- 2:07Speaker 1: It was super long. Hope you guys enjoy. Let's jump
- 2:10Speaker 1: into that episode.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Welcome to for the Dads. Uh, listen a lot to
- 2:15Speaker 2: break down. I've been in Chicago and New York this
- 2:18Speaker 2: past week. Right now, it is currently as you're watching this,
- 2:21Speaker 2: it's Wednesday, It's Wednesday morning. And again, I know I
- 2:23Speaker 2: said in the intro before the dads, the older generation,
- 2:26Speaker 2: the baby boomers who don't quite have everything figured out electronically,
- 2:29Speaker 2: please make sure you're subscribed to this channel on YouTube,
- 2:32Speaker 2: Bust with the Boys.
- 2:34Speaker 3: And again we will be kicking off.
- 2:36Speaker 2: We will have a channel of our own here in
- 2:38Speaker 2: July coming up, so be on the lookout for that.
- 2:40Speaker 2: We will be We'll be teeing it up to you,
- 2:42Speaker 2: laying it up to you as easily as possible to
- 2:44Speaker 2: make the transition, because again I know there are a
- 2:46Speaker 2: lot of older dads that listen. And on that note,
- 2:49Speaker 2: I will say, being in the airport at UH at Loguardia,
- 2:53Speaker 2: there were a couple dads who came up and were
- 2:56Speaker 2: just like, hey, man, love the new show.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Are you serious?
- 2:58Speaker 2: Yes, dude, I'm sitting there. You know, I'm whipping around
- 3:00Speaker 2: the little double stroller. Who knows the times they called me?
- 3:05Speaker 2: I know, one gentleman caught me in a spot where
- 3:07Speaker 2: I'm just trying to make to the bathroom and just
- 3:09Speaker 2: try to find are we good? Are we good on audio?
- 3:13Speaker 2: Or I'm just trying to find the bathroom. Take a
- 3:14Speaker 2: little quick, you know quick dad time out. Got one
- 3:17Speaker 2: of the little kiddos with me and he just wanted
- 3:18Speaker 2: to come over. He'say, hey, man, don't want anything. I
- 3:20Speaker 2: just want to tap you up and just say I
- 3:21Speaker 2: love the new show. He was wearing like a dad hat.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Oh, really looked like a baby boomer. So that was that.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Fired me up? Yes, dude, fired me up. Fired me up.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It's like in his sixties. I don't want to put
- 3:34Speaker 1: that on fifties. Yeah, a little just say fifty. He
- 3:36Speaker 1: looked good, he looked he looks good.
- 3:38Speaker 2: For his age.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Come on, he looked good for his age. That's exciting.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but right now, I know you guys said, you
- 3:44Speaker 2: guys are listening on Wednesday morning again, get the get
- 3:46Speaker 2: the trash cans out to the curb. We are shooting this.
- 3:50Speaker 2: It is nine thirty on Sunday.
- 3:54Speaker 3: I landed.
- 3:54Speaker 2: We had hopes and dreams of shooting this episode at
- 3:57Speaker 2: probably four because we have a big week ahead of us.
- 4:00Speaker 2: We have a lot of interviews that we're doing for
- 4:01Speaker 2: tightening you for busting with the boys. So we needed
- 4:03Speaker 2: to get the four of the Dad's pot. In early
- 4:05Speaker 2: Razy week, I hit the boys up saying, hey, we're
- 4:08Speaker 2: sitting on the tarmac right now. We are delayed a
- 4:11Speaker 2: couple hours, so didn't quite make it in. It's bit hell.
- 4:14Speaker 2: I'll just I'm just gonna kick it off. It's been hell.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Number one. New York is overrated. We had fun, we
- 4:22Speaker 2: made memories, we had fun, but I feel like I
- 4:25Speaker 2: just got back from another military tour just being with
- 4:27Speaker 2: the family. Were we were staying at the Hackston and
- 4:29Speaker 2: we were in like a four hundred square foot hotel
- 4:32Speaker 2: room where there's like no extra space, there's no closets.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Our bags are everywhere. When you have a couple of kiddos,
- 4:38Speaker 2: parents out there know this, you'll know this too, but
- 4:41Speaker 2: you're each kid kind of has a bag of their
- 4:43Speaker 2: own because there's so many things that you have to
- 4:45Speaker 2: pack for a seven month old, There's so many things
- 4:47Speaker 2: you have to pack for the three year old. Things
- 4:50Speaker 2: you have to pack for yourself. Your wife's got every
- 4:52Speaker 2: outfit because she was visiting a friend out there in
- 4:54Speaker 2: New York. So there's dinners, there's you know, she had
- 4:57Speaker 2: stuff for work out there, so she's got a throw
- 5:00Speaker 2: outfits that she had, so we had a lot of luggage.
- 5:02Speaker 2: It's pretty much laid out, utilizing as much space as
- 5:05Speaker 2: possible in this small ass hotel room that was a
- 5:09Speaker 2: prison at times, which we can get into. But it's
- 5:12Speaker 2: been a long week. It's been a long week. It's
- 5:14Speaker 2: been a long weekend. It was fun being at Barstool
- 5:16Speaker 2: HQ last week in Chicago, New York. Had some fun moments.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yep, two and O on the Dozen, Yes, two and
- 5:24Speaker 1: O on dozen Trivia.
- 5:25Speaker 2: We made it to the final four. I'll be out
- 5:27Speaker 2: in Boston this Thursday. That'll be live stream on Barstool's
- 5:32Speaker 2: YouTube channel. But the Booze Ponies are We're coming where
- 5:35Speaker 2: two and oh We're coming.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I love me some Dana Bears, Yeah, shameless.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Love some Dana Beers.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Love fidal Berg, love fiddle Berg, love file Berg. If
- 5:44Speaker 2: you haven't checked out Tires, go check out Tire season two.
- 5:46Speaker 2: That's no free shout outs to the boy Shane Gillis.
- 5:48Speaker 2: But fidal Berg made a little appearance on episode six
- 5:51Speaker 2: and crushed it. Crushed it with Vince Vaughan and Gillis. Yeah, yeah, uh,
- 5:57Speaker 2: but a lot of good dad stories. I'm glad you
- 5:58Speaker 2: guys are tuned in with us, and again, love all
- 6:02Speaker 2: the comments.
- 6:02Speaker 3: That you guys are leaving. I was kind of just
- 6:04Speaker 3: scanning through them.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I love that you guys were just like, fuck it, dude,
- 6:07Speaker 2: go over an hour if you guys have to, we
- 6:09Speaker 2: don't care. I saw I saw one comment. It's like, hey,
- 6:12Speaker 2: you guys's hopes of going under an hour are gone.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Sherman.
- 6:15Speaker 1: He now has a spotlight. I'm the problem.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, she's got the spotlight.
- 6:21Speaker 1: There's no way you two are ever going to go
- 6:22Speaker 1: under an hour.
- 6:23Speaker 2: But that's a good.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Thing, not wrong.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good thing. But just scanning through these comments,
- 6:29Speaker 2: a Rock eighty six shot out. You really appreciate you
- 6:31Speaker 2: boys for featuring me. Shout out. No free shot out
- 6:34Speaker 2: for the dads will ensure them. You guys are the goats.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Thank you for a solid future dad advice and appreciate
- 6:38Speaker 2: recognition for my wife and I was journey. Big hugs,
- 6:41Speaker 2: tiny kisses. Again, just a little little warning down at
- 6:45Speaker 2: the screen. This is not an expert father show or
- 6:48Speaker 2: just a couple of dads just talking shop.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Here we go Mark Mark Arnett sixty four to seventy seven.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Pro tip for Sureham dad of a ten year old
- 6:57Speaker 2: girl an eight year old boy. Leave the tag on
- 7:00Speaker 2: all the clothes until the day they put them on,
- 7:03Speaker 2: so when they outgrow it, before they actually wear it,
- 7:05Speaker 2: you can just go swap it out at the store
- 7:07Speaker 2: for the next size up. That is a hell of
- 7:09Speaker 2: a comment. That's actually a lot. I can crack a
- 7:12Speaker 2: cold one too. That's something you can crack a cold
- 7:15Speaker 2: one to. No free shout outs to bud Light and
- 7:17Speaker 2: on the voicemails. Like we'll get into the call in
- 7:19Speaker 2: segments later in this show. But Shirm texted me last
- 7:24Speaker 2: week or he messaged me last week saying the voicemail
- 7:27Speaker 2: thing filled up. We had to take the line off
- 7:29Speaker 2: for a moment. Yeah, because it was like three hundred voicemails,
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yes and yeah, we had to shut it down. Get
- 7:35Speaker 2: them off into a dropbox file so that way you
- 7:37Speaker 2: can reopen up the line. There's already eighty seven more
- 7:39Speaker 2: keep calling in. We're gonna I don't know if we're
- 7:42Speaker 2: ever going to figure out a way to get everybody's
- 7:44Speaker 2: voicemail heard, but we're going to try to integrate maybe
- 7:48Speaker 2: more than just one or two. So if you have
- 7:50Speaker 2: a motherfucked moment, if you have a crack a cold
- 7:53Speaker 2: one too moment, if you have a quote or a
- 7:55Speaker 2: theme or something that leaned on recently, or a lesson
- 7:58Speaker 2: that you've liked, you can share with us if you
- 8:00Speaker 2: just want to vent with us different ways where we
- 8:03Speaker 2: might fit them into our segments, other than just a
- 8:06Speaker 2: hotline moment where we only share one or two. Because
- 8:08Speaker 2: I know there's a lot of great voicemails out there.
- 8:10Speaker 2: We would love to get to all of them. It's
- 8:12Speaker 2: like a It's a great pop problem to have. It
- 8:14Speaker 2: also pained me thinking about all the voicemails coming in
- 8:17Speaker 2: because I'm like, damn, I wish we could feature you.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Wish you could feature all of them.
- 8:21Speaker 1: When you have that many. Chef, we've highlighted a bunch
- 8:26Speaker 1: is like our intern for this show. But when you
- 8:29Speaker 1: have that many voicemails, this guy's cutting up clips. We
- 8:32Speaker 1: got two other interns just fishing through offloading all of
- 8:36Speaker 1: these voicemails into dropbox. They're listening to the voicemails as
- 8:40Speaker 1: they do that so they can categorize the voicemails. Yeah,
- 8:44Speaker 1: it's truly like Santa's Workshop, and the elves are just
- 8:47Speaker 1: like doing the damn thing.
- 8:49Speaker 3: You say, elves, But we have one and it's Chef.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yeah, we have one. And he's having to also be like, hey,
- 8:56Speaker 1: if you guys could jump in here, because there's two
- 8:58Speaker 1: hundred and seventy of these things cut up, these clips.
- 9:01Speaker 2: He's on intern he's on intern brain like, hey, I'm
- 9:04Speaker 2: working on the show, working pro maybe possibly for a job.
- 9:08Speaker 2: He's trying to do everything possible to make sure this
- 9:11Speaker 2: thing's right. Chef, we appreciate you here on a Sunday night, unpaid,
- 9:15Speaker 2: here on a Sunday, unpaid, unpaid here on a Sunday night.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Shout out the boys. Chef.
- 9:20Speaker 1: We did buy him dinner, though, I will say that
- 9:21Speaker 1: we bought them down nice good. We got them dinner.
- 9:25Speaker 1: What was the other thing we're talking, Oh, voicemails. The
- 9:28Speaker 1: streets are saying, and I'll pitch this to you, I'll
- 9:30Speaker 1: pitch this to the viewers. But the streets are saying,
- 9:33Speaker 1: it could be fun every five episodes if we did
- 9:36Speaker 1: a strictly call in episode. That's just an idea. We're
- 9:41Speaker 1: not saying it's gonna be officially a thing. Maybe let
- 9:44Speaker 1: us know in the comments.
- 9:45Speaker 2: If people if we get a I won't say overwhelming,
- 9:48Speaker 2: but if we get a solid response and people just
- 9:51Speaker 2: put need a call in episode, if they just have
- 9:55Speaker 2: that in all caps, yeah we have enough of them.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I think that is where you start take into account. Hey,
- 10:01Speaker 2: this could be this could be fun.
- 10:02Speaker 1: I'm talking like fifty of those.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Yeah, fifty be a great number.
- 10:07Speaker 1: That's a number where it's like, okay, guaranteed we'll do it.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Yeah, because again, we want this show to be about
- 10:12Speaker 2: embracing fatherhood, building community, being all about the badass dads
- 10:16Speaker 2: out there just embracing the suck and wanted to be
- 10:22Speaker 2: a part of it.
- 10:23Speaker 1: And when yes, I had some great if we're going on,
- 10:27Speaker 1: just like people comments all that stuff. How to buddy
- 10:30Speaker 1: from high school who is a girl dad reach out
- 10:33Speaker 1: to me. We talked pretty regularly, but just via text,
- 10:37Speaker 1: sent a really nice text about the show that he
- 10:40Speaker 1: was loving it, but said he sent it around to
- 10:42Speaker 1: a bunch of his dad friends and one of them
- 10:44Speaker 1: hit him back like two hours later said just listen
- 10:48Speaker 1: about episodes.
- 10:49Speaker 2: He's awesome, which got me. I've had guys being like, hey,
- 10:52Speaker 2: I'm not even a dad. But it fires me up
- 10:54Speaker 2: to be one one day just from listening to the show.
- 10:57Speaker 2: So it's like there are people out there watching and
- 10:59Speaker 2: listening that aren't even in parenthood right now. And one
- 11:02Speaker 2: thing that that's also a great reminder because you said
- 11:04Speaker 2: your boy was sharing it with his dads. Whenever we
- 11:07Speaker 2: do stand up our next whenever we do stand stand
- 11:09Speaker 2: up this channel afore the dads, or whether we have
- 11:12Speaker 2: it on both YouTube and audio, no matter what it is,
- 11:15Speaker 2: for this show to get a little bit more awareness,
- 11:17Speaker 2: this will be. We need the organic growth from the
- 11:21Speaker 2: dads out there sharing it in your group chats, letting
- 11:24Speaker 2: other dads know.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I saw it.
- 11:25Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, I don't have the comment
- 11:26Speaker 2: pulled up, but when I was scanning, I saw a wife,
- 11:30Speaker 2: a gal watching and it was like, hey, I've sent
- 11:32Speaker 2: this to all my dad friends. I'm trying to get
- 11:34Speaker 2: everybody on board. She's somebody out there out there watching.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I'm sorry I can't shout you out and know your
- 11:39Speaker 2: name right now, but I saw that comment and that
- 11:41Speaker 2: fired me up. So yes, if you're watching and listening,
- 11:44Speaker 2: share around with your with your with your little dad,
- 11:46Speaker 2: gang with the dad army, with your dad group chats,
- 11:49Speaker 2: because that's that's how we're gonna grow the channel.
- 11:51Speaker 3: That's how we're gonna get this out there.
- 11:53Speaker 1: True, Hey, this is my very last The streets are saying, okay,
- 11:58Speaker 1: another rumor that's swirling, and then we can jump into
- 12:01Speaker 1: the episode. I would love for just an empty frame
- 12:05Speaker 1: to sit somewhere on this set for next month. That's
- 12:11Speaker 1: that of the.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Month and we got to pick one, and we gotta
- 12:14Speaker 2: pick one. That's a lot of pressure. That comes with
- 12:17Speaker 2: a lot of pressure.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But think about how legendary that will be for that
- 12:22Speaker 1: dad when they get selected in their Dad of the month,
- 12:25Speaker 1: they're up there for a whole month.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Yeah. The problem you run into is like, there's gonna
- 12:30Speaker 2: be I would assume a lot of dads that'll be
- 12:33Speaker 2: doing whatever. We're like, hey, this is how you get
- 12:35Speaker 2: in the running for Dead of the Month. And now
- 12:37Speaker 2: guy's been doing it month after month and they don't
- 12:39Speaker 2: get in a little bit of resentment builds up, like, boys,
- 12:42Speaker 2: are you not seeing the content that I'm pushing your
- 12:44Speaker 2: guys's way.
- 12:44Speaker 1: But then to that point, I would say, are you
- 12:47Speaker 1: doing it for the love of the game? Are you
- 12:48Speaker 1: doing it for the trophy?
- 12:50Speaker 2: Oh? Because yeah, we're There is no trophy in fatherhood.
- 12:53Speaker 2: There is no trophy in fatherhood.
- 12:55Speaker 1: And I am not a dad, so that that's some
- 12:57Speaker 1: stolen valor saying that, and I do apologize. I'm not
- 13:00Speaker 1: dad yet.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Hey, by the way, how's how's Jildie being doing.
- 13:03Speaker 1: She's doing very well, she texted me since the day's nine.
- 13:07Speaker 1: On a Sunday, she texted me a picture of her
- 13:09Speaker 1: belly in our third trimester coming any week now, yeah,
- 13:13Speaker 1: thirty seven weeks and said we're ready for dadas. And
- 13:16Speaker 1: I did not reply to that text. So thoughts and prayers.
- 13:20Speaker 1: She's good though, she's doing great. When does a maternity
- 13:24Speaker 1: leave start for her? Because I know she's in healthcare, Like,
- 13:26Speaker 1: I'm sure she's over the fact of being in the
- 13:28Speaker 1: office or she's probably getting there. Yeah, she is grinding, dude.
- 13:33Speaker 1: The people on her floor are doing a great job
- 13:35Speaker 1: of just kind of surrounding her helping her. But Jill
- 13:39Speaker 1: is just to brag about my wife really quick, very pretty,
- 13:43Speaker 1: very hard working, very determined, and so no matter how
- 13:47Speaker 1: many times they're telling her to sit down, what are
- 13:49Speaker 1: you doing, We're giving you the easiest patient on the
- 13:53Speaker 1: floor that she is moving and grooving, doing her thing,
- 13:56Speaker 1: cannot take no for an answer, So she's kind of
- 14:00Speaker 1: her own worst ending me right now?
- 14:01Speaker 2: Is she going to work until the time comes?
- 14:04Speaker 1: I mean truly, she has three more shifts left.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Her shifts are long too, right.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Oh yeah, they're like twelve hours, they're like six A
- 14:12Speaker 1: to six P. But really it's like five thirty A
- 14:15Speaker 1: to like, yeah, seven thirty p. Yeah, she's just a dude.
- 14:20Speaker 1: She's a trooper. And it sounds like Charles the same way.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I mean, she's got like multiple businesses. She's doing her
- 14:25Speaker 1: thing as well.
- 14:26Speaker 2: But I uh, I love how you're trying to deflect
- 14:30Speaker 2: it and goes go a different direction.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. And you have told me I need
- 14:35Speaker 1: to yeah, stay in it, except yeah, take the ball
- 14:39Speaker 1: and yeah yeah except yeah, my wife's a badass.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Yeah, accept the shout out.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Man, she's badass.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Should we get into should we get into? Motherfucked?
- 14:46Speaker 2: I have I have some stories that I've been holding
- 14:48Speaker 2: on my chest. There's one that I haven't even told
- 14:50Speaker 2: you about that was wild, not this past weekend, but
- 14:55Speaker 2: the weekend before. And I refrained from saying it on
- 14:58Speaker 2: Busting with the Boys because I've like, this is a
- 15:00Speaker 2: great one to live on for the dads.
- 15:03Speaker 1: That's a big moment, dude. We're getting breaking news on FTV.
- 15:06Speaker 2: This isn't a positive, This is not a this is
- 15:09Speaker 2: a fun This is a learning experience for all of
- 15:14Speaker 2: the parents out there that just a snap of the finger, dude,
- 15:18Speaker 2: and shit can go sideways quick. And this isn't like
- 15:20Speaker 2: a true motherfucked moment, more of like an internalized like
- 15:25Speaker 2: how did this happen? But I'm sitting so to paint
- 15:31Speaker 2: the scene, It's Saturday afternoon and I'm sitting on the island.
- 15:35Speaker 2: I'm sitting at the island and I'm trying to send
- 15:38Speaker 2: an email. I'm trying to send an email. So I'm
- 15:41Speaker 2: on my iPad and Charles sitting on the couch and
- 15:43Speaker 2: she's playing with Scotty. Sorry, Kitchen island, Kitchen Island. I'm
- 15:47Speaker 2: sitting at the kitchen island, Rue sitting there eating lunch.
- 15:50Speaker 2: We're trying to get her to eat lunch, some chicken
- 15:51Speaker 2: fingers before we have some quiet time and before Scotty
- 15:55Speaker 2: goes down for her nap because we hadn't eaten all
- 15:57Speaker 2: morning or she had ate a little bit. But you know, kids,
- 16:00Speaker 2: they want to snack. They want to do all these
- 16:01Speaker 2: different things, and you're trying to Hey, you're gonna eat
- 16:04Speaker 2: some lunch. You need some real food. So I'm sitting
- 16:06Speaker 2: at the kitchen with Rue. Charo is on the couch
- 16:10Speaker 2: with Scotti, playing with Scotti. I'm sending this email. Rue's
- 16:14Speaker 2: in the middle of eating and I'm telling her, you know,
- 16:16Speaker 2: you gotta eat five bites. I'm saying whatever to her,
- 16:19Speaker 2: but she's trying to talk to Charro and I don't
- 16:23Speaker 2: hear anything. Like again, I'm zoned in on my iPad,
- 16:26Speaker 2: trying to get this email out, and she talks to
- 16:30Speaker 2: Charro about doing this magic trick, and Charle's like, oh,
- 16:35Speaker 2: we can do the magic trick later. And Charles kind
- 16:38Speaker 2: of briefing me on what happened after the fact because
- 16:40Speaker 2: this bizarre moment happens and I kind of just lose
- 16:43Speaker 2: all I kind of lose all senses. Fire departments at
- 16:47Speaker 2: the house. Yes, bro, Rue chokes on a coin. She's
- 16:55Speaker 2: Charo had been Charlo had done this as Charlie knows
- 16:58Speaker 2: this magic trick to where it's either behind your ear
- 17:02Speaker 2: or in your hair, or the coin's like on your
- 17:04Speaker 2: elbow and it looks like you eat it, you eat it. Oh,
- 17:08Speaker 2: but she's done this magic trick before, over and over
- 17:11Speaker 2: in front of room because it entertains Rue. So I
- 17:14Speaker 2: guess Rue found this euro this euro coin.
- 17:18Speaker 1: It's a big coin, a little bit bigger than a quarter.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I don't know if it's bigger than a quarter,
- 17:23Speaker 2: but it's up there. Yeah, and Rue apparently finds this coin.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I didn't see the coin. And again, mind you, I'm
- 17:30Speaker 2: thinking she's just eating lunch, and I'm just trying to
- 17:32Speaker 2: get this email off, thinking she's eating, like you know,
- 17:34Speaker 2: we do this all we do this every day, and
- 17:37Speaker 2: so Ru's trying to get her attention Charles like I'll
- 17:40Speaker 2: do it for you later or not right now, I'm
- 17:41Speaker 2: playing with Scotty or something. So I guess Rue in
- 17:43Speaker 2: her mind is like, I'm going to try to do
- 17:45Speaker 2: this magic trick on my own. Who I'm sitting there
- 17:48Speaker 2: on my iPad and I hear like choking, gagging, and
- 17:52Speaker 2: I stop, and I look over at Rue and her
- 17:55Speaker 2: fingers are down her throat and she's like, oh, and buddy,
- 18:00Speaker 2: it's not even registering to me that she's choking at
- 18:02Speaker 2: the moment. I look over at her, and she puts
- 18:04Speaker 2: her fingers in her mouth amp and like gags and
- 18:08Speaker 2: I'm like, what are you doing? Thinking that she's just
- 18:10Speaker 2: like gagging herself, you know what I mean, like just
- 18:13Speaker 2: like being like, oh okay, I found something new. I'm
- 18:16Speaker 2: like choking myself from gagging myself. And I'm like, what
- 18:18Speaker 2: are you doing? And she starts like panicking like uh uh,
- 18:23Speaker 2: and I'm like are you are you choking? And Charl's like,
- 18:26Speaker 2: oh my god, she's choking. She's choking. Charlie like sprints
- 18:29Speaker 2: over to the island. I like, stand up. I'm in like,
- 18:31Speaker 2: what in the fuck is going on? Ruth's choking on
- 18:34Speaker 2: this coin? She's like, are you choking a coin? She's
- 18:36Speaker 2: like yeah, And I get behind Rue and I start
- 18:39Speaker 2: trying to do the heimlik and I'm I'm like, you know,
- 18:42Speaker 2: I'm like got it up under a sternum and I'm
- 18:43Speaker 2: like trying to go like up with it. Charle's like,
- 18:45Speaker 2: are you doing it the right way? I'm like I
- 18:47Speaker 2: think so. When I started like trying to jump with
- 18:49Speaker 2: her to get this coin out, the coin's not coming out, bro, Yes,
- 18:53Speaker 2: it's okay. It's tap being and you've seen.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Rue throat hurts listening to you tell the story, buddy.
- 18:58Speaker 2: It was so I'm smiling through it at this moment,
- 19:01Speaker 2: but this was such a fucking panic. She's choking and
- 19:06Speaker 2: Charles like, Charle's like watching it and starts like digging
- 19:08Speaker 2: down her throat. She's like, I got it, I got it,
- 19:10Speaker 2: I got it. No, he tries to get it up
- 19:12Speaker 2: and she's like, I lost it. I lost it. It's
- 19:13Speaker 2: down there and Ruth's panicking. I'm panicking and you know,
- 19:17Speaker 2: we tried. Charli gets on behind her and try to
- 19:18Speaker 2: do the homack. I'm like, what do we do? What
- 19:20Speaker 2: do we do? She's like, she's like, call nine one one,
- 19:22Speaker 2: Call nine one one. I fucking call nine one one.
- 19:26Speaker 2: I'm in a panic. You know. They're taking it slow,
- 19:27Speaker 2: like what's your name, what's your address, what's PROHNE number
- 19:30Speaker 2: in case we need to call you?
- 19:32Speaker 3: What's happening? I'm like, my three year old is choking.
- 19:34Speaker 1: She's still currently choking on this coin. Yeah.
- 19:36Speaker 2: We're trying to get out of her and it's not
- 19:37Speaker 2: coming out.
- 19:38Speaker 1: And are they coaching you?
- 19:41Speaker 2: Godly, It's hard to remember because it was such a
- 19:44Speaker 2: moment of like panic and you don't know what's going on,
- 19:49Speaker 2: Charles just jumps into like superhero mode, like yelling all
- 19:52Speaker 2: these coaching directions to do it. I'm thinking, I'm doing
- 19:55Speaker 2: the Heimlit correctly because I took the CPR class back
- 19:57Speaker 2: when I was a lifeguard back in high school. Yeah,
- 20:00Speaker 2: and I'm just talking to I'm talking to whoever nine
- 20:04Speaker 2: one one on the phone and saying what's going on.
- 20:06Speaker 2: They're like, we're sending somebody over to you. As they're
- 20:08Speaker 2: sending somebody over to me. That call lasted three minutes.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Probably around the two minute mark, Charo is down.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Her throat again.
- 20:13Speaker 2: She's like, I got it, I got it, and then
- 20:15Speaker 2: pulls it out, gets the coin out. As they're driving
- 20:19Speaker 2: over to the house and I'm like, coins out. She's fine.
- 20:22Speaker 2: She's like is she breathing? And I walk over to
- 20:24Speaker 2: the room, I'm like, hey, you know, I'm asking her
- 20:26Speaker 2: questions and stuff. She seems like she's gonna be okay.
- 20:28Speaker 2: She's just in a panic and she's crying. There's blood
- 20:31Speaker 2: everywhere because Charle probably scraped her throat or scraped something
- 20:35Speaker 2: inside of her mouth. Because there's blood on my there's
- 20:37Speaker 2: blood on my shirt, there's blood on the counter. Yes, bro, Yes,
- 20:43Speaker 2: I've been holding that on me for over a Yes,
- 20:48Speaker 2: And that was one of those moments where it's like
- 20:50Speaker 2: you're internally motherfucking yourself because I was just trying to
- 20:53Speaker 2: do something on the iPad and next thing you know,
- 20:55Speaker 2: she's gagging and choking.
- 20:57Speaker 3: And it happened. It happened quick, you know what I mean.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Yes, if you turn away for one second, you have
- 21:03Speaker 2: food set up, you're trying to get something off on
- 21:05Speaker 2: the iPad and she's gagging herself and the next thing you know,
- 21:08Speaker 2: she's choking on a coin and fire department ambulance comes over,
- 21:12Speaker 2: they're running her vitals, they're doing all this stuff. She
- 21:15Speaker 2: checks out, Fine, she's all good, but she was choking
- 21:20Speaker 2: on a fucking coin. Bro from winning to mimic of
- 21:25Speaker 2: magic trick? Can we.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Really quick before we jump into this, Can we crack
- 21:35Speaker 1: a cold one to Chario saving today?
- 21:38Speaker 2: Oh buddy, yeah we can, because Chrall went into superhero mode. Yeah.
- 21:45Speaker 2: I was in it. I was in just panic. Like
- 21:47Speaker 2: I again, I'm like trying to do the Heimlich. I
- 21:49Speaker 2: think I'm doing it right, but nothing, your mind is
- 21:52Speaker 2: going everywhere. That was so long ago. When you do
- 21:54Speaker 2: the CPR class that you don't know if you're doing
- 21:55Speaker 2: it correctly.
- 21:58Speaker 1: And bro the fact that she had the wherewithal to
- 22:02Speaker 1: just be like, I'm digging this shit out.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, get.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I'm getting it because I'm seeing it happen and my
- 22:08Speaker 2: eyes are wide open again. I was just like a
- 22:10Speaker 2: kid sitting on the fucking sideline thinking like I don't know,
- 22:15Speaker 2: you're thinking your kid could die right there. Because then
- 22:19Speaker 2: when the fire department everybody comes over and they're kind
- 22:20Speaker 2: of breaking it down. They're like, hey, if by any
- 22:23Speaker 2: chance this were to happen ever again and she goes unconscious,
- 22:28Speaker 2: all you have to do is just hit like the
- 22:30Speaker 2: I think it was like thirty CPR, Yeah, CPR compressions presses,
- 22:36Speaker 2: whatever it is, give her some marriages to keep oxygen
- 22:38Speaker 2: going to her brain. But they're like, if she was unconscious, like,
- 22:41Speaker 2: we would have still been able. We would have still
- 22:43Speaker 2: been able to save her. With it being a coin,
- 22:45Speaker 2: we would have still been able to save her even
- 22:47Speaker 2: if she's unconscious. Yeah, So just to put your mind
- 22:49Speaker 2: at ease, because you're thinking, if they don't get.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Here before her eyes closed, before her.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Eyes closed, like she would die. That's what's happening. That's
- 22:57Speaker 2: what I'm thinking of my mind. I'm assuming Charles and
- 23:00Speaker 2: the same exact thing.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Also, we are not experts and do not take any
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yeah this is not yeah yeah yeah, but while I
- 23:06Speaker 1: asked this question, this is my personal question too.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Will.
- 23:09Speaker 1: This is not for the listeners to take in as advice.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Aren't you supposed to do like the two finger the
- 23:16Speaker 1: three finger thing with toddlers and not like the full
- 23:19Speaker 1: hand compression.
- 23:21Speaker 3: So Chef Jack is saying, yes, take his advice.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Yeah, you can take no.
- 23:27Speaker 2: I think with like rue her being three, you would
- 23:29Speaker 2: still go like on on the front. It feels like, uh,
- 23:32Speaker 2: it feels scotty. You'd be flipping her back and forth,
- 23:35Speaker 2: patting on the back and patting on the front. Yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 2: For the compressions, I think, yeah, you do like fingers
- 23:46Speaker 2: or whatever. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah dude, that was so
- 23:53Speaker 2: long ago, but I was trying to I was trying
- 23:55Speaker 2: to like remember, like as I'm just like doing the
- 23:57Speaker 2: hoimelock and everything else.
- 23:58Speaker 1: But it was ar will Okay. Also that brings that
- 24:03Speaker 1: reminds me and I'm gonna go buy one.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Go take a CPR class.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Hey one, go take a CPR class. You can get
- 24:08Speaker 1: them for free. At your local county hospital. Don't quote
- 24:12Speaker 1: me on that, but do I'm almost positive that's a thing.
- 24:16Speaker 1: If Chef Jack can google that, I'm almost positive that's
- 24:19Speaker 1: a thing. Secondly, these choking like kid rescuer things, it's
- 24:28Speaker 1: those little like it's like a mask and you do
- 24:33Speaker 1: the suction is really bad radio, but yeah, you put
- 24:36Speaker 1: it on like it's a mask and it has this
- 24:38Speaker 1: little almost like a ball pumper thing on the bottom.
- 24:44Speaker 1: And I've been seeing videos on the internet that make
- 24:47Speaker 1: me want to go buy that thing tomorrow. I know
- 24:49Speaker 1: you have a kid in the world.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Yeah, that would be smart to do.
- 24:52Speaker 1: But oh my god, buddy, it was terrifying. It was
- 24:57Speaker 1: terrifying round of.
- 24:59Speaker 2: The yeah, yeah, dude. She flew into action, bro, And
- 25:08Speaker 2: I'm sitting there like, how did this happen so quick?
- 25:13Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Because I was the one
- 25:14Speaker 2: like sitting by her. Oh yeah, And again I looked
- 25:17Speaker 2: over like I heard the I heard the choke in
- 25:19Speaker 2: the gag and I look over at her and then
- 25:21Speaker 2: she's looking at me and she like does it again?
- 25:22Speaker 2: And I'm like, what are you doing? And she just
- 25:25Speaker 2: starts kind of panicking, and I'm like, are you all right?
- 25:27Speaker 2: And Charles like, oh my god, she's choking. She's choking.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Sprints over. I'm like, she's choking. She's like she's got
- 25:31Speaker 2: a coin. I'm just thinking a fucking coin. I'm just thinking,
- 25:35Speaker 2: what in the hell is happening again, immediately started doing
- 25:39Speaker 2: the Heimlich Charles like idly standing by, just like watch out.
- 25:44Speaker 2: She's like watch out, move you call.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Nine one one. She starts fucking trying to dig down.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Dude. It was.
- 25:49Speaker 3: It was terrifying. Dude, Thank god I.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Do have a nurse for a wife.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna pop quizzer when I get home and
- 25:57Speaker 1: not tell her this part of the story first. I'd
- 25:59Speaker 1: be like, theoretically, yeah, like Scarlet's cheering on it. You know,
- 26:03Speaker 1: she gets a coin down there. Where are we doing
- 26:05Speaker 1: tess her? Yeah, but hopefully.
- 26:08Speaker 2: You heimelick until you would Basically what they were kind
- 26:11Speaker 2: of telling us is you would you would heim lick
- 26:13Speaker 2: and try to get it out up until they go unconscious.
- 26:16Speaker 2: When they go unconscious again, you can't like don't panic,
- 26:20Speaker 2: and you sit there and do the compressions. You would
- 26:22Speaker 2: hit thirty compressions, try to blow get auction to their brain.
- 26:26Speaker 2: You're just trying to keep oxygen going until help gets there. Yeah,
- 26:29Speaker 2: because they were there within like within five minutes from
- 26:33Speaker 2: the call. Damn, we were on the phone. She's like,
- 26:36Speaker 2: I got somebody headed your way. And even when I
- 26:37Speaker 2: was like, hey, the coin's out, I think she's all good,
- 26:39Speaker 2: they're already on their way. So whenever they get there,
- 26:41Speaker 2: like they'll choke bottles and make sure everything's clear. And
- 26:43Speaker 2: they were saying, it's it's honestly, it's better, like it's
- 26:46Speaker 2: a good thing that it was that it was a
- 26:49Speaker 2: coin and not food, because food can start breaking down
- 26:51Speaker 2: and actually block her throat or where she was breathing.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Because since root didn't pass out, they were under the
- 26:56Speaker 2: impression that it probably wasn't fully blocking her airways.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Well, and it's so big it probably got caught up
- 27:03Speaker 1: more like in her.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like it was like I'm not sure
- 27:08Speaker 2: it was like up here, and they're like if it
- 27:09Speaker 2: would have got there, like you know, showing her if
- 27:11Speaker 2: it would have got down to here. You know, they
- 27:13Speaker 2: were just kind of talking to her to have conversation
- 27:15Speaker 2: with her. She was just like trum, Yeah, I slept.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I mean, you're you're beating yourself up. Just as a parent,
- 27:29Speaker 2: because you take your eyes off of it for a
- 27:33Speaker 2: minute and something can go sideways like that, and then
- 27:36Speaker 2: you know, Charles was Charle was struggling for a while afterwards,
- 27:42Speaker 2: and you know, I'm like, you know, maybe we don't
- 27:44Speaker 2: teach the magic trick to Scotti.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Did she laugh?
- 27:49Speaker 2: She yeah, she knew I was joking, but she's like, yeah,
- 27:52Speaker 2: like you're just not you know, Charle's not thinking she
- 27:57Speaker 2: was gonna do something like that, No, because the last
- 28:01Speaker 2: time I saw charge do that magic trick was a
- 28:03Speaker 2: long time ago, and I guess rue she saw the
- 28:06Speaker 2: coin and it probably just reminded her of the magic trick.
- 28:09Speaker 2: She's like, look, mom, I think like rou was showing her, like,
- 28:12Speaker 2: hey mama, do the matrics. She's like, I'm playing with Scotty.
- 28:14Speaker 2: I'll do the magic trick with here with you in
- 28:16Speaker 2: a little bit. And then she just got a wild
- 28:18Speaker 2: hair and was like, yeah, I'm gonna try this magic trick. Ude.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Thank god she did that, right. I mean, obviously it
- 28:25Speaker 1: would have been better if it hadn't happened, but thank
- 28:27Speaker 1: god she did it in front of you guys. Thank
- 28:29Speaker 1: god y'all were there.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Dude.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, doubt, no doubt, I very randomly. This
- 28:36Speaker 1: is just a dad tip for people out there. Uh,
- 28:40Speaker 1: we were at a family like easter hunt. Somebody had
- 28:45Speaker 1: a green pool cover. I was young enough to think
- 28:48Speaker 1: that the pool cover was like a putting green because
- 28:50Speaker 1: it kind of looked like AstroTurf or whatever. Walked out
- 28:53Speaker 1: on it and went underneath, uh the pool cover. My
- 28:59Speaker 1: cousin ended up getting help almost drowned. But it was
- 29:03Speaker 1: like one of those things where like everybody's easter hunting,
- 29:05Speaker 1: like Easter egg hunting, and then all of a sudden
- 29:07Speaker 1: they look up and you know, my dad's seeing somebody
- 29:10Speaker 1: trying to fish me out. It's crazy, dude, it can
- 29:13Speaker 1: just happen.
- 29:14Speaker 3: It happens.
- 29:15Speaker 2: And were at our We were at a friends a
- 29:17Speaker 2: few weeks ago and we were in the pool in
- 29:20Speaker 2: the backyard and Rue was playing on a couple of
- 29:23Speaker 2: the noodles And can't like fully swim yet. But she
- 29:26Speaker 2: can do like a couple of things, you know what
- 29:27Speaker 2: I mean. She can go underwater, she can swim like
- 29:28Speaker 2: a couple of strokes or something like that, but she
- 29:30Speaker 2: can't handle herself by herself with water. But I'm in
- 29:32Speaker 2: the water with all I'm in the water with her
- 29:34Speaker 2: and our friends' kids. Yeah, and one came outside and
- 29:40Speaker 2: was wearing an outfit and I was complimenting her outfit,
- 29:42Speaker 2: and you know, I'm like playing with Rue, but Rue
- 29:44Speaker 2: wanted to play on this noodle.
- 29:45Speaker 3: She's like, no, Dad, let go, and.
- 29:47Speaker 2: So I'm like, let go, and she kind of does
- 29:49Speaker 2: a thing where she like, let's go for a end,
- 29:50Speaker 2: goes underwater and then comes back up on the noodle. Yeah,
- 29:52Speaker 2: we've been we were playing for we were playing for
- 29:54Speaker 2: a long time. There's probably been forty minutes at this point.
- 29:57Speaker 2: And then the other one, the sibling, comes out and
- 30:00Speaker 2: wants to show me his outfit because I'm complimenting his sister. Oh,
- 30:04Speaker 2: well look at this, and I'm like, look over my
- 30:06Speaker 2: Oh that's awesome, buddy, and dude. I turn around and
- 30:09Speaker 2: Srew was like struggling in the water for a moment.
- 30:12Speaker 3: I pick her.
- 30:12Speaker 2: I just pick her up. It wasn't like anything close
- 30:14Speaker 2: to her drowning or nothing like that, but just another
- 30:17Speaker 2: subtle reminder that you turn your head for like one
- 30:20Speaker 2: minute and things could be things could be crazy. Nobody
- 30:25Speaker 2: saw either, Like I picked her up and she was
- 30:27Speaker 2: like crying for a second, I'm like, hey, sweetheart, like,
- 30:29Speaker 2: this is why you know you need to use the noodle,
- 30:32Speaker 2: this is why you need to be close to the side,
- 30:33Speaker 2: because she was like, you know, she's like trying to
- 30:35Speaker 2: get she's like trying to do things more for herself.
- 30:38Speaker 2: She's trying to like prove to herself that she can
- 30:40Speaker 2: do more without help and things like that. Yeah, and
- 30:43Speaker 2: uh but yeah, that was just another like just quick
- 30:45Speaker 2: reminder that you can turn your head for a second
- 30:48Speaker 2: and something could just go south. It's scary, dude, It's nuts.
- 30:51Speaker 1: See what in the world while you were telling that. Uh,
- 30:55Speaker 1: my throat felt terrible the entire time you were telling
- 30:59Speaker 1: that story, and I felt like I had something in
- 31:01Speaker 1: my throat. That was the worst story I've heard in
- 31:03Speaker 1: a while.
- 31:04Speaker 2: When the first time when Charles said she had it,
- 31:06Speaker 2: I got it.
- 31:07Speaker 3: I got it.
- 31:07Speaker 2: I got it. And then she's like, I lost it.
- 31:09Speaker 2: I lost it. What's going on?
- 31:13Speaker 1: Yeah, thirty minutes, Oh got you?
- 31:14Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 31:15Speaker 3: Oh yeah, well one second and.
- 31:20Speaker 2: I lost I lost it. Like in my brain, I'm thinking,
- 31:23Speaker 2: holy fuck, how are we going to get out of this?
- 31:26Speaker 2: Cause again I'm not thinking about like when the fire
- 31:28Speaker 2: they were over at the house, being like, oh, she
- 31:31Speaker 2: would have we would have still got it out and
- 31:32Speaker 2: you guys would have been fine. I'm thinking that was
- 31:34Speaker 2: like a life or death moment getting that out before
- 31:37Speaker 2: the ambulance.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Yeah, what, So what's your mother?
- 31:44Speaker 1: So what's my mother? Well, I'm glad you asked, well,
- 31:47Speaker 1: my motherfucked?
- 31:48Speaker 2: Is that?
- 31:49Speaker 1: My wife said? I need to talk with you guys
- 31:51Speaker 1: more about college football and less with her.
- 31:54Speaker 3: She not, she not, she's not a ball fan.
- 31:57Speaker 1: She's a ball fan.
- 31:58Speaker 2: But is she a ball fan?
- 32:01Speaker 1: But when, apparently, when she's hungry in the morning, when.
- 32:04Speaker 2: She's third trimester hungry in the morning, and you're bitching
- 32:06Speaker 2: about Baylor, she don't want to hear it.
- 32:10Speaker 1: When I'm trying to tell her, Hey, here's the deal.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Like a lot of people are kind of sleeping on Baylor.
- 32:14Speaker 1: They could have a really good season, though, Honey. They're
- 32:16Speaker 1: eight and four last year.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Sweetheart.
- 32:18Speaker 3: When you look at Baylor's schedule, what do you see?
- 32:21Speaker 1: And tell me really quick, tell me. Are you more
- 32:24Speaker 1: worried about Auburn? Are you more worried about SMU? And
- 32:27Speaker 1: I get it, SMU is a ACC school, but they
- 32:29Speaker 1: were a playoff team last year.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Honey, Sherman, get your head out the fucking clouds. We're
- 32:33Speaker 2: about to have a baby here in two weeks, and
- 32:35Speaker 2: you're talking about Baylor football.
- 32:37Speaker 1: We're going to the game. I already told you we're going.
- 32:40Speaker 1: I would go to the game with you.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Go talk to your buddies at work.
- 32:44Speaker 1: No, But she quite literally was like, do you realize
- 32:47Speaker 1: where you work? Because I told her. I was like, honey,
- 32:50Speaker 1: I just like, I like talking about this stuff. She goes, well,
- 32:53Speaker 1: I want to talk about us. I want to talk
- 32:54Speaker 1: about our daughter that's about to be here. Maybe you
- 32:57Speaker 1: can talk about that at work where you guys talk
- 32:59Speaker 1: about sports and stuff. I was like, you know what, God,
- 33:03Speaker 1: motherfucked in that situation. But she's right, I need to
- 33:07Speaker 1: talk about that stuff.
- 33:08Speaker 2: You know. But is she You're just trying to include her.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I am, here's an interest in my life. She chefs
- 33:15Speaker 2: back to She's.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Like, sure, yeah, he said.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Women want there are men to talk more, and when
- 33:22Speaker 2: they want to talk about their interest, that being football,
- 33:26Speaker 2: they're trying to be vulnerable and share something with you.
- 33:28Speaker 1: This is a moment where I will get going, dude,
- 33:33Speaker 1: like I'm talking, I'm not even I'm probably missing turns
- 33:36Speaker 1: left and right on the way to Velvet Taco where
- 33:38Speaker 1: she wanted to have breakfast. They don't have breakfast tacos.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I didn't complain. I took her to Velvet Taco. And
- 33:43Speaker 1: I'm probably missing turns left and right. I'm talking about Baylor,
- 33:47Speaker 1: and I get it. It's okay. I'm not upset about it,
- 33:50Speaker 1: but uh, it does hurt because when she's talking about
- 33:53Speaker 1: her shows or she's talking about her stuff, I've been listening.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Yeah, buddy, this is the space, this is the show
- 33:59Speaker 2: to do it all because for you to be as
- 34:01Speaker 2: much of a college football fan or a football fan
- 34:04Speaker 2: in general as I know you to be, and you
- 34:07Speaker 2: just got to the point where you were like you said,
- 34:09Speaker 2: she's right, and it's like, hang on a second. You
- 34:12Speaker 2: gotta love yourself, bro.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I don't even think I was talking about Baylor. Was
- 34:15Speaker 1: the best part. I don't even know what I was
- 34:18Speaker 1: talking about. But I wasn't even talking about Baylor.
- 34:21Speaker 2: You're trying to share an interest with your wife.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I was just I was just sharing something along
- 34:26Speaker 1: the lines of I wish I could remember, but I
- 34:29Speaker 1: think I was talking about some SEC team and I
- 34:32Speaker 1: was talking about their schedule and like, yeah, it's kind
- 34:35Speaker 1: of crazy. Game days always usually following Bama, and you know,
- 34:38Speaker 1: I'm going like a million miles an hour, and she's
- 34:41Speaker 1: just like, this is the last thing I want to
- 34:43Speaker 1: talk about right now. I'm like, honey, I get that,
- 34:46Speaker 1: but like you put on.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Yeah, how many things is she talking about that you
- 34:50Speaker 2: don't want to hear about? Yeah?
- 34:51Speaker 1: And when you eat it, I eat it. When you
- 34:54Speaker 1: put on the Damilio Show, the Riality TV Fallen Charlie
- 34:58Speaker 1: d'milio and her sister, I sit there, Yeah, for those
- 35:02Speaker 1: forty five minutes, sweetheart.
- 35:04Speaker 2: I do my best to create space. When you want
- 35:06Speaker 2: to tell me back about this Onyx and Storm book
- 35:09Speaker 2: that you're reading, I'm trying to buy in. It's hard.
- 35:13Speaker 2: But ladies, let me tell you. When your man talks
- 35:15Speaker 2: to you about college football and the upcoming season and
- 35:19Speaker 2: you just tell him, hey, go talk to your boys
- 35:21Speaker 2: about this at work, you're just telling us you don't
- 35:23Speaker 2: matter right now.
- 35:25Speaker 1: And you know what the worst part is, because she
- 35:27Speaker 1: is a longhorn. I guarantee you if I've been talking
- 35:30Speaker 1: about arch Man now, honey, you know that you know
- 35:33Speaker 1: they're saying this, and that they're saying sarks really only
- 35:36Speaker 1: like a player's coach. If he doesn't have the squad,
- 35:38Speaker 1: he can't really get a team there. He's not a
- 35:40Speaker 1: numbers guy. Yeah, and she would listen and eat that
- 35:44Speaker 1: up all day if I was talking about the Longhorns.
- 35:46Speaker 1: If I wasn't talking about her longhorns, that's pretty selfish. Yeah,
- 35:50Speaker 1: cut that part out, cut that part out. But yeah,
- 35:56Speaker 1: that's my that's my motherfucked it. It doesn't even touch
- 36:00Speaker 1: uh will's I feel like yours is motherfucked crack a
- 36:04Speaker 1: cold one and potentially dad hack. Don't take us, you know,
- 36:09Speaker 1: verbatim on that.
- 36:10Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean it's all it's all of the
- 36:13Speaker 2: things in one survival kit.
- 36:15Speaker 1: I'm looking it up at.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Yeah, they like that. The dad hack again for two
- 36:18Speaker 2: weeks in a row, coming more so from my wife,
- 36:20Speaker 2: jumping action and try to dig that fucking coin out.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Of their throat.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Get in there that it doesn't matter.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Hey, if you see blood.
- 36:27Speaker 1: You just the eyes closed. It's okay, all right, fine,
- 36:31Speaker 1: department's gonna get there.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Fine. Oh buddy, Yeah that.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Was dude, you've had it. That was two weeks.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Yeah, we haven't even talked about the New York story.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Right now, we'll get there. Matter of fact, let's let's

- 38:38Speaker 2: My crecit cald one this week is going to go
- 38:40Speaker 2: to finding your way back to your teammate. I was
- 38:43Speaker 2: wondering if I would tell this story on this show.
- 38:46Speaker 2: I kind of vented to the boys about it before
- 38:49Speaker 2: the show started. But finding your way back to your
- 38:52Speaker 2: teammate in my in this circumstance, In this situation, it's
- 38:55Speaker 2: my teammate is my wife. We we were in New
- 38:58Speaker 2: York over the weekend. We had a lot of great moments,
- 39:01Speaker 2: but we had a couple of down moments. In one
- 39:03Speaker 2: of those down moments is we were at each other's
- 39:05Speaker 2: throat at like two in the morning on Saturday. I'll
- 39:10Speaker 2: preface this, sweetheart, you were right, you were right.
- 39:14Speaker 3: I was wrong.
- 39:16Speaker 1: This sounds like a motherfucked as well.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, but you got to crack a
- 39:20Speaker 2: cold one too, because we made we found our way.
- 39:22Speaker 2: We both apologized to each other.
- 39:24Speaker 1: There we go.
- 39:26Speaker 2: But we had a great night on Saturday where we
- 39:28Speaker 2: we got a sitter. We were out in New York.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Charo had a work thing earlier in the week and
- 39:33Speaker 2: then parlayed into visiting a friend, a really good friend
- 39:35Speaker 2: of hers in New York, and we were hanging out
- 39:38Speaker 2: with that couple. They have two little ones of their own,
- 39:41Speaker 2: like eight years old and five years old, so the
- 39:44Speaker 2: five year old was close with Rue. They were great
- 39:46Speaker 2: to Rue. They were great with the kids. But on Saturday,
- 39:49Speaker 2: we've been doing all the family stuff to where you know,
- 39:52Speaker 2: we're all with each other. We're going to dinner, we're
- 39:53Speaker 2: doing breakfast. Hey, let's go to the pool, let's do
- 39:55Speaker 2: this and that. But on Saturday, it was just it
- 39:57Speaker 2: was just the adults. We got a sitter, We went out,
- 40:00Speaker 2: we had dinner. There was a little double date. We
- 40:02Speaker 2: had dinner up on a rooftop somewhere, and then afterwards,
- 40:05Speaker 2: at ten forty five, we went to this speakeasy magic show.
- 40:09Speaker 2: It's a really cool setup. You go in, you kind
- 40:11Speaker 2: of in this waiting area, like inside of this bar.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Guy comes up and grabs you.
- 40:15Speaker 1: He was like, was there a secret cut?
- 40:18Speaker 2: Uh? Yeah, but the person who booked it had to
- 40:20Speaker 2: do all the secret codes stuff, gotcha Okay, So he
- 40:23Speaker 2: grabs sham, takes him over. Hey, you guys are going
- 40:24Speaker 2: to the other side. Tell him George sent you go
- 40:27Speaker 2: to the other side. It's the cleaners, to where the
- 40:29Speaker 2: cleaners is closed. And you walk in and you know,
- 40:34Speaker 2: you got the desk sitting up front. You got all
- 40:35Speaker 2: these clothes hanging from like dry cleaning and everything else.
- 40:38Speaker 2: You say, what the code is, Hey, George sent us,
- 40:40Speaker 2: and you take your little coupon. You walk behind. There's
- 40:43Speaker 2: like a door behind all the closes. You're like walking
- 40:45Speaker 2: through the close and everything else. There's a secret little door.
- 40:47Speaker 2: You entered the secret door, and then you're back in
- 40:48Speaker 2: this bar area with a little stage and it was
- 40:51Speaker 2: a magic show. We had a great time at the
- 40:53Speaker 2: magic show, a lot of different magicians. You know, they
- 40:56Speaker 2: have about ten minutes at each table and they get
- 40:59Speaker 2: up and they do different they do different sets, they
- 41:01Speaker 2: do different things.
- 41:03Speaker 3: It was a great night.
- 41:04Speaker 2: During that night again double date, we had a sitter
- 41:09Speaker 2: for all four kids at my wife's friend's apartment. So
- 41:14Speaker 2: Ruin Scott Yeah, ru and Scottie are essentially having a
- 41:18Speaker 2: little sleepover at at Susan's. Okay, so they're at Susan's.
- 41:25Speaker 2: They have a little movie night, they watch Frozen, they
- 41:27Speaker 2: go down to sleep. Rue's having a little sleeping bag sleepover.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Scotty's down for the count around seven, seven thirty. She's
- 41:33Speaker 2: the easy one to put down. And Rue and and Uh.
- 41:37Speaker 2: The two friends, the eight year old and the five
- 41:39Speaker 2: year old, they do a little sleepover together in one
- 41:43Speaker 2: of their bedrooms. And throughout that night they're alluding to, hey,
- 41:47Speaker 2: the kids seem like they're having a great time. They
- 41:49Speaker 2: can just stay all night at our house. And Charles's
- 41:51Speaker 2: kind of pushing back, Oh, we can go back and
- 41:53Speaker 2: we can get them, And in my mind bubbling up
- 41:56Speaker 2: is like, hey, if they're offering, and take them up
- 42:00Speaker 2: on this offer, and we could just go back to
- 42:02Speaker 2: our hotel room or four hundred foot square foot hotel room.
- 42:05Speaker 2: We could have the bed to ourselves, we could sleep
- 42:08Speaker 2: and we don't have to worry about the kids in.
- 42:10Speaker 1: That in that moment, are you doing any hints towards
- 42:13Speaker 1: Jara of kind of like a hey, no.
- 42:16Speaker 2: I think I nudge her one time, like, hey, it'd
- 42:17Speaker 2: be kind of nice, kind of nice. She's like, hey, sweetheart,
- 42:21Speaker 2: there are kids. I feel you, I feel you, but.
- 42:23Speaker 1: Would be nice.
- 42:25Speaker 2: And at this point, it's like one one thirty in
- 42:28Speaker 2: the morning, and I am absolutely beat. Everybody's kinda beat,
- 42:32Speaker 2: and we're finishing out this magic show. And again they're
- 42:36Speaker 2: doubling down, doubling down on. Hey, they're already asleep. They
- 42:41Speaker 2: can just sleep at our they can just sleep at
- 42:43Speaker 2: the apartment, and they you know, we'll just we'll handle
- 42:45Speaker 2: them in the morning.
- 42:46Speaker 3: And I'm thinking it.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Could be kind of nice, sweetheart, come on, she doesn't
- 42:51Speaker 2: want to do it. They they're tripling down.
- 42:53Speaker 1: I was just about to say, don't tell me they
- 42:55Speaker 1: triple down, tripled Then then it's like you you may
- 42:58Speaker 1: even be kind of rude. Then it's like, what they
- 43:01Speaker 1: don't want their kid, We're not good enough.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and then yeah. Then he gets to the
- 43:07Speaker 2: point where I'm like, we're uber and back, and I'm
- 43:09Speaker 2: thinking to myself, why aren't we getting an uber back
- 43:11Speaker 2: to the hotel like they've offered us, Like, why not
- 43:16Speaker 2: take them up on this offer, knowing that my man
- 43:18Speaker 2: Chris on the other side is probably like, he's probably
- 43:21Speaker 2: i'd be nice. You guys can get your kids. You know,
- 43:25Speaker 2: he's not saying nothing, No, he's like, yeah, he'll be fine,
- 43:28Speaker 2: dam too.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Or I know my man Chris, He's like, yeah, you guys.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Get your kids. Get you And I'm thinking, hey, sweet,
- 43:34Speaker 2: let's fucking just go back to the hotel room. So
- 43:37Speaker 2: we go back, We wake them up. It's two in
- 43:39Speaker 2: the morning, we wake up, we wake up Scottie, you know,
- 43:42Speaker 2: Charles getting Scottie and the carrier.
- 43:45Speaker 3: I'm getting rue.
- 43:47Speaker 2: We get an uber to go back to the hotel,
- 43:49Speaker 2: roosting a tantrum the entire time back to hotel. Obviously
- 43:52Speaker 2: she's tired, Yeah, all the different things, right, And I'm
- 43:55Speaker 2: just sitting there, I'm exhausted, and I'm starting to get
- 43:58Speaker 2: in like a bad mood for the fact that we
- 44:00Speaker 2: ended up taking the kids back to the hotel. And
- 44:02Speaker 2: we're pushing them down. We're going down the hall. We
- 44:04Speaker 2: got the stroller going down the hall. And Troll makes
- 44:07Speaker 2: a comment, it seems like you're it seems like you're
- 44:10Speaker 2: kind of mad, kind of mad at me right now,
- 44:12Speaker 2: because I think roommate the comment like that day you frustrated.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Oh no, that is not frustrated, that is just tired.
- 44:18Speaker 2: And charl goes, it feels like you're kind of mad
- 44:20Speaker 2: at me right now. And I'm like, we could have
- 44:22Speaker 2: left the kids at the apartment and came back to
- 44:25Speaker 2: the hotel. This is basically all I said. Oh so
- 44:28Speaker 2: you are mad at me. I'm just saying it would
- 44:29Speaker 2: have been nice if we could have just came back
- 44:31Speaker 2: to the hotel room and got some sleep with each other.
- 44:34Speaker 2: And so I'm, you know, doing this thing when when
- 44:38Speaker 2: I get upset, I'm very much like an internal an
- 44:41Speaker 2: internal being. A lot of things fester inside. I'm more
- 44:43Speaker 2: so suppressed. I suppress. I know my therapist would say, hey,
- 44:46Speaker 2: you need to talk about this stuff. I'm a guy
- 44:47Speaker 2: that suppresses my emotions when when.
- 44:49Speaker 1: I've traveled with you for travel shoots, that happens also
- 44:54Speaker 1: when you get tired. It seems like yeah, so it
- 44:57Speaker 1: was a little double down.
- 44:59Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, we were wipe.
- 45:01Speaker 2: We were exhausted because you're run around, you're doing some
- 45:02Speaker 2: with the kids all day, and nap time there wasn't
- 45:05Speaker 2: really a whole much of a nap time because again
- 45:07Speaker 2: you're just on the move, you're in a different city. Yes,
- 45:09Speaker 2: And then when we're going back to our hotel room,
- 45:11Speaker 2: like our hotel room is insanely small, so we're all
- 45:14Speaker 2: four on the bed, Scotty's playing. You're trying to get
- 45:17Speaker 2: her down, but she doesn't really want to go down,
- 45:18Speaker 2: so it's like, all right, we're just gonna eat this
- 45:20Speaker 2: nap time. So everyone's essentially just exhausted. And because I
- 45:25Speaker 2: was on an earth, now that was a different that
- 45:27Speaker 2: was a different day. All these days run together. But
- 45:30Speaker 2: you're sleeping in you're sleeping in the bed with your toddler.
- 45:33Speaker 2: We don't do we don't normally do that. So it
- 45:35Speaker 2: was like, you know, she's adjusting all night long. You're
- 45:37Speaker 2: waking up like about eight times because her foot is
- 45:39Speaker 2: like on your face and you're like, hey, sweetheart, you got.
- 45:41Speaker 1: To move over.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Go bother mom or something apparently like between them and pillow. Yeah,
- 45:45Speaker 2: she's in between us. But we were just at that
- 45:48Speaker 2: part of the night to where there was not a
- 45:51Speaker 2: lot of like, uh, diplomatic resolution. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you
- 45:55Speaker 2: know what I mean. Yeah, and uh, where we said
- 45:58Speaker 2: a few things back and forth to each each other.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Okay that I'm not proud of. I know she's not
- 46:03Speaker 2: proud of. I escalated the situation because I more so
- 46:06Speaker 2: wanted to suppress a maternalize and say no, I don't
- 46:09Speaker 2: want to talk about this shit. I want to go
- 46:11Speaker 2: to bed and I want to sleep on it. It's like, oh,
- 46:13Speaker 2: so you don't want to get you don't want to
- 46:14Speaker 2: get this figured out and talk about it tonight. No,
- 46:16Speaker 2: I don't want to talk about it tonight. I want
- 46:18Speaker 2: to go to sleep. I want to put the kid down.
- 46:19Speaker 2: I want to go to sleep. Well, she's like, well,
- 46:22Speaker 2: Ru's already asleep, but can't you just help me with Scotty.
- 46:24Speaker 2: I still got to do my face routine and brush
- 46:26Speaker 2: my teeth and everything else. And I told her, I said,
- 46:28Speaker 2: I told you that when we got to the apartment
- 46:31Speaker 2: that I had Ru, meaning you have Scotti. So even
- 46:35Speaker 2: though Ruth's asleep, that's a win for me. You got
- 46:37Speaker 2: to put Scottie down. That was the deal. So, oh,
- 46:43Speaker 2: so you're not going to be my teammate. You can't
- 46:46Speaker 2: have some perspective on how I've been grinding with the
- 46:49Speaker 2: kiddos all week long out here in New York while
- 46:51Speaker 2: you were in Chicago. I'm like, oh, so now you
- 46:53Speaker 2: want to bring up the scoreboard. Now you want to
- 46:55Speaker 2: scoreboard me to death? Make me feel guilty. I wish
- 46:58Speaker 2: I could have been out here with you.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Are you in your pjs while you're having this?
- 47:04Speaker 2: Just in my short so yeah, I guess I'm in
- 47:06Speaker 2: my pj's. I'm like scratching Ru's back, And there's a
- 47:09Speaker 2: part of you, there's a part of me after the fact.
- 47:10Speaker 2: I wasn't thinking about it in the moment, but after
- 47:12Speaker 2: the fact that my I kind of hate that. I
- 47:13Speaker 2: was kind of going back and forth with mom, like
- 47:16Speaker 2: because Rue was there. I think she was sleeping, But
- 47:18Speaker 2: you know, when you're young, it's like you could be
- 47:20Speaker 2: fake sleeping and you're listening to mom and dad argue.
- 47:21Speaker 2: I don't know if she's old enough to have that
- 47:23Speaker 2: figured out yet.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Well you all doing Uh have you ever seen the
- 47:26Speaker 1: other guys?
- 47:28Speaker 2: Yeah? Of course, which we're fighting.
- 47:31Speaker 1: You said I that means you have Scotty.
- 47:34Speaker 2: You No, No, we were not wasn't too high, but
- 47:37Speaker 2: we were allowed. We were loud enough. I was loud
- 47:39Speaker 2: enough for sure. And I kind of do things where
- 47:42Speaker 2: like roll over there, Charles like sitting there like like shaking,
- 47:46Speaker 2: like you know, rocking Scotty trying to get her to
- 47:48Speaker 2: sleep because she's fussy now. But you got Scottie at
- 47:52Speaker 2: that volume with that Yeah, I think I I can't
- 47:56Speaker 2: believe remember, oh, no thing. I kind of like roll
- 48:00Speaker 2: over and I'm trying to fall asleep and try not
- 48:02Speaker 2: to think about all the words that I said because
- 48:03Speaker 2: I'm trying to just sleep. She's like, so you don't
- 48:05Speaker 2: want to figure this out. No, I don't want to
- 48:06Speaker 2: figure this out. I want to go to sleep. Just
- 48:09Speaker 2: log us a therapy session. We can talk about this
- 48:11Speaker 2: with a therapist. And she's like, we don't have she's
- 48:17Speaker 2: not booked for next week. I'm like, well, you better
- 48:19Speaker 2: book her because we need to figure out We got
- 48:21Speaker 2: to Yeah, we got to talk about this conversation with
- 48:23Speaker 2: the therapist. And she's like, oh, it doesn't seem like
- 48:26Speaker 2: it's very healthy if we have to use the therapist
- 48:27Speaker 2: to talk about this, Like we need to be using.
- 48:30Speaker 2: We need to be doing the stuff that she's talked to.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Us about to help us through. Not to solve every Yeah, yeah,
- 48:37Speaker 1: not to solve it.
- 48:38Speaker 2: The sweethearted is June you don't want to respect mental
- 48:40Speaker 2: What is it mental Health Awareness Month?
- 48:43Speaker 1: I think it's Pride month? Is it both? Yeah?
- 48:45Speaker 2: It might be both, It might be better. Yeah, yeah,
- 48:47Speaker 2: June teenth, Come on, there's a lot of things going on,
- 48:50Speaker 2: of things going on.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Come on, dude, June's a big month.
- 48:52Speaker 2: And I like to think I I kind of I
- 48:56Speaker 2: hardheaded that argument to where listen, I'm going to sleep.
- 48:59Speaker 1: I don't want to argue about that.
- 49:00Speaker 2: I want to talk about this being a dude, being
- 49:03Speaker 2: a full on dude, having a low moment as a husband,
- 49:05Speaker 2: as a father, and as a man.
- 49:08Speaker 3: In the next morning, she beats me to an apology.
- 49:10Speaker 2: She's like, hey, you know, I'm sorry for uh I
- 49:14Speaker 2: said some things I didn't mean last time. I am
- 49:15Speaker 2: sorry for bringing the schoolboard that makes it. I didn't
- 49:17Speaker 2: want it to go there, and I was like, I
- 49:19Speaker 2: want to be I did want to. I needed to
- 49:21Speaker 2: be the first to apologize because I was being a
- 49:23Speaker 2: bit about the entire situation, because I just wanted to,
- 49:26Speaker 2: like just go back to the room. We don't got
- 49:28Speaker 2: the kids. It's like they offered, we take it up night,
- 49:31Speaker 2: me and you. We go back, we sleep, we wake up,
- 49:33Speaker 2: we go down and get lattes, like we enjoyed just
- 49:35Speaker 2: a nice little morning before a little pool day that
- 49:38Speaker 2: we were about to have on Saturday or whenever that was.
- 49:43Speaker 3: And she's giving me the whole Hey, the kids are.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Our responsibility, Like, I don't want to put our kids,
- 49:48Speaker 2: the responsibility of our kids on my friend when even
- 49:51Speaker 2: though she's offering and saying yes, like I know what
- 49:54Speaker 2: it takes to, you know, handle a couple of kids,
- 49:56Speaker 2: and they would have all four of them doing all
- 49:58Speaker 2: their morning routines and they're getting the same amount of
- 50:00Speaker 2: that we're getting. Yeah, And she's like it's our kids
- 50:02Speaker 2: are our responsibility. I'm thinking of myself like, yes, she's right,
- 50:07Speaker 2: but we would have had a little lifeline, we would
- 50:08Speaker 2: have had a little anyway, what I'm cracking a cold
- 50:12Speaker 2: one too. We ended up finding our way back to
- 50:14Speaker 2: each other. We were both apologetic to each other because
- 50:17Speaker 2: you know, I was being a pussy. Yeah, well that's
- 50:20Speaker 2: why I said. I was like, I'm sorry for being
- 50:21Speaker 2: a pussy last night. Like I was really bitching about
- 50:24Speaker 2: it and I was taking it out on you, and
- 50:26Speaker 2: I'm sorry for that.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Everyone won in that situation.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it's one of those I was going back and
- 50:35Speaker 2: forth on if I wanted to tell that story on here,
- 50:37Speaker 2: But then I think, like, that's real life. Yeah, that's
- 50:42Speaker 2: a that's like you go at it, and that's a
- 50:45Speaker 2: perfect example of an argument over something like trivial when
- 50:50Speaker 2: you look back at it now. Yeah, but it was
- 50:53Speaker 2: a good moment of like Charro's going off of that
- 50:55Speaker 2: philosophy of like the right choice here is the harder
- 50:58Speaker 2: one to make to go pick up our kids. Now
- 51:02Speaker 2: you say that, I feel even worse because you're one
- 51:04Speaker 2: hundred percent right.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Like, and I live by those words just because Jill's
- 51:08Speaker 1: stepdad says religiously, He's like, if you have two options,
- 51:12Speaker 1: the right one is usually the harder one to do.
- 51:14Speaker 1: And I'm like, all right, God.
- 51:15Speaker 2: But that doesn't I couldn't see that, so I could
- 51:18Speaker 2: not see it in the moment.
- 51:19Speaker 1: I didn't want to see that in the moment. We
- 51:21Speaker 1: always get blinded in moments like that. I do all
- 51:25Speaker 1: the time. Yeah, and I'm really bad. I feel like
- 51:29Speaker 1: every single wedding I've ever been to, the dad of
- 51:32Speaker 1: the bride that like, you know, talks that right before
- 51:36Speaker 1: the receptions about the guys. You know, the only advice
- 51:40Speaker 1: I'd give you guys is, uh, never go to bed angry.
- 51:43Speaker 1: You know, solve it before you go, Like, dude, I
- 51:46Speaker 1: know that's what they all say.
- 51:47Speaker 2: The whole Yeah, don't go to bed angry. I struggle
- 51:50Speaker 2: with that because I am just such a being that
- 51:53Speaker 2: I almost need a night's sleep and I'll be a
- 51:56Speaker 2: lot more clear minded when I wake up, because when
- 51:59Speaker 2: I'm in it, I'm just not in I'm just not
- 52:01Speaker 2: in the mental space to solve it the way that
- 52:05Speaker 2: we actually need to solve it.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Yes, Jill sounds like very similar to Charro. She wants
- 52:12Speaker 1: to do it right then and there and what that entails.
- 52:17Speaker 1: And this is nothing against Jill. That it's gonna be
- 52:19Speaker 1: a lot of monologuing from Jill, and I need to
- 52:21Speaker 1: keep maintain eye contact. I need to show her that
- 52:24Speaker 1: I'm listening. But it's also one point thirty in the morning.
- 52:27Speaker 1: I want to go to bed. I'm exhausted, and I
- 52:29Speaker 1: don't have the brain capacity to fully solve this thing.
- 52:33Speaker 1: And it's hard. It's a double edged sword because it's like, Jill,
- 52:36Speaker 1: you're not getting the best of me right now. I
- 52:38Speaker 1: know you want to solve this right now, but you
- 52:39Speaker 1: you're getting a pissed off, upset, tired, and probably hungry
- 52:43Speaker 1: sherman right now. Who sucks. That's the worst version of me.
- 52:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:47Speaker 1: So if we did this tomorrow, yeah, with sound minds
- 52:50Speaker 1: and a nice sleep and some thought. Yeah, but that's
- 52:55Speaker 1: just life, dude.
- 52:57Speaker 3: They Yeah, can you wake up the next morning?
- 52:59Speaker 2: You're kind of feeling a little weird, like, you know,
- 53:00Speaker 2: I know I need to say something I need to
- 53:02Speaker 2: figure out right at the right time. Yes, right to them,
- 53:05Speaker 2: we're kind of like, hey, you want to get Scotty
- 53:07Speaker 2: in this? Or hey do you want you know, I'm like, hey,
- 53:10Speaker 2: what do you want me to get in the what
- 53:12Speaker 2: do we need to get in the green backpack for
- 53:13Speaker 2: the day?
- 53:13Speaker 3: Like how long were we gonna plan to be out?
- 53:15Speaker 2: Like you know, I'm trying to do all the stuff,
- 53:17Speaker 2: and you know, it's just sitting in your mind, like
- 53:19Speaker 2: we know we have some some words we need to say,
- 53:22Speaker 2: like apologizing.
- 53:24Speaker 1: What was the little quote you said? The hard the
- 53:26Speaker 1: hard choice. The hard choice is usually the right one
- 53:29Speaker 1: to make. I'm just gonna call my wife. I have
- 53:36Speaker 1: a good feeling about this before she picks up.
- 53:38Speaker 2: I have a good feeling about this.
- 53:41Speaker 1: It's ten twenty on a Sunday.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I we're in the middle of this episode right now,
- 53:47Speaker 2: and I just I feel I felt inclined to call
- 53:51Speaker 2: you and tell you that I am once again sorry
- 53:54Speaker 2: for the way I acted the other night. That Sureham
- 53:57Speaker 2: just hit me with a quote that said the hard
- 53:58Speaker 2: choice is usually the right choice to make. And in
- 54:01Speaker 2: that moment of in that moment of weakness, I was
- 54:07Speaker 2: very much trying to take the easy way out, and
- 54:09Speaker 2: I was projecting on you in a way that you
- 54:11Speaker 2: did not deserve. And again I said it yesterday, but
- 54:15Speaker 2: I was I was being a bitch when I was
- 54:17Speaker 2: when we were coming back to the hotel, and I
- 54:18Speaker 2: just once again, I want to apologize to you and
- 54:20Speaker 2: then say I'm sorry a bit. It's kind of, you know,
- 54:27Speaker 2: it's kind of a mix because we're on the show.
- 54:28Speaker 2: I was kind of talking about my crack of cold.
- 54:30Speaker 2: One was finding your way back to your teammate, Charo.
- 54:32Speaker 1: I will say this, and I'll just interject here. I
- 54:35Speaker 1: do apologize when I said that quote. He grabbed his
- 54:38Speaker 1: phone and was like kind of partially halfway listening to
- 54:41Speaker 1: what I was talking about. I could tell he was like,
- 54:43Speaker 1: I need to call my wife right now. So I
- 54:45Speaker 1: don't think this is fully a bit. I think he
- 54:48Speaker 1: really did want to call you.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Thanks, You're welcome. I hope you hope you're enjoying your night.
- 54:54Speaker 2: I know it's ten twenty on a Sunday. I will
- 54:56Speaker 2: be home soon. But again, I just yeah, I had
- 55:00Speaker 2: loser mentality the other night when Surem hit me with
- 55:02Speaker 2: that quote on the hard choice is usually the right one,
- 55:04Speaker 2: I was like, God, yes, she was. No. No, I
- 55:11Speaker 2: believe that because you were kind of giving me the
- 55:12Speaker 2: right like I was thinking of from a perspective of
- 55:15Speaker 2: more selfishness, on we would have a room to ourselves,
- 55:18Speaker 2: your your friends tripled down and offered to have the kids,
- 55:22Speaker 2: and that felt like the easiest, most comfortable choice to make.
- 55:25Speaker 2: And when ru hit me, or when not Rue, when
- 55:27Speaker 2: Suram hit me with that quote, I'm thinking back to it,
- 55:29Speaker 2: and you were leaning into I know, but these the
- 55:32Speaker 2: kids are our responsibilities. So I'm like, you were choosing
- 55:34Speaker 2: the hard choice even though you probably you know you
- 55:37Speaker 2: would have loved to have done the same thing as me.
- 55:42Speaker 4: I don't know what to say, because.
- 55:47Speaker 3: You could just say I love you and you're the
- 55:48Speaker 3: best husband in the world.
- 55:51Speaker 1: Well, I agree, Okay, let's go.
- 55:56Speaker 2: I love you, so I'll see you later. I think
- 56:00Speaker 2: they went well.
- 56:01Speaker 1: I think that Hey, I think that was pretty good.
- 56:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it went pretty good, she said, I.
- 56:09Speaker 1: Agree with what you said.
- 56:10Speaker 2: She did.
- 56:11Speaker 1: Yell you. Yeah, hey, we're you're if like you're in
- 56:15Speaker 1: the doghouse right now. I think you're like well out
- 56:18Speaker 1: of it, you know what I mean, Like your tails
- 56:20Speaker 1: still might be in the doghouse.
- 56:21Speaker 2: Ol, buddy, out of the doghouse, when I tell you,
- 56:23Speaker 2: I put on a heroic performance when we had to
- 56:26Speaker 2: sit on the tarmac for ooh, that's all of two
- 56:29Speaker 2: and a half hours today when we were flying back
- 56:31Speaker 2: from LaGuardia. Yeah yeah, I mean I had Rue all right,
- 56:35Speaker 2: had Scotty on my lap. I you know, BASE essentially
- 56:38Speaker 2: gave Charles like a two two and a half hour
- 56:41Speaker 2: break because I was like, hey, do you want me
- 56:42Speaker 2: to hold Scotty? And because I again Charles like carrying Scotty.
- 56:47Speaker 2: I'm messing with Rue a lot of the time. But dude,
- 56:50Speaker 2: when you're stuck on the tarmac. We were stuck on
- 56:52Speaker 2: the runway. We were supposed to fly out at noon.
- 56:55Speaker 2: We got on, we got boarded around twelve thirty, and
- 56:58Speaker 2: we didn't leave until about three, like take off till
- 57:01Speaker 2: about three. Like that. Dude, that's a different kind of Hell. Yeah,
- 57:04Speaker 2: that's a different type of Like the kids were good
- 57:07Speaker 2: for the most part, Little dad hack out there. If
- 57:10Speaker 2: you're flying with your family, always sit by the window.
- 57:14Speaker 2: Reason being if there's a blowout or a heavy diaper
- 57:19Speaker 2: and your wife's in the aisle, she would usually have
- 57:22Speaker 2: to be the one to go to the back.
- 57:25Speaker 1: After that, photegal. Yeah, it's crazy, it's crazy.
- 57:32Speaker 2: But you got you got to you got to strategize
- 57:36Speaker 2: at some points. I listen, I was I was a one.
- 57:39Speaker 2: They were in c but they got to do the
- 57:41Speaker 2: family boarding after a But I don't work this hard
- 57:43Speaker 2: to you know, just let my A one go to
- 57:46Speaker 2: waste on Southwest. Yeah, so I hold down the row
- 57:50Speaker 2: that we're gonna be on full flight, not an empty seat,
- 57:52Speaker 2: the entire not an empty seat when we were taking off.
- 57:55Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, so I'm holding down the row and it's like,
- 57:58Speaker 2: you know, I just happen to be on the inside.
- 58:00Speaker 3: And I was thinking about.
- 58:01Speaker 2: This whenever we were getting towards the end and Scottie
- 58:03Speaker 2: I was seeing kind of a blowout. She had wetness
- 58:05Speaker 2: on the outside of that. Oh shit, nice, know, we
- 58:11Speaker 2: gotta change it. But matter of fact, Charle changes are
- 58:14Speaker 2: right there in the row. I ended up putting Rue
- 58:16Speaker 2: on my lap and she just changes Scotty right there
- 58:18Speaker 2: in the middle seat. Oh damn, Yeah, Charles scared to
- 58:22Speaker 2: get her hands dirty.
- 58:23Speaker 1: No, that's dial.
- 58:26Speaker 2: She ain't scared to get her hands dirty. She'll she'll
- 58:29Speaker 2: do it in public if she has to.
- 58:34Speaker 1: I need to train on diaper training. By the way,
- 58:36Speaker 1: that is something that I am very like, not nervous about.
- 58:40Speaker 1: But I'm like, I want to be a pro. I
- 58:42Speaker 1: want to be an Officianado.
- 58:44Speaker 2: Oh you'll you'll get there. You'll, you'll, you'll you'll learn quick.
- 58:47Speaker 1: You'll learn quick watching you do it that one time.
- 58:51Speaker 1: It's the only barrier you get across. You got to
- 58:53Speaker 1: get across is once you realize there they're more durable
- 58:59Speaker 1: than you INTI bait.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Yeah, because you want to be very careful. You think
- 59:02Speaker 2: everything hurts them. Like when I was putting clothes on Rue,
- 59:05Speaker 2: for I mean really first several months, I'm always like
- 59:09Speaker 2: very careful because I don't want to pull a string
- 59:11Speaker 2: of a strand of hair, you know what I mean. I
- 59:13Speaker 2: don't want her to be uncomfortable as I'm trying to
- 59:15Speaker 2: put like a shirt or something over a head. But
- 59:17Speaker 2: once you get past kind of that barrier that they're
- 59:19Speaker 2: that they're pretty durable, then you'll you'll get rolling.
- 59:23Speaker 3: Not in a way to where you're throwing them around.
- 59:25Speaker 2: But I remember when you were you were at the
- 59:27Speaker 2: house and I was like, hey, go ahead, like change
- 59:30Speaker 2: your diaper or I was having you do something. Oh,
- 59:33Speaker 2: just seeing how you were very cautious.
- 59:36Speaker 1: You were having me practice feeding. Yeah, you have practice feeding.
- 59:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I was holding on when I was showing you
- 59:44Speaker 2: the diaper. I was showing you you.
- 59:46Speaker 1: Showed me the diaper change.
- 59:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:48Speaker 1: But then you were like, hey you can feed her
- 59:50Speaker 1: like here, you put your elbow up here.
- 59:52Speaker 2: Yes, you were being super which I completely get. Like
- 59:56Speaker 2: I was the same, Like I was the same way.
- 59:57Speaker 1: I was holding a glass ballerina. Yeah, I was like,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: what in the world is this? Yeah, You're like not.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Get her, get her sitting up.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: You gotta push it in just I'm like late, and
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: then Brad doing the bottle during the trailer. Dude, I
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: always think about that, putting the bottle underneath his chin
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: and Scotty just I'm like, oh my god, I was
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: getting so nervous.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: So easy, there you go.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: You're sitting like ten feet back. You're like, what are
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: you doing?
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: Just move it. Yeah.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: We ran long again, which is which is totally fine,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Which is totally fine. But I was going to kick
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: it too. We had a survival kit and a dad hack.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: I was gonna hit the what are the odds?
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: What was your crack a cold one?
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, crack a cold one will probably.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Listen, listen. We got enough comments. People don't care.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: If it goes over.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: If we go, it's okay if it goes over. Until
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: people say, hey, you guys gonna shut the fuck up.
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: I think it's all right. I think we gotta go.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: I think we got enough good feedback. Like in my head,
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: I'm thinking these would be a lot better if they're
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: under an hour. I would love to ideally hit that
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: every episode. Yeah, but no, Like I don't know if
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: I'm in my own head about it. A lot of
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: the times and all the reassuring comments. It's like, hey,
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: we love you guys, taking your time, you guys talking
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: everything else.
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: It's kind of like, bro, just rip it.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: Bro.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Well, if we're coming in with two stories like that
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: off the top, I mean those are bangers. We looked up.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: We looked up after the choking story, it was thirty
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: five minutes.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and that felt like that.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it was the worst minutes I've ever been through.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: You're having to listen to that. Yeah, okay, So my
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: crack a cold one.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Will brought up Daily Dad, and then he also brought
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: up Strong Fathers Strong Daughters. I made it my homework
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: assignment that first week to get both of those books.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: I have both of those books as well. Some others
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: shout out Papa Sheerm. He listens to the episodes. He
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: actually the one that got on Amazon and said, I
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: heard you wanted these? Do you want these? As like
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: a little gift, let's go. So Papa Shirm hooked it up.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: I dove into Strong Father's Strong Daughters. I literally have
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: only read the intro. So we got it last night
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: or two days ago. I got it and started reading
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: it last night out loud to Jill. I have only
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: gotten through the intro and then like part of chapter one,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: but I cannot recommend it more just because the introduction
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: is and I forget the author's name. That's terrible that
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I forgot her name. Strong Father's Strong Daughters by Meg Meeker,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: shout out Magneeker. So written by a woman, And essentially
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: in the introduction, she's like, hey, listen, I've been a
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: doctor for like this long I've had to treat She's
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: done some stuff in mental health as well as well
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: as being like a family pressitioner, I think is what
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: she is. She's like, I've had all these daughters come in,
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: all these girls, it's the same thing about their dad,
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: of like, these are the types of qualities that I
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: love in my dad, or somebody that had a terrible
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: relationship with my dad. It's these are the things that
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: I really wanted from my dad. Yeah, And she's basically
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: sitting there in that introduction and just being like, Dad's
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: you are the most important relationship with your daughter no
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: matter what. Don't care who they married, don't care who
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: they date, who their best friend is, if they're best
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: friends with Taylor Swift, does not matter. You are going
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: to be the most important relationship in your daughter's life.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: Bar Nune. Even with mom and hearing that and reading
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: it aloud, and then Jill like sitting there on the couch,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: it was fun, dude. I was getting like actually really
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: juiced up of like because I'm hearing you talk about that,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: I'm hearing Jill every now and then she said this
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: great quote, She's like, the only thing I've ever been
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: worried about you, Sherman, is that our kids are gonna
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: love you more than me. And she was like, and
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: that's the best thing I could ever be worried about.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: And she's always talking about Scarlet's gonna be a daddy's girl,
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: She's gonna be obsessed with you. You're gonna be her favorite
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: person in the whole world. So like hearing all those
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: things and then reading from this doctor Meg Meeker that
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: wrote this like best selling book, like it is your
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: job to be her needle in life, of like morality,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: of spiritually, of emotionally, Like you are going to be
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: the driving force in her life. Buckle up, because you
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: play a really important role. And she had a great
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: quote she was like, if you knew how important your
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: role was in your daughter's life, you'd be terrified. And
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: I stopped reading out loud, and I looked at Jill.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: I said, well, good thing. I'm already scared shitless, so
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: I uh, like, I'm very excited, and so I wanted
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: to crack a cold one to you. I know we
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: already cracked our bud lights, but I'm just oked off
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: of like, and that was only off of one night
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: of reading. I'm gonna get home. I have so much
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: coffee in me it's late at night that I'm gonna
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: have to read The Fall asleep. I know exactly what
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: I'm reading, So shout out to you and uh for
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: that book recommendation, and I'll do like a more succinct
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: breakdown I guess of like each chapter as I go
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: through it.
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it's I'm only a few chapters in, but it is.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: It's cool that you say that too, because I feel
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: like a lot of people have DM me saying that
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: they got that, that they got strong Fall Strong sick.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: People I've talked or have mentioned The Daily Dad. I
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: know I've recommended it before, and a couple of people
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: also were talking about the twelve hours and twelve weeks
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: like a sleep the sleeping method, but a lot of
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: people getting strong father strong daughters, And dude, I'm telling you,
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: whether again you're an expecting father, whether you're somebody that's
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: already doing it and your daughter is young, whether you're
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: older and you have a teenage daughter, Like, there are
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: so many stories that she breaks down on that Yeah,
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: it's like the greatest thing in the world, and you,
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: just as I'm reading it, you already know it's going
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: to be one of the hardest things in the world,
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: especially when they get older and resent you and have
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: all these things where they push back on and they
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: don't listen to you, and you kind of, I would assume,
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: feel like you don't have a great relationship with your daughter.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: You come across a lot of these stories that you're
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: almost it's like in my head as I'm reading it
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: and I have a three year old, it's like, oh,
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: this is going to be inevitable that you're going to
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: have these like bumps in the road, or these could
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: potentially be long periods of feeling like you're not doing
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: good enough for your daughter. So even if you're a
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: dad right now and you have a teenager, you have
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: somebody who's in their twenties, and you'll read these stories
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: and I'm sure you'll get whether it's flashbacks or even
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: things to look out and prepare for that you're not
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: going to be able to stop just because you feel
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: like you have the best relationship of all time with
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: your daughter, because it seems just from what I'm reading
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: that there are going to be those moments. There's gonna
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: be those phases impossibly like years where it seems like
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: they're far away from you. So it's cool. I think
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: the book is incredible. I think that I would strongly
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: recommend the book to every girl that out there.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, it's sick. Even when you were just talking
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: about in the teenage years when they started pushing back,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: she was like, that's when they need you even there most.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: And it's not even something that I feel like you're
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: going to have like a result from. Yeah, it's just
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: going to be knowing that you still have to intentionally,
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: just through your actions, just show that you're being there,
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: because it's it's like them testing you, and they might
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: not even know that they're testing you because they're so
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: they're so hormonal, Yeah, that they might just be resistant
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: to you. But it's like I feel like the book
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: gives you a lot of good perspective to be prepared
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: for or again, you might be in it. You might
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: be in those teenage years to where you just you're
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: able to compartmentalize and understand what's happening, and it gives
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: you some good practical ways to continue to show up
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: even though it probably doesn't feel like you're showing up. Yeah,
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: so the book is the book is incredible so far.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: One last note I would say on the book that
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: was something that caught my attention. And the introduction was
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: she said, and this is for any dad's out there
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: that like maybe you don't have the strongest relationship with
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: your daughter. She had a great quote, and they're saying,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: this book isn't just for like dad's at the you know,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: precipice of this relationship. If you're trying to heal or
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: trying to like recover that relationship with your daughter, it
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: is never too late. And that's Meg Meeker's words and
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: not mine, but she says, you know, it's never too
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: late to revitalize that relationship, Like even if you are
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: separated from your daughter right now, like there's still a
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: place in her heart where like she wants dad, she
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: needs dad. So I thought that those were powerful words.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: I was like, damn, dude.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Dude, it's it's buckle up. You'll get you'll get teary eyed.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: Yeah I'm not.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: I mean I didn't last night, but you'll.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: Even get teary eyed over the stories that you kind
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: of just read about. That's like, it's just you know,
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: it's tough.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: There were there were some stuff just at the beginning
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: of chapter one where she was talking about like sex
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: education and stuff for you know, what the kids are
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: learning in school. And this book was written I don't
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: know when, but it sounds like maybe written a ways back,
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: not too far back, but like we have Google, Yeah,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: we do have Google.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: There's gonna be one story you come up on here
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: pretty soon to where it's like the daughter, something happened
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: to the daughter and she kind of told her dad,
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: and her dad was going off for like a uh.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: Two thousand and six, okay, because.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Yeah, six, her dad was going out for a tea time,
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: and the daughter was kind of telling her dad and
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: he just made the comment like, oh, boys will be boys,
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: and just that comment right there, and it dives into
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: it dives into that that girl's story and it just
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: I don't know, man, You'll you'll you'll get a lot
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: of perspective, a lot of like, oh shit stuff that
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: you'll just think about like as a man, you know
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: what I mean. Yeah, that if you don't know any better,
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: you get caught up and hearing the whole.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Boys will be boy's phrase.
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: Yeah, And now that it's like you have a daughter
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: and you're you're seeing it from a whole different perspective
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: and a whole different lens, you just realize how truly
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: important like those moments are.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: It's you'll like it.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: Damn, I'm still you'll like it. But that was that
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: was my kracker cole one. And did you already do
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: your crackerle one?
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: My cracker hole was finding your way back to your tea.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: My cracker call one ended in a phone call to
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: the missus, just hey, sweet, I just want you to know,
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: is this a bit? I am on the show? You
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: are calling me out saying that this is a bit.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: But I do mean every word that I'm saying.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: I was just checking my mis calls because I saw
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: a Jay on there for Jill, but it was actually
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: Jared Beamon, who might be the second most important Jay
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: in my life.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: Yeah, Jared Demon.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Jared Demon, that's a producer here. We got, we got.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: You have a what are the odds? I do have
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: a what are the odds? I put Will on the
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: spot earlier. I've warned you multiple times. This has been
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: a recurring issue with me at my past jobs. I
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: do a very poor job of asking for PTO in advance.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: I feel like this was well in advance, though, But
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: I did put you on the spot in front of
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: chef and I said, Hey, Baylor is playing Auburn for
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: their season opener night game blackout in Waco. Ari bought
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: tickets for it. What are the odds night game blackout Waco?
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Scarlett is going?
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that was so Sran was like, so I got
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: tickets to this game. It's like August twenty ninth, August
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: twenty eight, somewhere around there.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: Paternity leave, I know, I got it up until football
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: season starts. However, once paternity to leave in what's paternity leave.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: In labor day weekend?
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: Yeah? How about some vacation time? What are the changes?
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: I get out of the office and go to the
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Baylor home opener blackout blackout, I said, I don't see
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: why not.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: I reserve the right to change my mind.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: You one hundred percent do you one hundred percent.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: Don't see why not? I think you are insane. How
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: old Scarlet gonna be eight weeks? Yeah, maybe two months? Yeah,
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: you're taking her to a game? Hell yeah, she's going
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: phones on.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Hell yeah.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: You know you ain't gonna You're not gonna be at
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: that entire game.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah, No, I'll be in the concourse probably, you know,
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: five minutes in the first quarter, Jill going, Jill's going. Okay,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: it's a family affair.
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: So if it's a full, premeditated, planned out affair, got
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: a hotel room in Waco, there's a chance you might
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: get to be at the entire game. But I would
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: assume eight weeks postpartum, she ain't gonna want to say.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: That whole fucking game.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: She's gonna be at that game. When you guys get
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: in Waco, she's gonna be like, what the fuck are
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: we doing?
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: She and to bring it to bring it back to
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: our buck or my motherfucked quit talking about CFP. She's
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: actually very stoked for the sounding yeah right now, So
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: you're saying the what are the odds shout out FanDuel
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: the what are the odds? And what are the odds?
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: Might not even be with your boss. Yeah, no, the
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: what are the odds are? Will we make it through
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: the whole game? Can Scarlett make it through a full
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: ninety those odds?
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: Or you're got you got plus fifteen hundred at least? Okay,
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: I can make it through the whole game. I mean
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: I know that this might be a little tam I
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: and you don't even have to share this is she breastfeeding?
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Yeah? I feel so kind of weird as but they
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: have they have the little you know, like kids sections,
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: the little baby sections that you go into in the
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: concourse for like the breastfeeding. The diaper changes could be
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: kind of nice.
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: Could be kind of nice. I'm excited to hear how
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: that experience goes. The chef said, we need a dad vlog?
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: Yeah we are. This is for the dads.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Can I at some point I.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: Would assume we might expand in the vlogs?
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Can I, uh, could we send somebody down to film
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: that blog?
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: Possibly potentially if I buy the game ticket for him? Well,
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: I mean that would this this is where it's like
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: the company would Oh okay, we're gonna make a vlog
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: out of it. It's for the brand. Yeah, yeah, you
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: know what I mean. Yeah, you wouldn't have to come
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: out of pocket to Okay, this fun.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: That could be fun or it could be the worst
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: blog ever because it's like yeah, she you know.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: Oh she she's gonna go feed you mind if I.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Get the camera chef and Jared or in the hotel
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: room we're trying to put her dad. We're like, all right, Jill,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: you mind if we filmed this? Okay, so Jill, hey
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: for this scene. It's actually to be really good because
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: here's what we're gonna do. But yeah, I guess.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: So.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: One of the odds is will I make it? Will
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: I go to the game? Will we make it through
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: the game? Now that we've talked through this, you'll go
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: to the Yeah you're allowed to go. Yes, Okay, let's now.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: What are the odds is? Will you make it through
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: a full game with the missus, like with with the squad.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: And any any bears out there, any dad bears out
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: If you gotta eat tips at McLain Stadium, I gotta
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: reach out to McLean and see what the.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: Most important thing is that you and Jill are just committed. Yes, dude,
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: you guys are committed. I think you can make it happen.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: She told me all she wants again, you keep saying,
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: she told me this is a different time frame.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: This is different time frame than eight weeks. But she
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: said the only thing she wants in this world is
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: sushi and alcohol postpartum. Okay, she said, as long as
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: she gets a couple of dogs and a couple old ones,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: a couple of bud lights before the game, She's gonna
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: be a happy camper. She's a big beer girl, She's
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: a bit a big dog girl. She loves live sporting events.
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: I don't think Jill is the issue. I think I
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: think Scarlet is the issue.
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: Again. This is Jill pre momick in a little differently
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: and may maybe maybe maybe she'ld be a road dog
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: and none of that will change.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and I'll be sober, sure but all day. Yeah,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: and let her just you babe, you go.
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: But it's almost like you like learn different things on
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: the fly because moms are so in tune with everything
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: that's going on that moments of that they find out
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: everything that they put in their body ends up going through.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: If they're breastfeeding. Oh yeah, she wouldn't be able to
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: breastfeed if she's drinking. She's not pumping dump.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: Yeah, the old pump and dump. Yeah.
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: Fuck so you never know, you never know, never know, Okay, godspeed.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a lot. It sounds like we're.
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: Shut out, fand shut out baby sweetheart, you said we
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: was doing this like you know what are the Osmo
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: home presented by Fandel We gotta we can't.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: Pump and dump this segment shots going, demons going, They
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: will might even go. I think Will's gonna cub.
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: No Huskers play Cincinnati. Oh, come on, Augus, come on.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: Now a Baylor two and a half. By the way,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: two and a half dogs at home? Night game Blackout
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: be fun game, Be a fun game.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: Uh, Survival Kit dad Hacks, we can rip through these.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: I see you got a survival Kit one on here.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: Like again, Survival Kit and dad Hacks kind of run.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: I feel like they kind of run together because my
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: dad hack is almost my dad hack is a product.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: I guess I could be survival Kit. I guess my
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: dad hack could have been. And that's not even a
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: dad hack, that's a parent hack. Even the mom's out
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: there listening. You get that window seat on the plane,
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: make the old dog go in the aisle. I'm telling you,
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: that's strat right there, that's some high level strat.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: That's strat. That was a gag crazy after that though,
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: but it's it's a good strat. I love that strat.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: Hein nobody there dads will even Dad's a vibe with
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: this too, But I think there's there's not a dad
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: in the game that times up bathroom breaks quite like myself.
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you have said that, you you have Scottie down
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: almost to the tea.
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: What are you talking about. I'm talking about bathroom breaks
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: like you use them as like a lifeline. You're talking
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: to hold the kid. You're holding the kid. You've been
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: putting in you know, you've been putting in the holden time.
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: You've been looking over at the wife. She had been Yeah, hey, Scotty,
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: daddy's got to hit the bathroom. You offload them now
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: it's their turn to hold the kid. They're not just
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: going to give the kid back to you when you
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: come back from the bathroom. You'll be going to the
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: bathroom doing your thing, and all of a sudden the
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: time shifted or it's like.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: You can get an extra a couple of minutes. When
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: she tries to hand Scotty back to you, I didn't
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: wash my hands.
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: Hold on, yeah, hey, let's let's go up and get
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: bedtime started. I'm gonna run to the bathroom real quick.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: They'll get bedtime started first. You know what I mean. Yeah,
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: it's just a little subtle It's a little subtle game. Okay, now,
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: just putting out into the universe.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: I have a note section that I'll add bathroom breaks too.
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: I'll come up with more situations too, so that this
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: can be like a solid, solid clip in the future.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: I have a for mine. I was just gonna say,
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: I'm looking at my survival kit and my dad Hack
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: and I feel like they should one hundred percent be switched.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Now I'm looking at it.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: Let me go ahead and hit the survival kit, my
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: survival kit shout out. This baby product is going to
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: be is called the mom Cozy. What the mom Cozy
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: is is it? It's this deal that you put the
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: water in and it heats it up for you. You charge it,
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: you have it on the go, but it heats it
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: up for you. So if you want to get the
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: water up to one oh five. So that way, when
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: you have the bottle, once you get to the formula
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: phase or the formula stage, or even I guess, yeah,
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: breast milk you could just put you could dump breast
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: milk in it and it'll heat it up for you.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: So if you're on the go, grab some some room temp,
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: water cold, what doesn't even matter. Throw water in it,
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: hit the button, gets it up to ninety five, one
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: oh five, whatever your desired temperature is.
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: Heats it up to it.
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: You throw it in the bottle, You put the formula,
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: and you shake it up and you're ready to go.
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: So my survival kit is called it's called the mom
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: Cozy because you'll you'll learn too. It's like if you're
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: gonna go out and you might heat up milk before
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: you go, thinking like, all right, she's gonna eat or here,
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: or she's gonna eat in about twenty to thirty minutes,
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: so we'll be able to have a heated bottle in
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: the car for him, or like there's some backpacks that
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: have like a little insulated insulated sleeve that you might
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: set it in and hope that it lasts for however
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: long you need it. But this little mom cozy is
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: like this little portable heat up like it looks like
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: a little I don't want to say yetti, but it's something.
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: It's something like that to where you put the water in.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: It's got a little it's got a little battery pack
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: on the bottom that you would charge, plug in and charge.
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: You charge it up, and whenever you turn on, it'll
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: heat up your water to the to the desired temperature.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: This thing looks sick. Yeah, I didn't even know.
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: It's a game changer.
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: It's a game changer because you could just have in
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: you know, again, you could just have a bottle of
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: water and whenever it's time to eat or time to feed.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: It could be hours later. But you have this thing,
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: and you might be on the go to where you're
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: not anywhere where you can get some hot water or
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: some warm water, because usually people will heat it up,
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: whether you know, they get hot water in this at
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: the bottle, yeah, in the in the hot water, or
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: they got a little they got a little bottle warmer
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: in the house. This is like one on the go.
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: I didn't even realize that you had to heat it up.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: But now, thinking back to one of my favorite movies
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: as a kid baby say out. I don't know if
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: you'll ever saw that one burns himself trying to heat
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: up the bottle the OG's node.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: Then you know, yeah, but I didn't know heat. I
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: didn't know you had to have heat and milk either.
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: That's crazy, okay, mom cozy because if you.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: Think about it, when they're feeding on the booth, there
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: didn't add that body temperature milk. It's coming out warm.
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: Bro, I've been learning about uh, colostrum, colosstrum. Yeah, dude,
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: I saw some body like.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, the little yeah, listen to this. So
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: apparently this is my wife giving me this game. But
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: apparently if your kid is like sick or they have
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: a cold or something, the mom their body knows because yeah,
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: the baby's like communicating with the tea like when they
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: latch on, and they're ultimately telling the mom what it
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: needs nutrient wise, and the mom ultimately makes it like
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: when they're breastfeeding. So if they're sick or something, the
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: mom is like formulating something based off the communication between
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: the nipple and the mouth when they connect that hey,
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: my body, the baby needs this right now, so it
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: provides them the nutrients that they need. Even when they're sick.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: It's crazy here looking for aliens. We've been aliens the
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: whole time. That's crazy. Nuts, that's so cool, dude. That
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: is like the human body is so badass. Like the
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: way that everything on Jill's body is just like changing
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: to make this happen is crazy. We were talking about
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: like the swelling and the legs. Yeah, these Jill's gone
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: up like three shoe sizes, and the fact that there
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: is telepathy between the tit and the baby is nuts.
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: And then also for any meat heads out there that
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: think that, I swear to God, people like sell colostrum.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: Jill was telling me this. They they will like syringe
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: it out and they'll they'll freeze it. And then these
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: bodybuilders are like these juice heads.
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: One of the best things.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, they're like, oh hey, who gets colossum? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: he gets a colostrum, bro. Jill told me registered nurse
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: that doesn't that doesn't do the trick for adults. It
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: does have a lot of nutrients in it, but it's
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: not worth all the time of you know, buying some
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: clossrum on the black market. That's what the streets are saying,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: Are you buying are you buying coloster.
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: You're looking at me like I like the supplement clossrum.
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: I'm not there is a supplement.
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, colossrum is a big thing
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: on the one. Yeah, you're trying to get jack.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: You want to get some gloss the guys you're one
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: of the guys that you was talking about.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: Jill, Listen, she might be wrong in saying that because
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: it seems to be a lot of research buying clossrum.
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: Yeah. I think so, Okay, maybe I'm mixing up two stories.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: And she was talking about breast milk.
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: Yeah, so there are guys like I had an ex
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: neighbor of mine that thinks like boom milk is like
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: the fountain of youth. So he would tell me, he
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: would he would tell me like, hey, he would tell
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: Charles if you got any left over that not gonna use,
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: Like he'll take it.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: He said that to her face.
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: What was her reaction to that? Laughter, like nervous laughter, Like.
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: Yeah, because we're like friends, you know what I mean?
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but he's like.
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: He's dead ass, seriously. But I'll be like, you drink
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: your wife's boot milk and he's like, yes.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: Good for him, dude, was he jacked?
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: He's yeah, he's a he's a good looking human being.
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: Okay, maybe there is some some science behind it. And
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: Jill's what he says, Oh she has to pump indom. Yeah,
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: and the kids like something like that.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: Oh oh yeah, you're talking about when he comes up
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: to his mom and he's like he's like sucking at
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: the teat and he's like, uh, how old is he?
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: And she's like she's like, uh, what'd you say? Forty
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: eight months?
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Or yeah, oh yeah, she says some ridiculous amount of
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: months that equals up to like seven.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: Yeah, or like seventy two months. He's like so so.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Three yeah, oh my god, great call out.
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I was mixing up the Yeah, there are there
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: are cats out there that drink boot milk. I tasted, Charles.
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: I haven't like drank it, you know what I mean? Like,
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: as I'm gonna use this as a supplement.
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: You did it? Is like a bit to be funny.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I did it, Like let me see what this
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: is all about. Yeah yeah, and it really won't that bad.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna try.
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: It really won't that bad.
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: I'm not gonna sit here and act like I'm not
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: gonna try it. Yeah, but yeah, dude, seeing the colossrum
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: was crazy.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: Yeah, because it's just it's different for every woman. It's
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: like Charles having a really hard time on herself because
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: I want to say, with rue, she might have got
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: to about four months. And there are some women who
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: you know, they like freeze their boot milk and they
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: have like months worth of supply. But it just varies
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: for it just varies for everybody. Scotty, she had a
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: little bit more. She's able to do more. Maybe her
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: body was adjusted for the second pregnancy. Yeah, because some
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: women will breastfeed for a long time. I don't even know.
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: I don't even want to say a number, but they'll
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: be able to breastfeed for like a long time, Like
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: I'm talking like a year, over a year, as long
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: long as they can. Yeah.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: Yeah, because they're like back in the olden days when
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: like you would have like a back in the medieval,
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: Back in the medieval, what would they call those the
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: nursing the wet nurse.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: I don't know, we'll say it for this story, the
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: wet nurse.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: I hope I'm not like saying some super non PC
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: but I'm pretty sure that's what Yeah, yeah, yeah, a
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: wet nurse that just like she just always had boot
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: milk gun. Yeah, you didn't have to breastfeed. It was like,
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: you know, put her, put her on nurse.
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: Yeah, because there's just so many different variables, one being
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: the mom like the supply that they have, and then
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: another one is like if the kid is like breastfeeds, well,
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: sometimes it won't be coming out fast enough, so they'll
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: be very irritated, and then then you start to switch
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: to the bottle because they're just not getting a lot.
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: There's a lot of different things that.
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: You'll that you'll experience in the damn in the postpartum life,
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: because that's a that's a real thing that goes down.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: I feel like I'm in a holding pattern right now
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: with this podcast. I'm very excited for Scarlett to be here.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: Obviously for Scarlett to be here, but I feel like
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: just the amount of stuff that's gonna hit me in
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: week one, I'm gonna.
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: Yeah, it'd be some fun. Yeah, it'll be some good story.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: It's gonna be seeing there chuckling as I'm like cross
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: eyed and like, yeah, what the fuck is?
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: And you'll have different experiences, you know what. I mean, yeah, well,
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: I'm assuming that you'll probably have like different experiences.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: That it won't be the exact same thing that I experience.
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: Like everybody, everybody's different, so you just never know, but
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: it will be.
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be nice.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: The fact that you're you're playing this Waycoat trip, we
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: gate we Scarlet's life. She's gonna go to her first
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: ball game.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: And you think the Bears are gonna lose with Scarlet,
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: there'd be crazy.
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: That'd be crazy. That'd be crazy.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: There's no way. Oh yeah, my survival kid and Dad
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: hacks A'll go really quick. We have the baby Breza
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: nice that was give to us. It's kind of like
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: our was that you.
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: Get the bottle cleaner one or you got like the
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: Formula one.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: Bottle cleaner one, and that thing is crazy. I got
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: to see it in action. Jill also bought the set
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: where it like holds the bottles and stuff for Yeah,
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: we had it on our what was it called where
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: all your gifts are on the Internet and your loved
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: ones like registry registry. It was on our baby registry,
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: So shout out whoever got that for us. But the
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: Baby Breza is sick, And I'm like, why aren't all
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: dishwashers like this? Now that I think about it, if
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: you just had a smaller dishwasher instead of waiting all
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: for your dishes to just like collect over a long
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: time and put in this dishwasher where it's so big
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: that it's not really like getting everything, why not have
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: like a small concentrated dishwasher like this baby Breza that
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: just gets it dialed and you only put like the
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: cups and plates that you use from dinner in it.
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: But watching that thing work, it was crazy.
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: There might be one out there, And now as you
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: said that, if there's not, maybe it's our first product.
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: That'd be six just great manufacture, our first product.
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: You just George Foreman style pushing these mini diss and guys,
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: I'm well compted when I'm not podcasting cleaning dishes.
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: And then Survival or dad Hack was Goodwill. Goodwill came
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: in Clutch today. It was a Sunday all the city
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: dumps where you can like go legally dump your stuff.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: We're cleaning out the house because her parents, my parents,
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: they're all going to be coming in next week. Because
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: Jill gets to induced on the second so they're gonna
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: come in on the thirtieth. The moms, I think are
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: gonna be staying with us kind of on and off.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: Everybody has hotel rooms and airbnbs, but Jill wants the
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: house looking perfect. So we're like purging all this stuff.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: All the city dumps are closed. I'm like, where the
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: hell can I take all this stuff today to like
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: get it out here, because Jill's like, I want it
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: gone Goodwill. Dude asked zero questions, and I'm sitting there,
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: I'm giving them like two or three chances. Like the
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: couple in New York. I'm like, you sure, like I
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know what's in this container. I
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: don't know what I'm about to like dump in here.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: And they're like, oh, well, that's the miscellaneous bin so
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: you can just it was incredible, dude. It was just
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: a weight off the chest. So Dad Hacks if you know,
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: the missus is ever Anya. It's like, hey, you gotta
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: get this this stuff out of here. Go to good Will.
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: Dude.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: They asked zero questions. Love that, but be good to them.
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: Don't give them a bunch of nasty stuff to sift through,
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: which I hope I didn't I look through it enough
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: that it's like, Okay, nothing's gonna you know, piss them off.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: But yeah, it was a good little dad hack.
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: That's it. That is a good dad hack. Should we
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: dive into the to the voicemails.
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: Let's dive into the voicemails. Do you want to do
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: a serious one or a funny one? First? H serious? Okay?
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: And the serious is not over serious overly serious? This
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: week it's more so this dad is looking for advice
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: directly from Will Compton. I cannot answer this question.
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: Hey, fellas, this is Thomas from Chattanooga. Want to call
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: in and get some advice from the boys about making
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: the jump from one to two kids. My wife's expecting
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: our second in November. We'll have two under two. Just
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: kind of wanted to see what that jump was like
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: and what to expect from it.
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: All right, thanks fellas, Thomas from Chattanooga.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: Appreciate you calling in.
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: Brother two under two I here is a different animal.
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: Charl and I we had our we were trying to
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: go for two under two, but we obviously if you
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: listen to the IVF podcast on bus with the Boys
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: around Mother's Day that we dropped it. We had problems
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: getting pregnant with the second one with Scotti, and so
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: Rue was I would say, what was about two and
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: a half when we had so we didn't necessarily have.
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: Two under two. I do hear two under two is
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: like a different.
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: Animal, because again it's like the first one. They haven't
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: been walking very long. Rue I feel like she's not
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: she's not the most useful, but she's somebody who's aware
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: of like she's wanting to help out. So I feel
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: like that helps. When you have the older one, they're
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: over two years old, you'll be you think you'll be
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: playing man to man because you're not necessarily outnumbered yet.
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: You'll be too two v two in the household, but
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: you're still somewhat playing a bit of zone defense because
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: what the older one needs. The older one's gonna be favoring,
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: whether mom or dad at the time the newborn, you
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: guys are gonna be able to like you already know
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: what to expect out of the second one because you
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: had the first one, So the second one really won't
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: be a problem. Once they get sleeping, it's it's gonna
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: be all about getting them to sleep, getting them in
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: a good rhythm. I would strongly recommend twelve hours by
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: twelve weeks. I forget who the author is, but that's
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: a good book out there for like for like sleep training.
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: It's not too aggressive. It's how to get to the
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: kid to adapt to your life versus the other way around.
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: And that was like a method we went by. So really,
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: the first one's all about getting in that good sleep routine,
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: because that one, again, it's like when they first come out,
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: it's they're eating every three hours. You kind of know
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: what to expect. With that second one. It's going to
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: be the older one that is going to be experiencing
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: new emotions as they age. They're gonna have there used
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: to being the only child. They're no longer the only child.
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: Something that we did with Rue because we were very
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: intentional about how we introduced Scotty into the world with Rue.
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: And I was getting this stuff from like honestly Instagram.
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: But one thing that we did when Scotty was born
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: is when Rue came to the hospital, we had our
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: nanny holding Scottie. We had our nanny holding the newborn.
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: So that way, when Rue walked into the room for
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: your first child, you you and mom are their entire world.
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: So when she's walking into the room to check on Mom,
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: the entire goal was while I was walking room, it's like, Hey,
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: we're gonna go see mom and you can meet your
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: new little sister. So we wanted Rue to see when
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: she walked into the room, Mom not holding the newborn,
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: Mom who Rue saw as her entire world being Mom
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: recovering from having Scotty, the second child. So Rue could
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: walk in, crawl up on the bed with mom, check
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: in on mom. And then we were like, hey, do
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: you want to meet Scotty? Do you want to meet
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: your baby's sister who our nanny was holding. So as
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: a family, we kind of go over and introduce Rue
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: to Scotty. So that way Rue feels like the baby
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: is getting introduced to all of us at the same
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: time getting introduced to our world. That was one thing
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: that we did. The second thing that we did, which
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: Steve and Cha shout out to the boy Stephen Cha
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: for putting me on this and I feel like this
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: isn't like a secret or anything. But when we were
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: taking Scotty home, our second baby home, we were telling
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: Rue as we were driving in the car, Hey, Scotty
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: got you a present when you get home, and we
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: got her like some like ELSA, some little like ELSA
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: jewelry or something from the store. So when Rue got home,
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: Scotto he had a gift for her. We're like, hey, Scotty,
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: got this gift for you and re opened up. I
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: was all excited. So we were very intentional about introducing
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: the second baby into our home with Rue being our oldest.
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: So I would I would recommend a couple of those things.
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: And then it's like how you can immerse your oldest
- 1:36:20Speaker 2: into being helpful with Scottie. You're like, hey, do you
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: want to do you want to show Scotty how we
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: do your bedtime routine? That actually kills two birds with
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: one stone, because you're trying to get you know, it's
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: hard enough to get your your oldest one in the
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: bedtime routine every night consistently. So you're like, hey, do
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: you want to show Scotty how we do bedtime? How
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: we do our routine, And so Rue would be like
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: helping out, we do this, we do that kind of
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: talking to the baby, and in the same breath, Ruth's
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: getting ready for bed. So you're kind of like, you know,
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: you're kind of gaming her up to get ready for
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: bed as well. She obviously you're your oldest doesn't know
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: how to read yet. But we would tell we would
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: have Rue like, hey, what books should we read Scotty
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: for the first time? Which we do here, what we
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: do there? And so we were we were We allowed
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: Rue to be very instrumental into introducing Scotty into our house.
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: So those would be the things that I would tell you.
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: As far as going one to two, you know you'll
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: get mixed reviews. You know you have you'll have the
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: people that are like, oh, you only have one kid, now,
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: wait till you have the second one. But honestly, dude,
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: it's not. It's not that bad. You're already in your
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: own routine of having a kid in the first place,
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: and balancing work, family, being home, all those different things,
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: and helping your wife out. The second one is really
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: not as as difficult when you have to. Obviously, mom's
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: going to be leaning on you to help with the
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: older one a lot more getting ready for bed because
- 1:37:41Speaker 2: she's going to be on a lot more of a
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: routine with the newborn.
- 1:37:44Speaker 3: But it's not it's not.
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: As bad as I feel like what reviews can be
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: on going one to two.
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm speaking so out of turn. I have
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: no idea, but I almost see it as like as
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: the two get older, like that their relationship starts budding.
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: They're able to start pouring into each other. They're able
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: to kind of entertain each other in types of ways
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: to where almost like the two dog principle.
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: I guess, yeah, yeah, Well, it's like once they can
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: start smiling, like anytime Scotty's like smiling at Rue, or
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: because Scotty watches Rue a lot, just play and do
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: all the things and just making the comments Scotty loves
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: you so much, Oh, Scotty loves her big sister, you know,
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: getting them to say it back and forth. So Rue
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: feels very connected to Scotti. And another thing that we
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: would do that I think we learned on Instagram as well.
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: I know for me I did. It was like how
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: you kind of talk to the newborn with the oldest
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: sitting there. So it's like if Rue wants my attention
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: to play, Hey dad, Dad, can we play Hide and Seek?
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: And I know I gotta do something with Scotti before
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: I play with Rue. And I'm trying to be conscious
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: about just telling Rue like Hey, I gotta de feed Scotty.
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: I can't play with you right now. Instead, I would
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: look to Scott and be like, hey, all right, we
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: can play hide and seek. I just got to tell
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: Scotty something that I look at Scotty. Hey, Scotty, when
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: I'm done feeding you, I'm gonna go have to play
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: hide and seek with your sister if that's okay with you.
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: So I'm kind of telling Scotty. I'm kind of saying
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: that in front.
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: Of Rue, so Rue knows that, oh.
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: Dad's gonna spend time with me, he just has to.
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: He's letting Scotty know he's got to play with me
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: before he plays, yes, dude, versus being like, I can't
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: play with you right now, I'll play with you after
- 1:39:23Speaker 2: I'm done feeding Scotty. Because then in their brain or
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: what I've tried, like learning or gathering, like in their
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: brain it's like, oh, I'm second fiddle to this new trial.
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: So that could build up some resentment like in their
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: brain because I, sweetheart, I can't play with you right now.
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: Let daddy. Daddy will play with you after I'm done
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: doing what I gotta do with Scotty. Instead, I'll look
- 1:39:41Speaker 2: at Scotty and explain what I'm gonna have to do
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: with Rue after I get done executing what I need
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: to execute with the new.
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: Dude, that is some serious game.
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: You like that?
- 1:39:50Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, shout out Instagram, man, Yeah.
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: Shout out Instagram. That's so sick.
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: You're like, listen to the breakdown and you hear the
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: why behind it, and you're like, oh that that that
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: makes a lot of sense, yes, and how it could
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: come off to the child that doesn't know any better.
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: They're just hearing, no, I can't play with you right now.
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: I gotta do this with the newborn. And it's like, well,
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: you know, where's the time for me? You know what
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: I mean? And then I can build up some it
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: can build up whatever the resentment is. Like, really, the
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: only issue we have with the ruined Scotti is if
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: Rus just starting to break down and she sees Mom
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: say holding Scotty like it happened today on the on
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: the flight like Charo had, Scottie had the carrier and
- 1:40:28Speaker 2: she was shrapped to her chest, and ru was just
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: like having a little moments like Mom, I want you
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: to hold me. I don't want you to hold Scotty. Yeah,
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: so then you got to kind of, hey, I'll take
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: the baby so she can hold Rue and stuff like that.
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: But really that's about as much jealousy that we've seen
- 1:40:41Speaker 2: out of Rue. It's more of just like when Ruth's
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: having a moment and see Scotty being held, She's like,
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: I want you to hold me. I don't want you
- 1:40:46Speaker 2: to hold Scotty.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: It's very much the power. Forgot where I heard this
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: or read it, but the power of we, the power
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: of us, like using those types of terminology with like
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: co workers, even if it's a job that only you're
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: gonna be doing, but if you're saying it to your
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: coworker of like yeah, if we do that, yeah, that's
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: gonna work out great. I think that would be the
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: best option for us. It's like integrating we're a team. Yeah,
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: Like you're letting Rue know like, hey, we are playing
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: hide and go seek. That's a given. We just gotta
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: break it to this little thing over here. I love that, dude.
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: Yeah it's been Yeah, it's worked out. It's been a
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: good move for us.
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: But that that's what I would That would be my
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: advice on going from one to two.
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: Let's go and then we'll be reaching out to Thomas
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: in Chattanooga to get his address and he'll be receiving.
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: Did we do a good job following up with our
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: callers from last week? Let's go chef.
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: Yeah, so we and yes, our friends that do the
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: merch stuff. We have like a great doc that's all
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: put together. We're gonna be putting people's addresses into it.
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: We also you and I need to write some thank
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: you for those guys as well. That will be included
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: with so huge shout out to Thomas for reaching out.
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: We have another call from Stephen, Stephen Steven. Let's go Stephen.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: This one might sting for you.
- 1:42:19Speaker 5: What's up, boys, This is Stephen. I'm currently living in
- 1:42:23Speaker 5: Warner Robbins of Georgia, originally from the borough. When it
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: comes to kids, let's just talk about the bedtime routine.
- 1:42:33Speaker 5: My kids have had the same bedtime routine since the
- 1:42:37Speaker 5: dawn of time. Seven o'clock, they go lay down eight o'clock.
- 1:42:42Speaker 5: They're usually asleep by then. I feel that when it
- 1:42:45Speaker 5: comes time to put them to bed at seven o'clock,
- 1:42:48Speaker 5: it's not just oh, hey, go to bed, it's seven o'clock.
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:42:53Speaker 5: My kids I have to put them to bed, so
- 1:42:55Speaker 5: I have to go in the room. I got to
- 1:42:58Speaker 5: make sure they're steiling fans on. I gotta turn on
- 1:43:00Speaker 5: the curtain lights. I gotta turn on their little box
- 1:43:03Speaker 5: van because we're from the South and we gotta have
- 1:43:06Speaker 5: two fans in our bedroom at all times. I gotta
- 1:43:09Speaker 5: cover them up and kiss them and tell them good night.
- 1:43:13Speaker 5: And all this time, they know they're gonna be thirsty.
- 1:43:17Speaker 5: They know they're gonna want water. Yep, my daughters have
- 1:43:22Speaker 5: a billion water cups. You know they got the o Wallas,
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: they got the Stanley's. Do you think they fill that
- 1:43:28Speaker 5: thing up knowing they want it before bed? Absolutely not.
- 1:43:34Speaker 5: So as I finish the routine, I kiss them and
- 1:43:37Speaker 5: tell them good night, I go to leave the room
- 1:43:39Speaker 5: and I hear can you fill up my a walla?
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: And the rage that fills up inside of me could
- 1:43:48Speaker 5: blow the roof off the building. Because they have known
- 1:43:53Speaker 5: since I started putting them to bed that they were
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: gonna be thirsty. Bedtime routine super important. But I know
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: I'm not the only one out there that gets frustrated
- 1:44:05Speaker 5: by it. And then I just sit here and think,
- 1:44:08Speaker 5: I just cannot wait for them to get older and
- 1:44:09Speaker 5: put themselves to bed, and I cannot wait until they
- 1:44:13Speaker 5: put themselves to bed. I got a twelve year old boy,
- 1:44:17Speaker 5: and I got three daughters, ten year old, eight year
- 1:44:21Speaker 5: old and a three year old. Well that's my story.
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: Shout out to the boys.
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: Have a good day. Steven from Georgia appreciates you calling in.
- 1:44:30Speaker 2: The first thing I would say, listen, I can tell
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: by your voice. I know you're in it right now.
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: I know you're in it, and you said the words
- 1:44:36Speaker 2: I can't wait until they can put themselves to bed.
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: But I need you just to pause for me, and
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: I need you to understand. All of us dads, all
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: of us parents. I have those thoughts many times throughout
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: the week, and I have to just remind myself that
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: one day, one day, we're going to be old, and
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: all of these kids are going to be out of
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: the house, and we're going to be own, lonely, and
- 1:44:57Speaker 2: we're going to be trying to talk to our wives
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: about the college football sked coming up, and.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: They ain't gonna want to hear it. They're not gonna
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: carry You're.
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: Gonna be an empty nester and you're gonna wish that
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: you were back in this moment, hoping that you can
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: put your daughter to bed and she can annoy you
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: by saying, Hey, dadda, can you fill up my what
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: did he call it?
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: The the a wala? That can you filla walla?
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: You are going to miss that one day and we
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: both know that you're going to And I know as
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: I sit there and say this, you're like, God, damn it.
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: I know he's right because we all go through that shit.
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: We always get so mad when you get him to bed.
- 1:45:29Speaker 2: Hey dad, Dad, I'm hungry all of a sudden. It's like, buddy, rue,
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: that is why you had to eat your dinner. There's
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: no snacking. There's no snacking a night. We got to
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: set a precedent. We got to stand on business. Daddy,
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: Can I listen? I go through the waterface or we're
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: in the waterface, like Dad, that kind of have some water.
- 1:45:48Speaker 2: I'll already kind of have it filled up. But here's here,
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: Here would be some unsolicited advice that I would give
- 1:45:55Speaker 2: you before you enter that war room. Yeah, each night
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: is you lay out the expectation of bedtime and it
- 1:46:02Speaker 2: doesn't always go smooth. It doesn't.
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: We know that it doesn't.
- 1:46:06Speaker 2: But if you lay out the expectation like, Hey, we're
- 1:46:08Speaker 2: gonna have a good, clean, fun bedtime. We're gonna have
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: a consistent bedtime tonight. There's no problems.
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: Does the heart need to turn black for bedtime? Yeah?
- 1:46:18Speaker 2: When when when you hear that door click, your heart
- 1:46:22Speaker 2: needs to turn black knowing that you have a mission
- 1:46:28Speaker 2: to accomplish that is bedtime, and you lay out the
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: expectations like, hey, we're gonna get your pjs on. Rush
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: will still wear a pull up. We're gonna get the pullup.
- 1:46:38Speaker 2: We're gonna get the pjs on. That's never That's hasn't
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: necessarily been a problem, unless she wants to go see
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: mom and give her a hug before bed. We're gonna
- 1:46:46Speaker 2: brush your teeth. Dad is gonna brush your hair. I'm
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: gonna start low on the hair, just like you like it.
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: We're not gonna We're gonna try to minimize as many
- 1:46:52Speaker 2: tangles as possible. I know, dads feel me on that.
- 1:46:55Speaker 2: It's kind of a learning curve when you're going through
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: brushing the air. You gotta start low, you gotta start
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: at the bottom.
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: That's game.
- 1:47:01Speaker 2: We're gonna get your pjs on. We're gonna read two
- 1:47:03Speaker 2: books because what you don't want to get into is
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: you get on a rhythm, you get in, you build
- 1:47:08Speaker 2: some momentum, because dads, I know we're all good storytellers
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: out there when we're hitting, when we're hitting the green
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: eggs and ham, we're hitting the you know, fancy, Nancy,
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: I'm reading Ziggy and the Three Little Pigs right now.
- 1:47:19Speaker 3: Yes, they've hadded a fourth pig.
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: Hungry hungry caterpillar.
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: Hungry hungry caterpillar. You set the precedent with two books.
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: We're gonna read two books. We're gonna brush your teeth,
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: and we're gonna get in bed. And when we get
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: in bed, you better not be thirsty. If you need
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: a drink of water, you're gonna drink it before you
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: get You're gonna drink it before you brush your teeth. Now,
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: when you get to bed, they're still gonna want that water. However,
- 1:47:46Speaker 2: now that you set precedent and you set expectation, you
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: can look at them say, sweetheart, I have a water
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: bottle sitting over there right now. We're not gonna drink
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: this water long because Dad already told you that we're
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: not drinking water once we get in bed. Yeah, now
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: you go get them the water. They take a little
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: sip and be like that one's on the house. Next time,
- 1:48:04Speaker 2: it's gonna cost you. But you got to understand that
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: Dad said we weren't gonna have water. So that way,
- 1:48:11Speaker 2: it just starts to cultivate a behavior to where at
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: least they think twice about getting the water. And if
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: they do get the water, they're gonna keep it short.
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: They're gonna keep it sweet. That would be that would
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: be my advice.
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: So don't don't have water living on the nightstand.
- 1:48:28Speaker 2: So we started that way, okay, But when I knew
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: she was gonna get me for some water, yeah, I
- 1:48:34Speaker 2: would already have it kind of filled up. Yeah, and I.
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: Wouldn't fill it up very much.
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: When she's like I need more water, it's like, sweet art,
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: we both know you're gonna wet the bet if you
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: drink more water.
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: Yeah, she might throw fin. I might end up getting
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: her more water.
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: But what I try to set the expectation on is
- 1:48:48Speaker 2: this is all the water you have. You know when
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: it's gone, it's gone. So you can have your water
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: in the crib. I'll let you keep it in the
- 1:48:54Speaker 2: crib if you want to. But there's only like a
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: little bit of water in there, so she can utilize
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: the water if she wants to. She's trying to stay
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: she's trying to continue to stay up and find new things.
- 1:49:03Speaker 2: When she was younger, it would be she has to
- 1:49:06Speaker 2: tell the stairs a good night, she has to tell
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: the rail good night. Just tell all of her stuffed
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: animals good night. Yep, I gotta go tell this door
- 1:49:12Speaker 2: good night. You got to take them all around the
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: house to say good night to everything. But you realize
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: they're strategizing against you. They're negotiating to stay up longer.
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: It's all about setting expectations right from the jump, and
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: those expectations always they always.
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: They won't go according to plan.
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: However, you're setting expectations so that way when they get there, listen,
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: I'll get you out of bed. We can go say
- 1:49:34Speaker 2: good night to the world one more time at the window.
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: But whenever we say good night, we're not going anywhere else.
- 1:49:39Speaker 2: We're going in the bed. Okay. You make them say okay,
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: and when they say okay, you get them up. You
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: go over there when they say good night to the world,
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: Where do we go now we go to bed?
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: Can I pitch you a plan really quick. Since I
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: have not gone through bedtime routine. Can you tell me
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: if this is a good plan? Yeah, I get daughter,
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: I get Scarlet. I say, hey, Scarlett, we're gonna go
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: get our night night water. It's the only water that
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: we're gonna get before night night.
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: This is it.
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: Let's go fill it up together. We go fill it up, Scarlett.
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: I know that you want to say nine night to
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: the stairs, to the railing. Let's go ahead and do that.
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: I'm holding her and she's got her water. We're telling
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: night night to all the stuff that we want to do.
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: I'm I'm knocking out all the things that she's wanted
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: to do with her before bet and after we do this,
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: we're going to bed. Let's sell the stuffed animals night night.
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: Let's sell the blah blah blah. Is that too much
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: to like feed into those little things that she's wanting
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: to do? Am I giving her too much of what
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: she wants?
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: You won't know until she starts negotiating with you, and
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: then after a few days you're gonna understand what a
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: rhythm is and what is imperative is you don't go
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: one by one, is that you just lay out the
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: plan before it happens. So if it's we're gonna go
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: down and get water, we're gonna say good night to
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: the stuff, or whatever their cadence is.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we're.
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: Gonna go downstairs and get water. We're gonna say good
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: night to the animals. And when we say good night
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: to the animals, after the last one, we're gonna get bed. Okay.
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: Once they say okay, they might want something else, and
- 1:51:03Speaker 2: they might be crying about something else. You gotta know
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: that you got to give them enough of what they're wanting.
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: But then you implement the expectation of bedtime. After that
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: second or third thing out of their list of five, Hey,
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: you're not getting all five. Here's the three that I'll
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: give you, because you know it's bedtime right now. Here's
- 1:51:21Speaker 2: the two or three that I'll give you. We'll go
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: do those things. But after that second or third one
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: we're now getting, we're gonna get back in bed. Okay.
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: Is that a deal? They'll say? Okay, So then you
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: start hitting the things. Where do we go to next bedtime?
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: Two books?
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm a two book guy. I'm a two book guy.
- 1:51:40Speaker 2: She'll get me up to three four every now, and
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: then sometimes you got to negotiate too. It'll be like
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: you might get two books and it's like I want
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: I want one more book, and they're not wanting to
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: go brush your teeth. Like hey, sweetheart, here's what we
- 1:51:52Speaker 2: can do. Let's brush your teeth. We'll get you in
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: bed and I'll read you one more book. They might
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: not want. They might want the book on the couch.
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: So again, you gotta it's gonna be instinct, it's gonna
- 1:52:03Speaker 2: be in the moment, but you're gonna have to give
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: to get some It's all about places. It's all about
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: setting the expectation. That's all I say. It's about setting
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: the expectation, laying out the expectation and getting them to say, okay,
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: getting them to think like, okay, that is a good deal.
- 1:52:17Speaker 3: That's I can get those couple of things.
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: Okay, I feel comfortable with that.
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: Yeah, you'll rocket.
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: I'm definitely like, just from the relationship of Jill and
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: I with our dogs, like I know that I'm gonna
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: have to be the disciplinarian, the one that's kind of
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: you know, setting that line and as our miss missus
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: Meek or doctor Meek is telling me and strong father's
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: shock daughters like, I'm gonna be driving the boat.
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: So I'm I'm already just from my poor performance with
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: Ru and her sticker book of giving her exactly what
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: you wanted in the in the moment and given JJ
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: here in the office exactly what he wanted in the moment.
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: I'm just like, man, I gotta with Scar, I gotta
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: lock in. Yeah, my heart has to turn black at
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: some point. Yeah yeah, And dadas is gonna have to
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: step up and say no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: It's gonna go. You gotta know when you realize what
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: they want, you got to think in your mind, I'm
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: gonna give them what they want, but you have to
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: follow it up with what your expectation is going to
- 1:53:19Speaker 2: be after that and then get them to say okay,
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: and then when it happens, then then they know what
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: do we do next?
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: We get in bed, are you ever doing story times?
- 1:53:29Speaker 2: Like?
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: Are you ever making stuff up? I feel like you'd be.
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: Good at that. Uh. I will if I get the
- 1:53:35Speaker 2: light off and I'm laying next to her because she
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: loves when dadad lays next to her in bed at night,
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: So I'll like lay down by her crib because you know,
- 1:53:40Speaker 2: the low back. I'm not trying to like stand up
- 1:53:42Speaker 2: the entire time or sit sometimes they get so I'll
- 1:53:44Speaker 2: be like laying down on a pillow next to her crib.
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: If she wants another story, I'll just bet how about
- 1:53:49Speaker 2: Dadad tells you a story, and then I'll just I'll
- 1:53:52Speaker 2: just riff on something and tell her a story, usually
- 1:53:55Speaker 2: like something it's like a sports moment that happened back
- 1:53:58Speaker 2: in my that happened back in the day, oh yeah,
- 1:54:00Speaker 2: of myself, and I'll just make up a different character.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: Dude, I can't believe or I can't wait until she
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: becomes like aware of your playing background. That's gonna be fun.
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: No, it'll be interesting because it won't mean shit to him. No,
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: it'll mean shit when it's cool.
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: Oh oh yeah, like elementary time. Yeah, uh huh yeah yeah.
- 1:54:19Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's yeah, I'll riff and do some story time.
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: I love reading the children's books because I love like
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: doing different voices, like she loves she would be on
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: a kick of like Beauty and the Beast, changing beasts voice,
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: like changing all the voices. I love doing that kind
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: of stuff.
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: Oh dude, shout out Brett Burford that he was our neighbor.
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: He would sometimes he and his wife would babysit while
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: my dad and mom like went out to dinner, and
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: he would read us the o G. Harry Potters, which
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: miss Amy was not a fan of.
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: My mom.
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think she knew that he was reading
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: us Harry Potter, but he would get into that hagrid
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: voice and get into that dumble Doore voice. Heah, I
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: still remember that. I'm thirty two years old and I
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: still just dine laughing wizard.
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: Oh, stuff up.
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: We have our topic quote.
- 1:55:07Speaker 2: Or yes, dude, so mine is going to come from
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: let me find it. Mine is going to come from
- 1:55:14Speaker 2: The Daily Dad by Ryan Holiday. This book right here
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: highly recommend great one to half just on the dinner
- 1:55:19Speaker 2: table if you're eating every night, just a little breakup session, like, hey,
- 1:55:23Speaker 2: you want Data to read something out of his book.
- 1:55:25Speaker 2: She'll say yes, and then we'll read something out of
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: The Daily Dad. Three hundred and sixty six Meditations on Parenting, Love,
- 1:55:31Speaker 2: and Raising Great Kids by Ryan Holiday, a number one
- 1:55:35Speaker 2: New York Times best selling author of the Obstacle is
- 1:55:38Speaker 2: The Way in the Daily Stoic Big in the Stoicism
- 1:55:41Speaker 2: love Ryan Holiday's books, So we rock the Daily Dad
- 1:55:45Speaker 2: for dinner time.
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: Shout out, going to one hundred and ten percent. I
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: see they went one day extra of a three hundred
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: and sixty.
- 1:55:52Speaker 3: Yeah right, yeah, yeah, I can appreciate that.
- 1:55:54Speaker 2: Yeah. But also it's a flex, like what are you
- 1:55:56Speaker 2: trying to just make an extra day?
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: Come all right, come on?
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: This this is one for man, I'm stuck between two.
- 1:56:08Speaker 2: This one's called just go to bed. So this is
- 1:56:12Speaker 2: for dads out there, and this is great for us
- 1:56:15Speaker 2: because we love staying up and playing pubg. A lot
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: of career guys out there, a lot of working dads,
- 1:56:19Speaker 2: a lot of working moms that stay up late and
- 1:56:21Speaker 2: sacrifice or sleep to stay up late doing whatever they're doing.
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: In our case, sometimes I'll stay up late playing a
- 1:56:27Speaker 2: video game or just doom scrolling.
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: Because this is is he about to tell us not
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: to do that?
- 1:56:32Speaker 2: Uh, he's not about to tell you not today. I'll
- 1:56:34Speaker 2: read it to you. I'll read it to you. Okay.
- 1:56:36Speaker 2: Here's a quote from Arthur Choppenhauer. Sleep is the interest
- 1:56:41Speaker 2: we have to pay on the capitol, which is called
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: in at death. The higher the interest rate and the
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: more regularly it is paid. The further the date of
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: redemption is postponed. All right here it is. You know
- 1:56:54Speaker 2: your kids are a mess when they don't sleep. That's
- 1:56:56Speaker 2: why you follow the bedtime ritual religiously. You know that
- 1:56:59Speaker 2: kids get into trouble at night if left to their
- 1:57:02Speaker 2: own devices. That's why your teenager has a curfew that
- 1:57:05Speaker 2: you enforce with an iron fist. And yet here you
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: are up late again, mindlessly watching TV. Here you are
- 1:57:11Speaker 2: tired in the morning again because you were uplate on
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: your phone. You could have gone to bed. You knew
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: you should have gone to bed, but you didn't. Who
- 1:57:20Speaker 2: suffers your kids do because you're grouchy, because you don't
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: have the energy, because you're behind, because maybe they even
- 1:57:27Speaker 2: sense that you're a hypocrite. If you want to be
- 1:57:30Speaker 2: a better parent, start going to bed earlier, Give yourself
- 1:57:32Speaker 2: a bedtime that you honor and respect and enforce, value sleep.
- 1:57:36Speaker 2: Take care of yourself and everyone else will benefit.
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: That hits home. Dude, we do stay up. We are
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: we are too really bad.
- 1:57:49Speaker 2: Yeah, we can be a couple times, definitely, those couple
- 1:57:52Speaker 2: nights a week that will stay up playing the video
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: game doesn't mean I'm gonna stop playing yeah, just means
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: that this is a great reminder that even when you
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: do stay up late, you're just aware that we are
- 1:58:03Speaker 2: doing it to ourselves. That almost makes I'll versus stand
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: up late your grouch. You're kind of pissing a moment
- 1:58:11Speaker 2: everybody you're making it. You're just in a bad mood
- 1:58:14Speaker 2: because you stayed up late, you feel bad about yourself
- 1:58:16Speaker 2: for doing it, and you're just more so projecting on
- 1:58:18Speaker 2: everybody else. Something like this right here just makes me
- 1:58:21Speaker 2: aware that I am doing it to myself, so be
- 1:58:26Speaker 2: aware and be intentional of it the next day. To know,
- 1:58:28Speaker 2: like if you if I am going off the rock
- 1:58:30Speaker 2: or a little bit, that it's only because I did
- 1:58:33Speaker 2: it to myself the night before. I that.
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: Just inspired me as far as Pubgen nights go, because
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: now I know the cost, and it's.
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: A cost that we will continue to pay.
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: It is a cost, Like they know that we got
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: to be accountabilly buddies the next day, truly, which I
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: feel like we already kind of do at the office
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: those those next days, Like I pumped into my veins,
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: I'm like, I know what I did, yeah, and I'm
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: but I gotta show up this next day. And kick ass.
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: But I do love that message, just because as far
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: as work goes, I obviously don't have a kid yet,
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: but as far as work goes, do when I'm getting
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: that sleep, it's crazy how much better I'm operating and
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: so applying that to like, you know, being able to
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: have those conversations with my kids and my wife and
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: be more there, be more present. Yeah, that's a that's
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: a good learning Listen. Did you have another one?
- 1:59:32Speaker 3: It's a good little reminder. I did have two.
- 1:59:33Speaker 2: I might as well just read the second one says
- 1:59:35Speaker 2: right here. This one's called it's good that you worry
- 1:59:39Speaker 2: about this, a quote from Michael Ian Black. One great
- 1:59:43Speaker 2: thing about having kids is that they force you into
- 1:59:45Speaker 2: an active practice of love, whether you're ready for it
- 1:59:47Speaker 2: or not. The question hits you in a soft place.
- 1:59:51Speaker 2: It hits you when you least expect it, and yet
- 1:59:53Speaker 2: it's there constantly. Am I a good parent? Am I
- 1:59:56Speaker 2: screwing this up? Your own parents will try to reassure
- 1:59:59Speaker 2: you that every parent thinks this way, except that's not true.
- 2:00:03Speaker 2: There are, in fact two types of parents who never
- 2:00:05Speaker 2: think that. There are parents who are so convinced that
- 2:00:07Speaker 2: they're the center of the universe, that they never question themselves,
- 2:00:10Speaker 2: never wonder what they're doing wrong. Then there are parents
- 2:00:14Speaker 2: who don't even care enough to ask, although they are
- 2:00:16Speaker 2: very different. In the end, these two types of parents
- 2:00:19Speaker 2: are the same. They are not good parents. But you
- 2:00:23Speaker 2: the type who is always checking in and wondering am
- 2:00:26Speaker 2: I doing enough? Who actually cares about whether you're doing
- 2:00:30Speaker 2: a good job or not. You are, by definition, a
- 2:00:33Speaker 2: good parent because you are thinking about your kids first,
- 2:00:35Speaker 2: not yourself. It's proof that you care, that you have
- 2:00:39Speaker 2: self awareness, that you're always trying to improve, that you
- 2:00:42Speaker 2: would stop to evaluate your own performance, that it would
- 2:00:45Speaker 2: bother you to give anything less than the full measure
- 2:00:49Speaker 2: of your devotion is all the evidence you need to
- 2:00:52Speaker 2: reach a positive conclusion. So if you feel that negative thought,
- 2:00:55Speaker 2: that doubt come up today, be reassured. It means that
- 2:00:59Speaker 2: you're putting them first, and it means that you're doing
- 2:01:00Speaker 2: a good job. I like that a lot. Yeah, solid
- 2:01:05Speaker 2: one for solid one for parents. The it kind of
- 2:01:10Speaker 2: sucks to read there where he just says they're not
- 2:01:13Speaker 2: good parents, because I'm sure it's, like, you know, I
- 2:01:15Speaker 2: feel like every parent kind of thinks are wonders that
- 2:01:18Speaker 2: they're doing a good job or not?
- 2:01:20Speaker 1: Of course, yes, everybody thinks about anything in their life,
- 2:01:24Speaker 1: not just parenting of like am I a good friend?
- 2:01:27Speaker 1: Am I a good husband? Am I a good employee?
- 2:01:30Speaker 2: Yeah? I guess it's like a good m reminder or
- 2:01:34Speaker 2: shift in perspective of asking yourself like have I checked
- 2:01:40Speaker 2: in with the wife? Have I checked in with my wife?
- 2:01:42Speaker 2: Have I checked in with my kids? Have I checked
- 2:01:43Speaker 2: in with myself? To kind of measure performance whatever that
- 2:01:46Speaker 2: performance is. I don't think there is like a measuring
- 2:01:47Speaker 2: stick for it. Yeah, but if you're at least like
- 2:01:49Speaker 2: conscious of it enough to think like so, because we
- 2:01:53Speaker 2: don't know what our blind spots are unless we ask
- 2:01:55Speaker 2: people in our close circle, you know what I mean?
- 2:01:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I know exactly what. But you man, it's something
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: that I'm already starting to think about with like the
- 2:02:04Speaker 1: everything that's coming up, and like the next three weeks
- 2:02:07Speaker 1: for me are about to be a whirlwind. It's about
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: to be crazy. Yeah, And I'm already starting to think
- 2:02:13Speaker 1: to myself about like still trying to prioritize Jill even
- 2:02:18Speaker 1: though Scarlet is going to be in the picture, and
- 2:02:21Speaker 1: like that's going to be our main focus no matter what.
- 2:02:24Speaker 1: But with postpartum depression and all the things that you
- 2:02:28Speaker 1: hear of like hey, is is Jill? Like am I
- 2:02:31Speaker 1: doing enough for Scarlet? But I am I also doing
- 2:02:33Speaker 1: enough to support Jill? And is Jill okay in this moment?
- 2:02:37Speaker 2: You know?
- 2:02:38Speaker 1: It's I feel like it's one of those things that
- 2:02:40Speaker 1: like the like we were talking about last week, when
- 2:02:43Speaker 1: you ask yourself you're like, man, I hope I'm going
- 2:02:45Speaker 1: to be a good dad. It's like the fact that
- 2:02:47Speaker 1: you're asking yourself that, or that you're wanting that, that's
- 2:02:51Speaker 1: already a good sign.
- 2:02:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's And if you're somebody out there thinking
- 2:02:58Speaker 2: of because I, like you said about like just you know,
- 2:03:01Speaker 2: making sure Jill's all right, if Jill's good, being on
- 2:03:04Speaker 2: the same page with Jill, it's like essentially asking your
- 2:03:08Speaker 2: wife those questions like you know, hey, am I doing enough?
- 2:03:12Speaker 2: What do you need from me right now? Or am
- 2:03:15Speaker 2: I operating how you would assumed if you could give
- 2:03:18Speaker 2: me a performance evaluation right now? And some of those
- 2:03:21Speaker 2: questions are some of those thoughts might be like scared
- 2:03:23Speaker 2: to have with your wife, Like if you're a dad
- 2:03:24Speaker 2: right now listening thinking to yourself like maybe I haven't
- 2:03:27Speaker 2: checked in with myself recently, or I haven't checked in
- 2:03:29Speaker 2: with my wife, and it could be like a frightening
- 2:03:31Speaker 2: thing because you might know what the answer is. You
- 2:03:34Speaker 2: almost just have to you almost have to lean in
- 2:03:37Speaker 2: and still seek those answers that you might not be
- 2:03:41Speaker 2: excited to hear. Because it's one thing that we talk
- 2:03:43Speaker 2: about all the time is like conflict delayed is conflict multiplied.
- 2:03:46Speaker 1: Yeah, And so.
- 2:03:47Speaker 2: If you don't seek out those answers and rip that
- 2:03:49Speaker 2: band aid off and kind of hear something that you
- 2:03:51Speaker 2: might not be ready to hear, it would be just
- 2:03:55Speaker 2: to open that door. It would be like, yeah, open
- 2:03:57Speaker 2: that door and face it and have those conversations, because
- 2:03:59Speaker 2: that's you know, right, like anytime like I might not
- 2:04:03Speaker 2: be doing something well enough, or when charl and I
- 2:04:05Speaker 2: are laying in bed and it's just as simple as
- 2:04:07Speaker 2: like you know, hey, what do you.
- 2:04:10Speaker 1: Need out of me this week?
- 2:04:11Speaker 2: Where it's like we should know that answer, but it's
- 2:04:14Speaker 2: almost allowing the space for that conversation to happen and
- 2:04:18Speaker 2: them to even say it.
- 2:04:19Speaker 1: Out loud, or the fact that you're even asking yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:04:24Speaker 1: or like I feel like I fell short here and
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: you're seeking feedback whatever that might be.
- 2:04:30Speaker 2: It's like all those conversations are important.
- 2:04:32Speaker 1: I I one hundred percent have not checked in with
- 2:04:35Speaker 1: Jill like that. I'm trying to remember the last time
- 2:04:38Speaker 1: that I've done that.
- 2:04:40Speaker 2: I really, yeah, and me intentionally, I don't. I'm not
- 2:04:45Speaker 2: thinking of the last time I actually did that charing
- 2:04:47Speaker 2: and I will do as you know, a couple's therapies.
- 2:04:49Speaker 2: So I feel like that stuff comes out when we're
- 2:04:51Speaker 2: sitting down talking about it, and sometimes you're.
- 2:04:52Speaker 3: Just not you're not privy or you're not aware.
- 2:04:55Speaker 2: It's like, oh, oh snap, I didn't know that you
- 2:04:58Speaker 2: know this was happening or this was in your mind.
- 2:05:00Speaker 2: And I can do a better job of seeking out
- 2:05:03Speaker 2: whether it's that information, her feelings in a certain situation.
- 2:05:09Speaker 1: But yeah, dude, which I gotta get that dialed into
- 2:05:12Speaker 1: what couple therapy. That's another thing that Jill and I
- 2:05:16Speaker 1: did pre mariital.
- 2:05:19Speaker 3: Yeah, the premarital counseling.
- 2:05:20Speaker 1: Yeah, prepping for and it was awesome, dude, And I
- 2:05:24Speaker 1: like we every I feel like every two weeks we're like,
- 2:05:27Speaker 1: we gotta get that counselor thing set up. We got it,
- 2:05:30Speaker 1: you know with the therapists and national Yeah, I'll ask well,
- 2:05:33Speaker 1: I heard that he does couples.
- 2:05:35Speaker 2: You know, Yeah, we love doing it. There are times
- 2:05:37Speaker 2: where I'm not necessarily sure we're going to talk about
- 2:05:40Speaker 2: going into it because I'm like, i feel like everything's
- 2:05:42Speaker 2: been going pretty smooth, and I'm not one of those
- 2:05:44Speaker 2: types who likes to just sit in like what we're
- 2:05:47Speaker 2: feeling in every moment. Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 2:05:51Speaker 2: You know, I'm like a guy's guy, I guess when
- 2:05:53Speaker 2: it comes to that. But I do enjoy I do
- 2:05:56Speaker 2: have a different perspective on therapy since doing it and
- 2:05:59Speaker 2: going to it, because I do feel like we get
- 2:06:00Speaker 2: a lot out of it because you have a third
- 2:06:02Speaker 2: party perspective that has zero bias toward either of our lives, Yes,
- 2:06:07Speaker 2: helping us kind of talk through what our differences might be,
- 2:06:09Speaker 2: and they're there to kind of help you zoom out
- 2:06:11Speaker 2: and see it for what it is, and you like
- 2:06:14Speaker 2: learn a different skill set of communication and like what
- 2:06:18Speaker 2: your triggers are and you you come to find out
- 2:06:20Speaker 2: you get some stuff off your chest that you might
- 2:06:23Speaker 2: have been feeling and you didn't necessarily know that you
- 2:06:25Speaker 2: were feeling. So I was really shaky on it at first.
- 2:06:28Speaker 2: At times, I'm not like the biggest fan of going
- 2:06:29Speaker 2: in and talking about all the emotions and the feelings
- 2:06:32Speaker 2: of everything. It's like, hey, we know we have to do.
- 2:06:34Speaker 2: Why sit in this for an hour of our time?
- 2:06:37Speaker 2: But every time we leave a session, we always feel like.
- 2:06:41Speaker 1: A lot better one hundred percent. We always feel a
- 2:06:44Speaker 1: lot better one hundred percent. That got me stoked.
- 2:06:49Speaker 2: That got me.
- 2:06:51Speaker 1: Wanting to I know Jill's going to be asleep when
- 2:06:53Speaker 1: I get home tonight, but.
- 2:06:55Speaker 2: It's fucking eleven thirty at night.
- 2:06:56Speaker 1: Oh.
- 2:06:58Speaker 3: I hope you guys have enjoyed it. We went a
- 2:06:59Speaker 3: little longer than.
- 2:07:00Speaker 2: Even last week, but you guys said, hey, fucking just
- 2:07:03Speaker 2: let it rip, don't cut it short. Yeah, we like
- 2:07:05Speaker 2: the longer ones. Hopefully you guys do. Hopefully you guys
- 2:07:08Speaker 2: enjoyed this one. Shut out all the dads, man, shout
- 2:07:11Speaker 2: out everybody tune in, whether your mom or dad, somebody
- 2:07:13Speaker 2: just interested in parenting. Are you guys just like listen
- 2:07:16Speaker 2: to me and sure and talk about stuff like this.
- 2:07:19Speaker 2: We appreciate it, man.
- 2:07:20Speaker 1: We appreciate it. Shout out the guy that say he
- 2:07:22Speaker 1: sits on a tractor and he said make it three hours. Yeah,
- 2:07:25Speaker 1: the chapter all, yeah, did you see that one?
- 2:07:27Speaker 3: No, I did not see that one, but I am
- 2:07:29Speaker 3: laughing like I did hear that one.
- 2:07:31Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yea yeah all right for the dads,
- 2:07:35Speaker 2: that's fucking take out the trash boys. Come on, yeah
- 2:07:39Speaker 2: that was.
- 2:07:41Speaker 1: Was that on purpose? No, I just flipped that's tune
- 2:07:44Speaker 1: a round. That's great, SOD. Tell my wife a probably
- 2:07:49Speaker 1: ten thirty
