- 0:02Speaker 1: Minnesota basketball fans. Welcome back to the Living and Loserville Podcast.
- 0:08Speaker 1: I'm your host, Chris Carlson. Well, it is the podcast
- 0:14Speaker 1: that I did not want to record. I wanted to
- 0:18Speaker 1: record a podcast today today, whatever you look at it,
- 0:21Speaker 1: but it's not the topic or the outcome that we
- 0:26Speaker 1: all wanted as Timberwolves fans. Great game for those watching
- 0:32Speaker 1: from Afar last night. Phenomenal game. Really, it was really
- 0:38Speaker 1: finally they got a competitive game in the series. Of course,
- 0:42Speaker 1: I was very entertaining Game three as a Timberwolves fan,
- 0:46Speaker 1: of course. But yeah, we're gonna talk obviously about last night,
- 0:51Speaker 1: kind of wrap up in a little nutshell, the series
- 0:56Speaker 1: that stands at three to one. The Thunder held off
- 1:02Speaker 1: the Wolves last night. The Betch finally came all the
- 1:07Speaker 1: way through, even more than you could even want or need.
- 1:11Speaker 1: You just sue. But they also, I mean they outscored
- 1:17Speaker 1: the starters, I believe, but Ant and especially Randall just
- 1:24Speaker 1: were inconsistent. Randal more than Ant, But we'll get into that.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Of course, we'll talk about the good, the bad, and
- 1:33Speaker 1: the ugly s g a And and williams Man. They
- 1:38Speaker 1: three out of four games in this series so far,
- 1:42Speaker 1: they played their ass off. So yeah, so we'll start
- 1:46Speaker 1: with the recap and all that, just kind of talk
- 1:50Speaker 1: our way through. Obviously I'm not gonna spend much time
- 1:54Speaker 1: on the first three games, but you know, I haven't
- 1:58Speaker 1: done a show just yet ever since you know, I
- 2:02Speaker 1: did the preview prediction podcasts. So so yeah, like I said,
- 2:07Speaker 1: not the result that Timbrels fans wanted, but we are
- 2:12Speaker 1: finding out a lot about our team. And of course,
- 2:18Speaker 1: you know, you have a lot of nonsense now, whether
- 2:23Speaker 1: it's local or national media saying all sorts of dumb stuff,
- 2:28Speaker 1: right over the top stuff someone posting, you know, something
- 2:34Speaker 1: on Twitter way over the top, or posting something so
- 2:38Speaker 1: therefore trolling, you know, sometimes clearly trolling, so someone will
- 2:44Speaker 1: go over the top in their comment or response. So
- 2:48Speaker 1: we you know, I mean some of the stuff has
- 2:52Speaker 1: been legit out there. Some things that have been said
- 2:58Speaker 1: about Aunt kind of make it scratch your head on
- 3:05Speaker 1: one on one side, kind of like the the family
- 3:11Speaker 1: man thing and the the that Perkins said now off
- 3:18Speaker 1: the court, ant needs to grow up in in some ways,
- 3:21Speaker 1: no doubt about that obviously, right, but the names he
- 3:27Speaker 1: chose Kendrick to to say family men, we're quite interesting. Well,
- 3:35Speaker 1: we'll get to that later in the show. But yeah,
- 3:39Speaker 1: I mean, or you have some folks on the other
- 3:44Speaker 1: side protecting aunt and saying, well, actually, you know, like
- 3:49Speaker 1: as if he doesn't really need to get any better.
- 3:51Speaker 1: You know, I can understand the number of shots he took,
- 3:56Speaker 1: especially in the first half, was pretty eye popping. But
- 4:01Speaker 1: I didn't think he played as garbage as everybody's saying
- 4:08Speaker 1: that said. I don't think he played great or anything either,
- 4:12Speaker 1: But we'll get into it. We'll get into it. If
- 4:15Speaker 1: there's your first time listening to the Living and Loserville podcast, Welcome.

- 5:08Speaker 1: talked about that fifty nine ninety nine for the first month,
- 5:11Speaker 1: that includes Fan Duel and SEC Network. The Ultimate Package,
- 5:15Speaker 1: which includes over one hundred and sixty channels, eighty nine
- 5:18Speaker 1: ninety nine for the first month. Okay, So man, that
- 5:27Speaker 1: one last night, boy, that was a heartbreaker. I'm not
- 5:32Speaker 1: gonna lie, not gonna lie, like I said, Drake game,
- 5:38Speaker 1: but just couldn't get over the hump real quick though.
- 5:41Speaker 1: When you look at what Game one and Game two
- 5:44Speaker 1: came down the third quarters, right, the Wolves in Game
- 5:50Speaker 1: one were up forty eight to forty four at half.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I do believe they could have been up by more.
- 5:57Speaker 1: I think if you look at how Okay see close quarters, right.
- 6:03Speaker 1: We talked about the third quarter, of course, but just
- 6:05Speaker 1: closing the quarter each quarter, I think that they that
- 6:09Speaker 1: was a big key for the series. And even you know,
- 6:15Speaker 1: it's tied sixty to sixty in the third quarter midway through,
- 6:19Speaker 1: Okay See goes on a sixteen to six run to
- 6:23Speaker 1: close it out. You know, we gave up way too
- 6:28Speaker 1: much in the mid range those first two games, Sga
- 6:31Speaker 1: and Williams, Jalen Williams just tearing us up. The bench
- 6:37Speaker 1: was struggling. They couldn't they couldn't find a shot, and
- 6:43Speaker 1: very similar in game two, you know, okay, see closed
- 6:48Speaker 1: on like a little spurt to get up by eight,
- 6:54Speaker 1: and although the Wolves definitely fought back and they you know,
- 6:59Speaker 1: they definitely fought back down the stretch considering it was
- 7:04Speaker 1: but once again that third quarter it went from fifty
- 7:07Speaker 1: eight to fifty to ninety three to seventy one, and
- 7:11Speaker 1: they cut it, you know, within range. But you know,
- 7:16Speaker 1: no fourth quarter for Randall in game two. I think
- 7:22Speaker 1: fourth quarter wise, you didn't see Ruty much in game one,
- 7:25Speaker 1: if I remember correctly, the bench started to show some
- 7:29Speaker 1: life late in the fourth quarter. They started to find
- 7:34Speaker 1: something for Ant out of the post as well. And
- 7:38Speaker 1: I thought Game three obviously the blowoup right what was
- 7:41Speaker 1: it thirty four to fourteen or something like that. In
- 7:45Speaker 1: the first quarter. I liked a couple things right. One,
- 7:49Speaker 1: we were using less zone, which I kind of understand
- 7:53Speaker 1: why you had tried to use the zone and games
- 7:57Speaker 1: won in game two more than you did previous because
- 8:02Speaker 1: you know, Denver had who's not a great defensive team.
- 8:07Speaker 1: They had success with it. You know, we didn't. We didn't.
- 8:12Speaker 1: And when you give the mid range to their two
- 8:15Speaker 1: top scorers that easily in a sense, it's probably gonna
- 8:22Speaker 1: be bad news for you. So you did see Rudy
- 8:25Speaker 1: come up more a little bit higher, which disrupted you know,
- 8:30Speaker 1: some things obviously even got some steals and then more
- 8:34Speaker 1: gap held. Right, So defensively, way more gap help you
- 8:38Speaker 1: could see, and in others, you know, helping out with
- 8:42Speaker 1: the second guy, but then all you know, being that
- 8:45Speaker 1: second guy to take away a drive but also scramble
- 8:48Speaker 1: back to your guy if need be. And it was
- 8:52Speaker 1: very effective. You know, if you look at the free
- 8:54Speaker 1: throws in game one, game two for SGA and then
- 8:58Speaker 1: you look at I think it was four, I think
- 8:59Speaker 1: it was four or four in game three, you know
- 9:03Speaker 1: that was a big difference. Also, you saw and you know,
- 9:10Speaker 1: being able to get sometimes even a double screen, not
- 9:15Speaker 1: bringing the ball up as much and having them coming
- 9:17Speaker 1: out of the post or getting the ball in the post.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I thought that was kind of nice. But you know
- 9:24Speaker 1: in Randall bounce back had a great game, YadA, YadA, YadA.
- 9:29Speaker 1: So it's it's like, all right, do you I don't know,
- 9:32Speaker 1: in some ways by by kicking their ass so much
- 9:35Speaker 1: in game three, did we kind of wake up a beast,
- 9:41Speaker 1: you know, like even more like you know, it's one
- 9:44Speaker 1: thing to to respond, but when you get your ass
- 9:48Speaker 1: kicked by forty plus, that's embarrassing. And it was kind
- 9:53Speaker 1: of like, all right, we're gonna find out what, you know,
- 9:55Speaker 1: what Okay sees all about? And we did last night.
- 9:58Speaker 1: We definitely did. Jaden had it going pretty early, had
- 10:03Speaker 1: a nice little N one dunk by chet Chet did
- 10:07Speaker 1: you know, get his reprotribution. Williams started out red hot
- 10:12Speaker 1: two hit some early threes, Randall in and early turnovers.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I think Randall had three or four fairly early, and
- 10:23Speaker 1: just overall. Ok see, at the four to twenty three mark,
- 10:26Speaker 1: was up twenty two to seventeen, and it was already
- 10:29Speaker 1: six to three turnovers, and then they extended this run
- 10:35Speaker 1: to get into twenty seven to twenty a thirteen to
- 10:39Speaker 1: two overall run, and they were already up eight to
- 10:43Speaker 1: four in rebounds and offensive rebounds were just to killer
- 10:46Speaker 1: between turnovers and rebounds last night, my goodness, gracious, So
- 10:51Speaker 1: it was thirty seven to thirty at the end of
- 10:54Speaker 1: the first the three point shot was keeping us in it.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I think we're five to ten in the first Ant
- 11:02Speaker 1: didn't take a shot in general until he got an
- 11:06Speaker 1: end one where he missed the free throw. But you
- 11:09Speaker 1: know the thing is they were like even overly aggressive
- 11:14Speaker 1: beyond the three point line this time, and so I
- 11:18Speaker 1: thought he actually for a while was making the right
- 11:22Speaker 1: pass and at times was really I thought he was
- 11:24Speaker 1: still making the right pass, you know. So I wasn't
- 11:31Speaker 1: freaking way out when he only had one shot in
- 11:34Speaker 1: the first quarter. Sga, you know, bounced right back thirteen
- 11:39Speaker 1: points five to six from the field, and like I said,
- 11:42Speaker 1: Williams was hot right away. But you know, you're shooting
- 11:46Speaker 1: sixty three percent after the first and you're down, you know.
- 11:49Speaker 1: You also, you know, had seven turnovers, so Randall picked
- 11:54Speaker 1: up a pretty quick fall. I think he had like
- 11:57Speaker 1: two turnovers in a short amount of time and then
- 11:59Speaker 1: two fouls. The bench is going crazy though, as we know,
- 12:04Speaker 1: in the second corner, literally twenty to five bench points.
- 12:08Speaker 1: All four players that came up the bench was you know,
- 12:11Speaker 1: definitely contribute, you know, putting in their contributions, contributing greatly.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Shannon came in in like a few minutes, like three minutes,
- 12:22Speaker 1: boomed seven points again, and that was nice to see
- 12:25Speaker 1: him in back to back games do that. And let's
- 12:32Speaker 1: see so somewhere in so it's fit. Okay, sees up
- 12:40Speaker 1: fifty seven to fifty one under five minutes, right, the
- 12:43Speaker 1: rebound count is sixteen to eight and eight sixteen to
- 12:48Speaker 1: half of those were offensive rebounds were okay, see the
- 12:51Speaker 1: bench still going crazy at that time it was thirty
- 12:54Speaker 1: to thirteen. But so at sixty five to fifty seven
- 12:58Speaker 1: and a half, the s ros half thirteen fucking turnovers
- 13:02Speaker 1: at half, I mean, so you're not rebounding the ball,
- 13:07Speaker 1: you can't buy an offensive or a defensive rebound, and
- 13:11Speaker 1: a fair amount of times they were playing good defense
- 13:14Speaker 1: and just couldn't. That's the that's how you shut the
- 13:17Speaker 1: door on a good defensive possession. Though you get the rebound.
- 13:21Speaker 1: And I know it is more difficult at times some
- 13:24Speaker 1: you know in nowadays game because of so many threes
- 13:28Speaker 1: that the ball does come off kind of crazy now more,
- 13:31Speaker 1: but still there's just no excuse for it. At half,
- 13:35Speaker 1: Randall in Ant combined for nine points, and you know
- 13:39Speaker 1: Randall did like it seemed like, you know, he was
- 13:47Speaker 1: turning the ball over early and often. Right then it
- 13:51Speaker 1: did seem like he's like, all right, I'm not going
- 13:53Speaker 1: to force anything, but you could see he was. He
- 13:58Speaker 1: just couldn't get anything to go, whether it was a
- 14:00Speaker 1: driving layup that he's been finishing at a high rate
- 14:04Speaker 1: or just a little step back, a little dribble in,
- 14:06Speaker 1: a little fade, step back, couldn't get it going. And
- 14:10Speaker 1: he definitely had thought along with some other players, but
- 14:13Speaker 1: especially Randall because he just had a horrible game, you know,
- 14:16Speaker 1: and it's been either a really good game or a
- 14:18Speaker 1: bad game. That's two and two now, two really good
- 14:21Speaker 1: games and two really bad games. It felt like he
- 14:24Speaker 1: was frustrated that he wasn't getting the calls. And of
- 14:27Speaker 1: course you're gonna have frustration, but you kind of got
- 14:31Speaker 1: to take it out on the game and channel it.
- 14:35Speaker 1: And I don't think he did a good job of that.
- 14:38Speaker 1: We had Dork getting his fourth fall really early. We're
- 14:43Speaker 1: right in the game at sixty eight sixty four, and
- 14:46Speaker 1: had some silly turnovers, started to kind of sleep walk
- 14:49Speaker 1: at times on defense. I thought little seven er run
- 14:56Speaker 1: kind of midway through pushed the lead to nine. For okay, See,
- 15:00Speaker 1: he nah was going crazy that. I mean, Alexander Walker
- 15:03Speaker 1: had his game. Man. People were saying that that's his
- 15:07Speaker 1: last Target Center game, which you know it could be.
- 15:11Speaker 1: He went off. I mean he was going off. You know,
- 15:15Speaker 1: in like eleven minutes he had fourteen points I think
- 15:18Speaker 1: four or four from three, and there was some really
- 15:21Speaker 1: good ball movement at that time all the way to
- 15:24Speaker 1: the point where I think it was an eleven three run.
- 15:27Speaker 1: We tied it up seventy nine, seventy nine. You could
- 15:30Speaker 1: see Rudy was like he had a really good third quarter.
- 15:34Speaker 1: He was up to I think he had like eight
- 15:35Speaker 1: or ten in that quarter, was getting rebounds and things
- 15:40Speaker 1: were We're looking up you know, now here's the key, okay,
- 15:47Speaker 1: see kept answering the bell even when we tied it up. Boom,
- 15:54Speaker 1: nice little run to get up a little bit. You know,
- 15:58Speaker 1: Dante started really heating up up. But you're looking at
- 16:03Speaker 1: it right. It's with two minutes left of that third quarter.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Chet had a nice spin dunk. It was nineteen to
- 16:13Speaker 1: nine on turnovers. Now the Timberwolves, it was nineteen and
- 16:16Speaker 1: eighteen points out turnovers at that time. But speaking of spin,
- 16:22Speaker 1: like I said, Chet had a nice spin dunk. So
- 16:24Speaker 1: did na Alexander Walker had that spin reverse spin layup.
- 16:28Speaker 1: He's like spun went the other way. But yeah, you
- 16:33Speaker 1: know it just Randall could not get anything to go.
- 16:37Speaker 1: And like I said, he just he just didn't couldn't
- 16:41Speaker 1: really give us much in the fourth quard at all.
- 16:44Speaker 1: He really couldn't. It was ninety to eighty five though,
- 16:47Speaker 1: anyone's game heading into the fourth. They flashed a stat
- 16:54Speaker 1: pretty early in the fourth seventeen offensive rebounds, okay see.
- 17:02Speaker 1: And to give them credit, man, they kept answering. Every
- 17:06Speaker 1: time NASA is making really good hustle plays. We get
- 17:09Speaker 1: it to back to five, they push it out, we
- 17:12Speaker 1: get it a little closer, they push it out to seven.
- 17:15Speaker 1: We got to one O nine, one o six from
- 17:17Speaker 1: Dante in and hitting a three I think, boom. They
- 17:20Speaker 1: put it to one one eleven, one o seven or
- 17:23Speaker 1: something like that. One sixteen, one oh nine. You know
- 17:26Speaker 1: it just they kept answering, and so I give them
- 17:30Speaker 1: a lot of credit because when oka See gets a lead, man,
- 17:35Speaker 1: they're they they're not going to give it up much.
- 17:37Speaker 1: And even if you tie the game like we did,
- 17:39Speaker 1: they just kept pushing it and pushing it, and so
- 17:42Speaker 1: you know, they pushed to one O one sixteen one
- 17:45Speaker 1: O nine with three thirty four left right, and then
- 17:49Speaker 1: we get it all the way, you know, getting it
- 17:52Speaker 1: kind of close boom. They they push it back like
- 17:56Speaker 1: we get it to four, they go back and hit
- 17:58Speaker 1: it twelve foot jumpers and Williams we we uh, we
- 18:02Speaker 1: have a driving layup. That may have been the spin boom.
- 18:05Speaker 1: They come right back with a three. McDaniels makes the layup.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Now mcdania's hit another three, and it was one twenty
- 18:13Speaker 1: three one, and at that time I believe that's when
- 18:19Speaker 1: Alexander kind of hit Oh no, that was that was
- 18:24Speaker 1: the play before actually where Nah got hit in the uh.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I think he got hit in the neck. I think
- 18:34Speaker 1: that was a little bit earlier and they didn't call it.
- 18:39Speaker 1: And you know what's sga hit the hit the jumper
- 18:45Speaker 1: either way, you know, McDaniel's hits that three and it's
- 18:50Speaker 1: one and there's only twenty three seconds left that you're like, dude,
- 18:56Speaker 1: this could happen. You know, we got it the one
- 19:00Speaker 1: twenty five twenty three again say misses the free throw.
- 19:06Speaker 1: You know, Nas hits two free throws that they fall
- 19:12Speaker 1: instead of you know, which makes sense. I know, a
- 19:14Speaker 1: lot of people are like, they should get rid of that. Yeah,
- 19:16Speaker 1: but dude, if it was on the other side, we
- 19:19Speaker 1: think it was smart. You know. So it's with six
- 19:22Speaker 1: seconds left one twenty eight five, Aunt makes a free
- 19:27Speaker 1: throw then purposely misses it. But it's our ball now.
- 19:31Speaker 1: The point one thing, I do feel like there should
- 19:37Speaker 1: have been a point three or something left. I do
- 19:41Speaker 1: think that they they it could have been a little
- 19:44Speaker 1: bit more. But you know, it is what it is.
- 19:49Speaker 1: It is what it is. You gotta give credit where
- 19:52Speaker 1: credit is due. And you know, starting with Randall, you
- 19:57Speaker 1: know five points, you know, one of seven from the field,
- 20:03Speaker 1: didn't hit a three. Ant was he had sixteen points.
- 20:07Speaker 1: A lot of it was in the second half he
- 20:09Speaker 1: was five or thirteen, didn't shoot that well. But really
- 20:12Speaker 1: he was just one of seven from three. And even
- 20:15Speaker 1: when he had some of those big games. I think
- 20:20Speaker 1: he had one game, I think he was like five
- 20:25Speaker 1: of eight, but there was another game where he was
- 20:27Speaker 1: like one of nine from three. So you do need
- 20:31Speaker 1: better play out of Randall, especially but Aunt two, because
- 20:36Speaker 1: he was getting back door at times. I would say
- 20:40Speaker 1: just overall, okay, c came in statistically as the better
- 20:46Speaker 1: defense and they left the series, you know, showing how
- 20:50Speaker 1: they're on that elite level, and they're just more efficient
- 20:55Speaker 1: on offense as well, that's for sure. The attention to detail,
- 21:03Speaker 1: you know, was not on the same level as Okay
- 21:06Speaker 1: se so you know, I you know, they did, like
- 21:14Speaker 1: I said, they did load up way up on Ant
- 21:17Speaker 1: this this game, even more than they had. But yeah, overall,
- 21:21Speaker 1: the Thunder were just more of a cohesive unit on
- 21:25Speaker 1: both sides of the ball. And Sga is just you know,
- 21:31Speaker 1: he's he's more efficient, you know, he's a more efficient
- 21:38Speaker 1: scorer and playmaker than An. He's just more advanced right
- 21:43Speaker 1: now than An. He just did, you know, and it
- 21:49Speaker 1: is what it is, you know, Like I said, I didn't.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I didn't think the start of the game Ant was
- 21:56Speaker 1: was as bad as people were saying. I really didn't.
- 21:59Speaker 1: And that's not just a whole home that's basically what
- 22:02Speaker 1: they were. They were crashing out on him, you know,
- 22:05Speaker 1: they were really trying to make him get rid of
- 22:07Speaker 1: the ball, and I thought he made the right passes early.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Then I thought he could have been a little bit
- 22:13Speaker 1: more aggressive or just knocked down some shots, you know,
- 22:18Speaker 1: I mean, but we were shooting really well and like
- 22:22Speaker 1: I said, the bench went absolutely nuts, you know, and
- 22:28Speaker 1: so one of the odds that we've been looking for
- 22:30Speaker 1: the bench, looking for the bench, please bench show up.
- 22:34Speaker 1: And you saw them really come alive. I think late
- 22:38Speaker 1: second or late fourth quarter of game two, you could see, okay,
- 22:41Speaker 1: there's some life there. And then obviously it carried over
- 22:44Speaker 1: to game three and definitely I mean, like Naz had
- 22:49Speaker 1: eleven points in six boards doing some dirty work. Evincenzo
- 22:54Speaker 1: had twenty one. He was five of eight from three,
- 22:56Speaker 1: had five assists. I talked about Alexander Walker twenty three points,
- 23:01Speaker 1: five of eight. Shannon had nine points off the bench.
- 23:03Speaker 1: So and we hit you know, eighteen threes, we shot
- 23:08Speaker 1: fifty one point two percent. But you know, you did
- 23:14Speaker 1: have twenty one turnovers. You know that adds up, and
- 23:19Speaker 1: they had fourteen and ultimately they ended up with let's see,
- 23:27Speaker 1: well they ended up with nineteen offensive rebounds, which when
- 23:33Speaker 1: you're the bigger team like we are, that needs to
- 23:37Speaker 1: that needs it not happen. Let's put it that way.
- 23:40Speaker 1: So shouts out to the bench. It would have been
- 23:43Speaker 1: nice if they showed up a little bit, you know,
- 23:45Speaker 1: in one of those first two games. Maybe it'd be
- 23:47Speaker 1: two to two right now, but it's not. And if
- 23:51Speaker 1: you look at it, three out of the four games,
- 23:53Speaker 1: like I mentioned Sga and Williams, they just olt laid
- 24:00Speaker 1: our two guys, you know, our two top two guys Randall.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Like I said, every other game was you know, game one,
- 24:07Speaker 1: Game three, very good, very good, great, but just really
- 24:12Speaker 1: bad too in the other two games. Shouts out to
- 24:16Speaker 1: the rookie Terrence Shannon got him for three more years
- 24:19Speaker 1: as long as we exercise the contract that's kind of
- 24:22Speaker 1: built into the rookie contract. So that's a good sign.
- 24:26Speaker 1: The turnovers, man, wow, you know that was bad, you know,
- 24:37Speaker 1: you know when you look at it, like it's just
- 24:42Speaker 1: we just couldn't we just they I think they got
- 24:45Speaker 1: like eleven more possessions than the Wolves, which comes down
- 24:49Speaker 1: to a variety of things. But when you look at
- 24:52Speaker 1: the Timberwolves, they led the game. And this is from
- 24:55Speaker 1: stat muse, Timberwlves led the game and rebounds, assists, points out, turnovers, fash,
- 24:59Speaker 1: break points in the pain, second chance points, free throw
- 25:02Speaker 1: at times, free throw makes field goal percentage, three point
- 25:05Speaker 1: percentage of free throw percentage. And they didn't they didn't
- 25:10Speaker 1: win the game, you know, so I Uh, it's just
- 25:17Speaker 1: it's one of those things. Man. You know, the bench
- 25:21Speaker 1: outscored the starter sixty four to sixty two. That's wild.
- 25:27Speaker 1: You know, this is h Josh Dubao Dubo Timmeroll shot
- 25:36Speaker 1: fifty one point two and made eighteen threes. Before tonight,
- 25:39Speaker 1: teams that shot fifty percent or better from the floor
- 25:42Speaker 1: and made eighteen threes at least eighteen threes. We're fifty
- 25:45Speaker 1: five and zero in the playoffs. I mean, and then
- 25:52Speaker 1: you can even go further. Like I named, all those
- 25:55Speaker 1: things that we led. Teams entering today are entered today,
- 25:59Speaker 1: owen one ninety all time when they have fewer rebounds,
- 26:04Speaker 1: fur assist, all those things I mentioned in the thunder.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Now it's one in one. I mean, it's and when
- 26:15Speaker 1: you look at the three one stuff, when you're up
- 26:20Speaker 1: three to one, ninety five point six times two hundred
- 26:26Speaker 1: and eighty three and thirteen, that's the percentage of coming
- 26:31Speaker 1: back you're gonna If you're up three to one, there's
- 26:36Speaker 1: a ninety five point six percent chance you're going to
- 26:40Speaker 1: close it out. The last three to one non bubble.
- 26:45Speaker 1: For some odd reason they put the non bubble in there.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I was gonna say, wait a second. It was Cleveland
- 26:50Speaker 1: in the finals in twenty sixteen, a career high for
- 26:55Speaker 1: Jalen Jalen Williams Uh. You know, he thirty four points
- 27:01Speaker 1: career high in the playoffs, Shay was forty ten and nine.
- 27:06Speaker 1: He becomes the fifth player in the NBA history to
- 27:09Speaker 1: record that in the conference final.
- 27:11Speaker 2: And you're looking at it, like I said, you're looking
- 27:13Speaker 2: at it sometimes and you're you're like, dude, we're shooting
- 27:15Speaker 2: sixty eight percent to fifty eight percent, but yet we're
- 27:18Speaker 2: down Charlie Walton at half.
- 27:23Speaker 1: There was a there was a five thirty two mark
- 27:27Speaker 1: right the last field goal came at five thirty two
- 27:32Speaker 1: in that second quarter. You know, it just it just
- 27:37Speaker 1: it was frustrating. You know, it was a frustrating night overall.
- 27:44Speaker 1: When it came to the end of the game. You know,
- 27:49Speaker 1: the most assist in the playoffs, the most points for SGA.
- 27:55Speaker 1: You know, it is what it is all time. When okay,
- 28:00Speaker 1: he's up three to one in this wait, okay, see
- 28:03Speaker 1: is up three to one in the serieses is al
- 28:04Speaker 1: Horton in elimination games Minnesota's eight and twelve, and you know,
- 28:15Speaker 1: could they force a game six? I mean they could, right,
- 28:21Speaker 1: they could. We're a really good road team, although okay,
- 28:24Speaker 1: SE's phenomenal at home and this last one may have
- 28:29Speaker 1: you know, broke the will, you know what I mean?
- 28:33Speaker 1: And so could they force it and show some pride?
- 28:37Speaker 1: Yeah they could, they could. But it's like I was
- 28:43Speaker 1: about to say, well on some hot shooting, maybe they go, well, shit,
- 28:45Speaker 1: we were pretty hot the last two games. Last game,
- 28:49Speaker 1: you know, Game four, we were hot as shit, you know.
- 28:52Speaker 1: So it's like, you know, so, I mean they could
- 28:58Speaker 1: and come back game six and you win that. You
- 29:02Speaker 1: never know what happens, right, It could happen. It could happen,
- 29:05Speaker 1: But I don't know if it's gonna I really I
- 29:11Speaker 1: don't believe it will. I'm obviously on the side of
- 29:14Speaker 1: it probably won't, probably won't happen, But would I be shocked.
- 29:18Speaker 1: This team has surprised us, you know, the way it started.
- 29:23Speaker 1: I think there are eight and eight and ten. We've
- 29:27Speaker 1: talked about this. It took them a while, obviously to
- 29:30Speaker 1: fit the new pieces in there. And you know, once
- 29:34Speaker 1: Dante figured it out, he got hurt, and same with Randall,
- 29:39Speaker 1: and so it was kind of poor timing for that.
- 29:41Speaker 1: But Randall and both of them really did figure it
- 29:46Speaker 1: out even more when they got to see and look
- 29:48Speaker 1: what the team needed and you know what they can do,
- 29:51Speaker 1: and and they made a lot of you know, odds
- 29:56Speaker 1: are or odds wise, we were a big underdog in
- 29:59Speaker 1: this series. I thought we were a little bit too
- 30:02Speaker 1: big of an underdog. I have a plus two ninety
- 30:05Speaker 1: bet on the series, just because I saw one website
- 30:09Speaker 1: had it up to plus three thirty. Now Vegas generally
- 30:12Speaker 1: knows what they're talking about, right in these betting sites
- 30:16Speaker 1: and all that. It is what it is, right, But
- 30:20Speaker 1: when you look at it, like no one thought midway
- 30:25Speaker 1: through the season that they were going to make the
- 30:27Speaker 1: conference finals, right, I think they closed seventeen and four.
- 30:32Speaker 1: But you did have to kind of look at that
- 30:34Speaker 1: and say, well, they're playing positive. It looked they looked
- 30:37Speaker 1: the part of that team that were that was in
- 30:41Speaker 1: the top ten of our offense and defense, and they
- 30:44Speaker 1: looked that part. But you did have to look at
- 30:46Speaker 1: they still had the Milwaukee debacle. They still lost to
- 30:50Speaker 1: Indye without their starters or most of the you know,
- 30:57Speaker 1: too many of the starters out to lose the game,
- 31:00Speaker 1: and they just weren't beating that many quality teams down
- 31:03Speaker 1: the stretch, so make it into the Technically, they were
- 31:07Speaker 1: an underdog against the Lakers. You know Curry, that would
- 31:12Speaker 1: have been a longer series of Curry played. So you know,
- 31:15Speaker 1: I think they made some major strides, so I wouldn't
- 31:19Speaker 1: be surprised if they try to lean into this team again.
- 31:24Speaker 1: You look and say, well, Alexander Walker, out of all
- 31:27Speaker 1: the free agents, is probably the most expendable because of Shannon,
- 31:34Speaker 1: because of Clark. Offensively, you know, getting a bang from
- 31:39Speaker 1: Dillingham in the next three years. So we have Dillingham
- 31:44Speaker 1: and Shannon, who obviously were rookies this year. They have
- 31:48Speaker 1: three years left on their contract as long as you
- 31:51Speaker 1: exercise it, and if they developed, there's no reason they
- 31:55Speaker 1: won't exercise that, right And Clark has one year on
- 31:58Speaker 1: his deal and wouldn't be hard to retain, right Whereas
- 32:01Speaker 1: I think I want Alexander Walker back, Don't get me wrong,
- 32:05Speaker 1: but I think someone's gonna throw some money at him,
- 32:08Speaker 1: kind of like Kyle Anderson, where you're like, someone's gonna
- 32:12Speaker 1: give him money, dude, and just give him more playing
- 32:14Speaker 1: time now, Randal and NOAs we'll see. You know, they
- 32:19Speaker 1: got a decision to make this whole trade. We're gonna
- 32:25Speaker 1: find out if the trade was really about money or
- 32:31Speaker 1: if they could get more bang for their buck doing
- 32:34Speaker 1: the trade, right, Because theoretically speaking, you wouldn't say Nas
- 32:42Speaker 1: played himself into more money in the playoffs, where I
- 32:45Speaker 1: think you would say that about Randall. But in the
- 32:49Speaker 1: next the next two to three years, if you look
- 32:53Speaker 1: at what Cat's gonna make, and if you could get
- 32:58Speaker 1: those two for a out that money, that'd be a
- 33:02Speaker 1: pretty damn good deal, right, if you could get Randall
- 33:06Speaker 1: in Nas, it's really up to you know. I think
- 33:10Speaker 1: Randall will resign. I do believe noswill. Maybe someone was
- 33:16Speaker 1: willing to give him a bigger contract, But if it's
- 33:19Speaker 1: a bigger contract, it's probably gonna be a pretty bad,
- 33:23Speaker 1: too subpar team, So we'll see, you know. But I
- 33:32Speaker 1: could also see him wanting to start, like, hey, I
- 33:35Speaker 1: want to start someplace, you know. But if his contract,
- 33:40Speaker 1: if someone is willing to give him a lot of money,
- 33:43Speaker 1: it might be a sign in trade, you know. And
- 33:46Speaker 1: if if you look at Randall, you know, he's at
- 33:50Speaker 1: a different stage of his career. He's already in his thirties,
- 33:53Speaker 1: and I think he's got at least a few years
- 33:56Speaker 1: of prime. Maybe it's two, maybe it's three. Maybe it's
- 33:59Speaker 1: a little bit more stuff to say. But if the trade,
- 34:05Speaker 1: because you know a lot of people say it was
- 34:06Speaker 1: the constraints. You know, when you go to try to
- 34:11Speaker 1: make a trade in the future, shit, you can be
- 34:14Speaker 1: over the you know, there's all sorts of like if
- 34:18Speaker 1: you're over the second apron twice in a row, that
- 34:21Speaker 1: hurts you even more. If you're over the apron, you
- 34:25Speaker 1: can't even trade your first round pick. There's a lot
- 34:28Speaker 1: of constraints. And so we're gonna find out because remember
- 34:32Speaker 1: Conley and Finch both said this wasn't about money. But
- 34:37Speaker 1: like I said, if you can fit you know, from
- 34:43Speaker 1: the fifty five to sixty million range, fifty three to
- 34:49Speaker 1: fifty eight or let's say fifty to sixty somewhere in there, right,
- 34:54Speaker 1: if you can fit two players in there, well then
- 34:57Speaker 1: that's fucking good. And you got Devincenzo off of it,
- 35:00Speaker 1: and you got a first round pick. The fact that
- 35:03Speaker 1: our first round picks haven't hurt us. With Rudy, we
- 35:07Speaker 1: just had to this. We were able to get to
- 35:10Speaker 1: this last go round, and it feels like at least
- 35:12Speaker 1: one's gonna pay off with Shannon. If not doing you know,
- 35:19Speaker 1: we'll see. You know, I'm not gonna go. I think
- 35:22Speaker 1: it's too far to do the offseason recap right now.
- 35:25Speaker 1: It's it's just it's too premature or you know, the draft,
- 35:32Speaker 1: or could there be a trade on Draft night or whatever.
- 35:36Speaker 1: You know, we'll see. I don't want to go too
- 35:40Speaker 1: deep into it. I'll say this though, if in fact
- 35:43Speaker 1: they just lose Game five, loose you know tomorrow night,
- 35:49Speaker 1: I'm not gonna do a recap on Game five, right
- 35:53Speaker 1: I'll let some time go, and then as we get
- 35:55Speaker 1: closer to the draft and free agency, then I'll do
- 35:58Speaker 1: a show and really this stuff down because there's a
- 36:04Speaker 1: lot of good questions out there. There's a lot of
- 36:06Speaker 1: questions that need to be answered. You know. Of course,
- 36:12Speaker 1: I'd believe in Finch in the short term, no doubt
- 36:18Speaker 1: right now. Long term, is he the best offensive coach
- 36:23Speaker 1: for ANT? Is he the best offensive coach for ANT
- 36:29Speaker 1: using Rudy or just using Rudy like they did in Utah?
- 36:36Speaker 1: Now some of that can be answered. I don't I
- 36:39Speaker 1: don't think he's necessarily the best coach offensively, Like the
- 36:43Speaker 1: the fit, the flow fit for ANT. I gotta admit
- 36:49Speaker 1: I think Ant is a limited playmaker and he's gonna
- 36:52Speaker 1: be going into year six, and of course you'll get
- 36:54Speaker 1: better and better and better and better. But there are
- 36:58Speaker 1: some things that if you naturally grow up being more
- 37:04Speaker 1: of a point guard or a playmaker, that you just
- 37:07Speaker 1: have when you come in the league. So when you
- 37:12Speaker 1: enter year six, of course you're gonna get better, break
- 37:16Speaker 1: it down defenses and all that. But I think by
- 37:21Speaker 1: through five years, I think, like, I think he's limited
- 37:27Speaker 1: as a playmaker, and I don't think he'll improve massively.
- 37:31Speaker 1: You know, I think we've seen some jumps, but night
- 37:34Speaker 1: in and night out, game in and game out, you know,
- 37:38Speaker 1: I still wonder if he's ever like, is he gonna
- 37:41Speaker 1: So he's twenty three right now, so the next ten years,
- 37:44Speaker 1: let's say, is he gonna have is he consistently gonna
- 37:49Speaker 1: average seven seven and a half, you know, anyway from
- 37:53Speaker 1: like six to eight assists? You know, could he average
- 37:56Speaker 1: seven and a half assist for like or over seven
- 37:59Speaker 1: a six for five straight years? I don't know. I
- 38:02Speaker 1: don't think so. But on this team, you know, point
- 38:05Speaker 1: randall point forward, he could be over five and could
- 38:09Speaker 1: be over five. Conley Dante could be over five in
- 38:15Speaker 1: say Mcconnlelly, do you next year do you lean into
- 38:19Speaker 1: Dante more and bring Conley off the bench. So there's
- 38:21Speaker 1: a lot to talk about. But I do think being
- 38:27Speaker 1: that this is the first year you have a core
- 38:30Speaker 1: and this is the first year on your new team
- 38:32Speaker 1: that you made a gigantic trade for, do you try
- 38:37Speaker 1: to just lean into this team the next few years?
- 38:39Speaker 1: And really the only piece that I think about trading,
- 38:43Speaker 1: whether it's now or in the coming years, would be Ruby.
- 38:48Speaker 1: I would love them, love for them to lean all
- 38:51Speaker 1: the way into this team. And so we will get
- 38:54Speaker 1: to see if this was all about the second apron
- 38:57Speaker 1: or the salary cap and they want to cut. We're
- 39:01Speaker 1: gonna find out. I said that last you know, I
- 39:03Speaker 1: said that when we did the show after the trade, like,
- 39:06Speaker 1: we're gonna find out this offseason. If that trade was
- 39:09Speaker 1: about money, I should say about saving money, because of
- 39:15Speaker 1: course it's about money. It's a seller cap, right, But
- 39:18Speaker 1: like I said, if you can fit those two in
- 39:22Speaker 1: and hop Dante in a first round pick, you know,
- 39:27Speaker 1: obviously the trade worked for both sides, right, But in
- 39:32Speaker 1: the end, it would make more sense to be able
- 39:35Speaker 1: to have Randall en nos In Dante in a first
- 39:39Speaker 1: round pick rather than just Cat. Obviously, right now, you
- 39:44Speaker 1: could say in some ways Cat fits better than Randall
- 39:51Speaker 1: for aunt because he can stretch. You know he can stretch.
- 39:54Speaker 1: But then again, there's times we just know he's about
- 40:00Speaker 1: power forward random So I don't, you know, I started
- 40:03Speaker 1: kind of touching upon this. I don't want to give
- 40:05Speaker 1: my full opinion on it because there's a lot, you know,
- 40:09Speaker 1: that's going to take place. And like I said, I'm
- 40:13Speaker 1: not saying maybe we should move on from Finch or something.
- 40:16Speaker 1: People are saying that left and right. I think that's ridiculous,
- 40:19Speaker 1: you know. But as far as the national media and
- 40:26Speaker 1: some people were kind of pissed at Ant, one of
- 40:29Speaker 1: his quotes was, I made the right play all night,
- 40:31Speaker 1: so I didn't really look at it and struggled. I
- 40:33Speaker 1: didn't get enough shots to say I struggled. I didn't
- 40:37Speaker 1: struggle at all. I thought he struggled some. You don't
- 40:39Speaker 1: have five turnos or if you're not struggling some. So
- 40:46Speaker 1: some people got pretty mad at that. Though. Here's Kendrick
- 40:49Speaker 1: Perkins though about AMP. He said, you gotta check the
- 40:52Speaker 1: boxes when you're the face of the league, Bird, Magic
- 40:55Speaker 1: and j Obi, Shacqu Lebron, Steph they were all family men.
- 41:00Speaker 1: They all were married with kids. Okay, so did married
- 41:08Speaker 1: with kids ever really come into like Bird? Like did
- 41:12Speaker 1: you think man Bird's a great family man. I didn't
- 41:15Speaker 1: really know shit about Bird when I was a kid.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Magic love me some Magic. He was the first professional
- 41:24Speaker 1: basketball player I fell in love with. That was my
- 41:27Speaker 1: guy right still as obviously, but would you would you
- 41:33Speaker 1: classify like he's a family man now but in his
- 41:37Speaker 1: playing days to classify and I love me some Magic,
- 41:42Speaker 1: but to classify Magic as a family man, I mean okay?
- 41:50Speaker 1: And then Kobe, I mean he got got cheating and
- 41:56Speaker 1: narked on Shack who was cheating. You know, we know
- 42:00Speaker 1: locally in Minneapolis that Shaq was cheating with Courtney James girlfriend,
- 42:05Speaker 1: which I'm not trying to make light of because he
- 42:09Speaker 1: did hit her with a telephone book, which is fucked up, right,
- 42:13Speaker 1: I'm not making light of that. But to say Shaq
- 42:16Speaker 1: was this big family man now, Stephan, Lebron, shirt Kobe
- 42:21Speaker 1: or MJ, Yeah yeah, he had a clean cut image.
- 42:27Speaker 1: He sure as hell. MJ wouldn't have a clean cut
- 42:29Speaker 1: image nowadays, though, if you know that information would get
- 42:34Speaker 1: out about him in gambling and all this shit, right,
- 42:38Speaker 1: he wouldn't have a clean cut then. I mean he
- 42:41Speaker 1: punched what three of his point guards in practice, So
- 42:46Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I wish he would just say
- 42:51Speaker 1: what he means, and you cannot, you know, the whole
- 43:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna pay my child support off straight up, and
- 43:03Speaker 1: I don't want anything to do with the kid. Why
- 43:04Speaker 1: don't you just say that? Why don't you just say
- 43:07Speaker 1: that's fucked up? Don't don't beat around the bush with
- 43:11Speaker 1: some dumb shit talking about Magic was a family man,
- 43:13Speaker 1: bro Like, oh was he? Come on? I love Magic?
- 43:18Speaker 1: Kobe was a family man. His daughters loved him. Rip,
- 43:22Speaker 1: but family man. I mean he was on trial during
- 43:26Speaker 1: the season. No, he for cheating though it was a
- 43:29Speaker 1: bullshit trial. Of course he didn't rape her, but he
- 43:34Speaker 1: was cheating though, you know, So I don't know. And
- 43:37Speaker 1: then you have like Mackie going the other way right
- 43:41Speaker 1: where he's like you know, aunt led you know the
- 43:45Speaker 1: Wolves back to back conference, you know, appearances age twenty
- 43:49Speaker 1: two and twenty three, and Curry didn't get there till
- 43:53Speaker 1: twenty six. Johannis didn't get there till twenty you know,
- 43:56Speaker 1: like he yokicch and Lebron. Even Lebron didn't make his
- 44:00Speaker 1: second Eastern Conference final until twenty four, but he went
- 44:05Speaker 1: to the finals. And he said, in fairness, he went
- 44:07Speaker 1: to the finals. But it's about your team too, you know,
- 44:13Speaker 1: Lebron carried that team. And to even have a sentence
- 44:17Speaker 1: he didn't make a second conference final until he was
- 44:21Speaker 1: twenty four. Why even put that if you're you know,
- 44:26Speaker 1: the first title at twenty seven, Jordan at twenty seven, dude,
- 44:30Speaker 1: it's your team. Is how far you go on average?
- 44:35Speaker 1: Like I said, KG guys in the conference final, you know,
- 44:40Speaker 1: one time with us. But he was an MVP of
- 44:42Speaker 1: the league the year before or that year he could
- 44:46Speaker 1: have been. Sorry, the year before, he was literally a
- 44:50Speaker 1: top three player in the fucking league. So when you
- 44:54Speaker 1: when you protect him that way too, that's silly too,
- 44:57Speaker 1: because it's all about who you got around. Yeah, I
- 45:00Speaker 1: mean just ask MJ. Before they won, you know, he
- 45:07Speaker 1: kept getting beat they. I don't think they ever even
- 45:10Speaker 1: beat Boston in this one game. Now, is that because
- 45:15Speaker 1: Jordan sucked? No, it's because his team wasn't as good
- 45:18Speaker 1: and then once his team got good, he had to
- 45:20Speaker 1: figure out to involve them more. So, you know, I
- 45:28Speaker 1: brought up some questions that we will find answers to,
- 45:33Speaker 1: whether it's during free agency, like I said, Draft night, whatever,
- 45:36Speaker 1: but I will do a show leading up to that,
- 45:39Speaker 1: right and you know, over the next little bit we'll
- 45:44Speaker 1: find out, you know, even exit interviews, where's everybody's head at.
- 45:50Speaker 1: You know, sometimes that allows you to to kind of know,
- 45:54Speaker 1: but with Conley, you never know, right. But I'd say,
- 46:00Speaker 1: you know, I'd be happy if they leaned into this
- 46:02Speaker 1: team as much as they could bring back Nods, bring
- 46:05Speaker 1: back Randall. But like I said, we're gonna we're gonna
- 46:09Speaker 1: find out. We're gonna find out if that trade was
- 46:12Speaker 1: about saving money or about flexibility and get more bang
- 46:17Speaker 1: for your buck. Anyway, if they do force a Game six,
- 46:25Speaker 1: I'll probably do a show then, like after, to see
- 46:32Speaker 1: how the series went after that. I hope they Obviously
- 46:36Speaker 1: I'd love them for them to come back, but it'd
- 46:41Speaker 1: be nice for them to win one more game and
- 46:44Speaker 1: get it back to have that. You never know what
- 46:46Speaker 1: happens tonight, you know, Game six. But anyway, I'm gonna
- 46:49Speaker 1: get out of here. It's not all gloom and doom.
- 46:56Speaker 1: It does feel like last night was the best chance
- 46:59Speaker 1: to win in the series, obviously, because he would have
- 47:02Speaker 1: evened it up, put the pressure on Okay see, but
- 47:05Speaker 1: it didn't happen. It is what it is. I'm gonna
- 47:08Speaker 1: get out of here, enjoy the rest of the week.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Let's hope they get a dub on Wednesday. If not,
- 47:15Speaker 1: like I said, I'm not going to do a post
- 47:19Speaker 1: game five show, and I'll just in a few weeks
- 47:25Speaker 1: as the draft, maybe like a month from now, I'll
- 47:29Speaker 1: do a show and hopefully I have Aaron and some others
- 47:32Speaker 1: maybe to kind of have a roundtable talking about what
- 47:35Speaker 1: they should do with their offseason in what they you know, predictions,
- 47:40Speaker 1: what what they what we think is gonna happen, YadA, YadA, YadA. Anyway,
- 47:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna get out of here. Yeah. Piece
