- 0:00Speaker 1: Celebrity news you like that guard film really sad news.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Yesterday Australian icon Sam Neil passed away aged seventy eight.
- 0:09Speaker 1: So we found out through a statement on his social
- 0:12Speaker 1: media account which said he died in Sydney surrounded by
- 0:14Speaker 1: his family. And at the time of his death he
- 0:17Speaker 1: remained cancer free because back in twenty twenty two he
- 0:21Speaker 1: was diagnosed with this rare form of non hodgen lymphoma
- 0:24Speaker 1: called angio immunoblastic T cell lymphoma. But then what he
- 0:29Speaker 1: did was this like basically a clinical trial, took this
- 0:33Speaker 1: drug and it worked, but he needed ongoing infusion treatment.
- 0:38Speaker 1: In April of this year we spoke about it on
- 0:39Speaker 1: the show. He announced he was cancer free, but unfortunately
- 0:43Speaker 1: he ended up passing away anyway. So yeah, he's just
- 0:47Speaker 1: one of the greats of Australian film because.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Not many Australian film well I.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Was going to say not many in that era Australian
- 0:55Speaker 1: actors and actresses made it in Hollywood, like he was
- 0:58Speaker 1: of that first era.
- 1:01Speaker 2: My favorite movie of course.
- 1:03Speaker 1: So this is actually a little bit of audio I
- 1:05Speaker 1: wanted to play of him speaking of Fraser Grout, who's
- 1:08Speaker 1: a guy who speaks to people about their dreams, and
- 1:10Speaker 1: I thought it was very fitting this audio. So have
- 1:11Speaker 1: a listen to what he told Fraser back in twenty
- 1:14Speaker 1: twenty one.
- 1:15Speaker 3: I think I'd like a night where there's no dreams.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I'd like a morning when I wake up and there's
- 1:25Speaker 3: really nothing on the news, when everything just returns to
- 1:30Speaker 3: do and there's nothing to report.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So well, I'm out of a job.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Ye, yes, basically hated you, Brooklyn Damian.
- 1:41Speaker 2: What yesterday Damien said to me because he's been trying
- 1:44Speaker 2: to not go on Instagram or anything, and he goes,
- 1:47Speaker 2: so I've got rid of Instagram. Next is I'm just
- 1:50Speaker 2: not going to watch the news. He's like, you're going
- 1:55Speaker 2: to have to watch the news in another room. He
- 1:57Speaker 2: doesn't want to know what's.
- 2:02Speaker 1: A personal choice for him.
- 2:04Speaker 4: I've got a lot of mates. When I was on
- 2:07Speaker 4: the Weekend, they were talking about how that I don't
- 2:08Speaker 4: watch it anymore because it depresses the Amy Gerard, who's
- 2:11Speaker 4: back next week, same things. She doesn't watch the news,
- 2:14Speaker 4: you and Melissa I do.
- 2:15Speaker 5: I do have it on in the background.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's quite flute. Good to know.
- 2:18Speaker 5: What's going on, and I can relate to what Sam
- 2:22Speaker 5: was saying. Which is that we sometimes just need a
- 2:25Speaker 5: moment to take a breath a lot for nothing bad
- 2:27Speaker 5: to happen, and just to know that that's going to
- 2:29Speaker 5: happen one day.
- 2:30Speaker 4: And if you tune it all out, you're probably happier. Yeah,
- 2:33Speaker 4: ignorance is bliss.
- 2:35Speaker 5: It can be if not for just a mere moment.
- 2:38Speaker 1: We'll rest in peace. Sam Now Taylor Swift's now husband,
- 2:41Speaker 1: Travis Kelsey, has opened up that he might have a
- 2:43Speaker 1: bit of a spending issue. So he spoke he was
- 2:46Speaker 1: on his own podcast, New Heights that he hosts with.
- 2:49Speaker 2: His brother Jay himself.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Yeah, basically that was speaking about the first time you
- 2:53Speaker 1: get that big check, which we've all been there, whether
- 2:56Speaker 1: it's a promotion and you get a significant pay rise,
- 2:59Speaker 1: or maybe Elsa it was your first Master Chef paycheck,
- 3:02Speaker 1: or Mikey your first radio paycheck, and you either are
- 3:05Speaker 1: quite sensible with it or you just go, whoa look
- 3:08Speaker 1: at my account. And that is kind of the thing
- 3:11Speaker 1: that Travis did. He looked at his first NFL plate paycheck,
- 3:15Speaker 1: which was, by the way, one point one mill in
- 3:17Speaker 1: his rookie year. That's insane. One point one US dollars.
- 3:21Speaker 5: There's a lot, not some small potatoes.
- 3:23Speaker 4: No, and he would have been like seventeen or eighteen
- 3:25Speaker 4: or something.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I think maybe early twenties. Yeah, but either way, like
- 3:30Speaker 1: the Sacred guy text, chucking checking one point one million
- 3:33Speaker 1: US dollars at a guy that age, he has admitted
- 3:35Speaker 1: that he probably didn't spend it in the right way.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I spent all of my first check in every second.
- 3:40Speaker 4: I didn't have anything to sell for it, rent and yah.
- 3:47Speaker 5: Yeah no, I didn't even have a guy.
- 3:48Speaker 4: I stole Jesus guy. I was spending money on way dummer.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Than that, So I just spent it all on dumb shit.
- 3:55Speaker 1: So is there anything you can think of that springs
- 3:56Speaker 1: to mind? Where because I'm actually I don't know if
- 3:59Speaker 1: I see him this way. I'm really responsible with money.
- 4:01Speaker 1: So when I won ten grand once, I bought a
- 4:03Speaker 1: car on finance, and everyone who bought a car on
- 4:06Speaker 1: that weekend when in the draw to win ten grand,
- 4:08Speaker 1: and I won the money, and then everyone's like, oh,
- 4:10Speaker 1: what are you going to do go on a holiday?
- 4:11Speaker 1: I'm like, no, I'm putting it on my finance and
- 4:13Speaker 1: everyone's like, you're boring, and I'm like, but money, like
- 4:16Speaker 1: having debt gives me anxiety. So I get any lump
- 4:19Speaker 1: summer money, I'm putting it on debt.
- 4:21Speaker 5: I think that's that's the smart choice.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Boring. Are you good with money, Melissa?
- 4:25Speaker 5: I feel like you know still now, I still called
- 4:28Speaker 5: my mother for advice. It's my money. I've earned it.
- 4:32Speaker 5: If I go to buy something significant, like going on
- 4:36Speaker 5: a holiday or something like that, I still kind of
- 4:38Speaker 5: feel like the need to discuss it with my parents,
- 4:41Speaker 5: Like with my mom. Yeah, I don't know, it's just
- 4:44Speaker 5: one of those things. But it's trying to be sensible.
- 4:47Speaker 5: But also we have to remember to have some fun,
- 4:49Speaker 5: be present. We don't know how long we're going to
- 4:51Speaker 5: be here for. Yeah, yeah, So I think you've got
- 4:52Speaker 5: to strike that totally.
- 4:53Speaker 1: There's always the days where you go to the shops
- 4:55Speaker 1: and you just spend money for no reason. You're like,
- 4:57Speaker 1: I needed none of this.
- 4:58Speaker 5: I mean every time I walk into any tiny beauty store,
- 5:02Speaker 5: the impulse purchasing, Mike.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Didn't you want when you first got your radio check
- 5:06Speaker 1: or something, you blew it all?
- 5:08Speaker 5: Well?
- 5:08Speaker 4: My first like I got a sign on bonus, I
- 5:11Speaker 4: bought all the furniture and everything in my house, which
- 5:13Speaker 4: I think was sent but I'd lost a job at
- 5:16Speaker 4: some point that's it. I'd lost a radio gig and
- 5:18Speaker 4: I was like, well, I'm just going to keep living
- 5:19Speaker 4: like this. So I just lived in his house with
- 5:21Speaker 4: a pall.
- 5:21Speaker 1: And on a credit card, on credit, rent on credit.
- 5:26Speaker 5: But I.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Paid it off eventually. I was living like a like
- 5:32Speaker 4: a baller with that.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Also, it was because you were single and like, you
- 5:36Speaker 1: want to still keep this house and everything, but when
- 5:38Speaker 1: people asked you, how are you affording this?
- 5:41Speaker 2: It just avoided a radio star.
- 5:43Speaker 4: I haven't been fired, fired,
