- 9:05One-one pitch here it is, low outside. Pittsburgh won the first game of a double header and they're tied in the second game.
- 9:20And lost the second game 4-3. Now to stretch the pitch here it is and it's a little bit outside.
- 9:34The Cardinals in the National League East are only a game out now. Now to stretch. There goes a run at a pitch swung and he missed the throw. How trying to steal.
- 9:51Legos and Rodriguez to Doyle with a count 3-1. Muehler was going. May swung trying to protect him and missed. It was a strike anyhow.
- 10:06And Muehler was easily out trying to steal. No runs, no hits, no errors, nobody left. We go into the bottom of the first-nose score. So May, the cleanup hitter, instead of batting with a man on first, will be leading off in the second inning.
- 10:24Here's Mickey Rivers hitting 287. Pitch by Jim Cox went on, long drive, center field. Henderson back on the run makes the catch. With one hand over his shoulder a beautiful play.

- 11:16Oh about that. A line drive back to Cot hit him right in the glove. Rebounded back towards home plate about halfway. Herman went off, scooped the ball up and fired a burst.
- 11:30Oh it's one, two, three if you're keeping score. One, two, three, kick. One, two, three, kick. Oh that's what you call self-defense. Here's Lee Stantz.
- 11:46Cot made two pitches and both have been hit on the butt but out. Now Lee Stantz, right hand hitter the pitch. Takes the low ball too as he also missed with the first pitch inside.
- 12:00Two balls, no strike. Two on the ground, nobody on base, no score. The pitch here, this one. Wide ball, right center field Henderson on the run. There and he makes the catch.
- 12:16Two, three, nothing at fly. At the end of one, hitting no score. We go into the top half of the second inning. Carlos May who was at the plate when Mueser was out trying to steal will lead it up.
- 12:39Carlos hitting 277. Here's a pitch swung on, a bouncing ball up the middle. Denny Doyle has it. Oh the first pitch done, run away.

- 13:26The Cardinals beat the Phillies 4-3 tonight. Here's a pitch swung and a miss. The Cardinals were trailing 3-2 when Reggie Smith hit a homer with a man on. So the Cardinals are only one game out of first place.
- 13:40Pittsburgh is 4-1 half out. Here's the pitch swung and a miss. No strikes and a ball. One man out. Ken Henderson batting 286. The pitch curve low.

- 14:25Here's the pitch foul back. Pirates beat the Mets 6-0 in the first game of a double header. And Adams beat 3-0 in the second game, only to have Ed Cranepool hit a homer with two on and tie it. And the Mets won it later on.
- 14:41Three balls, two strikes. Minnesota beat Kansas City 7-3. Now the pitch swung and foul back. So the White Sox could jump back in the second place with a victory.
- 15:01They're in fourth at the moment. Kansas City and the Rangers are tied for second place. Kansas City playing at Oakland. Three balls, two strikes. The pitch all four. He wants it.
- 15:19That's his second loss. Here's Bill Melch hitting 227. 14 homers, 41 runs about it.
- 15:39Bill Sharp will be next. Here's the pitch swung on foul back out of play and in the stands. A souvenir for someone. One strike to nothing.
- 15:55No score. The judge affirms the runner back. Bruce Bakke. Left hand. Youngster playing first base. Now the stretch. There's the pitch. High pass ball.
- 16:15That evens it up a ball and a strike. Oliver at third. Valentine playing short. Doyle at second. Bakke at first. Now the pitch. A little tap foul off his foot.
- 16:30And he's in the hole, two strikes on the wall. The Angels are drawing 675,000 people this year. 54 games. Here's the pitch. Outside.
- 16:59They have 26 games remaining at home. That's how late this season is getting. Now the stretch. The pitch. There it goes, way back. It might be out of here.
- 17:13It could be. It is a tremendous home run by Bill Melch. He hit a high pass ball and he hit it a mile over the left field wall. That's his 15th home run of the year.
- 17:29Boy, he really kissed that one. That's the 15th home run he hit off Ryan this year. And the 15th home run that Bill Melch has hit this year.
- 17:46That's his career. 133rd now in the White Sox. He's just two behind Minosun. How do you get that on the next home set? Here's Billy Sharp. And the pitch by Ryan. The fastball outside.
- 18:00One ball, no strikes. Two runs are in on a home run by Bill Melch. Here's the pitch. In there a beauty of strike call. Two runs are in, one out.
- 18:16The 22 teams come on out. We'll be on earlier. Here's a pitch low. Cubs got beat at extra innings today. 4-3 Montreal beat them.
- 18:31One ball and a strike. The pitch. Foul back to the screen. So Montreal beat the Cubs. Dodgers are leading at San Diego. Pittsburgh split with the men.
- 18:47The Cubs go beat Atlanta. The Cardinals defeated Philadelphia. Reggie Smith had two homers in that game. Now the pitch. High. Back to the screen.
- 19:02The Cubs couldn't beat Cincinnati. In the American League, Minnesota defeated Kansas City. The Tigers rallied in the ninth inning to beat the Red Sox 7-5.
- 19:19Cleveland over Baltimore. Milwaukee down the Yankees in the first game of the doubleheader. The second game is tied 1-1. Oakland and Texas just gotten underway.
- 19:38Two balls, two strikes. Let's see Chuck Tanner coming out. Complaining about the count. It should be two balls and a strike. A 3-2 make it. Bill sharps the bat.
- 20:03Up on the board, they recognize the United Airlines White Sox fan club from Chicago.
- 20:15Three balls, two strikes. Two runs are in on a long home run of the bat of Bill Melton. His 50s of the year. Here's the pitch. Strong and he's stuck him out. Strikeout number two.
- 20:31Now to bring up Ed Herman batting 275. Six homers, 28 runs out of it. Top of the second inning. Two to nothing in favor of the White Sox.

- 21:06Mike and nothing to pitch. Strong and he misses right to. Ed Herman the batting. Buckie Depp will be next.
- 21:22Hey, stuck him out on a breaking ball. That's his third strikeout. Two runs, one hit. No errors, nobody left to the gun to the bottom of the second. White Sox, two angels, nothing.
- 21:36Harry Carrey back in Anaheim. Here's Frank Robinson, the designated hitter to lead it off. The first pitch is outside and low. Robinson with 15 homers, 47 runs about it in. Hitting 252.
- 21:49Jim Cot on the hill. The pitch, he started his swing held up. Curveball is low and inside. Cot has 111 and lost seven.
- 22:02Two balls, no strike. Now to wind up the pitch, one on a long drive deep center, way back. Henderson near the wall, may make the catch. He leaps, hits the wall, holds on to the ball.
- 22:14Holy cow, what a play. Ken Henderson ran into the center field wall. I think that's all canvas out there.
- 22:24Cabins over at Chain Lake Fest. Now they made the catch with one hand. One away. Good thing that ball was just straight away. 404 feet away. I thought the one that burst and he was great. That's super. No, that's one gone. Bobby Valentine is shortstop.
- 22:44Now to wind up the pitch is in there low. Make it a little bit too low, ball one. One man out, nobody on base to pitch long and he fouls it. Bobby Valentine hitting 263.
- 23:10Now the 1-1 pitch. Right hand here they're waiting. The delivery. High and outside. Tommy O'Leary, Tommy O'Leary's peak club is losing. All the crowd from the Angels are sending their best regards.

- 24:35Yannis, pretty good hitter. Uses a pinch hitter most of the time. Here's a slow curve high. He's on the Dominican Republic. 31 years old.
- 24:51A ball and a strike to pitch is a let-up roll. Two balls and a strike. Two men are gone. Right hand hitter waits for the pitch.
- 25:05Brown ball foul outside third. That evens it up. Two balls, two strikes. Two men are out. Home run by Bill Melton with a man on has given the Whiteside a two to nothing lead. Here's a pitch.
- 25:21Hey, foul tip. Barely picked the ball. Two balls, two strikes. Two men are out, nobody on.
- 25:37Now the pitch inside fastball. Ball three. Four counts. Bruce Bakke. B-O-C-H-T-E, a rookie. Up in their minor league farm club. Three-two pitch, flung and foul back.
- 25:59White Sox play here again tomorrow night. Earlier starting time will be on the air at 745 Chicago time. Two hours earlier than tonight.
- 26:10Three balls, two strikes. Now the pitch pops up outside first. Mucer may have a play over near the stands. He's got room and he makes the catch to retire to side.
- 26:23The Red Sox are all retired by Cotts. At the end of the two, the White Sox do the angels nothing. Harry Carrey back in Anaheim. He's on to the top of the third inning. Bucky Daffle lead it off. Two to nothing and save it to the White Sox on a home run.
- 26:38At Dill Mountain with a man on. First pitch to Dennis Hyde. One ball, no strikes. Now the delivery. Start of the swing of Flider over the outside corner. The Dodgers lead San Diego five to nothing in the third.
- 26:58He's got weights to pitch on the way. Flider over the outside corner. Strike two. Two strikes and a ball.
- 27:14Dodger Ben and Evelyn Du Bois. A group of Chicago Boosters are here. Now the pitch, here it is. Two balls, two strikes.
- 27:31The delivery by Nolan Ryan. Hyde, top foul on a play into the stands. And the count evened up.
- 27:49Two balls, two strikes. Right hand hit a witty. There's the pitch. High top foul out of play. A souvenir for somebody.
- 28:16They've redone the broadcasting booth here. Two to pitch, here it is. Bouncing ball to the third baseman. Oliver's got it.
- 28:28Bounce the first to the up. Run away. Here's Pat Kelly. Kelly rolled out his first time at bat. One man out, nobody on. Ball game in the third.
- 28:52Two to nothing like that. Now the pitch is a little bit high. One ball, no strikes. Pat Kelly hitting 278.
- 29:08Third ball in the first strike call. That evens it up. A ball and a strike. Milwaukee on its way to a double victory over the Yankees. Here's the pitch.
- 29:23Two balls and a strike. Gene Tennis, just hit home with a man on for Oakland. Now the delivery, here it is. Low. They may never lose a game again.
- 29:38Tennis, just hit his 15th home run of the year with a man on. They lead Kansas City two to nothing. Three balls and a strike. The pitch a bouncing ball.
- 29:52Great stop by Nolan Ryan. Throws the first to the up. Took a base hit away from Kelly. Two gone. Here's George.
- 30:08Struck out his first time. Ryan is staying three. And he's walked two. Allowed one hit a home run by Mel. Here's the pitch going to high.
- 30:25Two to nothing. One ball, one. Dick Allen not playing tonight. Being given a rest. Two men are out. Two to nothing. White Sox the pitch.

- 30:56Two strikes and a ball. Two men around, nobody on. George Orta hitting three thirty.
- 31:12Now to wind up the pitch. Fastball high. That evens it up. Two balls, two strikes. Two out, nobody on. The pitch. Hey, talking about again.
- 31:28One, two, three. Nothing on. Going to the bottom of the first. Or rather the bottom of the third. The score. The White Sox. Two on Bill Mountain. Homer with the man on. The Angels. Nothing.
- 31:42Hitting four fifty five. He's hit one home run. First pitch is in the first strike call. All-ranging hit. Left hand hitter, left hand thrower. He's a little like Rick Monday of the Cup.
- 31:59Now the pitch swung on a little fast. Back to the mound. That's going to be easy. Hey, he can run pretty good. He's out. Seven and a roll retired by Catt.
- 32:14That brings up Bob Oliver. He's hitting two forty. Six overs, forty runs about it in. Jenny Doyle will be next to wind up the pitch. Oliver's lines and foul into the right field corner.
- 32:38One strike to nothing. One man out, nobody on. To the nothing and save it away. Here's a smash. Great play by Ordo to his right to throw.
- 32:49And time. Magnificent play. Oliver's smash went to the right of Ordo. He made a backhand and stop. Recovered through the first and time. Two ups, two downs. Here's Jenny Doyle. Hitting two fifty one. One Homer, twenty six runs about it in.
- 33:13In a big ball game, the Cardinals are still at out here. Reggie Smith. His two home runs. His second with the man on. Here the Cardinals are four to three victories. Here's the pitch. Doyle takes it high.
- 33:30Hit one of the six. And then again in the eighth with a man on to win the game. Two balls, no strikes. The pitch went on a high pop line on the infield. Bucky Dent going out under the ball. He has it to retire the side. Doyle pops to Dent. One, two, three.
- 33:51The score at the end of three, the White Sox two, the Angels nothing. We're going to the top of the fourth, the White Sox leading two to nothing. Tony Musa will lead it off. Moving into ten yard about it, Bill Nerson.
- 34:02In the first pitch from Nolan Ryan, the fastball strike called. Tony walked his last time out trying to steal. Lieutenant hitter facing Nolan Ryan, the right hander. And the pitch by Nolan, the curve in the inside corner called strike one. You may recall the other night I was talking about Mike Lundinan.
- 34:22He's a young fellow who hit a high pop line for Appleton. Here's the pitch inside, a little high ball. One ball and two strikes. He's a young fellow, Mike Lundinan, number one draft towards seventy two who hit the high five ball that killed the Nighthawks.
- 34:38He's had five hits and six at fast and that six runs bad at it. His Appleton defeated Burlington twenty to one in the Midwest game last night. The one and two pitch. Ground ball and shots to the shortstop. Ballantine up with it on the first.
- 34:52He's out for the first out here in the fourth. He reached on a fastball outside. Reaching out and tapped it. Trying to go to left field. Right away in the fourth inning the batter is Carlos May, granted out the second and the second inning.
- 35:08Lundinan, a youngster, had those five hits included a grand slam home run, a triple and two doubles. He's an outfielder. The pitch a little high now to Carlos May for a ball. Carlos May bought it. The muscle problem in his leg. Remember he pulled up lane down at Texas.
- 35:23One oh pitch outside a little high. Ball two. A fine story. In the Los Angeles Times today by John Hall in honor of Casey Stingles' eighty fourth birthday. Here's the two oh pitch. Right.
- 35:38From the outside corner so we should pass along birthday wishes to old Kate. It's amazing how quickly time flies by. Born in 1890. Two one pitch. Outside high ball three. Three and one count.
- 35:54John was remembering some of the Stingles.
- 36:00Always great. Here's the pitch. A really good guess. Whitey Hurtock can do this because he can do a great Casey Stingles. Whitey is the coach of the California Angels.
- 36:14Wave all to try to count right now to Carlos May. One out the White Sox leading two to nothing to pitch. Hardest ball on the ground. Second base and good off the doil. On the first to the second out. Once again Casey said once I've heard it couldn't be done but sometimes it doesn't always work.
- 36:34You know what he said. You mustn't take your eye off the ball until it's in there again and you can win a pennant and sometimes you can't if it winds up somewhere else.
- 36:44Oh we have done without a guy like him. Here's the pitch now to Henderson. A call strike. Casey eighty four today. He had a great interview with John Hall. I wish I could have read the whole thing but it's too long.
- 36:56He's got a beautiful rhetoric. Outside over a ball. What ball was that? He said you'll remember this one. He was trying to remember a ball player's name and he said we'll be ready when the bell rings and that's the right fielder's name Gus Bell.
- 37:12What ball was strike that Henderson. Hard space right to the first base and back deep for the eye. Oh Henderson really ripped that one. First back to the rookie first base and went through right folded in. Three up straight out here in the fourth and Ryan now has retired the last eight men to face him after Melton Homer.
- 37:30No runs no hits. After three and a half quick innings of play the white shot through the angels. Mickey Rivers waved off of the angels here in the fourth inning. Jim Cox first pitchers in there. Nice curve ball. They had some great plays in this game.
- 37:43Mickey Rivers drove Kenny Henderson to the warning track and center field in the first inning. Ken making another.
- 37:51That's for catching center field. Got a great play by and then Robinson hit a longer shot. Kenny had to go up on the fence and center field at four hundred four feet. There's better field curve ball on drive right field.
- 38:04Bill Garso is there and he hasn't put it out. This year the ball is carried better in Anaheim than in past years. You'll remember earlier this year we were here and they were hitting home runs here at a faster twist and in years past they can't quite figure it out.
- 38:23The dog is still about the same tonight. I get the taste of that metal in your mouth tonight. That emissions smell that you get around Southern California when the weather is just right here.
- 38:36The one in the first pitch now called strike to Alie Rodriguez the catcher. I'm talking about Casey Singles 84th birthday. He was quoted again when he made his scooper down Hall of Famer seat.
- 38:47What I'll bet I ball one strike left Casey this there comes a time in every man's life and I've had plenty of.
- 39:01One ball one strike pitch by time there on the outside corner called strike. I'll belabor you with one more single league.
- 39:09You know you should be a dental student former dental students that you got to get 27 out to win.
- 39:17You like a swing and a miss by Rodriguez and that's right three and the first strike out. So he has retired 11 in a row.
- 39:42He's got a one ball strike by Lee Beck and then George order going hard to his right in the third inning.
- 39:51Oh I hear the forest of that one. I think it's a cow.
- 39:56It was 71 degrees at game time it's about 70 right now.
- 40:00I can set a field with water off the pole but the very still and delightful evening here in Southern California.
- 40:16It's 15 more to do this case you said you got to get 27 out to win at the end of the play the white box to the angels nothing.
- 40:31But we stand right now. Nothing is up. That's the only hit off Ryan and no it's not.
- 40:36We haven't been here quite an hour yet and we're in the fifth inning basketball game.
- 40:39I hope we have one like this tomorrow night coming home. No one Ryan delivers that at the fastball in their first strike.
- 40:46No one leading the American League with 215 strikeouts more than coming tonight.
- 40:53And the fact that I tried to write that a field well and racing back to his right of that and he has it for the first out here in the fifth inning.
- 41:02Bill Sharp outstanding a man from the furio.
- 41:10If you saw it spelled in Chicago it'd be spelled R E F U G I O.
- 41:17College for the furio. What a great trades of all time when he came to California. There's a play in a high five ball to left field by Bill Sharp charging in though is Winston Genes and he makes the cut for the out.
- 41:34Go away now on the fifth inning and then Herman is up.
- 41:44He said or died 18 individual records during the 73 season.
- 41:48Mr. Ryan struck out rich race in Minnesota for 383 strikeouts breaking Sandy Kovac 382 which he didn't 65.
- 41:58It's to know hitters first strike in there to add her to know hitters.
- 42:04July 15th against Kansas City Detroit.
- 42:08Here's the old one that's by Ryan and it's like to add her nothing to do.
- 42:15That's the made him the best picture to accomplish the feet one season.
- 42:18Johnny Vandermeer Alley Reynolds virtual truck Jim Maloney.
- 42:23He's been on the road in one season outside for ball ball and two strikes.
- 42:30And all the not only that's to know hitters but he struck out 12 on the first one and 17 in the second one last year.
- 42:36Truck out anymore 23 times on the ground ball the first base side Ryan over picked it up first on first Herman's out at the end of the inning.
- 42:57The bottom of the fifth score the White Sox to the angels nothing like Robinson leading off here in the fifth inning.
- 43:08Jim got tires outside the ball one.
- 43:11The White Sox will be playing here tomorrow night at six o'clock game.
- 43:15California's I will start at 745 Chicago's I've got ball inside and high two balls no strike to Robin Robinson on the air is batting to 52.
- 43:25As 15 home run.
- 43:30Right hander to play and a big hit five for a ball.
- 43:38I guess in five hundred and sixty seven home runs in his career.
- 43:47He's just one ahead of common or he is just one step ahead of Armand Guilbrough and they also runs in a career.
- 43:56I'm in it all right.
- 43:57As a sniper.
- 44:02The first one to run a first heading for second field corner.
- 44:17The third base bag melted at no chance on that one really fall by playing.
- 44:24Here's Bobby Valentine adding to the sixty three a double three triple to the home run.
- 44:32Valentine coming back here after an accident when he went into the defense last season broke his leg.
- 44:40Terrible break here's the first curve ball bounce to the second baseman orders up with it on the first and one away as Robinson advances to third.
- 44:52Winston Genes.
- 44:54Let's build it.
- 44:56Get a starting to eighty seven twenty five hits on the air and eighty seven at bat playing in forty five ballgame.
- 45:02He's at five doubles two home runs and eleven runs right at it.
- 45:06That's good speed.
- 45:08Right hander hitter close to the plate curve ball is low for a ball.
- 45:11His left foot is right at the center of the plate and only about four inches off of it.
- 45:16So he really clouds up in there. Drops the bat way down below his right shoulder.
- 45:23And the curve ball line to the left field that made sure Robinson Carlos May with a catcher comes to throw.
- 45:29Robinson hurried to play and it is not in time.
- 45:37The throw was wide.
- 45:39A long play that Robinson would have beaten it anyway.
- 45:46And it's a two to one ballgame. The White Sox leading here in the fifth inning.
- 45:52The Valentine moves over Robinson and Genes brings him in with a final.
- 45:57And Bruce Spocky batting four fifty five is up.
- 46:01Spocky came into the ballgame with ten hits and twenty two at bat.
- 46:06First pitch is low for a ball batting four fifty five.
- 46:09It is first home run.
- 46:12And the double hitter's something.
- 46:17It's his first major league home run.
- 46:20Sparks down ball to second.
- 46:22Arta scoops it up on the first.
- 46:25Chicago, well you want to talk sports and really mull it over.
- 46:28What's the matter with the Sox, the Cubs, the Bears and what have you?
- 46:30Monday through Friday, ten to midnight.
- 46:32Pat Sheridan sports on sixty seven Q that's where.
- 46:38On the first pitch.
- 46:40Spocky does.
- 46:41He's got the left field for a base hit.
- 46:43And that's the second hit off Nolan Ryan as we come to play here in the sixth inning.
- 46:47Spocky's swing on the first pitch and lining it into left field.
- 46:50Holes at first base. The batter is Matt Kelly.
- 46:54Kelly's running out in the first inning and again in the third.
- 46:58Batting two seventy eight coming into the ballgame.
- 47:00Left hand and hitting Matt Kelly.
- 47:03Spocky's head looks like he may have pushed an ankle or something as he rounded first base down there.
- 47:10Yeah, he's pointing to his right foot.
- 47:12Oh, he's had more ankle problems over the last three or four ballgames.
- 47:16Now Modchak's pointing to where Spocky rounded first and put on the brakes.
- 47:21And evidently he set his right foot down and turned his ankle a bit.
- 47:26Now he's had Dick Allen turned his ankle at Oakland.
- 47:30Campanera's playing his. He'll be out in about ten days.
- 47:33And Joe Ludi up there is playing his.
- 47:36And Spocky now walking off his.
- 47:39I just looked into the glasses down there and noticed that the beautiful field here at Anaheim Stadium.
- 47:47It's not as beautiful as it used to be.
- 47:49They're, of course, they have a WFL football team here and they play when the angels are not at home.
- 47:58And it's been torn up a bit in that outfield.
- 48:01It doesn't look the same watch garden that it normally has.
- 48:05And I wonder, Harry, if that might generate some enthusiasm.
- 48:08Here's a stretch now.
- 48:09That's McKellen. He squared about and let it go for the ball.
- 48:12I hate to think about it.
- 48:13I wonder if they're beginning looking at it and saying, well, we might have to go to that artificial turf.
- 48:18I hope not. I do too.
- 48:20It's such a beautiful place.
- 48:23But it's really spotty out there now.
- 48:26Here's a stretch by Nolan.
- 48:27And Ryan fires the fastball in there for Carl Stike.
- 48:30One ball and one strike.
- 48:34Lucky Nip.
- 48:35Still in first base.
- 48:36Ankle's OK.
- 48:37The on deck batter, George Roga.
- 48:39Ryan now giving up two hits.
- 48:41Jim Cots giving up one.
- 48:43Third baseman, Oliver, playing up on the grass.
- 48:45And the body missed it.
- 48:47One ball and two strikes.
- 48:48He went through the ball a bit.
- 48:50Oliver backed off at third.
- 48:54Goes back to the edge of the dirt.
- 48:56He had been at about 10 feet on the grass.
- 48:59Kelly handles that back pretty well.
- 49:00Might try to lay one down with a one and two count.
- 49:03In field up.
- 49:04Callow in the middle.
- 49:05Outfield straight away.
- 49:07Stretch by Ryan.
- 49:09And the pitch.
- 49:10And he hits a high flying step to left field.
- 49:12Genes backing up a few paces on back.
- 49:15And he takes it for the outs and holding it first is Bucky Depp.
- 49:21Looking out of the ball pan, which is behind Genes in left field.
- 49:25You see Horacio Pena.
- 49:26Horacio Pena.
- 49:28Just came into the California organization from the Chicago Cubs where he had a free four-winger.
- 49:33This is his sixth major league club in seven years.
- 49:36We can ask them how everything is in Chicago.
- 49:41Here's the stretch down the pitch to Orta.
- 49:43Bow ball back by George.
- 49:45Nothing in one count.
- 49:47He plays for the Quilliams up in Oakland, which might have generated some of the enthusiasm for Horacio.
- 49:52Used to be a very, and still a, good relief pitcher.
- 50:00Rick Stelmazing went to the Cubs and I noticed he was in the Cubs lineup today.
- 50:06Rich in the 0-1 pitch.
- 50:08Eye pops out of the left side.
- 50:10Up in the upper deck. Can he count as nothing in two now to Orta.
- 50:14The other end of our night, 7.45 Chicago time.
- 50:16The last game of this road trip.
- 50:19And then open a big series with the Oakland Athletics.
- 50:21A huge series of them.
- 50:23Thursday and Friday.
- 50:25Better get a couple of those games back that were lost in Oakland.
- 50:30Orta to play.
- 50:32And he fouls off another one back in the upper deck to the left.
- 50:38No ball to strike out.
- 50:40Talking about acquisitions by California.
- 50:43A very good friend.
- 50:45A gentleman who has done an outstanding job here as stadium director.
- 50:501968 head both fielders leaving California.
- 50:54Here's the 0-2 pitch. Bow ball right down the left field corner.
- 50:57Has a meeting.
- 50:59There's a former pitcher.
- 51:01He's also a senior duty traveling secretary to California.
- 51:04He's moving up to Seattle to become the head of the King County Stadium.
- 51:08That new dorm update.
- 51:12Talking about the fact they could put 68,000 in for football and 58,000 in for baseball.
- 51:16Here's the 0-2 pitch now to Orta.
- 51:18And he chops the high one towards first.
- 51:20Boxley over goes to second.
- 51:21In time here to fourth deck.
- 51:23Good play by Boxley coming over from first base.
- 51:26Now even that high chop on the second base side of the mound.
- 51:29Clipped it into Valentine forcing this and no play back to first base.
- 51:34Orta's base there in the field is short.
- 51:39So two down now to six.
- 51:40Sonning and Tony Muster's up.
- 51:42Tony batting 3-37 coming into the ball game with 32 hits and 95 at fast on the year.
- 51:47Lost in the first and grounded out in the fourth inning.
- 51:50Most of the other court pointed out, as the public acknowledged, that they do have a football franchise for Seattle coming up.
- 52:00And of course our whole thing is people are conjecturing that there is a baseball franchise there somewhere for them.
- 52:08Gabo in the first pitch for ball.
- 52:15What ball and no strike.
- 52:17Tony Muster's at the plate. Two outs. The runner at first base.
- 52:20George Jordan and the pitch.
- 52:22By drive up to the field coming fast. Rivers on the run.
- 52:25And that fast man will have anything he's got.
- 52:30For no runs, one hit and one left.
- 52:33After five and a half minutes of play, Chicago 2, California 1.
- 52:37And the Sunning, the Angels scored in the set of Robinson Double.
- 52:41And came in on Jenna's sacrifice wide-rack.
- 52:43Here's Bob Oliver to third baseman.
- 52:46Oliver hitting 240. Six double, six all-run, 40 RBI.
- 52:51On the mound, Jim Cutts.
- 52:53And if that's put on, a curve ball is fouled off.
- 52:59There's one more item about Seattle, you know.
- 53:02Steve was taken out of there a few years ago and moved to Milwaukee.
- 53:04But that's a fine force area.
- 53:07Here's the 0-1 pitch. Fast ball. A high, high fly. Right center field.
- 53:12Horta pointing Henderson over. He'll take it. He does for the out.
- 53:17One away and Denny Doyle coming up.
- 53:20The Angels have made a tremendous number of moves lately.
- 53:23And they also have some hurt.
- 53:25Dave Droughtner, finally on shortstop, has a hamstring ball.
- 53:28Paul Schaal and the traded fore from Kansas City has a wrist ailment.
- 53:33Mickey Rivers, a leg strain, but you don't notice that the way he runs.
- 53:37And Frank Robinson is still on. He's just about to pitch a curve ball high over the head of Denny Doyle.
- 53:41For a ball.
- 53:46The Angels have been bringing some people up from their farm system.
- 53:49And sending some back now since they've made these moves.
- 53:52Here's the 1-0 pitch. Curve again high over the head of Doyle.
- 53:54The ball's through. He's got twice.
- 53:56They've placed Captain Charlie Mim in the 15-day disabled list.
- 54:00Option of young infielder Orlando Ramirez.
- 54:03And left-handed pitcher John Covallan out to short-pipe City to the Pacific Coast League.
- 54:082-0 pitch now. And a little pop fly out in the left field.
- 54:12Hurrying back is Vince coming in.
- 54:14And they've called Sabrina for a base hit.
- 54:17That was a high-end five-pitch that Doyle had a fell away from.
- 54:22And half-one-on.
- 54:25And looked it out to left for a single.
- 54:28Second hit off, Jeff Cutts.
- 54:33Got it and retired 12-in-a-row before Lobbison double-offed him in the fifth inning.
- 54:40At the plate now, Mickey Rivers.
- 54:45And the first pitch to left center is low outside curveball for ball one.
- 54:52Mickey Rivers was at 337 during July.
- 54:56At 431 with 28 nips.
- 54:59He's by 65 at bat. He's really been going strong. Leaves the league in a fast triple with 8.
- 55:05Second in hits with 117 behind Carew.
- 55:091-0 stretch. Throw to first. Not in time. Oh, that was close.
- 55:14Buster putting a tag on Doyle but not in time. And a good move by Cutts.
- 55:19Watch over there again. Dave Phillips the umpire first base.
- 55:24Doyle makes a three-step leadoff first.
- 55:28Mickey Rivers at the plate.
- 55:31Right by Cutts. And 1-0 pitch.
- 55:34Ground ball up the middle. Base pitch. Doyle now for second.
- 55:37Two rounds there. Henderson up for the ball. There comes the throw.
- 55:40And it's not in time. He got him at third. He got him.
- 55:44A high throw to Melton. He came down and tagged.
- 55:47Then he'd oil part again and Whitey Herzog just right in the middle of Louis DeMiro.
- 55:56Nick Williams charged out of the dugout. Whitey Herzog was straight in the air.
- 56:00Doyle sliding in. The throw from Henderson was high.
- 56:03Melton Leapfork came down and tagged Doyle.
- 56:09And the way Melton went up, I thought he had no chance at it.
- 56:12But I said he was high and then he came back and got him.
- 56:16A fine play by Melton on a quick peg by Henderson from Denner Field.
- 56:21That's a big out.
- 56:24Still, Whitey Herzog contends that he was safe.
- 56:27And so does Nick Williams.
- 56:36And they still go down that third base line with Louis DeMiro.
- 56:40Nick Williams, ballasting down almost to the outfield grass.
- 56:52Whitey Herzog has a few parting shots as does Nick Williams.
- 57:01Well, a very close play at third with a high throw and Doyle sliding underneath.
- 57:06On the plate, Rivers went to second.
- 57:09They're getting the single.
- 57:13And here's Ellie Rodriguez.
- 57:15Two outs now. Rodriguez ran into the pitcher and had a hard smash in the first inning and struck out on the fourth.
- 57:21And now it's once to second. Rivers with a wide lead.
- 57:23The fastball's swinging to this one strike.
- 57:28Ellie Rodriguez has hit his seventh home run of the year Sunday.
- 57:34One more than his major league total at the start of this season.
- 57:37The best before was two in 1970 and 72.
- 57:41Here's the stretch.
- 57:43And Cox chases Rivers back to second just starting him looking at it.
- 57:48Rodriguez traded over from Milwaukee over this pass.
- 57:53He made it in 257.
- 57:55And the pitch.
- 57:56Bung on the ground ball to second.
- 57:58And it goes between the legs.
- 58:00The ball down the right field.
- 58:02And here comes Rivers in the scoring tie-up to ballgame.
- 58:08George Yordham on an easy ground ball.
- 58:12Put his glove down and it rolled underneath it.
- 58:15That's an error on George. The game is tied.
- 58:21That ball was rolling across the grass right in the order.
- 58:24I just had to stand and wait on it.
- 58:27One of those very, very embarrassing errors that not only was embarrassing but tremendously costly here now.
- 58:34And the 6-0 get tied to the game.
- 58:37Here's the pitch to Stanton.
- 58:38And the
- 58:38first strike is on the
- 58:39serving effort strike call. Nothing at one count.
- 58:45The white talk.
- 58:46Had a fortunate break on the throw to third when DeMiro called the sliding doil out.
- 58:51Looks like they have this inning whipped.
- 58:53Here's the pitch inside fastball.
- 58:55The ball on the strike now to Lee Stanton.
- 59:01One ball, one strike.
- 59:06And the stretch again. Leading off first Rodriguez and the pitch to the curve way outside in high ball two.
- 59:12High game two and two. The angels have three hits. The white talk two.
- 59:19One thing he's done tonight is a type of air pollution in Southern California because you can taste and smell it tonight.
- 59:28Here's the two on delivery. Swing and a miss, strike two. True ball inside to Stanton. Two and two counts.
- 59:41Lee Stanton at his ninth home run is first since June 29th.
- 59:47By a Sunday.
- 59:50He's at the plate right now. Two balls, two strikes.
- 59:53And the fifth. Swing and a miss, strike three and a fastball. Then the sixth inning.
- 59:59Third strike out for Cotts.
- 1:00:04One run, two hits, one error and one left.
- 1:00:08At the end of the sixth inning to play is now the angels two and the white talk two.
- 1:00:14Well it's a side ball game now as we move to the seventh inning.
- 1:00:17The white talk two runs, two hits. The angels two runs, three hits.
- 1:00:20Right here in the sixth you're along the way is Herring.
- 1:00:23Alright here we go on the top of the seventh and an earned run has tied it up.
- 1:00:28Boy a routine roller went right through Orchard's leg.
- 1:00:32Found his pitch, a tremendous ball game.
- 1:00:36He should be ahead two to one instead he's tied up two and two.
- 1:00:44Carlos May leading it off.
- 1:00:49Now the pitch.
- 1:00:51Fastball in there.
- 1:00:53Dave and Anita Hippenstiel of Long Beach.
- 1:00:56Wanting to be remembered to Steve Kavarick and other Chicago fans.
- 1:01:02Here's a fastball inside.
- 1:01:08Gil Ray Piaz.
- 1:01:10Ray and Daniel are here from Chicago with their wives.
- 1:01:17Now to wind up a ball and a strike to pitch way outside.
- 1:01:21Doris and Jim Beretti are here from Chicago.

- 1:02:15Here's the pitch.
- 1:02:17High fastball outside.
- 1:02:20Nolan Ryan has banned only four.
- 1:02:23Hasn't had one since the third inning.
- 1:02:29Three balls, two strikes.
- 1:02:31The pitch swung and a high pop ball coming back.
- 1:02:34Near the screen maybe out of play and it is out of reach.
- 1:02:41Kelly Rodriguez reached over the low wall.
- 1:02:45Might have been able to catch the ball and a fan not interfere.
- 1:02:50But it's safe to assume it's an angel fan.
- 1:02:57Carlos May twice has bounced off of the second baseman.
- 1:03:03Winner's seventh inning.
- 1:03:09Three balls, two strikes.
- 1:03:11Now to wind up the fifth.
- 1:03:14Half swing, looper into left field, gonna drop for a hit.
- 1:03:19May bloops the single and is shot left.

- 1:03:46Bill Melton will be next.
- 1:03:47Here's Homer with a man on.
- 1:03:48A counter for all the white box scoring.
- 1:03:52Reggie Jackson to the homers.
- 1:03:5318th of the year for Oakland with a man on.
- 1:03:56They lead Texas 4-1 at the end of three.

- 1:04:03So the first to run it back.
- 1:04:08Final game of this road trip tomorrow.
- 1:04:10White box and lost six out of the last seven.
- 1:04:14Now the pitch.
- 1:04:16He bumps foul off to the left.
- 1:04:20One strike and nothing.
- 1:04:22Eight team with three hits.
- 1:04:24The difference in the ball game is an error.
- 1:04:28Boy, how often.
- 1:04:29Defense.
- 1:04:30The name of the game, defense.
- 1:04:37One strike and nothing.
- 1:04:40The pitch way outside of foul ball.
- 1:04:53We're in the top of the seventh.
- 1:04:56Now the pitch.
- 1:04:58And here it is.

- 1:05:25Now the pitch.
- 1:05:26And here it is.
- 1:05:28He's struck him off.
- 1:05:32Henderson goes down swinging.
- 1:05:39Here's Bill Melton, the wallop to Homer with a man on.
- 1:05:49The only white box run.
- 1:05:54Now the stretch.
- 1:05:56The pitch.
- 1:05:58Foul, tough.
- 1:06:00Foul territory.
- 1:06:02Bruce Sekke.
- 1:06:03Under the ball makes the catch.
- 1:06:06Melton on the first pitch foul to Sekke.
- 1:06:13Sekke is 23 years old, stands 6'3, 195 pounder.
- 1:06:22He was 355 at Salt Lake City with nine homers when they brought him up.
- 1:06:28Went to Santa Clara University.
- 1:06:32He's only had three years of professional experience.
- 1:06:38Here's Bill Sharp, he's nothing out of two so far.
- 1:06:42Here's the pitch.
- 1:06:43Foul back to the screen and he had a good cut.
- 1:06:5027.
- 1:06:56Two men are out.
- 1:06:59Score tied, 2-2.
- 1:07:04Now the pitch.

- 1:07:18Out ball on the strike.
- 1:07:21The throw the first to run her back.
- 1:07:33There's no Orion getting set.
- 1:07:35Here's the pitch.
- 1:07:36High call.
- 1:07:39Over the outside corner.
- 1:07:49Ball game in the seventh.
- 1:07:512-2 the score.
- 1:07:54There goes the runner.
- 1:07:55The pitch went on a bouncing ball to the second base.
- 1:07:57The Doils got it.
- 1:07:59Over the first to retire to the side.
- 1:08:01No runs, one hit.
- 1:08:02No errors, one left.
- 1:08:04We go into the bottom of the seventh, all tied up 2-2.
- 1:08:11We go into the bottom of the seventh running tied up 2-2 each game with three hits.
- 1:08:16Black Robinson.
- 1:08:21He's hitting the ball hard each time.
- 1:08:25Now to wind up the pitch.
- 1:08:26Third ball on the strike call.
- 1:08:28Robinson fly deep to Henderson who banged it in the center of the wall to make the catch in the second.
- 1:08:33Then he doubled it in the left field corner and scored the first run of the fifth.
- 1:08:37Here's the pitch and it's off speed inside and low.
- 1:08:41The count evens and the ball on the strike.
- 1:08:44Nobody on and nobody out.
- 1:08:49Now the pitch here it is.
- 1:08:51Third ball on the first strike call.
- 1:08:53Two strikes and a ball.
- 1:08:55Frank Robinson.
- 1:08:59Trying to get things started for the Angels.
- 1:09:02Jim Cotter picks the superb ball game.
- 1:09:06Now the pitch.
- 1:09:08Started to swing, he held up.
- 1:09:11The first four innings at Compton were perfect innings.
- 1:09:15Then he allowed a double to Robinson to lead off the fifth.
- 1:09:20But didn't feel out in the sacrifice fly followed for the run.
- 1:09:24Here's the pitch, one foul back.
- 1:09:28With one out on the stick, Denny Doyle blew the single in front of Carlos May.
- 1:09:34Mickey Rivers single center.
- 1:09:37But Doyle was out trying to turn on a great play by Melton.
- 1:09:41There's a line drive foul into the left field corner.
- 1:09:45Melton leaping high for a bad throw coming down to the tag.
- 1:09:49And got Doyle.
- 1:09:51Rivers going to second on the play.
- 1:09:53Rodriguez with a very easy routine ground ball, Orta wouldn't miss it again if he hit him a million like that.
- 1:10:00Tag three on a foul tip to Robinson.
- 1:10:05He didn't mean to swing, the ball hit his back.
- 1:10:08And one with a catch to Herman's glove.
- 1:10:12I'm sure you can hit a thousand balls at Orta.
- 1:10:16Fungal throw.
- 1:10:18Like the one he missed and he wouldn't miss one.
- 1:10:21But this one went right through his way.
- 1:10:26Here's Bobby Valentine with one out.
- 1:10:30There's a curve inside and that's how they tied it up on that one here.
- 1:10:36So he's only allowed one, two, three, four baselots, looting the air.
- 1:10:41Here's the pitch, low curve outside.
- 1:10:46One man out, ball game and a seven.
- 1:10:50Go outside, two-two, bottom of the seventh.
- 1:10:55Now to wind up the pitch, here it is.
- 1:10:58Fastball for a strike.
- 1:11:00Two balls and a strike.
- 1:11:02One man out.
- 1:11:05Two-on-I would be out of the air at 7.45, two hours earlier.
- 1:11:09Here's a big foul back.
- 1:11:11And immediately following the game, we fly back to Chicago for the two-game series with the great old grenades.
- 1:11:18Defending world champions.
- 1:11:22Now the two-two pitch, all three low.
- 1:11:27Three balls, two strikes, one out.
- 1:11:34Now the sign given.
- 1:11:36Here's the pitch.
- 1:11:38There's a smash off the pitcher's hand, Orta.
- 1:11:41He's got it and throws in time for the out.
- 1:11:45And then Codd, touch that ball, he'll get an assist.
- 1:11:54Let's pause quickly.
- 1:11:55This is the Chicano White Dogs baseball network.
- 1:11:58This is WMAQ Chicago.
- 1:12:00Talk sports with Pat Sheridan, 10 to midnight, Monday through Friday.
- 1:12:03Pat Sheridan, sports on 67Q.
- 1:12:09Harry Carrey back at the ball park.
- 1:12:11There are two out.
- 1:12:13Winston Genis is the batter, the pitch.
- 1:12:16A little bit outside.
- 1:12:17That evens the count of the ball and the strike.
- 1:12:25Two-mutter gone.
- 1:12:26The delivery foul back to the screen.
- 1:12:30Tony Coandina, left-handed pitcher who stands 6'5", weighs 2'25", and is just 21 years old.
- 1:12:38Pitch for Sarasota.
- 1:12:41Yesterday, here's a broken back pop flying.
- 1:12:43The shot left, Carlos May coming on.
- 1:12:45Makes the catch to retire the side.
- 1:12:49Genis wide to May, 1-2-3, nothing across.
- 1:12:53At the end of 7, we're tied 2-2.
- 1:12:57We go into the eighth inning, Ed Herman will lead it off.
- 1:13:00Well, our good friend, Norris, from Milwaukee, 23,000, saw the Brewers sweep a double-header from the Yankees.
- 1:13:073-2 in the first game, 4-0 a four-hitter by Kevin Cobill in the second game.
- 1:13:16Here's Herman, he's nothing out of two.
- 1:13:19Game tied, we're in the eighth inning.
- 1:13:21Nolan Ryan getting ready.
- 1:13:23Each pitcher's given three hits to wind up the pitch.
- 1:13:27There's a smash on the ground, front of field, a base hit.
- 1:13:31Herman, single to seven.
- 1:13:35That will bring a bucky down.
- 1:13:37This boy, Tony Coandina, he's from Arizona State, you know how the kind of ballplayers they produce there.
- 1:13:45He was a seventh draft choice for the White Sox last month.
- 1:13:49And in the 34th inning, he's stretched to professional baseball.
- 1:13:53He has struck out 62 men.
- 1:13:58In the victory he scored last night over the Cubs in the rookie league.
- 1:14:01He's struck out 16 batters, walked only one, gave up four hits.
- 1:14:06Here's the pitch, bucky down front, a good bunt.
- 1:14:10There's a throw to second.
- 1:14:12Hey, how can they get him out on that?
- 1:14:15A perfect bunt by bucky down.
- 1:14:20I don't know how you can throw anybody out no matter how slow on that play.
- 1:14:26The rookie first baseman came in, and he picked the perfect bunt up,
- 1:14:32which was down the first base line about 30 feet.
- 1:14:35He had to come all the way in, got the ball, and I was happy to see him throw,
- 1:14:39but sure he'd be late, and they had Herman by a step and a half.
- 1:14:46Here's Kelly now.
- 1:14:52There's a ground ball foul outside third.
- 1:14:55Boy, that's a tough break.
- 1:14:57You can't lay down a better bunt than that.
- 1:15:00That doesn't advance the man.
- 1:15:02It's not the mother's fault.
- 1:15:04From bucky to Valentine, here's Kelly.
- 1:15:12One strike and nothing.
- 1:15:14Score tied 2-2.
- 1:15:17Now the pitch.
- 1:15:19Here it is.
- 1:15:20Curve ball low.
- 1:15:24Mike on Dena, the white docks number one draft trying to,
- 1:15:281972 had five out of six last night.
- 1:15:31Six runs bad and in.
- 1:15:34It looks like the white docks are developing some fine youngsters.
- 1:15:38That's the young fellow who hit the nighthawk the other night.
- 1:15:40He killed it.
- 1:15:42What's a nighthawk?
- 1:15:43Here's the pitch one-hawk on the playground ball.
- 1:15:46Second baseman has it to the shortstop for one.
- 1:15:48He can't make a play at first.
- 1:15:50As bucky's done with the rolling block, took him out of the play.
- 1:15:55So it's a four-thousand.
- 1:15:59From Denny Doyle to Bobby Valentine.
- 1:16:02Here's our time.
- 1:16:04That's the same question Pat Chariton's asked for all season.
- 1:16:07Tonight for the five-round, getting bucks at ballpark.
- 1:16:10You guys from Texas sure know some ridiculous things, you know.
- 1:16:19And I mentioned Rush Street and you say, where's that?
- 1:16:22Oh, I like to think.
- 1:16:24Ha ha ha.
- 1:16:28Aren't that a batter?
- 1:16:31Well, I gave him a run, maybe he can take it back right here.
- 1:16:34Again the throw over.
- 1:16:41The game here tomorrow night starts at six o'clock, which is eight o'clock in Chicago.
- 1:16:46Here's the pitch.
- 1:16:48Wider over the inside line.
- 1:16:50Horton's bad twice and hit to a fourth one.
- 1:16:57We're in the top of the eighth, tied up two and two.
- 1:17:02Now the signal given.
- 1:17:05Now the pitch is set over the first to run about.
- 1:17:14One strike to nothing.
- 1:17:20Now from the belt for delivery.
- 1:17:24Here's the pitch.
- 1:17:26By a good fastball.
- 1:17:29He really buzzbombed him.
- 1:17:31That one by him.
- 1:17:35Two strikes to nothing.
- 1:17:38George Horton about it.
- 1:17:47Now the signal given.
- 1:17:49The pitch on the way.
- 1:17:51Here it is, there goes the runner.
- 1:17:52Strike three call.
- 1:17:55There they had him on second base too.
- 1:17:57We got four outs.
- 1:17:59So Orta for the third time tonight is out on strike.
- 1:18:03And it's no runs, one hit.
- 1:18:05So there's one left.
- 1:18:07And the ball to the bottom of the eighth inning tied up two and two.
- 1:18:10Tied up two and two.
- 1:18:11The White Sox with four hits.
- 1:18:13The Angels with three.
- 1:18:14Here's Boos Boxey.
- 1:18:1523-year-old rookie bouncing off the first pitch foul.
- 1:18:2310,029 paid here.
- 1:18:27On a beautiful evening.
- 1:18:30Out of pitch curveball, low outside.
- 1:18:32This Boxey for a left-handed hitter.
- 1:18:37Doesn't bail out at all.
- 1:18:38He hangs in there pretty tough against the softball pitching.
- 1:18:41A gym cut.
- 1:18:43Now the delivery curveball swung on and popped up.
- 1:18:46Melton's going to have a play.
- 1:18:48Foul territory under the ball.
- 1:18:49He's got it.
- 1:18:52One gone.
- 1:18:55Here's Bob Oliver.
- 1:18:56Dangerous.
- 1:18:58Hitting third base.
- 1:19:00One man out, nobody gone.
- 1:19:11Pretty fast and happy ball game.
- 1:19:14Now the pitch here is Oliver hits a line drive to center.
- 1:19:18And Anderson's back four.
- 1:19:20He's there waiting makes the gap.
- 1:19:24Two up, two down.
- 1:19:25My, oh boy.
- 1:19:33You know, there's only been one ball hit hard off.
- 1:19:36That was a double by Robin.
- 1:19:38The other two were bloopers.
- 1:19:41And one might have been caught.
- 1:19:44Here's a pitch to Denny Doyle.
- 1:19:46Fastball for a strike call.
- 1:19:50Milwaukee Brewers swept the double header from the Yankees.
- 1:19:56There's a ground ball.
- 1:19:57That ought to be easy for it.
- 1:19:58He's got it.
- 1:19:59Throws the first.
- 1:20:00That retires his side.
- 1:20:02One, two, three.
- 1:20:03Nothing across at the end of eight.
- 1:20:05Tied up two, two.
- 1:20:08We got to the top of the ninth.
- 1:20:13Tony Nielsen will lead it off.
- 1:20:15Reggie Jackson just hit his second home run of the game for
- 1:20:18the Yankees.
- 1:20:20He's hit his 18th and 19th tonight.
- 1:20:23And Oakland's got a big lead on second.
- 1:20:27Here's Beal for the first pitch by Nolan Ryan.
- 1:20:30Flung it a fastball and he missed.
- 1:20:33One strike and nothing.
- 1:20:34Mark Johnson tomorrow evening.
- 1:20:36Again, Dick Lang will be on the air at 745.
- 1:20:41Chicago time.
- 1:20:45Now to wind up the pitch.
- 1:20:47Danny Doyle waiting for it.
- 1:20:48Rose and time.
- 1:20:53A lot of pitching though.
- 1:20:58Here's Mayes, one out of three.
- 1:21:05Boy, that's deep morning.
- 1:21:08Really hitting a ton for Iowa.
- 1:21:1116th home run tonight.
- 1:21:13Get one of the bases loaded tonight.
- 1:21:16Here's the pitch.
- 1:21:17Flung on a high pop fly.
- 1:21:19That's going to be an easy out.
- 1:21:21Under the ball to Jenis.
- 1:21:24Two up, two down.
- 1:21:25Here's Ken Hendoff.
- 1:21:28He walked just ahead of Bill Melton's home run in the
- 1:21:32second inning.
- 1:21:37White Sox have not had another man get past first base.
- 1:21:43Only three other men reach base.
- 1:21:49Now to wind up the pitch.
- 1:21:50Here it is.
- 1:21:53Flung it a curve and he missed it.
- 1:21:55One strike and nothing.
- 1:21:56Two out, nobody on.
- 1:22:05Now the pitch.
- 1:22:06And it's a little bit outside.
- 1:22:13Texas is losing.
- 1:22:15Kansas City got beat.
- 1:22:17The White Sox are tied.
- 1:22:20There's a fastball first set.
- 1:22:27Two strikes in the ball.
- 1:22:35Now to wind up the pitch.
- 1:22:36Here it is.
- 1:22:37A low pop fly.
- 1:22:38Short right field.
- 1:22:39Jenny Doyle going out.
- 1:22:40He's got it.
- 1:22:43Henderson pops the door.
- 1:22:44One, two, three.
- 1:22:45Nothing across.
- 1:22:46We're going to the bottom of the line tied up 2-2.
- 1:22:50We're going to the bottom of the line.
- 1:22:52They have the top of their batting order up.
- 1:22:54Mickey Rivers will lead it off.
- 1:22:57He's one out of three.
- 1:22:58He's going to tie it up.
- 1:23:01In the sixth inning, the pitch.
- 1:23:02He swings with a curve and he misses.

- 1:23:16They've already scored nine in the first five innings of the second game.
- 1:23:20Pete Barney in a grand slam in the first game and Lamar Johnson's hit one in the second game.
- 1:23:28Two strikes and nothing.
- 1:23:31Here's the pitch.
- 1:23:32Hey, struck him out on 3-50.
- 1:23:37One out.
- 1:23:38Boy, that's a shame.
- 1:23:40They should have a 2-1 ball game right now.
- 1:23:45That's a little easy, simple roller, but that's baseball trickled right through Orta.
- 1:23:54Here's the pitch.
- 1:23:55A strike call.
- 1:23:56Ellie Rodriguez.
- 1:24:00He's nothing out of three.
- 1:24:03The catcher batting second.
- 1:24:06Now the wind to my cap, the pitch curve ball over low and inside.
- 1:24:10That evens it up, the ball on the strike.
- 1:24:13One man out.
- 1:24:14We're in the ninth.
- 1:24:21Leroy Stanton will be next.
- 1:24:24Now the pitch.
- 1:24:25There's the line shot.
- 1:24:26But he does make a lunging one-handed stab.
- 1:24:31He didn't have to leap.
- 1:24:36He just stuck his hand out to his left.
- 1:24:38The ball was really kipped hard.
- 1:24:41Here's Lee Stanton.
- 1:24:45Since that air, which enabled him to tie the game in the sixth,
- 1:24:49Stanton's retired nine in a row.
- 1:24:53Here's Stanton swinging and missing.
- 1:24:55One strike and nothing.
- 1:24:58Two men around, nobody on.
- 1:24:59We're in the bottom of the ninth.

- 1:25:07Now the pitch is a little bit low.
- 1:25:11That evens it up, the ball on the strike.
- 1:25:14Two men are gone.
- 1:25:15We're in the ninth.
- 1:25:17Now the delivery.
- 1:25:19High pop-ball back out of play and a stand.
- 1:25:32Boy, this ball game has been played about an hour and 50 minutes so far.
- 1:25:37We're in the bottom of the ninth.
- 1:25:39Two strikes and a loss.
- 1:25:41Here's the pitch.
- 1:25:43The fastball barely missed inside.
- 1:25:45That evens it up.
- 1:25:47Two balls, two strikes.
- 1:25:51Mark Johnson will go to our ninth.
- 1:25:53Here's the fifth.
- 1:25:55Line drive up the middle of base end.
- 1:25:57That brings up Frank Robinson.
- 1:26:00The winning run is the first with two outs.
- 1:26:05Now each team has had four hits.
- 1:26:15Frank Robinson was out on strikes in the seventh, doubled and later scored in the fifth,
- 1:26:22and was robbed of a hit on a great play by Henderson his first time up.
- 1:26:28Now the stretch, the pitch on the way, long, and he missed and he had a cut.
- 1:26:35Door tight, bottom of the ninth.
- 1:26:38The winning run at first, two outs, Frank Robinson the hitter.
- 1:26:44Jim Cotter's ready.
- 1:26:47Now the pitch, close to first to runner back.
- 1:26:56Bobby Valentine with the next.
- 1:27:02One strike and up it.
- 1:27:05The pitch, a bouncing ball to melt.
- 1:27:08There's the throw to first.
- 1:27:10In time that requires a side.
- 1:27:13No extra innings, no runs, one hit, no errors, one left.
- 1:27:16At the end of nine, tied up, two, two.
- 1:27:23Quincy Jackson has hit two home runs for Oakland tonight,
- 1:27:26and now Gene Pemis does it, his second home run of the game.
- 1:27:30He's in his 50s and 60s.
- 1:27:33Jackson has hit his 18s and 19s.
- 1:27:38Here's Bill Melton to lead it off as we go into the tenth inning.
- 1:27:42Boy, Cotts would have outpitched Ryan 2-1 in this game,
- 1:27:46but with that error, here's Melton.
- 1:27:50Foul set up on the infield.
- 1:27:53There's Jason Oliver there.
- 1:27:56Hey, almost dropped the ball but made the cut.
- 1:28:00There's the case, Melton's not running.
- 1:28:03If Oliver drops the ball, Melton barely gets the first base
- 1:28:07instead of standing on second.
- 1:28:10Here's Bill Sharp, one out.
- 1:28:22He's on for three.
- 1:28:24The pitch, fastball high.
- 1:28:28One ball, no strike.
- 1:28:35Nolan Ryan delivers life foul out of play.
- 1:28:41Ryan has only spanned five men, six men make it.
- 1:28:46Which for him is a bad night.
- 1:28:50White Dock's got the runs on one swing of Bill Melton's side
- 1:28:53with a man on the second.
- 1:28:55And then shut out, good.
- 1:28:58Now the pitch, German side.
- 1:29:02White Dock, if that only four hits, the Angels have had only four.
- 1:29:13There's a pitch foul back.
- 1:29:17And the count evened up, two balls, two strikes, one out.
- 1:29:23Better than 10,000 paid.
- 1:29:31They're on the final day of the month.
- 1:29:35The month of July has been out of it.
- 1:29:39Fast, get out of play.
- 1:29:45That's a seven strikeout.
- 1:29:49Here's Ed Herman.
- 1:29:52He's on for three.
- 1:30:05White Dock, right in this thing until the all-star break.
- 1:30:13Got a pitch, long and even.
- 1:30:22White Dock enters the month of June at 536-36.
- 1:30:27They're with three games up.
- 1:30:32Now the pitcher knows the drive, way back.
- 1:30:34It might be out of here.
- 1:30:36Near the wall it could be.
- 1:30:38There's a home run for Herman.
- 1:30:41Into the White Dock, Bullpen, a little bit of a soft man.
- 1:30:45The soft booster.
- 1:30:51And Herman, long and one over the right field wall into the Bullpen.
- 1:30:57Leroy Stann once on the screen and leaps high into the air.
- 1:31:02Couldn't reach the ball.
- 1:31:08He did two and play for the White Dock.
- 1:31:11That's Herman's first home run since July 5th when he hit two.
- 1:31:15Here's a pitch, a strikeout.
- 1:31:16That was in Detroit, you recall.
- 1:31:20Here's Buckie Dandy's one out of three.
- 1:31:24Now the pitch slung on a high-pop file back.
- 1:31:27Boy, Ryan had two men out, nobody on.
- 1:31:30White Herman got a hold of a fastball and lost it over the right field screen.
- 1:31:36The White Dock, Bullpen.
- 1:31:40Two strikes and up he.
- 1:31:44Now the pitch, here it is.
- 1:31:47There's a line shot to center coming on Mickey Rivers at the base hit.
