- 0:05If the walls of certain homes could speak, some of the stories
- 0:10they would tell would more than likely shock and amaze us, or
- 0:15perhaps repulse and terrify us instead.
- 0:20This is one such story that if a house could tell its own tale,
- 0:24it would certainly be one we would never forget.
- 0:27A family moves to the country in search of peace, but those
- 0:32dreams are soon shattered by supernatural terror.
- 0:36Something evil lurks within the woods outside of their home, and
- 0:40this evil begins to stalk and wreak havoc upon everyone that
- 0:45dwells within the home. Can they save themselves before
- 0:49it's too late? This is the untold story of the
- 0:53haunted Hinsdale House, also known as the Dandy House, and
- 0:57the entities that infested it. Hinsdale, NY, A small town with
- 1:09a rustic and rural charm, tucked deep into the countryside and
- 1:14far away from the crime, concrete and smog of New York
- 1:19City. Instead of gazing at
- 1:21skyscrapers, they would rather gaze at the surrounding
- 1:25mountains covered in dense foliage.
- 1:28But these mountains and their surrounding woods harbor many
- 1:32secrets and have many stories to tell.
- 1:36This is just one of them. The years 1970 and the Dandy
- 1:42family is in pursuit of their American dream.
- 1:46After years of vacationing to Hinsdale and the surrounding
- 1:50areas to catch a break from their fast-paced life in
- 1:53Buffalo, they finally reached a point where they can turn their
- 1:57vacation into their daily life. Seeking their own rural
- 2:02paradise, they come across a listing for a home that seems
- 2:06idyllic for their family and its needs.
- 2:10Clara Dandy, the mother of the family, believed that they all
- 2:14got along so much better in the country, like it had some form
- 2:18of redemption qualities about it that seemed to rejuvenate their
- 2:22spirits and their relationships. As they wind their way through
- 2:27the countryside, they lay eyes on the home for the first time.
- 2:31They are not only taken aback by the beauty and the sheer size of
- 2:35the house, but that it sat upon 8 acres of land surrounded by
- 2:40dense and breathtaking woods. Clara would describe her
- 2:44feelings about first seeing the house as being overcome with a
- 2:48deep sense of peace. It was like I had finally come
- 2:51home after years of being elsewhere.
- 2:54And the air, the air was like breathing champagne.
- 2:58It was wonderful. The home is over 100 years old
- 3:02and still had most of the original and ornate woodwork
- 3:05intact. It just seemed to emanate charm
- 3:09and elegance. As the children explored the
- 3:12nearby woods, Mr. and Missus Dandy continued their tour, but
- 3:18when they were being shown the storage space underneath the
- 3:21stairs, the door was initially stuck, but after some elbow
- 3:25grease from Mr. Dandy, they were finally able to get it open.
- 3:30It revealed A dusty space of sorts with a fireplace, the one
- 3:35that didn't seem to fit the feeling of the house at all.
- 3:39Clara would describe her feelings towards the space like
- 3:42this. I wasn't sure why, but I felt
- 3:45very uneasy when we opened up the storage space.
- 3:49I couldn't put my finger on it, but it was dark and desolate,
- 3:54not at all like the rest of the house.
- 3:57But she quickly would dismiss these feelings, attributing the
- 4:00creepy factor to her city upbringing and the fact that
- 4:04they didn't have storage rooms like that where she was from.
- 4:08After closing the space and continuing to evaluate their
- 4:11opportunity, the feelings of peace would return and the
- 4:15dandies decide that they can't resist the charm of this rustic
- 4:20100 year old home, so they decide to purchase it once
- 4:25things are squared away. Several months later they move
- 4:28in to start their new rural existence.
- 4:32On move in day, Claire's brother decided to lend a helping hand
- 4:36and had begun to move things in hours before the family was able
- 4:39to arrive. When loading in a box of
- 4:43belongings, as he opened the door he was greeted by a flurry
- 4:47of insects. Both bees and flies pelted him
- 4:51in his face, rushing past them and then unloading the box onto
- 4:56the floor in the main room. He was startled to see hundreds
- 4:59of dead bees scattered all over the floor, and even more
- 5:04startled to see hundreds still alive encoding the windows.
- 5:10It was still cold during this time of year and although he too
- 5:14wasn't from the country, he found it rather odd that there
- 5:17would be any kind of infestation at this time.
- 5:21When his sister and her family finally arrive, he greets her
- 5:24with the news and in order to continue with the move in, they
- 5:29have to call an exterminator. Upon his arrival, he too
- 5:33confirms the oddity of the situation.
- 5:36He said that he had never seen so many bees and flies in one
- 5:39spot in a home, and given this time of year, it was not normal
- 5:44for them to swarm or infest anything during this time.
- 5:48It takes some time, but after he finishes clearing them out, the
- 5:52family is finally able to get moved in.
- 5:56As time progresses, things seem to fit the dreams they had for
- 6:00moving there in the 1st place. The family finally seems at
- 6:04peace. They were getting along better
- 6:07and enjoying each other's company, a far departure from
- 6:10their city life in Buffalo. But as the old adage goes, if it
- 6:15seems too good to be true, it is.
- 6:19A few weeks into living in what they believed was going to be
- 6:23their rural paradise, their son Mike has met and made friends
- 6:27with a nearby neighbor. Together, they begin to explore
- 6:31the woods surrounding the Dandy property.
- 6:34As the two navigate the forest, they're startled when they hear
- 6:38the crunching of leaves directly in front of them.
- 6:41Stopping frozen in their tracks and fearing that it could be a
- 6:45bear, they take refuge behind a large tree and sneak glimpses
- 6:51from rounded sides to figure out just what it could be.
- 6:55To their shock, they spot a boy not much older than them
- 6:59carrying a rifle and walking in the path ahead.
- 7:04Yelling at the boy that this is private property and wanting to
- 7:07know what he was doing there, they run towards him and try to
- 7:11catch up to him. They again freeze in their
- 7:14tracks when they notice that not only is the boy transparent the
- 7:18closer they get, but half of his head is missing.
- 7:23As the figure continues to walk and taking deep breaths, they
- 7:28slowly continue to follow him. The three approach a small lake.
- 7:34Within the blink of an eye, the boy vanishes.
- 7:38Mike and his friend are at a loss for words and have no
- 7:41explanation for what they saw. They quickly rush back to the
- 7:46Dandy house as fast as they can to tell anyone who will listen
- 7:50to them. They soon make contact with
- 7:52Clara and explain to her what took place, but she's quick to
- 7:57dismiss their experience as nothing more than overactive
- 8:01imaginations. Another several weeks pass by
- 8:05and Clara has all but forgotten about what her son had told her.
- 8:10She's now walking the family dog, Madison, in the woods after
- 8:13some fresh air and exercise. As they get deeper into the
- 8:18forest, Clara starts to hear what can only be described as
- 8:22chanting. As she stops to listen, it
- 8:26sounds eerie and disembodied, as if the sound is all around her
- 8:32but has no true origin. It's at this time that Madison
- 8:38begins growling and barking. The longer she seems to focus on
- 8:43the chanting, the louder it seems to become.
- 8:47Madison by this point is losing her mind and breaks free from a
- 8:51distracted Clara and bolts in the direction of their home.
- 8:56Clara chases her down and she finally stops running when she
- 8:59makes it to the front door of their estate.
- 9:03After taking a moment to collect herself, Clara then calls her
- 9:06husband, who, like she was to her son, was quick to dismiss
- 9:11her feelings, thinking that she just had to adjust to rural life
- 9:15and wasn't used to it being so different from their life in the
- 9:19city. Frustrated and worried now about
- 9:22what the chanting could have been, Clara talks with her son
- 9:25about her experience while she prepares dinner for the family.
- 9:30Mike thinks that it could have been some campers at a nearby
- 9:33campground not too far from where their property line ends
- 9:37that could have been the cause of the strange sounds.
- 9:40To try and put his mother at ease, he and his friend Matt
- 9:43once again take to the woods to explore this possibility.
- 9:47As they venture further into the woods to lookout point towards
- 9:51the campsite, they see nothing. There are no signs of any
- 9:55campers that could be nearby enough to have caused such a
- 9:59noise. Even more perplexed now that
- 10:02there was no explanation, the boys start to make their way
- 10:06back to the house when suddenly they hear what sounds like an
- 10:11axe studying into a tree right next to them, unsure of what
- 10:16that noise could have been. Before they could even begin to
- 10:19ponder or investigate, they hear a woman screaming to their left.
- 10:25This frightens them so bad that the two young men run as fast as
- 10:29they can all the way back to the Dandy's home.
- 10:32When they arrive, Mike is truly scared this time.
- 10:37He has no way of explaining his mother's experience or any of
- 10:41his own either. Upon relaying this information
- 10:44to Clara, both of them are left beside themselves now with a
- 10:49chill up both of their spines. But these weird events thus far
- 10:55would only intensify as the sands of time continue to
- 10:59trickle into the outer class. It has now been months since the
- 11:04initial experiences. Besides the oddities they were,
- 11:09the family's life continues to be great.
- 11:12This distance from the experiences only makes them ever
- 11:15easier to dismiss. In the minds of Clara and M1
- 11:21Day, Phil or Mr. Dandy decides to take the children, Mike and
- 11:26Tina, into Buffalo for the day to get some errands done.
- 11:30Mostly being a homebody, Clara decides to forgo the trip with
- 11:34her family and relax at home reading her latest book instead.
- 11:39When her family departs, Clara finds herself curled up on the
- 11:43couch and immersed in her latest story as a warm breeze drifts
- 11:48through the open windows of the house.
- 11:50As she reads page to page, she is suddenly startled when the
- 11:56window closest to her slams shut.
- 11:59Upon investigating, it makes no sense to her because the breeze
- 12:04was light, not forceful at all, and their windows were fairly
- 12:09new, which made it all the stranger.
- 12:12But as she always does, she dismisses the happening as
- 12:16nothing more than a weird coincidence and heads back to
- 12:20her book. Several nights later, as Mike
- 12:24lay asleep in his bed, he's suddenly woken up when a nearby
- 12:29box of a chess game drops onto his chest.
- 12:33A storage shelf is directly above his head, so opening his
- 12:37eyes, he glances up to see if perhaps it could have been
- 12:41hanging too far off the edge, causing it to fall.
- 12:45And to his shock, he begins to see several more boxes slowly
- 12:49shifting towards the edge by themselves.
- 12:54The lowest one then suddenly flies out from the rest and
- 12:59smacks him in the chest. Terrified, he sits up, trying to
- 13:04catch his breath. He has no way of explaining how
- 13:07the lowest box could be pulled and thrown with such force
- 13:12without bringing the rest of the boxes with it.
- 13:15As if someone or something had grabbed and thrown it by a will
- 13:20of its own. Calling out to his mom in the
- 13:23darkness, she soon arrives in the doorway of his room.
- 13:28Being a very science and logic minded person, Mike has no way
- 13:32to explain what has happened. Examining the pile, Clara too is
- 13:38perplexed and becomes just as scared when another box from a
- 13:42different pile flies across the room, causing both of them to
- 13:47scream in terror and run out as fast as possible.
- 13:52Trying to make sense of what was taking place, Clara fears that
- 13:56whatever could be lurking in the woods has been stalking her
- 14:00family and has slowly but surely, like a malignant stain,
- 14:06invaded her home. As her fears turned into a
- 14:10revelation, Claire decides to reach out to a local priest for
- 14:14help, hoping her faith will help her come up with some answers
- 14:19and better yet, some solutions. She speaks with a priest named
- 14:24Father Alphonsus at the University of Saint Bonaventure.
- 14:29He believes that the activity could be a poltergeist, but
- 14:32given the intelligent nature of how it seemed to be behaving,
- 14:36Clara has her doubts but nonetheless wants an expert's
- 14:41opinion and assistance. So arrangements are made for the
- 14:46Father to come out and bless the home, and after several days, he
- 14:51arrives. On April 13th, 1975, the
- 14:56cleansing begins. As the family and the priest
- 15:01were all gathered together, and as he began to speak, a series
- 15:05of horrible wailing and moaning noises began to fill the home as
- 15:11if the house itself was crying. The scent of burning matter also
- 15:18quickly enveloped the house. The activity reached a fever
- 15:22pitch when the priest opened and began to pray over the crawl
- 15:26space that was underneath the stairs.
- 15:29But after this, a blissful silence overtook them all.
- 15:34It was if whatever entities that dwelled within the walls of the
- 15:38dandies home had finally been evicted.
- 15:43Within time, the father gathered his things, exchanged
- 15:47pleasantries, and departed for the evening.
- 15:51The family now believed that their darkest days were behind
- 15:54them, and for all intents and purposes, that seemed to be the
- 15:58case. But as if to mock the Holy
- 16:01Trinity itself, three months later to the day, all hell would
- 16:06break loose once again. That night, while her husband is
- 16:12away on a business trip, Clara finds herself woken up out of a
- 16:16dead sleep by a series of knocks coming from inside the walls.
- 16:22The knocks themselves are soon accompanied with whispers from
- 16:26someone that she can't see. As she apprehensively makes her
- 16:31way from her room and slowly down the stairs headed towards
- 16:35the main level, the apparition of a young girl begins to walk
- 16:40by the stairs. She slowly makes her way to the
- 16:44crawl space, opens the door, encloses it behind her.
- 16:50Clara's baffled at the sight. After gathering up her courage,
- 16:55she too makes her way fully down the stairs into the crawl space,
- 17:00and after a moment of bracing herself, she opens the door and
- 17:05went to be met with nothing. Clara then makes her way to her
- 17:10daughter Tina's room to make sure it somehow wasn't her and
- 17:15perhaps her nerves were just on edge.
- 17:18But after opening her door, she finds her fast asleep in her bed
- 17:23with no signs that she had been awake for some time.
- 17:27The following morning, while the rest of her family is still
- 17:30asleep, Tina wakes up to begin her day.
- 17:34As she feeds her pet bird in its cage and begins to brush her
- 17:38hair in her Oval mirror, she notices that her bird isn't
- 17:42doing its usual whistles. As she glances over at them, she
- 17:47finds it staring into the corner of the room.
- 17:50As Tina glances back up at the mirror, she's met with the
- 17:54apparition of a young girl. Her face is sunk in and her eyes
- 18:01were gone. She screams in terror and just
- 18:05as quickly as it appeared, the apparition disappears.
- 18:10The screams of her daughter startles and quickly summons
- 18:13Clara to her daughter's room. As she consoles Tina, she
- 18:18realizes that the priest's blessings were ineffective.
- 18:22She quickly calls Father Al back and explains what had taken
- 18:26place the previous night and that morning.
- 18:30And although he is busy, he promises to come back as soon as
- 18:34possible, and this time to bring a paranormal expert with him as
- 18:38well to help him determine the cause and hopefully find a
- 18:42working solution. He's able to come back the
- 18:45following week. In the meantime, Clara's
- 18:49determined to keep her family calm.
- 18:52If she can control her own emotions, she knows that
- 18:55everything else will be OK. As they wait for the priest to
- 18:59return, Clara tries her best to keep her family calm and live
- 19:04some sort of a normal existence. That weekend, her and Phil are
- 19:09watching a movie while Mike and Tina are out with friends.
- 19:14As they enjoy their time together, their happiness is
- 19:17quickly shattered by a huge crashing noise coming from
- 19:21outside of their house. Quickly grabbing a flashlight
- 19:26and running outside to investigate together, they
- 19:29quietly step towards where they believed the noise to be
- 19:32originating from, and suddenly they hear it again.
- 19:37But this time, thankfully for them, the origin is not
- 19:43paranormal. This time, there's several
- 19:46raccoons who happened to be forging through their metal
- 19:49trash cans for something to eat. Relieved for that moment, they
- 19:54start to make their way back to the house when they suddenly see
- 19:58the figure of a young girl in their living room window,
- 20:02staring at them as they rush inside.
- 20:06They run up into Tina's room, where they find her incoherent
- 20:11and staring into her Oval mirror.
- 20:14They try to get her attention, but she's entirely unresponsive.
- 20:19Her pale blue eyes are black. Panicking, they shake her and
- 20:26yell her name, not knowing what else to do when she eventually
- 20:30comes back. In that moment and later, Tina
- 20:34will not recall how she got home or what exactly happened.
- 20:40As the family tries to gather themselves from the shock of
- 20:43what had just taken place, they hear movement coming from Mike's
- 20:48room. Phil tells his family not to
- 20:51leave Tina's room. As he rushes to investigate,
- 20:55however, the home phone begins to ring.
- 21:00It's Mike. He's asking if he can stay the
- 21:03night at his friend Randy's house.
- 21:06However, when told what was going on, he quickly tells her
- 21:09that he's coming home to help in any way that he can.
- 21:13Rushing to his car, Randy offers to come with him, to which Mike
- 21:17agrees. Randy would later recount that
- 21:21Mike's hands were sweating and he was shaking, Gripping the
- 21:25steering wheel. He was pale.
- 21:27I asked him what was wrong, and he said that things were
- 21:30happening at the house that he couldn't explain.
- 21:34The boys quickly arrived to find the family in chaos.
- 21:39Phil is prepared to do battle with whatever force is within
- 21:42the house, and the girls are staying close to one another,
- 21:45attempting to comfort each other.
- 21:48As they try to determine a course of action, all the lights
- 21:52in the house go out. They then begin to hear banging
- 21:57and scratching coming from the crawl space.
- 22:01Flashlights still in hand, Phil, with the backup of his family,
- 22:06shines the light towards him and begins to make his way towards
- 22:10whatever this thing is. It seems like with each step he
- 22:14takes, the sounds become louder, and after a tense several
- 22:19seconds, he opens the door to the crawl space.
- 22:23Inside, they find that the fireplace that was once there
- 22:27has been completely disassembled.
- 22:30Its bricks have now been stacked in an elaborate pile directly in
- 22:34the middle of the small room. The amount of effort and
- 22:37strength required to perform such a task convinces all of
- 22:42them that whatever they're dealing with is strong,
- 22:46persistent, and perhaps uncleansable.
- 22:50Nonetheless, with their spirits waning, Claire makes a desperate
- 22:54call to Father Al, who agrees to come earlier than originally
- 22:58planned and makes emergency arrangements for himself and his
- 23:02paranormal expert of a friend to come out that night.
- 23:07They arrive as soon as possible. The paranormal expert is a man
- 23:11by the name of Alex Tennis, a well respected paranormal
- 23:15researcher and psychic whose abilities were studied at the
- 23:20American Society of Psychic Research.
- 23:24Together, they make their way to the door of the Dandy House,
- 23:28hoping to help rid this family of whatever seems to be stalking
- 23:32them. After being let in, the family
- 23:35quickly leads the pair to the crawlspace to show them just
- 23:38what they were talking about. Although he was aware that some
- 23:42sort of activity was taking place, Alex had not been given
- 23:46any additional details or information in regards to the
- 23:49home, its history, or happenings.
- 23:53As he steps into the crawlspace room, he begins to have a
- 23:57vision. In his vision, he sees multiple
- 24:00dead bodies stacked within the crawlspace itself.
- 24:05After the vision subsides, Alex begins to explain to the family
- 24:09what he saw. He believed that many had passed
- 24:12away within the home itself, some of natural causes and some
- 24:18of murder. It was his conviction that based
- 24:21on what he saw, that the house used to be a stopping point for
- 24:25a Stagecoach or perhaps some kind of inn where people would
- 24:29stay the night before departing the following morning.
- 24:32It was also his belief that there was a nearby criminal or
- 24:36gang of criminals that would often rob and kill nearby
- 24:40travellers and that perhaps these souls somehow became
- 24:43trapped here when someone passed or was found dead nearby.
- 24:48Being the only stopping point in the area, their bodies would be
- 24:52placed in the crawl space until they could receive a proper
- 24:56burial. It was also his belief that
- 24:59there were seven different spirits that were trapped within
- 25:01the home all together. With this revelation, the
- 25:05family, Alex and the father pray that the trapped spirits within
- 25:10the home find peace and be released so that they may go on
- 25:14to their final destination. Upon the pair's departure, Clara
- 25:19once again has renewed hope. The home, as it did the first
- 25:23time around, seemed to be cleansed and to be more
- 25:26peaceful. Meanwhile, Mike and his friend
- 25:30Randy were skeptical of Alex's conclusions.
- 25:33After he left, they used an old map of the area to trace where
- 25:38he had said the old Stagecoach route was.
- 25:41They did indeed find what they believed to be an old trail that
- 25:44could have been used for such a thing, and the trail passed
- 25:48right by the Dandy home. But during their search, as they
- 25:52were following the trail out and headed back to the house, they
- 25:56experienced strangeness of their own.
- 25:58As they began to trace the trail, they began to see what
- 26:01they described as orbs of light in the nearby trees, and these
- 26:06orbs began to come at them. Randy, having never seen or
- 26:11experienced anything supernatural before, began to
- 26:15have a panic attack upon arriving at the house.
- 26:18They were fortunately able to get him calmed down.
- 26:21By this point it was late in the night and the entire family
- 26:25needed to try and get some form of sleep in order to function
- 26:29the following day. Randy ended up staying the night
- 26:33since he had rode with Mike. Once everyone else was settled
- 26:37down for the night and fast asleep, Clara sat by herself
- 26:42weeping. She felt that her and her family
- 26:45were helpless in the situation and that all efforts have been
- 26:49exhausted and that they needed to move.
- 26:52The only problem was that all their money, every last dime,
- 26:56had been sunk into the house, leaving them stranded.
- 27:01She would continue to contemplate the future and would
- 27:04cry herself to sleep that night. The following morning, as the
- 27:08family began to wake up and start to try and resume some
- 27:12form of normalcy, Mike went ahead and departed with Randy to
- 27:16take him home. Several hours would go by and
- 27:20Mike hadn't returned. Finally, there was a knock on
- 27:23the door. It was a police officer.
- 27:27He informed the family that there had been an accident, that
- 27:30they needed to head to the hospital as soon as possible.
- 27:34Rushing into the car into the hospital, the Dandy family
- 27:38wondered just what had happened. There had been no mention of
- 27:41Randy by the officer at the time.
- 27:44Upon arriving, they were briefed that Mike had lost control of
- 27:48his vehicle and crashed into a nearby ditch.
- 27:52He was now undergoing emergency surgery.
- 27:55He had extensive head injuries, A ruptured spleen that may have
- 27:59to be removed, and that he had lost a very significant amount
- 28:03of blood. As they waited for the outcome
- 28:06of their son's surgery, the Dandies were once again greeted
- 28:09by the officer who had knocked on their door.
- 28:12He explained to them that Randy had indeed been dropped off and
- 28:16that Mike had wrecked on his way back to the Dandy residence, but
- 28:20as he was being loaded into the ambulance, he kept saying that
- 28:24there was another person in the car with him.
- 28:27Although they believed him to be confused on account of his
- 28:29injuries. They went ahead and searched the
- 28:32area nonetheless, but another person was never found.
- 28:37After two weeks of being in a coma, Mike finally wakes up, but
- 28:42unfortunately has no recollection as to what exactly
- 28:46happened to him to cause the accident.
- 28:49Clara, however, believes that whatever presence that's been
- 28:52plugging their lives had to have been responsible for what
- 28:56happened to her son. After months of recovery for
- 29:00Mike and continued paranormal activity within the home, Father
- 29:04Alphonsus would return with Alex one last and final time at
- 29:09Claire's request to try and rid the home of the evil and
- 29:13persistent force that had drained the life out of all of
- 29:17them for years now. However, this time just the
- 29:21Father and Alex would perform the cleansing inside the home
- 29:25themselves. As they moved from room to room,
- 29:30Alex would once again experience multiple visions of the past.
- 29:34His visions would tell him that of the seven spirits who he
- 29:38believed to be within the house, 1 was that of a young man who
- 29:42had been in some kind of a war or battle near where the
- 29:46property sits now. Another was that of a young girl
- 29:50who had passed from some sort of very painful illness in what was
- 29:54now Tina's room. And there was another spirit
- 29:58that seemed to be keeping herself and others trapped
- 30:01within the house. It was the spirit of a woman who
- 30:05was incredibly angry and resentful.
- 30:08She continued to be possessive, depressive and just as angry and
- 30:13death as she was in life. Refusing to pass on believing
- 30:18what they had identified to be the source of the paranormal
- 30:21activity, Father Al decided to take a different approach to the
- 30:26cleansing itself. Although an exorcism cannot be
- 30:29performed on a place, but rather has to be performed on an
- 30:32individual, the rights themselves could in theory be
- 30:36performed or added to a series of prayers to try and use their
- 30:41strong cleansing powers to clear out a home such as this one.
- 30:46So that's exactly what the Father did.
- 30:48He began to perform the rites of exorcism within the house
- 30:52itself. As the prayers began to exit his
- 30:55lips, varying with intensity as the rights often do, the home
- 31:01began to literally shake, and the horrific moaning and wailing
- 31:06that had made itself present in the very first cleansing seemed
- 31:10to return with a vengeance. Every horrible feeling, banging,
- 31:15knocking and scratching noise that the family had experienced
- 31:19thus far was present and seemed to be magnified.
- 31:24It takes hours, but eventually the rites are finished.
- 31:28As the dust settles, so to speak, the home seems peaceful
- 31:33and blissful, like it did when the family had first visited and
- 31:37decided to buy the home. And again, for three more
- 31:41months, the family lives in peace.
- 31:45But like the persistent force that has manifested itself to
- 31:48be, the haunting begins again. The Dandy family, despite their
- 31:53best efforts, simply cannot take it anymore, decide to cut their
- 31:58losses and move. Unable to find a buyer for their
- 32:03house, they eventually declare bankruptcy.
- 32:07Shortly after this, Phil and Clara would also divorce,
- 32:12bringing a sad and bitter end to what was supposed to be a rural
- 32:16redemption for the Dandy family. However, this wouldn't be the
- 32:21end of the story of the Hensdale house.
- 32:25Eventually, the home would come into the possession of Daniel
- 32:29Klaus, who currently owns it. Daniel's a renowned paranormal
- 32:34investigator and has been involved with the likes of Nick
- 32:37Groff and has made appearances on tons of national TV programs
- 32:42centered around the paranormal over the years.
- 32:46Having been raised in a haunted house, this led to a lifelong
- 32:49fascination with the Paranormal Forum.
- 32:52After years of restoration, it is now available for both
- 32:56investigations and tours and is still considered a very active
- 33:01paranormal portal and is kept open as a paranormal research
- 33:06location. It's even staged in the 1970s
- 33:09period to maintain the integrity of when the hauntings were
- 33:14initially known to have began. But now that we know the back
- 33:17story of the 20th and into the 21st century of the Hensdale
- 33:21house, just who owned it, what happened to them and who owns it
- 33:26now, I would like to shift your attention to some of the
- 33:29plausible theories as to what could have caused the haunting.
- 33:34Many theories of what could have caused the haunting have been
- 33:36formed over the years by the many people who have researched
- 33:40and have been interested in the case.
- 33:42One theory is that the home was built on top of an Indian burial
- 33:46mound. This of course could have
- 33:48disturbed the spirits of the natives that rested within the
- 33:51land, and although tribes who used this method of burial were
- 33:55present in the area back in history, there's little to no
- 33:59evidence to support this claim. But perhaps any evidence by this
- 34:03point could have long since been lost to the sands of time or
- 34:08could have been removed when the home was initially built.
- 34:11Another theory is that the home was at one point used as a
- 34:15Stagecoach in and passerby's were murdered either near or
- 34:19within the home itself, leading to their spirits being trapped
- 34:23within the home or on its land. Although there is evidence that
- 34:28a Stagecoach route did run very close to the home, there isn't
- 34:32direct evidence that the house itself was used as an inn, but
- 34:36it is possible murders also did take place in or around the area
- 34:41in which the home is now located, which could lend
- 34:44credence to the theories of criminals robbing and murdering
- 34:47people along the Stagecoach route.
- 34:50An old family from the area that used to own the home with the
- 34:54last name of McMahon also lends credence to the home being used
- 34:58as an inn at some point. The now past grandfather of the
- 35:02family used to tell stories of a road that passed by the house
- 35:07where stagecoaches travelled. Another theory is that one or
- 35:12several of the spirits were trapped as a result of hangings
- 35:15that took place there. The now famous hanging tree that
- 35:19sits near the residence was indeed used for executions for a
- 35:23time. Most famously, it seems, was the
- 35:27execution of a woman named Elizabeth.
- 35:30Elizabeth was pregnant. Could this perhaps be the spirit
- 35:34of the woman who was angry and refusing to leave?
- 35:39Other events, such as the homicide that took place in the
- 35:42year 2000 near the house, as well as a buzz saw incident that
- 35:47led to a boy's death, have led many to believe that whatever
- 35:51haunts the area could indeed still be there and influencing
- 35:56our world. It's important in my opinion to
- 36:00try and get the story and the facts as straight as possible,
- 36:03not only for the current owners benefit, but for the dandies who
- 36:07have suffered greatly as a result of their story becoming
- 36:10public, especially towards the end of their time at the
- 36:14property. As word got out that something
- 36:16strange was taking place at the house, a local paper ended up
- 36:20reaching out to the dandies for a statement.
- 36:23Thinking that they were accepting an opportunity for
- 36:25additional outside help, they gave their story only to be met
- 36:30with ridicule from the paper, which in turn led to ridicule
- 36:33from the public and nearby residents.
- 36:37Which this combined with the paranormal torment they were
- 36:39experiencing along with then having to file bankruptcy and
- 36:44then later divorce. In my opinion, they suffered
- 36:48greatly and did not benefit from the story especially during that
- 36:52time. The only benefit I've seen could
- 36:55be from Clara Miller, formerly Clara Dandy, who would
- 37:00eventually write a book known as Echoes of a Haunting.
- 37:03But to be fair, if I experienced even a portion of what she did,
- 37:07I would eventually write a book to catalog what happened as
- 37:10well. Not only for some monetary
- 37:13benefit, of course, but for my own sanity really.
- 37:17So as I've began to mention and will continue to mention again
- 37:21in the future, if you ever encounter anyone mentioned in
- 37:24this video or any of my other videos, whether it be in person
- 37:29or online, please be respectful of them and their experiences
- 37:34and do not ever harass anyone. And if you find yourself
- 37:38seemingly handed an opportunity that seems too good to be true
- 37:43the answer to your prayers, it's more than likely not the case.
- 37:48It could be a nightmare waiting to happen.
- 37:51It could be a haunted home infested with entities sitting
- 37:56and waiting for the perfect victim.
- 37:58Don't let it be you. Could an item, if given enough
- 38:03energy, devotion and focus, begin to take on a life of its
- 38:08own? Could it begin to exhibit human
- 38:11like characteristics as if it has been imbued with or contains
- 38:16some kind of soul or entity inside of it?
- 38:19This act of magic has been practiced by multiple religions
- 38:23and cults throughout the ages. This is just one very strange
- 38:27example that it could indeed be possible.
- 38:31After a gracious gift was placed into the arms of a little girl,
- 38:36tragedy would strike and what follows would continue to haunt
- 38:40the family, the citizens of the village, and would soon cross
- 38:44far beyond the barriers of land and sea.
- 38:48This is the untold story of Akiku, the haunted Japanese tall
- 38:53and the bizarre paranormal force that possessed it.
- 39:05Japan is a very mystical and spiritual place, a place where
- 39:11the souls of the past seem to interact with the living.
- 39:15Such places where this spiritual energy seems to be most visible
- 39:20is throughout many of Japan's spiritual temples, home to many
- 39:25religions, the two main ones being Buddhism and Shintoism.
- 39:30Thousands of temples exist all over the country, but one in
- 39:34particular houses a spiritual artifact that has a tragic back
- 39:39story and an even more terrifying story that continues
- 39:43to be written to this day. Located in Hokkaido, Japan at
- 39:48the Menenji Buddhist Temple is a doll with a bizarre and tragic
- 39:53back story. Indeed.
- 39:55Although there are several origin stories of how the doll
- 39:58came to be and how the temple became its final living space,
- 40:03so to speak, all of them have most of the main details in
- 40:07common. Therefore, I'll be telling the
- 40:10most agreed upon origin story to try and be as true to the legend
- 40:14as I can. The years 1918 in Hokkaido,
- 40:19Japan. And a 17 year old boy by the
- 40:22name of Ikiki Suzuki is in search of a gift for his little
- 40:27sister's birthday. As he pursues the different
- 40:30vendors and small shops, something soon catches his
- 40:34attention. In one of the store windows, he
- 40:38spots a small childlike doll wearing a traditional Japanese
- 40:43kimono. Knowing that he had finally
- 40:45found something his sister will love, Akiki quickly purchases
- 40:49the doll and makes his way back home through the countryside.
- 40:54As the family celebrates their little girl's birthday, Akiku is
- 40:59presented with the doll and almost immediately, as soon as
- 41:03her eyes meet hers, she falls in love with it.
- 41:07The two from this point, become inseparable.
- 41:10Wherever Akiku is, her doll is right by her side.
- 41:15She Combs her hair, bathes her, dresses her and treats her as if
- 41:20she was her little sister. The two even share meals and
- 41:24sleep side by side. The joy that the doll brought a
- 41:28Kiku must have filled Ekiki's heart with such happiness.
- 41:33But soon, that happiness would change to tragedy.
- 41:37One hot day, as the little girl played outside with her doll,
- 41:41she was bitten by a mosquito. This benign insect by it would
- 41:45soon manifest itself into a horrible case of malaria.
- 41:51Although the family did everything they could possibly
- 41:53do, Okiku would pass away scared and gasping for air as she
- 41:59clutched her special doll all the way until the moment she
- 42:03took her last breath devastated. The Suzuki's plan to have their
- 42:08little girl buried with the doll since she loved it so much, but
- 42:12unfortunately, due to either governmental or religious
- 42:16oversight at the time, this wasn't an option.
- 42:19Instead, after they had laid a Kiku to rest, the doll would be
- 42:24placed on a small family shrine located within the living
- 42:27quarters of their home as a tribute of sorts to their late
- 42:31daughter and their love for her. But shortly after the doll was
- 42:35placed on the shrine, very strange things began to happen.
- 42:40A Kiki, upon walking past the shrine one day, noticed that the
- 42:44doll's hair seemed significantly longer than what it had been
- 42:48when it was placed there. The hair which was originally
- 42:52shoulders length on the doll itself and black was now
- 42:56overgrown with differing shades of brown hair also coming
- 43:00through and splitting at the ends.
- 43:03Finding this bizarre to say the least, he brought the discovery
- 43:07to his parents attention and unsure of what else to do, they
- 43:11trimmed the dolls hair as the days came and when the family
- 43:15began to have distressing dreams at night of their departed
- 43:19Okiku. Sometimes she would be scared
- 43:22and alone in the darkness, calling out to them, only being
- 43:26recognized by her voice. Other times she would blame them
- 43:31for what happened to her. Each member of the family at
- 43:34differing times had these dreams, and they would soon lead
- 43:38all of them to believe that Akiku's soul wasn't peacefully
- 43:42resting. These disturbing dreams soon
- 43:45became all the stranger when the doll, which they began to refer
- 43:49to as Akiku and their daughter's honor, would appear by their
- 43:53bedsides following these nightmares.
- 43:57One such incident involved the father of the family waking up
- 44:01in a cold sweat only to be met face to face with a blank and
- 44:07lifeless stare of the doll. Unsure of what was taking place,
- 44:13the Suzuki's turn to their faith.
- 44:16After contacting a local Buddhist priest and having a
- 44:19cleansing ritual be performed on their home and the doll, the
- 44:23activity seemed to grow and become stronger.
- 44:27Accompanying their ever frequent nightmares and random movements
- 44:31of the doll, the chilling events grew into full blown spiritual
- 44:35manifestations during their waking life.
- 44:39They soon began to hear banging noises all throughout the house
- 44:43and the whispers of a little girl.
- 44:46Strange disembodied voices varying from high pitched like
- 44:51those of a child to the low groans of something
- 44:54unexplainable began to be heard. Their lights began to flicker on
- 45:00and off, and the paranormal activity seemed to happen more
- 45:04frequently as the calendar ticked closer to the birth and
- 45:08death dates of Akiku. These strange and terrifying
- 45:13happenings would continue over the course of the next 20 years,
- 45:18with multiple religious, priests and shamans being contacted and
- 45:22all coming to the same conclusion that after the
- 45:25cleansings failed time and time again, that the restless spirit
- 45:29of Akiku now inhabited the doll she once loved so much.
- 45:34Finally needing a major change and unable to deal with the ever
- 45:39intensifying spiritual presence that seemed to haunt their home,
- 45:43the Suzuki's relocated to a different district.
- 45:48Believing the doll to be the source of their various ailments
- 45:51and emotional torture that they had endured over the last two
- 45:54decades, they had no desire to take it with them.
- 45:58The family had reached the conclusion that if their
- 46:00daughter's soul wasn't at peace, what could perhaps be helping to
- 46:04fuel Akiku's power or magic was the close proximity of her grave
- 46:10to their home where the doll resided.
- 46:13So in order to distance the doll from the grave, the family
- 46:16approached the Meninge Buddhist Temple in Hokkaido, and over the
- 46:20years, the Dahl's reputation for being haunted had spread
- 46:25throughout the community and indeed the majority of the
- 46:28country. This was more than likely due to
- 46:30the various interactions between the spiritual community and the
- 46:34Suzuki family finding the Dahl to be mesmerizing and possibly a
- 46:39unique opportunity to commute and interact with the dead.
- 46:43If the stories were true, the leaders and priests of the
- 46:47Meninge temple agreed to home Okiku permanently.
- 46:51As with many legends, we find lots of details to be
- 46:54exaggerated over time and perhaps some of the details to
- 46:58not be true at all. And this is what the priests
- 47:01were originally thinking, that perhaps due to grief, the family
- 47:06was dealing with other spiritual ailments perhaps unrelated to
- 47:10the doll, or causing the doll to be a vessel of sorts for
- 47:14restless spirits. However, as the years came and
- 47:18went, as Akiku now called the temple her home, they began to
- 47:22slowly but surely experience the same strangeness the Suzuki's
- 47:27had. For all of those years.
- 47:30Akiku's hair continued to grow and this baffled the priests.
- 47:35They would eventually have the hair trimmed and tested, and the
- 47:38hair was said to belong to a little girl.
- 47:42They found that the entity seemed to be appeased when her
- 47:45hair was trimmed and combed, and this led to less activity for a
- 47:50time. But the same activity?
- 47:52The knocking, banging, and disembodied voices which soon
- 47:57plagued the temple as well. No, Kiku's power only seemed to
- 48:02grow. Any priest who seemed skeptical
- 48:05of the doll or attempted to cleanse it themselves soon had
- 48:09their dreams haunted as well, turning their sleep into
- 48:13restless fits. Their homes and rooms soon also
- 48:17began to manifest the very same activity that the temple was now
- 48:22exhibiting. With no remedy seeming to work,
- 48:25the leaders turned to appeasement instead, hoping that
- 48:29gestures of goodwill would keep the entity at Bay.
- 48:33As years turn to decades, and as we've come into the 21st
- 48:36century, the priests of multiple generations now have overseen
- 48:41and cared for the Dahl known as Akiku.
- 48:45And though some of the more violent activity has faded, the
- 48:48general consensus is that she is now just as powerful as she was,
- 48:53or is perhaps more powerful as she's continued to age.
- 48:57It seems like as the more her fame and notoriety grows, the
- 49:01more visitors she has, the stronger she becomes.
- 49:06She continues to invade the dreams of those who come to
- 49:09visit her, and her hair is growing faster and more frayed.
- 49:15She's said to drive Taurus mad who doubt her, with many people
- 49:19even reporting that besides seeing her strange hair and
- 49:23feeling a malevolent presence when visiting her, they've also
- 49:26had her stalk and appear in their dreams.
- 49:30Some more disturbing and recent reports have even suggested that
- 49:34her mouth is slowly opening and that if you dare to appear
- 49:37inside of it, you may just catch a glimpse of baby like teeth
- 49:42sprouting from her porcelain gums.
- 49:45As if whoever or whatever she is is slowly turning to flesh and
- 49:52bone. The paranormal displays of her
- 49:55power continue to occur as well. Her permanent home, located
- 49:59within the menaging temple, is her own private shrine where she
- 50:03sits in a small wooden box on display.
- 50:06It is here that she watches and waits for anyone and everyone
- 50:12who dares to play with fire and invoke the power of the entity
- 50:17known as a Kiku. But what are your thoughts?
- 50:21Was a Kiku the girl trapped inside of the doll?
- 50:24In my opinion, although her spirit would be much older now,
- 50:29at the time of her death she was either close to or was three
- 50:33years old, and no person at that age is capable of true malice to
- 50:38the point to where she would become aware enough to begin to
- 50:41blame her parents and then torment them for decades to come
- 50:45as children. Our parents, or our family, or
- 50:49our entire world. So I find it incredibly
- 50:52difficult to think that these bizarre happenings were the
- 50:55result of her soul being restless and imbuing the doll.
- 51:00What I find more likely, and all the more interesting really, is
- 51:04the thought of invocation or the imbuing of the doll.
- 51:08Like a conduit or a vessel of sorts.
- 51:11Akiku, the girl was, as they said, inseparable from this
- 51:15doll. She fed it, bathed it, took naps
- 51:19with it, and everything else a small child would do with that
- 51:22wonderful imagination that they have.
- 51:25But could all of this dedication and focus accompanied with the
- 51:29tragedy that took place allow for a portal to open for an
- 51:33entity, whether non human or a restless human spirit to inhabit
- 51:38the doll? And by non human I mean a demon.
- 51:43This would make sense to me. Something that enjoys and grows
- 51:47more powerful off of pain and misfortune or the emotional
- 51:50torment of others. As it causes the pain, it feeds
- 51:54off of it and grows ever stronger.
- 51:57This would not only explain the malevolent manifestations of
- 52:00whatever entity is present, but would also explain the still
- 52:04present force and the alleged ever growing power of it.
- 52:09And depending on the entity's strength, it could also explain
- 52:12why the cleansings thus far have failed.
- 52:15However, if you find yourself taking a trip to Japan anytime
- 52:19soon, or you happen to call Japan home if you find yourself
- 52:24in Hokkaido, you may want to steer clear of the Menajin
- 52:27Temple. Because if you don't, the entity
- 52:31that inhabits the doll known as a Kiku may just use you as its
- 52:36next feeding source, where it'll begin to plague your dreams,
- 52:41making you twist and turn, sweat and fear.
- 52:47As it grows ever stronger and attempts to cross from its world
- 52:52into ours, making our plane of existence its permanent
- 52:57residence. An unsuspecting family finds
- 53:01what they believe to be the perfect home.
- 53:04But underneath the facade of this charming farmhouse, there
- 53:08is a sinister force, dark as the abyss.
- 53:12Lying underneath the heavy fog upon the land, there lies
- 53:16generations of graves. These graves could hold the key
- 53:21to solving their paranormal nightmare.
- 53:25This is the untold story of the old Arnold Estate, also known as
- 53:30The Conjuring House, and the demonic forces that dwell within
- 53:35it. Harrisville, RI A small town
- 53:54located on America's East Coast with just a population of an
- 53:58estimated 1800 people. Like many towns across the
- 54:02country, you could easily overlook this one at face value.
- 54:07But it's when we take a deeper look, we discover that this
- 54:11little town has a dark history. Its story is filled with death,
- 54:17from murders to drownings and much more.
- 54:21With all these unfortunate happenings in mind, it makes one
- 54:25beg the question, could there be something evil that stalks this
- 54:29place? Something that feeds upon
- 54:32suffering and misery? Perhaps there is, and perhaps
- 54:36that is what contributed to the creation of the following story.
- 54:42It all starts in Central Falls, RI in 1970, where the Peron
- 54:48family, which consisted of mother Carolyn, father Roger,
- 54:53and their five daughters Andrea, Nancy, Christine, Cynthia and
- 54:59April, we're all living a relatively normal life.
- 55:04Among things like school, work and outdoor play.
- 55:09Nothing seemed quite out of the ordinary, yet the children had
- 55:15been gifted a puppy with an exceptionally unique personality
- 55:19and out of the ether. A name came to mind when they
- 55:22were naming her Bathsheba. A unique dog with a unique name.
- 55:29She was fond of all the children, but especially Andrea,
- 55:34Now 10 years old. She would often take Bathsheba
- 55:37for walks around their suburban neighborhood.
- 55:41However, on one of those walks, tragedy would strike and would
- 55:46seemingly set in motion a snowball effect that would
- 55:49follow the family for years to come.
- 55:53While Andrea had the puppy out in the neighborhood, her sisters
- 55:57had come up from playing outside and decided to make the walk a
- 56:01group activity. All seemed fine until a car full
- 56:05of teenagers drove by at an incredibly high rate of speed.
- 56:10They seemed to be yelling something in unison and had
- 56:13brightly colored tassels hanging out of their windows.
- 56:18Bathsheba was an obedient dog, but the flailing and bright
- 56:21colored streamers caught her attention and in an instant she
- 56:26broke loose from Andrea and bolted towards the vehicle.
- 56:31The shocked girls then watched the car miss her by mere inches
- 56:35as she made her way safely across the road.
- 56:39But being the good dog that she was, upon hearing Andrea call
- 56:43out to her again, she began to run back to them and in the
- 56:47blink of an eye, she was struck by another vehicle, an elderly
- 56:53couple that never even saw her. Her leash had gotten caught
- 56:57around one of the wheels of their car when they hit her and
- 57:00she was suffering immensely. A nearby neighbor called the
- 57:05police, and upon removing the children from the scene, they
- 57:09were traumatized further as they heard the gunshot that ended the
- 57:13poor animal's life. The entire family now held a
- 57:18deep despair at the tragedy that had taken place.
- 57:21She wasn't just a pet, she was a member of the family, and there
- 57:26was now an unspoken pain that haunted them.
- 57:30The family had planned a vacation months prior and hoped
- 57:33that a break from their normal routine would help everyone.
- 57:37So they went and soon some of their sadness turned to joy as
- 57:43the family experienced hotel swimming pools, ice cream and
- 57:48shopping. But this joy would too be short
- 57:51lived. The family also had four cats
- 57:56and upon returning to their home with this newfound sense of
- 57:59well-being, they would endure even more trauma.
- 58:04They would discover that almost all of their cats had been
- 58:07viciously killed by neighborhood kids while they were gone.
- 58:12Several had every bone in their bodies broken with a baseball
- 58:16bat. Upon this horrific discovery,
- 58:20their father, Roger, rushed inside the house to call the
- 58:23police, only to find their home absolutely ransacked as well.
- 58:29Furniture was upside down, mirrors and windows broken, all
- 58:34of their provisions left to spoil from their tipped over
- 58:38fridge, and their carpet was doused in motor oil.
- 58:43It would later be discovered that two of their cats were
- 58:45killed by the group of the kids. One would never be seen again
- 58:50and the other had been seriously beaten but would survive.
- 58:55Although the neighborhood was known for angsty teenagers and
- 58:58roughhousing kids, the family wondered how could these kids
- 59:03conduct such evil? Did the devil's foot soldiers
- 59:07know no bounds? A police report was filed and it
- 59:11was shortly uncovered that the demon seed who had LED these
- 59:14awful actions was their 12 year old neighbor.
- 59:18The young man was seemingly a born criminal.
- 59:22Upon being confronted, the boy's mother covered for her son, and
- 59:26despite their best efforts, due to lack of evidence, nothing
- 59:30much would come of the report with the police, but Andrea
- 59:35would have her revenge. She had yet to come to terms
- 59:39with her precious Bathsheba's death, and now this, the rage
- 59:43inside of her built. After some thorough planning,
- 59:48she attacked the boy who was responsible, beating him
- 59:52ferociously, breaking his nose, blackening his eyes until she
- 59:58was pried off by a nearby neighbor.
- 1:00:00And told to go home. All this wouldn't bring her
- 1:00:04animals back, but it felt justified to the young girl
- 1:00:08given what the boy had done. But these antics of sadness,
- 1:00:12hostility, and rage would soon manifest into something much
- 1:00:17darker. Ever since their home was
- 1:00:20ransacked, Carolyn had wanted to move, but knowing they weren't
- 1:00:25in a financial state to do so, they had little to no choice
- 1:00:30other than to stay. So she kept an ever watchful eye
- 1:00:34on her children, letting them out of the house rarely and
- 1:00:38mostly under her supervision. Given the prior events, she
- 1:00:42wanted them raised by wild nature, not wild beasts.
- 1:00:47Shortly after this time, Rodger had prepared to depart for a
- 1:00:51business trip which was to last several days.
- 1:00:55Even amidst the turmoil of the current events, he still had to
- 1:00:59provide for his large family. And while his family was just
- 1:01:03waking up that morning, as he and his wife Carolyn enjoyed
- 1:01:06their morning cup of coffee, they were suddenly startled by
- 1:01:11the sound of a large explosion in their front yard, like
- 1:01:15someone had fired a cannon towards their house.
- 1:01:19Alarmed, they raced outside to discover what had happened.
- 1:01:24Shortly after purchasing their humble home, Carolyn had built a
- 1:01:28rock garden of sorts at the entrance of their driveway.
- 1:01:33Her friends often teased her that it's centerpiece resembled
- 1:01:36a tombstone without the inscription of the dearly
- 1:01:40departed. Well to the family shock, their
- 1:01:44neighbor from across the street had started his truck that
- 1:01:47morning and had suffered a major heart attack and had died at the
- 1:01:52wheel, his foot pressing down on the gas causing the truck to
- 1:01:56barrel directly at the parents home to smash right into that
- 1:02:01large rock. It was almost like something was
- 1:02:04following them, like a living breathing Organism feeding upon
- 1:02:10it. After this horrible event people
- 1:02:13began to refer to the rock garden as the graveyard.
- 1:02:19Missus Curtis, the wife of the neighbor who had passed away,
- 1:02:23upon being greeted and offered condolences by the family,
- 1:02:27actually blamed them for what had happened, declaring that
- 1:02:31Carolyn never liked them anyway and was a witch.
- 1:02:35That was enough for her. Again, she begged Roger to move,
- 1:02:40but they were seemingly stuck given the awful circumstances.
- 1:02:45The man still had to work, so he departed for his business trip.
- 1:02:51While her husband was gone, it was up to Carolyn to take care
- 1:02:55of their five children. This meant taking them to and
- 1:02:58from school, as well as music lessons and much more.
- 1:03:03While attending her daughter Andrea's music lessons, she had
- 1:03:07forgotten to bring a book to help her pass the time, so
- 1:03:10Carolyn went and purchased a paper as a substitute.
- 1:03:14Before too long she found herself daydreaming and looking
- 1:03:18through the various ads and real estate available, wanting and
- 1:03:22wishing that she could change their current predicament when
- 1:03:26strangely enough, the universe seemed to glance back at her.
- 1:03:31Hidden among many other homes was a nine bedroom farmhouse
- 1:03:35with a barn, lots of land and seclusion.
- 1:03:40It's beautiful design and elegance soon had Carolyn
- 1:03:43imagining her children playing and being raised in nature as
- 1:03:47she wanted that she could allow them to do so without the fear
- 1:03:51of other children attempting to harm them.
- 1:03:54She almost immediately became obsessed with the idea of
- 1:03:57purchasing the house and although the family really
- 1:04:01couldn't afford it at the time without seeking Roger's
- 1:04:04permission, she made a call and went to look at the old Arnold
- 1:04:09State the following day. The owner was a very nice old
- 1:04:13lady, and although she didn't have much, Carolyn asked how
- 1:04:17much she would have to put down to hold the home so she could
- 1:04:21purchase it once her husband had returned.
- 1:04:24An agreement of $500 as a good faith payment was made, and
- 1:04:29shortly after Roger arrived back home several days later, he was
- 1:04:33sideswiped by his wife's decision, although his anger
- 1:04:38would soon turn to understanding.
- 1:04:41After all, a happy wife makes for a happy life, as most would
- 1:04:46say. Even though he didn't know
- 1:04:48exactly how they would make it work, he decided to placate his
- 1:04:52wife and allow them to purchase the home.
- 1:04:56It took some time, but before too long they found themselves
- 1:05:00packing and coming into possession of the keys to their
- 1:05:03future. Although they couldn't foresee
- 1:05:06just how dark of the future it was to be the parent family,
- 1:05:14having seemingly found the home of their dreams located on a
- 1:05:18large swath of land outside of the town of Harrisville, RI,
- 1:05:23what would become known as the Old Arnold Estate almost seemed
- 1:05:27to perfect like an answer to their desperate prayers.
- 1:05:32It's a large farmhouse which has 9 bedrooms, a barn, and plenty
- 1:05:38of land which they can envision their children playing on and
- 1:05:42having a wonderful time. Although it's winter, they go
- 1:05:46ahead and begin to move into their new house.
- 1:05:50There's a massive snowstorm taking place while they're
- 1:05:53moving in, but this doesn't deter the large family from
- 1:05:56getting settled in to what they believe is going to be a
- 1:06:00charming, nice and new home for all of them.
- 1:06:04Given everything they've been through, I would have hoped for
- 1:06:07the same. And for the first three months,
- 1:06:10things are charming, nice and normal.
- 1:06:14Their rustic farmhouse has its challenges with it being fairly
- 1:06:18old, such as being very cold that winter, but it's nothing
- 1:06:23they can't deal with, or so they think.
- 1:06:28All around, the feeling is a happy one for the family.
- 1:06:31But this happy mood would soon change.
- 1:06:35Upon meeting their nearest neighbors, they seemed rather
- 1:06:39strange. They offered one piece of advice
- 1:06:42to Roger and Carolyn. For the love of your family,
- 1:06:46keep the lights on at night. Originally written off by the
- 1:06:50couple, these words would seem to be rather fitting
- 1:06:54foreshadowing for the events to come.
- 1:06:57When the frozen land of the farm began to thaw, it seemed like
- 1:07:01something thawed along with it and began to plague them once
- 1:07:05again. One night when the daughters,
- 1:07:09Nancy and Andrea were asleep in their shared room, they're
- 1:07:13suddenly woken up by the sound of their doors slamming open and
- 1:07:17closed, open and closed. Petrified by the noise of the
- 1:07:22doors smacking the wall and it also being their only way out of
- 1:07:26the room, they ran towards the door to try and escape when
- 1:07:31suddenly it stopped moving and just stayed open, still creaking
- 1:07:37from being moved. Catching their breath and trying
- 1:07:42to come to terms with what had just happened, Thinking by this
- 1:07:46point maybe one of their other sisters was trying to play a
- 1:07:49prank on them, the 2 girls looked down the hall and
- 1:07:53eventually made their way to their other sisters rooms where
- 1:07:56they found them asleep. Needless to say they wouldn't
- 1:08:01sleep for the rest of the night. They would bring this to the
- 1:08:04attention of their parents the following morning, but were
- 1:08:08quickly dismissed, as is often the case, and told that they had
- 1:08:13overactive imaginations. From here, things started small
- 1:08:18but became very noticeable as they mushroomed into much bigger
- 1:08:22experiences. At first, whatever spirits they
- 1:08:26believed could be in the house seemed benevolent, almost
- 1:08:31good-natured, with some of the younger siblings later stating
- 1:08:35that they would even be tucked into bed by the spirit of a
- 1:08:37woman on occasion, but that was all too short lived.
- 1:08:42Items soon began to go missing. Car keys weren't where they had
- 1:08:46been hung daily. Items such as mugs, toys, and
- 1:08:51utensils were soon disappearing as well.
- 1:08:55Carolyn would hear the scraping of a broom upon the floor or the
- 1:08:59knocking of a kettle in the kitchen when no one else was
- 1:09:02home but her. With this, upon cleaning the
- 1:09:06floors, she would also find piles of dirt that would appear
- 1:09:10out of nowhere, making her feel as if she was going crazy.
- 1:09:15But these small happenings too would soon become larger.
- 1:09:20The children would often play a game called Hide and Clap, a
- 1:09:24version of hide and go Seek. This time, Andrea was the seeker
- 1:09:29and her sisters went off hiding throughout the estate.
- 1:09:32Cindy made her way into the woodshed, found a small box just
- 1:09:36big enough for her to get inside.
- 1:09:38Being determined to win, she climbed into the box and slid
- 1:09:42the small lid over the top, figuring this would be an
- 1:09:46excellent hiding place indeed. And after several minutes, she
- 1:09:51realized that no one was coming for her and went to remove the
- 1:09:54lid. Except it wouldn't budget.
- 1:09:58Panicking and utter darkness, she used all means necessary to
- 1:10:03try and remove the lid and free herself.
- 1:10:07After screaming and worrying that she'd suffocate inside this
- 1:10:10box, she was thankfully found by Andrea, who slid the lid off no
- 1:10:16problem, revealed her horribly distressed younger sister
- 1:10:20inside. It's important to note that this
- 1:10:23was a sliding cover. There was no locking mechanism.
- 1:10:28Along with this terrifying event, the children's rooms were
- 1:10:32often rearranged daily. They would leave their things
- 1:10:35one way in the morning and return to things either
- 1:10:39completely a mess, as if a small cyclone had hit their rooms, or
- 1:10:43all items would be smashed underneath their beds.
- 1:10:47And this happened to all of the girls at one point or another.
- 1:10:52These small whispers, bangings and movements did indeed become
- 1:10:57larger. Andrea, being the oldest, would
- 1:11:01often be woken up by her younger siblings and would hold them as
- 1:11:05they sobbed their eyes out, terrified to return to their
- 1:11:09rooms. Cindy, in particular, began to
- 1:11:12hear a sinister voice call out to her almost every night.
- 1:11:17The voice would tell her that there were seven dead soldiers
- 1:11:20in the walls and would repeat it over and over and over again.
- 1:11:28The children, now terrified, begged their parents to believe
- 1:11:32them, and although they too were beginning to experience things
- 1:11:36on their own, they didn't want to frighten the children, so
- 1:11:40they did what could be done to placate them.
- 1:11:44But soon the entire family began to hear the wails of something
- 1:11:48inhuman calling out for its mother.
- 1:11:52This disturbing trend with no origin was followed by even more
- 1:11:56disturbing happenings. The beds of the girls would lift
- 1:12:00up and shake by an unseen force, almost always around 5:15 AM, as
- 1:12:08if something was trying to send some kind of a message, although
- 1:12:12it was never clear just what that message was supposed to be.
- 1:12:17During the day, the apparitions of spirits began to manifest and
- 1:12:22stalk the halls of the old Arnold estate.
- 1:12:25These were soon coupled by the horrible stench of rotting flesh
- 1:12:29wafting throughout the house. Soon the girls weren't the only
- 1:12:34ones whose doors were slamming open and closed and whose beds
- 1:12:39were lifting up on their own. Soon it was affecting their
- 1:12:43parents as well. One night, Carolyn woke up
- 1:12:47suddenly to the figure of an old woman over the foot of her bed.
- 1:12:51Her hair was like a sack of cobwebs, with little tendrils
- 1:12:55hanging off. The woman's head was also bent
- 1:12:59and hanging off to the side of her neck, as if it was horribly
- 1:13:03broken and mangled. Her gnarled mouth screaming at
- 1:13:07her with an echoing voice. Get out, She shouted over and
- 1:13:13over again until she suddenly is no longer there.
- 1:13:19The parent family continue to endure a living nightmare as the
- 1:13:23traumatic paranormal activity persisted and continue to scale
- 1:13:28in intensity. How does one fight an enemy he
- 1:13:34can't see? Something he can't touch or
- 1:13:37feel, attack or defend against? This question and more must have
- 1:13:44ran through the heads of Rodger and Carolyn as they not only
- 1:13:47feared for themselves, but especially their children.
- 1:13:51Now as their offspring's natural protectors.
- 1:13:55How anxiety inducing must it have been to know that they were
- 1:13:59powerless to stop what was terrorizing all of them each and
- 1:14:04every night. In an effort to try and
- 1:14:07understand what was happening to them, Carolyn began to research
- 1:14:11the history of their house and was shocked by what she found.
- 1:14:17Over 8 generations of the Arnold family had lived and died within
- 1:14:21the home, some by horrible means, according to the Black
- 1:14:27Book of Burlville, the town's former public records book.
- 1:14:32These included two suicides by hanging, one within the family
- 1:14:36barn, one by poison, the assault and murder of a young girl named
- 1:14:42Prudence Arnold by a farm hint, 2 drownings in the nearby Creek,
- 1:14:48and four men who froze to death. Among some of the notable
- 1:14:52deaths, one death that caught her eye in particular was that
- 1:14:58of a woman named Bathsheba Sherman.
- 1:15:02Her name was spelled exactly like their dog that they had
- 1:15:04previously owned, and her story was as interesting as it was
- 1:15:10disturbing. Born Bathsheba there in 1812,
- 1:15:15she married fellow Rhode Islander Judson Sherman and
- 1:15:19Thompson, CT on March 10th, 1844.
- 1:15:25According to available information from that time, the
- 1:15:28two had a son named Herbert, and for all intents and purposes,
- 1:15:33things seemed normal. But that couldn't be further
- 1:15:36from the truth. After losing three children
- 1:15:39before the age of 7, Bathsheba began to care for her neighbor's
- 1:15:43children, perhaps to fill the void that such sorrow could
- 1:15:47create. And it's here where things take
- 1:15:50a strange turn. While caring for the infant of a
- 1:15:54nearby family, the infant suddenly passed away within
- 1:15:58Bathsheba's care. An investigation ensued and it
- 1:16:03was found that the child had a puncture wound in its skull, as
- 1:16:07if someone had taken a large sewing needle and sent it
- 1:16:11through the child's head. Rumors of devil worship and
- 1:16:15witchcraft soon became rife, with many believing she had
- 1:16:21indeed sacrificed her children to Satan, robbing them of their
- 1:16:25young lives. Although Bathsheba was never
- 1:16:28punished for the child's death since there was never a trial,
- 1:16:33that didn't stop her behavior from becoming increasingly
- 1:16:36bizarre. She became incredibly reclusive,
- 1:16:40strange and dark. Rumors say that she supposedly
- 1:16:46attempted to murder other children while confessing her
- 1:16:50love for Satan before she then climbed atop the highest tree on
- 1:16:54the estate, cursing everyone before hanging herself.
- 1:17:00And although that would make for a much more fascinating story,
- 1:17:04it doesn't seem to be true. The rumors may indeed have been
- 1:17:07spread and they're evidence of multiple child deaths, including
- 1:17:12the infant via needle like object, but her tombstone reads
- 1:17:16her death date as May 25th, 1885 S Odds are that she passed away
- 1:17:23as an old woman, but perhaps given the circumstances, she
- 1:17:28became more bitter with age. Another strange detail that was
- 1:17:32uncovered was one of the hanging deaths that took place within
- 1:17:36the barn on the estate. It was that of Catherine Arnold.
- 1:17:42She had, seemingly out of the blue one day, made her way from
- 1:17:45the house to the barn, gathered a rope, and hung herself from
- 1:17:51the rafters. She was frozen solid.
- 1:17:55When she was later discovered. It seemed like whatever
- 1:17:59paranormal force that stalked the land tormented the
- 1:18:03matriarchs of the families that lived there and fed upon death
- 1:18:07itself. These supernatural occurrences
- 1:18:11that now plagued the Perron family were a daily occurrence,
- 1:18:16and they soon also began to physically touch the family as
- 1:18:19well. Poking soon turned to pushing, a
- 1:18:24hand on the shoulder soon turned to slapping, scratching, and
- 1:18:29more. One day when Carolyn was reading
- 1:18:33a book in the living room, she felt a piercing pain in her
- 1:18:36calf. Upon further examination, she
- 1:18:41saw what appeared to be a puncture wound, like that of a
- 1:18:44needle, with a small dribble of blood now coming out of her leg.
- 1:18:49These attacks didn't stop here. Carolyn soon believed that it
- 1:18:55was Bathsheba who was causing the majority of her problems.
- 1:18:59The spirit seemed to hide her things daily, making her feel as
- 1:19:03if she was going insane while simultaneously lusting after her
- 1:19:08husband. In later interviews, Roger would
- 1:19:12state that he never felt threatened by her spirit and
- 1:19:15that he only ever saw her sweeter side, such as comforting
- 1:19:19touches and the feeling of an embrace.
- 1:19:23To the contrary, his poor wife experienced much, much worse.
- 1:19:29Andrea Peron also in later interviews, said that the whole
- 1:19:33family believed it was the spirit of Bathsheba who was
- 1:19:37mostly tormenting Carolyn, as if she saw herself as the matriarch
- 1:19:42or the mistress of the house, and that Carolyn was some kind
- 1:19:46of competition, an obstacle between her and Roger's
- 1:19:51affection. On the verge of losing her mind
- 1:19:55and being tortured daily, the family was barely holding things
- 1:19:59together, most of all Carolyn. She had vented to a friend of
- 1:20:05hers named Barbara about what she had been going through, and
- 1:20:09strangely enough. This friend just so happened to
- 1:20:12attend a lecture that was being given by renowned paranormal
- 1:20:16scholars and demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren.
- 1:20:21It was Barbara that actually told the Warrens about the
- 1:20:24parents and their struggles. Intrigued, they were put into
- 1:20:29mutual contact with one another, and before too long, the Warrens
- 1:20:34arrived at the front door of the old Arnold Estate.
- 1:20:39Upon stepping into the home for the first time, Lorraine Warren
- 1:20:43noticed a heavy and malevolent presence.
- 1:20:47Upon further convening over the course of several weeks, the
- 1:20:51couple told the family that they indeed were being haunted by the
- 1:20:55spirit of Bathsheba and that she had made a pact with Satan
- 1:20:59himself after sacrificing one of her children to him.
- 1:21:04She then hung herself on the property in order to haunt it
- 1:21:08forever. This is why the family was often
- 1:21:11seeing the mangled necked apparition of the woman with
- 1:21:14wispy hair. This was apparently her.
- 1:21:19Over the course of several months, the Warrens would visit
- 1:21:22the old Arnold estate in order to try and assist the family
- 1:21:26with riding themselves of the spirits, but it was all to no
- 1:21:30avail. All of these events seem to
- 1:21:33culminate with a Seance 1 stormy night.
- 1:21:36The Perrons, Roger and Carolyn, along with the Warrens were
- 1:21:41joined by a priest and a fellow medium to conduct a seance to
- 1:21:47try and establish further contact with the entities within
- 1:21:50the home to understand just why they were plaguing the family.
- 1:21:55The girls were confined to their rooms upstairs and were not
- 1:21:59allowed to partake in the ritual.
- 1:22:02The ritual was conducted in the basement, one of the alleged
- 1:22:05sources of the dark energy according to Lorraine Warren,
- 1:22:10and in the middle of this ritual, Carolyn seemingly became
- 1:22:13possessed as she exhibited violent behavior.
- 1:22:18She was restrained to a chair in order to prevent her from
- 1:22:21hurting herself and others. The entity that now inhabited
- 1:22:25her body claimed to be that of Bathsheba and before everyone's
- 1:22:31eyes that was present, Carolyn began to not only speak a
- 1:22:34language that was unrecognizable, but in a voice
- 1:22:38that wasn't her own. She then began to levitate in
- 1:22:42the chair and flew across the room.
- 1:22:47Although they were forbid to witness the event, as curious
- 1:22:50children often do, Andrea, along with her sister Cindy, snuck
- 1:22:55open the basement door and watched the events unfold for
- 1:22:58themselves. Their testimonies are also where
- 1:23:02some of these details are sourced from.
- 1:23:05Carolyn was now mangled and distorted, her body twisted in
- 1:23:11an unnatural position. After several hours of
- 1:23:15attempting to cast the spirit out, she finally went limp and
- 1:23:20lay catatonic on the floor. After his wife had seemingly
- 1:23:25been freed, Roger called the entire thing off.
- 1:23:30He was not only concerned for his wife's well-being, but his
- 1:23:33children's as well. And although the Warrens were
- 1:23:36trying to help, things just seemed to get so much worse when
- 1:23:40they were there. So disregarding their advice, he
- 1:23:45threw them out and forbid them and their associates from ever
- 1:23:49investigating the hauntings at the old Arnold estate ever
- 1:23:53again. Later in life, a 77 year old
- 1:23:57Roger would recall she was possessed, her entire body was
- 1:24:02distorted and it lasted several hours until they de demonized
- 1:24:08her. Then I threw them out.
- 1:24:11I couldn't take it anymore. The family's torment would
- 1:24:15continue with varying intensity until 1980, when they were
- 1:24:20finally able to sell the old Arnold Estate and move to
- 1:24:23Georgia and a bid to rebuild their lives.
- 1:24:27Finally, they were free of the horrible events that had plagued
- 1:24:31them for nearly a decade. But all those happenings, all
- 1:24:35those traumatic moments would never be forgotten by any of
- 1:24:40them. They all realized that they were
- 1:24:42truly lucky to have escaped with their lives as well as their
- 1:24:46sanity. Going back and not only reading
- 1:24:50various interviews, Andrea Peron's books, and watching
- 1:24:54interviews with the family, they not only seemed genuine but
- 1:24:58really had nothing to gain by claiming to have experienced
- 1:25:01these things. They truly seemed like they had
- 1:25:04suffered. I mean, they threw out the
- 1:25:06Warrens, which is interesting in and of itself, but if I saw my
- 1:25:11wife twisted and exhibiting demonic behavior, I probably
- 1:25:15would be pretty freaked out as well.
- 1:25:18The story of the haunting of the old Arnold Estate and the Peron
- 1:25:21family was used as the basis for The Conjuring movie, in which
- 1:25:25they were also used as consultants for accuracy's sake.
- 1:25:30And the film does of course take liberties, as most Hollywood
- 1:25:34films do, but it's a good one for sure.
- 1:25:37But having watched this video, you're now probably aware of
- 1:25:40what really happened. Since the selling of the home,
- 1:25:44reviews have been mixed by other residents, with one lady
- 1:25:48claiming that the home wasn't haunted at all and even
- 1:25:51condemning and suing The Conjuring film makers for
- 1:25:54causing her distress through trespassers, and others stating
- 1:25:58that the home is still very well haunted indeed.
- 1:26:02More current owners, who we'll call Corey and Jennifer,
- 1:26:06welcomed the spirits and the history of the home when they
- 1:26:09moved in, claiming to have only slept in the smaller wing of the
- 1:26:13estate for the first four months that they lived there.
- 1:26:16They didn't want to overstep their boundaries with whatever
- 1:26:19was haunting the property. When they finally opened up the
- 1:26:23door to the wing of the larger part of the house the very same
- 1:26:27night, they both claimed to be woken up by a shadowy figure.
- 1:26:31Their couple would say that it was pitch black in color and
- 1:26:34peeking at them from behind the door frame.
- 1:26:38Although most people would be terrified at the prospect of
- 1:26:41dealing with a shadow figure of any sort, the couple understood
- 1:26:45that they were guests in this home even though they had
- 1:26:48purchased it. And we're just excited to have
- 1:26:51experienced anything. But they also admit that
- 1:26:54although they do continue to experience strange things from
- 1:26:57time to time, it's nothing like what the Perrons say.
- 1:27:01They experienced nothing quite as malevolent or evil by any
- 1:27:06means. Despite criticism and support,
- 1:27:11the Perrons to this day remain adamant that their story is
- 1:27:14true, with Andrea saying in an interview with USA TODAY.
- 1:27:19Both my mother and I would soon swallow our tongue and tell a
- 1:27:22lie. People are free to believe
- 1:27:25whatever they want, but we know what we've experienced prior to
- 1:27:30her death. When asked about the events of
- 1:27:32the Haunting Lorraine, Warren claimed that she still felt
- 1:27:36traumatized all these years later about what had taken place
- 1:27:39that stormy night during the seance at the Old Arnold Estate,
- 1:27:44saying that the things that happened there were so
- 1:27:47incredibly frightening that it still effects me to talk about
- 1:27:50it to this day. She, of course, was reunited
- 1:27:53with Ed on April 18th of 2019. God rest her soul.
- 1:28:00These days, people who have visited the house, such as
- 1:28:03various paranormal groups, researchers and fans of The
- 1:28:07Conjuring Universe, have described feeling multiple
- 1:28:10things for stepping in the home. Some claiming to see shadow
- 1:28:14figures, others a feeling of a heavy presence to the points
- 1:28:19where it makes them nauseous. And regardless, there certainly
- 1:28:23does seem to be something there all around.
- 1:28:27I think the haunting, given all the research I've done is more
- 1:28:31than likely legitimate. There's too many sources backing
- 1:28:34up what took place. Not to mention the family didn't
- 1:28:38gain anything from experiencing what they did, and surviving
- 1:28:42members still claim it's all true to this day.
- 1:28:45If you'd like to learn more, I'm listing the sources I used for
- 1:28:49research in the description below, as well as various links
- 1:28:53to Andrea Peron's books which tell the full story of her and
- 1:28:57her family. I of course, am not affiliated
- 1:29:00with her or anyone else involved in any way.
- 1:29:04I just find them to be an interesting and very useful
- 1:29:06resource. So if you find yourself in hard
- 1:29:10times and are presented with what seems like a gift from the
- 1:29:14universe, just know that if it's too good to be true, it probably
- 1:29:19is. And the dream home that you
- 1:29:21can't wait to live in could be infested with generations of
- 1:29:27death and despair demons which could still be lurking and
- 1:29:32stalking the property. So my advice?
- 1:29:36If it sounds too good to be true, it is.
- 1:29:40And please research a home's history before you buy it, or
- 1:29:45you may be stuck with a decade of paranormal torment.
- 1:29:49Or worse, you may become its newest permanent resident.
- 1:29:57Can death unleash something into this world that isn't supposed
- 1:30:02to be here? Could it act like a portal,
- 1:30:05allowing something sinister and dark to creep in just before it
- 1:30:09closes, especially if the person passing is harboring dark and
- 1:30:15abhorrent secrets? When a young man begins to
- 1:30:19exhibit strange and demonic behavior and the very laws of
- 1:30:23nature seem to bend to his will, can a reverend work to save his
- 1:30:28very soul? Documented by multiple law
- 1:30:31enforcement professionals as unexplained to this day, this is
- 1:30:36certainly not a story you will want to miss.
- 1:30:39This is the untold story of Don Decker, also known as the Rain
- 1:30:44Man of Pennsylvania. The date is February 24th, 1983
- 1:30:55and on this cold, misty day, a family is mourning the loss of
- 1:31:00their loved 1A man by the name of James Keshaw.
- 1:31:07After battling alcoholism for many years, the bottle finally
- 1:31:11took its toll and caused cirrhosis of the liver which
- 1:31:15became fatal. Among the pews of friends and
- 1:31:19family paying their respects sits a young man, the grandson
- 1:31:24of James, 21 year old Don Decker.
- 1:31:28Donna Be granted furlough from his four to 12 month jail
- 1:31:32sentence for receiving stolen property in order to attend the
- 1:31:37funeral. But as he sat facing the body of
- 1:31:40his grandfather as others paid their last respects and gave
- 1:31:45glowing speeches about the man, Don clenched his fists.
- 1:31:51Only he harbored a dark secret that no one else knew, and this
- 1:31:55secret is perhaps what contributed to his troubled
- 1:31:59adolescence. When it was his turn to walk up
- 1:32:03and say goodbye to James. As he stood over his body, the
- 1:32:08face of evil looked back at him with eyes closed for the first
- 1:32:13time. Dom would later say it felt like
- 1:32:17good triumphing over evil that day.
- 1:32:20And I truly felt like everything was going to get better, like it
- 1:32:24was a turning point in my life. The secret that he had been
- 1:32:29holding on to for so long was that James, his very own
- 1:32:33grandfather, had abused him from the time he was seven years old
- 1:32:38until he was a teenager and no one else knew.
- 1:32:42All the years of pain and fear were caused by that man.
- 1:32:47The very same that now laid in the coffin.
- 1:32:50The very same that Dawn was now having to hear others praise and
- 1:32:55who he was publicly obligated to mourn.
- 1:33:00At the conclusion of the funeral, when James casket was
- 1:33:03laid into its final resting place, he couldn't stand the way
- 1:33:07his parents had glorified the man's memory.
- 1:33:10But given the circumstances he was in, furloughed from jail and
- 1:33:15with emotions raw amongst everybody, he decided it would
- 1:33:18be for the best to go and stay the night with some family
- 1:33:22friends instead before he was set to return to finish out his
- 1:33:26sentence. Bob and Jeannie Kiefer were
- 1:33:29longtime friends of the family and were quite fond of Dawn, so
- 1:33:34they were more than happy to have him join them for the
- 1:33:37night. As the night progressed, the
- 1:33:40three of them were enjoying each other's company, but it seemed
- 1:33:44like all the feelings that had been stirred up from the
- 1:33:46memories of his grandfather's abuse at the funeral were coming
- 1:33:50back to haunt Dawn. He fell on edge and uneasy when
- 1:33:56suddenly the air around him vibrated with a bone deep chill.
- 1:34:02Almost simultaneously after this occurred, water began to drip
- 1:34:06from the ceiling and down the living room walls.
- 1:34:10Don then fell into an eerie trance like state, staring at
- 1:34:14nothing and yet everything at the same time.
- 1:34:18The Kiefer's were perplexed at what was happening and tried
- 1:34:22examining all reasonable possibilities.
- 1:34:25Thinking they had a leak, they contacted their landlord, a man
- 1:34:29named Ron Van Wy. Upon arriving, Ron too quickly
- 1:34:34became perplexed. The leak, or so they thought,
- 1:34:39was obvious. But what was strange to him was
- 1:34:42that there was no piping that ran through the front part of
- 1:34:45the house. Certainly none that could spring
- 1:34:48a leak from the ceiling or the walls.
- 1:34:52None at all. On top of this strangeness, when
- 1:34:56observing the water's direction, Ron noticed that there was
- 1:35:00indeed no sense of direction. The water was not only coming
- 1:35:04from the top, down from the ceiling in the walls, but it was
- 1:35:08going from the floor and up the walls and direct contradiction
- 1:35:14to the laws of gravity and to anything that he had ever seen.
- 1:35:19Shocked and needing multiple witnesses to assure himself that
- 1:35:23he wasn't crazy, Ron phoned his wife Romaine to come and take a
- 1:35:27look as well. Upon her arrival, she was just
- 1:35:32as perplexed and became scared at what was happening since it
- 1:35:36defied all logic and the leak, or so they thought, only became
- 1:35:41worse. So the landlords did the only
- 1:35:44thing that they could do, they called the police.
- 1:35:48Shortly after that call, a patrol car arrived with Officer
- 1:35:52John Beaujin, who, after briefly stepping inside the home, became
- 1:35:57drenched in water and also witnessed the bizarre,
- 1:36:01otherworldly activity to which he had no explanation for
- 1:36:05either. So to prove his sanity and to
- 1:36:09back up a report, he called upon his partner, an officer named
- 1:36:14Richard Volbert. When Richard arrived, he wanted
- 1:36:18to be briefed on exactly what was going on, but Beaujan didn't
- 1:36:22want to give him any sort of a preconceived notion and just
- 1:36:26told him to trust him on this one.
- 1:36:29After some back and forth, Richard finally conceded and
- 1:36:32followed John into the key for residents he would later
- 1:36:36describe the incident as. So I walked in the door, I
- 1:36:41couldn't have gotten 2 steps in the door and I was pelted by
- 1:36:44water as we were discussing a potential leak and as we were
- 1:36:49being told that there were no pipes in that part of the house.
- 1:36:52As we stood just inside the house a droplet of water was
- 1:36:57traveling horizontally and passed right between US and out
- 1:37:02into the next room. As I retell this story I have a
- 1:37:06chill up my spine and the hair on my neck is standing up.
- 1:37:12John would go on to say things were happening in this house
- 1:37:15that I couldn't have ever possibly dreamed of happening
- 1:37:19and there was no way to explain what was going on.
- 1:37:22Shocked by what they were witnessing, the two officers
- 1:37:25asked the family to step outside of the house and out of the
- 1:37:29water while they left to report the incident to the chief
- 1:37:32himself. The Wise decided to stay at the
- 1:37:35property while the Kiefer's and Don walked across the street to
- 1:37:40a local restaurant for something to eat.
- 1:37:43Within seconds of everyone departing, the water suddenly
- 1:37:46stopped within the house, and aside from the home being
- 1:37:50drenched, it was back to normal. No more dripping water and no
- 1:37:55more mist. This left Ron and his wife, only
- 1:37:59to speculate that whatever was happening was coming from one of
- 1:38:03the three, because when they left, so did it.
- 1:38:08Pam Scrofano, who owned the pizzeria opposite the Kiefer's
- 1:38:11house where the three ended up in, was a friend of the Kiefer's
- 1:38:16and knew Dawn as well. Upon greeting the three of them,
- 1:38:20she noticed that Dawn was distant, like he was looking at
- 1:38:24you, but looking through you, a deeply religious woman.
- 1:38:29She sent something evil about him, like the devil was working
- 1:38:34through Dawn Decker and recommended that they contact
- 1:38:37someone at the church for help. Within mere seconds of
- 1:38:41mentioning this, droplets of water hit the table in front of
- 1:38:45them, and soon the very same phenomena that was originally
- 1:38:50happening in the house was also now taking place inside the
- 1:38:55pizzeria. Sensing this evil Pam ran to the
- 1:39:00cash register where she had an old cross necklace.
- 1:39:04She took it out and placed it around Don's neck.
- 1:39:08As soon as it touched his skin, he got burned.
- 1:39:12He began to scream and pull the necklace off of him.
- 1:39:16It was charred black. As the trio departed the
- 1:39:20pizzeria and headed back to their home, the strange activity
- 1:39:24inside once again ceased. It's important to note that
- 1:39:29nothing like this had ever happened at the Kiefer residence
- 1:39:32or Pam's Pizzeria. No plumbing issues, nothing that
- 1:39:37could be considered even remotely similar.
- 1:39:40Convening inside the home once again, they met Ron and his
- 1:39:43wife. Ron suspected that Don had
- 1:39:46something to do with what was happening, and after some
- 1:39:50discussion, an argument erupted among the group.
- 1:39:54This led to Jeannie screaming at Don, telling him that they knew
- 1:39:58it was him, that he had to make all of this stop.
- 1:40:02After the words left her mouth, the pots and pans above the
- 1:40:06stove began to shake, and the lights around them began to
- 1:40:11flicker. Don Decker.
- 1:40:14Was no longer in control of his body.
- 1:40:18Everyone watched in horror as Don levitated multiple feet into
- 1:40:23the air and rotated several times.
- 1:40:27He was then thrown out of the kitchen where they were and into
- 1:40:31an entirely different room. Don himself would later recount
- 1:40:35the event like this. It wasn't like someone grabbing
- 1:40:39your hand or picking you up. I felt this force over my entire
- 1:40:44body. I'm a big man and I've always
- 1:40:47been assertive, but this, whatever this was, made me feel
- 1:40:52like a newborn child. I'm scared right now just
- 1:40:56thinking about it. Dawn now laid unconscious on the
- 1:40:59floor and the rain began again. The wise and the kiefers were an
- 1:41:06absolute shock and disbelief at what had just taken place.
- 1:41:11They knew it was tied to dawn, but they had no idea just what
- 1:41:14it was, but they felt that it was evil.
- 1:41:19A few hours after the strange incident witnessed by the police
- 1:41:22officers, they arrived back at the residence alongside their
- 1:41:26very heated police chief. As he made his way into the home
- 1:41:30with the two officers behind him, he too was pelted with
- 1:41:33water just as they had been. Now first probably feeling like
- 1:41:38he was on the spot and perhaps slightly embarrassed, he claimed
- 1:41:42that this wasn't even a police issue, but a plumbing issue,
- 1:41:47despite then being told that there were no pipes in that part
- 1:41:50of the house, and this was even confirmed by blueprints of the
- 1:41:53home. After taking a look around at
- 1:41:56the rest of the home, which was bone dry, the chief then angrily
- 1:42:00ordered the two officers to escort him back home.
- 1:42:04He would be the only officer that night to not admit to
- 1:42:07anything strange happening. He then directed Officers John
- 1:42:12and Richard to not file a report and to not speak about the
- 1:42:15incident at all, but word would get out the following morning.
- 1:42:22Acting against the specific orders from their chief, the two
- 1:42:25officers returned to the residence along with three
- 1:42:28veteran officers as well. They too would see and
- 1:42:32experience the bizarre rain inside the home.
- 1:42:35So they decided to try something to attempt to get to the bottom
- 1:42:39of what exactly was going on. They asked if they could place a
- 1:42:43paper bag over Don's head, to which Don agreed.
- 1:42:47This was so he would have no way of seeing anything.
- 1:42:51He'd have no preconceived notions of what could be placed
- 1:42:54on him or in his hands. They then placed a gold cross
- 1:42:58necklace from one of the officers into his hand.
- 1:43:03Lieutenant William Davies, one of the officers present who
- 1:43:07placed the cross into his hand, described the incident like
- 1:43:11this. As soon as the necklace touched
- 1:43:14his palm, he said it burnt him. He would have had no idea what
- 1:43:19it was. I saw what I believe to be smoke
- 1:43:23of some sort coming from the necklace or his hand.
- 1:43:26As he dropped the necklace. I picked it up and it was hot.
- 1:43:31Not burning hot, but hot enough to concern me.
- 1:43:35Then suddenly with the force, as if a bus hit him, he lifted up
- 1:43:41and was thrown across the room, hitting the back wall.
- 1:43:45Upon removing the bag from him, he was clearly dazed and had
- 1:43:50three bloody and fresh claw marks across his neck.
- 1:43:54I've been a cop for 40 years and I've never ran into anything
- 1:43:59like this ever. Never before and never again
- 1:44:03after. There's always an explanation,
- 1:44:07but in this case there was no explanation.
- 1:44:12The police would later leave again with no answers as to what
- 1:44:16was taking place, believing it to be a spiritual matter.
- 1:44:20Don was placed on the couch in the living room where the rain
- 1:44:24continued to go from mist to showers at random and varying
- 1:44:29times. After making multiple desperate
- 1:44:33calls to every Protestant and Catholic religious leader in
- 1:44:36Shroudsburg, only one didn't turn them down.
- 1:44:40Ron was able to convince an evangelical preacher, who went
- 1:44:44by the name of Reverend Johnson, to come over and pray with Don.
- 1:44:49As she arrived and began to pray, the rest of the group held
- 1:44:53hands and vigil and did what they could to support her.
- 1:44:57As the first words left her lips, dawn began to convulse and
- 1:45:02shake. The rain intensified and his
- 1:45:06body began to twist into unnatural positions.
- 1:45:11But as she continued, he slowly but surely began to relax in the
- 1:45:17rain seemed to stop. Although those present believed
- 1:45:22that a miracle had been performed, the results of that
- 1:45:25prayer session would only prove temporary, perhaps placing into
- 1:45:30hibernation whatever was inside Don Decker.
- 1:45:35Once his furlough was over, Don Decker returned back to jail to
- 1:45:39finish his sentence and within just a few days the mysterious
- 1:45:44reign returned. Upon his return to jail, Don was
- 1:45:48placed in a cell with another inmate and had the thought enter
- 1:45:52his mind that if he could make it rain in the cell, perhaps he
- 1:45:56could get to be alone. Almost as soon as he thought
- 1:46:00that, the rain began. It was materializing out of the
- 1:46:05concrete floor and flowing upward.
- 1:46:09The other inmate was horrified and screamed for the guards to
- 1:46:13let him out. Thinking they had some kind of
- 1:46:15plumbing issue, the guards opened the cell and removed that
- 1:46:19inmate as well as Decker. At first he was accused of
- 1:46:24throwing water onto the walls from the sink or from the toilet
- 1:46:27by the guards, but upon these accusations Don rebuttal with I
- 1:46:33can control it. This time the feeling was
- 1:46:36different. This time he felt powerful and
- 1:46:39didn't control. Upon hearing this, the guard
- 1:46:43laughed and said if you can control this rain, make it rain
- 1:46:47in the warden's office. An offer that Don couldn't
- 1:46:51refuse. The warden would then describe
- 1:46:54what happened and these are the words of Lieutenant Warden David
- 1:46:58Keenhold. I was in my office filling out
- 1:47:01paperwork with no one else around.
- 1:47:04It was approximately 8:00 PM in the evening.
- 1:47:07I didn't notice it at that time, but my shirt was dripping down.
- 1:47:11I heard a knock at the door and little did I know that it was
- 1:47:14the same officer that was just with Don Decker.
- 1:47:18I wasn't aware of the situation at the time.
- 1:47:21He told me to look at my shirt and there was no explanation as
- 1:47:25to where the water could have come from.
- 1:47:27The officer then became very frightened of what had happened
- 1:47:31and after explaining the situation to me, I too became
- 1:47:34frightened. Shortly after the rain in the
- 1:47:37warden's office, a frantic call was placed to a local chaplain,
- 1:47:42a man named Reverend William Blackburn.
- 1:47:45He soon found himself shaking hands with the warden and
- 1:47:48several officers as he was escorted into the jail and into
- 1:47:51an empty cell. Within minutes he came face to
- 1:47:55face with Don Decker, who by this time was beginning to fear
- 1:48:00the feeling he had inside of him.
- 1:48:03That powerful and evil feeling. He was now asking for the
- 1:48:07Reverend's help and freeing him of whatever this thing was.
- 1:48:12Blackburn wasn't convinced at first.
- 1:48:14He told Decker that his life would be much easier if he just
- 1:48:18stopped all this nonsense and attention seeking.
- 1:48:21He would go on later to describe the situation like this.
- 1:48:25Almost immediately after I accused him, Don's demeanor
- 1:48:29changed. The glazed look came over him
- 1:48:32and a horrible smell entered the room.
- 1:48:35Doctors, nurses and medical personnel will tell you that
- 1:48:39when you walk into a room when there's someone dying of disease
- 1:48:43or of cancer, there's a smell to it.
- 1:48:46I smelled that smell multiplied by at least five times.
- 1:48:51It was evil and foreboding. Don's glazed expression then
- 1:48:56switched to 1. Of malice and calculation.
- 1:49:00He exclaimed. I have powers that you don't and
- 1:49:04I can make it rain. He then raised his hand and
- 1:49:08rubbed his fingers together and it started to rain inside that
- 1:49:11cell. It was like a devil's rain, a
- 1:49:15mist. I was in the presence of evil.
- 1:49:19I started opening my Bible to begin to pray and Don said I
- 1:49:23don't want you to pray for me, to which I decided to anyways.
- 1:49:28I started to read to him and the strange thing is that even
- 1:49:32though I was soaked, the pages of my Bible never got wet and
- 1:49:36that was truly frightening. Although the session was short,
- 1:49:41upon uttering the words that he was now bound in the name of
- 1:49:44Jesus Christ, the rain stopped and a peace overtook dawn.
- 1:49:49When he finally came to, he thanked the reverend with tears
- 1:49:54in his eyes, and the two hugged and prayed together again.
- 1:49:59In the words of Reverend Blackburn, there is no doubt in
- 1:50:02my mind that he was possessed. No human being could do what he
- 1:50:07did in that room. There is no way that he did
- 1:50:09anything to fool me whatsoever. Whatever happened was spiritual
- 1:50:14and it was not from God. I can guarantee you that it was
- 1:50:19not from God. From this moment forward, the
- 1:50:22rain has stopped for now. Don Decker would later say that
- 1:50:26he takes things day by day and that fortunately, the rain
- 1:50:31hasn't returned. As for his grandfather, he
- 1:50:34thinks whatever happened was related to him.
- 1:50:38He thinks that considering where he thinks he ended up, maybe he
- 1:50:42was able to make a deal with someone and have yet another
- 1:50:45chance to abuse him. What makes this case so unique
- 1:50:50and interesting is that all the people involved are credible
- 1:50:53people. I mean we have some family
- 1:50:55friends sure, but they stated they had nothing take place in
- 1:50:59that house prior to Don's arrival that morning.
- 1:51:03We have the landlord of the family's home and his wife not
- 1:51:07only reaffirming that there weren't any prior issues, but
- 1:51:10that there were no pipes in that area of the house.
- 1:51:13We then have 6 police officers including the chief over the
- 1:51:17case experience the phenomena and he was the only one that
- 1:51:21said that nothing took place. We have a business owner where
- 1:51:24the phenomena took place at her establishment as well.
- 1:51:28Then several guards at the jail and which he goes back to finish
- 1:51:31serving his time witness things and the warden of the jail
- 1:51:35himself and the police officers. Three of them were seasoned
- 1:51:39lieutenants I might add and anyone with a proper reputation
- 1:51:43unless they really experienced something would risk that in my
- 1:51:47opinion. So was it demonic infestation?
- 1:51:51Possession, poltergeist activity, or something else
- 1:51:56entirely? When we have so many credible
- 1:51:58eyewitnesses recanting the same details, saying what they saw,
- 1:52:03experienced and felt was a phenomena not of this world, it
- 1:52:08truly makes you wonder. And if it wasn't spiritual,
- 1:52:12could Don's childhood trauma have allowed him to break into a
- 1:52:16part of the mind that could somehow 'cause these kinds of
- 1:52:19things allow him to manipulate the weather of his surroundings,
- 1:52:24move objects, and even cause harm to himself?
- 1:52:28We may never truly know the answers to this mystery in
- 1:52:31particular, and it very much still is a mystery to this day.
- 1:52:36As far as an update on Don Decker, besides multiple show
- 1:52:40appearances and interviews to discuss his story over the
- 1:52:43years, the last known activity that I could find of him was
- 1:52:47that back in 2012, he was charged with arson of a local
- 1:52:51restaurant in the Poconos Mountains of Pennsylvania.
- 1:52:55It seems like perhaps he was paid to set fire to the
- 1:52:58establishment by the owner, maybe for insurance fraud.
- 1:53:02As far as the outcome of the case, I couldn't find additional
- 1:53:05details. Perhaps whatever evil that was
- 1:53:08inside Dawn got the best of him at this time.
- 1:53:12Or, you know, we're all human, we do make mistakes without
- 1:53:16otherworldly influence as well. Just the thought.
- 1:53:19Wherever he is, I do have to say that his story is an amazing and
- 1:53:23intriguing 1 and I wish him nothing but the best.
- 1:53:28I'd also like to say thank you guys for watching this video.
- 1:53:31Without you guys, this channel was just me making videos that I
- 1:53:35find interesting at home at my computer, and I really can't
- 1:53:40hammer home how much your support means to me.
- 1:53:43It seems like YouTube doesn't always want to promote my
- 1:53:45content, and that's been a big uphill battle over the last four
- 1:53:49years. So when you choose to watch
- 1:53:51Mystery Archives, just know it helps me out much more than you
- 1:53:55could ever know. Rob and Vicki Graves had found
- 1:54:09what appeared to be their dream home.
- 1:54:12Looking to escape the big city life and take up a more rural
- 1:54:15one for themselves and their two teenage sons, they found Fox
- 1:54:20Hollow Farm and were shocked at how affordable it was for the
- 1:54:24sheer size and quality of the property.
- 1:54:27Sensing that it was too good to be true, they asked what could
- 1:54:30possibly be wrong with it because at a passing glance it
- 1:54:34seemed absolutely gorgeous. Then it came to Rob.
- 1:54:39He had remembered the name from a news broadcast many years ago.
- 1:54:43Unbeknownst to him and his wife, they were now standing on the
- 1:54:47very same grounds that were once owned by Herb Baumeister.
- 1:54:51Tory is serial killer. They immediately brought this up
- 1:54:55to the real estate agent who was showing them the property and
- 1:54:58were immediately told that that was indeed the case.
- 1:55:02That the private investor had indeed purchased the estate from
- 1:55:05the widow of Herb following the disturbing discovery of the
- 1:55:08bodies back in the 1990s, but that it had been completely
- 1:55:13remodeled from head to toe, removing any and all remnants of
- 1:55:17what it looked like when the murders had taken place all
- 1:55:20those years ago. But that's why it was indeed so
- 1:55:23affordable, because no one wanted to live there due to the
- 1:55:27history. After some further discussion
- 1:55:30among the couple, they ultimately decided to purchase
- 1:55:33the property. Within a couple weeks, the
- 1:55:36family moves in and falls in love with Fox Hollow Farm.
- 1:55:41The teenage sons soon make it a habit to play outside and then
- 1:55:44wash off in the pool in the basement, soon tracking dirt and
- 1:55:49gravel all throughout the home. One day, Vicki is vacuuming up
- 1:55:53the dirt that the boys had brought in from the outside
- 1:55:56around the pool when suddenly her vacuum loses power.
- 1:56:01Believing that perhaps she had accidentally unplugged it from
- 1:56:04the outlet, she plugged it back in and continued her work.
- 1:56:09Within several more minutes, it happened again.
- 1:56:12Perplexed this time because she was even more aware and careful
- 1:56:16about the cord in the outlet. She knew she hadn't unplugged
- 1:56:20it, so she plugged it back in and triple checked that it
- 1:56:23wasn't just falling out of the outlet by pulling the cord.
- 1:56:27Evermore aware this time she goes back to vacuuming but
- 1:56:31keeping a present eye on the cord itself and to her amazement
- 1:56:35it pulls out on its own as if someone had grabbed and pulled
- 1:56:40it out of the socket. Startled, she drops the vacuum
- 1:56:44and is beside herself. She doesn't know how to make
- 1:56:47sense of what had just happened and this would just be the
- 1:56:50beginning of the strangeness that would occur.
- 1:56:55Rob worked at a car dealership and one of his employees was a
- 1:56:58man named Joe Joe had been a great employee, but had a
- 1:57:02problem of being chronically late most of the time.
- 1:57:05As he probed to figure out what was going on, Joe informed Rob
- 1:57:09that he lived over an hour away and really needed the job and
- 1:57:13would be willing to move closer if the opportunity presented
- 1:57:16itself. Well, Rob thought about it and
- 1:57:20ended up offering Joe a place to rent.
- 1:57:23Located on Fox Hollow Farm, they had a guest house that they were
- 1:57:26considering renting out as apartments for quite some time,
- 1:57:30and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to benefit everyone
- 1:57:33involved. Joe would indeed move in just a
- 1:57:36few days later. It takes several hours, but
- 1:57:39within that time frame they're able to get everything inside
- 1:57:43and finish the move. Exhausted, Joe decides to retire
- 1:57:47for the night with his dog Fred. As he lays down to sleep in his
- 1:57:51newly set up bed, he then finds himself in a horrific nightmare.
- 1:57:56He's being chased throughout Fox Hollow Farm by something he
- 1:58:00can't see. The dream is so intense that it
- 1:58:03causes him to sleepwalk, which wasn't something that he was
- 1:58:07known to do. He began to run while still
- 1:58:10dreaming and ran directly into the door frame as he tried to
- 1:58:14escape the guest house. Falling back, he knocked into a
- 1:58:18nearby glass of water, which fell and shattered, cutting his
- 1:58:22hands. The impact and cutting of his
- 1:58:25hands finally woke him up and he was forced to sit back and
- 1:58:29ponder just what had taken place and things would only intensify
- 1:58:34from here another day. Soon after, Rob was painting the
- 1:58:38side of their helm a different color.
- 1:58:40As he and his wife remarked on how nice the finished job will
- 1:58:43be. She spots something out of the
- 1:58:45corner of her eye. She had seen a man in a red
- 1:58:49shirt staring at them. As she broke away from her
- 1:58:52husband and began to approach the figure, it started to walk
- 1:58:55away from her and quickly disappeared as if it never
- 1:58:59existed. The couple then called out and
- 1:59:03checked the perimeter but never found anyone.
- 1:59:06They dismissed the person as nothing more than a curious
- 1:59:09trespasser. I mean, after all, they did
- 1:59:12purchase a serial killer's home. It has had to accept that
- 1:59:15curious people may sneak up just to get a look at their home.
- 1:59:20Later that night, Joe was doing the dishes in his apartment when
- 1:59:24he suddenly gets a series of knocks on his front door,
- 1:59:28telling the person it'll just be a minute.
- 1:59:30As he dries his hands off to go and answer the door, the series
- 1:59:34of knocks begin to grow louder and more aggressive.
- 1:59:38Thinking it was extremely strange or extremely urgent
- 1:59:42concerning Vicki or Rob, he went and answered the doors.
- 1:59:46It was still being knocked upon. However, as he opened the door,
- 1:59:51there was no one to be found. Automatically on guard, he peers
- 1:59:55outside. The knocking had been happening
- 1:59:58when he answered the door, so no person could have got very far
- 2:00:02while he answered. Mid knock he glanced around and
- 2:00:06yet saw and heard nothing. He stepped outside and began to
- 2:00:10examine the roof in the nearby areas and still there was
- 2:00:15nothing. Thoroughly weirded out at this
- 2:00:18point, he made his way back inside and bolted, the door
- 2:00:22locked behind him. He started to make his way back
- 2:00:24to the kitchen to finish doing his dishes, but he spotted a man
- 2:00:28standing in his bedroom staring at him.
- 2:00:32Upon spotting the figure, his dog begins to growl and make
- 2:00:37sounds that he's never heard him make before, staring directly in
- 2:00:41the direction of the bedroom. Already on edge, he ran into the
- 2:00:46bedroom and flipped the light on only to discover that there was
- 2:00:51again no one there. Searching the entire apartment,
- 2:00:56he again found nothing. Trying to rationalize and clear
- 2:01:00his mind, he decided to take his dog Fred for a walk to calm down
- 2:01:05and unwind for the evening. While on his walk around the
- 2:01:09property, he thought to check on Rob and Vicki's house to see if
- 2:01:13the lights were on. This would indicate to him that
- 2:01:16perhaps they were the ones who had knocked on his door and
- 2:01:19therefore he could rest easy and figure out what it was about.
- 2:01:22The following morning. However, upon arriving at their
- 2:01:26house, he found it completely blacked out.
- 2:01:29They had already gone to bed for the night.
- 2:01:32Fred, who was always a loyal and obedient dog, always walked with
- 2:01:36him without a leash and would always follow his commands.
- 2:01:41However, tonight would be a different story.
- 2:01:44Deciding to head back to his apartment, he motioned for Fred
- 2:01:47to join him, but the dog would not budget.
- 2:01:51He suddenly began to growl and then bolted into the nearby tree
- 2:01:55line. Instinctively, Joe ran after his
- 2:01:58dog, but not before seeing what his dog was running after.
- 2:02:03Before his eyes and the very same tree line was a man in a
- 2:02:07red shirt. Although he was absolutely
- 2:02:10terrified, Joe couldn't let anything happen to his beloved
- 2:02:13dog, so he continued to run towards this man, when suddenly
- 2:02:19whoever or whatever this was disappeared before his eyes,
- 2:02:25although slightly behind. He would quickly catch up to
- 2:02:28Fred and now noticed him not acting aggressive at all, but
- 2:02:32rather showing his belly in submission, staring in the
- 2:02:36direction of Joe. Joe, knowing his dog, knew that
- 2:02:40something very strange had to be up with him.
- 2:02:44He suddenly felt as if someone was staring directly at him.
- 2:02:48He slowly turned around to see the apparition of a man in a red
- 2:02:52shirt with a twisted face staring back at him just several
- 2:02:58feet away. Joe, as most of us would, ran
- 2:03:02out of there as fast as he could, his loyal companion
- 2:03:06following him. The two run as fast as they can
- 2:03:09back to the apartment, where they rush inside, lock and
- 2:03:13deadbolt the door, and nervously watch out of the blinds for the
- 2:03:17rest of the night. The following morning, and even
- 2:03:20more exhausted, Joe makes his way to Vicki and Rob's house to
- 2:03:24discuss the prior night's events.
- 2:03:26As he's telling both of them what happened, Vicki starts to
- 2:03:30become emotional. She too had seen the man in red
- 2:03:33just days earlier. She points to where she saw him
- 2:03:37and Loan, and behold, it's the exact same spot that Joe had
- 2:03:41encountered the entity the night before.
- 2:03:43As the day progressed tonight, Joe yet again found himself in
- 2:03:47his apartment, hoping to finally get some rest.
- 2:03:51But as he settled down in his bed, he was suddenly startled by
- 2:03:55knocking at his door as he yelled out who is it?
- 2:04:00As he made his way towards the door, he didn't receive an
- 2:04:03audible answer back, just more aggressive knocking at the door,
- 2:04:08the door itself now shaking, facing his fear of the unknown.
- 2:04:14Mid knock, Joe throws the door open only to meet face to face
- 2:04:20with nothing. As he frantically looks around
- 2:04:23the yard while holding the door, he notices that the doors
- 2:04:27knocking apparatus is sticking straight out as if someone is
- 2:04:32holding it. It then drops one last time,
- 2:04:36knocking the door. Absolutely petrified, Joe slams
- 2:04:40the door and locks it. As he tries to catch his breath
- 2:04:44and take several steps backwards, he sees the door knob
- 2:04:47begin to turn. Then, without warning, the door
- 2:04:51bursts open, shattering the lock.
- 2:04:55The open door, yet again, reveals no one.
- 2:04:58After a moment of frozen terror, Joe runs outside and into the
- 2:05:02front yard of his apartment, screaming and searching all
- 2:05:06around for just who could be doing this.
- 2:05:09After several minutes, he stares back into the house to the open
- 2:05:13front door and sees a man dressed in all white standing
- 2:05:17there. He soaked from head to toe in
- 2:05:19what appears to be water and is screaming in a muted voice as if
- 2:05:25he's being held underwater. He then bolts towards Joe and
- 2:05:29seemingly disappears into a mist, frantically calling out to
- 2:05:34his dog Fred to accompany him, Joe frantically makes his way to
- 2:05:37Rob and Vicki's house on the property.
- 2:05:40He's so terrified that he's shaking now, and Rob and Vicki
- 2:05:43are just as scared. They now truly believe that they
- 2:05:46are dealing with something paranormal in nature in order to
- 2:05:50rationalize the situation and make sense of what was taking
- 2:05:54place. They begin to believe that
- 2:05:56they're experiencing the results of the murders conducted by Erb
- 2:06:00Baumeister, and that his victims are either trapped here somehow,
- 2:06:06or their energy is stuck in an endless loop, replaying their
- 2:06:10final and tragic moments over and over and over again.
- 2:06:19Refusing to return to his apartment, Rob and Vicki, being
- 2:06:22the supportive friends they were, agreed that Joe could stay
- 2:06:25the night with them and together they would begin researching
- 2:06:28online to try and formulate some kind of a plan of action of what
- 2:06:33to do next. As they collectively scour the
- 2:06:36Baumeister case information, they find themselves looking at
- 2:06:40the list of identified victims. As they get deeper into the
- 2:06:44details, Joe is shocked. He stops them on a picture of a
- 2:06:48man in a white shirt. That was the man I saw in my
- 2:06:52apartment who was soaked from head to toe and screaming.
- 2:06:57Although this information still scares them, it does help
- 2:07:00reassure them that they are indeed dealing with the victims
- 2:07:04of this horrendous tragedy. They are especially convinced
- 2:07:08considering many of the remains have never been identified, so
- 2:07:12they continue to research the case.
- 2:07:14After several uneventful days, Joe finds himself almost
- 2:07:18compelled to walk around the property with his dog, except
- 2:07:22this time in broad daylight. So apprehensively, he makes his
- 2:07:27way with Fred to the area where both he and Vicki have seen the
- 2:07:31Man in Red on separate occasions.
- 2:07:34Just past the tree line on The Walking path, Joe has stopped by
- 2:07:38what looks to be a bone. He believes that it's impossible
- 2:07:42that such a bone could have been missed during the extensive
- 2:07:44searches over the years, but none the less it was right here,
- 2:07:49right now, as if it had been placed there for him to
- 2:07:53discover. Quickly consulting and showing
- 2:07:55Rob and Vicki the discovery, they too believed that this
- 2:07:59could be a bone belonging to the mysterious Man in Red.
- 2:08:02They ended up contacting the lead detective on the Baumeister
- 2:08:05case and submitted the bone, which turned out to be a human
- 2:08:09femur bone, in his evidence and for analysis.
- 2:08:13They then requested if the investigator himself could come
- 2:08:17out to the property and explain to them just where things had
- 2:08:20taken place so they could have a better understanding of what
- 2:08:24happened, to which he obliged. Several days passed and Joe by
- 2:08:29this point had made his way back to his apartment to try and
- 2:08:33settle back in given the new information.
- 2:08:36While on his computer checking his emails, he began to hear
- 2:08:39scraping, almost metallic like sound originating from the
- 2:08:43kitchen. Upon further examination he sees
- 2:08:47that all of his butcher knives from his knife block have been
- 2:08:51neatly arranged in his sink, placed in a row equally spaced
- 2:08:56from one another. Glancing around the room, he
- 2:08:59spots fresh deep cuts in the wood of the nearby counter
- 2:09:02cabinet. He believes that this could be a
- 2:09:05sign for one of the victims crying for help.
- 2:09:09He starts to try and figure out the mystery.
- 2:09:12He takes out his phone and begins recording, asking probing
- 2:09:16questions to whoever or whatever could be there and hopes of
- 2:09:21helping them in any way that he can.
- 2:09:23Prior to this, of course, he turned off any and all
- 2:09:26appliances that could interfere with the process.
- 2:09:30He begins by asking a series of questions and doesn't seem to
- 2:09:33get much of anything, at least not audibly.
- 2:09:37But then, towards the end of his questions, Fred begins to growl.
- 2:09:41The same eerie growl he had any time they'd experienced
- 2:09:44something previously. Taking this as confirmation that
- 2:09:48perhaps his companion could see or hear something that he
- 2:09:51couldn't, he quickly downloads the audio file and begins to
- 2:09:55listen to it on his computer. And to his shock, he did indeed
- 2:10:00receive a response. This is the clip of the actual
- 2:10:04EVP that was recorded who keeps walking in the kitchen.
- 2:10:11He believes he hears the married one, but in all of their
- 2:10:15research, all of the victims were young, single gay men.
- 2:10:20The only one who was married was one Herb Baumeister.
- 2:10:25This revelation is startling. He not only believes that the
- 2:10:29victims were trapped within the grounds of Fox Hollow Farm, but
- 2:10:33that perhaps the serial killer himself could too be trapped
- 2:10:37here. What would follow would be
- 2:10:39dozens of paranormal investigations.
- 2:10:43And those investigations would lead the group to believe that
- 2:10:46they were not only dealing with the spirits of the victims
- 2:10:48haunting the grounds, but either a dark entity impersonating
- 2:10:52Baumeister or the killer himself.
- 2:10:56Several years after the events, the Graves family would end up
- 2:10:59selling Fox Hollow Farm, and it would continue to change hands
- 2:11:03over the years since then, leading to multiple new owners
- 2:11:07of the property. And although new information
- 2:11:10doesn't seem to be publicly available, it's still considered
- 2:11:14one of the most haunted places in Indiana, if not the world,
- 2:11:18given its unique and gruesome history.
- 2:11:22An independent film will go on to be made about it called The
- 2:11:25Haunting of Fox Hollow Farm. And Robert Graves, along with
- 2:11:29another man named Richard Estep who led many paranormal
- 2:11:33investigations at Fox Hollow Farm, will Co write a book
- 2:11:36detailing the family's creepy experiences and what they
- 2:11:40believe to be ultimately happening.
- 2:11:43So in conclusion, we know that Herb Baumeister was mentally ill
- 2:11:47ultimately, but what makes this case so strange and so
- 2:11:51compelling to me is that he was an outstanding member of his
- 2:11:55community for the longest time. He was the smiling neighbor, the
- 2:11:59charitable businessman, the happy family man, and overall a
- 2:12:04pillar of normalcy. But behind closed doors, his
- 2:12:09psyche, his soul, contained a darkness that most of us will
- 2:12:14never be able to comprehend, yet alone unravel and understand.
- 2:12:20So could the murderous deeds of a twisted individual trap souls
- 2:12:24on a property and perhaps open some kind of a portal?
- 2:12:28Could the unleashing of such energy, like what is expressed
- 2:12:31in a violent death, contribute to something like this?
- 2:12:35If it wasn't what's known as an intelligent haunting, where the
- 2:12:38spirits are aware of what has happened to them and are indeed
- 2:12:42trapped there, which very well could still be the case, then
- 2:12:46perhaps it could be a residual haunting where the events are of
- 2:12:50such magnitude and strength that they play on a loop for all
- 2:12:54time, but the souls who were involved have long since moved
- 2:12:59on. These are questions that we may
- 2:13:01never have answers to, but all things that we should ponder.
- 2:13:06The one thing is for certain, the malicious calculation of
- 2:13:10Herb Baumeister and the horrendous things that he did to
- 2:13:13the suspected 25 victims at Fox Hollow Farms should never be
- 2:13:18forgotten. They are indeed still
- 2:13:20identifying and using updated technology to identify remains
- 2:13:25that are still being found on the grounds.
- 2:13:27This has happened as recent as November of 2022.
- 2:13:31So if you happen to be a family member of someone that you
- 2:13:34suspect could be connected to this case, just know that my
- 2:13:38heart truly does go out to you and please contact the Hamilton
- 2:13:42County Coroner's Office at 317-770-4415.
- 2:13:50Besides remembering what happened, I also urge you to
- 2:13:53please respect the victims and their families as well as the
- 2:13:57family of Herb Baumeister if you should ever have anything to do
- 2:14:01with them. Throughout history, it has been
- 2:14:05speculated that many have been plagued by an ancient demonic
- 2:14:10force. From Mesopotamia to more modern
- 2:14:14times, This evil and terrifying entity as said to enter our
- 2:14:20world and wreak havoc upon those who dwell within it.
- 2:14:26When a seemingly normal family disregards the warnings and
- 2:14:31partakes in multiple Ouija board sessions, what happened next
- 2:14:36nearly destroyed them. This is the untold story of the
- 2:14:41demonic Zozo House of Oklahoma and the abhorrent creature that
- 2:14:47stalks its walls. Oklahoma City, a small but
- 2:15:05growing city in the heartland of America known for blue collar
- 2:15:10work and brick and mortar shops, red dirt and sports would soon
- 2:15:18become known for something much darker.
- 2:15:23A teenager by the name of Darren Evans was growing up here, a
- 2:15:27normal boy by all accounts, doing things that any teenagers
- 2:15:32would enjoy, hanging out with friends, shenanigans here and
- 2:15:37there, and dating girls. He began dating a girl named
- 2:15:43Brandy who attended school with him, and the two often found
- 2:15:47themselves visiting each other as often as they could, whether
- 2:15:52that was walking to and from school and between classes or
- 2:15:57visiting each other's homes. One day, while Brandy's home was
- 2:16:03having some plumbing work done on some pipes located underneath
- 2:16:07the house, the plumber doing the work would soon make a strange
- 2:16:12discovery. Located below the foundation of
- 2:16:16the home, covered in dirt, was an old Ouija board.
- 2:16:21The front letters were partially buried and the back of the board
- 2:16:26was solid black in color. Off to the side of where the
- 2:16:30board was found was an aged planchette.
- 2:16:35What made this finding even more bizarre was that 4 old jars sat
- 2:16:40on the corners of the board, speckled with dirt as well.
- 2:16:46Thinking perhaps the kids had stashed the board away and
- 2:16:49forgot about it, the worker told the young couple after his work
- 2:16:53was done about what he had found.
- 2:16:57And it's from here that things seemingly take a darker turn.
- 2:17:02Upon examining the discovery, they began to brush the dirt
- 2:17:06away from the jars. They were then shocked by what
- 2:17:10they found inside each one of the jars.
- 2:17:14Sitting on the four corners of the board were the decaying
- 2:17:18bodies of blackbirds, congealed blood and matter still present.
- 2:17:26Bewildered but intrigued, they sat the jars off to the side and
- 2:17:32picked up the board. As soon as his fingers made
- 2:17:36contact with the board, Darren seemed to have an instant
- 2:17:40connection with it. And with this soon came a
- 2:17:43burning curiosity to examine it. And this curiosity would
- 2:17:49manifest into obsession. With this, the couple took the
- 2:17:55board inside the home where they spoke with Brandy's mother.
- 2:18:00She actively practiced the Wiccan religion but had no idea
- 2:18:05who could have put the board there several days later.
- 2:18:09Curious as most teenagers are, Darren was an avid music fan and
- 2:18:16one night, after building up the courage to do it, he decided he
- 2:18:21was going to contact the deceased singer of the popular
- 2:18:24band ACDC, a man named Ronald Belfort Scott, using the board.
- 2:18:32Scott had passed away from alcohol poisoning in 1980.
- 2:18:37After lighting several candles, laying the board with letters
- 2:18:41facing towards him, and placing the planchette upon the board,
- 2:18:46he began his session. At first, nothing seemed to
- 2:18:50happen, but Darren was still feeling this otherworldly
- 2:18:54connection to something within the board itself.
- 2:18:59After trying for half an hour, to his shock and amazement, the
- 2:19:04planchette began to move. Slowly at first, it then
- 2:19:10frantically began to move by itself, moving from Z to OZ to O
- 2:19:19over and over and over again, spelling out the name Sozo.
- 2:19:27Shocked and unsure of what or who he had contacted, Darren
- 2:19:33said goodbye in an attempt to end the session.
- 2:19:37Before his eyes he saw the plain chat spell out See you in hell
- 2:19:43and then it threw itself across the room.
- 2:19:47A now terrified and bewildered Darren ran out of his room and
- 2:19:51tried to make sense of what had just taken place.
- 2:19:55But this was just the beginning of what was to come.
- 2:20:00It started with horrible night terrors.
- 2:20:03He would wake up unable to move or speak.
- 2:20:07And would hear whispering in his ears.
- 2:20:10These episodes at night were soon followed by banging and
- 2:20:13knocking throughout his house during the daytime, as well as a
- 2:20:18constant feeling as if he was being watched by something he
- 2:20:22couldn't see. But despite the presence he was
- 2:20:26feeling, Darren now sought answers to his ever growing list
- 2:20:30of questions. Just what exactly he had
- 2:20:34uncovered. So he continued to hold sessions
- 2:20:38with the board, for better or for worse.
- 2:20:44Darren would later quote this. The sessions now were as intense
- 2:20:49and paranormal as anything I've ever witnessed.
- 2:20:53A deep and terrible moaning could be heard emanating through
- 2:20:56the walls. After these sessions, I
- 2:20:59developed sleep paralysis and became reclusive to society in
- 2:21:04general. I was once again messing with
- 2:21:07Zozo and Ouija boards, despite the terrors of my earlier
- 2:21:12sessions, which I had promised myself I would never do it
- 2:21:16again. But again, and again I did.
- 2:21:22When not in use, the board was kept in a purple silk cloth and
- 2:21:26stored in his bedroom closet. It would also often go missing,
- 2:21:32sometimes for days on end. When checking back where he had
- 2:21:37placed it in order to set up and initiate a new session, the
- 2:21:41board would seemingly vanish, only to reappear at random
- 2:21:46times, as if it was the one calling the shots of when it
- 2:21:51could be seen and used. The years came and when and the
- 2:21:57sessions on the Mystical Ouija board continued.
- 2:22:02Darren by this time started inviting his friends to partake
- 2:22:06in the sessions, and although their sessions with him would
- 2:22:10prove he's not insane, it's of little consolation considering
- 2:22:15the tragedy they would seemingly manifest later on.
- 2:22:20Darren's best friend was a man by the name of Randy.
- 2:22:24The two had bonded over their love for the band ACDC in high
- 2:22:28school and had been inseparable ever since.
- 2:22:32Randy's idol also being the late Bon Scott, whose lifestyle
- 2:22:37seemingly imprinted upon the youthful teens Once Upon a time
- 2:22:41and perhaps would ultimately lead to the downfall of one of
- 2:22:46them. By now, Darren was living in his
- 2:22:49own apartment and working construction at a job site he
- 2:22:54was on. He would make a strange but
- 2:22:57familiar discovery. As he was digging down into the
- 2:23:01earth, he found what appeared to be a jar.
- 2:23:05Upon picking it up to discard it, he wiped away the dirt and
- 2:23:10debris only to be shocked by its familiar contents.
- 2:23:15Loan and behold, within the jar was a congealed and rotting
- 2:23:21Blackbird, extremely similar if not identical to the ones
- 2:23:26initially found alongside the Ouija board under underneath his
- 2:23:30high school girlfriend's home all those years ago.
- 2:23:35It was particularly weird not just because of this, but the
- 2:23:40fact that he had found it digging down deep into the
- 2:23:43earth. He wondered what were the odds
- 2:23:47of this, and although he had no way of knowing for sure, his gut
- 2:23:52began to tell him that there was some kind of witchcraft or a
- 2:23:56cult expertise at play here. Perhaps someone or a group of
- 2:24:01people were knowingly contacting this entity known as Zozo.
- 2:24:06But for what remained to be known, one evening in 1985,
- 2:24:13Darren and Randy were relaxing at Darren's apartment when they
- 2:24:17decided to host a session on the Ouija board.
- 2:24:21Randy, more than anything, wanted to try and make contact
- 2:24:25with his late idol, Bon Scott while wearing a Highway to Hell
- 2:24:31ACDC shirt. Randy's intent was clear.
- 2:24:36The two dimmed the lights, lit a couple of candles, and began the
- 2:24:40session upon the board. They made contact within a few
- 2:24:45minutes once the planchette was moving.
- 2:24:50Randy exclaimed. We want to talk to Bon Scott of
- 2:24:54ACDC. With this sentence, the planchet
- 2:24:59seemingly obliged. It moved in circles, eventually
- 2:25:05spelling out a YEMATE. The 2 looked at each other in
- 2:25:11amazement. The entity was using Australian
- 2:25:15dialects, and for anyone who doesn't know, Bon Scott was
- 2:25:20Australian. After several more questions,
- 2:25:24both of the young men were convinced they were speaking
- 2:25:27with their idol. The spirit seemed to know every
- 2:25:30little detail to any question they asked and during the
- 2:25:34session the entity then made a strange request from the men.
- 2:25:39It asked them to light a cigarette and place it in the
- 2:25:43hole in the plane shed. What proceeded to make both of
- 2:25:46them laugh also made them quite spooked as well.
- 2:25:50So they lit a couple cigarettes, one for each of them and one for
- 2:25:56this entity. They took a few drags to keep it
- 2:26:00lit and then placed it cherry side up in the Blanchette hole.
- 2:26:05The Blanchette then spelled out thanks.
- 2:26:08They then watched an utter amazement as the cherry of the
- 2:26:12cigarette lit up as if Bon himself was taking puffs off of
- 2:26:17it. But this amusement was short
- 2:26:21lived. Once the cigarette had seemingly
- 2:26:24been smoked, the playing chat began to spell something very
- 2:26:29different. It's spelled F you Randy.
- 2:26:34I will have your soul and I'll see you in hell.
- 2:26:39Zo Zo terrified the men quickly into the session by saying
- 2:26:46goodbye and tossing the board outside the second story
- 2:26:50apartment balcony door. Clearly scared and upset, Randy
- 2:26:55also didn't take kindly to threats.
- 2:26:59He began cussing out Zozo with complete and utter rage.
- 2:27:03The board would later be returned by his downstairs
- 2:27:06neighbor and after this session, a series of lows for both of the
- 2:27:12men seemed to manifest in the years to come.
- 2:27:16Influenced by the lifestyle of his idol, Randy fell victim to
- 2:27:20alcoholism. He soon would lose his wife to
- 2:27:24divorce and have split custody with his son.
- 2:27:28And although many opportunities presented themselves for Randy
- 2:27:32to better his life, for one reason or another, he was always
- 2:27:36just too far away to be able to grasp them, he often said to
- 2:27:41Darren, I feel like I'm in a prison and I can't escape for
- 2:27:48old time's sake. The two did one last Ouija board
- 2:27:51session together in 2005, in which Randy asked the board how
- 2:27:57he would die. The board responded in a car at
- 2:28:03night alone. In 2007, after spending the
- 2:28:08evening with Darren, the last words he would say to him were
- 2:28:13Darren, I will see you in hell. The next morning, Darren
- 2:28:18received a phone call from Randy's girlfriend Alicia,
- 2:28:22saying that Randy never made it home after he left.
- 2:28:26Instead, he had passed away in a violent head on collision,
- 2:28:31ultimately passing away in a car at night and alone.
- 2:28:38This devastating passing, along with the frequent contact with
- 2:28:41the entity known as Zozo over the years, led to a fascination
- 2:28:46and borderline obsession with the search for answers for
- 2:28:50Darren Evans. During the time before and after
- 2:28:54Randy's death, he had been living in a home in Oklahoma
- 2:28:58City, OK that would become synonymous with the demon's
- 2:29:03name. It was here that the worst
- 2:29:06afflictions brought on by the entity would take place to him
- 2:29:10and his family. Darren's fascination with the
- 2:29:14occult led him to hanging on to and possessing multiple Ouija
- 2:29:18boards and other various occult objects.
- 2:29:23It was here that he began to study on a much more in depth
- 2:29:27and organized basis, just trying to figure out who or what Zozo
- 2:29:32was. But this research would soon be
- 2:29:36interrupted, and this home lived himself, his wife Kathleen, and
- 2:29:43their young daughter at the time.
- 2:29:46During a session with his wife Kathleen one evening while their
- 2:29:50daughter slept rooms away, Zozo would once again make itself
- 2:29:55present in their lives, but this time seemed to take possession
- 2:30:00of Darren. Kathleen trembled with fear and
- 2:30:05bated breath as something stared at her through Darren's eyes,
- 2:30:10something that clearly wasn't human.
- 2:30:14He then turned violent, attempting to attack her.
- 2:30:19Fortunately for Kathleen, she was able to say goodbye and get
- 2:30:23away before any harm could be done to her.
- 2:30:27Several minutes later, Darren would come back to himself with
- 2:30:32no memory of what had taken place.
- 2:30:36After this session, things seemed to escalate in intensity.
- 2:30:42Sounds began to rap throughout the entire home, from knocking
- 2:30:48to hissing, footsteps and banging, all seemingly with no
- 2:30:55explainable origin. The family got so terrified that
- 2:31:01they sectioned off a particular bedroom upstairs, calling it
- 2:31:05their safe room. One night.
- 2:31:08However, not everyone was within the safe room.
- 2:31:13Suddenly, an overwhelming sense of terror creeped upon Darren as
- 2:31:18he was trying to sleep. He rushed to the safe room to
- 2:31:22attempt to stop what he was feeling, but quickly realizing
- 2:31:26he couldn't leave his family behind, he rushed back out of
- 2:31:30the room in an attempt to gather them and bring them to safety as
- 2:31:34well. As he was heading towards the
- 2:31:38stairs, his daughter had heard his cries and was now at the
- 2:31:42foot of the stairs. It was here that Darren saw her
- 2:31:47being lifted by invisible hands into the air and carried away
- 2:31:53from him, screaming for his child as she screamed for her
- 2:31:59father. Darren ran down the stairs as
- 2:32:02fast as he possibly could but couldn't see her anywhere.
- 2:32:06Insight. He then heard her muffled
- 2:32:09screams coming from the basement.
- 2:32:13At first the door was locked and wouldn't open, but after
- 2:32:18adrenaline and brute force, Darren thankfully was able to
- 2:32:22open it. He then retrieved his hysterical
- 2:32:25child and brought her to the safety of the safe room.
- 2:32:30Once inside the room, the family huddled together in fear as they
- 2:32:35continue to hear movement and noises all throughout the house.
- 2:32:40After this abhorrent nightmare of a situation, the family knew
- 2:32:44they had to get out of the house.
- 2:32:47This situation and the many other paranormal experiences had
- 2:32:51led to a lifelong fascination for Darren Evans with the occult
- 2:32:57and finding out just exactly what Sozo is.
- 2:33:01But was it worth jeopardizing his family's safety?
- 2:33:05It took some time but the family would soon relocate to another
- 2:33:10home and once his family was safe, Darren was able to
- 2:33:15continue his deep dive into the unknown to try and track down
- 2:33:20and decipher just what this entity could be and where it
- 2:33:24came from. And although he knew the topic
- 2:33:27was vast, I think it went far deeper than he ever anticipated.
- 2:33:33Whilst trying to dig up more information, he posted his
- 2:33:37experiences to an old paranormal forum in 2009.
- 2:33:43And since then many, many people have shared their experiences
- 2:33:49with the demonic force, many of which have been documented and
- 2:33:55compared by Darren himself on his website.
- 2:33:59But these experiences are not just a 21st or even 20th century
- 2:34:03phenomena, they date back far older than that.
- 2:34:08Not every fine detail will be mentioned here, but I will do my
- 2:34:12best to list the most important details that I could find in
- 2:34:17regards to the origin of Zozo. According to Darren and other
- 2:34:22online sources, Zozo in the old Basque language means Blackbird
- 2:34:28or crow. The Zo people of Haiti practiced
- 2:34:32a form of voodoo whose rituals involve horrific scarification
- 2:34:38as well as the intake and passing around of bodily fluids
- 2:34:42and bizarre rituals. Their witch doctors are called
- 2:34:47Zozo and wear demonic looking masks as part of their death
- 2:34:52ritual. When someone is passing away,
- 2:34:56they lift up the mask at the moment of death to take in the
- 2:34:59person's final breath. This is apparently done to
- 2:35:04absorb the soul of the person to gain more spiritual power.
- 2:35:09Zozo, also in the Malay language, is the same as it is
- 2:35:13in English, but it translates to wandering spirit, which is a
- 2:35:18spirit they believe to steal people's souls while they sleep,
- 2:35:23which is also bizarre because sleep is often considered the
- 2:35:27cousin of death. Zozo has been called the
- 2:35:31minister of deception. It is known to convince you that
- 2:35:35it is a deceased loved one or friend or even someone you've
- 2:35:39idolized, when in reality it's not.
- 2:35:45Sessions typically start out friendly and inviting but soon
- 2:35:50turn malevolent and dangerous. During his research over the
- 2:35:55years, Darren made contact with and spoke to famous demonologist
- 2:36:00John Zappos, who shared with him that in his experience of over
- 2:36:0540 years of studying the demonic and paranormal, the name Zozo
- 2:36:11and other pseudonyms of its name kept coming up in his
- 2:36:14investigations, which too led him to seek answers as to what
- 2:36:19it could be. And some of those
- 2:36:22investigations, when questioned, the demon stated that it was the
- 2:36:26son of Satan himself. But Zapfis thinks perhaps is
- 2:36:31with many deities that seem to be lurking in the shadows, Zozo
- 2:36:36could be an entity that's existed far before the founding
- 2:36:40of Christianity. Besides evidence showing up in
- 2:36:44Africa and Egypt, there's also evidence found linking Zozo to
- 2:36:49ancient Mesopotamia as well. Other names Zozo has gone by
- 2:36:54throughout the ages have been Zuzu, Zaza, and Mama, among many
- 2:37:01others. The name Zuzu could refer to
- 2:37:05Pazuzu, the famed demon from the film The Exorcist, which in
- 2:37:10reality was a demonic entity from ancient Mesopotamian
- 2:37:14religion. It's incredibly strange to note
- 2:37:18the following as well. Zozo was replaced in the story
- 2:37:22of the exorcism of Roland Doe and Peter Blatty was using it as
- 2:37:27inspiration to write The Exorcist.
- 2:37:30He changed Zozo to Pazuzu. Zozo is believed to be the demon
- 2:37:36that possessed Roland. It was described as a terrifying
- 2:37:41form that first appeared in the Neo Assyrian period, roughly
- 2:37:46around 934 to 610 BC. It had a monstrous head
- 2:37:52resembling A fierce lion or a dog with horns, and had an
- 2:37:57emaciated human body with clawed hands, a scorpion's tail, and
- 2:38:04two sets of wings, One translation reads.
- 2:38:10I am Pazuzu, the son of Hambu, king of the Lilu demons.
- 2:38:16I have scaled the powerful mountains.
- 2:38:19They trembled. The contrary winds were headed
- 2:38:23West 1 by 1. I broke their wings.
- 2:38:29Pazuzu and other demons like it were held responsible for
- 2:38:32ailments like disease, fetal death, nightmares, and much
- 2:38:38more. Could it be that this ancient
- 2:38:41demonic force is what could be plaguing people all the way into
- 2:38:45modern times? The demon Zozo is also mentioned
- 2:38:50in the French Demonic Encyclopedia.
- 2:38:53Is one of the demons responsible for diabolical possession and
- 2:38:58corruption. The possession of a young girl
- 2:39:02in 1816 is noted as a documented case where Zozo, among several
- 2:39:08other demons, were present. Other noteworthy possession
- 2:39:12cases over the ages ranging closer to modern times that
- 2:39:17bears Zozo's name other than the exorcism of Rolling Doe in the
- 2:39:211950s are the possession of Doris Blither in 1972 in Los
- 2:39:27Angeles, the Enfield Poltergeist incident in 1977 in the UK, and
- 2:39:36as recent as 2012 where a possession incident led to an
- 2:39:41attempted murder. Other theories with how this
- 2:39:45entity could communicate with so many people so quickly and
- 2:39:49across the globe over the years, besides supernatural ability of
- 2:39:54its own, would be that its own reach is perhaps being
- 2:39:58strengthened by an agrigor or a collective group of thaw form
- 2:40:04created by occultists for a certain purpose.
- 2:40:09However, this seems unlikely considering the entity doesn't
- 2:40:13seem to serve any human interest other than to destroy the person
- 2:40:19or people's lives it makes contact with.
- 2:40:22Agrigors are typically formed to bring control over a summoned
- 2:40:26deity for the person or groups bidding.
- 2:40:30But perhaps instead there is a cold worshipping Zozo?
- 2:40:34I mean, that would make more sense to me.
- 2:40:38People who have made contact with the entity via spirit or
- 2:40:41Ouija board have also been asked to chant or spell out phrases in
- 2:40:46Hebrew or Latin, which has convinced many of the
- 2:40:50intelligence of the being that they're speaking with.
- 2:40:54What is also interesting is that the letter Z was actually
- 2:40:58removed from the original Latin alphabet because it was
- 2:41:02considered too evil when pronouncing it.
- 2:41:05It was said that one's face would make a death's grimace
- 2:41:08like that of a corpse, and that it mimicked the letter S like an
- 2:41:14evil twin. Perhaps the entity uses this
- 2:41:18name as some sort of mocking, whether to God or something
- 2:41:23else. One may also ask, despite the
- 2:41:27origin, theories, and historical details that could be linked to
- 2:41:31this ancient demonic force, how would one know if they
- 2:41:35encountered such a thing? These are what's known as Zozo's
- 2:41:39calling cards when it's being summoned using a Ouija board.
- 2:41:44The obvious is there that the planchette will begin to move on
- 2:41:48its own, but some less obvious signs are there as well and are
- 2:41:53as follows. The planchette will move in a
- 2:41:57rainbow pattern from side to side, spelling ZOZO over and
- 2:42:04over again, also known as the rainbow effect.
- 2:42:09It can also move in repeating Figure 8 movements like an
- 2:42:13Infinity sign. The planchet will spell out
- 2:42:17various versions of the demon's name, like Zozo, Zoso, Zaza,
- 2:42:24Zuzu, or Mama. You may also begin to see
- 2:42:29shadows moving around the area where you were hosting the
- 2:42:32session, like you're seeing through the thinnest sheet and
- 2:42:37to a Dark World that exists just behind your vision.
- 2:42:42And you and whoever you may be with may start to feel scared,
- 2:42:47uneasy, or upset, seemingly for no other reason.
- 2:42:53Before or after this takes place when you tell this entity
- 2:42:58goodbye. Typically the best way to close
- 2:43:01a session, it may not truly be goodbye because often times,
- 2:43:08depending on how long the session has been for, like an
- 2:43:11ever widening door, the entity may have had just enough time to
- 2:43:16sneak in to begin to wreak havoc upon your life.
- 2:43:21And thus begins what many demonologists and religious
- 2:43:24leaders alike call demonic obsession, which is where the
- 2:43:28entity becomes aware of you and begins to crave you, which then
- 2:43:34leads to oppression or begins to inflict various forms of torture
- 2:43:39upon you in an effort to break you down, whether that's
- 2:43:43physically, psychologically, or spiritually.
- 2:43:48It will also work to isolate you from others, especially those
- 2:43:53who care about you. And finally, if you're
- 2:43:57incredibly unlucky, possession or the entity finally takes
- 2:44:02control of you as its vessel. All of which to me, are
- 2:44:07absolutely terrifying in every imaginable way.
- 2:44:12Darren Evans to this day continues to research the Zozo
- 2:44:16Phenomena, having been involved in the number of paranormal
- 2:44:20investigations, shows, and various other public and private
- 2:44:25events, as well as radio shows and podcasts, many of which he
- 2:44:30goes into various degrees of details regarding his
- 2:44:33encounters, other people's encounters, and other various
- 2:44:38historical details. He also in 2016 compiled his
- 2:44:43year's worth of research and experiences into a book, also
- 2:44:47titled The Zozo Phenomena, which you can read and learn more
- 2:44:51about the entity and the topic as a whole.
- 2:44:53If you're interested, I'll link it below.
- 2:44:58I also pulled a lot of this information from various
- 2:45:00interviews, which I'll also be linking below, as well as an
- 2:45:04older website he runs that doesn't seem to have been
- 2:45:07updated in a while, but supplied me with much information to get
- 2:45:12the story as cohesive as I possibly could.
- 2:45:16I also sourced the photos of the apparitions from the site, some
- 2:45:20of which were taken by Evans himself over the years.
- 2:45:25So does this demon or ancient force truly exist?
- 2:45:30Is it some kind of elder God, a pre Christian deity or being or
- 2:45:36manifestation of occult or Luciferian practices?
- 2:45:41Did Darren Evans just make it up and did thousands of people find
- 2:45:45it interesting enough to make up their own stories and partake in
- 2:45:50a mass charade that has lasted years?
- 2:45:53All of these answers may never truly be known, but my opinion
- 2:45:57is this I think not only given the wide array of strange
- 2:46:02coincidences and details throughout history.
- 2:46:06From the origins to the stories of this creature existing in
- 2:46:09distant past to the present, to literally thousands of people.
- 2:46:15From casual interests in the occult to more hardcore
- 2:46:19fanatics, religious scholars, demonologists, and more claiming
- 2:46:26to have had experiences with this thing.
- 2:46:28With all of these details in mind, I certainly think it very
- 2:46:33well could be real. I do think there are things that
- 2:46:36exist in the shadows, things we can't see or touch that are
- 2:46:41there watching and waiting to strike when and if the
- 2:46:47opportunity presents itself. So my advice to all of you to
- 2:46:52avoid any possibility of opening a door that you can't close and
- 2:46:57inviting evil into your life is this.
- 2:47:01Don't mess with Ouija boards. These things are not toys.
- 2:47:06Whether you believe it or not, these entities do exist and they
- 2:47:10believe in you. So keep away from them, because
- 2:47:15you might just let something in that won't want to leave even if
- 2:47:19you say goodbye. Lying dormant within the streets
- 2:47:30of suburbia, there is an unseen evil.
- 2:47:34Like a mouse falling into a pit of snakes, an unsuspecting
- 2:47:38family disturbed a slumbering force and became enshrouded in a
- 2:47:44fog of darkness. This is the untold story of the
- 2:47:49Bel Air House and the terrifying malevolent entities that dwell
- 2:47:54within its walls. Bellaire, OH, an area rich in
- 2:48:01history, was once known as Glass City.
- 2:48:05Having once been a major glass production hub in the late 1800s
- 2:48:11is now known as the All American town, having been used in many
- 2:48:15Hollywood productions as a backdrop for lots of movies,
- 2:48:20some of which you've probably seen over the years.
- 2:48:24The town that epitomizes small America's daily life has long
- 2:48:28since moved past its industrial days and has become known for
- 2:48:33something else. On the outskirts of the town
- 2:48:36lies an old two-story Victorian home that has become famous over
- 2:48:41the recent years, both among locals as well as across the
- 2:48:46country, with some saying it could be the most haunted place
- 2:48:50in the United States, if not the world.
- 2:48:54This is a bold statement to say the least, but the countless
- 2:48:58visitors to the house have reported strange, disturbing,
- 2:49:02and unexplainable encounters within its antique walls.
- 2:49:07But just how did the story begin?
- 2:49:09Where did the legend of the Bel Air House originate from?
- 2:49:13Let us first take a look at the home's dark history.
- 2:49:17Built in 1887 by a coal tycoon named Jacob Hetherington, the
- 2:49:23house sits adjacent from ancient Native American burial caves.
- 2:49:29It is also located where the scene of a massacre took place
- 2:49:33during the French and Indian War.
- 2:49:36It would sit on top of an active coal mine for years before there
- 2:49:42was a major explosion that took place within the mine, killing
- 2:49:46multiple men working deep within the earth directly underneath
- 2:49:50the house. Could the culmination of these
- 2:49:53tragic deaths have opened up a portal within the Bel Air house?
- 2:49:58A portal that allowed something to come through that wasn't
- 2:50:02supposed to be here? Shortly after this explosion is
- 2:50:06when the strange activity began. Jacob's son Alex moved into the
- 2:50:11home with his daughter. Lied, but was soon stricken with
- 2:50:15seizures and hallucinations. He would ultimately be committed
- 2:50:20to an insane asylum for the rest of his life, claiming that
- 2:50:25demons were trying to kill him. As time progressed, Lyde would
- 2:50:30take charge of the family business, being helped by her
- 2:50:34younger brother Edwin. Lyde would tragically and
- 2:50:38unexpectedly pass away. 1 morning and the kitchen of the
- 2:50:42home. Edwin, now alone and grief
- 2:50:46stricken, descended into mysticism and the occult in
- 2:50:50search of answers. He began to regularly host
- 2:50:54seances in the kitchen where his sister had passed away to
- 2:50:59attempt to make contact with her on the other side, and it is
- 2:51:03believed that contact was indeed made, but with who or what is
- 2:51:10uncertain. In 2005, Kristen Lee and her
- 2:51:14family are desperate for a new home.
- 2:51:18Like a curse, for the second time in less than two years, a
- 2:51:22flash flood has destroyed their home and all of their
- 2:51:26possessions. Kristen, her two sons, Nicholas
- 2:51:30and Lane, along with their father Hefe, have been fortunate
- 2:51:34enough to room with friends during this difficult time.
- 2:51:38Kristen has continued to try and get the family back on their
- 2:51:41feet and no longer wants to burden her friends with the
- 2:51:45boarding of her family. So she constantly checks the
- 2:51:49real estate listings hoping to find a home that her and her
- 2:51:53family can finally settle down into.
- 2:51:56Given the circumstances, the family didn't have a big budget
- 2:52:00and would have to rebuild their lives from scratch.
- 2:52:04But soon her determination seems to pay off.
- 2:52:08While at work, Kristen often browses real estate websites for
- 2:52:12new listings as well as foreclosures and a new listing
- 2:52:17soon catches her eye. Recently foreclosed on but now
- 2:52:22available for purchase, she lays eyes on the old Victorian home
- 2:52:26for the first time. It's 4 bedrooms and two bathroom
- 2:52:30setup along with plenty of room would be perfect for her family.
- 2:52:35The price seems almost too good to be true for her budget as
- 2:52:39well, and although the listing lacks more details, it's like
- 2:52:44her prayers had finally been answered.
- 2:52:47But by what? Not wanting to lose the
- 2:52:50property, Kristen arranges a showing of the home as soon as
- 2:52:54possible and before too long finds herself on the front steps
- 2:52:59of the Bel Air house. She is immediately taken in by
- 2:53:04the beautiful craftsmanship of the woodwork.
- 2:53:07The wrap around porch facing the Ohio River soon has her
- 2:53:11imagining peaceful evenings watching the water flow.
- 2:53:15Upon entering the home, she continues to be impressed.
- 2:53:20Old marble and cherry wood ordain the interior of the home
- 2:53:24and it seems almost too perfect, like something straight out of
- 2:53:28her dreams. The family also has a dog named
- 2:53:32Bella, and the large fenced in backyard is perfect for her to
- 2:53:36run in and the boys to play in. Dumbfounded by her luck, Kristen
- 2:53:42puts in an offer on the House that evening and it's accepted
- 2:53:46the following morning. After two years of chaos and
- 2:53:50uncertainty, the Lee family can finally breathe again and start
- 2:53:54living a normal life. But just as all seems quiet and
- 2:53:58settled, the family begins to discover that the house is
- 2:54:03anything but normal at first. Upon hearing odd noises in the
- 2:54:08night, the family wrote off the sounds as nothing more than
- 2:54:12anxiety and an old house. Being slightly scared or anxious
- 2:54:16upon moving into a new place, particularly following a very
- 2:54:20uncertain time in one's life, is not out of the ordinary.
- 2:54:24But these sounds soon become too much to dismiss.
- 2:54:28They soon begin to hear footsteps at all hours of the
- 2:54:31day and night. Kristen would later describe the
- 2:54:34activity as so. I would hear footsteps above and
- 2:54:37sometimes below me, even when there was no one else home but
- 2:54:41me. And I always felt as if there
- 2:54:44were thousands of eyes staring at me at all times, watching my
- 2:54:49every move. Along with the strange noises,
- 2:54:53items soon begin to go missing. From keys to towels to trinkets.
- 2:54:591 moment they would be there and within seconds they would
- 2:55:03vanish. And Kristen isn't the only one
- 2:55:06experiencing strange happenings within the Bel Air house at the
- 2:55:10time. Her 12 year old son Nicholas
- 2:55:12begins to experience a malevolent force that seems to
- 2:55:16dwell within his bedroom. At first, he too begins to feel
- 2:55:21as if he's being watched at all times, and it seems to get
- 2:55:25exponentially worse at night. He begins to have night terrors,
- 2:55:30feeling someone or something covering his mouth and nose,
- 2:55:34forcing him to suffocate. One night, he wakes up in a cold
- 2:55:39sweat. It's storming outside.
- 2:55:42Flashes of lightning occasionally light up the room.
- 2:55:46What he sees disturbs him to his core.
- 2:55:51In the corner of his room towards his closet.
- 2:55:54As a burst of light fills the room, he sees a blackened figure
- 2:55:59staring at him and shaking profusely.
- 2:56:04The young boy is utterly terrified, rushing out of his
- 2:56:08room as fast as he possibly can. He wakes up his mother and
- 2:56:12refuses to sleep there any longer.
- 2:56:15The boy is so hysterical, the only solution was to send him to
- 2:56:20his grandmother's house, located 30 minutes away.
- 2:56:24What makes this case all the more compelling is that Kristen
- 2:56:28has a master's degree in psychology and works as a mental
- 2:56:32health physician. With this, her professional
- 2:56:36opinion of what Nicholas had experienced was initially
- 2:56:39contributed to stress and fatigue, both common factors
- 2:56:43that tend to make the human mind see and experience things that
- 2:56:47aren't really there. And these probably could explain
- 2:56:51many similar situations, and most would agree.
- 2:56:55However, Kristin's view would soon undergo A radical change
- 2:56:59after one terrifying experience of her own.
- 2:57:03After months of strange happenings within the home, it
- 2:57:07was now winter and the Lee family, still tied on finances,
- 2:57:12was sleeping in the basement near the fireplace to save money
- 2:57:16on the gas bill. Hefe was asleep in a recliner
- 2:57:21and Lane as well as Kristen were asleep on the wrap around couch
- 2:57:25located in the corner of the room.
- 2:57:28All seemed normal until Kristen was woken up by the feeling of
- 2:57:32the couch cushion being pressed down near her legs.
- 2:57:37She then found herself face to face with a terrifying figure of
- 2:57:41a man staring directly at her. She would later describe the
- 2:57:46encounter as So I woke up being face to face with this Gray
- 2:57:51figure of a man. He was translucent, almost like
- 2:57:55a mist, but the mist had features like a person.
- 2:58:01The face was completely emotionless and had dark sunken
- 2:58:05in eyes. Kristen asked who are you?
- 2:58:09What are you doing here? What do you want?
- 2:58:13But to no response, just a blank, lifeless stare.
- 2:58:19Within seconds the apparition disappears, but before she can
- 2:58:24ponder what had just taken place, the silence is once again
- 2:58:28shattered. But by this time it was the
- 2:58:31family dog, Bella, who was barking and running around the
- 2:58:35room. Kristen, attempting to keep her
- 2:58:38family asleep through the ordeal, tries to quiet the dog
- 2:58:42down and notices that she can see her breath in the air, and
- 2:58:47although it's cold outside, it's not nearly that cold near the
- 2:58:50fireplace. She then sees the figure
- 2:58:54materialize once more and silently moved from one side of
- 2:58:58the room and through the wall on the other side, vanishing
- 2:59:02completely. No longer wanting to face
- 2:59:05whatever this was alone, she woke up her husband and told him
- 2:59:10what had just taken place. His response, however, was that
- 2:59:14she was too tired and needed to go back to sleep.
- 2:59:19Could what Kristen had experienced been a stress or
- 2:59:22fatigue induced hallucination? Perhaps, but someone with a
- 2:59:27professional background such as herself surely would know how to
- 2:59:31differentiate, wouldn't you think?
- 2:59:35Finally, knowing she's not crazy and totally convinced that the
- 2:59:38home was haunted, Kristen begins to try and make plans to get her
- 2:59:43family out of the Bel Air house and to safety elsewhere.
- 2:59:49As soon as she can, she puts the home up for sale and moves the
- 2:59:53family to a nearby rental home. Although she's relieved to no
- 2:59:57longer physically be in the house, no one is buying it to
- 3:00:02try and cover expenses. She has no other choice other
- 3:00:05than to make the house a rental property.
- 3:00:08But almost as soon as the first family moves in, they move out.
- 3:00:13And this kick starts a revolving door of tenants seemingly stuck
- 3:00:18with the house. Kristen comes to the conclusion
- 3:00:21that no family will or should live there.
- 3:00:25So what should be done with a haunted property?
- 3:00:28Needing to make ends mean she comes up with a unique idea.
- 3:00:32She turns the home into an afterlife research property.
- 3:00:36This would allow various groups to come in conduct their own
- 3:00:39research on just what exactly was taking place within the Bel
- 3:00:44Air House. And the idea works.
- 3:00:48Soon groups from all over the United States and Canada are
- 3:00:52travelling to temporarily live within the home to conduct
- 3:00:56research. And from here we gain some more
- 3:01:00interesting stories, to say the least.
- 3:01:03One group, who calls themselves the Armchair Researchers from
- 3:01:07upstate New York, consists of two women, one being a birthing
- 3:01:12nurse and the other a nurse who works with dying patients.
- 3:01:17They found paranormal and afterlife research to be a
- 3:01:21natural extension of their day jobs for the last 15 years.
- 3:01:26After hearing about the Bel Air house, they soon find themselves
- 3:01:30driving to Ohio to investigate the phenomena for themselves.
- 3:01:35First impressions tend to go a long way, and the first
- 3:01:38impression the women got upon their arrival was very creepy.
- 3:01:43The home by this point was in a moderate state of decay.
- 3:01:47The fence that had once surrounded the backyard was
- 3:01:51mostly blown down, and the exterior of the home as well as
- 3:01:55the porch was weathered and rotting.
- 3:01:59But despite the odd feelings initially, they make their way
- 3:02:03inside now. At first they actually felt
- 3:02:06welcomed, almost invited in, greeted by the same cherry wood
- 3:02:11interior that has greeted everyone.
- 3:02:14But as soon as they set up their equipment and prepare for their
- 3:02:17stay, as day turns to night, there seems to be a shift in
- 3:02:22energy within the home. The shift went from warm and
- 3:02:26inviting to dark and ominous. Then began the noises, the
- 3:02:33banging footsteps and the moving of furniture.
- 3:02:38The ladies also noted the feeling of being watched
- 3:02:41everywhere they went while asking probing questions.
- 3:02:45As they wandered throughout the house, they would soon also
- 3:02:48witness strange lights in various parts of the home.
- 3:02:52And along with the lights, there soon also came full blown
- 3:02:56apparitions, all of which seem to be centered around the
- 3:03:00basement. And as the night progressed, so
- 3:03:03did their feelings of anxiety. While taking a short break and
- 3:03:08sitting down on one of the couches in the basement, the two
- 3:03:11heard what they described as a large crashing noise above them,
- 3:03:16as if someone or something had thrown a bookshelf across the
- 3:03:20house itself, shaking the entire home.
- 3:03:24Absolutely terrified and panicked, the women
- 3:03:28apprehensively made their way up the stairs and rushed out of the
- 3:03:31home as fast as they possibly could, leaving behind equipment
- 3:03:36and personal items they were too frightened to go back.
- 3:03:41Upon learning of what had taken place, Kristen wasn't at all
- 3:03:44surprised. Over the years, there have been
- 3:03:47dozens of teams of people who couldn't seem to last the night
- 3:03:51for one experience or another. People have been scratched,
- 3:03:55pushed down stairs, punched, bitten, and even in one instance
- 3:04:01thrown across the room by a violent and unseen force.
- 3:04:07Another noteworthy story comes from a team located locally
- 3:04:11there in Ohio. They have had the opportunity to
- 3:04:13visit the home and conduct investigations numerous times
- 3:04:17over the years, but their experience, in particular one
- 3:04:21night truly makes me question just what exactly haunts the Bel
- 3:04:25Air House. There was three of them this
- 3:04:29time and it was shortly after midnight when they made their
- 3:04:32way into the attic to continue their investigation.
- 3:04:36During their questioning, they seem to be getting direct
- 3:04:39interaction with something through their spirit box.
- 3:04:43Then towards the corner of the attic, a mist seemed to
- 3:04:47materialize coming up from the attic floor, slowly enveloping
- 3:04:52the group. Glancing down, they were now too
- 3:04:56stunned to speak. They saw what appeared to be
- 3:04:59thousands of black snake like creatures, Slytherin, over their
- 3:05:04feet and onto their legs. The creatures then began to form
- 3:05:09a figure standing in front of one of the attic windows, a
- 3:05:14creature of pure darkness that seemed to stare at them with
- 3:05:18thousands of tiny beady eyes. The crew, which consisted of two
- 3:05:25men and a woman, ran for their lives, descending the attic
- 3:05:29stairs as quickly as possible, leaving behind anything and
- 3:05:33everything that they had brought with them that wasn't located on
- 3:05:37their person and out of the home for good.
- 3:05:40All of these stories and experiences have led many to
- 3:05:43believe that the Bel Air House is some kind of magnet for
- 3:05:47paranormal activity. A magnet or a host to a portal
- 3:05:52for spirits, whether that portal was opened by the tragedy that
- 3:05:56took place within the mind that once existed below its
- 3:05:59foundation, or one that was open due to seances being conducted
- 3:06:05within the house on multiple occasions.
- 3:06:08But over the years, many different entities have been
- 3:06:11documented, from what appear to be human ghosts to perhaps
- 3:06:15something more sinister. One such entity goes by the name
- 3:06:20of Emily Davis. It is believed that Emily Davis
- 3:06:24was a child that drowned in the Ohio River that flows right by
- 3:06:28the home. Her room is allegedly the same
- 3:06:32room that Kristin's son Nicholas once stayed in.
- 3:06:36And besides the basement, it also seems to be a hotspot for
- 3:06:40paranormal activity. Through various investigations,
- 3:06:451's contact has been made and trust seems to be gained.
- 3:06:49People are often attacked, which have led many to believe that
- 3:06:53Emily isn't a child at all, but a demon.
- 3:06:58Perhaps it could be the same demonic creature that frightened
- 3:07:01Nicholas so bad that he moved out of the home.
- 3:07:05As previously mentioned, many investigators also have claimed
- 3:07:09to have some activity follow them home and even haunt their
- 3:07:13dreams, as if the house or the beings within the house are
- 3:07:19calling out to them to come back for one reason or another.
- 3:07:24Although many questions may never be answered surrounding
- 3:07:28the Bel Air House, one thing is for certain, it continues to be
- 3:07:32considered one of the most haunted places in America, if
- 3:07:36not the world. It also continues to serve as a
- 3:07:40place of study for those wanting to investigate the supernatural
- 3:07:44forces that dwell within its walls.
- 3:07:48But if you find yourself being drawn to the old Victorian, just
- 3:07:53know that if you're not careful, you too could find yourself
- 3:07:56being made a part of its history, whether you like it or
- 3:08:01not. Over the years I've covered a
- 3:08:05wide array of mysteries from The Mothman to UFOs, conspiracies to
- 3:08:12cold cases, and one topic that seemed to resonate more with all
- 3:08:16of you, and one that I've always found fascinating is hauntings.
- 3:08:21Whether that's haunted places, haunted people, or experiences
- 3:08:26that people have had that they would consider paranormal in
- 3:08:29nature. So today I'm trying something
- 3:08:33new. And don't worry, this is adding
- 3:08:35content here on Mystery Archives, so there will still be
- 3:08:38episodes of The Untold Story for you to enjoy.
- 3:08:42Those just take a good chunk of time to produce.
- 3:08:44So in between those episodes, I'd really like to share stories
- 3:08:49from you guys, the community, to bring awareness that these kinds
- 3:08:53of experiences really do happen. And having grown up in a haunted
- 3:08:57home myself, I know that often times people are hesitant to
- 3:09:01share their stories for fear of ridicule or for fear of whatever
- 3:09:05they've experienced flaring up again and reigniting their
- 3:09:10personal nightmare. This platform will hopefully
- 3:09:13give their stories justice, have them heard, and give you a
- 3:09:17glimpse into what people like yourselves have experienced.
- 3:09:22These are your paranormal encounters when a young family
- 3:09:30encounters the devil and the flesh.
- 3:09:33Told from the perspective of a young girl, this terrifying tale
- 3:09:37will have you questioning just what could be happening across
- 3:09:41the street from you, next door, or even in your very own home.
- 3:09:49I was almost 7 when these events took place and I'll be 40 later
- 3:09:53this year. I lived in the Glendale
- 3:09:56apartments in Rock Hill, SC. My baby brother at the time
- 3:10:01wasn't quite even a year old now.
- 3:10:04My mom was young when she had me at 17, and my stepdad Keith was
- 3:10:09exactly 2 months to the day older than her.
- 3:10:13My mom has been gone for 14 years now, but I still remember
- 3:10:17this day like it was yesterday. We had left to get dinner that
- 3:10:21night and by the time we had gotten back, Keith was passed
- 3:10:25out in the front seat of his little hatchback Mustang in the
- 3:10:28parking lot. This was the first of two that
- 3:10:31would find themselves wrapped around trees in my town.
- 3:10:34Keith was suffering from what would later be diagnosed as
- 3:10:38schizophrenia with bipolar tendencies and had seemingly
- 3:10:42been self medicating to alleviate his symptoms since he
- 3:10:47was asleep. My mom urged me not to wake him
- 3:10:51as I helped her get my infant brother at the time out of the
- 3:10:54car and into our apartment. As we began to wind down for the
- 3:10:58evening, our phone began to ring, shattering the calm peace
- 3:11:04that was our lives. It was Keith's mom, Mary.
- 3:11:09She lived on the other side of the complex, which mostly housed
- 3:11:13old people and people with disabilities.
- 3:11:16She sounded panicked, screaming that something was happening in
- 3:11:20her apartment, that she needed help immediately.
- 3:11:24My mom rushed to go wake Keith up out in the parking lot, but
- 3:11:28upon running up to the car, he was nowhere to be found.
- 3:11:33She rushed back into our apartment saying that she
- 3:11:35couldn't find Keith when he suddenly appeared in the hallway
- 3:11:40and neither of us had seen him come into the apartment.
- 3:11:44He seemed completely out of it and was terrified, saying that
- 3:11:49something was taking him over and that he couldn't control
- 3:11:53himself. I saw his eyes, they were black.
- 3:11:59My mother didn't have time to deal with or process his antics
- 3:12:03and gathered us to walk to his mother's apartment.
- 3:12:05In the meantime, as we rushed over there as fast as we could,
- 3:12:10I remember getting a skin crawling feeling every time
- 3:12:13Keith looked at me, like it was something completely foreign to
- 3:12:16this world peering into my soul. We arrived and we're quickly let
- 3:12:22into Mary's apartment. Her lights were flickering and
- 3:12:26her pictures were swaying back and forth on the walls.
- 3:12:30A heavy presence could be felt by all of us.
- 3:12:34Mary was deeply religious and couldn't understand just what
- 3:12:37was taking place, but she believed it to be evil.
- 3:12:41Keith was now standing in the living room and began to sway
- 3:12:45back and forth as the activity seemed to intensify.
- 3:12:50As my mother approached him to ask what he was doing, he began
- 3:12:54to laugh. This was the deepest most
- 3:12:57maniacal laugh I have ever heard and I still get chose thinking
- 3:13:02about it. This voice was not his own.
- 3:13:06My mother quickly backed up unsure of what to do and he then
- 3:13:10began to point at me saying I'm going to sacrifice that child
- 3:13:15tonight. His eyes were now blood red.
- 3:13:20Mary by this time had grabbed some of her belongings from her
- 3:13:24room and happened to have some blessed oil along with her
- 3:13:27Bible. She threw the oil on Keith's
- 3:13:30face and it began to boil. The sound of sizzling and
- 3:13:35screaming was horrific. My mother's love for Keith
- 3:13:40quickly overpowered her fear and she pulled him into the bathroom
- 3:13:43to examine his face. She was freaking out to say the
- 3:13:47least, partially because of how unbelievable the circumstances
- 3:13:52were and just how badly he was burnt on his face.
- 3:13:57His eyes at this point were rolled into the back of his
- 3:14:00head. Then suddenly, without warning,
- 3:14:04he rushed my mom and pinned her against the wall.
- 3:14:08His younger sister, Nikki and his mother quickly rushed in to
- 3:14:12help free her, with Mary dumping more oil on him each time.
- 3:14:18His skin literally sizzled where it landed.
- 3:14:22This fortunately worked. Keith now laid catatonic on the
- 3:14:26bathroom floor so all together as girls moved him into a nearby
- 3:14:31bedroom and restrained him to the bed using anything we could
- 3:14:35find for our own safety. Shortly after we did this, his
- 3:14:40mother called the nearby oratory and asked for a priest to assist
- 3:14:44us immediately. Nikki, who was a teenager at the
- 3:14:48time, was trying to comfort me, telling me that Keith was just
- 3:14:52really sick and not to be scared.
- 3:14:56She encouraged me to try and get some sleep and I of course
- 3:14:59couldn't and wouldn't. I didn't dare close my eyes for
- 3:15:04fear of that thing hurting my mom.
- 3:15:07And this room with Keith was a picture of Jesus kneeling on top
- 3:15:11of a mountain. I heard Keith laughing in that
- 3:15:15other worldly voice. He called out to me.
- 3:15:19He said, you know, little girl, I used to be an Angel with the
- 3:15:23most beautiful wings until that bastard was born.
- 3:15:28Then I was cast from atop that mountain and banished.
- 3:15:34I asked who are you, the devil? He perked up, looked me dead in
- 3:15:40my eyes and said I am Lucifer, the light bringer here in the
- 3:15:46flesh. I'm not only taking Keith with
- 3:15:49me, but all of you as well. Now untie me.
- 3:15:55I ran hysterically to my mother who was having a cigarette to
- 3:15:58calm her nerves. She ran into the room to comfort
- 3:16:01him when he said do you want to see proof?
- 3:16:05And against her will, my mother then extinguished the cigarette
- 3:16:09into his arm with Keith exclaiming it feels so good.
- 3:16:14You'll have to adjust to the searing flames, but in due time
- 3:16:19you too will call it home. She then rushed out of the room
- 3:16:24and closed the door. We waited with bated breath for
- 3:16:27the priest to arrive when shortly after 3:00 AM there was
- 3:16:31a knock on the door. Thank God it was him.
- 3:16:35For the next several hours they attempted to cast this thing out
- 3:16:38of Keith, probably for the best. They kept me in the living room,
- 3:16:43away from the demonic terror that was inhabiting his body.
- 3:16:47But my God, the smells that wafted throughout the complex
- 3:16:52like putrid meat, then sulfur. I soon also heard moaning and
- 3:16:58growling from dogs that didn't exist.
- 3:17:03There was a strange fog that had enveloped the apartment itself,
- 3:17:07and a strange flickering light that now emanated from the room
- 3:17:12where the exorcism was taking place.
- 3:17:15I began to close my eyes and pray to God harder than I'd ever
- 3:17:19prayed before, wanting and wishing for all of it to end,
- 3:17:25when suddenly it did. Keith had seemingly been freed
- 3:17:29of these spiritual shackles, and although I was terrified, I was
- 3:17:34more than wanting to finally get some sleep.
- 3:17:38So after the priest departed and all seemed fine, we slowly made
- 3:17:42our way back home through the damp misty morning that was now
- 3:17:47upon us. Upon arriving home and heading
- 3:17:50inside, we all began to make our way to our bedrooms to try and
- 3:17:55sleep. I found myself in my bed, comfy
- 3:18:00and finally about to rest when I felt my bed shake.
- 3:18:05I quickly opened my eyes to find my bed off the floor and my
- 3:18:09bedpost balls screwed off each one in the corner of each post
- 3:18:15floating there. I screamed harder than I've ever
- 3:18:19screamed before, alerting my mother who rushed to save me.
- 3:18:24Upon her running in, my bed suddenly slammed to the ground
- 3:18:28and my bed post balls all fell to the floor.
- 3:18:33The events of that night and the following morning can never be
- 3:18:36forgotten by me and my family. For the next year and a half, we
- 3:18:40dealt with similar smells wafting throughout our
- 3:18:42apartment, unseen snarls and growls, and a feeling of anxiety
- 3:18:49as if our every move was being watched.
- 3:18:52But thank God it all eventually faded.
- 3:18:56I had since asked Keith how he came to be in that state, but I
- 3:19:00could never really get a clear answer.
- 3:19:03He often drank moonshine and was in a bad state mentally and
- 3:19:07spiritually at the time. Perhaps this weakened him enough
- 3:19:10to let something in somehow. I've since moved on from that
- 3:19:15place, but heard something very interesting that I'd also like
- 3:19:19to share in regards to him. This was the apartment we lived
- 3:19:22in, and a young boy mysteriously passed away within it not too
- 3:19:26long ago. The details of the case are hard
- 3:19:29to find, but I believe he was about as old as I was when
- 3:19:33everything had taken place to us.
- 3:19:36There has also been multiple shootings, stabbings, and
- 3:19:39murders that have taken place near and in the complex itself.
- 3:19:44It seems like whatever possessed Keith and stalked us maybe never
- 3:19:50truly left. I'm glad to share my story with
- 3:19:53all of you and I just want you to know that these things are
- 3:19:56very real. The paranormal is real and
- 3:20:01please do not meddle with it because you just don't know what
- 3:20:05you could be inviting in this energy, this evil.
- 3:20:10Wanted my soul and it seems like it may have taken multiple lives
- 3:20:16and pursuit of whatever nefarious things it wanted.
- 3:20:22Leia. I would like to thank Leia for
- 3:20:26submitting this chilling story of an exorcism that took place
- 3:20:30to her stepfather when she was a child.
- 3:20:33The entire situation must have been terrifying to endure, to
- 3:20:37say the least, and I commend her for being willing to share this
- 3:20:41with us and warn others that these things are very real
- 3:20:45indeed. I also believe it's important to
- 3:20:48bring awareness to these kinds of topics for a number of
- 3:20:52reasons. I am curious just how Keith
- 3:20:55became possessed, however, and if it was truly by Lucifer
- 3:20:59himself or something pretending to be him.
- 3:21:03All around a terrifying tale from Leia.
- 3:21:09Upon laying her head down to sleep, a young woman is
- 3:21:13seemingly transported to another time or place where she
- 3:21:18interacts with malevolent spirits.
- 3:21:21This one may just make you wonder if the very same has ever
- 3:21:25happened to you. One hot Saturday morning in
- 3:21:292001, my ex-husband Dean and I went to the grocery store.
- 3:21:35By the time we returned home and put everything away, it was
- 3:21:39almost noon. I prepared some lunch for us and
- 3:21:43by two PMI announced that the heat had made me feel so very
- 3:21:47tired and that I would need to lie down.
- 3:21:50Dean would go on to watch TV with the volume on low, and I
- 3:21:54closed the bedroom door as soon as my head hit the pillow.
- 3:21:58I went out like a light. Then in what seemed like only 5
- 3:22:02minutes later I was woken up by a lady speaking beside my bed.
- 3:22:08It was if she was addressing another person but yet in a
- 3:22:12crystal clear voice across the room she said something along
- 3:22:16the lines of don't disturb her, let her sleep.
- 3:22:21This startled me. I immediately sat up in my bed
- 3:22:25and I looked around but saw nothing.
- 3:22:28I knew I wasn't dreaming as the voice was real and yet spoke at
- 3:22:32an audible enough level even to wake me up.
- 3:22:35Regardless whether a dream or real, I was too exhausted and
- 3:22:40quickly fell asleep again. Now this is where things took a
- 3:22:44stranger turn. I felt my soul leave my body.
- 3:22:49It rose up to where the wall met the ceiling.
- 3:22:52I crossed through the wall and into another place in time.
- 3:22:56I was no longer within my home but found myself in a scene from
- 3:23:01the 18th century. It was similar to watching a
- 3:23:05black and white film, but in varying Shades of Grey.
- 3:23:09I saw a few people who were extravagantly dressed and wore
- 3:23:13coiffed and powdered wigs, sitting on a plush Steven and
- 3:23:17some armchairs. They sat almost motionless by a
- 3:23:21small low lying table. Only the woman slowly looked
- 3:23:25about, but nobody seemed to notice me.
- 3:23:29I looked to my left and saw a couple standing still, arms held
- 3:23:34in an arch above in the air, hands touching, poised, as if
- 3:23:40waiting for music to start for their dance.
- 3:23:44I looked past them and saw a few men, one at each small table,
- 3:23:49just sitting quietly and motionless.
- 3:23:53Then I looked to my right, past the few people I initially saw
- 3:23:58and looked in awe at the sight before me.
- 3:24:00I realized I was in a vast hall as far as the eye could see.
- 3:24:05I saw no other people, and the next thing I knew I was back in
- 3:24:10my body, seemingly asleep, yet aware of my surroundings.
- 3:24:17I was made aware of the large crowd of people outside of my
- 3:24:20bedroom door. The sound was similar to what
- 3:24:23you would hear in a crowded bar, many people talking amongst
- 3:24:27themselves. However, there was one woman's
- 3:24:30voice that could be heard slightly above the rest of the
- 3:24:33crowd. I didn't pay it any special
- 3:24:36attention as I wasn't focusing on anyone in particular, nor
- 3:24:40catch what she had said. And what was only a moment
- 3:24:43later, that same voice was louder and closer, this time
- 3:24:48just on the other side of my bedroom door.
- 3:24:51Although I paid a little more attention now, what she said was
- 3:24:55still indiscernible, and the voice was yet to be one that I
- 3:25:00recognized. A voice belonging to a stranger.
- 3:25:04And what seemed just another moment again, she opened the
- 3:25:07door, stepped into my room, and then shut the door behind her.
- 3:25:12I laid frozen in my bed, unable to move, yet I felt real terror
- 3:25:18at this point, although I couldn't move at all, my eyes
- 3:25:21were fixed at top of the wall. Somehow, with my mind's eye, I
- 3:25:26saw her. It was my mother who had passed
- 3:25:29away 21 years earlier. She wore a long white shroud,
- 3:25:33which I never got to see her in, but I knew that she had been
- 3:25:37buried in one by now. I was totally terrified.
- 3:25:42I wanted to scream out for help. Better still to get out of
- 3:25:46there, but I wasn't able to move a muscle.
- 3:25:50I watched my mother pace to and fro past the foot of my bed in
- 3:25:55absolute rage. She was so angry with me.
- 3:25:59She was literally spitting mad while she was scolding me.
- 3:26:03Never had I seen her this angry. The one thing I did notice once
- 3:26:08my mother's spirit had entered the room was that while my eyes
- 3:26:11were fixed near the ceiling, it was within my range of sight
- 3:26:15that I'd seen a soft white gashes ball of light appear to
- 3:26:20my right at the corner of the ceiling.
- 3:26:23It was about the size of a basketball, though not quite as
- 3:26:26spherical. It was so very slow moving, like
- 3:26:30a swirl of white smoke within itself.
- 3:26:33Somehow I felt like it was protecting me from this evil,
- 3:26:36like a guardian Angel. Once my mother was done raging
- 3:26:40at me, she faced the door and held the door slightly open.
- 3:26:45She paused and told me that I'd be dead by midnight tonight.
- 3:26:50She then shut the door behind her and left.
- 3:26:54As soon as she was out the door, the ball of light had dissipated
- 3:26:57too and I felt instant relief. I looked at the clock and it was
- 3:27:03now 3:00 PM. All of this strangeness took
- 3:27:06place in the space of 1 terrifying hour.
- 3:27:10I still don't know if that was the spirit of my mother or
- 3:27:14something evil imitating her. All I know is that I jumped out
- 3:27:17of bed and rushed to the lounge room, telling Dean what I had
- 3:27:21seen. Though I didn't mention my
- 3:27:24mother's parting words, Dean wasn't remotely interested.
- 3:27:29He only mumbled as I interrupted him watching his program.
- 3:27:32Well, that was the end of the nap I wasn't quite able to get.
- 3:27:36As evening approached, I constantly glanced at my watch.
- 3:27:40Although we retired for the day at about 10:00 PM that night, I
- 3:27:44was fearful yet resigned in my fate.
- 3:27:47I hadn't told the soul about my mother's message in case it
- 3:27:51tempted fate. On waking the next morning, I
- 3:27:54couldn't have felt more relieved and thrilled to still be alive
- 3:27:58now that it felt safe to do so. I told Dean and later my
- 3:28:02neighbor about it all. They showed me the goosebumps on
- 3:28:05their arms and expressed fear as I recounted my experience.
- 3:28:10This was 22 years ago and I still think of that day and the
- 3:28:14sheer terror that it brought me. It's a day that I can never
- 3:28:18forget. Johanna.
- 3:28:22That story was chilling. Johanna.
- 3:28:24I too am curious if it was some kind of spirit impersonating
- 3:28:28your mother or if it was somehow her.
- 3:28:31The detail of what she was wearing also happened to be what
- 3:28:34she was buried in. Literally gave me goosebumps.
- 3:28:39So thank you so much for sharing your story and continuing to
- 3:28:42bring awareness to these topics. A young man seemingly interacts
- 3:28:48with his grandmother who has long since passed away, but he
- 3:28:53isn't the only one that sees and feels her presence.
- 3:28:59This was in reference to watching one of my videos.
- 3:29:03Watching this video reminded me of something that's been going
- 3:29:06on in my house. My wife's grandmother died
- 3:29:09before we got together and her son was the last person in the
- 3:29:13hospital room with her when she passed.
- 3:29:17Now, my work schedule varies, but generally I'm up between
- 3:29:213:00 and 4:00 AM every day. Sometimes I feel a presence or I
- 3:29:27thought I saw what was a shadow and my peripheral vision.
- 3:29:31I finally told my wife about this a while back and she
- 3:29:35proceeded to tell me that her autistic son regularly speaks to
- 3:29:39his deceased grandmother. We've both spoken to him
- 3:29:43multiple times and apparently she visits him constantly.
- 3:29:48My wife admitted that she's seen her in our house a couple of
- 3:29:51times as well. I've offered to have the house
- 3:29:54cleansed, but my wife said no. Apparently his grandmother
- 3:29:58visits him all the time and watches over him and he's
- 3:30:02admitted that he still sees her. He's autistic, so he's very
- 3:30:07honest with everything. I'd like your guys's input about
- 3:30:11this. Thank you caveman.
- 3:30:16Well, caveman especially since he's autistic.
- 3:30:19That really does convince me of his sincerity and honesty.
- 3:30:23The young man clearly doesn't have a motivation to gain
- 3:30:25anything by saying this. And when you have felt this
- 3:30:29presence, is it as she was in life?
- 3:30:33Is it more of a benevolent energy or something else?
- 3:30:37It's also very interesting that your wife has seen her on
- 3:30:40multiple occasions as well. Perhaps she is watching over her
- 3:30:44grandson. Children often have an extra
- 3:30:47sense it seems like, to be able to interact with the spirit
- 3:30:51world. Reading your story reminded me
- 3:30:54of when my brother was younger and we had a very similar
- 3:30:57situation. My mom's father, Paul, had
- 3:31:01passed away in their family home in 2002, when my brother was
- 3:31:05just two years old. Prior to his passing, Paul
- 3:31:10seemed to be motioning for things to go away, things that
- 3:31:14we couldn't see, perhaps trying to state that he wasn't ready to
- 3:31:18go yet. Several months after his
- 3:31:20passing, with my grandmother Agnes still inhabiting the very
- 3:31:24same house, my brother Kaden had started to interact with
- 3:31:28something that we couldn't see. He would often play around the
- 3:31:32living room, which was the same room my grandfather passed away
- 3:31:36in. One day when he was in a full
- 3:31:39conversation with this person, my mother asked him who he was
- 3:31:43talking to and he said Grandpa Paul.
- 3:31:47It took the very breath out of her lungs.
- 3:31:51These interactions were fairly frequent until he was about four
- 3:31:54or five years old. The name suddenly went away one
- 3:31:58day. It truly makes one beg the
- 3:32:01question, just how often do our loved ones truly watch over us?
- 3:32:06Thanks for sharing this one, Caveman.
- 3:32:09Thank you all for watching. If you'd like to hear more

- 3:32:21If you're new here, as I mentioned in the beginning of
- 3:32:24this video, I think it's very important to bring awareness to
- 3:32:28the paranormal question. It, in a sense, is the ultimate
- 3:32:31question in my opinion. What truly happens when we pass
- 3:32:35through the veil of this reality and into the afterlife?
- 3:32:40I appreciate all of you as always.
- 3:32:42I hope all of you are doing well mentally, physically, and
- 3:32:46spiritually. And I hope your year is heading
- 3:32:49in a vibrant and positive direction, and I wish you all
- 3:32:52nothing but the best. Until next time, this has been
