- 0:00Track CAUs the Galaxy's most unpredictable start trick podcast unpredictable. Indeed, some days
- 0:14we started eleven round one. That's right. It just depends. So you
- 0:23can have in the background low that works. Just do it like that.
- 0:28It's low in the background, it's kind of in the back, and we
- 0:30just keep it going for a little while and it'll just stayed out. After
- 0:33like a minute, my headphones are dying, so I can't even hear it.
- 0:35So, yeah, it's there, it's there, it's in the background.
- 0:38It's all cool. Cha three, Oh, I just saw my typo
- 0:45dan potine it's supposed to be. Yeah, Well, I mean a poutine
- 0:50is a verb. If we're gonna decide that poutine, I mean, do
- 0:53you poutine? I poutine? I don't know if you were trying to abbreviate
- 0:57Canada. That's to differentiate from American poutine, right poutine? Yeah? Or
- 1:06is it poutine in a Can? Hey? It works either way. We
- 1:11do love our can foods here in America. Know what? Um, Well,
- 1:15let the listeners decide is it is it? Is it am I saying
- 1:19that dan Can poutine? Or is it poutine from a Can? Or am
- 1:23I eating it in the can? Who knows? Am I out of a
- 1:29can? I don't know. You you get the can poutine? That's what's
- 1:36that second most American thing you can say? What eating poutine out of a
- 1:41can on the toilet, on the can or in the can, out of
- 1:47the can, from one can to another? Where did we go wrong?
- 1:52I don't know, we're just so or is the poutine about to Lombardo?
- 1:59Is Lombardo a verb? I don't know. Yeah, you're gonna get you
- 2:05know what? I need a you need a question mark? What flavors do
- 2:09you offer in your new line of can bootine? One of them should be
- 2:15a little ocho little in there, yea, yeah, yeah. Oh,
- 2:27ladies and gentlemen, it's krek Cast. Three are another week and other week's
- 2:30gone by. Oh my gosh, we had a third episode of Strange New
- 2:32World. We're talking about today. That's our main topic. And of course
- 2:36we'll go through all of your feedback or lack thereof. I don't know.
- 2:39I haven't checked the feedback for and Pootine always trek cast all the latest Pootine
- 2:46news. I should get another set of letters to go over here that says
- 2:49food cast for when I put up the letters for Trek, gast like,
- 2:53would you food cast player? Yeah, food cast is Uh did you notice
- 2:58um Ln and Kirk eating sandwiches on the street today? They did. They
- 3:02were eating sandwiches. They were eating delicious, delicious sandwiches, the sandwiches that
- 3:07will save your life. What variety of sandwich were they eating? They were
- 3:10eating a hot dog, which apparently will save everyone knows. As everyone knows,
- 3:16is a sandwich, yes, with meat from a can or a tube.
- 3:23Actually it was probably made into a can and to put into a can
- 3:29so an I'm sure, well they do. They're called a little so you
- 3:38know, it was strange is at first? Um she refused the hot dog.
- 3:45She may be the very first woman in Star Trek to refuse a hot
- 3:49dog from Captain Girk. You know, he offers that wiener and they just
- 3:53seemed to just take it. Oh she wanted it by the end. Yeah,
- 4:00yeah, we'll tell you. We'll talk about that though. Yeah.
- 4:02All right, Well, should we get to the news go for it?
- 4:11All right? So our first news story comes to us from bleedingpool dot com
- 4:17and guys, we are going to see the return of Bruce Horrack to Strange
- 4:23New Worlds aka Hammer. All right, so, um, from what we
- 4:30know, he is not playing Hammer, He's going to be playing a different
- 4:32character. But Bruce's back baby, Okay, I just thought that was kind
- 4:38of cool. So sorry. And it's a slow week as the strikes continue,
- 4:42so he is he gonna wind up being Discoveries? They're not Discovery but
- 4:46to Strange New Worlds Jeffrey Combs, where he plays every different alien character.
- 4:49He can you know what, one can hope? Yeah, one can hope
- 4:55because he's pretty good. So yeah, the reviewers head exploded after watching the
- 5:01episode. Back, Let's don't do time travel? I love that. Thanks
- 5:10all right, and so our next second news story comes to us from Variety
- 5:14and um, for those of you who are big gamers out there, there's
- 5:16a new show coming out based on among us those uh those little characters where
- 5:24you get finding the imposters. Yeah, so they're making a game or a
- 5:29show out of it. So why am I bringing this in Star Trek is
- 5:30Well, the animation studio behind this new show is the same animation studio that
- 5:35does Lower decks. Animation studio called Tip Mouse. That's literally their name.
- 5:43What is it mouse? Tip Mouse? Like, yeah, Mouse, okay,
- 5:48yeah, that's the studio. Well, these guys responsible for putting the
- 5:51tits on the Batman costume as well. That's how they got started once once
- 5:58they took over for Gotham put Tit's on goes a deep cut, wasn't it?
- 6:03Yeah? Very deep cut? So yeah, I thought that was fun.
- 6:09And then our last news story comes just from GameRant dot com. Grandpa's
- 6:14back out there, Patrick Stewart, still talking about how he wants to make
- 6:16up a card movie based off Guard season three. The only reason I bring
- 6:20this up is there's a fantastic quote that he shared that I think kind of
- 6:26sums up where we're at with this thing. He says, quote, I
- 6:29keep telling people and mentioning it, and so far there's been no eager response.
- 6:34It might well happen, and that it could be, and I think
- 6:38in a very appropriate way to say goodbye folks. Hasn't he said you'd buy
- 6:45him multiple times? Kind of? That's right. Yeah, I just love
- 6:48that he's just like, yeah, I want to do this. Nobody wants
- 6:50to do it. Yeah, no, No, nobody like Castwise wants to
- 6:57do it. Nobody wants no response period. Yeah. I caught a I
- 7:02caught a clip of Betty White roasting Bill Shatner on his comedy roast thing that
- 7:09they did years ago. Yeah, and it was absolutely hysterical. I probably
- 7:13should have linked that somewhere um for people to watch again. But it was.
- 7:15It was pretty good of the roast she did of him and Sulu at
- 7:21the same time. He was there. Oh, it was great. It
- 7:25was fantastic. Michelle Nichols was there. Um, yeah, it was pretty
- 7:29good. I'll go back and find that and post it in the group or
- 7:31something. It was. It was pretty bad. It was actually pretty bad,
- 7:33but also hilarious. So well talked about having talked about having sex with
- 7:39Shatner. It was great. It was great. Yeah, right back to
- 7:46that hot dog. Here you are, ladies and gentlemen. All right,
- 7:49well let's get to the main topic, all right. Shower Episode three was
- 8:01called Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow. I think it's just three Tomorrows and two
- 8:05commas, is that correct something like that. You got the notes pulled up
- 8:09from wiki or do I need to pull that up. I'm bringing them up
- 8:11right now. So yes, finally good Yes. Tai twelve twenty six on
- 8:18YouTube asks did anyone play star Trek Resurgent. Yes, And I was supposed
- 8:22to put up someone's review that they typed up on Discord last week, and
- 8:26I forgot about it. So I'll make sure we do that in our feedback
- 8:28section. Well here I got that was quick. I read it quick.
- 8:35Somebody's comparing Patrick Stewart to h As long as Patrick does not try to shake
- 8:46hands of imagine it very people, he's good. Yeah, yeah, he's
- 8:50not. As long as Patrick Stewart's not leading the free world, we're good.
- 8:56Awesome. So here's the long line. Lawn travels back in time to
- 9:01the twenty first century Earth to prevent an attack which, after humanity's future and
- 9:07history, will bring her face to face with their own contentious legacy. So
- 9:13there you go. Yeah. So, I mean, like I said in
- 9:16my quick reaction, overall, I enjoyed it. I thought it was a
- 9:20decent episode. I had fun, I was smiling. There was lots of
- 9:22funny scenes, there was lots of getting to know Leon la On a little
- 9:28better, and I like, I like the whole thing. I like how
- 9:31they did the time traveling right without really being anything huge, but yet at
- 9:37the same time having huge ramifications, and it was easy and easy out kind
- 9:41of anyway, with this little button press thing she had. So there wasn't
- 9:43any crazy set up for it, like a wormhole or sling shot around the
- 9:50sun. It was just the guys from the future and in the temporal Cold
- 9:52War or whatever, screwing around again. So yeah, Lawn and Jimmy sitting
- 9:58in a tree kays as I enjoy. Yeah, well let's just Tiberius.
- 10:03Yeah, so yeah, Um, Now, I guess one nitpicky. There's
- 10:09a couple of nitpicky things. But the first nitpicky thing is the timeline,
- 10:16as in, when they have this happen as opposed to win is actually supposed
- 10:22to happen according to the already established timeline. Do we really does it really
- 10:26matter that much? Do we really care that much? I think what they're
- 10:31doing you're referring to, um, you know, con was supposed to rise
- 10:35to power in the nineteen nineties and all that, the Eugenics wars back then.
- 10:39I think what they're doing, And they hinted they hinted at this in
- 10:43Picard season two when we saw the the Project con right, you know materials,
- 10:52um, this had already happened at that point. So I think I
- 11:00think they are right there taking all the inconsistencies that have been in Star Trek
- 11:05over the years, and they're explaining a few of them away via the temporal
- 11:09Cold War, so that they can explain any of them away the via the
- 11:16temporal Cold War. There was a timeline. That's it. There's a timeline
- 11:22shift. Um. What becomes interesting then is once they do that, Once
- 11:28we've established that they do that, there, well you are unshackled, but
- 11:35from cannon. But at the same time, the idea of this is the
- 11:39prime timeline no longer exists. There is no prime timeline anymore. Okay,
- 11:48they've they've they've gone just shy of saying that strange New Worlds exists in a
- 11:56different timeline than ts Okay, all they had to do is when when that
- 12:03when the Romulan girl says, this was all supposed to happen in nineteen ninety
- 12:07two, and now it's thirty years later and I'm still here, but it's
- 12:09meant to happen, so it's still going to happen. Um. All they
- 12:13had to do was have Lan react. I don't know, is it Lan
- 12:18or Leon or la On? Yeah, that's why better. Um, all
- 12:24they had to do was have her react and and be confused about the reference
- 12:31to nineteen ninety two, and then it would be confirmed that the timeline she
- 12:35grew up in this happened in the early twenty first century, not the late
- 12:39twentieth century. But they didn't they they kind of left it. They kind
- 12:45of left it alone there. So this is this is great. I didn't
- 12:50realist when this is this is a great, tie says I guess I must
- 12:54be in the minority this week. I thought it was boring and I do
- 12:58not like Kirk casting at all. Spot comes in and said, you mean
- 13:01store brand Jim Carrey and Sam Rass music comes in. It goes lmao,
- 13:07he really does look like Jim Carrey. I can't unsee it. You know,
- 13:11he's he's thinner than he's thinner than William Shatner was. That's that's what
- 13:16it is. Well back in the day, Shatner was pretty well fit for
- 13:20that time, that that period of time in the sixties. Right, this
- 13:24guy is James T. Carry. This guy is pretty skinny. Um.
- 13:33I can honestly say that from last season his looks I never liked. But
- 13:37what he was, what he did and how he came across on screen,
- 13:41was okay, this episode you just kind of gotta hold it off on its
- 13:46own because it's not the real Kirk. It's not the real Kirk. This
- 13:50Kirk is in a different timeline. He was not even born on a planet.
- 13:52He was born in space. Um, he shouldn't have even known how
- 13:56to drive a car then, but somehow he did. Yeah, that that
- 14:00didn't make too much sense. So that's my only other nitpicky thing with you.
- 14:03Okay, so because I suffered for the people. Yeah, they did
- 14:07an interview with him. Yeah. I saw it on the Will Wheaton Show,
- 14:09which, okay, fun fact about the Will Wheaton Show. It used
- 14:13to be on Paramount Plus and then they removed Prodigy and apparently the Will Wheaton
- 14:22Show as well. Really, yeah, I was surprised by this. What
- 14:26what the hell? Man, it's your own produced thing. Why wouldn't you
- 14:31put it on Paramount Plus? Is it just on YouTube now? It's just
- 14:33on YouTube now? I don't know, man, whatever, that's really strange.
- 14:39That's really strange. It is very strange. We'll think about that for
- 14:41a second. What possible incentive would you have to not have it on your
- 14:48own streaming service and just have it on YouTube only. I have it okay,
- 14:54because then you have to pay him for the YouTube revenue, and you
- 14:58have to pay him for the the paramount, the paramount plus revenue. If
- 15:01you cut it off there, you don't have to pay him, the crew,
- 15:05the directors, all of that off that paramount revenue. You only pay
- 15:11him off the YouTube revenue. Um. I have another thought. Yeah,
- 15:18shows like that that are not scripted shows, they still have writers. Yeah,
- 15:26correct, Okay, So is it that they can't do this because of
- 15:31the writers strike, but contracts don't cover uh, streaming on strictly on websites
- 15:39like YouTube, Like, is this a workaround? It could be. We
- 15:43don't know how the contract structure, so it honestly could be either. It
- 15:48could be a combination of our theories. It just we don't know for sure.
- 15:52All we know is that is off and that's really weird that it's off
- 15:56paramount plus. Okay, So back to the Oh I'm sorry, good?
- 16:00Oh yeah, yeah, I was gonna say about what they said in the
- 16:03interview. Oh yes, go ahead. Yeah. So the way he put
- 16:06it, especially about the car and how Kirk would be able to do that,
- 16:10he said, that's just Kirk's ability, right, he figures a way
- 16:12out, and so he figured out the car. That's that's kirt it.
- 16:19He did the Kirk fu on the car, that's right. Yeah, yeah,
- 16:22sorry you did. Mention is we have yet to see him portray prime
- 16:27Kirk because everything he's been in he's been an alternate version of Kirk, which
- 16:33is true. This is a good point. Yeah, didn't he didn't he
- 16:37meet Pike? Didn't he didn't he meet Pike at the very end of the
- 16:42the last episode maybe just like on the screen real quick, Yeah, I
- 16:49think that. Well, and then she talked to him. Yeah, that's
- 16:53true. That's true. We did see him, but that wasn't like a
- 16:56big interaction. It was just yeah, right, not enough to really get
- 17:00a personality different, right. So that I mean, those are the points
- 17:06that he brought up about all that, So yeah, I can see where
- 17:08he's coming from that. So when I was talking about all the inconsistencies over
- 17:14the years that they can now explain away with the he was kirking off Christ
- 17:21Come on. So when when Laon walks onto the bridge of Not Her Enterprise,
- 17:29um and they get hailed by by Captain Spock, Um, Kirk introduces
- 17:38himself as Captain James T. Kirk of the of the United Earth Fleet Ship
- 17:45Enterprise. He doesn't say Starfleet, right, Yeah, um, United Earth
- 17:51Space Probe Agency is what Starfleet was called in the first few episodes of TS
- 17:56before they settled on the name Starfleet. Yeah. So did those first few
- 18:00episodes take place in a different timeline than the rest of the series. Can
- 18:07that be explained away now? Because of the temporal cold warn people jumping around
- 18:12and all these micro changes to the to the timeline. I mean, they
- 18:18specifically chose that name for the for the agency that is not Starfleet, so
- 18:26I mean they had to know what they were doing there. You know what
- 18:30I love about this scene right here that I noticed the first when I watched
- 18:34this the first time. Her boots Okay, her boots literally add four inches
- 18:42to her height. Yeah, because this guy who plays Kirk is that freaking
- 18:45tall. Yea, And yeah, they wanted to do that so that but
- 18:51but here, here's the thing though, because he's that tall, but look
- 18:53at them standing next to the little car. His head's barely over it.
- 18:57These two people are actually short. Yeah, so you know it's like a
- 19:02it's like a it's like an eight hour drive from from Toronto to Vermont.
- 19:08Yeah, playing chess? Yeah, how much? How much chess did this
- 19:15guy? Did that scene take? Three days? Yea, probably some some
- 19:18wardrobe changes in there, like, you know, three days, he's back
- 19:22for three days playing chess. And I got to ask, what, you
- 19:25know, what was this initial bet? What did he use for his initial
- 19:30bet to get that whole thing going? That's what I was one idea,
- 19:32I have no idea. Yeah, probably bluffed, you just bluff. I
- 19:37liked the chess scene. I thought the chess scene was fine. It was
- 19:41had some issues with it as far as I'm raising the money. But I
- 19:45mean, honestly, if you're hustling and you're and you're at a chess board
- 19:48and you really know what you're doing, um, you could bluff your way
- 19:51into a game and then be able to to win good amount of He's a
- 19:55professional and says, hey, I'm gonna bet five hundred bucks, and you
- 19:57clean the floor with him, like you can go up pretty fast. So
- 20:02yeah, but the scene before that one Vegas, right me, Yeah,
- 20:07I do plan to hustle people in Vegas. You're right. The scene right
- 20:10before that they they threw away their starfleet uniforms, which you know, you
- 20:17take your you take your insignia off. Yeah, and it's just it's just
- 20:19a funky looking shirt. So I mean, it would just it would have
- 20:22been really easy for somebody to be like, that's a nice shirt, Well
- 20:25play for it and yeah, or put put a coat over it. Just
- 20:29buy the coat. But the counter is they don't know that. To them,
- 20:34it's a uniform. They don't know that in that timeline, it would
- 20:38just look like clothes. So they're just gonna go get an outfit and blend
- 20:41in period. Yeah, I mean they're looking around. You can assess the
- 20:47situation. Yeah. Yeah, he's five eleven and she's five four. Exactly,
- 20:52they're both kind of well five eleven is not necessarily sure. Geez,
- 20:55I'm taller than he is. That's that's amazing. Well that's their listed height.
- 20:59It's like that's that is shorter than that. Yeah. Yeah, so
- 21:04I got I actually did homework today. I got some notes. Ok.
- 21:07Wow, yeah, I did my quick reaction. You did homework? I
- 21:11mean, yeah, are we don't know, I've been I've been doing that
- 21:18lately. Yeah, exactly, we've changed the Thailand. Yeah, son,
- 21:22lone is concerned with restoring the timeline and making sure things play out the way
- 21:26they're supposed to, but she has no problem given this lady a criminal record
- 21:30by setting her up for a for a shoplifting arrest in the store, by
- 21:36dropping evidence in her bag. What's that about. Yeah, I thought about
- 21:41that. Well, I mean, that's a distraction play, and that's a
- 21:47that's a I don't know, that's that's a good point. But at the
- 21:49same time, I mean, you had to do something. You're already there,
- 21:52You're already going to change something, so just by something there. Somebody
- 21:56put up in the chat that the police interr act was the most unrealistic thing
- 22:03that they've ever seen, and I have to agree. Yeah, you know,
- 22:08this guy leads he leads them on a on a high speed chase through
- 22:11the city, and he has no identification, uh, no license, the
- 22:18cars stolen, and they just let him go because some lady with a camera
- 22:23shows up, starts starts talking some smack. It is Canada. It is
- 22:30Canada. It's not that different. It is Canada. It is Canada in
- 22:36that they don't have the same civil rights that we have in the United States,
- 22:40and the burden of proof is even less to hold him. So,
- 22:44I mean, if it was truly accurate in Canada, they'd be on a
- 22:47moose. All he had to say is sorry, yeah, I'm not I'm
- 22:56not gonna say what I'm thinking, but anyway, I'm just not going to
- 23:00go there. Um. Oh, I'll say this, How would that scene
- 23:03I played out different? And if Mumbanga was driving the car anyway? Moving
- 23:07on? Oh wow, I mean you're not wrong, but would it have
- 23:15been more realistic? Anyway, Let's get to this scene right here. I
- 23:18liked this scene where they brought nut Lady in um where they go to get
- 23:23a toaster. They go to get a toaster. Yeah, I mean,
- 23:27I cannot stand her as the engineer. I'll just be in the oat.
- 23:32In the oat and in the opening of this episode we see her again where
- 23:34she's got all this stuff she's collecting, and I thought this was probably the
- 23:38best use of her character, which is her with the crazy yes voice,
- 23:42with all this shit she's stolen over the thousands of years she's been on earth,
- 23:47trying to explain it away as if someone's just going to take her word
- 23:49for it. Um. I thought it was great. I thought it was
- 23:52great about the only way you could really use her is to make her look
- 23:56crazy because she is. Uh, And then when they go back in time
- 23:59or they tried to hear and they go to her store or whatever the hell
- 24:03she is, she still got the same tags on these things. Yeah,
- 24:07so it's horrible. But yet she knows nothing about engineering yet, which I
- 24:11don't know how to make an engineering Yeah, exactly. I thought that was
- 24:15just hysterical. I was like, oh, this is perfect, Like,
- 24:17these are the only two ways you could ever use this character. Now they're
- 24:21done, you don't need her for the rest of the season. So they've
- 24:26created like a temporal causality loop. Lan tries to find her because she's an
- 24:30engineer. Speaking with Lan is what inspires her to become an engineer, which
- 24:37causes Lan to seek her out when she needs an engineer. Yeah, so
- 24:41it's a closed circle yep. Yeah, and being an alien, I guess
- 24:45it doesn't really matter as far as how that affects the timeline, but it's
- 24:48still one of the things. And Sam brings up another gray point, which
- 24:52we haven't discussed yet so far this season, but it's something that is just
- 24:56totally off. Everybody's quarters are freaking huge. Yeah, what does the deal
- 25:03with that? Like, honestly, they've they've missed the boat. This is
- 25:06the one thing that I've liked on Discovery, Like one of the very few
- 25:10things I liked on Discovery. We had to have burn him with Tilly,
- 25:12Right, they had shared in corners. There was a little room and their
- 25:15bunks were like five feet apart, right, um, lower decks where we
- 25:19get to see them, you know, literally in the hallway on a wall
- 25:23where their beds are, right, I mean that's way into the future as
- 25:27well. So I don't understand. We saw that with Lura, she was
- 25:33in a cot, you know, on the side of a wall. That's
- 25:37true, we did so, I guess now, like on his head of
- 25:40security, right, So because she's a senior officer, right, get a
- 25:42full room. So that's a senior officers quarter and a pike's room is freaking
- 25:45gigantic. Yeah yeah, but I mean that's still a lot. Yeah,
- 25:53you know, Spox is pretty good size. It all has to do with
- 25:57your your rank, to your rank and your position on the ship. I'd
- 26:02imagine, you know, Data had his quarters, but he also had his
- 26:04own lab m Yeah, you know, Picard has his quarters, but he
- 26:10also has his ready room. Yeah, but I mean they'd ever made mention
- 26:12of it. But I'm sure, I'm sure the first officer, I'm sure
- 26:15Riker had an office somewhere on the ship. Either that or he's got a
- 26:19smaller version of Picard's desk in the corner. He had ten Ford exactly.
- 26:25It ted forward. But I mean his uh data's room was tiny. H
- 26:32it was a hole in the wall. Well, seven and nine had the
- 26:34had the borg out cove. She'd astrometrics. Yeah who three yea, yeah,
- 26:41she had quite a bit. Yeah. Yeah, I still think it's
- 26:45oversized in my opinion. Oh it is, but yeah, so you know,
- 26:52yeah, you know, I like to nitpick um and and the great
- 26:56thing about nitpicking is when they get stuff right, it feels good. You
- 27:03know. The whole thing with the with the tridium um. You know,
- 27:07Tridium is used to make night sights on on firearms. I have I have
- 27:12firearms with with tridium night sights on them, and I have some of them
- 27:17that the Knight sites don't work anymore because they're fifteen years old and the half
- 27:21life is twelve years, so they fade over time. So when they started
- 27:26talking about that, I'm like, oh, they got the they got the
- 27:27science, right, that's cool. This guy exactly exactly can you pootinet?
- 27:48Oh? Boy? Just checking things off my list? Tridium check. Uh
- 27:55so yeah, while we're nitpicking, I'll go right back into another one.
- 28:00So they have um DNA hand scanning devices in the twenty first century. I
- 28:07don't know about you, guys. I live in the twenty first century and
- 28:11I've never had an interaction with a hand DNA scanning device to get into a
- 28:17building. But that's just me biometrics. You put your hand on there,
- 28:22sure not. Doesn't mean doesn't check your DNA. That checks, Yeah,
- 28:27that checks your your your fingerprints and the measurements. Even if you use a
- 28:32full hand, it's measuring. It's checking the measurements of your hand. Yeah,
- 28:34and combination with your with your fingerprints, DNA DNA goes to a lab
- 28:41in the twenty first century. Yeah, that's a good point, fair point.
- 28:47Yeah, I know, I know um LN left a gun in CON's
- 28:59bedroom. Yeah yeah, yeah. A little bit of an issue with that,
- 29:06A little bit of an issue. It is an issue. I think
- 29:08it was a I think it was an editing issue. I don't think it
- 29:12was part of the story. I think I agree with you, Um,
- 29:19because if she left it there, it absolutely would have polluted the timeline in
- 29:25some way, and then uh, agent Smith wouldn't have been waiting for her
- 29:30in her quarter saying good job, you did a great job. Thanks,
- 29:33Can we have our time tri quarterback or whatever it is, So that I
- 29:37was a little disappointed with somebody dropped the ball there, Yep. I wouldn't
- 29:45like maybe somebody brought it up on set and the director or producers were just
- 29:51like, a nobody's gonna think about it, forget it. Yeah, But
- 29:53then they were like, but those guys, the three guys, the one
- 29:56in the van is gonna right, yep, yep, who's gonna know,
- 30:00they're gonna know, who's gonna who's ever gonna know? They're gonna know.
- 30:04Nobody's gonna know. Nobody's Yeah, that's oversight, kind of like a Starbucks
- 30:14coffee cup left on a counterwall filming. Yeah, movie, Yeah, that
- 30:17stuff happens. Apparently, So that device she was using, apparently UM had
- 30:23the same UM interface as that we we've seen it in UM Voyager. Yeah,
- 30:32the start the time ship was it relativity? Was that the name of
- 30:34the ship. So good on them for consistency. That was that was kind
- 30:41of cool, um because we've had no time agencies. Yeah. Yeah,
- 30:49So Sam answered a good question, he says, so that he brings up
- 30:52a good point. Are the are we meant to believe that everyone entering that
- 30:56area or descendants of Con? Even though he's a kid. At that point,
- 31:02I don't know, like why would the biomet why would the DNA biometrics
- 31:07be for the Augments? Yeah, I don't know. To me, it
- 31:14seemed like they were being held there, so I thought exactly exactly, Yeah,
- 31:19I mean they were being genetically manipulated, created and held there. They
- 31:23wouldn't have the keys to get in and out. It's not like they were
- 31:27the one. Now, if that was Con in his thirties and that was
- 31:30his base of operations, this would make more sense. But it's not.
- 31:34It's uh whatever the guy's name, Ricardo Montebon at ten years old. Maybe
- 31:41it's the Nunians things who were doing all of this research and they're using their
- 31:49own material to do it. So it's not for the Augments to get in
- 31:57or out. It's for them. Still an issue because now their prodigy that
- 32:02they've created could use it to get in and out. Yeah, I don't
- 32:08know, so it's a little Yeah, that's a little bit of a there
- 32:10should have been a different way for them to get in. Well, I
- 32:14mean, if this device can read someone's DNA just by their hand scan,
- 32:21perhaps it can also tell the difference between naturally occurring DNA and altered DNA.
- 32:27And since law On is three generations removed, her DNA is doesn't appear altered
- 32:36anymore. I don't know. Yeah, I'm just spitballing. These are just
- 32:40little This is what's kind of good about this episode is these are little nitpicky
- 32:44things are pulling apart. But at the end it's still a great episode and
- 32:45it's still a fun episode. So um so overall, I mean, yeah,
- 32:50they're gonna miss things, even in the best episodes. They're stuff missed.
- 32:52So or scree so time travel and into it. We see this guy,
- 33:00this temporal agent at the beginning, and he got shot and we don't
- 33:06know what happened. We don't know how he got shot, but he obviously
- 33:12failed in his mission, and I'm wondering, I'm wondering, did he go
- 33:21on the same mission that she did basically go through many of the same steps
- 33:27that she did. But when she when he got to when he got to
- 33:35Khan, he couldn't he couldn't bring himself to protect the kid because it's the
- 33:40old If you could go back in time, would you kill Hitler then?
- 33:45And he hesitated and that's how he got That's how he got shot. So
- 33:52when he goes to the future and gets lns who would be able to complete
- 33:55this mission, someone who has to complete this mission and protect Khan because if
- 34:00they don't, they will never exist. Get that guy get shot with the
- 34:04gun that was left in concerts exactly exactly the gun they left in the room.
- 34:08He gets shot icon That's exactly exactly what I was. All right,
- 34:14Yea, then maybe we will. That goes to another thing that I brought
- 34:16up. Are we going to revisit the temporal Cold War storyline in Strange New
- 34:22Worlds? Hope not. I hope we do, because this would be the
- 34:27perfect way to bring Scott Bacula in as a as an older as an older
- 34:34um Jonathan Archer and have it actually makes sense and have it actually count for
- 34:39something, not just be a you know, a cameo appearance. If they
- 34:45did that as in like a one off episode to bring him back and for
- 34:50whatever and tie things up. As far as that goes with the temporal Cold
- 34:52War, I'd be okay with it. But boy, if they if they
- 34:55weave in the temporal Cold War stuff into the whole season, that's a man.
- 35:04They already if they bring back Porthos as well, but I want Porthos
- 35:12like this. A dude dressed like a dog's standing there with Archer. Yeah,
- 35:19yeah, just talking to him. Everybody sees him as a dog,
- 35:22but he sees him as as a man. Yeah. And it's the guy
- 35:28who plays Himmer. That's how it was very good. Great, hey,
- 35:30full circle, We're good. I have to ask when when they blow by
- 35:34the cops, uh in the car and the cops spills his coffee and that
- 35:37causes him to chase him. Is it tim Morton's coffee? It probably it's
- 35:44because if it's Timmy's, you know, yeah, you cause him to spill
- 35:49as Timmy's and he's just gonna let you go. No, I don't think
- 35:52so, I'm call him bullshit? Or is don't it drop on the floor?
- 35:53I mean, come on yet to try Himportons? It's uh it's good
- 36:00stuff. Yeah, it's good stuff. You can get on Amazon. You
- 36:02can get Tim Horton's cake cups, Okay, and they're really good. We
- 36:07kind of we switched over. That's kind of our our brand now. And
- 36:10if you're in a denobulin prison, you can make it in the toilet.
- 36:13So I'm sorry I laughed. I laughed out loud. I know it was
- 36:22pretty good. Yeah, that was pretty good. Yep. So the thing
- 36:28about the getting the posh, swinky hotel with the view that they got without
- 36:31having IDs, it's pretty easy, Pavel. It's called cash. Yeah,
- 36:37yep, it's called cash. Yep. In fact, any hotel they can't
- 36:43deny you lodging because you don't have a credit card. They can require you
- 36:49to leave a five hundred dollar cash deposit or a thousand dollars cash deposit,
- 36:53but they can't deny you lodging. So the moral of the story is he
- 36:59played a lot of chess. They were there for four days playing chess.
- 37:04So Sam brings up a good point. He says, I approve of the
- 37:06car choice. Seeing Kirk drive a Hellcat charger was kind of badass, But
- 37:10they missed the most important thing about that scene. When he gets into it
- 37:15and starts the cars. Yeah, sabotage should have come on the minute he
- 37:20turned that car on. Yeah, should have looked over at lay On and
- 37:22said, ooh, that probably would double the cost of the episode probably.
- 37:28You know what, there's a lot of things like that. There's a lot
- 37:30of missed opportunities. When he says he was born in space on the USS
- 37:34Iowa, I get what they were trying to do, say, you know
- 37:37he was you know, he wasn't born in Iowa. He was born on
- 37:40Iowa. I get that right, But but you know, how great would
- 37:46it have been if he said, my father was stationed on the USS Kelvin
- 37:52he was the helmsman when I was born, So I was I was actually
- 37:55born on the ship. Yes, we know what's Yeah, I know it's
- 38:00an alternate timeline. So it's not like they're saying this is the Kelvin timeline.
- 38:06But the whole episode is about how certain things are destined to happen,
- 38:10and time kind of pushes back and makes things happen a certain way. I'm
- 38:15sure there's several degrees of that. You know, he's supposed to be born
- 38:20on Iowa, in Iowa, but you know, if he's if he's not
- 38:23born in Iowa, he's born on the Kelvin. That's the next best thing.
- 38:28I don't know, I just I thought it was a missed opportunity.
- 38:30Yeah, I agree. I like that idea. I like that idea a
- 38:32lot, especially since you know, they're really doing a lot of um callbacks
- 38:38like that, like when he mispronounces her name and says sung instead of sing,
- 38:44which is what everyone has been thinking for you know, thirty years.
- 38:47At this point, Doctor Nunion sung con Union sing. They just sound they're
- 38:53so close, they're so close. And the and the out of universe explanation
- 38:58is that Gene Ron Ray just really liked the name used it twice. I
- 39:00remember reading that somewhere. And it wasn't until you know, the mid two
- 39:06thousands that they tied these two corners of Star Trek together by you know,
- 39:10tying Doctor Song to the augments and all of that. But just a missed
- 39:16opportunity, all right. I did see a preview for next week on the
- 39:23two show yep Um. It wasn't much of a clip. It was just
- 39:28Pike is there and there that'll be nice. Yeah, they're trying to get
- 39:35a hold of some looks like aliens, I guess in big furry suits that
- 39:38they've seen before maybe know that they have. These are these are the um
- 39:46no, these are the guys that from the way back when in the Menagerie
- 39:52right before they talk about it where they had to go and fight these barbarians
- 39:55right before and for that episode, right, And that's what these that's what
- 39:59these guys are. Okay, So so I thought of another missed opportunity that
- 40:09they had. At the end of the episode, when she facetimes with Lieutenant
- 40:15Kirk. You know, she's obviously happy that he's alive, but at the
- 40:23same time devastated because she loves him at that point. Yeah, but the
- 40:31man that she loves doesn't exist. That's not him. It looks just like
- 40:36him, but it's but it's not him. And that's why when she gets
- 40:38off the phone, she's she's bawling. Um she's mourning the loss of someone
- 40:45who's still alive, which is, you know, kind of interesting. It's
- 40:52more like a breakup. You know, I still love him, he's right
- 40:54there, but I can't be with him because he doesn't want to be with
- 40:58me anymore. And I and you know, we all liked the kiss that
- 41:02they had, and a lot of people were, you know, pleased that
- 41:09it didn't go further in usual Jim Kirk fashion, But what if it had?
- 41:19And we revisit this storyline next season when she realizes that she's pregnant with
- 41:29the child of James T. Kirk, but not this James T. Kirk,
- 41:36So he has no responsibility to raise this child or even know about it.
- 41:43But like she keeps it to herself. She's the only one that knows
- 41:45this is Jim Kirk's kid, but she won't tell anybody. Be a great,
- 41:50great way to bring in the song I just took a DNA tist some
- 42:01music episode. Yeah, I'm a hundred a bad bitch. You never heard
- 42:06that song? You never heard that I'm sorry heavy Lizzo. Yeah, yeah,
- 42:13those things that so so, I don't know if they would do that
- 42:22from the standpoint of you pretty much have to write her character off some well
- 42:25maybe they maybe they do. Maybe they want to write her character off,
- 42:28maybe they wanted to, you know, maybe maybe she'll move on at some
- 42:30point. Well, I mean she's not in the original series, so she
- 42:34at some point she moves on from this ship, and she's there when when
- 42:37he's the captain, and and and that would be perfect. The end of
- 42:45the series is that Kirk takes command of the Enterprise and she can't be there.
- 42:53She requests a transfer and no one knows why. Yeah, and it's
- 42:59because her son, who you know, was living with Grandma on Earth or
- 43:04whatever. I don't know, is the son James Song is the son of
- 43:12Jim C. Kirk. Tiberia Tiberius Song. Yeah, they had the cold,
- 43:22but they had the whole conversation about the name, and it's ridiculous and
- 43:25blah blahlah blah. Well it was my grandfather's name. And she names him
- 43:30after his father's Yeah, she names him Tiberius after her father, his father's
- 43:35grandfather. Yeah, God, I should write for this show. You should,
- 43:39all three of us really should. Yeah, I know, we call.
- 43:44We're so much cheaper, we'll just cross the picket line. Yet.
- 43:52Oh no, they'll still pay us. I'm just working from home. It
- 43:53screed. They don't have to pay me very much to give me to do
- 43:55it. It'd be great on my talents, cost a lot. If we're
- 44:01gall on loan from God with one hand tied behind your backs, billion dollars
- 44:07franchise. They can't come and cheat. Yeah, well they can start us
- 44:12out. They can start us out that way, and then we can negotiate
- 44:14it from more because they won't be able to get it. Nah, they
- 44:16will keep Yeah, people would love it so much. They wouldn't they wouldn't
- 44:22be able to It doesn't matter. I've seen how they work now, I
- 44:24know. Yeah. No, Um, it's weird to me. We have
- 44:30not seen any progression yet on Sybok they teased him. It's weird. We've
- 44:37had a lot of things going on, and I mean really, if you
- 44:40look at it from the from the their time perspective, Um, it hasn't
- 44:44been very long, like a week. It could have been a line,
- 44:46It could have been just to cut away seeing something. Yeah, I don't
- 44:52know. I don't put that up. I don't know if we're gonna I
- 44:55don't know if we're gonna get that. Um. You know the other thing,
- 45:00these these are not nineteen ninety two seasons. Yeah, no, no,
- 45:05no, what do we get eight or ten episodes? Ten episodes?
- 45:08You know they used to get twenty six episodes. Yeah, they You know
- 45:12Louisana would show up three times in a season. You know, Well,
- 45:19Thank god, we don't have that problem this season. Uh, some of
- 45:22those episodes with her were a bit we're not my favorites. No, yeah,
- 45:29no, well, um, should we get the listener feedback? Sure?
- 45:34Why not? Sure? Yeah? Hey, that's still my favorite part
- 45:44at the end. Hey, all right, well we got Chad's biz on
- 45:50the line, so let me bring him in there. He is glasses this
- 45:55time. Oh yeah, well I've been playing Diablo, so okay, let
- 46:00to see what's so what's up? Man? Would you think of the episode?
- 46:07Well? I kind of want to try poutine. I've never tried poutine
- 46:09before, so you'll plug your arteries. It's a good baby and cheese and
- 46:15French fries. Yeah, it sounds unhealthy, exactly, sounds delicious. But
- 46:23yeah, sure I'll gain like ten pounds if I look at it. Yeah,
- 46:32but uh, I want to know how you play chess and get that
- 46:37swunky hotel that that just kind of threw me off, because don't you have
- 46:42to have an ID for a hotel too? No, you need a five
- 46:46hundred deposit. I'm gonna ask my wife next. I'm good of one of
- 46:51these big swunky hotels. You know, it's do we have to have an
- 46:54id so, but it's I don't know the episode was. I liked it,
- 47:04but I didn't like it like some parts and words their strange new worlds.
- 47:08Is it better than the last two or or worse or uh? Well,
- 47:13I liked it better than the last one. The pacing was quicker because
- 47:16last week's episode, well was it. Last week's episode was fifty three minutes
- 47:22or something like that, and it seemed to drag and they kind of tighten
- 47:27it up a little bit to make the flow the pacing go faster. Uh
- 47:31this week, I liked the pacing. I thought it was pretty quick.
- 47:36I didn't care for the montages. You know. The music was all right.
- 47:38I kind of wish I had different music for those parts. Um,
- 47:45I want a hot dog now, so may fourth your line. A couple
- 47:50of days I got the family. It must have been It must have been
- 47:57nice. Uh. It must have been nice for the crew shooting in Canada
- 48:01and not having to pretend that it's not Canada. So many you know,
- 48:07so many productions they shoot in Canada. They shoot Canada for the United States.
- 48:10And I think they poked fun at that too. When Kirk Kirk was
- 48:15like, I think we're in New York and she's like, no, we're
- 48:16in Yeah. That was my one note I put on my phone a pit
- 48:23Blaine, Canada. So, and has their budget been cut this season or
- 48:30what it was like? It seems like Paramounts having maybe you know, I
- 48:35know they're having financial problems at Paramount. So no, we haven't had any
- 48:39reports that their budgets been cut. My thought is a couple of things on
- 48:44that end, because I thought I have a thought on this also. Yeah,
- 48:47One, it's not really cheaper to shoot the way they've been shooting,
- 48:53like on location is actually fairly expensive, um because typically they shoot inside their
- 48:59their studio where everything's controlled, so that makes it cheaper and faster. So
- 49:04that also cuts down and costs being not in location like this that that's expensive.
- 49:08Um. But they very clearly have been saving money on high end special
- 49:14effects. So I'm thinking the back end, we're going to be seeing a
- 49:16lot they have tecorn ship, so I think that's where the money is going
- 49:21to end up towards the end of the season. Yeah, So it's budget
- 49:23shifting. It's not a budget exactly, they're shifting it from these episodes to
- 49:28these episodes, which is common they I mean, Boiler's hair is going to
- 49:30cost a lot in that episode. So, oh yeah, man, have
- 49:32you bought have you bought diet cvs? It's expensive? No, it's not.
- 49:37Just go to do it in San Francisco. It's free. Just walk
- 49:39into up and walk out. I mean it's pretty it's pretty easy in California
- 49:45apparently. So do you guys think Pearl Caine's gonna die this season? I
- 49:51hope? So who the engineer? Uh? You know, I gave a
- 49:58little thought and I decided I don't care. I don't, I don't.
- 50:02I didn't give it any thought at all. It was just an instant.
- 50:05Yes, well, I just didn't think in this world, she's gotta have
- 50:08her hands up doing something like this, claiming she sees a troll. I
- 50:13don't know. Then you know something weird wacky, which by exactly, um
- 50:20have we brought this up before? Maybe we have, But Chaz, why
- 50:23do you have the rom the the Farranghi ball used to control Captain Picard hanging
- 50:32from your ceiling. It's fine, kitchen, Okay, I know that,
- 50:44it's really it's just really concerning. Any moment, I'm thinking you're gonna start
- 50:46talking about UMAs and the ball's gonna glow and then gonna lose his mind.
- 50:52My thing for forced perspective. I didn't realize how small it was. I
- 50:55thought I thought it was twenty feet high. I thought there was a guy
- 50:59inside it with a motorcycle, well, like on a motorcycle, like in
- 51:06the Looking about the circus. Yeah, yeah, all right, I'd watch
- 51:14that. Cha chasms. They make fun of my studio too. It's okay,
- 51:19buddy, at least anything else you want to bring up chasmsiness. I
- 51:24don't know what are you guys looking forward to for this season, Like,
- 51:30I would like to see some star trek straight in the world exploring in the
- 51:37Exploring Show. I would like to see new aliens, a different alien something,
- 51:40yeah, other than yeah or Romulan Karen with that airs. So hey.
- 51:49They did try to warn us. They did say a lot of big
- 51:51swings this season. Yeah, well that was a swing that the cops scene
- 51:55was the swing on the miss for me. I just all my eyes.
- 52:00I was like, yeah, not out of here, and very easy ways
- 52:05to have gotten around that. Other than that scene. Yeah, that was
- 52:09like a political statement that they wanted to stop right in the middle of the
- 52:12show to make it. Yeah, and that seems just kind of like and
- 52:16I see a lot of comments that ruined it for him. Yeah, yeah,
- 52:20yeah, it's just like no, Bronson brings up a great point as
- 52:24far as what we want for the rest of the season more Pike. Yes,
- 52:29yes, I guess that baby's kind of got him because what he had
- 52:34the baby at the beginning of the season. Ye. Yeah. I read
- 52:39an interview with one of the producers and they were talking about that and how
- 52:44they purposely had to plan these episodes without him because they knew he was gonna
- 52:49be gone for paternity to leave. But like if you knew that months ahead
- 52:53of time, you could have like written things were like you could still will
- 53:00have him in the episodes, but like shoot that stuff later because they shoot
- 53:02everything out of order, like yeah everything, so yeah, yeah, Or
- 53:08you could have done like maybe your your first episode is maybe from UNA's perspective
- 53:14and her being in jail and something she has to deal with, you know,
- 53:17so we get that side of it. So maybe that's one week where
- 53:21he's off and you can deal with that, like you could have done other
- 53:24things. I don't know, Or he could have just had the first three
- 53:28episodes where he's barely in him at all period, and then just because they
- 53:30would have done that anyway and then moved on from there. That's what I
- 53:34meant, Just like what three weeks? Well, maybe they did the scenes
- 53:37we see him in and some of these episodes probably it could have happened well
- 53:40after the fact, and that was all they had time for because each episode's
- 53:44what a week worth of time? Yeah? Right, I mean there's there's
- 53:47three weeks. So we get to the fourth episode here, we should see
- 53:51a little bit more of them, I would think, right, you think,
- 53:54because yeah, because that Lawyer episode, it's not like he had to
- 53:57do a lot of like memorizing a fight scene or anything like. It's just
- 54:00no, no, I mean, yeah, you could have done that,
- 54:01and you could have done that in a few hours. Right. Do you
- 54:05think this universe has now changed, like with the temporal time all that crap?
- 54:10Do you think? I don't. Maybe it's like the spaghetti and uh,
- 54:16like you think we branched off and now we're changing things around. I
- 54:22cannot wait for Don Cheetle to play Pike. I mean I say, I
- 54:31say no, but they could change that at any given time. I mean,
- 54:35it's just track, right, so you can you can do anything from
- 54:37one episode to the next and not even pay homage to what you just did
- 54:40in the last episode. So who knows. Yeah, well, hey we
- 54:44got we got a lot of people, so we should probably move guys.
- 54:46I think, thanks Jazz, appreciate it all right. We also got hipster
- 54:50spot waiting. Oh, here we go hipster spot. Oh nope, that's
- 54:54Sam. Never go hipster hipster spot first. There he is, Hi,
- 55:00hear me, we can hear you find great. So I think this Carocane
- 55:07thing, it's gonna be a Pulaski situation where she's gonna be like in and
- 55:12out. I hope she's gonna get Polaski. People will love her and some
- 55:17people will hate her, and she'll be very divisive that way. No,
- 55:22she's just gonna be here for one season and she'll she'll be gone next She'll
- 55:28never be spoken of again. There you go, Yeah, exactly like like
- 55:30Pulaski. M hm yeah. And I tell you, like, you could
- 55:38show me Lan in yoga pants anytime of the week. Okay, she looks
- 55:49stunning in that, so I mean, bring it on. Yeah, okay,
- 55:54she looks like um one of the character one of the main characters Comin
- 55:59a Drummer from the expanse Um. They look a lot alike. I always
- 56:01I always think of Comina Drummer's kind of yeah, that's true. Both are
- 56:06very very pretty speaking val like if you saw au yeah that the bout er
- 56:13lady, right yeah, yeah. Um. So if you saw a stranger
- 56:17in your room, when don't you like pull out your um phaser and and
- 56:22aim it at her Rather than being so calm, I think she was physically,
- 56:29mentally and emotionally exhausted at that point. That's how I kind of explained.
- 56:37That's how I explained that away. I thought of that too. If
- 56:38I walk into my house and somebody's behind me and they're like hello, you
- 56:43know, there would be some there'd be some kung fu going on, probably
- 56:46probably right away. I jumped straight to the kung fu and I just looked
- 56:52up Comina Drummer and and yeah, I see the I see the resemblance very
- 56:57much, very much. Look a lot alike. Yeah, Okay. And
- 57:01another thing, like you said that cash is enough to get you a big
- 57:06hotel room without um getting an ID, But how the hell do you get
- 57:10in and out of the US UM without that. They said they bribe people.
- 57:16Yeah, bribe people, bribing them. That's a given the current situation.
- 57:29I don't know that that will fly, even in the northern border.
- 57:34No, it doesn't, it doesn't fly. It doesn't. You know what
- 57:37they should have just they should have just had um, They should have just
- 57:39had her have her library store whatever it was, you know, twenty minutes
- 57:44outside of Ontario in Canada, and it would have made more sense. Or
- 57:49hell, there's a huge uh you know, there's a huge land border between
- 57:54the United States and Canada, and to think that the whole thing is manned
- 58:00is not realistic. They need they needed a scene of them creeping through the
- 58:05woods at night, and it would have been fine because I mean, I've
- 58:08crossed hilarious too. I've crossed in and out of Canada, you know,
- 58:14several times, always at a border crossing. But they're also they're not all
- 58:17created equal, right, you know, where the interstate meets meets the international
- 58:23line. There's a huge border crossing where there's just a two way road you
- 58:30know that meets the border crossing. It's two guys in a shock, that's
- 58:35it. Or when it's on the water and you just take a boat across
- 58:38one from one house to another. If they were creeping through the woods,
- 58:45it would have been great if they ran into big Foot, and then they
- 58:47could have been like, is that an alien species? I don't know,
- 58:52I don't remember from the south, I don't remember where it actually it is,
- 58:57um but you know there are places on the border where the border runs
- 59:01right through the middle of town. Yeah, so like the McDonald's is in
- 59:06Canada and the Taco bell is in the United States, and they're on opposite
- 59:10sides of the street. Yeah, and I remember, I don't know what
- 59:14town it is, but there's a town where the library, uh, the
- 59:19front door is in the US and the back door, so you know,
- 59:25yeah, theoretically you could go and you know, and and the rule is
- 59:30you're supposed to exit through whatever door you came in. But the idea that
- 59:34there are people who who come in the library, go up to the third
- 59:37floor, find a book, come downstairs, and go out the back door
- 59:40into you know, Canada. You know that shit happens all the time.
- 59:45So I mean, they could have made this, They could have made this
- 59:46happen without the throwaway line about bribing a border guard. I think it would
- 59:51have been more realistic. But yeah, yeah, last last thing like okay
- 59:57wearing like uh episode three, right, so that's two out of the three
- 1:00:02episodes without any strange new world and so ye old world. Yeah, we've
- 1:00:09been seeing some strange new world very quickly, you aren't they they're gonna have
- 1:00:15to rebrand. Yeah, that's that's what I keep saying. Hipster Spock is
- 1:00:21gonna be mad next week because they're gonna go to a new world. But
- 1:00:23it's gonna be very ordinary. It's gonna be like that wasn't strange at all.
- 1:00:31Right on, all right, guys, thanks a loot for having me
- 1:00:36on, and keep up the good word. Hopefully next week it's gonna be
- 1:00:38good, all right, all right, And now we have Sam who's been
- 1:00:45waiting patiently for so long. Sam Kirk, Sam Kirk, you can hear
- 1:00:55me, guys. Yeah yeah, Hey. First of all, I just
- 1:01:00want to say a long time listener, first time caller. Yeah. So
- 1:01:04I got that out of the way, and awesomely my favorite podcast I listened
- 1:01:08to you guys, So thanks for doing it. Oh, thanks, thank
- 1:01:12you. I don't know what's wrong with you. What do you mean?
- 1:01:15I mean, this is the only place I get my news. I didn't
- 1:01:17even know about the summer until Daniel Mansion did. That's right. We don't
- 1:01:22have enough time to go into what's wrong with me though, the guest.
- 1:01:29As far as this episode, um, I surprisingly liked it a lot more
- 1:01:32than I was expecting to. Yeah. I kind of felt, oh,
- 1:01:37I get it, they're kind of going down this road of it feels like
- 1:01:39kind of a knockoff of the City on the Edge of Forever a little bit.
- 1:01:45But h But at the same time, I thought they did a pretty
- 1:01:47good job and it landed pretty well. Um and uh. I really thought
- 1:01:54the best performance though, was Christina a Tong. I thought she did a
- 1:01:58great job as well. Yeah yeah, yeah, but also, um the
- 1:02:06chief Engineer. About her you always think of whenever I see her on screen,
- 1:02:10is you know, her running out of the back room and the princess
- 1:02:13bride yelling yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm not a witch your wife.
- 1:02:23Yeah, she's just not. The chocolate coating makes it go down easier.
- 1:02:30She doesn't. She doesn't fit in the universe. That's what I keep saying.
- 1:02:34She's a Tim Burton character. But I think that's okay. I think
- 1:02:37it's okay to have a Whackadoodle character somewhere. I just hope that she's not
- 1:02:43in very much stuff and she's gone, yeah, yeah, that'd be nice.
- 1:02:46I kind of want them to have an alien race called the Whackadoodle hilarious,
- 1:02:52and they're from They're from Whackadoodle Prime. Yeah, exactly where the no,
- 1:02:58no, no, who is the guy who used who called Gene Roddenberry
- 1:03:01whackadoodle in the in the in the biography thing that we the documentary you watched.
- 1:03:07That's where I get that whackadoodle from. There was a documentary you watched
- 1:03:09and we reviewed on this on this on the show, and he called Gene
- 1:03:14Roddenberry's ideas whackadoodle? Um who was Remember, I'm gonna have to go back
- 1:03:20and watch that documentary listen to our episode anyway, that's probably better. But
- 1:03:24um yeah, there was. That's where I get that that from. Anyway.
- 1:03:30No, just uh another thought here, Um, so I thought them
- 1:03:37meeting up with the well, first of all, she's just some photographer,
- 1:03:39right, the like a fake Romulin woman and yeah, just standing there.
- 1:03:43They met her by happenstance, you know, and they want to see,
- 1:03:46you know, the photo. She goes doesn't get bigger. She's like,
- 1:03:49oh you mean zoom, So we're getting some sort of you know, difference
- 1:03:52in you know, uh linguistics between eras. But then somehow she magically keeps
- 1:03:59up with them in the car chase. How did that work out? Like,
- 1:04:02they drive a pretty far distance and she just ends up and in the
- 1:04:05right place at the right time. So now as you can teleport, okay,
- 1:04:09okay, yeah, I see that. All right, she probably has
- 1:04:12a try quarter. She knows, you know, she's tracking them, she
- 1:04:15knows where they are, she knows exactly the best route to take to get
- 1:04:17to them. Oh yeah, yeah, point, yeah, that makes a
- 1:04:21lot more sense now, yeah. But yeah, all in all, I
- 1:04:26thought it was good. It was a hit me in the fields at the
- 1:04:29end. I was surprised. Yeah yeah, yeah, new track episodes that
- 1:04:31really kneeled me in the fields. So yep. And then she's a great
- 1:04:36character. This is this brings up the point I made him my quick reaction
- 1:04:41that, um, do we know the bridge crew, We know a lot
- 1:04:45about them. Um, then you know there's attachment there with these characters.
- 1:04:50These are great characters that they've created on the bridge with with bike. Um,
- 1:04:56not just all this stuff in the Shenanigans with Spock and Nurse Chapel,
- 1:05:00but Mambanga um obviously, damn it, oh Ortega. That's what I'm trying
- 1:05:06to think of, Not Chapel, but Ortega and the stuff with her um,
- 1:05:11which we're gonna see a little bit of her piloting skills, I guess
- 1:05:13in the next episode. Yeah, I want to see more of her.
- 1:05:15I'd like, yeah, how do you like her? And of course more
- 1:05:18of a hurrah um because I love how much much I really know um so,
- 1:05:26but I'm sure we'll see more of them. Yeah, I'm sure,
- 1:05:31all right, all right, well really yeah, thanks for being on man,
- 1:05:35Thanks, I appreciate it. And Tie Tie in the comment says,
- 1:05:39the more this episode has talked about, the less I like it, and
- 1:05:42I don't like it very much to begin with. Yikes, just sometimes we
- 1:05:46gotta have you come on, come on the air with us and give us
- 1:05:49your feedback on things. Have some pootsine, have some Footsine, you'll appreciate
- 1:05:54it. We did have a little bit of from the coffee account. By
- 1:05:59the way, Kay and Andy bought us a coffee three days ago. Thank
- 1:06:02you, intent and then Eric Woods, thank you for that as well,
- 1:06:05So thank you guys. You do have account still those h donations over to
- 1:06:10the coffee account do there's sixty seven supporters over there in total who who have
- 1:06:15given us a coffee essentially through that account. If we have the link that's
- 1:06:17up on these that when they get this gets posted or not, but we
- 1:06:21should post that because all those all that revenue goes towards you know, give
- 1:06:25backs to you at conventions and whatever else we come up. Thanks for the
- 1:06:30show and the website in the whole nine yards, so thank you, yep,
- 1:06:33we appreciate it. Do we have any voicemail? Um, I've got
- 1:06:38a question from tim oh okay and he sent a Yeah, he sent an
- 1:06:43email but forgot to attach his his thing to it again he got it,
- 1:06:46He got it, okay. Email emailed them back and said you forgot the
- 1:06:49attachment, so we'll have that go ahead and go ahead Daniel okay, He
- 1:06:54says, uh, how did la lawn suspect Celia was supposed to be a
- 1:06:59Romulan when nobody knows what a Romulan looks like yet until Kirk and Friends in
- 1:07:02Balance of Terror? So I guess he loves that photographer yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:14Well Kirk would have known because their war worth the Romulans. And that's how
- 1:07:17I could identify the ship as well from his timeline, right, and they
- 1:07:21did mention the Romulans ship so m and in his timeline they'd been fighting the
- 1:07:27Romulans for a while, yeah, and been losing same things. Because that
- 1:07:32was, as Spock said, that was the last ship, right and because
- 1:07:39because of the temporal Cold War, you can disregard whatever you want to about
- 1:07:42exactly pretty much pretty much. That explains a lot. Yeah, timelines explains
- 1:07:47all that. Yep, it does. It does. We fixed everything by
- 1:07:51breaking it all timey wymy spaghetti, yep, all right, let's play the
- 1:07:58audio, all right, Yeah, let's play this from Tim. Let me
- 1:08:00get my how do you pulled up here? Hello? Boys, it's Tim
- 1:08:05here in the sunny shoreham by scene. Um, before a start, I
- 1:08:12just wanted to say, Dan, I wasn't really driving with my knees and
- 1:08:16you know, it was just a joke to say that. Very piercy sort
- 1:08:21of reclined in the chair, arm out of the window, smoking a doobie
- 1:08:26one hand and driving and I wasn't really Sunday anyway. Um, it's been
- 1:08:34a while since I did a recording for a current show. Look, so
- 1:08:42far, I think this season has been awful and the latest episode was I
- 1:08:48thought terrible, almost unwatchable. I made a few couple of notes, but
- 1:08:53I'll keep it as brief as I can. All Right, Episode one was
- 1:08:56shit, all right. Episode two was a little bit better, terrible because
- 1:09:00Anson Mountain was in it. And episode three was shockingly bad as well because
- 1:09:05Anson mount wasn't in it. There's a connection here anyway. Look, I
- 1:09:11don't like the new engineer, the one who was in that Christmas movie Scrooge.
- 1:09:17Don't like her. She's just two on the nose, you know.
- 1:09:21I don't like Kirk. Kirk has zero charisma and he can't act. I
- 1:09:29don't think the acting is great, and the script between him and Lalan and
- 1:09:33there's no chemistry. He was awful. Although I will say that I did
- 1:09:39enjoy about the episode, which is quite touching. Was the very final part
- 1:09:43when she when Kirk sort of sends her that note, that message, she
- 1:09:48got up, she was upset. I did quite like that. I thought
- 1:09:51that was quite touch him. So the bullshit, how Kirk knows how to
- 1:09:58drive right? Gets that car? The most standout car in the world,
- 1:10:03and he drives it like seven of nine did in the Last Bloody Car?
- 1:10:06Do you remember that? And we all laugh. Look at now she's a
- 1:10:12really good driver and he knows how to drive like that straight. I knew
- 1:10:15he was going to do that, Jake, and I thought, all of
- 1:10:16a sudden, he's going to know how to drive like a beast. No
- 1:10:20Awful hated it. The tropes. Yeah, there's a crazy cookie conspiracy theorist
- 1:10:29which helps them out. But obviously I didn't see it coming that she was
- 1:10:31the one that was bad. I didn't see that coming, and I just
- 1:10:40put at the end it is so bad. Honestly, I think this season
- 1:10:45of Strange New World is on a getting to the point of Dianas as Discovery,
- 1:10:53and I think the only thing that saves it sometimes is when Handsome Mountain
- 1:10:58is on it. Now, this might not be a your opinion, but
- 1:11:02I said at the beginning I was particularly looking forward to it, and at
- 1:11:06the beginning of the season, I wasn't really looking forward to it, and
- 1:11:11it really needs to improve, because I've got to tell you, boys,
- 1:11:14I'm not enjoying this at all. It's becoming a chore and a ball.
- 1:11:18With that said, your show isn't a chore a ball. I love it.
- 1:11:23I love you boys. We will speak soon. I'm sure I love
- 1:11:29you. No, Homo, well, Tim, I mean obviously I don't
- 1:11:36agree with you on this, uh last episode, but I love hearing from
- 1:11:44you, buddy, yet from from across the pond, and uh, I
- 1:11:54love hearing from everybody. And if you would like to leave us a message,
- 1:11:59it was a call. It eight one six to eight seven zero four
- 1:12:01four eight. That's eight one six to eight seven zero four four eight.
- 1:12:05Operators are not standing by. Chad will not be sitting by the phone waiting
- 1:12:11for your call. It's a voicemailbox. So leave us a message and we'll
- 1:12:16play it on the show. Yep, yep, easy enough. We're send
- 1:12:23us an email Chad at wrong at gmail dot com, trek casteng at gmail
- 1:12:27dot com. Either way, like guess, like Timmy does from across the
- 1:12:30Pond. Sorry, well great, all right, anything else as we wrap
- 1:12:39it up? No, that that's basically it will be back next week but
- 1:12:41the next episode. But awesome, awesome show. Guys, appreciate it all
- 1:12:45right, Thanks see you guys. Bye. This is Captain Benjamin Cisco of
