- 0:29I Hate Talking: Welcome to episode 34 of I Hate Talking.
- 0:32I Hate Talking: Hi everyone.
- 0:33I Hate Talking: So we're pleased to announce that there is a new podcast coming out.
- 0:39I Hate Talking: Woohoo.
- 0:41I Hate Talking: And it is not done by us, but it will be done under the auspices of, I hate talking.
- 0:48I Hate Talking: Oh, I hope that's our word for the day, cause I don't know that word.
- 0:52I Hate Talking: But yes, we are overseeing it.
- 0:56I Hate Talking: And occasionally guest starring in it.
- 1:00I Hate Talking: And it is by the most adorable little podcaster.
- 1:05I Hate Talking: And he goes by the nickname Dark A, and we'll be talking about nature facts.
- 1:11I Hate Talking: Yes, he has always been about science from the youngest age, he was the only way we could get him to stop crying as a newborn, like a baby baby, was playing this song about the solar system.
- 1:29I Hate Talking: It was the only thing we could do to get him calm.
- 1:32I Hate Talking: And by his 3rd birthday, he knew.
- 1:36I Hate Talking: Everything there was, it seems like, about the solar system.
- 1:40I Hate Talking: Uh, he could teach adults things.
- 1:43I Hate Talking: Now he's veered to space, he's veered towards dinosaurs and animals.
- 1:50I Hate Talking: Right now, his passion is geography, so he definitely is a science guy, and he wants to share all his nature facts about science with us.
- 2:03I Hate Talking: And the show is aptly called Nature Facts with Dark A.
- 2:07I Hate Talking: Yeah, so you can find it wherever you find podcasts.
- 2:11I Hate Talking: Look it up.
- 2:12I Hate Talking: It, they're very short episodes, and it is literally a small child teaching us about nature facts.
- 2:20I Hate Talking: And we plan to have episodes drop every Friday and like my co-host said, relatively short episodes.
- 2:30I Hate Talking: So just little snippets of nature facts that you can enjoy on your Friday morning.
- 2:36I Hate Talking: And I will also put in just a little caveat that we don't necessarily fact check him.
- 2:42I Hate Talking: But any time in the past, I have fact-checked about anything, he is right.
- 2:47I Hate Talking: He reads, he checks out books from the library all the time on science.
- 2:52I Hate Talking: Any time he says something and I look it up, I'm like, oh, you were correct.
- 2:57I Hate Talking: So we are not, at least at this point, fact checking him, but I actually would take His facts serious with a grain of salt.
- 3:07I Hate Talking: Exactly.
- 3:08I Hate Talking: So small children sharing facts, and now you have some large children sharing facts that may or may not be accurate, -- but -- they are here we are, sure we're kids too.
- 3:20I Hate Talking: And at heart.
- 3:22I Hate Talking: Yeah, share the podcast with your family, and if you know, uh kids, especially would probably enjoy listening to other kids talk about science, I think that'd be super helpful.
- 3:33I Hate Talking: So we will put a link to the show in the show notes so that you can find it more easily, and then we will move on to our word of the episode on this podcast, I Hate Talking, which is the word auspices.
- 3:48I Hate Talking: Yes, I don't know that word.
- 3:50I Hate Talking: I'm excited to learn it.
- 3:51I Hate Talking: So you were correct in sort of the guess in terms of oversight as sort of giving a definition of that word in the modern context, usually will be used in the phrase under the auspices of, and that is like the phrase that is used that contains that word and you probably won't really hear it too frequently used apart from that phrase.
- 4:17I Hate Talking: Yes, OK, side note, I'm pretty sure I've heard that phrase you just said.
- 4:21I Hate Talking: I always thought they said under the office of, is that true or is that a completely separate thing I'm hearing?
- 4:29I Hate Talking: I think you're just making up a word that may be one that's in your Vocabulary vocabulary that is not at all what they're saying.
- 4:41I Hate Talking: OK.
- 4:42I Hate Talking: All right, go on then.
- 4:43I Hate Talking: So under the Ostrich Um, what was it?
- 4:49I Hate Talking: Now, we're not talking about flightless birds.
- 4:51I Hate Talking: It's not the ostrich or emu or penguin or dodo bird.
- 4:54I Hate Talking: It is auspices, auspices.
- 4:59I Hate Talking: Yes, and the spelling is A U S T I C E S Auspices.
- 5:06I Hate Talking: So it means that it has.
- 5:10I Hate Talking: The frame of reference of patronage, support, or sponsorship.
- 5:15I Hate Talking: So basically the authority.
- 5:18I Hate Talking: Of some office or person giving this other party.
- 5:25I Hate Talking: Some sort of power or authority to do something under their name or sponsorship is essentially what it means.
- 5:34I Hate Talking: Right, OK, have you heard the phrase under the office of?
- 5:39I Hate Talking: No, I don't think I have.
- 5:40I Hate Talking: Are they always saying under the ostrich of auspices auspices.
- 5:48I Hate Talking: Oh no, I can't get that word.
- 5:51I Hate Talking: Under the auspices.
- 5:53I Hate Talking: Is that a phrase you've heard?
- 5:54I Hate Talking: Yes, that's the only phrase that I've heard.
- 5:57I Hate Talking: So, I think I've always heard this then and since I don't know the word auspices.
- 6:05I Hate Talking: I've always thought they say office of, like, under the office of president or under the office of pastor or whatever.
- 6:15I Hate Talking: My brain must have always equated that cause that's the word I know.
- 6:20I Hate Talking: Now it is interesting that when you Google this that I think maybe even the AI is getting confused because they are perhaps reading some incorrect things from.
- 6:31I Hate Talking: The world of all things text that they are trained upon.
- 6:36I Hate Talking: Because that does actually say that under the office of is a phrase that means reporting to or being subordinate to a specific office or position within an organization.
- 6:46I Hate Talking: Man, I should work for AI.
- 6:48I Hate Talking: Uh, you might do a better job.
- 6:50I Hate Talking: But when you just Google under the office of, it does come up with some things of.
- 6:58I Hate Talking: Not necessarily that idea, but.
- 7:02I Hate Talking: Office of Undersecretaries.
- 7:05I Hate Talking: So, the actual title being Under in.
- 7:10I Hate Talking: The title of that person.
- 7:12I Hate Talking: OK.
- 7:13I Hate Talking: His auspices come up in that whole thing?
- 7:17I Hate Talking: Yes, if you Google under the auspices of you get tons of results, and that is one of the things that we'll be talking about because the etymology of this particular word is actually quite interesting.
- 7:26I Hate Talking: Hey, teach me.
- 7:28I Hate Talking: So, like I mentioned, in the modern usage, auspices does mean patronage, support, sponsorship under the authority of some higher office.
- 7:38I Hate Talking: And that will typically only be used at least in things that I've heard and read.
- 7:45I Hate Talking: In the phrase under the auspices of.
- 7:48I Hate Talking: But the original word comes from the Latin.
- 7:55I Hate Talking: From the word aspects, which means observer of birds.
- 8:01I Hate Talking: And -- like -- an ostrich, what?
- 8:04I Hate Talking: So I do not believe that the etymology in any way relates to the actual word ostrich, but it comes from.
- 8:13I Hate Talking: Even further up in the etymology history of the word Avis, which is Latin for bird, and specter, which is Latin to look, and those were put together and made into the Latin word aspects.
- 8:30I Hate Talking: And then came to be used as auspice um and then auspices in the modern day English.
- 8:37I Hate Talking: Wow.
- 8:39I Hate Talking: Now the reason that this is interesting is because.
- 8:43I Hate Talking: Why would sponsorship or authority being delegated have anything to do with birds?
- 8:51I Hate Talking: Because We're watching them.
- 8:55I Hate Talking: I don't know why.
- 8:58I Hate Talking: So the reason that these people were observers of birds or literally bird watchers was because that they were looking for a divine or prophetic token.
- 9:11I Hate Talking: So they were essentially watching for omens in the flight of birds hoping for some sort of divine message.
- 9:20I Hate Talking: Either one of favorability or approval or support.
- 9:24I Hate Talking: OK, so they're not under the authority of something.
- 9:28I Hate Talking: They are looking to like a higher power for favor.
- 9:32I Hate Talking: Precisely.
- 9:34I Hate Talking: OK.
- 9:35I Hate Talking: So that is very different.
- 9:37I Hate Talking: I'm thinking of it as like, under the authority of like somebody, oh, I guess not.
- 9:42I Hate Talking: So, cause I'm thinking about it, like, there's somebody and these are their subordinates.
- 9:48I Hate Talking: But it still is, right?
- 9:50I Hate Talking: Like they are still looking for approval by a higher power.
- 9:56I Hate Talking: Precisely, and it's not the bird that is the higher power in this particular context, but the divine being that is communicating through the birds.
- 10:10I Hate Talking: So as you look at this usage of the word with bird watchers looking for omens in Latin times and being used in the English language in the 1400s, 1500s.
- 10:26I Hate Talking: Up into the mid 1600s as any indication of future events.
- 10:32I Hate Talking: Especially favorable.
- 10:34I Hate Talking: So around the 1630s to 1650s, it extended the meaning of the word to give the sense of benevolent influence of a greater power, influence exerted on behalf of someone or something.
- 10:49I Hate Talking: So basically the birdwatchers were looking for favorable approval or quote unquote sponsorship from this divine being and now hospices means that there is a higher person.
- 11:04I Hate Talking: Giving their authority to a particular person of which they are delegating that particular authority or sponsorship.
- 11:13I Hate Talking: OK.
- 11:13I Hate Talking: So that is both our announcement that I Hate Talking has a new podcast that is not really ours but is under the auspices of I Hate Talking, Nature Facts with Dark A, as well as our word or phrase of the episode, auspices.
- 11:32I Hate Talking: OK, so, just working this out one more time because I am a verbal processor.
- 11:39I Hate Talking: So Nature Facts with Dark Day is under our auspices because we oversee his podcast and he cannot physically create one without us helping him.
- 11:57I Hate Talking: And there's also the aspect of sponsorship, which is in the definition of auspices because we are in fact paying for that podcast to be produced and hosted.
- 12:07I Hate Talking: Yes, we're sponsoring him.
- 12:09I Hate Talking: Financially and otherwise.
- 12:12I Hate Talking: OK.
- 12:13I Hate Talking: And if you're wondering, I hate Talking does not currently have any sponsorships.
- 12:18I Hate Talking: So if you would like to advertise or sponsor this podcast, please reach out to us and let us know.
- 12:24I Hate Talking: Yeah, we'd love that.
- 12:25I Hate Talking: That would be amazing.
- 12:27I Hate Talking: Just picture your advertisement right here, right now.
- 12:31I Hate Talking: I don't know if you'd picture it.
- 12:33I Hate Talking: Or would you -- Hear it in your -- mind.
- 12:38I Hate Talking: You would hear it, and then you would picture it in your brain.
- 12:43I Hate Talking: I suppose so.
- 12:45I Hate Talking: Do you picture?
- 12:46I Hate Talking: Sounds in your mind?
- 12:48I Hate Talking: Oh yes.
- 12:49I Hate Talking: I don't think you would picture them though, when you, I don't know if there is a word for like.
- 12:56I Hate Talking: Listening aspect per se of picturing something in your mind and you are theorizing in your mind how something sounds.
- 13:06I Hate Talking: So, there's a brain thing with that.
- 13:09I Hate Talking: I don't know.
- 13:09I Hate Talking: It's not a normal thing.
- 13:11I Hate Talking: I'm looking at what it is called, like, The number 13 is purple.
- 13:16I Hate Talking: Yeah, what?
- 13:17I Hate Talking: like.
- 13:18I Hate Talking: M is blue.
- 13:20I Hate Talking: The word M is the letter M is blue, 13's purple.
- 13:25I Hate Talking: What are you talking about, you know?
- 13:26I Hate Talking: But it's like some brain thing that they Picture it in their head, and that's how it connects, and it's actually like a genius theme.
- 13:34I Hate Talking: I was gonna say like, hey, just like that.
- 13:36I Hate Talking: I can't find what it's called.
- 13:38I Hate Talking: Maybe we'll have to do some research on this particular topic because it sounds like we are very ill prepared to talk about that in the remainder of this episode, -- but perhaps -- a future we can cut this out then and talk about it another time.
- 13:50I Hate Talking: Or you can tease it because this would be like a teaser for the upcoming episode on the phrase that we don't even know what it's called.
- 13:58I Hate Talking: It might be called this synesia.
- 14:02I Hate Talking: I don't even, why won't even load?
- 14:04I Hate Talking: Right, cause you didn't picture it in your mind, so AI didn't know what you're looking for.
- 14:10I Hate Talking: Yeah, I think that's it, right?
- 14:13I Hate Talking: It's like 3 is apricot.
- 14:15I Hate Talking: OK, well, our little podcast host, Nature Facts, which are gay, actually has undiagnosed.
- 14:25I Hate Talking: Synethia Syneesia, even at a young age, he would be like, The number 2 is the color purple.
- 14:35I Hate Talking: Like what are you talking about?
- 14:37I Hate Talking: You big or the letter O is lavender.
- 14:42I Hate Talking: And talking to other people and stuff, there's an actual thought process, and we'll talk about this later.
- 14:52I Hate Talking: We'll research it more maybe if people are interested and we can figure it out.
- 14:55I Hate Talking: He sees the world in colors like that.
- 14:59I Hate Talking: And at a very young age, was really good at math because he saw them not as numbers, but as colors.
- 15:08I Hate Talking: So as you're saying this, it's perfect because we're talking about this little podcaster that loves science and sharing information with the world, and he does see pictures in his head when you're talking to him.
- 15:24I Hate Talking: Well, there you go.
- 15:25I Hate Talking: I wonder what color somebody's ad would be on our podcast.
- 15:30I Hate Talking: I, I instantly thought green.
- 15:33I Hate Talking: I don't know why.
- 15:34I Hate Talking: Is that because it's money?
- 15:35I Hate Talking: Is that?
- 15:35I Hate Talking: Or it's my favorite color.
- 15:37I Hate Talking: My favorite color is green.
- 15:39I Hate Talking: I'm not sure.
- 15:40I Hate Talking: I pictured purple because that is the color of all our iconography, as well as our podcasting, studio equipment and software.
- 15:50I Hate Talking: It's not your favorite color, right?
- 15:52I Hate Talking: But you've actually always been interested in the color purple.
- 15:55I Hate Talking: Your drink you're holding right now is purple.
- 15:58I Hate Talking: It is.
- 15:59I Hate Talking: OK, let's talk about that.
- 16:01I Hate Talking: Where does your deep love for this color come from?
- 16:05I Hate Talking: I don't know if I as a child had deep love for colors.
- 16:10I Hate Talking: Uh, I was actually as a child.
- 16:13I Hate Talking: Enjoyed Telling people that my favorite color was gray when they would ask what my favorite color is and the typical, you know, getting to know a little child, what's your favorite color?
- 16:24I Hate Talking: What's your favorite animal, blah blah blah.
- 16:26I Hate Talking: So it's a random color.
- 16:27I Hate Talking: And I think I did it in part because it was so not normal.
- 16:32I Hate Talking: That people would be sort of thrown off that my favorite color was great, but it also was.
- 16:38I Hate Talking: One of my favorite colors and a lot of my current dress as well as in my childhood, especially, was very colorless and a lot of grays and blacks and so on and so forth.
- 16:53I Hate Talking: Mhm.
- 16:54I Hate Talking: Yeah, and still to this day, we always tell people your favorite color is gray, and just Interesting to watch their reaction cause it's not a typical color people gravitate towards.
- 17:07I Hate Talking: And then there was probably sometime in my early teen years that something switched and.
- 17:15I Hate Talking: I did enjoy other colors and especially wearing other colors, a lot of bright old oranges, maybe some reds.
- 17:25I Hate Talking: Uh, we're in there, not so much purples or anything in that color spectrum, but definitely a lot of orange, also sort of like maybe the neon green.
- 17:37I Hate Talking: Do you remember that when we were newlyweds or before we got married, we were making our registry.
- 17:43I Hate Talking: I don't know, people don't seem to do that too much anymore.
- 17:46I Hate Talking: We made a registry for like people that were coming to our wedding could buy items we need to start our new home.
- 17:55I Hate Talking: And then I remember you wanted a purple bedspread.
- 17:59I Hate Talking: And I was like, how come?
- 18:00I Hate Talking: You're like, it's cause it's royal.
- 18:02I Hate Talking: Like, it's, you'd be like kings and queens.
- 18:05I Hate Talking: Do you remember that?
- 18:06I Hate Talking: I do.
- 18:07I Hate Talking: I think we -- did -- get like -- a -- it was for the guest bed.
- 18:11I Hate Talking: I was for the guest bed.
- 18:12I Hate Talking: I made us get white for our bed.
- 18:14I Hate Talking: We had a like a black one, yeah, -- it was doubled and then we -- still have it, yeah.
- 18:18I Hate Talking: Our guest bed still has it.
- 18:21I Hate Talking: It's double sided.
- 18:22I Hate Talking: You can have black or purple.
- 18:24I Hate Talking: And I like, I mean, purple is fine color, but I just like them for aesthetic, the white, browns, very neutral colors, very boring, I understand.
- 18:36I Hate Talking: And then our sheets are purple.
- 18:39I Hate Talking: They are, because our bed is a purple bed.
- 18:43I Hate Talking: So, a little bit of like, I think that's probably the only color.
- 18:46I Hate Talking: I don't know if you can get other colored sheets from purple.
- 18:48I Hate Talking: From the company purple.
- 18:51I Hate Talking: Yes, cause we have other sheets for the bed too.
- 18:54I Hate Talking: Y'all can look up.
- 18:57I Hate Talking: Uh, purple bed.
- 18:59I Hate Talking: That can be a podcast in the future.
- 19:02I Hate Talking: Adam had severe back pain for years, until we got this special bed.
- 19:08I Hate Talking: And it was within weeks, right?
- 19:12I Hate Talking: Less than maybe a month?
- 19:13I Hate Talking: Your back pain was gone or significantly gone.
- 19:19I Hate Talking: True.
- 19:20I Hate Talking: Yes, there was a lot of other strategies that was in play for trying to reduce and eliminate my back pain, but I do believe the purple bed was a big contributor to the elimination of my back issues in that time frame.
- 19:35I Hate Talking: And, you know, maybe who knows, maybe purple will sponsor us.
- 19:39I Hate Talking: Yeah, we still use it.
- 19:40I Hate Talking: It's a good bed.
- 19:41I Hate Talking: But OK, why do you think, going back to the colors that we like, Why do you think green is my favorite color?
- 19:48I Hate Talking: You, I don't know if I've ever asked you if you know why.
- 19:51I Hate Talking: There's a specific reason.
- 19:53I Hate Talking: Now, I don't know if I know the specific reason.
- 19:56I Hate Talking: It is interesting to note that uh the human eye can detect a wider range of shades of green.
- 20:05I Hate Talking: I think this was alluded to or maybe even explicitly stated in an episode of Fargo where that has to do with the fact that humans are prey animals and they therefore need to see a higher degree.
- 20:21I Hate Talking: Of green colors in order to detect predators within an environment that has plants based on the chlorophyll process that will typically result in an abundance of green plants.
- 20:35I Hate Talking: So do you think green is my favorite color because of my eyesight?
- 20:40I Hate Talking: I do not, but I just thought that was an interesting anecdote to throw in there.
- 20:44I Hate Talking: That is super interesting.
- 20:45I Hate Talking: Also, last week I went to the eye doctor again and Yeah, my eye prescription once again and It was pretty embarrassing when he was like, yeah, this is ridiculous what you're on.
- 20:57I Hate Talking: Like, we got up this significantly, which we knew I had been about a year and a half since I'd been.
- 21:03I Hate Talking: We knew my eyesight had gone worse, but It is not because of It's not because of being safe from predators.
- 21:14I Hate Talking: No, I'm not too worried about that.
- 21:17I Hate Talking: We're um in my little home here.
- 21:20I Hate Talking: It's been my favorite color since I can remember, though, do you know what color would be my second or pretty much probably my true favorite color?
- 21:31I Hate Talking: I would say purple.
- 21:33I Hate Talking: Yeah, -- so I definitely gravitate towards -- you're wearing a purple sweater right now.
- 21:37I Hate Talking: I definitely gravitate towards purple or a pinkish, not the bright neon pink.
- 21:44I Hate Talking: The lavender pinkish colors, purple colors.
- 21:49I Hate Talking: I um, I Probably feel like they're more actually my favorite.
- 21:54I Hate Talking: But ever since I can remember.
- 21:57I Hate Talking: Green has been my favorite color, and it's because my grandma, my favorite person in the whole world, aside from you.
- 22:05I Hate Talking: Her favorite color is green.
- 22:07I Hate Talking: And I can't think of anyone I want to be more like than my grandmother.
- 22:15I Hate Talking: And I think Because of that, I made green be my favorite color.
- 22:21I Hate Talking: Her house was green.
- 22:22I Hate Talking: She literally painted the exterior of her house bright green.
- 22:26I Hate Talking: It was shocking when you drove by it.
- 22:30I Hate Talking: Green was just everywhere in her home.
- 22:33I Hate Talking: And I think because I want to be her so much, even at a young age.
- 22:38I Hate Talking: I said green is my favorite color.
- 22:41I Hate Talking: And I find myself, even today as an adult, I cannot not say green is my favorite color, cause I think of her every time I say green is my favorite color.
- 22:52I Hate Talking: And who knows, maybe somewhere deep in my psyche in a early childhood memory that there was somebody that I looked up to and their favorite color was gray or in some form or fashion indicated the importance of the color gray that made me like that color as well.
- 23:12I Hate Talking: Maybe.
- 23:12I Hate Talking: So that would be super interesting to hear from any of y'all, if you have a favorite color, if you know why or Even if you don't know why, let us know what your favorite color is, because our children have specific colors.
- 23:28I Hate Talking: They don't change.
- 23:29I Hate Talking: Our 11 kid changes slightly, like yellow and green, which are similar hues.
- 23:36I Hate Talking: But all of them.
- 23:39I Hate Talking: Have been like from birth, like a child, gravitating towards a very specific color which makes our lives easy.
- 23:47I Hate Talking: Because everything that's red belongs to him.
- 23:51I Hate Talking: Everything that's blue belongs to that one.
- 23:53I Hate Talking: And it is very separate.
- 23:55I Hate Talking: I wonder why they gravitate at such a young age.
- 24:01I Hate Talking: I don't feel like we did anything different, but maybe we did, or maybe someone in their lives influenced us that we don't know.
- 24:08I Hate Talking: Or perhaps it's that emphasis of individuality that plays a part in that as well because that was part of the reason that I claimed gray as my favorite color was to stand out among my peers.
- 24:22I Hate Talking: And likewise, it is interesting to note that of our four kids that none of them are the same color and that they in some form or fashion seem to have claimed their color in a different color scheme from any of the other brothers.
- 24:38I Hate Talking: That's true, cause they want to stand out.
- 24:41I Hate Talking: Is this going back to when we talked about how subconsciously, I'm trying to fit in with people, is subconsciously, I want to be my grandmother.
- 24:49I Hate Talking: So I want to like what she likes.
- 24:52I Hate Talking: Where you don't want to be like people, so you like gray cause your average person doesn't like gray.
- 24:59I Hate Talking: I don't like that.
- 25:01I Hate Talking: I want to fit in so much.
- 25:03I Hate Talking: I don't want to be so adaptable, but also, side note, everyone in the world should know my grandmother because she was an amazing person.
- 25:15I Hate Talking: So that may play a part in it.
- 25:17I Hate Talking: However, you'll maybe be happy to know that green is not the most common favorite color.
- 25:23I Hate Talking: Is it?
- 25:24I Hate Talking: Can I guess?
- 25:25I Hate Talking: Don't tell me.
- 25:25I Hate Talking: Is it blue?
- 25:26I Hate Talking: -- It is -- blue.
- 25:27I Hate Talking: OK, I had my college roommate.
- 25:30I Hate Talking: I remember we all chatted about this at one point, and she said blue was her favorite color because there was no ugly shade of blue.
- 25:37I Hate Talking: And I loved that.
- 25:39I Hate Talking: It's true.
- 25:40I Hate Talking: My answer was, I don't know, I like green, cause my grandma liked green.
- 25:43I Hate Talking: But there are really ugly shades of green.
- 25:46I Hate Talking: I loved her thought process that there's no ugly shade of blue.
- 25:52I Hate Talking: And that is some of the popular theories on why blue is the most popular favorite color is that it is typically associated with universal experiences like clear skies and clean water, and so to your point, there is no ugly blue color and is actually associated with cleanliness.
- 26:13I Hate Talking: And good experience.
- 26:15I Hate Talking: What is the most hated color?
- 26:17I Hate Talking: You figure that out.
- 26:19I Hate Talking: What would your guess be?
- 26:20I Hate Talking: What is the most disliked color?
- 26:24I Hate Talking: I guess sort of like a putrid yellow.
- 26:28I Hate Talking: Like a mustard yellow or like like a vomit yellow.
- 26:32I Hate Talking: Is that yellow or is that more like green?
- 26:36I Hate Talking: It is almost green, but it's, I, -- I would classify it more as a -- yellow.
- 26:41I Hate Talking: OK.
- 26:42I Hate Talking: So, according to Wikipedia, there is a specificantone color, 448C.
- 26:49I Hate Talking: It is described as a drab, dark brown and informally dubbed the ugliest color in the world.
- 26:56I Hate Talking: -- So that -- is and what's it look like, like on the hue, so it's, is it like a brown, like chocolate brown?
- 27:03I Hate Talking: Or what tone are we talking about?
- 27:07I Hate Talking: Well, we'll put it in the show notes as well.
- 27:10I Hate Talking: Right.
- 27:11I Hate Talking: Oh, it's like a greenish.
- 27:14I Hate Talking: It's got like a green tone to it.
- 27:15I Hate Talking: -- It does have -- a little bit of a green.
- 27:16I Hate Talking: I would classify it in the brown -- color -- scheme, newborn poop.
- 27:21I Hate Talking: That's the color of, that's the color of newborns.
- 27:25I Hate Talking: Huh.
- 27:26I Hate Talking: I don't particularly find it.
- 27:28I Hate Talking: Like offensive Right, OK, is this offensive to talk about that you don't mind cleaning up newborn poop?
- 27:38I Hate Talking: I do.
- 27:39I Hate Talking: And that was like our deal, especially cause like, I had just given birth, so it was your job to change diapers.
- 27:46I Hate Talking: If y'all have ever had a baby, or just prepping you for when you do, A newborn has a very specific type of a diaper that comes out in their diaper, and I hate cleaning it.
- 28:00I Hate Talking: I don't mind when they're a little bit older, but that newborn, a day or two old, but you don't mind it, and it is that color.
- 28:10I Hate Talking: I suppose so.
- 28:12I Hate Talking: I'll have to see if I can find a color of what I'm thinking of as I'm picturing it in my mind this color because you can't share that.
- 28:21I Hate Talking: No, I'm saying this sort of yellowish, greenish and that is what I guess because I would have, I guess, erroneously thought that perhaps my most hated color would be in the majority, but I guess as I reflect on that, that would not make sense because my favorite color is far from the majority.
- 28:40I Hate Talking: Is it that yellow shirt I wear?
- 28:43I Hate Talking: Is that the color you're picturing?
- 28:45I Hate Talking: I can't picture the shirt, but it's probably, it's probably why I can't picture it, because I just can't bring it in my mind because I was so offensive.
- 28:55I Hate Talking: I haven't worn it in years, but I'd wear it and I'd get tons of compliments, and you would always tell me you hated it.
- 29:03I Hate Talking: Y'all, to Adam's credit, he is so kind and very complimentary.
- 29:09I Hate Talking: I'm not trying to bash him at all.
- 29:11I Hate Talking: I had a specific shirt, he hated me wearing.
- 29:16I Hate Talking: I don't even own it anymore cause I got rid of it.
- 29:18I Hate Talking: Because I know you hated it so much.
- 29:21I Hate Talking: They got compliments every time I wore it, and it was mustard yellowish.
- 29:29I Hate Talking: Maybe a little more brown mustard yellow.
- 29:33I Hate Talking: Is that what you're picturing?
- 29:34I Hate Talking: Yes, that's the color.
- 29:35I Hate Talking: -- So -- I personally thought you just hated the shirt on me.
- 29:38I Hate Talking: You just hate the color.
- 29:40I Hate Talking: There's something about that color shirt.
- 29:42I Hate Talking: If I ever find that shirt in a photo, I will maybe even put it in the stories to share, but Do you know what I'm talking about now that I'm talking about it?
- 29:55I Hate Talking: Yes, I believe that is even the color that I'm thinking of.
- 29:58I Hate Talking: Maybe that's why I didn't like it.
- 30:00I Hate Talking: I guess so.
- 30:01I Hate Talking: The reason I remember it is because I always got compliments when I wore it.
- 30:06I Hate Talking: I knew my husband hated it, so it was like this hard back and forth between, do I want to make you enjoy what I'm wearing versus somebody else.
- 30:17I Hate Talking: I eventually gave it away because your opinion matters the most to me.
- 30:21I Hate Talking: Indeed.
- 30:23I Hate Talking: So perhaps some content that we can consider next time for a future episode on synesthesia.
- 30:31I Hate Talking: And as we wrap up this episode, in case you're curious, the purple drink that I was consuming this particular episode was a IPA from the makers of beer at Wicked Weed Brewing called Pernicious IPA.
- 30:48I Hate Talking: Mhm.
- 30:49I Hate Talking: Very good.
- 30:51I Hate Talking: And do you like that, the logo and all that?
- 30:54I Hate Talking: Does that appeal to you?
- 30:55I Hate Talking: The purple color does appeal to me.
- 30:58I Hate Talking: It also has a lot of sort of strange looking plants that are outside of the norm, uh, which will perhaps also be a future episode that we can talk about in terms of how non-standard nature things are loved by older generations.
- 31:18I Hate Talking: All right, sounds great.
- 31:20I Hate Talking: Wait, before we leave, are we an older generation?
- 31:25I Hate Talking: No, right?
- 31:26I Hate Talking: I do find myself associating with things that are Typically used to describe older generations.
- 31:33I Hate Talking: I'm still, I feel like we're at the cusp, we've talked about this before.
- 31:38I Hate Talking: We're at the cusp of like, just stepping our toe into the older generation, and I'm not having a crisis about it.
- 31:50I Hate Talking: But like, I don't believe it until I talk to someone younger, then I'm like, oh man, we're old.
- 31:57I Hate Talking: The sandwich generation is what I'm experiencing right now, that sandwich generation where the older parents and young kids, and we're in between dealing with both.
- 32:09I Hate Talking: We're not old yet.
- 32:11I Hate Talking: Perhaps some things we can consider on a future episode.
- 32:15I Hate Talking: Sounds good.
- 32:16I Hate Talking: So from your friends at I hate Talking, until next time, remember, it is only through talking that we begin the journey to understanding.
