- 0:31Hi everyone.
- 0:32Welcome back to the realtor who whines.
- 0:34I'm Rachelle Neumeyer, your local realtor who loves to whine.
- 0:37Today I am in independence, Oregon with Miranda and Juliet at their sports bar.
- 0:43Thank you so much for having me.
- 0:45Cheers, cheers. Cheers for having us.
- 0:48Yeah, yeah. I'm excited.
- 0:53Please go ahead and introduce yourselves to everybody.
- 0:57Well, I'm Miranda Garrison, I'm co-owner of arena and rookie Sports Bars, and I'm Julia Parks, and I'm Miranda's business partner.
- 1:05And we own Arena Sports bar in Rocky Sports Town.
- 1:08I talk a little bit about how this relationship developed.
- 1:12Like, did you start off as friends?
- 1:14Did you meet in college?
- 1:15Like, how did you guys meet and then decide to become business partners?
- 1:19We met working here.
- 1:20Oh my gosh. Perfect. Yeah. In college.
- 1:20Yeah.
- 1:23We both worked here, through college and, became friends because we're in this industry and worked together, quite a few shifts really closely.
- 1:34When we got a lot of mutual friends in college as well that we.
- 1:37Sure.
- 1:37So we went to Western Oregon University, both of us.
- 1:40And we'd see each other at school and work, and we so liked each other.
- 1:47That's important.
- 1:48That's definitely important. Yeah.
- 1:49So you started out as servers, bartenders.
- 1:52Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:53And and what made the transition mentally and then also in life to go from that to ownership, I'm assuming management started first and then maybe dabbled into the ownership part.
- 2:06Yeah. It was kind of that system. Yeah.
- 2:08So we started as bartenders then, you know, shift leads.
- 2:10And then we worked here for a decade and years.
- 2:15Yeah.
- 2:15And we had graduated and we still weren't finding jobs in our fields.
- 2:19And, we enjoyed our jobs.
- 2:23Yeah, yeah.
- 2:24So we, we decided if we couldn't find jobs in our field of study, we wanted to we'll go into this industry together.
- 2:31Yeah, I love that.
- 2:31At that point, we were looking for bars to buy and, lamb at Valley of the Valley anywhere or startup locations.
- 2:40And the, owner of arena at the time knew that we were actively looking.
- 2:46And she made us an offer to buy the arena.
- 2:49Yeah. Nice.
- 2:50And she was, like, looking to retire then, and she had owned it for over 30 years at that point.
- 2:54And she was she still owns another bar in town.
- 2:57She just wanted to have the one she want to have downsize a little bit.
- 3:00Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:01So when she made that offer to you, what made you decide like, yeah, we want to stay with arena or did it just feel like it fit because you'd been here for so long?
- 3:12Yeah, it just felt like home. Yeah.
- 3:14It does feel like.
- 3:14Yeah.
- 3:15I love that time. And a lot of time here.
- 3:18What was something that surprised you about the purchasing like process and stuff, since you hadn't done that before, was there anything that caught you off guard or was it exactly what you expected?
- 3:29Well, we had really good mentors.
- 3:30We, worked with, Small Business Bureau and the Schumacher, the business development, and they had a mentor program.
- 3:37So they had helped us and they had guided us in, like, what that looks like and, and how to write a business plan.
- 3:44Profit and loss projection based on, the current profit and loss that Paul provided us.
- 3:51So that was a really interesting process.
- 3:54Yeah.
- 3:55And they you know, guidance because especially like, partnerships, usually don't work. Right.
- 3:59And I think that's why a lot of people always like to know how we've done it, because they don't usually work well on a lot.
- 4:04And that's why I asked if you were friends first or were you colleagues first, because sometimes, too, it's romantic to be like, oh, my best friend and I are going to open this.
- 4:13I don't want your business partners.
- 4:14You're like, I'm going to murder you.
- 4:17You know, because it's hard. Exactly.
- 4:17Yeah. Yep.
- 4:19Yeah. Ding ding. Yeah.
- 4:20I think we, because we worked together for so long, we raised such a great working relationship, established already, and we knew kind of the ins and outs of the bar, but also the ins and outs of our strength to, and that really helped.
- 4:36I mean, a common goal. Yeah.
- 4:39And we also, like, we have a contract between us just it's our contract of like, what we will do and our expectations.
- 4:46And like, that was one thing our mentor taught.
- 4:49She's like, you want to have these hard conversations while you're still happy, right?
- 4:55Yeah.
- 4:56When things are back to it, not very often because we get along pretty well.
- 5:00But yeah, that's hard when the business changes or atmospheres changes.
- 5:04And so sometimes you have to remind yourself of foundations or goals that you had.
- 5:08Did, you know, because of working together already, like, oh, I'm going to be really good and on this part of the business and I'm going to own this part of the business.
- 5:16Like as far as like marketing, staffing and training, like who decided to do what kind of I think like that was the goal at the beginning is that we had kind of more clear ideas of what we wanted to do, in regards to those things.
- 5:34But it's changed throughout the year.
- 5:36Sure.
- 5:36Based on what's happening, in the community, what's happening in the bar, what's happening in our lives.
- 5:45So, those roles can change if we change that.
- 5:50Yeah, yeah.
- 5:50Well, and, well, like, we do have our strengths and weaknesses.
- 5:53We both do know how to do the other things, like.
- 5:55Yeah.
- 5:56And, like, we have really good checks and balances, like, you know, our accounts.
- 6:00Everyone, we both of us look at them, we, you know, inputs and then reconciling.
- 6:04And so that way, we're very transparent with everything.
- 6:08Yeah. Which is important. Yeah.
- 6:10I think that's.
- 6:11Yeah, one of the biggest keys to our success, is being so transparent.
- 6:16And honest. Yeah.
- 6:18What has been something that you've learned over because how long have you had this far now.
- 6:2411 years.
- 6:2412 years.
- 6:25Somewhere on there.
- 6:26Yeah. Six. Right. No.
- 6:2914. 14 okay.
- 6:32I was thinking when we like when it changed tour arena, it used to be schooners.
- 6:36So. Got it. Yeah, yeah.
- 6:38So, 14 over the 14 years, what are some different things that you've learned as business owners and leaders in this industry?
- 6:47What have we learned?
- 6:49Oh, that we don't know anything.
- 6:52It's just like being a grown up.
- 6:54You're never actually you're.
- 6:55Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:57I learned that, like, the level of community involvement in something that I had not anticipated.
- 7:08And it's really great.
- 7:09Being able to give back and be a participant and what's happening in the downtown activity is churn or with the college on Earth.
- 7:22Yeah.
- 7:22It's you know we are pretty involved.
- 7:24That's something that I learned.
- 7:28What else.
- 7:28Management.
- 7:30That was, has there been like some pain points with staffing or training staff especially like over the last decade like employee have changed retentions changed a little bit.
- 7:44Well, we actually are pretty lucky for a bar and restaurant, and I think that we've worked really hard at being good bosses.
- 7:52We when we started, we said we want to be the bosses that we always wanted, and we've done a pretty good job of that.
- 7:57So we keep our servers for a very long time.
- 8:00That's how we have ones that have been with us for a decade, I love that, yeah.
- 8:03Josh just celebrated his ten years.
- 8:06That's amazing.
- 8:07Yeah, I love that and all. Let it go, Josh.
- 8:09Yeah, yeah. Shout out to Josh. Yeah.
- 8:12And we have people six, five years.
- 8:15Eight years.
- 8:17Yeah.
- 8:17And then they're very happy.
- 8:19Like we love it here. I'm like okay.
- 8:21Well I think it's we work really hard creating a culture specific culture that as we call it that the culture, and we get them to kind of buy into it.
- 8:31It's all about, you know, service and making our customers happy.
- 8:36Right?
- 8:37Enjoying themselves, but also keeping our staff happy, too.
- 8:41Absolutely.
- 8:41With whatever that.
- 8:43What, whatever they need to be successful.
- 8:46Well, we always say we want a fun and safe space for people to gather.
- 8:49Yeah, and that includes, you know, having staff that's trained, it has all the tools that they need. Yeah.
- 8:55You know, if they also need something like, I need this tool or I need this, I want to try this liquor.
- 9:00What we accommodate and we listen to them.
- 9:02We we really listen to what they want and need.
- 9:05Sure. How has that changed over the years?
- 9:08Like relationships with distributions or local companies like do people?
- 9:13Can people come in and be like, I'd love for you to carry our vodka, or do they have to go through a distribution type channel?
- 9:19No, they have they're they have sales reps that come in, usually, like our regional sales person will bring in somebody like, we have a liquor rep and we have beer reps and they'll have different people tag along with them like, hey, you want a beer?
- 9:33Yeah.
- 9:34You want to try this?
- 9:36Within individual, sales, from breweries and the woman and get samples so anybody can come in.
- 9:45Yeah.
- 9:45Samples and talk to us.
- 9:46Putting their product on. Okay.
- 9:48We are drinking some local spirits today and wine.
- 9:53Do you want to talk a little bit about what's in their glass.
- 9:54And we'll go this way.
- 9:55Yeah.
- 9:56This is a wild roots Marion Dairy martini.
- 10:00It's, made with wild roots vodka.
- 10:02And that is made in sisters.
- 10:07So very local, very Oregon.
- 10:09And it's probably one of my favorite vodkas out there.
- 10:13Yeah, they have really good flavored vodka. Yes.
- 10:15That are so fun.
- 10:16And different drinks for sure.
- 10:17Yeah, it's all real fruit.
- 10:19Yeah. They only use real fruit juice in their vodka.
- 10:22I so that's why I really like it.
- 10:22Yeah, yeah.
- 10:24And that's why it's red. It's not clear.
- 10:27Like the other Marion Barry vodkas are clear with the cranberries color.
- 10:32Yeah. That's pretty.
- 10:33Yeah. There's color to it. Yeah.
- 10:35And the artwork, on the label is really nice.
- 10:37Yeah.
- 10:38You're drinking a Bloody Mary.
- 10:40Yeah, I do believe me.
- 10:41This with the potato vodka, Cascade Street potato vodka, because I like that.
- 10:45And then, we have a signature Bloody Mary seasoning mix that we make and, different concoctions that go in it.
- 10:53Yeah, it's all the things that go into it.
- 10:55And that's the best part about a Bloody Mary. It's a drink and a snack.
- 10:58Yeah. It's healthy for me.
- 11:00I'm getting my vitamin A tomato juice. It's.
- 11:02Yeah. Yeah.
- 11:03Perfect morning. Absolutely.
- 11:03It's a balance.
- 11:05It's a balance. And I go ahead.
- 11:07Sorry to the cascade.
- 11:08Sweet potato vodka is also made by Wild Roots.
- 11:12Yeah, yeah.
- 11:12Just throw that out there. Yeah.
- 11:14But both locally.
- 11:15And then I'm drinking Eola Hill's Pinot Noir, which is also here in the Willamette Valley as well.
- 11:21So delicious.
- 11:22Just right up the road. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:25How, how's your palate changed over the years owning a bar?
- 11:29Like, do you go through different seasons?
- 11:31Like, we were talking about espresso martinis earlier?
- 11:33Has I always been something you enjoy it or has it kind of changed over the years?
- 11:37Yeah.
- 11:40You never know what I'm going to drink.
- 11:41Like I'm a mood person to.
- 11:43Yeah, I am what mood am I in? Drink?
- 11:46So, like, I will get to the bar and I'm like, I don't know, I gotta think, I gotta think.
- 11:50Also, the temperature weighs on me, too.
- 11:52Like, if it's a million degrees outside, I can't drink certain things.
- 11:55Yeah, well, I'm already sweating.
- 11:55I don't need that.
- 11:58You know?
- 11:59Yeah. Summer. Like gin and tonic, right?
- 12:01Winter, like, you know, warm drinks, coffee, you know, nudge, coffee, nudge or something.
- 12:07But, Yeah.
- 12:08So me, I've always been, but I've always been that way.
- 12:11I've always kind of, wherever and whenever my heart takes me.
- 12:15Yeah.
- 12:17I've got my, like, the five things that I like to drink consistently.
- 12:23Julia's top five, and here we go.
- 12:26This is one of them.
- 12:27Yeah. But I like to try new things.
- 12:30So if I go out somewhere, I'll usually order something off of their drink.
- 12:34You sure you want to check out? Do it.
- 12:37And I am just figuring out my love for gin.
- 12:41So that is not something that I've really cared for in the past.
- 12:45Like I'm really liking some gin drinks.
- 12:48Nice. Yeah I love that.
- 12:49So you own arena Sports bar and then you mentioned another location or you want to talk about the other location.
- 12:56Yeah. Yeah.
- 12:56So we own rookie sports tap in Monmouth.
- 12:59So like Monmouth independents are basically they're nested.
- 13:02They're connected.
- 13:02They're they're really close.
- 13:04And it is a family friendly bar, which is a and it's more of a tap house.
- 13:10We have 40 different beers on draft.
- 13:12So there's something for everybody and lots of ciders.
- 13:15Oh if you're a cider drinker, we have at least ten of them are ciders.
- 13:20Which is really good.
- 13:22And we just got a gluten free beer on draft now too, which is.
- 13:25Yeah, really great.
- 13:27Really? Yeah.
- 13:27Yeah, yeah, just fish.
- 13:30Great. Great IPA.
- 13:32Yeah. It's really good.
- 13:34If I didn't if you didn't tell me it was gluten free, I wouldn't, you know.
- 13:36Yeah.
- 13:37That's, we also have, nonalcoholic root beer for kids.
- 13:41Oh, cool.
- 13:42Yeah, I love it.
- 13:43Yeah.
- 13:43So we get a lot more families over there that want to watch the games, and it's actually really cute.
- 13:47This is my third.
- 13:49You'll get dads, and they get their beer, and their kids will get their root beer and sit and watch the sports games together.
- 13:54It, and that's a lot of fun. Yeah.
- 13:57That's so cute.
- 13:58What made you decide? Like, you know what?
- 14:01This is going great. Let's open a second location.
- 14:03Or did it kind of come out of nowhere?
- 14:05Like, did someone reach out to you?
- 14:05Did you reach out to them?
- 14:08Well, so when we bought arena, we thought, like, what are our goals?
- 14:13You know, what are our five year goals?
- 14:15And sure, when we got five, ten, 15, 20 year goals, yeah, we decided that we wanted to expand on some level and we were getting close to that five year goal and hadn't really found anything or weren't really looking that hard.
- 14:29And, our friend Alex Trevino owned rookies, so, we knew that he had moved to Lincoln City and was traveling back and forth every day.
- 14:42Also busy doing, like the summer concert series for Independence and Lincoln City and some other things.
- 14:49And he is partial on a rusty truck as well, brewery in Lincoln City.
- 14:53So yeah.
- 14:54So we emailed him and asked him if he was interested in selling.
- 14:58Oh yeah.
- 14:59We're just like, well.
- 15:00And we also like, thought about the different bars in town before we.
- 15:03Yeah, we're like, well, hey, what fits with us and who we are and her style and what we like and we're like rookies is it just made the most sense to add to our portfolio.
- 15:14So what did you learn about managing two locations versus one?
- 15:18Like, was there anything that it's kind of like when you have one kid and you're like, oh, this is great, I'm ready for two.
- 15:24And then you get to kitchen like, Holy cow, what am I doing?
- 15:27Or was it not like that?
- 15:29There were some growing pains, a little bit, but not too bad because there's two of us.
- 15:33When people always ask us, oh, does one take care of one?
- 15:36One take care of the other?
- 15:36I'm like, nope.
- 15:38We both go back and forth.
- 15:39It's really just about like we talk in the morning like, hey, where are you at?
- 15:43What are you doing?
- 15:44And you know, what can you do today?
- 15:46And we were really good at dividing and conquering.
- 15:49And that's why it's important we both know how to do everything.
- 15:52Yeah. So we're like, oh okay.
- 15:54Well that makes the most sense for you to go to cash and Carry day.
- 15:57And I'll go over here and, you know, Oh. Then do you have managers at each location also help or do you manage both locations?
- 16:06We manage both locations.
- 16:08We don't have, a manager per se.
- 16:12But we do have senior staff who kind of take over some, duties.
- 16:18Sure.
- 16:19Like closing up or opening if one of you can't kind of a thing.
- 16:22Yeah.
- 16:23Or doing deposits of meat, or helping with the ordering.
- 16:28Yeah. Doing the Sysco order. Right. Yeah.
- 16:31Cash and carry.
- 16:32Well, cash will always be cash and carry, you know.
- 16:35Yeah. And I'm sorry. Us food chef store.
- 16:38It's cash carry.
- 16:42What about your menus?
- 16:44Like how have they changed over the years or like, do you have your tried and true I see like the hot wings behind us over here as a staple.
- 16:54We always have the hot wings.
- 16:55We have 26 different flavors.
- 16:56We do a seasonal one of them up sauce of the month.
- 17:00And we are known for our chicken wings here.
- 17:03They're really really really good.
- 17:06But the rest of the menu does change quite a bit.
- 17:08Yeah. Well wings and burgers stay.
- 17:11Yeah. Pretty consistent.
- 17:12And we'll add something and we look at, I'll look at a lot of reports.
- 17:17The numbers don't lie.
- 17:18What's selling what's not sure what's, what's price appropriately what's not, you know, so we're kind of figuring out what's working and what doesn't.
- 17:25Something's not selling.
- 17:28Then we'll try something else.
- 17:30Yeah, that is the key, because Miranda might like something, and I might think that it's not selling or selling, you know.
- 17:37Yeah, but.
- 17:38And then we'll run reports and we're like, oh, no, I bought all four of those.
- 17:43Yeah, yeah.
- 17:44And the numbers don't lie.
- 17:47And I think that that is a thing that a lot of restaurant owners do is that they'll say, well, I feel or I like or whatever.
- 17:56Sure. And it's not about that.
- 17:57It's about the numbers.
- 17:58Like, what do your customers like, what do what makes the most of sense according to cost to make time to make and selling and using data to analyze things is really important.
- 18:11Yeah.
- 18:11How often with like inflation and things like that.
- 18:14Do you reevaluate pricing on the menus?
- 18:18Pretty often.
- 18:19When I say quarterly, quarterly.
- 18:21This year we've been looking at, the trends, the cost trends a little bit more closely.
- 18:26Because the cost of things are higher ups.
- 18:29So, we're watching that a little bit more closely.
- 18:32But usually we do a pretty in-depth quarterly analysis.
- 18:36Nice. Yeah.
- 18:39And have you seen the costs go up significantly.
- 18:41Not necessarily on your menus but like on the back end.
- 18:44Oh yes. Yeah.
- 18:44Yeah yeah.
- 18:46Last year our accountant did our taxes and he goes I don't know what you need to do, but you need to do something because your cost of goods is through the roof.
- 18:53We know, we know. Yeah. What?
- 18:55Knowing our best. Yeah.
- 18:57But you can only raise prices so much, right?
- 19:00You gotta find that sweet spot and do things.
- 19:02And I think we. Yeah, we found it.
- 19:05We found a sweet spot.
- 19:07Other things that are not just like menu items.
- 19:10The costs are going up. Sure.
- 19:11Like napkins and all that stuff. Yeah.
- 19:13It's like it's those things that, that you don't kind of see that are behind the scenes of definitely increases.
- 19:20Yeah.
- 19:21But it has gone up quite a bit.
- 19:21I think it's funny.
- 19:23Yeah. Check.
- 19:25Yeah. Shopping. Yeah.
- 19:27But it's the other little things that.
- 19:29Yeah, it's all the little things that add up.
- 19:32Definitely.
- 19:32So what is some advice that you would give anybody that was like thinking about like the person you were when you wanted to buy this.
- 19:41Like if that same person was like I've been working in the industry for about ten years, I think I want to own.
- 19:47What are some advice you give them on, like where to start?
- 19:51Well, I definitely would tell them to have a really solid three years where you just want to work and not have any life.
- 20:03Yeah, that's any investment for sure.
- 20:05Yeah.
- 20:06People don't realize how much time it takes when you first buy a business, because you just don't know how to do things efficiently.
- 20:13Sure. And start.
- 20:16Yeah, yeah.
- 20:16And that learning curve is hard.
- 20:19And you have to spend time inside the business.
- 20:21You can't learn it from your house.
- 20:23So you're in the, you know wherever you are.
- 20:25We were behind that bar so much that first couple of years I mean.
- 20:31Const s.
- 20:32Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:34Yeah I think also doing market research about where what you want to do and where you want to be to make sure that that is a viable business.
- 20:42Yeah. For the location that you want.
- 20:45Because it's businesses are there hard and you want to make sure that you're making money.
- 20:50Truly that's ultimately that's the goal right.
- 20:54Make it look like.
- 20:54Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Provide something for you in your family. Yeah.
- 20:56Well is it a service that that that town region area needs.
- 21:00Like do you have to fill a need and a want and if and that's an important aspect.
- 21:06Absolutely.
- 21:07One I liked what you said about being flexible too.
- 21:10And like because I think sometimes entrepreneurs, especially green ones that are just starting and just wanting to dabble in their own business, have this idea like, this will be great.
- 21:19And then the market tells them different and they don't pivot and they're this like, no, but this is great.
- 21:24And you're like, but the market's telling you it would be if you just shifted a little bit.
- 21:28And so I love that you were like the numbers don't lie.
- 21:31Like yeah speak to the numbers.
- 21:33Move to the numbers. Yeah.
- 21:35Well you have to follow the trends too.
- 21:35Yeah.
- 21:37Like you said, there are trends with, cocktails or beers that we used.
- 21:45What about mocktails.
- 21:46That's a really popular thing right now.
- 21:48How have you shifted to incorporate mocktails.
- 21:50I'm actually really glad you brought that.
- 21:52Yeah. The younger generation aren't drinking right.
- 21:54They're just not.
- 21:54But they do like to go out. Great.
- 21:57So we have a mocktail menu.
- 22:00We have 5 or 6 different nonalcoholic beers available.
- 22:05And we really try to cater that.
- 22:09They used to be like Dry January, but now it's they're just they're not drinking as much, but they want to hang out still.
- 22:14So that's great. Yeah.
- 22:15And you know what?
- 22:17The nonalcoholic IPA has the same price as the other IPA.
- 22:20So I really am as a business owner.
- 22:22Yeah. It's not impacting you.
- 22:23I didn't actually if they don't come, but if they come and order nonalcoholic versus alcohol, that doesn't impact your bottom line.
- 22:28And they taste pretty good.
- 22:30Yeah.
- 22:31So and we're getting more bartenders that don't drink.
- 22:34Which is a really nice trend because you know bartenders are pretty well known for taking shots.
- 22:40And you know Oregon doesn't allow that.
- 22:43So you would never do that at our house.
- 22:45Absolutely not.
- 22:46We're compliant everywhere when they're off work.
- 22:49You know.
- 22:50But we have a lot of bartenders that don't drink and, and it's fine, but they're still great servers, right?
- 22:57And it's just a different culture.
- 23:00Yeah, it totally is. I've noticed that a lot.
- 23:02And I've used to like speaking to different restaurant owners, and wineries and things, and they're trying to figure out how to shift their business to accommodate the new culture, but also the seasoned culture of who their clientele is.
- 23:16Yeah.
- 23:17I think that we really try hard to do that.
- 23:19Again, coming back to circling back to, environment and culture.
- 23:25You know, we work really hard to make sure that this is a good place for everybody, that everybody is welcome, all ages, all walks of life, that everybody can come here and have a good time.
- 23:37Yeah.
- 23:38Rookies, do you also have nonalcoholic beer on tap there, too?
- 23:41Yeah, not on tap, but we do have it in the in the kitchen.
- 23:43Yeah, yeah. All right. Cool.
- 23:45Yeah.
- 23:45You have to have the nonalcoholic now.
- 23:47Yeah, you just have to, we don't have any CBD stuff, but no yet future.
- 23:54Yeah. That's becoming more and more.
- 23:55It is. Yeah.
- 23:57It's coming in and stuff like that. Yeah.
- 24:00What is on the horizon for you?
- 24:03Like, what's the next five, ten years look like another.
- 24:06Do you think you'll acquire a third location?
- 24:09We've talked about it, and we're always kind of keeping our ears to the ground to see if there's something that fits, our culture.
- 24:19In our life. Yeah.
- 24:20It has to fit into our lives.
- 24:22So what, do you want it to be in this area?
- 24:24Or would you maybe expand a little bit more?
- 24:27Realistically, it'd have to be pretty close.
- 24:30Because if you're in if you're in the establishment, right.
- 24:34Today, I don't want something that's too far away on our way that I have.
- 24:39Absolutely. It's just not.
- 24:41It's not feasible.
- 24:42Yeah, totally not something close.
- 24:44Yeah.
- 24:45Why, when we figure it out, well, we'll know.
- 24:47I will know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:51It's like, tell us.
- 24:51Yeah, it's like just like arena and rookies like our heads just tell us.
- 24:55So. Yep.
- 24:56That's where we need to be. Yeah.
- 24:57And and the opportunity came up and it was, I love that we're really lucky to have, been there at the right time.
- 25:05We worked really hard at it to.
- 25:07It's not just luck. No.
- 25:09We are filming right now in October, but this will actually be live and December.
- 25:15What are there any events or anything that, like you guys have over the years that people should know to check you guys out?
- 25:22Like, I know independence does a great 4th of July parade, so I'm sure you do stuff during that.
- 25:26Like are there different events?
- 25:26When would be a great time?
- 25:28Yeah, the non-local wanted to drive up from Portland Or come over and check you out.
- 25:32Well, I always say Independence Day is really big and independence, right?
- 25:36Like it makes sense.
- 25:37It's our time and that's our name.
- 25:38Yeah, yeah.
- 25:40So we do a huge festivals right over the in the park.
- 25:43There's fireworks.
- 25:43They shoot them off over the river.
- 25:46It is just it's fun. It's a good time.
- 25:48Lots of. Yeah.
- 25:49I've cut the parade a few times.
- 25:51Yeah. The parade is great.
- 25:52Rotary Club does that and it's wonderful.
- 25:55That summer concert series all summer long.
- 25:57So that's really nice.
- 25:59That's free on Friday nights, and then we're just right across the park from that so people can come in and have a drink and just grab something to eat.
- 26:07Yeah, grab something to eat.
- 26:09Yeah.
- 26:09We our signature events, we always do the paps and tats, fundraiser for ash Creek Arts Center.
- 26:16Oh, in November.
- 26:18So that will be after that.
- 26:19That's one of our big events that we do the local arts center.
- 26:23We partner with, tattoo shop across the street and street tattoo.
- 26:27Yep. And paps and we do, and then pretty much all of our vendors, we solicit all of our vendors.
- 26:34So like, yeah, Jeff, we have to just that are all our liquor wraps, right.
- 26:38Give us swag. Yeah. Please.
- 26:42And so Pendleton's really good about Pendleton helps us a lot.
- 26:46And then all of Jeff and our, bureau reps help us out.
- 26:51Yeah. And we raffle that.
- 26:53All the proceeds go to Ash Creek Art center.
- 26:56It's a local nonprofit.
- 26:57Very cool.
- 26:58Support arts of all mediums for all ages.
- 27:02I love that.
- 27:03And then obviously you can catch games here.
- 27:06You have games on all the time with the NFL Sunday Ticket.
- 27:09So we open early for the first game.
- 27:14Yeah.
- 27:14We open at 930 on Sundays during the NFL season.
- 27:17Other than that would normally open at 11.
- 27:19Yeah we it's pretty normal. Yeah.
- 27:20But for football we open up early.
- 27:20Yeah. And serve breakfast.
- 27:23That's the only day we serve breakfast.
- 27:23Oh I love that.
- 27:25Yeah. Awesome.
- 27:27Thank you.
- 27:28So much for having me today and for sharing your journey with me.
- 27:31I really appreciate it.
- 27:33And if you're ever in the independence area or in Monmouth, definitely go check out one of their locations or both.
- 27:38Make a day out of it.
- 27:39But drive responsibly. Okay.
- 27:42We have a hotel in town.
- 27:43Oh that's true.
- 27:44Cheers. Cheers. Thank you.
- 27:47Thanks everyone for listening.
- 27:49I can't wait to see you next week.
