12Speaker 5: Did you watch any of the uh, the the hegsfth
- 42:15Speaker 5: stuff yesterday?
- 42:16Speaker 3: I didn't watch it like live.
- 42:18Speaker 5: I saw some like clips and stuff last night because
- 42:20Speaker 5: I had a text here about that.
- 42:22Speaker 3: Uh And I'm gonna read this texting and get your response.
- 42:24Speaker 3: Is how great? Says it's extra?
- 42:25Speaker 5: Did Pete Hegseth handle the despicable attempts that personally smeared
- 42:29Speaker 5: him by the likes of Tim Kane. Apparently Timmy another
- 42:31Speaker 5: Democrats forgot all about their beloved former Democrats senator in
- 42:34Speaker 5: two thousand and eight presidential candidate John Edwards, who had
- 42:37Speaker 5: a child with a campaign staffer while his wife Elizabeth
- 42:40Speaker 5: briefly fought and tragically lost her battle to breast cancer.
- 42:44Speaker 16: You know that stuff gets so personal over there, right,
- 42:47Speaker 16: I mean, and especially that confirmation things and things like that.
- 42:52Speaker 16: He obviously handled himself very well.
- 42:55Speaker 5: You can tell he's got some media background. And look,
- 42:58Speaker 5: I'll say this, I was not somebody who would a
- 43:00Speaker 5: huge fan of heg Seth.
- 43:01Speaker 3: I don't think he's the right gaffer throw.
- 43:03Speaker 5: However, when you remove yourself from that, yesterday he kicked
- 43:06Speaker 5: their butts yesterday in my opinion, I mean, I mean,
- 43:09Speaker 5: I think he made Elizabeth Warren look really really stupid.
- 43:12Speaker 16: Dan, Yes, well, they and others, they're the Democrats are
- 43:16Speaker 16: going to have to make a choice here, right, I mean,
- 43:18Speaker 16: they like right now, they're they went way, way, way
- 43:21Speaker 16: too far right. And now you've got this correction of
- 43:24Speaker 16: course with Trump and and sort of you know this move.
- 43:27Speaker 16: You know that they went so far left and so
- 43:30Speaker 16: far crazy into some of these really whack job liberal policies.
- 43:35Speaker 16: They're gonna have to make a decision about do they
- 43:37Speaker 16: get to be a normal party again?
- 43:39Speaker 8: Right?
- 43:39Speaker 16: Are they going to try to attract normal people? And
- 43:42Speaker 16: you keep thinking, like, well, surely that beat down they
- 43:45Speaker 16: got in November is gonna make them go, hey, we're
- 43:48Speaker 16: gonna have to like try to get new people to
- 43:50Speaker 16: come into the party, and we're gonna have to be
- 43:51Speaker 16: reasonable people. And you think that and you see some
- 43:55Speaker 16: of the talking heads, right, and you see some Democrat
- 43:57Speaker 16: consultants that will say it, but you don't see any
- 44:01Speaker 16: Democrat politicians doing it. Not no, no, they're doubling down
- 44:04Speaker 16: on craziness and anger.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Again.
- 44:07Speaker 5: As I've said a long time ago, they don't realize
- 44:10Speaker 5: why they lost twenty sixteen, you know, to begin with,
- 44:14Speaker 5: and it's like they aren't learning anything. And even a
- 44:18Speaker 5: lot of people that are, you know, political pundits that
- 44:21Speaker 5: tend to be more liberal Democrats are at the very
- 44:26Speaker 5: least independents are saying, guys, gals, you guys are doing
- 44:29Speaker 5: this all wrong. And they just they've got they're so
- 44:32Speaker 5: dug in, they just won't listen. We got to take

- 47:20Speaker 5: You're out with a press release and I read it
- 47:22Speaker 5: this morning about the state's ongoing battle against lawsuit abuse.
- 47:26Speaker 5: In it, you refer to West Virginia raising itself out

- 47:34Speaker 5: your opinion does West Virginia need to do well?
- 47:36Speaker 16: There's actually a lot still to do. I mean, you know,
- 47:38Speaker 16: West Virginia for decades had one of the worst legal
- 47:42Speaker 16: systems in the country, and you know, it was always
- 47:46Speaker 16: on the American Tort Reform Association's Judicial hellhole list. And finally,
- 47:50Speaker 16: you know, throughout the last ten fifteen years, you know,
- 47:54Speaker 16: won some state Supreme Court seats. You know, mor c
- 47:57Speaker 16: beat McGraw's and the Attorney general's race. You know, when
- 48:01Speaker 16: the Republicans took over the legislature, we passed dozens of
- 48:03Speaker 16: legal reform bills. I mean, we really did get this
- 48:06Speaker 16: way back on track at the point of the release
- 48:08Speaker 16: was to be like, hey, you know, at the end
- 48:10Speaker 16: of the year, the judicial hellhole list came on out
- 48:12Speaker 16: and we're not on it, which is great. You know,
- 48:15Speaker 16: we thank everybody for all the work they did to
- 48:17Speaker 16: get us here. But we still do have some problem
- 48:20Speaker 16: areas in the state, and we have a couple issues.
- 48:23Speaker 16: Medical monitoring is one of the biggest issues.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Now explain that.
- 48:26Speaker 16: So medical monitoring comes out of a state Supreme Court
- 48:29Speaker 16: decision that was twenty five years ago that essentially, in
- 48:33Speaker 16: West Virginia, you can sue somebody without any proof of injury.
- 48:37Speaker 16: You can say like, oh, hey, you know, I'm not
- 48:40Speaker 16: injured yet, but I may get sick, so I'm gonna
- 48:43Speaker 16: sue you, and you're gonna give me money, and that
- 48:44Speaker 16: money is going to pay for my medical monitoring to
- 48:47Speaker 16: test me to make sure I don't get sick. Right,
- 48:50Speaker 16: And we're one of only a handful of states that
- 48:54Speaker 16: does it that way. It's really something that's long overdue
- 48:57Speaker 16: for us to change and kind of get back in.
- 49:00Speaker 16: Another big problem that's kind of just come up over
- 49:02Speaker 16: the last couple of years is lawsuits against brim you know,
- 49:05Speaker 16: the Board of versu con Insurance Management sort of the
- 49:07Speaker 16: state insurance company. You know, we've had hundreds of millions
- 49:11Speaker 16: of dollars of payouts from that. And you know how
- 49:13Speaker 16: that is, right, It's like once that gets going and
- 49:16Speaker 16: the sharks gonna see blood, right, all of a sudden
- 49:18Speaker 16: they're on it. And now you're you know, heck now
- 49:20Speaker 16: and here in Kannawk County, I see advertisement, you know,
- 49:23Speaker 16: I see social media ads and stuff for those kind
- 49:25Speaker 16: of lawsuits all the time. So I think I think
- 49:27Speaker 16: there's a couple of things like that that still need
- 49:29Speaker 16: addressed and so and we have and we have several
- 49:33Speaker 16: other bills as well, and it's really not stuff to
- 49:36Speaker 16: like get us. You know, we're not trying to become
- 49:38Speaker 16: the number one state. We just need to still not
- 49:41Speaker 16: be in that bottom ten, right, Like how do we
- 49:43Speaker 16: just get to be an average state? And that's what
- 49:45Speaker 16: we're working on. And then of course, you know, Knawk County,
- 49:48Speaker 16: of all the circuit courts, you know, this is the
- 49:50Speaker 16: most liberal circuit court you know, in the cot in
- 49:53Speaker 16: the state, without question. I mean, you know, heck, you know,
- 49:56Speaker 16: the personal injury law, you're spend a million dollars to
- 49:59Speaker 16: reelect Jennifer to the Kanawuk County Circuit Court, which is
- 50:02Speaker 16: just an unheard of number for them to do. And
- 50:05Speaker 16: so I think that's a you know, I think there's
- 50:08Speaker 16: some problem areas of the state and there's still a
- 50:10Speaker 16: few issues that we need to address. And uh, I've
- 50:13Speaker 16: actually got a meeting later today to hopefully address some
- 50:16Speaker 16: of those issues with a legislative leader.
- 50:18Speaker 5: Dave violand show and find Viddie Linine Bright to you
- 50:20Speaker 5: apart by jute for the best and security systems for

- 50:29Speaker 5: had cancer? Uh, tex said, I saw Haig Seth dodge
- 50:32Speaker 5: and avoid questions and answer with non answers. But I
- 50:35Speaker 5: suppose that's a winning strategy for Republicans Texas. Speaking of
- 50:39Speaker 5: Elizabeth Warren, did you notice how both Folcahanas and duck
- 50:44Speaker 5: Bill Duckworth spoke during their questionings.
- 50:47Speaker 3: When you get so over emotional and.
- 50:49Speaker 5: Speak so fast that you have to try to catch
- 50:51Speaker 5: your breath, you've got a problem. This is personal to
- 50:55Speaker 5: these people, says a Texter. I will say this, and
- 50:58Speaker 5: you and I talked about doing to break this exchange
- 51:01Speaker 5: yesterday totally unrelated to this between Nancy Mace and Representative
- 51:06Speaker 5: Jasmine Crockett. Uh, that is the most Jerry Springer looking
- 51:10Speaker 5: thing I've ever seen into my entire life. I mean,
- 51:12Speaker 5: at one point, Nancy may says, we'll take this outside.
- 51:16Speaker 5: I mean, really, this is the best, and it and
- 51:18Speaker 5: it and it actually gets better at TJ, who's in
- 51:20Speaker 5: the studio with us right now, actually sent me a
- 51:23Speaker 5: text or I'm sorry a uh and I gotta do
- 51:25Speaker 5: this quick. A tweet from Nancy Mayes. It says, Jasmine,
- 51:29Speaker 5: ain't no way in hell you were made to take
- 51:32Speaker 5: on the likes of me. And I'll keep talking back
- 51:34Speaker 5: or you can just STFU and I don't need to
- 51:36Speaker 5: tell you what that stands. Shut the front door exactly
- 51:39Speaker 5: exactly and back and back. You're ass down.
- 51:42Speaker 3: That's the these are these are elected officials we're talking
- 51:45Speaker 3: about here, guys. I mean, you know, come on, give
- 51:48Speaker 3: me thirty seconds here, Greg.
- 51:50Speaker 16: Look, hopefully we can they can get back on track.
- 51:52Speaker 16: And you know, I think when Trump gets there, we
- 51:54Speaker 16: get a positive agenda and get everybody supporting it, we'll
- 51:57Speaker 16: be all.
- 51:57Speaker 5: Right, Greg Tamas, Citizens Against Lost Abused, DJ Meadows, what's
- 52:00Speaker 5: on talk Line?
