- TCM 3D: Welcome to the Revisitation Right Podcast. I'm Pat. Brandon. I am Justin. Pat's not in car today. I am not in the car today, thankfully. Thankfully, the pothole didn't break anything, so we're good. Rest in peace to the Ford. No, no, no. It's still kicking. It's still kicking. All right. And the Honda easy, man. Dude, his his is worse than mine. Yeah, bro. Poor Honda. He should have shed a tear for that. Sorry, I thought we prevailed. Do you find anything yet? Yeah, I have to go pick it up. In in Florida. damn. Yeah. Let Brandon drive it up. Unfortunately, unfortunately today we have Brandon's favorite movie of the of the whole series. Texas Chainsaw. I don't know the way you talk about this one. I have I was expecting a little more. I have a s you know, I have a story with this one though. You know I think we need like story time music to introduce the stories. Yeah. I think I think that would definitely work. Go get cuz. This one you might need to have some some Barry White and some smooth jazz. Go get cuz. So my let's bro. Let's hear the story. I'm I'm interested now. You can't just say it and not say it, so It's actually funny because when I was in high school, Texas Chainsaw was like this it was like a movie you put on when you invite girl over. I did that like a couple of times. So for this one, I remember like when it came out, you know, I had seen the beginning, so I was really excited about seeing this version. So I was in college at the time and the person who I was like dating, we weren't like official yet, but You know, I had this whole elaborate thing where, you I'm gonna I'm gonna ask her to be my girlfriend this day. And I had the keys to her her apartment. And I used to work like not that far. So we went to go see Texas Chainsaw Massacre and then we came back to like her apartment. And you know, before I'm working, so I have like this really elaborate plan. You know, I buy like roses and then, you know, I take the stems off, the bouquets leading up to the room. I had got like candles, wine. was a whole thing. So you know, after we saw a Texas Chainsaw massacre, I asked her, hey, like, do you want to be my girlfriend? She said yes. So you know, we're going back to her place and there's like a fire. Something happened in the apartment. So we're standing outside in the cold for, I don't know, 30 minutes before we could like enjoy and celebrate being together. So like this is that's why this particular movie has like a special place in my heart. Very very Pat. I'm sorry I'm sorry. I'm only laughing at Pat's reaction. I think that's all we could play with out of trouble. But so now I'm curious. Rose petals is a good that's a good look. I'm curio I'm curious what kind rose petals? What kind of roses? Was you get red roses, pink roses, white roses? Red roses. Red roses. Red roses. Classic old roses. All right. Yeah. Yeah. What kind what kind of what kind of wait you were sixteen, so what'd you get? Like Boone's farm? Thirty classy. Well no, I wasn't sixteen. I was we we were both of age. I thought you said you were in high school. That was the beginning. you were on the doctor program at in high school. I understand. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right, so how did it work out when I saw this? I mean We're not together anymore, obviously. I'm judged like Did Tex did Trey Songs turn her She was half Italian too. She was half Italian. So now I'm c I'm curious how did how'd it wind up? Was she she okay with seeing the three D or was did you watch it in three D? I don't remember. I don't think we did because we saw it at like the movie theater at Universal Studios. Like we drove out and then there was like this little boat that all the guests could take and it's like a beautiful overlook of like the park, the lights, so it was like a whole thing. Chestnut checkers. I wanna play the little violin for you right now. Yeah. Okay. We don't do anything half ass over here. Alright, so except for the movie choice, obviously. Everything was good, but the movie choice. You didn't know what to expect when you saw this. No, you didn't, because remember, before this movie, the beginning came out. So it was, in your opinion, the best one out of these series. So I'm expecting something great. I think the beginning was good, like the montage from the different Texas Chainsaw movies, it opened up with the b the First one, the original, and then it kind of had like that old timey feel, but then it just started to really go downhill. I mean, I also would say that this is probably the second or third one just because of the cast. Second or third best one? Outside of Trey Songs. Favorite one. Like I've watched this multiple times. I can just put it on and have it in the background. Is it because of the memories of the girl or is it because of the movie? Nah, it's Alex, it's Alexandra and then Tanya. The the the two other actresses. I'm always showing up for them. Go get cuz. I I don't know. So now which which was a better use of the word cuz? Was it Paul Walker or was it Alexander Dodario? Paul Walker hands down, bro. Alexander Paul nah. Plus it sounded fake. Like it sounded try hard. Yeah. Paul Walker like, I said forget about it, cuz. It flew natural. It was natural. You know, I bet you the D P was like, damn, that was that was the first take. Him him and the director like, Yeah, that was that was one take. And that was good. The other actress Well Yeah, we're good. We don't we yeah. Let's roll with that. Very nice. I also remember the other actress, Tanya I think her last I think her last name is Raymond. But I had a crush in her growing up because she starred in Malcolm in the Middle with Frankie Munez. It was like the episode where she had a crush on him and then he said something and she just like punched him in his throat. So I like I always remember her from that episode. So you like him feisty? We learn a lot about you today, yeah. So that's it. Any feisty women that love the romance, just you know, contact Brandon. He's got rose petals for you. And Texas Chainsaw 3D. We do it over Yeah, rose petals. If if you can hot wire a car, you want he wants your number right now. Red wine. I think it was red wine from Olive Garden. Because that used to be the date spot. It was Olive Garden, it was Red Lobster. That's all I could afford on a college you know, salary. Unlimited breadsticks. She was Italian, there were to go to Olive Garden, get Italian food. That's a little racist, first of all. But so she was Italian and willingly went to Olive Garden? Yeah, but her lasagna from scratch, my gosh. Woo I don't know. Willingly going to to Olive Garden is you're taking your life in your hands. That lasagna though. Anyway, let's get back to the film. So we know Brandon liked it, so I wanna I to hear Justin's take on three D because you liked the first you liked the two previous also. So going from Shit was the ass, bro. The one with Jessica Beale, then the one with Jordana Brewster, you go to three D. Is this the first watch? I felt like I watching one of the I felt like I was watching like Scare Movie Three or something. I was like, what the fuck is this, bro? Is this the first time you watch this one? In full, yeah. I've seen like I've seen like like funny memes or something here and there around like Halloween time. But like I saw this movie f you know, beginning to end and I was like, damn I am never gonna watch this again. Damn. Yeah, I I was like I was like, dude, this is like epic movie part two. I was like, I can't I can't take this movie serious, bro. I was like, I that's I can't. I'm sorry. I can't. I can't. I will be lying to everyone if I sit here and be like, Love it. Nah. You know you know what I will say though? I will say it was probably the best beginning of any Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I I liked how they did the They tied it with the fire and the sheriff and all that. I l I like how they did that. But that's where it stopped and started and stopped for me. Everything after that I didn't I didn't like how convenient they made everything. she's mysteriously the niece that was the baby that was left over there that the sheriff took, whatever it was. I don't remember now, but Yeah, there's like a giant elephant in the room, mid attack when when I forgot her name, when she pulls up with the with the van through the through the doors. It's like, bro, we need this there's something that needs to be discussed here. Nikki. What are you w what are y'all two doing alone right now? You know? That was never discussed. So That that was that that's the I was like y'all never talked this out when ya had the chance, like in between. I know you guys are trying to stay alive. But not even like one comment. Like what was what was what was at the barn? You know? What's going on? You have some positives to the film though. I don't know, man. I have a feeling we're gonna spend a lot of time shitting on it. So let's get the positives out of the way. Obviously not branding. The song the song that they played while Trey Songs was playing pool. I found it pretty dope that he was playing pool to his own song. I was like, That's pretty sick. And they're like, Fair enough. I I did always find that funny when artists have their own music in their own movies. It's always a little it's always a little funny. Yo, I have a story. There was this one time an artist coincidentally pulled up to a gym that my friends and I had pulled up to. It was like a 24 hour gym that had a basketball court. So the court was 24 hours too. So this artist came in. And we were all playing with the artist. While we were all checking in, everyone was kinda like soup that he was there. He he he asked the the the guy in the front if he could play his music in the speakers and he was like nah. That's rough. Did he did he have gym type of music though? I don't know man. I don't know anymore. There's only three types. I don't know anymore. All right, so I was like, damn. I was like, that's fucked up. I would have played like a couple of songs, like two, three songs. You know, top three. So since since Brandon liked it, let me hear your positives. I think the kills are good. I when I initially saw this movie, I didn't connect the dots that the other, I guess, antagonists was Scott Eastwood, Clint Eastwood's son, which I thought he did a fairly good job. also a positive was one black person didn't die in this movie. The sheriff didn't die. He actually helped him out in the end. I think I remember people cheering in the movie theater when Leatherface killed the guy. Like people were like clapping. Hi five, even because like it was it was like a celebration. I mean the end was a little goofy with him doing the the plants helping the house, like you don't know this person, you know, she's cooking for him. And I guess she just kind of forgets about all her friends that got killed. But I guess you know, the the guy they picked up, the hitchhiker. He was stealing stuff and then her boyfriend cheated on her. So I guess so it's okay to get dismembered? We've all seen Mitsumar, right? We saw what happened with that. And the way the grandma like proposed in the note like that's our cousin, you know, it's like deal with it. But did you read the letter? You know. Yeah, you like, yeah. That's your cousin. That's him. That's your cousin. That is your blood. Accept it. Leatherface is back to an odd job. So he fell in love. In the second one. Dude, he dude, he was about to he was about to soften up. He was ready to receive a hug. Grabbed the arm. He said, Nah, bro. Remember the next scene, I gotta slam, I gotta slam my dog, I gotta stay. I gotta stay aggro. Let me get up. I love you though. Like that was the energy that I that I felt when he like he's like, nah. He's like, I love you, but nah, I gotta I gotta I'm Leatherface. I can't be doing none of that shit. Yeah, I I I don't like when they make Leatherface like that. He's got Leatherface is like, chill, bro, chill. Remember? I'm supposed to be killing people with shit. I'm like, don't even be doing that. I appreciate it. I love you too. Fist bump? He's he's gotta have the mean streak. He's you can't you can't make him fall in love. You can't make him recognize a cousin that he's never seen in his life. Like can't you can't do that. It it just makes us branded. It makes us stupid. Bro got stomped out for a little. I was like, damn, bro. The cops te was crazy when he was in there by himself and the sheriff the sheriff can't even get a hold of his own police force and then he just gets slaughtered. He's like, shoot him And the guy's like No? I don't know. I didn't really notice no. I'm not gonna shoot. I didn't really notice the the 3D aspect of it. Like I d I didn't feel like there was 'cause normally when you watch a three D movie not in three D, you can c you know, things are a little more flying towards the screen, they're going a little I didn't notice any of that. So I'm curious how it was in three D. I noticed I noticed it I noticed it very faintly when I was watching it 'cause I didn't watch it I don't have three D glasses, it's just lying around. So I didn't watch it three D. But I noticed like some parts like like the chainsaw coming real close, something like that. Like small like whoa you know. But like It was like it was a very faint amount. I feel like it was the three D aspect of it, you I feel like you probably had to go to the theaters with your dedicated three D goggles or glasses or whatever. Is is there anything technical about the film that you guys enjoyed or didn't like specifically? On the technical side of things. like I wasn't a big fan of the cinematography. I I did like the sound design. I thought the sound di sound design was one of the better ones in this film. I I didn't like the acting. Yeah, sound design was cool. I d I didn't like I I think if I gotta give it a positive, I think I I will give it just the sound design. Everything else just didn't really connect for me. I I I tried because Brandon was like, it's it it's got Trey Songs, it's dope. It just wasn't. I could I couldn't get into it. He was on get into it. He was Trey Songs, man. At that point, Trey Songs was like such a big megastar when this movie came out. So it kinda made sense. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. But I mean I'm see who Don't remember seeing him in any other movies. What has he been in aside from I think this was it. this was it. One and done. They're like, we've seen enough. Yeah, and but I looked at I looked up to see what the director did before to just compare. And the only other movie that his name is John Lucenhop, I think that's how I'm pronouncing it correctly. The only other film that he did that would be recognizable would be Takers. Takers, takers. It's not regular. Paul Walker, Chris, Chris Brown, T. I is that the one where they're in suits for some reason? Yeah. Yeah. I remember but I don't remember it. I remember but I don't remember it. They have suits for some reason. I think I saw it pop up on Tubi this week. I didn't I I didn't watch it, but it is. It's actually a really big cast. Idris Elba, Matt Dillon, Hayden Christensen, Paul Walker, Chris Brown, Michael Ely, T. I damn. Zoe Zeldana. Zoe Zeldana's in here. Yeah, there's a pretty big cast. Dude from Friday Lights the T V show. So I mean, like I outside of this, he I don't know, and maybe they looked at this and like, yeah, we we don't trust you with anything else. Although I did see he's also a an executive producer for Leatherface, but going back to what you said in the previous episode, that could have been a legacy kind of thing. Cause the original Sally was also on the which she was listed as a cast member for this movie, but she wasn't in the movie at all. Maybe she was in the like the flashbacks and stuff like that. The very the the montage I would say that's winning. So you have to kind of credit you have to credit them when if if you do that. So I I would think that the chase the chase scene in the carnival, I thought that was kind of cool. Cause you know you just see this big dude who's not been around people forever. And he's just running around just kids and families with the chainsaw. Like he didn't give a fuck who was around him. He's like, I I'm gonna kill you. See it's cool. It was a it was a it was a cool scene, but I I just don't think it belonged in the movie. Like I Like I if you're watching a Leatherface, like I don't want to see him fucking shooting ducks at a carnival game. Like I that's the last thing I want to see Leatherface doing. You want him to kill a kid? Yeah, yeah. I wanted him to you know do what he does. You too. I mean listen, I I don't want him Strangling kids with exercise. Parents is like, if he's gonna fucking kill him, then we'll be we'll be good. Chop the kid's head off or something. You know. I don't want him playing at a carnival. Parents like, yo, whoa, well, what the fuck, bro? What do we do, bro? The I mean, the only person who didn't really get a proper death was Trey Songs because he died in the like the dumbest way, where Leatherface comes with the chainsaw under the van and then it just like runs and you know tilts over. And then he just, I guess, dies from impact. That was like you're a Hollywood star, so we're not gonna kill you in a certain way. And it kind of reminds me how Kelly Rowland was killed in spoilers, you haven't seen it, but it's whatever. Friday versus Jason. Kelly Rowland was in Friday versus Jason. Mm hmm. That I didn't know. wait, I think I seen the meme where she's like walking him down or he's walking her down or something. I I always thought that was like an internet thing. I didn't know that was from Freddie versus Jason. She said Freddie was a little small down there. That's why with those kids. I mean it would be burnt it would be burnt off, I would assume, right? No, that's why you started with the kids in the first place. Technically it should be burnt in the Allegedly. Allegedly, because we don't know if he did it or not. See you're set you're setting me up for these jokes. I I don't want to do it. So we're gonna have to move on. I got I got a lot of I got a pent a lot of pent up jokes in me today, so we we're gonna have to move on before I get us in trouble. So this movie I mean, this movie also went over, you know, it did meet its expectations because the budget was twenty million, but it made forty seven, which I guess a failure compared to what? I was gonna say twenty million on the budget, but it was three D, right? So that requires a little more and and you gotta pay you gotta pay Trey Songs. He's not he's not cheap. Was what the hell's her name? Alexandra Alexandra Didario. Was she I d I don't remember what year this was made, but was she like a star at this point or No. I don't think so. This is tw this is twenty thirteen. Was it still like an early movie? 'Cause right, what what made her Fuck man, I got a mosquito in here. I think it was this one, wasn't it? Well yeah did a true detective come out. Wasn't she in true detective? For a second? And didn't she do a movie with your with your boy, The Rock? Yeah, Baywatch. I thought it was San Andre wasn't a San Andreas? The rock. It was San Andreas and Baywatch. The Rock was a star. That I never saw. And she was in Percy Jackson, so maybe that was her her big out party. And then she was in the Jonas Brothers movie. Jonas Brothers, the three D concert experience. And they were she loves those three D movies, huh? Well that was around I think the other movie that I remember seeing in the movie theater that was three D was the remake to My Bloody Valentine, which I also own on D V D. Dude, I never I never liked three D as a kid. Shit was gory. God. I never liked three D as a kid, bro. It always gave me headaches. Me too. I'd be in a theater like, bruh. Like, and then I'd take it off and watch it without I'm like No, I'm like, never again, bro. I saw Avatar in three D. Obviously you have you had to see the first one in three D. It was pointless without it. And I seen w some kind of Marvel movie in three D. And I think that's the one that gave me a a really bad headache. Was it was the second Avengers in three D? I don't think I watched the f second one in the movie theater. I know one of the I'm pretty sure it was an Avengers movie that was in three D. It might have been the second one. I think I s I watched that one in three D. I think it's I think it is the second. The one where they go to Where the city falls down, they pull the they bring the city up and then the city comes collapsing down. I don't remember which one. Age of Ultron, I think that is. I wanna say I wanna say I saw that one in three D but I'm not a hundred percent sure. Maybe it was Iron Man three. I'm not sure, but I I saw something around that time. Marvel in three D. And it gave me like a massive, massive headache, and I never watched anything in three D again. Yeah, but I can't I can't watch three D. Anything three D I can't. I I don't know. Like I I there's really nothing I could go into about this movie. Like I didn't I didn't really feel Like there was anything that stood out, like overly bad or overly good. I just thought it was just bad across the board. Short episode. I feel like it's just like a date movie, bro. Like it's just Well, Brandon would know about that. Fake horror movies. It's just one of those fake horror movies you take your girl out to go watch. Anything horror, we're gonna watch it together, you know? It's like three D, it's gory, you know, hold my hand. Huh. So And I was looking at it just to pull it pull it back up again. I was trying to find in the group chat, but like I was looking at this just really inconsistent timeline that they have for the entire series. So this one is after is right after the original one. And then Leatherface, the one that's, you know, we have after, is like the origin to the like that's what it says the timeline is for this. The next one, right? Yeah. So What happened to two, three, and four? Because those were literally right after. That's on a different timeline. So it's original it's original four are on a separate timeline. And then the two ones that we did previously the are on their own. Michael Bay, they're on their own separate timeline. And then this one is at the end, the original one, and then Leatherface is first. Yeah, that's an alternate universe with dimension, man. This is confusing to me because doesn't this take place like frequencies, man f forty years after the first one? So how would that even join the same timeline? They had cell phones in this room. The same way how but the same way how Michael Myers has Halloween has different timelines, same thing with this. That's why I hate the new Marvel thing. I don't fuck with timelines like that. It's too much. I always think of Back to the Future. I still can't see. What? I can't see the correlation how they would tie this one into the like this one would technically be a direct sequel to the first one. I I don't Yeah. I don't I believe it's like where they just say it. Were they just like figure it out? It kind of makes I can I can see how it makes sense because if you start with Leatherface, the family's together and then the girl gets away, and then the the community tries to burn it down because in the Leatherface, remember the cop was pissed because his daughter was killed and he wanted to punish the Sawyers. So it it kind of adds up if you look at it from that way. So what was he do. So so if that's the case, right? I just mentally I just mentally didn't invest. Leatherface has to be sixty years old in this movie? He was moving. he was moving slow. Yeah, but not 60 years old slow. He wasn't moving like Zero and the Irishman. Yeah, but Michael Irvin is 60 and he still moves pretty good for his age. That's Michael Irvin. Professional athlete. You got a professional butcher. Who well, he's not even a butcher anymore, right? Who knows what the fuck he did in this timeline? Yeah. Top tier protein. That's what he's getting right now. And every single day. I I can't that soilant green. So let's say he was twenty. And no, he had to be older than twenty. He had to like thirty five or forty at the original In the original Texas Chainsaw Mask. So if this is forty years after that, he's gotta be eighty fucking years old. No, no. I don't I don't care what they say. There's no way this falls on the same fucking timeline. They're just trying to make some shit make sense for the trash fucking films. That's all they're trying to do. Who's who's who's that girl from Mortal Kombat that's like ten thousand years old? Katana? Yeah. Maybe maybe maybe he has like Maybe they're the same species or something. I know. In human years, he's like eighty. Well, that's kind of different because you know, Mortal Kombat goes into He's ten thousand years old. Otherworldly. But it also kinda makes sense because it also kinda makes sense because the beginning opens up with the original. So it kind of alludes that they are connected. I if anything, Leatherface would not be connected to the first one if you kind of think about it, because it could go either way. So I could see You know, obviously the connections. I don't age. But maybe he has Benjamin Buttons. It's gotta be a different leather face. It can't be the same leather face. The age is just Benjamin buttons, man. Same bodybuild. Maybe he gets younger as he ages. Yeah, but I mean when you get older Benjamin Buttons. You get fatter. You know, you're not gonna you're not gonna you're not gonna have the same build. Either that or you shrink. You you you're not gonna stay the same all for forty years. I definitely will lose weight if I keep on doing cycling and doing 18 miles a day. The fuck? Yeah, maybe he runs in strict diet. You're gonna look like the rocks. Human liver. Human liver with some spinach. Counts as macros. I don't know. And when you get a I don't I don't know. Has eyeballs for snacks. I think that you like low carbs eyeball diet. They're trying to do something to justify the timeline and make it make sense, but I I don't think it's working. I don't think I don't think anyone is looking I don't think anyone who is a fan of this film is looking that deep into the you know the the lore and trying to make the connections unless you're a huge leatherface fan, which there are a lot of a lot of them. A lot of them. I I feel bad for them. No, it it it it again it stands the test of time. It doesn't. Yeah, come on. We gotta go like stop being so polite. We gotta stop being so polite Michael Myers, bro. No, it does. I just I just recently told you all about me going to Hollywood Horror Nights and seeing a group of under eighteen kids with Texas Chainsaw shirts on. Like they're they're locked in. Well, that's like people wear band T shirts and movie T shirts they've never seen because it's cool. And I know young people don't do that a lot. This older women. This horror towards wearing I think horror has started to really go into the mainstream more over probably the past what like decade, a decade and a half. Like Halloween is such a big holiday that it really wasn't a thing, you know, that you celebrate starting in September and all through October. It's like, spooky season, let's watch a horror movie. There's Options, there's good movies, there's bad movies, and you know, fuck it. I like good movies, but I also like really bad movies. So that might justify why I like this one. See, I I'm I'm with you with the good and the bad. I I just think there needs to be like the bad needs to know it's bad in order for me to like it. Like if it's trying to be a good movie or it's trying to, you know, do something and it's still bad, it's a bad movie. But if if it's a bad movie that knows is bad, that plays into it being bad, like Dr. Giggles, like we talk about shocker, like shocker. Like all those movies, they know their they know what they are. And that's what makes them fun. That's what makes them entertaining. But look at their budgets compared to this one. This one had a twenty million dollar budget. That's what I'm saying. For twenty million, you have to make Ten of that went Trey Songs. Yeah. Ten of that went to Trey Songs. Probably. Ten went to Trey and then the other five was for the song. He's getting paper. You'd be surprised how much those songs cost. I'm saying he got pissed. I mean I can go into a rant about music. You know, in in I know you haven't finished it yet. Or maybe you finish it, but this now I'm kinda thinking about it to correlate the two, but they kinda gave 'cause it doesn't make sense because Leatherface in that one, it's a different feel for him, kind of, but you can kinda relate it. But it's like in this movie, they kind of crystal laked Leatherface in this one. You know how I don't know, I'm not sure if you've been seeing the internet memes. People are like sympathetic about Jason now. They're like, look at that cute little sweet boy. I would have burned everything down. Pamela was justified in killing everyone. So that, yeah. Well, they're like, you know, he was just a s Okay. Shout out her, man. She she she over here protecting. Yeah, so Leatherface, Leatherface wasn't like a necessarily a bad person, which I also don't think that he was. I don't think he was a bad person in the Let him get a job. Other ones that we reviewed, as we discussed previously, it was more so the fam the the the uncle or grandfather. I'm sorry, it was the uncle who kind of influenced him, but he wasn't a troublemaker until He lost his job, everything kinda went to shit. And I think in this one he wasn't necessarily a bad person with bad malicious intent because even in the beginning, they're burning the house down and they're trying to protect him, and he's a little he's frightened. So he's killing everyone out of fear in this one as well. Well forty years later, what's your justification for killing people? Still fear. Yeah, 'cause he n yeah, 'cause he knew that his grandma, the the caretaker, knew that if people found out he was still alive and he was outside, they would hurt him. So he's an evil motherfucker. I think that's also No, I think that's a psychological thing. Sometimes when people aren't all the way connected up there, that they can do things out of fear and they might hurt people. Bro, I saw open ribcage on the plate, dude. I don't know. I shit had like a eyeball on the side and it was like human remains. What the fuck? You're like, dude, you're twacked out, bro. What's cool with you? How good is this heroin that you're smoking, bro? Or you're whatever you're doing. What you got going on, dog? I don't know. I I can Is that a human rib cage on a plate? I can see sort of where you're going, but I don't know. I I d I don't I don't think that's the case. I I I just think he's evil. I just think he's evil. There there's no but but I don't know. Jason, I I got two and a half episodes in right now. No thing though, this shouldn't this shouldn't even be a discussion about Leatherface, bro. This should Leatherface should be be like emotional. It's it's it's gonna look I wanna kill everyone. I mean I think the f first episode was good, but after a while I I think I told you I watched a review and I just said one seven eight. He the guy just said do that. Everything else is filler. I'm not listening to people online. Which is funny because now I'm a person online. So so it's fucked up. But Yeah, no don't don't listen to us. Watch it for yourself. Yeah, watch it for yourself, obviously. But I watched one, two, and like I'm I'm halfway done with three. I mean I like it so far, it's just there's a lot of story. He's he was. He's a little sweet boy. He's a very sweet boy. But see that. That's why the internet's saying that we're riding for him. That's also my problem with Carrie. Is we should do an episode on Carrie, but my problem with Stephen King Stephen King signed off on it. He gave his his official stamp for that that series. I know I'm gonna say this and then if something ever happens, he's gonna pull flowers from YouTube, but He has horrible taste in movies. He Ste Stephen King has horrible taste in movies. I think there's like I think three or four that I agreed with him on, and then every time he says a movie's good, I I learned that if Stephen King says a movie's good, not to go see it. And I'll be The original carry was good. The original carry was good. Kuo Joe was not good. Kujo was good. It was great. and then Pet Cemetery was really good. The first cemetery was really good. First one. The original. The original. Yeah. Yes. But that's also his work. So when he starts talking about other stuff, that's where I kind of check out. Like he didn't like the shining. How do you not like I know. But he liked Doctor Sleep. I mean Doctor Sleep Doctor Sleep wasn't bad. Like if you go in I couldn't get over that that fucking hated the shining though. I couldn't get over that fucking hat with the Rebecca was wearing. It was soaked over the shining. The thing is if you go into the into Doctor Sleep as its own movie Not as like not anything to do with the shiny. If you just go into it as its own movie, it's a pretty decent. But the problem is you're constantly comparing it to comparing a masterpiece, in my opinion. And there's no way it's gonna it's gonna match up even. Even close to even. They tried to recreate some shots. But with I don't know where Stephen King smoked when he said that. I'm sorry. Yeah, the there was there was some other stuff like my bad dude. I I believe he didn't like the mist either. And I I thought the mist was one of the better Stephen King adaptations. I don't think I've seen the mist. It was okay. I I mean I think it's one of the best endings. I liked it, but I don't remember the ending. I think it's probably top five movie endings of all time, in my opinion. yeah. I we forgot it. That's the original was a banger. Original was great. New ones are okay. I d I didn't care for the T V show. I liked the first half, then it got weird after. but misery. I only I only really liked the first out of the newer ones, I only kinda liked the first one. Yeah, I didn't know that was kinda second. I was kind of checked out. But like I don't know if you did you watch Carrie Justin or no? The new one the new TV show? The TV show? No. I've seen the original. So I'm I'm somebody that doesn't really care if you stick to the original. So like I I would like I like to see like if you want the original, go watch the original. Like I want to see somebody's fresh take on something. I want to see a different Just a different take. Maybe like different lore. Like I want to see something different if somebody's gonna attack something. Otherwise, I'm gonna watch the original because I know this is not gonna be as good as the original. So that's why I'm I'm cool with. I know people are saying Crystal Lake is bad because they changed the whole lore of Jason. Like I'm cool with that. I don't care. Like I I want to see a good, I want to see a take on it. Good or bad, I want to see it and see if it fits throughout what they did. Here Once I tell once I watch it, I'll let you know. But with Carrie, they took out the purpose of Carrie. So you can do whatever you want with the show. Like Jason, you could do whatever you want, even Welcome to Derry. Like you you do whatever you want, but leave the the purpose of it, leave the reasoning behind it in there. And they completely strip that out of Carrie. Like for Alright, I'm not blocking any spoilers, so if Sorry, Justin, plug it, clu cover your ears. so No, no, wait, wait, wait, wait. Cause no, no, wait and wait for a separate episode. All right, we'll do we'll do it in separate episode. But I'm gonna defend the show. Yeah, because I'm gonna defend it. They stripped ca they stripped Carrie from Carrie and turned it into Mean Girls, basically. There was you did not have to name that Carrie. Mean Mean Girls And Flanagan t is good. I like Flanagan. I like everything but the Midnight Mass. Midnight Mass. Midnight Mass was great. Midnight Club, I hate. Hated Midnight Club. And he's got the Exorcist coming out now. Which one Scarlet does? In a different background. But now, does she has she forgotten to act? She's been in Marvel so long. She used to be she used to be a good actress. Is she still a good actress? She was in that recently. That's that's Marvel reloaded. That's that's not real active. Mahershar Ali was in there too. Isn't it? Yeah, he didn't forget that because I feel bad for him. 'Cause he's been doing some luckily they didn't do blade. don't do that. Luckily they didn't do blade. I thought you were gonna say something about about your mother, your mother, your mother. No. I got no comment on that movie yet. I need to I need to watch it again. You saw it? You haven't seen it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I watched it once. I I need to watch it again. I didn't fully pay attention, to be honest. Didn't fully pay attention. I I was kind of doing two things at once. And I star like I started I started locked in and then my phone started blowing up and I had to I had to answer it. So so you so what movie theater were you watching it at? The same one I always go to. I always go to Regal. Always go to Regal. So why am I g I got I have to see that why would I go anywhere else? Unless it's IMAX. Unless it's IMAX. Yeah. They well they only play two shows. for Regal. That's all you need to know about that movie. I'm gonna watch it 'cause I like it. Like I'm I'm gonna go back and before it goes out. I think I I saw it's still playing this week. Well, it's playing Sunday. I didn't check for Monday, so I might go in Monday and it's cut off. He didn't do bad. He can't he didn't do bad. I didn't like the story. I don't think he can do bad. He's he's he's talented. I unless he just picks some b like a bad movie, I don't think he's gonna like even then I don't think he'll I think he'll he'll be fine in it. Which is like a lot of actors. A lot of actors that I like that start to take on like, you know, shitty roles. Not even shitty roles, like just roles in bad movies. They always they you know, they're usually the the bright spot of the movie. And I'm sure I mean Xandra the the Dario. I'm I'm not a fan of her as an actress. I haven't seen anything from Anyone in that movie? Yeah, is there anyone in in in these movies that you could say okay, I'm I'm a fan of of at least their work. Some of their work. In the whole series? This one in particular. This one in particular? Scott Eastwood has been in some good stuff. Yeah, but he's been in some really bad stuff too. I mean, I don't mind him. I I wouldn't go into something expecting him to absolutely murder a role. I haven't seen it yet. He's eye candy. If you like that type of thing. I I prefer my men a little more rugged, but but yeah, like he's he's cool in Fast and Furious. You know, he's cool in like the the small little roles he does here and there. Like I d I don't mind him. Like he's not gonna be a reason why I'm not gonna go see a movie. So he he's cool. Like I don't I don't mind if he's in a movie. haven't really seen anything from Alexandra Di Dario that I've been like, all right, you know, she's I I can watch a movie with her in it and trust that it's gonna be at least decent. and I forgot honestly, I forgot the rest of the cast. Like it they just were not memorable whatsoever. So I think I remember her first from Percy Jackson because I I never loved that movie. Never seen that. Well, you know me in Greek mythology. Yeah, I've never seen Percy Jackson either. And then yeah, this girl, Tanya Tanya Raymond, she was I believe she was shit, Deep Blue C three. the only thing I remember her from was she did a show with Billy Bob Thornton. On Amazon a a while ago. Like a while ago. Maybe almost ten years ago probably. He played like a she's ace. Like some kind of like some kind of lawyer or something he played and I think she was their assistant. They were working out of like a hotel. I don't remember the name of the show. I remember being having like a really good first season and like an okay second season. And then third season I wound up cutting off halfway. It it got stupid. But that that's the only thing I've ever seen. I just wanted so I just wanted to to verify that she was actually in this. But she's in a couple episodes of this show called Lincoln Lawyer. It's on Netflix. I've never seen it. And it's actually really good. I heard I heard I heard it's good. I just haven't seen it. Never seen it. They got one more season and I just happened to watch it on accident while this lady was, you know, braiding my hair, and then I went home to watch it and finish it. Yeah, I'm not really a big fan of like series like that. Really? Huh. Yeah, I'm not I'm not too big of a fan. Nev Campbell's in there. the series have become way better than movies. But the pr the problem with a lot of them is when they do like those eight episodes, like technically those eight episodes so back in the day they used to be thirteen episodes. So the Sopranos used to be thirteen, the wire, Oz, they all started out at thirteen. And then people were complaining they were too long. So they cut down. Then it was twelve episodes. Then it was ten episodes. And now they a season is eight episodes. And anything more than that, you're they're throwing you a bone. But These eight, like the last show I watched was Carrie. That could have been a four episode a strong four episode series. But it was repetitive throughout the whole fucking thing. Like you didn't need half of that stuff. The end was a little rushed. And then and then you rush the end. Like the end is bullshit. So But like if you if you tighten that to four episodes, it probably would have been a really good show. But eight was too long. Six is probably even too long for it. And that's a problem with a lot of like series now is yeah, they give you the eight episodes, but two and a half are usually filler. And stretching Crystal Lake. Yeah. I I kinda got that too long. I kinda got that when they were in the second episode when she went to that self help or whatever that is. Self help seminar. I mean the end was funny. God got his head bashed on, but I kinda felt like that episode like I get it. You wanna kinda show her as this, but you don't need a whole episode to d and that's the problem. They they're dedicating whole episodes to character development when they shouldn't. Like That's two, three. Taking away the lore of Jason. Yeah. Well, I don't care about that. It takes away I care about the technical aspect. So it takes away that that could have been done in four scenes. Like she went bowling with the sheriff, the friends, she did this. You could have added another scene of some sorts like that to show her character progressing. She didn't need to go to self-help. And, you know. This dude tried to bang her, her flip out. Like you didn't need that. That that's just pointless. she was waiting for the cop, the sheriff. Locked and loaded. So, you know, like that, that's the problem with series. But for the most part, though, series have been way better than I've seen a way more better shows than movies in the past 10 years. And I watch a lot of fucking movies. The funny's a little funny too over there for movies. Yeah. Yeah. What? You know. You should know that, Pat. I should. I should. Unfortunately. I'm not going into it. I'm not gonna go into it. I was in the mood yesterday. If we had the po if we had the podcast yesterday it would have been how long are we now? Forty fifty four minutes? It would have been a fifty four minute rant and it would have ended with what'd you think about Texas Chainsaw three D? What'd you think about? What'd you think about done show over? That's what it would have been. But I I I don't want to shit on them as a streamer because It's it's technically not really their fault. You know? and I don't want to shit on the producer that hired me because He was smart and he hired me. So I can't really say anything. Or the engineer. The sound engineer either. Sound engineer was a cool guy. He was cool. I liked I liked him. I liked a couple of the gaffers I worked with. They were cool. I would not I mean, unfortunately, I have to do five more days. So and you can't shit on the fluffer. Can't shit on the fluffer. No, can't definitely can't shit on the fluffer. But it was I don't want to shit on them because they I'm trying, I'm sorry my hardest. So exit 17 was originally supposed to go to them. And when I showed them what I had, I was like, listen. Yeah, I was like, listen, you know, we're I I had a little personal issue. So I had to take the Exit 17 fund and do a home project. I was like, so I'm trying to, you know, build back up my film fund to finish the Exit 17, but the horror act, because they were like, there's no horror in it. They're like, we're we read the script. We want the horror that's in the script on screen. So I was like, well, I was like, we had to shoot in winter. So we shot all the indoor stuff first. So we shot and everything indoors was just the police interrogation and then all the dramatic aspect of the film. Outdoors was the horror. So when I sent them everything that we that I had. And I didn't finish cutting Mamado scene because I couldn't match the cameras to what I had. shout out to Sony. that's part of the reason why I despise Sony now. But magenta ass skin tones. That's just another fucking that's just another rant. But so they were like, you know, we we want the horror. Where, you know, so I went over it with them and I'm like, listen, I was like, you I'm The horror's expensive. Like if for that three or four scenes, it's gonna be like fifteen th fifteen to twenty thousand dollars maybe for the special effects, you know, all the all the they call consumables, but like blood and like latex and it's gonna get expensive. You know, 'cause I don't have Hey yo like what do you call it? Like we have a lot of people in our circle, but nobody does special effects makeup. So we have to go outside and get special effects makeup. It's expensive. So I tried to get them to give me the money to finish it. And they were like, Nah, that's not what we do. They were like, if you're someone that I know you know who can get you that money. I know a guy. I know a guy that knows a guy that knows a guy. I know a guy. I don't want to do things for that money. So this there's certain eyes. Certain Just close your eyes and think about flowers or your dogs. I'll I'll think about the nice rose petals that are on the beds. I'll think about all that. That ain't it. No, I I I I wouldn't make a good a willing participant, so The more you hold, the harder it is. But that's all I know. On that note, anybody have any final Texas Saintsaw three D? Notes. I'm out. I'm out. I'm out. Shout out Trey Shout out Trey Songs, man. I don't know what else. man. Shout out Trey Songs, bro. Props to you for getting the producers to play your music in one of the scenes. That was pretty baller of you. Shout out to you. I actually saw him recently dab me up. pretty cool guy. From my experience. Shout out. Shout out you, Trey. I got no shoutouts for this movie. It's a fun movie to put on in the background. Again, it's a pass it out. I have zero shoutouts for this. All all I can say is go get cuz. Go get him. That that's gotta be the best line I've ever heard in a horror movie in my entire life. Nah, bro. Buster Rhimes has it. I'm I I'm sorry to say, trick or treat motherfuck you remember that? I've I've purposely stayed away from Halloween was that resurrection? H2O? Yep. That's Resurrection. I think it's H2O was with L L Cool J. Okay. Then I purposely stayed away from I purposely stayed away from them too. Never watched. Nah, I'm I'm gonna do for itch was very bad. Gotta watch Resurrection. you never seen it? No, I stayed away from one of those two. Resurrection is H2O You need to watch them to see how bad they are. But also, and then he like hits him in the head with something. I don't know. Before we knew, Resurrection had Tyra Banks. So I was already seated for that. So I did all of them up to it, skipped those, and then went right to the to the Robby Zombie to the the other ones and the remake reading. Dude, at least at least watch resurrection. I've skipped those two all these years. Just cause You have to, man. I've heard such bad culture. and the the it's fine. They're horrible, bro. It's they they lit they're trash. Next year you need to watch them. Yeah, next year and then and then you'll say how bad half of those Halloween movies are. And you'll be like, I guess sex chainsaw is not that bad after all. You know, I don't know. No, black people are still getting shit done with with a with a singular kitchen knife. This guy is a chainsaw. He's getting fucking beat up by two cops. Never really fully liked or went through three. Four or five can be a little campy. six is a no. Rob Zombies or no. See, I don't I actually do like H2O. I remember being okay with Rob Zombie. I like the I like the first I like the first one. I don't like it. It gave me that same energy as as the the first Texas Chainsaw remake and the or those two. Where it's like a real gritty leather face. Okay. You know, it was like a real gritty, like Very aggressive version of like a Michael Myers. I remember loving how thousand corpses. I was like, damn bro. I was like this I got the final kinda scary dude. He looks like looks like Kane. W do you want to shout out your date for that night, Brandon? No. Why would I do that? I'm just saying, I don't know. You you made such a you know, such a romantic gesture in the beginning. I wanted to, you know, close it out on such a high note. Although in in all seriousness, I I hope she's doing good. I hope the best for her. Yeah, I hope my exes are doing well. That's yeah, I would say that. That's very big of you. Up hope you're doing Hope you're doing well. If you're not happy with me, I hope you're happy with someone else. On that note. Revisitation on the podcast. Of course. Brandon. I'm the only one. Justin. And we're done.
