- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think so much for being here Friday.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: May 22nd.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, we're talking about the Jaguar's past rush.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of folks are pretty ticked off about the perceived lack of the Jaguars trying to upgrade their past rush over the off season.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: I can understand it to an extent.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: I can also understand where the Jaguars are coming from.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm going to give you my take on what the Jaguars see.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: And what I see here with this defensive front and defensive as a whole when it comes to disrupting the quarterback.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: Excited to get into it.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.

- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: Look good.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: Well, doing it.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button helps out a ton.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much for being here.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: So here's what I believe the jack wars are thinking when it comes to their past rush.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: in 2026.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: They believe strongly in Josh Heinz Allen, as they should, one of the better overall defensive ends and football and somebody who knows how to sack the quarterback and get a lot, a lot, a lot of pressure on the quarterback.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: There's no question about that in my mind.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the one piece that I think should not be debated, should not be disputed like, yes,
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: Then you have the fact that they believe strongly and travel on Walker, not only his character, you know, just battling, battling, to get back on the field with a broken hand, dealing with the lower body injury as well throughout the season, and performing admirably.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: But they know he can rush the passer better than he did for most of last year, because most of last year he was playing through at least one injury if not multiple, right?
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I think they believe strongly in Trayvon Walker.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: And why shouldn't they?
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: And why shouldn't they believe strongly in both of these guys?
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Heinz Allen and Trayvon Walker, they have led the League in Sacks as a duo before.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: They have put up a ton of pressures.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: They have both had double digit.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Trayvon Walker, I strongly believe he would have had a third straight double digit sack season in 2025 had he not had the injuries.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: I really feel that way.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: So, Trayvon, Josh Hines Allen, they believe strongly in these guys up front, right?
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think they also believe in Eric Armstead and look, Eric Armstead's another player that prior to his hand injury was playing really, really well as a past-rusher specifically.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: You look at what Eric Armstead was doing earlier on in the season and he was performing, again,
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't remember the exact week that he had his hand injury, but if you look through the first 11 weeks of the season, against Carolina, he had two pressures, one quarterback hit.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: Against the Bengals, he had three pressures, a sack, two hurries.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: He had against the Texans, two pressures and a sack.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: Against the 49ers, Murray's getting a little feisty over here.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: Six pressures and a sack.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: against the chiefs didn't have a huge pass rush game had a good run defense game and usually you saw this like when he wasn't asked to heat up the quarterback as much when he was asked more to defend the run he had really good games in the run defense department only had one pressure against Kansas City they're getting the ball out quick and run in the ball a fair amount but against Seattle three pressures in a sack against
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: And this is an interior password, you're not getting, unless you're like Aaron Donald, you're not getting sacks all the dang time.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: Jeffrey Simmons, against the raiders, four pressures, against the Texans, six pressures, and a sack, against the chargers, three pressures, and a sack, against the cardinals the next weekend, seven pressures, things kind of slowed down after that for him.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: And again, I think that's because of the hand injury, but he's still as a,
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: interior devens of Lyman had 49 pressures in six acts, including the playoffs, only one pressure against the bills, but again, that was a monster run defense game for air crumbs to go back and watch it.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they believe in air crumbs dead pretty strongly.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's why he's still here.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's why instead of being opposed to one cut like everybody predicted, he's still in Jacksonville, right?
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: And then you talk about the rest of the pieces.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: from a defensive front standpoint.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: Devon Hamilton, great run stuff for not providing much as a past Russia.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: Albert Regis, I think, is in the same department there.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: Although I think they think he might have a little bit more juice with his athleticism might have some more potential.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think they strongly believe Rook Aurora Row is going to heat up the interior pass rush.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I get it, like, he was a pretty productive pass rusher and he's really good on games and stunts, which I think they're gonna employ a lot up front for the Jaguar's defense Anthony Campanile.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: He really knows how to utilize and deploy a lot of different diverse fronts on the defensive line.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then you also look at the fact that I think between Danny Strigo, Wesley Williams, B.J.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: Green, Zactor, they got guys that they kind of believe that somebody will step up.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they believe it'll be Danny Strigo because he's a good football player.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: He showed he was a good football player last year.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think B.J.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: Green showed a lot too.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: But I honestly think that they're betting that between Josh Hines Allen,
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: and Rook Aurora row in big past rushing moments that they are going to get the job done.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm with them.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: I am.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm with them there.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: I really believe in that.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think Josh and Dallin and Trayvon Walker could very easily lead the league in Sax as they do it again.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: That would not shock me at all.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: And part of the big problem with the past rush that Liam Cohen and Tony Vicelli have both addressed publicly this off season is that quarterbacks were able to get rid of the ball too quickly.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I know I talk about this all the time.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: But when you combine getting rid of Greg Newsom, who was not suited for the Jaguar's defense, we'll just leave it at that.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: That subtraction combined with the addition of Travis Hunter at corner.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: the return of bus to round at corner.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think quarterbacks are going to be as comfortable getting rid of the ball as quickly as they were in 2025.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: Straight up, and I think that is gonna help the pass rush as much as anything.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: As much as Eric Arm said, and Trayvon Walker being actually healthy.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter's presence is going to help that pass rush in a big, big way.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: strongly feel that way.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: I cannot overstate how much I think that specifically Greg knew some not really being very fundamentally sound or comfortable as an off-zone corner debilitated the Jaguar's coverage against really good teams.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: Not against crappy teams.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: Against most of the crappy teams that were fine in coverage.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: But again, it's like the bills, right?
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: It was just problematic.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: Again, you look at Greg Newsom.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Again, in those big games down the stretch, he just struggled.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: He just struggled.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: Again, it's the Broncos.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: He loud four catches on four targets for 51 yards.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like a huge number, but when you're getting easy first downs, you know where you can go with the ball, that's tough, against the bills, five targets, five receptions, fifty nine yards, it's hard to win that way, when you have a corner back that is such a liability and you're taking a liability and turning it into a strength, making it so quarterbacks are not going to be as comfortable getting rid of the ball as quick, if you're getting rid of the ball that quick, you're going to just Travis Hunter, he's going to get his hands on one of them.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: Just tell me, so I can't wait to see it.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty bullish about the Jaguars as a whole.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're absolutely a Super Bowl contender.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're the best team and they have C-South.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I think their past rush is going to show up this year.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: And in large part due to health, in large part due to Travis Hunter.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the addition of Rook does matter, actually do.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: So really appreciate y'all being here.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have good one.
