- 0:17SPEAKER_06: It's a truth serum.
- 0:18SPEAKER_06: Are you ready for your dose?
- 0:21SPEAKER_06: It's a truth serum.
- 0:22SPEAKER_06: Are you ready for your dose?
- 0:27SPEAKER_03: Good morning, everybody.
- 0:28SPEAKER_06: Good morning, everyone.
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: We're filming on a Wednesday, so that means that you will be able to listen to this when you get ready for work.
- 0:34SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: It'll be out early.
- 0:36SPEAKER_05: It will.
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: I woke up Boped, Bob De Hill.
- 0:39SPEAKER_05: Bop da Hill.
- 0:41SPEAKER_03: Y'all, do you ever have those mornings where you wake up hot creases on your arms?
- 0:47SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 0:47SPEAKER_03: Like cross-eyed left and right.
- 0:50SPEAKER_06: No, every other episode.
- 0:51SPEAKER_03: Hair turodoo.
- 0:53SPEAKER_03: I literally didn't know what day it was.
- 0:55SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 0:56SPEAKER_03: I just want Apple to if Apple, if you hear this, if if the if anyone that works at Apple is listening to this to this podcast, they are.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: If you're gonna have an alarm app, you need to be reliant.
- 1:07SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 1:08SPEAKER_03: Do you realize that if you are in a if you're if you are if you present yourself as an alarm that is going to wake somebody up for their day, that if you do not fulfill the promise that you made, you actually can like ruin someone's life.
- 1:20SPEAKER_06: They also probably think you're gonna have like a clock, like a No, not at all.
- 1:25SPEAKER_06: Like one of those, like that you spring off the table and you slam and they not realize that like they replaced the alarm clock.
- 1:33SPEAKER_06: Like I don't think they do.
- 1:34SPEAKER_03: Like I re like I always wanted to be like that kid in high school that wakes up for school and it's like oh and then you're like I always wanted a red.
- 1:40SPEAKER_06: You know those ones that look like the Disney ears?
- 1:42SPEAKER_06: Like, no, I oh you wanted one of those.
- 1:44SPEAKER_06: I wanted one of those that like sprung off the counter and was like, I get what you're saying.
- 1:49SPEAKER_06: And then you have to like slam the top.
- 1:51SPEAKER_03: I wanted like an an like a digital one that you hit the top of, and then you could be like, oh, mom, and then you like roll over.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and then I dress for school.
- 1:58SPEAKER_03: My mom's like, that's not appropriate.
- 2:00SPEAKER_06: Have one yeah, have one bite of bacon.
- 2:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:03SPEAKER_03: So anyway, bully someone on my way there.
- 2:06SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 2:06SPEAKER_03: Um, but yeah, if you're gonna be an alarm clock, I just need you to like get it together.
- 2:09SPEAKER_03: Like you're not allowed to just not go off.
- 2:11SPEAKER_03: I agree.
- 2:11SPEAKER_03: And okay, so something about me that I So just updated overnight.
- 2:14SPEAKER_03: So I yeah, my iOS updated, and then I went.
- 2:16SPEAKER_03: So here's what I do.
- 2:18SPEAKER_03: If I need to wake up at a certain time, for example, today I needed to wake up at 7:30.
- 2:23SPEAKER_03: I know I was gonna wake up at 7:30.
- 2:25SPEAKER_03: What I do is I set a 7:30 alarm and then I set a 6.30 a.m.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: alarm.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: Because one thing about me is when I wake up, I can go immediately back to bed.
- 2:34SPEAKER_03: I hate waking up and it being the time I have to wake up.
- 2:36SPEAKER_03: So what I do is I set one an hour early so that I can wake up, look at it, and it says, you have an hour left of sleep.
- 2:42SPEAKER_03: And it's just like a reward.
- 2:43SPEAKER_03: It's such a reward.
- 2:44SPEAKER_03: And then I go back to sleep for an hour and then I wake up.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: Both did not go.
- 2:48SPEAKER_06: I cannot do that.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: It's impossible for me to like not wake up if I if the alarm goes.
- 2:52SPEAKER_03: Like, I can't sleep through an alarm.
- 2:53SPEAKER_03: Like, there's two.
- 2:54SPEAKER_06: I have two, I have two alarm clock apps.
- 2:56SPEAKER_06: I have alarm and then I have alarm y.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: Okay, I think I need to download alarm y.
- 3:01SPEAKER_06: Okay, I love alarming because it is the most annoying.
- 3:03SPEAKER_06: I have to do like a puzzle, literally a physical puzzle to wake up, like to turn it off.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: See, I don't know if that would do much for me, only because I literally you could bring a bulldozer through my body.
- 3:13SPEAKER_06: No, and these are there's bulldozer sounds.
- 3:15SPEAKER_06: Like there, it is like the loudest, like it is like the loudest alarm clock.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: But what I'm saying for me is it's like, yes, I wake up at anything, but I also can sleep through anything.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: So if I wake up and it's that, literally a full-on tractor could be going through my bedroom.
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: And I would wake up and go, oh, and then I'd go back to bed.
- 3:29SPEAKER_06: Okay, that makes sense.
- 3:30SPEAKER_06: I'm a 7:30, 731, 734, 737 person.
- 3:35SPEAKER_06: Okay, not me.
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: I need I'm like an I'm an hour before.
- 3:38SPEAKER_06: I need a seven-minute buffer or something like that.
- 3:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 3:40SPEAKER_03: Put the camera on me.
- 3:44SPEAKER_03: Better.
- 3:45SPEAKER_06: You feel better?
- 3:46SPEAKER_03: I'm glasses.
- 3:46SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna go glasses less today.
- 3:48SPEAKER_06: Glassesless?
- 3:49SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 3:49SPEAKER_06: Um, it's like makeup.
- 3:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:51SPEAKER_03: But um, anyway, so how was your week?
- 3:55SPEAKER_06: It was good.
- 3:56SPEAKER_06: I was trying, I was talking to Aaron earlier.
- 3:58SPEAKER_06: I could not remember what I did the last week.
- 4:00SPEAKER_06: Okay, we we already talked about Sunset Social.
- 4:02SPEAKER_06: We never talked about Austin Limited.
- 4:04SPEAKER_03: We never talked about the fact that we went to Austin.
- 4:05SPEAKER_03: We went to Austin City Limits.
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: Like the last episode we recorded that week, we had gone to Austin City Limits.
- 4:11SPEAKER_06: And we were like, let's we're gonna talk about Austin next week.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: We never talked about it.
- 4:14SPEAKER_06: We never talked about it.
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I got to see Charlie XCX Live for the first time, which I was super excited about because I've had never been able to see her.
- 4:20SPEAKER_06: Guys, I always see those ACL videos, and this is my first like festival circuit this year because of like turnstile, Trevor.
- 4:28SPEAKER_06: Like, I always see those um shots of the whole crowd, and there's like 50,000 people.
- 4:32SPEAKER_06: I'm like, oh my gosh, like being in the middle of that would be awful.
- 4:34SPEAKER_06: That was us.
- 4:35SPEAKER_06: Like we were literally in the middle of that.
- 4:37SPEAKER_03: It's not as scary and big, like when you're in it, it doesn't feel that way.
- 4:41SPEAKER_06: It doesn't feel that way.
- 4:42SPEAKER_06: But I will tell you this if there is a big headliner and you are going, you need to go with an appropriate amount of time and wait and wait your turn.
- 4:51SPEAKER_06: Because people will annihilate you, especially at Charlie XTX.
- 4:56SPEAKER_06: Those fans, like, I don't know if they're like, you know, they're just insane.
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: Oh, y'all know the girl in the viral video that, but I'm a member of this community.
- 5:03SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 5:04SPEAKER_03: That girl literally was standing right in front of us, not actually her, but like that's how you have to be.
- 5:08SPEAKER_06: It that's I don't I forgot her name, but there was this girl, like there was this group of girls.
- 5:13SPEAKER_06: We actually did not like them.
- 5:14SPEAKER_06: It was like two girls and a brother and sister.
- 5:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we actually didn't really like them.
- 5:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah, we were in front, and then they got in front of us, and I literally said, like, can you move over?
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: Like, I was But then they defended our area, and I literally said to them, I go, guys, I'm actually glad that you're doing this because I don't want more people standing here, but I have to tell you, like, I've been mad at you for the last 30 minutes because you actually did that to because what pissed me off is like they scooted up and stood right in front of us, and we had been waiting there.
- 5:38SPEAKER_03: And then the whole before her show started, they kept being like, I hate when people just try to walk up and think they can stand here.
- 5:43SPEAKER_03: And I literally was like, You just did that to us.
- 5:45SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 5:45SPEAKER_03: Then we're then we united forces and we were like the enemy of an enemy is my friend.
- 5:48SPEAKER_06: So also, yes.
- 5:49SPEAKER_06: And then also, she she got a little aggressive.
- 5:52SPEAKER_06: She like was like pushing people down, like with someone would come and be like a girl, she hit a girl in the face, but I'm just like, okay.
- 5:57SPEAKER_03: Here's the thing, I was like, I'm happy for my standing room, but I was like, Oh, like we're we're jumping, okay.
- 6:02SPEAKER_06: And then the lies would come up.
- 6:04SPEAKER_06: There was like people coming up through, and she was like, What was she like?
- 6:07SPEAKER_06: What did she say?
- 6:08SPEAKER_06: Her iconic line.
- 6:09SPEAKER_03: So I can't decide what I want.
- 6:11SPEAKER_03: Oh, oh yeah.
- 6:12SPEAKER_03: She goes, 'cause the the the thing that people love to do is they say, My friends up there.
- 6:17SPEAKER_03: My friend's up there.
- 6:17SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh, I see her right there.
- 6:19SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 6:20SPEAKER_03: Where?
- 6:21SPEAKER_06: Where?
- 6:21SPEAKER_06: Show us what we're doing.
- 6:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, show us your friend.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: And then, so, and then the girl, she goes, she goes, she goes, There's no room for you here.
- 6:29SPEAKER_03: And she goes, Well, my friends are up there.
- 6:31SPEAKER_03: She goes, Well, you're late.
- 6:32SPEAKER_03: Bye.
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: And I was like, honestly, yeah, you're late.
- 6:35SPEAKER_06: And all of us looked at the girl, we're like, Yeah, bye.
- 6:37SPEAKER_06: You're late.
- 6:38SPEAKER_06: Yeah, literally bye.
- 6:39SPEAKER_06: You're late.
- 6:39SPEAKER_03: Literally, you're by.
- 6:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 6:41SPEAKER_06: Anyway.
- 6:41SPEAKER_06: Anyway, so it's really good.
- 6:43SPEAKER_03: Turnstyle was super fun.
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: Trevor got to see Trevor.
- 6:45SPEAKER_03: I, yeah.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:47SPEAKER_03: It was fun.
- 6:47SPEAKER_03: ACL was super fun.
- 6:48SPEAKER_03: Um, my car got hit and ran the other day.
- 6:52SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 6:53SPEAKER_06: Amazing segue.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: My car got hit, yeah.
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that girl hit a Charlie XCX fan and a random big brown Tahoe hit my Bronco.
- 7:01SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: So I decided to come and help Lauren with like an a nonprofit and a church, whatever, to build a ramp.
- 7:09SPEAKER_03: When I explained to people building a ramp, we're talking about like a 10-hour job of like real wood and nails work.
- 7:18SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 7:19SPEAKER_03: Not like a slapping down a piece of plywood that goes like no.
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: I don't know how to like.
- 7:24SPEAKER_06: It's built to last.
- 7:25SPEAKER_06: It's ADA compliant.
- 7:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it is literally like imagine like literally sawing wood and drills and hammers and nails and measurements.
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: Like it is a huge, like a level one.
- 7:35SPEAKER_03: Then to this.
- 7:36SPEAKER_06: Yes, we're gonna find the rise of a run, yeah, have platforms, everything.
- 7:40SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, rise of a run.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: That is a blast from the past.
- 7:44SPEAKER_06: I know that's how you measure it.
- 7:45SPEAKER_03: Um, no, no, I know.
- 7:46SPEAKER_03: Yes, but I just forgot about rise of a run.
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: Everyone talks about Pim Daz Justice for Rise of a Run.
- 7:50SPEAKER_06: Yes, I love rise of a run.
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: Um, I um got hit a rise.
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: So you were drilling.
- 7:55SPEAKER_03: So I'm drilling.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: Duro tu.
- 7:57SPEAKER_03: I look over and I just see a big brown Tahoe like annihilate my car.
- 8:02SPEAKER_06: And it was the biggest pop, whatever.
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: The thing about so loud.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: And I look and it's just and it's just my car that I already can't afford.
- 8:09SPEAKER_03: And I'm looking at it and I go sped off.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: Sped off skirt.
- 8:16SPEAKER_03: And everyone runs over, and I'm like this.
- 8:18SPEAKER_03: My face is literally like this.
- 8:20SPEAKER_06: And I had to, I had to pull everyone to uh to the side and say, hey guys, do not ask Dom about his car.
- 8:26SPEAKER_06: I literally asked every single person because there was so many people wanting to.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: Advice here.
- 8:31SPEAKER_03: You should call it.
- 8:31SPEAKER_03: Insurance.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: And I literally was like, everybody, Lauren's the only one here that knows that my insurance relapsed three days ago.
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: Like, everyone, shut up.
- 8:40SPEAKER_03: Unless you are literally cashabbing me, be quiet.
- 8:43SPEAKER_03: Or writing a check.
- 8:44SPEAKER_03: The only sound I want to hear is the Venmo notification or the sound of a bic pen hitting a check.
- 8:50SPEAKER_03: That is all I want to hear.
- 8:51SPEAKER_03: Other than that, keep drilling.
- 8:53SPEAKER_06: They're like, oh, that could be covered by insurance.
- 8:55SPEAKER_03: I don't care.
- 8:56SPEAKER_06: They were being sweet, but as soon as Dom went to the road, I literally looked at everyone.
- 9:00SPEAKER_06: My volunteers that I was meeting for the road sound, I'm like, hey, I know this happened to Dom.
- 9:04SPEAKER_06: Um, but I would appreciate just hey, don't mention to him at all.
- 9:08SPEAKER_06: People get overwhelmed when people, a bunch of voices, they're like, okay, got it, got it, and they're back to their jobs.
- 9:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I literally I went like this.
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: I go, I don't want to see it.
- 9:17SPEAKER_03: So I go over there.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: And the side of my door scraped a piece of plastic off, mirror, dented.
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: I will say this.
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: It could have been so much worse.
- 9:28SPEAKER_03: And I'm genuinely so thankful.
- 9:29SPEAKER_03: And this isn't a truth serious, but I'm gonna teach everyone.
- 9:31SPEAKER_03: It's called radical acceptance.
- 9:33SPEAKER_03: There are some things you cannot change.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: I cannot change the fact that a big brown Tahoe rammed into my car.
- 9:38SPEAKER_06: At all.
- 9:38SPEAKER_03: What am I?
- 9:39SPEAKER_03: There's literally nothing I can do about it.
- 9:40SPEAKER_03: There, like not a single thing.
- 9:42SPEAKER_03: Me being upset about it was not gonna do anything.
- 9:44SPEAKER_03: I it literally was gonna ruin it.
- 9:45SPEAKER_03: It was it I cried later.
- 9:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:47SPEAKER_03: But and it's not suppressing emotions.
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: Like I literally was just like, this is radical acceptance.
- 9:51SPEAKER_03: There's literally nothing I can do about that.
- 9:52SPEAKER_06: But like, was he supposed to just like spit in the senior's face and be like, I'm not finishing a ramp?
- 9:56SPEAKER_06: Like, good job.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: Like you're like, you know, I was not supposed to go, hmm.
- 9:59SPEAKER_03: Like, I was I supposed to stomp in the ground with my wrists out like this and go, hmm.
- 10:04SPEAKER_03: Like, I there's literally nothing I can do.
- 10:06SPEAKER_06: Or go out and look at it and go, and like starting hitting yourself in the head.
- 10:11unknown: Stupid, stupid.
- 10:12SPEAKER_03: So anyway, radical acceptance.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: And then um I'm getting my car detailed this week anyway, and he thinks he can buff out the paint.
- 10:19SPEAKER_03: I will say this there are some internal issues here.
- 10:22SPEAKER_03: There are some internal issues that have been caused by this, by this little ruckus, by the way.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:27SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 10:28SPEAKER_03: Um when I drive, because we were like, oh, it's not that bad.
- 10:31SPEAKER_03: Like it's just like a few cosmetic things.
- 10:33SPEAKER_03: So when I drive, I was driving with no music on on the way here.
- 10:37SPEAKER_03: Just to hear.
- 10:37SPEAKER_06: There's a like there's a little Okay, we'll have to investigate.
- 10:43SPEAKER_03: Whoa, that's a good re and then also um my right blinker.
- 10:51SPEAKER_03: When I put on my right blinker, it goes this fast.
- 10:54SPEAKER_06: That's what my last card is.
- 10:55SPEAKER_03: Like so fast.
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: But then the left one goes.
- 10:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's what my last card is that.
- 11:00SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 11:02SPEAKER_03: So I'm just I'm just a I'm just a soundbox today.
- 11:05SPEAKER_06: You're a soundbox.
- 11:07SPEAKER_03: But what's crazy is the brown Tahoe then came came back.
- 11:09SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 11:10SPEAKER_03: I look over and I see the brown.
- 11:12SPEAKER_03: I've seen one brown Tahoe in my life and it hit my car.
- 11:14SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 11:15SPEAKER_03: The brown Tahoe drives by to, I think to see if they were back to sculpt the scene.
- 11:22SPEAKER_03: I think they wanted to see if I was calling like the cops.
- 11:25unknown: Yeah.
- 11:26SPEAKER_03: As soon as I look around and see it was them.
- 11:27SPEAKER_03: The loudest skirt, the loudest.
- 11:30SPEAKER_06: They saw all of us see their car, and then they skirted away.
- 11:34SPEAKER_06: I did love that they returned to the scene of the car.
- 11:35SPEAKER_06: I thought that was kind of tough.
- 11:36SPEAKER_06: And then my mom, okay, and then my mom hops in the car, and then she's like, I'm gonna go find them.
- 11:41SPEAKER_06: She goes.
- 11:42SPEAKER_03: Lauren's mom gets in her car to go find.
- 11:43SPEAKER_03: I'm like, what are you gonna do when you find them?
- 11:45SPEAKER_06: Confront them and what?
- 11:46SPEAKER_06: Like instead of what you did was mean.
- 11:50SPEAKER_06: You need to leave.
- 11:51SPEAKER_06: No, literally, there was nothing she could do.
- 11:53SPEAKER_03: There's nothing she could do.
- 11:55SPEAKER_06: Anyway.
- 11:56SPEAKER_03: So that happened.
- 11:58SPEAKER_06: We've had a good past week.
- 12:00SPEAKER_06: Other than that, other than that, um I rediscovered our we rediscovered a hot tub.
- 12:04SPEAKER_06: We've been loving hot tubbing recently.
- 12:06SPEAKER_03: Oh, loving hot tubbing.
- 12:06SPEAKER_03: Me and Dom use a hot tub like every day.
- 12:08SPEAKER_03: It's perfect weather.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: I bought this shirt.
- 12:10SPEAKER_03: Um, I leave I I dyed my hair.
- 12:13SPEAKER_06: He dyed his hair.
- 12:14SPEAKER_03: Darker.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: Um, I will get a move on, but I leave for New York tomorrow, which I'm super.
- 12:21SPEAKER_03: I I I will say this.
- 12:22SPEAKER_03: All the trips that I've done this summer, I think I had so much stress attached to it that I couldn't be just excited for them.
- 12:27SPEAKER_03: It was like excited, but also stressed.
- 12:29SPEAKER_06: Are you able to share what you're doing?
- 12:31SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 12:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah, what are you doing this weekend?
- 12:33SPEAKER_03: But there's a Minky Couture, which is a um blanket brand.
- 12:36SPEAKER_06: There's a perfect time to go because Lola, Lola Branket is uh they have a little controversy right now with the quality.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: Lola's canceled.
- 12:43SPEAKER_06: Yes, and then Minky is on the rise, even more.
- 12:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so they're doing an event in New York with like a bunch of influencers and people, and I'm got invited with uh Marciona and Jesse and Kate and everybody.
- 12:53SPEAKER_05: That'll be fun.
- 12:54SPEAKER_03: So yes, Dom Talks on the rise.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: But truly.
- 12:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I'll be there till Sunday.
- 13:00SPEAKER_03: I can't wait.
- 13:00SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna see Kelly and Jordan, some of my friends that are there.
- 13:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that'll be awesome.
- 13:04SPEAKER_03: Excited to see them too.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: Me too.
- 13:06SPEAKER_03: But anyway, do you wanna do you have anything you want to say before we get into our truth serums?
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: Okay, let's get into our truth serums, which our truth serums are just things that we want to get off our chests.
- 13:14SPEAKER_03: It's our truth serum.
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:16SPEAKER_03: So you go for it.
- 13:17SPEAKER_03: What's yours?
- 13:17SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 13:19SPEAKER_06: In honor of Halloween coming up, please do not get me candy from a bowl that's mixed with both fruit and chocolate.
- 13:31SPEAKER_06: I cannot have a little bit of berry.
- 13:35SPEAKER_06: Me and Dom are gonna go insane because we we can tell when we can tell when candy has been mixed.
- 13:42SPEAKER_06: Like let's just say there's we can tell when there's like a little uh Hershey bar.
- 13:47SPEAKER_06: And we can also tell when there's like 16 packages of Skittles and Starburst on top.
- 13:53SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it seeps through the packaging into and changes the notes of that chocolate to berry, a hint o berry.
- 14:01SPEAKER_03: And this is like not even just a wee, like guys, have you ever bit into a candy bar and you taste berry?
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: Yes, not a berry flavored chocolate bar.
- 14:09SPEAKER_03: Like you bite into a little Hershey's or a little whatever and you just taste a hint of berry.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: An adjacent berry.
- 14:15SPEAKER_06: I just know that like in a warehouse.
- 14:18SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 14:18SPEAKER_06: And if I had a warehouse that I was like, if I was working for like Mars or something like that, I would have all like the country?
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: No.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: The country.
- 14:25SPEAKER_03: The country.
- 14:26SPEAKER_06: Oh wow.
- 14:26SPEAKER_06: Like the country.
- 14:29SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 14:30SPEAKER_06: Like the planet?
- 14:31SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 14:31SPEAKER_06: Um, no, the distribution like um for all the the major candies.
- 14:36SPEAKER_06: Oh, I don't know the at the risk of sounding fat.
- 14:38SPEAKER_06: Um so if I had a warehouse of a foundational company.
- 14:42SPEAKER_06: Yes, if I had a warehouse of them, I would put like aisle A and aisle B would be filled with chocolate.
- 14:48SPEAKER_03: Aisle F G, whatever comes up their F down there, aisles down with the We're at the risk of sounding sounding so stupid today.
- 14:58SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 14:58SPEAKER_03: I just called Mars a country.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: Sorry, I'm still on that.
- 15:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 15:02SPEAKER_03: We like to show our humility because don't give us a berry flavored chocolate.
- 15:06SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 15:06SPEAKER_06: So that's mine.
- 15:07SPEAKER_06: And so when I go trick-or-treating or, you know, like have a kid with me, um, have two different bowls.
- 15:13SPEAKER_06: Have one with chocolate and one with berry.
- 15:15SPEAKER_06: I'm telling you.
- 15:16SPEAKER_03: I don't know why I thought you were just hinting to me that you're pregnant.
- 15:20SPEAKER_06: Oh, hell.
- 15:21SPEAKER_03: No, when you go, or have a kid with me.
- 15:24SPEAKER_03: Not before I go to LA.
- 15:25SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 15:26SPEAKER_03: No, I'm with you completely.
- 15:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:28SPEAKER_03: And utterly.
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: Mine is there are a few things in this world that piss me off more than adult whispering.
- 15:40SPEAKER_06: You do hate adult whispering.
- 15:43SPEAKER_03: If you are above the age of 18, you are not allowed to lean over with a hand over mouth and whisper to somebody.
- 15:53SPEAKER_06: Dumb hate secret shared in front of them.
- 15:55SPEAKER_03: Literally, here's the thing, even with me, there have been times where you have tried to whisper to me in a group setting, and I literally am like absolutely not.
- 16:04SPEAKER_06: Don't adult whisper.
- 16:05SPEAKER_03: It is genuinely in my mind, I'm not calling you rude.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: So sorry.
- 16:09SPEAKER_03: It is the rudest thing you can do as an adult to me.
- 16:12SPEAKER_03: I don't know what it is.
- 16:14SPEAKER_03: There is somebody around me as of lately that whispers at the table.
- 16:21SPEAKER_03: At a table of people will lean over, hand over mouth, and whisper into the personality.
- 16:26SPEAKER_06: What happened to texting?
- 16:27SPEAKER_06: I slyly text.
- 16:29SPEAKER_06: Me and Dom text at every single event, every single function, every single table.
- 16:32SPEAKER_03: And sorry, I'm outing myself, but if we're sitting at a table and you see me just flip my phone over to face down, it's because I know Lauren just picked up her phone and she's texting me.
- 16:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 16:40SPEAKER_03: But if you do not grow up, it is literally so rude.
- 16:45SPEAKER_03: It is so disrespectful, and it makes you look 12.
- 16:48SPEAKER_06: Really?
- 16:48SPEAKER_06: I love a little whisper.
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: No, it's so much.
- 16:50SPEAKER_06: Because the thing, there's some things that you just need to like say like really quick and be like, hey, like I It makes everybody at the table uncomfortable.
- 16:57SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 16:57SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 16:58SPEAKER_06: You've got a pulse check from every single person at the table.
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: I promise you that if you lean over and whisper to somebody and there are other adults there, it it's like that, it's so it is so rude.
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: Uh-huh.
- 17:08SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna take your word for it.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: I think it's so rude.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: And the thing is, is you're not a rude.
- 17:12SPEAKER_03: It's actually interesting.
- 17:13SPEAKER_03: You're somebody that like reads the room, not that you're not reading the room well.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: You read the room so well and you are very catering to how the people around you feel.
- 17:20SPEAKER_03: So it does shock me that you are willing to adult whisper.
- 17:23SPEAKER_06: I haven't done it in a while.
- 17:24SPEAKER_03: You haven't.
- 17:24SPEAKER_03: I will say that.
- 17:25SPEAKER_06: I haven't as soon as you call, because like the one time you call me out, you'll be like, oh, you can say whatever it is in front of everyone, adult whisperer.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: And I was like, Because I will go the complete opposite way.
- 17:34SPEAKER_03: Whatever it is, I will literally say, you can say it out loud.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: And then I even I may not want you to, but I would actually rather you say it out loud and it'd be awful than you adult whisper.
- 17:45SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 17:45SPEAKER_03: Like I just think it's so awful.
- 17:46SPEAKER_05: Well noted.
- 17:48SPEAKER_03: Okay, let's get into our weekly or yeah.
- 17:50SPEAKER_03: Whoa.
- 17:51SPEAKER_03: Whoa.
- 17:51SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, buffer.
- 17:53SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 17:53SPEAKER_03: Um, do you want to tell everybody what your hoodie is and what they should stay tuned for at the end of the episode?
- 17:59SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 17:59SPEAKER_06: So this hoodie is from the 2023 Dreamland Festival.
- 18:04SPEAKER_06: Um put on by Steph Simon.
- 18:07SPEAKER_06: And at the end of this, I actually had Steph in the studio earlier today, and we have a five to seven minute um little talk at the end about his festival coming up next month.
- 18:16SPEAKER_06: So please stay tuned.
- 18:18SPEAKER_03: Is the festival in Tulsa?
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: Yes, it's in Tulsa.
- 18:21SPEAKER_03: That's so fun.
- 18:22SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 18:22SPEAKER_06: It'll be awesome.
- 18:23SPEAKER_06: They're about to announce the hip hop lineup um very shortly.
- 18:28SPEAKER_06: But pretty much um just a quick thing is that he wanted to create a space where um artists can perform at because he helps develop artists in high school.
- 18:37SPEAKER_06: And so there's such a disconnect between like all of the prep and all of the classes and everything in high school, and then opportunities once you're old enough to start performing and like doing things.
- 18:46SPEAKER_06: So he brings this group of kids from like Webster McLean out to different things.
- 18:51SPEAKER_06: I know at Gathering Place we hosted them out and then they were there.
- 18:55SPEAKER_06: We actually watched them at Juneteenth festival with Jimmy's.
- 18:59SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 19:00SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 19:00SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 19:01SPEAKER_06: I think it was Legacy Vest or Juneteenth as well.
- 19:03SPEAKER_06: I think one of the two.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: One of the two.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 19:06SPEAKER_03: Great fun.
- 19:06SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 19:07SPEAKER_03: Okay, we're gonna get into our weekly doses, which our weekly dose is we both bring some pop culture headlines um and we just talk about it.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: Um we've been again, we've been doing this thing where we don't know what each other's tooth streams are, we don't know what we don't we have not been discussing before.
- 19:21SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 19:22SPEAKER_03: So there's a world where we both brought the same one.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: But I'll go first.
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: Um, and if you have it, you can just say you have it.
- 19:28SPEAKER_03: Dancing with the stars?
- 19:30SPEAKER_06: No.
- 19:30SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 19:31SPEAKER_06: Not in any lifetime.
- 19:32SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 19:33SPEAKER_03: Well, here's the thing.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: I'm only doing this because of some controversy, not because of like a recap or anything.
- 19:37SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 19:38SPEAKER_03: Um, sorry, I'm just like, hey, I like today.
- 19:41SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 19:41SPEAKER_06: No, you look great.
- 19:42SPEAKER_03: Dancing with the stars drama explodes as Val Sherkovsky gets suspended.
- 19:46SPEAKER_03: Have you heard about this?
- 19:47SPEAKER_06: Yes, with Carrie Ann and his comments.
- 19:49SPEAKER_03: Which I didn't know until I saw her name spelled out.
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: It's Annaba with a B.
- 19:53SPEAKER_06: Did you say Enaba before?
- 19:54SPEAKER_03: It was Annab.
- 19:55SPEAKER_03: I thought it was Anava.
- 19:56SPEAKER_06: Oh, anaba.
- 19:57SPEAKER_03: Um after defending his wife Jenna Johnson with a controversial Will Smith Oscar slap reference aimed at Judge Kerry Ann Anaba, the pro dancer issued an apology, but was benched for a week as the backlash intensified.
- 20:09SPEAKER_06: Is all he said keep my wife's name?
- 20:12SPEAKER_03: No.
- 20:12SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 20:13SPEAKER_03: Didn't even say that.
- 20:14SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 20:15SPEAKER_03: Also, I'm not just I'm not saying that he should have done this joke.
- 20:18SPEAKER_03: He said, Y'all were about to see fresh prints out there.
- 20:23SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 20:24SPEAKER_03: He never said to keep my wife's name out of your mouth.
- 20:26SPEAKER_03: He never posted or or like a meme or anything about the slap ever.
- 20:31SPEAKER_06: So they were just inferring and just being like, like even though that's what he meant, they were just here's the thing.
- 20:37SPEAKER_03: In my mind, what else could have been?
- 20:41SPEAKER_03: He could have just done like keep my wife's name out your mouth, and I think we would have been like, oh got it.
- 20:44SPEAKER_03: Like, whatever.
- 20:45SPEAKER_06: I mean, that would have just solidified it.
- 20:47SPEAKER_06: I think this was even more of a reach, though.
- 20:49SPEAKER_06: I know what's that's what he meant.
- 20:50SPEAKER_06: But I mean, if it was me, of like, you know, what was that in high school?
- 20:54SPEAKER_06: I um the Netflix and chill.
- 20:57SPEAKER_06: Like you just spin a web.
- 20:59SPEAKER_06: Like you could be like fresh prints and like make up something else.
- 21:01SPEAKER_03: But then the issue is his apology was like, I should have never done this.
- 21:05SPEAKER_03: It was so disrespectful, blah, blah, blah.
- 21:06SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, oh, so you did mean that.
- 21:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 21:10SPEAKER_03: There were so many routes.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: There were so many routes that he could have taken to come to come out almost unscathed.
- 21:18SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 21:19SPEAKER_03: Like, because now I'm like, oh, you did mean the the Oscar slap.
- 21:23SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 21:24SPEAKER_03: I I knew he meant keep my wife's name out of your mouth.
- 21:26SPEAKER_03: Keep my wife's name out of your mouth and slapping somebody, even though it was the same scenario.
- 21:30SPEAKER_03: Like, I think he could have said, keep my wife's name out your mouth.
- 21:33SPEAKER_03: And it would have been like, oh, funny reverence.
- 21:35SPEAKER_06: No, that would yeah, that would have been even worse.
- 21:37SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 21:37SPEAKER_06: Yes, because they would have it literally known and been like, okay, well, he's gonna harm her.
- 21:42SPEAKER_03: I think that if he literally posted the meme, keep my wife's name out your F mouth.
- 21:48SPEAKER_03: I think if he posted that, I don't think.
- 21:50SPEAKER_06: Was there an F word in there?
- 21:51SPEAKER_06: Did you add it?
- 21:52SPEAKER_06: Out your There was no.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: No, there was.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: Yes, there was.
- 21:55SPEAKER_03: Yes, there was.
- 21:56SPEAKER_03: There was?
- 21:56SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 21:58SPEAKER_06: Really?
- 21:58SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 21:58SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: I think that if he posted just that clip, I think it would have been because it's so specific to just that moment.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: I think there's a world where it's it's literally like start and end, people would not have made it about a slap.
- 22:12SPEAKER_05: Oh, maybe.
- 22:13SPEAKER_03: But saying you were about to see fresh prints out there makes it sound like, oh, he's gonna walk on stage and slap someone.
- 22:20SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 22:21SPEAKER_03: All's to say he could have gotten out of this.
- 22:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 22:25SPEAKER_03: Because I I wouldn't have thought that's what he meant.
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: And now I'm like, oh, you're dumb.
- 22:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:30SPEAKER_03: You're so dumb.
- 22:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 22:31SPEAKER_05: That was not a good movie.
- 22:32SPEAKER_03: But now he's suspended.
- 22:33SPEAKER_03: And also I will say this Carrie Ann Inaba is a necessary evil.
- 22:37SPEAKER_03: I don't like her and she pisses me off.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: But every show needs that.
- 22:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 22:42SPEAKER_03: I also found out yesterday that um Glenn died.
- 22:45SPEAKER_06: Who's Glenn?
- 22:46SPEAKER_03: The older guy that used to be a judge on the show.
- 22:50SPEAKER_03: I did not know that.
- 22:51SPEAKER_03: Because everyone was saying that he um used to be like the Simon.
- 22:56SPEAKER_06: Really?
- 22:56SPEAKER_03: And now it's like Carrie, I guess.
- 22:58SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 22:58SPEAKER_03: When did he go to the house?
- 22:59SPEAKER_03: Let me make sure.
- 23:00SPEAKER_03: Did Glenn die?
- 23:03SPEAKER_03: I don't know his last name.
- 23:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he passed.
- 23:07SPEAKER_06: Oh no.
- 23:07SPEAKER_06: Rest in peace.
- 23:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:09SPEAKER_03: Um, but anyway.
- 23:12SPEAKER_03: Um also uh he could have gone.
- 23:15SPEAKER_03: He could have.
- 23:16SPEAKER_03: I I now that I know that it is what he meant, I mean I guess I'm glad you were honest.
- 23:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 23:20SPEAKER_03: But I definitely didn't think that he would have meant to be a good thing.
- 23:22SPEAKER_06: Well, there's nothing you really could have spent, like you know he made out of that.
- 23:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:26SPEAKER_03: So anyway, oh, and then I'm not I didn't make this like a thing or whatever, but like Tyler Cameron announced that they were pregnant during their dance.
- 23:32SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 23:32SPEAKER_03: Which I love.
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: I love Tyler Cameron.
- 23:34SPEAKER_06: Well, I was just really sad because I got to see him through um his season of the bachelorette with Hannah and then see his mom.
- 23:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that was back in the day.
- 23:44SPEAKER_06: I was for I was a social, I didn't even I didn't care about it, but I loved it.
- 23:48SPEAKER_03: Shows you loved that you'd never seen.
- 23:50SPEAKER_06: No, back in the day in 2016 through 2019, 2020, the watch parties, the same.
- 23:56SPEAKER_06: Yes, it was a it was an event.
- 23:58SPEAKER_06: I will say now it's just it's not an event anymore.
- 24:00SPEAKER_03: No, if you were there, you were there.
- 24:02SPEAKER_03: Like I remember like Ben Higgins, Jojo, yeah, like all like um Ashley Eye and Jared, like it was just and then Bachelor in Paradise.
- 24:11SPEAKER_03: It was just Colin Underwood at the time.
- 24:14SPEAKER_03: Like it was such a thing.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: It was, it was so fun.
- 24:17SPEAKER_06: I know it's over with.
- 24:19SPEAKER_03: Anyway, okay.
- 24:21unknown: Yeah.
- 24:22SPEAKER_03: I'm assuming Val will be back this week.
- 24:25SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 24:25SPEAKER_03: They didn't really address it.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they just moved the episode.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: They were just like, since Val's not here, okay, go ahead.
- 24:30SPEAKER_06: Just quickly moved on.
- 24:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:32SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 24:33SPEAKER_06: But oh, also they did a gender reveal for Tyler's baby.
- 24:36SPEAKER_06: Did you see that?
- 24:37SPEAKER_03: In their dance?
- 24:38SPEAKER_06: No, at the end they shot out like Pink Confetti.
- 24:41SPEAKER_03: Oh, I did not see that.
- 24:42SPEAKER_06: Did a little gender reveal.
- 24:44SPEAKER_03: I was watching the intern with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 24:47SPEAKER_03: So I didn't see it.
- 24:47SPEAKER_03: So you're like, I'm this.
- 24:48SPEAKER_03: I didn't get to see the episode.
- 24:50SPEAKER_06: I love that.
- 24:51SPEAKER_06: I didn't see it either.
- 24:51SPEAKER_06: It was a clip.
- 24:52SPEAKER_03: Love that.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: Congrats.
- 24:54SPEAKER_06: Congrats.
- 24:55SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 24:56SPEAKER_06: Mariah Carey wins legal battle against her brother.
- 25:01SPEAKER_03: I have no clue what the story is.
- 25:02SPEAKER_03: So explain it to me.
- 25:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:04SPEAKER_06: So her brother Morgan Carey Morgan Carey sued her for$20 million in a defamation suit because she had a memoir that came out, I think in 2020, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.
- 25:19SPEAKER_06: And um she falsely like she, in his opinion, like she painted him in a bad light.
- 25:25SPEAKER_06: I didn't know that.
- 25:26SPEAKER_06: And we're just saying his um it painted him as a violent person with a drug history and criminal behavior, all of that.
- 25:34SPEAKER_06: And then so he sued her.
- 25:36SPEAKER_06: And then it just like settled to where it was um she won the case against her.
- 25:40SPEAKER_03: So he didn't she didn't have to pay him anything.
- 25:42SPEAKER_03: No.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: I did not know that was happening.
- 25:46SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 25:47SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, but I feel like my family's gonna sue me.
- 25:49SPEAKER_06: No, that's what I'm saying.
- 25:50SPEAKER_06: When I was reading through this whole case, I was just like, hopefully this hasn't happened to Dom.
- 25:54SPEAKER_06: And knock on what it won't.
- 25:56SPEAKER_03: But um I don't think they would.
- 25:58SPEAKER_06: Um, but yeah, he just dis uh disputed everything, um, including the claims that he sold cocaine, and she said that he said that the book damaged his reputation and ability to find work.
- 26:09SPEAKER_06: Which is so so that is probably true.
- 26:12SPEAKER_06: That that is what's hard about it is like when you But you also can monetize in other ways.
- 26:16SPEAKER_03: You're Mariah Carey's brother, become an influencer.
- 26:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 26:20SPEAKER_06: But I mean, there's two sides of the coin.
- 26:21SPEAKER_06: Like I do understand all of those things could be true, but the you know, the impact and the effect of it of him saying that he can't find work, which I don't know if that was like verified, but that could be very much the case of being like, oh, I read I read about you in that book.
- 26:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: Which imposes a question that I ask you.
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: If you had a bad relationship with your parents and your brother, would you and you were a celebrity as big as Mariah Carey, and you were told we need you to write a memoir, would you talk bad about them in it?
- 26:53SPEAKER_06: I would do it if it was relevant to the story and my growth.
- 26:58SPEAKER_06: Let's just say, like, I if my brother like sold cocaine.
- 27:02SPEAKER_03: I don't say because your brother's literally an angel.
- 27:04SPEAKER_03: A literally personal.
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: Your whole family is actually your parents and your brother are all amazing.
- 27:08SPEAKER_06: I love them so much.
- 27:09SPEAKER_06: Um, I would do it if it per like it like let's just say a quick scenario.
- 27:13SPEAKER_06: If my brother um was the biggest drug dealer in our school and it got me into situations where I was put and I would have to be in adult situations, and this is this, and things happen, blah blah, then I would put him in it.
- 27:27SPEAKER_06: If he was just overselling his little thing, whatever did not impact my life, I would not bring him into that.
- 27:33SPEAKER_07: Got it.
- 27:33SPEAKER_06: Because I feel like some people, I don't know about this specifically, but there's people that bring other people in for a sake of a story when it's not actually impacting like their life at all.
- 27:44SPEAKER_06: Does that make sense?
- 27:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so if it affected you, you would talk about it.
- 27:47SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 27:48SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 27:49SPEAKER_06: In any tangible way.
- 27:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 27:50SPEAKER_06: Oh, a tangible.
- 27:51SPEAKER_03: Come on, tangible.
- 27:52SPEAKER_06: I had a I had a makeup for our Mars comment earlier.
- 27:55SPEAKER_03: Guys, I can help I thumb.
- 27:56SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 27:57SPEAKER_03: I didn't even know what came after F earlier.
- 27:58SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 27:59SPEAKER_03: Mars is not a country, I just is what came out.
- 28:01SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 28:02SPEAKER_03: Um, also, I'm gonna give you an opportunity to look it for the thumbnail.
- 28:06SPEAKER_03: Three, two, one.
- 28:08SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: Next story.
- 28:10SPEAKER_03: Miley Cyrus.
- 28:11SPEAKER_03: Is that yours?
- 28:12SPEAKER_03: No.
- 28:12SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 28:13SPEAKER_03: See?
- 28:13SPEAKER_03: We haven't been bringing the same ones.
- 28:14SPEAKER_03: Actually, that last week we did.
- 28:16SPEAKER_03: I don't know what I'm saying.
- 28:17SPEAKER_03: Um, Miley Cyrus faces backlash after Hollywood Bowl comeback.
- 28:21SPEAKER_03: Have you heard about this?
- 28:22SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 28:22SPEAKER_03: Okay, the pop star's highly anticipated return to the iconic Los Angeles venue has sparked online debate and fans questioning their performance.
- 28:30SPEAKER_03: So basically, if you don't know, Miley Cyrus is doing two nights at the Hollywood Bowl, which I love that the Hollywood Bowl is like such a thing right now.
- 28:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:37SPEAKER_03: Uh again.
- 28:38SPEAKER_03: Um so she did two nights.
- 28:40SPEAKER_03: Miley Cyrus um sold out both, huge deal.
- 28:44SPEAKER_03: People are who are Miley Cyrus fans afterwards were saying like that she only sung allegedly 30 minutes of the two-hour show, and it was a lot of like sing it out, or like let's sing it together, or whatever.
- 28:56SPEAKER_03: 30 minutes of two hours is what they is what they had said.
- 28:58SPEAKER_03: Oh, allegedly.
- 29:00SPEAKER_03: Um, that she just seemed very lackluster.
- 29:03SPEAKER_03: What does lackluster mean?
- 29:05SPEAKER_06: Lacking luster.
- 29:06SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
- 29:07SPEAKER_03: That makes sense.
- 29:08SPEAKER_03: Uh, very lackluster, very um the set they they were questioning the set list, um, just things like that.
- 29:18SPEAKER_06: They thought did they think she was there just to collect a check?
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: And then the second as I mean maybe, then the second night, she like addressed it.
- 29:25SPEAKER_03: She like she'd be singing a song, she'd be like, Oh, I forgot I have to sing every effing word, like blah blah blah.
- 29:30SPEAKER_03: So I will say this Miley Cyrus is not one to just like not give her all into something.
- 29:35SPEAKER_03: So it's like this is not her character, so it's like calm down.
- 29:38SPEAKER_06: Also, too, Dolly Parton like saying in that that was like her only live show she ever saw with Dolly.
- 29:46SPEAKER_06: I think in the show, yeah.
- 29:48SPEAKER_03: That was the other thing people were saying is that she was grieving.
- 29:50SPEAKER_03: Yes, and she has a lot of family stuff going on, like you know, whatever.
- 29:54SPEAKER_03: And I agree, you should still put on a face.
- 29:56SPEAKER_03: It's Katy Perry reading the text from Russell Brand, rising up with the cupcakes on her just like it's that like my dream is to have that moment.
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: My dream is to look at my phone, get bad news, and then have to put it down, look up, and then rise up on a rising platform to perform.
- 30:12SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: Like that is literally my dream.
- 30:13SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 30:14SPEAKER_03: Um, but and it'd be filmed for a documentary.
- 30:18SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 30:18SPEAKER_03: Um, but uh so either way, with all those things, you still need to perform.
- 30:22SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 30:22SPEAKER_03: And I'm totally with you on that.
- 30:24SPEAKER_03: What I'm saying is if you are a Miley Cyrus fan and you pay tickets to go to this, and you go, and she's marching around that stage, whatever, you're hearing songs you want, you're with your friends, grow up and have a good time.
- 30:35SPEAKER_03: I agree, but I'm not singing it out.
- 30:40SPEAKER_06: The thing is, is that what I don't understand is like the Justin Bieber of it all, of him doing a whole Coachella set with him set sitting down and like people singing out and like I hated, but people liked.
- 30:49SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 30:50SPEAKER_06: And so she went into this and she's like, okay, well, the fans are having fun, they want to sing and they want to engage.
- 30:54SPEAKER_06: What I didn't like is when she addressed it in night two, she called out a specific creator in that, and she was like, because this guy made a video and been like was like And she called it like clickbait or whatever, or something, but it's she was like, I never once like not given my all on a performance.
- 31:08SPEAKER_06: She really liked she didn't handle it well when she brought it up.
- 31:10SPEAKER_06: She was kind of snarky.
- 31:12SPEAKER_03: I see her.
- 31:14SPEAKER_06: I don't see her.
- 31:15SPEAKER_06: That way I know you would have probably addressed it like that.
- 31:17SPEAKER_06: I would have just been like, hey.
- 31:19SPEAKER_03: And I would have gotten crap for it.
- 31:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 31:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 31:21SPEAKER_03: So also say, I'm okay with a little sing it out church.
- 31:25SPEAKER_03: Like, I'm like, that's fine.
- 31:27SPEAKER_03: I used to do that.
- 31:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 31:29SPEAKER_06: But I don't know what it is.
- 31:30SPEAKER_06: Not for not for an hour and a half when you want to hear her live.
- 31:32SPEAKER_06: Because the thing is, is like people go to concerts these days for content.
- 31:37SPEAKER_06: They go, I know that's crazy, but they go to have a video that like that they're gonna have like two hours of footage on their phone, they're never gonna rewatch.
- 31:44SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 31:44SPEAKER_06: But they want to hear the vocals and they want to post it to their friends.
- 31:47SPEAKER_06: They didn't have the opportunity because they didn't want to do the sound.
- 31:50SPEAKER_03: Here's the thing, they did have the opportunity because there are.
- 31:52SPEAKER_06: Oh, 30 30 minutes.
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: But there's a lot that she's saying.
- 31:55SPEAKER_03: Here's the thing 30 minutes or two hours.
- 31:56SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry, I don't believe that.
- 31:57SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry, I don't.
- 31:58SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry, I don't believe that.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: Also, she did sing a lot.
- 32:01SPEAKER_03: Like, I've seen the clips.
- 32:02SPEAKER_03: There are clips you can post.
- 32:03SPEAKER_03: Um also, I think Aerostour really changed people's expectations for concerts.
- 32:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:10SPEAKER_03: Because Aristor, like we have to remember it is the first major tour that highlighted also past.
- 32:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:16SPEAKER_03: It is normal, because people were saying she didn't do enough old songs, even though she did the climb, she did Miley and Her Dead Pets.
- 32:21SPEAKER_06: She did Week Miley and Her Dead Pet.
- 32:23SPEAKER_03: That is an album that she realized.
- 32:25SPEAKER_03: Are you serious?
- 32:25SPEAKER_03: Miley and Her Dead Pets.
- 32:26SPEAKER_03: Um she did um, you know the what does it mind?
- 32:31SPEAKER_03: What does it mind?
- 32:32SPEAKER_03: No.
- 32:32SPEAKER_03: You know how it's like?
- 32:33SPEAKER_03: I think I was checked out.
- 32:36SPEAKER_03: She did We Can't Stop, she did all those.
- 32:38SPEAKER_03: Um Aerist, it is normal for artists to go on tour and only tour their new stuff.
- 32:43SPEAKER_03: Like that's normal.
- 32:44SPEAKER_03: When I went to Bad Bunny, he didn't even do Title Me Pergunto.
- 32:47SPEAKER_03: Like, because he wasn't touring that album.
- 32:49SPEAKER_03: Anyway, okay, your next story.
- 32:51SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 32:52SPEAKER_06: The Tesla Roadster was debuted.
- 32:55SPEAKER_03: I'm so glad you said this.
- 32:57SPEAKER_03: I was I wanted to talk about this.
- 32:58SPEAKER_03: I forgot.
- 32:59SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 32:59SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 33:00SPEAKER_06: Perfect.
- 33:00SPEAKER_06: Um, it was unveiled um October 15th with a dramatic SpaceX thruster demonstration.
- 33:10SPEAKER_03: And dramatic is dramatic is correct.
- 33:12SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 33:13SPEAKER_06: The thing about this is like I saw it first through David Dobrik posted something, and he's like, I invested in this like$250,000.
- 33:21SPEAKER_06: Like 10 years, eight years ago.
- 33:22SPEAKER_06: And like there's a so people they were going and meeting with other founders and going, um, and they put this whole thing on, in my opinion, just to be like, here guys, here's a little something.
- 33:34SPEAKER_06: I don't think this is what they originally envisioned for what they had.
- 33:38SPEAKER_06: I think they just piece something together and put it together.
- 33:41SPEAKER_03: And let me go on record.
- 33:44SPEAKER_03: In what world, in what dynamic, and in what context do I need that roadstore, roadster?
- 33:50SPEAKER_06: Road store.
- 33:50SPEAKER_03: Road store.
- 33:51SPEAKER_03: Do I need that roadster?
- 33:53SPEAKER_06: And what in what context do I need to have my car shoot pressurized air and do a backflip in the street?
- 34:00SPEAKER_03: Literally, literally do a flip.
- 34:02SPEAKER_06: No, literally, do a flip.
- 34:03SPEAKER_06: Do it.
- 34:03SPEAKER_06: Yeah, do it.
- 34:04SPEAKER_03: In what world do I need to drive a car up a ramp?
- 34:09SPEAKER_03: Upside down.
- 34:11SPEAKER_03: Am I a ride at the fair?
- 34:14SPEAKER_06: No, I was just like, yeah, are you on?
- 34:16SPEAKER_03: What roads do we have?
- 34:17SPEAKER_03: Cartoon do we have?
- 34:18SPEAKER_06: With a TNT?
- 34:19SPEAKER_06: Like it is just it's so frustrating.
- 34:22SPEAKER_06: So when I saw that, I was like so frustrated.
- 34:24SPEAKER_06: And then the interesting part about that is Ashley St.
- 34:28SPEAKER_06: Clair, which is Elon Musk's like baby mom.
- 34:32SPEAKER_06: Does he have like a million?
- 34:32SPEAKER_04: How many people have a hundred?
- 34:34SPEAKER_06: Um, one of his most recent, she used to be like a really like MAGA influencer, whatever.
- 34:40SPEAKER_06: Have you heard anything about her?
- 34:42SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 34:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 34:42SPEAKER_06: And so she was in the new Musk documentary, which she took to TikTok the other day, and she was like, guys, um, Elon Musk's friend um like runs TikTok, whatever, and has banned all the ads for the new movie Musk.
- 34:58SPEAKER_06: That's like a documentary.
- 35:00SPEAKER_06: And she's in that documentary that came out this past weekend, I believe.
- 35:04SPEAKER_06: And she was pretty much just saying that um everything's a scam and like everything, like even with this unveiling, she like made fun of it.
- 35:12SPEAKER_06: Like yeah, pretty much just saying that this anyway, she's just saying it's all a facade and that he doesn't have the means to actually produce in like 2028, that he's just like buying more time.
- 35:22SPEAKER_06: She's like, notice how everything's coming out next year, everything's more information next year.
- 35:27SPEAKER_06: She's just saying that he's wasting people's time, doesn't have any, you know, which all allegedly.
- 35:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, which that I'll wait to see it until I see it.
- 35:34SPEAKER_03: Because that man does have money and he should have memo me.
- 35:36unknown: Yeah.
- 35:36SPEAKER_04: But I would not accept mine from that phrasing.
- 35:39SPEAKER_03: I'm just like, you want to talk about an ick?
- 35:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:41SPEAKER_03: Imagine somebody getting in their roadster and saying, watch this and ride driving upside down insane and looking at you.
- 35:47SPEAKER_03: Like I'm already imagine somebody saying, Watch this.
- 35:51SPEAKER_03: I'm already tired of people speeding by me in their car.
- 35:54SPEAKER_03: And then they land and then they go, wasn't that cool?
- 35:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:59SPEAKER_03: I would have to never if somebody does a roadster flip for me, I would have to never speak to them again.
- 36:04SPEAKER_06: In my lifetime.
- 36:05SPEAKER_03: There's a few people that I need to get an ick with that I've been really trying for a few years.
- 36:08SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna throw them in a roadster and say do a flip.
- 36:10SPEAKER_06: No, absolutely.
- 36:11SPEAKER_03: Like it's raps.
- 36:14SPEAKER_03: This is a windy drive-thru.
- 36:15SPEAKER_06: No, yeah.
- 36:16SPEAKER_03: You need to leave in four minutes.
- 36:18SPEAKER_06: No, I need to leave in 10.
- 36:20SPEAKER_03: Perfect.
- 36:20SPEAKER_06: We're good.
- 36:21SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 36:21SPEAKER_03: Um, let's get into our ICUs.
- 36:24SPEAKER_03: Oh, also let me say this.
- 36:26SPEAKER_03: Like, yeah, we're hating on it, but like, give me one.
- 36:29SPEAKER_06: No.
- 36:30SPEAKER_03: I want to just give me one.
- 36:31SPEAKER_06: Give me one?
- 36:32SPEAKER_06: Yes, I can sell it.
- 36:32SPEAKER_06: No, absolutely.
- 36:33SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 36:34SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna get into our ICU, which our ICU is just something that we love that we've just like beat to death.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: Like it's in the ICU.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: It's on life support.
- 36:40SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 36:41SPEAKER_03: I'll go first.
- 36:42SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 36:43SPEAKER_03: I've been loving that capital B block button.
- 36:47SPEAKER_03: Uh can I say something?
- 36:49SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 36:50SPEAKER_06: You've been loving a block.
- 36:52SPEAKER_03: I'm in this era right now where you are gonna get what you have always deserved from me.
- 36:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 36:57SPEAKER_06: I have I have you are so lenient and you're so sweet to people.
- 37:02SPEAKER_03: I have turned the other cheek so many times.
- 37:05SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm your boots are not.
- 37:07SPEAKER_03: I'm doing 360s.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: I'm cross-eyed.
- 37:09SPEAKER_06: Yes, out of breath.
- 37:11SPEAKER_03: I I I turn all four cheeks.
- 37:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like I I I turn every single one multiple times, okay?
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: And also, if we have an issue, I'm blocking you on everything.
- 37:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 37:21SPEAKER_03: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Man, Discord, Slack, Pinterest, everything, Twitch, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, Hotmail, Hotmail, love.
- 37:37SPEAKER_03: Hotmail.
- 37:37SPEAKER_03: I'm logging into the MySpace from middle school and blocking you.
- 37:41SPEAKER_03: I'm making a truth social account so I can block you.
- 37:45SPEAKER_03: The photo booths at a at a wedding where you can type in the phone number and send the photo.
- 37:52SPEAKER_03: I'm making sure that they all block you too.
- 37:55SPEAKER_06: Like they're never receiving another photo.
- 37:58SPEAKER_03: There, you will never find a dove to attach the note on its tail to send to my window.
- 38:03SPEAKER_06: No.
- 38:03SPEAKER_06: Dove's extinct.
- 38:04SPEAKER_03: You're done hearing.
- 38:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 38:06SPEAKER_06: No, yeah.
- 38:07SPEAKER_03: I love a buck.
- 38:08SPEAKER_06: Someone got that recently from you.
- 38:10SPEAKER_03: Someone got the blo block.
- 38:12SPEAKER_03: Someone got the block.
- 38:13SPEAKER_06: They deleted it.
- 38:14SPEAKER_06: Or not delete it.
- 38:15SPEAKER_06: They deserved it.
- 38:16SPEAKER_03: Truly.
- 38:17SPEAKER_03: Block.
- 38:18SPEAKER_06: I love that.
- 38:19SPEAKER_06: As as you need to.
- 38:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm just like, sorry, you're done.
- 38:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 38:22SPEAKER_06: There's too much access.
- 38:23SPEAKER_06: That's the thing is like, I understand I'm still gonna be turning the other cheek as I'm called.
- 38:27SPEAKER_03: No, and guys, I also would like to say this.
- 38:29SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 38:30SPEAKER_03: Same.
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: That's why we're I'm just gonna block.
- 38:33SPEAKER_06: But you can block theirs.
- 38:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 38:34SPEAKER_06: Anyway.
- 38:35SPEAKER_03: Block your cheek.
- 38:36SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 38:37SPEAKER_06: So here is mine.
- 38:38SPEAKER_06: My truth serum today.
- 38:40SPEAKER_06: It's a black walnut shake.
- 38:42SPEAKER_03: Okay, which I've never had.
- 38:43SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 38:44SPEAKER_03: I've never had one.
- 38:44SPEAKER_06: This is so random.
- 38:45SPEAKER_06: Christoph said last night he's just like, you're turning into an auntie.
- 38:48SPEAKER_06: Because like I literally pulled out this tub of black walnut like ice cream.
- 38:54SPEAKER_06: It was on sale at um Reese's.
- 38:56SPEAKER_06: I was like, oh, let me try this.
- 38:57SPEAKER_06: Like, that's disgusting.
- 38:58SPEAKER_06: My mom likes that.
- 38:59SPEAKER_06: Like, literally, like all grandmas and aunties like this.
- 39:01SPEAKER_06: And I pulled it out and I put a dash of like heavy whipping cream in there.
- 39:06SPEAKER_06: Anyway, listen.
- 39:06SPEAKER_06: Oh my god.
- 39:07SPEAKER_06: I put it in my magic bullet.
- 39:09SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah.
- 39:10SPEAKER_06: It didn't really spin.
- 39:11SPEAKER_06: Like it, like the gears burnt out on my magic bullet.
- 39:14SPEAKER_06: Um, but anyway.
- 39:15SPEAKER_03: Was it a real one or from five below?
- 39:17SPEAKER_06: It was a real one, surprisingly.
- 39:18SPEAKER_06: I was gifted.
- 39:20SPEAKER_06: So turned it, turned it, turned it.
- 39:22SPEAKER_06: I have been eating that every single night.
- 39:23SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah.
- 39:24SPEAKER_06: Also, I didn't realize how just how many scoops of ice cream you're gonna need for even one little half cup of a shake.
- 39:32SPEAKER_06: Like I've been eating like 10 scoops of ice cream a day.
- 39:34SPEAKER_06: Girl, be careful.
- 39:35SPEAKER_06: I need to stop.
- 39:35SPEAKER_06: I yeah.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: Be careful.
- 39:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah, the pounds be clinging it.
- 39:39SPEAKER_06: They'd be clinging it.
- 39:40SPEAKER_06: Anyway, but I want everyone to try um a black walnut shake.
- 39:44SPEAKER_06: They have some at ROMs.
- 39:45SPEAKER_06: I'm not a big fan.
- 39:45SPEAKER_06: Actually, I never had that there.
- 39:47SPEAKER_06: So you need to try that.
- 39:48SPEAKER_06: That's what I've been beating to death recently.
- 39:50SPEAKER_06: Is that black one?
- 39:51SPEAKER_03: Or Etsy, you better watch out.
- 39:52SPEAKER_06: No, with my big purrs.
- 39:53SPEAKER_03: No.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 39:55SPEAKER_03: Big purr is don't get a big bag.
- 39:57SPEAKER_06: Mm-hmm.
- 39:58SPEAKER_03: Okay, we're gonna get into our We Need to Talk, so it is our advice segment.
- 40:01SPEAKER_03: We're gonna start.
- 40:01SPEAKER_03: Here we go.
- 40:03SPEAKER_03: You can submit.
- 40:04SPEAKER_03: We always post about it, like you know where to go.
- 40:06SPEAKER_03: Um, okay, here we go.
- 40:09SPEAKER_03: How do you handle friends who don't show up for you the same way that you show up for them?
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: Like, say you got married, asked your childhood best friend to be in your wedding, and she didn't show up because she said she couldn't afford to travel, but then post how she's on back-to-back luxurious vacations at the same time as your wedding goes going on.
- 40:26SPEAKER_03: Do you ignore it for the sake of history?
- 40:28SPEAKER_03: 15 years as friends for context, or leave the friendship.
- 40:32SPEAKER_03: I have some expertise on this to be as the friend who went on the who didn't go.
- 40:41SPEAKER_03: Sometimes you don't know the context.
- 40:45SPEAKER_05: I agree.
- 40:45SPEAKER_03: I had a year of my life where I was invited to or asked to be in four destination weddings.
- 40:55SPEAKER_06: Insane.
- 40:56SPEAKER_03: I had no money, I had literally no money for anything.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 41:01SPEAKER_03: I chose to go to one because the person whose wedding I was going to offered to pay for the return flight.
- 41:08SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 41:08SPEAKER_03: So I went to that one.
- 41:09SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 41:10SPEAKER_03: I had free stay, free rental car, everything.
- 41:12SPEAKER_03: So I was like, that is the one I would go to.
- 41:14SPEAKER_03: There is a wedding that I didn't go to that I was asked to sing in and be a groomsman in, and another wedding that I was asked to be a groomsman in, and then a wedding that I wasn't gonna be in at all but just attend.
- 41:26SPEAKER_03: I wanted to go to all of them very, very badly.
- 41:29SPEAKER_06: Also, if you're planning a wedding, if you get engaged to plan a wedding and it's in six months and you're expecting everyone to afford it, like you need at least a year's notice for people to afford these things or to save up.
- 41:39SPEAKER_06: They can't just go in debt over every single thing.
- 41:41SPEAKER_03: And I will say, and I will say this, and I'll go on record because these people listen to this podcast.
- 41:45SPEAKER_03: There are some that they they literally like went above and beyond.
- 41:48SPEAKER_03: They were like, we're telling you in advance there are tickets for$300.
- 41:51SPEAKER_03: Like they made it, you know, whatever.
- 41:53SPEAKER_03: I still couldn't have even afforded$300.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: Like, I just couldn't.
- 41:57SPEAKER_03: I was literally like 20-something.
- 41:58SPEAKER_03: I was very young.
- 41:59SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 41:59SPEAKER_03: I was 20-something.
- 42:00SPEAKER_03: I'm still 20-something.
- 42:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 42:01SPEAKER_06: Um, but you're almost 30-something.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: And there are people who genuinely, I think, to this day are still upset about it.
- 42:07SPEAKER_03: I will say this.
- 42:08SPEAKER_03: I, of course, were I hate that I I couldn't go to Phil even Philip and like I couldn't, there are people's weddings that I couldn't go to that I literally am best friends with.
- 42:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: Best friends with.
- 42:18SPEAKER_03: And and I will say this, I actually I don't regret going to the wedding that I chose to go to because it financially made sense.
- 42:23SPEAKER_03: I'm not even friends with the person that I went to their wedding.
- 42:25SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 42:26SPEAKER_03: And then a year later, I went to Mexico for a wedding.
- 42:28SPEAKER_03: And then here's the here's the issue.
- 42:30SPEAKER_03: During one of the weddings, I ended up going to Vegas during this person's wedding.
- 42:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:34SPEAKER_03: That trip was paid for by somebody else.
- 42:37SPEAKER_03: So sometimes there is context, I will say.
- 42:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 42:40SPEAKER_03: It like find out everything.
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: Like how much money did they actually have to spend on this trip?
- 42:44SPEAKER_03: Like, you know, like all of this stuff.
- 42:45SPEAKER_03: Because maybe there's a world where it actually made more sense.
- 42:48SPEAKER_03: It was cheaper for them to go on these other trips.
- 42:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:51SPEAKER_03: Now, if they're purposely not going, just like don't be their friend anymore.
- 42:54SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I was just saying there context is important because they could have had these trips funded and you know, this, that, and the third.
- 43:00SPEAKER_06: I understand.
- 43:01SPEAKER_06: I don't want to invalidate your feelings.
- 43:02SPEAKER_06: I understand how frustrating it is, but this is a conversation that needs to be had.
- 43:07SPEAKER_06: Um, and also too, there needs to be enough lead time.
- 43:10SPEAKER_06: You need to communicate with them.
- 43:12SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 43:12SPEAKER_06: Um, there's just a there's some steps you have to take and be like, hey, it would mean a lot if you could go to this wedding.
- 43:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 43:18SPEAKER_06: You know.
- 43:18SPEAKER_03: So sorry.
- 43:21SPEAKER_03: Um, another one.
- 43:22SPEAKER_03: Oh, quick.
- 43:23SPEAKER_03: Hola again.
- 43:24SPEAKER_03: Oh god.
- 43:25SPEAKER_03: I know who this is.
- 43:26SPEAKER_03: Lauren was my manager at Gathering Place, and I'm currently living La Vida Loca in Mexico.
- 43:31SPEAKER_03: I submitted last week, not anonymously.
- 43:34SPEAKER_03: Let's get into it.
- 43:35SPEAKER_03: I have an update.
- 43:36SPEAKER_03: I listened carefully to the excellent advice that was given on your lovely podcast, and I have decided to officially stay longer in Mexico.
- 43:44SPEAKER_06: Hold on.
- 43:45SPEAKER_06: That was not the advice you gave.
- 43:47SPEAKER_03: I don't know what you heard.
- 43:49SPEAKER_06: I have officially what they took out of this whole thing was stay longer in Mexico.
- 43:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's exactly what you heard.
- 43:55SPEAKER_03: And then in your mountainous view, um, officially longer in Mexico to see where the This romance era takes me to now.
- 44:01SPEAKER_03: I need more advice now.
- 44:03SPEAKER_03: What's something else?
- 44:04SPEAKER_03: M-dash.
- 44:04SPEAKER_03: I also have met another guy.
- 44:06SPEAKER_03: We are also seeing where it goes.
- 44:07SPEAKER_03: I do not know what to do, Lauren and Dom.
- 44:09SPEAKER_03: One is older than I am.
- 44:10SPEAKER_03: I'm 34.
- 44:11SPEAKER_03: He's a successful celebrated choreographer, works for the Cultural Center in his town.
- 44:16SPEAKER_03: We also have great chemistry.
- 44:18SPEAKER_06: Don't read that part.
- 44:22SPEAKER_03: In several places.
- 44:24SPEAKER_03: The other is younger, a physiotherapist, and I have so much fun with him.
- 44:27SPEAKER_03: Literally laugh nonstop.
- 44:29SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 44:29SPEAKER_03: We also have amazing chemistry in those same places.
- 44:33SPEAKER_03: What does a recovering heartbreaker do in this scenario?
- 44:36SPEAKER_03: I hold that.
- 44:37SPEAKER_03: Side note, do y'all deliver merch to Mexico?
- 44:44SPEAKER_03: You're not in any commitments.
- 44:45SPEAKER_03: Do we do have fun with both of them?
- 44:47SPEAKER_03: Like you're not in a relationship.
- 44:49SPEAKER_06: No, I I would say at this point, in a comment.
- 44:51SPEAKER_03: You're not in a relationship.
- 44:53SPEAKER_06: I know.
- 44:54SPEAKER_06: At this point, I would say continue to focus on your work and don't get into too many entanglements because I know this person who submitted, and you're gonna make both of these people fall in love with you.
- 45:04SPEAKER_06: And please just be careful.
- 45:06SPEAKER_06: Like don't don't put too much what dip on your chip, something.
- 45:10SPEAKER_03: Oh, in my mind, I'm just like, if you want to have fun, go on dates, like whatever, like you're not in a committed relationship.
- 45:17SPEAKER_06: No, I agree.
- 45:18SPEAKER_03: Do it until you feel stronger about one.
- 45:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and then and knowing this person, they're gonna he's gonna hate both of them at the same time eventually.
- 45:25SPEAKER_03: So just enjoy while you have it because you're you're gonna you're gonna get over it.
- 45:28SPEAKER_03: Okay, last quick one.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: My boyfriend and I have been together almost four years.
- 45:32SPEAKER_03: He moved to Tulsa to live with me about three years ago, but now he has an opportunity to transfer back to OKC, where he's from for his job.
- 45:38SPEAKER_03: He obviously wants me to make the move with him, and I don't want to do long distance, but I love being in Tulsa so much and don't want to and don't want to leave.
- 45:45SPEAKER_03: My family is here and his family is there, but my father is disabled, so I help take care of him.
- 45:50SPEAKER_03: And I keep using this as an excuse for us to stay.
- 45:53SPEAKER_03: Is it unfair for me to not be willing to move cities for him when he did the same for me?
- 45:56SPEAKER_03: Am I being selfish and should and should just swallow my pride and give OKC a chance?
- 46:01SPEAKER_03: I was born and raised in Tulsa and I've done the whole venturing out to a different city and even a different state at one point and chose to come back to Tulsa.
- 46:10SPEAKER_03: You should you should not move from Tulsa.
- 46:12SPEAKER_03: And I will say my main reasoning is because of your dad.
- 46:15SPEAKER_06: I agree.
- 46:15SPEAKER_03: Like you have, I will say this this is a relationship, you are not married.
- 46:19SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 46:20SPEAKER_03: And if there's I rebuke this, let's say you moved to OKC with him, and then your dad happened to eventually pass, and let's say that you and this boyfriend end up breaking up, you are going to hold that forever, forever.
- 46:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 46:38SPEAKER_03: I think even if you and your boyfriend stayed together, you would still hold it forever.
- 46:41SPEAKER_03: So you need to not.
- 46:42SPEAKER_03: And your boyfriend needs to understand that.
- 46:43SPEAKER_06: Yes, I agree.
- 46:44SPEAKER_06: And I said, um, because I think the same thing too with a dad in that situation of like you're in a mind state of you're like, I cannot leave him.
- 46:52SPEAKER_06: If I was asked to move anywhere, I wouldn't have moved anywhere.
- 46:55SPEAKER_06: And also, too, if your dad, God forbid, passes, um, and you do like not even that you move you move to Oklahoma City, you're going to have this resentment potentially with your boyfriend, even though he didn't like force you to move.
- 47:10SPEAKER_06: You're going to be like, wow, like I was here.
- 47:12SPEAKER_06: Like it just starts your potential.
- 47:16SPEAKER_03: Just because he did it for you.
- 47:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:17SPEAKER_03: Like, just because he did it for you, that was his choice.
- 47:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 47:20SPEAKER_03: You do not have to even the playing field.
- 47:21SPEAKER_06: I would say, um, I would I would stay in Tulsa.
- 47:24SPEAKER_06: I agree and I would commute and like go back and forth.
- 47:27SPEAKER_06: It's an easy commute.
- 47:28SPEAKER_06: It's an easy drive.
- 47:29SPEAKER_03: And if you're gonna, if you're meant to be together, it will work.
- 47:31SPEAKER_06: It will.
- 47:31SPEAKER_06: So absolutely.
- 47:33SPEAKER_06: However, it will go.
- 47:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 47:34SPEAKER_06: So do what you know is best and for you, and I feel like that is leaning towards staying in Tulsa and taking care of your and your boyfriend should understand.
- 47:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I think he would.
- 47:43SPEAKER_03: That's our episode today.
- 47:44SPEAKER_03: Thank you for listening.
- 47:45SPEAKER_03: Stay tuned though, because we are going to go into Laura talking with Steph Simon about the Dreamland Festival.
- 47:52SPEAKER_03: Awesome.
- 47:52SPEAKER_03: Thank you guys.
- 47:53SPEAKER_06: See you next week.
- 47:54SPEAKER_06: Bye.
- 47:55SPEAKER_06: Steph Simon is a Tulsa-based hip-hop artist, entrepreneur, and community leader, known for using music to celebrate black history and create opportunities for local artists.
- 48:06SPEAKER_06: He's the founder of Dreamland Festival, a celebration of hip-hop and culture and a key figure behind Fire in Little Africa, a collaborative music project commemorating the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
- 48:21SPEAKER_06: He also helps develop young talent through music education at McLean and Webster High School and was named Tulsa World's 2024 Tolson of the Year.
- 48:30SPEAKER_06: It's a Steph Simon.
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: Hey, Diamond.
- 48:33SPEAKER_06: And I'm so happy to have you on the podcast.
- 48:36SPEAKER_06: You are awesome.
- 48:37SPEAKER_06: I've been following you for years.
- 48:39SPEAKER_00: I appreciate that.
- 48:40SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 48:40SPEAKER_00: I like this hoodie on you.
- 48:42SPEAKER_00: You can you can hold on.
- 48:44SPEAKER_00: For real?
- 48:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's a good thing.
- 48:45SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna keep this hoodie.
- 48:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's 2023.
- 48:48SPEAKER_00: That's 23.
- 48:49SPEAKER_00: That's a sleeper.
- 48:50SPEAKER_00: That's everybody's favorite.
- 48:51SPEAKER_06: Oh my gosh.
- 48:52SPEAKER_06: I'm blessed.
- 48:52SPEAKER_06: I feel blessed with this.
- 48:54SPEAKER_06: Yeah, hold on to that.
- 48:55SPEAKER_00: That's that's fly.
- 48:56SPEAKER_00: For sure.
- 48:56SPEAKER_00: But good to see you.
- 48:57SPEAKER_06: It's so good to see you.
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: Nice to meet you in person.
- 49:00SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 49:01SPEAKER_06: I'm a fan of yours too, of course.
- 49:04SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 49:04SPEAKER_06: And today, um, we have something really special to announce, something coming next month.
- 49:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:09SPEAKER_06: Um, speaking of what I just talked about, I would like to give the floor to you.
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're here.
- 49:15SPEAKER_00: Uh Dreamland Festival is about 38 days away.
- 49:19SPEAKER_00: Um Tulsa Theater is two experiences, one festival.
- 49:26SPEAKER_00: So we'll be outside, block party, tailgate vibe before the concert from 10 to 4.
- 49:31SPEAKER_00: And then we have the concert inside the Tulsa Theater.
- 49:35SPEAKER_00: I've never seen a local hip hop lineup at this place before.
- 49:39SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: So I'm kind of pushing very hard to sell it out and just make history right out the gate.
- 49:45SPEAKER_00: And um that's Dreamland Again is the name of that concert series.
- 49:50SPEAKER_00: That's 6 p.m.
- 49:51SPEAKER_00: to 10 p.m.
- 49:53SPEAKER_00: So um kind of theming it based off like how I imagine Dreamland Theater to be if it was still here.
- 50:00SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 50:01SPEAKER_00: Um I know it would have it's film, but I know it would have gone into performing arts too by this time.
- 50:06SPEAKER_00: And it's kind of how I wanna um that's how I'm dreaming it, and that's how the show is gonna look.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: So I want people to come to see a concert, but to expect like a a theater performance.
- 50:18SPEAKER_00: Like we really are gonna put a show like with an intermission.
- 50:23SPEAKER_00: Oh, wow.
- 50:23SPEAKER_00: It's really gonna be a show.
- 50:24SPEAKER_00: No, I'm excited.
- 50:25SPEAKER_00: It's it's not your regular concert for sure.
- 50:28SPEAKER_06: No, that is awesome.
- 50:29SPEAKER_06: And I know um you guys have about two events a year.
- 50:32SPEAKER_06: You guys have kickball as well.
- 50:34SPEAKER_06: Did you have it in May?
- 50:35SPEAKER_00: We do kickball in May.
- 50:36SPEAKER_00: Um, it will be March, it will be taking it back to spring break.
- 50:39SPEAKER_00: It'll be back in March.
- 50:41SPEAKER_00: Okay, so that's another thing to look out for.
- 50:43SPEAKER_00: It's another thing to look out for.
- 50:44SPEAKER_00: We're gonna have a full calendar of events this year to come 2027.
- 50:49SPEAKER_06: Perfect.
- 50:49SPEAKER_06: And so for our listeners, um, people to keep up with, is there anything that they can search up on social media when they hear this?
- 50:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
- 50:57SPEAKER_00: Dreamland Tulsa.us, um Dreamland Tulsa Foundation on Instagram.
- 51:02SPEAKER_00: Awesome.
- 51:02SPEAKER_00: Um, but the website is newly upgraded thanks to Smiley.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: So I want people to go.
- 51:08SPEAKER_00: Awesome.
- 51:09SPEAKER_00: Smiley.
- 51:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, shout out to Smiley.
- 51:11SPEAKER_00: And um, we got a facelift, so I want people to go to the website.
- 51:15SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 51:16SPEAKER_06: We're gonna get some foot traffic there.
- 51:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:18SPEAKER_06: So everyone, um, tickets are on sale now until probably right up in the tickets are on sale until there's no more tickets.
- 51:25SPEAKER_00: I want to get to the point to where like people are scalping and selling and reselling tickets outside.
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 51:31SPEAKER_00: We want to see people grind.
- 51:32SPEAKER_00: I want to see, yes.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: I want it sold out.
- 51:35SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, it's it's gonna be a great lineup.
- 51:37SPEAKER_00: I'm not I'm not announcing the headliners all the way.
- 51:41SPEAKER_00: I will be a headliner, Jay Friday.
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: We'll be a headliner.
- 51:43SPEAKER_00: Oh, absolutely.
- 51:44SPEAKER_00: Perfect time will be performed.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: I can perform that right now.
- 51:48SPEAKER_00: And also we might be bringing people on stage.
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: Like it might get that crazy.
- 51:53SPEAKER_06: Also, shout out to um your latest drop that I've been streaming almost every single day.
- 51:59SPEAKER_00: Shout out to the bomb that's gonna be.
- 52:01SPEAKER_00: The bomb is so good.
- 52:02SPEAKER_00: So shout out to the bomb.
- 52:04SPEAKER_00: Please stream the bomb.
- 52:05SPEAKER_00: But um, I do want everyone to know that this festival is a um funding engine for what we have planned on events going out throughout the year and how we fund this classroom that we do at McLean and Webster.
- 52:20SPEAKER_00: Um, is directly impacting these students.
- 52:22SPEAKER_00: I want to open up more schools, programs.
- 52:25SPEAKER_00: I want one of these buildings that they're closing down.
- 52:28SPEAKER_00: I actually want one of these buildings.
- 52:30SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 52:32SPEAKER_00: So I'm pushing real hard to sell this out because that's how we drive like our connection with the youth and how we give back with the TMC and the Webster Records.
- 52:41SPEAKER_00: And um just want to open up more schools, want to develop more artists, want to have and developing more artists takes doing more events and creating more infrastructure in because you don't want to just create artists without somewhere for them to exactly just making it sustainable for them long term.
- 52:59SPEAKER_06: Yeah, because I I like that connection piece about you of like developing that talent and then yeah, then getting in the space.
- 53:05SPEAKER_06: Because lots of the time um they just do the first part and then they're like, oh, we have all these skill sets, but there's no opportunities.
- 53:11SPEAKER_06: And then we're because that kind of sparked you because you were looking for more opportunities.
- 53:13SPEAKER_06: That's what sparked the original concept, correct?
- 53:16SPEAKER_00: So I don't want to just develop people and just throw them out in the world loose and not not have nowhere to go.
- 53:21SPEAKER_00: So um Dreamland is how we how we keep this ecosystem thriving and how we're gonna keep it running.
- 53:28SPEAKER_00: And it's it's just phase one.
- 53:30SPEAKER_00: Um where I see it going is is is all over the world, but it's starting right here in Tulsa, right here on Greenland.
- 53:36SPEAKER_00: Best place to start it.
- 53:37SPEAKER_00: Base best place to do it.
- 53:38SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 53:39SPEAKER_06: Well, I'm so proud of you, and we're gonna sell this thing out, and then we're it's gonna be rolling for the future.
- 53:45SPEAKER_06: And you've got your biggest fans right here.
- 53:47SPEAKER_00: It's for us, like as much as it's for everybody, it's really for the doers, the behind the camera.
- 53:54SPEAKER_00: We got Aaron behind the camera.
- 53:55SPEAKER_00: Yep, shout out Aaron King.
- 53:56SPEAKER_00: We got Cody over here.
- 53:58SPEAKER_00: Like, it's really for the people that do.
- 54:01SPEAKER_00: It's their time to take off and just go and enjoy this thing.
- 54:06SPEAKER_00: Because these things like this is what I want to help like give back to and help elevate.
- 54:12SPEAKER_00: Help elevate creating experiences for all of us.
- 54:15SPEAKER_00: We need it for sure.
