- 2:05A little bit later on, We're gonna get a visit from Delicate Kathy has
- 2:07Kraus. I got some things in the news that I want to cover.
- 2:10Interims are actually going on at the under the Dome, and Kathy Krause was
- 2:16able to kind of sneak away for a moment to join us on the show,
- 2:19so we'll talk to her about that a little bit later on. I
- 2:22hope everybody had a great weekend, but forget about it because it's all over.
- 2:24It's Monday. Now, it's Mayor and Monday too. Let's welcome into
- 2:29the show from the land of the Generals. It's Mayor Randy Barrett of Winfield.
- 2:32Good morning, sir, how are you. I'm real good, Dave.
- 2:36How are you doing this morning? I am doing fine, mister Mayor.
- 2:38Let me go and take care of the pleasantries first in case I forget.
- 2:43Hope you and your family had a are having a wonderful Christmas season and
- 2:46have a happy New Year. Yes we are. We got over a little
- 2:50sickness after Thanksgaming. We're all going better now. Well that's good. I
- 2:53hope nothing too serious. I know there's a lot of ailments going on around
- 2:58right now. Yeah. I wanted to before I forgot, I wanted to
- 3:02congratuate the Winfield High School cheerleaders and win another state championship on the weekend up
- 3:08there. They worked real hard and stuff in there. But I want to
- 3:12shout out to those girls. Good job. Absolutely congratulations to them. We've
- 3:17spent a lot of time on the show lately with there's municipalities, mayor talking
- 3:21about Christmas parade. So give me the give me the infoll and Winfields.
- 3:24Okay, Well, it's the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department that's been doing one for
- 3:30the last four or five years and really doing an excellent job. And we've
- 3:35been teaming up with them, and we have the finish of it down at
- 3:38the community and that's the sixteenth this coming Saturday. The parade actually starts at
- 3:44six, but the lineup is at the high school at five o'clock. They're
- 3:49going judge for floats and prizes and stuff starting around five point thirty and then
- 3:54they will come from there all the way down eight seventeens who Calle Street and
- 4:01go into our community center. Uh there. We have a shelter there on
- 4:04the river and we'll have fire pits. Uh uh. Some moores are donated
- 4:11by Cross Point Church and New Church here in uh. In the city where
- 4:15I go to, Uh, the Nazarene Church, we'll be doing h hot
- 4:19chocolate and a cutting table. The Pauls Church has got a photo booth.
- 4:24Of course we'll have Santa Claus down there and uh, so that'll start right
- 4:28after everything down there is free up there. So we're we're looking for a
- 4:32It just gets better and better. The weather last year you just couldn't.
- 4:35It was just great, well just probably in the forties and it was great.
- 4:40So uh that always plays the factory in a parade. Looks like most
- 4:43of them this weekend, uh lucked out and it looked like the weather was
- 4:46pretty good for most parades, and I'm hoping trading for the for the best
- 4:50for this one this Saturday too. Wellever what it's worth, the long range
- 4:54forecast of this weekend looks pretty good. U. I mean that's of course,
- 4:57that says my friends, and meteorology will tell you the cannot be accurately
- 5:00predicted more than forty eight hours in advance. But it looks pretty good for
- 5:04this weekend. So that that always, yeah, that always worries me.
- 5:08I'd rather say, what's going to rain Saturday? I think we've got a
- 5:11better chance of being nice and when they say it's going to be really really
- 5:16good, that worries me more than that say it's going to be storming.
- 5:21And Mary, you mentioned the role of the fire department in this in Winfield.
- 5:26They are a really really big part of organizing this thing. Is that
- 5:28right? Oh yeah, I mean this is their uhair. We we just
- 5:32team up with them. Uh they they they've done that themselves, and they
- 5:39reach out to us and we help them and uh just put a word out.
- 5:44And now this is you know, I get called for this and that,
- 5:47and I try to refer them to the chief or the assistant chief there.
- 5:51They're doing that. And then they they started about the same time with
- 5:57driving around through different sub divisions, not just in the city Windfield, but
- 6:00out Crystal Springs and Happy Days Mobile home Park and up and down almost Aimous.
- 6:10They drive around in the fire truck and Santa Claus go it, throwing
- 6:15out candy knes and stuff in the evenings at dark and they got they're playing
- 6:18music. It is awesome and they do such a good job. And I
- 6:23think that's December eleventh, thirteenth, and the fifteenth. And you can go
- 6:28to either our Facebook page, the cities or the fire Department's Facebook page,
- 6:34and they're pretty good. They got the times of every subdivision that they're gonna
- 6:39be there and if it's not raining, if the training, they're cancer night,
- 6:44they have ann Duart. But they're really really they got down path when
- 6:47they said they're gonna be at seven forty five at a certain place, they're
- 6:50gonna be there. It's they really do a good job. It's a good
- 6:54good service. The Fire Department does talk going to be a Randy Bard.
- 6:58He're on Mayor Monday, mister Barrett, of course, the mayor of Winfield.

- 7:17three zero four eight one four two five zero nine. There is a Brightway
- 7:20Mays dot Com. Theyre there's a lot of talk in Putnam County recently about
- 7:25about people moving in and talk of New Core and some of these other job
- 7:30opportunities that are going on in the Canal Valley. What can you tell us
- 7:32there for Winfield, Well, we've got a developer right inside the Baptist Church
- 7:39just on the west side of he's building thirty eight brand new two and three
- 7:44bedroom town home that he's going to be selling two hundred and fifty probably thousand
- 7:50dollars each and uh, and I know that he's the first three these buildings
- 7:56already sold and uh. Rent and property homes in winfield's a premium cause the
- 8:05New Core. It's scary about people that's already moved to Winfield from New Core.
- 8:11But it's the schools and these young people they do the research and they
- 8:18come to Putnam County because of the schools, and they can Winfield couse schools.
- 8:22So that if you want to sell house for a certain price, if
- 8:28you really want it, you probably won't have to bid twenty thousand dollars more
- 8:31for it. And that's this way it is. It's I guess it's a
- 8:33good problem I have. Not if you're looking for one, but if you
- 8:37want to sell one and go someplace someplace else, because you're going to have
- 8:41to recoup that. But the people can Winfield because these three schools, and
- 8:48there's just mo tonight and then the vampires come because they want to be the
- 8:50grandkids. I saw it. I've been here about twelve years and it's been
- 8:56like it. I mean, it's more like this now, but it's all
- 9:00has been like it cause these three schools, you know, I mean,
- 9:01the Putnam County in general has got some of the best best schools in the
- 9:05entire state of West Virginia. And again now Puttnham County, you know,
- 9:09you've got a very low crime rate compared to other areas, and that's why
- 9:13a lot of people are choosing that you mentioned the newcore people, a lot
- 9:16of them are choosing to live in Puttnham County. Mayor, this is the
- 9:20last time we'll talk to you in the year of twenty twenty three. What's
- 9:24on the radar for the town of Windfield in twenty twenty four, Well,
- 9:26we're we've got a grant in for our old sewer plant down there. It's
- 9:31a little less of five acres and we're trying to get caught up up there.
- 9:39It's for a splash park, pickleball just various things down there on that
- 9:46five acres down there kind of behind the advance auto with the trees that a
- 9:50lot of people don't even know spick there. So that's our big thing that
- 9:54we're trying to do. We're trying to purchase some property here beside of us.
- 10:00We're in the works of that, and so that's something down the road
- 10:03that the city can the city can do stuff with work. We've got a
- 10:07lot going on up there and a lot of behind the scenes, but we're
- 10:13we're got a lot going on infield. We've got the new lumberyard that opened
- 10:16up right here behind us up in there, and I see wow, trucks
- 10:20in there every day, unloads and stuff and people uh set buying it and
- 10:24coming back out. So that's a that's a big addition to the to the
- 10:28city here also up in there. So we're growing up there, and that's
- 10:33that's all you can ask. Yeah, indeed, uh Mayor, before I
- 10:35let you go, UH got to get you to tell a quick story.
- 10:39You told me you killed a deer while listening to my show. Yeah,
- 10:43I did they up there. You know, I do enjoy your show and
- 10:48up there and I thought I took my earbuds and my phone up there and
- 10:52where I got where I'm at, I got good service. I just put
- 10:54one of my earbuds in my ear and I listened to your show. And
- 10:58there's about twenty till ten, and that bluff come up there and I still
- 11:05had the ear bud and you still talking one I dropped it right there and
- 11:07then right before you, right before you got off, I text you and
- 11:11I said, yeah, I said, I've never killed a deer, and
- 11:16then fut nice and dear verver killed. Listened to Dave Allen shows, but
- 11:18I did. I'll be doing again every year. Well, it's a tradition
- 11:22now. Normally, normally people are just bored to dad. That's not often
- 11:26the deer perish while listen to my show. Mayor, it's always a pleasure
- 11:31to talk to you, Hope, Bert, you and everyone in Winfield have
- 11:33a very happy and safe marry Christmas and a happy New Year's. Well we'll
- 11:35talking to New year man. Thanks a lot you two day, Thank you,

- 15:35Please don't good selfie, queen, Please don't break my microphone. I appreciate
- 15:39you being here today because I know you have interims going on and so as
- 15:43you, as I explained to the folks, stop the show this right now,
- 15:46this little time frame actually worked out well because you yourself don't have meetings
- 15:52as we speak. There are meetings going on, and I have more on
- 15:56that coming up a little bit later on what are you getting into otherwise though
- 16:00during the interims over there? As I said, now is a downtime.
- 16:03But what about what else is on the schedule for today or yesterda? What
- 16:06happened yesterday or tomorrow? Oh? Yesterday I had gov Org Committee meeting.
- 16:11Today we just have a general session. I believe it's on aeronautics, bringing
- 16:15in some businesses hopefully to West Virginia. Tomorrow I have an Energy and Manufacturing
- 16:21Committee meeting. And then just in between a little bit of everything, working
- 16:26on bills, getting them together for next session and everything, because it is
- 16:29right around the corner. Yeah, next month it's going to So now,
- 16:32are you running for reelection? I am. I am. Hopefully we'll be
- 16:36back in next year. Well I'll be there next year, but hopefully for
- 16:38the twenty five to twenty sixth session. Also, I want to bring this
- 16:44up. And you know, Kathy and I have been have known each other
- 16:47for quite a while, so I can bring up things with Kathy. A
- 16:52certain journalist has made it a point to refer to you as a former just
- 16:57to hear me out here to refer to you in writing about you as a
- 17:02former Hooters girl. Now you have not shied away, you know from from
- 17:10that editor's note, Delicatecraus is also a microbiologist, not just a one trick
- 17:15pony here or two or three trick pony. Care to address your career as
- 17:19a Hooters girl or as a microbiologist? I was a Hooters girl about thirty
- 17:26years ago. Proud of it. I was a Hooters girl while I was
- 17:29a mom of three young toddlers. I had a deadbeat ex husband, and
- 17:34what can I say? It was a great way to make money. And
- 17:37the only thing I can think of with this tabloid type journalist is maybe he
- 17:41tipped me too much and is a shame that got me where I am today?
- 17:48I think I thought it was kind of funny because again I read it
- 17:49last week and I think somebody has sent it to me and I read it,
- 17:52and I actually contacted you about it, that you know, despite everything
- 17:56else you've done, you're going to be known as a former romber Hooters girl.
- 18:00Well it's not. I mean, I guess that's a little different than
- 18:02being known as the as the gun nut that you are. Yeah, and
- 18:06I say that, I say that tongue in cheek, But go ahead.
- 18:08Maybe I should put my old uniform on and a gun holster and then I
- 18:12could be the gun nut former Hooters girl. Head's exploding, and then throw
- 18:18in a little bit of school choice and we will just make everyone's heads explode.
- 18:22I'm hearing again we're talking with Delegate Kathy Heskrause. I'm hearing that that
- 18:26you may have opposition for your seat in the Republican primary. Why should Republicans
- 18:32put Kathy Hescrause back at ardesk at the Capitol in me? Because I have
- 18:36done exactly what I said I would do going in, and I hold the
- 18:41Republican values very high. I have voted exactly the way I said I would
- 18:45vote. I have not shied away from anything, even when opposition has came
- 18:49in and said no, you need to do Nope, this is this is
- 18:56the Republican values, and this is how we're going to vote on things.
- 19:00And I will continue that. Explain your district to people, so I am
- 19:06complete. My district is completely in Putnam County. I have everything on the
- 19:10north side of the river from Buffalo all the way down to the Putnam side
- 19:14of Nitro. And then if you come over on to the south side of
- 19:17the river, let's stop. Let's start at John Amos Plant, the AEP
- 19:22plant on eight seventeen, go down to eight seventeen to Mediterranean Breeze and the
- 19:27Parmar station. It ends right there at that little bridge there, and if
- 19:33you go the other way towards Winfield, it goes down to the marina and
- 19:37then I come up around Bill's Creek area to the Interstate, follow the Interstate
- 19:42to thirty five sixty four split, and then I come down right there at
- 19:48Sheets there and follow Hendrick Road and Scary Creek back down to eight seventeen pretty
- 19:53much down pat As far as the area, I'm trying. What do you
- 19:57hear from your can stituents? In that area. What are some of the
- 20:00things that keep you busy as far as because you know, when you're a
- 20:03member of the of the legislature, you know your phone. People have a
- 20:07tendency to think that you're only working sixty days, and that's not if you're
- 20:10any kind of a legislator at all, Republican or Democrat, That's not the
- 20:12way it works. You're working constantly. When you get a phone call,
- 20:17you get an email, you get a text message or whatever from any of
- 20:21your constituents. What couple things are usually on their radar that you're concerned about
- 20:26the biggest thing, and I was just talking about this yesterday. The biggest
- 20:30thing I am contacted about is roads. Ye roads every way, shape form
- 20:36every place, and it's usually not even just in my district. It's within
- 20:41the other districts of Putnam County two. And it's like, well, if
- 20:44I can take care of it, I will. If not, here's the
- 20:45delegate right there for that one. But the majority of the calls are about
- 20:52roads, and then a little bit of everything else thrown in there. When
- 20:56we actually get to the actual session, there's I mean, things are going
- 21:00pretty well in West Virginia, right now, but there's we're not without problems.
- 21:03D h h R is a big when the prison crisis. Although the
- 21:06prison you know, situation seems to be getting a little bit better. They're
- 21:11doing some hiring. What are some things that that are likely to be covered
- 21:15once the session starts next month. Well, I think we will continue working
- 21:18on the prisons. You know, we've got to get our correctional officers,
- 21:22get all that straightened out, get their pay better, make sure we have
- 21:26them in. We are getting them in, but now we need to make
- 21:27sure we keep them in, so we need to finish looking at that.
- 21:33We of course need to finish looking at some issues that we addressed last session
- 21:38and maybe fixing a few bills there, continue reducing our income taxes for everybody,
- 21:45putting money back in people's pockets. So I think we'll have a busy
- 21:51session this this session. We haven't came up exactly on what our caucus bills
- 21:56will be, so I can't tell you what we're focusing on as far as
- 22:00that goes, but I have a feeling it'll be a little bit of everything.
- 22:04You sort of alluded to this delegate a little bit earlier about school choice.
- 22:08That's one of the things that you and a few others, but you
- 22:11especially have been a big proponent of school choice. Why is it so important
- 22:15to you? Because I have learned from having five kids myself, three of
- 22:21them as a Hooters girl and two after that. But you know, I
- 22:23digress there. But I've learned every kid. Every child learns differently, and
- 22:32some of those learn great in public school, and that's perfectly fine, but
- 22:37some need something different. It may work better for them in a private school,
- 22:40in a charter school, in a micro school, or as a homeschooler.
- 22:44And I believe if we want our children to succeed in life, we
- 22:48need to give them every opportunity to do so in the way that they do
- 22:52so best. Why would we want our children to fail and not do well
- 22:57in school when all we have to do is change the way they're being educated
- 23:02and they will flourish. And I want to make sure all kids have that.
- 23:06Luckily, I was able to homeschool our last two and it's been a
- 23:10great opportunity for them. I've graduated one, my daughter graduates this year.
- 23:15They've done great, and I want to see other people have those opportunities.
- 23:19Maybe somebody can't exactly homeschool, but they can do private school, or they
- 23:25can do a micro school and let someone else homeschool their children. And now
- 23:27we have Hope scholarship to help with that too, And so I want to
- 23:33give opportunity to every West Virginia child to learn the way they learn best.
- 23:40I think sometimes there is a perception of Delegate Cross that if you are a
- 23:45big proponent of charter schools or homeschool anything other than the traditional brick and mortar
- 23:52high schools, middle schools, and grade school, that you're anti high school,
- 23:56middle schools, and grade school. And that's not necessarily the case,
- 23:57is you pointed out, no, not at all. I'll graduate at public
- 24:02school. My three older children all graduate at public school. Now was public
- 24:07school right for my three older children? For one, yes, he flourished
- 24:12in public school, did great. That was the right place for him.
- 24:18For the other two, they really needed other options, and at the time
- 24:23I couldn't give them other options. I was a single mom for a large
- 24:27part of their life, and then I just didn't know a lot about homeschooling
- 24:33until it hit me in the face that this is what I had to do,
- 24:37and I did so. With the two younger ones. So just looking
- 24:41back at them, I think it would have helped at least two of them
- 24:45do even better in their education to have a different opportunity and a different way
- 24:51to learn. And I see that with every kid. And we have plenty
- 24:55of families out there that will have one kid in public school, have another
- 24:59one be in a charter school that's nearby or a private school, and then
- 25:03they're homeschooling the third child. And thus the term school choice exactly exactly what
- 25:08works best for your family when how and just letting parents choose what is best
- 25:15for their children because they know their children the best. And if that choice
- 25:21happens to be public school, then that's great. If that choice happens to
- 25:25be homeschooling, that's great. If it happens to be charters or micros or
- 25:30learning pods, that's great. Let's just give parents the choice and give the
- 25:34kids the opportunity to succeed in life and have a productive life ahead of them.

- 26:04travel because I know that you and I'm constantly following you on on social media
- 26:11and other legislators as well, that there's that you're going to other places and
- 26:15you're and you're trying to learn things or see things that maybe a different state
- 26:21or different areas doing that we can bring back to West Virginia. Where are
- 26:23some of the places that you've been to. What have you learned recently?
- 26:26Oh, it's been a busy year, but you know, I've had a
- 26:30lot of downtime. So this was a year for me to be able to
- 26:33engage outside of our state a little bit more to hopefully help bring jobs back
- 26:37to West Virginia. I have been to Nashville, Vegas, UH, South
- 26:42Carolina, Florida. I've been a little bit of everywhere, d C,
- 26:47Annapolis. I was just out in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and maybe
- 26:52about a month ago, but anyway, we went out there, a large
- 26:57delegation of us met with business that we're looking at maybe trying to bring into
- 27:02West Virginia, to meet with them a little bit more to see what they
- 27:04needed and want it and what have you. And then I also attended the
- 27:08Sema Auto Show. And what we did was the delegation that went out there,
- 27:15we split up I think it was about seven hundred businesses that were out
- 27:21there with booths and everything, and we split them up. We had about
- 27:25one hundred apiece and we went around to each of them and we talked to
- 27:29them and we said, this is why West Virginia is a great place to
- 27:32either one move your business or two expand your business here. How can we
- 27:37help you? And we came back with a nice list of potential businesses to
- 27:45bring into West Virginia. So it may have looked like I was just out
- 27:49there having fun, which believe me, I did. I had a great
- 27:52time at the auto show. It is absolutely amazing. I've never been to
- 27:56such a big, big show like that. But we worked their butts off.
- 28:02We did. I'll put on that week alone, I think sixty miles
- 28:07of walking, so and we brought back dozens of businesses that we're serious about.
- 28:17Yeah, we kind of we want to come back to We want we
- 28:19want to come to a low regulation state. We want to come to a
- 28:22state that has high ownership in houses. We want to come to a state
- 28:26that's that has preferably no income tax. But we see you're working on getting
- 28:33rid of that altogether, so we're happy to look at that too. So
- 28:38we had a lot of interest and we're hoping that progresses on further and we
- 28:44can get some businesses here. Well, they've been coming in and I mean
- 28:47it seems like it's constantly one job announcement after another. Last question, when
- 28:52you when you set down, you and other members of the legislature, when
- 28:56you sit down and you talk about West Virginia. First of all, when
- 29:00you try to have to convince them that we're a state, you know that
- 29:03that we're nowhere near Roanoke, Richmond. But once you get by that,
- 29:06what are some of the selling points of West Virginia. You talked about some
- 29:08of the things that they're working on as far as tax and regulations and things
- 29:15that nature, but outside things like that. What are some of the selling
- 29:18points in your opinion for West Virginia. Some of the big ones are like
- 29:23the high ownership rate that we have, the fact that we are within driving
- 29:29distance of I don't know, it's around seventy percent of the population of the
- 29:34US, so if they have a manufacturer here, they can send a truck
- 29:40out and deliver within a day's time to about seventy percent of the population.
- 29:48We talk about our school choice because a lot of people are happy with that.
- 29:52They like that we have that available, and they like the hope scholarship
- 29:55possibility that they can look at for their kids. We talk about the low
- 30:00cost of living here, and we talk about our beautiful state and how much
- 30:06opportunity there is to get out there and enjoy it, and the recreational aspects
- 30:11of the whole state, and all of that together really piques people's interests and
- 30:15they're like, Okay, this could be a great place for our family and
- 30:21our business. Yeah, Dela Krause, it's always pleasure to talk to.

- 38:08Want to spend a little bit of time this morning talking about Thursday nights
- 38:13scubatatorio, roundtable, or whatever you want to call it. It was in
- 38:16Morgantown. Hoppy kirch Will moderated it, and I had a chance on Friday
- 38:22to join Hoppy and Brad to talk about it. I mentioned it then and
- 38:28I'll see it again. I think the Republican candidates for president could probably take
- 38:34a queue from the Republican candidates, at least the ones that were on stage
- 38:37in Morgantown last Thursday night. They could probably take a queue from them.
- 38:40On decorum, And of course I'm referring to that crap show that they called
- 38:45a debate last Wednesday night in Alabama among some of the presidential candidates. One
- 38:52missing, by the way, in case you missed it last week on the
- 38:55show, I talked a little bit about it. Vivic Ramaswami is an ass
- 39:00I said it. Uh. But uh anyway, Uh back back to the
- 39:04governors. Uh. I thought that the that the gubernatorial discussion again debates by
- 39:09hobbies on a mission. The debate may not be the right word. They
- 39:13just had a discussion. I watched it. I thought it was Uh.
- 39:16I thought it went great. Hobby did a good job. That's not me
- 39:20sucking up to him. He really did good. Points were made by all
- 39:23Warner, Miller and Capitol. You know, some things I didn't necessarily agree
- 39:29with, but uh, you know, but that's okay probably. Uh.
- 39:32The two biggest takeaways were two of the most controversial, if you will,
- 39:38comments, one made by Chris Miller uh and the other by current Secretary of
- 39:44State Make Warner. Now Miller saying that he would eliminate the state income tax
- 39:50on day one, which I mean, we know that doesn't really work that
- 39:52way, not saying he can't work toward it. Uh. But it's not
- 39:58going to happen, not not in that fashion anyway. And Mac Warner saying
- 40:02point blank that the twenty twenty presidential election was stolen by the CIA, and
- 40:10by the way, that's there's more on that at the website this morningwv metronews
- 40:14dot com. And also as an added I will say that prior to the
- 40:19show today, some of the folks with Mac Warner reached out to me about
- 40:22coming on the show to talk about those comments. I'm going to have the
- 40:25secretary on the show on Wednesday, I think it is Wednesday. And you
- 40:31know, I don't pretend to be as smart as Mac Warner. He's a
- 40:36very smart guy. Full disclosure, as you know I've said on the show
- 40:38before, I said it on a hobby I did work for Mac for four
- 40:42years twenty seventeen through mid twenty twenty one. But you know, the courts
- 40:49have proven and the courts have said that the election wasn't stolen. But it's
- 40:54getting attention. It's getting national attention his comments, by the way, which
- 41:01which is needed. You know, you want attention. The worst thing for
- 41:06a politician of any party is is to be ignored, which you know,
- 41:13don't get me wrong, He's not. He wasn't getting ignored. But now
- 41:17there are people really talking about Mike Warner, you know, in his race
- 41:22for governor right now. And I will say too that the fact that current
- 41:28Attorney General Patrick Morrissey was a no show at the debate now, you know,
- 41:32in his defense he says, uh, it's it's early, which I
- 41:38will agree with him on that as it stands right now. And again it's
- 41:44very early. But as of now, as of right now, if the
- 41:49election were to be held today, Patrick Morrissey will be the next governor of
- 41:55the state of West Virginia. Uh. And so maybe Patrick Morrisey just doesn't
- 42:04feel he needs to be there, and he wasn't. Now he will join
- 42:08in other debates and forums, I'm sure, and there will be others.
- 42:13But it did also give the others a chance to attack someone who wasn't in
- 42:17the room to defend himself, you know, one comparing Morrissey to Joe Biden
- 42:22as in hiding in his basement, which again, as I said on Hoppy
- 42:28the other day, if you look at any Republican in West Virginia and compare
- 42:32them to Joe Biden, you may as well talk about his mother at that
- 42:36point, because because that's about as low as you could go in Republican circles
- 42:39as as compared the president to Joe Biden. Mac Warner said in closing there
- 42:46that the next governor needs to be a West Virginian, of which Morrissey is
- 42:52not. The forum, by the way, in case you missed, it
- 42:57is available on the website wv metronews dot com. You like to go back
- 43:00and watch it. It was. It was good, It was, it
- 43:04was very good. Now there is a another candidate on the Republican side that
- 43:08wants to be your next secretary of State. Former State Party Chair Chris Warner,
- 43:14the brother of current Secretary of State Mike Warner. Mike, of course,
- 43:16as I said, running for governor. Chris announcing at an event Thursday
- 43:21night in Charleston and again on Hoppy on Friday that he is running for for
- 43:25secretary of State. Former Legislator Ken Reid, current Putnam County Clerk Brian wood
- 43:31deble Get, Chris Prett, and former House Minority Leader and head of HD
- 43:36Media. Democrat turned Republican Doug scaff already in in that field. So Chris
- 43:43Warner is in. Now we will effort to get Chris Warner on the show
- 43:49as well. At at at some point, I was thinking about this this
- 43:52morning, and if Chris Warner is elected, it's going to save a little
- 43:58time because they only change had to check half the name on the door,
- 44:00so they just leave the Warner, leave the Warner part up there. Tex
- 44:07says Brad's story today on the bat wing radicalism of Mac Warner is a great
- 44:12peace. The Warners have lost their minds and went alt right. It's freaky
- 44:15since a Texter Texas dave the votes in Georgia counted three times, he says.
- 44:22A Texter tex says Republican values. Cozing up to authoritarians like or Bond
- 44:30and putin Republican values is turning your back on an ally you guaranteed protection to
- 44:37for giving up nuclear weapons. Republican values are ruining America, it says a
- 44:43texture Texas. Mcwarner really needs to lay off eating lead paint champs. I
- 44:49worked for Macwarner. I don't remember I am ever eating eating lead paint chips
- 44:53that I remember. The day Island Showing five eighty Live is presented a part

- 47:37and should know better that the election wasn't stolen? Is he that stupid?
- 47:42Or uneducated. Well, it's not stupid or uneducated, that is, that's
- 47:45just his opinion. Texas. Chris Warner thinks he's going to save the Secretary
- 47:50of State's office from Doug scaff But the truth is a few people like Chris
- 47:53Warner not to mention him nearly bankrupting the West Virginia GOP when he was in
- 47:58charge. He's not a leader, sessed opportunists, man negative negative here today,
- 48:02Texas. I don't like Morrissey, But how's he not a West Virginian.
- 48:06He lives here and pays taxes here, right, that's a citizen of
- 48:07the state. No, Yeah, I think, and I agree with what
- 48:12the Texter said. You know, he the old saint says, I'm not
- 48:15from West Virginia, but I got here as quickly as I could. Another
- 48:19person that was in West Virginia was Jay Rockefeller. But many people in the
- 48:22Democratic circles especially would have high high marks for the former governor and Senator Jay
- 48:29Rockefeller. So maybe I, on my part, maybe I should have said
- 48:31not a native West Virginia. Brad has a story post at wv metronews dot
- 48:36com. Brad's going to be a busy guy today because in addition to keep
- 48:39an eye on the interims, attorneys for Governor Justices companies and Carter Bank are
- 48:44set the square off in a court room next hour in Martinsville, Virginia.
- 48:47The hearing originally was set for last month, but was delayed until today.
- 48:52According to Brad's story, three hundred million dollars will be on the line for
- 48:55Governor Justice and his family's companies. Now. The lawyers will be making their
- 49:00case as to whether the governor and his companies might have to pay on the
- 49:04millions of dollars that were guaranteed but then fell into default status. It's kind
- 49:08of a complicated story, but it all goes back to I guess April of
- 49:15last year when Carter Bank filed to collect judgments of just over three hundred million
- 49:21dollars plus attorney fees and interest. Now, the claims cited personal guarantees by
- 49:25Governor Justice and his family, including Jim and First Lady Kathy Justice's son Jay,
- 49:31who is named as an executive of the family's co operations. The loans
- 49:37had come due April fifteenth of last year. Now, separately, Governor Justice's
- 49:43family companies have filed a billion with a B dollar lawsuit against Carter Bank alleging
- 49:49bad faith practices. Now that suit was filed in West Virginia and Carter Bank
- 49:52is trying to get the suit transferred to Virginia. Again, very complex,
- 49:55complicated story. Brad does a much better job of explaining in it that I
- 50:00do. And Brad, of course we'll be keeping an eye on that hearing
- 50:02today. Bottom line is, folks want the public heres and reads about all
- 50:07these financial woes of Governor Justice, his problem with paying his bills, all
- 50:12of which were well documented long before he ever ran for governor in twenty sixteen.
- 50:17Do they care? No? No one seemed to care when he ran
- 50:22and one was a Democrat in twenty sixteen, or when he switched to Republican
- 50:28and beat Ben Selango to get a second term, And now that the governor's
- 50:32facing Congressman Alex Mooney and the Republican primary to try to take Joe Manchin's seat
- 50:37in the Senate, does anyone really care? Apparently apparently not. I've been
- 50:45talking about interims and something I do want to get in here about the interims
- 50:50this hour and this is I haven't had an update on it since I started
- 50:52the show. There was scheduled to be a hearing. It's part of interims
- 50:58with one of the committees. They were expected to call in the heads of
- 51:02Mountaineer Gas and Westervirginia American Water Company. Now what, I had Pushkin on
- 51:07the show a couple of weeks ago. He was talking. I think he's
- 51:08part of that. I saw her. He tweeted or x something out about
- 51:12that. That was scheduled to begin at nine this morning. Again, I've
- 51:15been kind of busy doing a radio show here, so I haven't had an
- 51:17opportunity to check on that. But again, Brad and Jeff and the entire
- 51:21news team will be following that that was said to begin at nine this morning.
- 51:25And speaking going back to mansion, I was watching Meet the Press yesterday.
- 51:30Former presidential candidate met Romney was on there and said, and I'm kind
- 51:35of paraphrasing here, the Joe he would like to support for president in twenty
- 51:39twenty four his mansion and not to want to run for president, but who
- 51:45knows. Speaking to presidential politests. Got to wrap it up with this.
- 51:50See this poll that came out for the Wall Street Journal and a proposed matchup
- 51:52for president former President Trump beats Biden at the election were held today forty seven
- 51:58to forty three percent. Interesting to me though, if the matchup was between
- 52:01Joe Biden and Nikki Haley, Haley beats Biden by seventeen percentage points. Are
- 52:08you listening? Republican Party? Are you listening? All right? We gotta
