- 0:18Speaker 1: Welcome to JAGZAM today. Can Annie Stephens, Fran sext and
- 0:21Speaker 1: John Osier with you. It's afternoon here in England as
- 0:24Speaker 1: we get ready for the match against the Rams this
- 0:26Speaker 1: week in Wembley. But good morning to everybody back in Jacksonville.
- 0:29Speaker 1: For JAGXAM today, we're gonna talk a lot about the
- 0:31Speaker 1: opponent and what we're expecting this weekend. After a frustrating
- 0:34Speaker 1: loss against the Seahawks, they're going to try to rebound
- 0:37Speaker 1: coming up. So let's go over some of our big
- 0:39Speaker 1: things today, brought to you by g e h A
- 0:40Speaker 1: Government Employees Health Association.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Big thing number.
- 0:43Speaker 1: One is mentor versus protege. And I bring this up
- 0:46Speaker 1: because there's a couple of them, and in regards to
- 0:49Speaker 1: the Rams and the Jags, of course you have the
- 0:50Speaker 1: head coaching Sean McVay Rams and Liam Cohen who worked
- 0:54Speaker 1: previously for Sean McVay, but also when you're looking at
- 0:57Speaker 1: general managers as well, when we're talking about James Gladstone
- 0:59Speaker 1: who worked under Less Need for the Rams for a
- 1:01Speaker 1: long time as well, so Brian. A lot of what
- 1:03Speaker 1: they're trying to do is take some of the positive
- 1:05Speaker 1: and the successes that they've seen in LA and bring
- 1:07Speaker 1: them to Jacksonville.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Listen, when you talk to people who have worked in
- 1:10Speaker 3: the RAMS organization, and there's some people that I know
- 1:13Speaker 3: that still work in the RAMS organization, they talk about
- 1:15Speaker 3: the quality from the top to the bottom, the way
- 1:17Speaker 3: that they go about scouting players, coaching players, the way
- 1:21Speaker 3: that they treat their staff, the things that are important
- 1:23Speaker 3: to them. They have a very high standard and everyone
- 1:26Speaker 3: works towards that standard, which John is what I have
- 1:29Speaker 3: seen here in the early going. Since Tony Basseli, James Gladstone,
- 1:33Speaker 3: and Liam Cohen got.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Together, it feels that way.
- 1:37Speaker 3: And listen, there is a lot of affection between all
- 1:41Speaker 3: of the parties that Kai just mentioned because of the
- 1:43Speaker 3: success that they had and because of the quality of
- 1:47Speaker 3: people that they are.
- 1:48Speaker 4: On a couple of thoughts, it's funny because they came
- 1:51Speaker 4: in together. Everybody thought like Liam and James were like buds, right,
- 1:55Speaker 4: and they really weren't in LA. But I think what
- 1:59Speaker 4: they both found they so I take this from sort
- 2:02Speaker 4: of listening to him. Once they got together, they were
- 2:05Speaker 4: very like minded because they had both been with the RAMS,
- 2:09Speaker 4: and they both feel the same way about football. Both
- 2:11Speaker 4: coaches kids that sort of thing. One thing about Gladstone,
- 2:16Speaker 4: in talking to people of the Rams, they knew as
- 2:19Speaker 4: soon as he got interviewed, they knew he was going
- 2:23Speaker 4: to be gone. He was that important, he was that
- 2:26Speaker 4: good to that organization. Look, I don't think the Jaguars
- 2:30Speaker 4: want to be Rams South, but Gladstone, I think it
- 2:33Speaker 4: was that the Combine did call the Rams the north Star.
- 2:36Speaker 4: It's a good organization to have as your guidepost. And
- 2:40Speaker 4: that's what it feels like. And you can feel what
- 2:42Speaker 4: you're talking about, Brian, the quality of individual that are involved,
- 2:46Speaker 4: in the quality of the way they do things.
- 2:50Speaker 2: And they win. I mean since they took over there,
- 2:52Speaker 2: they have.
- 2:53Speaker 3: In the seven previous seasons to this one, they have
- 2:57Speaker 3: six playoff years, super Bowl appearances and one super Bowl
- 3:01Speaker 3: championships and.
- 3:02Speaker 4: One playoff year they were decimated by any Yeah, it
- 3:05Speaker 4: was alway impossible for the the playoffs. So they've been
- 3:08Speaker 4: remarkably consistent.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Absolutely definitely something you want to base your franchise off of.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Let's go to our big thing Number two. We'll get
- 3:14Speaker 1: to the game a little bit and it's when push
- 3:16Speaker 1: comes to shove. We talked a ton about what the
- 3:18Speaker 1: offensive line did last week. Against Seahawks, how they struggled.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence talked about kind of moving on from that.
- 3:29Speaker 5: You know, you can't take one game and freak out
- 3:31Speaker 5: and let let you lose sight of kind of the
- 3:35Speaker 5: progress you've made and the things that you have done well,
- 3:37Speaker 5: and you just got to get back to some of
- 3:38Speaker 5: the basics, some of the fundamentals. Just do the little
- 3:41Speaker 5: things well. We got to clean up the penalties, like
- 3:42Speaker 5: we've talked about, that's something that we can control. I
- 3:44Speaker 5: think if we start there, there'll be huge improvement. So
- 3:48Speaker 5: then beyond that, there's little things that we can find Toune,
- 3:50Speaker 5: but that's the starting point of us.
- 3:55Speaker 2: John.
- 3:55Speaker 1: It's easier said than done, I'm sure, but trying to
- 3:58Speaker 1: get these penalties down and also on the offense, maybe
- 4:00Speaker 1: getting the running game going so they don't have to
- 4:02Speaker 1: pass as much and then thus seven sacks seventeen.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Quarterback hits I laughed when he said, you can't take
- 4:07Speaker 4: one game and freak out, because.
- 4:08Speaker 2: That's that's what we're doing.
- 4:10Speaker 4: So the hands do. I mean, look, it is harder
- 4:16Speaker 4: than it sounds to reduce the penalties because a lot
- 4:19Speaker 4: of the penalties have come from them trying to learn
- 4:21Speaker 4: this offense trying to implement it, and it's complex and
- 4:24Speaker 4: it needs pre snap stuff and there's going to come
- 4:26Speaker 4: a point where they all get it. But until then,
- 4:29Speaker 4: Liam is trying to find that balance between pre snap
- 4:32Speaker 4: and just making sure you get it. But you have
- 4:34Speaker 4: to do pre snap because if you don't, you can't
- 4:35Speaker 4: read the defense. I do think getting the running game
- 4:40Speaker 4: going is key, not just for the run, but it
- 4:43Speaker 4: will help alleviate a lot of the pressure on the
- 4:45Speaker 4: quarterback because you'll be in better down in distance, which,
- 4:47Speaker 4: by the way, Brian, if you reduce the penalties, that
- 4:50Speaker 4: happens too. So cleaning up it's so easy. We all
- 4:55Speaker 4: talk about cleaning up right. Well, if it was easy,
- 4:58Speaker 4: it wouldn't be a mess in the first place. So
- 5:02Speaker 4: that is the goal and we'll see if they can
- 5:03Speaker 4: do it.
- 5:04Speaker 3: There's a physical demand to this too, Kai when you
- 5:06Speaker 3: watch the tape, and I talked with Jeff Logan on
- 5:07Speaker 3: the practice field about this.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Yesterday.
- 5:09Speaker 3: You had a rookie center and you had guys who
- 5:12Speaker 3: were seeing so much because they couldn't run. It felt
- 5:15Speaker 3: like they were taking an extra step backwards to give
- 5:17Speaker 3: themselves a little bit more space to read and react
- 5:20Speaker 3: to what was going on, and in doing so, they
- 5:23Speaker 3: were soft. They just gave up too much and by
- 5:26Speaker 3: the time Trevor Lawrence was ready to throw, there was
- 5:30Speaker 3: someone in his space the whole day. So they've got
- 5:33Speaker 3: to be stout for whatever that means. They've got to
- 5:35Speaker 3: be firm, they've got to hold the line of the
- 5:37Speaker 3: line of scrimmage. And it's important to remind people that
- 5:39Speaker 3: for the first five weeks in the season they did
- 5:41Speaker 3: just that. They only gave up six sacks. They created
- 5:44Speaker 3: room in the running game. Last week, at least in
- 5:47Speaker 3: the course of this season is the anomaly. So we'll
- 5:51Speaker 3: see if they can get back to that where they
- 5:53Speaker 3: don't give up a little bit of extra space, where
- 5:55Speaker 3: they're stronger, more firm at the point of attack. Although
- 5:59Speaker 3: that's challenge this week because obviously you've got Verse and
- 6:02Speaker 3: Young and Kobe Turner in the middle. Jaguars are going
- 6:05Speaker 3: to have to fix some things on the practice field today,
- 6:06Speaker 3: tomorrow and Saturday to be ready for it.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Yeah, Britain Strange being out too doesn't help here. And
- 6:11Speaker 4: it's not that he's a pass blocker per se, but
- 6:14Speaker 4: he's a great run blocker. So all of a sudden
- 6:16Speaker 4: you're getting a little less in the run game. And
- 6:18Speaker 4: again it circles back to if the running game is
- 6:21Speaker 4: not working, it's a lot harder to pass protect.
- 6:23Speaker 1: All comes together, our final big thing today is going
- 6:26Speaker 1: to be top priority. We've talked about this to some
- 6:29Speaker 1: degree every week, I think at this point, but Travis
- 6:32Speaker 1: Hunter on offense, Is this the week we see more
- 6:35Speaker 1: involvement from him in the past game?
- 6:37Speaker 2: Please? Yes?
- 6:38Speaker 3: I mean every time he's got the ball in his hands,
- 6:40Speaker 3: you see what makes him special. There's there have not
- 6:43Speaker 3: been many receivers in Jaguars history that have the movement skills.
- 6:47Speaker 3: I mean not to say they can't run a jump
- 6:49Speaker 3: like you can, but I mean he just he's got
- 6:51Speaker 3: that something, that X factor that it about him. Throw
- 6:55Speaker 3: the ball to him as often as you can. But
- 6:56Speaker 3: you know that's what the Rams are going to try
- 6:58Speaker 3: and take him away.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Rights true, because they have tried. They've had things in
- 7:03Speaker 4: for Travis Hunter, and there's been times where Trevor's missed him.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Quite frankly, there's been times where it's in and then
- 7:09Speaker 4: you don't get the pass off or there's pressure. So
- 7:13Speaker 4: they're gonna keep trying. One thing I do know, you know,
- 7:17Speaker 4: I get a lot of questions, should he be playing
- 7:19Speaker 4: less on offense? Should be playing but there's no inclination
- 7:22Speaker 4: to play him less. The inclination is they think he's
- 7:26Speaker 4: might be their best cornerback, so he's gonna play there, yep.
- 7:29Speaker 4: And they want to keep trying to get him the
- 7:32Speaker 4: ball on offense because this team lacks big plays. Still,
- 7:37Speaker 4: you don't take this kid out if you want big plays.
- 7:40Speaker 2: What's remarkable is how patient he's been. Right.
- 7:42Speaker 3: I mean, so many receivers in this league when they
- 7:45Speaker 3: don't see the ball. Garrett Wilson in New York is
- 7:47Speaker 3: a great example, because he was so demonstrative here in
- 7:49Speaker 3: London last week about the game plan and how it
- 7:52Speaker 3: didn't work to get him involved. There's no there's no
- 7:56Speaker 3: sense of that from Travis Hunter, and comprobed by the
- 7:59Speaker 3: fact that he's we played for Dean Sanders, you'd expect
- 8:03Speaker 3: to see more of that, and you don't. He's remarkably humble.
- 8:06Speaker 3: He does want the football because he wants to help
- 8:08Speaker 3: his team win.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And I think we'll see more of that at some point,
- 8:11Speaker 1: and I'm hoping it's this week. Say with us here,
- 8:13Speaker 1: we'll look ahead and deep dive a little bit into
- 8:15Speaker 1: what the Rams are bringing to the table this weekend.
- 8:26Speaker 6: We've protected at a high level in a lot of ways.
- 8:29Speaker 6: Last week was a tough go, so they know, we
- 8:32Speaker 6: all know it takes truly, not just those guys up front.
- 8:34Speaker 6: We've got to help them and have a responsibility as coaches,
- 8:38Speaker 6: but also hey, stepping up to the plate and worrying
- 8:40Speaker 6: about us. Let's go get better at our sets, the
- 8:44Speaker 6: way that we slide and pass protection, the way that
- 8:46Speaker 6: we protect our fundamentals, our techniques, and worry about those
- 8:51Speaker 6: things and not so much the guys that we're playing against.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Silliam Cohen talking about addressing some of the offensive line problems,
- 9:00Speaker 1: but Brian, that's a lot easier said than done when
- 9:02Speaker 1: you're going up against what the Rams are going to
- 9:04Speaker 1: be trotting out there this week.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Absolutely, we talked a little bit about it in the
- 9:07Speaker 3: last segment. But you've got Brian, Byron Young who has
- 9:10Speaker 3: seven and a half sacks, the second most in the NFL,
- 9:13Speaker 3: at Jared Verus who has three and last week combined
- 9:15Speaker 3: for three, and Kobe Turner on the inside, who can
- 9:18Speaker 3: be a wrecking ball. He's not Aaron Donald, but he's very,
- 9:20Speaker 3: very good. So you've got to maybe you get Robert
- 9:23Speaker 3: Hansey back this week. We don't know what I mean,
- 9:25Speaker 3: find out this week how he practices. But you've got
- 9:28Speaker 3: a lot to do.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Yeah, sometimes you have a tough game and you get
- 9:31Speaker 4: better the next week and everybody says, well, who'd you play?
- 9:34Speaker 4: You won't have that problem this week. It'll be a test.
- 9:37Speaker 4: I trust they can pass the test. I don't think
- 9:39Speaker 4: what they did wrong against Seattle is necessarily not fixable.
- 9:43Speaker 4: I think the Rams will get some sacks, but again
- 9:46Speaker 4: it's going to depend on They've got to run, and
- 9:49Speaker 4: it doesn't have to be for one hundred and forty yards,
- 9:51Speaker 4: but they have to make the Rams respect the run.
- 9:53Speaker 3: The Rams aren't nearly as good against the run, at
- 9:56Speaker 3: least they haven't been this year as Seattle is, so
- 9:58Speaker 3: they should be able to find some room open.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Things up a little bit. I find the coaching matchup interesting.
- 10:03Speaker 1: It's always interesting when you're kind of facing an offense
- 10:06Speaker 1: that maybe yours is built off of. To some respect,
- 10:08Speaker 1: I asked Cohen yesterday at the presser, kind of is
- 10:11Speaker 1: that weird? Is it a pros it a con? He said,
- 10:14Speaker 1: it's a little bit of a chess match. But he
- 10:16Speaker 1: spent some time this week talking with the tensive Corneers
- 10:19Speaker 1: about game planning, and he said that was helpful for
- 10:22Speaker 1: him to kind of lay things out for coach Campanelli.
- 10:25Speaker 6: So many of the ball plays are similar that you
- 10:28Speaker 6: see each week. What makes Sean and those guys, I
- 10:31Speaker 6: think different. It is just the details that go into it,
- 10:34Speaker 6: in the amount of how specific emotions are, how efficient
- 10:39Speaker 6: they are at their operation pre snap identifying it what
- 10:44Speaker 6: they're looking for maybe in some of these plays, whether
- 10:47Speaker 6: they're can To run or Canada pass, Canada screens, whatever
- 10:51Speaker 6: it is. I think that's where he has a notch above.
- 10:58Speaker 2: John.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Liam obviously has a ton of respect for McVeigh and
- 11:00Speaker 1: what they've done with that organization. It's so it's kind
- 11:04Speaker 1: of interesting to know a little bit of the insider details,
- 11:06Speaker 1: but you also have to work on your own game plan.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Well. I think where it gets interesting is and Liam
- 11:11Speaker 4: alluded to this when he was talking there's no mystery
- 11:16Speaker 4: when Liam's coaching against McVeigh. There's no mystery about where
- 11:20Speaker 4: he's coming from, and there's no mystery about why they're
- 11:22Speaker 4: going to do certain things. And I think he said
- 11:25Speaker 4: situationally is when he'll sort of know, Okay, Sean's going
- 11:29Speaker 4: to do this here and he's going to try to
- 11:31Speaker 4: get somebody isolated here. I'm sure that's helped in game planning.
- 11:35Speaker 4: So it as we've listened to Liam this year, and
- 11:41Speaker 4: you guys have listened to him the same way I have.
- 11:43Speaker 4: You see why the McVeigh tree and the way they
- 11:47Speaker 4: approach football is starting to be the thing in the league.
- 11:51Speaker 4: There are certain coaches who define generations, Gibbs Walsh, these guys,
- 11:55Speaker 4: the McVeigh approach is starting to define the NFL. So
- 11:59Speaker 4: these you guys are both well versed in it, and
- 12:02Speaker 4: there won't be any mysteries on either side about sort
- 12:05Speaker 4: of why the other team's doing things. I think I
- 12:07Speaker 4: think guys right, she's been on all week. I think
- 12:09Speaker 4: it's the fascinating matchup it is.
- 12:10Speaker 3: And you can also, though, expect that Liam will use
- 12:13Speaker 3: some of the other influences that he's gained from his
- 12:15Speaker 3: time at Kentucky, you know, from his time with Todd
- 12:17Speaker 3: Bowles and that staff over in Tampa Bay, to try
- 12:20Speaker 3: to cloud it right, muddy the water's a little bit
- 12:24Speaker 3: plan give him some things that maybe he has not seen,
- 12:28Speaker 3: which is advantage to him because Sean has been there
- 12:32Speaker 3: doing the same things over and over. Now you could say, well,
- 12:34Speaker 3: Sean's brought new coaches in and had other influence as well. Absolutely,
- 12:37Speaker 3: there are those chess pieces where it's like, how do
- 12:40Speaker 3: I disguise what he thinks I'm going to do?
- 12:43Speaker 2: And that'll make it a lot of fun.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Let's talk a little bit about the quarterback matchup, Brian.
- 12:48Speaker 1: You asked Cohen yesterday a little bit about what makes
- 12:52Speaker 1: Stafford so special. Here's what he had to say.
- 12:55Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't trust those eyes. Now, don't trust his eyes,
- 12:58Speaker 6: but we've talked to it. It's this full command of
- 13:01Speaker 6: the operation that ultimately we have to be great with
- 13:05Speaker 6: our disguises, we have to be great with our spot
- 13:07Speaker 6: drop coverages. We've got to try to affect the pocket
- 13:10Speaker 6: obviously in a lot of ways. But he has such
- 13:14Speaker 6: a great way of dissecting pre snap and then operating
- 13:20Speaker 6: post snap.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Don't trust the eyes, Listen.
- 13:26Speaker 3: He's got seventeen years in professional football, and even when
- 13:30Speaker 3: he was in Detroit, he was a guy who was very,
- 13:33Speaker 3: very talented. What he's done with Sean McVay out there
- 13:37Speaker 3: and winning like he has has just given you a
- 13:39Speaker 3: greater sense of the type of talent that he is.
- 13:42Speaker 3: I remember standing on the practice field on Friday after
- 13:45Speaker 3: the Rams Niners Thursday night game a couple weeks back
- 13:48Speaker 3: and listening to liab raving about the things that Matt
- 13:53Speaker 3: Stafford did, and he called him the og.
- 13:56Speaker 2: I mean, the guy's just they're.
- 13:57Speaker 3: So smart and has seen almost everything over the course
- 14:00Speaker 3: of his career. You can't discount It's that's a key matchup.
- 14:05Speaker 3: It's one of the things that the Rams have on
- 14:06Speaker 3: their side every Sunday, but this week that's a guy
- 14:09Speaker 3: who could really cause a lot of problems for Well.
- 14:11Speaker 4: I think it's the thing that a lot of people
- 14:13Speaker 4: overlook about the Rams because Safford's been around forever. He's
- 14:16Speaker 4: never been like the best quarterback in the league on
- 14:19Speaker 4: a given years, so you know, nobody talks about him
- 14:22Speaker 4: a whole lot, but seventeen years he has seen everything.
- 14:27Speaker 4: On the Huddle Up Podcast yesterday, Bucky Brooks I thought,
- 14:30Speaker 4: really broke down Stafford well and talked about how unselfish
- 14:34Speaker 4: he is. It doesn't have to be his game. He
- 14:37Speaker 4: can manage it and then when it's time for it
- 14:39Speaker 4: to be his game, he's capable of making plays. Look
- 14:43Speaker 4: what Liam said. I was kind of laughing when Liam
- 14:46Speaker 4: was talking about it. He's great pre snap and Greek
- 14:48Speaker 4: and great post nap, which great. What else is there
- 14:52Speaker 4: going to dinner? I mean, he's very good. He can
- 14:57Speaker 4: run it and you're not going to fool him a
- 14:59Speaker 4: whole lot. So Look, he's high end and he may
- 15:03Speaker 4: not have his best receiver this week, which which couldn't matter.
- 15:05Speaker 2: It does help.
- 15:06Speaker 4: But he also had Devanta Adams who had.
- 15:09Speaker 3: One hundred andy eight yards or two fourth quarter touchdowns
- 15:11Speaker 3: for the Jets against the Jags last year.
- 15:13Speaker 1: That one still Yeah, Yes, I think that's a good point, John,
- 15:17Speaker 1: because we've been talking a ton. Puka Nakua has not
- 15:19Speaker 1: practiced so far this week. We'll see what happens on Thursday.
- 15:21Speaker 1: But DeVante Adams got after us pretty good and he's
- 15:23Speaker 1: still talented.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:24Speaker 4: I don't think any Jaguars fans are gonna forget that
- 15:26Speaker 4: for a while.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Well, and this year the Jaguars have allowed a couple
- 15:29Speaker 3: of guys to go off right. Last week we saw
- 15:32Speaker 3: one hundred and what fifty yards one hundred and sixty
- 15:35Speaker 3: yards from at Jamar Chase had won sixty five at
- 15:39Speaker 3: Nico Collins had the fourth quarter touchdown one.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Hundred and four yards.
- 15:42Speaker 3: The secondary has given up two great receivers, some big performances,
- 15:46Speaker 3: some great production this year, so they've got to tighten
- 15:48Speaker 3: it up absolutely.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Also, what's dangerous about the RAMS is you think about
- 15:52Speaker 4: a Cooper Cup was very, very good and then when
- 15:54Speaker 4: he started to Wanne was very good. I'm not calling
- 15:57Speaker 4: them system wide receivers, but somebody in that offense is
- 16:02Speaker 4: going to get theirs if it's running right. So don't
- 16:04Speaker 4: just necessarily think if they're best guys out there, they're
- 16:06Speaker 4: not going to be.

- 16:44Speaker 1: our best to predict the future of what the headlines
- 16:46Speaker 1: are going to be on Monday morning after this game
- 16:49Speaker 1: on Sunday at Wembley, Brian, what do you think they're
- 16:52Speaker 1: going to look?
- 16:52Speaker 2: Well, I'll go with friends and foes.
- 16:55Speaker 3: I think it's going to feel very friendly before the game.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Obviously for the reasons that you elaborated on at the top.
- 17:00Speaker 3: It's been a great storyline to follow all week long.
- 17:03Speaker 3: I don't think that Liam Cohen is going to walk
- 17:06Speaker 3: off feeling very chummy.
- 17:07Speaker 2: I don't like this matchup very much.
- 17:10Speaker 3: I think that the Rams are quietly a much better
- 17:13Speaker 3: team than people see them as right now because of
- 17:15Speaker 3: their record. They went to Philadelphia and probably should have
- 17:18Speaker 3: knocked off the Eagles at a moment where the Eagles
- 17:21Speaker 3: were really charging. I think the Gigers have the pieces
- 17:25Speaker 3: to be able to go do this, and I love
- 17:26Speaker 3: with his coach and his coaching staff for doing John.
- 17:29Speaker 3: I just think that a team that's so mistake prone,
- 17:31Speaker 3: I mean, they just shoot themselves in the foot over
- 17:34Speaker 3: and over and over. Now, they didn't done Monday Night football,
- 17:37Speaker 3: and they got the job done. But right now that
- 17:40Speaker 3: the holding penalties that the quarterback's not been entirely accurate.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I just have a hard time seeing them getting over
- 17:47Speaker 3: this hump. I'll take four and three going into the
- 17:48Speaker 3: bye week is with the extra time to really dial
- 17:52Speaker 3: in on the mistake that they make, the mistakes that
- 17:55Speaker 3: they make over and over and get ready for the
- 17:57Speaker 3: second half of the season, which I think is a
- 17:59Speaker 3: much more favorable skit.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Joel, Yeah, I think what you worry about is the
- 18:02Speaker 4: Rams are one of those teams that can get tempo going,
- 18:05Speaker 4: and if things are going against you early, they can
- 18:08Speaker 4: take advantage of it. You worry about some mistakes and
- 18:13Speaker 4: the Rams getting a double digit lead and not being
- 18:14Speaker 4: able to get back into it because you're so negative
- 18:17Speaker 4: all the time. I went with a rapid response, and
- 18:22Speaker 4: I'm with you, Brian, I'm worried about this game. I
- 18:26Speaker 4: thought before the season this Seahawks Rams stretch was really dangerous,
- 18:31Speaker 4: and everybody was talking about the Chiefs and then you
- 18:33Speaker 4: know there are two very quietly good teams that can
- 18:38Speaker 4: get you if you're not playing well. But I went
- 18:41Speaker 4: rapid response because I think it's their first chance to
- 18:46Speaker 4: really respond to real adversity. When they lost to Cincinnati,
- 18:50Speaker 4: it was very easy and probably correct to say well,
- 18:52Speaker 4: we should have won the game, because they probably should
- 18:55Speaker 4: have won the game. They were up, They had dominated
- 18:57Speaker 4: that whole game, and you felt good about it. You
- 19:00Speaker 4: didn't have the same good feelings after Seattle, even though
- 19:04Speaker 4: to their credit, they were good enough to have figured
- 19:07Speaker 4: out a way maybe get back into that game but couldn't.
- 19:10Speaker 4: But they didn't outplay the Seahawks. So it's their first
- 19:14Speaker 4: chance to sort of say, hey, we don't have to
- 19:15Speaker 4: feel this way about ourselves. And then if they get
- 19:18Speaker 4: back into it the rapid see all words matter here.
- 19:23Speaker 4: I think if they're going to do it, I think
- 19:27Speaker 4: before the season we all thought dynamic offense, big plays.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Brian Thomas junior Travis Hunter hasn't been there. If they're
- 19:34Speaker 4: gonna win, I think they have to get plays out
- 19:35Speaker 4: of those guys.
- 19:36Speaker 1: My prediction is it's not necessarily negative. I think I
- 19:41Speaker 1: would love to see I would love them to play
- 19:43Speaker 1: the Rams again, like maybe mid season next year, because
- 19:47Speaker 1: I feel for me, it just feels early to kind
- 19:50Speaker 1: of judge where the Liam Cohen regime is at. Plus,
- 19:52Speaker 1: I think Trevor's gonna be under a ton of pressure
- 19:55Speaker 1: once again. We don't know what the offensive line is
- 19:57Speaker 1: going to look like exactly. But with that Rams front
- 20:00Speaker 1: going to be tough for him and for me. Situational football, right,
- 20:03Speaker 1: situational masters. Liam Cohen talks about all the time. McVay
- 20:06Speaker 1: is a master of that sort of thing. And I
- 20:08Speaker 1: think if it comes down to anything like that, the
- 20:10Speaker 1: Rams have the upper hand, and not just because of coaching.
- 20:13Speaker 1: And I think that McVay is better than Cohen. I
- 20:15Speaker 1: don't think that at all. But you have to have
- 20:16Speaker 1: your players all bought in and understanding that. And I
- 20:19Speaker 1: don't know if the Jaguars right now, with the penalties
- 20:22Speaker 1: and the mistakes that they're making, if it comes down
- 20:23Speaker 1: to you know, having a late to make a late
- 20:27Speaker 1: drive and be really smart with the football and get
- 20:29Speaker 1: out of bounce to keep your time outs, just being
- 20:32Speaker 1: situationally smart, I don't know if they're there yet.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Well, boy, the dismal Gray London guys got to me.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Johnny Cheer over here, which is you know, always been
- 20:43Speaker 4: my name. Yeah, I am seeing the ray of light.
- 20:46Speaker 4: I'm ready to be wrong about that.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Everybody is just to your point.
- 20:50Speaker 3: He talked yesterday, Liam did about how Sean mcvagh gets
- 20:54Speaker 3: the team ready, how he is able to take a
- 20:57Speaker 3: tough situation and work through it, keep them up in
- 21:01Speaker 3: their energy level up and the Rams show up ready
- 21:03Speaker 3: to play every week because of the way that McVeigh
- 21:06Speaker 3: has managed that for seven years, and that's something he
- 21:09Speaker 3: admires and something he's trying to copy. So it will
- 21:12Speaker 3: be interesting to see if you see something similar to
- 21:15Speaker 3: this from Lee from Liam this week in that vein.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Something he wants to get done is have those guys
- 21:20Speaker 3: ready to play. Just because I don't know that they
- 21:22Speaker 3: can overcome all of the mistakes that they make in
- 21:25Speaker 3: one week doesn't mean that they can't.
- 21:27Speaker 2: So we'll see.
- 21:27Speaker 4: There's a little bit of I'm teasing you guys about
- 21:31Speaker 4: being dismal. Also think about this, and this's and important
- 21:33Speaker 4: theme this week. You have Brendon Strange out, Trayvon's still
- 21:37Speaker 4: he's limited limited, you're now without Devin Lloyd. If you
- 21:42Speaker 4: could squeeze this one out and get to the by
- 21:45Speaker 4: five and two, beating them without those guys who are
- 21:48Speaker 4: foundation pieces to me for this team, I guess I'm
- 21:51Speaker 4: feeding into the dismalness, but it would be a It's
- 21:56Speaker 4: going to be a tough lift and it would be
- 21:57Speaker 4: impressive if they can do it. Considering those circumstances, you.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Better have no more than four or five penalties if
- 22:01Speaker 3: you expect to win this game. Because those created the
- 22:04Speaker 3: long distance third down situations, they took away points when
- 22:08Speaker 3: you had scored them. You have got to play really
- 22:11Speaker 3: good football on Sunday at Wembley Stateium, good clean football.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Say with some Jagsam will tell you what's coming up
- 22:16Speaker 1: the rest of the week before the match on Sunday.

- 22:34Speaker 1: Zipchair is furniture for fans.
- 22:39Speaker 6: We know who their good players are and have a
- 22:41Speaker 6: lot of respect for them. But the message this morning
- 22:44Speaker 6: was we've been to our game wreckers. You know, in
- 22:48Speaker 6: a lot of ways. We've played some really good opponents,
- 22:50Speaker 6: and we have a lot of respect for those opponents.
- 22:52Speaker 6: But until we look at ourselves and fix our mistakes,
- 22:58Speaker 6: it doesn't matter who we're playing.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Nam Cohen touched on some of the same points we do.
- 23:06Speaker 1: They have that game rerecords meeting where they talk about
- 23:07Speaker 1: some of you know, the best players they are going
- 23:09Speaker 1: to face on the upcoming team. But right now they're
- 23:11Speaker 1: wrecking the game for themselves in a bad way. So
- 23:14Speaker 1: just cleaning things up and getting back on track.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Well, you hope that a full week of practice helps
- 23:20Speaker 3: you in coverage because Greg Newsom has been here, right.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I mean we saw him just briefly last week.
- 23:25Speaker 3: And I was watching him with the practice field yesterday,
- 23:27Speaker 3: and you know, he looked like he was more in
- 23:29Speaker 3: tune with what they want. Your coverage had better be
- 23:31Speaker 3: good because DeVante Adams can cause a lot of problems
- 23:33Speaker 3: for you.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know the exposive players and another theme. They
- 23:37Speaker 4: gave up two last week and they were killers. Give
- 23:39Speaker 4: a thirteen first downs, but two sixty one yard passes
- 23:42Speaker 4: that counter that. But overall, you know, I think we've
- 23:46Speaker 4: hit the theme if they can. You know, you can't
- 23:49Speaker 4: back yourself up if you're walking backward a lot. It's
- 23:54Speaker 4: hard to win in the NFL, and they walked backward
- 23:55Speaker 4: way too much last week.
- 23:57Speaker 1: All right, guys, enjoy the game early morning on Sunday.
- 24:00Speaker 1: We'll be back with you later days in the week
- 24:02Speaker 1: once we travel back from the UK.
- 24:03Speaker 3: But enjoy it.
