Latest / Inside the Birds: A Philadelphia Eagles Podcast / Inside The Tape With Greg Cosell: Where Were Breakdowns In Eagles Run Defense vs. Rams?
Transcript
- 0:08Speaker 1: Hello, welcome back to Inside the Tape on Inside the Birds.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Of course, Inside the Tape is with Greg Cosell, who
- 0:14Speaker 1: breaks down the tape of the Eagles last game. I'm
- 0:17Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher alongside Adam Kaplan, and we're breaking down the
- 0:21Speaker 1: Eagles defense from their thirty three to twenty six comeback
- 0:24Speaker 1: win over the Rams in Week three. That's because on
- 0:27Speaker 1: the last episode we did the offense, and so here
- 0:30Speaker 1: we moved.
- 0:30Speaker 2: To the other side of the ball and Greg very.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Lopsided game because I think you can say, man, the
- 0:37Speaker 1: Eagles giving up twenty six points is not where they
- 0:39Speaker 1: want to be, but a lot of key drives in
- 0:42Speaker 1: which they held the Rams field goals, and then later
- 0:47Speaker 1: in the second half you had some big third down
- 0:50Speaker 1: and fourth down stops by Jordan Davis. So certainly a
- 0:53Speaker 1: lot of positives to go along with some of the
- 0:55Speaker 1: negatives that we'll talk about saying run defense.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Yeah, the rund defense was problematic in the first half.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Korum and Williams combined for nineteen for one oh nine.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Their front was handled in the first half. You know,
- 1:09Speaker 3: Davis had had a great second half on defense, not
- 1:12Speaker 3: a great first half. Jalen Carter for whatever reason, was
- 1:17Speaker 3: not really a factor in this game. And again when
- 1:21Speaker 3: I say not a factor, it's not a matter of
- 1:23Speaker 3: him making tackles, but he wasn't really a factor in winning.
- 1:26Speaker 3: So he was not a big factor in this game,
- 1:28Speaker 3: which is odd, but that's what the tape showed. The
- 1:31Speaker 3: other thing that really stood out to me in this
- 1:33Speaker 3: game was the way they used Jihad Campbell. He had
- 1:36Speaker 3: nineteen snaps on the ball in this game, the most
- 1:40Speaker 3: of any in the first two games. In fact, he
- 1:43Speaker 3: had nineteen total in the first two games and he
- 1:45Speaker 3: had nineteen in this game. So is this a harbringer
- 1:48Speaker 3: of things to come? You know? That could be opponent based,
- 1:51Speaker 3: We don't know. But they could not stop the run
- 1:54Speaker 3: particularly well in the first half. They were moved off
- 1:56Speaker 3: the ball, and that's what normally happens in the run
- 1:59Speaker 3: game when you don't stop it, as you get moved
- 2:01Speaker 3: off the ball at the first level. You know, and
- 2:05Speaker 3: you know, neither back korm or Williams is necessarily the
- 2:07Speaker 3: kind of back that's going to break a fifty yarders,
- 2:09Speaker 3: so they were fortunate in that regard. Maybe it was
- 2:11Speaker 3: a different back they could have given up, you know,
- 2:13Speaker 3: some longer plays, but they were handled in the first half,
- 2:17Speaker 3: so you know, which was you know, you're not used
- 2:19Speaker 3: to seeing that. The other thing that we talked about
- 2:22Speaker 3: last week which did show up is Mitchell predominantly lined
- 2:26Speaker 3: up over Adams. Adams is the static receiver in the
- 2:29Speaker 3: Rams offense, and there were snaps where he played zero
- 2:33Speaker 3: man where they did not have a safety to that
- 2:35Speaker 3: side of the field who was going to help him
- 2:37Speaker 3: out in any way. So they are really comfortable with
- 2:40Speaker 3: Mitchells as you know, a big time corner right now.
- 2:43Speaker 3: And I think his tape warrants that.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Two questions off what you were talking about. So with
- 2:47Speaker 4: Jordan Davis tech was it a technique issue number one?
- 2:51Speaker 4: In the first half.
- 2:53Speaker 3: I've thought in the first half he had some snaps
- 2:55Speaker 3: or he reverted back to what we saw you know
- 2:57Speaker 3: last year where he stood up straight earlier early in
- 3:00Speaker 3: the game. There were a couple where he was really good,
- 3:02Speaker 3: and then he started standing up a little bit, and
- 3:05Speaker 3: then in the second half he came back and played
- 3:06Speaker 3: much much better. Now.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Campbell on the ball, was it was it a nickel?
- 3:11Speaker 4: Was it in base any particular way that they used
- 3:13Speaker 4: him where they put.
- 3:16Speaker 3: It was mostly a nickel, But there were some in
- 3:18Speaker 3: the third quarter as probably an adjustment, you know, after
- 3:22Speaker 3: they got beat badly by the run game in the
- 3:25Speaker 3: first half, they would put him on the ball and
- 3:27Speaker 3: make it a six man front in base. They did
- 3:30Speaker 3: that maybe three or four times in the third quarter
- 3:33Speaker 3: because they needed to stop the run. That's what was
- 3:35Speaker 3: happening in the game. But they also used him quite
- 3:38Speaker 3: a bit as a pass rusher. You know, when he
- 3:40Speaker 3: would line up on the ball on a five man front,
- 3:42Speaker 3: he'd get the one on one on the tackle. He
- 3:44Speaker 3: didn't have great success, but I think you'll probably continue
- 3:48Speaker 3: to see more of that.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Edge setting seemed to be a little bit of difficulty
- 3:53Speaker 1: on Yeah.
- 3:55Speaker 3: You know, they ran at the nickel a lot in
- 3:57Speaker 3: this game and had success, and that's the gene. It's
- 4:00Speaker 3: always tough to know if he's the edge setter or
- 4:03Speaker 3: if the way you know, I don't know exactly how
- 4:05Speaker 3: they structure that, but they clearly struggled to set the
- 4:08Speaker 3: edge and there were a number of runs that got outside.
- 4:12Speaker 3: You know, there was no wide guy to turn it
- 4:14Speaker 3: back in.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah, notice that also, and Greg, something we talked about
- 4:19Speaker 1: in the pregame show was that the Rams will play
- 4:22Speaker 1: a decent amount of twelve personnel, but it feels like
- 4:25Speaker 1: they intentionally played way more eleven.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Personnel in this game.
- 4:30Speaker 1: This game, yes, and so that meant they wanted the
- 4:33Speaker 1: Eagles in Nickel surprisingly mean, because that means the Jeans
- 4:36Speaker 1: on the field, and he's usually pretty.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Good, right right, So they clearly you know, in this game,
- 4:40Speaker 3: because going back a week or so, they were only
- 4:42Speaker 3: like fifty five percent in eleven personnel. This game, much
- 4:45Speaker 3: higher percentage. Obviously, that's clearly game plan for their opponent.
- 4:50Speaker 3: So they wanted to do that, you know. They also
- 4:54Speaker 3: could have felt that, you know, that they wanted Jackson
- 4:58Speaker 3: you know, on the field, and even though they did
- 5:00Speaker 3: initially go at him in a strict sense, you know,
- 5:03Speaker 3: they maybe they just wanted him on the field.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I thought the kid that they we mentioned in the
- 5:09Speaker 1: pregame show from Texas, what was his name, winning.
- 5:13Speaker 5: Pretty decent blocker, A slot blocker.
- 5:15Speaker 6: Yes, Yes, it's a body on guys, you know, yeah, yeah,
- 5:18Speaker 6: which is integral to what they do because they, as
- 5:20Speaker 6: we mentioned in the pregame show, tons of reduced splits,
- 5:23Speaker 6: a lot of guys tight to the line of scrimmage,
- 5:25Speaker 6: and that's how they run they put bodies up and
- 5:27Speaker 6: try and he.
- 5:28Speaker 3: And the coup are their motion receivers. Adams is static.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Right, right, Let's talk about Vick's philosophy, because in the
- 5:36Speaker 1: last episode we mentioned how Chris Shula, defensive coordinator for
- 5:40Speaker 1: the Rams, It's like he banged his head and thought
- 5:42Speaker 1: he was Wink Martindale or something. He was blitzing at
- 5:45Speaker 1: a higher rate then he normally blitzes and Vic Fangiel
- 5:49Speaker 1: for the second straight week, Greg has blitzed at a
- 5:51Speaker 1: fairly high rate. I think you had the numbers on
- 5:54Speaker 1: how many five man pressures he threw.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Yeah, and they rushed five or more on fourteen Stafford's
- 6:00Speaker 3: thirty four dropbacks, and Stafford had eight completions, but only
- 6:04Speaker 3: for fifty two yards, and only three of those completions
- 6:07Speaker 3: resulted in first downs. That's the key point. But the
- 6:09Speaker 3: thing that I really noticed, which you know was often
- 6:12Speaker 3: the case with Fanjo is he increases his pressure frequency
- 6:15Speaker 3: in the second half very often. Now, don't forget they
- 6:18Speaker 3: were down and maybe he felt he needed to create,
- 6:21Speaker 3: but he he definitely increased his pressure frequency in the
- 6:25Speaker 3: second half.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Yeah, fourteen for thirty four you said fourteen.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Fourteen out of thirty four drop backs.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Yeah, that's forty one percent, which is way higher to
- 6:35Speaker 1: twenty percent. So both of these defensive coordinators felt that
- 6:38Speaker 1: they really needed to pressure.
- 6:41Speaker 2: In this game.
- 6:42Speaker 5: Now, I'll ask you this.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I felt that Matthew Stafford missed about five or six throws,
- 6:49Speaker 1: not because of pressure though, maybe the greed, maybe the
- 6:52Speaker 1: perception of it, but he just misthrows that he typically makes.
- 6:55Speaker 3: I agree, he missthrows he doesn't normally miss and again,
- 6:59Speaker 3: you know, you don't know why he just missed him.
- 7:02Speaker 3: I mean, there are games he never misses those throws,
- 7:06Speaker 3: but he did miss him, you know now. But he
- 7:11Speaker 3: did make a great throa at Adams on the forty
- 7:13Speaker 3: four yard touchdown. There was a great example of how
- 7:15Speaker 3: they are deployment of motion because they understand how the
- 7:18Speaker 3: Eagles play when they're in their quarter's look. So you
- 7:23Speaker 3: know what they did is they motioned Whittington across the
- 7:27Speaker 3: formation outside of Adams to the quarter's side of what
- 7:31Speaker 3: was cover six. Cover six means it's quarters to the
- 7:37Speaker 3: wide side of the field and it's cover two to
- 7:40Speaker 3: the short side of the field. So they motioned him
- 7:42Speaker 3: across the formation to the quarter side outside of Adams
- 7:47Speaker 3: because they know that the corner in the Eagles quarters
- 7:51Speaker 3: will always run with number one vertical. So Whittington became
- 7:55Speaker 3: number one vertical. So that means that that Mitchell basically
- 8:01Speaker 3: ran with him. So now Adams ran his go route
- 8:04Speaker 3: from the slot. So now he's running it on blanket ship.
- 8:09Speaker 3: By the way, the game in the high red zone
- 8:12Speaker 3: of blankets. You made a great play. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, no, Jeff.
- 8:15Speaker 4: On the point about Stafford, there was a throw I
- 8:17Speaker 4: point out on a postgame show. He wasn't pressured. He
- 8:20Speaker 4: just just he just turned his body throwing it for
- 8:22Speaker 4: no reason and the ball sailed like that's you know now,
- 8:26Speaker 4: As Greg said, we'll never really know why. Sometimes pressure
- 8:30Speaker 4: might be the guys that who knows. But it is
- 8:32Speaker 4: interesting before we get started here that he goes all
- 8:36Speaker 4: of a sudden becomes some sort of a quasi pressure team.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Why because they don't rush the passuer well enough with
- 8:41Speaker 4: their normal with their normal guys. It's just they're not
- 8:44Speaker 4: good enough rushing the passer. Beg's retirement, melt Williams is
- 8:48Speaker 4: now in New England. Sweat's gone.
- 8:49Speaker 3: It just don't you know, I don't think they've gotten
- 8:52Speaker 3: what they've hoped for, and it could change. It's three games.
- 8:55Speaker 3: They haven't gotten what they hope for from a Dromo
- 8:58Speaker 3: replacing Williams, because Davis is playing a lot of snaps,
- 9:02Speaker 3: you know, it's playing more snaps than I don't know
- 9:05Speaker 3: whether they thought he'd play. But as good as he's
- 9:08Speaker 3: been as a run defender, and he's been very good
- 9:11Speaker 3: through three games, he's still not really an accomplished.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Pass rusher, right right.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Another stat I found interesting. I believe in this game
- 9:20Speaker 1: the Rams faced third and five or longer only three
- 9:24Speaker 1: times the entire game, which shows you how well they
- 9:27Speaker 1: did running a ball and staying ahead of the sticks.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Because Adam, you and I we were sort of coming
- 9:31Speaker 1: down a little bit on the pass rush after the game,
- 9:34Speaker 1: giving our instant reaction to it, and then when I
- 9:37Speaker 1: went back and looked, I said, well, if you're not
- 9:39Speaker 1: getting the offense and third and long, it's kind of
- 9:41Speaker 1: hard to have a good pass rush. It really started
- 9:43Speaker 1: with their run defense, not it hurts getting them in
- 9:46Speaker 1: that kind of territory.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Again, we're very good on third down in this game.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Oh yeah, they executed pretty well, did they not?
- 9:55Speaker 2: I can give you the stats in just two seconds here.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Maybe I'm wrong, Yeah.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Third down, the rams were three of ten.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't think that were very good, correct, Yeah.
- 10:05Speaker 5: But I would say most of them and the crazy.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Things, most of them.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Were third and five and shorter that they were executing on.
- 10:14Speaker 1: And that goes back to Matthew Stafford missing about five
- 10:17Speaker 1: balls that he like normally makes.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Yeah, he missed some throws that were very surprising.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Yeah, it happens.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Okay, Hey, you know that one guy in the group
- 10:26Speaker 1: chat who hit a five leg parlay week one and
- 10:29Speaker 1: he wouldn't shut up about it for the rest of
- 10:31Speaker 1: the season.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Sounds like kaplan, right, Yeah, yeah, it.

- 13:00Speaker 1: standpoint or a player individual. Well.
- 13:02Speaker 3: One of the things I've noticed throughout the first three games,
- 13:04Speaker 3: and I think you'll continue to see it, and I
- 13:06Speaker 3: think it gives them tremendous flexibility is the fact that
- 13:09Speaker 3: mccuba can match up when they do go cover one
- 13:13Speaker 3: and teams go three by one set. He can match
- 13:16Speaker 3: up to number three to Trips so they can play
- 13:19Speaker 3: cover one even if number three to Trips is a
- 13:21Speaker 3: wide out. In this game. He matched up to Adams
- 13:23Speaker 3: one time, but he can match up to a wide receiver.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Who's when I say number three for people who don't
- 13:29Speaker 3: know what that means, that's the receiver closest to the formation.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Receivers are number from the outside in, so the most
- 13:35Speaker 3: outside is number one, the next guy's number two, the
- 13:38Speaker 3: guy closest is number three. So mccuba can match up
- 13:41Speaker 3: because he first of all, he has experience playing slot
- 13:45Speaker 3: in his college career, but he's also got the ability
- 13:48Speaker 3: to do that. So that really gives them tremendous flexibility
- 13:52Speaker 3: in their nickel package because they don't really play a
- 13:54Speaker 3: lot of dying.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Right, all right, I want to highlight something that you
- 13:58Speaker 1: were talking about with m's motion and how it gave
- 14:01Speaker 1: the Eagles.
- 14:01Speaker 2: I'm sure they do this to some other teams.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Oh I'm waiting. I'm waiting to do a piece on it.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Oh nice.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Well, here we'll get an early app that because you're
- 14:09Speaker 1: already teasing this on how it gets read blanket ship
- 14:12Speaker 1: involved in coverage and so this is the Devanta Adams
- 14:15Speaker 1: forty four.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Yeah, so you'll see Whittington from the top of the
- 14:18Speaker 3: screen is gonna motion all the way across the formation.
- 14:21Speaker 3: And as I said, Eagles are playing cover two to
- 14:24Speaker 3: the wide side of the field. So actually this is
- 14:26Speaker 3: cover This is I believe cover eight, not cover six.
- 14:29Speaker 3: So so it's cover eight not Yeah. So so they're
- 14:34Speaker 3: gonna he's gonna motion outside of Adams. So look at Mitchell.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Now he's widening because what happens now is Whittington, based
- 14:42Speaker 3: on his release, becomes number one and the Eagles in
- 14:45Speaker 3: their quarters, which is they're playing to the short side
- 14:48Speaker 3: of the field. He now Mitchell now has Whittington because
- 14:52Speaker 3: that's the way the Eagles teach it. The corner and
- 14:54Speaker 3: quarters has one vertical. So he's reacting to Whittington. And
- 14:59Speaker 3: now Adams is running his round on blanket ships because
- 15:04Speaker 3: in quarters, the safety is responsible for too vertical. So
- 15:09Speaker 3: now blanken ship's got to play too vertical. Mm hmm.
- 15:12Speaker 4: They got the matchup they wanted, got the matchup they wanted.
- 15:15Speaker 1: And the episode last episode, we showed how Jalen Hurts
- 15:18Speaker 1: threw a ball before his receiver was open.
- 15:21Speaker 2: And here's another example.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I mean, Matthew's letting it fly right now, trusting that
- 15:25Speaker 1: it is going to make a play.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Great throw, great ball. I mean that's just, you know,
- 15:31Speaker 3: that's just really good football. I mean you get the
- 15:33Speaker 3: matchup you want and you know it worked.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:37Speaker 1: I mean, I guess the really impressive thing is that
- 15:40Speaker 1: I feel like Reid was you know, a yard or
- 15:42Speaker 1: two the yeah, but he really did not could not close.
- 15:48Speaker 2: It's not like Devanta Adams runs of four to three either.
- 15:50Speaker 3: But no, but he's you know, he's a wide receiver.
- 15:52Speaker 3: You know.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Also this is he pushed off a little bit, yeah,
- 15:55Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Yeah, but they although not although not as bad as
- 15:58Speaker 3: a j Brown and his catch down.
- 16:01Speaker 4: I remember sitting in your office many years with Jaws
- 16:04Speaker 4: and we would talk about a penalty and you guys
- 16:05Speaker 4: would go, oh, wasn't a pedalt because they didn't call it?
- 16:07Speaker 3: You're right, just make me laugh. But I mean that's
- 16:11Speaker 3: just you know, understanding how the Eagles play and getting
- 16:13Speaker 3: the match up, you know. And by the way, things
- 16:15Speaker 3: like this happen in every game. Not all the time
- 16:18Speaker 3: do they convert, you know, so people probably think, well,
- 16:21Speaker 3: you know, why don't they do this every single time?
- 16:23Speaker 3: Or how could the Eagles let this happen? You know,
- 16:25Speaker 3: they're you know, there's coverages that people understand how teams
- 16:30Speaker 3: play coverages. That doesn't mean that every play works against it, you.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Know, right.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I think this is where Adams pointed about when you
- 16:38Speaker 1: play that kind of coverage, you expect to get a
- 16:41Speaker 1: better four man rush, and Stafford was well protected. Stafford
- 16:44Speaker 1: had to speed up his clock on that throw or
- 16:46Speaker 1: at someone in his face. Maybe it's not an easy throw, but.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Or maybe it doesn't even attempt that throw and he

- 18:58Speaker 1: one and up.
- 19:00Speaker 3: But like I said, just to be fair to Blankenship
- 19:02Speaker 3: because I don't want people to think, you know, we're
- 19:04Speaker 3: not ripping blanken Ship. By the way, But later in
- 19:07Speaker 3: the game in the high red zone, you know they
- 19:11Speaker 3: it was off motion again. They got the Adams Blankenship
- 19:13Speaker 3: matchup on third and two in the high red zone
- 19:15Speaker 3: in the middle of the fourth quarter, and I'm not
- 19:18Speaker 3: sure if there was a block field goal that followed
- 19:21Speaker 3: that play. I can't remember, but Adams ran the slot fade,
- 19:24Speaker 3: but this time Blankenship made the play.
- 19:28Speaker 2: All right.
- 19:28Speaker 1: We talked about some of the edge setting issues. This
- 19:31Speaker 1: was a run by Blake Korum for ten yards.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's to the side of the nickel and
- 19:37Speaker 3: you can see the gene right there.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:39Speaker 1: So I have to ask you watching the Rams zone runs,
- 19:42Speaker 1: do they run like mid zone because it doesn't look
- 19:44Speaker 1: like the same kind of forty nine ers outside zone.
- 19:47Speaker 3: But normally, if it's funny, they normally over the last
- 19:50Speaker 3: couple of years. And I don't know if McVeigh just
- 19:53Speaker 3: made a change based on his sense of defenses or
- 19:56Speaker 3: if it was specific to what he believes Hiron Williams's
- 19:59Speaker 3: strength are. But they have moved away from being a
- 20:03Speaker 3: predominant zone running team to being much more of a
- 20:06Speaker 3: duo type team. So this is I don't want to
- 20:09Speaker 3: say it's an aberration. It's not as if they never
- 20:11Speaker 3: run zone, but that is not their foundation as it
- 20:14Speaker 3: was when they had Tidd Gurley.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Right, and for those duo is when you get double.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Teams right from your double teams right in the minner
- 20:20Speaker 1: alignment on the defensive tackles.
- 20:22Speaker 3: It's more of a be considered more of a zone concept,
- 20:25Speaker 3: whereas gaps team where you pull someone is considered a
- 20:28Speaker 3: man concept.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Right. But you're right.
- 20:30Speaker 1: We mentioned that in the pregame show that the Rams
- 20:32Speaker 1: typically run inside.
- 20:34Speaker 5: They run a lot like the Eagles.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Right in this game, they seem to be able to
- 20:38Speaker 1: run kind of these mid zones and then get to
- 20:40Speaker 1: the outside and here's Korum. I think Korum turns the
- 20:44Speaker 1: corner really quickly, maybe even a little bit more.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I know that you know that there's no one
- 20:49Speaker 3: there because you know, Degene was tight to the formation
- 20:51Speaker 3: inside and pretty easily taken care of. You know, it
- 20:56Speaker 3: appears to me on this play, I thought Gory but
- 21:00Speaker 3: ahead he probably should have been the edge setter, but
- 21:03Speaker 3: you know, because there's no one else there to really
- 21:05Speaker 3: set the edge.
- 21:06Speaker 4: They had five guys to block three Yeah yeah.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Right, Like, so so you think a Doory should come
- 21:11Speaker 1: down sooner here right the edge corner.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean I don't think he's misaligned, Jeff. So,
- 21:18Speaker 3: I mean, basically, he's not gonna come down and press
- 21:21Speaker 3: eighty eight.
- 21:22Speaker 5: I mean, so you know, no, I know, I just
- 21:24Speaker 5: went like as soon as the ball snapped and that.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Maybe it looks like he's back pedaling going to it,
- 21:29Speaker 1: but that's what corners sometimes.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Yeah. No, I don't, I don't. I don't view this
- 21:32Speaker 3: as his mistake.
- 21:33Speaker 4: No, Okay, and you notice Korm's playing more and more
- 21:36Speaker 4: and more where he was a non factor last year.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Yeah, he looks good. Yeah.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Yeah, Cooper really gets caught up in between here. I mean,
- 21:43Speaker 1: maybe he should have been I don't know. Again, maybe
- 21:45Speaker 1: it's just a good play call, but.
- 21:47Speaker 3: It might have been guy play call against this particular front.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Yeah, four guys basically the left tackle, the tight end,
- 21:55Speaker 1: and two reduced receivers blocking alignment, and there four on
- 22:01Speaker 1: two and then one.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Back in sixty seven? Is that the left guard? Kidded it?
- 22:08Speaker 3: Your dead itch? Yeah, he does a nice job here.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Is that Is that on Davis?
- 22:13Speaker 4: Uh?
- 22:13Speaker 2: That is Carter?
- 22:14Speaker 3: Carter. He does a nice job on Carter.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Yeah, he does. That's a good point.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Wow.
- 22:20Speaker 3: And then that's actually the tough one on one block
- 22:22Speaker 3: because if Carter were to beat him right across his face,
- 22:25Speaker 3: that would make it a tougher run.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Right, And I think that's the left guard.
- 22:28Speaker 5: Is that the left guard?
- 22:30Speaker 4: That might be That might be Davis ninety's Davis? Right.
- 22:34Speaker 1: I can't say yeah, but I thought I thought I
- 22:36Speaker 1: saw Dreads there, so I thought it was.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Jill and Garda.
- 22:39Speaker 3: I can't tell you run this.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Well, that's definitely who.
- 22:42Speaker 5: He didn't get out of the traffic first, and.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Then he's so far inside that right. Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 2: The corm hats some nice runs in this game.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Always carries a couple of guys with him before he
- 22:55Speaker 1: goes down the Yeah.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Excellent player.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Well, I don't say excellent, but he he was an
- 23:00Speaker 1: excellent college player, and I feel like this offense suits fitting.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Well.
- 23:05Speaker 3: He's got a little.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Bit more juice than Karen Williams.
- 23:07Speaker 3: But I mean they just signed Karen Williams. I mean
- 23:10Speaker 3: going to be He's going to be the compliment.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Well, you know, after they ran Todd Grilliams of the ground,
- 23:15Speaker 1: maybe they felt like, even when you do give an
- 23:16Speaker 1: extension to a guy, you could.
- 23:18Speaker 3: So maybe get more snaps because you know, Williams had
- 23:22Speaker 3: three hundred and sixteen carries a year ago, and he's
- 23:24Speaker 3: not a big man.
- 23:25Speaker 4: He's had a lot of injuries, you.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Know, right, all right, good, this last one, this is
- 23:29Speaker 1: just the Stafford overthrow to I believe was Nikua on
- 23:33Speaker 1: the left side.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah. And I don't know what to say
- 23:37Speaker 3: about this. He's he's always you know, you gotta hit this.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Now.
- 23:41Speaker 1: The Eagles blitz but they picked it up so well.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I mean the Rams really gave him all sorts of protection.
- 23:46Speaker 1: He threw off his back foot.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Yes, is normally this is normally pitching catch Stafford third
- 23:52Speaker 3: down too.
- 23:53Speaker 1: And that's where it popped into my head because you
- 23:55Speaker 1: say it a lot, Greg, it's not.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Always pressure, it's the perception.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Right.
- 23:59Speaker 1: He knew he was getting blitzed, and for whatever reason,
- 24:03Speaker 1: he just kind of kind of popped it off his.
- 24:06Speaker 3: There's no rhyme or reason to plays like this. He
- 24:08Speaker 3: just missed a routine throw.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Yeah, this is one where I think he turns his body.
- 24:12Speaker 4: This is the one I was talking about. He turns
- 24:14Speaker 4: his body for no reason.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Yeah, all right.
- 24:17Speaker 1: That is a look at the defense for the Eagles
- 24:21Speaker 1: here in their thirty three twenty six win for Greg Cosell.
- 24:26Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Mosher alongside Adam Kaplan, and of course we
- 24:29Speaker 1: thank you for watching Inside the Tape with Greg Cosell.
