- 0:00Exodus chapter 2. Let us pray.
- 0:06Lord our Father, our King, the Master, the life giver.
- 0:18Lord, we thank you for another day to come and to worship you
- 0:22in spirit and truth, for you are worth to be praised.
- 0:28You are holy. You are mighty to save.
- 0:32Thank you, God, for saving us to the utmost.
- 0:36Your arm is not too short to save.
- 0:39We thank you, God, for giving us a reason to wake up, a reason to
- 0:43live, a reason to draw breath. God, I pray that you'll
- 0:47encourage the Saints. Strengthen the Saints in this
- 0:51hour. God, I pray for the underground
- 0:53church worldwide. God, I pray that you will help
- 0:58us to finish this race well, to make it all the way to the end.
- 1:03Help us not to grow despondent and lazy.
- 1:06God, help us not to grow distracted.
- 1:11God, I pray that you'll fan the flame in our lives.
- 1:16God, send the comforter. Lord, refine us in your refiners
- 1:21fire. God, make us more like Jesus
- 1:25today than we were yesterday. God, we consecrate this temple.
- 1:30We say no to the vile things that are dragging us away from
- 1:35the communion that we have with you.
- 1:37We say no to those things. God, we've counted the cost.
- 1:44Lord, we stiff arm every other lover, and God, we returned back
- 1:52to our first love. Lord, help us to do the things
- 1:58that we once did. Lord, when we felt the
- 2:01connection. God, when we knew your voice,
- 2:05when we were listening and in tune with you.
- 2:08Father, I pray God that you will put your finger, Holy Spirit,
- 2:13upon all the things in our lives that are holding us back from
- 2:17the fullness that God has for us.
- 2:20God, help us to be in communion with you 24 hours a day, seven
- 2:25days a week, 365 days a year. God, we never get a day off,
- 2:30Father. We never check out Father, but
- 2:34help us Lord to abide in you and you and us as Jesus is in you,
- 2:41Father, we are in him. God, seated with you in heavenly
- 2:46places more than conquerors. God, we just want more of you.
- 2:51Teach us your ways, God. Show us your eternal past.
- 2:54Light up the path, Father. Help us to be light and salt or
- 2:59to this wicked and dark perverse generation.
- 3:02God, I pray that you'll make us into image bearers of you.
- 3:08Father, I pray that we will not hold back from sharing our
- 3:12testimony with those all around us, Father, helping them, Lord,
- 3:17showing them, modeling for them what it looks like to follow
- 3:21after you. God, I pray that we'll overcome
- 3:25the enemy by the blood of the Lamb and the words of our
- 3:28testimony. Help us not to love our lives so
- 3:31much as to shrink back from death.
- 3:35Help us to charge the hill, or we look up, or we see you,
- 3:40Father, the Maker of heaven and earth.
- 3:45We know where our help comes from.
- 3:48The Spirit and the Bride say come, Maranatha, come.
- 3:56We see you, Father returning. Your rewards are with you.
- 4:02Help us to wait well in the middle.
- 4:06God, do in our lives and do with us whatever is your will.
- 4:11Help us to get out of the way. Help us not to fall down.
- 4:16Lord. Help us not to be overcome by
- 4:21depression and anxiety and fear. The love of mammon.
- 4:25God, I pray against those things.
- 4:28Lord, just say you are enough. Jesus is enough.
- 4:34He's all that we need. He's all that we want.
- 4:41We don't care about anything else.
- 4:43We just want Jesus Christ. Teach us your pass in your ways.
- 4:47Show up and show off today. Holy Spirit, wreck us with your
- 4:51presence. Should kind of glory come?
- 5:06I don't know Elohim a Leon, Holy, holy, holy, worthy,
- 5:42worthy. Worthy is the Lamb that was
- 5:48slain before the foundations of the earth.
- 5:51It pleased you to bruise Him. Cover us with Your blood.
- 5:59Cover us with Your holiness and Your righteousness.
- 6:03Take our sinfulness and impute to us Your righteousness.
- 6:11For You are holy and set apart, high and lifted up.
- 6:17We look upon you. Today we receive salvation.
- 6:21Today we call upon that name. We believe that God raised Jesus
- 6:27Christ from the dead. We believe that the Holy Spirit
- 6:31is within us as the down payment, as the security, as the
- 6:37surety of what is to come. We say thank you Jesus Christ,
- 6:46holy and precious and powerful name that I pray.
- 6:49Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 6:59And there was there went a man out of the House of Levi and he
- 7:03took to wife a daughter of Levi. So we see that Moses is from the
- 7:06tribe of Levi friends. And we're going to find out
- 7:09later on that it's the Levitical priest friends who actually get
- 7:15to minister in the temple. And they were not able to
- 7:18actually possess the land because God is their
- 7:22inheritance. And we see that Moses is from
- 7:25that lineage too. And the woman conceived and bore
- 7:28a son. And when she saw him that he was
- 7:31a goodly child, she hid him three months.
- 7:34So she went against the King's command to throw the little boys
- 7:38into the water. 3 And when she could not longer hide him, she
- 7:43took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with
- 7:47slime and with pitch, and put the child in it, and she laid it
- 7:51in the flags by the river's brink.
- 7:54So here among the reeds you can see that Moses was put in to an
- 7:59ark, just like old MO, just like old Noah, whenever he got into
- 8:03the ark and God shut the door. We see the same word mentioned
- 8:07here and we see that Jesus Christ is our ark, and you must
- 8:12get into it, friends. And you see that it is the same
- 8:16word used for the ark that Noah got into, the same slime and
- 8:20pitch that was covered over it, friends.
- 8:23And that was what our life was. It was nothing but a pit of
- 8:27despair. And God pulled us up out of the
- 8:29muck and the mire, and here he's going to protect little Moses as
- 8:34he goes in the little basket down the river.
- 8:38And it's going to come upon this divine protection, this divine
- 8:44appointment that we're going to get to see here. 4 And his
- 8:48sister stood far off to see what would be done to him.
- 8:54So his little sister, she's out there and she's watching to see
- 8:58what's going to happen of this little baby.
- 9:04Five And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the
- 9:08river, and her maidens walked along by the Riverside, and when
- 9:12she saw the ark among the weird reeds, she sent her maid to
- 9:17fetch it. So here we go friends.
- 9:20This is a big story in the book of God, as you can see that
- 9:24God's divine protection for the entire race of the Israelites is
- 9:30going to come about from this man Moses.
- 9:35And you see how the daughter of Pharaoh is the one who finds him
- 9:39there by the water. 16 And when she had opened it, she saw the
- 9:44child, and behold, the baby wept.
- 9:48She had compassion on him and said, this is one of the
- 9:52Hebrew's children. So it was her father who had
- 9:56commanded all the Hebrew babies, all the baby boys to be thrown
- 10:02into the river. Seven then said his sister to
- 10:10Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to you, a nurse of the
- 10:14Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?
- 10:17So here you can see that Moses's sister was watching the whole
- 10:24event, and she saw Pharaoh's daughter come down to wash
- 10:28herself. She saw Pharaoh go to the basket
- 10:31and open it. And then she called out and
- 10:33said, should I go and get a woman, which of course would
- 10:36have been her mother, Moses's mother, to come and nurse him?
- 10:42A and Pharaoh's daughter said to her, go.
- 10:45And the maid went and called the child's mother. 9 And Pharaoh's
- 10:49daughter said to her, Take this child away and nurse it for me,
- 10:55and I will give you your wages. And the woman took the child and
- 10:59nursed it. So you can see here how Moses
- 11:04was able to go back to his mother legally in the law of the
- 11:07land. And this is the way that God
- 11:09works, friends, don't ever miss it.
- 11:13Just think about it. God's protection and provision
- 11:16and His plans for the ages cannot be done away with.
- 11:20They will happen in exactly the way that He has written it down
- 11:24for us. And there is nothing that the
- 11:26enemy can do against it. And as a matter of fact, every
- 11:32single time that the enemy tries to come up with a plan to do
- 11:37away with the plans of God, it plays right into God's hand,
- 11:41because He already saw it. 10 And the child grew, and she
- 11:47brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son.
- 11:52And she called his name Moses. And she said, because I drew him
- 11:58out of the water. So you can see here that Moses
- 12:03is going to grow up in a very favorite environment, and then
- 12:07God is going to use him mightily to set his people free. 11 And
- 12:14it came to pass in those days when Moses was grown that he
- 12:18went out to his brothers and he looked on their burdens, and he
- 12:23spied an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his brothers.
- 12:27So here Moses would have known as he was growing up that he was
- 12:34not an Egyptian, that he was just a Hebrew that was saved
- 12:40during that time because of the compassion of Pharaoh's
- 12:44daughter. And here he sees an Egyptian
- 12:49striking a Hebrew, and it does not fare well with him. 12 And
- 12:55he looked this way, and he looked that way, and when he saw
- 12:58that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian and hid him in the
- 13:03sand. So he killed this Egyptian.
- 13:05Then he tried to cover it up. And here is a lesson for us,
- 13:09friends. We need to wait on God and wait
- 13:12on the way that God wants to do things.
- 13:15We don't need to take God's word and try to make it happen within
- 13:21our own strength and our own mind and our own reasoning and
- 13:25our own flesh. And there have been many Saints
- 13:27along the way who have got themselves into a heap of
- 13:30trouble because they outpaced God and thought that they were
- 13:34the ones who had to manifest their destiny within the walk of
- 13:40the Christian life. And it does not work that way,
- 13:43friends. We must wait on an omnipotent
- 13:47God, who in his perfect timing can do literally anything. 13
- 13:55And when he went out of the second day, behold, 2 men of the
- 13:58Hebrews strove together, and he said to them that they did the
- 14:03wrong. Why do you strike your fellow?
- 14:07So? He's saying you are brothers
- 14:10from the same race. Why are you striving with each
- 14:15other? 14 And he said, Who made you a
- 14:21Prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you
- 14:25killed the Egyptian? And Moses feared and said,
- 14:29surely this thing is known. So you're going to see how God
- 14:34uses this situation to get Moses up and out of Egypt.
- 14:41Perhaps Moses, if he would have stayed in that place, he would
- 14:46not have known the Lord's plan in the full, and he would have
- 14:52tried to make it happen within his own strength.
- 14:55Now he's going to have to leave out of that place and start
- 14:58relying upon the God of Abraham, Isaac in Israel. 15 Now when
- 15:06Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses, but Moses
- 15:11fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelled in the land of
- 15:14Midian, and he sat down by a well.
- 15:17So here we see that Moses leaves Egypt and goes to Midian. 16 Now
- 15:26the priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came to draw
- 15:30water and filled the troughs to water their father's flock. 17
- 15:34And the shepherds came and drove them away, but Moses stood up
- 15:38and helped them and watered their flock.
- 15:42So here we see Moses. He's fleeing from the face of
- 15:45Pharaoh, and here comes the seven daughters of the priest.
- 15:49And you see the shepherds trying to run them off, but Moses
- 15:53stands up for them, and he waters their flocks and make
- 15:57sure that they get the water that they need. 18 And when they
- 16:01came to Ruel, their father, he said, How is it that you've come
- 16:05so soon today? 19 And they said, An Egyptian
- 16:09delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and he also drew
- 16:12water for us and watered the flock.
- 16:16So you can see here that these daughters were impressed by
- 16:19Moses. 20 And he said to his daughters, Where is he?
- 16:26Why is it that you'd left the man, call him, that he may eat
- 16:30bread. So Ruelle wants to invite him
- 16:32over for supper to meet this man who helped his daughters out. 21
- 16:37And Moses was content to dwell with the man, and he gave Moses
- 16:42Zipporah, his daughter. So look at the contentment that
- 16:46is found within Moses. Here he is coming from the
- 16:49palace, and he's out in the field running away.
- 16:53And now you can see that God's working on his heart and his
- 16:57mind and he becomes content. Friends, that is what we
- 17:00desperately need. We need to be content in the
- 17:04situation that we find ourselves in.
- 17:06No matter where you are on planet earth, no matter what
- 17:09your circumstance is, we need to find the contentment with
- 17:14godliness which is of great gain.
- 17:16And here Moses is starting to understand that his identity is
- 17:21not in the palace. His identity is not in the
- 17:25riches. His identity is not in the
- 17:28wealth, his identity is not in the prosperity, but his identity
- 17:34is is in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel.
- 17:39He is content to dwell there. And he is given Zipporah 22 and
- 17:45she bore him a son. And he called his name Gersh,
- 17:50for he said, I've been a stranger in a strange land.
- 17:53That is what we are called to be friends.
- 17:55So is your nurse, and we are strangers in a very strange
- 18:00land. Look around, friends.
- 18:03When God takes the blinders off of your eyes, when he unstopped
- 18:07your ears, it is like you're living in a whole new world.
- 18:14You don't see things the same way that you used to see them.
- 18:18You don't hear things the same way that you used to hear them.
- 18:21You finally get to see the layers pulled back and you get
- 18:26to peek into, peer into the spiritual reality all around
- 18:29you, friends. And I pray that that is your
- 18:34walk with him. I pray that that is your
- 18:37experience. I pray that you have seen the
- 18:41revelation and been able to look behind the curtain and been able
- 18:45to see all the spiritual things that are happening all around
- 18:48you. Friends, I pray that you're not
- 18:51just waiting for heaven, but that heaven can come to earth
- 18:55today, and God gives us glimpses and snapshots of what is to
- 18:59come. 23 And it came to pass in the process of time that the
- 19:07king of Egypt died, and the children of Israel's side by
- 19:10reason of the bondage. And they cried, and the cry came
- 19:15up unto God by reason of their bondage.
- 19:18So God is going to have pity upon Israel. 24 And God heard
- 19:24their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with
- 19:28Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God never forgot it, friends,
- 19:33but he put them there for a reason.
- 19:35And He already told Abraham back in chapter 12 of Genesis that he
- 19:40was going to send his descendants into a land for 400
- 19:45years and that they would be oppressed and in bondage, but
- 19:48they would come out of that place stronger and richer and
- 19:51more mighty, friends. And that is what has happened.
- 19:57We'll end on 25. And God looked upon the children
- 20:00of Israel, and God had respect to them.
- 20:04So He's going to make good on His word.
- 20:07He told Abraham what would happen.
- 20:09And that is exactly what is going to happen, in the same way
- 20:12that today God has told us what is going to happen.
- 20:15And that is exactly what is going to happen.
- 20:18Friends, you can bank on it. You can build your whole life on
- 20:21it. Friends, you'll never be put to
- 20:23shame if you place your entire faith upon the Lord Jesus.
- 20:27Christ, build your life upon the cornerstone.
- 20:32Build your life upon the solid rock.
- 20:35Do not build your life on the sinking sand of materialism and
- 20:40mammon. Do not build your life upon
- 20:43vanity. Do not build your life upon your
- 20:46own abilities. Do not build your life upon your
- 20:49own intellect and the degrees that you have on the wall.
- 20:53Do not build your life upon all of your own abilities, but build
- 20:58it upon the solid rock of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is
- 21:04profitable for this life and the one to come.
- 21:07I hope that you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's
- 21:10Word. I know that I sure have.
- 21:12I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 21:14I love you and we'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 21:16God bless you.
