- 0:00Speaker 1: When I moved into Gary Sadlemeyer's shoes here they don't fit.
- 0:05Speaker 1: I promise you months ago, a live and local host
- 0:08Speaker 1: at ten o'clock. It's taken a minute, but it's going
- 0:12Speaker 1: to debut this Thursday, and I've already told you this
- 0:15Speaker 1: morning what the show is going to be. I just
- 0:18Speaker 1: have not introduced you to the host. Now again. The
- 0:20Speaker 1: show is we're bringing back the old KFABE Comment Line,
- 0:24Speaker 1: a show previously hosted by Walt Cavanaugh on the station
- 0:28Speaker 1: where callers would call up and talk to Walt Cavanaugh,
- 0:31Speaker 1: and that show sounded a lot like this.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Walt, here we have your comment. Please yeah' Walt, there's
- 0:38Speaker 2: a man in my room. Well, have you ever met
- 0:42Speaker 2: your husband? Hive?
- 0:43Speaker 1: I have eight eleven to ten. I would love to
- 0:47Speaker 1: do that, but I think we have something better for you.
- 0:50Speaker 1: The host of the Kfabe Comment Line, which will re
- 0:53Speaker 1: debut Thursday at ten am, is a familiar name here
- 0:58Speaker 1: in our community, and it's a lot about making a
- 1:02Speaker 1: note of the parking lot. It's someone who served on
- 1:05Speaker 1: the Millard School Board and goes by the name Jean
- 1:09Speaker 1: Stothert who joins us now, I guess did a little
- 1:12Speaker 1: time there in the City Council and oh yeah, the
- 1:14Speaker 1: Mayor's office for twelve years, Mayor Stother, Good morning and
- 1:18Speaker 1: welcome to eleven to ten kfab in a very different
- 1:21Speaker 1: capacity than you've been on here before.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Yes it is, and I'm happy to do it. So
- 1:26Speaker 3: good morning to everybody. You know, I think I've been
- 1:29Speaker 3: on your show hundreds of times. I love coming to
- 1:32Speaker 3: the studio, I love everybody there, but this is definitely
- 1:37Speaker 3: a different role for me and I'm going to enjoy it,
- 1:39Speaker 3: and I think everybody else will too. You know. The
- 1:42Speaker 3: one thing Gary Sattlemy used to say about me is
- 1:44Speaker 3: I just talked too much. And you know I do
- 1:47Speaker 3: have I do have the gift of gab. But as
- 1:50Speaker 3: you said earlier, this is a chance for people to
- 1:53Speaker 3: come together every day and speak our mind and you know,
- 1:56Speaker 3: anything goes so so I'm excited about it and I'm
- 2:00Speaker 3: ready for it, and this is going to be a
- 2:02Speaker 3: lot of fun.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Here, I suggest that you change your name to
- 2:05Speaker 2: Geno Rourke for this show. You need, you need a
- 2:09Speaker 2: radio name. How about Geno Rourke? You thought of that?
- 2:11Speaker 3: Well, you know what, Gino Rourke happens to be my
- 2:14Speaker 3: legal name.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, but I was elected Jean stother to
- 2:21Speaker 4: the school board, to the city Council, to the mayor's office,
- 2:24Speaker 4: and that's what people know.
- 2:26Speaker 3: And so I still use the name Jean Stothard in Omaha.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I just don't like to label the former mayor of
- 2:32Speaker 3: Omaha Jean Stothard. I think there's not a living creature
- 2:35Speaker 3: in Omaha that doesn't know that I am not the
- 2:38Speaker 3: mayor anymore. So we can let that go. We don't
- 2:41Speaker 3: have to call me the former mayor of Omaha.
- 2:44Speaker 1: It's going to be probably awkward at times, especially since
- 2:47Speaker 1: you will be taking live phone calls. Let's kind of
- 2:50Speaker 1: talk about what this show is and is not. It
- 2:53Speaker 1: is a forum for you, not just you as host,
- 2:56Speaker 1: but also you the listener, to send an emails the
- 3:00Speaker 1: message via the talk back what Mike here, via our
- 3:03Speaker 1: free iHeartRadio app, and call the show and talk about
- 3:08Speaker 1: that going on in our community and things going on
- 3:10Speaker 1: around the world that impact us here in Omaha and
- 3:13Speaker 1: around the area. It's also certainly and here's what the
- 3:16Speaker 1: show is not. It's not Jean stoth playing secretary and
- 3:20Speaker 1: just welcoming your phone calls in the way that Jim
- 3:23Speaker 1: Rose was impersonating Walt Cavanaugh. This is your whow we
- 3:26Speaker 1: have your comment and I want a lot of the
- 3:30Speaker 1: stuff there that is brought up by callers and emails
- 3:32Speaker 1: to reflect what's going on that's the big topic in
- 3:36Speaker 1: town today and your position to uniquely speak about it.
- 3:40Speaker 1: So let's kind of do a little run through here.
- 3:43Speaker 1: This will debut Thursday at ten, and I want to
- 3:46Speaker 1: know what it's like for you and the Mayor's office.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Let's say, as Saint Coole just opens up and swallows
- 3:52Speaker 1: two cars hole near x Starbon Village, what is that
- 3:57Speaker 1: morning like for you when that happens.
- 4:00Speaker 3: You know, I mean being mayor, every morning is busy
- 4:03Speaker 3: and every day brings something new into what is going
- 4:06Speaker 3: on in the city. But you know, like you mentioned before,
- 4:10Speaker 3: this is a chance for the listeners to speak up
- 4:13Speaker 3: and sound off about things going around town, around Omaha,
- 4:17Speaker 3: the state, the world, and the impact here in Omaha.
- 4:20Speaker 3: I will tell you plenty of things. We can talk
- 4:23Speaker 3: about sinkholes, and we could talk about potholes, and we
- 4:26Speaker 3: could talk about the streetcar. I have plenty to say.
- 4:29Speaker 3: But we're going to be interviewing guests from time to time,
- 4:33Speaker 3: and we really want to hear what you have to
- 4:35Speaker 3: say too. I do believe I have a lot of
- 4:38Speaker 3: knowledge about what is going on in Omaha, and I should.
- 4:41Speaker 3: I mean, after twelve years of being mayor. But we
- 4:43Speaker 3: could talk about the roads, we could talk about the streetcar,
- 4:46Speaker 3: we could talk about anything. So we're here to take
- 4:49Speaker 3: your calls to let you speak, and then I, as
- 4:52Speaker 3: we said before, I will have plenty to say too.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I got a let me roll play here for you. Okay,
- 4:58Speaker 2: you're going to get this. Hey, Geen, how are you
- 5:01Speaker 2: doing this morning? John Ewing's an idiot? What are you
- 5:05Speaker 2: going to say?
- 5:06Speaker 3: Well, you know, my role with this new position I'm
- 5:13Speaker 3: going to take is not to go on the air
- 5:15Speaker 3: and criticize the current administration at all. But I will
- 5:18Speaker 3: tell the truth and I will bring the facts out
- 5:21Speaker 3: because I know a lot of what has gone on
- 5:23Speaker 3: in the past, and I think that's what viewers want.
- 5:26Speaker 3: They want to hear, really what's going on. I'm not
- 5:29Speaker 3: a politician anymore. I'm done with politics, so I'm not
- 5:33Speaker 3: going to be sitting here worrying about my next election
- 5:36Speaker 3: or any other thing political. We're going to talk about
- 5:38Speaker 3: the facts and the data and what's on people's mind,
- 5:41Speaker 3: and we're going to talk about the truth.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I said, do it. Do we want to welcome
- 5:46Speaker 1: phone calls? And Jean Stouth said, I want phone calls.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I want listener interaction. I want to be able to
- 5:52Speaker 1: speak my mind. Just no talk about the street car,
- 5:55Speaker 1: and we will be I'll be the first caller. I'm
- 5:58Speaker 1: going to be calling from my and say hey gee.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Tim Rose will be calling me about the street car.
- 6:06Speaker 3: I know as much about the street car as I
- 6:08Speaker 3: think anybody, and I am more than willing to take
- 6:11Speaker 3: anybody's calls. One thing I love doing is interacting with people.
- 6:15Speaker 3: I did that with when I was mayor. I did
- 6:17Speaker 3: over seventy town hall meetings and I never screened the questions.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I never hadn't give me the questions ahead of time.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I took them the way that they were presented to me.
- 6:27Speaker 3: And that's what we're going to do with KFAB.
- 6:29Speaker 1: And that starts Thursday at ten am. I'll be in
- 6:32Speaker 1: there with you for probably the first week or so.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Producer Peyton high Lock will be in there and he'll
- 6:38Speaker 1: kind of serve as Roz from The Fraser Show, teeing
- 6:42Speaker 1: up callers and emailers and helping you with the more
- 6:44Speaker 1: radio thing. One thing that you do is speak your
- 6:48Speaker 1: mind and will help you kind of keep it between
- 6:51Speaker 1: the dishes and on time. Here Thursday morning at ten am.
- 6:55Speaker 1: It's going to be fun. We'll see you then, we'll
- 6:57Speaker 1: see you then. That's the newest member of our kfab lineup,
- 7:01Speaker 1: Jean Stutht, the host of the kfab Comment Line, with
- 7:04Speaker 1: the Jeans Stoutht debut on Thursday.
- 7:07Speaker 2: It'll be fun and we're glad she's here and doing it,
- 7:10Speaker 2: and she will be fun to listen to, and she
- 7:12Speaker 2: ain't gonna hold back, but she will be pressed to
- 7:15Speaker 2: complain about the current administration from time to time, so yeah,
- 7:19Speaker 2: it'll be fun to listen to how she handles that. Yeah, Jane,
- 7:23Speaker 2: that guy at the Mayor's office doesn't know he's rear
- 7:25Speaker 2: rent from page five.
- 7:26Speaker 1: What are you gonna do about it? Early feedback from
- 7:29Speaker 1: kfab Nation. One email says this is a brilliant move.
- 7:32Speaker 1: The other one says you just lost me as a
- 7:34Speaker 1: kfab listener. Welcome, here we go. Wanda says, I love it.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Can't wait to listen to Gene from ten to eleven.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Tannis says Gene will be a breath of fresh air
- 7:45Speaker 1: Way to go Scott and iHeart. Dennis says, thin skin,
- 7:50Speaker 1: thin skin, jeans, Douthart, bad, higher Kfab. So there are
- 7:55Speaker 1: people talking and we know that you'll do it.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Neil.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Thursday morning at ten
