- 0:45Pickens and A 2027 sixth round pick has been traded to the
- 0:51Cowboys for a third round pick next year and a fifth round pick
- 0:55in 2027. Jerry Jones said after not
- 0:59drafting a wide receiver, he was very active in the wide receiver
- 1:03trade market. Since then, reports say that the
- 1:06Steelers didn't want 2 receivers that had very similar skills.
- 1:11After trading for DK Metcalf and paying him 30 million per year
- 1:18after CD Lamb, the next highest receiver was Jalen Tolbert, who
- 1:23had 610 receiving yards. Pickens has had 800 yards or
- 1:28more in all three of his NFL seasons after DK Metcalf.
- 1:34The Steelers also have Roman Wilson, Calvin Austin and Robert
- 1:39Woods as their other wide receiver death.
- 1:42Mike Tomlin has criticized Pickens for a lack of effort at
- 1:47several points at the end of the season, particular with
- 1:51blocking. Pickens had 59 catches for 900
- 1:56yards and three touchdowns last season.
- 1:59Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's pretty serious for the Cowboys.
- 2:03And if you're a Cowgirls fan, well, you should be happy.
- 2:07I do believe that Anning George Pickens gives you another weapon
- 2:10which they've been craving for for the last four years, years.
- 2:15And CD Lamb has not had another weapon really since you know him
- 2:20as Amari Cooper, who was traded over there to the Raiders.
- 2:24It has not worked for them. Actually, wasn't the Raiders, it
- 2:28was the Browns, Cleveland Browns.
- 2:31I'm sorry. Right now, if you look at the
- 2:33position that the Cowboys are in, they needed another weapon.
- 2:36They needed a weapon that's going to absolutely take away
- 2:40double teams in the open field on CD, Lamb.
- 2:43And it made a lot of sense being that George Pickens might have
- 2:46been the best receiver available, but the biggest mouth
- 2:49in the NFL. Now, if it works, it's it's a
- 2:53home run for for the Cowboys, absolute home run.
- 2:57But as we all know, Pittsburgh, a former Pittsburgh wide
- 3:00receivers that have left my Tomlin.
- 3:03It never does as we've seen it many, many times over, including
- 3:08a guy named Le'veon Bell that was screwing as he's a
- 3:12disgusting pig, his own cousin at the age of 13 years old.
- 3:17There is no control over these Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 3:22There's no no nonsense that is never taken from Mike Tomlin and
- 3:26his coaching staff. This guy should have never
- 3:29finished the season on the Pittsburgh Steelers for all the
- 3:32things that you've heard on and off the the field.
- 3:35And honestly, there's no control over these players over in
- 3:38Pittsburgh. And, and it's the perfect team,
- 3:40ladies and gentlemen, for him to go to.
- 3:42Why? Because this is an organization
- 3:45that took Greg freaking Hardy. Yes, we all know what Greg Hardy
- 3:50did. How despicable and disgusting he
- 3:53is. Well, they went on and they dug
- 3:55their hands deep and and obviously Jerry Jones dug deep
- 3:59into his pockets or his pants to whip it out.
- 4:02And he's probably hanging out with Deshaun Watson because this
- 4:06guy is an absolute debacle. I'm interested to see how this
- 4:10is going to work. I know CD Lamb had his own
- 4:13thoughts to obviously Dak Prescott.
- 4:15Now you're bringing this guy in. This is never going to work.
- 4:19And if it works, it's a slam dunk.
- 4:21It's a slam dunk and Jack wanted that other weapon.
- 4:23But how is this going to work when, you know, CD Lamb is the
- 4:27guy and this guy has always thought of himself as the guy.
- 4:32And if he's not the guy, boy, oh boy, he's going to stamp his
- 4:36feet and complain and cry the river.
- 4:38It's never going to work with the press over there, with the
- 4:41Cowgirls. And I believe that one way or
- 4:44another, this is going to cause friction in that locker room
- 4:47when it comes to Dak Prescott and the offensive line and
- 4:50everybody on the offensive side, the ball.
- 4:52This is a bad move for the Cowboys.
- 4:55CJ Wilson. That's why I asked CJ Wilson.
- 4:57I wanted to know what he thought when it came because he is a
- 5:00professional athlete. He was a professional football
- 5:03player and he understands what goes in to control in a locker
- 5:08room. This man has no control.
- 5:10Yeah, I also, I also looked at it with the Steelers
- 5:12perspective. I think they need to get 2 very
- 5:15similar skill sets out of there. It was the biggest thing I said
- 5:17at the time. Like you're have a bigger
- 5:18bodied, inconsistent route running and then inconsistent
- 5:21stat production guy. He's had three good like
- 5:24receiving seasons, 800 yards I think at 11150 and then 900
- 5:27something last year. But his production is all in the
- 5:31span of three or four games. And DK Metcalf's been a little
- 5:33bit better than that, but he's still been a lot of the same
- 5:35version his career. Now for the Cowboy, I think it's
- 5:38the best thing they could have done because obviously a lot of
- 5:39these veteran receivers we've seen fall off.
- 5:41So if you try to bring back Amari Cooper who had a injury
- 5:43Riddle year last year, or somebody like Keenan Allen that
- 5:46really struggle with the bears, those are your only other
- 5:48options you left. So I don't mind them swinging
- 5:50for the fences. It was just a third round pick.
- 5:51I think the Steelers made made good out of it.
- 5:53Consider the trade market. So I think from that
- 5:55perspective, it's fine with both teams.
- 5:56The Cowboys have to take a chance somewhere because they
- 5:58Jerry Jones in the all in off seasons continues to do nothing
- 6:02and doesn't draft a wide receiver either.
- 6:03It just makes no sense. So they have to try something at
- 6:05that point. So I, I think it's a good trade,
- 6:07but I, I don't think it's going to push the Cowboys over the
- 6:09edge where they're a playoff team automatically because they
- 6:11still have a lot of other problems.
- 6:13No, I think you're right too and you bring up something too and I
- 6:18wanted to ask you guys this too. I was going to ask CJ and kind
- 6:20of forgot but do you think with Pickens attitude and kind of
- 6:25wanting to be the guy and throwing tantrums, do you think
- 6:27he lasts the whole year? He'll last the whole year, but I
- 6:31think this is the one thing I'll give the Cowboys credit for,
- 6:33Jerry. Jerry Jones and the ownership
- 6:35are making him earn the contract.
- 6:37They're not going to pay him right away unless he shows.
- 6:39There is no way it's going to work over there.
- 6:40CD Lamb is too big of a personality.
- 6:43We all know CD Lamb is not going to sit still.
- 6:46He didn't sit still with the Dak Prescott situation.
- 6:49I love Dak, I root on Dak and if there's anybody that deserves an
- 6:53opportunity to have another weapon on the other side, that's
- 6:56great. I just don't trust the Cowboys.
- 6:58You have a new coach there. You don't even have Mike
- 7:00McCarthy there. You have a rookie coach that's
- 7:02never done it before. We know Schottenheimer as I know
- 7:06Schottenheimer because at one point he was Rex Ryan's
- 7:09offensive coordinator, so I know all about Brian Schottenheimer.
- 7:13It doesn't work when you bring in a rookie coach who has no
- 7:17control or has never controlled a dumb, crazy personality like
- 7:22George Pickens. It is I I don't get it.
- 7:25I don't get it. You got it.
- 7:26You bring in a rookie coach and you're going to bring this mess
- 7:28in. I would have taken anybody else
- 7:31but this guy. This is not smart for the
- 7:34Cowboys. But hey, if it works, he looks
- 7:37like a genius. Jerry Jones looks like a
- 7:38complete genius. He was offered to the entire
- 7:42league. There's reports coming out on
- 7:44The Athletic today about nobody wants him, that he's just like
- 7:50what you expect if Tomlin's giving up on someone for a third
- 7:54round pick and a pick swap in like 6th or 7th round or
- 7:57whatever it's going to be. I didn't see the final report on
- 8:00it. It's probably like close to a
- 8:02lost cause. But he was so productive.
- 8:06So you wonder what happened and a lot, I think he type became
- 8:11like a cancer in the locker room, I don't think.
- 8:14And like it was great to have like CJ Wilson on.
- 8:17He was talking about shudor about this.
- 8:19But it doesn't have to just be the quarterback.
- 8:21If the other guys don't want to block for you, the other guys
- 8:24don't trust you. It's a problem on the team.
- 8:28And Pickens is so immature. He's basically forced this to
- 8:32happen. Is what they're what all the
- 8:33articles, There's like three of them, a couple of different
- 8:36authors from the Athletic writing about it.
- 8:38Just killing this guy, just killing him.
- 8:40And it makes me very happy as a Giants fan that the Cowboys
- 8:44added like the absolute combustion.
- 8:47Oh, I. Like that?
- 8:48Blame that busting right here, bursting in your pants.
- 8:51Is he like do you think he's an AB2 point O?
- 8:54I don't know if he's like that. I think AB, like, I mean, AB is
- 8:59really funny on social media. He has a pretty ridiculous sense
- 9:03of humor. I think he's just a crazy
- 9:05bastard. AB this guy is kind of a douche.
- 9:08But they said he's a hit trip. They said that he has those
- 9:12tendencies, that he needs help, that he might have bipolar
- 9:15disorder. They said that there's things
- 9:17about him. Earlier today I was talking to
- 9:19you about that. I think if it's either because
- 9:22we see him do like the Macho Man elbow drop in the middle of
- 9:25plays, getting 15 yard penalties, doing dumb dumb stuff
- 9:28like just. You almost said it.
- 9:29Go ahead, say man. But you know, like, it's, it's
- 9:32just that you can't do things like that.
- 9:34It's not winning football. You have to realize that your
- 9:37actions affect that other people.
- 9:39And in the NFL, it affects other people's ability to get paid.
- 9:42And that's what really bothers people.
- 9:44When you get to this level, it's not just college, not just
- 9:46having fun anymore. It's, you know, your NIL money
- 9:49is whatever it is no matter what you do, right?
- 9:53This is like, you get to the Super Bowl, there's more money,
- 9:56right? You get to, you get to these
- 9:58different, like all pro teams, all these other teams.
- 10:00Well, what if you don't make it? Because, yeah, the running back
- 10:04doesn't get to get to that, that extra $1,000,000 incentive
- 10:07because George Pickens won't block a freaking fly out there
- 10:09down field. So he doesn't get the extra 70
- 10:12yards he needed to get $1,000,000.
- 10:14That's a real thing. I was surprised.
- 10:17I was. I'm sorry to cut you off,
- 10:18Speedy. I was surprised that the Eagles
- 10:20were not injured. He's a bulldog.
- 10:22He knows a bunch of those guys over there with the Eagles.
- 10:25It would have made a lot of sense.
- 10:26A.J. Brown maybe controls him in the
- 10:29locker room because A.J. Brown is a leader.
- 10:31I thought that would have made a lot of sense.
- 10:33I don't think they just, they, they didn't want to deal with
- 10:35it. I don't think the, I'm sure the
- 10:37Eagles were interested, but they were like, I don't want to deal
- 10:39with this crap. I don't want to deal with this.
- 10:41Person A.J. Brown.
- 10:42I'll have to have him read his book.
- 10:44Like football wise, it should make sense.
- 10:46Like, let's face. It he's a good blame.
- 10:49Plays in the slot as much as he plays outside of the slot, he
- 10:51can do everything on the football field so you can move
- 10:54him around you can put Pickens on the other side if you're you
- 10:57can put them on the same side of the field and really give teams
- 11:00trouble and you know the double team's probably going to go to
- 11:03Lam no matter what he's a much better player than Pickens in my
- 11:06opinion. But if you put him in the slot,
- 11:09you know, teams will try to inside out.
- 11:10They'll do different strategies. Pickens is, you know, but can he
- 11:15keep his head on straight? And this is his last real chance
- 11:19to really be a star in this league because he could be a
- 11:23star in the star, you know, like on the star literally in Dallas.
- 11:29But I don't. Everyone's betting against it.
- 11:31Everyone's coming out killing this guy, Everyone.
- 11:34I hope. I hope I didn't.
- 11:36Eagles take them, they they should know best.
- 11:37They have all the Bulldogs. Wouldn't they give him a
- 11:40recommendation if he was only costing the third round pick?
- 11:42And they probably were. Like, well, they already traded
- 11:44one last. Year they won a Super Bowl, they
- 11:46won a Super Bowl, and I don't think they want to deal with any
- 11:49craziness that's going to be because we all know what they
- 11:52did to the other crazy guy. Reddick went to The Jets.
- 11:55How did that work out? They didn't work out very good.
- 11:58They win a Super Bowl, Reddick leaves his face and they win.
- 12:01They win a Super Bowl. So.
- 12:03Big Dom getting into it over there on the sideline, you know,
- 12:08picking up Siriani, dragging him.
- 12:10Away by the way, Niffin posted up former NFL NFL wide receiver
- 12:14Antonio Brown has officially applied for a NASCAR NASCAR Cap
- 12:18competition license. Per source, NASCAR is currently
- 12:20reviewing his application. You know what?
- 12:22NASCAR is going to tell him to go take a hike.
- 12:24There's no way they're letting that crazy bastard on a Raceway.
- 12:28That guy is nuts. He'll kill somebody before he
- 12:31even gets on that Raceway and actually goes around the bend
- 12:35one time. It is absolutely ridiculous.
- 12:37They. Already have dudes in NASCAR
- 12:39that are like that. No, they're not going to bring
- 12:41that. There's no way NASCAR is going
- 12:43to sell that. And I know people would love to
- 12:45see this guy ram himself into a wall and kill himself because
- 12:48he's done a lot of stupid things.
- 12:50But I, I just think he's already had head trauma.
- 12:53We don't need to see any more head trauma from this guy on
- 12:56NASCAR, NASCAR, whatever they call it, Raceway.
- 13:00He's just, it's just horrendous. It's a terrible move.
- 13:03If NASCAR allows this, they're, they're a dumb organization.
- 13:07This guy needs he needs help and, and, and for anybody thinks
- 13:11that this guy is going to be able to drive 280 mph around the
- 13:15bend and not kill somebody while I was doing it is stupid.
- 13:19It's a dumb, dumb source, whoever is saying this.
- 13:22And if it is true, and if he's that dumb enough to do that, do
- 13:26these guys it? Takes only 180, not 2. 80,
- 13:29whatever, it doesn't even matter.
- 13:31It could be two 8180, it could be 80 mph.
- 13:34This guy, I don't trust him in a car.
- 13:36I don't trust him with machinery going at fast.
- 13:39I don't trust him on a football field anymore.
- 13:41Do you think I trust him with something 3000 tons of you know,
- 13:45whatever that whatever you call that.
- 13:47I mean, honestly, it's stupid. I if NASCAR, NASCAR needs to get
- 13:52this this sorted out and tell him to go take a hike, go go
- 13:55play rugby or something. I don't know, do something, go
- 13:58play ping pong or something like that and try to make the United
- 14:02States Olympic team. That would have been more
- 14:03smarter than here. Here.
- 14:05I got one beach dodge ball. That's what I would do if I was
- 14:09him. Create a league for the one and
- 14:11only idiot of the NFL. Who does Stupid idiotic.
- 14:14Things Java you mentioned the the gap with Antonio Brown and
- 14:17George Pickett. This is how I would do it for ex
- 14:19Steelers receiver. So Antonio Brown at the top of
- 14:21the list both skill wise and antics.
- 14:23George Pickens in the middle and then Chase Claypool at the.
- 14:25Bottom I just reached him. I would just reach if I was
- 14:28Antonio Brown, I would reach out to him.
- 14:31You know, a guy like George Pickens sit and hang out and
- 14:34enjoy stupidity because that's what they are.
- 14:37Just two stupid guys that don't know what the hell they're doing
- 14:40and both need mentally, you know, mental help and they're
- 14:43mentally ill. So anyways, I, I want to get off
- 14:45this, this story is stupid. I, I, I honestly think that the
- 14:49George Picken story is ridiculous.
- 14:52I, I know Nathan was so proud of this.
- 14:54I know he was posting it up at 7:00 in the morning, which Goody
- 14:59and fish were like, what are you doing, Nathan?
- 15:01No, Jabba's it. It's like 6:00 in the morning.
- 15:05No, it was 645. 6:45 in the morning, he's posting George.
- 15:09I was awake but I was like if. It's pre ordering his playoff
- 15:12tickets. Nathan, Nathan, we love you, but
- 15:15we don't want to hear from you at 7:45 about George Pickens.
- 15:19Goody was so funny. When Goody answered it, it was
- 15:22so funny. He's like Nathan I I could give
- 15:25a crap about George Pickens. People are.
- 15:27Trying to Nathan, I think it's a good trade, but they're not
- 15:29going to be a playoff team. We have we have goody on for
- 15:34humor and baseball. That's that's what.
- 15:37Man, it's just it's absolutely craziness.
- 15:39Anyways, let's get into some baseball, as we call this inside
- 15:45baseball. Now let's go deep, deep inside
- 15:49what I am excited. This is inside baseball.
- 15:55All right, the good. Guys, we are here for another
- 15:57segment of Inside Baseball. We're going to have a few
- 16:00stories going around the league. We're going to do a couple a
- 16:03show of a clip as well of a really interesting play of the
- 16:08week. The guys know it ahead of time,
- 16:10You guys might know it. It's not exactly a great play,
- 16:13but we'll start off with the story of the day, and that is
- 16:17the Pittsburgh Pirates firing manager Derek Shelton after
- 16:21losing A7 straight game to fall to 12 and 26 with a -57 run
- 16:26differential. Shelton went three O 6 and 440
- 16:30in five seasons in in Pittsburgh.
- 16:33Guys, it just seems like we've started this segment like a the
- 16:38beginning of the season and we've had four incredibly
- 16:41negative pirate stories already. And it's not like I care about
- 16:45the Pirates one way or the other.
- 16:46They're just doing it to themselves between the bucko
- 16:49bricks being taken out the the stuff with the.
- 16:53Ricardo Clemente in right field and the fact that the last big
- 16:57contract was Francisco Liriano for what, 3 for 39 million?
- 17:02At least the fan who fell didn't die.
- 17:03Apparently he's walking. Oh, they're, they're really
- 17:06trying. Let's just say that.
- 17:09So what do you think about this manager?
- 17:11You know he was there for a while.
- 17:13Obviously it's not just his fault going on in Pittsburgh.
- 17:16What do you guys got to say about it?
- 17:17Yeah, no, I I was a huge Derek Shelton fan and it's crazy
- 17:22because like when I heard too and then, you know, you got guys
- 17:26coming out in the industry who you know why we said Ken
- 17:28Rosenthal on and Ken Rosenthal went on foul territory and
- 17:31literally said he goes, this isn't Derek Shelton, this is the
- 17:35pirates owner. Because look at what they've
- 17:37done and Goody goody made a great point on their highest
- 17:40country. Obviously if why haven't they
- 17:43paid schemes yet? But you expect things to win you
- 17:4620 games every year with what what your feature in to score
- 17:49runs. And he said it's literally like,
- 17:52and this is from Ken Rosenthal on foul territory on X.
- 17:55And he was like, it's like trying to make apple juice when
- 17:59you're giving me lemons. Because look at their lineup.
- 18:03Like, really, they don't spend money.
- 18:06It's a great place to play great clubhouses.
- 18:11And it just, it boggles my mind when you have one of the best
- 18:14young pitchers in the game too, that you wouldn't want to put
- 18:16something behind him. But as we've all seen in in any
- 18:22sport, whether it's basketball, football, hockey, whatever it
- 18:25is, somebody has to take the fall.
- 18:28And nine times out of 10, it's usually the manager.
- 18:31We saw AGM and a manager this time because they both didn't
- 18:34like each other in a different sport.
- 18:37But there's somebody that has to take the fall.
- 18:39And it, it sucks that it's him, but he'll land on his feet.
- 18:43He's too. He's too damn good of a coach to
- 18:45not and it just sucks that somebody has has to wear it when
- 18:49they're what, 2038 games in? Yeah, it's just part of it.
- 18:55Like we said, they don't spend a lot of money.
- 18:57They're not. They haven't spent a lot of
- 18:59money. You have exciting young players
- 19:01that are coming through and they're just not.
- 19:05They're just missing the mark. That's that's really all it is.
- 19:09And as Jabba alluded to you, somebody has to take the fall,
- 19:13certainly won't be the GM. He's not going to fire himself.
- 19:15So my next best thing is we'll fire the manager and see how it
- 19:19goes. Listen, when you play it, when I
- 19:21played in Mexico, our coaching staff was on notice every week.
- 19:26All right, If we lost, if we if there wouldn't be if it was like
- 19:313 games in a row, we were the coaching staff was getting put
- 19:33on notice and players are getting sent back.
- 19:35So, you know, you have a little bit of leeway here.
- 19:38But for three years, you you, you said his record was what,
- 19:42250 and 4 something that. Is hold on, I'll bring it back.
- 19:45Up 300. Five years and three O 6 and
- 19:504:40. Yeah, and that's not like that's
- 19:53not entirely his fault. Like said, you know, that's a,
- 19:56that's an organizational thing. You know, the Pirates
- 20:01traditionally, I think have a pretty decent minor league.
- 20:04Organization, I know they're making some changes there now,
- 20:08maybe those changes just haven't had enough time to play out, but
- 20:11they are producing some good talent, some good young talent.
- 20:14So maybe in the next couple of years they should be better.
- 20:17It sucks that Shelton took the, you know, took the brunt of it,
- 20:19but at the same time, it's baseball.
- 20:21It is what it is. And and as Jabba said, like he
- 20:24will find another home. That's what managers end up
- 20:26doing and maybe become a special assistant or whatever else.
- 20:30But he will be in this game. I know the players really like
- 20:33him. So, and that's, that's what
- 20:35really sucks is the relationships that he had are
- 20:37are they'll still be there, but they won't be day-to-day.
- 20:41So Ben Cherington runs it right, Speedy.
- 20:44Yeah, I think he's still there, unfortunately for them.
- 20:48He's living off of a lot of former success over in Boston,
- 20:54and he's been there, what, 6 years now?
- 20:58What are we? Do we really think this guy was
- 21:01the reason for Boston's success after watching this?
- 21:03What do you think, Speedy? Well, no, they've had their
- 21:06track record of other GMs go over to other smaller market
- 21:09organizations. That would not be the case.
- 21:11And again, that's what I think what good he's getting at is
- 21:13like he's a it's a product of just them being so cheap.
- 21:17And Derek Shelton, while I get I wasn't crazy about the hire at
- 21:20the time, like you were saying, Java, I think a lot of the
- 21:22players liked him in Minnesota when he was with the Twins over
- 21:24there. So again, it's just one of those
- 21:26tough situations for a team that just the top 10, not payroll,
- 21:31top ten money with the owner and they just don't want to do
- 21:33anything with it. With a flashy player in ski,
- 21:35he's a flashy player in O'Neill Cruz.
- 21:37They need a manager that's a personality.
- 21:38Maybe they get our friend Michael McHenry to join.
- 21:41Errol, you think? Should hire me.
- 21:45Worst ownership group they may be going right now.
- 21:48They're the worst. They're just as bad as any team
- 21:51we've seen in a long time. Cincinnati was there, they're
- 21:54getting better. We're watching Cincinnati.
- 21:56They did the they made the right choice with Terry Francona.
- 21:59They're bringing in a guy that actually knows what he's doing.
- 22:01He's a great manager. So that's where, and I'm not
- 22:04blaming Pittsburgh, obviously with the manager over there, he
- 22:08it just didn't work out over there.
- 22:09I know the players liked him, but they need to find a guy
- 22:12that's more of a drill Sergeant than a guy that's patent babies
- 22:17on the ass and saying don't worry boys, we'll get him next
- 22:20time. I think they need to get a guy
- 22:22that's going to go in there and tell them, listen, you got to go
- 22:24out there and play. You want to play in the big
- 22:25leagues, you want to make some money, you want to be the best.
- 22:27You got to go out there and be and go and play like you're one
- 22:30of the best. So I think that's the problem
- 22:32right now. Pittsburgh has talent like you
- 22:34were saying, Goody, like you were saying Jabba.
- 22:37They're just these talented players aren't developing and
- 22:40then they wind up trading them away and it just, it doesn't
- 22:43make any sense. This has been the the Pittsburgh
- 22:45Pirates Forte for the last, I don't know, 2 decades.
- 22:49So it hasn't been good really since Bobby Bonilla and Barry
- 22:53Bonds. I mean, that's how they're just
- 22:55not good. They're just not a good and
- 22:57presently run organization. So my.
- 23:00Opinion is probably still getting paid more than a lot of
- 23:03those players. That's.
- 23:06Bobby Bonilla's best contract of all time, right?
- 23:08So, yeah, I don't really know what you do to an ownership
- 23:13group that just doesn't want to spend money and they're just
- 23:16going to sell players. There seems to be no penalty or
- 23:19way to penalize them. And I feel like something is
- 23:24going to have to give it some point.
- 23:26So let's get this back up here. Looks like I'm more frozen here
- 23:29we are. All right, so let's talk about
- 23:31the Yankee game last night a little bit because it was really
- 23:33fascinating. Yankees won four to three and 10
- 23:36innings. There's Padres, Padres obviously
- 23:38with a real hot start this year as well.
- 23:40Max Freed versus Dylan Cease great pitching duel.
- 23:44It was 1 nothing going into the 7th inning.
- 23:48Cease had a no no going and he gives up a a home run to
- 23:52Bellinger ties the game up and batter 2 later he has to come
- 23:57out of the game he gets the forearm cramp.
- 23:59Now, this was more of a question that I wanted to ask our two
- 24:02pitchers over here. You give up a home run in that
- 24:05situation. What causes that cramp?
- 24:07You just start like pensing up and throwing harder than at that
- 24:10point get a little angry. Or could it just be like you're
- 24:14so like exhausted from trying to do the no hitter that you're
- 24:19like almost dehydrated and you can cramp up?
- 24:21What do you, what do you think that was on this one guys?
- 24:24It's I mean, you can never really tell when that happens.
- 24:27I mean, I mean, because I started and relieved, but I was
- 24:31never the best water drinker when I was pitching.
- 24:36I know some guys that would drink a bottle and inning.
- 24:39I don't know how they did it, but that was just their routine.
- 24:42I just was never really, really good at it.
- 24:43I mean, I always would have enough water where I wouldn't be
- 24:48dehydrated. But you, I mean, it's just weird
- 24:53to I don't think necessarily he was gripping the ball too tight.
- 24:56Like I think it was just he was probably dehydrated and he just
- 25:02caught a cramp. But also no cramps can lead to
- 25:05other things too. So you don't really know.
- 25:08And it was, it was just a, it was an interesting game watching
- 25:11it go back and forth and, you know, just going into the 6th
- 25:15and then it's no hitter and Max just gave up the home run early
- 25:19in the game. And you know, he just battled
- 25:20his tail off and, and it, it, it was just a, it was a great game
- 25:25overall for the Yankees in momentum.
- 25:27Devin Williams obviously got 2 quick first outs, then he gets
- 25:32the bases loaded first and third hits Jackson Merrill to load the
- 25:36bases and then gets out of it with a strikeout with Bogart.
- 25:39So, and then they just go on a tear from from after that.
- 25:43But I don't think more than a cramp it it unless they said
- 25:49that there's going to get an MRI, but I would assume he just
- 25:52tightened up and they're like all right.
- 25:54And it's still so early in the season, you don't want to push
- 25:56it. Yeah, What do you think, Betty?
- 26:01I don't know, man. I, I know Cease is a dog.
- 26:04I know he'd go out there and pitch through a lot of things.
- 26:06So I don't think he would pull himself out of the game for a
- 26:10little cramp. I know he, he came out and said
- 26:12he would push through it but just you know, with the being
- 26:16cautious, you know the, the training staff pulled him out.
- 26:22It is ironic that it happened after a home run after he was
- 26:25going for a no hitter. I'm not sure exactly what his
- 26:27pitch count was or how high you know where where he was at, but
- 26:30couldn't be too high. I'm assuming you know these.
- 26:37I personally don't think I've ever cramped in my forearm while
- 26:40pitching. I haven't.
- 26:42Yeah, that was my bigger question.
- 26:43Because when I cramp, it's my calf.
- 26:45If it's real bad, it could be like quad like area.
- 26:49You can cramp up sometimes like foot cramps up like my heel
- 26:52like. I don't, I don't, I don't know,
- 26:55I don't know, maybe, maybe my calf, if I've ever cramped while
- 27:01pitching, it might have been a calf muscle.
- 27:03And you just walk around the mound or you know, whatever and
- 27:07you kind of work itself out as far as the forearm, the only
- 27:10thing if it cramped up, it was like I the one time it cramped
- 27:14up, I had time to jump like right then that just didn't
- 27:16cramp up. Like it, it, it, it, it blew.
- 27:20So it's like, you know, I don't know, right?
- 27:23We know we'll find out. We'll find out when when we get
- 27:26more details and everything that come out.
- 27:28You know, teams like to hide these things for a little while.
- 27:30So you know, who knows? Nobody knows.
- 27:34But ceased in the medical staff what's actually really going on.
- 27:37And when that comes out, we'll we'll find out.
- 27:39I'm sure we'll discuss it. But until then, he pitched a
- 27:41hell of a baseball game, gave up a hit epic bat flip by Grissom.
- 27:46And it is what it is he was like. 6 and 2/3 with 89 pitches.
- 27:52Yeah, I mean, that's he was just, he was cruising.
- 27:55He was cruising. It was like. 59 strikes.
- 27:58Speedy, yeah. You're the one I wanted to ask
- 28:01about Grissom specifically. This guy was a platoon guy.
- 28:05Forever was, never always had pop, obviously great defensive
- 28:09player. What do you think's led to this
- 28:11kind of a turn around? I mean, you've seen the
- 28:13statistics, they're off the charts for this guy.
- 28:16Yeah, I was supposed to what he was supposed to be in Milwaukee.
- 28:18He was a top prospect there and he was supposed to be kind of
- 28:21that transition from their veteran offensive players that
- 28:23they had there and never really amounted and obviously had that
- 28:26great post season series against the Mets when he was with the
- 28:29Padres. But yeah, this is definitely,
- 28:32you always see this with some random outfielders, especially
- 28:35veteran outfielders. There's usually a couple that
- 28:37have their flashes like this and it, I mean, I don't know how
- 28:40sustainable it'll be, but he had the upside for a reason.
- 28:43Maybe he's just finding it. It'd be great if he can be this
- 28:46good and like just be one of our guys going forwards, That'd be
- 28:49amazing. He's got more.
- 28:50He's got more homers this year into May than he did all of last
- 28:53year. Errol Last.
- 28:57No. No, not this.
- 28:59That's on Monday. No, we've talked about Max
- 29:02Freed. He's got to be the front runner
- 29:04for AL Sai Young though. He's special.
- 29:07He's been special. It would be interesting to see
- 29:10what Garrett Cole and him as a dynamic tandem, which the
- 29:14Yankees are looking for probably, hopefully next year at
- 29:17the end of the season is seeing how this is going to work.
- 29:20But Max Freed has been the best pitcher in baseball really since
- 29:24the beginning of the season, 9 starts.
- 29:27He, the Yankees have won every single start since he's been on
- 29:30the mound. And that's what you want your
- 29:31ace to do. His ERA is almost one.
- 29:34His WHIP is under one. I mean, the guy has been the
- 29:37best pitcher in baseball. If you were to tell me right now
- 29:40going into the season that the Yankees would have by far the
- 29:43best player in baseball and the best pitcher in baseball, well,
- 29:47that means the Yankees would be a pretty good team.
- 29:49And they are there. They're just not playing as the
- 29:52best team in the American League.
- 29:54But I think they'll figure it out.
- 29:55I think Max Reed is special. He's winning the Cy Young.
- 29:58If he stays 100% healthy all season long, he's on his way.
- 30:02But it it's it's incredible. He people thought, hey, you go
- 30:06to New York, could you handle Yankee Stadium?
- 30:08Could you handle New York? A lot of pitchers couldn't.
- 30:11As we all know, the Yankees, the Yankees have done so many things
- 30:14over the years that bring guys in and it never worked.
- 30:16And one guy, the guy that sticks out to me more than anything, is
- 30:19Carl Pavano. Remember that guy?
- 30:22Remember the money the Yankees gave him?
- 30:24It didn't work out. He got hit by a sausage truck.
- 30:27OK. It's ridiculous, the story about
- 30:30Carl Pavano. The Yankees right now have an
- 30:34opportunity if they put some guys around this guy.
- 30:37And by the way, the Soto move was the best move the Yankees
- 30:40did not do in the offseason. They brought in Max Freed and
- 30:43Goldilocks. I call him Mr. Goldilocks
- 30:45himself. You know, Goldschmidt, who right
- 30:48now has the second best batting average right now in baseball.
- 30:51Where are you, Jeff? Where are you?
- 30:53I can't see you, Jeff. Remember when you said
- 30:55Goldilocks is done? Well, he's right behind Aaron
- 30:59Judge, right behind the great one as the second best batting
- 31:04average in baseball. Eat it, Mr. Jeffrey.
- 31:07Sink to the river, sink to the ocean.
- 31:09That's all I got to say about that.
- 31:13I I agree with that sentiment about Jeff.
- 31:15Now moving back on to the next thing we're going to get into
- 31:18some injuries, guys. First one, a couple of groin
- 31:22injuries. Hunter green Jabba we were
- 31:23talking about. It went down with what could be,
- 31:27you know, you never know what the groin, but I think it was
- 31:29more upper and it might be a little while for him.
- 31:33Obviously he, we've mentioned him a couple weeks ago, has had
- 31:35one of the fastest starts for any pitcher in baseball, the
- 31:40Oscar Hernandez. That's a blow for the Dodgers.
- 31:43Obviously, they're still crushing it, but he's a big part
- 31:46of what they're doing. I think he was second in RBI is
- 31:49behind Judge at one point. Other injuries.
- 31:51Noel V Marte for Cincinnati. He's somebody that's really
- 31:56coming on. Errol, I don't know if you know
- 31:57too much about him, but he was a hot prospect, got hurt.
- 32:01I think he might that Was he suspended?
- 32:02Is he the one that was? Suspended.
- 32:04For the steroids or something anyway, he was crushing
- 32:07beginning of this year. He's got an oblique.
- 32:09He's going to be gone for a little while.
- 32:11And then those are the ones I didn't really want to talk too
- 32:14much about. The ones I really want to talk
- 32:16about is starting off with Chris Bryant, who has lumbar
- 32:22degenerative disc disease. He's batting 150 something with
- 32:28absolutely no ability to play anymore.
- 32:30He's got, I don't know, speedy. You'll have to tell me the
- 32:32contract details, but it. Is it was 6 years I think 175 or
- 32:36something at the time. Nobody is stealing money more
- 32:41than Chris Bryant, but on power to him if his back's really that
- 32:43messed up. I mean, have you ever even heard
- 32:45of a guy in baseball having something like this?
- 32:48Is it similar to David? Wright, I was going to say when
- 32:50David, when David Wright had spinal stenosis, that was the
- 32:52first time I heard of. That, yeah, Yeah.
- 32:55And then Prince was neck. But this is the first time I've
- 32:58heard it Speedy. It was 7 for 182. 07/1/82 OK.
- 33:02Who cares? He plays for the Rockies.
- 33:04Well, I mean, he picks or 31 Rockies.
- 33:08Yeah, they are. They are not good.
- 33:12Yeah, I mean, it sucks because I mean, it's one of those things
- 33:18where like, if you have bad luck, you have bad luck, right?
- 33:22But this is something that you really can't control.
- 33:25And since since he left San Francisco and, you know, signed
- 33:29the the the deal and you just look at he hasn't played more
- 33:33than 80 games. And it I mean, he played like
- 33:3951. Chicago was the last time he
- 33:41played almost 100 and that was in 21.
- 33:46Then when he got traded. So he played 140 between two
- 33:49leagues, but he hasn't played more than 80 games.
- 33:52And it I can only imagine the frustration because everything
- 33:56that I know about him and everybody that I've talked to
- 33:59and, and goody you probably in the same like nobody has a bad
- 34:02thing to say about the guy. And it just sucks when it's one
- 34:05of these things you can't control if it's like, you know,
- 34:08just a string of like, oh, my knee, my ankle, whatever.
- 34:11But this is something where it's degenerative.
- 34:13Like, and I look at it from this point of view, it's like, man,
- 34:17if you want to pick up your kids when you're 40 years old and you
- 34:20and I actually play like, is it worth trying to grind and do all
- 34:25that stuff? Or like, Hey, then I'd like I
- 34:28said, I don't know him personally, so I don't know if
- 34:30he has kids or whatever, but that's where my brain would go.
- 34:33Like, I want to play catch with my son.
- 34:35I want to, you know, when he gets grandkids, I want to be
- 34:38able to, you know, have him over and, and play with them.
- 34:40So from that point of view, I just, I, it sucks because it's,
- 34:45it's nothing that he can control.
- 34:48It's not like he hasn't put the work in because you've seen him
- 34:50in AAA trying to rehab and then it flares up and he can't get
- 34:54back. So at this point, with the way
- 34:56it's gone the last five 4-5 years, you started looking at
- 35:00your, your own personal life and, and what the limitations
- 35:04that you're going to have with this and, and how you can, you
- 35:07know, minimize it by obviously not putting your body through
- 35:09the wringer for, you know, nine months a year, 10 months a year
- 35:14and hopefully have a long lasting life.
- 35:17But you know, you're still in pain.
- 35:19I mean, I'm nine surgeries in. So, you know, there's a days
- 35:22that aren't comfortable, but with that I just I think you got
- 35:26to look out for yourself at at some point.
- 35:29What do you think, Goody? I got another injury here that's
- 35:32interesting. Jordan Alvarez, hand
- 35:35inflammation now for me. That could be 10,000 different
- 35:38things. Right.
- 35:39So they're talking about the muscle like I think it's, I
- 35:44think it's like the the muscle on the outside of the hand right
- 35:47here that's bothering him. I don't think it's over here by
- 35:49the thumb. I think they were saying more
- 35:51about like the grip. I didn't know if I wanted to
- 35:56save this one for for for you goody or if I was going to give
- 35:59it to Errol and have him go with Speedy on this one.
- 36:03But I'll tell you, I'm more concerned as like a guy in
- 36:06fantasy. So I have a rule with fantasy
- 36:08baseball and I've done this fantasy baseball forever.
- 36:11If the guys got a bad wrist, you've got to get rid of him
- 36:14immediately. Like the wrist injury, like it's
- 36:16going to sack his power. It's going to sack his bad speed
- 36:20and until he heals. And it might take a while.
- 36:22Like those could be a while. Like whenever a guy gets hit
- 36:26like on the hand and breaks like a little bone in his wrist or
- 36:29something like that, they're they're the ham 81's, the worst
- 36:32one, right? And they say, oh, you don't
- 36:34really need that one. Well, you, you, it makes you,
- 36:37you don't have the same power. I've never seen a guy with those
- 36:40types of injuries have, especially a power hitter like
- 36:43Alvarez. It's it could be a really bad
- 36:46injury for Houston Astros. Well, I think why they even did
- 36:50it anyways, because he was only hitting 210 with three homers
- 36:54and it's like. I think they're saying that's
- 36:56why. Right.
- 36:57Yeah. You know, it's like, I mean, I
- 37:01was, I was actually hitting some golf balls today and I was just
- 37:04like, Oh yeah, if you don't swing so hard and you just, you
- 37:07know, you don't grip it so hard and you just let your body go,
- 37:10It's that's what you want. And sometimes I know you could
- 37:12do that. We're going to talk about
- 37:13someone who we think grips it too hard.
- 37:15Arrow isn't, if you get back to your line of questioning, has a
- 37:18couple of elbow weaknesses, but I don't know what to.
- 37:23Don't worry everybody, it's not me.
- 37:26I don't know what to make of it. I really, I worry about that
- 37:30injury. Speedy if you have.
- 37:33What else does Houston have if they lose Alvarez?
- 37:36Yeah, their offensive depth was already a question mark for me
- 37:39even last year when they still had Tucker in Bregman.
- 37:42Now losing those two as well in the offseason, you're banking on
- 37:46a young catcher that in Diaz, it's a good prospect, but he's
- 37:49struggled. Altuve's played fine, but he
- 37:52could only do go so far with one hit or Pena's, all right.
- 37:55So. But again, it's not a lot of
- 37:56good depth and the way Seattle's playing and they could pitch and
- 38:00go, your Texas Rangers good either in a little bit of a
- 38:02slump, but I think they're still better than the Astros right
- 38:05now. All right.
- 38:07And the last one, Errol Giancarlo Stanton, they're
- 38:12saying that when he is able to come off with a 60 day, this a
- 38:17or is it the ILDI don't know if it's 60.
- 38:19Days 60 day. DL they should have kept the DL
- 38:23for the 60 day one, but the 60 day one, May 27th, they think
- 38:28they'll be ready soon, as soon as that time's up.
- 38:32You ready for some more Giancarlo in the Bronx?
- 38:36Well, right now you're not getting anything from Bellinger,
- 38:39so you're going to need something in that lineup.
- 38:42And and really it's been Ben Rice and Aaron Judge and nobody
- 38:46else. They've been up and down in that
- 38:48lineup. And this is and Goldman.
- 38:49I'm sorry, I forgot about Goldman.
- 38:51So it's been three guys. Grissom, yeah, he's he's got the
- 38:54whole bronze. He's yeah, he's hitting too, but
- 38:57he's not your everyday outfielder.
- 38:59So you're getting that off the bench.
- 39:01So I, I you wanted to see Dominguez this year.
- 39:04You wanted to see some of these players and, and what, And
- 39:07Austin Wells, I expect him to get better.
- 39:09And he hit that Grand Slam the other day, but really he hasn't
- 39:12been hitting as much as you would expect this year.
- 39:15And he was so good in spring training.
- 39:17John Carlos Stanton adds that depth that they need in the
- 39:19lineup. He's got the power, he's got the
- 39:21protection. We all know what he could do in
- 39:23the playoffs. I just want to make sure that
- 39:25John Carlos Stanton stays healthy for the playoffs.
- 39:27I, I would have sat him the whole season and waited maybe
- 39:31like 30-40 games before the season's end.
- 39:33Let him get warmed up and get ready for the playoffs because
- 39:36that's when John Carlos Stanton shines the most in the playoffs.
- 39:40I don't want to put him in harm's way.
- 39:41This guy breaks a nail or something.
- 39:43I mean, this guy is the weakest piece of, you know, piece of
- 39:48paper. I mean, all you got to do is
- 39:50pull something and you might tear something off his body.
- 39:53I I mean, he's built like an ox. I mean, he's got muscles from
- 39:56top to bottom. And, you know, every woman wants
- 39:59to kiss his ass. But to me, the guy just falls
- 40:03apart. He doesn't stay healthy.
- 40:05So I'm happy. Hopefully he stays healthy and
- 40:08he helps the Yankees line up. I'm just worried that he's going
- 40:12to come back and then he's going to go out a significant amount
- 40:14of time and. We won't see him in the
- 40:17playoffs. I I think he's only going to
- 40:20hit. Though so it's it's unless,
- 40:23unless he does something weird. I mean, I guess he's got bad
- 40:26elbows or whatever. It's got bad everything.
- 40:28Elbow sausage, You know all about that.
- 40:31And I'm just called Pavano. Chime in on Dominguez first of
- 40:34all when you give a dude a nickname before he gets the big
- 40:36leagues and especially in New York and to try and live up to
- 40:40those expectations like they thought he was the next coming
- 40:43of. I don't know what it is, but he
- 40:45just, he, he doesn't do it for me in any way, shape or form.
- 40:48He can run a little bit, but he just, there's, there's nothing
- 40:52that I've seen over the time that they've given him chances.
- 40:56He has over 100 at bats. It's, it's not like he's got
- 40:59like 40 at bats like it's. He's getting you mentioned this
- 41:02Java because that's where I was going with this.
- 41:05Look, look what's going on. You said it Errol Rice.
- 41:08Rice is plays first base, he plays catcher and he plays DH.
- 41:14That's Goldsmith, That's Wells, that's Giancarlo.
- 41:18There's an issue here, right? Where is the opening where, I
- 41:22mean, third base is a sieve right now.
- 41:24And you can theoretically put some guys out in the outfield.
- 41:27Grisham, if he can play, you can put him out there.
- 41:30And then you don't need to worry about Dominguez.
- 41:33So he automatically becomes one of the biggest trade ships in
- 41:37baseball for this season. And I think that if they are
- 41:42going to make a move that's massive, if they're trying to
- 41:45add a big name, whether they add it to the staff or they add it,
- 41:49add a position of need like third base or they don't trust
- 41:52Volti and they want to add a big time shortstop, Dominguez is
- 41:56going. To be nobody wants Dominguez.
- 41:59What has he done? He's horrible, dude.
- 42:02He's done. He's done.
- 42:03He doesn't work in dude. He is another bust for the New
- 42:06York Yankees. He's a bust.
- 42:08The guy's not good. He's not good.
- 42:11Had that hot first year he's. Clint Frazier, one O 1 man.
- 42:15He is horrible. Come on dude.
- 42:18This guy, this guy's afraid of the outfields.
- 42:21He can't even catch anymore. This guy was A5 tool player when
- 42:25he came to the league. They called him the alien or
- 42:27whatever. The Martian, whatever they call
- 42:30him, Martian aliens. Friggin thing.
- 42:32And he's a switch hitter. The guy can't hit a lick on both
- 42:35sides of the, you know, the plate.
- 42:36They would still get a lot for. Him, he's got two home runs, two
- 42:40home runs in Yankee Stadium. Yeah, but he's still very young,
- 42:45dude. He still have time to adjust to
- 42:47the league, you know, He's still very young.
- 42:50He's still very projectable, you know, as a player.
- 42:53So he's got pop. He can run, he can throw.
- 42:56You need to work on his defense. But yeah, I would agree with
- 43:00you, Fish. He's definitely going to be a
- 43:02trade ship if the Yankees do want to make that big splash.
- 43:07So he'll, he'll play, he'll play every year at the same age, like
- 43:10he'll play this whole year at 22.
- 43:13So yeah. He's young.
- 43:14He's 22 years old, dude. At 20 years old, what were you
- 43:17doing? He's a boss, I.
- 43:18Was two years. I was two years in the big
- 43:19leagues, dog. He's a boss.
- 43:21Well, not you. Oh, sorry.
- 43:25He's a boss. Remember I said that five years
- 43:27from now, boys, remember I said that when we're on top of the
- 43:30world? I said Dominguez is a boss.
- 43:32He's a boss. He's not good.
- 43:34I don't care how old he is, he's never going to mount anything
- 43:38one way or another. The Yankees a boss.
- 43:41All right, here's a boss. He's.
- 43:43He'll be lucky. He'll be lucky to have, if he
- 43:47goes to the right place, having two seasons with 25 or more home
- 43:50runs. That's it.
- 43:52I don't think he's any good. I think he's playing in the
- 43:55smallest stadium in all the baseball where it's a home run
- 43:59park and you can't hit home runs.
- 44:01You got two home runs in your starting outfielder.
- 44:03It's embarrassing. It's embarrassing.
- 44:06I don't want to hear it. I think he stinks.
- 44:08Let's think, he states the. Heats up.
- 44:09I hope he does because I think that they could get a lot for
- 44:12him. So guys, the play or blooper of
- 44:16the week comes from the second baseman, rookie of the Chicago.
- 44:20We got a surprise too, for Let's parlay.
- 44:23Here's the first time in a while for Mr. Mountain.
- 44:26Take a look at this. So it's 9th inning and we got a
- 44:30runner on 1st, but the Royals are down 1.
- 44:33Oh my God. Right off the noggin.
- 44:36Then they throw it away. They don't advance.
- 44:39But of course this led to a 9th inning comeback finished by
- 44:44Bobby Witt. Junior 43V.
- 44:47The White Sox, I think, have ten wins this season.
- 44:50Better than Colorado, but still pretty.
- 44:53Terrible. That's not as bad as Jose
- 44:54Canseco, let me tell you. That's definitely.
- 44:57Right. So, so let's get it.
- 44:58Let's get into that, Jose Canseco.
- 45:00The white socks are white socks and dude.
- 45:03Accurate. It's rough that it's, it's ugly
- 45:06over there. Errol, though I've shown the
- 45:07Jose can see the clip a million times.
- 45:10It's it's the most embarrassing thing ever.
- 45:13I remember the Luis Castillo pop up.
- 45:16Hey, Rod, Hit. That, but the Yankees and the
- 45:18and the Mets. I'll never forget that.
- 45:20Mainly because of how my mother, who's a Mets fan, shrieked when
- 45:23it happened, when we were watching it together.
- 45:25Like could have broken glass. How bad, how angry she was with
- 45:29Luis Castillo on that one. But I can't remember anything
- 45:33like this in the infield when I played Little League, though.
- 45:35This is the one time I'll share you a Little League story.
- 45:38I was terrible, but I had I was playing first guy next to me.
- 45:41It shouldn't be surprising. Guy playing second next to me.
- 45:44He had a really old glove, but he's playing.
- 45:45He's got glasses on, pop up right to him, pose up for it,
- 45:50goes through his glove, breaks his glasses, like destroyed the
- 45:55webbing, just holding it and then bounced into the outfield.
- 45:59He was hurt like a little. He was hurt a little bit.
- 46:02I've never seen anything like that in the pros, though.
- 46:04Boys, have you seen anything like that?
- 46:06Not in the infield. I've seen I've.
- 46:08Seen No. I don't think I've ever seen one
- 46:11off the Dome right there live. Right off here.
- 46:14Yeah, No, like glove. No, I mean, obviously Conseco is
- 46:19the only other. I mean, but I can't think.
- 46:23And it sucks that it's the White Sox because you're just like, oh
- 46:26gosh, really? He looks owned.
- 46:28Look at him, he looks. So, well, he has to be.
- 46:31He feels like to play with the White Sox.
- 46:33Sad. He just made.
- 46:36That's there forever. He just made.
- 46:38ESPN's Blooper of the Year. Well, how sad could he be?
- 46:41Nobody's going to remember him. They're going to remember him
- 46:43for that. At least he's remembered for
- 46:45something. I mean that was embarrassed for
- 46:47hitting dingers. Though, dude.
- 46:49That's a dinger. All right, Dinger.
- 46:51Off his head. That's that's fun man, that
- 46:53looks fun. It's, you know, it's just part
- 46:55of the game. High, high skies, late at night.
- 46:57Maybe lost it, I don't know. Maybe they were excited they
- 47:00were going to win a game for the first time in a couple weeks and
- 47:02then you just you don't just misplayed.
- 47:04It sucks. Party of the game though, got to
- 47:07play, you got to get 27 outs and then they fortunately they got
- 47:1026 all. Right, let's finish this we got
- 47:13so I decided I'm going to give you guys power rankings every
- 47:16once in a while, so I'll get this is the fish power rankings.
- 47:19I didn't look at anything. I thought I was actually talking
- 47:21to Errol and Speedy while I made it.
- 47:23Made one change, Speedy since I talked to you, but Dodgers and
- 47:26Padres at the top. I don't think many people are
- 47:28going to argue with that. The way they're playing pretty
- 47:31impressive. Dodgers have suffered some
- 47:33injuries, so I don't know if they'll be able to maintain that
- 47:35for for the time being. And this isn't at the end of the
- 47:38year projections. This is currently as of this day
- 47:41in baseball this season, right? The Tigers are leading, I
- 47:44believe, in run differential in all of baseball right now.
- 47:47The Giants have had that really hot start.
- 47:50Obviously a lot of competition as you can see already two teams
- 47:54ahead of them in the same division, the Royals.
- 47:57Goody, you brought this up to me earlier today. 14 of their last
- 48:0016. 15 of their last seven, so now. 15 of 17 the Royals have
- 48:04won. Pretty outrageous.
- 48:07They're the hottest team in baseball.
- 48:09That's after losing 9 of 11. Yeah.
- 48:12So their record isn't as good as it as it could be.
- 48:16And then just around out the top ten, I got the Mets at six and
- 48:19the Yankees at 7. The Yankees, I was impressed
- 48:21with them being able to beat the Padres in that series, who I
- 48:24think are outstanding. I couldn't believe how good the
- 48:26Padres are. If Francesco Tatis is going to
- 48:28play like this, he may be the NLMVP over Otani.
- 48:32He's incredible this year. By the way, I just want to say
- 48:36something. I'm sorry to cut you off.
- 48:37I had Bobby Witt Junior winning the MVP.
- 48:40If, if Aaron Judge wasn't having the year that he's having right
- 48:43now, Bobby Witt Junior right now is the lead.
- 48:47You know, as far as the lead guy for for the American League,
- 48:51he's been unbelievable in the last 16 games.
- 48:55He's been unbelievable. One duty can't strike him out
- 48:59the guys. In this last year too, like he
- 49:01last year, he was second the judge and the MVP.
- 49:04It's going to happen again. Like that he is the second best
- 49:06player in the AL, there's really no question about it.
- 49:09Or at least position player at this point.
- 49:12It's unbelievable, man. What's the finish about?
- 49:14Phillies really strong again. We got a couple of really good
- 49:17divisions. I think the Braves will bounce
- 49:19back too. So I think the NL East and the
- 49:21NL W just outstanding divisions this year.
- 49:25Then I got the Cubs a ninth and the Guardians, goody, I know
- 49:29their records really good. You see they have a -14 run
- 49:33differential at that. They're like 9 games over or
- 49:36eight games over 500. They're playing really good
- 49:39baseball right now. They're just finding ways to win
- 49:41and that's what they do. They find ways to win.
- 49:43It's not sexy, is that? Sustainable, though, you know
- 49:46what I mean? Like the teams in their
- 49:48division, the Tigers, they're the.
- 49:50If one team could do it, it's probably them because they just
- 49:52find a way to win that. It's like I said, it's not sexy,
- 49:56but they find a way to win. They get job done.
- 49:59And it's just beneficial. It's like that every year.
- 50:03They're on paper. You're just like, and then you
- 50:06look up and it's September and you're there pushing for the
- 50:08playoffs. You know it's.
- 50:09Just like. It is what it is.
- 50:13All right boys, so anyone have any comments?
- 50:15You think my list is terrible? No.
- 50:18You guys send them in the message and comment and reach
- 50:22out to us on socials. But for that guys, that has been
- 50:25inside baseball. There it is, ladies and
- 50:28gentlemen. It's fantastic.
- 50:29It's beautiful. Speaking of beautiful faces we
- 50:32haven't seen in a long time. I mean, a guy that doesn't need
- 50:35any applause. We know him as a Mountaineer and
- 50:39he's back. Ladies and gentlemen, for the
- 50:41one and only, let's parlay, parlay time for Lex Parlay.
- 50:55The man, the myth, the legend. He's back, ladies and gentlemen.
- 51:00We haven't seen him for over a year.
- 51:02He's been busy. You know, his his brother having
- 51:05a baby. I mean, he's an uncle now.
- 51:08His other brother, you know, doing his thing with hockey.
- 51:11I mean, everybody's all over the place and this guy's doing his
- 51:14thing. How the hell are you my friends?
- 51:18Not too bad, not too bad. How are you guys?
- 51:21You know what's so funny? When I hear your voice, you, you
- 51:23sound just like your brother. And it's pretty funny.
- 51:26Every time I listen, I I think of your brother's voice.
- 51:28I think, wow, you guys sound so alike.
- 51:31But you know, it's crazy. I mean, how how are you doing?
- 51:34How's the girl? How's Boston?
- 51:36What's going on with you? Not.
- 51:41Too bad we got married. Congratulations,
- 51:43Congratulations. So married life, so been crazy,
- 51:47but get crazy. Yeah, no, nothing, nothing else.
- 51:54You know that that kind of remarkable, but just.
- 51:57Who's your best man? Who's your best man?
- 52:00Who was my best man? Well Brian and Kyle were Co best
- 52:03man. I I would have loved to hear
- 52:05what Brian had to say at your. A good speech.
- 52:08His speech. But yeah, Kyle did.
- 52:10A good speech, you did a good job.
- 52:12But it's it's, you know, Brian is very soft with words.
- 52:16So I think he probably I think he probably would give you a
- 52:19really good speech. I don't know much about Kyle,
- 52:21but I know a lot about your brother.
- 52:23So we're happy to have you back, man.
- 52:25I'm I'm glad that you finally snuck right back.
- 52:28And Wes has been in and out too. He's doing some big things too.
- 52:31But we love one of these days we got to get you both on again
- 52:35because it is fantastic. So you know the rules, everybody
- 52:38knows the rules he's going to give us since it's only him,
- 52:41he's going to give us his top 4 picks of the week as we do this
- 52:46every single week. We call this Let's Barley a
- 52:48speedy set and we have the one and only Derek Mountain.
- 52:54Go ahead, Derek. All right, so I'm just going to
- 52:57go fourth straight. I don't have any.
- 52:59Wow. No, no ping pong in tonight.
- 53:01OK, so first one, I like the Nuggets tomorrow +5 at home.
- 53:08They complete completely punted last night's game.
- 53:11They lost by 40. They're down by 30 in the first
- 53:14half, but you could tell from the jump, you know, they they
- 53:17emptied the tank game one. They got the win late from the
- 53:21Thunder choking. But Game 2 last night, they went
- 53:24in going knowing that they were going to lose that game, Similar
- 53:28to what I think the Warriors are doing right now.
- 53:31You know, they're they're a little more competitive tonight,
- 53:33but really they're just gearing up to get healthy before in
- 53:37front of the home crowd, they got five points.
- 53:39Jokic looks the same. Russell Westbrook looks really,
- 53:42really good. Jamal Murray in the playoffs is
- 53:46a playoff riser. Aaron Gordon's been really good.
- 53:48I think it's enough to keep it a close game.
- 53:51So we got five points there. Tomorrow, the Rockies play
- 53:56against the Padres. I like the Padres over their
- 53:59team total. It's at Coors Field, so we get
- 54:02the altitude and they're going against Antonio Sends.
- 54:07Sends who has given up 4 earned runs or more and every start but
- 54:12two this year? Jackson Merrill's back in the
- 54:15line up. I think San Diego will not have
- 54:18an issue as the Rockies gave up over 20 runs today in
- 54:20doubleheader. Who else do I have?
- 54:26I only have one more pick if that's OK.
- 54:29Go ahead, babe. Go ahead.
- 54:30All right, I don't want to force anything.
- 54:33So as Speedy Rocks is Knicks hat, he pains me to say I'm
- 54:39going to go with the Celtics at the lowest value that we'll
- 54:44probably ever get them plus 170 on fanatics.
- 54:49I believe I got that today to win the Eastern Conference.
- 54:53Backs are against the wall next game Saturday afternoon.
- 54:58So they they got plenty of rest here.
- 55:00I I do worry about Porzingis health and I think that's a big
- 55:03deal for them to win the finals. But to win the east, I mean, I
- 55:07think New York's going to be a tougher task than whoever they
- 55:10have to play the next round, which to me, it looks like
- 55:12Indiana. I know they're up to low, but if
- 55:15Garland and and Mobley aren't healthy, I don't think
- 55:18Cleveland's going to be able to win that series.
- 55:20And if they do, they're, they're really hanging on by a thread
- 55:22there. So it's really good by the
- 55:24Knicks. And I think if they win this
- 55:26game three, which they should, they're they're 5 1/2 point
- 55:28favorite. I think it might help Boston to
- 55:31to get away from that home crowd.
- 55:33I think they're just playing so tense down the stretch in these
- 55:37games. They're dominating the Knicks
- 55:38for 3 1/2 quarters and can't finish the job.
- 55:42I think if they win game three, get that monkey off their back,
- 55:45they they'll be fine and they can win this in six or seven.
- 55:50But I think plus 170 to win the East, they they get by the
- 55:53Knicks, they they should be able to do that.
- 55:55So I'm going to take the Celtics plus 170 to win the Eastern
- 55:58Conference Scope Finals. Right man, you know you know
- 56:02what's so funny I I know everybody has the Celtics
- 56:05winning game three I it's going to be very interesting to see
- 56:08how the Knicks come out. I the Celtics have been
- 56:11dominating the first half of every single, every single first
- 56:17and second game. I mean, they've been dominating
- 56:19the first and second game. They've been, I think they were
- 56:22up 12 points in both those games.
- 56:24And then they go into the second-half, they play well in
- 56:27the third quarter, but at tail end of the third quarter you see
- 56:30that the Knicks have life. And in the fourth quarter the
- 56:33Knicks just take over. They play hard, they play
- 56:35defense and Mitchell Robertson has been a big piece and
- 56:38important piece to the Knicks and and what they've done
- 56:41defensively really over the last couple of years.
- 56:44And now you have wing players like Miguel Bridges, you have
- 56:47Josh Hart and you have arguably I I think it's Kawhi Leonard ask
- 56:52and I'm going to say he he is that.
- 56:55And you know, I'm talking about speedy OG, Mr. OG Ananobi, who's
- 56:59been sensational too. So and he's been shooting very,
- 57:02very well since he's come back from his injury.
- 57:04So it's interesting and I do believe I agree with you.
- 57:06Whoever wins this series is coming out of the east.
- 57:08They're going is probably going to the NBA championship and and
- 57:13honestly, I'm going to take whoever comes out of the East to
- 57:16win the whole thing. I don't trust OKC.
- 57:18They're too young and I don't know if they're, you know,
- 57:21obviously as they move forward, the Nuggets, could they get
- 57:23through that series? The Nuggets are interesting, but
- 57:26I don't know, I, I just, I question if they have enough
- 57:29depth like they've had over the years.
- 57:31And Jamal Murray isn't the same Jamal Murray.
- 57:33I don't know what's happened to him.
- 57:35And then on in the other thing, Golden State's old.
- 57:37They're an old team. I if they win this series, I'll
- 57:40be shocked. The Timberwolves are
- 57:42interesting. I the Timberwolves should this
- 57:45might be the easiest path to the championship that they ever had
- 57:49and and I think they could beat. OK, see, I think they could be
- 57:52any one of those teams, the Nuggets.
- 57:53If Anthony Edwards is playing at the top of his game.
- 57:56I just ain't. I think Andy Anthony Edwards,
- 57:58his problem is he forgets that he is Anthony Edwards and not a
- 58:02third person. Reminds me of Kyler Murray who
- 58:05just likes to talk in 3rd 3 pers Three people like he's this guy,
- 58:10that guy in the other guy and he's got to stop playing those
- 58:12video games. I, I I don't know.
- 58:14He's playing with Anthony. Edwards, dude, all he's doing on
- 58:16the site, everything he's posting on social media, it's
- 58:19oh, who's what's my highest score?
- 58:21I don't care what you're doing on Twitch.
- 58:23I don't care what you're doing on a video game.
- 58:25Control yourself and concentrate on the basketball game and
- 58:29knocking off the Golden State Warriors who right now you have
- 58:32an advantage because you don't have to deal with Steph Curry.
- 58:35So that's my opinion to that. But Derek, man, I'm I'm happy
- 58:39for you, man. You're married.
- 58:40What's going on with you? What you what have you been
- 58:42doing? Are you been going to school?
- 58:43What's going on? I, I've been going to I, I have
- 58:47not been available for the show because I have been going to law
- 58:51school part time at night, evening.
- 58:53I just had my last exam last night, which you know, was a
- 58:57doozy, but I got through the first year one down 3 to go.
- 59:02But you know, it was good. You know, Brian's done it
- 59:05before, but so it was fine. I didn't, I, I thought I would
- 59:10kind of, you know, dread it, but it was actually, it was, it was,
- 59:14I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
- 59:16But it's, it's, it's tough. It's a family business.
- 59:19Your father's a lawyer, your brother is a lawyer, and now
- 59:21you're going to be a lawyer. But they're different lawyers.
- 59:24They're that you don't, you don't want to be a sports agent.
- 59:26I I would. I do not.
- 59:28I do not, no. I think you want to do something
- 59:30else, but I'm listen, man, I wish you nothing but the best
- 59:34and like us. So we're going to we're going to
- 59:36make announcements at the end of the show as well, where we've we
- 59:42have an opportunity to and moving forward.
- 59:44I know your brother knows the situation.
- 59:47We're very excited. There's there's a great
- 59:49opportunity and where we're going to be going in the very
- 59:51near future. And I, I, it's been a long road,
- 59:55but it's, it's, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.
- 59:58So, and hopefully it's not raining when we get out of the
- 1:00:01tunnel, that's for sure. Anyways, Derek, we love you.
