- 0:00Speaker 1: Marximoni's back on seventeen wor.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Well Liz Peak the brilliant column. This also has a
- 0:08Speaker 2: great website, lizpeak dot com. All kinds of great stories
- 0:12Speaker 2: and new stuff every day lizpeak dot com. You get
- 0:15Speaker 2: a column there also at Fox News and The Hill,
- 0:18Speaker 2: Liz Peak. How you doing.
- 0:20Speaker 3: I'm well, thank you.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I'm delighted that the government is going to be up
- 0:24Speaker 1: and running, hopefully within days.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Oh I'm not. I keep it closed. We don't need
- 0:28Speaker 2: these people back there. Clearly it was a I will
- 0:35Speaker 2: say cave in a concession on the part of Democrats,
- 0:37Speaker 2: and Schumer said I will oppose it. But obviously he
- 0:40Speaker 2: gave the wink in the nod for eight people to
- 0:42Speaker 2: jump ship. Right.
- 0:44Speaker 3: I don't know if he did.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I think the Schumer has kind of lost his way, honestly.
- 0:49Speaker 1: And look he is getting blasted again for allowing this
- 0:56Speaker 1: vote to take place and for conceding for actually for
- 1:02Speaker 1: winning nothing. That's the thing, mark, is that what did
- 1:06Speaker 1: the Democrats get from all this? What did they get
- 1:09Speaker 1: from endangering air travelers in America and throwing hundreds of
- 1:13Speaker 1: thousands of government employees off their payrolls, and for causing
- 1:18Speaker 1: snap beneficiaries to have a heart attack because they weren't
- 1:21Speaker 1: going to get any snap payments.
- 1:23Speaker 3: The answer is they got nothing zero.
- 1:26Speaker 1: They're not going to get an automatic extension of the
- 1:28Speaker 1: Obamacare subsidies that they were supposedly fighting for. They're not
- 1:32Speaker 1: going to get a rollback of the reforms to Medicaid
- 1:34Speaker 1: that they're so opposed to. They lost, and I think, honestly,
- 1:39Speaker 1: for Schumer, this is a catastrophe. Look, their party is
- 1:44Speaker 1: already eating their own. This is just giving them more
- 1:47Speaker 1: defeast on.
- 1:49Speaker 2: But correct me if I'm wrong. Nobody's ever gotten anything
- 1:52Speaker 2: out of a shutdown. These shutdown caucuses like, oh for fourteen,
- 1:54Speaker 2: aren't they?
- 1:56Speaker 3: Haha?
- 1:56Speaker 1: You know, I haven't gone back and looked at all
- 1:59Speaker 1: the ones.
- 2:00Speaker 3: I don't know. I mean, I sort of tend to
- 2:02Speaker 3: agree with that.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I can't really remember a time when either Republicans or
- 2:07Speaker 1: Democrats won any big points from shutting the government down. Now,
- 2:12Speaker 1: when the GOP does it, which they did in the
- 2:16Speaker 1: Tea Party era because they wanted less spending. Of course,
- 2:19Speaker 1: when you have the entire media world with very few
- 2:22Speaker 1: exceptions on your side, as Democrats always do, you end
- 2:27Speaker 1: up being the people. Then obviously the GOP looks like
- 2:31Speaker 1: they're responsible and they're blamed for everything that goes wrong,
- 2:35Speaker 1: so it's probably not surprising that they don't end up
- 2:37Speaker 1: winning very much in this case. It really has been
- 2:40Speaker 1: pretty astonishing to watch. I mean, I tweeted out something
- 2:44Speaker 1: or exed out something yesterday, a paragraph from Axios saying,
- 2:49Speaker 1: it's hard to blame the Democrats. It's hard for Republicans
- 2:53Speaker 1: to blame the Democrats for the shutdown when after all,
- 2:56Speaker 1: they control all three branches of government. It's like the
- 2:59Speaker 1: author never heard to the filibuster. They don't know how
- 3:02Speaker 1: it works. I mean, really, Mark, you got to say,
- 3:04Speaker 1: that's pretty damn dishonest. And that is sort of the
- 3:08Speaker 1: tone that the left wing media, meaning all the media
- 3:11Speaker 1: except for you and me, has been treating this as
- 3:15Speaker 1: you know, it's all the Democrats are the good guys.
- 3:18Speaker 1: The Republicans are like Keem Jeffries is out there every
- 3:22Speaker 1: two minutes going President Trump and the Republicans are trying
- 3:25Speaker 1: to starve the American people and that's why they won't
- 3:28Speaker 1: reopen the I mean, really, it's pretty appalling. You look
- 3:31Speaker 1: at his look at his Twitter feed or ex feed.
- 3:34Speaker 1: That's exactly what he's been saying.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know, people have to just accept the
- 3:37Speaker 2: fact axios and Political Politico are as corrupt as those
- 3:41Speaker 2: the networks are. They're just awful.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Well, they're just dishonest.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I don't know about corrupt, they're dishonest, and it's just
- 3:47Speaker 1: a shame, you know.
- 3:48Speaker 3: I mean, at some point.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I get so tired of Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal
- 3:54Speaker 1: and all the usual suspects, Corey Booker, etc.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Gavin Newsom just playing life, lying about stuff.
- 4:01Speaker 1: They do it all the time, and I don't know
- 4:04Speaker 1: about you, I just sort of I just think that's wrong.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And I really think it's kind of astonishing that more
- 4:09Speaker 1: Americans don't rebel against that.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Hey, if we had honest media, wouldn't they ask a Democrat,
- 4:15Speaker 2: if it's the Affordable Care Act, if it's so affordable,
- 4:17Speaker 2: why would you need a subsidy to pay for it?
- 4:20Speaker 3: That?
- 4:21Speaker 1: I mean, when it is pretty ironic, you take a
- 4:24Speaker 1: step back. If this thing all came down to the
- 4:27Speaker 1: extension of kind of emergency premium subsidies so that people
- 4:32Speaker 1: can afford Obamacare, what does that say about Obamacare? What
- 4:36Speaker 1: it says is that it's a failed program. It never worked.
- 4:40Speaker 1: The minute that the Supreme Court struck down the individual mandate,
- 4:45Speaker 1: you knew it was a catastrophe because the whole concept
- 4:49Speaker 1: of Obamacare was that you were going to have millions
- 4:52Speaker 1: and millions, tens of millions of Americans enrolled, including young,
- 4:57Speaker 1: healthy Americans, and you would insist on their enrolling even
- 5:02Speaker 1: if they didn't want to, because you had this individual mandate,
- 5:06Speaker 1: and they were going to carry the costs basically of
- 5:09Speaker 1: the older, sicker Americans who really had to have health
- 5:12Speaker 1: insurance and also signed up for Obamacare. When those young
- 5:17Speaker 1: when that young cohort, the young healthy cohort, heard that
- 5:20Speaker 1: they no longer had to buy Obamacare because the Supreme
- 5:23Speaker 1: Court says it's against our constitution to make somebody buy something.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Then the program was done, but the Democrats never admitted it.
- 5:33Speaker 1: But now, excuse me, now they are faced with the
- 5:36Speaker 1: reality that it doesn't work without that individual mandate.
- 5:40Speaker 2: That's a perfect explanation of the problem.
- 5:42Speaker 3: And of course it's true.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Of course we should have actual media that reports all
- 5:47Speaker 2: that explains all that, but they don't. So the mom
- 5:53Speaker 2: Danni administration is forming. It looks like a lot of
- 5:57Speaker 2: people from the Deblasio administration, so that's not I mean,
- 6:00Speaker 2: it's bad, but we got through eight years at de Blasio.
- 6:03Speaker 2: We'll get through this, all right, won't.
- 6:04Speaker 1: We We'll get through it, but it's going to be
- 6:07Speaker 1: a pretty unpleasant time. And I think probably the X
- 6:10Speaker 1: factor in all of this is the anti semitism. You know,
- 6:16Speaker 1: I'm look, progressives are going to fail because their policies
- 6:20Speaker 1: are bad.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Eventually we'll get rid of this guy. But it's the
- 6:24Speaker 3: cozing up to.
- 6:27Speaker 1: People like the unindicted co conspirator in the World Trade
- 6:32Speaker 1: Center bombings that really makes me anxious.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Yeah, but again, we got through eight years of the Blasio.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Well what does it mean. What does it mean for
- 6:42Speaker 2: the Yeah?
- 6:44Speaker 1: Now, but he wasn't like a Muslim friendly with terrorists, right,
- 6:49Speaker 1: that's a pretty new thing for New York City mayor.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Well, he was pretty bad member honeymoon in Cuba. He
- 6:55Speaker 2: was seen with the cop killing a terrorist down there
- 6:57Speaker 2: in chesh Myers's true. Yeah, so that is true. Well,
- 7:01Speaker 2: what does this mean for the midterms? If macdonne takes
- 7:04Speaker 2: over by you know, fall of next year, it's a
- 7:07Speaker 2: mess in New York that will affect the midterms, won't it.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Well, I think that the more that he comes up
- 7:13Speaker 1: with really crackpot ideas and tries to implement them and
- 7:16Speaker 1: they fail. Yes, the Republicans you use that as an example,
- 7:21Speaker 1: But by the way, I'm sorry the having this coffee attack.
- 7:25Speaker 1: We're already seeing Democratic Socialists attack and now challenging Hakeem Jeffries.
- 7:33Speaker 1: My guess is AOC is going to primary Chuck Schumer.
- 7:37Speaker 1: There's going to be an awful lot of moderate traditional
- 7:40Speaker 1: Democrats under the gun as we approach the midterms. Is
- 7:44Speaker 1: that going to be good for them or for us?
- 7:47Speaker 1: I don't think it's very good for Democrats, and you
- 7:50Speaker 1: really do sort of see this civil war taking place
- 7:53Speaker 1: in their party. An awful lot of money is going
- 7:57Speaker 1: to be spent, I think protecting incumbents in the Democratic
- 8:02Speaker 1: Party like Schumer, who you know, is not popular. But
- 8:07Speaker 1: I think most funders are going to say, well, you know,
- 8:10Speaker 1: I really don't want AOC as my senator. So I
- 8:13Speaker 1: think they've got big problems going into the midterms. And yeah,
- 8:17Speaker 1: Ma'm Donnie is the face of that.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yeah, imagine if John F. Kennedy came back to life
- 8:20Speaker 2: and looked at his party and said, what the hell
- 8:23Speaker 2: did you do to my Democratic Party? Unbelievable.
- 8:26Speaker 3: He would not recognize that mark. He would not recognize it.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Really, well, everybody check out Liz Peak's columns at The
- 8:31Speaker 2: Hill or Fox News, but go to her website. There's
