Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
• 0:30
So often we on this podcast we talk about our focus and we talk
• 0:35
about how important focus is. But the real reason for that,
• 0:39
the real end all be all of why we do that is because we have to
• 0:44
control our focus and we have to know that what we focus on
• 0:48
brings about more of it in our lives.
• 0:51
So when you keep talk, when you keep focusing on what's wrong
• 0:56
and you keep talking about what's wrong, you keep
• 0:59
manifesting what's wrong because it just gives it more energy and
• 1:03
it exacerbates it. And it just keeps getting bigger
• 1:06
and bigger and bigger. You know, years ago, I was
• 1:10
working on the road and somebody left a book at a table.
• 1:14
And I thought this book was so fascinating because the name of
• 1:17
it was How to Improve Your Marriage without talking about
• 1:20
it. I mean, doesn't that just sound
• 1:21
like the most amazing thing to read?
• 1:23
Like, OK, we're not going to talk about it yet.
• 1:25
It's going to get better. Well, when I got the book and I
• 1:27
actually read it, I was like this, This is brilliant because
• 1:31
it takes away so much of the negativity.
• 1:34
And that's often what happens when you're in these situations.
• 1:38
You're coming at it from your position.
• 1:40
You want to defend your position.
• 1:42
So naturally, because you want to protect your position and
• 1:46
defend it, you keep talking about what's wrong and it keeps
• 1:49
going over and over and over. Well, the problem with talking
• 1:52
about what's wrong is that it grows bigger and bigger and
• 1:55
bigger. This is a big reason why
• 1:57
marriage counseling rarely works because you go and you drive and
• 2:00
you spend an hour talking about the problem and you you leave
• 2:04
with a solid solution, but you clearly know what you don't like
• 2:07
in the other person and in the situation that's there.
• 2:10
And then you leave and you're sent home alone together.
• 2:13
And so we all know the statistics on does marriage
• 2:16
counseling work and they're really not great.
• 2:19
So this core message is from that.
• 2:22
This core message is, hey, listen, when you talk about
• 2:25
what's wrong, you manifest what's really wrong even more.
• 2:29
And you're the sad part of this is you're missing the real
• 2:33
message in it all because when things show up and they're not
• 2:36
good, they are meant to give you information.
• 2:39
And you have to decide what you're going to do with that
• 2:41
information. Are you going to utilize it to
• 2:44
help yourself move forward or are you going to keep it the way
• 2:47
that it is so that you can defend your position, make sure
• 2:51
you're right, argue with the other person and 'cause even
• 2:54
more issues. I mean that that is in a
• 2:58
nutshell, the most important part of this podcast today.
• 3:03
You have to make a decision if it's important to defend your
• 3:06
position or is it important to move forward?
• 3:09
Is it important to find happiness?
• 3:11
Is it important to focus on the message of what's wrong so you
• 3:16
know what to repair, fix, look at, explore whatever words you
• 3:21
want to use, but not sit there and keep focused on it from a
• 3:26
position of really trying to stack, stack, stack, stack,
• 3:30
stack all the stuff that's wrong because that's not going to help
• 3:33
you. You already know what's wrong.
• 3:34
You don't need more evidence of it.
• 3:36
And that's all it is. Remember, emotions are here to
• 3:39
give us information and the more information we have, the more we
• 3:42
can do with it. So this comes down to you being
• 3:45
very smart, very clear and very honest with yourself about what
• 3:50
you're going to focus on. So you'd understand, hey, I am
• 3:54
not going to keep talking about what's wrong.
• 3:57
I'm not going to keep going it over it and over it and over it
• 3:59
and over it in my head. The more I talk about it, the
• 4:02
more I give it life. The more I talk about it, the
• 4:05
more this becomes a big thing. The more I see this, the more it
• 4:10
grows. That is what's so important
• 4:13
about this. It's that you're killing the
• 4:15
monster while it's small. Don't let it take over in your
• 4:18
head. Don't let those things to eat
• 4:20
you up. And if you're not qualified in
• 4:22
those moments to, to just say, OK, I can discern what it's
• 4:25
trying to give me for information, then you simply say
• 4:28
to yourself, OK, right now I'm too heated, I'm too irritated.
• 4:32
  I can't make a judgement on this.
• 4:34
So I'm going to put it aside. I'm going to put this in neutral
• 4:37
for right now and I'm going to come back to it when I am in a
• 4:40
better state of mind because I'm not qualified to make a decision
• 4:44
about it right now. And that to me is the most
• 4:47
powerful thing that we can do is putting it in that perspective.
• 4:52
So I hope that that makes sense to you guys.
• 4:55
I hope you utilize this and I hope you have an incredibly
• 4:58
blessed day that is giving you information and you're letting
• 5:02
go of the irritation. All right, my friends have a
• 5:05
great one. I'll talk to you tomorrow.
• 5:06
  Bye.
