- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here and it's Friday.
- 0:15It's the 13th of June. Congratulations.
- 0:19Here we are at the end of another week, and you know what
- 0:22that means. Yes, not only is the weekend
- 0:24about to arrive, but some proverbs, some of God's wisdom
- 0:30delivered to us in these brief little bundles being delivered
- 0:35right to our doorstep here in the book of Proverbs.
- 0:38So today we are going to continue doing just that.
- 0:41We're going to read 6 Proverbs through together and reflect on
- 0:44those and then pray through how they might shape our lives to be
- 0:49more godly and more wise. How fantastic.
- 0:53You ready? Yeah, me too.
- 0:55Let's dive in reading together Proverbs 1319 to 25.
- 1:11It is pleasant to see dreams come true, but fools refuse to
- 1:16turn from evil to attain them. Walk with the wise and become
- 1:21wise. Associate with fools and get in
- 1:25trouble. Trouble chases sinners, while
- 1:30blessings reward the righteous. God's people leave an
- 1:36inheritance to their grandchildren, but the sinner's
- 1:40wealth passes to the godly. A poor person's farm may produce
- 1:47much food, but injustice sweeps it all the way.
- 1:54Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children.
- 1:58Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.
- 2:03The godly eat to their heart's content, but the belly of the
- 2:07wicked goes hungry. And again it is pleasant to see
- 2:15dreams come true, but fools refuse to turn from evil to
- 2:19attain them. Walk with the wise and become
- 2:23wise. Associate with fools and get in
- 2:27trouble. Trouble chases sinners, while
- 2:32blessings reward the righteous. Good people leave an inheritance
- 2:38to their grandchildren, but the sinner's wealth passes to the
- 2:42godly. A poor person's farm may produce
- 2:46much food, but injustice sweeps it all the way.
- 2:52Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children.
- 2:56Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.
- 3:00The godly eat to their heart's content, but the belly of the
- 3:04wicked goes hungry. My Lord, we hear in these
- 3:18proverbs that the poor may farm, work hard and produce food, but
- 3:25often the thing that keeps them poor is the injustice would
- 3:29continually sweeps away everything that they've been
- 3:32able to achieve. And Lord, we know that that is
- 3:36true today as we think of all of those who work so hard for a
- 3:40pittance in corners of the world so that us in these Western
- 3:45countries who have the privilege of being able to listen to
- 3:49podcasts on our shiny devices, that we can buy things cheaply.
- 3:55And those who have produced them are often trapped in cycles of
- 3:59injustice. Our Lord, we know that injustice
- 4:03breaks your heart and enrages you.
- 4:07Lord, I pray that our hearts too, would be shaped by yours,
- 4:11so that we would not stand passive and unaffected by the
- 4:16injustices of the world, but that we would arm ourselves with
- 4:20the knowledge that we need to make informed decisions so that
- 4:24as we act in this world, we would do so in a way that
- 4:28upholds your righteousness and your justice.
- 4:33Or help us find practical ways to do that.
- 4:38And Lord, help us use the information we're able to find
- 4:43to bless people everywhere. May your Kingdom come on earth
- 4:50as it is in heaven. We ask all of this through your
- 4:54precious name, Jesus. Amen.
