Transcript
- 0:19Welcome inside the Treehouse. It is time to leave your worries outside and join
- 0:24me. Daniel Malley, Trade Trendholm and newly inducted Treehouse law enforcement Officer Raj
- 0:33Sharma. Yeah, when you fight crime in this Treehouse, you get recognized.
- 0:41Thank you. You know, I didn't use the word hero, and
- 0:46I don't think I did either, neither did the cops. But I will
- 0:49tell you, but they said thanks for the help. So if you haven't
- 0:58heard it yet, do us a do yourself a favor, go to patreon
- 1:03dot com slash Treehouse on air. You can hear all about how our hero
- 1:08Raj or from here on to be known as the Bollywood Batman, stop the
- 1:14crime dead in its tracks. And when the criminals said, who are you,
- 1:19Raj said, what's up? I'm brown man. I'm just a guy
- 1:26on a phone talking to the police telling them, can you please come and
- 1:32stop this guy from from from doing all the bad stuff that he's doing.
- 1:37So maybe it was maybe it was all those Bollywood hero movies that you've been
- 1:41posting on Instagram. So it got into you, It got into your veins,
- 1:45into your soul, and so when you saw this man doing bad,
- 1:48you like the Indian Hulk tore all your clothing and saved the day. Wait,
- 1:56I'd like to contribute it to this show and how much we you know,
- 2:00we admire and do things for police and fire and how they respond in
- 2:06kindness to us and how much they do for us. And I was like,
- 2:08you know what, this would be one of those things where I have
- 2:13a new growing up. You know, you know, as a personal calor,
- 2:15I've been stopped a lot for no reason and all that stuff, So
- 2:17you have a distrust of police and this show has can of change that for
- 2:22me. And so I was like, you know what, I'm gonna call
- 2:23these people and I didn't want to. Like in my head, I'm like
- 2:27they're gonna pull up and like they're gonna arrest me, like throw me on
- 2:29the ground. I'm like I'm the one calling. I'm on the right.
- 2:36But yeah, I think it's a I years ago, I probably would have
- 2:40let it go. Like, you know, there's insurance on these things,
- 2:43and there's that, and there's this not always not on those things. Did
- 2:46you do a snazzy little dance number though, and and any point in this
- 2:51which is weird, we did, and the cops knew the routine, which
- 2:53was very strange. So it turns out the Bollywood films are accurate to life.
- 3:00Had we had the whole the whole end of slum Dog Millionaire. We
- 3:02just did it right there on Trinity Bills, kids crawling out of the crapper
- 3:07knowing the entire routine. It was really weird. I'm like, you guys
- 3:13know this too, and they're like, how'd you know? I was like,
- 3:15let's get this going. And the criminal doing the same dance was the
- 3:17handcuffs. It was very sweet. It was a nice sendoff for found his
- 3:23new found home in jail. Well. I wonder though, I wonder if
- 3:30in jail and eventually prison where it sounds like he's going to end up.
- 3:37Yes, the winter storm back in twenty twenty one, a lot of the
- 3:43people that did not lose power, it was because they were on the same
- 3:46grids as hospitals, police stations, fire houses. So that means if you're
- 3:53in jail, you're probably gonna have heat correct, whereas the rest of US
- 4:00law abiding citizens froze our asses off thanks to Rkott And as if things couldn't
- 4:08get worse for the public relations nightmare that is Erkott, the Electric Reliability Council
- 4:14of Texas the most ill formed entity in the entire state. Do you think
- 4:18they when they say that out loud, to actually say out the acronym,
- 4:23they just giggle reliability? I think they do. And then I think right
- 4:29after that in a meeting when everyone laughed, hr Sonata memo said, you
- 4:32can't use the R word anymore. That's now off the table. Don't use
- 4:38it, just go like, you know, Electric Council of Texas. Hey,
- 4:43you gotta give them credit. They put the lie in reliability. Well,
- 4:50said raj And had you said that in like twenty twenty five minutes,
- 4:55we wait have ended the show on that. But as it is, we
- 5:00have a little bit. But you'll forget I'll say it again, that's true.
- 5:02Yeah, usually as a call back at the end of the show.
- 5:04So like, if you're listening right now, in like twenty ish minutes,
- 5:08skip ahead, Rajh's going to say something very similar and it's gonna still be
- 5:12hysterical, and then we're going to end the show and everyone's going to be
- 5:14happy on a Monday. But you're not wrong, Urkott. I remember seeing
- 5:20the news story, you know, maybe a month or two ago that Urkott
- 5:25said, hey, when you know, kind of like Ned Stark In almost
- 5:31said Lord of the Flies in Game of Thrones. Kind of like the Starks
- 5:36and Game of Thrones. He's up there saying brace yourselves, winter is coming,
- 5:40and Urkott says, we're ready and h Then the most recent headline,
- 5:45which might be one of my favorites ever, Yeah, Urkott cancels program to
- 5:48boost power reserves ahead of potentially precarious winter. I'm going to rephrase that slightly
- 5:56shorter. Rkott cancels planning. Yeah. Yes, uh. And the logic
- 6:03behind this is it is not winter hasn't shown up yet, and so they're
- 6:09like, hey, everything's good. I'm like you do there, there's another
- 6:13year coming. Maybe maybe that's the new R that they've redefined in kut so
- 6:19instead of reliability, which they're obviously not allowed to use, at least not
- 6:24with us in the public. Maybe it's I lost my train of thought.
- 6:30What was it you said? Oh? No, I was They basically was
- 6:33like I think I think if I read it right, They're like, well,
- 6:36it hasn't been a rough winter yet, so we don't have to boost
- 6:40our reserves, right, which means the R in there now stands for uh
- 6:46reactionary. Yes, like like they should be EPCOT proactive, but they're not.
- 6:51They're cut, they're reactive, and that leaves a bunch of us frozen
- 6:55in our houses to starve and die in some cases. Yeah, I'm lucky
- 7:00in the when the first one happened, same grid as the hospital, and
- 7:04then when we moved to this place, same grid as two hospitals in a
- 7:10surgery center. So the full story on this is Urkott has actually sought mothballed
- 7:16and decommissioned power plants to fire up for the winter, but none of them
- 7:21were willing to reactivate. They basically called around to all these different energy companies
- 7:28and asked them, hey, will you turn this old plant on? And
- 7:34then those companies basically said yeah, if you pay us, And then Urkott
- 7:39said, well we don't, we don't really do that, and they and
- 7:41then the the energy provider said well we don't really do that either, So
- 7:45now they're just stuck. Yeah. I like how they had a plan but
- 7:49didn't check to see if the plan was the plan go ahead. Drey just
- 7:56didn't want to pay for the plan. Yeah, I guess. I guess.
- 7:59I guess they you know, got on you know, group on and
- 8:01thought maybe they could do something else. No, they actually thought that these
- 8:07energy companies, who are in the business of making money would actually volunteer.
- 8:11They're they're old plants and you know, pull the pull the cover off of
- 8:16it, blow off the dust bunnies, and flip it on just because Erkott
- 8:20asked nicely. And that's not how it typically works. R Coott is Oliver
- 8:24walking to the front with the ball asking for more porridge, and the energy
- 8:28company goes more and they say, uh, very well done with the Oliver
- 8:35twist reference man, thank you. I am occasionally cultured. Yeah that was,
- 8:43but now that I've but now that I've been mildly cultured, now I'm
- 8:46going to completely debase myself by comparing Rkott two to an act that I mentioned
- 8:56they should do in the summer. So I'm going to bring that back right
- 8:58now. So saying hey, we're ready for winter, they said the same
- 9:01thing in the summer or pre summer, they say we're ready for summer,
- 9:05and guess what they weren't. And at that time, what did I tell
- 9:09them, You guys need to go eat a bag of dicks. Why,
- 9:11because you're telling us to conserve and not use our air conditioning because we're sweating
- 9:16balls. No, you get it figured out. The more you tell us
- 9:18not to do something, the more we want to do the thing. Now
- 9:22they're telling us we're ready for winter. All right, Urcott, it's time
- 9:26to break out your bib because you're about to eat a whole bunch of dicks.
- 9:28I want you, I want you to be ready. It's gonna be
- 9:31like a crab boil. You're gonna throw a bunch of dicks in a pot
- 9:33with some seasoning and potatoes and some corn. Then you're gonna invite the neighborhood
- 9:39over for a backyard dick boil. You're gonna throw them all out onto the
- 9:43table on some newspaper and you're gonna dick through. I use that intentionally.
- 9:48And you're gonna eat the meat and you're gonna struck the head, and then
- 9:50the kids are gonna be in a dry pool playing with them before they get
- 9:54eaten. Wow, Okay, I mean there's I mean, very very vivid
- 9:58imagine was not an imagination. I want this to happen. I wanted to
- 10:03come to fruition. I want the entire Council of Urkot lined up at a
- 10:09dick table and eat them all every time they say we're ready. Yeah,
- 10:13okay, I just uh. All I did was I just turned the heat
- 10:18on and open all the windows. That's all I'm doing. Joke's on you,
- 10:26because across the street is the dick boil. Just all those essences just
- 10:33filling your nose coming across the street. And you know it, you know
- 10:37the smell you're likes having a party. I thought it was just a Papa

- 13:26thank you to our lovely sponsors. Thank you to Rage for saving the day,
- 13:31you continuing to provide us with stellar content, although at this point I
- 13:37kind of wish they'd just do their job. And speaking of doing your job,
- 13:43I think we all can agree one of the most difficult jobs there is
- 13:48on the planet is teacher. Oh yeah. I don't know how many teachers
- 13:54you guys know or have known in your lives, but I come from a
- 13:58fan family of teachers. My grandmother was a teacher, my mom for a
- 14:03while was a teacher, my aunt, my father started out as a teacher,
- 14:09And so I know what teachers go through on many levels, and I
- 14:18understand when they snap, and I'm a little bit biased and when I say
- 14:22a little bit biased. I'm almost every single time going to side with the
- 14:26teacher. There are exceptions, don't get me wrong. There, Like any
- 14:30profession, there are some bad ones and they do and say some things they
- 14:31shouldn't, But for the most part, underpaid, underappreciated, it's really a
- 14:37hilacious job. Yep. And after the COVID lockdowns. And I say this
- 14:43because at the time, I was living with my ex and her two children.
- 14:48And if you didn't gain an enormous amount of respect for teachers after the
- 14:52COVID lockdown, and you were trying to teach your kids at home, then
- 14:56you're an idiot because that out, you know, it killed almost kills a
- 15:01lot of people, a lot of kids. So yeah, home schooling,
- 15:07not the COVID. Yeah, COVID was looking like a good option at a
- 15:13certain point, if like, if that's where like if I was in that
- 15:16situation and I and I got like three four kids staring back at me and
- 15:20they're expecting me to teach them some stuff like you go to school, yeah,
- 15:24or you know what you used to hear, I'm gonna go to school.
- 15:26I'd rather take my chances with with the VID. Yeah, my girlfriend
- 15:33all through college. She graduated and became a teacher, and I remember going
- 15:37to visit her in her class, and uh, they didn't They had to
- 15:39buy their own. And I don't know if this is still true, but
- 15:41they have to buy their own. Like if you want to do crafts or
- 15:45projects or stuff with the kids, you have to buy your own stuff.
- 15:48So, like all the crayons and all the the paper stuff that you got
- 15:52to buy, she had to buy all. So I ended up I was
- 15:54like, let me just do that, let me let me buy it.
- 15:56And I bought their stuff for the year, which was only a couple hundred
- 15:58bucks. But I'm like, you have to pay for this out of pocket
- 16:00and you're not getting paid that much. So, yes, they do have
- 16:04a tendency, and they drink a lot. I don't know if you've ever
- 16:07been with a group of teachers, but yeah, the drink a lot.
- 16:11Yeah, it's fantastic if you get a chance to drink with teachers or go
- 16:15to rehab pick the ladder. You know. It's like as a kid,
- 16:19you never wanted to go to like the parent teacher conferences that you had to
- 16:23go to and you had to sit outside while while your parents, and the
- 16:26teacher talked about you. But as an adult, Yeah, there's like a
- 16:30like an actual teacher's conference someplace. I got a hotel somewhere, and I
- 16:33don't even know if they're allowed in Vegas, because Vegas might be like no,
- 16:36no, no, no, Yeah, we can't how many teachers at
- 16:40once, But if you can't, that would be a party to go to
- 16:41because they are seem Yeah. I had a buddy mine who was a teacher.
- 16:47He used to teach at the juvenile detention center, so all the like
- 16:51really bad kids, they still have to go to school. And he's like,
- 16:53hey, man, come to my house. There's a party. And
- 16:56I was like, okay, this is going to be me and a bunch
- 16:57of teachers. And I went, wow, that sounds boring. And I
- 17:02walked into his house and I can't even make this up and it's burned into
- 17:04my brain. I walked in and there's a lady's standing there, Uh,
- 17:07sweater, no pants, shoes. That means she had taken her shoes off,
- 17:14to take her pants off and then put her shoes back on. Uh.
- 17:15And she has an industrial size of cess sized bottle of Jaeger. And
- 17:21I've never met this lady before I just opened the door and this is all
- 17:23I see. And she looks at me and she goes buckle the f up,
- 17:26and I was like, and I just remember slowly shutting the door and
- 17:32going back to my car. I'm like, I can't. I'm leaving,
- 17:34Like, really, I have to. I have to. I have to
- 17:38see what she means. I have to go in and experience that. I
- 17:41to see what she means by buckle the f up because ironically she can't buckle
- 17:45anything. She's not wearing any pants. Yeah, and then I called my
- 17:48buddy Richie the next day and I was like, how's the party goes,
- 17:51dude? I woke up in the tub and I was like, yep,
- 17:52that's why I left. And he was wearing her sweater. She was wearing
- 18:00his hats. So the other day. I don't know how viral this went,
- 18:07but it was definitely major in North Texas because nowadays, if a teacher
- 18:12snaps in a classroom, you're not just having students witness it, because nowadays
- 18:18the students all have their own phones, which means they can record, slash,
- 18:22live stream this stuff. So when teachers snap these days, it usually
- 18:27ends up online for everyone to witness as opposed to just the kids in the
- 18:30classroom. So this latest incident, and I haven't had a chance to completely
- 18:38verify this, so I'm going off of internet knowledge. Here and captioned,
- 18:42this is a teacher at Raulett High School and he just I don't know what
- 18:48preceded this. I don't know what's happened since I just know what happens in
- 18:53this moment where he absolutely loses his mind because and his word words, he's
- 19:00tired of being disrespected. I got it. What are you doing? So
- 19:12that's a chair he just kicked across the room? Mm hmmm. And I
- 19:17think in the beginning he actually mentioned something about, uh, you're making me
- 19:19bring hell fire on you, which if that's for a teacher, that's a
- 19:23hell of a catchphrase. M what are you doing? That's where he uh
- 19:41uh, you know, Bobby Knight like threw the chair across the court.
- 19:45This guy showed up Bobby Knight because he saw the chair, kicked that bitch
- 19:48across the room, and then he went over to it, picked it up,
- 19:52slammed it back down on the ground again, and we all realized,
- 19:56in the teacher's mind, he wants that to be the kid, but it
- 20:00can only be the chair type of ship. I'm proud of it. God
- 20:08damn almost don't very nicely told you what to do. I had to touch
- 20:15you, got damn it. You won't even it. Now. What's bad
- 20:21about this is you have some kids that are uh just you have two.
- 20:26You have two kinds of kids in that classroom, ones that are witnessing,
- 20:30that are kind of shocked and like, oh my god, what do we
- 20:32do? Don't move? And then there's the kid who's laughing at the whole
- 20:34thing. He just thinks the whole thing is hysterical. And that kid is
- 20:38next to the kid that this teacher's screaming at. Nice told you what to
- 20:45do. I had to touch you, got it. You won't even trust
- 20:52it to anything else to me, don't come across you know. It's serious.
- 21:04When when there are two things that get thrown out, one is dude,
- 21:11there was no dude here, this this was not a dude situation.
- 21:15The other is when you throw goddamn in the middle of stuff where it doesn't
- 21:19normally fit. And that's what he does. Here there and here. Listen
- 21:22to this again. Enough is a goddamn enough, Yeah, yeah, ray,
- 21:33I'm curious, is the video to this. I saw a clip,
- 21:37I didn't hear the audio. Is it is this guy? And then is
- 21:41there another adult kind of holding him back? No, this is this is
- 21:45a free arrange teacher, okay, which which for the students, you got
- 21:51to keep in mind. If he's like it starts with a chair, don't
- 21:53push him. That's where the kid who's laughing doesn't understand what could happen because
- 21:59you keep laughing at the event and you may become the chair. It could
- 22:02escalate in the blink of an eye. Yeah, that's because there is there
- 22:07is something that the newer generations. There is a concept that they do not
- 22:12understand. And I say this and it's work, school, everything. And
- 22:17it's a principle we learned because we didn't want to get our asses whipped.
- 22:21And the principle is fly below the radar. So yeah, not only not
- 22:27only does it occasionally work as a program director of the Eagle, but it
- 22:34is also sage advice for school survivability. Yes, and this is also one
- 22:41of those things where if you ever in your life have wondered, man,
- 22:45I wonder what Samuel L. Jackson would be like as a teacher. This
- 22:49is this is that, this is his this was his Snakes on a Plane,
- 22:55Like, yeah, this is the teacher snakes on a plane. But
- 23:00the next step is this is gonna be Sam. Sam Jackson's like next Oscar,
- 23:03right because now he's got to play this guy and it's gonna be great.
- 23:08I'm gonna be lined up to see it opening night. The name of
- 23:12that movie. He's had a goddamn noth but it really does. It goes
- 23:18back to saying teachers are not appreciated for how difficult of a job they have.
- 23:23And that's true. I don't care where you are, whether it's role
- 23:26at high school or South central LA. The job is hard. You're Dan,
- 23:33I believe I sent you this news article in the UH and and this
- 23:38can't be a surprise as to what state it is. There's one state where
- 23:41teachers are just saying screw it and they're leaving the state. And he goes,
- 23:47wow, Okay, so you said there was no surprise as to where
- 23:52it was. So I'm gonna go out on a limb with this show.
- 23:56And so is it our favorite state? Florida? Absolutely? Congratulations, ding
- 24:03ding ding ding ding. They're just leaving they're just like, well, we're
- 24:07done teaching basically. Yeah, They're like, we're leaving. There's there's there's
- 24:15greener pastures elsewhere. Yeah. This guy's like this guy's got kicking a chair
- 24:19and they're like kicking counties looking good to Florida teachers. Oh god, that's
- 24:34that's a frightening thought, the education mecca of the United States, because i
- 24:41mean, like, like like Davy Crockett said, you may all go to
- 24:45Hell, and I'm going to Texas. Florida teachers are saying we're going to
- 24:48Alabama. You're listening to the Treehouse. Visit us online that Treehouse on air
- 25:07dot com. Let's talk to Daniel Cook from cook DFW Roofing and Restoration for
- 25:15your free roof inspection. Give them a call eight three to three cook DFW
- 25:18or the website cookidfw dot com for all the amazing work that they do and
- 25:22have done. Right now, I'm curious, though, Daniel, we're getting
- 25:26into the height of the holiday season. We've got Thanksgiving behind us, We've
- 25:30got things, We've got Thanksgiving behind us, we have Christmas and New Year's
- 25:34coming up. Some curious, what's your favorite part of the holiday season?
- 25:38What's definitely changed over the years when you're a parent. My two girls are
- 25:42much older now, twenty three and seventeen, but obviously in the younger days,
- 25:47it was always fun watching them get up and wake up and have all
- 25:51that excitement in their face to go see the presence that morning and to see
- 25:55what's happened, and still believing in Santa Claus, and so that was the
- 26:00deal. Now as you get older, now it becomes where we like to
- 26:03get with our friends and other family members, and I think, honestly,
- 26:08the favorite time is the white Christmas gifts because you never know what the hell,
- 26:15oh excuse me, sorry, what the heck you can find in some
- 26:18of those white Christmas gifts. Okay, I've seen like s and m mask
- 26:26and body suits come out. I've seen like specialty shot glasses, adult toys,
- 26:33you know, all these weird apparatuses, and it's like, you know,
- 26:38that's some of the best fun ever is watching all these most innocent people
- 26:41that you think, all of a sudden get into a room together and have
- 26:45a little bit of alcohol involved, and everybody brings these most silliest white elephant
- 26:49gifts and it's it's it's it's a classic. I tell you, we're actually
- 26:53thinking of doing that at the road show coming up on Saturday, December night
- 26:57at Shakerson. So it's going to be a shame you're going to miss it
- 27:00because I have a feeling we're going to have some very outline just gifts exchange,
- 27:06but we'll tech photos and video and we'll send it to you. How
- 27:07about that, please? I'm still I know that if I was there,
- 27:11I know what I would have. I would have a T shirt or a
- 27:15hoodie letting everybody know that I'm hotter than bear Spray. Still, I won't
- 27:19get over that. It's funny you mention that because we're going to have those
- 27:22shirts available at the event. One thing you can do for a White Elephant
- 27:26gift exchange if you were just flat ass broke, what you can do is
- 27:30write on a sheet of paper free roof inspection from COOKDFW Roofing and Restoration and
- 27:36convince people you paid hundreds of dollars for it, just to let them know
- 27:38that you got it for free and you found out about it here in the
- 27:41Treehouse. So give Daniel Cook a call for that free roof inspection eight three
- 27:45to three Cook DFW or the website cookdfw dot com. It's the Treehouse.
- 27:52Fresh off of her Caribbean cruise vacation, Jacqueline from Brooks Plumbing is back inside
- 27:56the Treehouse in her normal fashion, and we want to talk to her now
- 28:00about a couple of things. One, how did you like your trip?
- 28:03And two, speaking of trips, I believe you're all the guys that work
- 28:07for Brooks Plumbing or having their fishing trip right. Yes, I am really
- 28:12happy that I went to the Caribbean and that I'm not on their boat because
- 28:17they're on Lake Texoma today and it's very nice out here. But they went
- 28:21very early. Boat took off early, and I got a phone call from
- 28:23a couple of them. We're pulling back in now and they're literally going to
- 28:26do some phallic measuring. They're going to lay out the fish and see who
- 28:32got the biggest fish, and then there's gonna be some sort of an awards
- 28:36ceremony and bragging rights. And my guys like to have fun, so I
- 28:38think they all threw in like ten dollars each and whoever got the biggest fish
- 28:41is going to take the pot home, and so they're having a really good
- 28:45time. But you could not. I don't like the cold. I'm definitely
- 28:48like a tropical person. Saint John of Tulsa is the most beautiful, one
- 28:52of the most beautiful places I've ever been. And I used to live in
- 28:56Hawaii for a very brief period of time, and I'm very happy to know
- 28:59that there's an eland that pretty half the distance from from home. So I'm
- 29:03sorry, I'll be around a lot. No no, please do. And
- 29:06one of the big takeaways from this conversation we're having is that you can know
- 29:11as a possible or current client of Brooks Plumbing. They they work hard and
- 29:17they also enjoy themselves, so they're good people, like to have a good
- 29:19time and most of all, take care of you. Two one four three

- 30:07story that you sent. Trey pulled up the headline does its job. Teachers
- 30:12say they can't live and work in Florida anymore. They start with a teacher
- 30:21named Philip bill Castro. He looked around his belongings piled with the storage unit.
- 30:26Boxes of books, the mattress, clothes, and old instruments from his
- 30:29past life as a musician were cluttered together. This is my entire life in
- 30:33a ten x ten storage unit, he said, laughing. The Saint Petersburg
- 30:37High School English teacher moved out of his apartment this summer after rent increased to
- 30:41more than half of his monthly pay, reluctant to leave the community. Cost
- 30:44of living got out of control. And the schools suck. And when they
- 30:56say the schools, you know they mean the kids when they say the kids
- 31:00and the schools. A lot of times just the parents, because the parents
- 31:04can be way worse than the kids, because parents think their kids are little
- 31:07angels, or they're aware, Like I joke about things on stage like this,
- 31:14and I'm like, because I'll ask teachers, I'm like, and they're
- 31:18reluctant to do it, but I have to remind them that they're in a
- 31:21safe space. I'm like, so your teacher, yeah, well grade,
- 31:22I'm like six. I'm like, who's your favorite student? Oh so,
- 31:26And so immediately they have their favorite student, they go who's the worst and
- 31:29they go, oh, I can't say, I go, I know,
- 31:30but you want to, so say it. And immediately the name comes out,
- 31:33and I go, are the parents nice and he's a dick? Or
- 31:37is it are they just all dicks? And nine times out of ten it's
- 31:40they're all dicks, Like the parents are the same way as the kid.
- 31:45And then sometimes it's just you have one bad kid and he just ruins the
- 31:49whole class. The thing is, like, you hear about these problems here,
- 31:56like in India, in Asia especially, like your teachers can beat in
- 32:00class, beat you, like still to my teachers get in class beat you,
- 32:06they did beat. It turns out, Trey, you and I went
- 32:08to U Mumbai is SD No. It's like here like like because corporal punishment
- 32:16was around when when we were kids as well, So it's like if you
- 32:19did something wrong, you went to the principal's office. And here's what it
- 32:22was. Oh no, it started with the teacher would put you in front
- 32:28of the class and they had paddles. They would swatch you. Then I
- 32:30would get sent to the principal's office and then I would take a shot.
- 32:34They would be then to the coach's office of football practice swat and home to
- 32:40grab belt. And it was dad's turn, because you know what, belt
- 32:47got to eat too, and that and that was growing up at a certain
- 32:57time now and and and this is this is an interesting dynamic because there is
- 33:04now loads of research that psychologists and psychiatrists and social workers and experts and children
- 33:13have come to say, don't do that because it's ultimately damaging to your children.
- 33:17And I will say I am damaged because of a lot of the things
- 33:22that happened to me as a child abuse wise. At the same time,
- 33:27I was also really well mannered. Yeah. So at a certain point,
- 33:31it's like, well, where do we find the balance? You know,
- 33:35It's like, Okay, you can deal with a little bit of childhood trauma
- 33:37that will carry over into your adult years, but at the same time,
- 33:40I want you to sit down and shut up on occasion, Yeah, I
- 33:44mean, but that's also I mean, we also called abuse whatever. Like
- 33:46I was at was a department store last night getting some stuff for Christmas,
- 33:51and I watched this kid have an utter meltdown over the fact that they were
- 33:54going to put him in a timeout when he got home, and I was
- 33:58like, man, I would have old for a time out kid. I
- 34:01remember going to uh. I remember going to a kid's house one time and
- 34:06he got in trouble and his parents said, you go sit in the corner,
- 34:09you go time out, and I'm like, time out. Yeah,
- 34:12the only, the only reason, the only, my only reference to time
- 34:15out was when my mom would tag in my dad. Yeah yeah. My
- 34:21mom would get winded and she was like, yeah, yeah, time out.
- 34:24And I hate to say this, but I'm going to say it because
- 34:28it's an old man phrase. But in my day, a time out wasn't
- 34:30for the kids, it was for the it was for the adults. Yeah.
- 34:35My dad's time out was he had to go smoke a Carlton and then
- 34:37come back and finish the top turns out Carlton's and are not you know,
- 34:44they're not just for enjoyment, they also give you energy. I'm gonna smoke
- 34:51this rhythm gonna smoke your ass. Weird. It's a weird thing to say
- 34:54that. Let me throw this out there if if you happen to be a
- 35:00teacher and you need to blow off some steam, I have the perfect time
- 35:04and place for you to do so in your own safe space, and that
- 35:08is at our Treehouse Podcast Christmas road Show at Shaker Ten's on Saturday this Saturday,
- 35:15December ninth, four to seven pm. So that means you can come
- 35:20hang out with us, have a good time, you can possibly enjoy the
- 35:24roast of me, and that's after the actual taping of the show, and
- 35:30some drinks will be had. There's food there, we'll have some merch scheduled
- 35:35to appear. In addition to the three of us, will be Jerry Caldwell,
- 35:38Everett Newton is kind of a maybe depending on his health. And then
- 35:43also Anadhara is going to be there and where it is. She's going to
- 35:46be partaking in some roasting, which I'm mildly afraid of because she can be
- 35:50vicious like a drunk chihwaba when she wants to be. And so it's going
- 35:55to be a great time. So as a teacher can come bl off some
- 35:59steam in your own safe space, so you can say and do pretty much
- 36:00whatever you want. I think Shaker Tins may require you to wear pants,
- 36:04but I'm not certain, So don't don't hold you know, don't hold it
- 36:07against me. Yeah, that's Saturday at Shaker Tins four to seven, and
- 36:12you can bring you can bring a toy for a special needs child that will
- 36:15have up that you can see the type of toys that they need at the
- 36:17Warren Center. Yeah. I was just saying, I think the whole ax
- 36:22ax throwing phenomenon was based on a teacher's idea. It's like, how do
- 36:27how do I kill my students without killing my students axe throwing? Because it's
- 36:31the only thing I've ever seen where they serve alcohol and let you hold an
- 36:36axe. Like I've never like that. I've never seen those two things go
- 36:40well. But yeah, I think if I was the parent of a child
- 36:44that brought home the permission slip for the school trip to go to the ax
- 36:46throwing place, I'd be like, Okay, whatever happened to the Museum of
- 36:52Natural History or you know, I'm ax. Yeah, it's I'm axe,
- 36:59That's exactly I don't I don't know if third grade is appropriate to go to
- 37:04the place called the chop house, I should be signing this. Some parents
- 37:13are like, yeah, take your brother too. Here's my wife. What
- 37:22happened to just losing them on the field trip. It's a another kid lost
- 37:36to night at ten. It's a real pandemic. We got here and not
- 37:46everyone knows this. But that's why they had to institute the policy of permission
- 37:51slips, because it wasn't so much a permission slip to go on the trip.
- 37:53It was a permission for the teachers to lose your child. Something's got
- 37:58to go in the back of a milk carton otherwise it's just a bunch of
- 38:05lights. Man. I'm glad it's glad it's ramping up to the Christmas season
- 38:15because I'm a feeling by New Year's we're all gonna be in hell. Oh
- 38:21man, I love it. Inside the Treehouse mention it again. Shakerton's Saturday
- 38:25four to seven pm. Bring a new unwrapped toy for a disabled child or
- 38:31special needs. I should say some are disabled, some special needs. It
- 38:34kind of runs a gamut. Earth to age three and the roast of me
- 38:38will have some fun there and a live taping of this yere treehouse so you
- 38:43can see all the hell inducing in person with alcohol in the treehouse. We'll
- 38:50see you there
