- 0:08Speaker 1: Hey, welcome back to the North Florida Sports Network.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We're coming out to you live early on January 2nd.
- 0:17Speaker 1: It's the playoff called full playoff reaction show.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It's a good thing they did.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Yeah, how are you feeling?
- 0:27Speaker 2: ESPN.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Right.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Both one loss.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Teams lost two games now.
- 0:33Speaker 2: There you go.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Good thing you didn't put a team with a backup quarterback in right, right, right Washington.
- 0:42Speaker 1: With the big win over Texas, michigan and an ugly game, beat Alabama and you have your national championship there you go, man Two undefeated teams, at least.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Wow, yeah they deserved it.
- 1:00Speaker 2: There you go.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I mean, they didn't think Washington would beat Oregon.
- 1:04Speaker 2: No man, they got.
- 1:05Speaker 2: They got shit on for beating first time.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Right yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's right.
- 1:12Speaker 1: We're talking about that and because we're coming right from North Florida and I just don't want to hear anybody using the orange bowl for anything of an excuse to use any kind of state and it's mad about this.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Come on, man.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yeah, anybody, anybody, anybody that would use the orange bowl to try to make a statement yeah, even the coach, yeah Go ahead the 2023 team from Florida State.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Like if you watch the orange bowl and you judge the team based on that game, you're a moron or you've never played sports.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Right, it's either one or two or maybe a combination of both, right, and then then?
- 1:56Speaker 1: and then to like piggyback on it and then to say it's the culture or something.
- 2:01Speaker 1: It's just, it's just irresponsible, because it's not true.
- 2:05Speaker 1: You got a team that opted in to play the cheese at bowl.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, to win 10 games after being at the depths.
- 2:13Speaker 1: The culture, you know the culture argument and then made it made a pack to come back and go on to feed it, for a chance to go to the playoff, only to be denied.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So God forbid they make out.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Do something that's best for their own personal well being.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I doubt that the program probably had no problem with it.
- 2:31Speaker 2: So after being an unprecedented move, but that's the people bringing up stuff like that culture.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Talking about you know the guys that it's called moving the goalposts?
- 2:42Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I'm a subject from what the real issue was Culture like the culture is that you have like 10 times more coaches than you know the team in the country.
- 2:51Speaker 1: You have the most support staff ever.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the culture that you have.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Is that what you're referring to?
- 2:57Speaker 1: Right Infrastructure?
- 2:59Speaker 1: Yeah, the infrastructure that you have.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and Alabama and Georgia paid for it.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Now it's funded by your TV networks.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And God forbid Florida State get mad or not or want to be like hey, there's no way that Mississippi State should be making as much.
- 3:13Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 3:14Speaker 1: Like, come on.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 1: But you know, michigan has beaten Alabama, washington has beaten Texas and since we last talked DJ, we as committed to Florida State.
- 3:31Speaker 2: So man so not it?
- 3:33Speaker 1: It's really some good news for no fans.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Today was was.
- 3:37Speaker 2: If you're no fan, it was an amusing Right.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Nice little day for you.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Right, just don't don't ever remember the 3rd of December.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Unless yeah.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I never forget it.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I get it if there's people out there at Florida State fans that are angry, that are like see, you know, and it's making them angry, but well, yeah they're going to.
- 3:56Speaker 1: People are going to come back right 63 to 3 score on a meaningless game.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not about that, it's about the heart of the game.
- 4:04Speaker 1: It's about with the fact that they said Washington was going to lose by double digits to Oregon.
- 4:09Speaker 1: You know, like they played, they play.
- 4:12Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if the hundred is zero.
- 4:14Speaker 1: What was right was right, and I think that this has answered the question.
- 4:19Speaker 1: It's not about the best.
- 4:20Speaker 1: What was wrong about this playoff thing was the subjectivity of it.
- 4:26Speaker 2: What I think the biggest thing is that, um, what this this proves is that nobody really knows what the best team right Looks like.
- 4:35Speaker 2: You know, until they play the game right.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Anybody in a in a studio, or anybody in a little dark room that's got their laptop right, you know, or a group of them, say a committee of them, I think they know what the best team looks like by judging them on, you know, appearance.
- 4:55Speaker 2: You know other games that they've played before they play each other that you can't do it.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah, nobody gave Washington any credit For beating Oregon the first time.
- 5:07Speaker 2: This I mean.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Willie Taggart didn't even offer Michael Peenix a scholarship right, yeah, yeah, no, there's an again you know, this guy's been doubting his whole life, exactly, exactly, and you know I was a little bit upset that Washington was one of the teams that was just automatically in just for going undefeated, right.
- 5:30Speaker 1: You know but?
- 5:31Speaker 1: But they keep winning and it wasn't a key winning.
- 5:34Speaker 1: It was not upset at those teams, it's upset at the narrative used to drive them right.
- 5:39Speaker 2: It's just because it doesn't apply.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Nobody thought Washington was gonna, was gonna beat Texas.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sorry, go ahead.
- 5:47Speaker 1: No, no, go ahead I was just gonna say instead what you do on on a game which we just saw that should have been Washington versus Florida State, which I I really think they would have been a good game.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I really do.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and it doesn't matter.
- 6:04Speaker 1: It doesn't matter.
- 6:04Speaker 1: It should have been that way.
- 6:05Speaker 1: You shouldn't have had that many opt-outs Because you gave a one-loss team a chance who clearly didn't deserve it.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Sorry, alabama, shouldn't have been in.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Well, I don't, I yeah.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I mean that.
- 6:20Speaker 2: I mean, I think you just you take your pick between one of the one-loss teams.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Georgia should have been.
- 6:24Speaker 1: If you want to say best teams, that just shows you that best teams is stupid, because football is great because of it's deserved, it's earned.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Yeah you know what I mean.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Like it's not the best, it's not, otherwise it'd be done by GM's on a scouting combine.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Well, when then we would grade it out and it would be the freaking draft every year on the field.
- 6:45Speaker 1: So like, get out of here with that and just shut up if that's what you're gonna say.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So they couldn't you know Georgia.
- 6:54Speaker 2: They used Different criteria to keep Georgia out of it.
- 6:58Speaker 2: They're like we don't, they don't.
- 7:00Speaker 2: You know, we can't justify putting them in.
- 7:02Speaker 1: They don't deserve it.
- 7:03Speaker 1: They lost it.
- 7:04Speaker 1: They're clearly yeah, it had nothing to do with best.
- 7:07Speaker 1: No, I didn't.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Georgia, no, had to do best when it came to what teams they wanted to use it on.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Right right teams that deserved it Weren't the best right, you know teams that did deserve it were the best.
- 7:19Speaker 2: So the most impressive win of the season, regardless of what happens in this next game, will still be Alabama beating Georgia.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Like that, that's the most impressive win by any team this season.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Right, alabama beating Georgia, that's one game.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it's one game, you know so.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I think it's supposed to be based on a season and this is a season where they benched Jalen Monroe, jalen Rowan you kind of saw that with the team prepared for him.
- 7:49Speaker 1: He's like a glorified Wildcat quarterback back there.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Right, he definitely.
- 7:54Speaker 2: He definitely has some, some limitations and you saw more of that Rear Ted.
- 7:59Speaker 2: You know they the last five, six weeks for Alabama They've really been able to scheme up and and hide a lot of that and just play to his strengths.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Right, you know, like you said, with a month to prepare, jesse mentored the DC over at Michigan.
- 8:17Speaker 2: He did a really good job of keeping it up and you saw what Jalen Milrow is is Exceptional, that and that's running right and he gets his hands open field and come back and get better, but not a quarterback that hasn't lost.
- 8:31Speaker 1: He doesn't get a chance to come up and help his brother they got hurt.
- 8:33Speaker 1: And you know like right, well it, and then you cause, and then and then you get the co.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I just can't no, you can't.
- 8:42Speaker 2: You just trying to make sense of all the words that they use to explain Actions which explain the action of that committee.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it was just not so if they like.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I would be 100% Agreeing with all of them if they would have made the playoff and then all the players opted out for some reason.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Yeah, but have you been around the team if you knew the whole reason behind this team?
- 9:05Speaker 1: I mean nobody dating back to the last season, and you would shut up and nobody like, damn, that's just tragic.
- 9:12Speaker 1: What happened?
- 9:12Speaker 2: Nobody who isn't an absolute imbecile actually believes that those players would have opted out if the team was in the playoff, right?
- 9:21Speaker 2: Nobody right?
- 9:23Speaker 2: They know it.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Well.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Anybody saying anything Otherwise is just trying to, you know, just show their ass.
- 9:28Speaker 2: That's Well, that was the way it goes.
- 9:31Speaker 1: It was a game that you probably thought you'd see, though in Michigan, alabama, it's kind of 20 to 20 over time, then 27, 20 Michigan was honestly expected Alabama to blow him out yeah well no.
- 9:46Speaker 2: And then the team.
- 9:47Speaker 2: The team that showed up for Alabama was more like the team that played exactly, exactly an arc.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Exactly because Alabama has the talent.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Yeah, they have more than anybody in the country, same as Georgia, right?
- 9:59Speaker 2: culture, that is, they have a few spots.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Do that, that they're very vulnerable, but and that's about what you do- on a season, yeah, who your best lineup is.
- 10:10Speaker 1: You're gonna play him and like, yeah, like, how do you know that the coach isn't Like resting guys throughout the whole season to prepare them for a playoff run?
- 10:19Speaker 1: I mean, you didn't give, you didn't give them a chance.
- 10:22Speaker 1: No, they deserve that.
- 10:24Speaker 1: If that, I think that's what's proved, I don't want to use the orange ball for anything because that's more it's like a choreographed dance to go wrong.
- 10:33Speaker 1: I don't a choreograph that game Pretty much.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I mean it's, it's.
- 10:38Speaker 2: It's a different team, right?
- 10:39Speaker 2: Right, you're trying to use it, so we, you were right.
- 10:44Speaker 1: You were right.
- 10:44Speaker 1: They got DJ we.
- 10:46Speaker 1: He's gonna be the quarterback next year.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I think that's a huge move for fsu.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Do you think they'll get another quarterback?
- 10:55Speaker 2: I Probably not like maybe a preferred walk-in, walk-on type.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Well, you got.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Brock Lane.
- 11:00Speaker 1: You got Luke Roman Hawk and then you got you got a Veteran, yeah, who's been through the battles, who has the talent, who can still, who still shown he's shown the ability to win, he's shown Top notch ability in certain points.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I remember him seeing him against fsu at dope, yeah.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I really well arguably his best game Right, so if you can maximize his potential, I think I really that's a good thing for this team.
- 11:27Speaker 2: It really is confidence, hi.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I think I think the way Norvelle runs things you know the kind of guy Norvelle is is you know he'll keep the confidence up, keep the positivity flowing, and it's not gonna be.
- 11:40Speaker 2: You know it's DJ show right.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Nobody's gonna come in here and be like man.
- 11:45Speaker 2: You know you better watch it, dude Brock sniffing at your heels or losing it, it's you know, wait, they got time.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Yeah, he's gonna be a steady hand.
- 11:53Speaker 2: I don't expect Florida State to run off an undefeated season like they did this past year.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Right.
- 11:59Speaker 2: There's gonna be step backs.
- 12:01Speaker 2: You know steps back in certain spots on the team, but there's no reason to not think that they got an outside shot at.
- 12:09Speaker 2: It's a good step in the right direction.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Yeah, have that position.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Get somebody there with experience which has the body not to man.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I mean, this is guys built.
- 12:19Speaker 1: You know, this is a five-star Quarterback.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Who's on dr Pettis?
- 12:23Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got a real, he's got a real arm and that Real arm tickets, you know.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I love Jordan Travis.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Everything he did for Florida State continues to do, but but the arm talent between the two is night and day right and I'm gonna hopefully see some improvement on Vision and his anticipation, and he does have a tendency to throw some bad interceptions.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's what.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Jordan Travis.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Improve on the most right time here was his efficiency and Hopefully, if you're an FSU fan, you can see this coaching staff.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Try to do that with DJ next year.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Maybe make him more efficient, more productive and use his strengths and and kind of just.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Be able to just sometimes throw it away or just go down.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Right middle, middle of the field.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Man right middle of the field used a middle of the field.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Right, you got enough zip on the ball to.
- 13:22Speaker 2: If they can, you can just get a little bit of chemistry with with whatever ever receivers were trying out there.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, it's big man.
- 13:32Speaker 2: You did not want to get left right holding your your pud like some other teams did.
- 13:37Speaker 2: You know there's other spots to fill with with the transfer portal.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we know that yeah defense is something that we talked about.
- 13:46Speaker 2: That lot of moving parts, oh.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's late you gotta get out of here.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Yeah, man good to see 200 feet of teams in the championship.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I said I wanted to watch it.
- 13:59Speaker 2: There's no hate on.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Texas or Alabama.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I didn't really.
- 14:02Speaker 2: No, it's not.
- 14:03Speaker 2: There's really not at all.
- 14:04Speaker 2: There's not a hate on any of them, any of the fans.
- 14:05Speaker 1: They're a great program.
- 14:07Speaker 2: It's a hate for the network that owns your conference.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Right, and not even I mean, I don't even know that, I just don't like the decision to put whoever is responsible for the decision.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I know it, it's ESPN, it does seem kind of odd that you'd lead the show.
- 14:22Speaker 1: It's ESPN.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Like saying that that's just not even Mitzkwurz, it's ESPN.
- 14:25Speaker 2: I don't care if people call me crazy or conspiracy theorist, it's obvious, right.
- 14:31Speaker 2: So you know Well, tough tits.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Fox wins this one man, right?
- 14:37Speaker 2: Big 10 versus.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Big 10.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Big 10.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yeah, big 10, big 10 National.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Champion.
- 14:42Speaker 2: There you go.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Maybe our future conference brothers up there in the old Big 10.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Oh wow, One can only hope.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Yes.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Well, you know, now that we got one game left, Orange Bowl got the quarterback for next year lined up.
- 15:01Speaker 1: You know you'll be eyeing on some of those needed positions.
- 15:06Speaker 1: That will keep an eye on them, but the big eye is going to go to the courtrooms.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Now we got ourselves a law battle to follow yes, we do?
- 15:16Speaker 1: We got a case in North Carolina, we got a case in Leon County and we got to figure all this out Some rumor of Clemson filing here in the next two weeks.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Yeah, keep an eye out for that.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, I think that's true, I'm a little skeptical, but I think there's a lot of other schools that are looking yeah and regardless, they're waiting to see what happens with this to get on out out of the ACC Right.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I think the schools that have opportunities in other conferences are going to be the ones filing lawsuits, right?
- 15:46Speaker 2: Everybody else is just going to sit on their hands and let us do the dirty work.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Right, there you go.
- 15:52Speaker 1: You just can't believe like it's really coming to this you know.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Well, you know, not surprised at all, it is the Panhandle up here, man and they are messing with our money.
- 16:03Speaker 1: International Championship they give you gold numbers on your white jerseys.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Oh dude, they just atrocized it Traucicized it Worst things ever, man.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Kidding me.
- 16:15Speaker 1: All right, man.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Well, I got to get on out of here.
- 16:18Speaker 1: It's late.
