Northrop erected this building, which was thoroughly remodeled in 1870-71 for the South Carolina Loan and Trust Company by Thomas H. Abrahams and John H Seyle. Both the façade, with its cast iron storefront and plaster ornamentation in the Italianate style. and the interior. with its fine plasterwork and woodwork, date from the 1870- 71 remodeling. George S. Cameron was president of the bank, which began operations in 1869
