Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_04]: Hello, hello, hello, David Portman here from Poison, Rana.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_04]: I have just come back from the AEW All-In, Media, Junkit, at Wembley Stadium.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_04]: I was joined with John Pollock and we were fortunate enough to get a bunch of interviews today.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_04]: So here you go, I'll be talking with my world, along with John Pollock.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_04]: I then was fortunate enough to
- 0:24[SPEAKER_04]: interview someone we've been following a long time here to Maso, Champa, and then to wrap things up I have an incredibly awkward interview with Orange Cassidy.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_04]: I hope you enjoy it.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's John Paulic and Davey Portman here representing post wrestling getting set for all in London and we are joined by TBS champion Maya World and Maya First of all, we're speaking with you several days out from Wembley.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: We do expect to see you on on Sunday.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: What would be the ideal situation for you on Sunday?
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, obviously ideal would be defending my TBS championship, but at this point, I've seen the stadium on the construction.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: I would do whatever it is.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm ready for something.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever match, it is, just throw me in there.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_04]: Now Maya, I spoke to him on trial at the presser for that.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_04]: And you mentioned about wanting to face Athena again.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_04]: She's your mentor.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_04]: How was she as a mentor?
- 1:18[SPEAKER_04]: And what kind of advice has she given you that sticks with you to today?
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: Um, her advice was always like I said, the opportunities are going to come, so just take everyone and like make the most of it basically, which I feel like I have so far.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: So it was a lot of that.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: She just always gave me a lot of motivation of like confidence in myself and just every opportunity use it to your advantage basically.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: How have you processed the last couple of months for yourself, where you really, like, jettisoned here, of course, coming through the Owen Hart Cup Tournament, have you been able to kind of like take an ability to look back at this process, and how have you handled it mentally with a lot being put on your shoulders these last few months?
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's honestly, mentally it was hard at first because of course it happened right after, you know, my brother passed and a lot of stuff was kind of like numbed to me like I'm wrestling my idol and I was very excited of course, but it's like I didn't everything didn't settle in what was happening like I made it to the finals I beat Athena I'm wrestling my idol so a lot of stuff kind of like took a while to settle in.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: I did finally like cry about it here in makeup because I was just reflecting on everything that's happened.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like, wow, I'm here at Windley Stadium last year, all in Texas.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: I was in the audience as an extra watching and Dallas for Arlington, so it's very, very much like something I've had to like adapt to, adapt to being champion, but it's been such a great, a great few months, so I'm very excited.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, like it must be crazy that sort of you're ascension in the last year.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how much you've traveled before.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_04]: Like I'm a Londoner.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_04]: I went to school looking at the arch of Wembley Stadium.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_04]: So for me to be here interviewing you is pretty cool.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_04]: But have you been a London before?
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: No, I haven't.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's my first time and honestly the whole time on the plane, I was like, I can't believe I'm going to London.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe I'm going to London.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's so, you're up in general because I would Scotland too.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: But like, it's the coolest thing ever.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: Never expected me, obviously, to be here.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe resting in Wimbley Stadium too.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, it's just been like mind blowing experience for me so far.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: as you went through the grieving process with your brother, it was throwing yourself into wrestling at the time was it a bit of therapy for yourself to sort of, you know, this is how I'm going to honor my brother is by going out there performing because it's quite a lot when you're grieving and it's also a very public story.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: very, very much so exactly that, honestly.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Um, like I said, I came in on Wednesday and we found out Sunday, well, it was kind of like Saturday night, Sunday morning like two a.m. and from that two a.m. so like Wednesday, when I left for the airport, I was with my family.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: We were all like in the living room, my aunt's house, sleeping there, like all just together.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: So it definitely was like a pretty fresh air to get away because I just, I'm the type of person, my, I guess my grief is like,
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: I at least for him didn't want to think about it like I just needed to get away from it So definitely deep dot dove right in to work and then the channel it towards Is that what and as soon as I got there like everybody was so like loving comforting Tony has been amazing Since that happened and then they also had all these like resources for me like mental health resources like
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: for me and also my family that they extended it to so it's just been the best like I don't know if anywhere else would have like been you know been so loving as a W has been so definitely definitely was one of those things though where I had to like just dive in and make myself busy and I've been on the road every week since so it's been it's been great.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_04]: Now you seem someone, you know, your theme is said to you take every opportunity as they come and you seem to waste prepared for those opportunities.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_04]: Do you have anything special planned whether that's gear wise, tribute wise, or anything like that, if you are defending that championship at Wembley on Sunday.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I do have to add it still, but I do have something trivialized for my brother, um, I guess I can say that.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: If if I wrestle, I still don't.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: But, um, I did hear Tony say something.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, fingers crossed.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: We might, um, but I do have something small tribute for him in my, on my like robe coat.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_04]: And now, let's think of the positives as well.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_04]: You won that title on your birthday.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_04]: It also happened to be my co-hosts birthday, shout out, Braden, in Montreal.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sure there was some celebrating.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_04]: I'm also a bartender.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_04]: So I know about cocktails.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sure you probably had a few cocktails.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_04]: Our colleague, no, no, our colleague maybe.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_04]: If we were to have a Maya world cocktail, something that sums you up.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_04]: What would it be?
- 5:42[SPEAKER_04]: And what would we call it?
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, well, here's my thing.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: I am actually, I hate sipping alcohol.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: So I am more of a shop person, but I do love Shirley Temples.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: So it had to be something like a Shirley Temple with some alcohol mixed in.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's like something to kill her, but Shirley Temples are my thing.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: No, not for all.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: I do trim them, right?
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: But Shirley Temples are my thing.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: So definitely something with a Shirley Temple with some to kill her.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_04]: So like a dirty Shirley.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: Dirty, dirty Shirley, does.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking to you fucking drink.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: What am I?
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, sorry.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's dirty drink.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, good.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, a Maya tie is right there.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's good.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: That was good.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, what's in that?
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's rum, but we can do Ticila.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: OK, OK. Yeah, yeah, to you.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we look forward to whatever your involvement is.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think many are expecting you on the card on Sunday.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: My world, the TBS champion.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: And thanks so much for chatting with us.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, I was so much.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_04]: Hello, hello, hello, David Portman here from Poison, Rana, and I'm joined with the Psycho Killer, the Black Heart, the Sicilian Psychopath.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, you're going back to Maso, Champa.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_04]: To Maso, how are you today?
- 6:45[SPEAKER_05]: Great, man.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_05]: This is a wonderful time to be here.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_05]: Wembley is crazy bucketless item for me, so this has just been insane.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_05]: What a trip.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that was going to be my first question, so elephant in the room you're wearing a phulum jersey.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_05]: You did a game last night.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_05]: What a blast.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_05]: That's so hard.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_05]: I bet the three nil is the hell we see it three nil.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_04]: I bet the boss is happy.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_04]: I assume so.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_05]: No, no, who wouldn't be?
- 7:08[SPEAKER_04]: Was that your first football game?
- 7:10[SPEAKER_05]: So I've been to one American soccer game Orlando City, okay, and we took our little one because she was playing soccer at the time and it was a blast And we both my wife and we're like, oh, we should start getting into this of course we didn't like his busy and stuff first time ever doing it overseas first time at the Premier League or any of that unreal that stadium is crazy cool that cottage like they were kind of filling me in give me a little bit of history lesson such a fun time atmosphere was unreal.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah
- 7:38[SPEAKER_04]: And then Sunday, you're going to be in the mecca of football, the home of English football, Wembley Stadium.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_04]: You said it's a bucket list thing.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I've heard different wrestlers say about venues mean something to them.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_04]: Some, they don't mean anything to them.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_04]: This is something important to you.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_05]: Well, specifically because my, my favorite match as a child was bread heart and David like, uh, like, that's to this day, my comfort match.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_05]: Like a man,
- 8:04[SPEAKER_05]: whatever in a mood or what doing cardio and I just I'm trying and and a loss of what to watch.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_05]: That's the one I go to.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_05]: So that for that specific reason it's just so crazy to me that that little boy is doing this on Sunday.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I was what seven I believe at the time of that match and it was just the dream and it's weird to me.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_05]: It's a pinch of me moment to be like holy crap like this is literally where they did it and it's just not so.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_04]: We have a show on our podcast called Best Match Ever where we look at the best matches in history.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_04]: We've talked about that many, many, match many times.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_04]: What is it specifically about that match?
- 8:43[SPEAKER_04]: That means something.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_05]: So Brett was like, he was just my guy as a kid.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_05]: So there's so many Brett matches.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_05]: Brett, Piper, Brett Owen there.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_05]: I Brett Papa Shangle made me cry for the first time ever.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_05]: I think with that one though, like, I was real fascinated by
- 8:57[SPEAKER_05]: by like larger than life.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_05]: And I got it to like the bodybuilder types too.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_05]: So bulldog at that time really started to intrigue me.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_05]: And as a kid, he just looked like like a real life superhero come to life.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_05]: So while I loved Brett, it was just like,
- 9:13[SPEAKER_05]: I think it's the first time I got emotional for a promise to the match, you know what I mean?
- 9:16[SPEAKER_05]: Like, for a time I romanticized, for a wrestling.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_05]: And I feel like in some way that has really shaped what I'd become as a wrestler, where I just really love storytelling.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_05]: And I really enjoy capturing emotions if that makes sense.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I don't try to build my matches around specific moves or anything.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_05]: It's just always thinking about emotions.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_05]: And that's one of those matches that did that for me.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_05]: So it's cool to be able to try to like,
- 9:42[SPEAKER_04]: have that for other kids who are watching wrestling I mean I I've been watching you for years I I host the up next podcast on post wrestling obviously you a big part of NXT the very first show I ever hosted was take over New Orleans.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, that's so funny.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but I you still live here in London.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_04]: I went to your match at the ballroom against Mark Haskin.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, just do that.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I'm talking about that the other day.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_05]: That's so
- 10:06[SPEAKER_04]: So like I feel like I've watched a lot of moments in your career the 12 or three falls matching Toronto that match with Johnny I've seen your work in AEW now and you know Plastics already you haven't been here long but Mark Briscoff Yeah, I was a final owner.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, Fletcher.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm Chris Jericho And I would say you're an artist and that comes through and watching you you you've seen that kind of creativity coming out of you again And you've seen Excited and yeah, it's catch last man
- 10:34[SPEAKER_04]: What is, what is it about AEW that's really, but that help you again.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you get opportunity, right?
- 10:41[SPEAKER_05]: It's a platform you need time to tell those stories.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_05]: Different opponents, having a little bit less of limitations put on on what you're allowed to and not allowed to do.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_05]: It's just it's a mix of everything, but times the most valuable thing you can get a press.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_05]: Like, you know, if you give someone eight minutes, there's almost, there's a certain amount of story they can develop and tell at eight minutes.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_05]: You give somebody 50.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like that all the matches you name, whether it be Mark and Jericho and Kyle and Darby, all of those had to be out assume and the 15 to 20 minute range, which I feel like is the sweet spot.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_05]: You know, obviously, if you get more, you can do more different elements and tell different layers of
- 11:26[SPEAKER_05]: to capture an audience, to bring them along for a ride, to give them some dips, to take them one direction, and just when they think you're going this way, you swim the other way.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_05]: And that's the main thing you just need time.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_05]: That's for anybody, you know what I mean?
- 11:39[SPEAKER_05]: I was just talking earlier, like, there's so many amazing parasolors right now across the board and every capacity and every promotion, and there's so many of them who just aren't getting opportunity.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_05]: And it's like, we just need more opportunity for everybody,
- 11:55[SPEAKER_04]: Now you're at times a terrifying wrestler to watch in a good way, but you definitely bring the comedy in as well and we suddenly have been having fudes with an animal object.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, my favorite.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, bucket list in animal object have a match with.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_05]: Oh man, I like just make it has to make sense too.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_05]: So even that, this is gonna sound so silly, right?
- 12:17[SPEAKER_05]: Because it's like, you beat up, man, I can't even think of what the name is of the Canadians mascot anymore.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you beat, but like,
- 12:27[SPEAKER_05]: It's got to fit.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_05]: It still has to fit something.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, some element of the story, you know, like with Mark Rusco, it was a chicken because, yeah, he's chicken.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_05]: So like, I don't want it to just be like a random thing that has no context towards the match or opponent or scenario.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_05]: But that all started way back.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, this is like 15, 20 years ago on the Indies.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_05]: I think the first one I ever did was just a fan had a macho man outfit on and a macho hat.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_05]: And I took their macho hat off during the match and beat it up and did the whole thing and I've had there's many different Rinditions of it that I have over the years.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_05]: So that was one of those things where I just said, I'm just going to pull out some things that I used to have fun with and bring them to a larger audience and the reception has been on whatever.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_05]: That's one of those things to that it cators to a live audience like that live audience.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_05]: tends to, I've never had a moment where they didn't react to the, and, oh, Montreal hates it to you.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's the, and that lives through a TV screen.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_05]: Like if a live audience is having fun at a peruseling match, and you can feel that through your TV screen, you are having fun as real.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_05]: Like, I tend to cater very much to that experience.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_05]: Um,
- 13:38[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I've had so many of those fun ones throughout the years.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_05]: Eddie Dennis, is that, is that cool?
- 13:43[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yeah, we did, and I forget what, there was, there was a thing they would tease him with.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_05]: I can't remember what the item was.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_04]: He was a teacher, was any teacher?
- 13:50[SPEAKER_05]: He was a teacher.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_05]: No, but it was a specific animal that they would, in they would call him it, whatever it was.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_05]: But anyways, I've had so many moments throughout the years where that has become a play.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_05]: very easy on your body and it gets a great reaction and it's just a wonderful kind of break in the intensity and you know and the realism of what we're doing now.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, final question, non-restling related.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_04]: I'm a bartender in Toronto.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_04]: I always ask people if there was a tomato champa cocktail, whether I'll call it non-alcoholic, what would it be, what would it be called?
- 14:24[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, something that represents you.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_04]: I may be a fairy tale ending.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_05]: I only drink one thing.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, and
- 14:30[SPEAKER_05]: So it's good side to say it.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_03]: I don't have a way to mix that.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_03]: You know, there's no way to mix it.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, I like Ferry to learn.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_05]: That's a fun name for it.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like if I named it, it would have to be something with Willow, though.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_05]: Like I named Willow's Bell, you know, the DDC.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_05]: So you're the bartender.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_05]: What would you go with with Willow with Willow?
- 14:51[SPEAKER_04]: With Willow's SIDA.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, perfect.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_05]: Is that easy enough?
- 14:54[SPEAKER_04]: Well, maybe some sort of herbal cider, you know, the classic apple, but with some something mixed in with some herbology mixed in there.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I know nothing about it.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_05]: So I would I would let you.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_05]: Well, let you crafted for me.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_04]: Well, if you have time, definitely try some side as well.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_04]: You hear England's known for it.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, we had one last night at the football game.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I believe I was like, hey, they have it because I forgot they always have it on tap here.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I will say when I would do progress, there was a bar right across the street from where we were at the bottom that we would be.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_05]: And Zach Saber Jr and I would always every show go for a cider together.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_05]: And I was always blown away by the assortment.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_05]: And you had so many choices.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_05]: You don't get that back on the day.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_04]: The dog fruits one is very nice.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_05]: All of them are wonderful.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_05]: I'm a big cider fan.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_04]: or tomato pleasure meeting you.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you very much.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_04]: Good luck on Sunday.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_04]: Appreciate it.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Wes.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_04]: Hello, hello, hello, Davey Porman here from PoisonRana and I am joined all in weekend with Orange Cassidy.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_04]: Hello, Orange, how are you?
- 15:54[SPEAKER_03]: you just turned that on like we said hello to each other and then he could think and you like that was impressive.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_03]: You were like what a professional.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think you guys understand he was like oh yeah cool like like and also do you boom.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_03]: I felt it.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_03]: I was like whoa that energy is crazy.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_03]: I think I go to get on your level though.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_03]: So
- 16:15[SPEAKER_03]: We'll continue now.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_03]: I'll bring it down a bit.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_03]: It was too much energy right there.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_03]: A little wake up, but man, that was professional as I'd never seen anything so professional.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_04]: Well, thank you very much.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_04]: You are going to be in the Trio's gauntlet match at all in.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_04]: Whatever that is.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_04]: We've been asking the same.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_04]: I swear.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_04]: Now, you're in the trio, the conglomeration, with Kylon Roddy.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_04]: There's a thing people say, I'm a big fan of always sunny in Philadelphia.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_04]: And they say, in most groups, there's the looks, the brains, and the wildcard.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_04]: So, you Carl Roddy, who's the looks, who's the brains, who's the wildcard?
- 16:55[SPEAKER_03]: So, Kyle is the muscle.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_03]: Roddy is the wild card, and the looks, the brains, and the coolists.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, I can see that.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_04]: I can see that.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_04]: So Wembley Stadium and the gauntlet, I believe, is sort of ending the pre-show and then the zero-hour rather and then kicking off the main show.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_04]: Do you find there's extra pressure on a big show like this opening the show?
- 17:31[SPEAKER_03]: No, I, I, I, I'm glad I can get out their first, people are fresh, they're ready to go, also like, I'm in there with my friends, like it's so much like, you know, it's great, I know we can win this, I know we can win, I'm very confident in my, my, my friends, but
- 17:55[SPEAKER_03]: like it's going to be the first thing all these fantastic fans see.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_03]: So the energy will be so high, which as you and I both know, I need help with that.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_03]: So you know, I'm excited for it.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_03]: I think obviously there's pressure, yes, but I like to look at it as like good energy coming in.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_04]: Speaking of energy, you hear about, you know, wrestlers, boxers, MMA fighters, their entrance theme is a big part of it, and it's a way to energize.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_04]: Now, you've got two of the best themes in wrestling, you've got Jane, and you've got where's my mind.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_04]: Does each song put you in a different mindset?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_04]: Like would you pick one song for one sort of opponent or match over another, where does it like, why do sometimes come out to Jane?
- 18:41[SPEAKER_04]: Why sometimes, what do you think?
- 18:44[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I've noticed you change your gene color sometimes.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_04]: So if you're doing something violent, you're in there with John Moxley, you're often in the darker genes.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_04]: you're doing something a bit lighter you're in the you're in the blue you're in the the Canadian Tuxedo there um so it's reason more you're like darker side or do you say Jane?
- 19:07[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, and the pixie's for sure.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_03]: Weeza, I'm sorry, but I know what you're mad at.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, you know what I mean.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, no, you nailed it.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_03]: So it's correct.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, okay.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_03]: Interestings is, yeah.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_04]: Now, some of your merch as well.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_04]: Very simplistic, very effective.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_04]: You've recently brought out this.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_04]: It's designed by me.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I was doing.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, sunglasses.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_03]: I do a lot of work on those.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_03]: No, seriously, I do a lot of the designs for the easy things.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_03]: We always have talented people that do very cool things, but I'm just very particular about how to know.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like branding is very important in the sense of like, I would want to.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_03]: I would never try to sell something or put my face on it.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_03]: I wouldn't wear myself.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's very important.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_03]: Matt side L is the only person that came up with the face that's here.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_03]: And then when you take your son to ask stuff, put on your collar, it's covering the, like that is his idea.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_03]: It's brilliant.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_03]: I've never seen that and it's so you and it, it's what?
- 20:18[SPEAKER_03]: It's like one of those things where it's like how I've not thought of that before.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_03]: What took you so long?
- 20:23[SPEAKER_04]: Now, on top of that, you're going, uh, you're in London, you're Wembley, um, I don't know if you were where there's been a bit of a drought here.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_04]: There's been a bit of a, a hose pipe, ban, uh, hasn't really rained much and we're known for our rain in London, uh, in last night.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_04]: The rain last night, but we need it.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_04]: Like the grass should be green.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_04]: The grass is gold.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_04]: It's brown over here and there have been reports that may be,
- 20:48[SPEAKER_04]: Pyro is being scaled back.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_04]: So I just want to say on behalf of London and the country, you were thinking ahead, like the single Pyro going off, single Pyro going from the roof of Wembley.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_04]: So thank you, you're very environmentally conscious there.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_03]: But do you want to know a fae inside scoop?
- 21:09[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_03]: It took me three years to convince them to give me that Pyro.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_03]: It is nothingness, but for some reason, it just took so long and then when I started wrestling
- 21:24[SPEAKER_03]: on TV to kick off dynamite every time.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_03]: They were like, well, let's give the kid a bone.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_03]: And he, they just gave it up.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_03]: That's all I wanted.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_03]: It took so long.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_03]: Now, that's all I got.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_04]: Now, you've had the incredible international title run.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_04]: I would say you're the one that really put that title on the map with your regular defenses and showing you more than just the chill guy going out there.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_04]: You're doing your trios thing right now,
- 21:54[SPEAKER_04]: I think a lot of people miss you as a singles competitor as well.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_04]: We love seeing the stuff you do with the conglomeration, but do you still have aspirations for singles goal in AEW?
- 22:06[SPEAKER_03]: I look at where that championship is now, and right now it's on the shoulder of one of the best wrestling today, and it's going to be defended in a triple threat match.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_03]: this beautiful stadium against Ohkata and Kenosate to catch to catch them, right?
- 22:28[SPEAKER_03]: Like, we're talking about the best of the best of the best, like, in the world wrestling for that.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_03]: It makes me feel good that like, oh yeah, you know, I had a little, I had a helping to do that, but yes, it also makes me
- 22:49[SPEAKER_03]: I think so.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_03]: I think we'd love to see it.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_03]: Think about it all the time.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_03]: But I see Kyle walking around with it.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_03]: He's a big boy though.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_04]: Now, final question.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_04]: I am also a bartender.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_04]: And what's the drink?
- 23:01[SPEAKER_04]: Go.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, Tequila, wine, beer, cider, sourced.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_03]: That's a lot of defense on my move.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_03]: But defense on my move.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_03]: Say, like, what kind of drink would you like?
- 23:12[SPEAKER_03]: Are you best at making?
- 23:13[SPEAKER_04]: Well, that's I love making an old fashion.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_04]: I love making martini.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_03]: Can you make a good like, do you use a bitters?
- 23:19[SPEAKER_03]: Like, what do you use for your old fashion?
- 23:21[SPEAKER_04]: Old fashion, I would do.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_04]: So I live in Canada.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_04]: So I do two ounces of Canadian rye.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_04]: I do quarter ounce of simple syrup.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_04]: I go pretty heavy on the bitters.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_04]: OK. Orange round the red.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_04]: Orange in it.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_04]: Orange peel.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_04]: Burn the orange.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_04]: If you can.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, add some smokiness to it.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_04]: I'm, yeah, that's cool.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_04]: But I got to know what is in the orange punch.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, uh, if I told you that, I'd have to kill you.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_03]: No, I don't know.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what's in it.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_03]: Strong, nothing.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_03]: Well, whatever you have laying around, how about that?
- 24:00[SPEAKER_04]: Love it.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_04]: Well, orange looking forward to Sunday, you'll be in the 21 man trios casino going, whatever that is.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_04]: It's going to be fun to experience it together.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I'll figure out what that match is as it's happening.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_03]: That's great.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_03]: All the best of luck and thank you very much.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you very much.
