- 0:27Speaker 2: I'm Wendy.
- 0:28Speaker 3: I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Today we're discussing The Groomsman Last Dance, the third and
- 0:34Speaker 1: final movie in the Groomsman trilogy. You can catch our

- 0:44Speaker 2: Hey, if you want to talk with other like minded,
- 0:47Speaker 2: cool people who like Hallmark movies, join our Girls Gone
- 0:50Speaker 2: Hallmark Facebook group. Hey, remember a few weeks ago we
- 0:55Speaker 2: made a joke about looking for somebody to be the
- 0:58Speaker 2: admin for our Facebook dig you. Well, thanks to Mackie
- 1:04Speaker 2: and Brenda, we have too, and I just want to
- 1:06Speaker 2: give them a shout out and say thank you for
- 1:09Speaker 2: all you're doing over there keeping everything in tiptop shape. Yeah,
- 1:13Speaker 2: and we even.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Got more volunteers than those two we had already kind
- 1:18Speaker 1: of like we were like, oh my gosh, we have two.
- 1:20Speaker 1: This is amazing. So thank you to every single person
- 1:22Speaker 1: who volunteered. We appreciate you.
- 1:24Speaker 3: We do.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Let's jump right into a synopsis for The Groomsman Last Dance.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Jackson moves to Italy to be near his daughter, but
- 1:32Speaker 2: a chance meeting with a cafe owner, Gabriella, and some
- 1:36Speaker 2: Medalin friends may lead to a second chance at love.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Ron Oliver returns as director. He also wrote the script
- 1:43Speaker 1: for the third and final movie. He directed all three
- 1:46Speaker 1: movies in the trilogy. If you want to watch a
- 1:48Speaker 1: really good Roun Oliver movie, the time of my voice
- 1:50Speaker 1: suggests that I don't think this is a really good
- 1:52Speaker 1: round Oliver movie. I want to make that clear that
- 1:54Speaker 1: that's not what I'm doing here. Check out Love at
- 1:57Speaker 1: the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Tyler Hine is back in the
- 2:01Speaker 1: lead role as Jackson for this one. And while we're
- 2:04Speaker 1: halfway through the twenty twenty four Heinz season, that's what
- 2:08Speaker 1: I'm calling it, There's still more to come. Look forward
- 2:12Speaker 1: to Hines and three Wiserman and a Boy and Holiday Touchdown,
- 2:15Speaker 1: a Chiefs love story coming in. Jonathan Bennett makes a
- 2:20Speaker 1: return as Danny. If you haven't got the first two
- 2:22Speaker 1: episodes of Finding Mister Christmas on Hallmark Plus yet, they
- 2:25Speaker 1: are definitely worth the watch.
- 2:27Speaker 2: It's a reality.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Competition that's giving us all the holiday vibes we need
- 2:31Speaker 1: right now.
- 2:32Speaker 2: B J Britt returns as Doctor p and for anyone
- 2:35Speaker 2: craving more of Bjay's holiday charm, you can check him
- 2:39Speaker 2: out in last year's holiday movie on own called A
- 2:43Speaker 2: Christmas Serenade. He's also known for roles in Unreal Being
- 2:48Speaker 2: Mary Jane and Agents of Shield.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Chloe Raphael plays Betty Jackson's daughter as previously mentioned, Chloe's
- 2:55Speaker 1: and a ton of voice work with the children's animated
- 2:57Speaker 1: series Thomas and Friends and Now We Know Lily Doddsworth
- 3:02Speaker 1: Evans plays Elizabeth. That's Betty all grown up. She has
- 3:06Speaker 1: seventeen acting credits with projects like Durracula, The Good Liar
- 3:09Speaker 1: and the Art of Racing.
- 3:11Speaker 2: In the Rain.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Elena Rosconi plays Jackson's love interest, Gabriella. She's an Italian
- 3:16Speaker 1: actress with six previous acting credits, including the American TV
- 3:20Speaker 1: series The Catch from twenty sixteen. Her next project is
- 3:23Speaker 1: called Rise of the Raven.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Oliver Shaw plays Young Milo. He has just two other
- 3:28Speaker 2: projects outside of the Groomsman trilogy, but can currently be
- 3:31Speaker 2: seen in the series Disclaimer on Apple TV.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Cosimofusco plays Lorenzo Cosimo has fifty nine acting credits, but
- 3:41Speaker 1: most notably he played Paolo from Friends. Thank You to
- 3:46Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hallmark Facebook group members for pointing out that
- 3:50Speaker 1: tidbit to us, We're gonna take a quick break and
- 3:53Speaker 1: come right back. It is time for first impressions. What
- 4:05Speaker 1: is your first impression of the Groomsman Last Dance.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I'm kind of into a silver Fox Tyler Hines.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, a little flash forward moment.
- 4:14Speaker 3: I liked it.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I mean it was a full silver Fox, and I
- 4:17Speaker 2: think if it did go there, it was like almost
- 4:19Speaker 2: like a costume. I like the little the little little wisps,
- 4:24Speaker 2: little brush of silver they put at his temples.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Yeah, he and Danny both got the aging treatment in
- 4:30Speaker 1: BJ's all, I still look good. My first impression is
- 4:37Speaker 1: I spent this entire movie being so distracted by Alana
- 4:40Speaker 1: Rasconi's perfect face. Oh she's beautiful, truly striking, totally striking beautiful.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I read in an IMDb review that people didn't like
- 4:52Speaker 1: her because she came off too hard in her in
- 4:54Speaker 1: her portrayal of Gabriella. I was like, whatever, whatever, whatever, man,
- 5:01Speaker 1: let's talk what we liked about the movie.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Well, I want to ask you, of the three, how
- 5:06Speaker 2: did you.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Enjoy this installment?
- 5:08Speaker 2: This movie had a very different tone for me.
- 5:12Speaker 1: It was like a calmer wiser, almost more serious.
- 5:16Speaker 2: In tone than the other movies.
- 5:19Speaker 1: There are still some like they infuse the comedy, but
- 5:23Speaker 1: I think it speaks to the fact that if you
- 5:25Speaker 1: look at the way Tyler Hines does comedy as opposed
- 5:29Speaker 1: to the way Jonathan Bennett does comedy, Tyler is more
- 5:34Speaker 1: like in small expressions, He's his comedy is in like
- 5:38Speaker 1: throwaway lines, where Jonathan Bennett does like a real good
- 5:43Speaker 1: physical comedy. He's so expressive and man spent months on Broadway.
- 5:49Speaker 1: So I liked this movie as the culmination to our
- 5:54Speaker 1: three stories. If I'm gonna have to pick a favorite,
- 5:58Speaker 1: it's gonna be Second Chances.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Really, hmm, that is so interesting. I think it was
- 6:07Speaker 2: the best of the three. Oh, but I do think
- 6:10Speaker 2: you're right the tone was a little different than the
- 6:13Speaker 2: other two, and I also think it stands out it
- 6:18Speaker 2: honestly could have been like a solo movie. I totally agree.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I think it has something to do with like the
- 6:25Speaker 2: forward progression.
- 6:27Speaker 3: It doesn't this movie.
- 6:29Speaker 2: I mean, although it starts out with some overlapping scenes, again,
- 6:34Speaker 2: we have like progression in time, like almost a year's
- 6:37Speaker 2: worth at least, right, So that's why I'm like, oh,
- 6:41Speaker 2: I could see this as a standalone movie, but of
- 6:43Speaker 2: course we have the Betty of it all, like that
- 6:45Speaker 2: is the tie that brings them all the three together.
- 6:48Speaker 2: So I'm not suggesting it should have been a solo movie.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I just talking about it, that's all, No, I hear you.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And not only did we get like the solid year
- 6:56Speaker 1: progression because obviously Betty has picked up, moved in, she's
- 7:00Speaker 1: settled there, but we also get a fifteen twenty year
- 7:05Speaker 1: flash forward because we are dealing with adult Betty at
- 7:10Speaker 1: this point. I do like that they brought so many
- 7:13Speaker 1: elements of this story full circle that we get the reveal,
- 7:18Speaker 1: which I will have some issues with, but the Betty
- 7:21Speaker 1: Elizabeth runaway bride reveal, we get the storyline behind all
- 7:25Speaker 1: of that.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I really enjoyed this like exploration of father and daughter connection.
- 7:34Speaker 2: And you and I had talked like off Mike about well,
- 7:38Speaker 2: this is like kind of weird. Why is the why
- 7:40Speaker 2: is Betty going away with the mom to Italy? Like
- 7:43Speaker 2: why doesn't Jackson have any say in any of this?
- 7:46Speaker 3: Right?
- 7:46Speaker 2: And learning that the mom worked in like military. I
- 7:51Speaker 2: had asked you. I was like, does that change anything
- 7:53Speaker 2: for you? It wasn't just like she was like, I'm
- 7:56Speaker 2: picking up and moving to Italy with my daughter, and oh,
- 8:00Speaker 2: well for you, dad, does it change for you or no?
- 8:05Speaker 1: I mean I understand her motivation for needing to leave.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I'm not yeah, I'm not trying to paint the mom
- 8:09Speaker 1: with like a selfish brush here. Obviously I didn't have
- 8:13Speaker 1: the information. We talked about this in last episode, and
- 8:15Speaker 1: I was like, welcome, she just gets to decide. I
- 8:17Speaker 1: understand why the mom needs to leave. I think for
- 8:21Speaker 1: the sake of time, we can't get too into the
- 8:23Speaker 1: weeds in the movie right of the custody battle of
- 8:26Speaker 1: it All. And perhaps obviously Jackson has a great relationship
- 8:32Speaker 1: with Betty's mom, like they're friends. They seem to have
- 8:35Speaker 1: a lot of love and respect for each other, and
- 8:38Speaker 1: so maybe it's just that he was like, I'm not
- 8:40Speaker 1: going to be the one to take her away from
- 8:42Speaker 1: her mother, so I'll have to be the one who suffers.
- 8:45Speaker 1: But I still think if you were going to dig
- 8:47Speaker 1: into it, it'd be like, well, how come this super
- 8:49Speaker 1: involved dad just has to lie down and take the
- 8:52Speaker 1: fact that his daughter is moving away.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yeah, now I can see that also though, and of
- 8:58Speaker 2: course I've made this whole narrative up in my head.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Jackson has the means to travel and see her whenever
- 9:04Speaker 2: he would like. And I can also see Jackson's character
- 9:07Speaker 2: also being like, you know, a girl needs her mom
- 9:11Speaker 2: or whatever. So of course we're not gonna like, we
- 9:16Speaker 2: don't know the ins and outs of it, but whatever.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I just it's an interesting way they did it.
- 9:21Speaker 3: I thought.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Towards the end of the movie, we learned that Jackson
- 9:24Speaker 1: blames himself for the demise of his marriage because he
- 9:27Speaker 1: was a workaholic, Like he was so focused on like
- 9:31Speaker 1: making the next dollar, and so perhaps, you know, we
- 9:34Speaker 1: know that he's still carrying that with him because he's like,
- 9:37Speaker 1: I am not going to be good at a relationship.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Perhaps he blames himself enough that he's like, I don't
- 9:42Speaker 1: get to make these decisions about Betty's life because I
- 9:45Speaker 1: already ruined it once in his house.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, interesting, But back to my original point, I like,
- 9:52Speaker 2: I like the story they're telling in between like fathers
- 9:55Speaker 2: and daughters, because if we see it between like Betty
- 9:57Speaker 2: and Jackson, but we also see it with Gabrielle and
- 10:01Speaker 2: her dad too. You know that it's important that daughters
- 10:06Speaker 2: have stable men in their life to kind of role
- 10:10Speaker 2: model what love is and sure steam and yeah, anyway,
- 10:15Speaker 2: I just thought it was a nice narrative, one we
- 10:17Speaker 2: don't typically see on Hallmark. And I don't think, like,
- 10:22Speaker 2: looking at this movie, like people are going to really
- 10:24Speaker 2: come away from from it with like, oh that whole
- 10:28Speaker 2: point of the movie.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Maybe it's because I have.
- 10:31Speaker 2: My own teenage daughter that I'm like and have my
- 10:34Speaker 2: own like father daughter things. Yeah, yeah, yeah, like what
- 10:40Speaker 2: have we been saying for weeks? And we like we
- 10:41Speaker 2: want to see ourselves in these So that's what I'm
- 10:45Speaker 2: taking away from it.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's definitely layered. I think they
- 10:48Speaker 1: did a nice job of not making the father daughter's
- 10:52Speaker 1: story secondary. Betty's storyline is strong throughout all three movies,
- 10:57Speaker 1: even when Jackson's storyline isn't the one who is featured.
- 11:00Speaker 1: They did a really nice job of making it clear
- 11:04Speaker 1: that she's in their lives that like it's Uncle Pete
- 11:06Speaker 1: and Uncle Danny, and these men have a lot of
- 11:10Speaker 1: affection for their friend's daughter and they take their role
- 11:14Speaker 1: in her life seriously, because it all comes together in
- 11:17Speaker 1: this movie, right, We would be less invested in her
- 11:19Speaker 1: future marriage if we didn't have all of this other backstory.
- 11:22Speaker 1: So I think they do a good job of building
- 11:25Speaker 1: all of these layers in the movie.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so too. I think so too. Here's
- 11:30Speaker 2: something else I really liked. I have really enjoyed seeing
- 11:33Speaker 2: Tyler Hines and this against It's not even truly against type.
- 11:39Speaker 2: It's just that he's like this single sexy, involved dad
- 11:45Speaker 2: rather than the single sexy Lithario. I don't know, not
- 11:51Speaker 2: that he plays that role, you know what I mean?
- 11:53Speaker 2: Though he's not the single sexy guy looking for romance.
- 11:57Speaker 2: It's like he it adds another layer to his character
- 11:59Speaker 2: being like dad, which I really find appealing.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I like. I like the differences we
- 12:07Speaker 1: got in our three guys and the way that they're
- 12:11Speaker 1: approaching romance and their roadblocks were all so different, and
- 12:16Speaker 1: I don't think that's necessarily super easy to do. They
- 12:19Speaker 1: made them different without making them caricatures of relationships. I
- 12:25Speaker 1: think it made sense for obviously it made sense for
- 12:28Speaker 1: Tyler's movie to anchor this series. But I think they
- 12:30Speaker 1: did a really nice job of building the momentum and
- 12:35Speaker 1: building these movies on each other. It's I believe Jonathan
- 12:39Speaker 1: Bennett recently said how long they were on location. I
- 12:42Speaker 1: kind of feel like it was like three months maybe.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like it was a long time because
- 12:47Speaker 2: remember it was all happening during summertime, and we were like,
- 12:51Speaker 2: what are they really?
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah, what's happening?
- 12:54Speaker 2: Like they were sending out all these like cryptic things
- 12:57Speaker 2: that we were doing there in Greece.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I'm just a mad a murder board style directorial setup.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Or you're trying to figure out all of the different
- 13:07Speaker 1: stories that you need to tell in the individual movies
- 13:09Speaker 1: and all of the ways you need to support them
- 13:11Speaker 1: and make them make sense and not leave pieces hanging.
- 13:15Speaker 1: And this was a huge project and I genuinely think
- 13:19Speaker 1: this was a big hit.
- 13:21Speaker 2: I wonder when they're gonna move this over to linear cable.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Yeah people can the other people can watch it, so
- 13:27Speaker 2: non Hallmark Plus subscribers can watch it. Yeah. My feeling
- 13:31Speaker 2: is that it's going to be a minute before they
- 13:33Speaker 2: do that.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I mean, they really want to use this as a
- 13:36Speaker 1: huge draw to the Hallmark Plus and they are Hallmark
- 13:40Speaker 1: Plus has this you earn points like with Hallmark dot com,
- 13:44Speaker 1: like for buying stuff. I think you can all use
- 13:46Speaker 1: in store. I don't really know. I haven't actually been
- 13:48Speaker 1: set up my account that way. But if you watch
- 13:51Speaker 1: all three of these movies, you do get a five
- 13:54Speaker 1: dollars credit to a Hallmark store.
- 13:57Speaker 2: How does that work?
- 13:58Speaker 3: Do you know?
- 13:59Speaker 1: I have absolutely no idea. Well or just knows because
- 14:04Speaker 1: you link your Hallmark Plus account with your other account.
- 14:07Speaker 1: But what's very right, but you do your own points.
- 14:13Speaker 1: They are really trying to build out the experience on
- 14:16Speaker 1: the app.
- 14:16Speaker 2: In a totally non sponsored plug here. I recently went
- 14:20Speaker 2: into my local Hallmark store and I gotta tell you,
- 14:22Speaker 2: their ornaments were popping. They were oh my gosh this year.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Me too.
- 14:26Speaker 1: We were in there yesterday because we went to the
- 14:28Speaker 1: mall and they had some did you see the Lacy bear?
- 14:31Speaker 2: I did? I did, Okay, go ahead, what'd you see?
- 14:35Speaker 1: We were just mostly looking at the ornaments, although they
- 14:37Speaker 1: did have like a Hallmark channel knockoff Stanley Tumblr and
- 14:41Speaker 1: it was like my to do list, watch Chrystals movies,
- 14:44Speaker 1: watch Chrystals movies, watch Christmas movies.
- 14:45Speaker 2: And I was like, that's real cute. We need that.
- 14:47Speaker 2: You're like, am I gonna need this for the crews.
- 14:50Speaker 2: And they have some really nice plush blankets. I say,
- 14:54Speaker 2: like my homemark watching blanket or whatever. Their stuff is nice.
- 14:58Speaker 3: It is nice.
- 15:00Speaker 2: And hey if also if you're a Gilmore Girls fan,
- 15:03Speaker 2: they have some really cute Gilmore Girls themed ornaments this
- 15:06Speaker 2: year too.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I love their ornaments so much. And it's like, we're
- 15:11Speaker 1: real weird about the kind of ornaments that are allowed
- 15:12Speaker 1: to go on your tree.
- 15:13Speaker 2: And the ornaments on your tree.
- 15:15Speaker 1: No, we have a we have multiple trees, so those
- 15:18Speaker 1: go on our bedroom tree, all those like themed ornaments.
- 15:21Speaker 1: But they had some really cute Every year they just
- 15:24Speaker 1: come out. There's some funny Christmas vacation ornaments. They're really fun.
- 15:27Speaker 2: My husband and I went to the Hallmark sort. It
- 15:31Speaker 2: feels like it was months ago, but ever since then,
- 15:33Speaker 2: like these boxes keep showing up on our front porch
- 15:35Speaker 2: address to him and they have like the purple Hallmark
- 15:38Speaker 2: like packaging on it. And I was like, hey, thanks
- 15:40Speaker 2: for keeping me in business, because you know, I feel
- 15:43Speaker 2: like I'm somewhat associated. Our podcast is somewhat associated. So funny,
- 15:49Speaker 2: what is he ordering?
- 15:51Speaker 3: I have no idea. I don't know.
- 15:53Speaker 2: He hasn't showed me there, so I don't know if
- 15:54Speaker 2: they're for me or I mean, I have no idea.
- 16:00Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Oh that's very exciting, report book. I will in Anothery're like,
- 16:05Speaker 1: I just got to say the location was stunning. It
- 16:06Speaker 1: was absolutely gorgeous. I know they weren't in Italy while
- 16:09Speaker 1: filming this, but.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Where was beautiful? Yeah?
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah, because they only filmed in Greece in Bulgaria, so
- 16:16Speaker 1: this must have been you know, Bulgaria stands in as
- 16:19Speaker 1: faux Friends and apparently fo Italy as well.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I have to tell you. There were a lot
- 16:25Speaker 2: of things. I liked how this movie was executed, and
- 16:27Speaker 2: we did talk a little bit about it already, but
- 16:29Speaker 2: the overlapping scenes at the beginning I really like. I
- 16:32Speaker 2: like how we revisit that and like we're like, okay,
- 16:35Speaker 2: now we're starting something else. I think that's cool. I
- 16:38Speaker 2: loved the whole throwback to the video game in this movie.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Will Milo explains like he was MLB and it wasn't Danny.
- 16:48Speaker 3: I thought that was very clever.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I was like, I need to go watch that scene
- 16:52Speaker 1: again where she's like, oh MLB Danny.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, I'm trying to remember what Jonathan Bennet's
- 16:59Speaker 2: face was like that, yes, exactly, Yeah, my financials by
- 17:04Speaker 2: the way, before I was married MLB.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Anyway, Oh, that's interesting. That tracks the baseball ho just kidding.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Uh. And the use this is what I really liked.
- 17:16Speaker 2: The use of Elizabeth slash Betty to tell the entire
- 17:20Speaker 2: story and how those relationships and her life shaped her
- 17:23Speaker 2: own perspective on love. I thought was really smart. I
- 17:28Speaker 2: really enjoyed it, you know.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I thought it was a really interesting take to take
- 17:33Speaker 1: these movies, take these stories which are cinematic, and not
- 17:37Speaker 1: every romance it's like that, right, Like if I look
- 17:39Speaker 1: at mine, there's no like big conflict and major resolution
- 17:43Speaker 1: before I got married. And I thought it was really
- 17:46Speaker 1: interesting for a company that makes movies about love and
- 17:52Speaker 1: about sweeping love stories to tell these three really beautiful
- 17:56Speaker 1: stories and then to put one of their main characters
- 17:59Speaker 1: in position to be like, wait, does that make my
- 18:03Speaker 1: personal love story less powerful? I just thought it was
- 18:08Speaker 1: really interesting and have her come to the realization like
- 18:11Speaker 1: our story is just as special.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Every story matters it totally. Every story does matter. And
- 18:17Speaker 2: while you were talking about that, I was thinking about
- 18:19Speaker 2: all the entertainment we have consumed over our lifetime, right
- 18:23Speaker 2: watching like soap operas or watching reality TV or watching
- 18:30Speaker 2: teen drama. Sometimes you've become so invested and you think,
- 18:33Speaker 2: like that mirrors what real life should look like, and
- 18:38Speaker 2: it doesn't always, But that doesn't make your own experience
- 18:42Speaker 2: less less than you know, so you're right, it's super
- 18:46Speaker 2: interesting that a company that gives us all these big
- 18:49Speaker 2: stories was like, no, it's okay, your story is as
- 18:52Speaker 2: equally as important. I have a few more likes, okay.
- 18:56Speaker 2: I enjoyed Gabriella as Tyler's love interests. I like that
- 18:59Speaker 2: she was a strong woman and like firm in her
- 19:03Speaker 2: beliefs on things. I'm not sure if I cared a
- 19:06Speaker 2: lot about like her storyline storyline getting like the parents'
- 19:09Speaker 2: restaurants to like, yeah, be bigger and better like but
- 19:13Speaker 2: I can see like they needed it to show some
- 19:16Speaker 2: sort of like parialism between like her relationship with her dad.
- 19:20Speaker 2: But I liked Gabriella a lot, and I also liked
- 19:23Speaker 2: her mom, who I thought had several funny moments. There
- 19:28Speaker 2: was an up and down look she did with Jackson,
- 19:30Speaker 2: like when she she meets Gabrielle's American friend for the
- 19:34Speaker 2: first time. That was really funny, and she had this
- 19:38Speaker 2: other this really funny line I thought was really great
- 19:41Speaker 2: about this is before I did I realized that the
- 19:44Speaker 2: mom and dad were divorced. But she's like, I don't
- 19:47Speaker 2: talk to your dad and he doesn't talk to me,
- 19:49Speaker 2: and everybody lives happily ever after. Yes, it's totally in
- 19:52Speaker 2: my notes too, we have an agreement, we don't talk.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I loved that. I laughed out loud. And let's talk
- 19:58Speaker 2: about the dance scene at festival. Oh my gosh, so steamy.
- 20:04Speaker 2: I thought so too. I wrote spicy and sensual and
- 20:07Speaker 2: it was just not just a dance, but it was
- 20:09Speaker 2: a dance.
- 20:10Speaker 3: There was nothing like.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Inappropriate inappropriate about it, but I thought it was really nice.
- 20:16Speaker 2: And I don't know if you saw this yesterday, but
- 20:18Speaker 2: on our Instagram reels, I posted what that scene reminded
- 20:22Speaker 2: me of. And it's a movie called Swingers. It's from
- 20:24Speaker 2: the late nineties. Have you ever seen that movie? Yeah?
- 20:27Speaker 2: But I think you posted in stories, But yes, I
- 20:29Speaker 2: have seen Storyvie. Yes, that's where it was. It was
- 20:31Speaker 2: on Instagram somewhere. Swingers is one of my all time
- 20:34Speaker 2: favorite movies. And when I saw this scene in the
- 20:37Speaker 2: Groomsman yesterday. It instantly reminded me of that. Danny and
- 20:43Speaker 2: Pete are like on the side, like there's our boy,
- 20:46Speaker 2: you know, they were so excited for him. I loved it.
- 20:51Speaker 2: I just loved it so much. And at the end
- 20:53Speaker 2: they're like doubled it be. It was just was really funny.
- 20:56Speaker 1: It reminded me of our conversation with Jeff Beasley where
- 20:59Speaker 1: we talked about how like we love infusing comedy into
- 21:03Speaker 1: these moments that you know he sometimes directs like real
- 21:06Speaker 1: straightforward like a day Spring, or like Miracle and Bethlehem
- 21:10Speaker 1: that are you know, more serious in tone, but like
- 21:14Speaker 1: finds the humor. And I think it was such a
- 21:17Speaker 1: nice balance in this moment, like it made.
- 21:19Speaker 2: It more watchable.
- 21:20Speaker 1: They weren't trying to make it this like deeply HBO
- 21:24Speaker 1: moment when you've got Danny and Pete on the side,
- 21:28Speaker 1: like I didn't know his hips could move like that.
- 21:30Speaker 2: It was a great balance in that moment. I agree,
- 21:35Speaker 2: Did you like anything else? I'm tapped out?
- 21:38Speaker 1: Me too, I have but one wish, Oh tell me
- 21:42Speaker 1: I have too? Go ahead, Well look absolutely no shade
- 21:46Speaker 1: to Lily Dodsworth Evans, who is as cute as can be,
- 21:49Speaker 1: but I'm having a hard time buying her as adult Bettie.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Same it's my same wish.
- 21:55Speaker 1: As soon as you said like, their eyes are different,
- 21:57Speaker 1: I was like, oh my gosh, their eyes are different.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Which they're both blue. I thought young Betties were brown
- 22:04Speaker 2: at first, but oh they are blue. They are blue,
- 22:08Speaker 2: but they're dark blue. Lily Dodsworth Evans has striking light
- 22:12Speaker 2: blue eyes. Completely different, her eye shape, everything completely different.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I just look. I know people change, their hair
- 22:21Speaker 1: can change. She could be straightening that curly hair.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I get it.
- 22:25Speaker 1: And who knows which actress came first. And there's a
- 22:29Speaker 1: lot of factors that are going into the production here.
- 22:31Speaker 1: It's not just struggled with it a little bit.
- 22:35Speaker 3: I understand. I did too.
- 22:36Speaker 2: I think it was a little bit of a miscast
- 22:39Speaker 2: in terms of consistency. But yeah, but both its actors
- 22:43Speaker 2: were great in their roles. I have one more, and
- 22:46Speaker 2: this is because I'm hashtag no fun. I don't need
- 22:49Speaker 2: to see the wedding dance again, the.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Whole, the whole.
- 22:54Speaker 2: You know there, everybody's doing it at one time, like
- 22:56Speaker 2: a nineties rom com. You know they're going to do
- 22:58Speaker 2: it on the cruise right. Well on my notes I
- 23:01Speaker 2: put but please everybody know I will participate if it's
- 23:05Speaker 2: offered on the cruise.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Trying it too.
- 23:08Speaker 1: I was watching on a wave. I'm laughing so hard
- 23:12Speaker 1: because I had a do it. I had a similar thought.
- 23:16Speaker 1: I have not one rhythmic bone in my entire body,
- 23:20Speaker 1: but I was like, maybe I could do this if
- 23:22Speaker 1: they teach it. It's like a line dance basically.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Yes, and working to do it, and I'm gonna film it,
- 23:28Speaker 2: so you guys need to watch.
- 23:30Speaker 1: We'll need to have one of those themed cocktails ahead
- 23:32Speaker 1: of time. Yeah, they should do it up to the
- 23:34Speaker 1: Wednesday bar crawl.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Okay exactly. Maybe I say bar crawl will just turn
- 23:40Speaker 2: into you like this, You know what I mean? Okay,
- 23:45Speaker 2: are you ready for dig You see that I am.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I also only have one, Oh I have I have
- 23:51Speaker 2: a couple. In Betty's wedding scene, they're flashing on, you know,
- 23:55Speaker 2: the different characters, and at one point they flash on
- 23:58Speaker 2: Zach played by Oxen Lincoln and seated next to him
- 24:01Speaker 2: as a young boy, and I thought to Danny and
- 24:06Speaker 2: Zach have a baby.
- 24:07Speaker 1: But then I don't, like, you know, the timeframe here.
- 24:10Speaker 2: But then in the actual wedding.
- 24:13Speaker 1: There is no child seated. I was like, maybe he
- 24:15Speaker 1: went chat with someone else. I don't know, but I
- 24:17Speaker 1: wondered if they were hinting at perhaps Danny and Zach
- 24:21Speaker 1: have a baby.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that's interesting. I noticed that there was a child
- 24:25Speaker 2: sitting next to the actress who played Betty's mom too. Yeah,
- 24:30Speaker 2: me too. I was like, who's that baby? Not baby,
- 24:32Speaker 2: but she was a young child, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 24:36Speaker 2: Well why did you see that?
- 24:38Speaker 3: They're kind of all over the place.
- 24:39Speaker 2: But since we're talking about Betty's wedding, there was no
- 24:42Speaker 2: dance floor. They were just dancing on the hotel carpet
- 24:45Speaker 2: in that ballroom. Mmmm, I don't like that feels interesting.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Pross Well, I don't know. Like a million people I've
- 24:54Speaker 2: been there before. They're not licking it. I know. Hey,
- 24:59Speaker 2: wedding dan ant scene gets kind of crazy. You should
- 25:02Speaker 2: have saw mine. Like my father in law and his
- 25:04Speaker 2: fraternity brothers were on the floor doing like the worm
- 25:07Speaker 2: and stuff. Things get out of control, Okay, things get
- 25:14Speaker 2: out of control. H Milo's groomsman. Why why is it
- 25:18Speaker 2: Danny and Pete? Why are they sitting up at the
- 25:20Speaker 2: head table. Milo does has no friends.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I think that's the most neglected piece in all of
- 25:25Speaker 1: these movies is the wedding parties, other than obviously the
- 25:28Speaker 1: groomsmen there for each other. Like Chelsea her best friend
- 25:33Speaker 1: who she was in her wedding isn't in her wedding,
- 25:36Speaker 1: and then Benny's friends. She's just got these two. In
- 25:39Speaker 1: my mind, they're like Anastasia and Drozlla, like the Wicked Stepsisters.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Like they don't and I'm not saying they're unattractive, they
- 25:45Speaker 1: just look miserable the entire time.
- 25:49Speaker 2: And I was like, what's happening, Like yeah, yeah, yeah, okay,
- 25:55Speaker 2: two more wishes. I swear Actress Lily Dosworth Evans has an.
- 26:00Speaker 2: I can swear it. I agree with you, And I
- 26:04Speaker 2: tried to look everywhere. I've never seen any of her
- 26:06Speaker 2: other projects, so I don't know how she speaks. But
- 26:09Speaker 2: somebody please tell me. Is she like a British actor?
- 26:12Speaker 2: I know.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I googled is Lily Dudsworth Evans British? I went to
- 26:16Speaker 1: her Instagram. She did have Instagram stories posted, but she
- 26:19Speaker 1: wasn't speaking in any of them. I tried to find
- 26:21Speaker 1: it too, and finally this this comes from our Facebook group.
- 26:30Speaker 2: But I don't know if you noticed. I did see
- 26:32Speaker 2: somebody in heels walking on a cobblestone street and their
- 26:36Speaker 2: ankle turned just alone. No. In our Facebook group, somebody
- 26:41Speaker 2: was like, why do they always have women walking in
- 26:44Speaker 2: like heels or wedges or whatever on cobblestone streets? Team
- 26:47Speaker 2: tennis shoes. So yes, I totally saw that team tennis shoes.
- 26:52Speaker 2: I agree.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Stresses me out. It makes my feet hurt. In solidarity, maam,
- 27:01Speaker 1: I'm a klutz, so me too. I'll break an ankle
- 27:04Speaker 1: in ten minutes and I have so yeah. Yes, in
- 27:10Speaker 1: tennis shoes, in.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Tennis shoes, no less, yep, yep. All right, what did
- 27:15Speaker 3: you rate the Groomsman Last Dance?
- 27:17Speaker 2: I gave it four stars.
