Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, January 6th.
• 0:11
Choose his way over yours. Have you ever felt the pressure
• 0:14
to have it all figured out? To know exactly where you're
• 0:17
going, who you're becoming, and how everything will work out?
• 0:20
Maybe you've been told just trust yourself or follow your
• 0:23
heart. That sounds empowering, but deep
• 0:25
down it can also feel exhausting.
• 0:28
Carrying the weight of every decision on your own shoulders
• 0:30
can leave you anxious, restless, and worn down.
• 0:34
Proverbs chapter 3, verses 7 to 8 speaks right into that
• 0:37
tension. It says be not wise in your own
• 0:40
eyes, fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
• 0:43
It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
• 0:47
God isn't trying to limit you. He's inviting you to rest.
• 0:50
When we stop pretending we know best and choose to honor Him
• 0:53
  instead, something shifts inside us.
• 0:56
  There's healing, there's relief, there's a piece that reaches
• 0:59
places no self help advice ever could.
• 1:02
Psalm 4 reminds us of something just as powerful verse 3 says.
• 1:07
But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself.
• 1:10
The Lord hears when I call to him.
• 1:12
That means you're not lost in the noise.
• 1:14
You don't have to fight for attention or prove your worth.
• 1:17
When you pray, really pray, God hears you.
• 1:20
You are seen, known, and set apart by Him.
• 1:22
Then we look at Matthew chapter 3 where Jesus is baptized.
• 1:26
This moment is striking because Jesus didn't need to do this.
• 1:30
He was without sin, and yet he chose humility and obedience.
• 1:34
And the moment he came up from the water, heaven opened.
• 1:37
The Spirit of God descended like a dove, and God affirmed him.
• 1:41
Obedience opened the door to divine confirmation.
• 1:44
Choosing God's way won't always be popular or easy.
• 1:48
Sometimes it won't even make sense to the people around you.
• 1:51
But it always leads to life. It leads to clarity, peace, and
• 1:54
purpose. When you choose His way over
• 1:57
your own, you're not losing control.
• 1:58
You're placing your life in the safest hands possible.
• 2:02
Let's pray. Heavenly Father, help me release
• 2:04
the need to be wise in my own eyes.
• 2:07
Teach me to trust You, to honor You, and to turn away from
• 2:10
anything that pulls me from Your path.
• 2:13
Thank You for hearing me when I call and for setting me apart as
• 2:15
Yours. Give me the courage to choose
• 2:17
obedience, even when it's uncomfortable or misunderstood.
• 2:21
Shape my heart to follow Your way above all else, in Jesus
• 2:24
name, Amen. What if the ache you feel for
• 2:28
more is actually God calling you deeper?
• 2:31

• 4:11
Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
• 4:13

• 4:16

• 4:22
set apart for himself him who is godly.
• 4:24
Yahweh will hear when I call to Him.
• 4:26

• 4:29
bed and be still. Selah Offer the sacrifices of
• 4:32
righteousness. Put your trust in Yahweh.
• 4:35
Many say who will show us any good?
• 4:37
Yahweh, let the light of your face shine on us.
• 4:40
You have put gladness in my heart more than when their grain
• 4:42
and their new wine are increased.
• 4:44
In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep for you alone.
• 4:48
Yahweh make me live in safety. Matthew Chapter 3 World English
• 4:52
Bible In those days John the Baptizer came preaching in the
• 4:55
wilderness of Judea saying Repent for the Kingdom of heaven
• 4:58
is at hand. For this is he who was spoken of
• 5:01
by Isaiah the prophet, saying, the voice of one crying in the
• 5:05
wilderness, make the way of the Lord ready, make his path
• 5:07
straight. Now John himself wore clothing
• 5:10
made of camel's hair with a leather belt around his waist.
• 5:13
His food was locusts and wild honey.
• 5:16
Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region
• 5:19
around the Jordan went out to him.
• 5:21
They were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.
• 5:25
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming
• 5:28
for his baptism, he said to them, You offspring of Vipers,
• 5:32
who warned you to flee from the wrath to come, therefore produce
• 5:35
fruit worthy of repentance. Don't think to yourselves we
• 5:39
have Abraham for our father. For I tell you that God is able
• 5:42
to raise up children to Abraham from these stones even now.
• 5:46
The axe lies at the root of the trees.
• 5:48
Therefore every tree that doesn't produce good fruit is
• 5:50
cut down and cast into the fire. I indeed baptize you in water
• 5:55
for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I,
• 5:59
whose sandals I am not worthy to carry.
• 6:01
He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.
• 6:03
His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly
• 6:06
cleanse his thrashing floor. He will gather his wheat into
• 6:09
the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.
• 6:14
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John to be
• 6:17
baptized by him. But John would have hindered
• 6:19
him, saying, I need to be baptized by you, and you come to
• 6:22
me. But Jesus answering, said to
• 6:25
him, allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to
• 6:28
fulfill all righteousness. Then he allowed him.
• 6:31
Jesus, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water,
• 6:35
and behold, the heavens were open to him.
• 6:38
He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and coming
• 6:41
on him. Behold, a voice out of the
• 6:43
heaven said, This is my beloved son, with whom I am well
• 6:46
pleased. Thanks for joining us on Bible
