- 0:00Hello friends! Welcome back to Wonderfully Made,
- 0:04Bible Stories for Children. I'm so excited you're
- 0:09here. Last time, we followed the Israelites through
- 0:13the wilderness after God rescued them from Egypt.
- 0:16He gave them food from heaven and water from
- 0:20a rock, and showed them that He is always with
- 0:23them. Today, we'll hear about a very special
- 0:27moment when God gave his people rules to help
- 0:31them live well, with him and with each other.
- 0:35Are you ready for the story? Let's jump in. After
- 0:53many days in the desert, The Israelites came
- 0:56to a tall mountain called Mount Sinai. God told
- 1:00Moses to come up the mountain to talk with him.
- 1:04But before Moses could go up, something amazing
- 1:08happened. The mountain was covered with smoke
- 1:12and fire. Thunder rumbled, lightning flashed,
- 1:16and a trumpet blasted. The people stood at the
- 1:20bottom, watching and listening. They knew something
- 1:24very important was about to happen. God called
- 1:29Moses to come up the mountain. There, he gave
- 1:33Moses the Ten Commandments, special rules to
- 1:36help the people live a life that honors God and
- 1:40live well with each other. Here's what they were.
- 1:441. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out
- 1:50of the land of Egypt. out of the house of slavery.
- 1:53You shall have no other gods before me. 2. You
- 2:00shall not make for yourself a carved image, or
- 2:04any likeness of anything that is in heaven above,
- 2:07or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in
- 2:11the water under the earth. You shall not bow
- 2:14down to them or serve them. 3. You shall not
- 2:20take the name of the Lord your God in vain. 4.
- 2:26Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 5.
- 2:32Honor your father and your mother. 6. You shall
- 2:39not murder. 7. You shall not commit adultery.
- 2:468. You shall not steal. 9. You shall not give
- 2:55false testimony against your neighbor. 10. You
- 3:00shall not covet. These weren't just any rules,
- 3:05they were given by God himself to show the people
- 3:09how to live in a way that was good and right.
- 3:13After Moses received the commandments, he came
- 3:17back down the mountain he told the people everything
- 3:21god had said and the people said we will do everything
- 3:27the lord has said they made a promise a covenant
- 3:32with god to follow his ways from that day on
- 3:36the ten commandments became a big part of how
- 3:40the israelites lived Sometimes we think of rules
- 3:50as things that stop us from having fun. But God's
- 3:54rules are different. They help keep us safe,
- 3:58kind, and close to him and to others. Just like
- 4:03a loving parent sets rules to protect a child,
- 4:07God gave the Israelites these commandments because
- 4:10he loved them and he loves us too. God's commandments
- 4:16are still important today. Jesus later said that
- 4:20all of God's rules can be summed up into commandments.
- 4:24The first is. Love the Lord your God with all
- 4:29your heart and with all your soul and with all
- 4:32your mind and with all your strength. And the
- 4:37second is. Love your neighbor as yourself. Let's
- 4:43try to live that way every day with kindness,
- 4:46honesty, and love. Let's think about a few things
- 4:53together. Why do you think God gave rules to
- 4:57his people? Which of the Ten Commandments stands
- 5:02out to you the most? How can you show love for
- 5:08God and others in your everyday life? God's rules
- 5:14aren't meant to hold us back. They help us become
- 5:18the people he made us to be. Thanks for listening
- 5:24today. Next time, we'll hear what happened when
- 5:28Moses was gone on the mountain for a long time,
- 5:32and the people made a big mistake. What did they
- 5:36do? And how did God respond? Don't miss it! Until
- 5:42next time, remember, you are wonderfully made,
- 5:46and God is with you every step of the way. Bye
- 5:51for now.
