- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, welcome to today's episode of the Daily Rider Podcast.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: If you really want to grow your network and reach a higher level of success in your life as a writer, you've got to invest in yourself.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: There's a lot you can learn from books, conferences, videos, and podcasts, but those can only take you so far.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: The true test of how badly you want success is whether you're willing to part with your hard-earned cash in order to learn more and invest in deeper relationships.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Let's focus specifically on paid communities such as the Daily Writer community or also mastermind groups.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing with paid groups in general.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: The fact that people are paying to be there means that they're more serious about growing and learning.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: And that, by definition, is a barrier to entry, which means the quality of people in the group will likely be higher than the quality of people in free groups in general.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: And again, I'm making massive generalizations, but in my experience, that's pretty much true.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Now, I'm not saying that free groups are bad by any means, but if you really want to accelerate your progress, a paid community or a mastermind is definitely the way to go.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Now, I am currently part of four paid communities or masterminds.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Number one is the 48 Days Eagles community, led by Dan Miller.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Number two is the Total Life Freedom Community, led by Vincent Puglisi.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Number three is Ghost Rider School Elite, led by Nick Pavlitas.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: And number four is the Empire Builders Mastermind, led by Honore Corter.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Each of these groups is different in the way that we interact and what's included, but they're all really powerful and they're all really, really helpful.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Now I know a lot of people are going to hear something like this and they're immediately going to object.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: I don't have the money to join a paid group or a community.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: And I get this.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: I totally, totally get this.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I was there for a very long time.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: I would see these masterminds and paid communities, and I would get really frustrated because I thought, man, I can barely even pay my bills.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Like, how can I scrape together money to join something like this?
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And what am I actually getting uh in return for my hard-earned cash anyway?
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: But then I realized that relationships are the key to success in life.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: They really are.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: So my question is, what can you do to scrape together a little bit of money to engage in a community of high achievers?
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: And I would say if you need to eat out a couple of times less per month or cancel a subscription or sell some stuff or something, it's totally, totally worth it.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: I've told this story before, but the way that I joined Nick Pavlitas' Ghostwriter School back in 2019 was I actually had to borrow some money from my dad to join.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: And I absolutely hated doing that.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: I mean, I hated doing that.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: If you can think of the thing in life that you hate the most, that's how much I hated having to call my dad and borrow money because I'm I'm kind of a very proud person in that sense.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Like I hate asking people for help, even though it's necessary and it's important uh many times.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: I just I don't like to ask for help.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Um, I grew up as a very independent sort of a person, and I'm still that way.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: I'm very much that way.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: So to have to call my own father and ask to borrow money, I really hated doing that.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: But it was so important to me to do it that I did it.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: He was absolutely thrilled to let me borrow the money, and he would never let me pay it back.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: That's what kind of an awesome guy my dad is.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Uh I tried to pay him back once I started getting ghostwriting clients, and he would not accept it.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: So don't be afraid to do something a little bit drastic to get the money to join a paid community or a mastermind if you think it's really going to help you.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: So again, ask yourself, what can you sell?
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: What freelance work could you do?
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Uh, what can you do to get some money together?
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Who can you borrow money from?
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Do whatever you need to do.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Do whatever it takes because those paid communities are what I call high leverage opportunities, which means that if you engage in those groups and you use your knowledge in those relationships correctly, and I don't mean like use people or use those relationships, but you know what I mean.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: If you do that, you're going to get a far bigger return on your investment.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: It's this idea of leverage.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: You use one small thing to get you really, really big results in something.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: And I guarantee you, if you engage in a good, a good community and you make use of it and you get to know people and you help them and they help you, it's really, really worth it.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: It can be life-changing.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: So, with that, it's a great time for me to mention the daily rider community, which of course is only 47 bucks a month.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: It's really not much.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't think it would take much for most people to be able to afford that.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: And if it's something that you can't afford, then I would encourage you just to ask yourself, what can you do to get together 47 bucks a month?
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Is there something you can sell?
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Is there a little bit of freelance work you that you could do?
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Is there a subscription you can cancel or could you eat out a couple times less a month?
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: What can you do to get together the funds to join a group that's really going to help accelerate your success?
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: And I guarantee you, with our group, with the Daily Rider community, if you join the group and you really engaged and you you're coming to the calls and you're around these other successful riders, you're going to be selling books.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: You're going to be doing freelance work.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: You're going to be doing some client work.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: You're going to be doing some things that will generate cold, hard cash, as Lucy in the Peanuts comic strip would say.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: So that's my promo.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: I love the Daily Rider community.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: I think it's a wonderful, wonderful group.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: I mean, if I didn't believe that, I wouldn't be running the group.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm seeing the changes that people are having in the group and the success that they're having because they're around other really awesome writers.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: So that's my plug for that.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: You can check it out at DailyRiderLife.comslash community.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: So my parting question for you today is do you believe in yourself and your goals enough to invest money into your growth?
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: And I want you to think about that really carefully.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: I believe in you.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: The question is, do you believe in you?
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: If you've been listening to this show for any length of time, you know that one of the four practices of a great writer is creativity.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: And in order to stay creative, you've got to have great input.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: And that's where writing prompts come in.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: A writing prompt is a sentence or two that helps you break through creative blocks, brainstorm new ideas, and get back into a state of flow.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: Writing prompts are an awesome creative tool for journaling, storytelling, creative writing, stress relief, social media posts, and so much more.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: But the great news is that you don't have to create these yourself.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: We've put together an amazing package of 365 daily writing prompts.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: So every day for the next year, you can have a shot of inspiration delivered straight to your inbox.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: You can check it out at dailywriterlife.comslash writing prompts.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Thanks, and I'll see you tomorrow.
