- Serena and Hannah: Yeah. Happy Thursday. Welcome back to another episode of the Living Freed Podcast. I am your host, Hannah Liz, and with me, as usual, well, moving forward, is Serena. Serena. That's me. That's you. Let's talk about what we have gotten into. You first this time. Okay. I feel like you had a lot going on. I've had a lot going on. You're absolutely right. I've been working. is that it? Yeah, no, I've been on some crazy dates this week. Like actually crazy. went to the concert. We went to the concert. Tim McGraw. Y'all met someone I had been seeing. Yeah. And that was interesting. That was interesting, yes. Yeah. Nice guy. Really? Easy to bully. Easy to bully. There we go. I mean he wasn't he wasn't mean. He just like He's just bully. Yeah. So Tim McGraw, lots of dates. Lots of dates. Working, church, and Serena has us playing this number game every time we get a group. I love it. I I don't feel bad about it at all. You don't? No. Okay. It forces everyone to be creative. It's the one on TikTok, you know that everyone's I don't know, it it was a trend for a minute where you put a number on your head or someone writes it for you and then you have to try to figure out what number is there by asking creative questions like Is this number less than the books of Bible book books in the Bible? Books in the Bible, sorry. so under sixty six. Yeah. And they say yes or no. That's it. Yes or no questions only. Even though you haven't played, play it's fun. Even though someone's boyfriend tries to sneak in extra questions. Yeah, yeah. He does do that. He does it so nonchalant too. Yeah. And then we tell him we're gonna skip his turn. And then his advocate over here is like, we already skipped it. Let him go again. I do not. I don't do that. I don't. I'm competitive. I'm not giving him extra questions. I don't know. It feels that way. Okay, what are you looking forward to this next week? gosh, what we're having people over on Sunday. Yes for hot luck. Yes, slay. I'm not saying that. Slay. no, I'm pumped. That'll be fun. Yeah, and that's it, honestly, working and potluck and well, I'll save that for what's in. Okay. Okay. For me, honestly, I've been working. My mentor came into town this week, so it was a lot of working, a lot of learning, and a bit of rejection, you know. life insurance is definitely full of rejection or misunderstandings. So it was a growing week and I slept so good because I was so tired by the end of the day. Hannah would come home and she could tell that I I'm a talker. You are a talker. But there was no talking really by the time I got home. I was ready to knock out. So that was nice. I got good some good sleep and then you've had some crazy dreams too. Bro, my dreams talk about what's out. We're gonna jump into what's in, what's out. My dreams are insane. I've had dreams. Well, y'all have heard about the dreams of the lizards getting in my food. I started dreaming that they're breaking into my house and they're trying to get in my bed. I had a dream that I met my future husband and that he told me he'd been stalking me and that he tried to murder me later on in our marriage. That was just last night's dream. yeah, I don't know what's going on. I think maybe the husband one is assigned to stop dating and to go back into no dating at all. Delete the apps. Yeah, stop talking to strangers at coffee shops, you know, just all of it. Yeah. That's my what's out are these crazy dreams. She came home last night and I'm like, well, at least these at least these dates are entertaining. Like for me. At least. At least. So I don't have to worry about that. Thanks, Hugo. I guess are we doing the what's in? What's in? Yeah, go ahead. Okay, so my what's in. We're doing what's in or what's out first? It's up to you. I just jumped straight into what I'll go what's what's in. What's in is the copper water dispenser. You're loving that thing. Yeah. It's expensive. It's worth it though, I guess, you know, if I can heal my body even more. We love that. we love healthy bodies. Yeah, we do. Should I do what's out or are you gonna do what's I'll do I'll do what's in. What is in is the new fourth wing book called Threshing Day. Mm. Where you don't know anything about the series, but let me just tell you they to like go like Find their dragon that they're gonna go into war with. Tell me anything, what's wrong with you? I wanna read it. I know there's a person named Violet. Yes. Yes. And then Xander or something. Yeah. And then another guy. I am assuming there are multiple guys. I feel like that's the trend lately. Something like yeah, but it's not like a love triangle or anything. Nothing like that. But no, this is about giving it away. No, I'm not. No guessing for me. But this book is different. So it's not gonna give anything away, but it's about like there's a very specific day they have to like go find their dragons and either the dragons will kill them or bomb them, or they just don't get to be a cadet or whatever it's called, a fighter. and each chapter is on a different person from the books that are solely based off of the main character. So you get to see like other perspectives and points of view. I like that. cool. So I'm not giving you anything away. Wait, on that note, have you heard about Divergent? They're gonna make a new series. I saw but it's Trish joining a fifth f fraction. No, it's like a it's basically a different universe. Yeah. Where she yeah, yeah, she joins a fifth fact faction. Yeah. Instead of Divergent or Instead of Dauntless. Dauntless. Mm-hmm. I know. I'm curious. I don't know if I'm gonna read it. You read it and then you tell me. I never read the last book because That was one of the first series I never read the last book. Mm-hmm. I never watched the last movie either. I loved the first book. I read it multiple times. Second book was decent. She started annoying me. So number four or four or whatever. And yeah, I took a pause and a beat. It didn't return. And now I feel like I have to read the whole thing again before. So when I have time, which is w Hunger Games comes first. I still gotta read Haymitches. Yeah, you do. I will say I rewatched the movies and I'm okay. I just I don't feel like I need to read the new multiverse theoried styled book. Whatever you Maybe she'll be less annoyed. She likes Savior Complex. Savior complex. I have to die to make it so everyone else looked. Bro, you don't. You're just making it more difficult. Yeah, literally. It's as bad as what was the book I was telling you about recently? Lightlark. I did not like that one. The first book? I don't think it was bad. It's just like as you get to know this main character, her savior complex is terrible. She gets mad at other people for doing things that she's thinking about doing or actually doing because I don't I don't know what's wrong with her. I'm not good enough, but I need to save everyone. I must die, but you risking yourself, like I'm so mad at you. I won't talk to you, and then you won't stop. Like it's like this back and forth, dramatic BS. This is what she gets for not having parents. that was terrible to say. Thank God we can cut that one. anyways. I did start that book with you and then I got into book two and I was like, this is not it. So I did not finish it. So that's your what's in? What's your what's out? The dreams. yes, yes, yes. What's your what's out? My what's out is random allergic reactions, especially when I'm not sure where they're coming from. obviously I'm allergic. Wait, I was gonna say your lips look really normal right now. But I can feel it. And that's the thing. Anyone who's dealt with allergic reactions knows what I mean. Like they, if they've had it bad, they know what it feels like when it's starting. Mm-hmm. and I'm allergic to mangoes. I'm pretty allergic to mangoes. Me and all my sisters break out. I have asthma, so like it hits my lungs too. Or whatever, I had asthma. Who knows? but I woke up one morning and I could see feel something different and I was like, dang. Please, please don't spread for my lips. Cause if it doesn't, that means it was very minor. And I could save it. So I'm popping allergy medicine. I'm putting in antihistamine on my lips. Like I'm trying. Stayed on my lips. There's a tiny little bumps. It was inflamed this morning. Yeah. You could see it. She th she thought I got work done. Yeah. Yesterday when I got home from work and I saw you, I was like, Serena went and got like her lips done. I would have told her if I was gonna do that. Am I supposed to say something or am I supposed to pretend like I didn't notice? Like what's the vibe here? Yeah. But it's like they're I don't know. It's it feels like how it does when it's dry and you smile, it's gonna crack, but not gonna crack or I don't know how to explain it. But these tiny little bumps, they're really, really annoying. You can't see them, but I can feel I know it. I know what's happening. I feel like they look normal right now. They don't feel normal. Well, I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah, me too. okay, well that's all I have for what's in what's out. Is that all you have? Yeah, thanks so. Perfect. Well this episode is on the genealogy Jesus part fourteen. So let's get into it. Y'all, we left off with King Josiah dead. He was good. Heck, he was great. But at the end, he put his own ambitions first, which is so human like, you know, in nature. We see in Matthew 1 11, his son Jehoahaz took his place because the people of the land made him at the age of 23, and he reigned a whopping three whole months. Yeah, three months. That's right. Ninety days, give or take. But then the king of Egypt hated him. So he took him to Egypt in captivity. And Neko, the king of Egypt, made Jehoas brother, his like other brother, king. And he was king for like 11 whole years. He was a freaking horse though, did what was evil in the sight of God, and Nebuchadnezzar, dun dun, dun, king of Babylon. bound him and chained him and took him to Babylon. So one brother is captive in Egypt and the other is captive in Babylon. Are we tracking? The king who was taken to Babylon, his son, Jehoiachan, took his place and reign. Now this is important because this is where the siege of Jerus Jerusalem, your girl can no longer talk, happens. The Babylonian Empire under King Nebuchadnezzar is chat Attacks Judah, destroys Jerusalem, and burns the temple. Now, we saw this being prophesied before multiple times, not to this detail, but knowing that it was going to happen, and here it is. We get to see it happen so many kings later. The deportation was for the royal family leaders, and most of the Jewish population were forced into exile in Babylon. And if you want the dates, it was. Like around five eighty-six BC. Now, verse eleven mentions Josiah and Jehoacha or Jehoachin because translations switched depending on Bibles and Hebrew versus Greek and yada yada yada. And around that time of the deportation. So Josiah knew it was gonna happen. He was like, Thank God, not when I'm alive, but then his son had to see it happen. Jehoachin is like not very impressive at all as a king. And this is where we see the interruption begin with the event that broke the continuous line of the David king ruling over Israel. So when God promised that there would always be someone on the throne if they upheld their side of the covenant, this is where we see that line is now disrupted, and they're no longer kings over Judah and Israel. Everyone has been taken captive at this point. What we would see in if we had jumped way back in time to the very last few verses in 2 Kings is that Jehoachin gets released from the prison in Babylon. That man shakes off his prison garments or clothes, whatever you want to call them, and is seated with the king. He is having dinner with the king on the reg, given a daily allowance for all of his needs, and he stayed at the palace until he died. Which is crazy. Then we see in verse 12 of Matthew 1 that it goes straight into after the exile to Babylon, and we get introduced to Zerubabel, skipping several generations of history and unspoken years of hardship, as we've seen happen in the past with this genealogy, because they really only keep track of who they think is important. Now we might find close to nothing on Chiteli, who is Jericho and son. But we can and do find some information on his son, Zerubel. So Jerichoan goes to Babylon, he has a son, his son has a son, and that son, so Jerichoan's grandson, is Zerubel. And we find him mostly in Ezra chapter two. Well, that's when we get introduced to him. We see that he is part of the group that is allowed to come back to Judah in Jerusalem. But not as a king, no, not at all. But as a governor, eventually. He takes up a space, a more humble leadership role, different than ever seen before in his line. Zerubbabel did some interesting things. He guided a group of over forty-two thousand Jewish exiles, plus servants and seniors, from Babylon back to Jerusalem. He rebuilt the altar with the help of the high priest Joshua. laid the temple foundation, completed the second temple, and honestly, y'all, so much more. So we went from his grandfather not honoring God, kinda like his father also isn't spoke about honoring God, but then this man is like, No, I'm on a mission for my people, for this covenant, and for the Lord. Zerubbabel governed over Judah and Joshua the high priest are seen as a Foreshadowing of the Messiah. We see this in Zechariah chapter three verse eight. They both being at the center of the exiles from Babylon is considered a foreshadowing of foreshadowing? Foreshadowing. I really can't talk today. So both of these guys are dudes are at the center of the exiles from Babylon and is considered a foreshadowing of Of a future return from the exiles among the nations. What the reigning leader and high priest, if you don't get what I'm saying, it's Jesus, y'all. So both these guys came in as a leader and a high priest from Babylon, brought the people to the promised land. Now it is a foreshadowing of Jesus and bringing his people out of among the nations. I hope y'all didn't hear that alarm because I'm keeping it in here no matter what. But from among the nations. by their leader and their high priest. There is a very specific structure I want to just share with you when you look at the line or the lineage of Jesus in Matthew. Matthew splits Jesus's gene genealogy into three distinct 14 generation blocks. We have Abraham to David, who we've gone over in detail, then we have David to the exiles, as we've just completed, and now we are on the currently we're on the exiles to Christ section. So we are in the exiles to Jesus' coming section. This shift highlights that Jesus arrived to restore and fulfill God's promise even after Israel's royal line seemed dead and gone. Because Zerubbabel was the last to hold any official position from here. And the rest become kind of like nobodies. So who was Zerubbabel? Because he was really the only one important for us to talk about. He's a key ancestor of Jesus Christ, listed in both Matthew 1 and Luke 3, proving God kept his eternal promise to keep David Royal line alive until the Messiah arrived. Now, who is God in this? We see God is still faithful to keep his promises as always, not just with the foreshadowing, but also as he uses Serebabel and even called him his signet ring in Haggai chapter 2, verse 23. showing that he is still valued and authority backed the royal family of David after the Babylonian exile. Now, I know this was a very short episode, but honestly, there wasn't a whole lot to say on these guys. I gave you three people and the genealogy of Jesus under ten minutes. I think we should all give me a clap on the back, a slap on the back, clap on the back, a pat on the b pat on the back. There we go. It was brief, I know But it's just a little subtle insights that we get to see on how God shows up continuing to keep his promise as a beat a dead dog with that. Wow. These analogies are getting out of hand, y'all. yeah, we just get to see God keeping his promises and he is faithful. And we get to see people leave God, his generations leave and come back, and how God is still there and faithful and consistent. And unfortunately, we do suffer from our parents' wrongs. And just like Zeruba Bell, he had to go and rewrite these wrongs, which was rebuilding altars, resetting the foundations of the temple. Honestly, if you go into Ezra, you'll see a lot more of the story. It gets kind of crazy what happens. but yeah, it's so cool. We love it. We love history. All right. Well, that's all I have for you today. I hope that you enjoyed the genealogy of Jesus. This was part 14, you guys. Yeah. Part 14, crazy. So we're almost there. We're at the we're at the last mark, you know? We did part or section one, section two, and now we're on section three. And we'll see how much more information I can find for y'all.
