- 0:18Join Kim every morning from one of her favorite happy places,
- 0:21her chicken coop along with all her chickens.
- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from my studio, not the chicken coop.
- 0:33So we are changing things up a little bit because we have a
- 0:36challenge with a fox at the chicken coop and we are waiting
- 0:40for someone to come and relocate, said Fox.
- 0:45So normally if it was dark, I would go out and I would open
- 0:49the doors and I would record anyway, but the chickens would
- 0:53be able to come out when they were ever that we're ready.
- 0:55And now I'm keeping them locked up a little bit longer.
- 0:58So the sunlight effects this fox, even though it came out the
- 1:02other day right in bright sunlight.
- 1:05And we had another incident and we lost Winnie, which I know all
- 1:10of you know how much she means to me.
- 1:12And it's getting very frustrating.
- 1:16So we are, we've hired A trapper and we are waiting for the
- 1:20trapper. Apparently there are tons of
- 1:22foxes that need to be relocated right now.
- 1:26So we're on a list. Hopefully she's going to get to
- 1:30us this weekend and we will be able to take care of this rehome
- 1:34this fox and we will not have to keep the chickens locked up.
- 1:39But in any event, today what we are talking about is the fact
- 1:43that I put up a post the other day on Facebook about my
- 1:47progress with Fitbit in the past year and I had done over 5
- 1:51million stops. Now I don't see that every day.
- 1:53I want to be Full disclosure, I only look at that once a year as
- 1:56a surprise to myself. And you can only see that little
- 1:59tidbit of information When you log into the Fitbit app and you
- 2:04on on the computer and you go into fitbit.com and you look at
- 2:07your progress and there's this little wheel and you can click
- 2:09on the little wheel and then you can see all your past progress,
- 2:12years ever since you've had an account.
- 2:15So me being the certainty girl that I am, I like to keep track
- 2:19of those things. So typically every January I
- 2:21pull up my numbers from the previous year and I'm like, you
- 2:25know, oh holy cow, wow, that was cool.
- 2:28And the numbers continue to grow, which makes me very happy.
- 2:32And it pushes me to compete against myself because I don't
- 2:36believe in competing against anybody else.
- 2:37I'm competing against myself. And am I doing better than I was
- 2:40before? Yes.
- 2:41Great. Perfect.
- 2:43I don't need to know what other people are doing.
- 2:44I can stay in my own little bubble.
- 2:46So I put this post up and I get all kinds of messages being sent
- 2:51to me, nice ones through Facebook and the public one,
- 2:55which was nice. And then I get some private ones
- 2:57and people are making comments about how they could never do
- 3:02that or how the hell did you do that?
- 3:05That is absurd and ridiculous. And I'm not disagreeing that.
- 3:09It's not a lot of steps. It's a lot of steps.
- 3:12But the reason I'm bringing this up to everybody is when I put
- 3:16the post up, I legitimately said it is one step at a time.
- 3:20And it is. And sometimes, you know, one of
- 3:23these people that I ended up speaking to about it, I made the
- 3:26comment that like OK, yeah, it's one step at a time.
- 3:28But you know real progress typically is made with leaps.
- 3:32And I'm like that is not a lie. Real progress is not one thing
- 3:37or another. Real progress is consistency.
- 3:41It's all about taking the path and making a decision that there
- 3:46is this is non negotiable. For me, this walking is non
- 3:51negotiable. It's the way I stay healthy.
- 3:52It's the way my body feels good and that's an indicator.
- 3:56My body feels really, really good when I walk a lot so I keep
- 4:00doing it. It's an indicator.
- 4:02But when someone says you have to take massive action or giant
- 4:06leaps, is that part of progress? Possibly not for everybody, but
- 4:11possibly it is for me. I have had parts where I've
- 4:15taken big leaps. Launching that new website,
- 4:17doing programs. Those are those are are leaps.
- 4:20However, they are coupled with consistent one step at a time
- 4:26progress. You can't take Quantum leap and
- 4:28then go on vacation. You can't take a a small leap
- 4:31and go on vacation. You have to consistently do
- 4:34things. Consistency is the name of the
- 4:36game and that outcome was one step at a time, one step at a
- 4:41time. And maybe while I was on that,
- 4:44those paths walking. Did I speed walk?
- 4:47Sure. Did I jump over something?
- 4:49I can assure you I jumped over puddles a lot because we have
- 4:52lots of rain and I'm always leaping over things.
- 4:56But that doesn't mean it's it's such an excellent metaphor, but
- 5:00it doesn't mean that I didn't have a non negotiable outcome in
- 5:04mind. And that's what you have to
- 5:06remember. Whatever you are working on, you
- 5:09have to have a non negotiable outcome in that head of yours.
- 5:13You have to say no, this outcome is non negotiable.
- 5:16How I get there? Negotiable, yes, but consistency
- 5:21is part of it. So you might change your
- 5:23tactics. You might say, hey I want to add
- 5:26to my database, I want to end up with 100 new clients by the end
- 5:29of the year. OK great.
- 5:31How you get there with those hundred clients is negotiable
- 5:34about the fact that OK, I want to be able to try some direct,
- 5:38you know contact, some want to do social media, some I want to
- 5:41do postcards this time I want to do whatever that may be.
- 5:44Those are all options and you can do that.
- 5:48But getting the 100 clients non negotiable, consistent progress,
- 5:52doing it non negotiable. So you've got to keep moving.
- 5:55You've got to keep doing it. And this is such a great
- 5:58metaphor and rather than looking at the progress and saying, oh,
- 6:02I could never do that, you have to look at the progress and go,
- 6:05OK, this is absolutely inspiring.
- 6:08I want to be able to do that. If she can do it, I can do it.
- 6:11And I can assure you if I can do it, anybody can do it.
- 6:14But we have such habits of, again, this is such a great
- 6:17metaphor of having the steps of just sitting at our desk and
- 6:20doing nothing except working on the computer, that our entire
- 6:24worlds have become in cyberspace and we have to recognize that we
- 6:29have to get up and move. Our bodies are meant to move.
- 6:32If our bodies are falling apart, it's because we don't move
- 6:35enough. So we have to get up and
- 6:38literally move your ass. There you go.
- 6:40It's out there. And whether it's consistency in
- 6:43patterns, whether it's actually moving your body, whatever it
- 6:47is, make it a non negotiable and do it.
- 6:50OK my friends, I'll see you tomorrow.
- 6:52Have a blessed day. Bye.
