- 0:02Speaker 2: Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Freshly made with Reburger.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Don't fight it.
- 0:09Speaker 2: It's time to go up a size.
- 0:12Speaker 1: This is the biggest.
- 0:12Speaker 4: The biggest. The biggest.
- 0:13Speaker 3: This is the biggest.
- 0:14Speaker 5: Our biggest show.
- 0:15Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show.
- 0:16Speaker 6: With Jason Hoyt, Mike.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Minogue and Keezy.
- 0:19Speaker 6: Big Show.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Ah, g'day you massive backbones. It's the Hodaki Big Show
- 0:24Speaker 4: brought to you by the good people at Reburger making
- 0:26Speaker 4: Craveworthy Street Food Freshly made every burger.
- 0:30Speaker 5: Hooray, Worthy.
- 0:33Speaker 4: Mogi, mogi, mogi. How are you, man?
- 0:37Speaker 3: I'm hungover, man. I'm in pieces. It was a sunny
- 0:40Speaker 3: day yesterday. I went out. I got excited. There was
- 0:44Speaker 3: a crossroads. Ah. There was a fork in the road.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Yes.
- 0:48Speaker 3: There was an option B. There was a high road
- 0:51Speaker 3: and a low road. I took the low road. And
- 0:56Speaker 3: I got home, not too late, before midnight, but I
- 0:59Speaker 3: packed it and I packed in some quality drinking. It
- 1:01Speaker 3: was a sunny day and it got the better of
- 1:03Speaker 3: me and now I'm paying for it.
- 1:04Speaker 4: You did mention it yesterday during the show because it
- 1:07Speaker 4: was a beautiful day like this in Tāmaki Makaurau and
- 1:09Speaker 4: you said, man, I could... Really get on it.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Well, I don't know if I said that.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Maybe not get on it.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Maybe have a beer.
- 1:16Speaker 4: It was beer related.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and that's what it turned into. So anyway,
- 1:19Speaker 3: let's go easy on old Mogie there today. Flick us
- 1:22Speaker 3: a text, 3483. Cheer me up, man. Make me feel good.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Absolutely. We've got Reburger vouchers coming out of our ears
- 1:28Speaker 4: to give away. Every text goes in the drawer for
- 1:29Speaker 4: one of those. Or you can submit yours at the
- 1:32Speaker 4: Hauraki Big Show Instagram story. Great photo of Mogie there.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Has he gotten to work? Straight to the couch, straight
- 1:37Speaker 4: in the Lazy Boy with the foot rest up. And
- 1:40Speaker 4: just to get you started, the first one through the door,
- 1:43Speaker 4: lovely Go Easy on Mogi Day message. You're a disgrace.
- 1:46Speaker 3: You're a disgrace.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Thanks, mate. That was the first one out the gate.
- 1:50Speaker 4: So that's for you, man. But, Mogi, what's coming up
- 1:53Speaker 4: on the show, man? What's happening on The Big Show
- 1:58Speaker 4: with Old Mogi? What's happening on The Big Show with
- 2:00Speaker 4: Old Mogi?
- 2:00Speaker 3: Another day, another incredible opportunity to listen to Pugsan and Moggy.
- 2:05Speaker 3: We're still trying to name this show, so in amongst
- 2:08Speaker 3: being nice to me, Texas3483, if you can think of
- 2:10Speaker 3: a name that we can go with for the final week.
- 2:13Speaker 4: We are going to narrow down some finalists tomorrow, and
- 2:16Speaker 4: I've had probably my favourite one thus far messaged to
- 2:19Speaker 4: me directly on Instagram, so we'll run that one by
- 2:22Speaker 4: the end of it. You'll probably hate it.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd say so. And we're going to get into
- 2:26Speaker 3: people's icks. Yeah. I don't think we've done that on
- 2:29Speaker 3: the show before. There's a whole bunch of things. Normally
- 2:33Speaker 3: they're things that don't really make any sense, like somebody
- 2:37Speaker 3: who can't swim, which is pretty mean. But if you
- 2:41Speaker 3: see someone and they're struggling to swim.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Wasn't it Keezy's wife got one from someone trying to
- 2:48Speaker 4: run and pick up.
- 2:48Speaker 3: A ball or something like that? Oh, that's right.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Yeah, if you can't catch or you can't throw.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Uncoordinated. Generally physical related ones for her. And up next,
- 2:58Speaker 3: still going to be a little bit more go easy
- 3:00Speaker 3: on Mogi, Tex, and we're going to do songs from
- 3:04Speaker 3: bands that I like. And today it's going to be
- 3:06Speaker 3: Pugsan's turn. It's where we play a song from a
- 3:08Speaker 3: band that we like that's not necessarily on the Hodecky playlist.
- 3:11Speaker 4: You get it, man. And also today, I've heard that
- 3:16Speaker 4: there's a gig at Little Cuticle at some point in
- 3:18Speaker 4: this show.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Jeez, that's exciting, mate.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Possibly after five years.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Is that $ 250?
- 3:21Speaker 4: Yeah, your chance to win $ 250 to a band gig
- 3:24Speaker 4: or festy if you're choosing.
- 3:27Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:31Speaker 4: It's Bill Jam on the Hauraki Big Show. You've got
- 3:33Speaker 4: pugs and a somewhat dusty mogi. It's a go easy
- 3:37Speaker 4: on mogi day, mogi. What happened last night?
- 3:40Speaker 3: Well, I went home and I had a beer. A
- 3:44Speaker 3: couple of mates came over. They were going out to
- 3:47Speaker 3: a pub. I said, that's a good idea. And so
- 3:50Speaker 3: I went to the pub and then another mate turned up.
- 3:52Speaker 3: So I had a beer. Ordered a Stella, actually, and
- 3:55Speaker 3: it turned up and it was a massive beer. European
- 3:59Speaker 3: bucket you know it was a huge beer responsibly so
- 4:02Speaker 3: I had that I had another one of those then
- 4:04Speaker 3: my other mate turned up and then he got a
- 4:06Speaker 3: margarita okay and then I had to get and then
- 4:10Speaker 3: I had to get him a margarita and then now
- 4:13Speaker 3: and then we went out for dinner and then went
- 4:15Speaker 3: out for dinner and there was these two litres of
- 4:18Speaker 3: cocktail things so we thought we'd get one of those
- 4:22Speaker 3: because it'd be funny and then another couple of guys
- 4:24Speaker 3: turned up and then we got so we got two
- 4:26Speaker 3: of those There was a time when I was at dinner,
- 4:28Speaker 3: I was like, I should probably just go home now
- 4:29Speaker 3: before we even order.
- 4:31Speaker 7: Aye.
- 4:31Speaker 3: And I didn't.
- 4:33Speaker 4: It's nice to hear that somewhere amongst all that, you
- 4:36Speaker 4: had some food. I think that's really responsible.
- 4:37Speaker 3: I had about four dumplings. I don't know why I
- 4:40Speaker 3: thought I didn't really need dumplings, anything to eat. I
- 4:43Speaker 3: was just like, I was in that spot. So that
- 4:45Speaker 3: was an error as well.
- 4:46Speaker 4: It's getting to that time of year where... Those occurrences
- 4:49Speaker 4: are going to become slightly more frequent, I imagine. But
- 4:50Speaker 4: it is Go Easy on Mogi Day, so we're looking
- 4:52Speaker 4: for your messages of support on 3483. This one here,
- 4:56Speaker 4: every day should be nice to Mogi Day. That's really nice.
- 5:01Speaker 4: And conversely, on Instagram, this one here, grow a pair, Mogi,
- 5:05Speaker 4: you nutsack.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks, man.
- 5:06Speaker 4: So that's really nice.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll grow a pair.
- 5:10Speaker 4: In a similar vein, pull your socks up, wounder. Harden up.
- 5:15Speaker 4: At least your honker can't get any bigger. There you go.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Oh, that's not true, because your nose gets bigger as
- 5:21Speaker 3: you get older. Oh, okay, we'll veto that. Nose, ears,
- 5:24Speaker 3: and eyebrows, so I'm in trouble.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Walter is saying how good of a day it is
- 5:29Speaker 4: in Hamilton, so you might as well start hoeing in again.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Well, it is a night, but it's a bloody, it's
- 5:33Speaker 3: an even better day today in Auckland than it was yesterday.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 3: But I didn't really get to enjoy it, because I
- 5:38Speaker 3: was allergic to the sun today.
- 5:40Speaker 4: You're sort of playing vampire.
- 5:41Speaker 3: And also, the other thing that happened was, I think
- 5:43Speaker 3: I've lost my sunglasses, because I went out with sunglasses.
- 5:46Speaker 5: Oh.
- 5:47Speaker 3: And when I left the house today, I was like, oh, no.
- 5:50Speaker 3: So then you've got to sort of go back and
- 5:52Speaker 3: call the places you're at, and it's like.
- 5:54Speaker 6: It's just shameful because you're going there as the person
- 6:01Speaker 6: that you normally are instead of the wound that I
- 6:03Speaker 6: imagine I was last night.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Yes. And so I have to go back in their
- 6:06Speaker 3: tail between my legs. To be fair, though, there was
- 6:08Speaker 3: bartenders giving me shots at one point. Oh my God. Yeah,
- 6:11Speaker 3: so that was, yeah.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Well, at least you can have probably like a bit
- 6:15Speaker 4: less shame knowing that you would also lose your sunglasses
- 6:17Speaker 4: if you were dead sober.
- 6:18Speaker 3: That's 100% correct. It's a good point.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Keep your support messages coming in 3483 or on the
- 6:23Speaker 4: Hauraki Big Show Insta. Up next, songs from bands that
- 6:26Speaker 4: I like. It's my turn. It's Royal Blood on Hauraki.
- 6:31Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 6:35Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 6:37Speaker 4: That is Royal Blood on the Hauraki Big Show with
- 6:40Speaker 4: Pugs and Mogi and it's about 4.22 and it's time for....
- 6:46Speaker 6: Some of the bands that I like.
- 6:50Speaker 4: It's a brand new segment on the Hauraki Big Show
- 6:52Speaker 4: since Mogi and I have come into power.
- 6:54Speaker 3: That's right, that's right. We get to play any song
- 6:57Speaker 3: that we want from any band that we want and
- 7:00Speaker 3: ideally it's something that would fit on the Hauraki playlist
- 7:02Speaker 3: but it doesn't currently live there.
- 7:04Speaker 4: And a band that maybe we think should be played
- 7:06Speaker 4: more in some ways. We've had The Prodigy, we've had
- 7:10Speaker 4: Fontaine's DC and yesterday it was your choice Mogi, Manchester Orchestra.
- 7:14Speaker 3: That's right.
- 7:16Speaker 4: With an absolute thrasher of a tune.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Hell of a tune.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Slightly emo sort of vibes there. So it's my turn today,
- 7:22Speaker 4: and I've picked a band from Australia that I have
- 7:24Speaker 4: long since been hounding Prebs.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Preblo Escobar about getting them on the playlist, but he
- 7:31Speaker 4: doesn't reckon at this time. They're an Aussie band formed
- 7:36Speaker 4: in 2010. They've had 28 studio albums.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Wow.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Including five in one year, and most of those are
- 7:43Speaker 4: different genres each time. So that spans like psych rock,
- 7:46Speaker 4: jazz rock, metal, and most recently electronic. And this is
- 7:50Speaker 4: from their second most recent album. It is King Gizzard
- 7:53Speaker 4: and the Lizard Wizard on Radio Hauraki. You heard that right.
- 8:00Speaker 4: We want to hear your thoughts on 3483 every time
- 8:03Speaker 4: we do this segment. So let us know. It could
- 8:05Speaker 4: affect the playlist.
- 8:07Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 8:11Speaker 4: That is King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard on the
- 8:14Speaker 4: Hauraki Big Show with Dead Stick. And that was a
- 8:16Speaker 4: song from a band that I like on a new
- 8:18Speaker 4: segment that we're doing here on the Big Show where
- 8:19Speaker 4: Mogi and I each take turns playing tunes that we'd
- 8:21Speaker 4: like to hear more of on the playlist. And we've
- 8:25Speaker 4: got a few texts on 3483. Starting really strong with
- 8:27Speaker 4: Nope That Shit.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Which feels really good. Another one here. Drove these guys
- 8:33Speaker 4: around Aotearoa. Lovely bunch of young fellows. Great to hear
- 8:37Speaker 4: on the playlist. That's great. This one here. Get this
- 8:39Speaker 4: band on Coast.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Yeah, right. ASAP.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:43Speaker 4: A-S-A-P.
- 8:44Speaker 3: I'm not sure they'd want it. Would they?
- 8:46Speaker 5: Oh.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Oh, so what did you think of it, Mogi?
- 8:51Speaker 3: I actually really liked it. It's got a bit of
- 8:53Speaker 3: glam rock, bit of 70s, bit of T-Rex about it,
- 8:55Speaker 3: I thought.
- 8:55Speaker 4: It did have a bit of a T-Rex vibe, yep.
- 8:58Speaker 4: They have a whole plethora of different genres that those
- 9:01Speaker 4: guys cover over their music, and it's all good. If
- 9:04Speaker 4: I could listen to one band for the rest of
- 9:05Speaker 4: my life, it'd probably be them purely for their range.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Yep.
- 9:09Speaker 4: And the variety that that would bring me. Someone said,
- 9:12Speaker 4: don't mind that. Finally, some good music. Someone said, I
- 9:17Speaker 4: feel like I'm listening to a musical performance CD and
- 9:20Speaker 4: the lead is Robert Downey Jr. And similarly to that,
- 9:22Speaker 4: someone said, this sounds like the opening number from Mogi
- 9:25Speaker 4: and Pugs on Broadway.
- 9:27Speaker 3: How good.
- 9:28Speaker 4: I would pay to see that. Yeah, I would pay
- 9:30Speaker 4: to see that show. Just on giving your opinion on
- 9:32Speaker 4: the tunes, by the way, we do have another round
- 9:34Speaker 4: of the music jury. So that's your chance to actually
- 9:37Speaker 4: have your feedback, give a direct influence on the playlist
- 9:44Speaker 4: and get rewarded for it potentially. So if you do
- 9:46Speaker 4: it this week, the music jury, you can win yourself
- 9:48Speaker 4: a brand new Technic record player and a hundred bucks
- 9:50Speaker 4: worth of vinyl vouchers. So if you want to take
- 9:52Speaker 4: part in that, text music to 3483, I'll send you
- 9:55Speaker 4: back a link and you can fill out the survey,
- 9:56Speaker 4: get yourself in the draw. Now on the way after
- 9:59Speaker 4: the break, I managed to hold up the City Rail link. Oh, yeah.
- 10:04Speaker 4: This morning, and we have a bit of TV chat.
- 10:07Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 10:10Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Absolute shocker for me today coming into work, Moody.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Yeah, go on.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Started the day pretty early with a 7 a.m. Pilates class,
- 10:19Speaker 4: which is probably what threw me off for the rest
- 10:21Speaker 4: of the day. So I was already, like, I get
- 10:23Speaker 4: very dumb when I'm tired. You can't expect much from
- 10:26Speaker 4: me in the brain capacity area. So I caught the beautiful,
- 10:29Speaker 4: you heard about this? City Rail Link.
- 10:31Speaker 3: It's beautiful.
- 10:31Speaker 4: In Tāmaki Makaurau. I'm loving it. It's getting me home
- 10:35Speaker 4: every day. So I caught the train in and I
- 10:37Speaker 4: had to go pick up a pair of jeans. So
- 10:38Speaker 4: I went right into the central, I think it's Waitematā
- 10:42Speaker 4: or something like that in the CBD there in Auckland.
- 10:45Speaker 4: And as I'm stepping off the train, I'm holding my
- 10:48Speaker 4: keys in my hand, which are for my car, my house,
- 10:52Speaker 4: my storage unit, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And
- 10:54Speaker 4: I'm looking at the gap and it's, I swear to God,
- 10:58Speaker 4: it was slow motion. I'm looking at the gap between
- 11:00Speaker 4: getting off the train and getting onto the platform. And
- 11:03Speaker 4: I go, shit, that's a pretty small gap, but I
- 11:05Speaker 4: reckon my keys would fit through there.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Right.
- 11:07Speaker 4: What do you reckon happens?
- 11:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Drop my keys down the gap onto the train tracks
- 11:12Speaker 4: of the city rail link. It was like my body.
- 11:14Speaker 4: It was like that thing where you think about not
- 11:16Speaker 4: doing something so much that it inevitably happens.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:20Speaker 4: So I dropped them down there.
- 11:23Speaker 3: That's a shocker, Pugs.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Thank you so much. I really didn't think it was
- 11:26Speaker 4: possible with how tiny the gap was with my pre-thinking there.
- 11:30Speaker 4: And so I immediately go over to one of the
- 11:32Speaker 4: lovely staff and I say, hey, look, I'm so sorry.
- 11:35Speaker 4: I've dropped my keys in there. And I'm thinking, okay, well,
- 11:37Speaker 4: we'll have to wait.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Why are you apologising to her or him?
- 11:41Speaker 4: I apologise to them because it was my cock up.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:44Speaker 4: You know what I mean? I'm inconveniencing them.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Were they going to help you out? I would have
- 11:49Speaker 3: left you to it. Really? Yeah, I'd be surprised. What
- 11:52Speaker 3: do they do? What do they do? Well, that's it.
- 11:54Speaker 4: So I'm thinking, okay, well, surely they probably have some
- 11:56Speaker 4: safety protocol where it's got to be a staff member
- 11:58Speaker 4: that reaches down, grabs the keys in between the train things.
- 12:01Speaker 3: I would have just said, okay, I'll keep watch. I'll
- 12:06Speaker 3: keep watch. So, you know, it's up to you. You
- 12:08Speaker 3: can jump down there.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:10Speaker 3: And I'll just keep an eye out and I'll just
- 12:11Speaker 3: shout train.
- 12:12Speaker 4: If you were the staff member?
- 12:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. So you're not allowed to do that, evidently.
- 12:17Speaker 4: They have to lock out the entire part of the
- 12:20Speaker 4: rail until it's sorted. So they said, okay, you have
- 12:24Speaker 4: to wait here. I've got to go make a call.
- 12:26Speaker 4: And in the meantime, two more staff members come over.
- 12:29Speaker 4: So now there's three people talking to me. The main
- 12:31Speaker 4: lady goes over to the phone, makes a couple of
- 12:34Speaker 4: calls and says, okay, you've got to wait two trains
- 12:36Speaker 4: before we can lock this out.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Sure. Sweet.
- 12:38Speaker 4: So I wait for two trains. To go by. So
- 12:40Speaker 4: I'm standing there waiting. I'm like, look, it's my cock up.
- 12:42Speaker 4: That's fine.
- 12:43Speaker 3: I can do that. I can eat that.
- 12:44Speaker 7: No, no, no.
- 12:44Speaker 4: I was just... I don't get... Well, I do, but
- 12:48Speaker 4: not in this scenario. I was like, this is my bad.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Waiting there. Two trains go by. The guy comes over
- 12:54Speaker 4: with a little claw clip.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 4: A little long stick.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Yeah, this happens all the time.
- 12:59Speaker 4: And she made me feel better. She was like, look,
- 13:01Speaker 4: some of the train drivers do it. And then in
- 13:02Speaker 4: that time... They said, no, we have to wait for
- 13:05Speaker 4: another train. So another train comes over. Meanwhile, all the
- 13:08Speaker 4: staff are hearing about this. So three more come over.
- 13:11Speaker 4: So at the end, I've got six rail staff, including
- 13:15Speaker 4: security and like helpers or whatever, surrounding me.
- 13:19Speaker 3: It's like one of those things where if you're driving
- 13:21Speaker 3: and then somebody pulls over, they cut in front of you, right?
- 13:25Speaker 3: They don't indicate or anything like that. And so then
- 13:28Speaker 3: you just want to get up and you just want
- 13:29Speaker 3: to see the face of the idiot that's done it.
- 13:31Speaker 3: And that's what's happened here is, Word's gotten around the
- 13:34Speaker 3: train station and everybody's like, you're joking. What does a
- 13:38Speaker 3: person look like that does that?
- 13:39Speaker 4: That could be so dumb.
- 13:41Speaker 3: They've all come down. Did any of them like that
- 13:44Speaker 3: bloke that talked to Jay, did anybody look you in
- 13:46Speaker 3: the eye and just go, idiot?
- 13:48Speaker 4: No, I didn't get absolutely done like Horty Jay, but
- 13:51Speaker 4: I did have a guy go, So the security guard
- 13:54Speaker 4: that was going to get them, he had the claw stick.
- 13:55Speaker 4: He was like, oh, he was quite short.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Was that his job?
- 13:59Speaker 4: No.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Just his one job he's got?
- 14:01Speaker 4: So then a young buck comes over who's like six
- 14:03Speaker 4: foot five.
- 14:04Speaker 5: Longer arms.
- 14:04Speaker 4: And he's like, oh, you've got longer arms than me.
- 14:06Speaker 3: And hands him the stick.
- 14:07Speaker 4: And he's looking around. He looks at me and he goes,
- 14:08Speaker 4: are they Yorkies?
- 14:11Speaker 3: And I was like. I'm so sorry.
- 14:13Speaker 4: And so they had to lock down the whole part
- 14:15Speaker 4: of the rail while he reached over and grabbed the keys.
- 14:17Speaker 4: And then while he's reaching over to grab the keys,
- 14:19Speaker 4: some grandma looking after her grandkids is real curious and
- 14:22Speaker 4: has heard about it and leads the kids over to
- 14:25Speaker 4: look over the side of the tracks.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Oh, good stuff.
- 14:27Speaker 4: And then the staff are all going, what are you doing?
- 14:29Speaker 4: Can you back up?
- 14:30Speaker 3: Were my sunglasses down there?
- 14:32Speaker 4: They weren't down there, man. Sorry to tell you. Actually,
- 14:35Speaker 4: just on that, you know how it was? given you
- 14:37Speaker 4: crap about it before saying you would also lose your
- 14:39Speaker 4: son he's sober yeah two people have texted in on
- 14:42Speaker 4: 343 the same thing which is um losing your sunglasses
- 14:45Speaker 4: or leaving a dilly at your house sitting and if
- 14:48Speaker 4: you don't know what that means listen to yesterday's full
- 14:50Speaker 4: show podcast wherever you get yours.
- 14:52Speaker 2: The horaki big show weekdays from four on radio horaki.
- 14:59Speaker 4: What's on the telly with mike minogue.
- 15:05Speaker 3: I didn't watch anything last night because I was hammering
- 15:19Speaker 3: the piss.
- 15:20Speaker 4: Cool.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Irresponsibly.
- 15:22Speaker 4: And I'm paying the price for it now.
- 15:24Speaker 3: I'm paying the price for it now, right? So this
- 15:26Speaker 3: is not an advertisement. for drinking too much.
- 15:30Speaker 4: What's on the hangover with old Mogi?
- 15:33Speaker 3: Plenty. So instead, I'll talk about a podcast that I've
- 15:37Speaker 3: been listening to, which is called The Poisoned Wife, and
- 15:40Speaker 3: it comes from The Australian, which is a newspaper based
- 15:43Speaker 3: out of Australia, surprisingly. They do a whole bunch of podcasts.
- 15:47Speaker 3: This is the ninth season, each season being a different
- 15:51Speaker 3: crime that's been investigated. It Often cold cases, but all
- 15:56Speaker 3: sorts of different things.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:57Speaker 3: This particular one is about a fella there.
- 16:01Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 16:02Speaker 3: It's a fella there. Surprise, surprise.
- 16:03Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:05Speaker 3: And his wife dies of strychnine poisoning there.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Of what?
- 16:09Speaker 3: Strychnine is a poison. You can use it for... Farmers
- 16:13Speaker 3: use it.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Right.
- 16:14Speaker 3: It might be used to control rats. Okay. That sort
- 16:16Speaker 3: of thing. Not so much anymore, but highly, highly, like...
- 16:22Speaker 3: sort of an amount, it's a powder more often than not,
- 16:26Speaker 3: an amount the size of a match head would kill you.
- 16:30Speaker 3: So very, very little. So anyway, this fella here, he's
- 16:34Speaker 3: got his eye on getting a new missus and he's
- 16:36Speaker 3: been divorced before. And when he got divorced, the first
- 16:39Speaker 3: time he lost his farm, you know, the missus ended
- 16:42Speaker 3: up getting everything off him and he ended up with
- 16:43Speaker 3: very little. So anyway, his missus turns up dead, and
- 16:48Speaker 3: there's all of this evidence that sort of points towards
- 16:50Speaker 3: it being him, but nobody really thinks it was him,
- 16:53Speaker 3: so nothing happens to him. And so now 40 years later,
- 16:57Speaker 3: this journalist has gone along there, and this guy is brilliant,
- 17:00Speaker 3: this investigator. He has done ones before that have resulted in...
- 17:07Speaker 3: an arrest from 40 years ago. Wow. Exactly the same
- 17:11Speaker 3: thing really happened, and this journalist looked at it 40
- 17:13Speaker 3: years later and got this guy convicted of murder, found
- 17:16Speaker 3: out who the murderer was and got him convicted.
- 17:18Speaker 4: That's out of the gate.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Another one where a woman had been murdered and the guy,
- 17:22Speaker 3: it was clear who had done it, but they tested
- 17:25Speaker 3: the blood at the crime scene and no DNA was returned.
- 17:29Speaker 3: So a puddle of blood and no DNA was found
- 17:33Speaker 3: to be in a puddle of blood, which is... Odd.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Quite rare.
- 17:37Speaker 3: And so he did an investigation, and ultimately what it
- 17:39Speaker 3: led to was that the entire DNA testing system in
- 17:43Speaker 3: the state of Queensland was buggered, and dozens, if not hundreds,
- 17:47Speaker 3: of criminals have been getting away with crimes ranging from
- 17:50Speaker 3: every kind of horrific thing you can think of all
- 17:52Speaker 3: the way up to murder.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Because of the DNA.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Because the DNA testing was wrong. So this guy, he's
- 17:57Speaker 3: done all of his podcasts are amazing, so get a
- 17:59Speaker 3: handle on it. This particular one is called The Poisoned Wife,
- 18:02Speaker 3: but anything that you can do, With Hedley Thomas as
- 18:05Speaker 3: the journalist, they're all bloody brilliant.
- 18:07Speaker 4: It always amazes me when you have such focus and
- 18:11Speaker 4: discipline on one subject that you can literally affect the
- 18:15Speaker 4: outcome of a criminal case.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Yeah, not bad, eh?
- 18:17Speaker 4: That is unbelievable. That's life-affecting stuff. Also life-affecting is East
- 18:22Speaker 4: of Eden. I'm not going to spoil anything because I
- 18:24Speaker 4: watched it again last night. I'm watching it every night,
- 18:26Speaker 4: but I'm literally at the point... where it's so emotionally exhausting.
- 18:31Speaker 4: I cannot do more than one episode a night. And
- 18:34Speaker 4: I went to bed early last night because I got
- 18:36Speaker 4: to the end of it and I was like, I
- 18:37Speaker 4: can't do this. It was like 9pm. It's so draining, bro.
- 18:42Speaker 4: But it's five buzzies.
- 18:44Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 18:45Speaker 4: That's on Netflix.
- 18:45Speaker 3: So you've got, I think that's you five down. That
- 18:47Speaker 3: means you've got two to go.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Yeah, something like that.
- 18:49Speaker 3: I think it was 7-7 in the series. Yeah, I'm
- 18:52Speaker 3: looking forward to that. But as I think I said yesterday,
- 18:53Speaker 3: but I'm waiting for my wife to get back so
- 18:55Speaker 3: that I can watch the rest of it with her.
- 18:56Speaker 4: I'm sort of padding it out with Modern Family in
- 18:59Speaker 4: the meantime as a comfort show.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, good.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Actually, not bad. You know, actually pretty funny.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Yeah, right. It was that show.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Now, on the way after 5 on the big show,
- 19:07Speaker 4: we want to hear your icks. So 3483 is the
- 19:10Speaker 4: text number. Get in touch. Every contribution in the draw
- 19:13Speaker 4: for a Reburger voucher. And we're going to go over
- 19:15Speaker 4: maybe some of our partners or just ones we've heard of.
- 19:18Speaker 4: that are absolutely ridiculous. So send your ex through.
- 19:21Speaker 5: 3483.
- 19:21Speaker 4: It's the Hauraki Big Show.
- 19:25Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 19:28Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Yeah, welcome back, you massive backbones. It is the Big Show,
- 19:33Speaker 4: as always, brought to you by the good folks at ReBurger,
- 19:36Speaker 4: crave-worthy street food freshly made at ReBurger.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Any last words?
- 19:47Speaker 5: Uh, yeah, well, uh, actually, you know the image. it, well,
- 19:51Speaker 5: you should probably know, actually, all of you probably should. Um,
- 19:55Speaker 5: ReapBurger is crave-worthy, handcrafted, and that's all street food. So, yeah, yeah.
- 20:06Speaker 3: What?
- 20:09Speaker 4: What?
- 20:10Speaker 3: What? I'm going to get into our X here, pugs. Now,
- 20:15Speaker 3: this has come from me having a conversation with my wife.
- 20:20Speaker 3: I was asking her what her X were. And actually,
- 20:22Speaker 3: it's quite hard when you put it on the spot
- 20:24Speaker 3: to be able to come up with anything because you just, really,
- 20:27Speaker 3: you know it when you see it.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Yes, it is more of a spontaneous feeling.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Yeah, you get a look on your face straight away.
- 20:33Speaker 3: You're just like, ugh. No, that's not it. Anyway, she
- 20:36Speaker 3: couldn't come up with anything.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Oh, that's a good sign.
- 20:39Speaker 3: And then anyway, I was in bed at some point
- 20:42Speaker 3: there and watching something on my laptop. It feels like
- 20:46Speaker 3: I might have been hungover. That's generally what I'm doing.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. At your weakest.
- 20:50Speaker 3: And I came out to have a chat with my
- 20:52Speaker 3: beloved there and she said, oh, you know how you
- 20:54Speaker 3: were asking me about my icks? And I said, yeah.
- 20:59Speaker 3: And she said, it's when people walk around with chippy
- 21:02Speaker 3: crumbs all over their hoodies. So I'd been lying in
- 21:05Speaker 3: bed and I'd been eating chips and obviously just, I
- 21:09Speaker 3: tend to just use my body as a placemat.
- 21:12Speaker 5: Oh yeah.
- 21:13Speaker 3: You know what I mean? So there's just crumbs and
- 21:15Speaker 3: if there's chocolate, that's all over the place as well.
- 21:17Speaker 3: So anyway, that was good to know. Just me eating
- 21:20Speaker 3: like a toddler gave her the ick.
- 21:22Speaker 4: I have never heard my partner say that gave me
- 21:26Speaker 4: the ick and I'm very grateful for that.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:28Speaker 4: And that's not for lack of trying. I have asked
- 21:30Speaker 4: her many times if something I did has given her
- 21:33Speaker 4: the ick.
- 21:33Speaker 5: Yep.
- 21:34Speaker 4: And she has also said no. Even if she cringes
- 21:37Speaker 4: out a little, it's not quite ick level. I think
- 21:41Speaker 4: for some people the ick is like the end. It's like,
- 21:43Speaker 4: I'm not going to get over this. But the one
- 21:45Speaker 4: time that was the closest was when we'd just done
- 21:47Speaker 4: a massive bushwalk, and it was on a gravel path,
- 21:50Speaker 4: and we're going through the bush. We get all the
- 21:51Speaker 4: way to the end of the path to the street,
- 21:54Speaker 4: and just as I get to the end of the street,
- 21:55Speaker 4: I slip and eat shit on the gravel, but it
- 21:57Speaker 4: wasn't one of those ones where I just fall flat.
- 21:59Speaker 4: You try to save yourself.
- 22:00Speaker 3: It was like a whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Step, step, step, step. Eat shit and roll over.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Do you know, I had that once. I had that once. Jeez,
- 22:09Speaker 3: when was that? 1999, so some years ago. Stuck with you.
- 22:14Speaker 3: I'd been out at a bar when I was backpacking
- 22:20Speaker 3: in Australia.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:22Speaker 3: And look, I met a lovely young lady. There he is.
- 22:27Speaker 3: We walked back to the hostel, which was some kilometres away.
- 22:31Speaker 3: And I was saying g'day to the security because I
- 22:34Speaker 3: worked at the hostel. So I was saying g'day to
- 22:35Speaker 3: the security guard as I walked in. Forgot about the
- 22:38Speaker 3: rock circle that was in the middle that people use
- 22:41Speaker 3: as a roundabout. Yeah. And I tripped over that and
- 22:44Speaker 3: it took me, I saved myself. Yeah. But it took
- 22:48Speaker 3: me about 20 metres to save myself. Well, I should
- 22:50Speaker 3: have just.
- 22:51Speaker 4: You should have just taken it.
- 22:52Speaker 3: I should have just gone down. Yeah. And she just goes,
- 22:55Speaker 3: I'm going back to my room.
- 22:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:59Speaker 3: And I think about that every day.
- 23:01Speaker 4: Well, since 99. I'm looking at Dillian here in B-Studio
- 23:05Speaker 4: and he is cringing. Send your ick to 3483. The
- 23:08Speaker 4: Hauraki Big.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at
- 23:13Speaker 2: 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Having some ick chat. Mogi, tell them why.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Yeah, well, my wife said that she gets the ick
- 23:20Speaker 3: when I'm covered in crumbs from eating chippies and stuff.
- 23:26Speaker 4: And she was reminded of that because you had asked
- 23:28Speaker 4: her previously. She had said no.
- 23:31Speaker 3: She said she didn't have any icks or she couldn't
- 23:32Speaker 3: think of one, and then I gave her one sort
- 23:34Speaker 3: of pretty quick.
- 23:35Speaker 4: That's pretty good. In the break, I remembered one that
- 23:39Speaker 4: I gave an ex-girlfriend, which is when we were doing
- 23:42Speaker 4: dishes after making dinner one night and we were having
- 23:43Speaker 4: like a playful tea towel fight.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:46Speaker 4: And then I got her one too many times, and
- 23:49Speaker 4: she thought the joke was already over at that point.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 23:51Speaker 4: So I flicked her with the tea towel one too
- 23:53Speaker 4: many times, and that gave her the ick. Really? So
- 23:56Speaker 4: you can imagine how that relationship worked out. Dilly Hepburn
- 23:59Speaker 4: in Studio B, a lady has told him that when
- 24:03Speaker 4: you're standing, waiting for the shower water to heat up,
- 24:06Speaker 4: but it's not quite warm enough yet, so you're standing
- 24:08Speaker 4: there nude with your hand under the water.
- 24:10Speaker 3: That's spot on.
- 24:11Speaker 4: That is spot on. Seeing that.
- 24:14Speaker 3: That's one of those things where, you know, you would
- 24:18Speaker 3: never think of that. Like if you ask somebody, you
- 24:20Speaker 3: would never think of that. But then now that I
- 24:22Speaker 3: know that, I'm picturing that, and of course it looks ridiculous.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Same as this one here that's come through about seeing
- 24:29Speaker 3: men in a bath and there's no bubbles. So just
- 24:31Speaker 3: seeing a naked dude in a bath.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Yeah, just everything floating around there. Just your blobby little
- 24:37Speaker 4: rig just under the water.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Another one is shouting down a bus. So running after
- 24:43Speaker 3: a bus and shouting for the bus to stop. Yes.
- 24:46Speaker 3: I've got a real thing about that. I've got a
- 24:47Speaker 3: real thing about that.
- 24:48Speaker 4: Many buses because of that exact thing. I give myself
- 24:51Speaker 4: the ick.
- 24:53Speaker 3: You're better off... running under the bus yeah like it
- 24:57Speaker 3: is just don't run for anything man just it's it's
- 25:01Speaker 3: fine chasing after it's it's a sort of i think
- 25:04Speaker 3: it's a certain level of desperation or something i just
- 25:06Speaker 3: i loathe it when i see it or chasing after
- 25:09Speaker 3: like a five dollar note or something you know running
- 25:11Speaker 3: along and trying to trying to put your foot on
- 25:13Speaker 3: a five dollar note just let it just let it
- 25:15Speaker 3: go man i.
- 25:17Speaker 4: I text my partner uh while the songs are playing
- 25:20Speaker 4: my current partner i said um what ick have i
- 25:22Speaker 4: given you and she said none.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Yeah, right. Dot, dot, dot.
- 25:25Speaker 4: And I said, what was the closest thing?
- 25:26Speaker 3: Oh, great.
- 25:27Speaker 4: Then three texts came through.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Yeah, great.
- 25:29Speaker 4: So I think she's saving my feelings here. One was
- 25:33Speaker 4: when I got steamed at her sister's 30th birthday and
- 25:37Speaker 4: I had just met all the family and I found
- 25:39Speaker 4: a broom and I was using the broom as a microphone.
- 25:47Speaker 4: I was like next level... irresponsibly steamed at the family
- 25:51Speaker 4: function found.
- 25:52Speaker 3: A broom in the corner that.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Was at the after that was very early on we
- 25:58Speaker 4: weren't even officially dating at that point oh my god
- 26:01Speaker 4: uh and another one another one she says which i'm
- 26:03Speaker 4: just finding out now live on the air uh is
- 26:06Speaker 4: tucking my exercise top into my shorts and then host
- 26:14Speaker 4: hoisting the shorts up high and now I do that
- 26:18Speaker 4: for her sake because you know I've got like I'm
- 26:21Speaker 4: a big rig guy I'm a sturdy fella and so
- 26:23Speaker 4: I don't want anything flopping around when I'm running.
- 26:27Speaker 3: What was the song you were singing Stud?
- 26:30Speaker 4: She reckons it was MJ but I think it was
- 26:32Speaker 4: probably more likely Justin Timberlake well that helps us.
- 26:35Speaker 3: With our the name for the show it's.
- 26:38Speaker 8: Old Mogi and the Ick oh cheers man I think
- 26:41Speaker 8: I like Topher Boy better keep your Icks coming on
- 26:44Speaker 8: 3483 every one of those in the draw for a
- 26:48Speaker 8: $ 50 rebuke voucher.
- 26:49Speaker 4: Sadly, we're not, even though we had a couple of goodies.
- 26:52Speaker 4: In the meantime, here's Metallica on the Hauraki Big Show.
- 26:55Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 26:59Speaker 4: It's Kings of Leon on the Hauraki Big Show with
- 27:02Speaker 4: Pugs and Mogi. And that cuter call for Giggler was
- 27:06Speaker 4: coming up pretty soon, I reckon. It's your chance to
- 27:09Speaker 4: win your share of $ 10, 000 we've got to give away
- 27:12Speaker 4: across the month. So think about your next gig ticket
- 27:14Speaker 4: purchase and you can win $ 250 to put towards a
- 27:17Speaker 4: gig of your choice. Cheers to gigs. Cheers to super liquor.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Now we're having ick chat.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Yeah, we are. This comes out the back of my
- 27:26Speaker 3: wife telling me she had the ick when I'm covered
- 27:28Speaker 3: in chippy crumbs and the like all over my hoodie
- 27:31Speaker 3: because I'm an absolute animal. Which is, you know, that's
- 27:34Speaker 3: fair enough. And then, Pugs, you were just saying you
- 27:36Speaker 3: got a text or two from your missus, and one
- 27:38Speaker 3: of them, she was saying, She got there from you
- 27:41Speaker 3: tucking your shirt into your shorts, your gym shirt, into
- 27:45Speaker 3: your exercise shorts. And during the break, you've had a
- 27:47Speaker 3: complete mental breakdown.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Not a mental breakdown. I've just wanted to dive into
- 27:52Speaker 4: the ins and outs of why she would say that
- 27:54Speaker 4: when we work out together. And she sees me do
- 27:57Speaker 4: that every day that I'm not at the gym lifting weights.
- 28:00Speaker 4: I do it when we do Pilates or running or whatever,
- 28:03Speaker 4: which is usually with her.
- 28:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Yeah. So it's going really well.
- 28:07Speaker 3: But you were absolutely spiraling.
- 28:09Speaker 4: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 28:12Speaker 3: We've had some come through on 3483. Shoes on the beach.
- 28:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Wearing shoes, covered shoes on the beach. That's a goodie.
- 28:21Speaker 4: Can I also say just as an aside to that,
- 28:24Speaker 4: the walk that you have to do up dunes, particularly
- 28:27Speaker 4: if you're wearing shoes like in sand where your feet
- 28:28Speaker 4: are sliding down. and it's taking you 10 minutes to
- 28:31Speaker 4: get up a hill.
- 28:32Speaker 3: That's annoying. I don't know if it's ick-worthy just because
- 28:35Speaker 3: everyone's going through it, you know?
- 28:38Speaker 4: I feel like I give myself the ick when I'm
- 28:39Speaker 4: whistling because it tires me out.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Oh, right.
- 28:41Speaker 4: And so I'm like, oh, well, that's embarrassing.
- 28:42Speaker 3: That's just something you don't like.
- 28:44Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, okay, fair enough.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Walking on gravel, bare feet, and they've got their arms
- 28:49Speaker 3: sort of up in the air like that.
- 28:50Speaker 4: Their shoulders are up to their earlobes.
- 28:51Speaker 3: That is a weird one. Having an allergy. That's the
- 28:55Speaker 3: most hardcore one we've had. Anybody that's got an allergy
- 28:59Speaker 3: which is a genetic weakness and so therefore something you
- 29:02Speaker 3: don't want to breed with, pretty harsh call.
- 29:04Speaker 4: That's where I feel like a lot of this comes
- 29:06Speaker 4: from is like natural survival caveman stuff.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Absolutely, completely agree. This one here, dropping something flat or
- 29:12Speaker 3: hard plastic on the timber floor and you can't pick
- 29:15Speaker 3: it up and you just end up pushing it around,
- 29:16Speaker 3: something like a CD. That is a ripper. Just watching
- 29:20Speaker 3: somebody do that. And then the other one is, you
- 29:23Speaker 3: know when... You drop something on the floor and you
- 29:27Speaker 3: don't pick it up first time? Yeah. And you go, miss, miss,
- 29:30Speaker 3: and then you normally get in. That's when I have
- 29:33Speaker 3: a moment to myself just going, oh, man.
- 29:35Speaker 4: You stop and you go, what got me here? What
- 29:38Speaker 4: was it? Keep them coming on 3483. If we get enough,
- 29:41Speaker 4: we'll revisit it. In the meantime, listen out for that
- 29:43Speaker 4: cuticle for Giga Little. It's the Hauraki Big Show.
- 29:46Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 29:49Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. gig a little
- 29:56Speaker 2: on Radio Hauraki. Let's see who wants to hear the
- 29:59Speaker 2: roar of the encore.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Cheers to Super Liquor.
- 30:03Speaker 4: That's right. It's your chance to win your share of
- 30:05Speaker 4: 10 grand. Thanks to our mates at Super Liquor. That's
- 30:07Speaker 4: pretty unreal. $ 250 every single day to go towards your
- 30:11Speaker 4: next ticket purchase for a gig. Bought one last night, Mogi.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Oh, did you?
- 30:15Speaker 4: Yeah. Going to a festival, one festival over New Year's.
- 30:19Speaker 4: Maybe another. Who knows? But the first stop will be
- 30:22Speaker 4: Le Currents.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, beauty.
- 30:24Speaker 4: Freddie's cull cocks it's gonna be a huge one it's
- 30:27Speaker 4: gonna be a bloody huge one mate really really excited
- 30:30Speaker 4: uh but we want to know what gigs you're planning
- 30:33Speaker 4: on going to should we go to the phone lines
- 30:37Speaker 4: uh g'day hodaki who are we speaking to oh hey
- 30:42Speaker 4: hello hello is that julie yeah it is yeah g'day
- 30:46Speaker 4: julie how are you good nice mate what do you
- 30:48Speaker 4: do for a crust julie Oh, accounts.
- 30:52Speaker 3: Oh, backbone. Oh, backbone.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Kiwi fruit industry.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Well, someone's got to do it, Julie, because there's a
- 31:01Speaker 3: whole bunch of people out there that absolutely suck at
- 31:04Speaker 3: doing their accounts. Yeah, absolutely.
- 31:08Speaker 4: Good on you, mate. Now, Julie, which gig would you
- 31:10Speaker 4: go to if you want some cash?
- 31:13Speaker 3: I am going to Lily Allen at the end of
- 31:15Speaker 3: this month. Oh, you beauty. Yeah.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Maybe something over New Year as well. Yeah, there you go.
- 31:23Speaker 3: There's always something going at New Year, so that could
- 31:25Speaker 3: be cool. Yeah, there's a ton of stuff coming up. Yeah,
- 31:27Speaker 3: I've got to spend a small fortune to buy all
- 31:31Speaker 3: the tickets that I want to get. Actually, on that note,
- 31:32Speaker 3: if anyone's got a spare ticket to Queens of the
- 31:34Speaker 3: Stainage lying around, floor ticket, let me know.
- 31:37Speaker 4: We have to one or two?
- 31:38Speaker 3: Just the one. I've got one coming, and I just
- 31:40Speaker 3: need one more.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Yeah, sweet. Well, the good news for you, Julie, is
- 31:43Speaker 4: you've won yourself $ 250 to go towards your next gig.
- 31:47Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 31:48Speaker 4: Thank you so much. Fantastic, mate. Will you go to
- 31:51Speaker 4: a different gig or get another mate along to Lily
- 31:53Speaker 4: Allen or something?
- 31:55Speaker 3: There's two of us going already, so I might go
- 31:58Speaker 3: to another one as well. Yeah, that's the spirit, man.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Get yourself something, eh?
- 32:01Speaker 4: Yeah, fantastic, mate. Alrighty, Julie, I'll check you on hold
- 32:05Speaker 4: and our old mate Dillian Studio B will look after you.
- 32:07Speaker 4: We'll hand you that cash personally. Thanks for the call.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Awesome. Thank you.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Good on you, mate.
- 32:11Speaker 4: Good on you, mate. That's all. Thanks to our mates
- 32:13Speaker 4: at Super Liquor. Cheers to gigs. Cheers to Super Liquor.
- 32:21Speaker 3: I love this song. How good is it?
- 32:22Speaker 4: One of the great road trip songs. This is Incubus.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Are you in on the Hauraki Big Show?
- 32:27Speaker 3: The Hauraki Big Show.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 32:30Speaker 4: It's Tom Petty on the Hauraki Big Show. You're here
- 32:32Speaker 4: with Pugs and Mogi. And we're on a mish at
- 32:36Speaker 4: the moment, Mogi, to get people to bloody get out
- 32:38Speaker 4: and vote.
- 32:39Speaker 3: Absolutely we are. We've got the elections coming up at
- 32:41Speaker 3: the end of the year and getting battered with all
- 32:44Speaker 3: the information around that. But just want to encourage people
- 32:47Speaker 3: to jump on the roll. Enroll to vote and then vote.
- 32:51Speaker 3: I don't care who you're voting for. It's none of
- 32:54Speaker 3: my business. Do whatever you want. But there's a hell
- 32:57Speaker 3: of a lot, particularly of young people, about 170,000 people
- 33:01Speaker 3: aged between 18 and 24 who aren't enrolled at all.
- 33:05Speaker 3: It's a huge voting block. So get out there and
- 33:08Speaker 3: have a crack on enroll.nz or vote.nz. And it doesn't
- 33:12Speaker 3: matter how old you are. If you're not enrolled, sort
- 33:14Speaker 3: it out because... It used to be that you could
- 33:18Speaker 3: enroll on the day, and now you can't. I think
- 33:20Speaker 3: there's only about a week left, actually, for you to
- 33:22Speaker 3: be able to enroll.
- 33:23Speaker 4: I met a woman today who does work at the polls.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:29Speaker 4: And she said the amount of people that she has
- 33:31Speaker 4: seen in her previous experience turning up on the day
- 33:34Speaker 4: is astounding. And I brought this up, and she said, well,
- 33:36Speaker 4: there's going to be a lot of pissed off people
- 33:38Speaker 4: if they don't get onto it now.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Oh, 100%.
- 33:40Speaker 4: Because it's not a political stance to not vote.
- 33:43Speaker 3: No.
- 33:43Speaker 4: Have your say. Go to honoroll.nz or vote.nz. It was
- 33:48Speaker 4: really easy for me. I did it the other day,
- 33:49Speaker 4: and it turns out I was already enrolled in my electorate.
- 33:53Speaker 4: And so that made it fantastically easy. I did it in, like,
- 33:55Speaker 4: less than two minutes. Yep.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Enrollment deadline is 25th of October, and election day is
- 34:01Speaker 3: on the 7th of November. So what we're doing as
- 34:03Speaker 3: well is, you know, it's nice to encourage people, but
- 34:06Speaker 3: we want to threaten people as well. So I recommend
- 34:08Speaker 3: if you are enrolled, start bullying your mates. Start putting
- 34:13Speaker 3: the pressure on them. Get in the group chat. Ostracise
- 34:16Speaker 3: them from your friend group. Don't invite them to your wedding.
- 34:18Speaker 3: All of that sort of stuff until they're enrolled. And
- 34:21Speaker 3: once they're enrolled and they've voted, then you can welcome
- 34:23Speaker 3: them back in with open arms.
- 34:24Speaker 4: Fantastic. Here's the killers in the meantime on Hauraki.
- 34:30Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 34:33Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 34:35Speaker 4: Yeah, welcome back, you massive backbones. You are listening to
- 34:38Speaker 4: The Big Show. Hori J and Keezy on holiday. So
- 34:42Speaker 4: you've got Pugs and Mogi here with you. But regardless,
- 34:44Speaker 4: it's always brought to you by our mates who do beef, chicken,
- 34:47Speaker 4: vegan and vegetarian options. Re-burger, redefining the norm.
- 34:51Speaker 5: Re-burger.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Thinking about a bit of re-burger.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 34:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:59Speaker 4: That's honestly, I think I said it to you yesterday,
- 35:01Speaker 4: the best hangover meal. I mean, it's the best meal,
- 35:04Speaker 4: but particularly the hangovers.
- 35:06Speaker 3: There's nothing wrong with saying the best hangover meal. Yeah,
- 35:08Speaker 3: I am. It's a lot to consider over this coming
- 35:12Speaker 3: hour there, Pugsan, a lot to consider.
- 35:14Speaker 4: Because one thing you need to, I think it's important
- 35:16Speaker 4: that people know, is that you're home alone hungover, aren't you?
- 35:19Speaker 4: I am, that's right. Which is great. Yeah, yeah, it's
- 35:23Speaker 4: the way to be. It's the best way to be hungover.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the best hangover.
- 35:26Speaker 4: In your own cesspool, you've got crumbs all over your shirt.
- 35:28Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 35:28Speaker 4: And you've got Reberger flying in the door.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:31Speaker 4: It's a good way to be. My partner just texted
- 35:33Speaker 4: me and said, are you okay with basic ass... dinner
- 35:37Speaker 4: from and insert the name of that fancy supermarket that
- 35:40Speaker 4: Jase likes to go to.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 35:43Speaker 4: And so every now and then we like to pretend
- 35:44Speaker 4: that we have dog squad money and go to the
- 35:46Speaker 4: supermarket but they quite often put like discounts quick sale.
- 35:49Speaker 7: Oh, right.
- 35:50Speaker 4: Like a lasagna or something.
- 35:52Speaker 7: Sure.
- 35:52Speaker 4: And pretty nicely made. Yeah. Just got to have them
- 35:55Speaker 4: that day.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Too easy. What a treat.
- 35:58Speaker 4: Now, heaps on the way for the last hour of
- 36:00Speaker 4: The Big Show today. We want more name suggestions on
- 36:02Speaker 4: 3483 for the show. It's your last day to get
- 36:06Speaker 4: yourself in the draw for the trade-tested comp. We'll be
- 36:08Speaker 4: drawing a winner for that tomorrow, so some details on that.
- 36:10Speaker 4: And then also, I'm diving into the archives, and we're
- 36:13Speaker 4: bringing back a Big Show classic.
- 36:14Speaker 8: Here we go.
- 36:15Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 36:20Speaker 4: It's REM on the Hauraki Big Show with Mogi and Pugs.
- 36:23Speaker 4: And you'll notice that we're just saying Mogi and Pugs
- 36:26Speaker 4: because we need a name. We've been on the lookout
- 36:28Speaker 4: for a name since Monday. We want to narrow it
- 36:30Speaker 4: down to our favourites and eventually do a poll so
- 36:33Speaker 4: I can make some stings to play for our final
- 36:35Speaker 4: week together, Mogi.
- 36:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it's bloody exciting stuff, mate.
- 36:39Speaker 4: So we're just going to run you through a few
- 36:41Speaker 4: suggestions and we want to hear your feedback on 3403.
- 36:44Speaker 4: Or if you've got a better idea, Send that through
- 36:46Speaker 4: on 3483 as well. All of these that you hear,
- 36:49Speaker 4: and yours if you submit, go on the draw for
- 36:51Speaker 4: a re-burger voucher. There's a couple of TV references, Beavis
- 36:55Speaker 4: and Butthead and Ren and Stimpy. I think that's IP
- 36:58Speaker 4: we probably can't touch. There's a lot of Tofu Boy.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Tofu Boy and the Honka?
- 37:03Speaker 3: Yeah, we had that yesterday, didn't we? Tofu Boy and
- 37:05Speaker 3: the Honka, yeah.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Old Mogi and the Jizz Magnet.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Well, Jizz, Jace's cat Jizz loves you. She actually does.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Maybe that's what it is.
- 37:14Speaker 4: From house sitting the other day, I do tend to
- 37:17Speaker 4: magnetize jizz. I just find jizz all over me at
- 37:20Speaker 4: any given moment. Shambles and rambles, not a fan.
- 37:24Speaker 3: Nah.
- 37:25Speaker 4: Not a fan. Chud and chudder, which I like, but
- 37:32Speaker 4: I don't think it's appropriate for this show. The Big
- 37:36Speaker 4: Dog Show? Like the Big Dog Show.
- 37:38Speaker 3: The Big Dog Show, yeah.
- 37:39Speaker 4: With Corgi and the Pug.
- 37:41Speaker 3: With Corgi and the Pug.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Yeah, so I guess you're Corgi.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Jeez.
- 37:45Speaker 4: I had somebody send me one directly on Instagram. This
- 37:47Speaker 4: is from Josh. And it's possibly my favorite so far.
- 37:51Speaker 4: And that is Snout and the Stout. And that comes
- 37:56Speaker 4: from yesterday, me being stout. Yes. And being called up
- 37:59Speaker 4: for an audition because of my sturdy build.
- 38:01Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not too bad. It's not too bad. Stout
- 38:04Speaker 3: and the Snout.
- 38:05Speaker 4: Or... Stout and the Snout.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Is that what I just said?
- 38:09Speaker 4: No, no, no. The other one was Snout and the Stout.
- 38:12Speaker 3: No, then I just said it back the other way around.
- 38:14Speaker 3: We're getting good at this, man.
- 38:15Speaker 4: Okay, wait, hear me out.
- 38:16Speaker 3: What about... I've got a good idea.
- 38:18Speaker 4: Snout and the Stout. Have you got a favourite at
- 38:21Speaker 4: all so far?
- 38:21Speaker 3: I don't think so. I mean, Tofu Boy makes sense
- 38:25Speaker 3: for me. That sort of.
- 38:28Speaker 3: You know, that's deep, big show, a deep, big show reference,
- 38:32Speaker 3: I think. I'm glad that makes sense. And I don't
- 38:35Speaker 3: know why I'm changing my name, actually, now that I
- 38:38Speaker 3: think about it, because I'm Mogi, so it should be
- 38:40Speaker 3: Mogi and Tofu Boy.
- 38:42Speaker 4: But I'm Pugs, and I've always been Pugs. I don't
- 38:46Speaker 4: want to overstep here.
- 38:47Speaker 3: You haven't always been. You've been James Pugsley when you arrived.
- 38:51Speaker 3: Is that right, or did you ever have the name?
- 38:53Speaker 4: No, I was Pugs before that. Before you were named
- 38:56Speaker 4: James Pugsley. Yes, in the womb. Were you Mogi in
- 39:00Speaker 4: the womb?
- 39:02Speaker 3: It's your story, man. I'm just listening to it.
- 39:05Speaker 4: No, that's fair.
- 39:05Speaker 3: Okay, so you think Tofu Boy. I think Tofu Boy
- 39:09Speaker 3: is good. I mean, look, I'm open to any kind
- 39:10Speaker 3: of offers here, but you asked me which one is
- 39:12Speaker 3: my favorite, and so far that is what has stuck
- 39:15Speaker 3: for me.
- 39:15Speaker 4: Okay, well, if we're submitting finalists, mine's going to be
- 39:19Speaker 4: Snout and the Stout or some variation on that or
- 39:21Speaker 4: Stout and the Snout if you haven't heard that one before.
- 39:23Speaker 4: Keep them coming. 3483, you're on the Hauraki Big Show.
- 39:26Speaker 4: Insta feel free to submit more there.
- 39:28Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 39:32Speaker 4: It's garbage on the Hauraki Big Show with Mogi and
- 39:35Speaker 4: Pugs Hootie Jane Keezy off on holiday there did you
- 39:38Speaker 4: see actually side note did you see Jase having to
- 39:40Speaker 4: push start his car.
- 39:41Speaker 3: I did yeah yeah it was up on the Instagram
- 39:44Speaker 3: there so it was Jase and what looked like at
- 39:47Speaker 3: least three of his daughters yeah um pushing a car
- 39:51Speaker 3: along some country road somewhere in Outback Australia.
- 39:54Speaker 4: Some desert road, eh?
- 39:55Speaker 3: I haven't seen a car being jump-started since 1983. Yeah, absolutely.
- 40:00Speaker 4: Massive push start.
- 40:01Speaker 3: He's going to come back with a whole bunch of
- 40:03Speaker 3: adventures and a whole bunch of fresh content for us.
- 40:05Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to it.
- 40:06Speaker 4: Hoity J on Instagram, if you want to have a
- 40:08Speaker 4: gaze at that. Now, it is the final day... for
- 40:11Speaker 4: you to get in the draw to win yourself $ 2, 500
- 40:14Speaker 4: worth of Trade Tester products. They are going to go
- 40:16Speaker 4: to One Lucky Backbone tomorrow. We've drawn a few winners
- 40:19Speaker 4: every Friday for the last four weeks, and this is
- 40:22Speaker 4: the last one. So if you want to transform your
- 40:25Speaker 4: average deck into one with confidence, Trade Tester has everything
- 40:29Speaker 4: for your backyard. So there's a lot of entries. All
- 40:32Speaker 4: you have to do is go to tradetester.co.nz, have a
- 40:35Speaker 4: look at what they have, and then enter what you
- 40:38Speaker 4: want to win Over at horaki.co.nz. We've got a few
- 40:42Speaker 4: entries here, Mogi. This one's pretty close. This person's actually
- 40:46Speaker 4: got $ 2, 466. So they're going to get $ 34 to play
- 40:51Speaker 4: with there.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Because this is the thing, if you're a dollar over,
- 40:53Speaker 3: you're out. Yeah.
- 40:54Speaker 4: But if you're a dollar under, that's fine. It's up
- 40:55Speaker 4: to you if you don't care. If you want to
- 40:57Speaker 4: waste the prize money, that's fine. This person's after a
- 40:59Speaker 4: sauce stand, a Royal Gourmet gas barbecue and burner. That's $ 679.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:06Speaker 4: A Makita side compound miter saw and then a rotary
- 41:12Speaker 4: tool with some accessories there. That's pretty good. That's pretty good.
- 41:15Speaker 4: This person here has gone for just a greenhouse, just
- 41:18Speaker 4: a whole greenhouse, a 8 foot by 14 foot greenhouse,
- 41:22Speaker 4: which is $ 1, 999. And then to top that up, they've
- 41:26Speaker 4: gone for a Makita 18-volt reciprocating saw, brushless with the
- 41:30Speaker 4: LXT skin.
- 41:31Speaker 3: No brush. No brush. No brush. That's a huge call. Shocker.
- 41:34Speaker 4: So the reciprocating sword and the greenhouse.
- 41:36Speaker 3: They've buggered that up. Gone without the brush.
- 41:39Speaker 4: You think the brush one is better. Oh, okay. You've
- 41:42Speaker 4: absolutely done them. And this person here has gone for
- 41:46Speaker 4: a wood pellet smoker and grill, which is interesting. Barbecue.
- 41:50Speaker 4: It says it has Wi-Fi.
- 41:52Speaker 3: A barbecue with Wi-Fi.
- 41:54Speaker 4: I'm guessing that's to connect to it and maybe adjust
- 41:56Speaker 4: temperature from inside the house or something like that.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:59Speaker 5: Quite possibly.
- 41:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:00Speaker 4: And then another edition of the Steel.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Some things, could I say that some things don't need Wi-Fi? Controversial.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Some things don't need the internet. There are fridges with
- 42:09Speaker 3: the internet now. Do we know what that's all about?
- 42:11Speaker 3: So you can order your food.
- 42:12Speaker 5: Is it?
- 42:13Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I've seen that. I've seen that. Yeah, yeah,
- 42:15Speaker 4: I think it's so you can order food or... No,
- 42:18Speaker 4: I think that's it.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Just buzzies on Instagram, sort of trolling.
- 42:21Speaker 4: Just buzzies on the fridge.
- 42:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, while you're waiting for your egg to boil.
- 42:25Speaker 4: This person also went for a steel gas fire table square.
- 42:29Speaker 4: And then a fridge freezer, side-by-side stainless steel. So have
- 42:32Speaker 4: a gaze at tradetester.co.nz, look at their products, and then
- 42:36Speaker 4: find what you like. Add it to your cart or
- 42:37Speaker 4: your wish list or whatever, and then enter that over
- 42:40Speaker 4: at horaki.co.nz.
- 42:43Speaker 3: I've been on that site, and it's absolutely rammed to
- 42:45Speaker 3: the gills with stuff.
- 42:47Speaker 4: They've got a shitload of stuff.
- 42:48Speaker 3: There's so much stuff on there. It's unreal.
- 42:50Speaker 4: And that's how you elevate your average deck into one
- 42:52Speaker 4: with confidence. Make your deck great with Trade Tester. We'll
- 42:55Speaker 4: draw a winner tomorrow here on the Hauraki Big Show.
- 42:57Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 43:00Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 43:02Speaker 4: That's the Datsuns on the Hauraki Big Show with Mogi
- 43:05Speaker 4: and Pugs. And it's time to take another dive back
- 43:08Speaker 4: into the archives of the Big Show, Mogi. Now, usually
- 43:12Speaker 4: around this time of week, or I think three times
- 43:13Speaker 4: a week, we do meetpaddynips69 at gmail.com, which is a
- 43:17Speaker 4: real email address that you can submit to your advice
- 43:20Speaker 4: questions of any kind and they'll remain anonymous.
- 43:22Speaker 3: Yep, keep them coming.
- 43:23Speaker 4: Now, before we had that streamlined system, we sort of
- 43:26Speaker 4: had a segment for everything and anything and everything, all
- 43:31Speaker 4: kinds of advice, every single subject.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Relationship chat.
- 43:34Speaker 4: Yeah, well, it's funny you say that because this is
- 43:36Speaker 4: October 2023 when relationship advice was still amongst the show.
- 43:43Speaker 1: I love you so much.
- 43:45Speaker 4: We need to talk.
- 43:47Speaker 3: I'm going out with the boys.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Hey, babe, we got anything on this weekend?
- 43:51Speaker 3: Relationship advice with Jason Mike. Yeah.
- 43:57Speaker 7: And as two experienced men of the world, Mogi and I,
- 44:00Speaker 7: we've been through the ring. Yeah, I guess you could
- 44:02Speaker 7: say we've been through the highs and lows of. and
- 44:06Speaker 7: where you feel it's important to give back to the
- 44:07Speaker 7: community for people that may be struggling in their relationship,
- 44:10Speaker 7: as Mogi is at the moment, and, you know, just
- 44:13Speaker 7: give them advice on things they may or may not
- 44:15Speaker 7: be struggling.
- 44:15Speaker 3: With, Mogi. Often people will suffer in silence. Yes, indeed.
- 44:18Speaker 3: And I think there's often value in that. Yeah, generally speaking.
- 44:21Speaker 3: You know, Keith earlier on was talking about some issues
- 44:24Speaker 3: he was having at home with his wife not letting
- 44:26Speaker 3: him buy a hat.
- 44:27Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 44:27Speaker 3: Nobody needs to know about that.
- 44:29Speaker 4: No, no.
- 44:30Speaker 3: But some of this other stuff that actually matters.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I thought it was interesting.
- 44:33Speaker 3: You know, we could really... Really help people out. Yeah, totally.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Well, here's a question for you.
- 44:37Speaker 3: I mean, read the hat thing.
- 44:39Speaker 7: Well, hang on. I, you know, it's like, can you
- 44:41Speaker 7: not waste my time?
- 44:42Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you. Is that your biggest issue? Yeah.
- 44:45Speaker 4: Cool, fellas.
- 44:46Speaker 1: We could probably have this chat off air.
- 44:48Speaker 4: Here's a question.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Keep them coming on 3483. G'day, fellas. How do I
- 44:52Speaker 1: say to my partner that she's spending too much on
- 44:54Speaker 1: the wedding without sounding cheap like Hoity J?
- 44:56Speaker 3: Cheers. Ooh, tough one. That is tough, isn't it? And
- 45:01Speaker 3: just for the record, she's not spending too much. You're
- 45:03Speaker 3: both wasting your money. Yeah, you're right.
- 45:06Speaker 7: Hey, listen, I did have a, and this is quite
- 45:07Speaker 7: a serious tip, what we did for our wedding for
- 45:10Speaker 7: the booze, we said to people, instead of buying us presents,
- 45:14Speaker 7: just contribute towards the booze for the night. And that
- 45:17Speaker 7: saved us a massive amount of money. Also, get family
- 45:22Speaker 7: members involved. Like my wife, her cousin was a great chef,
- 45:25Speaker 7: so we got her doing all the cooking, didn't have
- 45:27Speaker 7: to pay her. So we just have to buy the ingredients.
- 45:30Speaker 3: Yeah. Stuff like that, you know what I mean?
- 45:32Speaker 1: Or just don't get married. What if this person's cousin
- 45:34Speaker 1: doesn't have a chef in the family, you know?
- 45:36Speaker 3: I guess that one of the options is to just
- 45:38Speaker 3: stand her up on her wedding day.
- 45:39Speaker 7: Yeah, you could.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Because I can tell you what, they hate that. Yeah,
- 45:42Speaker 3: they do. They hate it. But if you're not getting
- 45:45Speaker 3: through on the messaging around how much it's going to cost, well,
- 45:47Speaker 3: then you can spend the day by yourself.
- 45:50Speaker 7: I tell you what else you can do, Mogi. What
- 45:52Speaker 7: else you can do is you can just say, hey.
- 45:54Speaker 7: Why don't you and I just elope?
- 45:56Speaker 3: Yes.
- 45:56Speaker 7: Go to a registry office, get married, just you and me,
- 46:00Speaker 7: and then take off. Really, what you mean is I
- 46:02Speaker 7: don't want to spend any money on this waste of time.
- 46:04Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I don't know as much as you guys,
- 46:05Speaker 1: but I'd say if you just have an honest conversation
- 46:09Speaker 1: about it, and if you've got worries.
- 46:10Speaker 3: I'd voice those. This is coming from a guy who
- 46:12Speaker 3: can't even buy a hat in his own relationship. So
- 46:15Speaker 3: next question, Keezy.
- 46:16Speaker 7: Yeah, thanks, Keezy.
- 46:16Speaker 3: That's actually a really valid point.
- 46:19Speaker 4: G'day, fellas.
- 46:20Speaker 1: My partner keeps complaining that I come home from hunting
- 46:23Speaker 1: with no meat. What should I do?
- 46:26Speaker 3: Cheers. Classic. So he's having an affair. This is a
- 46:28Speaker 3: classic one, this one. So what you've got to do, mate,
- 46:32Speaker 3: is I'd change it up. I've spoken about this before,
- 46:35Speaker 3: but you change it to duck hunting. Then you can
- 46:38Speaker 3: go and do whatever it is you're doing, then just
- 46:40Speaker 3: pop down to the local lake, throw a bit of
- 46:42Speaker 3: bread out the window. The ducks come right over to
- 46:44Speaker 3: the car, grab them around the old neck, chuck them
- 46:49Speaker 3: in the back seat or the boot, you're home and hosed.
- 46:52Speaker 3: Well done.
- 46:53Speaker 7: You know, I talk a lot about the fact that
- 46:56Speaker 7: I go fishing.
- 46:59Speaker 3: What's kissing? What's kissing? I do a lot of fishing.
- 47:02Speaker 3: I'll be honest with you.
- 47:02Speaker 7: I'll tell everyone right now. I'll be honest with you.
- 47:04Speaker 7: I never caught a fish in my life. Just pop
- 47:06Speaker 7: into Kelly Tartan's and they've got a big tank of
- 47:07Speaker 7: kakawai there.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Get those bastards out.
- 47:11Speaker 7: Take them home.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Look at this, darling. Look at these.
- 47:13Speaker 4: Look at these bastards.
- 47:14Speaker 1: You don't get in trouble for just breaking into Kelly Tartan's?
- 47:17Speaker 3: No, I pay to get in.
- 47:18Speaker 1: But you can just reach in and grab a fish
- 47:20Speaker 1: out and no one hits you?
- 47:21Speaker 5: No, no.
- 47:21Speaker 7: No one notices because there's just a big tank of them.
- 47:23Speaker 3: Right, okay. Yeah, yeah. The trick is to start a
- 47:26Speaker 3: fire in the bathroom first.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Right, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, hey, keep those texts coming
- 47:31Speaker 1: through on 3483 if you want any more of this
- 47:33Speaker 1: fantastic advice.
- 47:35Speaker 4: It's only right that we'd have a segment bringing back
- 47:37Speaker 4: relationship advice and it's about fish. Is it? Well, it
- 47:43Speaker 4: just ended up being all about Jase stealing fish.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, exactly right. Yeah, it's completely derailed.
- 47:48Speaker 4: So now if you need relationship advice, the best way
- 47:51Speaker 4: to do that is to go to meetpaddynips69 at gmail.com.
- 47:55Speaker 4: If you read it out, if it gets read out
- 47:57Speaker 4: on the show, sorry, We'll probably get you a voucher
- 48:00Speaker 4: at some point. And if you want to search back
- 48:02Speaker 4: through those archives like I have been, search Hauraki Big
- 48:05Speaker 4: Show wherever you get your podcasts from every single show
- 48:07Speaker 4: we've ever done on there.
- 48:10Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 48:23Speaker 4: See what I mean?
- 48:28Speaker 3: There you go.
- 48:30Speaker 4: It's really nice. It's like an earworm. Mogi, another one
- 48:35Speaker 4: in the bag, man.
- 48:35Speaker 3: Another one in the bag, mate. Nearly halfway through.
- 48:37Speaker 4: We're going to have to get a name for this bastard.
- 48:39Speaker 3: Nearly halfway through, isn't it? Friday tomorrow, get a bit
- 48:41Speaker 3: of throbber on. This evening, I'm going to go home.
- 48:43Speaker 3: I think I'm going to... It's one of those hangovers
- 48:46Speaker 3: where I think I'm going to need to eat some
- 48:48Speaker 3: bad food. Do you know? I know. Yeah. I don't
- 48:51Speaker 3: know what I'm going to... Oh, actually, I've got a
- 48:53Speaker 3: bit of re-burger up my sleeve there. I don't know.
- 48:57Speaker 3: That might be too much, though. Too much of a
- 49:00Speaker 3: good thing. Yeah. See how we go. And then I've
- 49:04Speaker 3: just got to get horizontal. But it's bloody beautiful out there.
- 49:06Speaker 3: It's still gorgeous.
- 49:07Speaker 4: It is lovely out there.
- 49:09Speaker 3: So that could be bad news, but I can't do
- 49:11Speaker 3: two of these in a row. I cannot.
- 49:12Speaker 4: Someone did say earlier the best way to handle it
- 49:15Speaker 4: i always get back on.
- 49:16Speaker 3: It yeah unfortunately it's true but it's compounding isn't it
- 49:19Speaker 3: the other best thing for it is to just go
- 49:22Speaker 3: to bed you know and wake up tomorrow brand new
- 49:25Speaker 3: what are you doing uh.
- 49:26Speaker 4: I'm knackered because of the pilates class i went to
- 49:30Speaker 4: at 7 a.m oh yeah followed by doing that callback
- 49:34Speaker 4: for that audition oh yes which we can get into
- 49:36Speaker 4: another day depending on how it goes, and then coming
- 49:40Speaker 4: in here and doing this. So I'm knackered. I'm going
- 49:43Speaker 4: to go home, and I'm also heading away tomorrow after
- 49:45Speaker 4: the show, so I'd like a quiet night at home.
- 49:47Speaker 3: Yeah, good on you.
- 49:48Speaker 4: I don't even know if I can handle another East
- 49:50Speaker 4: of Eden at the moment. That's how drained I am
- 49:52Speaker 4: from there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So maybe just something light
- 49:55Speaker 4: on the telly. And then just chill with my partner
- 49:58Speaker 4: and enjoy the afternoon sun. Smacks our apartment just right.
- 50:02Speaker 4: floats in there.
- 50:03Speaker 3: You've got to go home and get into a screaming
- 50:06Speaker 3: match don't you about you tucking your shirt into your
- 50:08Speaker 3: shorts let us know how that goes tomorrow write that
- 50:10Speaker 3: down for content right now it's not.
- 50:12Speaker 4: The end of it It's not the end of it. Nah.
- 50:17Speaker 4: I'd like to think the better part of me will
- 50:18Speaker 4: forget by the time I get home. Okay, so let's
- 50:21Speaker 4: just end it. But then I'll remember when I go
- 50:22Speaker 4: to work out tomorrow.
- 50:23Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, of course you will.
- 50:24Speaker 4: And then I'll be under the tux. But anyway, that
- 50:26Speaker 4: is all from us. Tune in to the podcast. They
- 50:29Speaker 4: drop at 7.30 wherever you get yours. Search High Ducky
- 50:31Speaker 4: Big Show. Today's one in fashion with the rest of
- 50:33Speaker 4: the week. Today is a disclaimer podcast from this week
- 50:37Speaker 4: in 2025. So last year we progressed further and further.
- 50:39Speaker 4: Don't know what I'll do tomorrow. Maybe like a mixed
- 50:41Speaker 4: bag or something like that. But we'll figure it out.
- 50:43Speaker 4: In the meantime, have yourself a beautiful night. This has
- 50:45Speaker 4: been the Hauraki Big Show with Pugs and Mogi. See
- 50:47Speaker 4: you later.
