- 0:00Speaker 1: You know, I'm really proud of one of our former interns, Dawson.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Remember you remember Dawson Dawson. He's been working with me
- 0:10Speaker 1: on some other projects. And on Saturday we did an
- 0:14Speaker 1: event at Ken Sanders Rare Books down in the basement
- 0:18Speaker 1: of the Leonardo Museum. And but this and Jimmy Santangel
- 0:23Speaker 1: is involved in it too, and it's called Literary Livations,
- 0:26Speaker 1: but at any rate where they're setting up for it,
- 0:29Speaker 1: and it involves talking about books and you have a
- 0:31Speaker 1: little wine and some little snacks, and the audience buys tickets.
- 0:37Speaker 1: And they weren't there yet about we expected about twenty
- 0:40Speaker 1: five or so, and they weren't there yet. And all
- 0:43Speaker 1: of a sudden, one of Ken's employees said, you know
- 0:48Speaker 1: there's a mouse over there, don't you Ken? Ken said
- 0:51Speaker 1: what he said, look, showed him a picture. He said,
- 0:54Speaker 1: is this cute little mouse running around? And Ken said, well,
- 0:59Speaker 1: we better do something about that. We've got people coming.
- 1:02Speaker 1: You know, you don't want you don't want to have
- 1:04Speaker 1: people sitting there. And then all of a sudden the
- 1:07Speaker 1: mouse runs across the floor. It would be distracting at
- 1:11Speaker 1: the very least, and so attempts were then made to
- 1:15Speaker 1: capture this mouse, and I thought, this is never gonna happen. Oh,
- 1:19Speaker 1: it's never going to happen. And Jimmy was trying to
- 1:23Speaker 1: catch it. The employee was trying to.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Catch somebody video video.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Actually, I don't know why I should have done it,
- 1:30Speaker 1: but I didn't. I was busy, kind of had my
- 1:33Speaker 1: tension divided. But all of a sudden, then everybody seemed
- 1:37Speaker 1: to stop trying to catch the mouse. And then Dawson
- 1:41Speaker 1: or I said, there, he is right there, and he
- 1:43Speaker 1: was like just ten feet away from me.
- 1:45Speaker 3: And it was just a.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Little, tiny, little fella, little tiny brown mouse. Maybe it
- 1:51Speaker 1: was like it was a baby. I think it was
- 1:53Speaker 1: just really little. And uh, all of a sudden, Dawson
- 1:58Speaker 1: springs into action and start and nobody wanted to hurt
- 2:01Speaker 1: the mouse. That's everybody's going, no, don't, we don't want
- 2:04Speaker 1: to hurt it.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Don't hurt it.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Don't hurt it. I mean, you could have just squashed
- 2:07Speaker 1: it with your foot, you know, it was that small.
- 2:10Speaker 1: But Dawson, he had this plastic bag, a big plastic bag,
- 2:14Speaker 1: and he's down on his hands and knees trying to
- 2:17Speaker 1: get this mouse to and he did. He got the
- 2:20Speaker 1: mouse to run into this plastic bag.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Did he happen to have a piece of cheese on him?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Dawson? No, I don't think so. I think Dawson if
- 2:29Speaker 1: you get if you get close enough to Dawson, you'll
- 2:31Speaker 1: find that he always smells like cheese. But he caught
- 2:36Speaker 1: this little mouse in the in the in the plastic bag,
- 2:39Speaker 1: and then he and Ken Ken said come on, we'll
- 2:41Speaker 1: take him outside. And they took him outside where I'm
- 2:44Speaker 1: sure a bird ate him, you know, swooped down.
- 2:48Speaker 2: One of my kid's favorite books when they were little
- 2:50Speaker 2: was called Library Mouse, Library Mouse, about a mouse that
- 2:55Speaker 2: lived in the library and loved the books and loved
- 2:59Speaker 2: going to a like story time, listening to the library.
- 3:02Speaker 1: You know what mice love about books, chewing the pages
- 3:05Speaker 1: up and ruining them.
- 3:06Speaker 4: No, No, this book he was.
- 3:08Speaker 3: He loved this.
- 3:08Speaker 1: He was a literary mouse. It's a it's uh and
- 3:12Speaker 1: Ken says, yeah, I see him. I'll see a mouse
- 3:14Speaker 1: down here every once in a while. It's just they
- 3:17Speaker 1: were just around, you know, but there. It always It
- 3:21Speaker 1: always makes me feel bad when you have to trap them.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I've been in situations where people have had you know,
- 3:28Speaker 1: the bam and Ken says he wants. He says, I
- 3:32Speaker 1: won't do that. I'll use I use live traps if
- 3:34Speaker 1: I have to, I'll take them outside.
- 3:37Speaker 3: I don't.
- 3:38Speaker 1: And then somebody said, I don't think anything about squishing spiders,
- 3:41Speaker 1: but I couldn't do it to a mouse. And I said,
- 3:43Speaker 1: well there's more goose. Yeah you should be. You should
- 3:46Speaker 1: be in my house because we don't squish spiders in
- 3:48Speaker 1: my house. Even it's always oh, look at the little spider,
- 3:51Speaker 1: Let's get him and put take him outside.
- 3:53Speaker 3: That's what happens at my place.
- 3:55Speaker 2: In my house is if you're in my house, it's
- 3:57Speaker 2: my house. Yeah, I'm not gonna rush the outside. We
- 4:01Speaker 2: don't squish things outside. That's your house. You know you've
- 4:03Speaker 2: built my house.
- 4:04Speaker 1: You built your house on top of their house. I
- 4:08Speaker 1: mean really, if you think about.
- 4:09Speaker 2: It, we colonized.
- 4:11Speaker 3: They lived there before you did. You're the intruders.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Yeah, you're you're the British colony.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Yeah that's right. But anyway, he got he's he was
- 4:21Speaker 3: safe and sound.
- 4:22Speaker 4: I saw your pictures on your social media's of your trip.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Yeah, where did you go?
- 4:27Speaker 2: It was a quick trip, Santa Barbara. Joe surprised me
- 4:31Speaker 2: and said for our anniversary, we're going to Santa Barbara
- 4:34Speaker 2: because they have a new direct flight we're always looking for. Okay,
- 4:37Speaker 2: we want to go somewhere for the weekend. It's got
- 4:39Speaker 2: to be quick flight and it's like an hour from
- 4:43Speaker 2: here to Santa Barbara.
- 4:44Speaker 3: But what's in Santa Barbara.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Well, we we wanted to go there because of the flight,
- 4:48Speaker 2: but also my grandparent.
- 4:51Speaker 3: You know, flight to Denver's quick too.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's for you, Yeah, for me, you can
- 4:57Speaker 2: go there in a second. Santa Barbara's beautiful. I think
- 5:00Speaker 2: it's like seventy degrees year round there.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I love it. I love it there.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Like Carrie's brother in law used to live there. And
- 5:09Speaker 2: the first thing I said to Carrie this morning is
- 5:10Speaker 2: why did he move from there?
- 5:12Speaker 4: He lived in that area. Yeah, covered, that was one
- 5:15Speaker 4: of his areas that he had to cover. But that
- 5:17Speaker 4: meant that we would go out and visit him, and
- 5:18Speaker 4: then we would go to Santa Barbara.
- 5:20Speaker 2: And and Sue sent me all of these restaurant recommendations
- 5:23Speaker 2: and they were things like Julia Louis Dreyfus likes to
- 5:26Speaker 2: eat here, like it's it's like Oprah lives there, and did.
- 5:31Speaker 4: You go to the place on the beach with the seafood.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and beach the first just day we went
- 5:37Speaker 2: there for onunch.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Just beautiful.
- 5:39Speaker 3: You know. Santa Barbara means Saint Barbara. Yeah.
- 5:43Speaker 2: So we went to the mission because my grandparents used
- 5:48Speaker 2: to go there every year on their anniversary and take
- 5:51Speaker 2: a picture.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Well, there's a that's the first thing that came up
- 5:53Speaker 1: when I googled Santa Barbara.
- 5:55Speaker 3: It was a picture of that mission, of the mission
- 5:57Speaker 3: and your grandparents.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Yeah, And if you go to my social media, my
- 6:01Speaker 2: my Facebook and everything, you can see that. But so
- 6:03Speaker 2: at the missions, we took the tour of the mission
- 6:06Speaker 2: and it's beautiful old building and then of course exit
- 6:10Speaker 2: through the gift shop, which is what you do. And
- 6:15Speaker 2: they have these and I sent this to Katie. I
- 6:17Speaker 2: don't know if she has it.
- 6:19Speaker 4: I've got it if Katie doesn't have it, So.
- 6:20Speaker 2: There is at These Franciscan wine.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Bottle covers are creepy.
- 6:27Speaker 2: They're eighteen ninety five now.
- 6:30Speaker 3: So Franciscan. Well yeah, the monk hoods and the robe
- 6:36Speaker 3: and the brown robe.
- 6:38Speaker 2: But I took a picture of it and I said,
- 6:40Speaker 2: I'm going to send this to Carrie because they look
- 6:42Speaker 2: like jawas and Joe took my phone out of my
- 6:45Speaker 2: hand and heat colored in little yellow eyes.
- 6:47Speaker 3: They gave them yellow eyes.
- 6:49Speaker 4: And I said that if they sold them that way,
- 6:51Speaker 4: they would sell hundreds, hundreds of undreds of them.
- 6:54Speaker 2: I mean, I think people might buy them just as is, because.
- 6:57Speaker 3: They will click what are they for?
- 6:59Speaker 4: There are wine?
- 7:00Speaker 2: Like like if you're giving a gift of a wine,
- 7:03Speaker 2: it kind of is a you know, you put it
- 7:05Speaker 2: over the bottle bottle cover.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Okay, I would get one of those if it was Java's.
- 7:11Speaker 2: But so what I thought, Carrie, because we have this
- 7:13Speaker 2: thing now where we don't buy each other things. We
- 7:16Speaker 2: see things and think of you. And I saw this,
- 7:18Speaker 2: and I thought, if I were buying Carrie things, I
- 7:21Speaker 2: would have bought in one of those little Java.
- 7:24Speaker 4: You know, you should have got anyone. I would have
- 7:26Speaker 4: figured out a way to have the yellow eyes on it.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I should have. I thought we weren't buying.
- 7:32Speaker 3: That's the rule. Tell you what.
- 7:34Speaker 4: I will go to Santa Barbara and get one.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Okay, Rob Low lives there too.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like it's big, you know, celebrity. I didn't
- 7:42Speaker 2: see any celebrities.
- 7:43Speaker 4: A place on Henry's beach though, is just lovely.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Though. What's it called?
- 7:47Speaker 1: I can't remember now, you have to you have to
- 7:49Speaker 1: kind of walk to get you went there, Gina, what
- 7:51Speaker 1: to call?
- 7:52Speaker 2: I don't remember the names of these places. Boat house, yeah,
- 7:54Speaker 2: the boathouse, you know, that's theouse.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Yeah, just beautiful.
- 8:00Speaker 2: But yeah, if you're looking for a quick getaway, I
