- 0:57Speaker 2: and Goldie Loke the East Side of It their backs
- 1:01Speaker 2: bo Leg. Hey Man, so y'all just dropped this new EP. Now,
- 1:07Speaker 2: is this the first body of work since like oh
- 1:09Speaker 2: one or y'all already put you guys have been putting
- 1:12Speaker 2: out some like INDEPENDENTI shit.
- 1:13Speaker 3: But in terms of like being.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Under like back with Snoop officially, like in terms of
- 1:18Speaker 2: like the paperwork and shit, like, is this like y'all's
- 1:20Speaker 2: first time like dropping with Snooping in that long well?
- 1:23Speaker 1: When I touched down in twenty fourteen, I did like
- 1:28Speaker 1: ten and a half and I came home and we
- 1:33Speaker 1: got together and did a mix tape we did, matter
- 1:37Speaker 1: of fact, we did That's My Work Volume four with
- 1:40Speaker 1: Snoop Dogg. And we had dropped a single called get
- 1:43Speaker 1: You right off of There, did a video to it
- 1:45Speaker 1: and everything, and it was pretty well received, you know
- 1:49Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And we did our own thing, dropped
- 1:52Speaker 1: a few songs in the entrim. We always you know,
- 1:55Speaker 1: through shows with Dog and all that, for sure, you know,
- 1:58Speaker 1: we always in the mix. But like you said, when
- 2:00Speaker 1: we got in here, just having some brand new music
- 2:03Speaker 1: out there, just letting the people feel us and know
- 2:05Speaker 1: that we still you know, swag like that. That's a
- 2:08Speaker 1: that's a good feeling.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Like I feel so old. I don't even talk about
- 2:13Speaker 2: hold y'all you When I was looking at the Spotify
- 2:16Speaker 2: because I like vividly remember going and buying the first album,
- 2:20Speaker 2: and that shit came out in the year two thousand,
- 2:23Speaker 2: I'm like, god, damn, yeah, yeah, like twenty four years
- 2:28Speaker 2: ago had some change.
- 2:30Speaker 4: We brought the Millennium Man right though.
- 2:32Speaker 2: And that was kind of like you guys were kind
- 2:34Speaker 2: of like what like I want to say, like kind
- 2:36Speaker 2: of kicked.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Off like like Snoop as like a label owner.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I felt like you guys were like kind of like
- 2:42Speaker 2: the first guys he was presenting as like this is
- 2:45Speaker 2: like my shit, you know what I'm saying.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it was us, and then the Doggies Age
- 2:49Speaker 1: Doggies Angels.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I remember Doggi's Angels.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Yeah yeah.
- 2:52Speaker 1: They came up behind us, and then we dropped the
- 2:55Speaker 1: second one after them. We dropped a dud to trace
- 2:59Speaker 1: the old fashioned Yeah. I was working on our third one, and.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Then you got locked up.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Yeah damn. We did the movie movie. Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 2: What do you guys remember about that time, like working
- 3:10Speaker 2: on that first album kind of knowing you I mean
- 3:12Speaker 2: at the time, I mean obviously your two thousand Snoops
- 3:15Speaker 2: fucking you know, on top of the world. The No
- 3:17Speaker 2: Limit shit's happening, you guys kind of be in the
- 3:19Speaker 2: face of his label, like what what what do you
- 3:22Speaker 2: remember about that era of like you guys working on
- 3:23Speaker 2: that first album.
- 3:25Speaker 4: M hm.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Ship you was bringing new gold, y'all. I feel that
- 3:32Speaker 1: I've been I've been diffite and dabbing on verse.
- 3:35Speaker 4: You know I did with the dog Paan I fucked
- 3:37Speaker 4: with uh.
- 3:38Speaker 1: You know because this was during the No Limit years,
- 3:40Speaker 1: right right after he had just dropped his No Limit last.
- 3:43Speaker 4: The Last Meal.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, and.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Yeah he came on after that.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and then we had the hood behind us, So
- 3:52Speaker 1: that really felt good because you know, we represent two
- 3:56Speaker 1: different different sets in the hood, so you know, to
- 3:59Speaker 1: have all home boys come together and start you know,
- 4:03Speaker 1: partying together and hanging out together, that was a big.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Accomplishment for us.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, because you know, prior to that, it
- 4:11Speaker 1: was you know, just a lot of gun playing, you know,
- 4:14Speaker 1: conflict every time you know, the two sides met up anywhere.
- 4:19Speaker 1: So for us to bridge that gap, that was the
- 4:22Speaker 1: biggest part of the east side of this project.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Was that, like something that you guys knew was important like,
- 4:28Speaker 2: was Snoop kind of the catalysts to say, hey, we
- 4:29Speaker 2: got to bring bring everybody together from Long Beach so
- 4:32Speaker 2: you guys can move to that like kind of together
- 4:34Speaker 2: in the same way. Or was it just like y'all
- 4:36Speaker 2: it just was already.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Moving like that individuals, right, Yeah, you.
- 4:40Speaker 6: Know what I'm saying, because Long Beach, you know, you know,
- 4:43Speaker 6: we all either related somehow anyway, you know what I
- 4:48Speaker 6: mean a little bit. Yeah, So so it just came
- 4:52Speaker 6: about about you know, us as individuals smashing for the
- 4:57Speaker 6: city a certain way, being stand up guys.
- 5:00Speaker 1: You know, he probably had the foresight that that would
- 5:03Speaker 1: happen by bringing us together. Og me from my hood,
- 5:08Speaker 1: young homie from his hood.
- 5:10Speaker 5: You know, just.
- 5:11Speaker 7: That that divide right there, just bridging that divide was
- 5:17Speaker 7: you know, it was probably something he conceived that would
- 5:22Speaker 7: bring some healing about to the city, you know, because
- 5:25Speaker 7: he always been, you know, pushing about the city.
- 5:27Speaker 1: He ain't never been no device in person or nothing
- 5:30Speaker 1: like that.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Sure, I wondered so around the year two thousand, I'm
- 5:34Speaker 2: trying to put myself in a time machine here. The
- 5:36Speaker 2: fact you guys have an album out on Death Throw.
- 5:38Speaker 2: If you guys would have heard that in two thousand,
- 5:40Speaker 2: you guys have been like, that's fucking wild. Yeah, because
- 5:43Speaker 2: around that time, should drop the Chronic two thousand, right,
- 5:48Speaker 2: which no, no, he remember, should drop like the weird
- 5:51Speaker 2: Chronic two thousand.
- 5:52Speaker 3: I don't remember that there was a guy on this
- 5:55Speaker 3: remember that?
- 5:56Speaker 2: Do you guys remember there was a dude on that
- 5:58Speaker 2: album who sounded just like Snoop Dog when he wrapped.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Top Dog, top Dog, he sounded just like the top Dog.
- 6:05Speaker 2: So I like Sugar drop that album to kind of
- 6:07Speaker 2: like stop any momentum that Dre had for the Chronic
- 6:10Speaker 2: two thousand and one.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Right, But it didn't.
- 6:13Speaker 2: But I'm saying like that was like a real like
- 6:15Speaker 2: interesting time because at the time, obviously Snoop and Sugar
- 6:18Speaker 2: not seeing eye to eye. What was that like just
- 6:20Speaker 2: like kind of being around for that kind of because
- 6:22Speaker 2: that was like a very interesting time. Snoops obviously he
- 6:25Speaker 2: decided to go to No Limit. There's this weird Chronic
- 6:28Speaker 2: album that drops. Chronical two thousand one is about to drive.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I think it was out in two by two thousand,
- 6:32Speaker 2: I think it did drop. I think it dropped in
- 6:34Speaker 2: two thousand.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, okay, were ninety nine what was it fuzzy?
- 6:38Speaker 4: It was.
- 6:39Speaker 5: It was on out there in the streets.
- 6:41Speaker 3: It was crazy.
- 6:41Speaker 5: It was on. Yeah, it was on and popping yeah everywhere.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it was no telling what was gonna go down
- 6:48Speaker 1: when you know, when we interacted with different clicks and
- 6:51Speaker 1: cruise like that.
- 6:52Speaker 4: But you know, we was pushing with dogs. So it
- 6:55Speaker 4: was whatever.
- 6:56Speaker 2: You guys coming from the street side, and then there's
- 6:57Speaker 2: like the street side mixing with the wrap side.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it's label ship.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and you gotta stand on what you stand on
- 7:05Speaker 1: regardless because UK say, oh, there's just some rap ship
- 7:08Speaker 1: and handled that a different way than you would handle business.
- 7:12Speaker 4: On the other side.
- 7:12Speaker 1: So yeah, it was wild man, it was.
- 7:15Speaker 4: It was. It was a very interesting time in hip hop.
- 7:18Speaker 2: And now you guys have you have a death Row
- 7:20Speaker 2: chain on, you have a project. I guess it's crazy
- 7:22Speaker 2: how this guy bought death.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Row right right, Yeah it is, it is.
- 7:29Speaker 2: And now you can get death throw hard seltzers, you
- 7:32Speaker 2: could get death throw I mean there's the death Row
- 7:34Speaker 2: logo fucking everything.
- 7:36Speaker 3: You need some death throw rims.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I gotta see them with you. Yeah, that's crazy though,
- 7:47Speaker 1: that would be hard some some label rims.
- 7:52Speaker 5: Everybody.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I knew.
- 7:55Speaker 5: The ship was coming. Though I knew the ship was
- 7:58Speaker 5: gonna happen.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yeah, now it's been up to see man, and I
- 8:01Speaker 2: just loved, like love to see like just like you know,
- 8:04Speaker 2: I have bought Doggy Style is the most important album
- 8:07Speaker 2: in my life. Time changed my life. So I have
- 8:10Speaker 2: like every piece of Doggy Style random. I got the jacket,
- 8:14Speaker 2: I got the bump box, I got boom box of
- 8:17Speaker 2: my garage and stuff. I got every fucking I got
- 8:19Speaker 2: every copy of the CD that ever was printed. It's
- 8:22Speaker 2: like that album, Like really, that's my bucket list interviews.
- 8:25Speaker 2: When I interviewed Stoop, I'm be like, man, I wouldn't
- 8:27Speaker 2: be here without you, buddy.
- 8:28Speaker 4: That's right.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I got Doggy Style because you remember, back in the
- 8:31Speaker 2: day I used to get in the magazines, you would be.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Able to order like fifteen CS for a penny.
- 8:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Remember that.
- 8:38Speaker 2: My grandma got Doggy Style on accident in the mail.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I was like five, and she gave it to me
- 8:43Speaker 2: because she was an old lady and she just saw
- 8:45Speaker 2: a cartoon on the front. And I learned that whole whoa.
- 8:50Speaker 2: And by the time my mom found out what I
- 8:51Speaker 2: was listening to, already knew the whole sit by her.
- 8:53Speaker 3: She took it was too late.
- 8:56Speaker 4: You beat on the table.
- 8:59Speaker 2: To me, it's just there's doggy styllon and everything else.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Right right, it would be too just getting familiar with
- 9:05Speaker 1: it at that impression of the skits like no.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Man, the skits like are you being like you feel
- 9:10Speaker 2: like you was there? Yeah, beginning the murder was the case.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:15Speaker 1: You go back and listen to all Doctor Droit productions.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Though he's one of the masters of skits, he always
- 9:22Speaker 1: inject you know, some humor or some you know.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Skits on albums.
- 9:28Speaker 4: I feel like scratching, yeah.
- 9:29Speaker 1: You know what I mean, and the DJ the call
- 9:32Speaker 1: and response with the you know, the back and forth
- 9:34Speaker 1: you say something when you leave a word out and
- 9:36Speaker 1: the DJ filling in with the scratching the something. Yes,
- 9:40Speaker 1: it's yes. Hip hop is going in a whole different direction.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Talk about this new project still Easte.
- 9:46Speaker 2: How long were you guys working on it, these songs,
- 9:47Speaker 2: like is it a mixture of older stuff you guys
- 9:49Speaker 2: had or is this all new stuff you got?
- 9:51Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 9:52Speaker 2: All what inspired it to be? Like time to finally
- 9:55Speaker 2: like let's let's let's do ep, let's get together let's
- 9:57Speaker 2: make some ship. Mm hmm.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Well, we had been in there with him. We had
- 10:05Speaker 1: been in we had been in the lab with him
- 10:07Speaker 1: a couple of times planning on dropping some in side
- 10:11Speaker 1: of ship. But you know, scheduling is always a motherfucker.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Then when you're dealing with the largest president hip hop,
- 10:19Speaker 1: you know what I mean. You know, it's hard to
- 10:22Speaker 1: lock him down for a particular time to get get
- 10:25Speaker 1: it done. But he let us know after he was
- 10:28Speaker 1: producing the Dog Pounds album, he was like, you know,
- 10:31Speaker 1: I'm only gonna have this window, man, and I need
- 10:33Speaker 1: y'all to you know, give me something, you know, so
- 10:36Speaker 1: we can get together and you know, do some world
- 10:39Speaker 1: tours and ship next year, you know, and all that
- 10:41Speaker 1: with the family, you know, the Doghouse, dog Pound Family,
- 10:45Speaker 1: death Row.
- 10:46Speaker 4: And I think we put this together in about about
- 10:51Speaker 4: ten days.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Well I was about to say that the Dog Pound
- 10:53Speaker 2: album just dropped recently. Yeah, yeah, so you guys really
- 10:57Speaker 2: cook this thing up.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Oh yeah. We fell in there when right.
- 11:00Speaker 6: The work we was already kind of working on it,
- 11:02Speaker 6: you know what I mean, And we came back to
- 11:04Speaker 6: missed him up.
- 11:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Yeah, we had with just want going down the song
- 11:08Speaker 1: with Battle cat We had did that already, but we
- 11:12Speaker 1: hadn't spearheaded it for no particular project.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 11:17Speaker 1: It was something that we was going to add to
- 11:20Speaker 1: the catalog of things we was doing in there and
- 11:22Speaker 1: build something from there.
- 11:23Speaker 6: But in the midst of help us with the NFT
- 11:25Speaker 6: music and all that kind of stuff.
- 11:27Speaker 2: What's it like working with the October guy October London
- 11:31Speaker 2: is like I feel like I always tell people like
- 11:32Speaker 2: Snoop got this guy. He sounds like he's from like
- 11:35Speaker 2: fucking nineteen seventy nine, Like he's.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Making real R and B.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah, like he's making like real dope R and B music.
- 11:43Speaker 3: It's like been missing bad man.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Yeah, he's cold, Yeah, bad man.
- 11:48Speaker 5: He shout out to him.
- 11:49Speaker 4: He knocked that. He knocked that.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Uh, he knocked that hook out, Like he knocked that
- 11:53Speaker 1: chorus out just like in ten minutes, you know what
- 11:58Speaker 1: I mean. He felt the song and he went there
- 12:01Speaker 1: and laid the chorus down. And in the midst of
- 12:03Speaker 1: us recording, I think we did like about like three
- 12:07Speaker 1: or four songs one day. I think Goldie did four.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I did three because Goldie had he had it was
- 12:12Speaker 1: a verse. I think he had to do gangster fide,
- 12:15Speaker 1: so he had to get back on there. So we
- 12:17Speaker 1: was just recording one day, just back to back, and
- 12:20Speaker 1: he slid that track to London and London hit us
- 12:22Speaker 1: back with that and it was just go yeah, you.
- 12:25Speaker 5: Know, it was go.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I wonder you guys had Mob Deep on your second project?
- 12:30Speaker 2: What was it like, because around that time, it's like,
- 12:32Speaker 2: oh one, so, I mean the East Coast West Cooast
- 12:35Speaker 2: Ship's kind of over with at that point in time.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Whose idea was it to work with Mob Deep? And
- 12:41Speaker 2: you know, obviously Prodigy rest in peace to him, one
- 12:43Speaker 2: of the goats.
- 12:43Speaker 5: I thought that was dope.
- 12:45Speaker 1: That was Snoop Dogg's idea, and we had did We
- 12:49Speaker 1: did a song called dal Sheldon I Kill with with
- 12:52Speaker 1: Mob Deep when they was doing murder music I did.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I was out there with dog and you know, I
- 12:57Speaker 1: wrote a verse and he was like you was like,
- 12:59Speaker 1: what's you're getting on the cut? I'm like, hell, yeah,
- 13:02Speaker 1: I'm getting on it. I'm welcome. So he was like, man,
- 13:04Speaker 1: drop your ship. He's like me, He's like, man, drop
- 13:07Speaker 1: that ship. So we had a relationship.
- 13:10Speaker 3: So you was already in the studio with Prodigy.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I've been in that studio win before and then
- 13:14Speaker 1: I got him on my one of my subsequent albums
- 13:17Speaker 1: on a song called General salute Me.
- 13:18Speaker 3: You guys hard.
- 13:20Speaker 1: So we had that report and then I guess Dog
- 13:23Speaker 1: wanted to give us some East Coast flavor on the
- 13:26Speaker 1: second album as well, because it was straight West on.
- 13:29Speaker 4: The first one.
- 13:30Speaker 1: And that's that's that was a group that he called on.
- 13:33Speaker 1: We was in the studio, uh Premiere DJ Premier came through.
- 13:38Speaker 4: I think we did. Did we do a song with
- 13:39Speaker 4: a little more that night too? Yeah?
- 13:42Speaker 1: Yeah, so we was I don't forget what studio we
- 13:45Speaker 1: was in.
- 13:45Speaker 2: I always feel like Snooper was like kind of like
- 13:47Speaker 2: the guy who was like pretty level headed throughout all
- 13:49Speaker 2: that because he had a lot of like love for
- 13:52Speaker 2: the East Coast and like had a lot of relationships
- 13:54Speaker 2: with a lot of those artists and so and and
- 13:58Speaker 2: like you said, like getting that had to be crazy
- 14:01Speaker 2: just working with Prodigy and.
- 14:02Speaker 6: We was moving and ship like yeah, we was really
- 14:05Speaker 6: moving around with Snoop as well like that to building relationships.
- 14:09Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, And it just came about you.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Guys have a lot of music with Nate who I
- 14:14Speaker 2: feel like we still haven't necessary I mean, there's been
- 14:17Speaker 2: artists who have come that have had like their grips
- 14:20Speaker 2: on being the hook guy in hip hop type dollar
- 14:23Speaker 2: Sign or a Conti paint, et cetera. I just feel
- 14:26Speaker 2: like they've never been the same since Nate passed away.
- 14:28Speaker 2: His son is really dope to in Hell's Dope and
- 14:30Speaker 2: sounds very But what can you tell me, because you
- 14:35Speaker 2: guys do have a lot of records with Nate. What
- 14:36Speaker 2: was it like just working with him?
- 14:38Speaker 3: Was it? And what was his writing process like?
- 14:41Speaker 4: M mmmm?
- 14:46Speaker 5: What Nate?
- 14:47Speaker 1: Nate added his own essence to the song. He didn't
- 14:51Speaker 1: really he directed songs more or less. He you know,
- 14:55Speaker 1: he was when he laid the hook. You was just
- 14:58Speaker 1: expected to follow what he late. He wouldn't come in
- 15:01Speaker 1: and be like, so, what we're talking about today?
- 15:03Speaker 5: Or you know?
- 15:04Speaker 4: Was it?
- 15:05Speaker 1: He would feel the track like most of us do,
- 15:08Speaker 1: and he would just do his thing, and everybody had
- 15:10Speaker 1: just follow suit because you know, when they.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Get on the track, it's pretty much a rap. So
- 15:16Speaker 4: it was always a pleasure.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Man.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I worked with him at his house, work with him
- 15:19Speaker 1: different studios. I was on I was on his U
- 15:22Speaker 1: his first time a g Folk Classics volume.
- 15:25Speaker 4: One The Bag of weeds.
- 15:26Speaker 1: So you know, I've been out of been out to
- 15:29Speaker 1: his people house with him and Clarksdale, Mississippi a couple
- 15:32Speaker 1: of times. So Nate was a good friend of mine
- 15:34Speaker 1: as well as a colleague appear you know, DPGC member.
- 15:39Speaker 4: He was dope, man. He was just dope all around.
- 15:41Speaker 4: And he wasn't no joke.
- 15:42Speaker 2: What was it like like because I feel like we
- 15:45Speaker 2: didn't see a lot of like Nate Dogg interviews because
- 15:47Speaker 2: he was kind of like he kind of felt like
- 15:49Speaker 2: an introvert a little bit he did. He wasn't out
- 15:52Speaker 2: there like everybody else.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Right, right, but he knew he was a bad motherfucker.
- 15:56Speaker 4: That's what he did.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Was there anything about like him that you think people
- 15:59Speaker 2: didn't really know about like because he seemed like you know,
- 16:02Speaker 2: we just I feel like I always saw the music videos,
- 16:03Speaker 2: didn't see a lot of interviews with him and ship
- 16:05Speaker 2: like he always felt like he was playing the cut.
- 16:07Speaker 4: You know. It was just a solid dude. Man.
- 16:10Speaker 1: He was a gangster in his hard you know, he
- 16:13Speaker 1: wasn't gonna let nobody playing play with him.
- 16:16Speaker 4: You know, he loved women.
- 16:18Speaker 1: You know you're getting you getting the limo with Nate
- 16:21Speaker 1: and it be eight women in there like these all mine, damn,
- 16:25Speaker 1: you know, so you know that's you know, they was
- 16:30Speaker 1: a player to the heart.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Man.
- 16:31Speaker 3: I don't even know biagra back then. They don't have
- 16:35Speaker 3: to be off that.
- 16:36Speaker 1: It was that Brown, was that Jack? Yeah, he asked
- 16:41Speaker 1: him here to see. That's all some weed. That's it.
- 16:44Speaker 1: That's all the bus for you go.
- 16:47Speaker 2: I'm curious when he ends up going to jail for
- 16:49Speaker 2: for as long as he was in prison for ten
- 16:50Speaker 2: and a half years. Like you said, where did like
- 16:53Speaker 2: did you kind of feel like ship because you guys
- 16:56Speaker 2: are moving together. You guys are known as the East Side.
- 16:57Speaker 2: It's like, how did you kind of maneuver it through
- 17:00Speaker 2: out that time of him being gone? And and like
- 17:02Speaker 2: did you ever lose any sort of motivation to do
- 17:04Speaker 2: the music full time or not?
- 17:07Speaker 5: Really?
- 17:08Speaker 6: It just just kept moving, you know, just keeping the
- 17:11Speaker 6: brand alive and you know, getting the merchandise going, and
- 17:14Speaker 6: you know, just start start doing different things, you know,
- 17:19Speaker 6: you know, and just and just getting some time out,
- 17:21Speaker 6: you know what I mean, to reflect on everything, and
- 17:24Speaker 6: you know, and just keeping that thing moving as much
- 17:26Speaker 6: as I can social wise, you know what I'm saying,
- 17:29Speaker 6: And just and just trying to keep everything moving.
- 17:32Speaker 5: You know, I still stayed active with Snoop. We did
- 17:34Speaker 5: the war.
- 17:35Speaker 6: Zone project m C A Cam you know what I'm saying.
- 17:38Speaker 6: Then I did an overseas joint with the dubstep music
- 17:41Speaker 6: so we just do steps.
- 17:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:43Speaker 6: I did a whole project with what you know what
- 17:45Speaker 6: I mean, soot shit.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:48Speaker 5: Man, they call dog and say, Man, that dude Goldie Man.
- 17:50Speaker 2: We needing you're rapping over dubsteck.
- 17:53Speaker 5: Man. I did a whole project.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Hey did you have Did you go toward that kind
- 17:56Speaker 3: of shit overseas? I should have because they are.
- 17:58Speaker 5: Still and still probably they waiting on me right now.
- 18:01Speaker 3: You go over there.
- 18:05Speaker 6: Wild yeah, man, But you know, to stay doing all
- 18:08Speaker 6: kinds of different things to stay motivated, you know what
- 18:11Speaker 6: I mean, and and wait for da touchdown so we could.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Do what we do, are you? I mean?
- 18:17Speaker 2: Obviously, I feel like we're in this kind of dope
- 18:20Speaker 2: moment of West Coast music where we just got you know,
- 18:24Speaker 2: Kendrick Calmars got the biggest song of the year, Tyler,
- 18:27Speaker 2: the creators got the number one song in the country.
- 18:31Speaker 2: You guys just dropped Dog Pound, just drop Why g
- 18:33Speaker 2: dropped this year? We uh we have this missionary album
- 18:38Speaker 2: coming out that's huge, which is gonna be big. I'm
- 18:42Speaker 2: just curious, like, how excited are you guys for everybody
- 18:44Speaker 2: to like finally hear this missionary album because I know
- 18:47Speaker 2: that Snoop had a listening session like last week of
- 18:50Speaker 2: the week before. I wasn't in town, but I'm hearing
- 18:52Speaker 2: it's amazing. Do you like if y'all feel like this
- 18:56Speaker 2: is like it's back in La now like that all
- 18:59Speaker 2: over again?
- 19:00Speaker 5: What it feels like to me all over again?
- 19:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Very invited me to up there to hear the album.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I saw him at the Olympics when they did the
- 19:08Speaker 1: closing ceremonial Long Beach, so he told me come put
- 19:11Speaker 1: my ear on it, and uh yeah, he went. He
- 19:14Speaker 1: went there sonically, you know what I mean. And it's
- 19:17Speaker 1: a it's a diverse project. It's a mature project, you know.
- 19:22Speaker 1: And you know Dre is always evolving as a producer,
- 19:27Speaker 1: so Dog trusted him to give him the soundscape of
- 19:33Speaker 1: what where he's seen him at musically, and I.
- 19:37Speaker 4: Think it worked for sure. I think it worked for
- 19:39Speaker 4: both of them. You know. Yo.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Uh Trady, I wanted to ask you because you've had
- 19:44Speaker 2: like your You're like, how much fans do you have
- 19:48Speaker 2: to come up to you in public that only know
- 19:50Speaker 2: you from your interviews because you're like your lad interviews
- 19:53Speaker 2: go pretty crazy, right right, So like there's probably people
- 19:57Speaker 2: who just come up to you because they saw you
- 19:58Speaker 2: like talk online, Like is that like a new thing
- 20:03Speaker 2: for you to like have, like this whole other fan
- 20:04Speaker 2: base that might not necessarily be hip to the East sides.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I see, I encountered different people here and there would
- 20:12Speaker 1: who would say that, like, you know, and I know
- 20:15Speaker 1: that's where they know me from because you can look
- 20:17Speaker 1: at them and tell they don't listen to the East
- 20:19Speaker 1: side of the caster wrap.
- 20:21Speaker 4: Well you know you could, you could, you know.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Guess that they probably wouldn't. And you know, it's good,
- 20:30Speaker 1: you know, it's good that people appreciate my perspective on things,
- 20:35Speaker 1: me being who I am, because you know, I don't
- 20:37Speaker 1: try to be politically correct or know it all or
- 20:40Speaker 1: nothing like that. You know, I just speak from the
- 20:42Speaker 1: heart about different things that we discuss. And you know,
- 20:46Speaker 1: we had we had a pretty good run, you know,
- 20:48Speaker 1: four or five years sitting up you know, discussing the
- 20:52Speaker 1: latest and things like that. So I think that helped
- 20:55Speaker 1: people get to know my personality, know as outside of
- 21:01Speaker 1: just music, outside of my bars.
- 21:04Speaker 4: So it helped. It worked.
- 21:06Speaker 1: And you know, I'm not really out there like that
- 21:10Speaker 1: in the streets moving around for a lot of people
- 21:12Speaker 1: to see me and and and approach me. You know,
- 21:14Speaker 1: I really just come out when it's time to make
- 21:16Speaker 1: a move or get some dough.
- 21:17Speaker 2: You also, I follow you, I've been following you for
- 21:20Speaker 2: some years on Instagram. And you work out a lot,
- 21:24Speaker 2: You'll be fucking jacked, like doing the fucking prison workouts
- 21:27Speaker 2: in the backyard and ship dog like that should be
- 21:29Speaker 2: having me motivated.
- 21:31Speaker 3: I like, I'm like, damn trading. I don't know how
- 21:33Speaker 3: old you are, but you know I'm thirty seven.
- 21:37Speaker 2: But I'm like, man, if Trady could be out here
- 21:38Speaker 2: fucking getting it in looking like a goddamn rock, I
- 21:41Speaker 2: need to figure my ship out. Are you Are you
- 21:47Speaker 2: with him on the fitness or are you slap?
- 21:48Speaker 3: Do you slip it?
- 21:50Speaker 5: Okay?
- 21:50Speaker 3: Okay, so you work out too here and there, here
- 21:53Speaker 3: and there, but not like him.
- 21:54Speaker 2: I just move around because this guy he's doing get
- 21:58Speaker 2: his burpy's in the programs, and.
- 22:02Speaker 5: I want you not getting my curlan. I do certain
- 22:07Speaker 5: things here and there when I feel I got to
- 22:09Speaker 5: tighten them up, you know what I mean? He stay
- 22:11Speaker 5: on it though. You know I used to be on
- 22:13Speaker 5: that ship too all the time. My brother.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I seen the dumb bells and the man came,
- 22:16Speaker 1: you know, came out still sucking around.
- 22:18Speaker 5: Don't get it to it. We still pushing that line.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I do feel like there are a few guys like
- 22:26Speaker 2: in like the landscape of West Coast history who get
- 22:28Speaker 2: a little slept on, and I think Cocaine's one of them.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Butch Cassidy is one of them. But Cassidy is on
- 22:33Speaker 2: the new project. I think he's I mean he's been
- 22:37Speaker 2: on some just classics, especially with Snoop. Uh what was
- 22:40Speaker 2: it like kind of getting back with him and making
- 22:42Speaker 2: sure he was he was included on the new EP.
- 22:45Speaker 1: We were all in the studio recording and he was
- 22:47Speaker 1: doing his solo project then and.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Snoop was playing us some tracks.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And had you left that day, Godie, or was you
- 22:57Speaker 1: still there?
- 22:57Speaker 5: I was still there working on but you had to
- 23:00Speaker 5: I think.
- 23:00Speaker 4: You had to go ahead.
- 23:02Speaker 5: It was it was his birthday party exactly.
- 23:05Speaker 1: So Snoop played that track that gangs the fire track,
- 23:11Speaker 1: and I just seen Butch Cassidy walk out the room
- 23:14Speaker 1: and go back to his session, and I was like,
- 23:17Speaker 1: he has to get on this song, right if I'm
- 23:21Speaker 1: fucking with this track?
- 23:23Speaker 4: And I am. I'm like, no, we.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Got what studio in in the starship, but come on
- 23:30Speaker 1: down here. I said, yeah, you know, tired of the
- 23:34Speaker 1: track gangs to five man, do your thing?
- 23:36Speaker 3: What you want?
- 23:37Speaker 4: He did his thing.
- 23:39Speaker 1: That's that's that's like that and uh that I told
- 23:44Speaker 1: Anne this song, it's just the vibe of those songs
- 23:47Speaker 1: kind of like, you know, take me there.
- 23:50Speaker 4: So it was dope me.
- 23:52Speaker 6: But you know he cousins when they dog, they come
- 23:55Speaker 6: from the same church. Yeah, oh crazy, Yeah, yeah, they
- 23:58Speaker 6: come from the same first cousin.
- 24:01Speaker 5: Yo.
- 24:01Speaker 2: How fun was it shooting the I Love It music video?
- 24:06Speaker 2: Because that is one of the like that's a legendary video,
- 24:11Speaker 2: y'all like that.
- 24:13Speaker 3: How fun was that day?
- 24:16Speaker 4: Man? I don't even know when I caught up with you.
- 24:20Speaker 1: I think I I think I came. I think I
- 24:22Speaker 1: came with a couple of homies and we parked on
- 24:24Speaker 1: the other side and we were just seeing all that
- 24:26Speaker 1: activity and everything.
- 24:27Speaker 4: It was a little bit late, but you know, he
- 24:29Speaker 4: had Gary.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Coleman resting that video was crazy.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yeah, he was doing all these different characters and ship
- 24:36Speaker 1: and that's when I found out I couldn't run fifty
- 24:39Speaker 1: yards for.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Me with the that's funny right here.
- 24:45Speaker 4: And when I spinned bringing back there. So yeah, we
- 24:48Speaker 4: had a ball though. Man.
- 24:49Speaker 1: It was just just just having you know, the comedic
- 24:54Speaker 1: side of everything and then you know, having such a
- 24:57Speaker 1: good song, a feel good song, a feel good video
- 25:01Speaker 1: with it. I think they helped prepare us to when
- 25:04Speaker 1: we went, you know, double platinum.
- 25:06Speaker 5: Great record.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Yeah, that's biggest, bigger than.
- 25:10Speaker 4: I think that was the big I think that was
- 25:12Speaker 4: the big big.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:14Speaker 2: I want to get your guys' take because we have
- 25:17Speaker 2: like where I feel like sometimes when we think about
- 25:19Speaker 2: West Coast hip hop, we always kind of forget to
- 25:23Speaker 2: include Tyler the creator in those conversations. And he's like
- 25:27Speaker 2: a part of this like new generation of kids who
- 25:30Speaker 2: grew up in LA but don't necessarily sound like traditional
- 25:33Speaker 2: West Coast gangster rap. I just wonder, like, what are
- 25:35Speaker 2: your guys take on a guy like Tyler who's fuck man.
- 25:39Speaker 2: When it's all said and done, he you know, he
- 25:40Speaker 2: might be on that Mount Rushmore next to like Snoop
- 25:42Speaker 2: and Cube and those guys, Like, what do you guys
- 25:44Speaker 2: think about Tyler? Like, are you guys vans? You guys ever?
- 25:47Speaker 3: Like you know, you know, not folks would.
- 25:55Speaker 1: New music. I gravitate to the or prominent songs that's
- 26:03Speaker 1: out there.
- 26:03Speaker 4: You know.
- 26:04Speaker 1: And I'm not really regional in my taste of music.
- 26:08Speaker 4: You know.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I bumped some South shit, I bumped East Coast shit,
- 26:12Speaker 1: I bump all ship all that shit. So as far
- 26:15Speaker 1: as being into Tyler Creator as an artist, I'm very
- 26:19Speaker 1: aware of who he is, but his music. I haven't
- 26:23Speaker 1: locked in on him as an artist to be able
- 26:25Speaker 1: to even critique, right, you know that. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 26:31Speaker 1: be honest. You know, I ain't gonna sit there and
- 26:32Speaker 1: act like you know, oh yeah, I'm not gonna do that.
- 26:36Speaker 2: There was this list that came out that beat out
- 26:40Speaker 2: Did he Broke Down? Like the top ten West Coast
- 26:42Speaker 2: albums of all time? And I think number one, I
- 26:46Speaker 2: forget who he had is number one? Was it the
- 26:48Speaker 2: chronic he had the Chronics number one? Doggy Styles number two.
- 26:51Speaker 2: I think I did my own and I put Doggy
- 26:54Speaker 2: Styles number one because I think it's just like again,
- 26:57Speaker 2: doggy Style and everything else. It's really like for me
- 27:01Speaker 2: for like with that with everything you know? Uh, but
- 27:04Speaker 2: what what? What are your guys' top three West Coast
- 27:07Speaker 2: albums each of y'all all time?
- 27:12Speaker 5: Mm hmm on you get your trade off. I'm thinking.
- 27:19Speaker 4: West costs all time? Definitely the chronic America's most wanted
- 27:30Speaker 4: and all lies on me.
- 27:32Speaker 5: I respect it.
- 27:33Speaker 3: No, doggy style.
- 27:37Speaker 4: The chronic interesting?
- 27:39Speaker 3: No, no, no, you picture three now your.
- 27:41Speaker 5: Chron chronic for show n W A which album?
- 27:49Speaker 4: Which one.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Man?
- 27:51Speaker 5: All that ship to be? I grew up on all
- 27:54Speaker 5: that stuff. But man and yeah and damn man, and.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Just say doggy style. It's doggy style. What are we
- 28:08Speaker 3: doing here again? Dogtown?
- 28:11Speaker 5: Yeah, Doggystown. Gotta go with Dogistyle, all right.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I respect the America's most Wanted choice. I put that
- 28:18Speaker 2: certificate over America's Most Wanted. But I understand why America's
- 28:20Speaker 2: most wanted is your pick. It's a great album. Class right,
- 28:25Speaker 2: went to the East Coast. Work with those producers, changed
- 28:27Speaker 2: up all kind of shit.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean you broadened the sound.
- 28:29Speaker 1: When you take the sound somewhere, it's like what you
- 28:31Speaker 1: did with deuces and trays, you know what I mean.
- 28:34Speaker 1: We showed that we were beyond just three local act
- 28:38Speaker 1: you know what I mean, And we could trade boards
- 28:41Speaker 1: with Prodigy and you know Sister that caliber, you know,
- 28:46Speaker 1: Havoc and things like that. So you know the elevation
- 28:50Speaker 1: and the evolution that always impresses me and music and originality.
- 28:55Speaker 2: We're in a great time because ice Cube just dropped,
- 28:58Speaker 2: Snoops dropping, you guys just dropped.
- 29:00Speaker 3: We got a new Dog Pound album this year.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Uh exhibit exhibit exhibits on the way or just dropped. Okay,
- 29:07Speaker 2: shout out to X. It just feels like the West
- 29:10Speaker 2: Coast is back two their.
- 29:13Speaker 5: Back two thousand all over again.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Boy, y'all got.
- 29:15Speaker 2: To do a new Cali is Active, like twenty twenty
- 29:18Speaker 2: four with a new video, because think about it the
- 29:21Speaker 2: old like were you locked up when Kelly's Active came out?
- 29:24Speaker 2: You saw the music video, it was like everybody in
- 29:27Speaker 2: their mom from LA was in that mother except you obviously.
- 29:30Speaker 2: But but twenty twenty four, let's plant that seeding Snoop's head,
- 29:36Speaker 2: like Yo is.
- 29:37Speaker 5: Coming twenty twenty four, but give me a knapkin, but
- 29:40Speaker 5: it's coming.
- 29:41Speaker 3: And it was kind of shitting here trendy ac and you're.
- 29:43Speaker 5: About to see it.
- 29:44Speaker 6: Uh in the in the shows too, like the concerts
- 29:47Speaker 6: and stuff were pulling it all all the way around.
- 29:49Speaker 5: I'm assuming.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, look y'all man snooping on the road
- 29:52Speaker 2: so much doing this thing. Well, look, I appreciate y'all.
- 29:56Speaker 2: The new EP is out right now, go say East
- 29:59Speaker 2: still East? Uh? Any videos on the way? I know
- 30:03Speaker 2: you guys already three? I just watched one today. So
- 30:07Speaker 2: is there anything that isn't out yet? Do you guys
- 30:09Speaker 2: already shot?
- 30:11Speaker 4: No?
- 30:12Speaker 1: No, we we pretty much just dropped everything as a
- 30:16Speaker 1: you know, as a package deal.
- 30:17Speaker 4: Were back.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Here go three videos, Here go to EP. You know,
- 30:22Speaker 1: wait on the whole thing because it's coming.
- 30:24Speaker 3: There it is, you know, he said, I appreciate you.
- 30:26Speaker 4: Ill appreciate you.
