- 0:28Speaker 3: Haven't we always taught the children to make friends with
- 0:30Speaker 3: those who are a little different?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Mandy's first words are in
- 0:39Speaker 2: I'm in release. No. Do you see march? No? Do
- 0:43Speaker 2: you see why we must build that fence? Build it, homie,
- 0:46Speaker 2: make it as tall as the sky and deeper than hell.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, four Finger Discount. Dude, welcome to four Finger Discount,
- 1:10Speaker 2: the podcast where We're come and to America. Okay, so
- 1:15Speaker 2: what was that from? Was that? That's the Neil Diamond song?
- 1:17Speaker 2: That's the Neil Diamond song. Is that called they Come
- 1:19Speaker 2: to America? Yeah? They're just called America the song? I guess,
- 1:23Speaker 2: so yeah, I mean, is there an album he had
- 1:25Speaker 2: called America No, it was hot all this night. That
- 1:26Speaker 2: was his big one, wasn't it. Yeah, two complete different things.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I was about to say it starts with an A.
- 1:30Speaker 2: That's correct. Okay, Yeah, you made the connections very very tenuous,
- 1:34Speaker 2: but you got there in the end. He's just he
- 1:37Speaker 2: has built somewhat of a career around I'm not bashing
- 1:40Speaker 2: Neil Diamond, right, I know maybe five of his songs,
- 1:44Speaker 2: but everyone seems to love them. Oh yeah, and people
- 1:47Speaker 2: who like Neil Diamond love Neil Diamond. Yeah very much.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Again for a guy who's surprisingly sort of anonymous, he's
- 1:53Speaker 2: a really really big star. Only was yeah, but you
- 1:57Speaker 2: go back through the cattle. I was like, this guy's
- 1:59Speaker 2: got an absolute bangers. Yeah, yeah, was a brother loves
- 2:02Speaker 2: Traveling Salvation Show. Great song, not just Sweet Carolina, not
- 2:07Speaker 2: just Sweet Caroline, Bah, don't don't even do it, but here,
- 2:11Speaker 2: but talking about coming to Homerica an episode that you
- 2:13Speaker 2: didn't like. I just rewatched it before we started recording here,
- 2:16Speaker 2: and I'm gonna be honest, I actually really enjoyed it
- 2:19Speaker 2: because I thought, for the most part, it had a
- 2:21Speaker 2: genuine and thoughtful story and message that it wanted to
- 2:23Speaker 2: get across. It did so in a very un Simpson,
- 2:28Speaker 2: unmodern Simpson, I want to say, modern Simpsons. Season twenty
- 2:30Speaker 2: Simpsons episode way where there wasn't many racist gags or
- 2:33Speaker 2: anything like that, or homophobic gags. It was more a
- 2:36Speaker 2: case of we're trying to push equality and push you know, unity,
- 2:40Speaker 2: unity in that in community and whatnot. And I thought
- 2:43Speaker 2: there was plenty of last long the way, I thought
- 2:45Speaker 2: they did a very solid job. Well, just like they
- 2:47Speaker 2: put the spring in Springfield, was they put the unity
- 2:49Speaker 2: in community. You're right, Yes, you're misrepresenting me little. I
- 2:53Speaker 2: didn't hate it. I just thought it was there. I
- 2:55Speaker 2: just thought it was there, that's right. It was just fine. Yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 2: which is fine. Of course you're gonna have a bunch
- 2:59Speaker 2: of episodes like that where a bunch of stuff just happens.
- 3:01Speaker 1: But this is the finale of season twenty, so we've
- 3:03Speaker 1: got to the end of season twenty. Guys, we made it.
- 3:05Speaker 2: We made it all the way. What episode number is this,
- 3:07Speaker 2: look at us. It's episode twenty one of season twenty.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I know that of the overall series hoevny episodes of
- 3:13Speaker 1: reviewed now on this show in chronological order. I gonna
- 3:16Speaker 1: get a list of episodes. You continue speaking, well, patting
- 3:18Speaker 1: this out.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Wife, Yeah, well, I'll just dray out one of my
- 3:21Speaker 2: famous lines. It was my understanding there will be no math.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Do you want sar math? Absolutely not.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Oh okay, well season twenty my life avoiding it season twenty.
- 3:29Speaker 1: So that would mean that this episode the finale was
- 3:32Speaker 1: episode four hundred and forty one of the Simpsons.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Moll.
- 3:36Speaker 1: That means there are four hundred and forty one reviews
- 3:38Speaker 1: that there feed listen to, plus a bunch of other
- 3:39Speaker 1: ones we've done as well.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Yeah, correct, Yeah, we've done the odd Guy on Springfield.
- 3:43Speaker 1: There's like, there are so many I think there's like
- 3:46Speaker 1: seven hundred hours of content out there for free. If
- 3:48Speaker 1: you like the free stuff, why do't you pay for
- 3:50Speaker 1: the extra stuff on Patreon.

- 4:09Speaker 2: us here at four Finger Discount. Oh, the Sultan of Sprook.
- 4:12Speaker 2: That's well done, all.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Right, but yeah, coming to Home America. Your first thoughts
- 4:16Speaker 1: of it were it was just kind of there, But look,
- 4:18Speaker 1: what was it about it that didn't make you sort
- 4:20Speaker 1: of didn't take you away?
- 4:21Speaker 2: Well, first of all, Journey. First of all, I was
- 4:22Speaker 2: just astonished by you know that Crystal Ball the Simpsons
- 4:26Speaker 2: seems to how yeah, how it just predicts the future
- 4:29Speaker 2: all the time.
- 4:30Speaker 1: When I built this fence, I was like, Holy Christmas.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it's just like something that's going to happen
- 4:36Speaker 2: in the future, or stuff that's maybe happened in the past,
- 4:38Speaker 2: or stuff that happens in the world. It's not necessarily yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 2: we know what's going to happen years down line. It's
- 4:44Speaker 2: just like people do this. People build walls, people build fences,
- 4:48Speaker 2: people try to separate the other from themselves.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I think more because it was to keep the immigrants out.
- 4:54Speaker 1: That's where so people got this episode again seventeen sixteen
- 4:59Speaker 1: whenever it was yeah, around at that time when Donald
- 5:02Speaker 1: Trump says We're going to build a wall, make them
- 5:04Speaker 1: build it, make them pay for it, that kind of thing.
- 5:06Speaker 1: And it's pretty much exactly to a t what this
- 5:09Speaker 1: episode is. Yeah, this is actually kind of scary how
- 5:11Speaker 1: this isn't predicting the future, but it's just kind of scary.
- 5:13Speaker 2: How on the nose it was well on the money. Actually,
- 5:17Speaker 2: this is not so much the Simpsons sort of being
- 5:19Speaker 2: able to predict the future as Donald Trump just having
- 5:21Speaker 2: no original thoughts.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Yeah, clearly a Simpsons fan.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Well, and that too. Yeah, maybe this was maybe the war.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Wasn't him being you know, an as divisive and trying
- 5:32Speaker 1: to seclude people from America. Maybe it was just him
- 5:35Speaker 1: paying tribute to the Simpsons.
- 5:36Speaker 2: It's just him giving a shout out. Yeah, maybe maybe.
- 5:38Speaker 1: That's his way of really trolling him and going, you
- 5:39Speaker 1: know what, I'm a big fan of season twenty at
- 5:41Speaker 1: the Simpsons, screw your golden era.
- 5:45Speaker 2: I may like golden toilets, and I may like golden
- 5:48Speaker 2: in the White House, but I do not like golden
- 5:51Speaker 2: ear a Simpsons. Maybe his first idea was a dome.
- 5:53Speaker 2: They went, don't play their hits. Yeah, keep that one
- 6:02Speaker 2: up your sleep for when you really need. Yeah. Look,
- 6:05Speaker 2: the framework of this episode, I guess the whole building
- 6:09Speaker 2: a wall, the whole xenophobic thing xylophone. That's correct, not
- 6:13Speaker 2: necessarily one hundred percent played out. I think the core
- 6:16Speaker 2: message of it, though, is like, hey, guess what, there's
- 6:19Speaker 2: more we have more in common than we have dividing us.
- 6:22Speaker 1: How about you just talk to each other about you
- 6:24Speaker 1: just talk to it, which is what happens.
- 6:25Speaker 2: At the end.
- 6:26Speaker 1: You know, they're not using them for work or anything
- 6:28Speaker 1: like that, or they were using them for work because
- 6:29Speaker 1: they building the wall, but they're just killing time doing
- 6:32Speaker 1: some work and just chat, oh, we actually like the
- 6:34Speaker 1: same thing.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yes, indeed, and being quite blatant about it by having
- 6:38Speaker 2: the flann to say, hey, we're not so different you
- 6:40Speaker 2: and I. Now admittedly that line to quote doctor Eevil
- 6:43Speaker 2: has become such a cliche that, you know, using it
- 6:46Speaker 2: becomes a bit sort of tongue in cheek, But at
- 6:48Speaker 2: the same time it's like, okay, thanks for showing us
- 6:50Speaker 2: your hand there episode of The Simpsons, we get the points.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Sometimes you need to dumb it down for the younger
- 6:56Speaker 1: viewers though, And I think this one is a good
- 6:58Speaker 1: example of an episode that you show kids and say
- 7:01Speaker 1: that this is what I think this kind of episode
- 7:03Speaker 1: I'm not saying it was the funniest episode of anything
- 7:05Speaker 1: like that, but I think this is the kind of
- 7:06Speaker 1: episode that really separates your family guys, and even your
- 7:09Speaker 1: futur Rummers to an extent, and your Simpsons right and
- 7:11Speaker 1: your South Parks as well, because this one here is
- 7:14Speaker 1: something that is good for the whole family. Yes, but
- 7:18Speaker 1: at the end of it, kids are being taught something
- 7:19Speaker 1: without probably realizing to being taught something.
- 7:21Speaker 2: By virtue of having a positive message.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just within the show. It's not them pushing it.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I mean, they are kind of pushing it and explaining
- 7:29Speaker 1: it for the younger viewer. But I think I can
- 7:30Speaker 1: put this down and the thing that Holly and Elliott
- 7:33Speaker 1: will take away from it is, oh, we should always
- 7:36Speaker 1: just sort of just include people and just realize that
- 7:38Speaker 1: we're all together in this. Do you think crazy Think
- 7:41Speaker 1: called the World?
- 7:41Speaker 2: Do you think that the viewers of Holly and Elliott's
- 7:43Speaker 2: age are going to be sort of sitting still for
- 7:46Speaker 2: this episode though? I Mean, it's got some but and
- 7:48Speaker 2: Lisa aspects to it, but essentially it's about the adult
- 7:50Speaker 2: community of Springfield. Are they that into.
- 7:52Speaker 1: That there's something about animation that kids just hooked on.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I think the way the fact that the Simpsons yellow
- 7:56Speaker 1: look I put gold in your episodes of The Simpsons
- 7:59Speaker 1: on and there's no way Holly in Elliot are really
- 8:01Speaker 1: following along what's going on.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I was the same.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I remember being a kid watching The Simpsons and going,
- 8:05Speaker 1: I don't quite know what's happening here, but it's cartoon
- 8:08Speaker 1: and it.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Just looks funny. Colors, sound, funny sounds, and yeah, the
- 8:12Speaker 2: occasional joke that you're going to get, and if you're
- 8:14Speaker 2: watching it with an adult in the room, jokes that
- 8:17Speaker 2: they get, and you know, kids are generally going to
- 8:18Speaker 2: be one of like, oh a grown up things that funny.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I'm guessing it should be funny. I'm thinking it should
- 8:24Speaker 2: be funny as well. Let's find out why.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Well, sometimes Ali, I'll notice when we're watching things like
- 8:28Speaker 1: The Simpsons. We started watching The Fresh Prince of Ballet
- 8:30Speaker 1: because I showed them the Carlton Dance and things like that.
- 8:33Speaker 1: So started watching Fresh Prints and he's doing some stuff
- 8:35Speaker 1: and he sort of looks to me as if to say,
- 8:36Speaker 1: that was funny, right, He's laughing like that that was funny. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:39Speaker 1: And he watches me if I laugh. He laughs as well. Okay,
- 8:42Speaker 1: so I think he's just trying to feel like a
- 8:44Speaker 1: grown up a little bit. Yeah, but I think they
- 8:46Speaker 1: would enjoy this episode. I think there was enough happening
- 8:48Speaker 1: in this that it was funny enough visual gags. There
- 8:50Speaker 1: was visual gags the kids to enjoy, visual gags for
- 8:52Speaker 1: adults to enjoy. There was quite a lot happening.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yet that's the thing. I mean, I guess I'm going
- 8:55Speaker 2: to have to take off my adult hat for a
- 8:58Speaker 2: little while and sort of maybe try to view this
- 9:00Speaker 2: as a younger view would as a child would, because yeah,
- 9:03Speaker 2: I mean there's some stuff in this I'm like, really,
- 9:06Speaker 2: And then I think a kid would probably enjoy this. Well,
- 9:08Speaker 2: we'll give me an example of that. Can you remember, Yeah,
- 9:10Speaker 2: the tumbleweed going past with Ralph. Yeah, and then Ralph
- 9:13Speaker 2: sort of going past as a Tumblewe that would slay
- 9:15Speaker 2: with kids, Okay, well not with me. Yeah, but yeah,
- 9:19Speaker 2: I've just got to be more open hearted.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I think that's what The Simpsons is that it's called.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Though it's a small gas board of comedy, it appeals
- 9:25Speaker 1: to kids of all ages. Not every jokes we talked
- 9:28Speaker 1: about Airplane on the movie Guy with Malton and Davis.
- 9:30Speaker 1: How there are so many gags, and not every GAG's
- 9:33Speaker 1: gonna work for you, but it's gonna.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Work for somebody. Correct. Yes, that's a classic example of
- 9:36Speaker 2: that well put, well put.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Yes, But so overall, the story of this episode is
- 9:41Speaker 1: that Krusty has announced new burger, a healthy burger made
- 9:44Speaker 1: of balley. It's tainted. All the barley from Springfield is
- 9:48Speaker 1: imported from Oldenville, and because it was tainted, all the
- 9:52Speaker 1: meals get shut down. Oldenville are out of work, They've
- 9:54Speaker 1: got no nowhere to go. The town's just deserted. They
- 9:56Speaker 1: all moved to Springfield, and because they're good with their hands,
- 9:58Speaker 1: they can build stuff. They take all the jobs that
- 10:00Speaker 1: we don't want to do, which I think is the
- 10:02Speaker 1: ultimate line from this episode, Right, they're taking out jobs.
- 10:05Speaker 1: It's like the jobs that you weren't doing.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Yes, it's very interesting that our sort of upcoming recording
- 10:11Speaker 2: schedule yeah includes Yeah, we're going to do an episode
- 10:14Speaker 2: of going down to South Park and is the episode
- 10:15Speaker 2: titled Gobags, which is essentially not the same thing Unified
- 10:20Speaker 2: four fingered discount. It's a real thing. You think we'd
- 10:23Speaker 2: lie to you about this? We wouldn't, but that's the thing.
- 10:28Speaker 2: So the story is that they come to Springfield and
- 10:32Speaker 2: the Springfieldians employ the Oldenvillians to who are all Norwegian
- 10:37Speaker 2: based because Norwegian immigrants came there based the whole town
- 10:40Speaker 2: one hundred years ago. They are good at building the
- 10:42Speaker 2: houses blah blah blah. But then all of a sudden
- 10:44Speaker 2: they start realizing that they don't want them around anymore
- 10:48Speaker 2: because they're taking over the town. The sense.
- 10:50Speaker 1: They go to their bar, and I think this is
- 10:51Speaker 1: the thing. All the things that they bring in are
- 10:53Speaker 1: actually good.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Most like no, they pay with cash, they're clean, and
- 10:58Speaker 2: all their history is like the enchanting and interesting, and
- 11:01Speaker 2: their mythology is rich and enchanting. Yeah, they's nothing but pleasant.
- 11:04Speaker 1: But the hospital is a four, which means that margins
- 11:06Speaker 1: can't get but it can't be seen at the hospital,
- 11:08Speaker 1: that kind of thing. So people are being annoyed because
- 11:11Speaker 1: there's too many people in Springfield now, so they build
- 11:12Speaker 1: a wall to keep them out.
- 11:14Speaker 2: But was always the case, right, I mean, yes, we're
- 11:17Speaker 2: fine with immigration, we're fine with people coming to us,
- 11:20Speaker 2: but oh, we love your culture, you know, we love
- 11:22Speaker 2: your work ethic all that kind of stuff. Oh wait,
- 11:25Speaker 2: a minute. Now, you're a dreined on our resources. Oh,
- 11:28Speaker 2: your culture is overtaking ours, maybe by virtual of the
- 11:30Speaker 2: fact that it's probably more rigid and chanting than ours. Yeah,
- 11:34Speaker 2: I mean that that's a lesson that it's always the case,
- 11:38Speaker 2: that's not always the case. Not black and white.
- 11:41Speaker 1: This is not you can't just you can't just go, oh,
- 11:43Speaker 1: we should just always let immigrants and that's not.
- 11:45Speaker 2: How the world works. Oh, absolutely not. This is something
- 11:47Speaker 2: I wanted to talk about. Yeah, I mean, because yeah,
- 11:49Speaker 2: it's very easy to be open hearted and say, yeah,
- 11:53Speaker 2: what's the thing on the on the bottom of the
- 11:55Speaker 2: statuere liberty, give us your poor, you're tired, you're hungry. Yeah,
- 11:57Speaker 2: I mean we all want to be generous. We all
- 12:00Speaker 2: want to open our homes and our hearts. Not necessarily
- 12:02Speaker 2: our homes, but yeah, open our borders to people. It's like,
- 12:05Speaker 2: what's the lines like you don't leave home unless home
- 12:07Speaker 2: wants to kill you. As a line that you hear about,
- 12:10Speaker 2: you know, when people are coming from more torn countries
- 12:12Speaker 2: or something like that. You want to do the right
- 12:15Speaker 2: thing if you're a person with a functioning soul. Yeah,
- 12:18Speaker 2: But at the same time, yeah, you do have to
- 12:20Speaker 2: be you do have to set some manneries and you
- 12:22Speaker 2: do have to set some limits. There in lies the conflict,
- 12:25Speaker 2: doesn't it There and lies the tension.
- 12:26Speaker 1: I was going to say that they maybe should have
- 12:29Speaker 1: acknowledged more how it's not just black and white. They
- 12:31Speaker 1: should have been allowed in, but maybe situations like the
- 12:34Speaker 1: hospitals being full was their way of way of doing.
- 12:36Speaker 1: This can be a detriment as well. Yeah, there's a
- 12:39Speaker 1: child here who needs to be seen, but he can't
- 12:40Speaker 1: becuse there's too many people in the emergency room.
- 12:42Speaker 2: They did shoot themselves in the foot a little bit
- 12:44Speaker 2: by making the ogdenvillions what is known as quote unquote
- 12:47Speaker 2: Minnesota nice. Yeah, yeah, I mean that's a plus.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Also, they're all in hospital from being injured by working
- 12:53Speaker 1: for the Springfield in the Yeah, so there's.
- 12:55Speaker 2: A bit going on under the hood here. Yeah, they've
- 12:57Speaker 2: got some ideas.
- 12:58Speaker 1: But I thought, overall though, they handled it very well,
- 13:02Speaker 1: because an episode that could have been very racist. She said,
- 13:06Speaker 1: compared this to the was it mypods and boomsticks were home.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I thought everybody was a terrorist. That was so different
- 13:13Speaker 1: from this. This one was handled much more elegantly and
- 13:16Speaker 1: much more carefully. And I think they did it good.
- 13:19Speaker 1: It was clever to not use Afghanistan's Well.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I was about to say, are they, you know, sort
- 13:25Speaker 2: of not sitting. Are they giving themselves an escape patch
- 13:27Speaker 2: by making the quote unquote immigrants the whitest of the whites.
- 13:30Speaker 1: That's the thing. Yes, that's that's But also is that
- 13:32Speaker 1: their way of I say, tricking with quotation marks a
- 13:36Speaker 1: viewer who might be obliged to go let them lock
- 13:39Speaker 1: them out right, And because they're all white, the whites,
- 13:41Speaker 1: it's like, oh, they're not so bad. And all of
- 13:42Speaker 1: a sudden they start taking over and they go, oh,
- 13:44Speaker 1: I see what you did there.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Oh I thought you were giving him a nice spoonful
- 13:48Speaker 2: of peanut butter. There's medicine in there. What the hell?
- 13:51Speaker 1: But it got a Disneyland, So maybe that was their
- 13:55Speaker 1: choice to do so so they can go, hey, it's
- 13:58Speaker 1: not just what you define as an immigrant. Immigrants are
- 14:01Speaker 1: all kinds. It's not just black or white. Wow what
- 14:05Speaker 1: I did there? He went there, don't go there. But yeah,
- 14:10Speaker 1: I enjoyed it. Yeah, and I'm glad that we didn't
- 14:12Speaker 1: get a Lisa haih in her mighty subplot here as well.
- 14:15Speaker 1: She she chimed him by saying, you guys were all
- 14:16Speaker 1: immigrants once. Oh yeah, that was it. Yeah, there wasn't
- 14:19Speaker 1: her grandstanding anything. It was just her acknowledging you do
- 14:22Speaker 1: realize that we're all immigrants.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, which is a line that's yea frequently trotted
- 14:27Speaker 2: out but is not untrue.
- 14:30Speaker 1: My favorite will be your favorite moments from the episode.
- 14:34Speaker 2: I love this exchange at the very start where Krusty's
- 14:36Speaker 2: talking about his burgers and how everything's exceeding. I really liked,
- 14:39Speaker 2: insanely like the whole opening bit. Yeah, but the whole
- 14:42Speaker 2: what worse than the double Krsty burger somehow? Yes, a
- 14:46Speaker 2: good line out of that.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I just liked the whole Waka Green
- 14:50Speaker 1: Rapper on it charged double and look, it's so accurate.
- 14:52Speaker 2: It's very true. We'll get into that when we get
- 14:55Speaker 2: to review. But what else did you like? As someone
- 14:58Speaker 2: who is notoriously not hansy though well, I'm very handsy.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Home is lying about having a bad history of going
- 15:05Speaker 2: up on roofs and any other hospitals I can relate.
- 15:08Speaker 2: So I thought that was the last time you got
- 15:09Speaker 2: on a roof. I think I've been up on the
- 15:11Speaker 2: Lovely Louise's roof to help out. That would have been
- 15:14Speaker 2: a year or so ago.
- 15:15Speaker 1: We used to get on the roof to watch the
- 15:16Speaker 1: fireworks in the years eve when I was younger.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Roofs are fun when you're a kid, but when you're
- 15:22Speaker 2: old dangerous.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I've got a story. So we've got three cats now
- 15:26Speaker 1: obviously you or this if you listen to the podcast.
- 15:28Speaker 1: And one of them wasn't back and it was night time,
- 15:30Speaker 1: and usually they're back in by it by night, right,
- 15:32Speaker 1: And they went outside and shook the cat food and
- 15:34Speaker 1: I could just hear them just.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I was like, oh, where is she? Where she trapped?
- 15:39Speaker 1: What's going on? And I couldn't see anything. It was dark, right,
- 15:42Speaker 1: So I get my phone out, torch, go on my phone,
- 15:45Speaker 1: shine up and I see the two eyes and it's
- 15:46Speaker 1: on a roof, not next door, but the house behind
- 15:49Speaker 1: next door over there. So she's gotten on the roof,
- 15:51Speaker 1: this little cocoa kitten, and she can't get down. So
- 15:54Speaker 1: they're not home. Next door's not home. So I jumped
- 15:57Speaker 1: next doors fence, jump into the back out the other
- 15:59Speaker 1: one because I know they've got no I'm going just
- 16:01Speaker 1: jump off the.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Rooftop of theroof.
- 16:02Speaker 1: She wouldn't get off the roof. There's dogs on either
- 16:03Speaker 1: side of that house. So she went up on the fence.
- 16:05Speaker 1: And how she got up there in the first place,
- 16:06Speaker 1: I'm not too sure, right, So she's meam meam mew.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Then I see so a vision. I'm looking from the
- 16:11Speaker 1: back of the house. A new set of eyes pick
- 16:13Speaker 1: over from the side of the house over sort of
- 16:15Speaker 1: the sort of goes up and down sort of to
- 16:18Speaker 1: the corner. So over the bit of the roof, over
- 16:20Speaker 1: the groove, there's two eyes. It's a dirty big tom cat.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So she's like trapped on the roof of this dirty
- 16:25Speaker 1: big tom cat and it's just like looking at her,
- 16:27Speaker 1: and it ran away when it saw me. But I
- 16:29Speaker 1: had to. Then I went around to the side of
- 16:31Speaker 1: this person's house. Got to had milk rates there, so
- 16:34Speaker 1: I stacked up three milk crates. It was like an acrobatics.
- 16:38Speaker 2: It's like on.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Grass, so it's not steady. And then I'm standing on these.
- 16:42Speaker 1: He's got my phone torch in one hand. Coco gets
- 16:44Speaker 1: near the end. I grab her by the scruff, holding
- 16:46Speaker 1: her in one hand. Then Nicola yells that but I
- 16:49Speaker 1: start shaking. I thought I'm down that I'm done for.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I keep my balance, get the cat, throw her over
- 16:53Speaker 1: the fence. She's fine, get back down. And because I
- 16:55Speaker 1: got back in a half and a plf to try
- 16:57Speaker 1: and help Nickel because she'd left just water on the
- 17:00Speaker 1: stove or something, orders i'd run back home. I forgot
- 17:02Speaker 1: to put the crates back. So these guys are going
- 17:04Speaker 1: to get home and there's just three crates strategically stacked
- 17:08Speaker 1: up next to their roof. What do you think they're
- 17:09Speaker 1: going to think when they get home?
- 17:10Speaker 2: Oh?
- 17:11Speaker 1: Well, what do you think they thought when they got home?
- 17:12Speaker 1: One word poltergeist.
- 17:14Speaker 2: So they're going to get home and go Why are
- 17:16Speaker 2: our milk creaks from the side of the house now
- 17:17Speaker 2: at the back of the house and stacked up next
- 17:19Speaker 2: to the house. You'd be You'd be, oh, you think
- 17:22Speaker 2: that the joint was being cased. Yeah.
- 17:24Speaker 1: So now if I came home that had happened, I
- 17:26Speaker 1: would think, Oh, I'd be locking on the doors, getting
- 17:28Speaker 1: extra security, gets the cameras. So I forgot to tell them.
- 17:31Speaker 1: So it's now been three days. Do I just not
- 17:33Speaker 1: say anything?
- 17:33Speaker 2: Now? Is it too long? Is it too long to go? Hey?
- 17:36Speaker 2: By the way, that was me because I feel like,
- 17:37Speaker 2: now they've gone the extra mile and ordered extra security.
- 17:39Speaker 2: How was your relationship with these neighbors. We don't know.
- 17:41Speaker 2: They've never met them in my life. No, I don't know.
- 17:43Speaker 2: That's the thing. I don't know them. So now I
- 17:45Speaker 2: feel like now, because if they were any okay, we've
- 17:47Speaker 2: got the benefit of ignorance at this day, so I
- 17:49Speaker 2: would just let it lie. I think I'm just going
- 17:50Speaker 2: to let it lie because I think if they're a
- 17:52Speaker 2: sensible person, they've ordered security cameras. Now they have already
- 17:54Speaker 2: got them, right, And I think if they've got security cameras,
- 17:56Speaker 2: they would have already got the footage because we have
- 17:58Speaker 2: like a state community Facebook group and I always post
- 18:01Speaker 2: videos in there. If they had security cameras, I'd already
- 18:03Speaker 2: be in there. And this thing, the name of that
- 18:04Speaker 2: neighbor was actually Dave Pretzel's mcnow, longtime listener of the show,
- 18:09Speaker 2: now knows what happened.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, Yeah, you need me year it. Speaking of
- 18:15Speaker 1: new names, and congratulations again Jared for winning the new names.
- 18:18Speaker 1: But other people can enter the world card draw if
- 18:20Speaker 1: they get it.
- 18:20Speaker 2: That is correct.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Were trying to get that three points so we can
- 18:23Speaker 1: become Philip Ja again for next season.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Well, we're going to give him because Jay, we've got
- 18:27Speaker 2: three points of stime with Okay, well we'll see what happened.
- 18:30Speaker 1: We'll get to that when we get to them that
- 18:31Speaker 1: we get to that. But we've got more favorite, I'll
- 18:34Speaker 1: say one more. We're getting some trivia. I really liked
- 18:36Speaker 1: the visual gag. This is probably one of my favorite
- 18:39Speaker 1: gags visual gags of The Simpsons in quite some time.
- 18:42Speaker 1: The closed sign store. All the store, everything's closed down,
- 18:46Speaker 1: but the sign that sells closed signs is open and
- 18:49Speaker 1: just selling out.
- 18:50Speaker 2: I was like, that's a funny gag. That's pretty good.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I don't want more. This felt like old school Homer.
- 18:57Speaker 2: There's a lot of bad Homer in this. I mean
- 18:59Speaker 2: and not and not just I don't mean jerk out something,
- 19:02Speaker 2: just lazy gags. It's like home is a dummy, Let's
- 19:05Speaker 2: have him say this dumb thing.
- 19:07Speaker 1: There's a couple of moments where he sort of said
- 19:08Speaker 1: something out loud and I was like, this scene just
- 19:10Speaker 1: didn't need that.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Yeah. I think one of those is like where's my
- 19:13Speaker 2: Nobel price? Like what's the point? There's no that adds nothing,
- 19:18Speaker 2: But this I liked when they go on the double
- 19:20Speaker 2: date and I know what you're gonna say. Yeah, yeah,
- 19:23Speaker 2: it's like talk about taking jobs. Three wild men don't
- 19:26Speaker 2: want that feels like old school home. It didn't in
- 19:29Speaker 2: terms of like yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, but it
- 19:32Speaker 2: was not even like acknowledge it's not it was a
- 19:34Speaker 2: drive by. It's a it's a pretty it's a decent gage.
- 19:38Speaker 2: It is. Yeah, but and it's also the kind of
- 19:40Speaker 2: gag that Homer would think is just like champagne comedy.
- 19:45Speaker 2: And also, you know, we're all just blokes here. Yeah,
- 19:48Speaker 2: oh love that. Yeah. So I thought that was really
- 19:50Speaker 2: really good and just oh it's like you still know
- 19:52Speaker 2: how to do it. Yeah.
- 19:53Speaker 1: The most episode was written by Brendan Hay and it's
- 19:56Speaker 1: the only episode of The Simpsons he ever wrote.
- 19:58Speaker 2: That's correct. I did a little deep diving. I did
- 20:01Speaker 2: a little shallow dive. There's not a whole lot there,
- 20:03Speaker 2: but it's a knee high diving. I did a bit
- 20:05Speaker 2: of waiting and found that Britain Hay he's he's done
- 20:08Speaker 2: a bit of work in comic books, on TV shows,
- 20:10Speaker 2: things like that. He also co wrote a book called
- 20:12Speaker 2: Is It Just Me? Or Is Everything Shit? Based on
- 20:15Speaker 2: this episode, it's just you no, no, no, sorry, that's
- 20:18Speaker 2: a low hanging through that gag. He didn't completely watch
- 20:22Speaker 2: this episode, but he did have some one or two
- 20:23Speaker 2: gigs and then they didn't.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Sound like your spirit animal though? Is it just me
- 20:26Speaker 1: as everything?
- 20:26Speaker 2: Shit?
- 20:27Speaker 1: It sounds like the book of your life these days?
- 20:29Speaker 1: Well a little bit you come in your really shit.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I like to think I phrased a little more elegantly.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Having said that, I'm maybe not the only person that
- 20:38Speaker 2: feels this way, given that we have patrons who are saying, hey, guy, Dando,
- 20:42Speaker 2: you're ever going to do that? Shit's fact, mate, Shore. Yeah,
- 20:45Speaker 2: which we might do. What do a test pilots see
- 20:47Speaker 2: what the will numbers are like? Yeah.
- 20:49Speaker 1: He also directed the which I haven't seen yet, the
- 20:51Speaker 1: Gremlins animated prequel series. I'd never want to watch it.
- 20:54Speaker 1: It's been a for years now.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yes, and artists. What's it called? Is it called Legend
- 20:58Speaker 2: of the Mogwires?
- 20:59Speaker 1: I don't know, but I just Gremlins. To me a
- 21:01Speaker 1: puppets man, They gotta puppets of it can't be animated.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I call me old fashion. But he also Dawn of
- 21:06Speaker 1: the CRUs and other DreamWorks work. So you know this
- 21:09Speaker 1: guy's he's a worker. Yeah, he is a worker. Indeed, Yeah,
- 21:11Speaker 1: what Star Wars Detours? He's the writer of the unreleased
- 21:16Speaker 1: animated Star Wars comedy star Wars Detours an unreleased comedy.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Okay, what does it mean? Has just been made? It
- 21:21Speaker 2: hasn't been released yet? Or is it so bad that
- 21:23Speaker 2: it can never be released? Star Wars Detours?
- 21:26Speaker 1: Do you want a little bit of a liftime? Do
- 21:28Speaker 1: mean to wait around and show you? What it says?
- 21:30Speaker 1: Is an unaired American animated comedy series is differentiated from
- 21:34Speaker 1: the other Star Wars animated series and that it is
- 21:36Speaker 1: a parody of the franchise. It offers a comedic take
- 21:38Speaker 1: on what happened between the prequel trilogy one, two, and
- 21:41Speaker 1: three and the original trilogy. The series was produced by
- 21:43Speaker 1: Lucasfilm in collaboration with Robot Chicken creator Seth Green and
- 21:46Speaker 1: Matthews Cenric Cenric sounds about right, mat and Although thirty
- 21:51Speaker 1: nine episodes of the show were produced, their release has
- 21:53Speaker 1: been on hold since twenty thirteen following Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm.
- 21:58Speaker 2: When so they're out there, someone, there's thirty one episodes
- 22:00Speaker 2: of the show that we have not seen for ten years.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Footage of the series debut at Star Wars celebration in
- 22:05Speaker 1: mid twenty twelve. It was planned to be set between
- 22:07Speaker 1: the events of the trilogy, as I said. In March
- 22:09Speaker 1: twenty thirteen, Lucas Film postponed the release of the series
- 22:12Speaker 1: after reconsidering whether a comedy series would be a sensible
- 22:14Speaker 1: way to introduce the franchise to new fans. When a
- 22:16Speaker 1: sequel trilogy was being produced by Disney. That September, Seth
- 22:19Speaker 1: Green said, thirt nine episodes have been completed, with sixty
- 22:21Speaker 1: two additional scripts finished, and it's just never been released.
- 22:24Speaker 1: I knew that the Robot Chicken, the latest update beyond
- 22:28Speaker 1: it were. At twenty twenty five Star Wars Celebration Japan,
- 22:31Speaker 1: a Lucasfilm Animation retrospective poster was released, featuring a storm
- 22:34Speaker 1: Trooper from the series among the studio's wild array of projects.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Collider cided that sided this as the first official acknowledgment
- 22:41Speaker 1: of the series in over a decade.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Wow, sort of out there, Disney, So it's there somewhere.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Let the people decide. I feel like now is the
- 22:47Speaker 2: right time to release something like this. Why do you
- 22:49Speaker 2: think because people are sick of the Star Wars original
- 22:52Speaker 2: series on Disney. Plus you know, I know you're a
- 22:54Speaker 2: big fan of and Or, but many people aren't excited
- 22:57Speaker 2: for Star Wars anymore. I think this will be one
- 22:59Speaker 2: way of it feels like this has been held backed
- 23:02Speaker 2: by Disney because this wasn't our, so you're not going
- 23:04Speaker 2: to see it. I feel if Disney released this in
- 23:07Speaker 2: my bit of good faith with the hardcore Star Wars fans.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Quite possibly, a Star Wars series parroting the series sounds fun. Interesting,
- 23:14Speaker 2: the star Trek, what was? What does Star Wars have
- 23:17Speaker 2: coming up?
- 23:17Speaker 1: Are they working on a new trilogy? I don't think
- 23:19Speaker 1: that the own will is the Mandalorian movie.
- 23:21Speaker 2: I guess the only other one that I know about
- 23:23Speaker 2: is Star Wars Colin star Fighter starring Ryan.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Gosling, Wayne Gosling. No way, yeah, all right, So upcoming
- 23:30Speaker 1: Star Wars projects everal new Star Wars movies are in
- 23:32Speaker 1: development and up been coming. The next film slated for
- 23:34Speaker 1: releases The Mandalorian and Grogoo The Worst Name of All
- 23:36Speaker 1: Time set the premiere twenty twenty six, following that Star
- 23:39Speaker 1: Wars Star Fighter twenty twenty seven. Several other projects are
- 23:42Speaker 1: also in the works, including a movie centered around Ray
- 23:44Speaker 1: Skywalker and a trilogy by Simon Kimberg, according to Space
- 23:48Speaker 1: dot Com. Okay, anyway, but back to coming to America.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Yes, indeed we took a bit of a Star Wars
- 23:53Speaker 2: tangent y Brendan Hayes. He write some good gags. Yes.

- 24:22Speaker 3: Next question you there eating the Beast.
- 24:25Speaker 1: My first question for you is how much percentage of
- 24:29Speaker 1: false Hey Hayes, are the pregnancy test giving? I want
- 24:33Speaker 1: to say twenty twenty is correct?
- 24:34Speaker 2: Yes? Yeah. At Krusty Berger, mm hmm. What is the
- 24:38Speaker 2: little bonus treat you get when you order a crusty meal?
- 24:42Speaker 2: Bonus treat? It's on the menu.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Ah, I didn't notice that. It's like a little kids
- 24:47Speaker 1: having meal toy kind of thing.
- 24:48Speaker 2: It is, but it's krusty related. What do you think
- 24:50Speaker 2: about it's a free slide whistle?
- 24:53Speaker 1: Can I just acknowledge went to a birthday party? Get
- 24:55Speaker 1: on the weekend? Right anyway? Life, Yes, this is a
- 24:59Speaker 1: little teaser for shits fucked, mate, It's not really shit's fucked.
- 25:02Speaker 1: It's just more like things that grand my gears. Yes,
- 25:04Speaker 1: as a parent, right, who has to go to a
- 25:05Speaker 1: lot of kids birthday parties these days? And kids love
- 25:07Speaker 1: their party bags?
- 25:08Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Don't put whistles in your party bags or anything that
- 25:13Speaker 1: makes a loud noise in the party bag, because then
- 25:16Speaker 1: all that happens on the way home is noises in
- 25:19Speaker 1: the backs there of the car. Don't put whistles in
- 25:22Speaker 1: party bags. People, don't do it?
- 25:24Speaker 3: Please?
- 25:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah, terrible a fun idea in concept, But there
- 25:27Speaker 1: are many things that seem fun in concept, but when
- 25:29Speaker 1: you actually execute them terrible decision. Whistles and things that
- 25:32Speaker 1: make loud sounds in party bags are one of them.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I wholly agree with you. I know I sound old
- 25:37Speaker 1: right now, but you are.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Old right now. I am old right now. Okay, My
- 25:42Speaker 2: next question to you, the Barley farmer being interviewed by
- 25:45Speaker 2: Ken Brockman. What is his wife's name? Ah?
- 25:47Speaker 1: Men, this literally I was going to go back and
- 25:49Speaker 1: get the notes for it, and I didn't. I'm gonna
- 25:50Speaker 1: say Helen.
- 25:52Speaker 2: And you'd be wrong. It's Dagney, Dagony.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Okay, they all had funny names, didn't They must just
- 25:56Speaker 1: say different different.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Come on, man, I.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Learned nothing from us, right, terrible of me. So my
- 26:02Speaker 1: next question for you is what was the show that
- 26:04Speaker 1: the family were watching before they saw the commercial for
- 26:07Speaker 1: the new Krusty Burger the It.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Was the Drowningest Catch. Yeah, you know, it seemed to
- 26:13Speaker 2: be correct, that is right. What is the name of
- 26:17Speaker 2: the king who's on the Norwegian coins or the Ogden
- 26:21Speaker 2: billion coins?
- 26:22Speaker 1: Yeah, they say, I can't remember. It is Harold the Fifth,
- 26:25Speaker 1: Harold the Fifth.
- 26:26Speaker 2: All right.
- 26:26Speaker 1: My final question for you will be how many of
- 26:29Speaker 1: the Mother Nature burgers did Homer actually eat?
- 26:32Speaker 2: Yeah? It doesn't, Yeah, it doesn't. Indeed, yes, apparently everybody
- 26:35Speaker 2: had one. Yeah. I initially thought, oh, Homer is sick
- 26:37Speaker 2: because he ate too much of this stuff, and you know,
- 26:39Speaker 2: it's barley, It's going to go right through it. So
- 26:41Speaker 2: this was a bit a little bit of an interesting swerve.
- 26:43Speaker 2: It's like, oh, okay, I didn't know where the episode
- 26:46Speaker 2: was going.
- 26:46Speaker 1: This actually fell like a classic opening act, didn't it.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I quite enjoyed the start of this episode.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I enjoyed the episode overall. But yeah, that is all
- 26:53Speaker 1: my trivia. Do you have any more questions for me?
- 26:54Speaker 1: One last quarter?
- 26:55Speaker 2: Then do it? Okay? Then the kid who offers art
- 26:58Speaker 2: the primer paint at the end, Yeah, at the end,
- 27:00Speaker 2: he's wearing a sports jersey's got a number on it.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Do you remember that number? Sixteen? You're awfully closed eighteen? Yeah, indeed,
- 27:09Speaker 2: this is what this is what gets you in trouble.
- 27:11Speaker 2: You keep thinking, Hey, eighteen turns out to be sixteen.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Oh jail beat hey entry into Speaking of the Hill
- 27:21Speaker 2: and those shows will make a lot more sense.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Yeah, we've just relaunched Speaking of the Hill on our
- 27:25Speaker 1: Patreon if you like King of the Hill since the
- 27:26Speaker 1: show's just been rebooted. We're currently in the midst of

- 28:52Speaker 1: Our discord channel, our Facebook community, so much stuff support
- 28:55Speaker 1: the show. Okay, so let's get into our reviews. Shall
- 28:58Speaker 1: we have come into a marker which originally aired May seventeenth,
- 29:02Speaker 1: two thousand and nine. The top three films at the
- 29:04Speaker 1: US box office at that time in number three X
- 29:06Speaker 1: Men Oranges, Wolverine Boo in number two Star Trek pretty good,
- 29:10Speaker 1: and in number one Angels and Demons Never Seen It.
- 29:12Speaker 1: It's the same three films as last week. It is
- 29:14Speaker 1: the sequel to the Vinci Code. It is not that great.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Let's go back and see what we what is the
- 29:19Speaker 1: next the seasons obviously finished. Now let's see what was
- 29:22Speaker 1: number one going forward after this? So okay, so next
- 29:25Speaker 1: week we have number one Night at the Museum, the
- 29:28Speaker 1: number two The Smithsonian one, Battle of the Mis Simsonian
- 29:31Speaker 1: After that was up, then The Hangover came around and
- 29:33Speaker 1: was number one for a few weeks. Then Transformers Revenge
- 29:36Speaker 1: of the Fall Fallen was number one for a while.
- 29:39Speaker 1: As I say, Age Down of the Dinosaurs. Harry Potter,
- 29:41Speaker 1: The Half Blood Prince g Force, Funny.
- 29:43Speaker 2: People was number one for one week.
- 29:45Speaker 1: G I Joe The Rise of Cobra was number one.
- 29:48Speaker 1: District nine good movie, solid inglorious basses number one. The
- 29:52Speaker 1: final destination I can do bad all by myself, clad
- 29:56Speaker 1: with a chance of meat balls. And that's where the
- 29:58Speaker 1: Simpsons Season twenty one kicks offs of. I'll keep that
- 30:00Speaker 1: one to myself. But yeah, some good movies in there,
- 30:02Speaker 1: but not in the level of when we just did
- 30:04Speaker 1: Hanks thirty Launde. What was that was like Titanic? A
- 30:06Speaker 1: few good Will Hunting was in there, Will Hunting, the
- 30:10Speaker 1: Wedding Singer, and then as good as it guess what
- 30:12Speaker 1: a line?
- 30:15Speaker 2: Take me back? All right?
- 30:17Speaker 1: So, as we said, The original edit was March May seventeenth,
- 30:20Speaker 1: two thousand and nine. Production code La b F one two,
- 30:23Speaker 1: written by Brendan Hay, directed by Stephen Dean Moore. Chopball,
- 30:27Speaker 1: gig It's Facebook Not Ass Book now there's a new
- 30:29Speaker 1: thing here. So there's chip ll gag, catch gag. They're
- 30:32Speaker 1: the usual two correct, but modern day Simpsons. When I
- 30:34Speaker 1: say modern day will sleep, there's now the billboard gag
- 30:37Speaker 1: in the instruments and I've written it down and this
- 30:39Speaker 1: one here I should have done it for the other
- 30:40Speaker 1: ones as well, but for this one here it is
- 30:42Speaker 1: spied a pig of the musical music by you two
- 30:45Speaker 1: and Alf Clawson.
- 30:46Speaker 2: That's rest in peace, Alf rip elf. Yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 1: And the catch gag was the one from How the
- 30:51Speaker 1: Test was one, which is probably one of my favorite
- 30:52Speaker 1: catch gags in a while where they go to all
- 30:54Speaker 1: the various sitcoms.
- 30:55Speaker 2: It's a good one. They've used it about five times.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Five times, have they really? Yeah? Okay, yeah, well I
- 30:59Speaker 2: mean not prior to this, but five times in total. Okay.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Well, if you need to pad time out and fill
- 31:03Speaker 1: time because you can't be bothered writing something, this is
- 31:05Speaker 1: the one to use.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Sure. Yeah. Indeed.
- 31:07Speaker 1: The episode kicks off at Krusty Loo Studios and Krusty
- 31:11Speaker 1: uses playing chess with Teeny. He falls right into his trap,
- 31:14Speaker 1: just like he did in Africa. Then his agent, who's
- 31:16Speaker 1: appeared a few times now, his agent, and he says,
- 31:18Speaker 1: your home pregnancy tests are giving false He hayes of
- 31:21Speaker 1: the twenty percent of them, it was to say, hey,
- 31:23Speaker 1: are you and it's not mine? He says, don't worry
- 31:26Speaker 1: about this. Krusty is a illegitimate businessman. Repackage them, mark
- 31:30Speaker 1: them as coffee stirs, and sell them in the Philippines.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Genius. Now another rasue studies show your Krusty burger is
- 31:38Speaker 2: the unhealthiest fast food item in the world, worse than
- 31:42Speaker 2: a double Krusty Burger somehow. Yes, okay, here's what we do.
- 31:48Speaker 2: What's that food we never put in any of our meals. Vegetables? Yeah,
- 31:51Speaker 2: those guys find the cheapest one and make a burger
- 31:55Speaker 2: out of it, then throw it in a green wrapper
- 31:56Speaker 2: and double the price and say it's gotten. None of
- 31:59Speaker 2: those those unhealthy sounding.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Things trans fats.
- 32:04Speaker 2: That's it. While you're in there, spray a little nicotine
- 32:06Speaker 2: juice on the kid's meals. Get them looked.
- 32:10Speaker 1: The idea of healthy food I've mentioned this in the
- 32:12Speaker 1: podcast before at fast food restaurants just seems so redundant
- 32:15Speaker 1: to me. So, yeah, if you go into a fast
- 32:18Speaker 1: food restaurant, you're going for fast food you're going for
- 32:21Speaker 1: empty calories, like, don't try and fool yourself into thinking
- 32:23Speaker 1: you're doing good bye yourself. Just if you're gonna eat healthy,
- 32:26Speaker 1: go to the middle, roll onder macas, get some maccas,
- 32:29Speaker 1: get some mc nuggies with some mustard and whatnot.
- 32:31Speaker 2: You know, some honey mustard?
- 32:32Speaker 1: Yeah, is that your nugget? Dip of sauce?
- 32:36Speaker 2: It is?
- 32:37Speaker 1: Who has it with sauce? I mean a happy meal tomatoes,
- 32:40Speaker 1: smato sauce, not bad. It's got to be the honey mustard.
- 32:43Speaker 2: It mat. I'm gonna throw one of the Lovely Louisa's
- 32:45Speaker 2: kids under the bus, but they will.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Oca make sure they stay there. Throw them right under.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Oh yes, exactly. I cat dirt on the bury them
- 32:52Speaker 2: under there occasually. Oh need a snack, okay, put some
- 32:57Speaker 2: nuggets in the air. Fryer gonna have a be the
- 32:59Speaker 2: sauce and is having ketchup play on tomato sauce. But
- 33:03Speaker 2: I can't condone this. I won't sanction this buffoonery.
- 33:05Speaker 1: You haven't lived until you've tried aoli as well as
- 33:08Speaker 1: good Yeah, oh yeah, Honestly, my life was never the
- 33:10Speaker 1: same after I tried Ali. I was I have to
- 33:12Speaker 1: do everything in this now. Okay, but it's so bad
- 33:14Speaker 1: for you, but it's so good.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Here's the thing. If you're getting like a sizeable amount
- 33:17Speaker 2: of nuggets from KFC or from McDonald's or what or wherever,
- 33:23Speaker 2: and you're offered the option of more than one sauce,
- 33:26Speaker 2: are you just getting double the honey mustard or are
- 33:28Speaker 2: you getting a bit of variety.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I'm getting whatever form of aoli they have and a mustard.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Okay, I will get honey mustard and sweet and sour.
- 33:36Speaker 1: You have never been a sweet and sour man. Too sweet,
- 33:38Speaker 1: too sour.
- 33:40Speaker 2: I can't fault that, arg I can't fault your line
- 33:42Speaker 2: of thinking there. But that's what I'll get. And I
- 33:44Speaker 2: think the two well kind of com They're different enough,
- 33:47Speaker 2: are they? Okay?
- 33:48Speaker 1: Yes, When I get a steak, I get garlic sauce
- 33:50Speaker 1: and mushroom sauce, and I'm mix them together. We always
- 33:52Speaker 1: do it at the Park of Steakhouse. Don't just get
- 33:55Speaker 1: the one, go to get the two and mix them together.
- 33:56Speaker 1: It makes the ultimate sauce for your steak. So you say, yeah,
- 34:00Speaker 1: I dip the nugget with two sources at the same time.
- 34:02Speaker 2: I never have had. Maybe you should try that next time.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Maybe I should.
- 34:05Speaker 1: I dipped one end in one one and the other
- 34:07Speaker 1: and then just put it all in your mouth and
- 34:08Speaker 1: his gat what is his taste?
- 34:10Speaker 2: Like? Honey? I broke my rule to myself the other
- 34:14Speaker 2: day because it's Friday night. What's your rule? Oh? I
- 34:17Speaker 2: was exhausted. It was Friday night. Was like I said,
- 34:19Speaker 2: the lovely Louise like, I'm just staying and I can't
- 34:22Speaker 2: be ours cooking. I'm just gonna go get some fish
- 34:24Speaker 2: and chips. My fish and chip shopping around the corner.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Was it closed? Really? The one I ever? Yeah, I
- 34:30Speaker 2: don't know.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Chippy apparently like English chipies with their homemade they cut
- 34:34Speaker 1: them and come and makes them at the back. That's awesome, Adam.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Yeah we got to try them.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Yeah, good place. Shout out to Nick and Pete. Nick
- 34:40Speaker 2: and Pete shout out. They were either extremely busy, because
- 34:43Speaker 2: I think it was a I think cats were playing
- 34:45Speaker 2: at home on on Friday night, watching it on the
- 34:47Speaker 2: Telly Essendon game yours Friday, yep, yep, So they may
- 34:50Speaker 2: have just been flat out busy. Maybe also a possibility,
- 34:53Speaker 2: And I'm like, do I want to go to the
- 34:56Speaker 2: I went to Dano's pizza joint that he recommends that
- 34:58Speaker 2: it's not far from my place. It's not bad either,
- 35:01Speaker 2: Razaria Romania Romania. Yes, indeed, like I'm not the move
- 35:06Speaker 2: for beizs and like, oh forget, I'll just get mackets.
- 35:08Speaker 2: I'd a had Macas in a while, and I'm like,
- 35:09Speaker 2: I'm trying to steer away from that. But they had
- 35:11Speaker 2: the new burger, the Big Arch. I believe it was
- 35:14Speaker 2: called I'm like, this is a big Mac. I saw
- 35:16Speaker 2: picture of them. It was like a big Mac with
- 35:18Speaker 2: different sources or something like that. A big Mac. It's
- 35:20Speaker 2: a big Mac with a clock in it, essentially. But
- 35:22Speaker 2: I thought, oh, I'll give this a will. Yeah, it
- 35:24Speaker 2: was so disappointing.
- 35:26Speaker 1: It was very disapoint I hate it when you're excited
- 35:28Speaker 1: for something new and it's bad.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Macas is letting the side down recently. So
- 35:32Speaker 2: and yeah, I was not exactly paying fast food prices
- 35:34Speaker 2: for you know, if I'm walking over this amount of money,
- 35:37Speaker 2: I'd like a pretty good burger. This was not a
- 35:39Speaker 2: bit of a shame. But anyway, what was your rule
- 35:41Speaker 2: that you're broth though you going to macts, you go
- 35:44Speaker 2: to make it a little time now. No, No, I
- 35:45Speaker 2: haven't been for a while, A good long while.
- 35:47Speaker 1: A few weeks ago you're like, oh, I've got machas
- 35:49Speaker 1: because you just want to macs.
- 35:50Speaker 2: I think that was a couple of months ago. It
- 35:53Speaker 2: just blows into one week, it sure, But anyway, the
- 35:57Speaker 2: point is McDonald's like Krusty Berger. These days, it pretty
- 36:00Speaker 2: much is. Yeah.
- 36:01Speaker 1: I can't remember the last time I had McDonald's and
- 36:03Speaker 1: actually enjoyed it.
- 36:04Speaker 2: I just it's just a watt of money to me.
- 36:06Speaker 2: That's the thing. I did not enjoy. This didn't even
- 36:09Speaker 2: hit me in the reptile brain where it's like, yeah,
- 36:13Speaker 2: this is the stuff I used to enjoy when I
- 36:14Speaker 2: was a child who had no taste. It's like this
- 36:16Speaker 2: is just this cardboard. Yeah, it literally just tastes like cardboard. Yeah, yep. Good. Anyway, anyway,
- 36:22Speaker 2: we've lost that sponsor. HEYKFC, though I don't care, come through.
- 36:28Speaker 2: I love it, well, you love it. I don't changed
- 36:31Speaker 2: the slogan. Who ever decided that absolute idiot? Well, but
- 36:35Speaker 2: now it's sure to get inspired.
- 36:37Speaker 1: How about that dead Air debt and I'm like no no.
- 36:39Speaker 2: From Australian hip hop out Generous Genesis, Oh us, I
- 36:42Speaker 2: don't care. It's a local act. I don't don't care.
- 36:44Speaker 2: You don't love it.
- 36:45Speaker 1: I know I do not love it. I don't care.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I love it was the greatest campaign they've ever done,
- 36:50Speaker 1: better than Finger Looking Good, and they blew it away.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Maybe they had to, maybe they had to pay Hi.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I don't think. I don't think it's better than finger
- 36:56Speaker 2: Looking Good. That has just entered the vernacular.
- 36:58Speaker 1: See finger Looking Good is a slogan. This was an ad,
- 37:02Speaker 1: so they're kind of too.
- 37:03Speaker 2: It was a jingle, but it's not not necessarily jingle
- 37:05Speaker 2: because it was pre it was I'm gonna throw it out.
- 37:08Speaker 1: It is the best use of a commercial song in
- 37:10Speaker 1: an ad sense, wouldn't it be nice?
- 37:12Speaker 2: I don't disagree with you. You say that.
- 37:14Speaker 1: That song comes on and people go, it's the KFC song,
- 37:17Speaker 1: Like it's now known as the KFC song.
- 37:19Speaker 2: It's a it was you live and breathe KFC, though I.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Don't live and breathe it you do. But if I'm
- 37:24Speaker 1: going to get takeaway, it's going to be KFC because
- 37:26Speaker 1: you know why, I've got it in my notes. They
- 37:28Speaker 1: don't shy away from the fact that they're giant food.
- 37:30Speaker 1: They don't have a healthy optunity. They have twisters, which
- 37:32Speaker 1: is at a rap, but they don't.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Go out and say have a healthy opertence, like do
- 37:35Speaker 2: you want your ship in a burger or do you
- 37:36Speaker 2: want it in a wrap? It's like it's still junk food.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Mac is trying and go this is for you. Would
- 37:41Speaker 2: you like that?
- 37:41Speaker 1: Would you like your childhood have apple slices and water
- 37:43Speaker 1: with a happy meal?
- 37:44Speaker 2: Well? Do I want to be fucking happy? How about
- 37:47Speaker 2: how about I just go to where if they walk
- 37:51Speaker 2: in the door, there's a whole basket of apple free
- 37:54Speaker 2: lu Lulu, he's gone some apple. I'm not paying eight
- 37:58Speaker 2: dollars for apple slide a bag of apple slide. This
- 38:00Speaker 2: is fuck off.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Go away with your healthy options. I get that it's
- 38:03Speaker 1: all perception, but I think people by this point and
- 38:05Speaker 1: are going I know what I'm getting. If I'm going
- 38:09Speaker 1: to take away restaurant, just give me takeaway. Don't try
- 38:13Speaker 1: and pretend you're healthy. I know there's some people say,
- 38:15Speaker 1: but the parents, what about the parents they're buying? Well,
- 38:18Speaker 1: you're buy your kids jung food, you should probably just
- 38:19Speaker 1: fucking eat it as well. Well, yeah, if you're gonna
- 38:21Speaker 1: shove that certain example, if you're gonna shovel that ship
- 38:23Speaker 1: into your kids mouths? Why did you put it in
- 38:25Speaker 1: your own mouth? Lead by shit fucked mate mate. But
- 38:31Speaker 1: so it's the unhealthiest burger by trans fats YadA went
- 38:34Speaker 1: at home and the FAUNI mere watching the drowning catch.
- 38:38Speaker 1: It was worth it to be on TV. Make sure
- 38:39Speaker 1: you put out dying screams in the promo. And this
- 38:42Speaker 1: is where Homer says one of those stupid lines. He goes, yes,
- 38:44Speaker 1: the real drowningest catches man, what on earth was that?
- 38:49Speaker 2: Yeah? Indeed, I must say something here. Indeed, I mean
- 38:53Speaker 2: there's that old saying. You know, it's like the the
- 38:55Speaker 2: most dangerous game is man, all that kind of thing,
- 38:57Speaker 2: or you know, the real monster is us? All that shit.
- 39:00Speaker 2: So maybe he's just like, oh, he's trying to sound profound.
- 39:04Speaker 1: But he could have just said something like drama queen,
- 39:06Speaker 1: just something like that.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, Look that's better.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Mindsaying there would be me trying to be insightful never
- 39:15Speaker 1: works on this. What he says is actually stupid.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and he's and also he's putting on his
- 39:19Speaker 2: kind of voices. Yes.
- 39:22Speaker 1: So then they see the commercial for the Mother Nature
- 39:24Speaker 1: burger and people care about health they for some reason. Yep,
- 39:27Speaker 1: that's it has made one hundred percent from wheat fed balley.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Tastes like a healthier future. Ama says, we're going to
- 39:34Speaker 1: Krusty Burger.
- 39:34Speaker 2: I do like the way that ad was constructed. By
- 39:36Speaker 2: the way, with you, you've got the obvious stunt double
- 39:38Speaker 2: actually taking a bite out of the burger, when you've
- 39:40Speaker 2: got Krusty holding the burger that's had a bite dagging
- 39:42Speaker 2: out of it, cut with a knife, clearly, so loved
- 39:45Speaker 2: all that. Yes, little little little detail, little details like that. Okay,
- 39:49Speaker 2: I'll take back some of the shit I talk fred
- 39:51Speaker 2: about our man Brendan Hay.
- 39:53Speaker 1: This next one here, this next bit was really it
- 39:57Speaker 1: was ridiculous. So a Poo's there and he's thankful it's
- 39:59Speaker 1: finally a burger for.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Hindi, Hindi Indi. Yeah.
- 40:04Speaker 1: Now no one can tell that he's whether he's American
- 40:06Speaker 1: or not, or tell that he's not an American. And
- 40:07Speaker 1: he does a Bollywood style dance for some reason outside
- 40:09Speaker 1: the restaurant.
- 40:10Speaker 2: And what was the point of this. Yeah, with the
- 40:15Speaker 2: insightful cultural criticism you've come to except from guy Davis, hmmm,
- 40:19Speaker 2: not too sure about the poo dance.
- 40:21Speaker 1: I thought he was vegan, not vegetarian. Isn't he vegan?
- 40:26Speaker 2: I don't think he's ever copted being vegan because I
- 40:28Speaker 2: never anything that's come from an animal, and at least
- 40:31Speaker 2: like you just think I'm a monster. Oh of course
- 40:33Speaker 2: hear that, isn't he vegan? I always thought vegetarian, but
- 40:37Speaker 2: I could be wrong because vegetarian doesn't eat meat. It's
- 40:40Speaker 2: nothing that comes from an animal. That's eggs, no cheese,
- 40:42Speaker 2: none of that. Yeah yeah, none of the good stuff.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Yeahs. Anyway, anyway, stupid scene, Yeah yeah. Then it has
- 40:48Speaker 1: Homer taking a big buy it, saying he's saving the earth.
- 40:51Speaker 1: He wears my noble price, which is stupid, but it.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Is funny though.
- 40:54Speaker 1: When the plant hungery Jack's do him like plant based Berger.
- 40:58Speaker 1: I think Maci's dom as well. Now people think that
- 41:01Speaker 1: they're healthier because they're based, they're not.
- 41:03Speaker 2: No, no, no, she has probably been deep fried. God
- 41:06Speaker 2: knows how many saturated fats or whatever it's got in it.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not good at all. Because my dad had one.
- 41:12Speaker 1: He's like, yeah, meet a couple of these ones because
- 41:14Speaker 1: they're better for it. And I'm like, Dad, no, there's
- 41:16Speaker 1: actually more more fat in isn't a whopper, it's actually
- 41:19Speaker 1: bad for you. So now we're at home home. He's
- 41:21Speaker 1: got the stomach ache. He asked himself, why did you
- 41:23Speaker 1: eat twelve? He goes to use all the different various
- 41:26Speaker 1: bathrooms and toilets, but they're all being used to everybody
- 41:27Speaker 1: else because everyone else tried them as well. Because we
- 41:29Speaker 1: should have explained a trusty burger. It's businesses booming. Everyone's
- 41:32Speaker 1: excited to try this new burger, all right, which is
- 41:35Speaker 1: it's usually the case when a new thing comes to
- 41:37Speaker 1: talk about the Golden Narch Burger like it's something new.
- 41:39Speaker 1: It's got a new hat, so I have to try
- 41:40Speaker 1: it out. But then he throws up into Lisa's sacks,
- 41:42Speaker 1: gets his face stuck on the outside, and that's the
- 41:44Speaker 1: end of that chapter. Were now at the school and
- 41:47Speaker 1: Skinner and Charmers are also un while they do an
- 41:50Speaker 1: announcement saying that the Presidential ab Crunch Challenge and the
- 41:52Speaker 1: Sloppy Joeathon are canceled.
- 41:55Speaker 2: At the Sloppy Joathon, I'll I'll be all up in
- 41:57Speaker 2: that business.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Oh Sloppy Joseph is so good, And I didn't know
- 42:00Speaker 1: what a sloppy Joe was until I watch Billy Madison.
- 42:03Speaker 1: My mum used to cook spaghetti all the time. But
- 42:05Speaker 1: then when I watched Billy Madison, I was like, oh,
- 42:07Speaker 1: you can put that shit on a bred roll, snappy
- 42:08Speaker 1: do oh oh shit, let's.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Just change the game.
- 42:13Speaker 1: And then this is where Charmers says to Skinner if
- 42:15Speaker 1: I die, I want you in charge of rehiring the
- 42:18Speaker 1: rehiring committee for my position. He just hold my head
- 42:21Speaker 1: and say soothing things, and he does by saying third
- 42:23Speaker 1: grade math scores are holding steady. This show is brought

- 42:52Speaker 1: be a good Simpsons new report. We had a good.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Tagline, Oh remind me sorry, its fewed army, and he
- 42:59Speaker 2: blames America's barley basket Ogdenville, which settled one hundred years
- 43:02Speaker 2: ago by Norwegian immigrants, and he speaks to one of
- 43:06Speaker 2: the people who own I guess at the own the mill,
- 43:09Speaker 2: the barley mill, brend Left Jensen. Indeed, this is probably
- 43:13Speaker 2: an opportune time to mention that the first broadcast of
- 43:17Speaker 2: this particular episode coincided with Norwegian Constitution Day, basically their
- 43:22Speaker 2: showy Day, their fourth of July. Pretty much. Yeah, the
- 43:24Speaker 2: Norwegian Constitution was signed in eighteen fourteen. It made Norway
- 43:27Speaker 2: independent and it is celebrated by parades and people eating
- 43:32Speaker 2: hot dogs, waffles and ice cream. Norway sounds fucking dope,
- 43:35Speaker 2: it does, doesn't Yeah, waffles, ice cream and what hot dogs? Yeah,
- 43:41Speaker 2: hot dogs, waffles and ice cream. That's just delightful.
- 43:45Speaker 1: And they had parades. I would, but don't do parades anymore.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Oh no, it's just too much hassel n can't catshup
- 43:53Speaker 1: down the streets? Nah, fuck the kids, fuck Garla parade.
- 43:56Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I was over the over at Lose the
- 44:00Speaker 2: the night looking for something to watch and we were
- 44:02Speaker 2: sort of like, put a couple of movies on the
- 44:04Speaker 2: memory stick. Let's have a look at the trailers. There's
- 44:06Speaker 2: other thing came up on the homepage, on the YouTube homepage,
- 44:08Speaker 2: it was like you may have seen this. It's a
- 44:12Speaker 2: city on the grow. That's basically it. Yeah, from nineteen sixties,
- 44:16Speaker 2: from nineteen sixty six, I've seen this as well. Yeah,
- 44:19Speaker 2: which Lou and I it literally was a city on
- 44:21Speaker 2: the grow. Oh yeah. But Lou and I like we're
- 44:25Speaker 2: ten years from here where those kids at the end
- 44:27Speaker 2: of the school yard. So I was like, oh my god,
- 44:29Speaker 2: this is But it really was Geelong city on the grow.
- 44:32Speaker 2: It didn't have narration or anything like that.
- 44:34Speaker 1: But it's just people working in factories and kids out
- 44:36Speaker 1: the front smiling and playing hopscoatch.
- 44:39Speaker 2: I mean, look, nostalgia is the most you know, toxic
- 44:44Speaker 2: of bruise. But at the same time, how we make
- 44:46Speaker 2: our money, we got to go back incorporate some of it.
- 44:50Speaker 2: Well yeah, oh god, we don't regress. But oh yeah,
- 44:54Speaker 2: I mean we're saying, oh yeah, look, this wife is
- 44:55Speaker 2: probably getting beaten or something like that. All these kids
- 44:58Speaker 2: are probably getting you know, smacked the most inconsequential of
- 45:01Speaker 2: reasons or anything like that.
- 45:02Speaker 1: While just talking to because patients, Saint Darren and Doug,
- 45:05Speaker 1: they've gone to America. They've left today to fight America
- 45:08Speaker 1: for the first time in twenty five years. So hope
- 45:09Speaker 1: you're having a good time over there you listening to
- 45:11Speaker 1: I hope your social media feeds are squeaky clean. Yes, exactly,
- 45:14Speaker 1: did tell me about that. But we're talking about theme parks,
- 45:16Speaker 1: and he was saying, because he's a big theme park guy,
- 45:18Speaker 1: how it's almost like theme parks are starting to realize, Oh,
- 45:22Speaker 1: people just want rides. I don't want to have to
- 45:23Speaker 1: wear glasses anymore, because there's a whole era of like
- 45:27Speaker 1: ten us ten to fifteen years, you mean like virtual Yeah,
- 45:30Speaker 1: rather than build roller coasters, it's hey, sit in front
- 45:32Speaker 1: of the screen and put glasses on and you'll have
- 45:35Speaker 1: a great time. That suck, And it's like, I understand
- 45:37Speaker 1: it's cheaper and it's less maintenance, but you know what,
- 45:40Speaker 1: people want fun And it's mentioned a bit of nostalgia.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Universal Studios they got rid of the Back to the Future, right,
- 45:45Speaker 1: which granded was a virtual reality one, but they got
- 45:46Speaker 1: rid of the Jaws ride and all these other rides,
- 45:49Speaker 1: and now they're selling this stuff saying, remember Jaws the anniversary,
- 45:53Speaker 1: Remember we had a ride, and everyone's like yeah, you
- 45:54Speaker 1: fucking got rid of it.
- 45:55Speaker 2: Yes, indeed we are for the time being at least
- 45:59Speaker 2: still being is made of flesh and blood. You know,
- 46:02Speaker 2: we exist in the physical, tangible world. We want to
- 46:05Speaker 2: actually move fast, go up and down. That'd be fantastic.
- 46:10Speaker 2: So build it out of the fucking roller coaster. Put
- 46:13Speaker 2: me in a room on a couch the rocks while
- 46:18Speaker 2: I'm wearing three D glasses. Fuck you. I want to
- 46:21Speaker 2: be taken on an adventure. Correct.
- 46:23Speaker 1: And they try to get it to the ET ride
- 46:24Speaker 1: and apparently there's not picket line fans and they're like, oh,
- 46:27Speaker 1: you want to keep this.
- 46:27Speaker 2: No one's like, yes, yes, we do. It's a fucking
- 46:30Speaker 2: good ride. It's not a roller coaster, you know, it's
- 46:32Speaker 2: a family friendly ride. It's fucking et Just leave it alone.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Stop trying to fix things like you can incorporate new rides,
- 46:39Speaker 2: but don't try. And just fucking enough with the virtual
- 46:42Speaker 2: reality rides. How do we get to talk about the
- 46:44Speaker 2: nostalgia because of the house. We got rid of the Jaws, right,
- 46:47Speaker 2: we got And now this is the thing. They've just
- 46:49Speaker 2: launched the Universal Movie Parade and guess what's in the parade?
- 46:53Speaker 2: Et Jaws back to the future all the shit you
- 46:56Speaker 2: got rid of. You know, don't don't overdose, don't get
- 47:02Speaker 2: high on your own supply. But you know things were
- 47:04Speaker 2: better back then. They were.
- 47:07Speaker 3: The food poisoning has been traced to a single ingredient,
- 47:10Speaker 3: tainted barley. And where does that barley come from? Our
- 47:13Speaker 3: neighbor to the southeast, Ogdenville, the state's barley basket since
- 47:17Speaker 3: it was settled one hundred years ago by Norwegian immigrants.
- 47:20Speaker 3: I'm here with barley farmer brendlf Jensen, Brendliff.
- 47:23Speaker 2: What happened is a big old rat got caught up
- 47:26Speaker 2: in the grinders there.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Saw my wife Dagne took a hose to it, and
- 47:30Speaker 3: it's all cleaned out now. So you're guaranteeing it's safe
- 47:33Speaker 3: to eat Ogdenville barley once more. Well, where there's barley,
- 47:37Speaker 3: there's rat. You know, Now, when will you be starting
- 47:40Speaker 3: the interview that just went out live?
- 47:44Speaker 2: Well, then we're screwed.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Cuts of the meal all closed down the next day,
- 47:49Speaker 1: museums all shut down, everything shut down. I wanted to
- 47:51Speaker 1: acknowledge the use of color so far in this episode,
- 47:54Speaker 1: So where now unweldy or pale yellow? It's very Monotone
- 47:58Speaker 1: is a color CPS. Yeah, it's very early Wizard of Oz,
- 48:02Speaker 1: that kind of tone. And everything's closed down except for
- 48:04Speaker 1: the close sign store, which I thought you liked it
- 48:07Speaker 1: very fun gag. The families are all moving out like
- 48:09Speaker 1: the Beverly Hill Billies with Granny on top and also
- 48:12Speaker 1: a bit grapes of wrath.
- 48:13Speaker 2: You yeah, yeah, we're yeah, the great John Steinbeck book
- 48:18Speaker 2: about the Great Depression and the Dustball and all that
- 48:20Speaker 2: kind of stuff.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Ye, and it's all deserted now. Then they enter Springfield,
- 48:23Speaker 1: where there's a two drink minimum and Homers in the
- 48:26Speaker 1: car park or Builders Barn aka Bunnings aka Hammer Barn
- 48:29Speaker 1: for all those Blue fans out there. I experienced by
- 48:32Speaker 1: the way. I've never felt stupider.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Actually I do.
- 48:36Speaker 1: I feel stupid a quite often, but I felt so embarrassed.
- 48:40Speaker 1: You've seen jingle all the way correct. I have nd
- 48:42Speaker 1: Swarzegg running around trying to find it.
- 48:43Speaker 2: Turbo man, that is the plot.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Bunnings have just announced, well they've had him for a while,
- 48:48Speaker 1: but they've re released them. Bluey gnomes Okay, bluey gnomes
- 48:52Speaker 1: are a thing in Bluey. They're iconic for Blue fans
- 48:54Speaker 1: and they've released actual genuine garden names that look the same,
- 48:57Speaker 1: so of course we get the Bunnings and Alliotts. He's
- 49:00Speaker 1: his blue carriage is gonna find around the store. And
- 49:01Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I'll get you one of those gnomes,
- 49:04Speaker 1: so I'll walk up to let Vergi. I can't find them.
- 49:06Speaker 1: I said, where are the gnomes the blue names located?
- 49:09Speaker 1: The two girls started laughing at me, genuinely just laughing
- 49:11Speaker 1: at me, and I was like, what they said that
- 49:13Speaker 1: the first ten minutes and then get and put on
- 49:14Speaker 1: the shlve. You actually thought we're gonna gonna get one.
- 49:16Speaker 2: I was like yeah.
- 49:18Speaker 1: She's like yeah, unless you line up like five am,
- 49:20Speaker 1: he ain't getting a bluey. They sell like twentyred bucks
- 49:21Speaker 1: on eBay.
- 49:22Speaker 2: I'm like a blue Garden gnome, so I'm Swartznegger and
- 49:26Speaker 2: jingle all the way, Toby Man. They just they looked
- 49:28Speaker 2: at each other and just laugh and I was like, oh, oh,
- 49:32Speaker 2: I'm that guy. The thing of it is then Dano
- 49:34Speaker 2: actually called me to commiserate. I was not impressed. Yeah,
- 49:36Speaker 2: And I said, well, here's the thing, Dando, your wife's
- 49:39Speaker 2: cookies out of this world. You brought it back to
- 49:45Speaker 2: the Simpsons. Yeah as we as we like to say
- 49:49Speaker 2: on this show, Rip Vilarten.
- 49:51Speaker 1: We miss you greatly. Yes, anyway, so no builders. Barn
- 49:54Speaker 1: Barck questions, Homer, are you sure you're gonna be able
- 49:56Speaker 1: to install these roof gutters? I wouldn't know where to begin,
- 49:58Speaker 1: And he says since he has a bad history of
- 50:00Speaker 1: going on roofs and waking up in hospitals. He gets
- 50:02Speaker 1: the olden Villians who offer to help him. He says,
- 50:04Speaker 1: your facial hair scream is rugged but reliab or so
- 50:07Speaker 1: like my own. Yeah, so he hires them. They call
- 50:09Speaker 1: him sir, so that means he knows that I'm better
- 50:10Speaker 1: than him, which is an ignorant line, but you know,
- 50:14Speaker 1: poking fun at people who actually think that way.
- 50:16Speaker 2: Yes, I was wondering would I have enjoyed this more
- 50:20Speaker 2: if it was in like a quote unquote classic Simpsons,
- 50:23Speaker 2: Probably yeah, or the case have I just spent too
- 50:26Speaker 2: much time with jackass Homer. It's like I had it
- 50:30Speaker 2: when he says things like that when in the olden days,
- 50:33Speaker 2: I would have like, oh, yeah, that's the kind of
- 50:34Speaker 2: ignorant thing that he would say.
- 50:35Speaker 1: But see in the Golden near Home he called me
- 50:38Speaker 1: so yeah, he's He's like, I can't believe it. He
- 50:41Speaker 1: actually think he deserves to me called sir, just likes
- 50:43Speaker 1: the idea of being called sir. But then he offers
- 50:46Speaker 1: them a lemon version of Balley aid. They all enjoy it.
- 50:49Speaker 1: When in Springfield and Hammer says he's glad they've all
- 50:51Speaker 1: come to take all the jobs that they don't want
- 50:53Speaker 1: to do, which, as I said, that's the line that
- 50:54Speaker 1: sums up this episode.
- 50:55Speaker 2: Indeed. Yeah, there's a lot of shout outs to the
- 50:57Speaker 2: film Witness in here by the way, Yeah, when you
- 51:00Speaker 2: go do you know this one with? Have you seen this?
- 51:02Speaker 2: Would I like it? You would? Indeed? Yet you know
- 51:04Speaker 2: what kind of movie I like? Oh right, this is
- 51:05Speaker 2: a good This is a really good movie, Witness.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I'm going to look it up. Why you tell me
- 51:09Speaker 1: a little bit about it without spoiling the film of course.
- 51:10Speaker 2: Okay, starring Harrison Ford, directed by austrais On, Peter Wiir
- 51:13Speaker 2: mayber Well, Yeah, yeah, Harrison Ford is a cop. He
- 51:18Speaker 2: is protecting a young Armish boy who witnesses a murder
- 51:21Speaker 2: during his visit to the big city. Harrison Ford goes
- 51:24Speaker 2: back to the Amish community in rural Pennsylvania, he's pursued
- 51:28Speaker 2: by the corrupt cops. He also finds love with the
- 51:30Speaker 2: child's mother, played by young Kelly McGillis. Because you teach
- 51:32Speaker 2: their jibs, well, I know, but he does their gibs.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Because Harrison Ford, before he became an actor, was a
- 51:39Speaker 2: carpenter and also apparently a weed dealer.
- 51:41Speaker 1: So it was Tim Allan apparently, well he was a
- 51:43Speaker 1: coat deal coat dealer, yes, next level. Yeah, he's like, hey, Harrison,
- 51:50Speaker 1: friend of Barrison, you can get better than the.
- 51:56Speaker 2: Witness. Fantastic movie, but there's a lot of barn raising
- 51:59Speaker 2: and a lot of sort of.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Tis no Pool but yeah, Witness, Okay, I will check
- 52:04Speaker 1: that out. So this is the kind of things again
- 52:07Speaker 1: we've mentioned how no one unless've seen the film will
- 52:10Speaker 1: probably have any idea that's a reference of something. Yeah,
- 52:12Speaker 1: but if you're a fan of Witness, that's that.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Yeah, they're not being really overt with it, but okay,
- 52:17Speaker 2: it's if you know, you know, if you know you know,
- 52:19Speaker 2: all right then yeah.
- 52:20Speaker 1: So, as I said, they're at Homa's house. Now they've
- 52:21Speaker 1: tried the lemonade. They're really enjoying. Homer says, you know,
- 52:24Speaker 1: you never have too much of a good thing. You know,
- 52:25Speaker 1: you're taking you're doing all the jobs that we don't
- 52:26Speaker 1: want to do. Pan up to everyone entering from Ogdenville
- 52:30Speaker 1: over the border.
- 52:31Speaker 2: And you too, and even the sign of Ogdenville or yeah,
- 52:34Speaker 2: the words on the map.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Yeah, the map looks like it's a what would you
- 52:37Speaker 1: call it a crop not a crop circle, but it
- 52:38Speaker 1: looks like it's just been put out of stones or whatever.
- 52:40Speaker 1: It's actually people and they've all crossed the border. So
- 52:43Speaker 1: the Springfield is full of ogden Villions and they're all
- 52:45Speaker 1: fixing Springfield, fixing Kirk glasses, walking old people like their dogs,
- 52:50Speaker 1: giving the bush a haircut, things like that. And there's
- 52:52Speaker 1: where Inger, Inger, Inger, whatever you want to say.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Inger.
- 52:56Speaker 1: She is getting a tour of the Simpsons kitchen. March says,
- 52:58Speaker 1: you know, did you have kitchens back in olle Yes,
- 53:00Speaker 1: before the dark days when we lost everything? And Marge says, well,
- 53:03Speaker 1: that's good. Lest you know you are around a blender.
- 53:05Speaker 1: So he even Marge doesn't really sympathize with she's really
- 53:10Speaker 1: hardship that they've gone through. So it's just acknowledging that, oh,
- 53:13Speaker 1: you want them around to help do your ship, but
- 53:14Speaker 1: you don't want actually knowledge that the human beings the
- 53:16Speaker 1: human beings and have come from a shitty situation. Oh yes,
- 53:20Speaker 1: Margin shows ye, shows her around the kitchen. Then she
- 53:22Speaker 1: gives it a rundown. She says, Grandpa is inside, the
- 53:25Speaker 1: dog has to be out. The dogs inside, Grandpa has
- 53:27Speaker 1: to be out. For whatever reason. Flanders, our neighbor drops
- 53:29Speaker 1: by unexpectedly sometimes Hello doesn't stay for very long. Then
- 53:34Speaker 1: she explains to Bart and Lisa and Maggie that she
- 53:37Speaker 1: will be the new nanny, and Bart straight away says
- 53:41Speaker 1: Mom says, I can ask him for breakfast and then
- 53:43Speaker 1: and then it pans out and he goes, oh, wait,
- 53:44Speaker 1: she's still here, And I'm like, that's because she just
- 53:46Speaker 1: introduced you to her. The gag works from a visual
- 53:49Speaker 1: perspective because you can't see Marge and it pans, oh,
- 53:51Speaker 1: you're still here. It's like, but Marge just said, here's
- 53:53Speaker 1: your new nanny, like she hasn't gone anywhere. The gag
- 53:56Speaker 1: doesn't really work that level. Again, Devil's advocate if I'm
- 53:59Speaker 1: going to do that, but is so we're not taken
- 54:03Speaker 1: with the idea of like, here's someone I can pull
- 54:05Speaker 1: a swifty on, Oh I can get ice cream for
- 54:07Speaker 1: breakfast and he just is ADHD. Brain sort of instantly
- 54:09Speaker 1: switches to that through It's like, oh, mom, silly, It's
- 54:12Speaker 1: like I'm giving him escape patch, I'm giving you an out.
- 54:15Speaker 2: Okay.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Lisa says she'll eat anything that she puts in front
- 54:18Speaker 1: of her or before that, though, March is no because
- 54:21Speaker 1: he asked marched and you can't have any was an
- 54:23Speaker 1: ice cream for breakfast, but you can't have chop chip
- 54:24Speaker 1: pancakes and syrup. This is totally something that happens in
- 54:27Speaker 1: his household. Saturday morning. Holy now, Nicholas still be in bed.
- 54:31Speaker 1: I'll be up with the kids and I'll go, can
- 54:32Speaker 1: I have a lolly? And I'm like, whatever, just fucking
- 54:34Speaker 1: a lolli, Nicolas. And then they'll tell Nicol later She's like,
- 54:36Speaker 1: why is only knock nine thirty? And I was like,
- 54:38Speaker 1: but it's okay for them have fruit lips?
- 54:40Speaker 2: Yeah? Have you seen when these kids have for breakfast?
- 54:42Speaker 2: Go get Bob some fruit lits? Okay, lollies. No.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Lisa then says, as I said, She'll eat whatever. And
- 54:48Speaker 1: Maggie now has nanny like the ones that Joe Piscopo
- 54:51Speaker 1: and Eat the Hawk.
- 54:51Speaker 2: Left their wives for did eat the hawk leave him
- 54:54Speaker 2: here for nanny, He didy Man, having said that he
- 55:00Speaker 2: and his new wife have been together for many, many years.
- 55:02Speaker 2: Oh so he's still with the nanny. Yeah, well, I
- 55:04Speaker 2: guess if you're fine, love you fine, love, don't you
- 55:07Speaker 2: can't be with the one you love, honey, love the
- 55:08Speaker 2: one you're with.
- 55:09Speaker 1: So then Nanny she says, keep keep your hands, sorry
- 55:11Speaker 1: off my homie, and she takes that down.
- 55:14Speaker 2: Told me.
- 55:14Speaker 1: Then Maggie is quite nervous about new people, but turns
- 55:17Speaker 1: out she's not nervous, she's just a bit gassy, and
- 55:19Speaker 1: Inger gives her the Ingleberry oil under her tongue, which
- 55:21Speaker 1: fixes it all straight away, and Marge feels bad for
- 55:24Speaker 1: calling her references. Then Luigi's it's a double date, Marge,
- 55:27Speaker 1: Homer Selma and Debourne thorn Borg the orn whatever. He's
- 55:32Speaker 1: a Norwegian olden Villian, she says, they now dating after
- 55:36Speaker 1: she hired him to kill the moles in her garden,
- 55:37Speaker 1: but she has the face of his great uncle Madris.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Or something on.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Yeah, Magnus, after half of the accident he had and
- 55:43Speaker 1: then talking about it, he said, talking about taking the
- 55:45Speaker 1: jobs at none of us want at Springfield Want, which
- 55:47Speaker 1: is a good gag, and then he says his flobber
- 55:49Speaker 1: could light the town for a year or something along
- 55:50Speaker 1: those lines.
- 55:51Speaker 2: Did I zing the earth? Good? Yes?
- 55:52Speaker 3: You did?
- 55:52Speaker 2: Great, she's in love with him. Did you call it flubber?
- 55:56Speaker 2: He said blubber? Oh though he said flubber. I said flobber.
- 55:58Speaker 2: Did he say blubber? Yeah?
- 55:59Speaker 1: I think, Oh, maybe the kids are just started watching flobber,
- 56:01Speaker 1: so flobbers just on the mind. We're now at the
- 56:06Speaker 1: at the park and all the kids from Old de
- 56:09Speaker 1: Villa wearing Minnesota Viking apparrol, which annoys Millhouse because this
- 56:12Speaker 1: is Tennessee Titans territory. This is totally meet the footy.
- 56:15Speaker 1: We Our seats are in a Gelong Cats fans section, right,
- 56:18Speaker 1: But there's the option if you can't make it to
- 56:19Speaker 1: the game, you can sell your tickets, your seats back
- 56:21Speaker 1: to the club and we'll give it to somebody else.
- 56:25Speaker 1: The people behind us scenes has never come to games,
- 56:28Speaker 1: so our seats always have opposition supporters.
- 56:31Speaker 2: Right behind us.
- 56:31Speaker 1: So Geelong fans everywhere, but right behind us opposition supporters.
- 56:35Speaker 2: I'm like, what is going on? Are they often vocal?
- 56:38Speaker 2: Very vocal?
- 56:39Speaker 1: I'm all for everyone every time has their supporters, but it's.
- 56:42Speaker 2: Just like it's behind me.
- 56:44Speaker 1: That's the lesson of this episode is the thing they're
- 56:47Speaker 1: always like smart us because it's always someone different, right Becau.
- 56:50Speaker 1: There's always a different team that you're playing. It's usually
- 56:52Speaker 1: young blokes with a few beers now and they is
- 56:57Speaker 1: lippy and it's just like just they're doing miss try
- 57:00Speaker 1: Science Yer to three thousand basically at the foot where
- 57:02Speaker 1: it's just running commentary and I'm like, shut the funk up,
- 57:05Speaker 1: like no one wants to hear what you think about everything.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Yeah, we got BT for this shit. Yeah.
- 57:09Speaker 1: It's like, I mean, I'm all about supporting and cheering
- 57:11Speaker 1: the game, but they're just like giving and they think
- 57:14Speaker 1: they're funny.
- 57:14Speaker 2: Well that's the problem. Here's the thing. Everybody thinks they've
- 57:17Speaker 2: got a podcast. They don't. It's only it's only Dandem guy.
- 57:20Speaker 2: We're the only ones who have a podcast.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Used to be when I said I do a podcast
- 57:23Speaker 1: for a living, people will say, what's a podcast? Now
- 57:25Speaker 1: I say I do a podcast for a living. They go, oh,
- 57:27Speaker 1: of course you do. Everyone does, and yeah, well you
- 57:30Speaker 1: know what you know ruin this celebrities? Oh yeah, oh
- 57:35Speaker 1: no one was doing podcasts. No one was doing podcasts.
- 57:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I completely blame Jason Bateman for this.
- 57:40Speaker 1: Yeah he's one of them, good guy probably, But but
- 57:44Speaker 1: then shows how the natives ride sky and he ends
- 57:47Speaker 1: up crashing into the school bus and goes down the
- 57:49Speaker 1: hill on the skateboard crashing into the school bus and
- 57:51Speaker 1: dislocates his arm or his elbow or something along those lines.
- 57:53Speaker 1: It's now going to be a three hour wait in
- 57:55Speaker 1: the emergency room because all the old.
- 57:57Speaker 2: And villions are there now.
- 57:58Speaker 1: They sneeze funny, and they're out of English form, so
- 58:01Speaker 1: she has to use a Norwegian form. Homer says he's
- 58:03Speaker 1: annoyed that the foreigners are clogging up his system or
- 58:06Speaker 1: cloging up the system. I hurt my back un cloging
- 58:08Speaker 1: your septic system. Yeah, well, can come back tomorrow. It's
- 58:10Speaker 1: still broken again. You can come back and fix it
- 58:11Speaker 1: again for you tomorrow. Margin says you would care for
- 58:14Speaker 1: him at home. So they're trying to say I think
- 58:16Speaker 1: this is their way of also saying it doesn't always
- 58:18Speaker 1: have its benefits. You know, hospitals are full, which means
- 58:21Speaker 1: parents are now having to take their kids home. I
- 58:22Speaker 1: get the treatment they need.
- 58:23Speaker 2: That kind of thing. It is the thing. You take
- 58:25Speaker 2: the good, you take the bad, you have to, Yeah,
- 58:27Speaker 2: you take them both and then you have the facts alive. Yes,
- 58:30Speaker 2: margin puts bart back in place. So just like yeah
- 58:33Speaker 2: he had the kind yeah shoulders. Yeah, did the whole
- 58:37Speaker 2: Martain Riggs from lethal weapon. Yes.
- 58:39Speaker 1: Indeed all the Wokes from the English cricket team who
- 58:42Speaker 1: went out with a disticcated shoulder.
- 58:43Speaker 2: You see that no.
- 58:45Speaker 1: England had the just precludes me watching. I had a
- 58:48Speaker 1: Test cricket, had a Test game against and he had
- 58:49Speaker 1: the game won. They needed to make like thirty two
- 58:52Speaker 1: runs or something. He had four wickets in hand and
- 58:54Speaker 1: stuffed it up. And the guy who was ninth the
- 58:56Speaker 1: one of the balls have disiccated shoulder. So you get
- 58:58Speaker 1: to run out and be the ninth batter with dissiccated shoulder.
- 59:01Speaker 1: And of course he went out. Man, Actually I don't
- 59:03Speaker 1: think he went out, but they fluffed it up and
- 59:06Speaker 1: they lost. Yeah, crick at a But then, as I
- 59:09Speaker 1: was saying, Homer is starting to think that maybe you
- 59:12Speaker 1: having these immigrants here was a bad idea. Maybe it's
- 59:14Speaker 1: better when they weren't around here. At least it points out, well,
- 59:16Speaker 1: we were once immigrants and you want a baby. Do
- 59:18Speaker 1: you still like milk and hugs? He's like, I actually do,
- 59:20Speaker 1: so he gives hers some milk, give it a hug,
- 59:22Speaker 1: and he's like, you know what, not bad. This was
- 59:24Speaker 1: actually one of my favorite moments that I didn't talk
- 59:26Speaker 1: about it earlier. Be goes, Yeah, I think it would
- 59:27Speaker 1: be nice to mention it here, because yeah, who doesn't
- 59:29Speaker 1: like milk and hugs?
- 59:30Speaker 2: Never too old for a cuddle.
- 59:32Speaker 1: We're a nice glass of milk. Yes, I've had a
- 59:34Speaker 1: glass of milk for a long time, milk with my cereal.
- 59:35Speaker 1: But I don't have a glass of milk. I don't
- 59:37Speaker 1: drink coffee your tea, so I don't really get milk.
- 59:39Speaker 2: All that often. I had to get milk for something
- 59:41Speaker 2: I might have been making, like mac and cheese. Do
- 59:43Speaker 2: you get like the full fat milk? We get skim milk. No,
- 59:46Speaker 2: I just got read because I don't really have that
- 59:48Speaker 2: much of that. So I have black coffee and I
- 59:50Speaker 2: don't have cereal or coffee, so I don't really have
- 59:53Speaker 2: milk in the house all that often. But I needed
- 59:55Speaker 2: for mac and cheese. I've got a little thing. There
- 59:56Speaker 2: was a little bit left in the container so I'm like,
- 59:58Speaker 2: you know what, I'm going to drink it straight like
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: a man. Delicious. It was really nice. Should have got
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: some quick, put some quick in there. Well, I used to.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: It was the after school treaked. Oh it was cocaine
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: for kids. Yeah, it's just like six heaped teat tablespoons
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: of that's insane, man, No, that's too much, too much. Yeah,
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: I had to be kated on the bottom and caked
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: on the top. It was just like just drinking quick.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, so good stone would the spoon would just
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: stand up straight in the and the glass. But now
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: this milk had been in the fridge for a while,
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: was ice cold, and I just had like a good
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: sized mouthful just to polish off the containers. Like, holy moly,
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: that was nice. You know he likes milk, Santa Claus.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: I got no response to that.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Was like live glass milk out for Santa. You always
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: have a glass book, couple of cookies, and some carrots
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: of the reindeer.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: That's yeah, that is true. I do remember that we
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: never never left the glass and milk out for the
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: for Santa Claus. No, just like the presents and go buddy,
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: you never left him anything. No, I'm sure I did.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: I did when I was, when I was, when I
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: was a very young don't do it now? How do
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: you expect presents?
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: How do you think those presents to your tree on
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Christmas morning? Count Basie, do I break it to him?
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: You live in beer? Oh two fingers a whiskey, but
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: on your chest?
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Yeah? Well, didn't you see the motion pitch of Red
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: One starring Dwayne Johnson and Preservans and as me and
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: my friend Charlie referred to him Jack Simmons because JK
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: Simmons was just jacked. Yeh, duk buck old man jacked?
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: Oh yeah, old man Jay. This is weird.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: There's no muscles here, but it's like it's still muscles somehow.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: There's veins there, wrinkley veins.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: Like looking at this help.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: But then we're at Moe's now and Carl's annoyed by
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: the Norwegians, and most as I don't mind them, because
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: you know, they pay cash, they keep their they keep clean,
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: and their mythology is richer than chanting. Do you think
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: they use the character of Mo, who's usually the most racist,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: to speaking of the person as a way to saying,
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: you guys are the problem. I'm actually fine, that's a
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: good point. Yeah, I think that's a that's a very
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: good way of putting it. There's one to cut straight
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: to most. I was like, yeah, guy's gonna be there.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Immigrants, emigrants. Lames was saying them immigrants.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: Well, he is actually an immigrant. As we assume mummy talks.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: He talks about how he doesn't serve beer anymore. He
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: serves aquavit.
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: This is supposed a lot of like real rocket fuel acvavit.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: Is it a real thing? Oh yeah, oh shit, I
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: didn't know that. I am going to give the google.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: It was a clear liqueur, yeah, also spelled akavit, is
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: a Scandinavian spirit primarily produced in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: It is a distilled spirit, typically made from grain or
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: potatoes and flavored with a variety of herbs and spices.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: Carraway and dill are the dominant flavorings both, but other
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: spices like pennel, cumin, and cardamom.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: Can also be used. Okay, then, yeah, I didn't realize
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: it's a real thing. It's a spicy liquor, spicy liquea
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: as he calls it. Yeah, it sounds liquors and the cures, yes,
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: but more more liquors than the liqueurs. I think sometimes
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: is on those lines. But anyway, this is where you're
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: annoyed by this, saying, what do you mean you turned
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: your back on this mood? Not serving beer anymore. It's
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: all about the other king Harolds now because they've changed
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: the currency essentially. Now in Springfield and Homer asked for
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: a glass of it and it gets him drunk really
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: really fast. Must be very alcoholic, right, I think it's
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: pretty high package. Yeah, but I see drinks a lot
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: of it. Oh sign of it?
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Basically what is the percentage? I think it happened like
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: in the shot it's a spirit.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: Yeah. So now he's hung over at work. This was
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: very quick. There's lots of quick cutaways in this one.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: So he's late. Well, fire again.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: You leaked and drunk, Shut up?
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: You last your job.
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: It's not my fault.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Those Egdenville guys plied me with their native liqueurs and liquors,
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: but mostly liqueurs. Oh poor, and you with your alcoholism. Yeah.

- 1:04:13Speaker 1: says at the front tonight it's our immigrant problem. Tomorrow
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: we turn on you, and the Blue Head Lawyer makes
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: an appearance here. Haven't seen him for a long time.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: I actually tell a lie. He appeared recently, right.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: Well, on an old episode that we watched.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Was another episode an not the one that I thought
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: it was one where he says something about Disney stealing.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: I don't know anyway.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: Blue Head Lawyer is there and he says that immigant
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: shouldn't be allowed in Springfield, and Homer supports his xylophobia,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: not xenophobia, at least it points out, and so it
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: should be xenophobia, he says, no xylophobe, because it's the
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: music here when skeletons are dancing.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: I didn't I didn't hate that, that's actually true. I
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: liked it.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: And then they end up banning immigrants and xylophones and
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: the border's clothes and miss lagasys you can't take my
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: xylophone and runs out like a little insident zone style
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: with the xylophone playing.
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: It's a funny visual gag. I've got a lot of
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: respect for someone who can really rock a xylophone or
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: a glockenspiel.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Or anyone who just playing musical instrument of any kind. Well, yes, true,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: but the ones that aren't you stocks down a drums, guitar,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: that kind of thing.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: There was a stage I may have been in the ad,
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: but you would hear like rock songs or pop songs
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: that actually had the xylophone or the glock and spiel
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: in there. I'm like, it's pretty rare. I kind of
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: like that. I can I still say to this day.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: One of the things that really got me attracted to Nicola,
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: right obviously, you know, I went on a date with
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: a blah blah blah. She was staying at a friends
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: place and went and visited her at a friend's place.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: I had this piano there, and Nichola starts playing the
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: piano and I was like that was so awesome. Oh yeah,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: like I would I've always wanted to be able to
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: play the piano. Nicholas just like, yeah, I can play it,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: starts playing that daylight no do do do do do
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: do it?
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: And I was like, I love you. You're awesome, and
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: then she fucking just buzzed out Baker Street on the saxophone.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: I was like this woman, Oh yeah, now I have
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: the most respectful for musicians. Yeah, Nicola is awesome at saxophone.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: She was in a genuine band.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: I'll bet you yeah.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: Well, police officer, jazz musician, accountant, don't at all, mother, wife, wife,
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: the dando her greatest achievement. But yeah, So the town
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: meeting has happened and they have agreed to ben or
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: close the border, not allow any more immigrants in Sore
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: now at the border and the Norwegians are getting in
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: still that they're running across the border. They're getting between
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: Wigham's legs. It's like this guy's ridding a bike. What
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: am I superman? And then they realize they're going to
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: need extra help because Springfield only has three cops. That's
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: a funny joke. If it wasn't just the last week
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: we had the four Great Women and a manicure. The
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: one before that was Waverley Hills No. Two one dough
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: where they acknowledged that there's more cops in spring because
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: time it gets.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: Arrested at the start.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: That's right, you've just made the joke there's more cops
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: in Springfield, and there was any make it three.
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: Later on you get more cops at the end of
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: this episode as well. So then against the whole thing
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: production meetings. Indeed, Plus, did we really need to cut
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: away to Eddie with gout? I don't think we did.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: What we all are funny, No, where's Eddie? So if
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: you're gonna have a cutaway cut away to something funny,
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: why does he walk out? Or if he's you know,
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: if he really does have gout, which you normally get
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: from indulgent in wine and rich food and all that
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: kind of stuff, have him in bed with you know, Ah,
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: it splits up. Ah, I've got gat But also he's
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: drinking a glass of wine at the same time because
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: you just can't help himself. Or he's eating and like
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: eating a fucking thing a patterns.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Or his ancestors in Norwegian and he's actually been kicked out.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: Good point. See we're fixing it.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: Guy rocks up on a horse that's asked off to
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: pay to get in with. I was like, no, no,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: it's free, going for free, it's free. And then he
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: suggest vigilantes who will work for free because of the
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: adrenaline Russia of having tiny, tiny bit of authority over
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: your fellow man. And it cuts to everyone standing there
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: with guns and your typical he would expect to be
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: in a vigilante group in Springfield or all there. You've
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: got your kleatuses and Lenny Carl's and your barnies and whatnot.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Mole Man's are as well, I believe, and home and
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: then puts the gun in his.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: Mouth as well. Almost made a big mistake, And I
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: was like, sure, yeah, that just wasn't funny. That's not funny.
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: That's not funny.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: No word in the Simpsons movie when Wigan was eating
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: doughnuts of his gun and it goes bang and it
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: shoots his hat and he goes, wow, wow, cloth, that
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: was different. This is Homer just putting a gun in
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: his mouth.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: Well, that's it. It needed a little more build up
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: with everything they were doing when they were shooting at
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: berns and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: Yeah, but no, it happened just happened so quickly. Yeah,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: it did indeed. So now we get them guarding the
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: border with guns. Agnuses allowed in, but the Norwegians aren't,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: and all our negative energy has been harnessed to help
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: keep Springfield's borders secure from Ogden Villians. But our group,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: it needs a name, and then it represents the US
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: history of defending our way of life.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: The Klan no bad ideas. Let's keep trying the Nazis.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: You stop truck they need.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Carl suggests the star spangled goofballs. That's what they go with,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: the goofballs, goofballs, goofballs. Yeah, Homer is now going to
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: be They've got a chair with balloons, and Home is
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: going to be referring to himself as screaming eagle up
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: above and letting the guys that on the bottom of
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: the ground loses ground losers patrol something on those lines
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: on the ground to find the ones that Homer spotting
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: from up above. They release the sandbags, but the chair
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: just breaks, so then Lenny and Carl take over. They
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: fly up in the in the chair on the balloons,
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: but they go two high and it's too cold up there.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: But we do see the uphouse came from the up house. Yeah,
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: interesting cameo. It wasn't owned by Disney at this point.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: It feels like something that have now because they're owned
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: by Disney, but they weren't owned by Disney at this point.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: And you mentioned up earlier when we were talking about,
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: you know, films that are going to be topping the
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: box office between two weeks. Yeah. Interesting.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: At least it was a timely reference.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: I'm sorry to say that this poorly can see patrol
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: carried out by a group of brank amateurs had somehow
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: been a failure. Yeah. Those body chaps of crafty. One
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: of them handcuffed me to this tree.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: Not a tree, chief, that's the street side. You just
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: looped your belt around it when you were changing your pants.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Okay, I'm hearing lots of problems but no solutions.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: And Homo sees Bart that he's bouncing a ball against
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: a billboard, right, and it ends up bouncing off the billboard,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: hits home in the head. He goes to choke him
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: to see.
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: The visual gag. Yet isn't there wasn't stop child abuse.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Yah, report child abuse. So we've got to choke Bart
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: and they realize, oh, no, we'll do We'll build a fence.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: We'll build a fence around this. It's saying all this, right,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Southbuck have already done this story, haven't they.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure, Yeah, Simpsons already done the story. Shitty,
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: what guy he's guarding the fence.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Remember they build a wall, So it wasn't So maybe
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: maybe Trump's actually a South Park fan.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: I wonder now, maybe just aishonado of animation. Maybe yeah, maybe.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Indeed, then we get dinner time and Marge is concerned
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: about the fact that they're going to be building a wall, says,
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: we've taught the kids to befriend those who are a
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: little bit different, and then Maggie, they're all going, does
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Thatt wrike you to go?
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: Yes, and Maggie says yeah. So she says yes in Norwegian,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: how many used as an example to why they should
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: build a fence, and March says, build it, Homie. High's
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: the sky deep as hell? So context a side, right,
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: And how horrible that is for Marge as a person
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: to say. I understand that she'd be annoyed by this.
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: Having Maggie speak for the first time and the family
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: see this is a huge moment in the history of
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: the show and it's just fobbed off for a quick game.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean it takes away from the daddy
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: moment for me where that's right.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I was just about to say, which they basically
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: film framed a whole episode around, had a whole bunch
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: of the sim mythology around. Yeah. So yeah, for them
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: to sort of throw that again under the bus.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: Because margin Homer and the family think that this is
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: actually her first word, and I was like, you just
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: sort of it means nothing.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, okay, what's the work around for this? Yeah?
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: Do you have her like maybe drawing like yah on
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: the wall in like Lingenbury jam or something, or just
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: don't have to have Marge approof of the wall at all?
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: Man also a possibility.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: I don't think Marcha ever have approved for the wall.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: I guess they're trying to say that even someone that
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: is good, even good people, can get caught up in
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: mob mentality, in the mentality of it all. Anyway, it
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: just annoyed me, and it shouldn't because I know it's
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: just season twenty the Simpsons, but I just sort of
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: went just this just feels like it takes away from
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: that classic Daddy.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: Ending of Lisa's first word.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: But then the mayor asks who knows how to build
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: a wall?
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: No one knows.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: I know who, Carp suggests the Norwegians, the barley jacks wall.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: We're getting the build it and they can bugger off.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: So they all help them build it.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: They're all there.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: I did love to keep out sign which was made,
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: and Ogden ill yes, and Snake is chatting away. One
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: of the guys he talks beout. His wife puts so
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: many pillows on the bed and they put in the
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: right order. And then the other one says, and she
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: always wants a cat slip in a bed.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: Tell me.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: Flanders bonds over the other guy with his button sweaters,
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: and then the kid mentions to Bart about the prime
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: and the happier stuff. Stay on the wall, a long geve.
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: You put primer first. And the war finally goes up,
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: and it's just silence. We get Ralph at Tumblewee, but
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: everyone sort of realizes, oh, it's kind of quiet. Yeah,
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: it kind of sucks. Something doesn't feel quite right here.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: It turns out in Norwegians they missed them, and because
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: of that they built a door as well, and they
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: realize he you know what, we should just let them in.
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: Okay, this begs the question, This raises the question. Yes,
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: why on earth with the Ogdenvillians wants to hang from
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: those people of Springfield? Why would they want to hang
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: out with them? No know where to go because they're
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: just so nice? I guess you know where to go?
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: I guess. Yeah. Ogdenville's ruined, isn't it. The olden Villions
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: seem pretty can do it. Feels like they could rebuild this.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: They could rebuild, they'd probably, But the thing is that they.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: Can build stuff, but their whole economy was built on
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: the Bari.
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: That's correct, Yes, and they need a good entrepreneur to
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: sort of show them the way. Yeah, they need a
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: dandough essential. But this is the thing.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Well, okay, they're going out of business right because no
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: one's to buy the bar anymore. But couldn't they just say, look,
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: we've cleaned our stuff up, We're just going to make
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: it properly again, because where else thinking eat the barallet
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: from shelby them? They shall people have a good barley.
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: I don't know, yeah, but you're right. Why would why
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: would they want to hang out with them, given.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: That they're yeah, being completely exploitative and kind of cruel.
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: And I bet you next week we never see them again.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: Oh and speaking, hey, speaking next week, do you think
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: Home is going to get his job back? What job? What?
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: I was thinking about this the other night.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: Probably happily ever after that's the end of the episode.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: Oh yeah, the end I think a big swing is
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: sore they've ever seen and the Uegian flag and yeah, yeah,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: yeah were.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: The Homer keep losing his job? I mean, should they
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: make it like a plot point or a story sort
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: of driver in Egyptue where he loses one that he
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: has to find some way to get it back, that
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: he has to who persuade Smithers or mister Burns like
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: no you really need me? Or or have him sucking
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: up or having to do something and genius to get
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: his job back. I don't know, I get the feeling
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: that might be kind of fun.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: I think at this point here it feels as a
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: vieurop of Season twenty of The Simpsons that the writers
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: almost see Homer's job as a roadblock and a nuisance
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: because they want to use him as a tool for comedices.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: Escapade is on the show. But him having a job means, oh,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: he can't do that. So they's either don't acknowledge the
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: job or they fight get him fired, fired and fired.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: If they had their way, he probably wouldn't work at
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: the power plant anymore. But how could this the family
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: function without a breadwinner? Yeah, so that's why he still
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: has to have the job. But it's almost like him
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: having a job now is just oh, he's got a job,
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: but don't worry about it.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: Don't wry about that.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: They let him get away or whatever. Yeah, so it
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: seems a bit far fetched now, but that's what happens
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: when a show goes for twenty plus years. Now thirty
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: seven years. It's pretty insane, right, it's very insane.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: What do we learn bomb? All right?
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: So what did you learn from the episode? Mister Davis?
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: That if you're gonna have facial hair, you'd better make
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: it rugged but reliable.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: What's reliable facial hair to you? So I don't like mustaches.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: I think mustache by itself is I don't know. You
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: have to be able to truly rock that mustache, that's correct.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: It's too many people out there trying thinking they're rocking
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: the mustache. And they're not rocking the mustache.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: Yes, there are really only three people who can wear
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: the mustacher, but Renald's Tom Selick and not Ned Flanders
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: and Ned Flanders that's correct. Yeah, yeah, otherwise you look
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: kind of seedy, particularly younger people.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: Speaking of Tom Selick, we've just reviewed the one where
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: doctor Ramore dies on the one about friends with my
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: wife Nicholas. If you like friends, check out our podcast
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: or one about friends that's now gonna be on our
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: YouTube channel as well. So if you're watching this, check
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: it out on our YouTube channel. Wow, you can see
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: who my wife is. She's real, not just a you know,
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: she lives in Canada. You don't know, m Yeah, but no,
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: you see people just rocking the mustache and like, no, no, no, no.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Facial hair is reliable. Facial hair is usually covering the
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: bottom half of your face.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: You know what annoying to me?
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: And it's just because I'm getting old, but seeing younger
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: people who know they can't grow a mustache, should they
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: grow the shitty mustache just purely out of iron? He
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: just like, I don't care, I don't care. This looks shit,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: and I'm like you should. I'm like, I'm not going
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: to react because I know that's why you've got this
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: thing here, but it annoys me in the inside.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: Oh what did I learned?
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: I'll learned that apparently there's now any three cops in
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: Springfield again. Yeah, just continuity out the window. But what
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: does Matt Salmon say? There's no canon, no such thing
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: as Canada continuity in the Simpsons, it doesn't exists.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: Forward, your names will be. It is now time for
