- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The
- 0:06Speaker 1: rex was not chasing the jeep. Murray, Murray, you there.
- 0:09Speaker 1: You love sandwiches? Huh, Let's go to eighty Ito. Wow
- 0:16Speaker 1: that Prime Time. Maybe I had a crush on Betty Rubble.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 2: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 2: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 2: the game.
- 0:29Speaker 3: You're listening to to Gotson Company.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I am so excited about this, so happy to see
- 0:34Speaker 2: her face. Lucy Rodin is back with us. We have
- 0:37Speaker 2: missed you so much. Welcome back, Lucy. I don't know
- 0:40Speaker 2: why I'm welcoming back, but welcome to the show.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Lucy. How are you?
- 0:44Speaker 4: It's been a while. I miss you guys.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Oh miss you too, Lucy, We miss you too.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Is it weird that Taylor wants to go up to
- 0:52Speaker 2: New York even though the Knicks are playing in San Antonio.
- 0:55Speaker 2: He wants to be in New York City because he
- 0:57Speaker 2: wants to feel the buzz of the Knicks around Manhattan,
- 1:00Speaker 2: and he lives thirty five minutes away from that place.
- 1:04Speaker 5: I will say I think it's normal because the buzz
- 1:07Speaker 5: is insane. I have seen people dancing in the street today.
- 1:10Speaker 5: I saw a guy just walking around with a Knick's
- 1:12Speaker 5: flag like a cape.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Just like running around.
- 1:15Speaker 5: There is an energy that like you do just have
- 1:18Speaker 5: to be here to get And also I would like
- 1:20Speaker 5: to watch the game with Taylor, so I think it
- 1:21Speaker 5: would work out for me personally if he came to
- 1:24Speaker 5: New York.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's affecting our plans too.
- 1:26Speaker 6: If Taylor went to New York, his girlfriend would be
- 1:28Speaker 6: hanging out with me and Anthony. Otherwise she's hanging out
- 1:31Speaker 6: with him, and I'm not sure she's happiest about the
- 1:33Speaker 6: situation right now.
- 1:34Speaker 7: And Lucy, you know, you could take the kid out
- 1:36Speaker 7: of New York City, but you can't take the New
- 1:38Speaker 7: York City out of the kid. Me and Lucy are
- 1:41Speaker 7: kindred spirits where when we're in South Florida, we'd rather
- 1:44Speaker 7: be almost anywhere else, anywhere else.
- 1:48Speaker 3: So true, I made you move here.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Sorry, Lucy, tell us what you're doing here before we
- 1:55Speaker 2: get started with some college football. What are you doing
- 1:58Speaker 2: with Betch's media and home field apparel?
- 2:01Speaker 4: So I'm so excited.
- 2:02Speaker 5: I am starting sort of a new thing which is
- 2:05Speaker 5: being self employed, and so far it's awesome. My boss
- 2:08Speaker 5: a little moody, but I can deal with it if
- 2:10Speaker 5: she's fine.
- 2:12Speaker 4: So I will be partnering with Matches.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Still a little more information to come, some of it
- 2:16Speaker 5: as secret right now, but we're doing a series together
- 2:18Speaker 5: that I'm so excited you can look forward in the
- 2:19Speaker 5: next few weeks. And then I'm partnering with home Field
- 2:22Speaker 5: to be a part of their college football tour this year,
- 2:24Speaker 5: so you will see me on the road. Everything is
- 2:27Speaker 5: under the name cfb Lucy because we're smart and we
- 2:29Speaker 5: branded it and I thought it was a great idea.
- 2:31Speaker 4: And so yeah, I get to talk about college football.
- 2:33Speaker 5: When I want, with who I want on my own
- 2:35Speaker 5: terms now, and like, that's really really exciting.
- 2:38Speaker 4: So I hope you guys will give me a follout.
- 2:39Speaker 2: How does your boss deal with sick days? How does
- 2:41Speaker 2: your boss deal with you know, just in general vacation time?
- 2:45Speaker 2: How is your boss with that?
- 2:47Speaker 5: I wish she was a little more chill. She needs
- 2:49Speaker 5: to stand next or something. Miss girl needs to calm down.
- 2:54Speaker 2: She loves college football more than anyone I know. I'm
- 2:57Speaker 2: serious and I'm including bear in that conversation. No one
- 3:00Speaker 2: loves college football more. I haven't gotten your thoughts on
- 3:04Speaker 2: this because I haven't seen you or spoken to you
- 3:05Speaker 2: in quite some time, But a twenty fourteen playoff it
- 3:09Speaker 2: seems ridiculous. They're ripping what makes college football. They're taking
- 3:13Speaker 2: out what makes college football great, and that is the
- 3:16Speaker 2: regular season flowing right into the playoffs.
- 3:18Speaker 3: What are your thoughts on this?
- 3:19Speaker 5: Lucy, couldn't hate it more, couldn't hate it more if
- 3:22Speaker 5: I tried, And like, I think it's important for me
- 3:24Speaker 5: to mention that, like my team would absolutely be the
- 3:27Speaker 5: most befitted by a twenty fourteen playoffs, her team is
- 3:30Speaker 5: on I want to playoffs every single year, and I
- 3:33Speaker 5: still hate it so much that I can't. I can't
- 3:35Speaker 5: allow that. Like you said, it's a regular season sport.
- 3:38Speaker 5: I think Sark made a really good point at SEC
- 3:40Speaker 5: coaches meetings where he was like, the playoff is the
- 3:42Speaker 5: regular season, Like everyone has their chance, we all start
- 3:46Speaker 5: at zero zero. And I would be okay with playoff
- 3:49Speaker 5: expansion if I knew that all those spots were going
- 3:51Speaker 5: to the Big Ten and the SEC. But they all
- 3:53Speaker 5: are so like, just leave it alone. I don't even
- 3:55Speaker 5: think we should have gone to twelve like that was
- 3:57Speaker 5: too far.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Yes, it's the only good point Sark has made the
- 4:00Speaker 2: entire offseason, and he just keeps running his mouth.
- 4:02Speaker 3: How about he shut up?
- 4:03Speaker 5: I made Seriously, I think Texas is going to be
- 4:06Speaker 5: unreal this year because Sark is just like I have
- 4:08Speaker 5: nothing to live right now, Like he is saying everything.
- 4:10Speaker 4: That I've genuinely like.
- 4:12Speaker 5: My pick to win the National Championship right now is Oregon,
- 4:14Speaker 5: and I'm like I should change it to Texas. The
- 4:16Speaker 5: way Sark is talking right now, like he is looking
- 4:19Speaker 5: at the sea and being like I can literally say
- 4:21Speaker 5: whatever I want, Lucy.
- 4:22Speaker 7: He talked all that crap about Texas Tech, and Joey
- 4:25Speaker 7: McGuire called his bluff and challenged him to that Week
- 4:28Speaker 7: one game. If you're Texas, wouldn't you want to play
- 4:33Speaker 7: this Texas Tech team when they don't know who their
- 4:35Speaker 7: quarterback is and even on a neutral field, you would
- 4:38Speaker 7: assume Texas would still beat Texas Tech pretty handily.
- 4:42Speaker 3: I don't.
- 4:43Speaker 5: I think this was like the most brilliant pr move
- 4:46Speaker 5: by McGuire ever, because first, Texas looks bad.
- 4:49Speaker 4: No matter what, They're not going to play you.
- 4:51Speaker 5: There's no benefit for Texas to play you because they
- 4:53Speaker 5: have Ohio State Week two, and you're asking them to
- 4:56Speaker 5: give up a home game, Like, there's no benefit to
- 4:58Speaker 5: figuring it out against Texas because although yeah, quarterback situation
- 5:02Speaker 5: is obviously a big question mark there, their defense is
- 5:04Speaker 5: still really really good. So like I would rather warm
- 5:07Speaker 5: up with Texas State for Ohio State than Texas Tech.
- 5:11Speaker 5: And it's a bonus, like great pr move because one,
- 5:13Speaker 5: you make Texas look bad.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Second, we stopped talking about.
- 5:15Speaker 5: Brendan Sorosby for a little bit, and like that worked
- 5:17Speaker 5: out pretty well for a Tech because Wow, he's been
- 5:21Speaker 5: up to stuff.
- 5:22Speaker 3: I was gonna ask you about him, Yes, busy, Yes,
- 5:24Speaker 3: you led right where is he?
- 5:26Speaker 2: Let?
- 5:26Speaker 7: Is he right where he wanted to go?
- 5:27Speaker 3: Funny because I was going to preface.
- 5:29Speaker 6: This by saying, like I'm always intimidated now if I
- 5:31Speaker 6: asked Lucy anything, because very similar to Dominique Foxworth and
- 5:34Speaker 6: me having a terrible text exchange that I talked about yesterday. Yes,
- 5:37Speaker 6: I texted Lucy last college football season. I think it
- 5:40Speaker 6: was like a house call for like to start off
- 5:42Speaker 6: the game maybe on a kickoff return for an Iowa
- 5:44Speaker 6: player and it was a white dude and I just said,
- 5:47Speaker 6: like a white guy house call, that's that's pretty awesome.
- 5:49Speaker 6: I forget what my term was. And then she's like, oh, yeah, no,
- 5:52Speaker 6: I does that all the time.
- 5:53Speaker 3: And I was like great.
- 5:54Speaker 6: We were like, oh my god, I can't now I
- 5:56Speaker 6: can't text her for at least six months.
- 5:57Speaker 3: I gave myself a six month penalty.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Cooper Dejan did that every game for Iowa, every single game, Like,
- 6:03Speaker 5: I don't know, we got a factory or something where
- 6:05Speaker 5: we just push out these white returners.
- 6:07Speaker 3: It's insane. But speaking a factory, Indiana.
- 6:09Speaker 2: On a second, she remembers this exchange. You remember is
- 6:12Speaker 2: he texting you? Because Dominique did not remember at all when.
- 6:14Speaker 3: He was busy.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I was.
- 6:16Speaker 4: I remember it because I was at the Wreckers game.
- 6:18Speaker 5: The Iowa I was like front row, which actually really
- 6:21Speaker 5: kind of fun in game experience. We sat on the
- 6:23Speaker 5: front row fifty dollars tickets. The situation from the Jersey
- 6:25Speaker 5: Shore was there and they had a petting suit.
- 6:27Speaker 4: It was a wild time.
- 6:28Speaker 5: They're also giving up free TVs like Wreckers is crazy,
- 6:31Speaker 5: but Iowa ran it back the first play.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Of the game, and is he texted me?
- 6:35Speaker 5: And like, I get a bunch of those texts when
- 6:37Speaker 5: I away does that stuff and I'm like, this is
- 6:38Speaker 5: like literally one of the.
- 6:40Speaker 8: Only things were really really good at but uh sore
- 6:44Speaker 8: when he was in Indiana betting on himself or betting
- 6:46Speaker 8: on the team the entire time, and his explanation for
- 6:49Speaker 8: it's kind of hilarious to me.
- 6:50Speaker 3: What are your thoughts on that whole situation.
- 6:52Speaker 5: It's i mean, his lawyers there grasping at this point, like, yeah,
- 6:57Speaker 5: you know he he bet on Indiana forty times in
- 7:00Speaker 5: one month just because he wanted to support his brothers.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Connected, Yeah, I understand that.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Actually, could you not just say good job, like, hey,
- 7:08Speaker 5: good luck out there rooting for you.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Let me know if you need any help with.
- 7:11Speaker 6: Crappy like sunglasses, you want to give me a pair
- 7:13Speaker 6: of sunglasses, thank you.
- 7:16Speaker 4: It's it's insane.
- 7:17Speaker 5: And the nc double A and some of these like
- 7:19Speaker 5: kind of core proceedings that have happened made a great
- 7:21Speaker 5: point of like, hey, if this was such a mental
- 7:23Speaker 5: health that so part of the arguments for the team
- 7:26Speaker 5: is making is like nobody will ever come forward again,
- 7:28Speaker 5: And the NCAA was like, you didn't come forward.
- 7:30Speaker 4: We caught you, like like.
- 7:32Speaker 5: You you didn't come out and say this, and so
- 7:35Speaker 5: they're like, no one's ever going to come forward regardless,
- 7:38Speaker 5: and you apparently this like big you know, mental health problem,
- 7:41Speaker 5: which I don't mean to like downplay gambling addictions very real.
- 7:44Speaker 5: You didn't solve until you got caught, So like, I
- 7:47Speaker 5: don't necessarily know if like you're leading with the best
- 7:50Speaker 5: intentions here. It's there's one rule. There's one rule that
- 7:54Speaker 5: the NC douable A says you cannot break. You cannot
- 7:56Speaker 5: bet on your own team. And he did it a
- 7:59Speaker 5: ton of time. He did it time and time again.
- 8:02Speaker 5: He did it so much that when he moved to Texas,
- 8:04Speaker 5: he was texting his friends being like, I got you
- 8:06Speaker 5: gotta place this.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Bet almost like self hoe sixty.
- 8:09Speaker 5: Thousand dollars worth, like insane numbers, and so they've already.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Set the president.
- 8:14Speaker 5: This happened with Iowa, and Iowa stated a couple of
- 8:16Speaker 5: years back, and I know Iowa was one of our
- 8:19Speaker 5: really good players, was out for a full year for
- 8:21Speaker 5: placing like a single bet on the women's basketball team.
- 8:24Speaker 4: He bet on himself a bunch.
- 8:27Speaker 5: Also, I do love his team's argument though, of being
- 8:29Speaker 5: like he didn't bet on them to lose not bet.
- 8:32Speaker 4: On his team to lose.
- 8:34Speaker 3: What's the opposite of point shaving your point hair growing?
- 8:38Speaker 7: This is crazy, Lucy, What did you think of his
- 8:40Speaker 7: defense saying that since it was in twenty twenty two,
- 8:44Speaker 7: I lost most of the bets because Indiana was bad.
- 8:46Speaker 3: It's fair.
- 8:47Speaker 5: No, that was just so awesome of him, like a
- 8:50Speaker 5: little too soon, little too early, Like we weren't even good, dude,
- 8:54Speaker 5: my bets didn't make any difference, which also that means
- 8:57Speaker 5: you're not really supporting your teammates that much because your
- 8:59Speaker 5: bets didn't do it.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Wait, so he was two years behind or maybe ahead
- 9:03Speaker 2: on thinking Indiana was going to be great.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Yeah, right, he was like visionary.
- 9:08Speaker 5: Stayed there, stayed there a little bit longer, kept that going, Wow,
- 9:13Speaker 5: you would not need to play you would not need
- 9:15Speaker 5: to play football ever again. Whatever Texas Tech was paid
- 9:18Speaker 5: him this year, which is probably five six million dollars,
- 9:20Speaker 5: he would.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Have made, would have made that would have been mind
- 9:22Speaker 2: blowing had he done future.
- 9:24Speaker 6: Bets on imagine the number he would have gone on
- 9:27Speaker 6: Indiana winning the national championship two years ago.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Well, they would have caught him so fast that ship.
- 9:32Speaker 4: They were like, no way, no way.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Uh, Lucy, what's the best thing to come out of
- 9:37Speaker 2: the SEC meetings.
- 9:40Speaker 4: That's a good question. Most of the time, the SEC
- 9:43Speaker 4: meetings are dumb.
- 9:43Speaker 5: I would say the best thing, kind of going back
- 9:45Speaker 5: to the twenty four team playoff, was Mike Elko being
- 9:49Speaker 5: the only person with a brain who came out and
- 9:51Speaker 5: was like, yeah, the twenty four team playoff would be
- 9:54Speaker 5: awesome for me personally. Yes, we're going to make the
- 9:56Speaker 5: playoff more. It would be so awful for our sport.
- 9:59Speaker 5: And no, when else is saying it right, and he
- 10:01Speaker 5: was the only one to come out and just be like,
- 10:03Speaker 5: I know why people are supporting it. It's because it
- 10:05Speaker 5: helps them. It does not help anybody else beyond that.
- 10:09Speaker 5: And so Mike Elcho's honesty, Steve Sarkisan just like fighting
- 10:12Speaker 5: with everybody for no reason.
- 10:13Speaker 4: None, basket weaven, all this stuff.
- 10:15Speaker 5: I don't know what his deal is, but yeah, as
- 10:17Speaker 5: you see coaches meetings, we got to get like I
- 10:20Speaker 5: wish they filmed it like reality TV style, Like I
- 10:23Speaker 5: think there should be confessionals and camera zoom ins and
- 10:26Speaker 5: like breaking the fourth.
- 10:27Speaker 8: Wall, because yeah, confessionals is a great idea, yes, but
- 10:31Speaker 8: who does it help the most to twenty fourteen playoff.
- 10:33Speaker 2: All I'm all in with Lincoln Riley. That's my guy.
- 10:36Speaker 2: That's the guy this is gonna bet. It's gonna benefit
- 10:38Speaker 2: him the most because right now he's a perceived quarterback
- 10:40Speaker 2: guy and that's all he is. He's done no winning there,
- 10:43Speaker 2: But now he'll be able to say, hey made the
- 10:45Speaker 2: playoffs last year as a twenty one seed.
- 10:48Speaker 4: He needs it so bad this year.
- 10:49Speaker 5: He's like, if if they don't win this year, he's
- 10:52Speaker 5: gonna get fired because they had, I believe, the number
- 10:55Speaker 5: one recruiting class this year. So like, if you don't
- 10:57Speaker 5: come in and you don't win, like you're screwed. It
- 11:00Speaker 5: benefits Lincoln Riley, It very much benefits Iowa. It benefits like,
- 11:04Speaker 5: what's a team that's always run that twenty four mark
- 11:06Speaker 5: every year? Like Kansas State? Yes, y, Like that's that's
- 11:09Speaker 5: who this is for. And I would love to see
- 11:12Speaker 5: my team in the playoff, but not enough to kill
- 11:15Speaker 5: the sport, Like not that bad.
- 11:18Speaker 6: We talked about Texas a little bit lucy, and so
- 11:20Speaker 6: just so you know, my entire focus this football season
- 11:23Speaker 6: is just seeing if the Dolphins can get this right
- 11:26Speaker 6: right because if there's a manning in a Dolphins uniform
- 11:30Speaker 6: next year. That's going to be incredible. And I mean,
- 11:33Speaker 6: this is a little side note. I know this is
- 11:35Speaker 6: like exactly what you want to get away from. But
- 11:36Speaker 6: if Jannie and Manning are here at the same time.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Good lord.
- 11:40Speaker 6: So what are we going to see from Texas? Is
- 11:42Speaker 6: Arch going to be the man this year? Or is
- 11:44Speaker 6: it going to be one of those where I'm like, wow,
- 11:46Speaker 6: we're tanking. We're not even sure if he's that good.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Arch.
- 11:49Speaker 5: Arch is a victim of his family name, which is
- 11:52Speaker 5: funny because like Nepo, baby, like your family name is
- 11:54Speaker 5: awesome and it's made you a ton of money and
- 11:56Speaker 5: you flicked a really great life. But the last the
- 11:59Speaker 5: last season, the first couple weeks was just Arch like
- 12:02Speaker 5: had the most unbelievable expectations I think I've ever seen
- 12:05Speaker 5: for a college football player going into a season that
- 12:08Speaker 5: like hadn't started. So he came in. He struggled against
- 12:11Speaker 5: Iowa State, he or Ohio State. He struggled the first
- 12:13Speaker 5: four games of the season, and then was really really
- 12:15Speaker 5: good the last six games of the year.
- 12:18Speaker 4: He was really solid.
- 12:20Speaker 5: Why I think we're gonna see huge jumps from Texas
- 12:23Speaker 5: and Arch Manning this year is because they did not
- 12:25Speaker 5: have a.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Run game at all last season.
- 12:27Speaker 5: They went and got two really good running backs Hollywood
- 12:29Speaker 5: Smothers from NC State, they got an Arizona State running back,
- 12:32Speaker 5: and then they got my favorite player in the portal,
- 12:34Speaker 5: Cam Coleman, a wide receiver from Auburn. Every time you
- 12:37Speaker 5: throw the ball to Cam Coleman, I don't care what
- 12:40Speaker 5: the coverage is, it is catchable. If he is there,
- 12:43Speaker 5: he will make Arch so much better. Texas went crazy
- 12:46Speaker 5: in the portal this offseason. Got everything I think they needed.
- 12:50Speaker 5: I think you're gonna see Arch take a huge jump,
- 12:52Speaker 5: specifically just because they will not have to rely on
- 12:55Speaker 5: him as much with a better run game.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Real quick, did you say Hollywood Smothers? Yea an.
- 13:00Speaker 6: Also, I'm sorry I saw that twitch on your face
- 13:03Speaker 6: when I mentioned Miami Heat. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 13:09Speaker 7: Lucy. What did you think about Kirby Smart saying we
- 13:13Speaker 7: could just leave the NC double A And when pushed
- 13:16Speaker 7: even further, he was like, I'm just thinking of all
- 13:19Speaker 7: the other sports.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I'm laughing at the faces she's making as you asked
- 13:22Speaker 2: that question.
- 13:25Speaker 5: Enough enough, Kirby, you got problems in your program. You
- 13:28Speaker 5: gotta deal with not this, Okay, like enough. I don't
- 13:32Speaker 5: think what Kirby said mattered to me as much as
- 13:35Speaker 5: Iowa State Athletic Director Jamie Pollard coming out basically saying
- 13:39Speaker 5: the same thing like a week prior, where he was like,
- 13:42Speaker 5: what if the rest of us we just decided we're
- 13:44Speaker 5: not putting up with the big ten in the SEC
- 13:46Speaker 5: anymore and we go do our own thing. I think
- 13:48Speaker 5: that is more likely to happen than what Kirby smart did.
- 13:51Speaker 5: I just like, there's no way, There's no way, And like,
- 13:55Speaker 5: am I gonna like play the card a little bit
- 13:57Speaker 5: of like, yeah, you're saying this when the big ten
- 13:58Speaker 5: is one three straight national champion. Yeah, I do think
- 14:01Speaker 5: that's a teeny tiny part of it. But like shut up,
- 14:04Speaker 5: like enough enough not to not today, Kirby, I have
- 14:07Speaker 5: enough from Stark here, like you just go to your
- 14:09Speaker 5: own thing.
- 14:11Speaker 2: We'll get to Lucy or Goosey, a game we used
- 14:13Speaker 2: to play with Lucy here in just a second, we
- 14:15Speaker 2: have a six pack of Lucy or Goosey's for you,
- 14:18Speaker 2: because I'm so happy to see you. I demanded a
- 14:20Speaker 2: six pack. But before we get to that, it is
- 14:22Speaker 2: early June. But it's not early enough to make national
- 14:25Speaker 2: championship predictions, So do me a favor here. Who is
- 14:29Speaker 2: your National Championship game prediction in early June? Realizing it
- 14:33Speaker 2: could change and it should change, and I change mind
- 14:36Speaker 2: every other day.
- 14:36Speaker 5: So I love Oregon right now. Dante Moore coming back
- 14:40Speaker 5: is everything. That entire defensive line coming back is everything.
- 14:43Speaker 5: They might have the best receiver room in the country.
- 14:46Speaker 5: This is the most talented organ team we have seen
- 14:49Speaker 5: under Dan Landing so far. I just really really believe
- 14:52Speaker 5: in what they're doing. I think interesting enough with the offseason,
- 14:55Speaker 5: they really did not hit the portal that hard for
- 14:57Speaker 5: like Oregon standards, because they've really started to develop within
- 15:01Speaker 5: their program. The only real concern I have with Oregon
- 15:04Speaker 5: two new coordinators, but they're both in house, so I
- 15:06Speaker 5: don't necessarily see this bit they're being this like big
- 15:09Speaker 5: crazy jump. And then also they kind of have a
- 15:11Speaker 5: crazy schedule to in the ear where it's they're at
- 15:14Speaker 5: Oregon and then they're at like Northwestern, and then they're
- 15:16Speaker 5: back at Oregon, and then they're like at Illinois and
- 15:18Speaker 5: their back, and then they're at Michigan and they're back,
- 15:20Speaker 5: and like they are going like this for a bunch
- 15:23Speaker 5: of the season, and eventually that much travel I do
- 15:26Speaker 5: think will wear on them. But I think Oregon is
- 15:28Speaker 5: really really good. And then, like I said earlier, I'm
- 15:30Speaker 5: kind of buying into Texas right now. I love what
- 15:33Speaker 5: they did in the off season. I love that Sarcus
- 15:35Speaker 5: out here just like talking and when he's he didn't
- 15:38Speaker 5: talk like this last year. He's talking because he really
- 15:40Speaker 5: believes in what that team has. Right now, I think
- 15:42Speaker 5: they're gonna be very, very good. Those are my two
- 15:44Speaker 5: front runners right now.
- 15:45Speaker 6: Can I ask something before we get to Lucy or Goosey?
- 15:47Speaker 6: Of course, and I want you guys to study Lucy
- 15:49Speaker 6: as I'm asking the question.
- 15:52Speaker 3: We're all staring at Lucy.
- 15:53Speaker 6: What are your expectations of the Miami Hurricanes.
- 15:58Speaker 5: They're gonna be I mean, I saw, yeah, Yeah, they're
- 16:01Speaker 5: gonna they're gonna be good. I don't I don't have
- 16:04Speaker 5: the aec is not strong. Darien Minsa is a great quarterback.
- 16:07Speaker 5: I think he's a better fit for what Miami is
- 16:09Speaker 5: trying to do than what Carson Beck was. I think
- 16:11Speaker 5: he's a lot more reliable than Carson Beck was. I
- 16:13Speaker 5: think they're improving on that position. Miami is going to
- 16:16Speaker 5: be very good. I feel like right now they are
- 16:18Speaker 5: the acc team to be their sort of the lock
- 16:20Speaker 5: for the playoff. It's it'll all come down to that
- 16:23Speaker 5: Notre Dame game, really is. That is when I think
- 16:25Speaker 5: we're gonna see kind of the best of the best.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Because if I didn't pick Texas or Oregon for National Championship,
- 16:29Speaker 5: I would.
- 16:29Speaker 6: Pick So that would suggest that, like, this year's talent
- 16:32Speaker 6: is just better. Right, The teams are better because you've
- 16:34Speaker 6: got a better quarterback for their system and they you know,
- 16:36Speaker 6: were runners up last year.
- 16:38Speaker 4: Yeah, it's Carson Beck. I like don't think it's fair
- 16:42Speaker 4: to take sort of.
- 16:43Speaker 5: The last moment of his season, even though he did
- 16:45Speaker 5: repeat that a lot like Carson Beck was good last year.
- 16:48Speaker 4: I don't think there's any like arguing with that.
- 16:50Speaker 5: You're not gonna get those moments, those like backbreaking Carson
- 16:53Speaker 5: Beck moments from Darien Mensa. That's just not gonna happen.
- 16:56Speaker 5: I trust Mario Christobal with that offensive line. I like
- 16:59Speaker 5: Corey Otherman as the defensive coordinator there, Like you've already
- 17:03Speaker 5: seen just these crazy jumps. I think Miami will be
- 17:06Speaker 5: very very good. I just you're not going to have
- 17:11Speaker 5: that Carson Beck moment, which is why I see the jump.
- 17:13Speaker 5: I don't necessarily know if, like losing the Syracuse Week
- 17:15Speaker 5: eight is in the courts.
- 17:16Speaker 2: This year, Lucy, is there a program out there that
- 17:19Speaker 2: you see as perhaps the next Indiana, Like someone just
- 17:22Speaker 2: coming out of nowhere's asking.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Yeah, No, honestly no, I think that what Indiana has
- 17:31Speaker 5: done is never going to be replicated. I think the
- 17:35Speaker 5: extremes of that will never happen again, because you will
- 17:39Speaker 5: never have a program that bad become that good again
- 17:41Speaker 5: in such a short amount of time. I think you're
- 17:44Speaker 5: going to see teams just gradually improve. I think a
- 17:48Speaker 5: lot of the coaching cycle hires that were made this year,
- 17:51Speaker 5: Penn State's going to make a huge jump. I think
- 17:52Speaker 5: Virginia Tech is going to make a huge jump. Oklahoma
- 17:55Speaker 5: State's going to make a huge jump. But I don't
- 17:57Speaker 5: think you'll ever have what Indiana was ever happen again,
- 18:02Speaker 5: like on any level of college football or sports again,
- 18:05Speaker 5: because it's such a crazy turnaround.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Iowa Sam and Lucy, this is your whole okay, because
- 18:22Speaker 2: we have a board op. His name is Iowa Sam.
- 18:24Speaker 2: You guys are kindred spirits. Iowa Sam, give me the
- 18:27Speaker 2: music here for Lucy or Goosey.
- 18:30Speaker 4: I have props, I found them.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Okay, we have music. How about that?
- 18:33Speaker 6: I mean, I will say this though, Lucy, Iowa sam
- 18:36Speaker 6: like sort of sort of goes between Iowa shirts and
- 18:39Speaker 6: Iowa State shirts.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I think he's just a fan of the not true.
- 18:43Speaker 3: What on you? I don't wear Iowa State gear. What
- 18:46Speaker 3: are you crazy?
- 18:46Speaker 7: I've never seen him.
- 18:47Speaker 6: Wear Okay, so then, my wow, this is Mandelacorn. Like
- 18:51Speaker 6: the second day I've seen you, it was a cyclones
- 18:53Speaker 6: But no way, my bad.
- 18:55Speaker 2: What's Mandela have to do with it? Mikey just alerted me, Hey,
- 19:01Speaker 2: we can't hear the music. I'm not certain Lucy any
- 19:03Speaker 2: of the you can't hear your music.
- 19:05Speaker 4: I bet it sounds good.
- 19:07Speaker 2: It does sound great. Yeah, it sounds amazing. We have
- 19:10Speaker 2: a six back for you. Mikey A has three. Tailor
- 19:12Speaker 2: has three Mikey A take it away.
- 19:15Speaker 9: Another peak behind the curtain. Forgive us, Lucy, because Taylor
- 19:18Speaker 9: and I are trying to write a few of these
- 19:20Speaker 9: on the fly, because they took all of our questions
- 19:22Speaker 9: in the lead up.
- 19:23Speaker 3: To Lucy's Okay, so let's start here. Thick on your feet. Yeah,
- 19:29Speaker 3: Lucy or Goosey.
- 19:31Speaker 9: The Big Ten is the best conference in college football.
- 19:34Speaker 5: Okay, so my props Lucy is going to be this
- 19:36Speaker 5: dog stress ball.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Okay, and is going to be this basketball yeah. Okay,
- 19:41Speaker 3: Goosey is bad stress.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Oh no, it was confusing, So thank you for explaining.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yeah.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Lucy dog good basketball.
- 19:50Speaker 9: I'm looking at you as I say that, is he
- 19:54Speaker 9: basketball bad?
- 19:55Speaker 2: Is he?
- 19:56Speaker 3: Go ahead?
- 19:57Speaker 4: Lucy, our dog stress ball is great. The Big Ten
- 20:00Speaker 4: is far and away the best conference.
- 20:02Speaker 5: Indiana is bringing in Josh Houver. I don't really think
- 20:06Speaker 5: they're gonna miss like a beat from where they were
- 20:09Speaker 5: last season. They're very, very good again, and I think
- 20:11Speaker 5: what's so interesting about it is they are now not
- 20:15Speaker 5: building up with these mid major guys. They're going and
- 20:17Speaker 5: getting the powerful guys they want in the portal, so
- 20:20Speaker 5: they're only getting stronger in a way that's terrifying to me.
- 20:23Speaker 5: Michigan's very interesting. I'm excited to see sort of what
- 20:26Speaker 5: they do with Rice Underwood. I think they're going to
- 20:27Speaker 5: run him more this year. I think would be a
- 20:28Speaker 5: lot better because they're running him more this year with
- 20:30Speaker 5: Kyle Whittingham and changing sort of that offense up.
- 20:32Speaker 4: A little bit.
- 20:33Speaker 5: Ohio State is obviously reloading at every position. Oregon I
- 20:37Speaker 5: think could win the national championship. Penn State is going
- 20:40Speaker 5: to be significantly better with Matt Campbell in a much
- 20:43Speaker 5: easier schedule.
- 20:44Speaker 4: I just think the Big Ten is better.
- 20:46Speaker 3: I say, obviously, but all this information is new to me.
- 20:48Speaker 10: So Lucy or Goosey, Year two for Bill Belichick will
- 20:55Speaker 10: go better than year one, because how could it get
- 20:58Speaker 10: much worse?
- 20:59Speaker 3: Jesus.
- 21:00Speaker 5: I spent some time before this looking at you and
- 21:03Speaker 5: see's schedule, and so I'm gonna go Goosey just because
- 21:07Speaker 5: I'm like, I don't think they get I think they're
- 21:10Speaker 5: four and eight again, Like I just look at it
- 21:12Speaker 5: and I'm like.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Wow, not twelve. I'm not I had him going twelve
- 21:17Speaker 3: and oh last year I did.
- 21:19Speaker 5: Yeah, And like I just don't mean to be disrespectful,
- 21:22Speaker 5: but I don't know what Bobby Petrino and Bill Belichick
- 21:24Speaker 5: are gonna do together.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Like I just that's a room I don't want to
- 21:27Speaker 4: be in. That's that's a vibe I don't really want
- 21:29Speaker 4: to hurt of. Like that offense was horrendous last year.
- 21:33Speaker 4: And I don't know if Billy Edwards Junior is the fix. Yeah,
- 21:37Speaker 4: it's I believe.
- 21:38Speaker 5: They have Miami on the schedule. I think they have
- 21:39Speaker 5: Notre Dame on the schedule, Like it's they're not like
- 21:42Speaker 5: getting the easier teams.
- 21:44Speaker 4: In the ACC. Virginia's on the schedule as well.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Like I just know, Okay, sorry Taylor, he doesn't Gary
- 21:52Speaker 3: wants him.
- 21:52Speaker 7: Fire go ahead, Mikey.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Lucy or goosey.
- 21:55Speaker 9: Clemson will have a bounce back season.
- 22:00Speaker 4: I'm gonna go gooseye on that one as well.
- 22:03Speaker 5: Just don't really know what we're getting from the quarterback
- 22:05Speaker 5: position with Clemson. It's the vibes there. I don't know
- 22:09Speaker 5: if they've been worse, Like I just I'm I watched
- 22:13Speaker 5: an interview with Dabbo and Josh Pate the other day,
- 22:16Speaker 5: and ninety percent of that interview was Dabbo just explaining
- 22:19Speaker 5: why people really shouldn't be mad at.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Him, him just being like, you guys don't even get it.
- 22:23Speaker 5: We were brad this year and then you know, ten
- 22:25Speaker 5: years ago, but then we were good the next year,
- 22:26Speaker 5: and like that's what's gonna happen, Like, you guys don't
- 22:28Speaker 5: know what it's like, Like you could tell that. I
- 22:30Speaker 5: was like, I just don't feel good about what has
- 22:33Speaker 5: happened with Clemson, and just like, surprisingly based off of
- 22:37Speaker 5: what Clemson looked like, you wouldn't know this. They had
- 22:39Speaker 5: a ton of players drafted, like, they had a lot
- 22:42Speaker 5: of players really good leave and go off to the NFL.
- 22:45Speaker 5: You just didn't really see that production in college this
- 22:48Speaker 5: last year.
- 22:48Speaker 4: So they're losing a lot they had.
- 22:51Speaker 5: They finally used the portal for the first time, Clemson
- 22:53Speaker 5: goes out uses the portal, and then Dabbo's like, okay, ole, miss,
- 22:56Speaker 5: we're gonna fight to the death, like I'm gonna Me
- 22:59Speaker 5: and Pete Golding are gonna by the rest of time,
- 23:01Speaker 5: which is very interesting. We'll see how that plays out.
- 23:03Speaker 5: But I just don't think they did enough. And the
- 23:05Speaker 5: vibes are just so off right now. They're so wrong.
- 23:08Speaker 4: I just don't say getting better.
- 23:10Speaker 7: This one's for Izzy, Lucy or Goosey. Florida has the
- 23:13Speaker 7: talent to winning year one with John Sumral.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Oh man, that is so goosey. Hold up that basketball?
- 23:20Speaker 3: Oh wow? Yeah, Now tell me why, Lucy.
- 23:26Speaker 4: It's I like John Sumrall. I like him. I think
- 23:29Speaker 4: that he is like the right culture guy for Florida
- 23:32Speaker 4: right now.
- 23:33Speaker 5: I just like don't feel like I've seen enough to
- 23:34Speaker 5: be like, yeah, this is gonna be good, this is
- 23:36Speaker 5: gonna be good.
- 23:37Speaker 4: Year one.
- 23:37Speaker 5: I think Billy Napier did so much damage just in
- 23:40Speaker 5: the sense of the culture of that program of like
- 23:43Speaker 5: we have eight million guys on staff for no reason whatsoever.
- 23:47Speaker 4: They had to like basically they're all.
- 23:49Speaker 5: Like relearning how to do football. Because if we watch
- 23:52Speaker 5: Florida over the last few years, there is talent there
- 23:55Speaker 5: and it was right in front of you, Like DJ
- 23:57Speaker 5: Lagway had so much potential and so much hope. I
- 23:59Speaker 5: have ever seen a team that is just like, for
- 24:02Speaker 5: a lack of better term, so stupid with it where
- 24:04Speaker 5: you're like, you didn't need to do.
- 24:05Speaker 4: Any of that, Like that's the craziest penalty I've ever
- 24:07Speaker 4: seen it. Like it just doesn't make sense why you guys.
- 24:09Speaker 5: Are acting this way, Like everything you're doing, you're like,
- 24:11Speaker 5: I just say, I don't get it. And that time
- 24:13Speaker 5: that like type of stuff takes so much time to
- 24:16Speaker 5: fix into rework. And I really believe in Summer I
- 24:19Speaker 5: think he was like the right guy for Florida.
- 24:22Speaker 4: It's just not happening.
- 24:23Speaker 5: You're one that's exactly what you feel for him. I
- 24:26Speaker 5: feel bad because, like Kurt Signetti has started this like
- 24:29Speaker 5: you got to do it in one year and you
- 24:30Speaker 5: should go to the playoff in your first year, and
- 24:32Speaker 5: they've made it impossible for anybody else.
- 24:35Speaker 6: It's felt like they had so many things to try
- 24:37Speaker 6: to fix. It's just like Jesus, but that's the way
- 24:41Speaker 6: the whiteboard.
- 24:41Speaker 5: You're just starting from scratch, like it's it's just full
- 24:44Speaker 5: factory reset.
- 24:45Speaker 9: Goll bikey all right, last one for me, Lucy or goosey.
- 24:50Speaker 9: Lane Kiffen is better for college football than Kurt Signette.
- 24:54Speaker 4: Oh wow, that is such a good one.
- 24:58Speaker 9: I was proud of that one.
- 24:59Speaker 6: Yeah, oh wow, wow.
- 25:04Speaker 5: College every sport, college football included.
- 25:07Speaker 4: They need someone to root for and to root against.
- 25:11Speaker 5: And Kurt Signetti is gonna get old this year where
- 25:14Speaker 5: we're all like, Okay, this was cool that India is winning.
- 25:16Speaker 5: I'm kind of tired of it, like I want someone
- 25:19Speaker 5: else to win. Lane Kiffin, you'll you might get tired
- 25:22Speaker 5: of it, but you're gonna watch everything he says, everything
- 25:24Speaker 5: he does. I already look, I know that we all
- 25:28Speaker 5: don't really hang out that much, but September nineteenth, we're
- 25:30Speaker 5: still not hanging out that day.
- 25:31Speaker 4: I got plans.
- 25:33Speaker 5: I have like booked my calendar in advance, I've reached
- 25:35Speaker 5: out to people.
- 25:36Speaker 4: It's Jude, I'm like, don't even talk to me that again.
- 25:38Speaker 4: Like I got stuff going on.
- 25:40Speaker 7: He is.
- 25:41Speaker 5: He brings so much drama and intrigue and personality to
- 25:44Speaker 5: a sport for a long where for a long time
- 25:46Speaker 5: a lot of coaches like it was pretty much just
- 25:48Speaker 5: like spur your like being crazy and stuff. There wasn't
- 25:52Speaker 5: that level of like intrigue and personality and persona in
- 25:55Speaker 5: college football. Do I think sometimes he's bad for the sport, Absolutely,
- 25:58Speaker 5: but like it's fun to have someone to root for
- 26:01Speaker 5: if you like them, or root against if you don't.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Lovely love them.
- 26:04Speaker 2: H Lucy or goosey Off of that question, Baton Rouge
- 26:07Speaker 2: is less racist than Oxford Mississippi.
- 26:11Speaker 4: My god, that's crazy.
- 26:12Speaker 5: I will go as so much as been to both
- 26:15Speaker 5: those places. I'm gonna go Lucy on that one. Do
- 26:20Speaker 5: they both have Confederate mascots? Yeah, but one of them
- 26:23Speaker 5: is way more obvious than the other. So it's just like,
- 26:26Speaker 5: what are we doing, guys?
- 26:27Speaker 4: What are we doing?
- 26:28Speaker 9: All right?
- 26:28Speaker 2: I have two quick ones before we get you out here.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Open bar wedding Lucy or Goosey open bar wedding guy
- 26:34Speaker 2: walks up to the open bar, free alcohol and gets
- 26:37Speaker 2: a Shirley Temple Lucy or Goosey Lucy.
- 26:41Speaker 3: I love Temple.
- 26:42Speaker 4: I think to be like you. I went to a
- 26:45Speaker 4: restaurant as a kid. You guys want to road Charlie's.
- 26:47Speaker 5: Yes, yes, they used to do Shirley Temple's, but they
- 26:50Speaker 5: were cotton candy. So they just bring you like like
- 26:54Speaker 5: like a spark like sparkling and then a thing of
- 26:56Speaker 5: cotton candy you just put it in.
- 26:57Speaker 8: Now.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Is Chirley Temple in New York?
- 26:58Speaker 4: I think that needs to come back.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Yes, final one for us, Lucy Nixon five Lucy or Goosey.
- 27:06Speaker 4: Lucy. The energy is there. I like the up Taylor
- 27:10Speaker 4: to be happy.
- 27:10Speaker 5: Yes wow in five though, I have plans next week
- 27:16Speaker 5: so it would be convenient for me.
- 27:18Speaker 2: So what days are we not hanging out? September nineteenth,
- 27:21Speaker 2: I mean nineteenth.
- 27:22Speaker 4: I have sewing class tonight, so that's kind of tough.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Trying to put together.
- 27:27Speaker 5: I got plans next Friday night, so I'm like, let's
- 27:29Speaker 5: just map this out in a way that works everybody.
- 27:32Speaker 5: Nick Spurs, let's come together and look at my calendar in.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Class in New York City. Yes, yeh.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Follower at c FB Lucy. She is getting together with
- 27:42Speaker 2: Betch's Media and home Field Apparel.
- 27:44Speaker 3: I can't wait to see what it is you're doing.
- 27:46Speaker 2: I love that you're your own boss, and I love
- 27:48Speaker 2: that your own boss just lets you do whatever you want.
- 27:50Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 27:51Speaker 5: Yes, she does not, she's very She hates breaks. It's
- 27:55Speaker 5: like she's violating some code.
- 27:56Speaker 3: I'm taking a mental health day. No you're not, Lucy.
- 28:00Speaker 3: It's so good to see you. Thank you for doing this.
- 28:02Speaker 2: We watch you around here as often as you'd like
- 28:05Speaker 2: to be around here, and it's good to have you back.
- 28:08Speaker 4: Missed you, guys. This is so fun.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Yes, thank you, Liz bitches
