- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Conspiracy The Show, the world's most trusted conspiracy
- 0:16Speaker 1: theory podcast, with your hosts Adam Todd Brown and Olivia Hidar.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Hey, everybody, welcome to Conspiracy The Show. I'm your host,
- 0:37Speaker 2: Adam Todd Brown joining me as co host today. Ooh,
- 0:40Speaker 2: my favorite co host of all No co host, but
- 0:42Speaker 2: I do have a guest who is my co host
- 0:44Speaker 2: on another podcast and who has been on this podcast
- 0:48Speaker 2: a whole bunch of times. Jen Scott is here.
- 0:52Speaker 3: It's true. It's me. I feel I have to burp
- 0:54Speaker 3: in sneeze that whole time you were talking. I was
- 0:56Speaker 3: trying not to. And now they're both gone.
- 0:59Speaker 2: That's frustrated. Like the just like went back down inside
- 1:03Speaker 2: there are oh there, it is there, and.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Like I could have held it forever, but it if
- 1:09Speaker 3: since we talked about it, it could come out.
- 1:11Speaker 2: And I'm being an asshole. It's not just Jen Scott
- 1:13Speaker 2: who's here. Her dog Clarence is also joining us.
- 1:16Speaker 3: My dog Clarence is also here here. Clarence sniffed the microphone. Woo, okay,
- 1:21Speaker 3: that's the best.
- 1:22Speaker 2: You can do, Clarence. You tried your best.
- 1:25Speaker 3: He really was like a fuck you.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I look forward to your input on the pod. So, Jen,
- 1:33Speaker 2: how's it going? Oh bad, I hear you.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Twenty twenty three is kind of a cunt.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's not been great so far. I still
- 1:43Speaker 2: have an anesthesian needle in my jaw, for example.
- 1:46Speaker 3: That is true. You have entered a new year with
- 1:49Speaker 3: a needle in your jaw.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, went out like a lamb with a needle in
- 1:55Speaker 2: my jaw and came in like a lion with a
- 1:58Speaker 2: needle in my jaw.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Have you considered that your jaw is a haystack?
- 2:03Speaker 2: I wonder if I could just do without it.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Well, it is hard that they can't get it out.
- 2:09Speaker 3: It is giving needle in a haystack vibes.
- 2:12Speaker 2: It really is. Yeah, I am the proverbial haystack.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Yeah, you haystack in that's for sure.
- 2:21Speaker 2: So we're talking about a documentary today. This is sure.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Are This is a documentary that you recommended to me,
- 2:30Speaker 2: and then I looked into what it was about, and
- 2:34Speaker 2: I was like, oh, we should do a conspiracy episode
- 2:37Speaker 2: about that. And then oh boy, did things come out
- 2:41Speaker 2: about this documentary.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Filmmaker, we literally scheduled it and then the next day
- 2:47Speaker 3: it was like, oh fuck, should we still do this episode.
- 2:50Speaker 3: And my ass was like, well, I think it's a
- 2:52Speaker 3: really important conversation to have. I mean that kind of is.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I think it is kind of an important converse to
- 3:00Speaker 2: have in so many ways, in so many ways, some
- 3:04Speaker 2: uncomfortable ways.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Many uncomfortable ways.
- 3:08Speaker 2: In fact, Like I also I.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Have like an anecdotal story that I had met Andrew
- 3:14Speaker 3: Callahan on the street like the week before.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Oh really, yes, I knew nothing about him before this,
- 3:21Speaker 2: And we should tell people. I mean, I'm acting like
- 3:24Speaker 2: there's a lot of mystery as to what we're talking about.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Yeah, we're like, we will reveal.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Yeah, as if people don't download this podcast that has
- 3:31Speaker 2: a title that says in a description. But we're talking
- 3:35Speaker 2: about the HBO Max documentary This Place Rules, which.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Was originally supposed to be named America Takes a Shit
- 3:43Speaker 3: And HBO said, no.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Oh, this Place Rules is so much better of a title.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Oh my god. Yeah, that's that's way funnier. Yeah, that's
- 3:52Speaker 2: corporate America stepping in for the better. That's that's rare.
- 3:56Speaker 2: You don't see that happen. They did it a whole lot. Yeah,
- 3:58Speaker 2: it's made by a comedian. He's a comedian, right, he
- 4:02Speaker 2: calls himself a comedian. Does he do stand up comedy?
- 4:05Speaker 3: No, he doesn't, Okay, it's a journalist.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I've seen him described as a comedian. But really, well there,
- 4:12Speaker 2: I mean there is some just.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Because of Tim and Eric. Well, Tim and Eric produced it, so.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I mean probably that, But there is a comedic element
- 4:21Speaker 2: to the way he conducts interviews. I think the way
- 4:25Speaker 2: he interviews people is kind of fascinating because.
- 4:28Speaker 3: It is it's just like letting them talk.
- 4:31Speaker 2: It's that and I feel like he gets a lot
- 4:35Speaker 2: out of people by not reacting to what they're saying.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Yeah, he's very much just like nodding the interview.
- 4:42Speaker 2: That like really typifies that for me. In this documentary,
- 4:47Speaker 2: he's talking to the black Trump supporter who keeps doing
- 4:52Speaker 2: push ups. Remember that guy, Yes, And this guy's getting
- 4:57Speaker 2: so worked up, and at one point he just screams
- 4:59Speaker 2: like Trump is a god, and you can tell he's
- 5:02Speaker 2: expecting a reaction and he doesn't get it, and then
- 5:06Speaker 2: he just like calms down and keeps talking. So crazy
- 5:11Speaker 2: it is, and that's kind of what I mean. It's
- 5:14Speaker 2: not what sucks about the allegations about this guy, but
- 5:18Speaker 2: I want to look into his work more and like, I.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Mean, I've been watching him for so long, Like he
- 5:24Speaker 3: did All Gas No Breaks like forever ago, and there's
- 5:28Speaker 3: even some of the footage that's this is still from
- 5:30Speaker 3: All Gas No Breaks era before like that company pretty
- 5:33Speaker 3: much stole that brand name from him and replaced him,
- 5:37Speaker 3: which was like crazy because nobody's gonna be able to
- 5:39Speaker 3: get the same content out of people. His interview style
- 5:43Speaker 3: also reminds me of a selling technique that they teach
- 5:46Speaker 3: you in retail, where the way he just kind of
- 5:49Speaker 3: puts the microphone in someone's face, you feel like you
- 5:52Speaker 3: have to talk. Yeah, And there's two selling techniques that
- 5:55Speaker 3: remind me of this. I would they tell you to
- 5:58Speaker 3: just put something in somebody hands. Yes, when you're selling
- 6:02Speaker 3: it to them, just put it in their hands. They're
- 6:04Speaker 3: so much more likely to buy it the amount of
- 6:06Speaker 3: shit I have sold because I just put it in
- 6:08Speaker 3: someone's hand. Like it's crazy. People are like, oh, this
- 6:11Speaker 3: is mine now, Like your brain just goes, this is
- 6:13Speaker 3: my responsibility now. Yeah, you have to like critically think
- 6:17Speaker 3: more than you ever would have if you had never
- 6:19Speaker 3: held something. And I think that the microphone being put
- 6:21Speaker 3: in your face is the same general effect. And then
- 6:25Speaker 3: Also there's like a selling technique that I don't know
- 6:27Speaker 3: if me and my coworkers made it up or what,
- 6:30Speaker 3: but the microphone does the same thing as this, where
- 6:34Speaker 3: we would cross our arms, like hold your wrist in
- 6:37Speaker 3: front of you, with your arms down in front of
- 6:40Speaker 3: like just with your arms down, hold your arms in
- 6:42Speaker 3: front of you when you're talking, and then put them
- 6:44Speaker 3: behind you when it's the other person's turn to talk.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Oh wow, And that is like again like the same
- 6:50Speaker 3: like microphone, Like you're knowing what it's like a talking
- 6:53Speaker 3: stick kind of but with like physical interaction. But yeah,
- 6:57Speaker 3: that's a really good way to get somebody to know
- 7:00Speaker 3: when it's their turn to talk, is if you just
- 7:01Speaker 3: move your arms behind your back and look at them.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Yeah. And I mean speaking of retail techniques, I used
- 7:08Speaker 2: to sell furniture for a while, and one of the
- 7:12Speaker 2: things I learned selling furniture that I think is applicable
- 7:17Speaker 2: to how he interviews people is whoever talks last loses.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Like you're supposed to say, all right, so what do
- 7:26Speaker 2: you think? And then you don't say shit until they
- 7:29Speaker 2: talk again. Because if you open questions, yeah, if you
- 7:32Speaker 2: wait and jump in and go or like we have
- 7:35Speaker 2: a sale next week. They're gonna be like, all right, fine,
- 7:37Speaker 2: thank you for breaking that tension. I'll come in next week.
- 7:40Speaker 2: But you leave it to them to break that tension
- 7:44Speaker 2: and see if they want to disappoint you or not.
- 7:46Speaker 2: And yeah, it does seem like he employs a lot
- 7:50Speaker 2: of that in his interviews. But we talked about this
- 7:53Speaker 2: documentary a little bit on trend Pony and Jessica Singer
- 7:57Speaker 2: brought up that she could also see him I'm kind
- 8:00Speaker 2: of employing these tactics on women. He's trying to fuck yeah, victims,
- 8:05Speaker 2: and that's kind of what has come out about him.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Yeah, more than anything. The term sex pest has been
- 8:14Speaker 3: thrown around, but we'll get to that. I think that
- 8:17Speaker 3: it's worth talking about the documentary without the overhanging Andrew
- 8:22Speaker 3: being a fuck aspect.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the thing.
- 8:26Speaker 3: It's a really I think it's worth talking about with
- 8:28Speaker 3: the Andrew being a fuck aspects too, So.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Both of them. Yeah, and we should you know, we'll
- 8:33Speaker 2: talk about the documentary first, obviously, because that's what came
- 8:36Speaker 2: out first.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Chronology now Beat by beat, we're gonna have the perspective
- 8:40Speaker 3: of someone who knew about the documentary maker being a
- 8:43Speaker 3: fuck and someone who never knew y scene by scene.
- 8:49Speaker 2: We're gonna go through the whole thing. So I didn't
- 8:52Speaker 2: expect this to start with a dispute between Joker Gang
- 8:56Speaker 2: and Gum Gang. Me neither, and I was.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Like, who the fuck are these two?
- 9:02Speaker 2: That's it really just goes to show how huge the
- 9:07Speaker 2: Internet is, Like there's room for all of us. This
- 9:11Speaker 2: Joker Gang guy has like eighty thousand followers or something like,
- 9:15Speaker 2: and he's.
- 9:16Speaker 3: I think more than that. I think like eight hundred
- 9:18Speaker 3: thousand followers. Yeah, maybe she was like, my goal is
- 9:21Speaker 3: two million.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's right. And he's just like a fucking
- 9:25Speaker 2: Internet goofball.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Like yeah, like fart jokes the person.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Right, and then there's gum Gang, who is all of
- 9:34Speaker 2: that but also a Trump supporter.
- 9:36Speaker 3: M hmm.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Like I got the sense that Joker Gang was not
- 9:39Speaker 2: I think he was.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Oh wait, Joker Gang is not fart jokes person, Gumgang
- 9:43Speaker 3: is fart jokes the person. Joker Gang is joker pilled,
- 9:48Speaker 3: just like the joker right, right, right, But Florida and right, Florida.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I don't want to say it was Florida.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I think it was Florida.
- 9:55Speaker 3: If it's not Florida. I'm shocked.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Yeah, if it's not, they should they should go there. Yeah,
- 10:02Speaker 2: either way, it's just two dudes really comfortable throwing the
- 10:05Speaker 2: N word around.
- 10:07Speaker 3: So comfortable.
- 10:08Speaker 2: And they actually ask Andrew Callahan why he opened the
- 10:13Speaker 2: documentary with this footage, and he was like, I don't know.
- 10:17Speaker 2: It kind of like represents Trump supporters versus everyone else, like.
- 10:21Speaker 3: It's a fight, like it's a battle.
- 10:24Speaker 2: And I don't know if I agree with that, but
- 10:26Speaker 2: it did make for an interesting opening to the documentary.
- 10:30Speaker 3: I don't know if it was the best metaphor, but
- 10:33Speaker 3: if that's what he sees it as, that's interesting because
- 10:37Speaker 3: he was there.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and it is interesting footage. I don't know
- 10:42Speaker 2: if he's trying to show it as like these are
- 10:45Speaker 2: the two cartoonish extremes of each side, because if so,
- 10:49Speaker 2: I don't think he nailed that either.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Well, actually, I guess if I think about like the
- 10:54Speaker 3: core of Joker, it's very like in selly Dude vibes,
- 11:00Speaker 3: you know, and that that gives a lot of like
- 11:02Speaker 3: Q vibes also just like the real deep insanity, and
- 11:09Speaker 3: then like with Gum Gang, it's just like kind of
- 11:11Speaker 3: like stupidity and I think that that could really just
- 11:14Speaker 3: like encapsulate anyone else.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much.
- 11:19Speaker 3: So I do think it's like an alright thing. But
- 11:22Speaker 3: I had to really think about like their names and
- 11:24Speaker 3: what they stand for. But I do think that it's
- 11:27Speaker 3: interesting that they were able to show these guys eventually
- 11:30Speaker 3: being cordial with each other and no one else ever.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Is Yeah, they really did bridge that spoilers.
- 11:39Speaker 3: These two hugged after their fight.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but they left by Andrew like imagine that too. Like,
- 11:47Speaker 2: I don't know about you, but I had never heard
- 11:49Speaker 2: of Joker Gang or Gum Gang. No, never at all.
- 11:53Speaker 2: But they have enough of a following that they do
- 11:55Speaker 2: like a celebrity boxing match, and it seemed like a
- 11:58Speaker 2: lot of people showed up. Yeah, like more people than
- 12:02Speaker 2: if I just like booked a spur of the moment
- 12:04Speaker 2: comedy show.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Oh, more people than if both of us did. Yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 3: like a lot of people.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it was pretty depressing, you know, but that's that's entertainment, folks.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Also, we're not fighting people fights in Adam, Like, no
- 12:21Speaker 3: matter what, you're gonna go to a fight, Like that's
- 12:23Speaker 3: just a that's just a thing that's always been you know. Yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 3: if you hear somebody you know is gonna fight you
- 12:28Speaker 3: are there?
- 12:30Speaker 2: Yeah? Like if me and Jen booked a fight, people
- 12:33Speaker 2: would show up, including the police.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Imagine you and I like fucking trained to fight each other.
- 12:39Speaker 2: That would be amazing.
- 12:41Speaker 3: I have no idea who would wish?
- 12:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you'd have the reach.
- 12:46Speaker 3: I think I am like shockingly tall and like scrappy,
- 12:51Speaker 3: and I don't like I would like fucking try.
- 12:53Speaker 2: You know, man, I'm all old and shit.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Yeah, but like you're also a dude.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm also yeah, a big strong guy.
- 12:59Speaker 3: I don't know who would win? Okay, chat weigh.
- 13:01Speaker 2: In who wins and what charity do you want to
- 13:06Speaker 2: donate to to make it happen?
- 13:08Speaker 3: Who wins? And why? We will be accepting three page
- 13:13Speaker 3: essays anyways, So that's not even anything to do with
- 13:17Speaker 3: the documentary. No.
- 13:19Speaker 2: No. They show a bunch of clips of Andrew Callahan's
- 13:23Speaker 2: previous work and it looks interesting. I just I have
- 13:26Speaker 2: never taken any of it in. It seems like he
- 13:29Speaker 2: definitely was not that political at first. He was just
- 13:33Speaker 2: asking people questions on Bourbon Street after bar time. Yeah,
- 13:39Speaker 2: but then it turned into something else. It seems like,
- 13:42Speaker 2: and I guess got a little more political.
- 13:45Speaker 3: I think that he was just really okay to me,
- 13:50Speaker 3: Andrew was just seeking out people who were doing risk
- 13:54Speaker 3: taking behavior.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Kind of I think think the vibe that I got
- 14:01Speaker 3: from All Gas No Breaks was a level of hopelessness
- 14:06Speaker 3: across the board with everyone that like is shown through
- 14:11Speaker 3: whatever weird risk taking behavior people are are taking in
- 14:15Speaker 3: and just like their reasoning for that and like how
- 14:18Speaker 3: truly fucked up everybody is. So I think that's like
- 14:24Speaker 3: kind of what All Gas No Breaks was. And also
- 14:26Speaker 3: I think that he's just like very passionate about like
- 14:29Speaker 3: seeking out anything, Like he's just like a very curious person.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Was the vibe that I got and also seeking like
- 14:37Speaker 3: risk taking behavior.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he does, like he goes a lot of places.
- 14:43Speaker 2: This this has kind of Borat vibes to it, but
- 14:49Speaker 2: like yes, but like if Sasha Baron Cohen went out
- 14:53Speaker 2: and did Borat stuff as Sasha Baron Cohen instead.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Of right, just like a real character, because it's.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Like a lot of what made Borat so great was
- 15:05Speaker 2: the things that people were willing to do because there
- 15:09Speaker 2: was a camera and a microphone in their face. It
- 15:12Speaker 2: wasn't so much Sasha Baron Cohen, And it's kind of
- 15:16Speaker 2: the same thing here, Like just by being willing to
- 15:19Speaker 2: show up in some of these places, he gets footage
- 15:24Speaker 2: a lot of other people aren't gonna get, like because
- 15:26Speaker 2: he's not going in as like a newsman.
- 15:29Speaker 3: He's not like I feel like he was very committed
- 15:32Speaker 3: to maintaining neutrality in his interviews, where like he's not
- 15:37Speaker 3: giving any emotional response, and I think in that way,
- 15:41Speaker 3: you kind of like don't really get to know Andrew
- 15:45Speaker 3: throughout any of his work. It's not really ever about that.
- 15:48Speaker 3: And I think that a lot that's like what I
- 15:50Speaker 3: was drawn to is a lot of everything lately, even
- 15:53Speaker 3: fucking newscasters on regular ass channels, you're like seeing that
- 15:59Speaker 3: person's character pretty regularly because of hyperindividualism being rewarded right now.
- 16:05Speaker 3: And I just didn't see that from him. And I
- 16:08Speaker 3: don't know if that was for journalism or just you
- 16:12Speaker 3: know who he is or what, but it is definitely
- 16:17Speaker 3: something I was drawn to because I hadn't seen that
- 16:19Speaker 3: behavior before.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's an interesting approach because he looks like fucking
- 16:25Speaker 2: Napoleon Dynamite.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Yeah, he's even I also loved seeing somebody out there
- 16:30Speaker 3: just like with fucking acne, like looking like some dude.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's kind of like the only like comedic
- 16:37Speaker 2: thing about it. The rest of it, he's just kind
- 16:40Speaker 2: of letting everyone else provide.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't even think he's trying to look funny.
- 16:44Speaker 3: I think he was trying to look like not there,
- 16:47Speaker 3: Like he's wearing like a beige suit.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Like it's like I think he was trying his best
- 16:52Speaker 3: to blend, do you know what I mean? Like, even
- 16:55Speaker 3: though that wasn't like necessity, Like he was trying to
- 16:57Speaker 3: look like a journalist.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:01Speaker 2: So the premise of this documentary, it seems like it's
- 17:05Speaker 2: kind of along the same lines of his previous work.
- 17:08Speaker 2: It's like Man on the Street stuff, but it starts
- 17:11Speaker 2: with him kind of like digging into QAnon and talking
- 17:16Speaker 2: to QAnon believers, and it eventually escalates to being more
- 17:21Speaker 2: about the January sixth insurrection, even though he wasn't at that,
- 17:26Speaker 2: Like I expected he would have footage from that, but.
- 17:31Speaker 3: They made it seem like that. But then I realized
- 17:33Speaker 3: that even if he was at that, the implications of
- 17:36Speaker 3: him being at that would not be something that they
- 17:39Speaker 3: could do with the movie.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Yeah, what I wondered was what if he was.
- 17:44Speaker 3: There, Like, I think he definitely was, would it.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Yeah, but he said he had COVID.
- 17:49Speaker 3: That's even more reason that I think he probably was there.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know, because I just.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Why why'd they show us all that footage of him
- 17:57Speaker 3: in bed?
- 17:58Speaker 2: I wonder if he would have I was like, sure,
- 18:01Speaker 2: I wonder if he would have gone inside.
- 18:03Speaker 3: If he was there, he would have tried.
- 18:06Speaker 2: So that's why I think he wasn't there, because it's
- 18:08Speaker 2: not like you're not gonna recognize him on all those cameras,
- 18:12Speaker 2: Like that's how most of the people got arrested. Is
- 18:15Speaker 2: there were so much It's the fucking United States Capital.
- 18:19Speaker 2: There are so many cameras around.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Maybe he wasn't there. I feel like probably somebody from
- 18:24Speaker 3: this production team was there.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sure.
- 18:27Speaker 3: But also I don't think that when Tim and Eric
- 18:32Speaker 3: got on board with making a movie with him, that
- 18:34Speaker 3: they knew what the movie was going to be. Yeah,
- 18:37Speaker 3: And I don't think that the like story aspect, or
- 18:42Speaker 3: the seriousness of or the weight of the movie became
- 18:48Speaker 3: what it was until down the road. Because he has
- 18:51Speaker 3: so much footage, and a lot of it is not
- 18:54Speaker 3: political or anything to do with any of that shit
- 18:56Speaker 3: at all. A lot of it is like festivals and stuff. Yeah,
- 18:59Speaker 3: and so so I don't think that they had any
- 19:02Speaker 3: real direction until they realized they had all of this
- 19:05Speaker 3: documentation of people who were a part of the insurrection.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Right, and so one of the first people he talks
- 19:13Speaker 2: to is eventually becomes one of the most important figures
- 19:18Speaker 2: in this documentary. He's a guy named Dave Todoskini, the
- 19:22Speaker 2: Inglorious Patriot. This is he is like stereotypical QAnon Trump.
- 19:30Speaker 3: So this motherfucker is a cartoon.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Yeah. He looks like he's probably in his sixties or seventies,
- 19:37Speaker 2: and just every QAnon Democrats are eating babies conspiracy theory
- 19:44Speaker 2: you can think of, this guy is into it. He
- 19:47Speaker 2: says that Democrats have been sacrificing children to Moloch. He says,
- 19:52Speaker 2: either these people get arrested or there's going to be
- 19:54Speaker 2: another revolutionary.
- 19:56Speaker 3: War, Okay, And.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Like, there is a really brilliant piece of foreshadowing in
- 20:05Speaker 2: this moment because we meet Dave TODOSKINI, we get to
- 20:09Speaker 2: hear about all of his wacky beliefs, and then they
- 20:13Speaker 2: it's just kind of offhandedly mentioned that, oh yeah, he's
- 20:16Speaker 2: not allowed to leave the state. Yeah, sus And then
- 20:21Speaker 2: they just move on to another of his friends who
- 20:25Speaker 2: is somewhere in Washington, DC, and it's like, oh, that's interesting,
- 20:28Speaker 2: but you don't think anything about it. It like moves
- 20:31Speaker 2: on so quick.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it just goes so quick that you're like, all right,
- 20:34Speaker 3: that guy was crazy.
- 20:35Speaker 2: And uh that comes back, we find out why Dave
- 20:40Speaker 2: isn't allowed to leave the state. It's pretty fucking fascinating.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Uh, Like I do feel like that was a really good,
- 20:48Speaker 3: not good, but like fascinating part of the plot. Yeah,
- 20:53Speaker 3: the especially for everything that happens after.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yes, And it blows my mind and that people like
- 21:02Speaker 2: Dave TODOSKINI like all of these wacky beliefs of his
- 21:06Speaker 2: he's getting from the Internet, Like this dude is just
- 21:11Speaker 2: chronically online, but somehow also is so Internet dumb that
- 21:18Speaker 2: he doesn't realize anyone can look up his past and
- 21:22Speaker 2: find out the things he's done.
- 21:26Speaker 3: And call him out of Secker.
- 21:28Speaker 2: And he's willing to go on this fucking documentary and
- 21:32Speaker 2: spout this shit, just oblivious to the fact that it
- 21:35Speaker 2: could be turned around on him at the end, which
- 21:38Speaker 2: is what happens. And we'll get there.
- 21:40Speaker 3: My random question to you, because this is the Conspiracy Show,
- 21:44Speaker 3: sure is do you think that people have always believed
- 21:49Speaker 3: the insane innate amount of conspiracy stuff that there is
- 21:53Speaker 3: and there just wasn't a way to share it, or
- 21:55Speaker 3: do we think that it has gotten insanely worse with
- 21:58Speaker 3: the Internet and there's just so much more or ability
- 22:01Speaker 3: to spread. Because I can remember like a lot of
- 22:03Speaker 3: like myths and weird conspiracy and stuff that you like
- 22:07Speaker 3: talked about and things when you're like when I was
- 22:10Speaker 3: a kid, but like I still had the internet, the
- 22:13Speaker 3: Internet was still developing, so I don't really remember a
- 22:15Speaker 3: time before that as far as like conspiracy theories go,
- 22:18Speaker 3: And like the conspiracy theories I'm thinking of are like
- 22:21Speaker 3: weird perv kid ones.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I know it sounds weird to say, but I am
- 22:26Speaker 2: old enough to remember that conspiracy theories didn't really become
- 22:33Speaker 2: a taboo thing until the Internet.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Like it seems like everything else was just kind of
- 22:38Speaker 3: like an urban legend before that.
- 22:40Speaker 2: No, not just that it was just kind of accepted
- 22:43Speaker 2: as another viewpoint and no one really got all that
- 22:47Speaker 2: mad about it. Like conspiracy theories seem like they have
- 22:50Speaker 2: gotten more prevalent with the Internet and I would argue
- 22:53Speaker 2: they have not, because I remember a time when you
- 22:57Speaker 2: could go into Barnes and Noble and they would have
- 23:01Speaker 2: like one of those you know, rotating book rack things
- 23:06Speaker 2: that was full of paperback books that were like one
- 23:09Speaker 2: hundred and fifty pages, really short, and they were just
- 23:11Speaker 2: like cliff notes on various conspiracy theories. I had one
- 23:15Speaker 2: about Malcolm X, I had one about Martin Luther King Junior,
- 23:19Speaker 2: and it was just really straightforward, like here is what
- 23:23Speaker 2: the alternative version of history claims happened to Malcolm X
- 23:27Speaker 2: or JFK. And it was just like kind of commonplace.
- 23:33Speaker 2: And then it wasn't until the Internet that conspiracy theories
- 23:38Speaker 2: not only like took on this stink of being a
- 23:43Speaker 2: fringe thing, but as it carried on, it became a
- 23:47Speaker 2: fringe right wing thing, where like if you say the
- 23:50Speaker 2: word conspiracy theory, you are a right winger now, like
- 23:53Speaker 2: it was that was never, ever, ever, ever the case
- 23:57Speaker 2: before the Internet.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Well, I feel like that is so damaging. Also, I
- 24:02Speaker 3: think that we've talked about this potentially a lot of
- 24:04Speaker 3: times that like a conspiracy is not necessarily something that
- 24:10Speaker 3: is always outlandishly untrue, and I think that that has
- 24:13Speaker 3: been labeled that way because of the Right and because
- 24:16Speaker 3: of Q and like how far gone the internet rabbit
- 24:19Speaker 3: hole is. But like there are conspiracies frequently that are true.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Well, I mean, all a conspiracy really is is you know,
- 24:28Speaker 2: two or more people working together toward a goal, but
- 24:33Speaker 2: telling people the goal is something else, either that or
- 24:36Speaker 2: just not wanting to people people to know they're working
- 24:39Speaker 2: toward that goal. Like the war in Iraq was a conspiracy,
- 24:43Speaker 2: Like we didn't Everyone knows we didn't go because of
- 24:46Speaker 2: weapons of mass destruction now and it's pretty commonplace to
- 24:50Speaker 2: question that. And that's the example I always use, Like
- 24:54Speaker 2: most people are confident that there were no weapons of
- 24:56Speaker 2: mass destruction, and it's like, well, then what's the difference,
- 25:00Speaker 2: Like that's a conspiracy theory too. Like conspiracy theories at
- 25:04Speaker 2: the end of the day, in a lot of cases
- 25:07Speaker 2: just boiled down to questioning the government's official versions of events.
- 25:12Speaker 3: As you should.
- 25:13Speaker 2: And this government has given us nothing but decades of
- 25:18Speaker 2: historical proof that we should always question their motives and
- 25:23Speaker 2: what they're up to. And I think labeling con government
- 25:27Speaker 2: dissent as conspiracy theories is one of the biggest fucking psyops.
- 25:33Speaker 2: This government oh pulled off. Yeah, because now it really
- 25:39Speaker 2: we really have reached a point where if you question
- 25:43Speaker 2: the official government version of events, you're labeled a conspiracy theorist.
- 25:47Speaker 2: And that's nuts, that's absolutely insane.
- 25:51Speaker 3: But some weird shit is going on on TikTok about
- 25:55Speaker 3: this kind of stuff. But I think that's a conversation
- 25:58Speaker 3: for another day.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Yeah, we should get back to this documentary.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Yeah, anyways, anyways, it's so easy to like get into
- 26:04Speaker 3: that though, because I feel like people stay blaming the Internet,
- 26:11Speaker 3: and I feel like a lot of what this does
- 26:13Speaker 3: is show you that there's people that don't even fucking
- 26:16Speaker 3: require that to be at this level.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Yeah, this was all spreading before the Internet, Like.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Yeah, and I feel like this guy, that fucking Dave
- 26:26Speaker 3: guy in particular, this guy would have found a way
- 26:29Speaker 3: to feel like this without the Internet. He's not even
- 26:31Speaker 3: good at the Internet.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. I love the clip of Andrew traveling
- 26:37Speaker 2: to I think he goes, Yeah, he goes to d
- 26:39Speaker 2: C and talks to a friend of Dave's and this
- 26:42Speaker 2: guy is just going on and on and on about globalists.
- 26:48Speaker 2: And Andrew just goes, who are the globalists? And the
- 26:52Speaker 2: guy's like, oh, you know, like the the globalists and he's.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Like the classic globalists.
- 26:59Speaker 2: He's like, can you any globalist? And the guy's like nah,
- 27:03Speaker 2: but you know, it's the.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Global game names.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Like it's so like it's funny, but it's also sad.
- 27:11Speaker 3: It's fucked up because everybody tries to have a group
- 27:15Speaker 3: of people that they escape goat and who are the globalists?
- 27:19Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 27:20Speaker 3: What does that mean? Yeah?
- 27:22Speaker 2: The globalist? It's the globalist?
- 27:25Speaker 3: Uh what is a globalist?
- 27:26Speaker 2: I will say the Biden supporter that he briefly shows
- 27:30Speaker 2: does come off as just kind of equally crazy.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Yes, I love that. Yeah, that's there's wait, which which
- 27:37Speaker 3: person was that? Oh? Yes, the one? Oh she is
- 27:41Speaker 3: more crazy maybe.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Yeah, she's like all dead in the eyes. And she
- 27:45Speaker 2: goes Trump is going to go to prison in twenty
- 27:47Speaker 2: twenty two and he's gonna get raped.
- 27:49Speaker 3: She sure does. And it's like, speaking of that's what
- 27:52Speaker 3: you've put your energy towards, babe.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of things. For another podcast, we should probably
- 27:58Speaker 2: talk about prison rape Joe someday.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Yeah, would we stop with that? It's everything phobic.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I used to do a bit on stage about it.
- 28:09Speaker 2: But like, especially when you consider the demographics of our
- 28:12Speaker 2: prison population, Like there's nothing funny about rape as retribution
- 28:18Speaker 2: every who, Like in the United States, if we're talking
- 28:22Speaker 2: our prison population, like that is a victimized population already,
- 28:27Speaker 2: and we just yep, yuck it up about people getting
- 28:31Speaker 2: raped in prison.
- 28:31Speaker 3: I'm getting Yes, absolutely terrible things happening to people who
- 28:36Speaker 3: terrible things have already happened to just hilarious to us.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that shit is not fucking funny.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Also, like the fact that none of us can go
- 28:45Speaker 3: a day without dropping soap and thinking about rape, that's
- 28:48Speaker 3: fucking annoying.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, like not cool. And I'm still a bar
- 28:53Speaker 2: soap guy. So it's a actual problem America. So oh man,
- 29:00Speaker 2: the Trump supporter who said she was a teacher in
- 29:03Speaker 2: the hood.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Oh god, this poor bitch. Damn she really is trying
- 29:10Speaker 3: to be a good person, is what's fucked up about
- 29:13Speaker 3: all of it? Yeah, she she just has no idea
- 29:17Speaker 3: what that looks like.
- 29:18Speaker 2: She raps. She says that it was the best way to,
- 29:23Speaker 2: you know, get across.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Her students must hate her so much to.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Her students because she was in the hood. So of
- 29:30Speaker 2: course you have to rap to kids in the hood
- 29:33Speaker 2: to get there.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Said African Americans so many times.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's so oh my, like it's the most
- 29:41Speaker 2: racist shit. And she's crying so hard to come off
- 29:46Speaker 2: as like, see, I get it, I'm hip. I know
- 29:48Speaker 2: you have to rap when you're talking to black people.
- 29:52Speaker 3: She seriously was like, I just get along better with
- 29:55Speaker 3: African American people. And I'm like, I don't know.
- 29:58Speaker 2: That you do, baby, I bet you don't.
- 30:02Speaker 3: They all make fun of you as soon as you
- 30:03Speaker 3: leave the room. No, she absolutely thinks she's doing the
- 30:06Speaker 3: lord's work and no one likes her.
- 30:09Speaker 2: She's so sad, a huge piece of shit.
- 30:12Speaker 3: But like just garbage, and I bet you she's never
- 30:14Speaker 3: listened to anybody.
- 30:16Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you my least favorite person in this documentary,
- 30:19Speaker 2: which is saying a lot because Alex Jones is in it,
- 30:22Speaker 2: is Edward X young erotic horror film actor. He's the
- 30:27Speaker 2: guy who was wearing the camouflage MAGA hat. But he
- 30:30Speaker 2: talks like an intellectual. And I don't know how any
- 30:34Speaker 2: American can see this election that happened and not see
- 30:39Speaker 2: it is fraudulent. It's like, shut the fuck up with
- 30:42Speaker 2: that accent. Where are you from? No one talks like
- 30:45Speaker 2: that in the United states, you're trying to sound smarter
- 30:48Speaker 2: than everyone else, and you're a dipshit.
- 30:50Speaker 3: The Transatlantic accent.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, I don't know why people don't see that
- 30:55Speaker 2: this was frauds. He Hey, sweetie, got fucking fuck sucked.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Yeah, He's a nightmare.
- 31:02Speaker 2: And all the footage of him arguing with people was
- 31:05Speaker 2: fucking exhausting.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Is bad.
- 31:07Speaker 2: I did like the million Mega March. I didn't like
- 31:10Speaker 2: the million Mega March, but I did like the footage
- 31:13Speaker 2: of it in this documentary. And all the Alex Jones
- 31:16Speaker 2: stuff is amazing.
- 31:18Speaker 3: The Alex Jones stuff, I like don't even know how
- 31:20Speaker 3: he was able to get so chummy with him like that.
- 31:23Speaker 3: It's crazy. Yeah, Like I'm like, damn, he like really
- 31:27Speaker 3: got in with Alex.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Yeah, And I know people at home are like, oh,
- 31:30Speaker 2: what do you mean did they go to a Perkins
- 31:32Speaker 2: and have lunch? No, there's a point where they're bench
- 31:35Speaker 2: pressing and pouring alcohol into each other's mouths while they're
- 31:38Speaker 2: doing it.
- 31:40Speaker 3: And you know, that was one hundred percent Alex Jones's idea.
- 31:43Speaker 3: So like, what is his day to day?
- 31:45Speaker 2: Yeah, he was, he was having a day that day.
- 31:49Speaker 3: Clearly he looked like that, like was just a fantasy.
- 31:52Speaker 3: He lives out all the time, like he was just
- 31:55Speaker 3: like this is just how I work.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Out, just another day interviewing journalists.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Fuck man like Alex Jones. I would love to never
- 32:03Speaker 3: meet him.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I still I got to sit someone down and
- 32:08Speaker 2: run my Bill Hicks really is Alex Jones conspiracy.
- 32:13Speaker 3: I got chills.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Here's the thing. And everyone wants to laugh this part off.
- 32:19Speaker 2: But Bill Hicks died and a year later Alex Jones,
- 32:24Speaker 2: a guy who looks a shit ton like him and
- 32:27Speaker 2: has the exact same voice as him, ends up on
- 32:31Speaker 2: the same production company as Bill Hicks. And then just
- 32:36Speaker 2: and Bill Hicks was political as.
- 32:39Speaker 3: I know I was. I mean I have listened to
- 32:41Speaker 3: everything Bill Hicks front to back, come.
- 32:44Speaker 2: On, and he hated Hillary Clinton.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean he hated a lot of stuff and
- 32:49Speaker 3: wanted to just see it all burn and that would
- 32:52Speaker 3: be the way to do it.
- 32:53Speaker 2: And he died of cancer, uh huh, Which I mean
- 32:58Speaker 2: that's a good way to just kind of like fade
- 33:00Speaker 2: from obscurity as opposed to like he wasn't like shot
- 33:03Speaker 2: on public television or anything like just you can fake down.
- 33:08Speaker 3: It's really good theory, Like he could have just really
- 33:10Speaker 3: fucking bulked up, like gotten heavy, changed like his face
- 33:15Speaker 3: a little and like got botox, legit.
- 33:19Speaker 2: And also we're really getting off into other shit. I've
- 33:22Speaker 2: mentioned this before, but.
- 33:23Speaker 3: I have not heard this theory.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Well, we've talked a little bit about the Internet and
- 33:28Speaker 2: conspiracy theories, and I've always like, regardless of the Bill
- 33:32Speaker 2: Hicks stuff, my opinion about Alex Jones has always been
- 33:37Speaker 2: that when the Internet started, the government knew they were
- 33:41Speaker 2: going to have to do something about how information, like
- 33:44Speaker 2: anti government information, was gonna spread on the Internet. And
- 33:48Speaker 2: so do you just crack down like China, which is
- 33:52Speaker 2: completely anesthetical to what the United States is supposed to be.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Do you like kill people when they get too close
- 33:59Speaker 2: to real information on the Internet like we were doing
- 34:02Speaker 2: in the sixties, or do you get your own personality
- 34:07Speaker 2: out there in the conspiracy theory circuit to where anything
- 34:12Speaker 2: that goes through that one person, people are automatically gonna
- 34:15Speaker 2: discredit it. So Alex Jones could talk about some real
- 34:20Speaker 2: government shit that is happening, but because it's tied to
- 34:23Speaker 2: Alex Jones, most people are just gonna write it off
- 34:26Speaker 2: as a conspiracy theory. That's the easiest way to handle
- 34:29Speaker 2: it is to just be able to discredit it when
- 34:32Speaker 2: it hits that circuit. But you're gonna need a really
- 34:35Speaker 2: strong personality to fucking pull that off. You can't just
- 34:40Speaker 2: like tap someone in hope for the best. So the
- 34:42Speaker 2: government there could very well have gone to Bill Hicks
- 34:46Speaker 2: and been like, look, everything you hate about the Clintons
- 34:49Speaker 2: is right, and we need your fucking help.
- 34:52Speaker 3: It's not impossible, it's very possible. And I don't know
- 34:57Speaker 3: how I never heard the same.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not it's the same.
- 35:02Speaker 3: It's it is like if Bill Hicks did a character,
- 35:07Speaker 3: that's what it would be. Yeah. In fact, I can
- 35:10Speaker 3: envision moments in his stand up where he's doing a
- 35:13Speaker 3: dumb American character and it's that.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Yeah, And just oh.
- 35:18Speaker 3: My god, it would make so much sense. And also
- 35:21Speaker 3: I've always felt weird about his death, Yeah, Bill, and
- 35:25Speaker 3: I never really knew why, and like an unusual feeling
- 35:30Speaker 3: that I don't really typically get whatever.
- 35:33Speaker 2: So, yeah, Alex Jones, is this documentary a bunch.
- 35:37Speaker 3: Oh so much? And like, also just everything, the whole
- 35:41Speaker 3: bit makes way more sense if it is Billicks.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Yeah, kind of like.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Honestly, Alex Jones fake name sounding as fuck and like
- 35:50Speaker 3: popped out of fucking nowhere and like.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Huh, same location, they both come from Austin, Texas, same
- 35:57Speaker 2: production company. And here's the thing, I.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Know production cut like what and like, I know the.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Really staunch, like uptight leftists among the audience. And I'm
- 36:10Speaker 2: not saying that to discredit, like say it shit about life.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Consider myself a leftist too, But I just know people
- 36:15Speaker 2: aren't gonna want to hear this. But Alex Jones is
- 36:17Speaker 2: legitimately funny in a lot of oh so funny. It's
- 36:21Speaker 2: like if you watch a lot of his clips, like
- 36:23Speaker 2: it would almost take a comedian to come up with
- 36:27Speaker 2: they're making the frogs gay, Like that's a thing, Yeah,
- 36:30Speaker 2: Alex Jones said to his supporters, and they were like, Bravo, rob.
- 36:37Speaker 3: They show that in the Dogs. Yeah, they show that
- 36:39Speaker 3: clip because it's so famous and like there is so
- 36:44Speaker 3: much memes about that. Yeah, Like, if you don't know
- 36:48Speaker 3: about making the frogs gay, you've been missing out on
- 36:51Speaker 3: so much Internet.
- 36:53Speaker 2: And again, think about what that does to any other
- 36:58Speaker 2: story that comes through Alex Jones, any talk of government
- 37:02Speaker 2: malfeasance that comes through Alex Jones. The government doesn't even
- 37:06Speaker 2: need to respond like mainstream media will just go listen
- 37:11Speaker 2: to what fucking Alex Jones is saying again, no matter
- 37:13Speaker 2: how true it may be. And that's not me saying
- 37:16Speaker 2: Alex Jones speaks the truth. Like Alex Jones talks a
- 37:20Speaker 2: lot of bullshit, especially Sandy Hook, and like what happened
- 37:23Speaker 2: with Sandy Hook kind of completely undoes my theory about
- 37:26Speaker 2: Alex Jones being a government plant unless he just like
- 37:29Speaker 2: went rogue. I don't know. Alex Jones is in this documentary.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Alex Jones is a major player in this documentary, I
- 37:36Speaker 3: would say, yeah, and in Q and all of it.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely. Another but big player in all of this
- 37:45Speaker 2: who is interviewed extensively is Enrique Tario, who is the
- 37:50Speaker 2: leader of the Proud Boys. His interviews are really interesting,
- 37:53Speaker 2: but like not in a good way.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Like in a haunting way.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I for one was not even sort of surprised
- 38:04Speaker 2: to find out he has a government informant pasted.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Yeah, not shocking.
- 38:10Speaker 2: It's like like, if you're the Proud Boys, that I
- 38:15Speaker 2: can see how they would fall for government infiltration of
- 38:18Speaker 2: that nature, because you got a person of color coming
- 38:22Speaker 2: forward to be like I'll be the face of your shit,
- 38:25Speaker 2: no problem, I fucking absolutely, I fucking love white people.
- 38:30Speaker 2: You kidding me? And then you get him in there
- 38:32Speaker 2: and uh oh, he has a past of working with
- 38:36Speaker 2: the government like that is also not conspiracy theory talk.
- 38:41Speaker 2: One of the most fascinating aspects of the assassination of
- 38:45Speaker 2: Malcolm X and just the government intervention into Malcolm X's
- 38:50Speaker 2: whole shit was that one, by the FBI's own admission,
- 38:54Speaker 2: there were ten FBI agents in the room when he
- 38:56Speaker 2: was assassinated. But they were just there to watch, they
- 38:59Speaker 2: were critism, just.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Just they were just happenstances.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Yeah, just they just had they were there to they
- 39:06Speaker 2: were fans, they were just there to check it out. Also,
- 39:11Speaker 2: the number two in the Nation of Islam at the
- 39:14Speaker 2: time Malcolm X was assassinated FBI informant, Like, the FBI
- 39:20Speaker 2: had people at the highest fucking level of the Nation
- 39:24Speaker 2: of Islam at the time, and they have to have
- 39:26Speaker 2: only gotten better at that since then. Yeah, so I have.
- 39:29Speaker 2: It didn't surprise me at all to hear the Enrique
- 39:32Speaker 2: a Tario is probably just a fucking government plant, And
- 39:37Speaker 2: fuck you, motherfuckers, that's what you deserve.
- 39:40Speaker 3: He's at least a fucking consumerism plant ship. Yeah, he
- 39:44Speaker 3: just like he loves a T shirt.
- 39:46Speaker 2: He sells don't Matter. Yeah, he like sort of even
- 39:53Speaker 2: admits that he he sells Biden merch on the internet to.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Yeah, He's like, oh it's a different company, but yeah.
- 40:00Speaker 2: And it's like that's ethics right there.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Nothing very ethical.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Yeah, just such a stand up guy. So uh, good
- 40:08Speaker 2: for you Proud Boys. Glad you got a fucking government
- 40:11Speaker 2: agent as your leader.
- 40:13Speaker 3: Dude. You know what I saw the other day a
- 40:15Speaker 3: picture of Gavin mcguinnis without Gavin McGuinness is the original
- 40:19Speaker 3: leader of the Proud Boys that stepped down. He's also
- 40:21Speaker 3: the leader of Vice, yeah, or the creator of Vice,
- 40:26Speaker 3: which is disturbed. And I guess he like literally doesn't
- 40:32Speaker 3: have a chin. Hate but like it is like just
- 40:39Speaker 3: because of what the Proud Boys is like, you kind
- 40:41Speaker 3: of imagine them to be like Chad's and like Chin boys.
- 40:44Speaker 3: And there's a picture of him with no beard and
- 40:49Speaker 3: he looks like a fucking Bob's Burger's character.
- 40:53Speaker 2: I don't like that.
- 40:54Speaker 3: See, Like it is just straight mouth to net is
- 40:58Speaker 3: wild hs. I mean I wouldn't normally shit on people's looks,
- 41:03Speaker 3: but this is just some next level.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Shit.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I guy, So look it up anyway. Yeah.
- 41:10Speaker 2: So can we talk about the scariest person in this documentary?
- 41:16Speaker 2: I think we can agree that would be that Spencer kid.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Holy shit, Oh my god. They spend a lot of
- 41:27Speaker 2: time talking to this family and they are just like
- 41:33Speaker 2: a family of QAnon believers, like hardcore believers. And you
- 41:41Speaker 2: can tell these parents their homeschool and these kids, and
- 41:45Speaker 2: you can tell there is like QAnon lessons in their
- 41:49Speaker 2: homeschooling because this kid can spout off all the fucking
- 41:54Speaker 2: QAnon tropes that you want to hear, all the stuff
- 41:58Speaker 2: about cabals and pedophiles and Joe Biden eating children and
- 42:04Speaker 2: all like this kid just can spit it from memory
- 42:08Speaker 2: and it.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Is Yeah, he's ye to it.
- 42:11Speaker 2: And we find out that it's not just that these
- 42:15Speaker 2: kids are homeschooled, but their parents took them out of
- 42:19Speaker 2: school because of like a combination of COVID and QAnon.
- 42:23Speaker 2: They don't yes, they don't want their kids.
- 42:26Speaker 3: They were not teaching enough QAnon in schools pretty much. Yeah.
- 42:30Speaker 2: They they feel like their kids are being like groomed
- 42:33Speaker 2: or whatever the fuck q Andon supporters are saying these days,
- 42:36Speaker 2: and that they didn't want them to have to wear masks.
- 42:39Speaker 2: So they just pulled their kids out start homeschooling them,
- 42:42Speaker 2: and it is clear that they are just teaching them
- 42:44Speaker 2: Q drops.
- 42:46Speaker 3: It is fucking nuts. And they show the dad like
- 42:49Speaker 3: going through the q website of Q forum whatever the fuck,
- 42:54Speaker 3: and he's like, yeah, you got to use a Q
- 42:55Speaker 3: code because they speak in code, and like, I'm like, huh, yeah.
- 43:01Speaker 2: I like the part where Andrew Callahan points out that
- 43:04Speaker 2: they misspelled the word sacrifice and he goes, is that
- 43:07Speaker 2: part of it? Is that a clue? The guy goes, yeah, definitely.
- 43:10Speaker 2: It's like on man, I did hear someone in this
- 43:14Speaker 2: documentary compare QAnon to Nigerian email scams and that it's
- 43:19Speaker 2: a basic comparison, but it is shockingly accurate.
- 43:23Speaker 3: I would what are that? What are that?
- 43:26Speaker 2: Nigerian email scams are a thing. I don't know that
- 43:30Speaker 2: they happen only in Nigeria, and I don't know how
- 43:33Speaker 2: huge they still are, but basically, people would send out
- 43:37Speaker 2: like hundreds thousands of emails a day claiming like I'm
- 43:42Speaker 2: a member of the royal family and I'm trapped in
- 43:46Speaker 2: this country and if you can help me get this
- 43:49Speaker 2: money out of the country, I'll share it with you.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Oh oh, And it's a total numbers game where most
- 43:57Speaker 2: people are like that email's not even going to get
- 43:59Speaker 2: to them. It's just gonna go to their spam filter.
- 44:03Speaker 2: But it only takes like one or two people to
- 44:05Speaker 2: fall for it, and that's how it becomes this huge
- 44:08Speaker 2: industry that it is. And QAnon's kind of the same thing.
- 44:12Speaker 2: Like most people who see this stuff are gonna be like,
- 44:15Speaker 2: they misspelled fucking sacrifice, what is this? Yeah, but then
- 44:19Speaker 2: you're gonna get people like this who internalize it and
- 44:23Speaker 2: hand it down to their fucking kids, And it's just
- 44:26Speaker 2: a numbers game. Like QAnon is still a fringe group,
- 44:29Speaker 2: but there's a lot of them. Like there's as many
- 44:32Speaker 2: of them as there were like Seventh Day Adventists at
- 44:35Speaker 2: this point in that groups.
- 44:37Speaker 3: That's really crazy.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Development in that group has definitely managed to take a
- 44:41Speaker 2: foothold in the United States. So do you think that.
- 44:44Speaker 3: Like puzzles are a good way to create a following?
- 44:49Speaker 2: Maybe, like maybe maybe i'd to start.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Making more puzzles.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Yeah, we need to start like come up with.
- 44:55Speaker 3: An unpops code.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Yeah, we should keep doing podcasts, but we should just
- 44:59Speaker 2: like put them on USB drives and leave them in
- 45:03Speaker 2: random locations and give people clues as to where they
- 45:05Speaker 2: can find them.
- 45:06Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you can only get this month's episode
- 45:09Speaker 3: if you follow the fucking breadcrumb trail to Grandma's house
- 45:13Speaker 3: in the forest.
- 45:13Speaker 2: We have to do that with at least one episode.
- 45:17Speaker 2: We sure do, and then people find it and it's
- 45:19Speaker 2: just at like the Hooters in Long Beach or something
- 45:24Speaker 2: that would be amazing.
- 45:25Speaker 3: Oh my god. The last time I did anything like
- 45:27Speaker 3: that was when people ask each other to prom They're like,
- 45:33Speaker 3: it's a scavenger lunt.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Oh, that would be so disappointing if you did that
- 45:38Speaker 2: and it was a no at the end.
- 45:39Speaker 3: Oh oh fuck.
- 45:43Speaker 2: They also interviewed for Giado blow in this He is
- 45:47Speaker 2: the Maga rapper. He has such a fucking con artist,
- 45:50Speaker 2: Like he even says I wasn't a Republican until twenty sixteen,
- 45:54Speaker 2: and it's like.
- 45:54Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Homie's just playing capitalism. Yeah, and he's not
- 45:58Speaker 3: a good rapper.
- 45:59Speaker 2: He's not a good rapper. And don't play capitalism that way,
- 46:02Speaker 2: fuck face, Like.
- 46:04Speaker 3: No, you are. Don't go to the evil side, you motherfucker.
- 46:08Speaker 2: You are stealing music from the community that capitalism hurts
- 46:12Speaker 2: the worst, Like, yeah, fucking I hope you break your
- 46:16Speaker 2: fucking ankle this weekend. Damn fucking get them ankle down.
- 46:22Speaker 2: I did find there was footage of this December twelfth
- 46:26Speaker 2: rally that turned into a riot in Washington, DC, and
- 46:30Speaker 2: I thought that was a really interesting piece of the
- 46:34Speaker 2: January sixth puzzle because the Proud Boys used to be
- 46:39Speaker 2: vehemently pro police, and then this rally happens on December
- 46:44Speaker 2: twelfth in DC and the police break it up and
- 46:49Speaker 2: kind of like tear gas the Proud Boys and like
- 46:52Speaker 2: use force, and that's when they start like moving away
- 46:56Speaker 2: from being pro cop. Like there's one of them that
- 46:59Speaker 2: is taught looking to a cop and literally says, we're
- 47:02Speaker 2: on your side. But that doesn't have to last forever.
- 47:06Speaker 3: And yes, that moment is so crazy to be on camera.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Yeah, and then you see that on January sixth, where
- 47:13Speaker 2: I think a lot of people's question about that incident was, well,
- 47:17Speaker 2: aren't you supposed to be like Blue Lives Matter all
- 47:20Speaker 2: like pro cops, And it's like, now that ship is sailed,
- 47:23Speaker 2: now they're just like pro whatever cops are on their side,
- 47:26Speaker 2: and then everyone else can get fucked and I don't
- 47:30Speaker 2: know what to think about that, because you know, I
- 47:32Speaker 2: also don't love the cops, but I feel like we
- 47:35Speaker 2: dislike the cops for very different reasons.
- 47:38Speaker 3: Well, yeah, they dis like cops because cops weren't going
- 47:41Speaker 3: to bat for them, right, And we just like cops
- 47:45Speaker 3: because cops fuck up everyone's life, Yes, and so I
- 47:51Speaker 3: mean it's similar reasons on a broad scheme, but they
- 47:54Speaker 3: don't have the perspective to understand that when it's not
- 47:57Speaker 3: about them, cops are still behaving like assholes.
- 48:00Speaker 2: I think my favorite moment in this is when that
- 48:04Speaker 2: kid is sad at the end.
- 48:07Speaker 3: Oh, yes, the whole movie is worth that.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Yeah, the part where the whole family is just distraught
- 48:14Speaker 2: because all the things Q told them was going to
- 48:16Speaker 2: happen to keep Trump in office, none of it fucking happened.
- 48:21Speaker 2: And I hate to say it, but the kid sounds
- 48:23Speaker 2: like the smartest one in the family, and I think that's.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Oh, he's definitely the smartest one.
- 48:27Speaker 2: I think that's why he does the most talking, and
- 48:30Speaker 2: he's really kind of eloquent in explaining why he's so
- 48:34Speaker 2: disappointed in Q.
- 48:37Speaker 3: So eloquent he really is just like, well, it was
- 48:42Speaker 3: all a lie. So I'm disappointed.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's like good, like I'm glad your family
- 48:48Speaker 2: is sad in this moment, Like your parents need to drink.
- 48:52Speaker 3: You should feel betrayed, yeah.
- 48:53Speaker 2: And your parents need to feel like they have betrayed
- 48:57Speaker 2: you as a child, Like, yes, because they they did.
- 49:01Speaker 2: They've taught you some bullshit and made it the entire
- 49:04Speaker 2: center of your family's life for like a at least
- 49:08Speaker 2: a year.
- 49:08Speaker 3: Y'all. We're outside in the street with no cars waving flags.
- 49:11Speaker 2: Yeah that was there's like almost no one in the neighborhood.
- 49:15Speaker 3: And there's no imagine being their neighbor.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Oh man, that would be I would cry every day. Yeah,
- 49:20Speaker 2: that would be bad times.
- 49:21Speaker 3: I'd be like, oh fuck not again that the flags.
- 49:25Speaker 3: I got to kidnap these children.
- 49:28Speaker 2: And so then the last like big aha, gotcha moment
- 49:32Speaker 2: in this documentary, we go back to Dave TODOSKINI and
- 49:36Speaker 2: now he and Andrew Callahan are for one thing, they're
- 49:39Speaker 2: eating out of Culver's, which made me very lonely for
- 49:42Speaker 2: a Culver's butter burger, one of the only fast food
- 49:46Speaker 2: outlets that will sell you a pork tenderloin sandwich, unlike
- 49:49Speaker 2: these other cue fucking cowards. Now they're delicious.
- 49:52Speaker 3: I bet not.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Okay, it's just like a fry. It's just like a
- 49:55Speaker 2: chicken sandwich, but it's like a really thin piece of
- 49:59Speaker 2: pork instead of chicken. It's really good.
- 50:01Speaker 3: I've bend to culvers. It's fine.
- 50:03Speaker 2: I love a Culver's. But that's not what's important about
- 50:07Speaker 2: this scene. What's important is Andrew is running Dave through
- 50:12Speaker 2: this list of prominent liberals and Democrats. He's holding up
- 50:16Speaker 2: pictures and every time, like it's one time, it'll be Oprah,
- 50:20Speaker 2: and Dave's like pedophile, Joe Biden, pedophile, I don't even remember.
- 50:25Speaker 2: There's one picture he holds up and I'm like, there's
- 50:27Speaker 2: no way. Oh it's Jonah Hill. And I remember being like,
- 50:30Speaker 2: there's no way Dave knows who that is. And Dave
- 50:32Speaker 2: like hesitates and goes pedophile, like you don't even know
- 50:36Speaker 2: who that was. And then Andrew points out that Dave
- 50:45Speaker 2: had been arrested a few years prior and charged and
- 50:49Speaker 2: convicted with child rustation and not just child molestation, sodomy,
- 50:56Speaker 2: like he raped a child. And of course he's like,
- 51:01Speaker 2: well I did what Michael Flynn did. I pled guilty
- 51:04Speaker 2: because I had no choice. The state was after me.
- 51:06Speaker 3: And it's like, shut the fid.
- 51:09Speaker 2: And Andrew's like, are you familiar with projecting? Like do
- 51:12Speaker 2: you think you might be projecting? He's like no, no,
- 51:15Speaker 2: I'm gonna take this whole system down, and it's like
- 51:18Speaker 2: shut up. He secks. Creep fuck, it's pretty creepy.
- 51:22Speaker 3: It's so fucking disturbed because, like I'm sure a lot
- 51:26Speaker 3: of these people who feel like this and scream about
- 51:29Speaker 3: this stuff, it's the same shit. And so it's really
- 51:32Speaker 3: scary to think about that perspective when you really zoom out. Yeah,
- 51:37Speaker 3: cause you know, if you're looking that hard, what are
- 51:41Speaker 3: you looking for?
- 51:42Speaker 2: Right?
- 51:42Speaker 3: That's the thing, and that is the thing that it's like,
- 51:46Speaker 3: so what's up with Andrew? Yeah, so then what are
- 51:50Speaker 3: you looking for? Buddy?
- 51:52Speaker 2: Then Andrew he got to enjoy this for a.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Day or two, like forty eight hours.
- 51:58Speaker 2: And then allegation about Andrew Callahan came out and they're
- 52:03Speaker 2: not good. No, it's more than one woman, like two
- 52:07Speaker 2: or three women, I don't know exactly how many, and
- 52:10Speaker 2: it's just kind of like sex, pest, coercion, behavior that
- 52:16Speaker 2: is not good. He did an apology video.
- 52:19Speaker 3: He has since been in a psych word done an
- 52:21Speaker 3: apology video, and I almost liked the apology. There is
- 52:27Speaker 3: one part where he says that he never did anything
- 52:32Speaker 3: that someone said no to, and I'm like, that is
- 52:34Speaker 3: exactly what they said you did, Like, so don't fucking
- 52:40Speaker 3: do that. You could have literally had a perfect apology
- 52:43Speaker 3: if you had just taken fucking responsibility for every single
- 52:47Speaker 3: one of your actions and said I'm working to do better.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Maybe a lot of the stuff that I was doing
- 52:52Speaker 3: was to try to fill a void in my soul
- 52:54Speaker 3: that I'm going to try to fill otherwise right now,
- 52:57Speaker 3: and take a break from being in the social sphere
- 52:59Speaker 3: of things. Just take responsibility for your actions. Donate money
- 53:04Speaker 3: to fucking something, like to the victims I don't even know,
- 53:08Speaker 3: do something. There's no actionable change ever with any of
- 53:12Speaker 3: these apologies, and I just feel like that's a huge
- 53:14Speaker 3: part that's missing. And like we were all rooting for Andrew.
- 53:18Speaker 3: You know, it's like very rare that somebody just like
- 53:22Speaker 3: fucking puts their foot to the ground running with something
- 53:25Speaker 3: and then you have an HBO movie. Yeah, like that
- 53:28Speaker 3: is very rare, And we were all stoked that somebody
- 53:31Speaker 3: could like reveal people to be all kinds of crazy
- 53:36Speaker 3: with no actual fucking forced opinion on anything. You kind
- 53:39Speaker 3: of are left to your own decisions with it, and
- 53:42Speaker 3: that is rare as well. Like, there was so many
- 53:45Speaker 3: things that I was rooting for Andrew about he was
- 53:48Speaker 3: on CNN being like fuck CNN, yeah, and no one
- 53:52Speaker 3: has ever really done that. I posted on my story
- 53:56Speaker 3: about it the week before the movie came out, being like,
- 53:59Speaker 3: good job, daddy or whatever the fuck you know me online? Yeah,
- 54:04Speaker 3: And then then he saw it. And then the next
- 54:06Speaker 3: day I saw him on the street and I was like, hey,
- 54:08Speaker 3: I think I called you daddy on my story last night,
- 54:11Speaker 3: and he was like, he was like in what context?
- 54:13Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, you were just shitting on
- 54:15Speaker 3: CNN while being on CNN, and I thought that was dope.
- 54:18Speaker 3: And he was like thanks, and like fist bumped me
- 54:20Speaker 3: and we were like, have a good day, keep doing
- 54:22Speaker 3: the work you're doing. Both of us like yay, and
- 54:26Speaker 3: it just like was a very normal interaction. And that's
- 54:29Speaker 3: the real thing is that you shouldn't trust anyone to
- 54:35Speaker 3: not make mistakes like that, I feel is the vibe,
- 54:39Speaker 3: because you know you're just gonna be perpetually disappointed. And
- 54:44Speaker 3: the thing about mistakes, is that just because you don't
- 54:49Speaker 3: think you made any doesn't mean you didn't, right, Like,
- 54:53Speaker 3: and I think that's the issue with a lot of
- 54:55Speaker 3: this is like I don't think that Andrew actually thinks
- 54:58Speaker 3: he did anything wrong, and I still don't.
- 55:00Speaker 2: And yeah, that's that's a problem. I mean, it's a
- 55:04Speaker 2: problem for him, especially in that what he's accused of,
- 55:07Speaker 2: Like not to minimize it, obviously, but he could come
- 55:11Speaker 2: back from it, like he's not. He could Danny Masterson
- 55:15Speaker 2: he didn't, like, forcibly rape someone like Danny Masterson should
- 55:20Speaker 2: be in fucking prison. Like Andrew Callahan obviously did bad
- 55:26Speaker 2: and needs to work on himself. But yeah, just like
- 55:29Speaker 2: be honest about it and fucking do the work and it'll.
- 55:31Speaker 3: Andrew Callahan should have every girl on a livestream who
- 55:34Speaker 3: fucking accused him of something if they're willing to, and
- 55:37Speaker 3: they should all fundraise for damages done to everyone involved
- 55:42Speaker 3: and like some fucking women's charity or something and just
- 55:45Speaker 3: have hard conversations and see if anybody's down. That's what
- 55:48Speaker 3: needs to fucking happen at some point is people who
- 55:50Speaker 3: are victims and the person who did something need to
- 55:52Speaker 3: have a live conversation and show what that looks like,
- 55:56Speaker 3: to try to grow and be better and learn, And
- 55:58Speaker 3: no one is willing to do that. And I understand
- 56:00Speaker 3: stand that, But when are we going to grow from
- 56:03Speaker 3: this era?
- 56:05Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 56:05Speaker 3: I don't see anything besides separation of sides and people
- 56:11Speaker 3: thinking they didn't do anything wrong and no forgiveness and like,
- 56:15Speaker 3: not that anyone who did anything wrong needs to be forgiven,
- 56:19Speaker 3: but what an exercise it could be to try, that's all,
- 56:22Speaker 3: especially the girls that already put themselves forward. Let's have
- 56:25Speaker 3: some hard conversations. I'm not asking them to do anything.
- 56:28Speaker 3: They're victims. They can do whatever they want. Maybe I
- 56:31Speaker 3: need to fucking reach out to somebody who fucked me
- 56:33Speaker 3: up and we can start a podcast. I don't know.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Maybe, No, I don't know.
- 56:39Speaker 3: It just seems like these conversations needs to be had,
- 56:41Speaker 3: not amongst just men. Like good job Andrew for confronting
- 56:43Speaker 3: this Dave guy. I don't think this Dave guy thinks
- 56:45Speaker 3: he did anything wrong either.
- 56:47Speaker 2: No, no, but and I don't.
- 56:48Speaker 3: Think he will. Yeah, And same with Alex Jones.
- 56:51Speaker 2: I think Dave is mentally ill though, And.
- 56:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we're all fucking mentally ill.
- 56:56Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe not to the extent Dave is, but uh.
- 56:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Dave needs serious help and supervision.
- 57:03Speaker 2: In several ways like states, yes, yeah, yes, so yeah,
- 57:08Speaker 2: I don't know. It's it's a good documentary. I think
- 57:11Speaker 2: it's important. The allegations against Andrew Callahan are also obviously
- 57:17Speaker 2: very important and very bad. And I don't know, like,
- 57:21Speaker 2: at the same time, I didn't learn a lot from
- 57:24Speaker 2: this documentary, Like it did feel a lot.
- 57:28Speaker 3: Right, it was a lot of stuff I already knew,
- 57:30Speaker 3: and it was a lot of the depths of how
- 57:32Speaker 3: bad things are.
- 57:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it Yeah, it felt a lot like throwing
- 57:37Speaker 2: gas on a fire that's already burning bright enough that
- 57:40Speaker 2: we can see it like this.
- 57:42Speaker 3: Well, I think there was probably footage from the insurrection
- 57:44Speaker 3: that they wanted to show that we couldn't see.
- 57:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that I would have been interested to see.
- 57:48Speaker 3: But that's kind of like the vibe of what they
- 57:51Speaker 3: were putting out, and I was like, we never really
- 57:54Speaker 3: saw any of that.
- 57:55Speaker 2: Yeah, he does. He spends most of the claims to
- 57:58Speaker 2: have spent most of the Capital Insurrection in is RV
- 58:03Speaker 2: with COVID.
- 58:04Speaker 3: So and also, like we said, we all thought that
- 58:07Speaker 3: this was like coming to some sort of head to
- 58:10Speaker 3: a larger war or something. But really it was just
- 58:15Speaker 3: one day that we all lost our minds and.
- 58:19Speaker 2: Then what Yeah, I think the question is what's next?
- 58:21Speaker 3: Just all fizzled? Like I don't like, did everyone just
- 58:26Speaker 3: get disillusioned when nothing that they believed it in't happened?
- 58:30Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 58:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, who knows? Now, who knows? I guess we
- 58:36Speaker 2: will see Maybe me and you will have to do
- 58:38Speaker 2: the next documentary like this.
- 58:40Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll have to start it with our fight.
- 58:43Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, Oh, I forgot about that. Yeah, we are
- 58:45Speaker 2: going to beat the shit out of each other for charity.
- 58:50Speaker 2: So I think that's our episode.
- 58:52Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, definitely, we did it.
- 58:54Speaker 2: We did it. Jen, Thank you so much for guesting
- 58:58Speaker 2: on the pod. Do you have anything to plug before

- 59:05Speaker 3: Following is free and usually one of my nice nice
- 59:08Speaker 3: subscribers will gift you a sub for your first month.
- 59:11Speaker 3: It's only five dollars to subscribe for the month. I

- 59:17Speaker 3: We listen to all of the music from the week.
- 59:19Speaker 3: If you're gonna listen to music during the day. Why
- 59:21Speaker 3: not just listen to music with me instead?
- 59:23Speaker 2: Right, That's what I was gonna say.
- 59:26Speaker 3: Yeah, Oh and SNL February twelve.
