- 1:35Oracle surged 6.6% on Friday following reports that its US operations related to TikTok will be sold into a joint venture , easing regulatory concerns .
- 1:47Micron Technology jumped 7% after delivering what was called “ exceptionally robust ” earnings for its fiscal first quarter , signaling booming demand for memory chips .
- 1:59And NVIDIA rose 3.9% on speculation the Trump administration might ease restrictions on selling its highend H200 AI chips to certain approved customers in China — a massive relief .
- 2:12However , not all news was positive .
- 2:15Nike shares plunged over 10% after announcing that it anticipates a sales decline in the current quarter , citing strong headwinds in China , a reminder that risks exist even in a booming market .
- 2:29The macroeconomic picture is highly supportive of this rally .
- 2:33We are firmly in a ‘ Goldilocks ’ scenario .
- 2:36The Federal Reserve cut its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points this month — the third cut this year — bringing the rate down to 3.5%–3.75% .
- 2:48This accommodates the market and increases the potential for cheaper borrowing costs in 2026 .
- 2:55Inflation is easing , with the yearonyear figure falling to 2.7% in November , moving closer to the Fed’s 2% target .
- 3:04The only yellow flag remains the labor market , which is softening , with unemployment rising to a fouryear high of 4.6% in November , which suggests some lingering consumer stress .
- 3:16Based on this data , our recommendations today center on continuing to ride the momentum while tactically hedging against rate changes and consumer weakness .
- 3:26First , maintain your core exposure to AIdriven growth .
- 3:30The growth projections and strong earnings in this area are still dominating the S&P 500’s performance .
- 3:37For a highconviction pureplay , look to NVIDIA , as it remains the crucial leader in the AI buildout and recently received a nearterm catalyst regarding China access .
- 3:48Alternatively , the Invesco QQQ Trust provides diversified exposure to the largest tech leaders .
- 3:56Second , look for tactical rotation into ratesensitive sectors .
- 4:00With three Fed cuts this year and more expected in 2026 , sectors beaten down by high rates are attractive .
- 4:08Consider the Vanguard Real Estate ETF , VNQ .
- 4:13REITs are highly sensitive to lower interest rates , which directly lowers their borrowing costs and boosts valuations .
- 4:21If you want to play the rates directly , the iShares Core U.S.
- 4:25Aggregate Bond ETF , AGG , offers capital appreciation potential as yields fall .
- 4:31Third , given the rise in unemployment to 4.6% and the warning signs from companies like Nike , we need defensive positioning .
- 4:41For stability against a potential correction , look at Consumer Defensive stocks like Procter & Gamble , PG , which sells essential noncyclical goods .
- 4:51Additionally , the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund , XLV , offers solid fundamentals and noncyclical resilience , making it a great defensive anchor .
- 5:02That’s it for this early morning episode of Spy Trader .
- 5:06Trade smart , stay bullish , and we’ll catch you next time .
