- 0:08business to amplify your marketing message Campbell
- 0:11Rappin and take you through the buyers mastering your marketing
- 0:15and making offer consistently well on the inside.
- 0:22We are coming in hot today about a truth you're not gonna love
- 0:27and you need to hear it. I'm going to be talking about
- 0:30the secret to fast growth. If you're a business owner, a
- 0:36solopreneur, an emerging entrepreneur who is already in
- 0:39momentum, you are recognizing that real discomfort when your
- 0:44biggest dream has turned into a nightmare.
- 0:47What do I mean by that? You know when you first started
- 0:49your business and you were like, if I could just find my next
- 0:52client with certainty, with predictability, I would be
- 0:57living it. That business owner bad ass
- 1:00dream? Well, you got what you wanted,
- 1:04except for now. The idea of another client and
- 1:07the capacity you're serving feels like, Oh my God, how will
- 1:14I do this? And so chances are you're
- 1:16starting to sabotage your business, even though growth is
- 1:21what you want. And today this love letter,
- 1:24today's episode is going to show you how to get the fast growth.
- 1:28Whether you are sprinting for your first 100K, you're trying
- 1:31to transition from emerging to growth from that 100K to 2:50 to
- 1:371/2 a million and half a million beyond.
- 1:42Here's the controversy piece. The fewer things you do, the
- 1:48fewer people you serve, the faster you will grow.
- 1:53And you're like, wow, Christine, I don't wanna do that, right?
- 2:01You just threw your toys out of the sandbox.
- 2:02I just saw it. Well, I'm going to show you how
- 2:05you do this and how you transition.
- 2:07Because when we're working with our clients who are in high
- 2:10growth, it is about remembering to shift gears from being either
- 2:15the owner operator to the CEO or from transitioning ourselves as
- 2:20the client delivery mechanic from employee to business owner.
- 2:25And This is why you feel like you're drowning is because
- 2:29you're trying to stay in the role that doesn't serve the
- 2:32level of growth you are at. It's uncomfortable.
- 2:37It's where sabotage gets really creative.
- 2:40And truthfully, it's optional. So anytime we're working with
- 2:44clients to transition to their next level, I go back to the
- 2:48foundations of what do I think a level should look like.
- 2:53I tell clients if you think of your business as 100% whole,
- 2:57your financial goals should be set at 80%.
- 3:01So if you want to make 100K, well, then your goal has to be
- 3:09120 because at 120 goal at 80% you're hitting 100K revenue.
- 3:16Why do I do that? Well, the first thing is because
- 3:20I want you to be sustaining your momentum.
- 3:24And if you sustain 100%, a hundred percent, 100 percent,
- 3:27100%, you will flame out and go over the edge.
- 3:35But if I sat you at 80%, 80% is breathing room.
- 3:41And breathing room is important for two key growth mechanics.
- 3:46Number one, I need you to be taking time out of your business
- 3:50because you should reward yourself with vacation.
- 3:53You should reward yourself with just thinking space.
- 3:57And here's the kicker, life is going to life at you.
- 4:00And whether you take the time or want to take the time, it will
- 4:03require you to take the time. And at 80%, when you do that,
- 4:07you still have your cash flow met, your goals met, and your
- 4:12breathing room so we don't spiral down.
- 4:17Second thing I love about the 80% rule in my mind is that at
- 4:2180%, you still have reserve. You have reserve resources, you
- 4:24have reserve capital, you have reserve in your toolkit.
- 4:29So when you walk to an unexpected opportunity or one
- 4:32opportunity comes your way that you didn't see coming fast, you
- 4:36can quickly say yes, you can quickly get moving and you can
- 4:39move to the 100%, live at that 100% until you can settle the
- 4:44resources at a new 80. And so that's what I coach on.
- 4:48That's what I live, why I always want to have fuel in the tank.
- 4:54And I know as I pursue the next level, that stepping stone too
- 4:58fast growth. I have to transition from what I
- 5:02was doing to a new level because what got me here will not
- 5:06sustain me there. So how do you sustain a new
- 5:10level of growth? How do I raise that bar?
- 5:14Well, there's five steps and I'm going to take you through them
- 5:16today. The first one, the overarching
- 5:20principle, is fewer things, fewer people, more dollars.
- 5:26OK, we're talking elegant simplicity here, and every
- 5:30pathway has to be simplified. So we start with #1 who are the
- 5:35core customers that provided the 80%?
- 5:42What's the product? What's our profitability?
- 5:46What's our ease to serve them? Who advocates for people to get
- 5:51to that program? Who promotes that program
- 5:54because it's easy, understood and the result very clearly
- 5:58defined. I need to go back and audit my
- 6:03sales process, my marketing spend and how we talk about our
- 6:08business to ensure we're leaning into the core because chances
- 6:15are you said yes to so many things.
- 6:18You started to create a debris field and that includes both
- 6:23offers and clients. You've said yes to opportunities
- 6:26you should have declined. You said yes to clients you
- 6:29should have not extended offers to, and it's time to clean
- 6:32house. So step number 2 is to shed any
- 6:36and all bad fits that do not meet the dream client profile,
- 6:40the dream core offer and we transition and clean house.
- 6:46How do we do that? Well, I'm not suggesting you
- 6:48fire clients. I am suggesting you build an
- 6:51exit strategy. So natural attrition and
- 6:55graduating out of programs can be a great way to naturally
- 6:59clean house. But that means is you do not
- 7:02intend to make a next offer to somebody who's no longer a fit
- 7:07with your services. I would invite you 100% to
- 7:11support that client beyond that service commitment.
- 7:15Refer it if there's Rachel, take a revenue share of that
- 7:19referral, but let them graduate, let them complete their program
- 7:24and don't engage an offer a next step directly with you.
- 7:28You can also raise the bar of your rate so that anybody knew
- 7:32coming into your business sets at a new standard.
- 7:36You can really think about your discounting and bonus strategy,
- 7:42streamline, put time limiters on place, think about the energy
- 7:48and support you spend and filter, filter and be a badass
- 7:56filterer. Because you want to boost the
- 7:59quality and ensure congruency to the right offer, to the right
- 8:03fit, to the right volume. And you want to be seen as a
- 8:09destination for fast decision makers because that's ultimately
- 8:15how to amp up your growth fast. The third thing I want you to do
- 8:20is really go through your offers.
- 8:26Slim it down. And I watched all of you just
- 8:29go, oh, I think it just threw up.
- 8:31I mean it. I'm serious about this.
- 8:33Slimmed down your offers. You have tried a bunch of
- 8:36different things and you had some middling success with many.
- 8:41You had no success with others and great success with the few.
- 8:44I want you to slim it down. You've tested and you've
- 8:48learned. Take the lesson, You want to use
- 8:52your resources effectively focusing on the high profit,
- 8:56high price, high result destination category offers.
- 9:02So yes, I'm going to say it again, slim down your offer set.
- 9:06You wanna go back to the very basics that you start with is
- 9:09like, who do I want to be known for?
- 9:10You want to be known for your one core offer.
- 9:14Your one core offer makes you easy to advocate for, easy to
- 9:17refer, easy to be successful at transitioning interest to offer
- 9:23to. Yes, paid client #4 is.
- 9:27You need to reduce the complexity of both how you run
- 9:30your business and your process for delivery.
- 9:35Capacity becomes hard because complexity occurs when we are
- 9:43not focused on the systems. But systems and standardization
- 9:47are what you get known for, and so it is time to really
- 9:53challenge the must deliverables, those extra wow moments and the
- 9:58stuff that's just clutter where you can delegate or you can
- 10:05simply remove, remove. And where it's very high touch.
- 10:09You need to stay high focused #5 I want you to get crystal clear
- 10:15on your standards, not the processes here, but the
- 10:19embodiment of of your brand. What do you stand for as a brand
- 10:24promise? What do you want to be known
- 10:26for? What is your delivery standard?
- 10:29How do you communicate value? How can you quantify value and
- 10:35results? What's the benefit so that you
- 10:38can stay not only clear in your true north if you're a
- 10:43solopreneur, but you can make sure everybody who touches your
- 10:47business gets it from a vision perspective and lives it from a
- 10:53delivery perspective. It's time to slow down and to
- 11:00take stock. So the secret to fast growth is
- 11:04in fact simplicity. Your next level of 80%, whether
- 11:11you're going from your first 100K to 2:50 to half a million
- 11:14to 1,000,000 or beyond, comes from fewer things, fewer people,
- 11:19higher profit, higher results. And when you do that, it is
- 11:23easier. Not effortless, just easier to
- 11:28sustain growth. And I want you to really get
- 11:32clear about that 80% analogy because the wobbling growth is
- 11:38normal. You're stretching, you're
- 11:41uncertain, you're trying, you're iterating, and it's going to be
- 11:44hugely conflicting, hugely uncomfortable.
- 11:48But if you go back to 80, you always have fuel and you can
- 11:52slow down because you built in the slow to take stock, to
- 11:58refine. And that's why when we support
- 12:00clients long term, I say I simply don't take clients
- 12:03anymore on private work for six months.
- 12:06I can build you a great business with six months.
- 12:08We know how to build the foundations, we know how to get
- 12:10the system running, we know how to build the structure and we
- 12:12get you launched in our programs like the 30 day accelerator and
- 12:18our when with clients consistently program.
- 12:20But the private clients, I don't let them work with me six
- 12:23months, I'm required, they say a year.
- 12:24And here's why. Because once you start to build
- 12:27capacity, you hit capacity constraint.
- 12:31It works. Getting clients works
- 12:34predictably. It works frequently, and you're
- 12:37going to start to then hit a ceiling and we'll have a very
- 12:40serious conversation when you hit the ceiling.
- 12:43Is the ceiling where you want to stay?
- 12:45And yes, the answer can be, yeah, I like where I am.
- 12:50I like the lifestyle. I like the revenue.
- 12:52I like the clients. I'm breathing.
- 12:54And if you're breathing, I will celebrate you to the wall.
- 12:58But if you're thinking I'm not breathing, I can't stay here.
- 13:01But I also want another gear. I'm going to send you back to
- 13:05this structure. Your next level of growth is not
- 13:09going to be fueled by what got you here.
- 13:10It has to require next level thinking.
- 13:12And that next level thinking is about simplifying, distilling,
- 13:17iterating, and being clear what you say yes to and what you say
- 13:22no to. You need to slow down to reach
- 13:28next level growth and that's an oxymoron.
- 13:31And a lot of people struggle to do this on their own.
- 13:35So if you're struggling right now thinking I feel like a fire
- 13:37hydrant, I do see you. I see it every day.
- 13:40Just this morning I met a business owner through a
- 13:43community that I'm part of and he's like I'm a victim of my own
- 13:46success. And yet I looked at my life this
- 13:51week and I thought, I can't sustain it.
- 13:55I'm barely breathing, I'm missing some of the things that
- 13:59matter most to me, and part of what I want for myself and my
- 14:04own identity is my business success.
- 14:06So how can I have it? All said, you can have it all.
- 14:10Not in the way you are structured today.
- 14:13So if you want to get more business, get more family time,
- 14:18get more breathing space, you need help transitioning to the
- 14:22next level. And that transition.
- 14:24I gave you the answers. Core customers, make sure you're
- 14:28congruent with your messaging, pull only who you want to serve,
- 14:32shed and distill the outliers, Slim down the product offering,
- 14:38strategize and be strategic with processes and reduce the
- 14:42complexity and really get clear on your brand promise.
- 14:47My friend's business is not complicated.
- 14:50Growth is confronting fast. Growth feels like a gigantic
- 14:56wobble. We are constantly feel like I'm
- 14:58being punked. I want that.
- 15:00I don't. Oh my God, yes, no, Yeah.
- 15:03Back up like that's if that's you, welcome to the journey of
- 15:07entrepreneurship. But ask yourself this.
- 15:09If you're listening to today's episode, you're going to save
- 15:11it. If you're in high growth, save
- 15:12this episode. If you're wanting to pursue high
- 15:15growth, save this episode. The wobble is normal, but you
- 15:20have a choice today to make. Will the wobble control you?
- 15:24Will you constantly just think the answers?
- 15:25Swallow more water from the fire hydrant?
- 15:29Or will you choose to give yourself oxygen and put the mask
- 15:31on and get support so that you know you can direct the wobble?
- 15:37Do you control it 100%? No.
- 15:39But that's why slowing down is important, because you have to
- 15:42get clear on your true north. You have to get clear what
- 15:44you're saying yes to and what you're saying no to.
- 15:49And I will tell you this piece as I conclude today's episode.
- 15:54You are changing in this journey.
- 15:57What you want is changing. What you aspire to is changing,
- 16:02and so when we talk about next level, it can mean in any
- 16:08direction. You do you.
- 16:13You have the ultimate freedom card.
- 16:15As an entrepreneur, I get to build a life I want.
- 16:19I want to set my own paycheck. I want to choose who I play with
- 16:22and I choose how I do it. So if you forgot that for a
- 16:26nanosecond, I hope today you took a moment to see it.
- 16:34And if you're thinking I need support, ask.
